- 0:28SPEAKER_09: Is he really your mom's favorite thing?
- 0:34SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 0:34SPEAKER_09: You don't have to answer that.
- 0:35SPEAKER_02: Well, I mean, she has so many of them.
- 0:37SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 0:38SPEAKER_02: So I mean he's gonna shot.
- 0:42SPEAKER_02: But I think she's actually said that before.
- 0:44SPEAKER_09: Oh, has she?
- 0:45SPEAKER_02: I think.
- 0:46SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 0:46SPEAKER_02: Don't quote me on that.
- 0:47SPEAKER_02: But I think she said that.
- 0:49SPEAKER_02: Like when he first started like doing stuff for us.
- 0:51SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 0:52SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 0:52SPEAKER_09: So she's still he's my favorite nephew.
- 0:54SPEAKER_02: Yeah, but I think she might say that about all her nephews, too.
- 0:58SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 0:58SPEAKER_09: Well, as a as as an aunt, you probably should say that about.
- 1:02SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I mean, you know, I mean, my mom's my mom's a nice lady.
- 1:06SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:06SPEAKER_02: I mean, she's not gonna be like, nah, you're dumb.
- 1:11SPEAKER_09: Um, they adopted you.
- 1:15SPEAKER_09: Welcome to the O'Brien and Doug podcast.
- 1:17SPEAKER_09: I'm O'Brien.
- 1:18SPEAKER_09: I'm Doug.
- 1:19SPEAKER_09: It is episode 293.
- 1:21SPEAKER_09: I started this today.
- 1:22SPEAKER_09: Um, my my voice is giving I don't know if it's allergies if I'm getting Well, it's all floating around.
- 1:28SPEAKER_09: It is, your lawn looks like it snowed.
- 1:31SPEAKER_09: It's yeah, it does.
- 1:32SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:32SPEAKER_09: So um, but uh yeah, I noticed it today in uh uh when I was teaching, and I was like, either I'm getting sick or it's allergies, and I don't feel sick, so I think it's probably the allergies.
- 1:41SPEAKER_02: The pollen or whatever.
- 1:42SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:42SPEAKER_02: It's all over the place.
- 1:45SPEAKER_09: That'd be a lot of that tonight.
- 1:46SPEAKER_09: Sorry.
- 1:46SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:47SPEAKER_09: Um we got a lot to talk about.
- 1:49SPEAKER_09: We got some new music to listen to today.
- 1:51SPEAKER_09: Uh I have a kind of a neat uh post by Ultimate Classic Rock about 80s TV shows.
- 1:57SPEAKER_09: So we'll talk about that.
- 1:59SPEAKER_09: Noise.
- 2:00SPEAKER_09: Um and I want to know, because I had this is a is this the first time?
- 2:06unknown: No.
- 2:07SPEAKER_02: I think it's your first time.
- 2:08SPEAKER_09: Is it the first time?
- 2:08SPEAKER_02: I think so.
- 2:09SPEAKER_02: As far as I I know.
- 2:11SPEAKER_09: Uh first time I missed a gig for the Star City Syndicate.
- 2:14SPEAKER_09: Uh, it was a good reason.
- 2:16SPEAKER_09: Um my son's baccalaureate um celebration or ceremony uh was held uh Sunday night, and that was the kind of the opening of the season for the Star City Syndicate, and I'm I missed it.
- 2:31SPEAKER_09: So do tell.
- 2:33SPEAKER_09: You said it went well.
- 2:34SPEAKER_02: It went well.
- 2:35SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 2:35SPEAKER_02: I mean, you know, I mean the song selection was geared towards, you know, not soloing.
- 2:43SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 2:44SPEAKER_02: So, I mean, you know, I mean, Joel put together the set list and I thought he did a great job.
- 2:48SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 2:49SPEAKER_02: So uh it went over really well.
- 2:51SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 2:51SPEAKER_09: I mean, I don't even the Foo Fighters?
- 2:54SPEAKER_09: We didn't do it.
- 2:54SPEAKER_09: You didn't do it, no?
- 2:55SPEAKER_09: No.
- 2:55SPEAKER_09: Oh, okay.
- 2:56SPEAKER_02: No, we took a lot off.
- 2:57SPEAKER_02: Actually, it was on the set list and then we got to it, and then apparently they Omahawed it, and I was like, they didn't say anything to me because I I was ready to go.
- 3:06SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 3:07SPEAKER_02: And all of a sudden they started and I looked at Chris, I was like, Are we not doing that one?
- 3:10SPEAKER_02: It goes, Oh no, I forgot to tell you.
- 3:11SPEAKER_02: And I was like, Oh, yeah, I I should know these things.
- 3:13SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 3:14SPEAKER_09: So I saw that and I was like, that is not our audience.
- 3:16SPEAKER_09: That is not the syndicate audience.
- 3:18SPEAKER_09: That's a skinny album.
- 3:19SPEAKER_09: And I think that's why they nixed it.
- 3:21SPEAKER_09: So I would have lobbied for nixing it too.
- 3:23SPEAKER_09: Uh although I love the song.
- 3:24SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 3:25SPEAKER_09: You would have killed it, but um yeah.
- 3:28SPEAKER_02: Um but it was a good it was a it was a good crowd.
- 3:31SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 3:31SPEAKER_02: But it's probably one of the better crowds I've seen down there.
- 3:34SPEAKER_09: Really?
- 3:34SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 3:34SPEAKER_09: Because it's a small place.
- 3:35SPEAKER_09: I mean, yeah, it's very small.
- 3:37SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 3:37SPEAKER_09: Um, but we kind of open the season every year down there.
- 3:41SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 3:42SPEAKER_09: Uh it's like an unofficial, uh unofficial, it's like a soft opening.
- 3:46SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 3:46SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 3:47SPEAKER_09: Except we do it every year.
- 3:48SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 3:49SPEAKER_09: So we so we saw we softly open the season every year.
- 3:53SPEAKER_09: Yes.
- 3:53SPEAKER_09: Down the down that way.
- 3:54SPEAKER_02: Well, it's just to get our feet wet and get everything work out the kinks.
- 3:58SPEAKER_02: And but I mean, we were I mean, by the OJ said he was gonna get there like at two.
- 4:04SPEAKER_02: I got there at like 2.05.
- 4:06SPEAKER_02: What time did you play?
- 4:07SPEAKER_02: Four.
- 4:08SPEAKER_01: Oh, okay.
- 4:08SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 4:09SPEAKER_02: I got there already I got there at 2.05.
- 4:11SPEAKER_02: And Chris, Chris was like, Chris and I got there at the same time.
- 4:14SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 4:14SPEAKER_02: OJ had already been our OJ and Joel and Melissa were already there.
- 4:19SPEAKER_02: They had everything loaded in.
- 4:21SPEAKER_09: I was like, Of course they did.
- 4:23SPEAKER_02: So I mean, setup was super quick.
- 4:26SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 4:27SPEAKER_02: So I mean it was just like, you know, so we had like we had like once we sound checked it, we had like half an hour to just like sit around.
- 4:35SPEAKER_02: You know, so which is unusual because you know, right usually something goes wrong, but everything everything sounded good and good.
- 4:41SPEAKER_02: So it went well.
- 4:42SPEAKER_09: Good.
- 4:43SPEAKER_09: I'm glad to hear.
- 4:43SPEAKER_02: You were missed.
- 4:44SPEAKER_02: So um I had a lot of room.
- 4:47SPEAKER_02: Did you?
- 4:47SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and I didn't know what to do unless because Joel was like far away.
- 4:51SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 4:52SPEAKER_02: And Anthony was far away, and I was like, man, this is.
- 4:54SPEAKER_02: Did Mark go?
- 4:54SPEAKER_09: Was Mark there?
- 4:55SPEAKER_09: Yeah, Mark was there.
- 4:55SPEAKER_09: Mark was there.
- 4:56SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that was it was just weird having so much room.
- 4:57SPEAKER_02: I was like, this is this is not right.
- 4:59SPEAKER_09: Yeah, and there's not a lot of room on that stage anyway.
- 5:01SPEAKER_09: Exactly.
- 5:01SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 5:01SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 5:02SPEAKER_02: So I was like, what is happening?
- 5:04SPEAKER_02: But yeah, it went well.
- 5:05SPEAKER_09: Um Beckalaure went well as as well.
- 5:08SPEAKER_09: Good.
- 5:08SPEAKER_09: Um we had it only laughed at lasted about a half an hour, but we had a great turnout um for that class.
- 5:15SPEAKER_09: Um there was I think there's a hundred and I don't know how many kids are in that class, 130 something, 140 something.
- 5:23SPEAKER_09: And we had about 30 of them show up.
- 5:25SPEAKER_01: Oh, so what?
- 5:26SPEAKER_09: Um to Baccalaureate.
- 5:28SPEAKER_09: And so I did a reading.
- 5:31SPEAKER_09: Eli did a reading.
- 5:33SPEAKER_09: Uh actually I what mine wasn't really a reading, it was a parents' message or something like that to the seniors.
- 5:40SPEAKER_09: So uh that was that went it went well.
- 5:42SPEAKER_09: And then we had food at the KFC afterwards for all the seniors and their families and stuff.
- 5:47SPEAKER_02: So Oh, I thought for a second I thought you said KFC.
- 5:50SPEAKER_09: No, K Knights of Columbus.
- 5:51SPEAKER_02: Yes, I thought I was like, hmm.
- 5:53SPEAKER_02: What'd you have?
- 5:54SPEAKER_02: Taco Bell?
- 5:56SPEAKER_02: Or did you have an actual KFC?
- 5:58SPEAKER_09: So yeah, uh, you know, I I I would have liked to have been at the at the gig, but it was it was better for me to be where I was.
- 6:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I mean, you know, you gotta have priorities.
- 6:06SPEAKER_02: Sure.
- 6:06SPEAKER_02: Yeah, absolutely.
- 6:07SPEAKER_09: But I'm there for the next one.
- 6:08SPEAKER_09: Yeah, Mapleton Days.
- 6:10SPEAKER_09: Mapleton Days.
- 6:12SPEAKER_09: Um, and where so we give away croissants.
- 6:15SPEAKER_02: We we do?
- 6:16SPEAKER_02: Did you see that picture?
- 6:18SPEAKER_09: Oh yeah, jeez.
- 6:19SPEAKER_09: I and I and I I haven't told you this.
- 6:22SPEAKER_09: I haven't told you this, but I am uh swearing off AI for our um duo advertisements.
- 6:30SPEAKER_09: Uh you remember how I I've been using I've been using using AI.
- 6:34SPEAKER_02: They all look the same.
- 6:35SPEAKER_02: Yeah, they're they are you you can it's it's painfully obvious in AI.
- 6:39SPEAKER_09: Yeah, they all look the same.
- 6:41SPEAKER_09: So I went back to using our picture, which probab I don't know if that'll hurt us or not.
- 6:45SPEAKER_09: But I uh I don't know what's ugly.
- 6:51SPEAKER_09: Um what is this dog and pony show?
- 6:53SPEAKER_09: You should go check it out.
- 6:54SPEAKER_09: Literally, dog and dog show.
- 6:57SPEAKER_09: So uh yeah, I'm not gonna use AI anymore.
- 6:59SPEAKER_09: I just I you know it it all looks the same.
- 7:01SPEAKER_09: Yeah, yeah.
- 7:03SPEAKER_09: So um uh what else was I gonna say?
- 7:07SPEAKER_09: Uh this uh week uh is class day.
- 7:10SPEAKER_09: It's a big senior week for Eli.
- 7:13SPEAKER_09: So we've got class day on when uh Thursday.
- 7:16SPEAKER_09: Uh I'm lucky in that I got uh I I I'm doing a half day, so I'm teaching in the morning, but then because I think class day starts at eleven.
- 7:27SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 7:28SPEAKER_09: And and it lasts a good three hours anyway.
- 7:30SPEAKER_02: Oh wow, yeah.
- 7:31SPEAKER_02: That's when they get away all the scholarships.
- 7:32SPEAKER_09: All the scholarships, yeah.
- 7:33SPEAKER_02: Well that w well, I mean that cuts down on graduation.
- 7:36SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 7:36SPEAKER_02: So I'm all for that.
- 7:39SPEAKER_09: So so I'm gonna go attend class day, and then his graduation is Friday night, and then I well, we uh first of all are playing at Project Grad.
- 7:49SPEAKER_09: We're volunteering our time uh for a a little while.
- 7:53SPEAKER_09: Well, you are, I'm getting paid.
- 7:55SPEAKER_09: Are you?
- 7:57SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 8:02SPEAKER_09: I guess I should talk to somebody.
- 8:03SPEAKER_02: Eli was like, I'll give you a buck.
- 8:05SPEAKER_09: I was like, cool, man.
- 8:06SPEAKER_09: Um and then I'm there all night.
- 8:09SPEAKER_09: So that should be great.
- 8:10SPEAKER_09: That should be fun.
- 8:11SPEAKER_09: I can't wait.
- 8:14SPEAKER_09: Uh Eli was supposed to uh Eli qualified for States in track and field and he was States is Saturday in Freeport.
- 8:26SPEAKER_09: So he uh opted to because he and he was injured all season.
- 8:31SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 8:32SPEAKER_09: Although he had a great uh final couple track meets um, you know, I think the relay team that he had won um or it got second place or something like that.
- 8:42SPEAKER_09: So so he got injured in the first track meet, didn't compete uh all season, right?
- 8:48SPEAKER_09: And then the last couple track meets he came back and he did really well.
- 8:52SPEAKER_09: And he's like, I'm not gonna do states.
- 8:56SPEAKER_09: He's just you know, go out on a high note because he knows that when he gets down there, you're going against all these big schools.
- 9:04SPEAKER_09: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 9:04SPEAKER_09: And you know, he does the ja the javelin and he does really well.
- 9:08SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 9:09SPEAKER_09: But he knows he's not gonna Yeah, there's no sense in it.
- 9:13SPEAKER_09: Yeah, there's no sense in doing it.
- 9:14SPEAKER_02: So there's really no incentive, I mean, really.
- 9:17SPEAKER_02: You know, just you know Plus he's gonna be dead tired.
- 9:19SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah.
- 9:19SPEAKER_02: He's gonna be up all night and some of them are going.
- 9:21SPEAKER_09: Some of them his friends are going.
- 9:24SPEAKER_09: Uh they have a bus that's leaving later in the day for them.
- 9:28SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 9:28SPEAKER_09: Um, so it'd be interesting to see.
- 9:31SPEAKER_09: See how they do.
- 9:32SPEAKER_09: But he he's decided not to.
- 9:33SPEAKER_02: There goes Smith.
- 9:34SPEAKER_02: He goes down the track.
- 9:35SPEAKER_02: Oh, he fell over.
- 9:36SPEAKER_02: We're checking on him now.
- 9:37SPEAKER_02: Oh, he's dead asleep.
- 9:39SPEAKER_09: I think he's passed out.
- 9:41SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 9:42SPEAKER_09: So I think it's the right decision for him for him anyway.
- 9:44SPEAKER_02: No, I don't blame him.
- 9:45SPEAKER_09: Uh he gets to sleep all day Saturday.
- 9:47SPEAKER_09: Actually, until he's he's gotta work with me.
- 9:49SPEAKER_09: He's gotta work in the midday, so maybe he'll sleep through the morning.
- 9:52SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 9:54SPEAKER_09: Thank you for the uh sparkling ice, by the way.
- 9:56SPEAKER_09: Lifesavers.
- 9:58SPEAKER_02: They're always good.
- 9:59SPEAKER_09: Doug brings me one every podcast.
- 10:02SPEAKER_02: Yes, it's the price of admission.
- 10:04SPEAKER_02: If I don't, I don't get to be on the podcast.
- 10:06SPEAKER_09: Wait, that's your role, not me.
- 10:08SPEAKER_02: That is just that is just the O'Brien podcast.
- 10:10SPEAKER_09: Correct.
- 10:11SPEAKER_02: And that would be that would be boring.
- 10:12SPEAKER_02: I'm out in the driveway going, hey, what are you doing?
- 10:15SPEAKER_09: That would be boring as all getting.
- 10:17SPEAKER_02: What are you guys talking about?
- 10:18SPEAKER_02: It's just me down here, Moran.
- 10:20SPEAKER_02: Hey no, what are you talking about?
- 10:22SPEAKER_09: Uh what else?
- 10:24SPEAKER_09: What else is going on?
- 10:25SPEAKER_09: Um blah blah blah.
- 10:27SPEAKER_09: Oh, that's what I was gonna ask you.
- 10:28SPEAKER_09: So they posted the Star City Syndicate summer schedule.
- 10:34SPEAKER_09: When was the washburn one put on there?
- 10:36SPEAKER_09: Did you know that?
- 10:38SPEAKER_02: What washburn one?
- 10:39SPEAKER_09: We're playing Washburn.
- 10:41SPEAKER_09: Say again.
- 10:41SPEAKER_09: It's it wasn't on my calendar.
- 10:44SPEAKER_09: So I was like, and I don't remember him asking about he probably did.
- 10:49SPEAKER_09: And we probably all just said, yeah, let's do it, book it.
- 10:52SPEAKER_09: You know, like we normally do.
- 10:53SPEAKER_02: Well probably, yeah.
- 10:54SPEAKER_09: I was about to say that's but I finally put it on my calendar um because I uh let's see, so it was it's in August, I think.
- 11:04SPEAKER_09: Yes, so we have the Acadian Festival Friday, and then we have Washburn August Festival Saturday, the 15th of August.
- 11:11SPEAKER_09: Do you have that on your calendar?
- 11:13SPEAKER_02: Oh, I do, yeah.
- 11:13SPEAKER_09: You do?
- 11:14SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 11:15SPEAKER_09: No, I mean on this.
- 11:16SPEAKER_09: Oh, you're looking at the syndicate?
- 11:18SPEAKER_02: Well, I'm looking at that post that came out today.
- 11:21SPEAKER_09: I did I did I guess I missed it.
- 11:23SPEAKER_09: Yeah, I didn't have that on my calendar, so I don't know if that was a late edition or or what.
- 11:28SPEAKER_09: And I don't remember him.
- 11:30SPEAKER_09: I mean, it's not a big deal.
- 11:30SPEAKER_09: No, it's not.
- 11:31SPEAKER_09: No, no.
- 11:31SPEAKER_09: It's not a big deal.
- 11:32SPEAKER_09: I'm glad.
- 11:33SPEAKER_09: I mean, we added we added to the schedule, so that's good.
- 11:35SPEAKER_02: We got a little we got a few more, a few more dates than before.
- 11:38SPEAKER_09: So I just, you know, I completely missed it.
- 11:41SPEAKER_09: So no biggie.
- 11:43SPEAKER_01: Nah.
- 11:43SPEAKER_09: Uh be good.
- 11:45SPEAKER_09: I have a couple of uh Van Halen things.
- 11:50SPEAKER_09: Van Halen things and things.
- 11:53SPEAKER_09: Uh the first of which um is uh this article on Ultimate Classic Rock.
- 12:00SPEAKER_09: The Jesus in the Mary Chain, are you familiar with them?
- 12:02SPEAKER_09: Yes.
- 12:03SPEAKER_09: The Jesus in the Mary Chain's William Reed says Eddie Van Halen ruined rock guitar.
- 12:09SPEAKER_09: Now, just at that headline, do you think you know what he means?
- 12:13SPEAKER_02: Well, I think he meant ruin in a good way.
- 12:18SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 12:18SPEAKER_09: Explain.
- 12:20SPEAKER_02: Well, because we were stuck in disco at that point when Eddie came out.
- 12:24SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 12:25SPEAKER_09: That's not what he means.
- 12:27SPEAKER_09: Any other angle, you think?
- 12:28SPEAKER_02: Hard to tell.
- 12:29SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 12:30SPEAKER_02: Because, you know, it's somebody from an interrelevant band.
- 12:33SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 12:33SPEAKER_02: So.
- 12:34SPEAKER_09: Um Let's see.
- 12:37SPEAKER_09: With his expertise.
- 12:38SPEAKER_09: He ruined rock guitar with his expertise.
- 12:40SPEAKER_09: The brothers and co-founders of the Scottish all rock band Jesus and the Mary Chain, whose combination of 60s pop melodies and noisy guitar squalls became a cornerstone of shoe gays in the eighties.
- 12:51SPEAKER_09: Uh they expressed their disdain for Van Halen in an interview with Stereo Gum last weekend.
- 12:57SPEAKER_09: They said, Jim Reed, the band's lead singer, uh, explained how minimalism and a relative lack of technical knowledge can shape a guitarist's style for the better.
- 13:09SPEAKER_09: Uh not having a lot of equipment actually forces you to be more inventive.
- 13:13SPEAKER_09: I can play guitar, but only just.
- 13:15SPEAKER_09: It's kind of deliberate.
- 13:17SPEAKER_09: I play guitar to the level that I need to play guitar.
- 13:19SPEAKER_09: And sometimes knowing too much about making music gets in the way, and it ends up back to Eddie Van Halen again.
- 13:25SPEAKER_09: Do you know what I mean?
- 13:26SPEAKER_09: Um I think guitar players should never learn scales.
- 13:32SPEAKER_09: Uh I think the worst guitar players in the world, like Eddie Van Halen, I can't stand Eddie Van Halen's guitar playing.
- 13:38SPEAKER_09: I think he ruined rock guitar all through the 80s and 90s because so many people copied him.
- 13:42SPEAKER_09: And I just couldn't get any of that playing as fast as you can F and can and cram in as many notes in one second as you could.
- 13:49SPEAKER_09: And I listened to Peter Hook's bass riffs, and I think that's a thousand times better than anything Eddie Van Halen could ever conjure up.
- 13:57SPEAKER_09: So that's you know, this those are big words.
- 14:00SPEAKER_02: Well, it sounds like I'm not a very good guitar player, so I'm going to make excuses for it.
- 14:06SPEAKER_09: Well, here's the thing.
- 14:08SPEAKER_09: I think I understand what he means.
- 14:11SPEAKER_02: Oh, I get it.
- 14:12SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 14:12SPEAKER_02: I just, you know, I'm just, it sounds a little, you know, like it's, you know, a little bit of uh bittern bitterness.
- 14:20SPEAKER_09: And they kind of they kind of got it too.
- 14:22SPEAKER_09: They said, for what it's worth, it sounds like William Reed doesn't actually hate Eddie Van Halen.
- 14:25SPEAKER_09: Rather, he hates Rat, Poison, and the myriad of other metal glam bands whose fiery league guitarists were nipping at Van Halen's heels.
- 14:34SPEAKER_09: I get that.
- 14:35SPEAKER_09: Yeah, I get it.
- 14:36SPEAKER_02: I think it kind of buried them in the noise.
- 14:38SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 14:39SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 14:39SPEAKER_09: And it was like even I can only take so much of the fast playing.
- 14:45SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 14:45SPEAKER_09: You know, it's like uh I remember an interview with Vince Gill, completely different, you know, genre, obviously.
- 14:52SPEAKER_09: But he said that when he was when he was doing a session and he was a young he was young, a young guitar player, he went into the studio and the and and the the producer, you know, was recording.
- 15:08SPEAKER_09: And uh so he did this solo, just really flashy and whatever.
- 15:14SPEAKER_09: And the producer said to him, that was really great.
- 15:17SPEAKER_09: You're a great player.
- 15:18SPEAKER_09: Now play me half of what you know.
- 15:21SPEAKER_09: It's like sometimes you put too much in there because that's not necessary.
- 15:25SPEAKER_09: Yeah, you know.
- 15:26SPEAKER_09: So I I get that.
- 15:28SPEAKER_09: But I think that's I think his statement was taking it to a to an extreme.
- 15:33SPEAKER_09: It's like, you know, how can you not appreciate Eddie Van Halen's playing?
- 15:39SPEAKER_09: You know?
- 15:39SPEAKER_02: I mean Well, maybe it's you're not necessarily just you know, pr n it's not an app disappreciation, if that's even a word.
- 15:46SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 15:47SPEAKER_02: I think I just invented it.
- 15:48SPEAKER_09: Unappreciative.
- 15:49SPEAKER_09: Uh unappreciative?
- 15:49SPEAKER_09: No.
- 15:50SPEAKER_09: Yeah, whatever.
- 15:50SPEAKER_09: Yeah, well.
- 15:51SPEAKER_09: I like disappreciated.
- 15:52SPEAKER_09: Disappreciate.
- 15:53SPEAKER_02: Um But yeah, I think you're right.
- 15:56SPEAKER_02: It's like, you know, then everybody else started copying, and then it was like, you know, it was like a sea of copycats.
- 16:02SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 16:02SPEAKER_02: So I gotta I I I kind of see that point of it.
- 16:05SPEAKER_09: Yeah, I do too.
- 16:06SPEAKER_02: But it really just sounds like um, you know, he's better than me.
- 16:10SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 16:11SPEAKER_02: But I mean, that seems to be the underlying tone a little bit.
- 16:14SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 16:15SPEAKER_09: Almost like this is the standard.
- 16:17SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 16:17SPEAKER_09: And I'll never reach it.
- 16:18SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 16:18SPEAKER_02: You know, I get to so I'm gonna, you know, I'm gonna tear him down to my level.
- 16:22SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 16:23SPEAKER_09: You know, so I don't know if there was that much malice in it, but I don't think so.
- 16:27SPEAKER_02: I think it was just, you know, I think he was like trying to be political about it, but yeah, you know, because he's you know, it's not very good to speak ill of the dead like that, but uh, you know.
- 16:37SPEAKER_09: But I mean, him him to say I hate Eddie Van Halen, you know, I don't think he hates it.
- 16:41SPEAKER_09: I think he hates what Eddie Van Halen meant to uh bands like his.
- 16:46SPEAKER_09: Yeah, it could be.
- 16:47SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 16:47SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 16:48SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 16:48SPEAKER_09: So um speaking of Van Halen, so we had talked about how uh Al Van Halen is working with Steve Lukathur uh on some um new old Van Halen music.
- 17:01SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 17:02SPEAKER_09: Stuff from the archives.
- 17:03SPEAKER_09: And there was stuff going around, and we were like, that's not even what they said, you know, and so Steve Lukather is not playing on any of this stuff.
- 17:11SPEAKER_09: Well, Steve Lukather did an interview after meeting with Al and kind of going over stuff because they're working on this new project or whatever it is.
- 17:21SPEAKER_09: And he uh so in this interview he says uh, and it's a lot of swears because I mean it is Luther.
- 17:28SPEAKER_09: Well, it's Lukather.
- 17:29SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 17:30SPEAKER_09: Um he did want to stress that uh it will feature substantial archival work from Eddie and none of his own playing.
- 17:37SPEAKER_09: So he and he said that from the beginning.
- 17:39SPEAKER_09: I'm not playing a note on any of this.
- 17:42SPEAKER_09: Uh but then he said, I'm telling you, this is not throwaway crap.
- 17:48SPEAKER_09: He said, uh when I heard them, I said to Al, How effing come you didn't use these?
- 17:55SPEAKER_09: And the answer was because nobody could write to it.
- 17:57SPEAKER_09: So if you think this is a bunch of throwaway crap that we're trying to Mickey Mouse together to suck the dollar out of poor unsuspecting Van Halen fans, it's not.
- 18:06SPEAKER_09: He said he couldn't provide any many more details, but emphasized that these vault tracks are much more than table scraps.
- 18:12SPEAKER_09: These are effing finished tracks with Ed and Al, and Ed's playing bass on a lot of it.
- 18:18SPEAKER_09: That's all I can say right now because it's a much bigger picture and it's Al's story to tell.
- 18:23SPEAKER_09: There will be no Toto fingerprints on uh on this Van Halen thing.
- 18:27SPEAKER_09: And he said.
- 18:39SPEAKER_09: First off, that's the most ridiculous, ridiculous and humorous thing I've ever heard, Lukuther told guitar player.
- 18:44SPEAKER_09: I am no more qualified to try and play like any Van Halen than I am to be the first man to tug my blank on the on the planet.
- 18:53SPEAKER_09: I don't know how anybody could think that would would even be a reality.
- 18:57SPEAKER_09: It's laughable.
- 18:57SPEAKER_09: I don't play, I couldn't, I don't play like Ed.
- 19:00SPEAKER_09: It's crazy.
- 19:01SPEAKER_09: Um so I think that is um I think that is good news for Van Halen fans.
- 19:09SPEAKER_09: So whatever they're coming up with, according to this, and I didn't I didn't read it in this article, but I've read another article where he says it's done.
- 19:18SPEAKER_09: I mean, Ed's playing bass on some of it, Wolfgang's playing base on some of it, but these tracks are finished tracks, they just don't have vocals.
- 19:24SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 19:25SPEAKER_09: Um so they said Paul Rogers, they tried to get Paul Rogers to sing on them and he declined.
- 19:32SPEAKER_09: I mean, how do you get anybody to sing on them?
- 19:35SPEAKER_09: Why why do they have to sing on them?
- 19:37SPEAKER_09: Can you put them out as the uh the way they are?
- 19:39SPEAKER_09: It could just be an instrument.
- 19:41SPEAKER_09: Could Wolfgang come and sing on them?
- 19:43SPEAKER_09: Oh yeah, Wolfie could do it.
- 19:44SPEAKER_09: Right?
- 19:44SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 19:45SPEAKER_09: Um actually that'd be pretty cool.
- 19:47SPEAKER_09: It would be kind of cool.
- 19:48SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 19:48SPEAKER_09: You know, um, I don't know how that I don't know how that would go over because I think he's trying to distance himself from Van Halen.
- 19:55SPEAKER_09: Uh meaning like he's got his own thing, right?
- 19:58SPEAKER_02: He does, but I mean this is something completely different.
- 20:03SPEAKER_02: He's got three albums under his belt now.
- 20:05SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 20:06SPEAKER_02: So I mean he's as right he's established himself as his own artist, so why not, you know, right honor his dad in some way.
- 20:15SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 20:15SPEAKER_02: So yeah.
- 20:18SPEAKER_09: Yeah, I still say you get Sammy in there.
- 20:20SPEAKER_02: It'd be sweet, but it's never gonna happen.
- 20:22SPEAKER_09: It's never gonna happen.
- 20:24SPEAKER_09: But uh anyway.
- 20:26SPEAKER_09: Um what could have been?
- 20:29SPEAKER_09: So yeah, there's there's my Van Halen News.
- 20:32SPEAKER_09: Um I have a bunch of new music.
- 20:35SPEAKER_02: Van Halen Network.
- 20:37SPEAKER_09: Uh that's an actual website.
- 20:39SPEAKER_02: What, Van Halen News Network?
- 20:41SPEAKER_09: Van Halen News Desk, actually.
- 20:42SPEAKER_02: That's where they I like News Network better.
- 20:44SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 20:45SPEAKER_02: News Desk.
- 20:46SPEAKER_02: That's dumb.
- 20:47SPEAKER_02: Don't even have a desk.
- 20:49SPEAKER_02: But it's just a website.
- 20:51SPEAKER_09: It is.
- 20:52SPEAKER_02: Yeah, see?
- 20:53SPEAKER_09: Dumb.
- 20:54SPEAKER_09: Okay, do you want to do the uh 80s TV show thing or do you want to hear some new music first?
- 20:59SPEAKER_02: Let's hear some new music.
- 21:00SPEAKER_09: Okay, so we talked all a lot about uh Peter Gabriel and what he's doing with Yes, we just had a full moon.
- 21:07SPEAKER_09: Yeah, we just had a full moon, so he's got a new song out.
- 21:10SPEAKER_09: Um it's called A Hard Lesson.
- 21:12SPEAKER_09: Um bright side or dark side?
- 21:14SPEAKER_09: Well let's see.
- 21:15SPEAKER_09: I'm trying to I'm trying to uh skim the skim the um article here.
- 21:21SPEAKER_09: Um I was falling in love with the music I heard there.
- 21:28SPEAKER_09: I was talking about he's talking about West Africa uh in the late 80s, early 90s.
- 21:33SPEAKER_09: Remember when he did Biko and stuff like that?
- 21:35SPEAKER_09: I was falling in love with the music I heard there.
- 21:37SPEAKER_09: I love the tension created by the use of polyrhythms.
- 21:40SPEAKER_09: Um hadn't completed the song until recently.
- 21:44SPEAKER_09: Sometimes things take time, most people do stuff a lot faster, but I have no problem with understanding my own process.
- 21:51SPEAKER_09: Uh like the other OI songs Gabriel has released, a hard lesson will eventually have two mixes a bright side mix and a dark side mix to The bright side is available to listen to below.
- 22:03SPEAKER_09: So this is the bright side mix of a hard lesson by Peter Gabriel from his OI album.
- 22:14SPEAKER_09: Or this is a commercial.
- 22:15SPEAKER_02: It's always a commercial.
- 22:16SPEAKER_09: I thought they wouldn't they no, we've always had these.
- 22:19SPEAKER_09: Never mind.
- 22:20SPEAKER_02: No, they don't have any hands.
- 22:28SPEAKER_11: I was just gonna say, I like it.
- 23:11SPEAKER_09: It's a blue song, it is.
- 24:12SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 24:14SPEAKER_02: I like it though.
- 24:16SPEAKER_02: It's blues Peter Gabrielized.
- 24:18SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 24:25SPEAKER_09: You know, his album uh So you know that album?
- 24:29SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 24:30SPEAKER_09: That's a masterpiece.
- 24:30SPEAKER_09: Oh yeah, in my opinion.
- 24:32SPEAKER_09: It really is.
- 24:37SPEAKER_09: Speaking of masterpieces, I heard um I follow this guy on both Instagram and Facebook, um named uh well the the the the page is Kicking Herald.
- 24:49SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 24:49SPEAKER_09: And he does he does like uh rock news and stuff like that, but in little bites, and he does like uh like um uh did you know that uh uh uh you have to try and guess um what he's talking about, and then at the end he kind of reveals what he's talking about.
- 25:06SPEAKER_02: He does like a Paul Harvey thing.
- 25:08SPEAKER_09: Well, it's it's kind of like uh he'll say this band in the 80s uh went into the studio and this happened, and um the microphone was too uh was broken, and uh what they came up with was this and this and and then they he plays the song at the end and basically Paul Harvey.
- 25:27SPEAKER_09: Yeah, you have to get it.
- 25:28SPEAKER_02: And that boy's name was Right.
- 25:30SPEAKER_09: George Walking.
- 25:31SPEAKER_09: Exactly.
- 25:32SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 25:33SPEAKER_09: Uh but it's really cool.
- 25:34SPEAKER_09: Anyway, he he posted a thing where he listened to uh the new Paul McCartney album.
- 25:38SPEAKER_09: Oh uh Boys of Dungeon Lane.
- 25:41SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 25:41SPEAKER_09: Uh and he said it was a masterpiece.
- 25:44SPEAKER_09: And so I listened to I want to say six songs off of it today.
- 25:50SPEAKER_09: I wouldn't call it a masterpiece.
- 25:52SPEAKER_09: It's Paul McCartney, and it's really good.
- 25:55SPEAKER_09: Um I liked three of the songs, I think, that that I listened to.
- 26:00SPEAKER_09: Uh including the one with Ringo.
- 26:01SPEAKER_09: I like that one.
- 26:02SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 26:02SPEAKER_09: Um my daughter was with me and she she really liked one called Ripples in the Pond.
- 26:07SPEAKER_09: Um but some of it's just I mean it's Paul McCartney and he's in he's experimenting and you know, he's what, 83?
- 26:17SPEAKER_09: 82, 83.
- 26:19SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 26:20SPEAKER_09: And I told her that, and she she's I thought this is this is new stuff from Paul McCartney.
- 26:24SPEAKER_09: She's like, from the Beatles?
- 26:25SPEAKER_09: I said, Yeah, he's eighty-three years old.
- 26:27SPEAKER_09: She looks at me and she's like, What?
- 26:29SPEAKER_09: I said, Yeah.
- 26:30SPEAKER_09: I said, he's still out touring, playing on stages, and putting out songs like this one.
- 26:36SPEAKER_09: And I said, And he's eighty-three.
- 26:38SPEAKER_09: And Grammy's eighty-two.
- 26:42SPEAKER_09: You know.
- 26:43SPEAKER_02: Well, one of those men had a much significantly harder life.
- 26:47SPEAKER_02: Of course.
- 26:48SPEAKER_02: You know.
- 26:48SPEAKER_09: Yes, of course.
- 26:49SPEAKER_02: There's there's being a rock star, and then there's being a working electrician.
- 26:53SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 26:53SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 26:54SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 26:55SPEAKER_02: Owning a lot of people.
- 26:56SPEAKER_02: One is a little bit harder on the body than the other.
- 26:59SPEAKER_09: You know what I'm saying?
- 27:00SPEAKER_09: So no question.
- 27:01SPEAKER_09: And yeah, and then that's a good point.
- 27:02SPEAKER_09: I mean, we we always talk about how Sammy Hagar, you know, we love the lifestyle that Sammy Hagar lives, you know.
- 27:08SPEAKER_09: He's just he's always living well, he can afford to live it up.
- 27:12SPEAKER_02: That's that's the thing.
- 27:13SPEAKER_02: I mean, you gotta you gotta look at it in that through that prism.
- 27:16SPEAKER_02: You know, you know, you're like, yeah, well, he wasn't, you know, putting up drywall six days a week and then working on, you know, Saturday nights or something, you know.
- 27:25SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 27:25SPEAKER_09: Come on.
- 27:26SPEAKER_09: He's doing what he well he's doing what he's doing at 78, 79 years old because he had a pretty cushy life.
- 27:32SPEAKER_09: Uh eventually.
- 27:33SPEAKER_02: I mean, not not an easy life, but it but it was it was it what it was No, his early life was not easy.
- 27:39SPEAKER_09: I know that.
- 27:40SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 27:40SPEAKER_02: But once he made it big, it was like significantly easy.
- 27:44SPEAKER_09: He did okay.
- 27:44SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 27:45SPEAKER_09: Yeah, he did okay.
- 27:46SPEAKER_09: So yeah, no.
- 27:47SPEAKER_09: Anyway, uh new stuff from Peter Gabriel, good stuff, I think.
- 27:50SPEAKER_09: I liked it.
- 27:51SPEAKER_09: Excuse me.
- 27:52SPEAKER_09: Um hard lesson.
- 27:54SPEAKER_09: And so we have speaking of blues, Billy Gibbons has teamed up with Keith Urban, interestingly, uh, on a song called Brown Paper Bag.
- 28:08SPEAKER_09: Um let's see.
- 28:11SPEAKER_09: Playing some good guitar.
- 28:14SPEAKER_09: Delightfully crunchy and catchy uh is what the Ultimate Classic Rock has described it as.
- 28:20SPEAKER_09: So let's hear a little bit of the Brown Paper Bag.
- 28:24SPEAKER_09: I want to find out, well, I'll I'll look at it while it's playing and see uh where we can find it, whether it's on his album or or what.
- 29:55SPEAKER_09: I don't know where Keith Urban comes in.
- 29:58SPEAKER_09: Maybe that's him.
- 30:00SPEAKER_09: Maybe anyway, uh according to this, his last full-length solo effort was back in 2021 called Hardware.
- 30:10SPEAKER_09: Uh he's released a handful of singles since, including uh Livinged It Up in Texas and Too Much Girl for Me from 2025, which was in a 2022 collaboration with the Time singer Morris Day.
- 30:27SPEAKER_09: Just seems like an odd pairing to me, but his last Yeah, but when you're Billy Gibbons, you can work with any of this.
- 30:33SPEAKER_09: This is true.
- 30:33SPEAKER_09: So ZZ Top has uh hasn't released a studio album since 2012's La Futura.
- 30:40SPEAKER_09: Uh he's 76.
- 30:43SPEAKER_02: Um Kevin, to be fair, Billy Gibbons has always looked like he was 76.
- 30:51SPEAKER_09: This is true.
- 30:52SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 30:52SPEAKER_09: He's, you know, the only thing that he's done since the 80s is lost weight.
- 30:59SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 30:59SPEAKER_09: You know, because when they were doing like legs and stuff like that, he wasn't a very big man.
- 31:03SPEAKER_09: He was tall, he's a tall guy.
- 31:05SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 31:05SPEAKER_09: But he was stalkier.
- 31:07SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 31:07SPEAKER_09: And now he's like a stick.
- 31:08SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 31:09SPEAKER_09: You know, it's like I think he stoops because the guitar is heavier and heat.
- 31:13SPEAKER_09: I think you're right.
- 31:14SPEAKER_09: So I think you're right.
- 31:15SPEAKER_09: But yeah, I mean, you can't tell he's had that beard since the late 70s.
- 31:19SPEAKER_09: Right, forever.
- 31:19SPEAKER_09: Late 70s.
- 31:20SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 31:20SPEAKER_02: At least.
- 31:21SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 31:22SPEAKER_09: So um and it's this is your typical Billy Gibbons Z Top Fair.
- 31:27SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you can tell that guitar tone.
- 31:29SPEAKER_09: Oh, yeah.
- 31:29SPEAKER_02: You know.
- 31:30SPEAKER_09: Yeah, for sure.
- 31:31SPEAKER_09: Um, cool stuff.
- 31:32SPEAKER_09: Brown paper bag uh from Billy Gibbons and Keith Urban.
- 31:36SPEAKER_09: Apparently.
- 31:37SPEAKER_09: Apparently.
- 31:38SPEAKER_09: No idea what he's doing.
- 31:39SPEAKER_09: Uh I think he's probably just playing guitar.
- 31:41SPEAKER_09: Probably.
- 31:42SPEAKER_09: Um, okay, so we heard heard all these rumors about Greta Van Fleet, how they were uh being kind of cryptic in their posting, and they said that uh thanks for all for for everything.
- 31:52SPEAKER_09: Um and everybody thought they broke up, and then they said, uh, hey, here's the new song.
- 31:58SPEAKER_09: And and they've got a new record coming, I guess.
- 32:01SPEAKER_09: Uh are you familiar with Greta Van Fleet?
- 32:03SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I I like the first album.
- 32:05SPEAKER_02: That was it.
- 32:05SPEAKER_09: Um kind of tuned about our first album.
- 32:07SPEAKER_09: Yeah, very Led's album.
- 32:08SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 32:09SPEAKER_09: Um and I I can't knock that.
- 32:11SPEAKER_09: I mean, it's good to have a a band that's kind of carrying on that sound.
- 32:17SPEAKER_09: Um, but I don't um I don't subscribe to it really.
- 32:21SPEAKER_09: I mean it's it's I'm not gonna say it's bad.
- 32:24SPEAKER_02: Well like I said, the first album was good, but after that it just all started to sound the same.
- 32:27SPEAKER_09: How many albums have they had?
- 32:29SPEAKER_02: I think this is like the third or fourth album.
- 32:30SPEAKER_09: Is it?
- 32:31SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 32:31SPEAKER_09: Um anyway, they have a um the first new music since their Starcatcher album was released in 2023.
- 32:38SPEAKER_09: Um they have a new song called Play Your Games.
- 32:41SPEAKER_09: Uh, and we're gonna hear a little bit more of that.
- 32:45SPEAKER_09: They have a I think this is a video too, so let's see.
- 32:49SPEAKER_09: Oh, I'm waiting for the ad.
- 32:51SPEAKER_09: I'm smart this time.
- 32:53SPEAKER_09: Uh I I don't know.
- 32:55SPEAKER_09: I the the kind of the lead singer kind of creeps me out a little bit.
- 33:12SPEAKER_09: More Led Zeppelin.
- 33:13SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 33:48SPEAKER_02: Okay, that's a little screechy.
- 33:52SPEAKER_02: But it's Led Zeppelin.
- 33:55SPEAKER_02: It's like it's like if Robert Palmer was a petulant child.
- 34:00SPEAKER_02: Robert Plant?
- 34:01SPEAKER_02: Yes, dead.
- 34:03SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I mean it's got a Robert Plant esque voice.
- 34:08SPEAKER_02: I'm not talking about the voice, I'm talking about the song.
- 34:10SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, yeah, but I just the voice.
- 34:13SPEAKER_02: I don't like the voice on this one.
- 34:15SPEAKER_02: It's too screechy.
- 34:17SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 34:17SPEAKER_03: The trouble's begun.
- 34:22SPEAKER_03: It's good to go.
- 34:28SPEAKER_03: It's time for a show.
- 34:30SPEAKER_09: And again, you can look at that a couple of different ways.
- 34:33SPEAKER_09: You know, there's there's not a lot of there's no new new Led Zeppelin, right?
- 34:39SPEAKER_09: No.
- 34:40SPEAKER_09: So if you like Led Zeppelin in that kind of music, that they're kind of carrying the torch.
- 34:46SPEAKER_02: Uh yeah, his voice.
- 34:51SPEAKER_02: Shut it off.
- 34:51SPEAKER_02: I'm just his voice is driving me crazy.
- 34:54SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 34:55SPEAKER_09: Um, but you know, it's good that that music is is still there.
- 35:00SPEAKER_09: You know, it's still out there because, you know, for people that like that kind of music, that Led Zeppelin-ish uh or Led Zeppelin-esque music.
- 35:09SPEAKER_02: Uh but Yeah, if it wasn't for the vocals, this would be a really good song.
- 35:14SPEAKER_02: But it's a Led Zeppelin song.
- 35:16SPEAKER_02: I know, I know what you're saying.
- 35:18SPEAKER_02: I'm just saying his vocals suck.
- 35:20SPEAKER_02: I'm just I'm just gonna play it on saying his vocals suck in the song.
- 35:25SPEAKER_09: What song am I thinking of?
- 35:28SPEAKER_09: Any Led Zeppelin song?
- 35:29SPEAKER_09: Is it is it ramble on?
- 35:31SPEAKER_09: Ramble on.
- 35:34SPEAKER_09: I don't know.
- 35:35SPEAKER_09: I don't know.
- 35:35SPEAKER_09: Um anyway, uh I I'm not gonna say they're not a good band.
- 35:39SPEAKER_09: I mean they're a good band.
- 35:43SPEAKER_09: It's just starting to sound the same.
- 35:44SPEAKER_09: It is starting to sound the same.
- 35:46SPEAKER_09: Yeah, for sure.
- 35:47SPEAKER_02: Not in a good way.
- 35:48SPEAKER_09: Okay, let's get to this.
- 35:50SPEAKER_09: Can you identify these classic 1980s TV openings by one still frame?
- 35:57SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 35:57SPEAKER_09: I've looked at the first c couple, and you're gonna get them like like that.
- 36:01SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah.
- 36:01SPEAKER_09: There may be one or two.
- 36:03SPEAKER_09: I thank you.
- 36:04SPEAKER_09: There may be one or two that you don't get.
- 36:06SPEAKER_09: And this is just there's stills from the from the show.
- 36:09SPEAKER_09: Um there may be one or two that you don't get, but I think you I personally I think you're gonna get them all.
- 36:14SPEAKER_09: Because this is relatively easy, especially for our our generation.
- 36:18SPEAKER_09: Uh alright.
- 36:20SPEAKER_09: So, uh, what's that?
- 36:24SPEAKER_09: What show is that?
- 36:27SPEAKER_09: Yes, you do.
- 36:28SPEAKER_09: Do I?
- 36:29SPEAKER_09: Can you see?
- 36:32SPEAKER_02: Oh, it's 18th.
- 36:33SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 36:35SPEAKER_02: Well I couldn't tell.
- 36:37SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 36:37SPEAKER_02: See, right there he looks like it's like uh obviously there's a dude in like Mr.
- 36:42SPEAKER_09: T standing in a doorway.
- 36:43SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 36:43SPEAKER_09: So as soon as you see Mr.
- 36:44SPEAKER_09: T, then obviously you know it's the 18.
- 36:48SPEAKER_09: Uh well, yeah, well, while we're here, might as well might as well just uh play a little bit of play a little bit of the intro here.
- 36:58SPEAKER_04: In 1972, a cracked commando unit by a military court for a crime they didn't commit.
- 37:04SPEAKER_04: These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground.
- 37:08SPEAKER_04: Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune.
- 37:12SPEAKER_04: If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can fight them, maybe you can hire the 18.
- 37:25SPEAKER_09: I wish they still made TV like this.
- 37:27SPEAKER_09: I know, right?
- 37:28SPEAKER_09: And music like this too, like the old the the the theme music for all these AD shows was amazing.
- 37:33SPEAKER_02: Oh no, it's way better.
- 37:37SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 37:42SPEAKER_09: Oh, makes me want to go watch it.
- 37:45SPEAKER_02: I always I always liked that old when he was on Black uh Battlestar Galactica.
- 37:51SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah, yeah.
- 37:59SPEAKER_09: Murdoch.
- 38:01SPEAKER_09: Murdoch, the ballistics expert.
- 38:03SPEAKER_09: Alright, what's this one?
- 38:04SPEAKER_09: Can you see it?
- 38:08SPEAKER_02: It's from Oh, that's uh uh uh Family Ties.
- 38:11SPEAKER_09: It is Family Ties, yeah.
- 38:12SPEAKER_09: It is from the opening credits or the opening.
- 38:14SPEAKER_09: Well, I see Meredith Bernie Baxter.
- 38:16SPEAKER_09: Meredith Baxter Bernie.
- 38:18SPEAKER_10: Bernie, yeah, that's what it was.
- 38:23SPEAKER_09: It's just Johnny Mathis singing this.
- 38:25SPEAKER_09: Did you know that?
- 38:25SPEAKER_09: Oh, is it?
- 38:26SPEAKER_09: Yeah, I didn't know that.
- 38:28SPEAKER_11: I bet we've been together for a million years.
- 38:33SPEAKER_11: And I bet we'll be together.
- 38:35SPEAKER_09: That's not Johnny Mathis.
- 38:37SPEAKER_09: I was about to say, he's really up that false house.
- 38:40SPEAKER_09: I almost think it's Denise Williams.
- 38:42SPEAKER_09: She sings uh Let's Hear It For the Boy.
- 38:46SPEAKER_09: You mean disgraced former Miss America, Denise?
- 38:48SPEAKER_09: No, no, no.
- 38:49SPEAKER_09: No, that's uh Vanessa Williams.
- 38:51SPEAKER_09: Sorry.
- 38:54SPEAKER_09: Alright, so yeah, you got that one right.
- 38:56SPEAKER_09: So that's family ties.
- 38:57SPEAKER_09: Let's see if oh yeah, I know you'll get this one.
- 39:01SPEAKER_09: Again, from the opening credits.
- 39:04SPEAKER_09: A woman stepping out of the shower.
- 39:11SPEAKER_09: I got it.
- 39:14SPEAKER_02: I want to remember the woman getting out of the shower.
- 39:16SPEAKER_09: That's the mom.
- 39:18SPEAKER_09: And and and she was caught on camera getting out of the shower and she was mad.
- 39:26SPEAKER_09: Do you remember it?
- 39:28SPEAKER_02: No.
- 39:28SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 39:29SPEAKER_09: I'll shall I'll play it for you.
- 39:31SPEAKER_02: Oh, Alf.
- 39:34SPEAKER_09: Do you remember?
- 39:34SPEAKER_09: Do you remember the credits now?
- 39:36SPEAKER_09: Yes.
- 39:36SPEAKER_09: So he's going around with a video camera.
- 39:39SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 39:40SPEAKER_09: Or maybe it's not a video camera, maybe it's just his point of view.
- 39:43SPEAKER_09: No, no, it's the camera.
- 39:45SPEAKER_02: It is.
- 39:52SPEAKER_09: Yeah, there it is.
- 39:53SPEAKER_09: There it is.
- 39:54SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 39:56SPEAKER_09: I used to like that show too.
- 39:58SPEAKER_09: When I think about it, I actually watched a lot of TV when I was a kid.
- 40:03SPEAKER_09: Dukes Hazard.
- 40:04SPEAKER_09: Dukes a hazard.
- 40:05SPEAKER_09: That's an easy one.
- 40:06SPEAKER_09: We don't even have to think about that one.
- 40:12SPEAKER_00: Just a good old voice.
- 40:15SPEAKER_00: Never meeting.
- 40:16SPEAKER_00: Every Friday night.
- 40:17SPEAKER_00: Yes, sir.
- 40:18SPEAKER_00: That's what I was watching.
- 40:19SPEAKER_00: Yes, sir.
- 40:20SPEAKER_00: It's all you never saw any trouble with.
- 40:24SPEAKER_09: So nostalgic just watching this.
- 40:26SPEAKER_02: I know, right?
- 40:30SPEAKER_09: Or call Wayland Jennings singing the theme song.
- 40:34SPEAKER_09: Catherine Bach, Daisy Duke.
- 40:37SPEAKER_09: Daisy Duke.
- 40:40SPEAKER_00: Making the way.
- 40:43SPEAKER_09: Uncle Jesse.
- 40:44SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 40:47SPEAKER_09: Oh man.
- 40:48SPEAKER_09: That's so awesome.
- 40:50SPEAKER_09: Uh here.
- 40:51SPEAKER_09: See if you recognize that.
- 40:52SPEAKER_02: Oh, that was um uh Night Rider.
- 40:55SPEAKER_09: Night Rider.
- 40:55SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 40:56SPEAKER_09: It was.
- 40:57SPEAKER_09: I remember the theme song for that.
- 40:58SPEAKER_01: Dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun.
- 41:12SPEAKER_09: These are the kind of shows I watched.
- 41:15SPEAKER_00: A shadowy flight into the dangerous world of a man who does not exist.
- 41:20SPEAKER_09: There was a lot of crime shows.
- 41:22SPEAKER_09: You know, like Knight Rider, there was always a crime involved.
- 41:25SPEAKER_02: Yeah, but it was It were crime shows, but it was when you look back at it, it was like a little ridiculous.
- 41:31SPEAKER_02: Of course it was.
- 41:32SPEAKER_02: You know, because it's 1980 something.
- 41:35SPEAKER_02: You got a trans am that speaks to you.
- 41:38SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 41:38SPEAKER_10: The world of criminals.
- 41:39SPEAKER_09: What?
- 41:40SPEAKER_09: Yeah, but not only this.
- 41:41SPEAKER_09: So what I was gonna say is I used to watch a lot of shows like Magnum P.I.
- 41:47SPEAKER_09: Oh yeah.
- 41:47SPEAKER_09: Hunter.
- 41:48SPEAKER_09: Do you remember Hunter?
- 41:48SPEAKER_09: Yep.
- 41:49SPEAKER_09: Um uh Spencer for Hire.
- 41:51SPEAKER_09: These were all like dr uh dramas.
- 41:53SPEAKER_09: Yeah, crime dramas.
- 41:54SPEAKER_09: Crime dramas.
- 41:55SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 41:55SPEAKER_09: I loved them.
- 41:56SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 41:57SPEAKER_02: Simon and Simon, uh, Riptide.
- 41:59SPEAKER_02: I think it's because they were just kind of like they were so like milk toast.
- 42:03SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 42:03SPEAKER_02: You know, it wasn't like now it's like, you know, it was like really like intense now.
- 42:08SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 42:09SPEAKER_02: You know, because you got like you got like 87 FBI shows, oh yeah, 42 CSI.
- 42:14SPEAKER_09: I can't watch them.
- 42:15SPEAKER_09: You know, and they're all the same, basically.
- 42:17SPEAKER_09: I remember when CSI came out.
- 42:18SPEAKER_09: I enjoyed CSI, but then they had all these spin-offs.
- 42:22SPEAKER_02: Well, I it I got it got ridiculous when it was David Caruso.
- 42:26SPEAKER_02: He would just he just took himself so seriously.
- 42:28SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah.
- 42:28SPEAKER_02: Because he always had to do that corny line and put on his sunglasses at the same time.
- 42:32SPEAKER_02: You're like, oh come on, dude.
- 42:33SPEAKER_09: Yeah, it's you know, it got pretty ridiculous.
- 42:36SPEAKER_02: I wish Rambo had killed you in the first movie.
- 42:38SPEAKER_02: You know.
- 42:39SPEAKER_09: First one.
- 42:42SPEAKER_09: Do you recognize this one?
- 42:45SPEAKER_02: Well, that's an alien of some sort of spaceship, yeah.
- 42:52SPEAKER_09: By Joey Scarborough.
- 43:06SPEAKER_09: You will.
- 43:07SPEAKER_09: Because this is, I think, is just from the remember, it's just from the opening credits.
- 43:11SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 43:12SPEAKER_09: So congress.
- 43:18SPEAKER_09: We got lucky on the last couple.
- 43:22SPEAKER_02: Bro, greatest American hero.
- 43:24SPEAKER_02: I forgot about this.
- 43:25SPEAKER_02: Yeah, okay.
- 43:26SPEAKER_09: I used to love this.
- 43:26SPEAKER_02: That's how he got his powers.
- 43:28SPEAKER_09: Yes, yes, okay.
- 43:29SPEAKER_09: I used to love this show too.
- 43:31SPEAKER_09: Especially the theme song.
- 43:35SPEAKER_05: I can't believe it myself.
- 43:37SPEAKER_02: Yeah, the theme song is a theme song is the greatest part of this show, dude.
- 43:41SPEAKER_02: To be honest with you.
- 43:42SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it was yeah.
- 43:44SPEAKER_09: It was a campy, corny show, but it was it was good to watch.
- 43:48SPEAKER_02: It's a fun watch.
- 43:49SPEAKER_02: If nothing else.
- 43:51SPEAKER_09: Okay, now I gotta tell you.
- 43:52SPEAKER_09: So this guy's name is William Cat.
- 43:54SPEAKER_09: He's the star of the show.
- 43:56SPEAKER_09: Uh my daughter watches a show.
- 43:59SPEAKER_09: Oh.
- 44:00SPEAKER_09: I think it's Nickelodeon.
- 44:02SPEAKER_09: Either or Disney.
- 44:03SPEAKER_09: I don't remember.
- 44:04SPEAKER_09: It's called The Thundermans.
- 44:06SPEAKER_09: It's about a family that has special powers.
- 44:08SPEAKER_09: It's a sick column.
- 44:09SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 44:11SPEAKER_09: He's the grandfather.
- 44:13SPEAKER_09: That's funny.
- 44:13SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 44:14SPEAKER_09: It's kind of cool.
- 44:15SPEAKER_09: Yeah, I used to watch that one too.
- 44:18SPEAKER_09: Let's see.
- 44:18SPEAKER_09: See if you recognize this one.
- 44:20SPEAKER_09: Well, that could be anything.
- 44:22SPEAKER_02: I'll say that's what it's probably maybe Miami Vice.
- 44:27unknown: I think you might be right.
- 44:29unknown: I think you might be right.
- 44:30SPEAKER_02: It's the only thing I can think of.
- 44:32SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 44:32SPEAKER_02: It is Miami Vice.
- 44:36SPEAKER_09: The theme to this too was amazing.
- 44:38SPEAKER_02: Oh, soundtrack just goes off.
- 44:41SPEAKER_02: I have it on vinyl.
- 44:42SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 44:42SPEAKER_02: I had it on tape rubber, man.
- 44:44SPEAKER_08: I was like, I'm hammered.
- 45:01SPEAKER_08: But it was still well done.
- 45:19SPEAKER_09: Great stuff.
- 45:20SPEAKER_09: Oh, this is easy.
- 45:22SPEAKER_09: It is.
- 45:23SPEAKER_09: One of my favorite theme songs ever.
- 45:29SPEAKER_09: You still watch this religiously.
- 45:36SPEAKER_02: Well, I mean, you know, if you think about it, he was the prototype for what came later.
- 45:41SPEAKER_02: You know, celebrity navy steals.
- 45:45SPEAKER_02: He was the first one.
- 45:47SPEAKER_09: I guess.
- 45:48SPEAKER_02: So, you know.
- 45:57SPEAKER_09: They don't make theme songs like they used to, man.
- 46:02SPEAKER_09: And of course, of course, it could be just nostalgia, too.
- 46:05SPEAKER_09: I don't know.
- 46:05SPEAKER_09: That's that's fairly easy.
- 46:08SPEAKER_09: I can't can you see it?
- 46:09SPEAKER_02: Really tell what it is.
- 46:10SPEAKER_09: It's a painting.
- 46:11SPEAKER_02: Oh, that's cheers.
- 46:12SPEAKER_09: It is cheers.
- 46:13SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 46:14SPEAKER_02: Cheers.
- 46:14SPEAKER_02: I love that show, man.
- 46:17SPEAKER_09: Speaking of great theme songs.
- 46:18SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 46:19SPEAKER_05: Making your way in the world today takes everything you've got.
- 46:24SPEAKER_05: Taking a break from all your worries, sure would help a lot.
- 46:30SPEAKER_05: Wouldn't you like to get away?
- 46:36SPEAKER_05: Sometimes you wanna go where everybody knows.
- 46:40SPEAKER_09: This is one of those those themes where you were disappointed when it would come on and it would be the short version.
- 46:48SPEAKER_09: Yeah, you're all like, ah! Ripped off.
- 46:51SPEAKER_09: Because it would it would it would come on and it would be like, don't sometimes you wanna go where everybody knows?
- 46:56SPEAKER_09: It's like, where's the intro?
- 46:58SPEAKER_02: Wait a minute.
- 46:58SPEAKER_02: What about the whole thing?
- 46:59SPEAKER_02: What the rest of it?
- 47:01SPEAKER_09: Uh they did that a lot, actually.
- 47:03SPEAKER_02: And I'm you know, I I'd like to do my impression of uh Cliff.
- 47:07SPEAKER_02: Hey uh, you know uh that's actually the bull and finch down Boston.
- 47:13SPEAKER_09: Easy.
- 47:14SPEAKER_09: Mash.
- 47:15SPEAKER_09: Mash.
- 47:16SPEAKER_09: Suicide is painless.
- 47:18SPEAKER_09: Again, I used to watch this religiously, and I was a kid.
- 47:22SPEAKER_09: Yeah, yeah.
- 47:22SPEAKER_09: And this this wasn't probably a lot of it wasn't appropriate for totally not, man.
- 47:28SPEAKER_09: But it was riveting television.
- 47:31SPEAKER_09: Oh, absolutely.
- 47:35SPEAKER_09: Equal parts humor, drama.
- 47:39SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah, yeah.
- 47:40SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 47:40SPEAKER_09: It was ahead of its time.
- 47:41SPEAKER_09: It really was.
- 47:42SPEAKER_09: This was an amazing show.
- 47:51SPEAKER_09: This had different intros too.
- 47:53SPEAKER_09: Yep.
- 47:53SPEAKER_09: Remember when they changed uh trapper to BJ?
- 47:56SPEAKER_09: Yep.
- 48:01SPEAKER_09: And and this is how well I I know this.
- 48:06SPEAKER_09: differently, the theme.
- 48:09SPEAKER_09: This is the BJ one.
- 48:17SPEAKER_09: So the Trapper one ended That's how well I know it.
- 48:24SPEAKER_02: Only sang it once or two.
- 48:26SPEAKER_09: It was the same sh it was the same same theme song.
- 48:29SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 48:29SPEAKER_09: But it ended differently when they switched characters.
- 48:32SPEAKER_09: Yeah, that makes sense.
- 48:33SPEAKER_09: That's hee-haw.
- 48:33SPEAKER_09: That is hee-haw.
- 48:34SPEAKER_09: Yep.
- 48:34SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 48:35SPEAKER_09: Now, you know, I never watched Hee-Haw very much.
- 48:38SPEAKER_09: I did once in a while, but I mean it was it was just corny TV, really.
- 48:45SPEAKER_02: But it was fun.
- 48:45SPEAKER_09: I used to like watching Roy Clark.
- 48:47SPEAKER_02: Yeah, Roy Clark's awesome.
- 48:49SPEAKER_08: Hee-haw!
- 48:53SPEAKER_02: I mean, you know, two of the great, like, underrated guitar heroes of the.
- 48:57SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah.
- 48:58SPEAKER_09: Especially Roy Clark.
- 49:01SPEAKER_02: That dude can friggin shred.
- 49:10SPEAKER_02: Believe it or not, my dad liked that show.
- 49:12SPEAKER_09: Did he really?
- 49:13SPEAKER_09: Why why would I not believe it?
- 49:15SPEAKER_02: Come on.
- 49:16SPEAKER_02: Come on.
- 49:18SPEAKER_02: Uh this one, I don't know.
- 49:20SPEAKER_02: That looks like um.
- 49:23SPEAKER_02: Uh is that Dallas?
- 49:25SPEAKER_09: Oh, it could be.
- 49:27SPEAKER_09: Let's see.
- 49:29SPEAKER_09: It is Dallas.
- 49:31SPEAKER_09: Yes.
- 49:31SPEAKER_09: I never watched this show.
- 49:33SPEAKER_09: Did you ever watch this show?
- 49:34SPEAKER_02: I watched parts of it, but it was really boring.
- 49:36SPEAKER_02: Who can Yeah I had a rec I had a crush on uh what's her face?
- 49:40SPEAKER_02: Uh Victoria.
- 49:41SPEAKER_02: Principle?
- 49:42SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 49:42SPEAKER_09: Oh yeah.
- 49:43SPEAKER_09: Yeah, I can understand that.
- 49:47SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 49:48SPEAKER_09: Dallas, Knott's Landing, Falcon Crest, I never watched any of that.
- 49:52SPEAKER_02: Yeah, they were just I only watched them because, you know, mom and dad watched them.
- 49:56SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 49:56SPEAKER_02: So, you know, I was kind of if I wanted to watch TV, this is what I was watching.
- 50:00SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 50:01SPEAKER_02: You know what I mean?
- 50:03SPEAKER_02: But I was always doing something while it was on.
- 50:05SPEAKER_02: I was like playing with my cars or my my army men or whatever, you know.
- 50:14SPEAKER_02: Cowboys suck!
- 50:16unknown: Yes, they do.

- 50:26SPEAKER_09: Uh let's see.
- 50:31SPEAKER_09: I don't remember.
- 50:32SPEAKER_09: I never watched this very much either.
- 50:33SPEAKER_02: Once in a great while, you know, it was it was it was a nice, you know.
- 50:39SPEAKER_09: This was like Love Boat, right?
- 50:41SPEAKER_09: You had guest stars and stuff like that.
- 50:42SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it was always like something different.
- 50:44SPEAKER_02: Everybody like, you know, they came for a different reason.
- 50:46SPEAKER_09: Yeah, I don't I I never got into Fantasy Island.
- 50:49SPEAKER_09: I'm not sure.
- 50:51SPEAKER_02: Oh, it was one of those, you know, niche shows.
- 50:54SPEAKER_02: It was.
- 50:54SPEAKER_02: You know, it wasn't it wasn't that interesting to a kid, especially.
- 50:58SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 50:58SPEAKER_02: You know.
- 50:59SPEAKER_02: I can see I can see where, you know, adults at the time would have been like adults and and and shows that were not really appropriate for kids.
- 51:06SPEAKER_09: Do you recognize that one?
- 51:07SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's gotta be um um Three's Company.
- 51:11SPEAKER_09: Yeah, it is Three's Company.
- 51:15SPEAKER_09: 1982, this is season seven.
- 51:19SPEAKER_09: Eighty-two into season seven?
- 51:21SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 51:23SPEAKER_09: So this is the one after Chrissy.
- 51:25SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 51:25SPEAKER_09: And waiting for you.
- 51:27SPEAKER_09: But it was wholly inappropriate.
- 51:29SPEAKER_09: Oh, and clearly, man.
- 51:30SPEAKER_09: For me.
- 51:33SPEAKER_09: Were you uh Mr.
- 51:34SPEAKER_09: Roper?
- 51:35SPEAKER_09: Alright, Mr.
- 51:35SPEAKER_09: Uh Mr.
- 51:36SPEAKER_09: Fur uh Furley.
- 51:37SPEAKER_09: Furley.
- 51:38SPEAKER_09: Furley.
- 51:38SPEAKER_09: Yeah, Furley.
- 51:40SPEAKER_02: Don Knott's Don Knott's face.
- 51:44SPEAKER_09: Yeah, great show, man.
- 51:45SPEAKER_09: John Ritter was amazing.
- 51:47SPEAKER_09: Oh.
- 51:47SPEAKER_02: You gotta love, he just, he's just, you know.
- 51:50SPEAKER_09: You just can't help but love John Ritter.
- 51:52SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 51:52SPEAKER_09: I remember you said something uh on the last podcast where you you um uh especially with music, you like looking into the past.
- 52:01SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 52:01SPEAKER_09: Because everything now it's it's it's everything sucks.
- 52:04SPEAKER_09: Everything sucks.
- 52:05SPEAKER_02: Uh I I feel like that song from what is that Everything is Awesome.
- 52:10SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 52:10SPEAKER_09: Yeah, everything sucks.
- 52:12SPEAKER_09: We should do an answer to that song.
- 52:13SPEAKER_09: Yeah, but I mean I feel some some of the same things about TV.
- 52:18SPEAKER_09: You know, because I mean it they don't make TV like they used to.
- 52:21SPEAKER_09: I mean, obviously the everything is is better as far as visuals and oh yeah, yeah, you know, uh things like that, but you know, I you you can't really and again, a lot of it is this nostalgia that we're we grew up with this stuff.
- 52:36SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 52:36SPEAKER_02: So we'll obviously think that it's like there are some shows that you can go back and watch over and over and over again.
- 52:42SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 52:42SPEAKER_02: Like Cheers.
- 52:43SPEAKER_02: I can go back and watch your cheers over and over and over again.
- 52:46SPEAKER_09: All the time.
- 52:46SPEAKER_02: But I have a harder time with like like Knight Rider.
- 52:50SPEAKER_09: Yeah, yeah.
- 52:51SPEAKER_02: Or um Airwolf.
- 52:54SPEAKER_02: You know what I mean?
- 52:54SPEAKER_02: Though I it's harder to watch those because it's just like For sure.
- 52:58SPEAKER_09: I mean it was cool as a kid, but now it's like uh you know, it just is I know exactly what you what you mean.
- 53:04SPEAKER_02: Although I will say I still want an airwolf helicopter.
- 53:08SPEAKER_09: Who does that?
- 53:08SPEAKER_09: Just saying.
- 53:09SPEAKER_09: Who doesn't?
- 53:09SPEAKER_02: Just saying.
- 53:10SPEAKER_09: Um you know, I was a huge uh MacGyver fan.
- 53:15SPEAKER_09: Oh yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 53:16SPEAKER_09: Um even some of those.
- 53:18SPEAKER_09: Yeah, some of those are like, you know, hard to watch, you know.
- 53:22SPEAKER_09: Um but I will.
- 53:25SPEAKER_09: Didn't they reboot that?
- 53:27SPEAKER_09: They did, it was awful.
- 53:28SPEAKER_02: Yeah, okay.
- 53:28SPEAKER_02: That's what I thought.
- 53:29SPEAKER_09: Um let's see.
- 53:32SPEAKER_02: Well, it's not as much fun anymore because now he's like, oh, I'll just Google it.
- 53:37SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 53:38SPEAKER_09: Exactly.
- 53:39SPEAKER_09: Um trying to find one that uh we haven't done.
- 53:44SPEAKER_09: Um what I'm doing is I'm looking for poorly explained movies.
- 53:48SPEAKER_09: Uh I think we've done all those, to be honest with you.
- 53:50SPEAKER_09: I don't know how many are left that we haven't done.
- 53:53SPEAKER_02: Can't we get we can't have gone through all of them somewhere.
- 53:56SPEAKER_02: We haven't been doing this that long.
- 54:02SPEAKER_09: We've done that, I know we've done that, I know we've done that.
- 54:06SPEAKER_09: Uh let's see.
- 54:11SPEAKER_09: I don't know if you'd get that one, but that maybe that'll be my maybe that'll be my one that you did that I don't think you'll get.
- 54:18SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 54:19SPEAKER_09: Uh let's see.
- 54:20SPEAKER_09: I should have done this before.
- 54:22SPEAKER_09: Um I think, yeah, some of these you've done already.
- 54:30SPEAKER_09: Let's see.
- 54:33SPEAKER_09: I know we've done that.
- 54:35SPEAKER_09: I know we've done that.
- 54:43SPEAKER_09: I think we've done that, but I'll do it anyway.
- 54:49SPEAKER_09: We've done that.
- 54:50SPEAKER_09: I know that.
- 54:52SPEAKER_09: We might have to uh get a new game.
- 54:58SPEAKER_09: Are we running out already?
- 55:00SPEAKER_09: We're pretty close.
- 55:05SPEAKER_09: Uh okay.
- 55:08SPEAKER_09: I think you might we might have done that one too, but I'll do it anyway.
- 55:12SPEAKER_09: Alright.
- 55:13SPEAKER_09: So I have three that I think you'll probably get and one that I think you won't get.
- 55:19SPEAKER_09: And hopefully we haven't done these before.
- 55:22SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 55:22SPEAKER_09: It's very easy to to do duplicate these because I was like an idiot and didn't put them at the back end of the Okay, here is the poor explanation.
- 55:34SPEAKER_09: Santa Claus steals a fish.
- 55:43SPEAKER_01: Oh cool.
- 55:44SPEAKER_09: The hint is all because of a bet.
- 55:48SPEAKER_09: 1983.
- 55:52SPEAKER_02: Santa Claus steals a fish.
- 55:54SPEAKER_09: All because of a bet.
- 55:59SPEAKER_09: That's really a poor explanation.
- 56:01SPEAKER_09: You I would be surprised.
- 56:02SPEAKER_09: Oh, trading places.
- 56:04SPEAKER_09: Holy cow, and you get it.
- 56:05SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 56:05SPEAKER_09: My goodness.
- 56:07SPEAKER_09: You man.
- 56:09SPEAKER_09: You and Shane, how do you remember all this stuff?
- 56:12SPEAKER_09: Dunno.
- 56:13SPEAKER_09: Uh brains are wired differently.
- 56:16SPEAKER_09: A man is killed by mustard.
- 56:26SPEAKER_09: With a wrench.
- 56:28SPEAKER_09: 1985.
- 56:33SPEAKER_01: With a wrench.
- 56:35SPEAKER_09: A man is killed by mustard.
- 56:37SPEAKER_09: Oh.
- 56:37SPEAKER_09: With a wrench.
- 56:38SPEAKER_09: Clue.
- 56:40SPEAKER_09: It is clue.
- 56:41SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 56:42SPEAKER_02: I haven't seen that movie in a while.
- 56:44SPEAKER_02: That was pretty good.
- 56:46SPEAKER_02: Tim Curry, you know.
- 56:47SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 56:49SPEAKER_09: This is the one I thought you weren't getting.
- 56:51SPEAKER_09: So, so here's the one I think you will get.
- 56:53SPEAKER_09: The babysitter scares a bug.
- 57:01SPEAKER_09: And makes a big pancake.
- 57:04SPEAKER_02: Oh, that's Uncle Buck.
- 57:05SPEAKER_02: We've done that one before.
- 57:06SPEAKER_09: Have we done that before?
- 57:07SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 57:08SPEAKER_09: 1989.
- 57:09SPEAKER_09: Alright, here's the one I don't think you'll get.
- 57:11SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 57:11SPEAKER_09: Maybe I'm wrong.
- 57:14SPEAKER_09: Because I just don't think you watch these kind of movies.
- 57:17SPEAKER_09: Pen pals get jealous of each other.
- 57:24SPEAKER_09: Until one dies.
- 57:27SPEAKER_09: 1988.
- 57:37SPEAKER_09: Pen pals get jealous of each other until one dies.
- 57:41SPEAKER_09: 1988.
- 57:43SPEAKER_02: Doesn't make any sense.
- 57:45SPEAKER_02: I have no idea.
- 57:47SPEAKER_09: Beaches.
- 57:48SPEAKER_09: No.
- 57:49SPEAKER_09: I didn't think you'd you would watch a movie like that.
- 57:51SPEAKER_09: No.
- 57:51SPEAKER_09: So that's why I Never saw one that you wouldn't get.
- 57:55SPEAKER_09: You were correct, sir.
- 57:56SPEAKER_09: I was correct.
- 57:58SPEAKER_09: Alright, so that is poorly explained movies, which can only mean it's time for everyone's favorite part of the show.
- 58:05SPEAKER_07: With everyone's favorites, O'Brien, Doug, Cousin Larry, and yours truly, Miss Judge Ness.
- 58:11SPEAKER_07: Judge Ness.
- 58:14SPEAKER_07: It's time to play mixtape, mixtape.
- 58:17SPEAKER_09: Alright.
- 58:18SPEAKER_09: So I know we something was awry last week.
- 58:22SPEAKER_09: We we didn't have.
- 58:24SPEAKER_09: No, she had something to judge, right?
- 58:26SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 58:26SPEAKER_09: This week.
- 58:28SPEAKER_02: Well, she was late getting hers in because of work.
- 58:31SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 58:31SPEAKER_09: So.
- 58:32SPEAKER_09: But we have but we did one for her to do this week, right?
- 58:35SPEAKER_02: Yeah, she has it.
- 58:36SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 58:36SPEAKER_09: I don't remember what it was.
- 58:37SPEAKER_09: That just goes to show you that my memory is shocked.
- 58:40SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I don't.
- 58:40SPEAKER_02: What was it?
- 58:41SPEAKER_09: Was it the remember?
- 58:46SPEAKER_02: I guess it doesn't matter.
- 58:47SPEAKER_02: Well, we'll figure it out from context.
- 58:49SPEAKER_02: I'm sure she'll say something.
- 58:50SPEAKER_02: She'll say something.
- 58:51SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 58:52SPEAKER_02: Okay, here is Miss Judge Niss herself.
- 58:55SPEAKER_07: And hey guys, that was a really fun question this week, and I really enjoyed listening to everybody's pick.
- 59:02SPEAKER_07: I thought they all felt fit very well.
- 59:06SPEAKER_07: But I had to go with uh O'Brien's Van Halen 5150.
- 59:10SPEAKER_07: That was a really great song.
- 59:11SPEAKER_07: Oh, that's one of the list of it.
- 59:13SPEAKER_09: The stunt.
- 59:14SPEAKER_09: Oh, yes, the stunt guy.
- 59:15SPEAKER_09: The stunt guy.
- 59:15SPEAKER_09: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 59:16SPEAKER_09: Yeah, okay.
- 59:17SPEAKER_09: Cool.
- 59:19SPEAKER_09: Uh, and so now we that was past.
- 59:22SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 59:22SPEAKER_09: And now we do present.
- 59:26SPEAKER_09: And I don't even know if I picked one.
- 59:31SPEAKER_09: Here is the question.
- 59:33SPEAKER_09: You just discovered something revolutionary in mathematics or science.
- 59:40SPEAKER_09: Lives will be better.
- 59:42SPEAKER_09: Humanity's reach will expand.
- 59:45SPEAKER_09: What's playing during your press conference?
- 59:49SPEAKER_09: And I just thought of one, and I I bet you'll be Cousin Larry.
- 59:53SPEAKER_02: Well, you know, Cousin Larry.
- 59:55SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 59:55SPEAKER_02: You know, he's the he's the thoughtful one of the group.
- 59:58SPEAKER_02: So.
- 59:59SPEAKER_02: Anyway, this is what he said.
- 1:00:00SPEAKER_02: Mixtape.
- 1:00:01SPEAKER_02: I had a few songs come to mind right away, like the theme from 2001, a space odyssey.
- 1:00:06SPEAKER_02: And the Star Wars theme.
- 1:00:07SPEAKER_02: I began to think about Discovery and the Discovery presentation portion of 2112, my favorite Rush album, popped in my head.
- 1:00:15SPEAKER_02: But the more I thought about it, only one song could really describe me discovering something revolutionary in math or science.
- 1:00:21SPEAKER_02: The song has to be You Got Lucky by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.
- 1:00:25SPEAKER_02: Honorable mention to Monty Python's The Meaning of Life.
- 1:00:28SPEAKER_02: What a discovery that would be.
- 1:00:57SPEAKER_09: I know.
- 1:00:58SPEAKER_09: Big discovery.
- 1:00:59SPEAKER_09: The discovery might save the world.
- 1:01:13SPEAKER_09: Tom Petty.
- 1:01:35SPEAKER_02: Great song.
- 1:01:36SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 1:01:37SPEAKER_02: So what is yours?
- 1:01:40SPEAKER_02: Mine is Adamant.
- 1:01:42SPEAKER_02: She blinded me with science.
- 1:01:46SPEAKER_09: Okay, two things.
- 1:01:48SPEAKER_09: I know it's what probably not right.
- 1:01:51SPEAKER_09: But it's not right, but it's the one I picked.
- 1:01:54SPEAKER_02: Is that the one you picked?
- 1:01:56SPEAKER_09: Actually, actually, actually, wait.
- 1:01:58SPEAKER_09: I picked something else and I'll tell you.
- 1:02:00SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 1:02:00SPEAKER_09: Tell you what I but it is Thomas Dolby.
- 1:02:02SPEAKER_09: Thomas Dolby, thank you.
- 1:02:04SPEAKER_09: She blinded me.
- 1:02:05SPEAKER_01: She blinded me with science.
- 1:02:08SPEAKER_09: It is the one I picked.
- 1:02:10SPEAKER_09: But I did I did pick a different uh kind of a different version.
- 1:02:14SPEAKER_09: But let me play yours.
- 1:02:36SPEAKER_09: I knew one of us would pick this up.
- 1:02:52SPEAKER_09: So I I'm regretting mine now.
- 1:02:57SPEAKER_09: Um, because well, here's why.
- 1:02:59SPEAKER_09: I picked the same song, but this is the instrumental version.
- 1:03:08SPEAKER_02: Oh.
- 1:03:12SPEAKER_09: Because I pick it as a press conference.
- 1:03:14SPEAKER_09: That's true, yeah.
- 1:03:15SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:03:16SPEAKER_09: It can play it in the background as I'm speaking.
- 1:03:18SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:03:18SPEAKER_09: And everybody's like, hey, what is this stuff?
- 1:03:36SPEAKER_09: Yeah, no, I like yours better.
- 1:03:39SPEAKER_09: Anyway.
- 1:03:40SPEAKER_09: So there you go.
- 1:03:41SPEAKER_09: Great minds think alike.
- 1:03:42SPEAKER_09: That's right.
- 1:03:43SPEAKER_09: You got lucky from Tom Petty is uh cousin Larry's pick.
- 1:03:47SPEAKER_09: Uh the regular version of Thomas Dolby's She Blinded Me with Science is Doug's pick.
- 1:03:53SPEAKER_09: And the instrumental version of the same song, She Blinded Me with Science, is my pick.
- 1:04:00SPEAKER_02: Well, we're just making it easier for the judge.
- 1:04:03SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 1:04:03SPEAKER_02: Yeah, she really really has two choices.
- 1:04:06SPEAKER_02: That's true.
- 1:04:07SPEAKER_02: So that's true.
- 1:04:08SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:04:08SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:04:09SPEAKER_09: All right.
- 1:04:10SPEAKER_09: So now let's do the future.
- 1:04:11SPEAKER_09: Ah, no future.
- 1:04:12SPEAKER_09: Do the future.
- 1:04:14SPEAKER_09: Do the future.
- 1:04:48SPEAKER_02: What is the best song to play while you're walking in Memphis?
- 1:04:52SPEAKER_02: Just kidding.
- 1:05:05SPEAKER_02: Okay, I'm gonna go with this one just because this is it talks about my dream car.
- 1:05:10SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 1:05:10SPEAKER_02: So you're in a brand new 650 horsepower Shelby Mustang.
- 1:05:16SPEAKER_02: With 50 federal agents and two helicopters hung on your tail.
- 1:05:20SPEAKER_02: They're 75 miles between you and Freedom.
- 1:05:31SPEAKER_09: Your So your your car favorite car is close to mine.
- 1:05:36SPEAKER_09: Yours is a Shelby?
- 1:05:37SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:05:38SPEAKER_09: Mine is a 65 Mustang convertible.
- 1:05:42SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I like Shelby Mustangs.
- 1:05:44SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:05:47SPEAKER_09: That is too eye.
- 1:05:48SPEAKER_09: Alright, so that is the question.
- 1:05:50SPEAKER_09: And uh sorry as you struggle with the The Box is stupid.
- 1:05:56SPEAKER_09: You gotta take a picture of that for Cousin Larry.
- 1:05:58SPEAKER_02: I gotta send it to Cousin Larry.
- 1:06:00SPEAKER_09: So while you do that, we're gonna take a break.
- 1:06:01SPEAKER_09: Yes.
- 1:06:01SPEAKER_09: We'll come back and we'll climb that wallet.
- 1:06:03SPEAKER_02: Break, break, break.

- 1:07:31SPEAKER_02: You're like, hi.
- 1:07:32SPEAKER_02: I don't want to listen to Doug anymore.
- 1:07:34SPEAKER_02: Skip this part.
- 1:07:34SPEAKER_02: He's an idiot.
- 1:07:36SPEAKER_02: Let's do this.
- 1:07:37SPEAKER_02: Stupid, stupid.
- 1:07:38SPEAKER_06: Brian and Doug's wall of tunes.
- 1:07:41SPEAKER_09: This is where I take my headphones off.
- 1:07:42SPEAKER_09: Ah, you take the headphones off.

- 1:07:44SPEAKER_09: I'm gonna talk to you about the wall of tunes here in a second.
- 1:07:46SPEAKER_09: But I'm gonna I'm gonna go uh when are you gonna talk about it?
- 1:07:48SPEAKER_09: Um I don't know.
- 1:07:49SPEAKER_09: I'm thinking about getting rid of them.
- 1:07:52SPEAKER_09: Wall of tunes?
- 1:07:53SPEAKER_09: Well, yeah.
- 1:07:54SPEAKER_09: I don't know.
- 1:07:56SPEAKER_09: Because I don't I don't listen to them anymore.
- 1:07:58SPEAKER_02: Oh, you're talking about actually getting rid of the wall of tunes.
- 1:08:00SPEAKER_09: Well, well, yeah.
- 1:08:01SPEAKER_09: Or at least thinning it again.
- 1:08:04SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:08:04SPEAKER_09: You know, thinning the herd again.
- 1:08:05SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I get that.
- 1:08:06SPEAKER_09: I don't know.
- 1:08:07SPEAKER_09: I don't know what I'm thinking.
- 1:08:08SPEAKER_02: I don't know what you're thinking either.
- 1:08:13SPEAKER_02: It's a you know.
- 1:08:17SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 1:08:18SPEAKER_02: It's good.
- 1:08:19SPEAKER_02: If you want to, that's fine.
- 1:08:21SPEAKER_02: If you don't, then you don't.
- 1:08:23SPEAKER_02: It's up to you.
- 1:08:26SPEAKER_09: I mean, it kind of would r would uh I don't know.
- 1:08:30SPEAKER_02: Ruin the bit Well the bit is, you know, it's I mean the bit's it has taken on a life of its own at all.
- 1:08:39SPEAKER_09: It has.
- 1:08:39SPEAKER_02: So I mean it but it's really irrelevant at this point.
- 1:08:42SPEAKER_09: Is it time to retire the bit?
- 1:08:43SPEAKER_09: Or maybe or maybe adjust it a little bit.
- 1:08:45SPEAKER_02: Well, I mean we can always do a wall of tunes, but we could just, you know, we can just you just pick an album.
- 1:08:53unknown: Right.
- 1:08:53SPEAKER_02: Like out of the top of your head.
- 1:08:55SPEAKER_02: You don't need you don't need a visual representation of it.
- 1:08:59SPEAKER_02: That's true.
- 1:08:59SPEAKER_02: You know.
- 1:09:00unknown: Yeah.
- 1:09:00SPEAKER_09: I mean it was it was a good while it lasted while it lasted, yeah.
- 1:09:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah, but you know, maybe it's maybe it's run its course.
- 1:09:06SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:09:06SPEAKER_09: Maybe.
- 1:09:07SPEAKER_02: You know, we maybe we'll replace it all together.
- 1:09:09SPEAKER_02: Maybe we'll come up with, you know, like the you know, the pool of songs.
- 1:09:15SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:09:16SPEAKER_02: You know.
- 1:09:17SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:09:18SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 1:09:19SPEAKER_09: I don't know, because I I I like I said, um I can't wait until school is out because I have plans.
- 1:09:28SPEAKER_09: I have l lots of other plans as well, but uh to gut this room.
- 1:09:33SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 1:09:34SPEAKER_09: Because I wanna I wanna give this room to my wife so she can have a place to work.
- 1:09:38SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 1:09:38SPEAKER_09: But first I have to clean the other side.
- 1:09:40SPEAKER_09: But I'm thinking if I just you know, I would keep obviously there's some that are near and dear to my heart.
- 1:09:46SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 1:09:47SPEAKER_09: You know, I'm gonna keep all my Van Halen's and you know, things like that.
- 1:09:51SPEAKER_09: Uh but there's a l I just don't listen to CDs anymore.
- 1:09:56SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:09:56SPEAKER_09: It's a reality.
- 1:09:58SPEAKER_09: Um I don't know.
- 1:10:01SPEAKER_09: It's a thought.
- 1:10:02SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:10:02SPEAKER_09: It's a thought.
- 1:10:04SPEAKER_09: My wife is listening to this right now.
- 1:10:05SPEAKER_09: I'm sure she's like She's like, heck yeah, heck yeah.
- 1:10:08SPEAKER_09: Get rid of him.
- 1:10:09SPEAKER_09: Overjoyed.
- 1:10:10SPEAKER_02: Let's have a big bonfire.
- 1:10:12SPEAKER_09: Um that note I have an album.
- 1:10:15SPEAKER_09: Alright, so let the catching begin.
- 1:10:17SPEAKER_09: Is it band?
- 1:10:18SPEAKER_09: Yes.
- 1:10:18SPEAKER_09: Rock band?
- 1:10:19SPEAKER_09: Yes.
- 1:10:22SPEAKER_02: Is it kiss?
- 1:10:22SPEAKER_02: No.
- 1:10:24SPEAKER_02: No.
- 1:10:27SPEAKER_02: No.
- 1:10:28SPEAKER_02: Cinderella, no.
- 1:10:32SPEAKER_09: Not even getting close.
- 1:10:34SPEAKER_09: No.
- 1:10:35SPEAKER_09: You were closer with kissing.
- 1:10:36SPEAKER_09: Well.
- 1:10:39SPEAKER_09: You were closer with kiss as far as era.
- 1:10:55SPEAKER_09: Technically, yes.
- 1:11:01SPEAKER_09: Technically, yes, but in a different incarnation.
- 1:11:07SPEAKER_09: One member doesn't play with the man anymore.
- 1:11:12SPEAKER_09: And one member is dead.
- 1:11:40SPEAKER_09: When you are thinking of rock bands in the alphabet, they are one of the few that are in this letter.
- 1:11:56SPEAKER_09: You know what I mean?
- 1:11:57SPEAKER_09: Like ACDC Aerosmith, Air Supply, you know, there's a lot of A's.
- 1:12:01SPEAKER_09: Bad Company.
- 1:12:02SPEAKER_02: Oh, I see.
- 1:12:04SPEAKER_02: Is it Queen?
- 1:12:06SPEAKER_09: Yes, it is.
- 1:12:07SPEAKER_09: That helped you, huh?
- 1:12:08SPEAKER_09: It did.
- 1:12:09SPEAKER_09: Because I mean, there's Queen, there's Queen's Reich, there's Quicksilver Messenger Service, and what other ones?
- 1:12:15SPEAKER_09: I don't know any other cues.
- 1:12:17SPEAKER_09: Do you any other any other cues?
- 1:12:19SPEAKER_02: Uh not off the top of my head.

- 1:12:21SPEAKER_09: No.
- 1:12:21SPEAKER_09: Um, okay, so maybe we've done Queen before.

- 1:12:42SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:12:42SPEAKER_09: That's a silver one.
- 1:12:43SPEAKER_09: Which is a no, it's a black one.
- 1:12:44SPEAKER_09: Oh, okay.
- 1:12:45SPEAKER_09: It's a black one.
- 1:12:46SPEAKER_09: Um at least the the one that I have.
- 1:12:49SPEAKER_09: So uh this one came out in 1984, actually.
- 1:12:54SPEAKER_09: Um and it has the classic, you know, obviously.
- 1:13:01SPEAKER_09: Everybody's heard this song and the song that goes with it.
- 1:13:04SPEAKER_02: I've never heard it before.
- 1:13:05SPEAKER_09: We are the champions.
- 1:13:08SPEAKER_09: And this one.
- 1:13:11SPEAKER_09: I'm just gonna click through.
- 1:13:15SPEAKER_09: Killer quick.
- 1:13:16SPEAKER_11: Oh, great song.
- 1:13:24SPEAKER_09: I'll stop on ones that uh don't get the the recognition they deserve.
- 1:13:28SPEAKER_09: Uh obviously, you know this one.
- 1:13:30SPEAKER_11: Oh, you gotta take me home tonight!
- 1:13:34SPEAKER_09: But do you know this one?
- 1:13:38SPEAKER_11: Right?

- 1:13:48SPEAKER_09: And of course, this one.
- 1:13:49SPEAKER_09: Oh, great song.
- 1:13:50SPEAKER_09: You're my best friend.
- 1:13:51SPEAKER_09: Great song.
- 1:13:52SPEAKER_09: Like I said, I'm only playing the intros to the to the big ones.
- 1:13:56SPEAKER_09: Like this one.
- 1:13:57SPEAKER_09: Crazy little thing called Love.

- 1:14:03SPEAKER_09: We've never done Queen?
- 1:14:04SPEAKER_09: Nope.
- 1:14:07SPEAKER_02: We have not.
- 1:14:08SPEAKER_09: Okay, so now one, two, three, four, five.
- 1:14:13SPEAKER_09: Actually, you probably know this one.
- 1:14:15SPEAKER_02: Ah, great song, man.
- 1:14:18SPEAKER_09: My chorus did this song.
- 1:14:20SPEAKER_09: Oh, did they?
- 1:14:20SPEAKER_09: This year.
- 1:14:21SPEAKER_09: They're for the spring card, yeah.
- 1:14:23SPEAKER_09: It's just don't stop me now, obviously.
- 1:14:28SPEAKER_09: One, two, three, four, five, six, seven.
- 1:14:35SPEAKER_09: But the last six or seven songs, stop me, you may not know them very very well.
- 1:14:44SPEAKER_09: I mean, if you're a queen friend, you do.
- 1:14:46SPEAKER_09: Que queen fan, you do.
- 1:14:48SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 1:14:48SPEAKER_09: I want to break free.
- 1:14:54SPEAKER_09: It's a great song.
- 1:15:24SPEAKER_11: I want to break free.
- 1:15:26SPEAKER_09: Yeah, you recognize it now.
- 1:15:27SPEAKER_09: Oh, yeah.
- 1:15:28SPEAKER_09: Okay.

- 1:16:18SPEAKER_09: Play the game up your mind and let me start.
- 1:16:37SPEAKER_09: Again, your casual clean pen.
- 1:16:39SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:16:39SPEAKER_09: No, no.
- 1:16:40SPEAKER_09: Seven Seas of Rye?
- 1:16:41SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah.
- 1:16:42SPEAKER_02: No, this one.
- 1:16:42SPEAKER_09: Yep.
- 1:16:45SPEAKER_09: This was off night of the opera, wasn't it?
- 1:16:47SPEAKER_09: I think so.
- 1:16:47SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:16:48SPEAKER_09: How about body language?
- 1:16:51SPEAKER_09: Yeah, I recognize that.
- 1:16:52SPEAKER_09: Yep.
- 1:16:52SPEAKER_09: I do too.
- 1:16:53SPEAKER_09: Yeah, I do too.
- 1:16:54SPEAKER_09: How about Save Me?
- 1:16:55SPEAKER_11: It's dotted off so well.
- 1:16:59SPEAKER_02: I think I've heard this.
- 1:17:03SPEAKER_02: I don't know in what context, though.
- 1:17:06SPEAKER_02: I don't know if I was just going through Queen Songs and I heard it.
- 1:17:09SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 1:17:11SPEAKER_09: And finally, this one.
- 1:17:16SPEAKER_11: I can take the lights.
- 1:17:18SPEAKER_09: This is good old-fashioned lover boy.
- 1:17:21SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah, yeah.
- 1:17:23SPEAKER_09: Am I right?
- 1:17:24SPEAKER_09: Wasn't your sister?
- 1:17:25SPEAKER_09: No, she was a big Who fan.
- 1:17:26SPEAKER_09: She was a fan of the Who.
- 1:17:27SPEAKER_09: Yeah, still is.
- 1:17:28SPEAKER_09: But what about Queen?
- 1:17:29SPEAKER_09: Was she a friend of Queen as well?
- 1:17:32SPEAKER_02: To a lesser extent.
- 1:17:33SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:17:34SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 1:17:43SPEAKER_09: Still one of the greatest vocalists ever.
- 1:17:45SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah, absolutely.
- 1:17:47SPEAKER_02: And that that biopic that came out a few years ago.
- 1:17:51SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:17:51SPEAKER_02: Just it's just amazing.
- 1:17:53SPEAKER_09: Oh, yeah.
- 1:17:53SPEAKER_02: It was an amazing movie.
- 1:17:54SPEAKER_09: Really well done.
- 1:17:55SPEAKER_09: I mean, they they did take some liberties, but they had to hollow up.
- 1:17:59SPEAKER_02: Malik man went.
- 1:18:01SPEAKER_09: Just killed it.
- 1:18:01SPEAKER_09: Absolutely.
- 1:18:02SPEAKER_09: Just killed it.
- 1:18:02SPEAKER_09: I don't know that they could have gotten anybody better to play.
- 1:18:05SPEAKER_02: But I mean, I think I think Queen owes a lot to Wayne's World.
- 1:18:10SPEAKER_09: Oh, yes.
- 1:18:11SPEAKER_09: Yeah, because they brought them back.
- 1:18:13SPEAKER_02: They brought that, especially that song.
- 1:18:15SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:18:15SPEAKER_02: I mean, nobody would ever I mean if that if they if Mike Myers had never used that song in that movie, we wouldn't be talking about it.
- 1:18:23SPEAKER_09: I don't know if we wouldn't be talking about it, but we wouldn't be talking about it the way we talk about it.
- 1:18:26SPEAKER_02: Yeah, they wouldn't be pop culture.
- 1:18:28SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 1:18:28SPEAKER_02: You know, they would be like, oh yeah, you remember that band Queen?
- 1:18:31SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah.
- 1:18:31SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:18:31SPEAKER_02: You know.
- 1:18:32SPEAKER_09: I agree.
- 1:18:32SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:18:33SPEAKER_09: Yeah, I agree.
- 1:18:34SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:18:34SPEAKER_09: Wayne's World did wonders for Queen's career.
- 1:18:37SPEAKER_09: And I was my door upstairs.
- 1:18:41SPEAKER_09: And I think they would say that too.
- 1:18:43SPEAKER_09: Queen.
- 1:18:43SPEAKER_09: Oh yeah.
- 1:18:44SPEAKER_09: Queen would say that.
- 1:18:44SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I was about to say, I mean, they brought them back from obscurity.
- 1:18:48SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:18:48SPEAKER_02: You know, so.
- 1:18:49SPEAKER_09: Let's go through our checklist here.
