Speaker 1: Nick fans Our boy Carmelo.
• 3:16
Speaker 1: Anybody that says Carmelo wasn't a great Nick, by the way, I don't value their opinion at all.

Speaker 1: Okay, new York native Title as a freshman in Syracuse.
• 3:25
Speaker 1: Okay, kid wanted to come home.
• 3:27
Speaker 1: Yeah, we traded this up.
• 3:28
  Speaker 1: I don't care.
• 3:29
Speaker 1: Carmelo in times when we were down, carmelo was a guy.
• 3:33
Speaker 1: Okay, he was the only shining light on this Knicks team.
• 3:35
  Speaker 1: And guess what?
• 3:37
Speaker 1: First ballot hall of famer.
• 3:39
Speaker 1: Happy for the kid, happy to have him be an ambassador for us, love it.
• 3:47
Speaker 1: Now on to this current Knicks team.
• 3:48
Speaker 1: Brunson's cleared so we'll see if he wants to get some minutes in.
• 3:53
Speaker 1: I would like that, not a lot, but I mean minutes and tips.
• 3:58
Speaker 1: Let's not go back there again.
• 3:59
Speaker 1: Huh, og has woken up.
• 4:02
Speaker 1: Five games he's been lighting it up.
• 4:05
Speaker 1: He was actually the Eastern Conference Player of the Week for whatever that's worth.
• 4:08
Speaker 1: You know, zion, oh, zion, oh Zion.
• 4:15
Speaker 1: Shut down for the rest of the year.
• 4:16
Speaker 1: I mean, his career is terrible, I mean it just.
• 4:18
Speaker 1: It's terrible too because the guy was coming out of Duke.
• 4:25
Speaker 1: I mean he was unreal.
• 4:26
Speaker 1: Looked like Baby Shaq, I don't know.
• 4:31
Speaker 1: Durant is also a little hurt.
• 4:34
Speaker 1: I'm not too worried about the Suns doing anything, but he is.
• 4:37
Speaker 1: You know, everybody thought he was going to be moved to the deadline.
• 4:40
Speaker 1: No, no, no, no, no.
• 4:41
  Speaker 1: That's an off-season summer acquisition.
• 4:45
Speaker 1: Apparently, the Knicks are in play for him.
• 4:48
  Speaker 1: I don't know.
• 4:49
Speaker 1: I'm good on that man.
• 4:51
Speaker 1: Kevin Durant is no longer the finishing piece of things.
• 4:54
  Speaker 1: I think he's a hell of a player.
• 4:56
Speaker 1: He is a sharpshooter, he is a great.
• 5:00
Speaker 1: He has been a great player in this league, I should say, but has been I'm not calling him a has been a great player in this league.
• 5:06
Speaker 1: I should say, but has been.
• 5:06
Speaker 1: I'm not calling him a, has been, I'm just saying he has been if you get what I'm saying a great player in this league.
• 5:12
Speaker 1: So for the Knicks, I would humbly say thank you.
• 5:18
Speaker 1: No, thank you, which is crazy to think about, from where we were begging him to come when he came to the Nets to now.
• 5:26
Speaker 1: I'm politely declining john morant in a little bit of hot water.
• 5:30
Speaker 1: No surprise, there grizzlies are like three in the west, four in the west.
• 5:35
  Speaker 1: I don't know.
• 5:35
Speaker 1: I I've been paying attention to the west, but not super a lot, and it just up and fired their coach.
• 5:41
Speaker 1: Goodbye, okay, tell me, that's not.
• 5:44
Speaker 1: How do I say this?
• 5:47
Speaker 1: John Morant is the most talented guard, one of the most talented guards in the league, and I don't know what he needs.
• 5:56
Speaker 1: I don't know what's going on, I don't know what, but whatever it is, now we're literally.
• 6:00
Speaker 1: They fired their coach and then two games later, he threw like finger guns at the Wizards bench.
• 6:06
Speaker 1: I think the Wizards they were playing First of all.
• 6:08
  Speaker 1: It's the Wizards.
• 6:08
Speaker 1: Okay, they have like ten wins on the fucking season.
• 6:10
Speaker 1: They're going to probably end up with Cooper.
• 6:12
Speaker 1: Okay, ja, what are you doing?
• 6:16
Speaker 1: You got suspended for half of the season for gun stuff.
• 6:21
  Speaker 1: Okay, I don't—okay.
• 6:25
  Speaker 1: Lapse of judgment.
• 6:26
Speaker 1: Last year character, I mean, he just completely I don't know forgot about it, whatever, thought it was all cool again, you can't do that.
• 6:32
Speaker 1: Let me let you in on a little secret.
• 6:34
Speaker 1: You can't do that.
• 6:35
Speaker 1: Sorry, man, other people might even be able to do that.
• 6:37
  Speaker 1: You can't, sorry.
• 6:38
  Speaker 1: I.
• 6:40
  Speaker 1: I hate it's.
• 6:42
Speaker 1: It's painful to see insane, superstar, almost superstar-level talent just be like this.
• 6:49
Speaker 1: And speaking of superstar talent, that just eh.
• 6:56
Speaker 1: The Philadelphia semi-sixers yeah, how's that working out?
• 7:00
  Speaker 1: Boys?
• 7:01
Speaker 1: Joel Embiid Cooked Paul George Cooked.
• 7:06
Speaker 1: Paul George Cooked Tyrese Maxey, great player, I'll give it to him, but he's now cooked Done for the year.
• 7:12
Speaker 1: They're going nowhere fast.
• 7:14
Speaker 1: They're still on the hook for Paul George for another four years.
• 7:18
Speaker 1: Embiid might not play again.
• 7:20
  Speaker 1: I love me.
• 7:22
  Speaker 1: Some Philly hate.
• 7:23
Speaker 1: Okay, new York guy, love it, but man, it's always foo.
• 7:28
Speaker 1: Philly, you love to see the 76ers down bad, you love it.
• 7:34
Speaker 1: Snap transition into the NFL.
• 7:36
  Speaker 1: Here.
• 7:37
Speaker 1: The draft, the draft feels forever away.
• 7:41
Speaker 1: It's still a couple weeks out, april 24th.
• 7:44
Speaker 1: Does the NFL know how to control every month for ratings or what feels forever away.
• 7:49
Speaker 1: It's still a couple weeks out, april 24th.
• 7:50
Speaker 1: Does the NFL know how to control every month for ratings or what NBA playoffs?
• 7:52
Speaker 1: No, no, no, no, no, don't worry about that.
• 7:53
Speaker 1: Come watch our draft for players that you have no idea about what's going to go on with.
• 7:57
Speaker 1: I feel like I've been talking about this forever.
• 8:01
Speaker 1: I feel like I've been hyping this up forever, but that's the NFL right forever.
• 8:09
Speaker 1: I've ever been hyping this up forever, but that's the nfl right anyway.
• 8:11
Speaker 1: Travis hunter now seems to be linked to the giants, which I guess I don't know.
• 8:14
Speaker 1: It would be the smart move.
• 8:15
Speaker 1: I mean, he's a blue chip player, blue chip stock, he's a blue chip player.
• 8:20
Speaker 1: Uh, week to week, you can.
• 8:23
Speaker 1: If you get them, you can sprinkle them in on offense, you can bring them in on defense.
• 8:27
Speaker 1: Let's say, no good corners this week.
• 8:31
Speaker 1: Hey, guess you get to play a little more receiver.
• 8:34
Speaker 1: Vice versa, you know you need a good corner.
• 8:37
Speaker 1: Hey, man, lots of corner today.
• 8:40
Speaker 1: My league neighbors will take care of the load.
• 8:42
  Speaker 1: So, so that's.
• 8:44
Speaker 1: I mean, maybe, shit, maybe, we start seeing a little more of this in college.
• 8:53
Speaker 1: A little Golden Boy, shohei, otani, crossover.
• 8:54
Speaker 1: God, could you imagine the payoff of that.
• 8:56
Speaker 1: Wide receivers make money and corners make money.
• 8:58
Speaker 1: Imagine you play both and you're a rocket at both.
• 9:01
  Speaker 1: Jesus.
• 9:03
Speaker 1: Either way, very interesting prospect for the NFL.
• 9:06
Speaker 1: They should definitely no matter where he goes Cleveland, god forbid.
• 9:12
Speaker 1: They should definitely market and really push him because if he turns out to what he's supposed to be, whew.
• 9:19
  Speaker 1: Then.
• 9:21
Speaker 1: The other option is they take Carter.
• 9:24
Speaker 1: Okay, so they take Carter and they mix them next to thibodeau.
• 9:28
Speaker 1: Maybe thibodeau starts waking up.
• 9:31
  Speaker 1: Who knows?
• 9:33
Speaker 1: It'd be great, but carter looks great too.
• 9:36
Speaker 1: Then maybe they trade back or they trade back in and they go get a guy like Jackson Dart or Taylor Schuch, tyler Schuch, tyler Schuch excuse me, kid out of Louisville, I don't know.
• 9:52
Speaker 1: Quarterbacks are always overinflated for the draft.
• 9:54
  Speaker 1: So, who knows?
• 9:55
Speaker 1: Looks like they've made their bed, though with Jameis and Wilson, you hope they made their bed, not shit their bed.
• 10:04
  Speaker 1: Listen, they're vets.
• 10:07
Speaker 1: It's a tough-ass schedule for the Giants this year, but just being on vets alone they're going to be able to win you one or two more games.
• 10:14
Speaker 1: Maybe that's enough to save Dable's job and Shane's job.
• 10:18
Speaker 1: It's going to be a real big hole for Shane to crawl out of from the Saquon leaving.
• 10:25
Speaker 1: All you can do is get talent and make it work.
• 10:27
Speaker 1: That's what a good coach does.
• 10:29
Speaker 1: So Dave was supposed to be the quarterback whisperer, but he's also supposed to be a good coach.
• 10:34
Speaker 1: Just get talent, get talent, make it work.
• 10:37
Speaker 1: I mean, shit, that's what the Cowboys did.
• 10:39
Speaker 1: Cowboys did that with Parsons, okay, and that window is kind of closed now, unfortunately.
• 10:45
Speaker 1: But Micah and Lamb at the time were the right choices.
• 10:49
Speaker 1: Okay, shit, they won the division a couple years ago and then they get smoked by Green Bay.
• 10:55
Speaker 1: But that was coaching.
• 10:56
  Speaker 1: That's McCarthy.
• 10:56
Speaker 1: That's why McCarthy didn't get the extension, that's why he wasn't there.
• 10:59
Speaker 1: But they won that division on Lamb and Micah's back Okay, but they won that division on Lamb and Micah's back, okay, and Myles Garrett just reset the market now on the ends.
• 11:10
Speaker 1: So Micah's up for a contract.
• 11:17
Speaker 1: It's interesting to see where that's going to go, jerry Jones being the owner that he is talking, spewing this, that and the other, I don't know.
• 11:26
Speaker 1: Oh, there's no rush for Micah there.
• 11:27
Speaker 1: There should be, there should be speaking of uh owners too that nobody wants to hear from or that are uh incompetent.
• 11:33
Speaker 1: Woody johnson spoiler, maybe not so much the jet fans.
• 11:41
Speaker 1: He, he's an idiot.
• 11:42
Speaker 1: Oh God, guy comes out and calls the NFLPA survey that they do every year at the end of the year for you know locker rooms and staff and facility and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah and he basically he calls it fake news kind of deal, woody, I don't know if you know this.
• 12:01
Speaker 1: This isn't like a media thing.
• 12:02
Speaker 1: These are literally your employees anonymously grading you on how shitty you are as an owner.
• 12:08
Speaker 1: Then he doubles down, he doubles down in the same interview and goes.
• 12:15
  Speaker 1: They go.
• 12:16
Speaker 1: How do you feel about Justin Fields as your new quarterback?
• 12:19
  Speaker 1: And he goes.
• 12:19
Speaker 1: Oh yeah, fields was great In that draft class.
• 12:24
Speaker 1: It was Trevor Lawrence and Justin Fields.
• 12:26
Speaker 1: Those were the two quarterbacks that we really had our eyes on.
• 12:30
Speaker 1: You had the number two pick and Lawrence went one and you took Zach, the best friend's mom lover, layer Wilson.
• 12:43
Speaker 1: What in God's name are you talking about?
• 12:48
Speaker 1: All right, fine, he was overseas being Ambassador Johnson at the time and his brother was running the team, so maybe he didn't have his hands as much as he did, but something tells me he was all over it.
• 13:00
Speaker 1: Something tells me he saw that throw on the pro day and saw Jamarcus russell and said, yeah, go get him.
• 13:07
Speaker 1: Go get him speaking of draining the swamp.
• 13:11
Speaker 1: You see what I did there.
• 13:12
  Speaker 1: You like that?
• 13:13
Speaker 1: Yeah, you like that.
• 13:15
Speaker 1: Aaron glenn coming in and being bill parcells and cleaning house, offering like 170 employees of whoever doesn't want to be here, we'll pay you severance, get out If you don't want to be here.
• 13:29
Speaker 1: That sounds like winning culture to me.
• 13:31
Speaker 1: That sounds like there's some hope in this building.
• 13:36
Speaker 1: Okay, oh man, feeling fingers crossed that at seven they take the tackle.
• 13:43
Speaker 1: And then they they have Lynch being tackles and AVT and John Simpson and they just run the shit out of the ball.
• 13:54
Speaker 1: Back to the Rex Ryan days With Thomas Jones and John Connor just knocking the hell out of everybody.
• 14:02
Speaker 1: But now it's Brees Hall and Agent Zero, braylon Allen and Justin Fields and Garrett Wilson connection.
• 14:10
Speaker 1: Sure, you want to take a tight end.
• 14:11
Speaker 1: You want to take another weapon.
• 14:12
Speaker 1: You want to take something.
• 14:13
Speaker 1: There's plenty to get in the second round, third round, you want to move up.
• 14:16
Speaker 1: You want to trade back in Whatever you want to do.
• 14:18
Speaker 1: But at seven they need to take an O okay, that is 100% the play.
• 14:24
Speaker 1: Okay, be mean green, mean machine.
• 14:27
Speaker 1: Okay, paul Crew style.
• 14:33
Speaker 1: I don't know, man, I have hope in the Jets.
• 14:36
Speaker 1: I swore when they got Rodgers if it didn't work out that they had sold their soul to the devil and that we were going to be paying for it for the next 10 years.
• 14:44
Speaker 1: But I'm starting to believe again.
• 14:47
Speaker 1: Right, when they pull me out, right when I get out, they pull me right back in.
• 14:51
Speaker 1: You know, I'm hoping, I'm hoping.
• 14:53
  Speaker 1: But it's the Jets, j-e-t-s.
• 14:56
Speaker 1: Just enjoy tailgating season, right, ay yi, all right, well, let's go.
• 15:02
Speaker 1: Got to have optimism.
• 15:04
Speaker 1: You got to be positive.
• 15:05
Speaker 1: You got to being positive.
• 15:07
  Speaker 1: Bring positivity right.
• 15:08
Speaker 1: We can only hope for the best.
• 15:10
Speaker 1: All right, all right, all right.
• 15:50
Speaker 1: I've kept you hanging on long enough enough.
• 15:54
Speaker 1: Garrett Crochet six years, 170.
• 15:58
  Speaker 1: Makes sense.
• 16:00
Speaker 1: Jackson Merrill nine years, 135, with a club option.
• 16:06
Speaker 1: It doesn't really make sense.
• 16:09
Speaker 1: Keitel Marte six years, 116, with a player option.
• 16:16
Speaker 1: Christian Campbell eight years, 60 million, with two club options.
• 16:23
  Speaker 1: What?
• 16:23
Speaker 1: Brandon Fout that's a tough name to pronounce of the Dimebacks Five years, 45 million.
• 16:31
Speaker 1: Guy's a pretty damn good pitcher with a club option.
• 16:34
Speaker 1: Cal Raley six years, 105.
• 16:42
Speaker 1: Why, oh why, are all these young players getting early contract extensions and getting bought out of their arbitration?
• 16:53
Speaker 1: Are teams seeing what Atlanta did with a lot of their young players and trying to jump on the trend now because it's a copycat league.
• 17:03
Speaker 1: No, I am here to tell you First.
• 17:09
Speaker 1: You heard it here first.
• 17:10
Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen and gentlemen, I wholeheartedly believe that the MLB owners know that they are going to go into a lockout during the next MLBPA union discussion discussion.
• 17:44
Speaker 1: So they are gonna try and fight this salary cap, which unfortunately might happen, and by doing that and signing these players early, these players might get grandfathered in.
• 17:56
Speaker 1: Yeah, why wouldn't I sign some of my best talent early?
• 17:59
Speaker 1: And then you tell me I have a salary cap.
• 18:00
Speaker 1: Well, I didn't sign them when we had a salary cap, so how can I be held accountable now for moving the goalposts?
• 18:11
Speaker 1: You guys made rules when I signed these players.
• 18:13
Speaker 1: It's incredibly smart from an owner's standpoint and incredibly shitty also from an owner's standpoint.
• 18:21
Speaker 1: You got to tip your cap to good business.
• 18:24
Speaker 1: But I'm telling you you heard it here first Next year, when they get locked out this is why all these kids got contracts.
• 18:34
Speaker 1: I mean Jackson Merrill nine years, $135 million that's four years of arbitration, bought out, okay, but 135 over nine years.
• 18:45
Speaker 1: Jackson Merrill is a pretty damn good player.
• 18:47
Speaker 1: Who's to say, in four years, you know he doesn't turn into this massive superstar.
• 18:52
Speaker 1: You think he's going to be happy when his next free agent contract comes at 32?
• 18:58
  Speaker 1: .
• 18:58
Speaker 1: I'm telling you there's something getting cooked in the books here.
• 19:05
Speaker 1: Okay, there's your conspiracy, there's your hot take.
• 19:09
Speaker 1: I promise you something sketchy is going on here.
• 19:13
Speaker 1: Okay, oh boy, just remember.
• 19:17
Speaker 1: You heard it here first Rice on the mics, big trouble coming.
• 19:34
Speaker 1: A little more silly kind of controversy that's going around the league right now is the torpedo bat.
• 19:37
  Speaker 1: I personally, I don't have a problem with it.
• 19:38
  Speaker 1: Please bring back.
• 19:41
Speaker 1: I want the pitchers throwing as hard as they can.
• 19:43
Speaker 1: I want the batters juiced up, ready to roll.
• 19:49
Speaker 1: I want to see good baseball.
• 19:51
  Speaker 1: Okay.
• 19:52
Speaker 1: So, mlb, get out of your own way.
• 20:05
Speaker 1: Okay, torpedo bat, fuck it, man, who cares?
• 20:06
  Speaker 1: Who cares?
• 20:07
Speaker 1: Alonzo doesn't use torpedo bat.
• 20:08
  Speaker 1: Judge doesn't use a bat.
• 20:09
Speaker 1: Okay, the power hitters are gonna hit.
• 20:11
  Speaker 1: Fine.
• 20:12
Speaker 1: So the guys that are middle of the pack, fuck it.
• 20:16
Speaker 1: Give them a little advantage.
• 20:17
  Speaker 1: Who cares?
• 20:18
Speaker 1: You do like to see some of the superstars use it?
• 20:24
Speaker 1: I guess I mean Ellie had himself a day a couple days ago.
• 20:30
Speaker 1: Ellie had seven ribbies not for the season in a game.
• 20:37
Speaker 1: Okay, he had a single, a double, two home runs in the game.
• 20:42
Speaker 1: Okay, his quote after the game because they found out he was using the uh torpedo bat or whatever ellie's not the best english speaker he uh it's more about the player than the equipment.
• 20:57
Speaker 1: And, uh, he was like it was because, quote uh, how it feel like.
• 21:04
Speaker 1: So that means like they're getting more, it's top heavy, they're getting more whip on the bat, they're getting more velocity, their zone, fine, cool man, fuck it, go for broke then.
• 21:20
  Speaker 1: Uh.
• 21:20
Speaker 1: The joke of the uh press conference was, though, that they asked him oh, do you think you'll uh use it again?
• 21:26
Speaker 1: And he, like gave like the look like almost like the gym, from the office.
• 21:30
Speaker 1: Look to the guy, because you know he's hitting 438, six runs, eightbies and a stolen base on the year.
• 21:38
Speaker 1: Yeah, I would say I would keep using the goddamn thing.
• 21:40
Speaker 1: Okay, you know what's funny too.
• 21:43
Speaker 1: This all kind of falls on Michael Kay.
• 21:46
Speaker 1: It falls on the MLB for not putting out a press release about it, to be honest with you, and declaring that it's legal and letting guys use it.
• 21:54
Speaker 1: But it all kind of falls on Michael Kay because during the Yankee broadcast or right before it, he literally brought it up, and in that game the Yankees scored 20 runs, and they break the record for the most home runs in a single game.
• 22:12
Speaker 1: Yeah, I would say some flags popped up.
• 22:16
Speaker 1: So again, again, I am totally in it, in for it.
• 22:22
Speaker 1: Okay, I also think pitchers should use a little bit of spider tech.
• 22:26
Speaker 1: You know, it's my plate, I'm trying to protect it, I'm going to do everything I can to do it and you know, if you're up at bat, fuck you.
• 22:34
Speaker 1: I'm trying to take your plate.
• 22:35
Speaker 1: This is, uh, my job is to pitch, your job is to hit.
• 22:39
Speaker 1: Okay, let's go get them.
• 22:41
Speaker 1: And I got a lot to uh dive in with the mets here.
• 22:46
Speaker 1: But I want to just do a quick you know not too harsh recap on the yankees week also, that game where they put up 20.
• 22:57
Speaker 1: Yeah, they still let up nine, so not great.
• 23:01
Speaker 1: And then they got beat up a little bit by the D-backs man, corbin Burns.
• 23:10
Speaker 1: Okay fine, you know he pitched with the Orioles, he knows the Yankees All good, knows how to get them out.
• 23:14
Speaker 1: You know he pitched with the Orioles, he knows the Yankees All good, knows how to get them out.
• 23:20
Speaker 1: Then they get not dogged, but they were losing, losing, losing.
• 23:26
Speaker 1: And then, bottom of the ninth, volpe hits a home run to give a little bit of hope.
• 23:29
  Speaker 1: No good.
• 23:29
Speaker 1: And then they won to avoid the sweep, so fine.
• 23:37
Speaker 1: But bullpen does not look good, man.
• 23:39
Speaker 1: They continue to be a boom or bust offense, which is a super volatile way to go through the season.
• 23:46
Speaker 1: Man, they're lucky they play in a weak AL.
• 23:50
Speaker 1: If they played in the NL, man, I don't know.
• 23:56
  Speaker 1: Nl is stacked.
• 23:58
Speaker 1: I'm not putting it against them because you know they are.
• 24:04
  Speaker 1: They started undefeated.
• 24:05
Speaker 1: You know the Yankees, they're going to be okay, they're going to be good.
• 24:08
Speaker 1: I may have been mistaken with Boston, but I don't think so.
• 24:14
Speaker 1: It's a long, long long season.
• 24:14
Speaker 1: They'll get it together.
• 24:15
Speaker 1: But Devers, oh, don't think so.
• 24:16
Speaker 1: It's a long, long, long season.
• 24:16
Speaker 1: They'll get it together.
• 24:17
Speaker 1: But Devers, oh, boy Devers.
• 24:19
Speaker 1: Devers said, oh, I play third, now he doesn't play third.
• 24:22
Speaker 1: He said, oh, I don't play third anymore.
• 24:24
Speaker 1: I mean, guess what else I don't do anymore, I don't hit anymore.
• 24:27
Speaker 1: But Yankees got some shit to work on.
• 24:32
  Speaker 1: I think they'll be okay.
• 24:33
Speaker 1: Work on, I think they'll be okay.
• 24:34
Speaker 1: I think they'll be fine, you know.
• 24:38
Speaker 1: But belly looks good.
• 24:39
Speaker 1: The lineup is all over the place, but that's Boone's deal, though.
• 24:43
Speaker 1: Boone likes to move the lineup around.
• 24:44
Speaker 1: A lot, a lot, a lot, a lot of baseball left.
• 24:48
Speaker 1: Okay, I'll break down the Mets week in a second here, but a cool stat that I just wanted to touch on real quick, just a little around the league, because you know we keep it all over the place.
• 25:00
Speaker 1: Carson Kelly of the Cubs hit for the cycle.
• 25:05
Speaker 1: Okay, it's a cycle, who cares Well for the Cubs?
• 25:09
Speaker 1: That was the first cycle in 32 years.
• 25:12
Speaker 1: Kind of insane to think about.
• 25:14
Speaker 1: And I mean you know Uncle Rice, here he does his research.
• 25:18
Speaker 1: Funny stat about that.
• 25:20
Speaker 1: The last player to hit a cycle for the Cubs was Kelly Grace, may 9th 1993.
• 25:27
Speaker 1: Kelly Kelly, carson Kelly, do you know what year he was born?
• 25:32
  Speaker 1: 1994.
• 25:36
Speaker 1: Funny how that works out.
• 25:38
Speaker 1: Digging a little bit deeper into cycles too, because yeah, it was down a rabbit hole.
• 25:42
Speaker 1: You know we've all been there.
• 25:43
Speaker 1: A couple other cool stats about cycles, because you know a cycle's pretty cool man.
• 25:51
Speaker 1: I mean you see a guy with probably his last at bat and it flashes on the bottom of the screen and says needs a double or needs a home run to hit the cycle.
• 25:59
Speaker 1: It's pretty, you know, come on, come on, come on, you can do this.
• 26:03
Speaker 1: You stretch it out, fuck it, stretch it out.
• 26:04
Speaker 1: Who cares where the ball goes?
• 26:05
Speaker 1: Stretch it out that and like a triple, so you've got a leg and a triple.
• 26:08
Speaker 1: I think those are two of the more exciting plays in MLB.
• 26:15
Speaker 1: Anyway, the Nats and the Brewers, their last three cycles are by the same player for their respective teams.
• 26:24
Speaker 1: The Brewers by Mr Yellich, which goes to show more dysfunction in Miami.
• 26:32
  Speaker 1: Can't believe they.
• 26:34
Speaker 1: Just, you know whatever gave him away that whole outfit.
• 26:38
Speaker 1: Anyway, different story, different time.
• 26:39
Speaker 1: Yelich has the last three cycles for the Brewers.
• 26:42
Speaker 1: How the mighty have fallen.
• 26:44
Speaker 1: He's still all right, but he's always hurt.
• 26:45
Speaker 1: And then for the Nats, trey Turner, last three cycles for the Nats and he had two of them within a week of each other.
• 26:59
Speaker 1: It's crazy to think of.
• 27:00
Speaker 1: I mean, I'm fine with him being in Philly, he's a hell of a player in Philly.
• 27:04
Speaker 1: Just thank God he didn't stay on the Dodgers, but you know, I don't know, just some fun, obscure little stat there.
• 27:11
Speaker 1: I also do want to touch on that Cubs game that Carson Kelly did hit that cycle in.
• 27:18
Speaker 1: So that was at the A's, not the Oakland A's.
• 27:24
Speaker 1: At the A's, the Athletics.
• 27:26
Speaker 1: It's their first time, first game playing in Sacramento.
• 27:31
Speaker 1: That's where they're playing until they get their stadium built in Vegas, because their owner is a piece of shit.
• 27:37
  Speaker 1: They lost 18-3.
• 27:39
Speaker 1: Apparently, the stadium only sees 14K and it was packed to the gills.
• 27:46
  Speaker 1: Which great.
• 27:47
Speaker 1: They were all chanting let's go Oakland and sell the team, still doubling down from last season.
• 27:53
Speaker 1: John Fisher, the coward owner that he is, wasn't in attendance.
• 28:01
Speaker 1: It's their first game in the new stadium.
• 28:03
Speaker 1: They're going to be there for three years.
• 28:04
Speaker 1: It's not like a runoff with, like Tampa, where they're playing a George Steinbrenner and you know they're doing it for the season.
• 28:10
Speaker 1: They're going to be there for three years.
• 28:12
Speaker 1: It's the first game there.
• 28:13
Speaker 1: The owner of the team A chance to kind of maybe smooth things over, maybe at least show face, maybe even just go take your beating and then just whatever, appease the masses.
• 28:23
Speaker 1: Nope, didn't show, didn't even get other things to do, apparently.
• 28:29
Speaker 1: So then it falls on their two players, falls on JJ Boudet and Brent Rooker.
• 28:35
Speaker 1: Brent Rooker is surprisingly 30, by the way he quoted after the game.
• 28:38
Speaker 1: I think we recognize the need for a temporary home until we get where we're going, and I think we're fully prepared to embrace this as our home for the next three years, both the stadium and the city, and we'll make the very best of it and hope to make them proud.
• 28:50
Speaker 1: Does that not sound like a leader.
• 28:56
Speaker 1: Does that not sound like somebody that you want on your team?
• 28:57
Speaker 1: And speaking of leaders, peter Alonzo Hits his first home run of the year Grand slam in game one of the Miami series, then follows it up with another three run blast in the rubber match To tie it up.
• 29:14
Speaker 1: The kid's going to have 150 ribbies this year.
• 29:17
Speaker 1: If this is how it's going to look, this is the Juan Soto effect.
• 29:22
Speaker 1: Yes, soto is an unbelievable player, whatever, but this is the Juan Soto effect.
• 29:27
Speaker 1: Soto is going to get his, but he makes everyone around him three times better If Lindor, who always starts slow in April, so no worries there.
• 29:39
Speaker 1: Also, he just had his first son.
• 29:41
Speaker 1: So anybody that's a parent out there, you know what it's like to have a son.
• 29:44
Speaker 1: Al Chalk has two hours up to that.
• 29:47
Speaker 1: If Lindor and Soto are both going to be on base, pete is going to get fastballs and God, god forbid you.
• 29:56
Speaker 1: Let him get a hold of one.
• 29:57
  Speaker 1: That game.
• 29:58
Speaker 1: Last night he had two doubles and a three-run home run, right, Okay.
• 30:01
Speaker 1: His exit velo on the three hits was 114 miles per hour.
• 30:05
Speaker 1: 113 miles per hour and 113 miles per hour, and his fly out to deep left warning track left was 107 miles per hour.
• 30:14
Speaker 1: You want to talk about pure power.
• 30:16
Speaker 1: God, I'm so happy he's back.
• 30:18
  Speaker 1: I'm so happy he's back.
• 30:21
Speaker 1: Pretty much all-around decent stuff from everybody this week.
• 30:25
Speaker 1: Definitely, if I'm being fair, definitely plenty of room for improvement.
• 30:31
Speaker 1: They had some shaky defense in the field and you can tell that Vientos is clearly struggling.
• 30:39
Speaker 1: He's letting all the little things affect his game and, you know, not running the play out to first.
• 30:47
Speaker 1: Then he had a missed throw home when he probably could have just turned two to get out of the inning, which then leads to him hitting like a shallow pop-up with runners in scoring position.
• 30:59
Speaker 1: He had his big anger moment.
• 31:01
Speaker 1: He threw his helmet.
• 31:01
Speaker 1: I mean remember he didn't even start the season with the team last year and I think that kind of lit a fire under his ass.
• 31:06
Speaker 1: So when he did come up he dominated.
• 31:10
Speaker 1: So I just hope he's not getting too comfortable.
• 31:13
Speaker 1: But also the talent that is on this team that has been here for a while, they can coach him up like player to player.
• 31:21
Speaker 1: Like you know, a coach to a player, you can take criticism, but player to player a team he's that you respect it's different.
• 31:26
Speaker 1: You know there's a lot of good talent on the team that can teach him things.
• 31:29
Speaker 1: So I think it would be worth hearing from them.
• 31:36
Speaker 1: Also, there's enough talent on this team that made the roster for him to maybe take a seat for a day or two.
• 31:41
Speaker 1: Just catch a breath.
• 31:43
Speaker 1: Brady can play third, acuna can play second.
• 31:47
  Speaker 1: They'll be okay.
• 31:50
Speaker 1: Okay, soto is proving to be exactly as advertised Made a nice catch and right, but then, you know, had a couple little miscues.
• 32:01
Speaker 1: I wouldn't call them errors or like loss in the sun, five balls or anything, but you know he's not the strongest fielder, which is fine, I'm not mad at that.
• 32:07
Speaker 1: Okay, he's fucking Ted Williams at 26 at the plate.
• 32:09
Speaker 1: Okay, I will sacrifice a little bit of defense, especially with Jose, siri and Taylor next to him in center, for this man just doesn't make outs.
• 32:20
Speaker 1: Okay, he doesn't make outs.
• 32:24
Speaker 1: Nimmo grew a beard and now he's daddy hack four-hole hitter apparently.
• 32:32
Speaker 1: So his swing has changed a little bit and maybe contributing to a little bit of his early struggles, but he'll come around.
• 32:36
Speaker 1: I mean, nimmo knows what the hell he's doing.
• 32:40
Speaker 1: Going back to the kids too Acuna and Beatty both look super strong.
• 32:43
Speaker 1: They're young and McNeil is looming in the shadows, so that's only going to push them more.
• 32:49
  Speaker 1: They're both having great at-bats.
• 32:50
Speaker 1: I always call Beatty the quad AAA player.
• 32:53
Speaker 1: You send him down to triple-A, he hits 390.
• 32:57
Speaker 1: Call him up to the majors he hits 180.
• 32:58
Speaker 1: So he might be involved in a little bit of a trade here coming down the way.
• 33:08
  Speaker 1: But we'll see.
• 33:11
Speaker 1: And that leads me into the real issue here okay, pitching, all the Met fans try to say oh no.
• 33:18
Speaker 1: We to say oh no, we'll be fine, we'll be fine.
• 33:20
Speaker 1: Well, look, mania has been ruled out.
• 33:21
Speaker 1: Another four weeks and then plus ramp up time.
• 33:22
Speaker 1: So you're looking like middle may and middle june, saying you look good, saying you look good.
• 33:28
Speaker 1: But there's a semi little question mark for him to be able to transition from starter or from reliever to starter.
• 33:45
Speaker 1: When you're reliever you get in.
• 33:47
Speaker 1: It's go, go, go, go, go.
• 33:49
Speaker 1: You know this is my inning.
• 33:50
Speaker 1: I gotta be super amped up when you're a starter man.
• 33:53
Speaker 1: You know you got five, six of these things, seven hopefully.
• 33:56
Speaker 1: Take it slow, you know, clear the noise.
• 33:59
Speaker 1: Just relax and go out there and give your best stuff.
• 34:07
Speaker 1: So, pitching, they need to make a move.
• 34:09
Speaker 1: And all the Mets players, after they faced Alcantara they were gassing him up Like, oh yeah, them adding him to his team would be great.
• 34:21
Speaker 1: If I'm David Stearns, I'm in the corner like yo, shut the fuck up.
• 34:27
Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm trying to make that move, man, but you guys are gassing his price up.
• 34:31
Speaker 1: They need a pitcher man who's good in control, and that's what sandy is.
• 34:37
Speaker 1: Look, this might be blasphemy to say they have four amazing shortstop prospects and they're trying to mat center, they're trying to mat left, they're trying to.
• 34:54
Speaker 1: A couple of those guys are going to get moved, okay, but Luis Luis Torrens looks pretty good behind the plate and Kevin Prada, who they drafted in the first round, also, from all the reports, looks like a stud.
• 35:18
Speaker 1: Would it be insane to maybe entertain Francisco Alvarez getting put in a trade for like a monster pitcher?
• 35:27
  Speaker 1: Is that?
• 35:28
Speaker 1: Is that bad of me to say I love Alvarez?
• 35:31
  Speaker 1: I do, hearez, I do.
• 35:33
Speaker 1: He's part of the Los Mets club that we got going on here.
• 35:36
Speaker 1: But I mean to get you, got to give you know.
• 35:42
Speaker 1: I wouldn't mind hearing it, I wouldn't mind entertaining it for the right player.
• 35:56
Speaker 1: Well, well, well, that's a wrap for this week's episode of Rice on the Mites.
• 36:03
Speaker 1: Seems like we ran a little bit over time, but thanks for hanging with me.
• 36:07
Speaker 1: You guys know the drill.
• 36:09
Speaker 1: If you're feeling the show, hit me up on all the socials, ask any questions you want.
• 36:15
Speaker 1: At Rice on the Radio.
• 36:17
  Speaker 1: That's R-I-C-E-O-N-T-H-E-R-A-D-I-O.
• 36:24
Speaker 1: Rice on the Radio.
• 36:25
Speaker 1: Don't forget to share with a friend.
• 36:27
Speaker 1: We're trying to grow this thing, man, one episode at a time, and it starts with you.
• 36:32
Speaker 1: You guys ain't listening.
• 36:34
Speaker 1: I'm just talking to myself and I always appreciate you guys listening.
• 36:38
Speaker 1: Let's spread some good energy out there.
• 36:40
Speaker 1: Tell someone you love them today and remember giving positive energy gets you positive energy.
• 36:46
Speaker 1: So take it easy, take care of your people and I'll catch you next week.
• 36:51
Speaker 1: Boys, same mic, same fire.
• 36:54
Speaker 1: Until then, be easy Peace.
