- 0:01Speaker 1: Jerry Katy and Josh makes one hundred.
- 0:04Speaker 2: Let's talk about clothes.
- 0:06Speaker 3: Gen Z now has a new word. It's a slang
- 0:11Speaker 3: insult for anything that's low quality or inauthentic, like me.
- 0:19Speaker 3: It's called polyester. Oh, you're being so polyester right now.
- 0:23Speaker 1: They use it as like.
- 0:25Speaker 2: It's like low quality.
- 0:26Speaker 3: It's like if you're wearing like a polyester suit or something,
- 0:28Speaker 3: you're like that is low quality and nasty. For example,
- 0:32Speaker 3: there's a TikToker where an eighteen year old dude is
- 0:35Speaker 3: talking about his life. He wants in his twenties, like
- 0:38Speaker 3: the penthouse in New York and fancy drinks at a
- 0:40Speaker 3: coffee shop. An automatic AI agent does all of his work.
- 0:45Speaker 3: He spends his afternoons playing tentis tennis, and everyone's saying
- 0:49Speaker 3: that he has a polyester lifestyle. It's low quality or inauthentic.
- 0:55Speaker 2: I don't really quite get that. How is that low quality?
- 0:59Speaker 4: Yeah, that's the example that they have here, because it's
- 1:01Speaker 4: just unrealistic.
- 1:03Speaker 2: That's what it is.
- 1:04Speaker 1: Not real fabric.
- 1:06Speaker 4: Yeah, it's fake.
- 1:07Speaker 2: And so I know what that?
- 1:09Speaker 4: Oh, it was such a polyester story.
- 1:13Speaker 1: Repurposing words what.
- 1:16Speaker 2: You're going clothes? That was a stupid segue speaking of clothes,
- 1:19Speaker 2: just went right into it, Jarre, I'm gonna hear about
- 1:21Speaker 2: this one.
- 1:23Speaker 3: We are in the process of getting the kiddos ready
- 1:25Speaker 3: for back to school, right yeah, and that means back
- 1:28Speaker 3: to school clothes, shopping, shoes, pants, all sorts of stuff.
- 1:31Speaker 3: We have a hard and fast rule now in the
- 1:33Speaker 3: house when it comes to my daughter and what she's
- 1:35Speaker 3: wearing to school, because she's starting middle school. She can
- 1:38Speaker 3: wear no clothes that shows her tom tum, No belly
- 1:42Speaker 3: button clothes.
- 1:43Speaker 5: The conversation you have to have now, I mean it's
- 1:46Speaker 5: it's everywhere, it.
- 1:47Speaker 2: Really is, is it school?
- 1:49Speaker 3: Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, definitely showing a lot of the
- 1:51Speaker 3: girls are showing their tomtumbs.
- 1:53Speaker 2: No, sixth, seventh, eighth grade. It's a thing.
- 1:55Speaker 3: It's a look, right, and it's hard to say no
- 1:57Speaker 3: because I mean I do it.
- 2:00Speaker 2: Showing up and cool.
- 2:01Speaker 3: Is definitely in my daughter's kitchen saying now you're gonna
- 2:04Speaker 3: wear clothes.
- 2:05Speaker 2: With full coverage. Yeah, were you like that with the naw?
- 2:08Speaker 5: I was. It was a different time though, Like the
- 2:10Speaker 5: schools wouldn't allow it. The school would not allow you
- 2:13Speaker 5: to show up with those types of clothes that were
- 2:16Speaker 5: revealing they still had the rule about, you know, your
- 2:19Speaker 5: fingertips had to come to a certain point when it
- 2:21Speaker 5: came to your shorts and everything.
- 2:22Speaker 1: So the schools had rules that we had to follow up.
- 2:26Speaker 5: Made it a little easier as the parent, because you
- 2:29Speaker 5: don't want to shame your kid. That's the last thing
- 2:31Speaker 5: you want to do and that's not what it's about.
- 2:34Speaker 5: But it is hard. This is such a hard age
- 2:37Speaker 5: to get into as the parent as the kid because
- 2:40Speaker 5: as the kid, all you want to do is be adult.
- 2:42Speaker 5: You just want to do everything you want to do
- 2:44Speaker 5: all the adults. I just want to be an adult,
- 2:47Speaker 5: and as a parent, you want to be like you
- 2:50Speaker 5: don't really want to be an adult though, enjoy being
- 2:52Speaker 5: a kid, like enjoy where you're at, and neither one
- 2:56Speaker 5: of yeah, you know.
- 2:57Speaker 1: So that's really the struggle.
- 2:59Speaker 5: And I was so grateful again the school had the rules,
- 3:01Speaker 5: so I didn't have to come down on the nun
- 3:03Speaker 5: us open.
- 3:03Speaker 3: But I don't like throwing the word shaming out there.
- 3:06Speaker 3: That's such a buzzy phrase. It's not a shaming thing.
- 3:09Speaker 3: It's teaching your children that there are locations where you
- 3:12Speaker 3: need to look somewhat professional. That's why also why we
- 3:15Speaker 3: don't have we have the rule in our house you're
- 3:17Speaker 3: not participating in pajama day because you look sloppy. You
- 3:21Speaker 3: don't go out into the real world and run around
- 3:23Speaker 3: the office in your pajamas.
- 3:26Speaker 2: Think better of yourself. You're at a.
- 3:28Speaker 3: Location where you're supposed to be learning dress nice. You're
- 3:33Speaker 3: not wearing your pajamas. No, we're not doing that.
- 3:35Speaker 1: But that's a rule you have, steadfast.
- 3:37Speaker 2: So that's good.
- 3:38Speaker 3: You're not participating in pajama day you have. You're encouraging
- 3:42Speaker 3: dressing like a slob, and I'm not into that, and.
- 3:44Speaker 1: That's why I got into radio. But you're right, yeah,
- 3:48Speaker 1: but we still look nicer.
- 3:49Speaker 3: We still again, people have that stigma too that we
- 3:52Speaker 3: come here looking like sloppy.
- 3:54Speaker 2: You know what.
- 3:55Speaker 3: We are still in a place of business, and that's
- 3:57Speaker 3: an office. Clients come and go. You know, you try
- 3:59Speaker 3: to nice.
- 4:00Speaker 5: Yeah, no, you really do. I mean that's changed a
- 4:02Speaker 5: lot too. When I started in radio, I mean I
- 4:05Speaker 5: was doing overnight, so I literally would come in my
- 4:07Speaker 5: pajamas exactly. So. But it really is just such a
- 4:13Speaker 5: hard conversation to have with a middle schooler because then
- 4:16Speaker 5: it's gonna go into high school and then you know
- 4:19Speaker 5: they're gonna rebel against their parents. So it's just like,
- 4:22Speaker 5: how are they gonna do that? Like, it's just there's
- 4:25Speaker 5: so many.
- 4:26Speaker 2: Things that smoke and cigarettes, and.
- 4:30Speaker 4: It's just remember Katie, my older sister, We went to
- 4:34Speaker 4: high school at the same time, and she would do
- 4:36Speaker 4: the thing where she wanted to rebel so badly. She
- 4:38Speaker 4: would wear a different outfit out the door. Oh yeah,
- 4:40Speaker 4: we get to school and then do the changing thing
- 4:42Speaker 4: like that's how bad it goes all.
- 4:45Speaker 2: The house and put their makeup on totally.
- 4:48Speaker 3: Yeah, and you were going off about some stuff you
- 4:50Speaker 3: were seeing on your screen over there this morning.
- 4:51Speaker 2: What were you looking at?
- 4:52Speaker 5: Well, again, I just the outfits that people are letting
- 4:55Speaker 5: their kids go to school, and like, well, the sorts, right,
- 5:00Speaker 5: the shorts that show all of the back.
- 5:03Speaker 2: No coverage, there's no cover. He got booty shorts in school.
- 5:08Speaker 5: And again this it's so hard to be able to
- 5:11Speaker 5: be like, hey, when you go to school, it's you know,
- 5:15Speaker 5: you don't want to be like it's about learning and that's.
- 5:17Speaker 1: What you're there for.
- 5:17Speaker 5: But this is a conversation you have to have with
- 5:20Speaker 5: your kids. It will I just my mom wouldn't let
- 5:24Speaker 5: me wear them.
- 5:26Speaker 1: We were not allowed to wear those at all.
- 5:29Speaker 5: And I remember when I was eighteen, one of the
- 5:32Speaker 5: first things I did was run out and buy a
- 5:34Speaker 5: pair of booty shorts. You do it because my mom
- 5:37Speaker 5: would not let me. She would not let me have them,
- 5:40Speaker 5: and so it's one of the first things I did.
- 5:42Speaker 5: And so like, that's where my concern comes from, is like,
- 5:45Speaker 5: what is your kid gonna do to rebel because they're
- 5:47Speaker 5: gonna They're gonna I need to get pregnant.
- 5:50Speaker 2: No, I'll.
- 5:54Speaker 1: I'm just saying, just saying.
- 6:00Speaker 2: Kid, he was rocking the booty shirts. And then yeah,
- 6:02Speaker 2: that's how we got.
- 6:06Speaker 3: Well, we were talking about the kids rocking the booty
- 6:08Speaker 3: shorts to school and showing off their tummy. Tom Tum's
- 6:12Speaker 3: uh Wade wrote in and said, uh are you kidding me?
- 6:16Speaker 3: You guys the schools nowadays don't care about dress code.
- 6:19Speaker 3: For some reason, he feels bad about his fifteen year
- 6:21Speaker 3: old son.
- 6:22Speaker 2: Was his son? What's his son wearing? Yeah?
- 6:26Speaker 3: I want to know the tube top or something. Wait,
- 6:29Speaker 3: I need more information. Why is your fifteen year old
- 6:32Speaker 3: son upset? I don't know if I would go that far.
- 6:35Speaker 3: I think the schools do.
- 6:36Speaker 2: Try to crack down on some You know.
- 6:38Speaker 3: I think they questionable attire, but sometimes I think it's like,
- 6:42Speaker 3: choose your battles.
- 6:42Speaker 1: Too, and let's be honest.
- 6:44Speaker 5: Like kids, especially in that teenage air era, they just
- 6:47Speaker 5: want to push the limits.
- 6:48Speaker 1: I know I did.
- 6:49Speaker 5: I know.
- 6:50Speaker 1: I wanted to break all the rules as much as
- 6:52Speaker 1: I could because it's fun.
- 6:53Speaker 3: I was always wearing my knee high boots exactly leather shorts, right,
- 6:59Speaker 3: I was into it. This came in from Kenny Hi
- 7:02Speaker 3: Kenny Ken Kenny says, Guys, I quit drinking alcohol about
- 7:07Speaker 3: six months ago. I didn't have a problem or anything.
- 7:09Speaker 3: I just wanted to cut it out. Honestly, I feel
- 7:11Speaker 3: better without it. But I still like the taste of beer,
- 7:15Speaker 3: so I've gotten into non alcoholic beer. A couple weeks ago.
- 7:20Speaker 3: I started bringing one with me and my lunch to work.
- 7:26Speaker 3: I sit in the breakroom, eat my sandwich, crack open
- 7:29Speaker 3: and na beer and get back to work.
- 7:31Speaker 2: I never thought twice about it. I know, real men
- 7:35Speaker 2: of genius.
- 7:37Speaker 3: He said to me, it's basically the same thing as
- 7:39Speaker 3: having a coke. Well, one of my coworkers saw me
- 7:42Speaker 3: drinking and said, quote, are you seriously drinking up? Beer
- 7:46Speaker 3: at work, and then in parentheses he wrote, Karen's am
- 7:49Speaker 3: I right.
- 7:51Speaker 2: I showed it to her.
- 7:52Speaker 3: I was like, this is non alcoholic, and she still
- 7:55Speaker 3: thought it was completely inappropriate. Her argument says, it looks
- 7:58Speaker 3: like I'm drinking beer at work. If a client or
- 8:01Speaker 3: someone from upper management walk by, they're not gonna know
- 8:04Speaker 3: the difference. Now, somehow this has become a whole office debate.
- 8:08Speaker 3: Half my coworkers think it's pretty damn funny. Nobody cares,
- 8:12Speaker 3: They say, if there's no alcohol in it, there's no
- 8:14Speaker 3: difference between having that or sparkling water or an energy drink.
- 8:18Speaker 3: The other half thinks, even if I'm technically not doing
- 8:21Speaker 3: anything wrong, there's just something unprofessional about sitting in the
- 8:25Speaker 3: company breakroom at noon drinking something out of a can
- 8:29Speaker 3: of beer.
- 8:29Speaker 2: Nice legend, genius.
- 8:33Speaker 3: He says, it's actually been brought up to my manager,
- 8:36Speaker 3: and now HR is, Oh, now I feel like being
- 8:39Speaker 3: pressured to stop doing something that isn't actually against any
- 8:43Speaker 3: rule that he wrote. I think I'm digging my heels
- 8:46Speaker 3: in a little bit. Uh see, a lot more, a
- 8:50Speaker 3: lot more, a lot more.
- 8:51Speaker 2: Okay, what do you.
- 8:51Speaker 3: Guys think is drinking a non alcoholic beer at work
- 8:55Speaker 3: perfectly acceptable because there's no alcohol in it, or does
- 8:58Speaker 3: the fact that it looks and it feels like you're
- 9:00Speaker 3: drinking a beer at work make it inappropriate even if
- 9:04Speaker 3: you're technically sober.
- 9:06Speaker 2: A f love the show.
- 9:08Speaker 3: I hope this makes it on the air, And that's
- 9:09Speaker 3: from Kenny. Well, Kenny, it did make it on the air.
- 9:12Speaker 1: I sure did. You should get a job in our
- 9:15Speaker 1: sales department.
- 9:17Speaker 2: I think, Kenny a good time.
- 9:19Speaker 3: This is wild to me when I read it, because
- 9:22Speaker 3: I never thought about this. I never once thought I'm
- 9:25Speaker 3: gonna pack my lunch, go to work, toss in a
- 9:28Speaker 3: Mickey Ultra zero that has no alcohol in it, and
- 9:32Speaker 3: crack and open at work.
- 9:33Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 9:33Speaker 1: Well, just to be fair, there's a small bit of aout.
- 9:36Speaker 2: I mean there is like a point. It's us a listerine.
- 9:40Speaker 5: Well, no, it's like drinking kambucha, because you drink cambucha
- 9:44Speaker 5: at work.
- 9:44Speaker 2: A lot of people do that.
- 9:45Speaker 1: There's a small slight.
- 9:48Speaker 3: So maybe if he drank like forty of these during
- 9:51Speaker 3: his break.
- 9:52Speaker 2: He might have a buzz.
- 9:53Speaker 1: Exactly.
- 9:54Speaker 2: It's non alcoholic.
- 9:55Speaker 3: Yeah, you again, you probably do have more alcohol on
- 9:58Speaker 3: your list dream maybe Anyway, the dilemma is here.
- 10:01Speaker 1: You don't swallow the story for yourself.
- 10:05Speaker 2: It was gonna keep saying that cabin.
- 10:07Speaker 3: It absorbs into your gums and your tongue. You can
- 10:09Speaker 3: get some alcohol in your blood stream. Come on, guys,
- 10:12Speaker 3: science and really, you don't swallow your this dream. You
- 10:15Speaker 3: should see how it makes your piecemell.
- 10:17Speaker 2: Your phone lines are already bring in if you want
- 10:19Speaker 2: to sound off about this.
- 10:21Speaker 3: Is it okay to have a non alcoholic beer at work?
- 10:24Speaker 3: Can you crack one open during your break it's non alcoholic?
- 10:29Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 10:29Speaker 2: I guess. Well I've got some thoughts on this. Avery
- 10:32Speaker 2: made it through. Hi Avery? Hello, Hello, Well top of
- 10:36Speaker 2: the morning to you.
- 10:37Speaker 3: What do you think about Kinney's dilemma with his non
- 10:39Speaker 3: alcoholic beer.
- 10:41Speaker 7: I think it's fine. I can see the confusion with like,
- 10:44Speaker 7: I mean, it still has the beer's logo. So I
- 10:47Speaker 7: think he needs like a really funny cooozy to go
- 10:50Speaker 7: along with it.
- 10:51Speaker 3: Yeah, perfect, you get a custom made coozie that says
- 10:56Speaker 3: HR sucks on it.
- 10:58Speaker 7: Yeah, or like safety training in progress, Oh, there you go, or.
- 11:03Speaker 2: Just one that says I'm not drunk.
- 11:05Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly, Okay, So Kouzi aside, do you think it's
- 11:10Speaker 3: appropriate or inappropriate to.
- 11:12Speaker 2: Have non alcoholic beer at work.
- 11:15Speaker 7: I think it depends on the workplace, honestly. I mean,
- 11:19Speaker 7: I'm gonna go if it's not inappropriate.
- 11:22Speaker 2: That it's not inappropriate. So you're okay with it?
- 11:26Speaker 7: I would be. Yeah, it's the same thing as kombucha.
- 11:29Speaker 3: Like Katie said, Yeah, what's the one business you feel
- 11:33Speaker 3: like you shouldn't be cracking open a non alcoholic beer.
- 11:37Speaker 7: I feel like, if you're in like a big corporate
- 11:40Speaker 7: meeting with all these clients, you probably shouldn't. But if
- 11:44Speaker 7: you're sitting at sitting at a table having your lunch,
- 11:47Speaker 7: you're alone, I think it's totally fine.
- 11:49Speaker 3: You know when I thought it would be funny, is
- 11:51Speaker 3: like right before you head into surgery.
- 11:53Speaker 7: No, yeah, that would be hilarious.
- 11:58Speaker 5: No, I was thinking like a police officer than you.
- 12:00Speaker 5: Probably even if it is, yeah, alcoholic.
- 12:04Speaker 7: I think that would be funnier alcoholic beer in your hand.
- 12:09Speaker 3: Oh, Avery, you're making us laugh. I got a bunch
- 12:11Speaker 3: of other calls to get to. I'm putting in you
- 12:13Speaker 3: in camp. Yeah, it's fine, don't worry about it, Kenny,
- 12:16Speaker 3: So thank you Avery for calling in.
- 12:18Speaker 2: Here is Marky Mark? Hi Mark Hey, how you doing well?
- 12:22Speaker 2: We're super dupes, buddy.
- 12:23Speaker 3: Do you think it's okay for Kenny to have a
- 12:25Speaker 3: non alcoholic beer during lunch at work?
- 12:28Speaker 8: Personally, I wouldn't care. But the issue here is more
- 12:31Speaker 8: important is that he's causing stripes in the workplace, and
- 12:34Speaker 8: that he's causing an issue with management and other people,
- 12:38Speaker 8: and he's taking a stand. It's just going to hurt himself.
- 12:41Speaker 8: You know, he's gonna want raises, he's gonna went promotions.
- 12:44Speaker 8: And I think that when you get kind of a
- 12:47Speaker 8: moniker of being a trouble maker, whether you're right or
- 12:49Speaker 8: wrong doesn't really matter. This is such a trivial issue.
- 12:52Speaker 8: I would have just said, hey, I'm really sorry. I
- 12:54Speaker 8: just never bring another beer, and if he doesn't like it,
- 12:57Speaker 8: then go somewhere else and work for himself. But I
- 13:00Speaker 8: just don't think he should cause I think he's done
- 13:02Speaker 8: to be causing trouble at work and to take a
- 13:04Speaker 8: stand on something that I see is trivial.
- 13:06Speaker 2: Listen to Mark the voice of reading.
- 13:08Speaker 5: You are so smart because you're right, though you could
- 13:10Speaker 5: do a million things right, and the one wrong thing
- 13:13Speaker 5: to do that is what they remember.
- 13:15Speaker 2: Don't I know? It such a good point, don't I
- 13:17Speaker 2: know it?
- 13:18Speaker 3: Mark?
- 13:20Speaker 6: Real?
- 13:22Speaker 2: But again, Mark, it's only one Karen who's all of
- 13:24Speaker 2: a sudden caused.
- 13:27Speaker 8: H H. So this has become an issue. He should
- 13:32Speaker 8: have backed down immediately and just like, hey, I didn't
- 13:35Speaker 8: realize it was a problem. I'm sorry, it's not alcoholic. Hey,
- 13:38Speaker 8: I won't do it again, guys, And then he would
- 13:40Speaker 8: have been a hero for them.
- 13:41Speaker 3: Really, that's what his cousy can say. I'm a here, Mark,
- 13:47Speaker 3: thank you for your very logical response. So I'm going
- 13:49Speaker 3: to say I'm gonna put camp in him, and camp
- 13:51Speaker 3: know not appropriate. What I would do is I'd find
- 13:55Speaker 3: some stuff that that Karen is doing and start complaining
- 13:58Speaker 3: about that.
- 13:58Speaker 2: Dude, what's up Monica.
- 14:07Speaker 9: I also agree with Mark, I'm a no, it's not okay.
- 14:11Speaker 9: I used to work in HR, and we have like
- 14:14Speaker 9: a golden rule that it's really not what your intention
- 14:18Speaker 9: is is how it's received. I think HR can really
- 14:22Speaker 9: kind of come back at him and find, you know
- 14:24Speaker 9: that one day he's late or something because he's you know,
- 14:28Speaker 9: stare in the pot. If he's not planning to be
- 14:31Speaker 9: there for a long time, then I'd be like, you
- 14:33Speaker 9: know what, forget it.
- 14:34Speaker 2: Bottom up.
- 14:36Speaker 9: It's something, you know, whatever, I'm going to drink what
- 14:39Speaker 9: I want to drink. It's non alcoholic. But if he
- 14:42Speaker 9: wants to stick around, I think you just kind of
- 14:44Speaker 9: have to play their game and be like fine.
- 14:46Speaker 3: Yeah, it does really put a bulls eye on you,
- 14:49Speaker 3: I think for anything in the future.
- 14:51Speaker 5: Because again, once you bring it to HR, then they
- 14:53Speaker 5: have to create the paper tray and all of a
- 14:55Speaker 5: sudden it's documented. And yeah, you make a really good
- 14:58Speaker 5: point too, Monica.
- 14:59Speaker 2: You're I'm putting you in camp. No, don't do it anymore.
- 15:04Speaker 2: Thank you, Monica. I'm gonna go ahead and do one
- 15:06Speaker 2: more call. Kelly's been holding forever. Hi, Kelly, Oh no,
- 15:12Speaker 2: it's this Kelly.
- 15:13Speaker 1: Perfect way to end. I want to know what you
- 15:16Speaker 1: think about this, Kelly.
- 15:17Speaker 2: Why do I feel like you do crack open cold
- 15:19Speaker 2: ones at work?
- 15:21Speaker 6: I have cold beer, Sammy Adams Port Rocker all day.
- 15:25Speaker 2: Boy, well done?
- 15:27Speaker 4: All right?
- 15:27Speaker 2: What are your thoughts on this guy? Is this a
- 15:29Speaker 2: yay or nay? You can drink non alcoholic.
- 15:31Speaker 6: At work, Well, if it's within the company guidelines, you
- 15:35Speaker 6: can do whatever you want, but you got to play smarter,
- 15:38Speaker 6: not harder. They I had a beer than cozy it up,
- 15:41Speaker 6: like Avery said, put a cozy on it. What are
- 15:44Speaker 6: you drinking a phantom?
