- 0:07Speaker 2: The world's of Bigeon podcast. This is Patriots Unfiltered, presented
- 0:16Speaker 2: by Toyota's official website for deals by a Toyota dot Com.
- 0:23Speaker 3: Hello, and welcome today too of Patriots training camp. I'm
- 0:26Speaker 3: Fred Kirsch and we're coming to you live from Jellette Stadium.
- 0:30Speaker 3: The practice feels behind the stadium. We'll be here for
- 0:32Speaker 3: the duration of practice. It's myself, Paul Parrillo, Evan Lazar,
- 0:37Speaker 3: Mike Dus, Tamara Brown, and well, here we are on
- 0:41Speaker 3: day two, guys, and whether it's holding out, doesn't look
- 0:45Speaker 3: like it's gonna rain today, so it looks like a
- 0:48Speaker 3: great another great day for practice here at Jellette Stadium.
- 0:51Speaker 4: Sun trying to peek out a little bit maybe, but
- 0:53Speaker 4: I think the players getting a little bit of a break.
- 0:55Speaker 4: Heare early in camp without the sun bearing down on them.
- 0:58Speaker 4: That sound like next week will be a hot though,
- 1:00Speaker 4: once the pads come on, so that might that might
- 1:02Speaker 4: be beneficial get some work in.
- 1:04Speaker 5: But I think it's you know, favorable conditions here first
- 1:06Speaker 5: couple of days.
- 1:07Speaker 3: Yeah, yesterday full attendance.
- 1:11Speaker 6: You know, we've yet to take attendance yet.
- 1:13Speaker 3: Players are trickling out on the field as we speak,
- 1:16Speaker 3: as you know, you can see us. We should probably
- 1:19Speaker 3: get a camera on the on those arrivals, shouldn't we.
- 1:22Speaker 3: There we go, there's Drake May, David Andrews, two of
- 1:27Speaker 3: the first on the field. I can tell you that
- 1:29Speaker 3: Michael Jordan was the first person on the field today,
- 1:32Speaker 3: not that, not that Michael Jordan, our Michael Jordan.
- 1:36Speaker 5: Yeah, so we should. We should also, just because we
- 1:39Speaker 5: talked a little bit about it yesterday when Gerardmeo spoke,
- 1:43Speaker 5: he sort of led us to believe they wouldn't be
- 1:45Speaker 5: in pads until around the middle of next week. I
- 1:50Speaker 5: guess there was a little bit of confusion. He said
- 1:54Speaker 5: seven practices, He meant seven days, right, So the first
- 1:58Speaker 5: day that they can be in pads is Monday, and
- 2:00Speaker 5: that is the expectation, Okay, that they will be in
- 2:02Speaker 5: full pads on Monday. So I want to make sure
- 2:05Speaker 5: that we clear that up for all of our loyal listeners.
- 2:08Speaker 3: I heard you, Paul on one of your shows yesterday,
- 2:10Speaker 3: you know, putting out bad information.
- 2:12Speaker 5: You know that's not true. Oh yeah, no, you had
- 2:15Speaker 5: to do a correction because the coach had to be corrected. Okay,
- 2:20Speaker 5: not me.
- 2:22Speaker 3: Anyway. Yeah, Paul was on with his guys in the afternoon.
- 2:28Speaker 3: I had to go on with Paul's guys.
- 2:30Speaker 5: I heard you this morning, some Jaws tribute this morning.
- 2:33Speaker 6: You know, I used to be.
- 2:33Speaker 4: The hoodie guy and I'm becoming the Joss tribute.
- 2:36Speaker 5: And I went four for four on Josh Tribuna.
- 2:38Speaker 3: Yeah, although you didn't know how long it took to
- 2:42Speaker 3: build the Mechanically.
- 2:43Speaker 4: I mean, Holly got me on that one. Fred Bruce
- 2:46Speaker 4: Bruce Evan. You know you're not allowed to talk right
- 2:48Speaker 4: now about this movie.
- 2:49Speaker 7: Right, the Mechanical Shark. We Never Die.
- 2:53Speaker 5: As Samara would say, I can't even I.
- 2:56Speaker 8: Can't even be perfect Paul.
- 2:58Speaker 4: So yeah, uh, you know, just uh reflecting a little
- 3:02Speaker 4: bit upon yesterday.
- 3:04Speaker 9: Uh.
- 3:05Speaker 5: I thought it was I thought it was a pretty
- 3:07Speaker 5: good start.
- 3:07Speaker 4: But you know, I think a lot of a lot
- 3:09Speaker 4: was made of you know, a couple of throws that
- 3:11Speaker 4: Drake made.
- 3:12Speaker 5: A lot was made. Yeah, yeah, I was one of
- 3:14Speaker 5: the ones making a lot of them. I'll be I'm
- 3:15Speaker 5: guilty as charged.
- 3:16Speaker 4: Yeah, And I think that kind of feeds into what
- 3:18Speaker 4: what I kind of suspect will happen during camp, which
- 3:21Speaker 4: is those kind of plays will get a lot of attention,
- 3:24Speaker 4: and you know, we we we really won't be highlighting
- 3:27Speaker 4: or maybe even aware of what Jacoby Brissette is doing,
- 3:31Speaker 4: so uh, continue to watch. I mean, it's always fine.
- 3:33Speaker 4: Like I got home last night and like, man, this
- 3:35Speaker 4: is cool. We get to go do it again today.
- 3:36Speaker 4: There's so many guys that, like, I feel like I,
- 3:38Speaker 4: you know, didn't really get to clock as much as
- 3:40Speaker 4: I would have liked to.
- 3:41Speaker 5: So uh, these first few days are as exciting as
- 3:43Speaker 5: it is. The first day. I feel like I still
- 3:45Speaker 5: say second day excitement.
- 3:46Speaker 3: We may not know or pay much attention to what
- 3:48Speaker 3: Jacoby bris said, let's make a commitment to our listeners
- 3:51Speaker 3: and viewers that on this show Patriots Unfiltered, even when
- 3:55Speaker 3: we get back to the studio, we will pay attention,
- 3:58Speaker 3: Yeah to not only what Jacoby bris said does, but
- 4:00Speaker 3: Bailey Zappy and Joe Milton. Yeah, well we'll give it
- 4:03Speaker 3: all to you straight up.
- 4:05Speaker 10: I'll be interested to see out of the wide receivers,
- 4:08Speaker 10: who's going to be the most consistent, Like obviously yesterday
- 4:10Speaker 10: was Jalen Raigers. You know that one catch down the
- 4:12Speaker 10: scene one handed hit another one from.
- 4:14Speaker 8: Drake May as well.
- 4:15Speaker 10: But I'm wondering is it going to be him again
- 4:17Speaker 10: today or is someone else going to step up and
- 4:19Speaker 10: be in the spotlight stuck and stuck.
- 4:22Speaker 3: I would guess that somebody else will will have their
- 4:24Speaker 3: moment and the to shine.
- 4:26Speaker 5: That was one of the things that kind of stood
- 4:28Speaker 5: out was like, so you try to a little pre
- 4:33Speaker 5: practice working with the offensive lineman trying to catch punts
- 4:36Speaker 5: not going well. One of the things though that stood out.
- 4:41Speaker 5: You know, you try to chart the reps right, not
- 4:44Speaker 5: necessarily how many, but you know, more importantly with who
- 4:48Speaker 5: are those reps coming? And uh, you know Brissett, you know,
- 4:52Speaker 5: we talked about the line that started yesterday and then
- 4:55Speaker 5: when May went in, it was a different offensive line.
- 4:58Speaker 5: The wide receivers to me are just and out. There
- 5:01Speaker 5: is no real like because you want to know, like
- 5:03Speaker 5: you wanted to say, well, that's telling because May through
- 5:07Speaker 5: to X. There is no X, like. Everybody is just
- 5:11Speaker 5: in and out of different formations with different personnel groups.
- 5:15Speaker 5: The receiver, you know, it was a lot of polk,
- 5:16Speaker 5: It was a lot of rager, It was a lot
- 5:18Speaker 5: of juju, It was a lot of Baker, you know,
- 5:21Speaker 5: like sprinkling authority, the only one like do Mario Douglas
- 5:24Speaker 5: didn't really take a lot of reps yesterday. It looks
- 5:26Speaker 5: like he might be dealing with something physically. But other
- 5:29Speaker 5: than that, those wide receivers, it's hard to tell exactly
- 5:32Speaker 5: how the depth chart looks right other than they're just
- 5:34Speaker 5: in and out cost other.
- 5:35Speaker 4: Than like David Wallace, Kawan Baker, Chaque Jackson, like those
- 5:38Speaker 4: three guys who are kind of at the bottom, didn't
- 5:40Speaker 4: really see much of them with with those upper guys
- 5:42Speaker 4: notes we.
- 5:44Speaker 7: Have we have an Antonio Gibson sighting Hey uniform, so
- 5:48Speaker 7: it looks like he's ago.
- 5:50Speaker 5: That's basically what jar Odd said yesterday. He didn't anticipate
- 5:53Speaker 5: that being a long term thing.
- 5:55Speaker 3: Speaking of what you're on that, can I give you
- 5:58Speaker 3: the nittiest of nitpicks.
- 5:59Speaker 6: Sure, this is a real nitty nitpickt So.
- 6:02Speaker 3: We had to run wired up for sound yesterday, and
- 6:05Speaker 3: if you went on Patriots dot com or really any
- 6:08Speaker 3: of our platforms on.
- 6:09Speaker 6: Social you heard you saw a little scissorreel.
- 6:12Speaker 3: After the first day of practice and at the end
- 6:14Speaker 3: of practice the team gets together and jerrobbers in the middle,
- 6:17Speaker 3: and he said, good first day, Good first day, harmless, right,
- 6:23Speaker 3: although I'm gonna really nitpick it really isn't the first day.
- 6:27Speaker 6: For the team.
- 6:28Speaker 3: They've been out here on and off the field since April,
- 6:30Speaker 3: really practicing, So I wouldn't want players to have the
- 6:34Speaker 3: excuse that, oh, it's just the first day. No, you
- 6:37Speaker 3: should be at a certain level by this time, you know,
- 6:40Speaker 3: between all the OTAs and the mini camps and everything else.
- 6:44Speaker 3: They do that so that when you get to this day,
- 6:48Speaker 3: it's not really the first day.
- 6:50Speaker 6: You have a lot under your belt already.
- 6:53Speaker 3: So just a real nitpick, but you know, hammering home
- 6:57Speaker 3: that guys, you should be at a certain point now,
- 7:00Speaker 3: and if you're not, then you're behind, because this isn't
- 7:04Speaker 3: really the first day. So I just just a real nitpick,
- 7:07Speaker 3: That's all I wanted to point out.
- 7:09Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean I wonder, I wonder how they feel,
- 7:11Speaker 4: how the players feel if they do feel like it's
- 7:13Speaker 4: a continuation or you know, for some of that. I mean,
- 7:15Speaker 4: I know the rookies have been here for what already
- 7:17Speaker 4: like a week or so, you know, I mean, those
- 7:20Speaker 4: are the important ones, but I got to imagine that
- 7:23Speaker 4: for the rookies. This still feels pretty novel, even if
- 7:25Speaker 4: they've been through kind of OTAs. I would imagine that
- 7:28Speaker 4: the intensity has ramped up here in the last couple
- 7:30Speaker 4: of days. And you know, there's no real I feel
- 7:32Speaker 4: like it's what the train is leaving the station. I
- 7:34Speaker 4: think is as Bill used to say, like and either
- 7:36Speaker 4: got to get on the train or get off.
- 7:37Speaker 3: So but in terms of the process, it's anything but
- 7:40Speaker 3: the first day, you know. So, I just I just
- 7:43Speaker 3: wanted to get that out there. Yeah, again, real nitty.
- 7:48Speaker 7: But I have a little nitpick myself.
- 7:50Speaker 3: Okay, okay, we're picking nits here, a little nitpick.
- 7:53Speaker 7: Nobody cares about Jacobea.
- 7:58Speaker 6: That's not a nitpick.
- 7:59Speaker 7: That's a nobody cares top of the show. I'm sorry,
- 8:03Speaker 7: just it is not important. It is irrelevant. Well, like
- 8:08Speaker 7: it just is. Yeah, And I understand that until something
- 8:13Speaker 7: changes and Girodd tells us differently or we see something
- 8:16Speaker 7: different with our eyes that he is the starting quarterback.
- 8:19Speaker 7: But how long are we going to continue that charge?
- 8:21Speaker 6: I get what I get what you're saying.
- 8:23Speaker 3: In terms of the investment that they made, the future
- 8:26Speaker 3: has to be Drake. May you know that's and and
- 8:30Speaker 3: Jacoby Brissette was brought in here as a placeholder.
- 8:33Speaker 6: That's just the.
- 8:34Speaker 3: Way it has to be, given that they used the
- 8:37Speaker 3: third overall pick on Drake May.
- 8:40Speaker 6: So I get what you're saying, but it's.
- 8:42Speaker 7: No offense to Jacoby Brissett. I'm not trying to come
- 8:44Speaker 7: off as I'm sure he didn't take it as being rude
- 8:47Speaker 7: about it. I just I just am wondering, and it's
- 8:51Speaker 7: it's the right thing to do, it's the right thing
- 8:53Speaker 7: to say. And I remember talking to Drake May's high
- 8:56Speaker 7: school coach and he said they did the same thing
- 8:58Speaker 7: with him in high school where they had an upper
- 9:01Speaker 7: classman that was technically ahead of him on the depth chart.
- 9:03Speaker 7: They went up to the upper classmen like a week
- 9:05Speaker 7: before the first game of the season and says, guess
- 9:08Speaker 7: what we're gonna go with Drake right, And I'm just
- 9:11Speaker 7: wondering at what point we get to that, because every
- 9:14Speaker 7: time we watch these guys play, the eyes tell you
- 9:18Speaker 7: that one guy is superior to the other. Now, is
- 9:20Speaker 7: Drake May going to be ready to run the huddle?
- 9:22Speaker 7: Is he going to be ready to relay plays audible?
- 9:25Speaker 7: All the mental side of it. Well, we'll see, But
- 9:28Speaker 7: you would think by six weeks into training camp, when
- 9:31Speaker 7: we get to September, that he should be ready to
- 9:33Speaker 7: do those types of things.
- 9:34Speaker 3: That's my prediction. But like you said, there's a lot
- 9:40Speaker 3: that the coaches know and see that we don't. It
- 9:44Speaker 3: might look good to us, but maybe he did the
- 9:46Speaker 3: completely wrong thing. We have no idea about that because
- 9:50Speaker 3: we don't know really how a play is supposed to.
- 9:53Speaker 6: Develop and end up.
- 9:55Speaker 7: Uh.
- 9:56Speaker 6: But my opinion is that.
- 10:00Speaker 3: If if May does those things correctly, he will be
- 10:03Speaker 3: the Week one starter.
- 10:05Speaker 8: I agree for it, and I think the ball is
- 10:06Speaker 8: in his court.
- 10:07Speaker 10: I think that if he keeps up with his mechanics
- 10:10Speaker 10: and the things that they've been trying to work on
- 10:12Speaker 10: with him throughout all of spring, and he doesn't go backwards,
- 10:15Speaker 10: I think the ball is in his court and he
- 10:16Speaker 10: has the opportunity to take the starting spot away from
- 10:19Speaker 10: Jacoby Brissette.
- 10:20Speaker 6: Yep, yep.
- 10:21Speaker 4: I wonder if Jacoby Prissette's trying to think he can
- 10:23Speaker 4: thread the needle of they win a bunch of games
- 10:26Speaker 4: right out of the gate. I mean, that's really the
- 10:27Speaker 4: only way he holds onto his job, right, I mean,
- 10:30Speaker 4: that's the only way that he kind of stays in there,
- 10:32Speaker 4: is that they have to click and win games behind him, right.
- 10:35Speaker 6: That or that May doesn't progress in practice.
- 10:39Speaker 10: I was going to say, like, but if Jacoby Brissett
- 10:41Speaker 10: does come out and win the first five, yeah, are
- 10:44Speaker 10: you more concerned with you know, your wins and losses?
- 10:47Speaker 8: Then are you? Are you looking at hey my quarterback
- 10:49Speaker 8: hasn't developed though?
- 10:50Speaker 5: It's so hard.
- 10:51Speaker 4: I mean, I mean, you know, five, five is I mean,
- 10:53Speaker 4: that's that seems extreme to me.
- 10:54Speaker 5: Even if it just gets to three, you know what.
- 10:57Speaker 4: I mean, they beat since he they beat, you know,
- 10:59Speaker 4: I mean, he's looking pretty good and they look functional.
- 11:01Speaker 5: I mean, how do you bang the drum for Drake May?
- 11:03Speaker 5: If they are well?
- 11:03Speaker 3: Games? You know? Okay, So here's the you know, the
- 11:06Speaker 3: two different scenarios, whether three or five games, fans are
- 11:09Speaker 3: going crazy, Wow, this team's better than we thought they were.
- 11:12Speaker 3: Jacobe Brissett's doing great. Let's keep them in there, Let's
- 11:15Speaker 3: see what we can do with this. The other side
- 11:18Speaker 3: of the coin is, wow, this team's better than we
- 11:20Speaker 3: thought we are. What will it look if we put
- 11:22Speaker 3: Drake May in there? Yeah?
- 11:23Speaker 5: I mean that to me is the the X factor
- 11:26Speaker 5: is how are you winning games? You know, are you're
- 11:27Speaker 5: doing what you did last year and you're finding a
- 11:29Speaker 5: way to win a couple. Yeah, then I have no problem.
- 11:32Speaker 5: You know three and two, and you know May is
- 11:35Speaker 5: far readier now than he was in the beginning of September.
- 11:39Speaker 5: I make the move. But if it's you know, Brissett
- 11:43Speaker 5: just lighting it up, you know you're probably going to
- 11:45Speaker 5: keep him out there. But I just I don't have
- 11:48Speaker 5: the optimism that you guys do that that job as
- 11:51Speaker 5: is open now in the in the in the immediate
- 11:53Speaker 5: short term, as you guys think it is. Yes, I
- 11:55Speaker 5: don't think there's a lot that he can do to
- 11:57Speaker 5: win that job.
- 11:58Speaker 6: Brisset.
- 11:59Speaker 3: No, May, oh, okay for opening day, for opening day.
- 12:03Speaker 7: Out of curiosity, just like based on what like, just
- 12:06Speaker 7: because I just think the plan.
- 12:08Speaker 5: Yeah, yes, and that's what that's my concern. Yeah, And
- 12:10Speaker 5: I'm not telling you why I agree with it. You
- 12:12Speaker 5: know my feeling. No, I would have May playing week one. Yeah,
- 12:15Speaker 5: that's I mean. I heard Mike this morning on on
- 12:18Speaker 5: one of Mike's shows this morning, I heard you say
- 12:21Speaker 5: I couldn't agree with you more, and then you were
- 12:23Speaker 5: getting little heated.
- 12:23Speaker 4: I did get heated, Pie, I was imagining you getting jealous, like, damn,
- 12:26Speaker 4: someone got Mike a little mad.
- 12:28Speaker 5: It wasn't me, Paul.
- 12:31Speaker 8: I have a question.
- 12:31Speaker 10: Do you think the plan week one before the Eagles
- 12:36Speaker 10: joint practice was for Cam Newton to start or do
- 12:38Speaker 10: you think the door was just wide open for anybody
- 12:40Speaker 10: Mack Jones rookie.
- 12:41Speaker 5: Season, I think was Mac Jones to start that year, okay,
- 12:44Speaker 5: And and that was mostly because of the COVID stuff
- 12:47Speaker 5: and Cam Newton not being available. Cam Newton missed practice
- 12:51Speaker 5: time and it allowed Mac Jones to take all the reps.
- 12:53Speaker 5: And I think that was the plan. Once that happened,
- 12:55Speaker 5: they didn't think that Cam was reliable.
- 12:57Speaker 4: The other part two with Cam was I felt it
- 12:59Speaker 4: was just so obvious that he was limited, and you know,
- 13:01Speaker 4: and that's the same thing kind of with Mac. And
- 13:02Speaker 4: that's I think what we're just hoping to break the
- 13:05Speaker 4: cycle with Drake May is that he might not make it.
- 13:09Speaker 4: But it's not gonna be because and I think I
- 13:11Speaker 4: said this on the Ready too, it's not because he's
- 13:12Speaker 4: not done a good enough arm, or he's not big enough,
- 13:14Speaker 4: or he's not strong enough, Like it's gonna between the
- 13:17Speaker 4: ears probably for him if.
- 13:18Speaker 5: He doesn't make it.
- 13:19Speaker 4: But you know it's just like all right, well with
- 13:20Speaker 4: the physical boxes are checked, like I don't have to
- 13:22Speaker 4: sit here, and you know, with like Mac or something,
- 13:24Speaker 4: it's like, okay, he's always gonna be a little bit
- 13:27Speaker 4: under the average athleticism that we need for a quarterback.
- 13:31Speaker 5: That's never probably gonna change.
- 13:32Speaker 4: So, you know, just not having those qualifiers already on
- 13:35Speaker 4: Drake May is.
- 13:36Speaker 5: You know, is nice.
- 13:37Speaker 3: Yeah, And I you know, I know we have a
- 13:40Speaker 3: lot of people watching that don't normally watch us. I
- 13:43Speaker 3: hope you know, now that you know we exist, would
- 13:46Speaker 3: be maybe you will. But my take on May when
- 13:50Speaker 3: they when he finally gets in there is I hope
- 13:52Speaker 3: they don't make the same mistake with him that I
- 13:54Speaker 3: think they made with Mac Jones, which is to micro
- 13:57Speaker 3: manage him and really coddle him on the field his
- 14:00Speaker 3: first year, not allow him to make mistakes, because I
- 14:05Speaker 3: think we got a false sense of security with Mac
- 14:07Speaker 3: Jones that first half of the season because they weren't
- 14:11Speaker 3: letting him go downfield. They weren't they were really protecting
- 14:15Speaker 3: him from turning the ball over and making mistakes. And
- 14:18Speaker 3: experience is the best teacher. You have to know your limits,
- 14:22Speaker 3: and the only way you know your limits is by failing.
- 14:25Speaker 5: That's why I want him to play. I think his
- 14:27Speaker 5: value in getting out there and making mistakes and learning
- 14:31Speaker 5: what you can and can't do.
- 14:32Speaker 7: That's my whole thing too. It's like, if it's all
- 14:34Speaker 7: just to Mike's point, it's not going to be physical. No,
- 14:38Speaker 7: it's not going to be that. Jacoby Brissett throws a
- 14:40Speaker 7: better ball than Drake May So if it's all just mental,
- 14:43Speaker 7: then part of me feels like he's not gonna be
- 14:46Speaker 7: able to learn those things unless he plays.
- 14:48Speaker 10: Right.
- 14:48Speaker 8: Agree.
- 14:49Speaker 3: You know, it's like experience isn't the only teacher, but
- 14:53Speaker 3: it's the best teacher.
- 14:54Speaker 8: I agree, Fred.
- 14:55Speaker 10: I mean, Josh Allen didn't become Josh Allen just by
- 14:58Speaker 10: going out there to It took time and he made
- 15:01Speaker 10: a ton of mistakes.
- 15:02Speaker 7: So I think, yeah, I.
- 15:04Speaker 3: Had same thing, more interceptions and touchdowns ye first year,
- 15:08Speaker 3: but the Colts knew what they had. They were patient,
- 15:11Speaker 3: they let him make mistakes, and then by the second
- 15:13Speaker 3: year he knew what he you know, what to do
- 15:16Speaker 3: and what not to do.
- 15:17Speaker 4: How do you guys remember Josh Allen's development though? Do
- 15:19Speaker 4: you feel like in his first couple of years, there
- 15:21Speaker 4: were moments where you were really questioning if he was
- 15:24Speaker 4: ever going to get it.
- 15:25Speaker 5: Yeah. His rookie year, he looked like he couldn't hit
- 15:28Speaker 5: the ball.
- 15:29Speaker 7: Yeah, his second year, he was already starting to turn
- 15:31Speaker 7: a corner.
- 15:31Speaker 6: Listen, people in Buffalo were questioning it.
- 15:33Speaker 5: I mean, you know, the scribe's let's be honest about
- 15:36Speaker 5: Josh Allen. People still question him today.
- 15:39Speaker 7: That's right, that's true.
- 15:40Speaker 6: That's true. No, but the Bills knew what they had.
- 15:43Speaker 3: They knew if we can just get you know, get
- 15:46Speaker 3: some of the inaccuracies down, limit those, he's going to
- 15:51Speaker 3: be a great quarterback. And they were right, and they
- 15:53Speaker 3: had patients and of course bringing in Dig's help. But
- 15:57Speaker 3: I think he would have been great even if they
- 15:58Speaker 3: didn't bring in Diggs, you know.
- 16:00Speaker 10: And I mean Josh Allen he like didn't play in
- 16:03Speaker 10: a conference either where like there are a bunch of powerhouses.
- 16:05Speaker 10: He played in the Mountain West, So it wasn't like
- 16:08Speaker 10: he came into the league with all this experience going
- 16:10Speaker 10: up against all these five star guys, right, so he
- 16:12Speaker 10: needed those reps.
- 16:14Speaker 5: Do you think we'll have that moment with Drake May?
- 16:16Speaker 4: Like, I mean, it's that is that part of what
- 16:17Speaker 4: you have to accept if you are gonna subscribe to
- 16:20Speaker 4: the theory that Paul and I and Evan, you know,
- 16:22Speaker 4: everybody's kind of seeming to play him now, but are
- 16:25Speaker 4: you Are you gonna have to face probably a couple
- 16:27Speaker 4: moments where you don't quite know if Drake mays the
- 16:29Speaker 4: guy because you're kind.
- 16:30Speaker 5: Of throwing the words, you're saying that you're gonna get blood. Yeah, yes, absolutely,
- 16:35Speaker 5: there's no way it's going to be a perfect CJ. Stroud,
- 16:38Speaker 5: like you know what, an unbelievable rookie year. Right, that's rare.
- 16:40Speaker 3: But to be fair, the people that are saying don't
- 16:43Speaker 3: start them, they're not. They're saying that because mostly the
- 16:46Speaker 3: line they're saying, oh, I don't want to bring him
- 16:49Speaker 3: out there and get him killed. Behind that line, I.
- 16:51Speaker 5: Think it's mostly because they don't think he's developed enough
- 16:53Speaker 5: to play. I mean, there was definitely people that say
- 16:56Speaker 5: like that. Mike almost fought someone today on the radio
- 16:59Speaker 5: who said, you know, the whole thing about the offensive line.
- 17:01Speaker 5: But a lot of people just have it in their
- 17:04Speaker 5: minds that it's it's hard to play as a rookie
- 17:06Speaker 5: and you need time to develop and Drake May's the
- 17:09Speaker 5: youngest out of the sixth first round picks. I agree
- 17:11Speaker 5: on the sixth first round quarterbacks. He's the youngest one.
- 17:14Speaker 5: People just think he needs to.
- 17:16Speaker 3: Develop a lot, need time to develop, And I say
- 17:18Speaker 3: develop on the field.
- 17:19Speaker 5: I'm with Freddy and I'd love to argue with you,
- 17:21Speaker 5: but I can't.
- 17:22Speaker 8: Paul, you brought up c J. Stroud's unbelievable rookie season.
- 17:26Speaker 10: It didn't start off that great, though it evolved into
- 17:29Speaker 10: being a great rookie season, but it didn't sirt.
- 17:30Speaker 5: Well the first game. Did He was pretty good in
- 17:32Speaker 5: the first game. Now, in the preseason when he was here,
- 17:35Speaker 5: we all looked at each other and yeah, they already
- 17:37Speaker 5: decided it's going to be him. Huh. And we thought
- 17:39Speaker 5: he didn't look ready, but he was. This is like
- 17:43Speaker 5: what I'm trying to say about not knowing when you're
- 17:45Speaker 5: watching practice. We watched that preseason game and we were
- 17:50Speaker 5: and all of us were an agreement, Like, and I
- 17:52Speaker 5: really like c J. Stroud I liked him coming out
- 17:54Speaker 5: of college. Wow, he just does not look anyway close
- 17:57Speaker 5: to being ready. But the coaches saw something different in
- 18:00Speaker 5: this every day and with those reps and They're like, no, no, no,
- 18:03Speaker 5: he's ready and he was closer to being ready than
- 18:06Speaker 5: anybody thought.
- 18:07Speaker 7: Yeah, I just wonder. So much of the argument for
- 18:12Speaker 7: sitting Drake may is based off of Patrick Mahomes, Jordan Love,
- 18:17Speaker 7: Aaron Rodgers. Obviously people bring up Brady even though it's
- 18:20Speaker 7: not apples to apples. It's all about these three outliars
- 18:24Speaker 7: essentially that sat early on in their careers and then
- 18:27Speaker 7: went on to be Hall of famers. But that's not
- 18:30Speaker 7: the norm like that, that's their outliers. Like those guys
- 18:34Speaker 7: had unique situations, don't.
- 18:36Speaker 5: You don't use Johnny Uns like Mike Felgerach.
- 18:42Speaker 7: You're literally saying that because Patrick Mahomes sat behind Alex
- 18:46Speaker 7: Smith and Patrick Mahomes is now the best quarterback in
- 18:49Speaker 7: the league. That is the only way that you can
- 18:51Speaker 7: go about things, just because Mahomes did it.
- 18:53Speaker 5: Doubt and you know how you always talk about I'll
- 18:55Speaker 5: die on that hill. I'll die on the hill that
- 18:58Speaker 5: Patrick Mahomes would have been better if he had played
- 19:02Speaker 5: right away. You can't prove I'm wrong because he didn't
- 19:05Speaker 5: play right away. So I'm going to die on that
- 19:06Speaker 5: hill arguing it. And I think if he had played
- 19:09Speaker 5: his rookie year, he would have gotten the few mistakes
- 19:13Speaker 5: he made his second year out of the way in
- 19:15Speaker 5: his first year, and maybe that cost him a title.
- 19:17Speaker 3: And if they had a lesser quarterback than Alex Smith,
- 19:20Speaker 3: he would have played. Right.
- 19:22Speaker 5: Do you remember what happened when he did play the
- 19:23Speaker 5: one game his rookie year?
- 19:24Speaker 3: Right?
- 19:25Speaker 5: No, he lit it up? Is how close, Paul is
- 19:28Speaker 5: that hill to Mount Cooks? Mount Cooks is more of
- 19:31Speaker 5: a like a little like a little ant hill. It's
- 19:35Speaker 5: not necessarily what I'm willing to die off.
- 19:37Speaker 7: There's nobody that disputes that Brandon Cooks is not a
- 19:40Speaker 7: good player. At this point.
- 19:41Speaker 5: He does, He's been the lead for he scoffed at
- 19:45Speaker 5: me where he does. A good, solid, productive player. He's
- 19:48Speaker 5: getting rid of him, though, I don't know why, tossing
- 19:51Speaker 5: him around.
- 19:52Speaker 7: I'm not really sure how he can dispute.
- 19:53Speaker 3: I mean, his problem is he only goes in a
- 19:55Speaker 3: straight line, Brandon Cooks, or.
- 20:00Speaker 5: Tries to go for seventeen yards to catch, or tries
- 20:02Speaker 5: to go.
- 20:02Speaker 6: Over a guy and get knocked out of the Super Bowl.
- 20:05Speaker 5: But anyway, now, now it's his fault that he got
- 20:08Speaker 5: concussed in the Super Bowl. He tried to hurdle the guy.
- 20:11Speaker 5: So what are you doing? Try to hurdle guys all
- 20:13Speaker 5: the time?
- 20:14Speaker 7: Around a guy no field awareness, Paul, no field away, spatial, spatial.
- 20:19Speaker 3: The first time he diaked somebody out will be the
- 20:21Speaker 3: first time.
- 20:22Speaker 5: Tell you he must have all unbelievable offensive coordinators that
- 20:25Speaker 5: got him a thousand yards every year. No, he's just
- 20:28Speaker 5: by avoiding Everythingody just.
- 20:29Speaker 3: So fast, and he's a good ball catcher, I mean,
- 20:31Speaker 3: but he doesn't have a lot of wiggle. Who cares,
- 20:34Speaker 3: I'm just saying that's that's the only weakness in his.
- 20:38Speaker 5: Guests shot the samarow is Mount Cooks right now and
- 20:41Speaker 5: now we're back. Now I'm back on the hill. Wiggle,
- 20:43Speaker 5: that's the that's the number one. That's what I used
- 20:45Speaker 5: to hear Belichicks say all the time. I need my
- 20:47Speaker 5: wide receivers to be able to get open, catch the
- 20:49Speaker 5: ball and wiggle right.
- 20:51Speaker 3: Well to make somebody miss once in a while. That's
- 20:53Speaker 3: all I'm saying. That's all I'm saying.
- 20:55Speaker 5: Yeah, then he'd be elite.
- 20:59Speaker 4: So just to share a little bit, I watched the
- 21:01Speaker 4: latest Hard Knocks an another another good episode.
- 21:03Speaker 5: I'm very much enjoying them behind the scenes.
- 21:05Speaker 4: This was the draft though, but little little Elliott Wolf,
- 21:07Speaker 4: little you know, conversations behind the scenes of the Giants.
- 21:11Speaker 4: But you know, some people made more of the Patriots
- 21:14Speaker 4: want and Drake May in it than I really interpreted.
- 21:16Speaker 4: I mean, it seemed like they were just content to
- 21:18Speaker 4: kind of stay there, not specifically pumping up Drake May,
- 21:21Speaker 4: but you know, just hearing the conversations that the Giants
- 21:24Speaker 4: were having and doing the same thing that Paul has
- 21:27Speaker 4: been saying for like five years now. They're going right
- 21:30Speaker 4: through the hit rate of quarterbacks in the first round
- 21:32Speaker 4: and the difference it is when you get somebody in
- 21:34Speaker 4: the top three picks and how quickly after that you
- 21:38Speaker 4: start going downhill. And you know, just their acknowledgment of yes,
- 21:41Speaker 4: we could probably stay put and take Malik Neighbors, who
- 21:44Speaker 4: they loved, and you know, Brian Table was just you know,
- 21:46Speaker 4: blown away by what he was watching with that kid.
- 21:49Speaker 4: But you could still see that even despite kind of
- 21:52Speaker 4: having that thing and knowing for them, it's gonna mean,
- 21:54Speaker 4: we're gonna keep Danil Jones, We're gonna give them a weapon,
- 21:56Speaker 4: We're going to try to solidify the offensive line. In
- 21:58Speaker 4: free agency, they were still so tempted to trade up
- 22:02Speaker 4: and weren't quite willing to make, you know, this crazy
- 22:05Speaker 4: package to get up that it seemed like the Patriots
- 22:07Speaker 4: you know we're going to ask for because they were content.
- 22:09Speaker 4: But it just reiterated for me how valuable that pick
- 22:12Speaker 4: was third overall and it lined up in a year
- 22:15Speaker 4: where there were three good quarterbacks worth being taken.
- 22:17Speaker 3: Yeah, and what we'll never know was what was that
- 22:21Speaker 3: crazy package that would have tempted that page.
- 22:23Speaker 5: I do because he kind of said it, Yeah, he
- 22:25Speaker 5: kind of Yeah, he talked about it. I mean it
- 22:27Speaker 5: was you know, it's a one.
- 22:28Speaker 4: They were saying, Look, it's the trade down and then
- 22:29Speaker 4: it's the one next year plus what and you know
- 22:32Speaker 4: that was the big question. Obviously you're gonna give us
- 22:34Speaker 4: your your one next year, but how much more is
- 22:37Speaker 4: it going to take? And how ridiculous is it gonna
- 22:38Speaker 4: And Elliott never on the phone, never, you know, specifically
- 22:41Speaker 4: said he just I mean.
- 22:42Speaker 3: You could tell, hey, are they going to be that stupid?
- 22:46Speaker 6: But we know they right.
- 22:47Speaker 7: If you're going to do.
- 22:48Speaker 5: Something stupid, then we'll talk. But look, we're pretty happy
- 22:50Speaker 5: to stay where we are.
- 22:52Speaker 7: So really quickly attendance wise, I am not seeing Devon.
- 22:56Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't see him either. I miss and a
- 23:00Speaker 5: few others that you probably have, but he's the most noteworthy.
- 23:03Speaker 7: Yeah, I don't have Joey's Sly, but I don't know
- 23:05Speaker 7: if maybe the Kickers is kicking to have disappeared.
- 23:10Speaker 5: Yeah, but I didn't see Sly either, so I'm not
- 23:12Speaker 5: sure he came out. I definitely is your here, Yes,
- 23:17Speaker 5: he is, he is. I have everybody.
- 23:19Speaker 7: I have everybody besides Godshaw and Joey sl okay.
- 23:23Speaker 3: So now they're doing things a little differently than yesterday.
- 23:26Speaker 3: Yesterday they had the defense on the right the left field,
- 23:30Speaker 3: they had the offense on the right field warming up.
- 23:32Speaker 5: Because you made such a big deal, they changed it.
- 23:34Speaker 3: Now they're on opposite ends of the same field doing
- 23:38Speaker 3: this stretching, so a little bit different.
- 23:42Speaker 6: I don't know why.
- 23:45Speaker 4: I believe we might have Antonio Gibson departing for the
- 23:48Speaker 4: lower field. Perhaps I couldn't get a full number on him,
- 23:52Speaker 4: but it looked like him and Jennings.
- 23:54Speaker 5: Yeah, Jennings came out without his helmeted.
- 23:58Speaker 7: I never saw Gibson ground helmet.
- 24:00Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 24:02Speaker 7: It's it's like maybe they're if they're out here stretching,
- 24:04Speaker 7: then they should be off. They should be off the
- 24:08Speaker 7: NFI list, in the pup list, if you're participating at
- 24:11Speaker 7: all in this part of practice.
- 24:13Speaker 5: Yeah, but I would say he's probably off. I you know,
- 24:16Speaker 5: didn't write it that way, but I would say he's
- 24:18Speaker 5: probably off NFI to be out here in uniform. Yeah.
- 24:22Speaker 4: So can we talk a little about jude On gotshak
- 24:24Speaker 4: because I mean, obviously Judon spoke yesterday, and I'm really
- 24:28Speaker 4: wondering what's gonna happen, Like, I just I think they
- 24:33Speaker 4: need jude On, but there's just so many complicated parts,
- 24:35Speaker 4: and hearing him talk yesterday, all I could think.
- 24:38Speaker 5: Is like, is this gonna if they don't, are we
- 24:40Speaker 5: gonna be hearing this all year? Like?
- 24:42Speaker 4: Are we gonna be you know, hey, it's November now,
- 24:44Speaker 4: how you know how you feel about it?
- 24:45Speaker 5: Like?
- 24:46Speaker 4: Can they let this thing drag on? Do they have
- 24:48Speaker 4: to either give him an extension or move him? Like
- 24:51Speaker 4: can they even let him stay right now and play
- 24:53Speaker 4: on this deal? Because it's going to be a distraction
- 24:55Speaker 4: all season long?
- 24:57Speaker 7: My question just is it what do they have to
- 24:59Speaker 7: lose by giving him more money for this year? Like
- 25:02Speaker 7: an extension is one thing? I get with the age
- 25:04Speaker 7: and coming off an injury. Yep, maybe you don't want
- 25:06Speaker 7: to give him a two year extension. But if he's
- 25:09Speaker 7: just looking for an extra raise just for this season,
- 25:13Speaker 7: it's it's not there's no way that it's it's a
- 25:17Speaker 7: monetary issue to get to hand him an extra five
- 25:20Speaker 7: million bucks. It's certainly not a cap issue. So if
- 25:23Speaker 7: it's gonna make him happy, then like, what are we
- 25:26Speaker 7: waiting for whatever reason?
- 25:28Speaker 6: He Judon just left the defense and.
- 25:31Speaker 7: The defensive lineman are down there, so he's going to Oh,
- 25:35Speaker 7: I see do pass resh?
- 25:36Speaker 5: I think he might have to take a tinkle or something. Okay,
- 25:39Speaker 5: it's like he's had it for the it looks like
- 25:42Speaker 5: he's had enough hydration issues.
- 25:45Speaker 4: But you think gotchall might be Hey, i'm gonna come,
- 25:47Speaker 4: I'm gonna come day one, and then then you know,
- 25:49Speaker 4: and then all bets are off.
- 25:50Speaker 5: I think there's everything on the table. And I did
- 25:52Speaker 5: see something earlier that someone tweeted out that he was
- 25:55Speaker 5: one of the guys that's expected to speak today. Yep,
- 25:57Speaker 5: So I don't know if that's you know, obviously, if
- 26:00Speaker 5: he's not out here on the practice field, I find
- 26:03Speaker 5: that to be hard to believe.
- 26:04Speaker 4: So what does everybody think right now? Gotcha and Judon
- 26:06Speaker 4: both on the team this year, both gone one here
- 26:09Speaker 4: one not?
- 26:10Speaker 6: I think both on the team.
- 26:11Speaker 5: Yeah, but I think that's going to get traded.
- 26:13Speaker 6: Yeah, okay, I think that.
- 26:15Speaker 3: I think that rather than an extension, they're just going
- 26:18Speaker 3: to give Jude On extra money and he's gonna be like,
- 26:20Speaker 3: all right.
- 26:21Speaker 4: One one, but no more, no additional years. Now, you
- 26:23Speaker 4: don't think they'll do uh, you know what the dummy
- 26:26Speaker 4: years like all that, like all that kind of stuff.
- 26:27Speaker 4: You think they'll get into that kind of stuff now.
- 26:29Speaker 7: Be interesting to see because they've never done that really. Beside,
- 26:32Speaker 7: Devin mccorty is the one guy I can remember in
- 26:34Speaker 7: recent memory that got void years. But they knew he
- 26:37Speaker 7: was either going to be a Patriot or retire from football,
- 26:40Speaker 7: so the void years there was ways around that, Like
- 26:42Speaker 7: the Bill didn't really believe in the void years structure.
- 26:46Speaker 7: So if they did something like that with Judon or
- 26:49Speaker 7: with Gotcha, I guess that would be a departure from
- 26:52Speaker 7: how they've handled contracts in the past. So it'd be
- 26:54Speaker 7: interesting to see if that is because a lot of
- 26:56Speaker 7: teams do that. The New Orleans Saints do it with everybody,
- 26:59Speaker 7: and that's how they run the cap, completely different than
- 27:02Speaker 7: every other team in.
- 27:03Speaker 5: The league, but it still exists.
- 27:05Speaker 7: Yeah, New Orleans, Philadelphia like those teams do utilize void years.
- 27:10Speaker 3: Well. The media has certainly come to Judon's defense. They're
- 27:13Speaker 3: out there telling him that he telling everyone that he
- 27:16Speaker 3: deserves the money. They've come out. The new stat now
- 27:19Speaker 3: is the amount of sacks per game that Judon has
- 27:23Speaker 3: had as a Patriot versus.
- 27:25Speaker 5: Former team, and it's.
- 27:26Speaker 3: Pretty I think it's like thirty eight games in thirty
- 27:29Speaker 3: two sacks or something like that.
- 27:31Speaker 5: Which is anybody do the December January totals. Those aren't
- 27:36Speaker 5: as impressive.
- 27:36Speaker 3: It goes down, it.
- 27:38Speaker 10: Go down, I think because of that reason, Fred though,
- 27:40Speaker 10: they can't afford to trade him, at least right now,
- 27:42Speaker 10: because they don't have the depth behind him to take
- 27:45Speaker 10: his spot. So I think for right now, you give
- 27:47Speaker 10: him some money to last, you know, she get through
- 27:49Speaker 10: this season, and if you don't feel like extending him,
- 27:51Speaker 10: don't do that, but at least satisfy him for right now.
- 27:53Speaker 10: But you can't afford to trade him because who's going
- 27:55Speaker 10: to play in his spot.
- 27:56Speaker 5: I'm with Tamara in terms of give him a little money,
- 27:59Speaker 5: get him motivated part the season. Then I trade him.
- 28:01Speaker 5: You know, really I trade him heading into the trade deadline.
- 28:04Speaker 5: I think there might be some value. I think someone's
- 28:06Speaker 5: probably gonna lose, you know, an edge rusher. It's like
- 28:10Speaker 5: pitching at the trade deadline. You can never have enough
- 28:12Speaker 5: guys that can get after the passer. And I think
- 28:15Speaker 5: a contender would be interested. You just sold me, Paul.
- 28:17Speaker 4: I think that that you're that's a really good thing
- 28:19Speaker 4: because we've always said before he's only early one of
- 28:21Speaker 4: the assets they have. If they try to do it now,
- 28:24Speaker 4: you're probably not going to get as much. But if
- 28:25Speaker 4: you can give him a little sweetener and he plays
- 28:27Speaker 4: pretty well and he's getting some sacks and he has
- 28:29Speaker 4: some value, you know, that's where this team is. When
- 28:32Speaker 4: you look at that point, whenever the trade deadline is,
- 28:34Speaker 4: you know, early November or late October, that look, we're
- 28:37Speaker 4: not going to make the playoffs. Now's the time to
- 28:38Speaker 4: cash this chip in, pick up an extra whatever it is,
- 28:41Speaker 4: second third round pick. If he's playing well, and then
- 28:44Speaker 4: you're selling a little bit more high because if you're
- 28:46Speaker 4: trying to sell him right now, you're you're you're kind
- 28:48Speaker 4: of selling low coming off an injury.
- 28:50Speaker 7: Yeah, it's a great point because there's also precedent from
- 28:52Speaker 7: last year with Chase Young and Montes Sweat, Yeah getting
- 28:55Speaker 7: moved or as a Josh, but I always forget which
- 28:57Speaker 7: Sweat I think was Montes, right, So yeah, so those
- 29:00Speaker 7: two guys get moved right around the deadline last year,
- 29:03Speaker 7: So it's been done. You know, you can use those
- 29:05Speaker 7: deals as as sort of barometers of what you might
- 29:08Speaker 7: get for Judah, and you give the team a seven
- 29:11Speaker 7: eight weeks to see if they're going to be competitive
- 29:13Speaker 7: or not. You know, if you're to and six at
- 29:15Speaker 7: the deadline, then you deal them if you're.
- 29:18Speaker 3: Makes sense that you saw predicated on Judah being satisfied
- 29:22Speaker 3: with just taking extra money for this year.
- 29:24Speaker 5: Yeah, right, right right?
- 29:26Speaker 4: And I mean do you think and I guess I saw,
- 29:28Speaker 4: did you guys see I think they how much cash
- 29:30Speaker 4: they actually spent this spring? I think there were some
- 29:32Speaker 4: like ninth in the leaguers. I mean, do you think
- 29:34Speaker 4: the money they've already spent? I mean, are they I
- 29:37Speaker 4: know they have cap space, but you know we always
- 29:38Speaker 4: talk about real money, like I mean, is some of
- 29:41Speaker 4: their budget kind of dried up?
- 29:42Speaker 5: I mean is that you know, and I don't know
- 29:45Speaker 5: that this is going to happen. But let's just look
- 29:46Speaker 5: around the league. And you saw yesterday, uh, ESPN and
- 29:50Speaker 5: NFL Network. It was just one stop after the other.
- 29:54Speaker 5: TUA in Miami, Jordan Love in Green Bay, CD Lamb
- 29:58Speaker 5: and others. In Dallas, Hassan Reddick with the Jets.
- 30:02Speaker 6: Trent Williams.
- 30:03Speaker 5: Now, the Patriots could wind up twenty fifteen cash spending
- 30:05Speaker 5: by the end of the training camp if these guys
- 30:08Speaker 5: all get signed. So I do think they like right now,
- 30:12Speaker 5: Dallas I think is thirty second in cash spends. They
- 30:15Speaker 5: have three enormous contracts hanging over their head. I can't
- 30:19Speaker 5: imagine they're just gonna lame duck all of them. Micah Parson,
- 30:22Speaker 5: CD Lamb and Dak Prescott. I got to think at
- 30:25Speaker 5: least one of those guys gets a long term deal,
- 30:28Speaker 5: and I think that changes those numbers quickly. It's like
- 30:30Speaker 5: everyone's like, oh, Calvin Ridley twenty three million a year.
- 30:34Speaker 5: How does twenty three million a year look now for
- 30:35Speaker 5: a number one receiver right when they're making making thirty five?
- 30:41Speaker 6: You know?
- 30:42Speaker 5: So I think those numbers change so quickly. The complexion
- 30:45Speaker 5: of those numbers.
- 30:46Speaker 4: But do you think, Paul, I mean, look, your guys,
- 30:48Speaker 4: your guys killed them all year because they don't spend money.
- 30:49Speaker 4: I mean, do you think that that amount of money
- 30:51Speaker 4: they spend is that irrelevant?
- 30:53Speaker 5: No, it's not irrelevant. I mean I think it's relevant
- 30:56Speaker 5: in the amount of money they spent. I do think
- 30:58Speaker 5: it's mitigated in the fact that the vast majority of
- 31:01Speaker 5: it was on their own players.
- 31:02Speaker 6: Oh but it's still money.
- 31:03Speaker 5: That's why I said it's not irrelevant. Yeah, yeah, it's
- 31:06Speaker 5: it's money. Yeah, I don't In other words, I don't
- 31:10Speaker 5: blame the organization for not spending money. But if it
- 31:14Speaker 5: doesn't go, well, it's not the organization's fault. It's the
- 31:18Speaker 5: personnel department, who is the ones that decided we're going
- 31:21Speaker 5: to run it back with a four and thirteen team.
- 31:23Speaker 7: Yeah, I didn't run it back.
- 31:25Speaker 5: See that? Like that talking points? Is that grinds my gears?
- 31:29Speaker 5: I know it bothers both of you, and I don't
- 31:31Speaker 5: really understand. It's hard to.
- 31:32Speaker 7: Say running run it back. The drafted a quarterback.
- 31:34Speaker 5: They drafted a quarterback.
- 31:36Speaker 7: Yes, they have new receivers. They drafted a quarterback, They
- 31:40Speaker 7: new coaching and coaching staff.
- 31:42Speaker 5: Like I'm talking about the players. The personnel is all
- 31:45Speaker 5: the same, but you can't make changes and one that's
- 31:47Speaker 5: not going to play.
- 31:48Speaker 7: One of them is literally the third overall pick in
- 31:51Speaker 7: the year is not going to play play. I don't
- 31:53Speaker 7: agree with that. I think he is going to play
- 31:55Speaker 7: the majority of the year, like I don't know how.
- 31:57Speaker 7: And also the guy that quarterback the team last year
- 32:00Speaker 7: is not here, so it's regardless.
- 32:02Speaker 5: It's one of the two changes they made.
- 32:04Speaker 4: So that's a pretty big should have let everybody walk
- 32:06Speaker 4: and just sign a whole new team.
- 32:07Speaker 5: Why you know, why does it have to be Andy Hart?
- 32:11Speaker 10: Like?
- 32:11Speaker 5: Why does it mean everybody?
- 32:12Speaker 8: What?
- 32:12Speaker 4: I'm trying to find where your line was for who
- 32:14Speaker 4: they should or should not.
- 32:15Speaker 5: I think they I think they brought back five or
- 32:17Speaker 5: six guys that are completely and utterly irrelevant that added
- 32:20Speaker 5: to that cash total. No, that's not one guy that's
- 32:25Speaker 5: born I would say Born Jennings Uce. None of these
- 32:31Speaker 5: guys impact that.
- 32:33Speaker 6: I disagree with that.
- 32:34Speaker 10: I feel like I can't count. He's kind of like
- 32:36Speaker 10: a Uchi got none Yeah, he got no money.
- 32:38Speaker 5: No, I'm just saying you brought them all back. You
- 32:40Speaker 5: could have gotten other guys that are better than them,
- 32:42Speaker 5: but they chose not to.
- 32:44Speaker 4: But I don't think that's realistic. We saw they tried
- 32:46Speaker 4: to get a bunch of better guys than twenty twenty one.
- 32:47Speaker 4: Some of them work, some of it didn't. And a
- 32:49Speaker 4: lot of these guys in twenty twenty one when they
- 32:51Speaker 4: were still on the upswing, where guys you said, man,
- 32:54Speaker 4: we got a player in them, when you we got
- 32:55Speaker 4: a player in.
- 32:56Speaker 5: Douger last year, Jennings didn't give them a lot of money.
- 32:58Speaker 5: I just don't run it. I think that they found
- 33:01Speaker 5: core pieces that they liked. They hung on to them.
- 33:03Speaker 5: They they kept comfortable with.
- 33:06Speaker 4: They kept what they Yeah, sure, but you know when
- 33:08Speaker 4: these guys like Juju, they're gonna let them.
- 33:09Speaker 3: Why were they comfortable with them because.
- 33:11Speaker 5: They like them? Why not because of their talent?
- 33:15Speaker 3: What?
- 33:15Speaker 5: Because they didn't win?
- 33:16Speaker 7: I think they have They didn't win games, means Kyle
- 33:20Speaker 7: Duggar is not a good football player.
- 33:21Speaker 5: Again, it's not every single one of them, it's the whole,
- 33:25Speaker 5: I know, but it's the whole. They took them all back.
- 33:27Speaker 3: And most of them a lot of them were defense,
- 33:29Speaker 3: and I think they thought they had a pretty good
- 33:31Speaker 3: defense last year. And because we had pretty good players.
- 33:35Speaker 5: Like I would have resigned Hunter Henry. Yeah, that's like,
- 33:38Speaker 5: I'm not telling you that it's every guy. I don't
- 33:40Speaker 5: think it's I don't think it's an all or nothing.
- 33:42Speaker 5: I just would have maybe half of them back and
- 33:45Speaker 5: the other half I would have tried to upgrade. That's all.
- 33:48Speaker 4: Would it be too extreme to say they didn't have
- 33:49Speaker 4: an offensive line coach the.
- 33:50Speaker 5: Last two years?
- 33:51Speaker 6: No, No, it wouldn't be to it.
- 33:53Speaker 5: I think they had an offensive line coach last year.
- 33:55Speaker 5: I don't think he did a good job.
- 33:56Speaker 8: Right, Well, he was yeah, he was gone, Yeah, yeah,
- 33:58Speaker 8: I know.
- 33:59Speaker 5: But he was there for all of the off season
- 34:01Speaker 5: training camp, in the first nine games, and their offensive
- 34:04Speaker 5: line was the worst in the league.
- 34:05Speaker 4: I've been here six years, They've had six different coaching combinations.
- 34:09Speaker 5: Along the offensive line. I just that's great stats. I mean,
- 34:13Speaker 5: I was done. That's a great stat right, And every
- 34:16Speaker 5: year it's been different.
- 34:17Speaker 4: And it's just that when I when I got a
- 34:19Speaker 4: little fired up on the hub this morning, it was just,
- 34:20Speaker 4: you know, I get it, but like they didn't have
- 34:24Speaker 4: much to work with last year. I just think it's
- 34:26Speaker 4: been two years since you've really had quality o line coaches.
- 34:29Speaker 4: I don't know if it's going to be now, but
- 34:31Speaker 4: I'm just saying I think I don't think it's some
- 34:33Speaker 4: reasonable to say they'd really had just any kind of
- 34:35Speaker 4: continuity the last ye.
- 34:36Speaker 5: I just think if we were, if we were being
- 34:37Speaker 5: honest with ourselves and talking last year at this time,
- 34:40Speaker 5: we were saying the same thing, we have an offensive
- 34:42Speaker 5: line coach. Now we didn't have one last year, and
- 34:44Speaker 5: we were wrong.
- 34:45Speaker 7: Well, but that's they I mean, yeah, exactly like we.
- 34:49Speaker 5: Have another guy he's never done it before, and you're
- 34:52Speaker 5: hoping but also too far.
- 34:54Speaker 4: But the point too, I think for me, is that
- 34:56Speaker 4: he wasn't the right guy last year. He did wasn't
- 34:58Speaker 4: who Billy o wonted. He wasn't a guy who was.
- 35:01Speaker 4: It was Bill hiring a guy he knew. And if
- 35:04Speaker 4: you would let an actual offensive coording or hire an
- 35:07Speaker 4: offensive line coach who knows he wants.
- 35:11Speaker 5: I'm sorry, I'm listening, I'm sorry I was rude. I'm sorry.
- 35:14Speaker 10: I agree with you, Mike, because I think there were
- 35:15Speaker 10: reports out at one point saying that Bill O'Brien was
- 35:18Speaker 10: talking to all the groups like sometimes he was coaching
- 35:21Speaker 10: all of the groups.
- 35:21Speaker 8: They weren't in their individual meeting.
- 35:23Speaker 5: That was after Clem had left with his health scare right,
- 35:26Speaker 5: But even when Clem was there was it was it
- 35:28Speaker 5: Working with Billfne was terrible. And I think you have
- 35:32Speaker 5: you know says for a quarter Ford, you're gonna have
- 35:35Speaker 5: four the same five. So that's why I just I
- 35:37Speaker 5: think you've got an offensive line coach, granted unproven and
- 35:40Speaker 5: that and that's something you have to deal with, but
- 35:42Speaker 5: obviously knows Alex van Pelt's system, knows what he how
- 35:45Speaker 5: these guys have to play, and it's it's connected now.
- 35:47Speaker 5: And I mean, I just I see some value in that,
- 35:49Speaker 5: and that gives me, you know, these little nuggets of
- 35:51Speaker 5: like I think that they're gonna be okay. Maybe I'm
- 35:53Speaker 5: gonna be wrong, but that's my hill. I would say
- 35:56Speaker 5: that hill. I would say they'll be better than last
- 35:58Speaker 5: year because they were thirty second last year, so I
- 36:00Speaker 5: think they'll be better. I don't think it'll be okay.
- 36:04Speaker 5: I don't think you're gonna look at them and say
- 36:06Speaker 5: offensive line's okay.
- 36:07Speaker 3: You are right.
- 36:08Speaker 4: No, you think they're gonna be under siege the whole season,
- 36:10Speaker 4: long start to finish.
- 36:11Speaker 5: That's was that the case last year past blocking, I
- 36:14Speaker 5: don't think it was. I think there were some games
- 36:16Speaker 5: it was like that, but I don't think it was
- 36:17Speaker 5: like that every game. I don't think we said that
- 36:19Speaker 5: every game last year. So it'll be better this year, though, No,
- 36:21Speaker 5: I definitely think it'll be better than thirty second in
- 36:23Speaker 5: pass block win rate.
- 36:24Speaker 10: Yes, I think they'll be better, But I don't expect
- 36:26Speaker 10: them to be like Lions offensive line brickwall like their
- 36:29Speaker 10: offensive line is elite.
- 36:31Speaker 8: Yeah, I don't expect it to be that good.
- 36:33Speaker 4: No, but if Kayden Wallace works out, and Michael and
- 36:36Speaker 4: when you you know, shows that what we've seen for
- 36:38Speaker 4: the last three years that he's a very good guard,
- 36:40Speaker 4: and David Andrews continues steady play and you know city,
- 36:42Speaker 4: So I mean, I just I don't.
- 36:45Speaker 3: Think Scott Peters is a good line coach.
- 36:49Speaker 5: I have no question about. Just like if Drake May
- 36:52Speaker 5: you know, plays really well right away, my whole complexion
- 36:55Speaker 5: of what I think this season's going to be is
- 36:56Speaker 5: going to be different if all those things happen on
- 36:58Speaker 5: the offensive line. My complex of the offensive line will
- 37:01Speaker 5: be different if all of those guys end up playing
- 37:03Speaker 5: really well and the coach is really good. They'll be
- 37:06Speaker 5: a lot better.
- 37:06Speaker 7: I agree to Kobe Brissett playing some running back, not actually.
- 37:10Speaker 5: Just this fun stuff, good hands.
- 37:13Speaker 7: Doing some some drills here. But it does irk me, Paul,
- 37:16Speaker 7: It does irk me when people say that they run
- 37:18Speaker 7: it back. It also irks me when we talk about
- 37:24Speaker 7: the cash spending thing. And to Mike's point, this year,
- 37:28Speaker 7: this off season, they're not in the league in cash spending.
- 37:31Speaker 7: You can say it was on their own guys, but
- 37:33Speaker 7: they spent money, and we just are disingenuous when we
- 37:37Speaker 7: say that that the team is cheap or they won't
- 37:41Speaker 7: pay this player or sign that player or whatever, when
- 37:44Speaker 7: that's just inaccurate based off of the data that we have. Now,
- 37:49Speaker 7: is that going to be consistent every single off season
- 37:52Speaker 7: that that's a different story. But for this off season,
- 37:54Speaker 7: they did go out and spend money. And to sit
- 37:57Speaker 7: here and say that they're, you know, this team that
- 37:59Speaker 7: won't do that, I just feel.
- 38:01Speaker 5: I don't know how many times people can say that
- 38:03Speaker 5: they've spent money. You can't argue that they spent money.
- 38:06Speaker 5: I mean, Felger of all people said they spent money.
- 38:09Speaker 5: I don't know how we can argue this. Danny Ada,
- 38:12Speaker 5: I was wondering where that handsome man was down there.
- 38:14Speaker 5: It's out on him.
- 38:17Speaker 3: Yeah, we tried to get him for pats from the past,
- 38:19Speaker 3: and he'd he blew us off out. Yeah, that would
- 38:23Speaker 3: have been a good pass for the past, it would have.
- 38:26Speaker 6: We'll get him eventually.
- 38:29Speaker 5: Man, he had some acrobatic catches for me.
- 38:32Speaker 4: I just so distinctly remember that first game against Buffalo,
- 38:35Speaker 4: and you know, we talk about things that like the
- 38:37Speaker 4: fans start to rage about. I mean, I remember him
- 38:39Speaker 4: signing him and being he's so injury prone. That was
- 38:42Speaker 4: everybody was worried about. And it's funny because he both
- 38:46Speaker 4: like I think got hurt in that Buffalo game, but
- 38:48Speaker 4: also like managed to make a couple you know, crazy
- 38:50Speaker 4: clutch catches at the end.
- 38:51Speaker 6: Danny Amidola taught me a lot about anatomy.
- 38:54Speaker 3: Oh, I didn't know we had two groins until he
- 38:56Speaker 3: hurt both of them.
- 39:00Speaker 7: Act in the back of the end zone against Jacksonville Championship.
- 39:04Speaker 5: That's the highlight that to.
- 39:05Speaker 7: Me is the one that always stand out from him
- 39:09Speaker 7: on the whole. A little a little overrated discatch though,
- 39:12Speaker 7: but that, but individual plays here and there.
- 39:15Speaker 5: That one was my kind of guy. He wasn't like
- 39:18Speaker 5: a volume stat pattern. He just every every play he
- 39:22Speaker 5: made was important.
- 39:23Speaker 4: Yeah, Michael Gibbons, Yeah, I think about h David Gibbons,
- 39:27Speaker 4: that touchdown catch he had David the Seahawks, which was
- 39:30Speaker 4: more like just a Brady throw that there's a shot
- 39:32Speaker 4: from the back of the end zone where it's like
- 39:34Speaker 4: the ball is just coming through like a sea of
- 39:36Speaker 4: hands and like just somehow finds its way to Amadola
- 39:39Speaker 4: in the in the end zone.
- 39:40Speaker 7: I feel like that was really similar plays. I wonder
- 39:43Speaker 7: if it was actually the same, right, all right, a
- 39:51Speaker 7: lot more special team stuff going on. It seems like down.
- 39:54Speaker 5: Here conversation I haven't been watching.
- 39:57Speaker 10: Yeah, I feel like, yes, they didn't really do any
- 40:00Speaker 10: special teams outside of obviously the kickers.
- 40:02Speaker 8: The kicking that happened that.
- 40:04Speaker 4: Kickoff where my kickoff at. I thought, Hey, I thought
- 40:07Speaker 4: Joe Milton had a couple of nice balls yesterday. He
- 40:09Speaker 4: didn't get a lot of reps, but but I thought
- 40:10Speaker 4: he had a couple of nice throws.
- 40:11Speaker 10: Especially was a good ball and his short passes like
- 40:15Speaker 10: they weren't like about to break your hands.
- 40:17Speaker 4: On time, And I mean, you know he did. I mean,
- 40:18Speaker 4: like again he didn't. He's not going to play a lot.
- 40:20Speaker 4: I wasn't really watching him when he was down here.
- 40:22Speaker 4: I was more watching the may side. But you know
- 40:24Speaker 4: it just it never hurts.
- 40:26Speaker 5: A quarterback who's making some throws.
- 40:28Speaker 7: According to some people, Bailey zappies.
- 40:30Speaker 4: I saw that, and that made things that make you
- 40:32Speaker 4: go home. There's always like a practice recap afterwards where
- 40:35Speaker 4: there's a few nuggets.
- 40:36Speaker 5: And you're like, I didn't see that. I don't know what.
- 40:37Speaker 5: I don't push, all right, I'll take your word for it.
- 40:40Speaker 8: Define making a push.
- 40:41Speaker 7: Don't don't count Bailey Zappy out. So let me ask you.
- 40:47Speaker 5: We talk about some things that make you go home
- 40:49Speaker 5: when you when you go you're reading after the did
- 40:53Speaker 5: any of this finest esteemed panel see Christian Barmore leave practice.
- 40:58Speaker 4: I'd see that with the trainers. No, I saw him
- 41:00Speaker 4: come back. I saw him here today though.
- 41:01Speaker 5: No, I know he's here today, but I didn't. Wondering
- 41:03Speaker 5: if anybody's because that was tweeted out by Greg Baard
- 41:05Speaker 5: yesterday that he was with Jim Whalen and walked off
- 41:10Speaker 5: under his own power but look to have a problem
- 41:13Speaker 5: with his knee. Yeah, I saw it, and I have
- 41:15Speaker 5: to be honest, I did not see that.
- 41:16Speaker 8: I not see that.
- 41:17Speaker 4: I didn't either, And it's always like one of those
- 41:18Speaker 4: things that like, oh crap, one of the best players
- 41:20Speaker 4: got hurt and walked off and I had no idea.
- 41:21Speaker 5: Right, And I pride myself on not missing stuff like that.
- 41:24Speaker 5: I feel like, right now, yeah, he's out there doing
- 41:28Speaker 5: the position drills down the far end zone.
- 41:30Speaker 10: I feel like the only thing that only person we
- 41:32Speaker 10: noticed that was like off to the side was Pop
- 41:34Speaker 10: Douglas yesterday.
- 41:35Speaker 7: Yes, that one.
- 41:36Speaker 5: I definitely, Yeah, Well, Greg had to throw in like that.
- 41:39Speaker 4: He's had knee issues in the past, like you throw
- 41:41Speaker 4: in the like right, oh god, Greg ever.
- 41:43Speaker 5: Ruined my whole day. And I know, like and that
- 41:45Speaker 5: was a part of his contract extensions like that. I
- 41:48Speaker 5: think that was one of the probably one of the
- 41:50Speaker 5: reasons why he took I think a little less knee concerns.
- 41:53Speaker 4: Yeah, but he does almost have a little bit of
- 41:56Speaker 4: the uh it's not as it's not as clearing as
- 41:59Speaker 4: it was with Sleep, but a little bit of those legs.
- 42:01Speaker 5: That kind of you know, go in a little bit.
- 42:03Speaker 4: I guess maybe that's what the interior pass get a
- 42:06Speaker 4: little bit, Yeah, a little knock.
- 42:07Speaker 7: Need a lot more special teams today.
- 42:15Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, there really wasn't much at all yesterday.
- 42:18Speaker 7: Yeah, I'm not seeing it. It's interesting though, because like
- 42:22Speaker 7: they're they have people running down to cover this punt,
- 42:25Speaker 7: but poor kJ Osborne has nobody blocking for them, so
- 42:28Speaker 7: he's just figure it out on his own out there,
- 42:32Speaker 7: just bravemarking it right now.
- 42:35Speaker 3: Freedom, that's a lacrosse Oh really, Yeah, that's what I
- 42:40Speaker 3: was in the movie Melvin Gibson thing. They used to
- 42:43Speaker 3: have a thing on lacrosse, especially torn out tournaments, like
- 42:47Speaker 3: if it was tied at the end instead of like overtime,
- 42:50Speaker 3: they'd have this thing called brave Heart on one one.
- 42:52Speaker 5: On one with the goalie. Yeah, but is that they
- 42:57Speaker 5: call it from the movie each goal and it's based
- 42:59Speaker 5: on all right, face off one on one mano we mano.
- 43:03Speaker 5: That's kind of cool. I've never heard that before. Would
- 43:06Speaker 5: love it.
- 43:07Speaker 7: Braveheart, bigger and girls lacrosse.
- 43:10Speaker 4: Okay, yeah, because as soon as the other guy got
- 43:12Speaker 4: the thing and ran away from me and be like ye.
- 43:13Speaker 5: I'm good, good look goalie, save it thrown up.
- 43:15Speaker 7: To me, it was over very quickly, as he would imagine.
- 43:20Speaker 5: So pop in there doing a little bit of the
- 43:22Speaker 5: ad on one return. Yeah, they can't get him.
- 43:26Speaker 6: Well, did you see what he just did?
- 43:27Speaker 5: Though he did? He did kind of run around Kevin Harris.
- 43:30Speaker 3: It's so subtle, just that little left shoulder twitch that
- 43:35Speaker 3: freezes the guy for a millisecond and then boom, he's gone.
- 43:38Speaker 5: He's got that.
- 43:39Speaker 6: He's special, he's got that.
- 43:40Speaker 5: Question got that quick twitch? Oh god, Polk.
- 43:44Speaker 6: Oh he's a many tyree, Tyree.
- 43:47Speaker 5: I'm not so sure, Jaylen, According to The Boston Globe, Yeah,
- 43:50Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 43:51Speaker 4: I was disappointed he he missed that one yesterday at
- 43:54Speaker 4: the You know, it's kind of reminiscent of Yeah, you know,
- 43:57Speaker 4: when he's like on a post and then he just
- 43:58Speaker 4: lays out for it and a few those of Washington
- 44:00Speaker 4: you're talking about Polk Now.
- 44:02Speaker 5: Yeah, that one yesterday, Like everybody got to air grievances
- 44:06Speaker 5: at the beginning, and I didn't really have anything, and
- 44:09Speaker 5: I didn't. I've been underwhelmed. It doesn't get open. I've
- 44:14Speaker 5: been underwhelmed. That's that's my first impression of him.
- 44:16Speaker 10: Yeah, did you have those same impressions of him when
- 44:20Speaker 10: we drafted him?
- 44:21Speaker 5: No, I didn't, you know, I was just sort of
- 44:23Speaker 5: learning about him.
- 44:23Speaker 4: It's hard to tell how it's going to alter the
- 44:25Speaker 4: draft to the draft. I you know, I like I
- 44:29Speaker 4: like his size, you know I I do. That does
- 44:33Speaker 4: stand out to me. Just he's he's well built for
- 44:35Speaker 4: a receiver, Like he's pretty sturdy. Yeah, that was one
- 44:37Speaker 4: of the things I liked about him when they took him.
- 44:39Speaker 4: I I can't argue with thought Paul on now.
- 44:41Speaker 5: Let me not just some of the bursts I want
- 44:43Speaker 5: to offer to qualifier because I want to be faila.
- 44:49Speaker 5: I'm not calling him a bust. I'm not saying he
- 44:51Speaker 5: can't play. I'm really feel like he's one of those
- 44:55Speaker 5: players that the physicality is important to him, and I
- 44:58Speaker 5: think when he gets pads on, he might be able
- 45:00Speaker 5: to create more separation as a result. So I'm not
- 45:03Speaker 5: calling him to kill Harry for someone. You know, I
- 45:06Speaker 5: can hear ldre Well, Paul's already given up on him,
- 45:10Speaker 5: like this was a bad pick. I'm not saying it
- 45:12Speaker 5: was a bad pick. I'm not saying I'm giving up
- 45:14Speaker 5: on him just through Now. This is five or six
- 45:17Speaker 5: practices I've gotten to watch. You know, I saw Jalen
- 45:20Speaker 5: Rager five yards in the clear yesterday on a deep brawl.
- 45:23Speaker 5: I've seen Javon Baker in OTAs down the sideline five
- 45:28Speaker 5: yards behind guys. Every pass I've seen Tipolk, he's been
- 45:32Speaker 5: somewhat tightly covered and by rookies, not like by Christian Gonzales.
- 45:36Speaker 5: Yesterday was Marcellus Dial had him locked down.
- 45:39Speaker 7: And this is what my concern was watching him at Washington,
- 45:43Speaker 7: was that a lot of his plays are made in
- 45:45Speaker 7: traffic or made with.
- 45:46Speaker 5: Guys all over him. Now, but that might be his thing, right,
- 45:49Speaker 5: and if he's doing it in games, he's got Aaron Dobson.
- 45:53Speaker 7: And I'm right, and I'm not trying to compare him.
- 45:55Speaker 7: I'm not saying it's DeVante Parker either, right, Like the
- 45:58Speaker 7: way that he was doing it with reminded him a
- 46:00Speaker 7: lot more of Jacobe Meyers, where you know, he's not
- 46:03Speaker 7: getting a ton of separation, but he's got that half
- 46:05Speaker 7: a step that if you put it in his catch radius,
- 46:07Speaker 7: he's got really good hands and he's got strong hands
- 46:10Speaker 7: at the catch point.
- 46:11Speaker 5: So I just want to make sure that I'm not
- 46:14Speaker 5: coming off as like this guy. I don't know what
- 46:16Speaker 5: they saw. I'm not saying that at all.
- 46:18Speaker 4: Well, and it's at least you know, again we're highlighting,
- 46:20Speaker 4: like you know, he did catch a touchdown at the
- 46:21Speaker 4: end of mini camp, So I mean, but you know,
- 46:23Speaker 4: to your point, Paul certainly tight throw and you know.
- 46:25Speaker 5: I was going to say play that he wasn't really
- 46:27Speaker 5: hoping all that right, and you know, but.
- 46:29Speaker 4: I think when you look at his physicality, it gives
- 46:31Speaker 4: you a little bit of pause that he'll be able
- 46:33Speaker 4: to play through contact and you know the things that
- 46:35Speaker 4: NI kill Harry, Like as soon as somebody went up.
- 46:37Speaker 5: To the ball, when to kill Harry, Like that other
- 46:39Speaker 5: guy was winning the ball.
- 46:40Speaker 4: He despite his size and strength, he just didn't have
- 46:42Speaker 4: that physicality.
- 46:43Speaker 5: Like those two plays yesterday. If they happened, you know,
- 46:47Speaker 5: a week from now, you know, when they're in full
- 46:50Speaker 5: pads and it's the same kind of stuff, then then
- 46:52Speaker 5: I'll be a little concerned.
- 46:53Speaker 7: Yeah, that was sort of my takeaway, especially the one
- 46:55Speaker 7: that Duce and I you were just mentioning with the
- 46:58Speaker 7: fade over the shoulder Cash. I feel like in a
- 47:01Speaker 7: week or two, May maybe has his speed, the pacing
- 47:05Speaker 7: of the route down a little bit better, and the
- 47:07Speaker 7: ball is a little bit more catchable, and maybe that
- 47:10Speaker 7: pass gets completed once they get some of that timing
- 47:12Speaker 7: and chemistry down because he's that type of guy. He's
- 47:15Speaker 7: gonna have to be thrown open by the quarterback and
- 47:18Speaker 7: that's gonna take some time. Pennix was able to master
- 47:21Speaker 7: it at Washington and he was very productive in that offense.
- 47:25Speaker 7: But you know, when we start to talk about some
- 47:27Speaker 7: of the guys that were drafted around him, this is
- 47:29Speaker 7: why people like me, you know, ad him a little
- 47:31Speaker 7: bit lower than some of these other guys, because you know,
- 47:34Speaker 7: a guy like Lad McConkey, for example, you know, is
- 47:37Speaker 7: a pure separator. He's a technician. Now, Lad mcconkey's not
- 47:41Speaker 7: as big and not as strong as Jalen Polk is.
- 47:44Speaker 7: So to Paul's point, maybe that ends up, you know,
- 47:47Speaker 7: favoring Polk. But I've always been the type of guy
- 47:50Speaker 7: that likes the guys that create tons of separation, the
- 47:53Speaker 7: explosive guys. You know, even a guy like Pop Douglas,
- 47:55Speaker 7: you know that that creates you know, with his route
- 47:59Speaker 7: running it, That's not what I saw with Jalen Polk. Now,
- 48:03Speaker 7: a lot of people at Washington would tell you that
- 48:06Speaker 7: the way that their offense was structured, they were running
- 48:08Speaker 7: four verts every single play and he wasn't really asked to,
- 48:11Speaker 7: you know, have a lot of nuance to his route running.
- 48:15Speaker 7: But he has that capability. It just wasn't brought out
- 48:18Speaker 7: in that Washington offense. So hopefully in the NFL. You know,
- 48:22Speaker 7: he made a catch early in practice yesterday on Marcus Jones,
- 48:26Speaker 7: just a little option route out of the slot, you know,
- 48:28Speaker 7: for eight yards. Like those are the types of catches
- 48:30Speaker 7: he's gonna make, you know, when he's targeted down the field,
- 48:32Speaker 7: I don't think that's gonna be his game.
- 48:35Speaker 3: Just to the side, looking at the crowd, pretty pretty
- 48:39Speaker 3: good crowd today. The hills filled bleachers are you know,
- 48:43Speaker 3: for the most part filled a lot of people not
- 48:45Speaker 3: even sitting down down the chute at the various stands
- 48:49Speaker 3: that they have. So i'd say more people here today
- 48:52Speaker 3: than yesterday.
- 48:54Speaker 5: I don't know which way is up or down anymore
- 48:56Speaker 5: on these things. I would agree with that this more
- 48:58Speaker 5: people there yea than yesterday.
- 48:59Speaker 10: I still say the weather for today, according to the meteorologist,
- 49:04Speaker 10: was not supposed to be great either.
- 49:05Speaker 5: So yeah, I'll be interesting to.
- 49:07Speaker 10: See tomorrow, you know, Sunday, when it's gonn Monday.
- 49:12Speaker 3: I think it's a pretty pretty good crowd today. Okay,
- 49:18Speaker 3: web radio at PETA is the email address. Got a
- 49:23Speaker 3: lot of emails coming in. Cody writes in Badard writing
- 49:26Speaker 3: BS about Barmore, I'm stunned. Can we please launch Greg
- 49:30Speaker 3: Badard to the sun.
- 49:31Speaker 5: Just just to be clear, just because we didn't see
- 49:34Speaker 5: it doesn't mean it's BS. No, I didn't. I didn't
- 49:37Speaker 5: see Barbore leave with Jim Waitlin yesterday. That's what Badard
- 49:42Speaker 5: tweeted that that's what he saw. Yeah, I didn't say
- 49:44Speaker 5: that that was BS. I asked if you guys had
- 49:47Speaker 5: seen it. I missed it, and no one.
- 49:49Speaker 3: I'm sure that he saw us. There's no way he'd
- 49:51Speaker 3: write that if it wasn't true.
- 49:52Speaker 5: Yeah, that's why, Like, I don't want to just say
- 49:54Speaker 5: it was BS. That's not what I'm and I would
- 49:58Speaker 5: say too that.
- 49:59Speaker 4: In my view, Craig Bdard is one of the few
- 50:01Speaker 4: people worth reading on this beat.
- 50:05Speaker 3: Scott rights in.
- 50:06Speaker 7: Okay, it's nice to you to say.
- 50:10Speaker 3: Scott rights in with the Patriots reportedly calling Cincinnati and
- 50:14Speaker 3: the forty nine is about Higgins and Ayug. They've probably
- 50:17Speaker 3: called Dallas about lamb Right feels like he might actually
- 50:21Speaker 3: be a little more realistic trade than ayug with how
- 50:24Speaker 3: unwilling the forty nine ers are. What do you think?
- 50:26Speaker 5: I don't know what makes it more real the opposite?
- 50:28Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 50:29Speaker 3: Well, first of all, is that a report that they
- 50:31Speaker 3: called the second draft?
- 50:35Speaker 6: Okay?
- 50:36Speaker 5: For the draft they suppose that, reportedly, according to Florio,
- 50:40Speaker 5: offered a second round pick before the draft recently, I
- 50:42Speaker 5: haven't heard anything about Cincinnati.
- 50:44Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 50:44Speaker 5: No, And I don't think Lamb is available.
- 50:47Speaker 7: I think there's a zero point zero chance that well
- 50:50Speaker 7: he's holding in right or holding out, holding holding out. Yeah,
- 50:53Speaker 7: but Dallas is not the type of team that lets
- 50:57Speaker 7: their own guys like Ceedee Lamb just walk out the
- 50:59Speaker 7: door like they're.
- 51:00Speaker 5: You want to talk about notoriously cheap Jerry Jones.
- 51:03Speaker 7: Well with the certain aspects of the team.
- 51:05Speaker 6: Chur H Tim our friend from Duncan. I like it.
- 51:10Speaker 3: Paul seems to be fired up for Day two. Nothing
- 51:13Speaker 3: like good roll it back talk. I disagree with him,
- 51:16Speaker 3: but it's great to see he will die on that hill.
- 51:19Speaker 3: I just can't see how you rolled it back with
- 51:20Speaker 3: a totally new quarterback position group, some new tight ends, receivers,
- 51:24Speaker 3: a new running back, et cetera. But hey, I'd be
- 51:26Speaker 3: disappointed if he didn't stick to his point. It's what
- 51:29Speaker 3: makes the show interesting. I also love the Danny on
- 51:32Speaker 3: the Mendola talk.
- 51:35Speaker 5: I don't really understand half of that. Donnie Hunter Henry
- 51:39Speaker 5: is a new tight end.
- 51:41Speaker 7: Austin Hooper didn't get it, so.
- 51:43Speaker 4: You replace Gasicki with Hooperopa, Sony Brody's in the league.
- 51:49Speaker 5: We have to check on that. So quints this.
- 51:54Speaker 7: This one would have seen it.
- 51:55Speaker 3: This one would have to be for Evan because I
- 51:57Speaker 3: wouldn't be able to tell. But Jeff Canada says, I
- 52:00Speaker 3: know it's only been one and a half practices, but
- 52:03Speaker 3: do you see any improvement in Drake May's footwork throwing motion.
- 52:07Speaker 7: I still feel it's a little long.
- 52:08Speaker 3: It's got a little pat, little peck going on.
- 52:10Speaker 7: I still feel it's a little long. But I feel
- 52:13Speaker 7: like maybe it's just something that I'm going to have
- 52:16Speaker 7: to get used to with my eyes because he's taller
- 52:18Speaker 7: and longer than the last couple guys we've had here.
- 52:22Speaker 7: But the one thing that I have noticed with him
- 52:26Speaker 7: is that his footwork seems to be pretty solid. Now
- 52:29Speaker 7: there's no real threat yet to have a pass rush.
- 52:31Speaker 7: So when we get into preseason games and things, like that.
- 52:34Speaker 7: We'll see if those good habits stick. It's easy to
- 52:36Speaker 7: have good footwork when you know you're not gonna get hit,
- 52:39Speaker 7: you know, Let's see what happens when people are coming
- 52:41Speaker 7: after you. But I do see some improvements with his footwork.
- 52:44Speaker 7: I wish that he didn't have a little that backwards
- 52:46Speaker 7: tilt that he tends to have sometimes drives me nuts.
- 52:51Speaker 7: But in general, I think the footwork is the most
- 52:53Speaker 7: important thing, and the other mechanical stuffs.
- 52:57Speaker 3: And Jeff guesses, and I probably think he's right that
- 53:01Speaker 3: between the time he was drafted and now he's been
- 53:03Speaker 3: working on that.
- 53:04Speaker 7: Yeah, so they'd said in the spring, and I'm sure
- 53:06Speaker 7: that it's held true that they've started with the from
- 53:09Speaker 7: the ground up with him. So they haven't tweaked any
- 53:12Speaker 7: of his upper body yet, they haven't tweaked his throwing
- 53:14Speaker 7: motion or any of his mechanics from the waist up.
- 53:18Speaker 7: Right now, they're working just on his feet. And I
- 53:20Speaker 7: have seen some considerable improvement, I would say, from his footwork.
- 53:25Speaker 7: But again it's hard to say until we get into
- 53:28Speaker 7: a live setting and he's actually, you know, facing a
- 53:31Speaker 7: pass run.
- 53:31Speaker 6: Right, let's see.
- 53:35Speaker 3: Emery writes in he says Evan, I'm curious about your
- 53:39Speaker 3: Brissette doesn't matter take. Mayo said on Tuesday that the
- 53:42Speaker 3: standard for may to start is does this guy go
- 53:44Speaker 3: out there and perform better than Jacoby? That makes it
- 53:47Speaker 3: sound like Jacoby's play does matter because it's the bar
- 53:50Speaker 3: that may has to surpass. Do you believe Mayo? Your
- 53:53Speaker 3: take sounds like you think he's lying to us?
- 53:55Speaker 5: No, I tell you what is up right now.
- 53:58Speaker 7: I just don't think it matters. It just it doesn't matter.
- 54:02Speaker 7: I guess it maybe matters a little bit in the
- 54:04Speaker 7: short term, but like none of us are out here
- 54:05Speaker 7: right now to watch, Jakobe said, like, let's face it,
- 54:08Speaker 7: like yeah, and no Patriots fan wants to watch Chakober
- 54:11Speaker 7: said in September and October either.
- 54:12Speaker 3: I understand the spirit of what you're saying.
- 54:15Speaker 7: Yeah, it has nothing to do with calling Mayo a liar.
- 54:17Speaker 7: I don't know where that's coming from. That's just real quick.
- 54:19Speaker 4: Marke Daniels just tweeted out that Barmore is limited today.
- 54:23Speaker 4: He's under the weather, according.
- 54:24Speaker 6: To a source.
- 54:25Speaker 5: Okay, illness, So it wasn't yes yesterday, right, yeah, right,
- 54:30Speaker 5: It's like I just because I didn't see it. No
- 54:32Speaker 5: one on this choke saw. It doesn't mean it didn't happen.
- 54:35Speaker 3: But good to know it's not a knee no, right,
- 54:37Speaker 3: if if you know, illness.
- 54:39Speaker 6: Could be anything.
- 54:39Speaker 5: He's out here, he's still trying to push through early
- 54:41Speaker 5: days of camp. He's a warrior, right, what.
- 54:43Speaker 6: Do you think of loopus?
- 54:44Speaker 8: Think?
- 54:45Speaker 5: Maybe looper? Looper? So I'm curious how you we're allowed
- 54:49Speaker 5: to tweet that stuff out in the middle of practice, now, huh,
- 54:51Speaker 5: I guess I think we always.
- 54:57Speaker 3: Yeah, curious or in curious, Paul, you're gonna write them out.
- 55:00Speaker 5: No, I don't rad anybody out that against the rules
- 55:03Speaker 5: it used to be.
- 55:04Speaker 6: I think we just did rat him out.
- 55:06Speaker 7: I don't know.
- 55:07Speaker 5: Well, if it's not about practice, that's news to you.
- 55:09Speaker 3: Well, it's something that happened in practice.
- 55:11Speaker 7: Maybe against the rules for.
- 55:12Speaker 10: Us sick in practice he was already sick.
- 55:16Speaker 3: No.
- 55:16Speaker 6: No, But if he just said that, oh is he
- 55:18Speaker 6: talking about yesterday?
- 55:19Speaker 5: No? No, No, he's limited right now.
- 55:22Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 55:23Speaker 3: Yeah, So I don't know, that's a that's a gray area.
- 55:26Speaker 5: It might. I mean maybe with people with Mayo it's
- 55:29Speaker 5: it's not right, But with Belichick, that was what I'm
- 55:32Speaker 5: saying upon that.
- 55:33Speaker 3: Tweet could have come out before practice as well. It's
- 55:36Speaker 3: not necessarily something that happened.
- 55:38Speaker 8: In Honestly, let's be real.
- 55:40Speaker 10: If you're the head coach of the Cincinnati Bengals, are
- 55:44Speaker 10: you really going through the beat reporters Twitter to see,
- 55:46Speaker 10: like what is happening in practice?
- 55:48Speaker 7: Not Zach Taylor.
- 55:49Speaker 6: I'm having somebody else.
- 55:50Speaker 5: Somebody's doing it. Yeah, I've got a list on Twitter.
- 55:53Speaker 5: Oh yeah, with all I need, I've.
- 55:56Speaker 8: Just watched the tape. No one has time to be
- 55:58Speaker 8: nitpicking through Twitter to see who's playing.
- 56:00Speaker 5: Oh, there are people who live for it. Yeah, that's
- 56:03Speaker 5: like that. I'm serious. That's someone's job.
- 56:06Speaker 8: Yeah, I feel sorry for that person.
- 56:08Speaker 5: Yeah. Oh yeah, because.
- 56:09Speaker 8: Half of this stuff on Twitter is not true.
- 56:12Speaker 6: That's true.
- 56:13Speaker 7: It's more, I'm sure they're not necessarily looking for Jalen
- 56:17Speaker 7: Rager is great one handed catch. It's more who's their
- 56:19Speaker 7: left tackle?
- 56:20Speaker 6: You know?
- 56:20Speaker 5: Correct?
- 56:22Speaker 7: Yeah? Right, especially when you have new, uh new personnel.
- 56:26Speaker 7: You know, you want to know if there is it
- 56:29Speaker 7: cheap square for a left tackle or is it Kayden
- 56:31Speaker 7: Wallace at left tackle? Because that's going to make a difference.
- 56:33Speaker 4: Wouldn't it be crazy if there was like some football
- 56:35Speaker 4: savant here who just is like literally like tweeting out
- 56:38Speaker 4: their plays, like watching it and like the like the
- 56:40Speaker 4: nitty gritty that like even the lay person wouldn't really understand,
- 56:43Speaker 4: and they're like, oh this one, you know.
- 56:44Speaker 3: Well, it's like they take the you know, they're here
- 56:47Speaker 3: recording on their phone and they go home and they
- 56:48Speaker 3: pad every play like.
- 56:50Speaker 7: Billy, hold, I'm not allowed to do that.
- 56:52Speaker 6: You're not allowed to pad plays anymore.
- 56:54Speaker 7: No, I'm not allowed to tell you what plays they're running.
- 56:57Speaker 6: Well you shouldn't.
- 56:58Speaker 3: Why would you do that?
- 57:00Speaker 7: I don't do it.
- 57:03Speaker 4: So actually, quick, real quick, I tracked down the full
- 57:06Speaker 4: twenty sixteen Patriots playbook online.
- 57:11Speaker 5: I wanted to print but I couldn't. But interesting thing,
- 57:14Speaker 5: I have a new if you want it, do you
- 57:15Speaker 5: have it? We have an older one if you want it.
- 57:17Speaker 4: Well, the interesting thing is that they have each day
- 57:19Speaker 4: of training camp plot it out, and so they have
- 57:22Speaker 4: low red zone, high red zone, you know, like everything
- 57:24Speaker 4: we've watched they started in their exactly.
- 57:27Speaker 3: That's why I was like, Jeff, is this someone who
- 57:30Speaker 3: had the playbook and just said I'm going to put
- 57:32Speaker 3: it out?
- 57:32Speaker 4: I guess it's on a script. You got to like
- 57:36Speaker 4: subscribe to. Actually there's a lot of ads going on.
- 57:38Speaker 4: You got to really you know, sift through it. But
- 57:40Speaker 4: but it's pretty you know, just pretty cool because you're
- 57:43Speaker 4: seeing what they're looking at before the day's practice and
- 57:46Speaker 4: we come in and we're like, oh, they did the
- 57:47Speaker 4: red zone day, but you know, see the actual plays
- 57:50Speaker 4: laid out that they're you know, trying to get through
- 57:52Speaker 4: in a given day of practice.
- 57:53Speaker 3: See, if I was a team, I'd put out fake
- 57:56Speaker 3: playbooks so people think it's our playbook and now there's.
- 58:00Speaker 7: Right, he's done that, Bill's done.
- 58:01Speaker 10: That.
- 58:03Speaker 7: Used to leave playbooks in like the visitors' locker rooms
- 58:06Speaker 7: and stuff like that when they would leave, and so
- 58:08Speaker 7: that the teams thought that they were getting the Patriots playbook.
- 58:10Speaker 7: And it was gazy.
- 58:13Speaker 4: It's kazy the amount of time that went into like
- 58:17Speaker 4: specifically putting in plays that will be like not give
- 58:21Speaker 4: them any clue of what they're actually doing.
- 58:22Speaker 7: Like a lot of you have you have you gone
- 58:25Speaker 7: through seventies protections?
- 58:26Speaker 4: Yet no, I skip the protections because we get the
- 58:29Speaker 4: protections the motions.
- 58:30Speaker 5: You know, it's like yak and all that.
- 58:32Speaker 7: The seventies protections is that's calculus.
- 58:36Speaker 4: No, it's I mean, it's it's it's just fun to
- 58:38Speaker 4: look at it and imagine like having to dive into
- 58:40Speaker 4: that thing and know everything and every motion and every
- 58:43Speaker 4: line shift, and you know every route. You know, single routes,
- 58:47Speaker 4: double roads, three three man routes, like it's all in there.
- 58:50Speaker 4: So I don't know, it's a it's it's jam packed.
- 58:53Speaker 7: Definitely gives you a huge appreciation for the mental side
- 58:58Speaker 7: of it. From a players standpoint, how some of the
- 59:01Speaker 7: you know, these guys master every single play in that playbook,
- 59:06Speaker 7: It's not as easy as it looks.
- 59:07Speaker 5: The flash cars probably flash cars last cards would help me.
- 59:10Speaker 5: That was my thing. Geometry. I think it would be
- 59:13Speaker 5: be hard. And you know, obviously it never played, you know,
- 59:16Speaker 5: at any significant level, but I think it hard. Thirty
- 59:20Speaker 5: two lead on one, power I right, twenty two league,
- 59:22Speaker 5: it's on one. It's on one. I'm gonna switch it
- 59:26Speaker 5: up on second and ten and go power I left.
- 59:28Speaker 5: Twenty three leads You ever going first sound that's always fun. Oh,
- 59:31Speaker 5: any time you went on too, it was a disaster.
- 59:33Speaker 5: It woul might as well have been second and fifteen.
- 59:35Speaker 5: Got that one dumb offensive lineman like Bobby. Yeah, you
- 59:38Speaker 5: missed the DeSantis and Sandro.
- 59:41Speaker 3: Paul, you missed it. Last Tuesday, we had a brainstorming. Uh.
- 59:44Speaker 3: It had to do with statues, and we were talking
- 59:46Speaker 3: about famous statues in Boston and somebody brought up, you know,
- 59:50Speaker 3: Paul Revere, and I said, what about Paul Everett?
- 59:54Speaker 4: I told Paul. Then the joke didn't stand up on them.
- 59:57Speaker 4: But Paul was that was? That was a fred? That
- 59:59Speaker 4: was a Fred gem was that was? That was wonderful.
- 1:00:01Speaker 5: I heard contact. He went over, went over like a
- 1:00:04Speaker 5: lid balloon.
- 1:00:06Speaker 6: People didn't get it at first, but then they got it.
- 1:00:10Speaker 5: Got a town from there, He's from there. You're not
- 1:00:14Speaker 5: even from here. There's not even a statue of Paul Everett.
- 1:00:17Speaker 3: An Everett from Everett to Everest, the Paul Perillo story.
- 1:00:21Speaker 5: From Salkin, from Sorkin to Salkin. Day two of them
- 1:00:28Speaker 5: were already off the rails.
- 1:00:30Speaker 3: Andrew and Bradford writes in uh question mainly for Evan.
- 1:00:34Speaker 6: Sorry guys, but all feel free to comments.
- 1:00:38Speaker 3: Based on the Vegas odds, the Patriots aren't favored in
- 1:00:41Speaker 3: any individual game this year. If the odds are any indication,
- 1:00:44Speaker 3: the team is likely going to be trailing in games
- 1:00:46Speaker 3: a lot for an offense that's supposed to be focused
- 1:00:49Speaker 3: on establishing the run game to set up explosive passes.
- 1:00:52Speaker 3: How will this be impacted if the Patriots fall behind
- 1:00:55Speaker 3: early in a number of their games? What did you
- 1:00:57Speaker 3: notice from a VP offenses in the asked when they
- 1:01:01Speaker 3: did fall behind by multiple scores?
- 1:01:04Speaker 5: Good luck on that one.
- 1:01:05Speaker 7: Yeah, it's a good question, because this is a nippick
- 1:01:07Speaker 7: of my boy, Kyle Shanahan is often that the forty
- 1:01:11Speaker 7: nine ers don't have a ton of comebacks because their
- 1:01:13Speaker 7: offense and their team is an on schedule operation, and
- 1:01:17Speaker 7: it's something that does get nippicked a little bit about
- 1:01:20Speaker 7: this coaching tree and about this offensive system that you know, Yeah,
- 1:01:24Speaker 7: when you are playing at least from a neutral script
- 1:01:28Speaker 7: or ahead, then everything is humming along, and you know,
- 1:01:31Speaker 7: you can run the ball, and you can set up
- 1:01:32Speaker 7: your play action and you can sequence it together, and
- 1:01:35Speaker 7: then you get down by two scores and they tend
- 1:01:38Speaker 7: not to come back in those games because of the
- 1:01:40Speaker 7: way they're built. So it's a good question, and I
- 1:01:43Speaker 7: guess it remains to be seen how much of an
- 1:01:45Speaker 7: impact it has, but it's certainly something that people have
- 1:01:47Speaker 7: talked about in the past with the Shanahan Tree and
- 1:01:50Speaker 7: with this offense.
- 1:01:51Speaker 6: So correct me if I'm wrong.
- 1:01:54Speaker 3: But we're about forty five minutes into this practice and
- 1:01:58Speaker 3: we really haven't seen any offense defense work yet.
- 1:02:01Speaker 5: Yeah, you are not wrong. No, it's been a little different,
- 1:02:03Speaker 5: a little different than yesterday.
- 1:02:05Speaker 8: You're not wrong.
- 1:02:05Speaker 10: But I also feel like yesterday they didn't do special
- 1:02:09Speaker 10: teams work, so maybe that's why they focused a little
- 1:02:12Speaker 10: bit more on that, and then they'll get to the
- 1:02:13Speaker 10: offense defense.
- 1:02:14Speaker 7: We're also fifteen minutes longer today.
- 1:02:17Speaker 5: Yeah, yesterday scheduled to be till twelve forty five today.
- 1:02:21Speaker 5: The running thing, you know, the run to set up
- 1:02:24Speaker 5: the explosive plays. I mean, I would just say that
- 1:02:27Speaker 5: I I agree with that premise and that overall philosophy,
- 1:02:31Speaker 5: but I don't think it's like you don't want to
- 1:02:34Speaker 5: fall behind like obviously, you know, any team would rather.
- 1:02:39Speaker 5: You know, the best teams in football will be the
- 1:02:41Speaker 5: ones that get leads and keep leads and dictate, right,
- 1:02:44Speaker 5: That's the way that the dynasty was built. Yep, you know.
- 1:02:48Speaker 5: But I don't think you necessarily have to run the
- 1:02:51Speaker 5: ball overly effectively to set up those explosive plays. I think,
- 1:02:55Speaker 5: and I heard old friend Mike Lombardi talking about this yesterday.
- 1:02:59Speaker 5: Houston is one of the worst rushing teams in the
- 1:03:01Speaker 5: league last year, and they were one of the most
- 1:03:05Speaker 5: effective at play action. So they couldn't run the ball,
- 1:03:08Speaker 5: but every time they play actions, they were successful doing it.
- 1:03:11Speaker 5: So I don't necessarily think one has to happen for
- 1:03:14Speaker 5: the other to exist.
- 1:03:16Speaker 7: The nerds are applauding you, Paul. They're applauding you because
- 1:03:19Speaker 7: this is something that we've believed.
- 1:03:22Speaker 5: Given Mike Lombardi credit. But I heard him say it
- 1:03:25Speaker 5: and I.
- 1:03:27Speaker 3: Agreed with it, So he's right.
- 1:03:31Speaker 5: There's more than a little fact in that, because I
- 1:03:33Speaker 5: if it was something I didn't agree with, I probably
- 1:03:35Speaker 5: would have ripped him right. But I did agree with
- 1:03:38Speaker 5: thanks giving me some little hope with the nerds.
- 1:03:40Speaker 7: I'm surprised that Michae Lombardi said it because he's a
- 1:03:43Speaker 7: little bit from the old school football type of thing,
- 1:03:47Speaker 7: and this has been a debate between the nerds and
- 1:03:49Speaker 7: and the football you know, the actual football players. I
- 1:03:53Speaker 7: would say, is this whole run game success versus play
- 1:03:58Speaker 7: action success. The data would tell you that volume of
- 1:04:01Speaker 7: running and successive running has no bearing on the success
- 1:04:07Speaker 7: of your play action passing game. Now, the people that
- 1:04:09Speaker 7: play the sport would tell you that body blows matter.
- 1:04:12Speaker 7: You keep getting run you know, they keep running the
- 1:04:14Speaker 7: ball on you, and then eventually that's going to open
- 1:04:16Speaker 7: up play action passes and it's making you more eager
- 1:04:19Speaker 7: to jump into your run fits and all that kind
- 1:04:21Speaker 7: of stuff. But over the course of time. But we
- 1:04:24Speaker 7: have data that suggests that those two are not correlated.
- 1:04:28Speaker 7: What really opens up play action passing is just marrying
- 1:04:31Speaker 7: it to the running game and making it all look
- 1:04:33Speaker 7: the same for the defense, so everything looks like it's
- 1:04:38Speaker 7: a run play until it's not a run play. If
- 1:04:40Speaker 7: you do that type of stuff and you marry the
- 1:04:42Speaker 7: two together, then you'll have play action passing success, not
- 1:04:45Speaker 7: necessarily if you average five yards carry. Now, when the
- 1:04:48Speaker 7: Browns were humming, they were doing both. They were averaging
- 1:04:51Speaker 7: five yards to carry and they were hitting the play
- 1:04:53Speaker 7: action plays. But you know last year with the Browns,
- 1:04:57Speaker 7: they were second in the league in air yards per
- 1:04:59Speaker 7: pass attempt on early downs Like this is not designed
- 1:05:02Speaker 7: to be a dink and dunk offense. You know, they
- 1:05:06Speaker 7: want to throw the ball down the field, they want
- 1:05:08Speaker 7: to push the ball deep. That's a big part of
- 1:05:10Speaker 7: the offense, and it is a little bit different than
- 1:05:13Speaker 7: what we've seen around here. Now when they get into
- 1:05:15Speaker 7: third down, there'll be more traditional West Coast and it
- 1:05:18Speaker 7: will be a little bit more timing based. But in
- 1:05:20Speaker 7: terms of the early down offense, this is a chuck
- 1:05:24Speaker 7: it down the field type of offense. They are not
- 1:05:26Speaker 7: looking to throw five yard slants on first down.
- 1:05:28Speaker 4: It's interesting to me because I think the implication with
- 1:05:31Speaker 4: you know, being able to run affecting you know, is
- 1:05:34Speaker 4: that the defense is like, oh crap, man, we can't
- 1:05:36Speaker 4: stop the run.
- 1:05:37Speaker 5: We got it. We have to get up there every
- 1:05:39Speaker 5: time that we got to play. And it's not really that.
- 1:05:41Speaker 4: It's really more about confusing the defense. It's not about
- 1:05:44Speaker 4: putting them on their heels and saying we can't stop
- 1:05:46Speaker 4: the run. It's that they just don't know and they
- 1:05:49Speaker 4: have to react to the run because they're kind of
- 1:05:51Speaker 4: on their heels already.
- 1:05:52Speaker 5: Yeah, that makes sense.
- 1:05:53Speaker 3: Yep, let's see Louie right sin can Paul just admit
- 1:05:57Speaker 3: he's wrong? But you really name sim Can you really
- 1:06:00Speaker 3: name seven players that we should have let walk and
- 1:06:02Speaker 3: not have resigned? Shape was great two years ago. He's young,
- 1:06:06Speaker 3: and it's a great contract. We were all saying at
- 1:06:08Speaker 3: some point that he might get a big contract from
- 1:06:10Speaker 3: another team, and Jennings was pretty good and that was
- 1:06:13Speaker 3: also a great contract.
- 1:06:14Speaker 5: I mean, come on, Okay, so you I can definitely
- 1:06:16Speaker 5: name seven guys, but you disagree with them. But that's okay,
- 1:06:20Speaker 5: Like we don't have to have the same scouting report
- 1:06:23Speaker 5: on players. I think those guys are jags. You think
- 1:06:25Speaker 5: they were worth resigning. We can disagree on that.
- 1:06:28Speaker 3: Well, but I also think he says they're worth resigning
- 1:06:30Speaker 3: at the contract they resigned them.
- 1:06:32Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't, But I mean, like, so I don't
- 1:06:33Speaker 5: have to admit I was wrong. I just have a
- 1:06:35Speaker 5: different opinion than you.
- 1:06:36Speaker 6: But you need a strong middle class, Paul.
- 1:06:39Speaker 5: Okay, I think that's the whole roster is a middle class.
- 1:06:42Speaker 6: Okay.
- 1:06:43Speaker 5: They need, they need the penthouse is what they need.
- 1:06:45Speaker 5: They need stars.
- 1:06:46Speaker 6: Well, he's wearing agreed.
- 1:06:49Speaker 5: Okayt's relax. I did enough of that yesterday, Tim Wrights, yesterday,
- 1:06:57Speaker 5: in three hours, Tim Rights.
- 1:06:59Speaker 3: And Ryland please change his number. Seeing a kicker wearing
- 1:07:03Speaker 3: thirty seven just looks wrong. He looks like a kid
- 1:07:05Speaker 3: who dresses Rodney Harrison for Halloween.
- 1:07:09Speaker 5: You know, we were talking a little bit about receivers
- 1:07:11Speaker 5: early in this in the in the program, Yes, can
- 1:07:14Speaker 5: I ask you, guys, what if anything you've noticed from
- 1:07:18Speaker 5: Taekwon Thornton.
- 1:07:19Speaker 6: Nothing?
- 1:07:19Speaker 7: Nothing, He fred that was harsh, decent practices in the
- 1:07:25Speaker 7: spring and then immediately got hurt on it or missed.
- 1:07:28Speaker 7: I shouldn't say hurts don't missed. The last day of
- 1:07:30Speaker 7: mini camp. Was invisible yesterday, like Jalen Rager has flat
- 1:07:34Speaker 7: out out played him. Like I know we all think
- 1:07:36Speaker 7: Jalen Rager is a jag to use the las term,
- 1:07:39Speaker 7: but Jalen Rager has just flat out been better, well
- 1:07:42Speaker 7: he should be, and in regular season games, in actual
- 1:07:45Speaker 7: games and in practice.
- 1:07:46Speaker 10: He's a spring long I've been saying I don't have
- 1:07:51Speaker 10: Taekwon Thornton making his team.
- 1:07:52Speaker 5: No, I don't either. But what I meant, more so
- 1:07:55Speaker 5: was not really about how he's playing. Like I talked
- 1:07:58Speaker 5: about all the different guys that were in an out
- 1:08:00Speaker 5: of the line up yesterday, I didn't really notice him,
- 1:08:02Speaker 5: Well where is he He's just he's just he's at
- 1:08:05Speaker 5: the fifty yard line, okay, just on the right from
- 1:08:08Speaker 5: the field, on the right, I see him going, But
- 1:08:11Speaker 5: I like I I saw, you know, a half dozen
- 1:08:14Speaker 5: receivers in and out of the lineup, guys in the slot,
- 1:08:16Speaker 5: guys outside. I didn't really notice eleven a lot yet. No,
- 1:08:19Speaker 5: I didn't notice eighty either. Yeah, I didn't notice it.
- 1:08:22Speaker 5: And now that you bring that up, Mike, I didn't
- 1:08:23Speaker 5: notice a lot of booty either.
- 1:08:24Speaker 7: Yeah, I missed.
- 1:08:25Speaker 5: I missed my booty. I would love to know.
- 1:08:30Speaker 10: I would love to know what's going on in Taekwon
- 1:08:32Speaker 10: Thornton's head, because when you look around your wide receiver
- 1:08:35Speaker 10: room and see, like, not all of us are going
- 1:08:37Speaker 10: to make this team. Like, do you think that your
- 1:08:39Speaker 10: practice yesterday reflected that you should make it?
- 1:08:42Speaker 6: Right now? It sounds like your finger wagging.
- 1:08:44Speaker 5: I don't think that he had anything wrong in practice.
- 1:08:47Speaker 5: I didn't see him. I didn't see him in the
- 1:08:49Speaker 5: in the Yeah, but that's not up to him. That's
- 1:08:52Speaker 5: my point. Like, I just I wonder if they've just
- 1:08:55Speaker 5: kind of written him off off, Like what's that list
- 1:08:58Speaker 5: of guys, Mike that you talked to the other guy,
- 1:09:02Speaker 5: the other low ones he was he was with Jackson,
- 1:09:08Speaker 5: he was with them yesterday was.
- 1:09:11Speaker 7: A little bit too. But I think he's maybe a
- 1:09:13Speaker 7: little bit behind because of the thumb injury, and now
- 1:09:15Speaker 7: he's you know, it was missed a little.
- 1:09:17Speaker 5: Time, but he got some some reps in the sevens and.
- 1:09:19Speaker 7: I did I saw a Taekwon out there. You did
- 1:09:21Speaker 7: see him, okay, because I see him. He was running routes,
- 1:09:27Speaker 7: but in terms of his actually that.
- 1:09:29Speaker 5: Makes me feel better.
- 1:09:30Speaker 7: It was zero and uh, it just it just goes
- 1:09:34Speaker 7: to show how far away he is because they are
- 1:09:37Speaker 7: desperately starving for any sort of vertical speed element to
- 1:09:41Speaker 7: this offense. And you have this guy that runs like
- 1:09:44Speaker 7: the wind but just can't make an impact in an
- 1:09:47Speaker 7: in a football setting, and it's they're starving for it.
- 1:09:50Speaker 7: They're screaming for him. And I see Devon Devon Godshaw
- 1:09:55Speaker 7: sighting overyonder.
- 1:09:58Speaker 5: Yes, oh here he comes walking out.
- 1:10:00Speaker 7: So he I would say, based off of his holding,
- 1:10:03Speaker 7: Demeter is holding in.
- 1:10:05Speaker 3: Yeah. With with back to Thornton, do you think the
- 1:10:09Speaker 3: injuries that he had his first year kind of ruined
- 1:10:13Speaker 3: him a little bit?
- 1:10:14Speaker 6: Like I just don't think he's that good.
- 1:10:17Speaker 4: I know, I just don't think he's a He's not
- 1:10:18Speaker 4: a dog, right, Like I don't want to say like
- 1:10:20Speaker 4: that sounds stupid, but like he's not physical.
- 1:10:24Speaker 5: I mean all he is is tall, like kind of
- 1:10:26Speaker 5: tall and fast.
- 1:10:27Speaker 4: Like he's got no real like physicality to his game.
- 1:10:30Speaker 4: And I think the only hope I had was that
- 1:10:33Speaker 4: in a new offense, they weren't gonna try to like
- 1:10:35Speaker 4: run him into the line or have him trying to
- 1:10:37Speaker 4: crack block guy, you know, like some of the stuff
- 1:10:39Speaker 4: they did when he got hurt. It's like, well, yeah,
- 1:10:40Speaker 4: you're you're sending him into the line, uh, to try
- 1:10:43Speaker 4: to block. I just I don't know, I didn't see it.
- 1:10:46Speaker 4: I mean, I did clock him for one catch yesterday, Booty.
- 1:10:48Speaker 4: I didn't even realize was out here yesterday.
- 1:10:50Speaker 8: Mike.
- 1:10:50Speaker 10: I don't think it's stupid what you said about him
- 1:10:52Speaker 10: not being a dog. I feel like to play both
- 1:10:54Speaker 10: wide receiver and defensive back, you have to have that
- 1:10:56Speaker 10: it factor, that dog in you.
- 1:10:58Speaker 8: Yeah, Like that's part.
- 1:10:59Speaker 4: Even talk A big point from from Hard Knocks, which
- 1:11:03Speaker 4: was like Molik Neighbors who just has that vibe of
- 1:11:06Speaker 4: like I want to win so bad, you know, And
- 1:11:09Speaker 4: it's uh, you know, And I don't mean anything a
- 1:11:11Speaker 4: guy like like his personality wise, like it's just the
- 1:11:13Speaker 4: way he plays the game. It doesn't really you know,
- 1:11:16Speaker 4: you don't see his speed ever really being a factor.
- 1:11:19Speaker 4: I mean, how many the only time he looks really
- 1:11:20Speaker 4: good running is when they do that drill where they
- 1:11:22Speaker 4: have to like every five feet there's a cone and
- 1:11:24Speaker 4: they have to like step over, and you're like, all right,
- 1:11:26Speaker 4: he's he's a long stridery it looks pretty good.
- 1:11:28Speaker 5: But even like just.
- 1:11:29Speaker 4: Comparing him to like the short, choppy, kind of powerful
- 1:11:32Speaker 4: strides Javon Baker's about to go right now that that
- 1:11:36Speaker 4: he kind of runs with just an aggressiveness, and I
- 1:11:38Speaker 4: just I don't see any aggressiveness in take in Taekwon Thornon.
- 1:11:42Speaker 7: I was kind of hoping that up quarterback like May
- 1:11:45Speaker 7: would at least give him us a look about what
- 1:11:48Speaker 7: he could do down the field. Uh, he's built in
- 1:11:51Speaker 7: a lot of ways like tes Walker down in North
- 1:11:54Speaker 7: Carolina who had a great year, Uh well when he
- 1:11:57Speaker 7: was available for his productive for Carolina with Drake May.
- 1:12:01Speaker 7: And you have a quarterback like Drake May that is
- 1:12:03Speaker 7: so good throwing the ball deep that Mac Jones just
- 1:12:07Speaker 7: wasn't necessarily that type of quarterback. So I thought maybe
- 1:12:10Speaker 7: that that could potentially unlock Taekwon a little bit. Where
- 1:12:14Speaker 7: now we have a quarterback that can hit him fifty
- 1:12:16Speaker 7: yards down the field in stride, whereas before maybe you didn't.
- 1:12:19Speaker 7: But so far it's just it does. It's just not there.
- 1:12:22Speaker 5: It's like the Ragger like that should have been Thornton.
- 1:12:24Speaker 4: That should be Thornton doing that Rager thing is today
- 1:12:26Speaker 4: where you know what I mean, and it just has
- 1:12:28Speaker 4: never it is, it hasn't happened.
- 1:12:30Speaker 5: That's not him. Yeah, I totally agree with with Evan.
- 1:12:33Speaker 5: I think Rager has been better. Can I throw out
- 1:12:36Speaker 5: something for Godshaw? Like, you know, I'm just watching me.
- 1:12:39Speaker 5: He doesn't have his helmet with him. He looks like
- 1:12:41Speaker 5: he's just kind of he's watching that mass Live tweet
- 1:12:47Speaker 5: that said that Christian Barmore might be under the weather.
- 1:12:49Speaker 5: I wonder if maybe Godshaw I'm serious, I'm the both
- 1:12:54Speaker 5: defensive linemen.
- 1:12:55Speaker 3: They kind of look like lockers near each other.
- 1:12:59Speaker 5: Just possibility, you know, I don't know. People get them
- 1:13:02Speaker 5: away from the rest of the team. What are we doing?
- 1:13:04Speaker 5: What fenized fragenizing in the middle of the field.
- 1:13:06Speaker 3: That's a good point, Mike, Yeah, we might be holding
- 1:13:10Speaker 3: in on.
- 1:13:11Speaker 5: It could be holding in I mean, my my gut
- 1:13:14Speaker 5: reaction is that it's contractual. It just comes out in
- 1:13:18Speaker 5: the related You guys are ready for team, I'll watch
- 1:13:20Speaker 5: the team for you.
- 1:13:21Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:13:21Speaker 6: So now I think we're gonna get a little team
- 1:13:23Speaker 6: action here.
- 1:13:23Speaker 5: Here you go. Fred usually have to pay extra for that.
- 1:13:26Speaker 6: Cor eleven if anyone's watching. So about an hour.
- 1:13:33Speaker 5: That was pretty good, Paul.
- 1:13:35Speaker 7: This happens when we start to get these two hours.
- 1:13:37Speaker 5: I do know. But now it's like, all right, team periods,
- 1:13:40Speaker 5: let's go all right. So yeah, no bar more here,
- 1:13:45Speaker 5: you know, based on what we had heard, not not
- 1:13:48Speaker 5: really a huge surprise. No, uh, no Judon either.
- 1:13:52Speaker 7: No, Jude's out there out there.
- 1:13:54Speaker 5: I'm sorry, I'm looking at the wrong side. Right, I'm
- 1:13:57Speaker 5: looking at the wrong side armand Watts.
- 1:14:00Speaker 7: Think that's Distra and cut on.
- 1:14:02Speaker 5: But still still no Barmboa though, No no bottom one.
- 1:14:09Speaker 3: Oh oh, and from the looks of it has not
- 1:14:15Speaker 3: yet taken over the starting shot.
- 1:14:18Speaker 8: Thank you, Fred for the obvious.
- 1:14:20Speaker 7: Did he catch that?
- 1:14:21Speaker 5: I think he did? I think I think he caught it.
- 1:14:23Speaker 7: Yeah, okay, I'll give it to him.
- 1:14:25Speaker 5: Wow, who's he? Hunter? Henry Hunter?
- 1:14:28Speaker 3: Hen?
- 1:14:29Speaker 7: I think that's a sack in the game.
- 1:14:30Speaker 5: Oh well, I mean that's that's different. I think he
- 1:14:33Speaker 5: caught it. I think it was.
- 1:14:34Speaker 3: If anyone's interested where Gerard Mayo is, he's behind the offense.
- 1:14:38Speaker 5: So we got we got a little Venerian low now
- 1:14:40Speaker 5: at that right tackles, Is that who we got?
- 1:14:44Speaker 7: Yes? Otherwise I have to admit I do not love
- 1:14:49Speaker 7: He was not very good at right tackle. Is putting
- 1:14:53Speaker 7: it politely?
- 1:14:54Speaker 8: Do you prefer him or Calvin Anderson?
- 1:14:56Speaker 3: Though same right Venerian Lowe was.
- 1:15:00Speaker 7: I know what Vederian Moe is at right tackle, and
- 1:15:02Speaker 7: that's not gonna cut it. At least with Calvin Anderson.
- 1:15:05Speaker 7: There's a little bit of an upside or an unknown.
- 1:15:07Speaker 5: The only thing I'll give Calvin Anderson is when he
- 1:15:10Speaker 5: played last year, knowing what we know now, he was
- 1:15:13Speaker 5: clearly not at a hundred sick. So he was bad.
- 1:15:17Speaker 5: Calvin Anderson was bad in that Miami game. Yes, in
- 1:15:20Speaker 5: week two. I'm still going on some eleven's here ball
- 1:15:27Speaker 5: out quick, yeah.
- 1:15:30Speaker 7: Juju seven, pitch pitch her out, hitch, hitch beat some pressure,
- 1:15:37Speaker 7: got the ball out. And that's what Those are the
- 1:15:39Speaker 7: things that you know. The friend's point about the coaches
- 1:15:42Speaker 7: see things that maybe we don't. The things that you
- 1:15:44Speaker 7: see with Jacoby is that the ball comes out on time. Yeah,
- 1:15:47Speaker 7: and it's not dynamic, it's not dangerous. He's not a
- 1:15:49Speaker 7: playmaker back there, but he gets the ball out on
- 1:15:52Speaker 7: time and he runs the huddle like a professional, and
- 1:15:56Speaker 7: those types of things are what are going to to
- 1:15:59Speaker 7: keep him in in this job right now.
- 1:16:03Speaker 5: So well to Henry at the Tristan Hill out there
- 1:16:08Speaker 5: getting somewhere, is that ninety seven Tristan, Yes it is.
- 1:16:12Speaker 4: It might be this just some little rotation going on.
- 1:16:14Speaker 4: You got schooler going getting some reps with the what
- 1:16:18Speaker 4: would look to be mostly a lot of the starters
- 1:16:20Speaker 4: on defense, Romandre. So you think Rere's gonna be the
- 1:16:29Speaker 4: workhorse if it all goes according to plan. Remandre workhorse,
- 1:16:34Speaker 4: I have no choice. But do you think it's like
- 1:16:36Speaker 4: clean cut where it's that was Kevin Harrison, Remandre or
- 1:16:39Speaker 4: Gibson any down or do you kind of say mostly
- 1:16:42Speaker 4: Romandre first second, Gibson third down?
- 1:16:44Speaker 5: Maybe more of a.
- 1:16:46Speaker 3: Early on you want to establish Romandre as a guy
- 1:16:49Speaker 3: who can also catch the ball.
- 1:16:50Speaker 5: Well that's what I mean, Yeah, you can. He's he's it,
- 1:16:52Speaker 5: He's got that ability.
- 1:16:53Speaker 7: There comes Taekwon Thor and Christian Gonzalez.
- 1:16:56Speaker 5: Yeah, let's watch this one. Here we go the.
- 1:16:58Speaker 7: Right side of your screen.
- 1:16:59Speaker 5: But now I'm seeing Amandre empty, Gus Red.
- 1:17:03Speaker 7: Yeah, and so there we go man coverage.
- 1:17:09Speaker 5: He got open. Oh that's I couldn't hold on.
- 1:17:14Speaker 4: But that again, I think that's everything we've been kind
- 1:17:16Speaker 4: of talking about, which is poke. Poke didn't really separate.
- 1:17:20Speaker 4: Looked like he had a chance though, to come down
- 1:17:21Speaker 4: with it. Couldn't couldn't come down played by Marcus played
- 1:17:24Speaker 4: by Marcus Jones. And like I said, I think we
- 1:17:26Speaker 4: all saw Thornton. If it was quick bang bang, might
- 1:17:30Speaker 4: have might have been a play there for him.
- 1:17:32Speaker 7: That was an empty look and they just had man
- 1:17:35Speaker 7: coverage across the board. Find your shot again.
- 1:17:38Speaker 5: Though, you know, it seems like Drake and quiet, quiet
- 1:17:42Speaker 5: on set, superstars and quiet on.
- 1:17:44Speaker 6: The set, man at work.
- 1:17:52Speaker 5: Yeah, So like that's what's the case yesterday. It's a
- 1:17:55Speaker 5: second offensive line that I.
- 1:17:57Speaker 6: Was saying, really not setting him up to succeed.
- 1:17:59Speaker 5: But when you stay like you did yesterday at right Guard,
- 1:18:03Speaker 5: which I think is interesting.
- 1:18:04Speaker 7: Yeah, we have Osbourne, Henry and Taekwon, so he is
- 1:18:08Speaker 7: getting some of the I think that's Hermond.
- 1:18:10Speaker 5: Yeah, the receiver was just constantly rotating.
- 1:18:13Speaker 7: Yeah, I ze.
- 1:18:19Speaker 3: Friend in school with those daisy dukes, daisy dukes.
- 1:18:24Speaker 7: And then some a little bit more mid zone or
- 1:18:27Speaker 7: inside zone today, that's gonna be the compliment, you know.
- 1:18:30Speaker 5: Yeah, I think Mike and I would think of the
- 1:18:32Speaker 5: same thing.
- 1:18:36Speaker 7: They call it mid zone, which it's semantics, but yeah,
- 1:18:41Speaker 7: that's gonna be the compliment. Right, you're gonna and then
- 1:18:43Speaker 7: you're gonna have some pin poll Paul, which is the curveball.
- 1:18:49Speaker 5: So I throw that stuff at t J all the time.
- 1:18:51Speaker 5: He just mocks me and I do the Fred sniff afterwards. Yeah,
- 1:18:57Speaker 5: I don't want to see more of those pulling.
- 1:18:59Speaker 6: It down the running.
- 1:19:00Speaker 3: We don't like that.
- 1:19:03Speaker 5: But he looked good doing it. Not as good as
- 1:19:05Speaker 5: he did yesterday. No, no, not an Allen. Yesterday was like
- 1:19:07Speaker 5: Nick Josh.
- 1:19:08Speaker 7: He just so pretty.
- 1:19:15Speaker 3: Alex Van Pelt getting a little practice calling in the plays.
- 1:19:18Speaker 3: He's got the walkie talkie.
- 1:19:21Speaker 5: So remember those days twenty twenty two, how many snaps
- 1:19:24Speaker 5: are sent there on that half?
- 1:19:26Speaker 7: He was one, two, three, four five boy alright, So
- 1:19:33Speaker 7: he got Jalen Polk out there with him, and I
- 1:19:35Speaker 7: think that's Rager on the other side.
- 1:19:38Speaker 4: Poke on the outside and Mitchell Wilcox getting some some
- 1:19:41Speaker 4: run on the inside with mister Hooper.
- 1:19:43Speaker 5: The Polk Alex Austin matchup.
- 1:19:46Speaker 7: There what we've all been waiting for.
- 1:19:48Speaker 5: Yeah, he's got him. He got open on that one.
- 1:19:51Speaker 3: Yeah, I didn't see him though, no pressure right away
- 1:19:56Speaker 3: and may Yeah.
- 1:19:57Speaker 7: Yeah, it looked like blown block there.
- 1:20:01Speaker 5: But I liked that route by uh yeah, by Polk
- 1:20:04Speaker 5: on that one. Yeah, that was a little window. Got
- 1:20:06Speaker 5: got good inside leverage right off the right, off the
- 1:20:09Speaker 5: snap leverage fucking mid zone. Know, we stacked him that
- 1:20:17Speaker 5: corner got out of face. The sniff was coming, you know.
- 1:20:21Speaker 5: Receivers are trying to stack the guy. They that's what
- 1:20:23Speaker 5: they try to do. In other words, they try to
- 1:20:27Speaker 5: get the defender behind him so he hasn't had the
- 1:20:29Speaker 5: angle to get around.
- 1:20:30Speaker 4: So and then as I as I put this in
- 1:20:32Speaker 4: my head, so obviously pin and pole you're getting you're
- 1:20:35Speaker 4: getting the end to bite on the zone going the
- 1:20:38Speaker 4: other way, but it's really going no right.
- 1:20:42Speaker 7: No pinin pole is like essentially just the zone.
- 1:20:45Speaker 4: I'm saying like your left, your left tackle is gonna
- 1:20:47Speaker 4: block down and your right, your left guard is gonna
- 1:20:48Speaker 4: come around.
- 1:20:49Speaker 5: So if I'm the right defensive ene. It's like a
- 1:20:53Speaker 5: stunt on defense.
- 1:20:54Speaker 7: Yeah, it's it's the Zone family's version of like counter right,
- 1:20:58Speaker 7: So like you're you're essentially you're gonna pin down and
- 1:21:03Speaker 7: then there's gonna be an unblocked guy for a second,
- 1:21:05Speaker 7: but then you're gonna hear home with the polar and
- 1:21:08Speaker 7: then that's how you pin and poll.
- 1:21:10Speaker 5: It's Andy Greshwood, like that old guy. That's what they're
- 1:21:15Speaker 5: telling Taekwon to do.
- 1:21:17Speaker 7: But yeah, the Browns are were a big pin pole operation,
- 1:21:21Speaker 7: so I would expect to see a bunch of that.
- 1:21:23Speaker 3: Sipping on pin and pull nice laid back I like it.
- 1:21:27Speaker 4: Maman on wat Zone, I don't watch so.
- 1:21:34Speaker 5: I can't resist a little snoop five each. There a
- 1:21:36Speaker 5: little too many running places let them throw.
- 1:21:40Speaker 3: And I don't. I don't. Again, we don't know exactly
- 1:21:42Speaker 3: what they're doing out there, but they didn't have a
- 1:21:44Speaker 3: lot of time. There were a lot of people in
- 1:21:46Speaker 3: the backfield there.
- 1:21:47Speaker 5: Well, they ran the ball three in the place that's
- 1:21:50Speaker 5: kind of unfortunately.
- 1:21:51Speaker 6: A car for it's a big guy.
- 1:21:52Speaker 3: Huh yeah six six.
- 1:21:56Speaker 5: Yeah, I haven't, I haven't. I don't think i've clocked
- 1:21:58Speaker 5: him in person yet. I am curious because.
- 1:22:01Speaker 7: He's got an athletic built.
- 1:22:03Speaker 6: He does.
- 1:22:03Speaker 7: He's built like a left tackle. It's not like they're
- 1:22:06Speaker 7: trying to put you know, like an you know, like
- 1:22:09Speaker 7: who's built stocky like a guard and you're putting him
- 1:22:12Speaker 7: out of a tackle. You can see the body type
- 1:22:14Speaker 7: of a left tackle. It's just all going to be
- 1:22:16Speaker 7: whether or not he can he can flip his his
- 1:22:18Speaker 7: hands and his feet and everything. But you look at
- 1:22:21Speaker 7: him just with your eyes and you see an athletic.
- 1:22:25Speaker 7: He's built, you know, long human being.
- 1:22:31Speaker 5: Who gets done first.
- 1:22:32Speaker 4: God charge, you know, does the hold in work or
- 1:22:36Speaker 4: does the I'll play on it if I have to work.
- 1:22:38Speaker 7: I'm still wondering what Davon Godshaw's leverage or just what
- 1:22:42Speaker 7: his thought processes like.
- 1:22:46Speaker 6: Was this like he.
- 1:22:47Speaker 3: Got an extension last year, right, correct?
- 1:22:49Speaker 6: So then what what was the issue with it?
- 1:22:51Speaker 5: Now? He wants more money because everybody else got.
- 1:22:53Speaker 8: More money, I think, isn't it? Is this the last
- 1:22:56Speaker 8: year of it though?
- 1:22:57Speaker 5: Yeah, this is the last year of his contract. Yeah.
- 1:23:00Speaker 4: No, you know, Jabrill Peppers, he ain't complaining. He's just
- 1:23:02Speaker 4: out there doing what he does.
- 1:23:03Speaker 8: Jabrill is just happy to be here, right, happy to
- 1:23:05Speaker 8: be here.
- 1:23:05Speaker 5: That's why we're best friends. He clearly isn't happy, by
- 1:23:08Speaker 5: the way, but he handled it very well yesterday. But
- 1:23:11Speaker 5: you could tell that he was in that group, like, Hey,
- 1:23:13Speaker 5: where's mine I'd do it. I'd do it, I do
- 1:23:16Speaker 5: it right now. How old is he, Mike, He's I
- 1:23:19Speaker 5: think just a year older than Douggar. Yeah, twenty eight.
- 1:23:23Speaker 5: I think I think Douger's twenty seven. He's twenty eight.
- 1:23:25Speaker 8: I believe.
- 1:23:30Speaker 4: I just I mean, I think he's better than Douglas.
- 1:23:34Speaker 4: I just think they're very different, that's fair.
- 1:23:38Speaker 5: I mean Peppers is more physical, yeah, and I think
- 1:23:41Speaker 5: Douga's pretty physical, but I think Peppers is more physical.
- 1:23:44Speaker 5: I think Douger makes more plays.
- 1:23:46Speaker 7: Yeah, I'm on that. I think dougarug might be a
- 1:23:50Speaker 7: little bit more splashy. Peppers might be a little bit
- 1:23:53Speaker 7: more solid.
- 1:23:54Speaker 3: Peppers is he's he made some plays last year.
- 1:23:57Speaker 5: Did you guys see that? I guess the quote on
- 1:23:58Speaker 5: receiver after Peppers blew up? Uh?
- 1:24:02Speaker 4: Yeah, Adams DeVante Adams remember that last year, like forced
- 1:24:06Speaker 4: the fumble that almost hit the ceiling, like he hit
- 1:24:08Speaker 4: him so hard.
- 1:24:08Speaker 5: Yeah, pissed at Josh running me into it, like getting
- 1:24:13Speaker 5: killed this Thornton and seven on seven Thornton with a catch.
- 1:24:19Speaker 5: So again with Mario Douglas looks like he's on a
- 1:24:22Speaker 5: similar plan as yesterday. Hasn't really done much in the Yeah,
- 1:24:26Speaker 5: he did a teamwork and he's been running sprints back
- 1:24:29Speaker 5: behind the end zone again. Now he's back over.
- 1:24:31Speaker 8: With the special teams. It looked like he was returning.
- 1:24:34Speaker 5: He did do some stuff. I'm kind of confused a
- 1:24:36Speaker 5: little on what's going on. I wonder if it's some
- 1:24:41Speaker 5: kind of upper body injury as opposed to Yeah, maybe
- 1:24:44Speaker 5: you know what I mean, something that prevents who can running.
- 1:24:47Speaker 5: But they don't want him to get shoulders I mean
- 1:24:49Speaker 5: they don't want to from the shoulders thing. Still, did
- 1:24:51Speaker 5: he have a shoulders thing.
- 1:24:52Speaker 4: It was, well, he had a shoulders thing as a
- 1:24:55Speaker 4: roof of any and then last year was a shoulders thing.
- 1:24:59Speaker 5: He had a shoulders th Remember the concussion.
- 1:25:01Speaker 7: Yeah, it's a good question with him. It's it's the
- 1:25:04Speaker 7: only thing that holds me back from saying that he's
- 1:25:06Speaker 7: going to be a really productive, high volume players. Is
- 1:25:11Speaker 7: he durable enough to be able to do that? You know,
- 1:25:13Speaker 7: he's got the talent to be a guy that catches
- 1:25:16Speaker 7: you know sixty five seventy passes in the NFL offense,
- 1:25:19Speaker 7: But is he going to be able to be out there?
- 1:25:22Speaker 3: There's one downfield, they're broken up.
- 1:25:25Speaker 7: There ain't a whole lot of separation.
- 1:25:26Speaker 5: There's your guy, locked him up and put the seat belt.
- 1:25:29Speaker 5: Put the seatbelt on.
- 1:25:30Speaker 8: Bro Mike speak of guys that have that dog in
- 1:25:34Speaker 8: the pepper is definitely.
- 1:25:35Speaker 4: Literally like take the X right, it's in there. That's well,
- 1:25:41Speaker 4: I know who I forget one of the guys.
- 1:25:43Speaker 5: Have you seen the guy? He's built like the incredible Hulk.
- 1:25:46Speaker 7: My favorite bid is how much deuce peer?
- 1:25:49Speaker 5: It's a huge you missed season one? Yes, the best,
- 1:25:53Speaker 5: the best player, the best player on the Is he
- 1:25:57Speaker 5: that far off? That says a lot depends on I
- 1:26:02Speaker 5: didn't ask. I would put him about it in the middle.
- 1:26:05Speaker 3: But now you're playing on Paul's side of the street.
- 1:26:09Speaker 5: That's all right, I dabbled, No, I think that my
- 1:26:11Speaker 5: side of the street is that it's not a no
- 1:26:13Speaker 5: brainer answer. I think you could probably have three or
- 1:26:15Speaker 5: four different answers. Right, Well, he's my.
- 1:26:18Speaker 7: Player on the team, and I still feel like that
- 1:26:20Speaker 7: belt belongs to Matthew Judah until proven.
- 1:26:23Speaker 5: Right, that's and that's what I said. But you know,
- 1:26:25Speaker 5: coming off an injury, wants a contract by the end
- 1:26:27Speaker 5: of the And then the next thing she said, Christian Gonzales,
- 1:26:30Speaker 5: who you know, I don't know, got hurt the same game.
- 1:26:32Speaker 4: No, I mean that's but that's who. It will probably
- 1:26:34Speaker 4: be one of it this year. It'll be one of
- 1:26:36Speaker 4: those three guys.
- 1:26:37Speaker 5: Just to think you don't think I nitpick you Hey
- 1:26:40Speaker 5: wrong enough.
- 1:26:40Speaker 7: Now, Barmore had the best season out of anybody on
- 1:26:43Speaker 7: the team last year.
- 1:26:44Speaker 5: It's good Barmore, I think would be oh ju ju
- 1:26:48Speaker 5: getting redirected. Think bar Moore might be the answer.
- 1:26:51Speaker 8: I think Barbour could be a pro bowler if he
- 1:26:53Speaker 8: says healthy, I.
- 1:26:54Speaker 7: Think he should have been a pro bowler, which Juju doing?
- 1:26:56Speaker 5: Hi ho h?
- 1:26:57Speaker 4: No, Thornton was getting redirected Jacoby Brissett pre snap.
- 1:27:04Speaker 7: Yeah. The Pro Bowl is interesting because, like the voting
- 1:27:06Speaker 7: is always it's no, it's just usually like you have
- 1:27:11Speaker 7: to do it once.
- 1:27:13Speaker 5: I'm just gonna say, Joey sli is out there.
- 1:27:15Speaker 7: Yes, yes, out there. Like your breakout season is not
- 1:27:17Speaker 7: the year you make the Pro Bowl, it's the year
- 1:27:19Speaker 7: after your breakout season.
- 1:27:20Speaker 5: Now you make everybody that happens a lot.
- 1:27:21Speaker 7: Yeah, I feel like Christian Barmore was a pro bowler
- 1:27:23Speaker 7: last year, but it was his first real big season
- 1:27:27Speaker 7: for the Masses. Bricky year was good too.
- 1:27:31Speaker 5: But May's out there all right, don't talking Joey slies
- 1:27:39Speaker 5: about to do something misfiring from forty till Rake kind
- 1:27:43Speaker 5: of pats it a little bit.
- 1:27:44Speaker 7: I don't slant.
- 1:27:46Speaker 5: I don't want slant. I want slants on the back shoulder.
- 1:27:49Speaker 3: And in the UK says, uh, we've spoken a lot
- 1:27:51Speaker 3: about how May needs to beat out Brissette to get
- 1:27:53Speaker 3: the starting job.
- 1:27:54Speaker 6: What a Brisset is really bad? But May is just okay?
- 1:27:57Speaker 6: Who do you start?
- 1:27:58Speaker 5: If May is not ready?
- 1:28:01Speaker 4: Then you start per set right right, Especially to like,
- 1:28:06Speaker 4: I feel like there is value in getting to know,
- 1:28:08Speaker 4: really know your office.
- 1:28:13Speaker 8: You know, you don't want to take back what I said.
- 1:28:14Speaker 5: Yes when you put in so you know when you
- 1:28:16Speaker 5: got when you put in Drake.
- 1:28:17Speaker 4: You kind of have some sense of where your problem
- 1:28:19Speaker 4: areas are, You know what your strength might be, and
- 1:28:22Speaker 4: you can kind of manage it a little bit better
- 1:28:24Speaker 4: rather than going into that first game where for every
- 1:28:26Speaker 4: team it's you're a little blind, you don't know exactly
- 1:28:28Speaker 4: what you got until you start hitting.
- 1:28:30Speaker 5: I completely agree with that.
- 1:28:31Speaker 7: Stevenson just in a little discomfort after this catch.
- 1:28:37Speaker 5: Is he sick? Are you mocking? Just it's going around, Paul.
- 1:28:43Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 1:28:44Speaker 7: It doesn't look like he's seeking out trainers right now,
- 1:28:47Speaker 7: but he he is hunched over there for a second.
- 1:28:50Speaker 5: By the way of it, my ankle still hurts from
- 1:28:52Speaker 5: that fall on Brady Day, just.
- 1:28:54Speaker 8: Tumbling down the stairs.
- 1:28:55Speaker 3: Yes, the older you get, the longer it takes going.
- 1:28:58Speaker 5: I mean, I'm just like today you've arrived.
- 1:29:01Speaker 4: I mean, I think it's I think it's a I
- 1:29:04Speaker 4: was trying to be like, man, I'd be pretty cool
- 1:29:05Speaker 4: for high.
- 1:29:06Speaker 8: Ankle stre We are you texting and walking?
- 1:29:07Speaker 10: Though?
- 1:29:08Speaker 4: Well, technically I was trying to track down my suit
- 1:29:10Speaker 4: for the night, and I was a little bit frazzled Tom,
- 1:29:13Speaker 4: and I was walking downstairs looking at my phone.
- 1:29:15Speaker 5: Folks, don't do it public service announcement. You will fall.
- 1:29:18Speaker 5: Luckily the cut on my right knee, he'll he'll you
- 1:29:20Speaker 5: necessarily fall.
- 1:29:23Speaker 3: That must have hurt, though, Oh no, it's definitely hurt.
- 1:29:25Speaker 10: But my ankle is Did your ego hurt more than
- 1:29:28Speaker 10: the actual cut?
- 1:29:29Speaker 5: Oh?
- 1:29:30Speaker 6: He was crying like message.
- 1:29:31Speaker 5: No, I was glad Evan.
- 1:29:34Speaker 4: As he was going down, I was like, I was
- 1:29:36Speaker 4: almos gonna help him, but I almost I almost.
- 1:29:38Speaker 7: Tried to catch him, but I felt like he was
- 1:29:39Speaker 7: just gonna knock me over.
- 1:29:42Speaker 3: Hurt.
- 1:29:42Speaker 10: Yeah, I think if no one would have been around
- 1:29:45Speaker 10: to see the fall, I wouldn't have.
- 1:29:46Speaker 8: Hurt a batch.
- 1:29:46Speaker 5: See.
- 1:29:47Speaker 4: I'm so demented though that. Like anytime I experienced a
- 1:29:49Speaker 4: minor injury, I always look at it through the like
- 1:29:51Speaker 4: the view of like can I play no, of like
- 1:29:54Speaker 4: a Patriot's injury? Like like so I'm like, I'm like, oh,
- 1:29:56Speaker 4: is this a high ankle? Like is this what it
- 1:29:57Speaker 4: felt like for Cronking? Super Bowl forty six? Like when
- 1:30:00Speaker 4: I heard my ribs, I'm like, man, you know, did
- 1:30:01Speaker 4: Brady play through ribbon jery like this?
- 1:30:03Speaker 7: Like exactly was his face?
- 1:30:05Speaker 5: Seven?
- 1:30:07Speaker 10: Was his face like back going down the stairs after
- 1:30:09Speaker 10: his injury.
- 1:30:12Speaker 5: Talk about moments that to find mac Jones's tenure hair. Yeah,
- 1:30:16Speaker 5: that one boy. Tough picture, tough picture.
- 1:30:19Speaker 7: A couple of completions here in sevens for Drake Many.
- 1:30:22Speaker 5: Another catch for Thornton.
- 1:30:23Speaker 7: Yeah, A quick hitch to kJ Osborne, another shake and
- 1:30:29Speaker 7: Baker to Jabon Baker.
- 1:30:32Speaker 8: I love how you keep saying that Mike shakea bank.
- 1:30:34Speaker 4: Someone else came up with Drake and Bake, and I
- 1:30:36Speaker 4: kind of like that one too, So I don't know
- 1:30:38Speaker 4: if I can steal that.
- 1:30:38Speaker 8: Shake Bake Dragon Bake.
- 1:30:39Speaker 7: He is uh yet to balls yet to hit the
- 1:30:42Speaker 7: ground here in the seven on seven Wow.
- 1:30:45Speaker 5: Wow, Brady, Like for what it's worth, it's not worth average.
- 1:30:49Speaker 7: Depth of target of about five and a half d You.
- 1:30:52Speaker 5: Know I was gonna, I was being nice. I was
- 1:30:54Speaker 5: thinking the ball has also yet to travel more than
- 1:30:56Speaker 5: five yards in the air.
- 1:30:57Speaker 7: But hey, it's context, Paul, it's on Texas Key.
- 1:31:01Speaker 5: I let it go.
- 1:31:01Speaker 10: I forgot who asked this earlier. But do you think
- 1:31:04Speaker 10: the training wheels are going to be on for a.
- 1:31:06Speaker 7: While for Drake may I don't think Drake Mells knows
- 1:31:08Speaker 7: what training wheels are, right, So that's it.
- 1:31:11Speaker 5: I think I wanted it.
- 1:31:12Speaker 7: A big difference is, you know, his playing style wheels
- 1:31:18Speaker 7: is not is not training wheels, Like if you it's
- 1:31:22Speaker 7: gonna be hard to rain that guy in I. I
- 1:31:24Speaker 7: just don't feel like he plays that way at all,
- 1:31:26Speaker 7: Whereas I feel like Mac was always so buttoned up.
- 1:31:30Speaker 5: Something I might find I might be the only one
- 1:31:32Speaker 5: finding interesting. Continuing the seven on sevens Joe Milton before yes.
- 1:31:38Speaker 4: I guess Zapp's day wasn't quite that good yesterday, hold on,
- 1:31:44Speaker 4: hold the phone, but hey, maybe maybe they liked what
- 1:31:48Speaker 4: they saw a couple of reps in Milton yesterday and
- 1:31:50Speaker 4: give them a couple more.
- 1:31:51Speaker 7: He's the reps. Ye, see what he does with him?
- 1:31:55Speaker 5: You can't cut that, arm I haven't been trying to
- 1:31:57Speaker 5: redirect one of your trio of see I it was,
- 1:32:00Speaker 5: Oh and now they're disgusting. I can't stand it, right, Brady,
- 1:32:07Speaker 5: we haven't.
- 1:32:09Speaker 10: It.
- 1:32:09Speaker 5: I'm gonna say I'm going to give Milton a check here,
- 1:32:12Speaker 5: Like he looks like he's annoyed at the receivers for
- 1:32:15Speaker 5: not knowing where they're supposed to be. Come on, guys, whatever,
- 1:32:19Speaker 5: that's good leadership.
- 1:32:20Speaker 7: We got this in the hotel last night.
- 1:32:21Speaker 5: Come on, that's good leadership. You mean the meetings this morning, Evan,
- 1:32:29Speaker 5: Joey Milton quick trigger.
- 1:32:31Speaker 7: See those are the throwers that are just that's gonna
- 1:32:34Speaker 7: be tough for him, you know, slants and stuff.
- 1:32:37Speaker 5: It's not Cam Newton.
- 1:32:38Speaker 4: Because Cam Newton I feel like had to like build
- 1:32:40Speaker 4: up the like many of unleadship, whereas Milton just kind of,
- 1:32:44Speaker 4: you know, it's just a quick kind of unload.
- 1:32:47Speaker 5: It seems like guys have a little trouble fits. Milton
- 1:32:50Speaker 5: doesn't look like he's throwing a bowlder like cam, you know,
- 1:32:53Speaker 5: like the bowling bag bars that he would throw.
- 1:32:57Speaker 3: According to this emailer, News just broke, potential trade candidate
- 1:33:00Speaker 3: and impending free agent Broncos wide receiver Courtland Sutton agreed
- 1:33:04Speaker 3: to our restructured contract.
- 1:33:06Speaker 6: Okay eh, Courtland Sutton.
- 1:33:14Speaker 4: I can't do this with every single receiver who possibly
- 1:33:17Speaker 4: might be available this year. Like no, well, I'm gonna
- 1:33:19Speaker 4: worry about that next year, Like I'm moving on with
- 1:33:21Speaker 4: this group and we're gonna let this play out, and
- 1:33:23Speaker 4: it's probably not gonna be great, but you got to
- 1:33:25Speaker 4: hopefully set the table for next year that that you
- 1:33:27Speaker 4: can try to get that guy.
- 1:33:28Speaker 5: If Mac, you know, if Drake, I think they should
- 1:33:30Speaker 5: be aggressive in the free agent market because somebody's gonna
- 1:33:33Speaker 5: be available. Can't imagine all of these guys are going
- 1:33:36Speaker 5: to get a deal.
- 1:33:38Speaker 8: It seems like, do you think it's gonna come down
- 1:33:40Speaker 8: to more than money?
- 1:33:41Speaker 3: Though?
- 1:33:41Speaker 10: Do you think it's gonna be a situation where someone's
- 1:33:44Speaker 10: gonna want to want to play here under your quarterback.
- 1:33:46Speaker 4: Well that's and that's what I mean, Like, you know,
- 1:33:48Speaker 4: you wanna like we want to feel like that there's
- 1:33:50Speaker 4: a spark from this team and you want the rest
- 1:33:53Speaker 4: of the league to say, geez, you know there's something
- 1:33:55Speaker 4: like what they're doing, yeah Fox, you know, like how
- 1:33:57Speaker 4: do you think Stefan Diggs as much of it as
- 1:33:59Speaker 4: a jerky as like some of that. He must have
- 1:34:01Speaker 4: been excited, you know when he saw what what what
- 1:34:04Speaker 4: Josh Allen was doing. You know it's like, all right,
- 1:34:06Speaker 4: this is a young kid and I'm going to be
- 1:34:07Speaker 4: his guy.
- 1:34:08Speaker 5: And you know it's especially if you say, come.
- 1:34:10Speaker 4: Out of this year and all right, we've got you know,
- 1:34:12Speaker 4: some guys on the inside with with Douglas or Baker
- 1:34:14Speaker 4: who just caught one from Milton.
- 1:34:16Speaker 5: You know, if you could just have one.
- 1:34:17Speaker 4: Or two of these guys emerge next to you know,
- 1:34:20Speaker 4: the role that that that Pop Douglas is kind of filled,
- 1:34:22Speaker 4: which I consider for receivers back catches here for jay.
- 1:34:25Speaker 10: Von Baker because for me personally, like if I'm you know,
- 1:34:30Speaker 10: Brendan Ayuk and if I want to go from Sunny
- 1:34:33Speaker 10: California all the way to the northeast. Like, of course
- 1:34:36Speaker 10: that would come for the bag, but I also want
- 1:34:37Speaker 10: to be playing for a quarterback, not just getting a bag.
- 1:34:40Speaker 8: But then I'm not getting anything on the field.
- 1:34:42Speaker 5: Well, it's not as sunny in San Francisco as it
- 1:34:44Speaker 5: is in l A.
- 1:34:44Speaker 8: And no better rather than here, just as expensive.
- 1:34:49Speaker 5: I'm not sketchy watherwise.
- 1:34:52Speaker 7: That's why I'm not like I'm concerned about waiting all
- 1:34:55Speaker 7: the way to free agency because you're, let's face it
- 1:34:58Speaker 7: right now, you are not an attractive destiny. And we
- 1:35:00Speaker 7: just saw this happened with Calvin Ridley where boom. Yeah,
- 1:35:04Speaker 7: we can say that maybe the Titans offered him a
- 1:35:06Speaker 7: little bit more money, but all things created equal, I
- 1:35:09Speaker 7: think he just wanted to be in Nashville instead of Year,
- 1:35:11Speaker 7: and he wanted to play for that team instead of
- 1:35:13Speaker 7: this team. And that's the difference. Like, if t Higgins
- 1:35:17Speaker 7: is the one prize free agent in the wide receiver
- 1:35:19Speaker 7: market next year, which is where this is trending, he's
- 1:35:21Speaker 7: gonna have ten teams that are going to be interested
- 1:35:23Speaker 7: in signing him and you're just one of the ten.
- 1:35:25Speaker 7: Whereas if you trade for the player that's your he's yours,
- 1:35:29Speaker 7: like you can't you know, Brandon not you no offense,
- 1:35:31Speaker 7: he has no choice. Yeah, if he gets traded from
- 1:35:33Speaker 7: San Francisco to the Patriots, he's a Patriot. There's something
- 1:35:36Speaker 7: you can do about it. So that's my concern about
- 1:35:39Speaker 7: wait until free agency is now you'd get into a
- 1:35:41Speaker 7: bidding war with you know, eight and ten eight eight
- 1:35:44Speaker 7: to ten other teams that all want the guy, and
- 1:35:47Speaker 7: all it takes his one team that he feels like
- 1:35:49Speaker 7: is a little bit better off than you are.
- 1:35:51Speaker 5: And now you it's a really good point. If you
- 1:35:54Speaker 5: wait until free agency, then you have to fight the
- 1:35:56Speaker 5: other thirty one teams. That's why an ideal you just
- 1:35:58Speaker 5: you draft the guy. You know, that's well ideally, we're
- 1:36:03Speaker 5: not worried about it because Polk and Baker are really
- 1:36:05Speaker 5: good as rookies. And you're like, okay, I like what,
- 1:36:07Speaker 5: I like what we have one of those guys. I
- 1:36:09Speaker 5: mean he's profiling as a top flight receiver.
- 1:36:11Speaker 4: That's what no one would say, And I mean it's
- 1:36:12Speaker 4: probably the long long shot of what if those guys.
- 1:36:16Speaker 5: Are actually really good? Ye, It's like, you know, you
- 1:36:19Speaker 5: know the argument that you and I had at the
- 1:36:21Speaker 5: beginning about the offensive line. Absolutely, if all of those
- 1:36:23Speaker 5: things happen, then it changes the narrative.
- 1:36:26Speaker 4: Yeah, but that's and I mean, you know, to be fair,
- 1:36:28Speaker 4: Paul and I intimated this a little bit on when
- 1:36:31Speaker 4: I was on the raid of this morning. It's like,
- 1:36:33Speaker 4: I don't know that the receivers are going to be fine,
- 1:36:35Speaker 4: Like I don't have that kind of you know, you know,
- 1:36:38Speaker 4: optimism that it'll be a okay, I I think they
- 1:36:41Speaker 4: might really struggle, you know, explosive plays down the field,
- 1:36:45Speaker 4: that the stuff that Evan's been talking about that you know,
- 1:36:48Speaker 4: really are the reward of this offense. You know, if
- 1:36:51Speaker 4: you execute this offense on early downs, it's going to
- 1:36:54Speaker 4: open up those big plays and when they're there, you
- 1:36:56Speaker 4: have to be able to hit them. And you know,
- 1:36:58Speaker 4: if they just don't have the horses that can get
- 1:37:00Speaker 4: behind the coverage and you know, really stressed defenses, it's
- 1:37:03Speaker 4: it's just it might not really all come together in
- 1:37:06Speaker 4: the way that it needs to.
- 1:37:07Speaker 3: Oh well, it looks like we're gonna get a little
- 1:37:08Speaker 3: eleven on eleven.
- 1:37:09Speaker 5: Now let's go to eleven eleven eleven.
- 1:37:18Speaker 4: Jock Cooby, jeez, I yeah, Jacoby's seven. The first time
- 1:37:23Speaker 4: he's here, right, I just brain farted back to that
- 1:37:25Speaker 4: in my notes. All of a sudden, for some reason,
- 1:37:27Speaker 4: he was.
- 1:37:28Speaker 3: Donnie, and Pittsburgh writes in Donnie, I read the article
- 1:37:31Speaker 3: about Calvin Anderson's recovery, and he seems to be really
- 1:37:34Speaker 3: gambling on himself. You said he looks healthier already. Can
- 1:37:38Speaker 3: we glean anything else from the eleven on eleven drill
- 1:37:40Speaker 3: so far? Is he quick off the snap? Is he
- 1:37:43Speaker 3: holding his ground aut right tackle?
- 1:37:45Speaker 8: Gosh? All those questions or what I'm hoping to be
- 1:37:47Speaker 8: asking him after practice?
- 1:37:49Speaker 5: And are you got the snap? I don't like. I
- 1:37:52Speaker 5: didn't know that he was sick last year. I don't,
- 1:37:54Speaker 5: and even like visibly, I don't like he had Yeah,
- 1:37:57Speaker 5: I didn't know what he was dealing with last year.
- 1:37:59Speaker 5: I don't. I assume that he's healthier, but you can't
- 1:38:03Speaker 5: see that he's healthier. It looks healthy.
- 1:38:05Speaker 10: And he actually tweeted, and he actually tweeted from his
- 1:38:07Speaker 10: account two days ago. He's actually been two years removed
- 1:38:10Speaker 10: from training camp. So last year and the year before.
- 1:38:13Speaker 7: Wow on Monday. Yeah, I'll have some line talk once
- 1:38:19Speaker 7: the pads come on.
- 1:38:20Speaker 8: But on a serious note, I think I do have
- 1:38:22Speaker 8: him today after practice, So.
- 1:38:25Speaker 7: That's that's the route that they're looking for, but they
- 1:38:28Speaker 7: they need to sell it harder, and I think part
- 1:38:30Speaker 7: of the problem is is that, like the defense is
- 1:38:32Speaker 7: not really expecting you to run the ball right now,
- 1:38:34Speaker 7: so it's kind of harder to sell. But jud is
- 1:38:37Speaker 7: going to be unblocked on that clue let scheme. The
- 1:38:40Speaker 7: idea is that you fake it so hard that he
- 1:38:42Speaker 7: runs himself out of the past rush. At that time
- 1:38:46Speaker 7: he was able to pressure.
- 1:38:48Speaker 5: That's just one of my things. Like you said, the
- 1:38:51Speaker 5: defense is not expecting to run the ball, and I
- 1:38:53Speaker 5: totally agree. I mean, you have immediate pressure, which is fine,
- 1:38:56Speaker 5: but then he's also you know, Peppers and Jones are
- 1:38:58Speaker 5: completely sitting on that route waiting for Polk to come across,
- 1:39:03Speaker 5: and they have them double teamed. It's like they know.
- 1:39:05Speaker 5: So you'll wonder like is it the offense not being
- 1:39:09Speaker 5: able to execute or is the defense kind of just
- 1:39:11Speaker 5: being that much better or is it something where they're
- 1:39:14Speaker 5: just kind of knowing what's coming.
- 1:39:16Speaker 7: Yeah, So that play right there is one of my
- 1:39:18Speaker 7: favorite in this offense. It's a zone rollback pitch, so
- 1:39:23Speaker 7: you're going to pitch it to the running back and
- 1:39:25Speaker 7: he's gonna almost like a counterplay where like his first
- 1:39:28Speaker 7: few steps are to the left and then he's actually
- 1:39:30Speaker 7: gonna roll it back up through the middle of the field.
- 1:39:33Speaker 7: And the teams that are good at it all the time,
- 1:39:36Speaker 7: remember Pittsburgh, like twenty eighteen, twenty nineteen killed the Patriots
- 1:39:40Speaker 7: with that over and over again. So it's a it's
- 1:39:42Speaker 7: a fun play if it's executed properly.
- 1:39:46Speaker 5: I guess, say just a little thing on Deuce's defensive radars.
- 1:39:50Speaker 5: I don't know. And I'm again, this is a file
- 1:39:53Speaker 5: under a day and a half.
- 1:39:54Speaker 7: Of practice that was supposed to be a screen.
- 1:39:57Speaker 4: Yeah, I just I wonder if White is gonna push
- 1:40:01Speaker 4: Dietrich Wise a little bit out of some reps this year.
- 1:40:05Speaker 7: See, like I look at them as different positions, and
- 1:40:08Speaker 7: I feel like that's the whole thing with with Kean
- 1:40:10Speaker 7: White that I still can't wrap my head around. Is
- 1:40:12Speaker 7: is he a hand in the dirt player or is
- 1:40:14Speaker 7: he a standout player like Dietrich Wise is a three
- 1:40:16Speaker 7: four defensive end. He's a hand in the dirt player,
- 1:40:19Speaker 7: and uh, Keon White to me is an outside linebacker.
- 1:40:22Speaker 7: But at two hundred and eighty five pounds you're gonna
- 1:40:26Speaker 7: play outside linebacker like that's asking a lot from an
- 1:40:28Speaker 7: athletics standpoint.
- 1:40:30Speaker 4: So what he's been doing though, I'm just saying, we're
- 1:40:35Speaker 4: seeing a lot more two down then again, I don't know,
- 1:40:38Speaker 4: this is two days of practice, but.
- 1:40:39Speaker 5: You're also you're also missing Godshaw and bar Bore.
- 1:40:45Speaker 7: Yeah, I think that the two down linemen like these
- 1:40:47Speaker 7: are it's because this is passing at this point, right,
- 1:40:51Speaker 7: so they're playing these passing fronts. Now, it's we really
- 1:40:54Speaker 7: have to wait till Monday to see what they're gonna
- 1:40:56Speaker 7: look like base wise. I'm just I'm just throwing it
- 1:40:59Speaker 7: out there, I know, just telling un Yeah, I don't know.
- 1:41:04Speaker 4: Good at a feeling trick Wise over on the left
- 1:41:06Speaker 4: field when they started working, and I don't know, it's
- 1:41:08Speaker 4: a little bad, which is weird because you feel like
- 1:41:11Speaker 4: he should be one of their.
- 1:41:13Speaker 6: When you jus when you say he was on the
- 1:41:15Speaker 6: left field, what does that means.
- 1:41:16Speaker 4: A little bit more of the backup centric guys on
- 1:41:19Speaker 4: the left field, and that's you know Techrick Wise is
- 1:41:21Speaker 4: a vested veteran here. I don't know, just someone caught
- 1:41:25Speaker 4: my eye, but i'd say too with like you know,
- 1:41:28Speaker 4: just with all these reps that were watching, when it's
- 1:41:30Speaker 4: the starters, there's always one or two random dudes in there.
- 1:41:33Speaker 5: Taekwon. Yeah, and that you know, you know the whole
- 1:41:38Speaker 5: like that looked like a regular play. That looks like
- 1:41:41Speaker 5: a regular play. Yeah, he was on the back foot,
- 1:41:44Speaker 5: balls out coming out of his break. Timing was there,
- 1:41:47Speaker 5: he was, you know, created a little separation.
- 1:41:49Speaker 7: Yeah. I definitely see that today from Jacoby. The ball
- 1:41:52Speaker 7: coming out on time a little bit more and he
- 1:41:55Speaker 7: did a nice job there is stepping up around some
- 1:41:57Speaker 7: pressure too. It looked like you kind of helped his
- 1:42:00Speaker 7: offensive lineman by stepping up through the pocket a little bit,
- 1:42:04Speaker 7: so that that was a good drift there all around.
- 1:42:05Speaker 10: You know.
- 1:42:06Speaker 5: During this team period too, I noticed that they had
- 1:42:08Speaker 5: two tights on a couple of plays and it was
- 1:42:12Speaker 5: Mitchell Willcox and is it Petway Yeah, Michael that way.
- 1:42:17Speaker 5: So yeah, some different personnel groups again, much much like
- 1:42:21Speaker 5: was the case yesterday.
- 1:42:22Speaker 7: That's still a sneaky question to me. As well as
- 1:42:25Speaker 7: that inline blocker. I believe they signed Cooper thinking that
- 1:42:29Speaker 7: he's going to be that guy. But you know, in
- 1:42:31Speaker 7: an offense that wants to run the ball like this,
- 1:42:33Speaker 7: I I just don't know if if Hunter Henry is
- 1:42:36Speaker 7: really the best guy to be, you know, digging out nine.
- 1:42:39Speaker 5: Techniques as we like to say, digging out nine tech
- 1:42:42Speaker 5: another one of your zone tosses.
- 1:42:44Speaker 7: Yeah, so don't get hurt.
- 1:42:46Speaker 4: Our just got pancake, Got pancakes.
- 1:42:53Speaker 5: There you go in a non contact drill.
- 1:42:55Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:42:58Speaker 5: I always thought they got Hooper drive the boat. Hooper
- 1:43:01Speaker 5: drives the boat.
- 1:43:02Speaker 7: Chief. I think that was because I picked on your
- 1:43:05Speaker 7: Ditrich Wise tape.
- 1:43:06Speaker 5: Go back to learn the playbook too.
- 1:43:13Speaker 3: I get it, I get it.
- 1:43:18Speaker 5: A little was.
- 1:43:20Speaker 4: Yeah, he's always kind of in the MiGs. You see
- 1:43:22Speaker 4: a little bit of your guy or my guy, Joe
- 1:43:25Speaker 4: Jiles Harris.
- 1:43:25Speaker 7: They just won't quit the Josh blood so huh. They
- 1:43:28Speaker 7: just keep on trying to make that a thing.
- 1:43:32Speaker 5: Nice, nice, And we just gotta get Dietrich Wise with
- 1:43:35Speaker 5: a sack.
- 1:43:35Speaker 7: We just got to get this blocked. Guys, what are
- 1:43:37Speaker 7: we doing? Guy's running through the line.
- 1:43:40Speaker 5: Find it hard to believe that you'd be celebrating after
- 1:43:43Speaker 5: a play like that, So explain it a little.
- 1:43:48Speaker 6: Well.
- 1:43:48Speaker 5: They just said that they had Dietrich Wise have a sack.
- 1:43:51Speaker 5: He tapped him in, threw liked.
- 1:43:57Speaker 8: It.
- 1:43:57Speaker 7: Still feels like they're they're trying to get down there.
- 1:44:01Speaker 7: You know, their assignments when they do try to sell
- 1:44:04Speaker 7: their own as a play action pass and you guys
- 1:44:06Speaker 7: are moving to try to sell them run like a
- 1:44:09Speaker 7: run blocking play. But then it's just leaving guys wide
- 1:44:11Speaker 7: open through the line. So that that Dietrich whis with
- 1:44:14Speaker 7: the unblocked pressure there, I mean, he.
- 1:44:16Speaker 3: Just may.
- 1:44:22Speaker 5: Quiet please. Yeah, we got cheat on the slot.
- 1:44:26Speaker 6: That's it.
- 1:44:26Speaker 5: Oh wow, had a little separation on that play. I
- 1:44:30Speaker 5: like to see it, a little slow development. But he
- 1:44:32Speaker 5: hit that ball well, it comes Jacoby one cut. I
- 1:44:35Speaker 5: did him a little five. I didn't know if he
- 1:44:37Speaker 5: hadn't given handed that ball off.
- 1:44:39Speaker 7: See, those are the things though with him, the the
- 1:44:42Speaker 7: little off platform, like he just didn't even need to
- 1:44:45Speaker 7: step into that bro and the zip to get that
- 1:44:47Speaker 7: to Jail and Polk is there regardless. I mean, the
- 1:44:50Speaker 7: ball just explodes.
- 1:44:51Speaker 3: And by the way, the height matters to play you
- 1:44:55Speaker 3: very you're very close to the line.
- 1:44:58Speaker 7: That might have been an r PO. Yeah, that's that's
- 1:45:01Speaker 7: one I'd have to look back at. But I feel
- 1:45:03Speaker 7: like that might have been an RPO because he held
- 1:45:05Speaker 7: it at the mesh like for.
- 1:45:08Speaker 5: Check the feet.
- 1:45:09Speaker 3: I wish I could the mesh.
- 1:45:12Speaker 4: Surprised you don't have a little lipstick, Kim. You know,
- 1:45:15Speaker 4: I thought about it, secret secret Lazar breakdowns.
- 1:45:19Speaker 5: On the dark Web.
- 1:45:21Speaker 7: Right now, then I'll break the rules.
- 1:45:24Speaker 5: Handoff Bentley probably would have buried him.
- 1:45:31Speaker 7: Yeah, those plays like you know, it's the one yesterday
- 1:45:34Speaker 7: where he throws the juju on the bootleg. It's the
- 1:45:38Speaker 7: feat don't need to be set, he doesn't need to
- 1:45:40Speaker 7: step into it, and it just looks natural. Yeah.
- 1:45:47Speaker 5: So we were talking about Calvin Anderson earlier right tackle
- 1:45:51Speaker 5: yesterday with the first group, left tackle today with the second. Yeah,
- 1:45:55Speaker 5: so as Mao always says, don't read into it, it's
- 1:45:58Speaker 5: going to be fluid.
- 1:45:59Speaker 4: At Kayden will Let's getting some some right tackle snaps.
- 1:46:02Speaker 4: Here with the tubs. It's Mitchell Wilcox kids getting.
- 1:46:08Speaker 7: Getting a lot of work, not a lot of hoop.
- 1:46:11Speaker 5: But today I wonder maybe Hooper's sick.
- 1:46:14Speaker 7: Everybody's sick.
- 1:46:15Speaker 5: He's sick of driving the boat. Quinn. I like the
- 1:46:22Speaker 5: sub was a subtle one. I like it.
- 1:46:25Speaker 7: Miscommunication there on the route Taekwon put his hand up.
- 1:46:28Speaker 3: Is that Taekwon plus someone at his feet or Bolden
- 1:46:33Speaker 3: Bolden good coverage.
- 1:46:34Speaker 4: Yeah, she's kind of like and that's another thing where
- 1:46:38Speaker 4: you just feel like Thornton kind of disappears into Bolden,
- 1:46:40Speaker 4: just kind of gobbled him up.
- 1:46:41Speaker 5: No no real way for him to get away.
- 1:46:44Speaker 7: It looks like Taekwon put his hand up there to
- 1:46:47Speaker 7: drink May. Like, my bad, I should have kept her
- 1:46:49Speaker 7: on it.
- 1:46:49Speaker 5: I agree. I thought that's my best indicating.
- 1:46:55Speaker 7: Because it could never be Drake May's fault.
- 1:46:57Speaker 5: So help out on this show, bro that you go
- 1:47:01Speaker 5: to some much someone else's show for that crap. Oh
- 1:47:09Speaker 5: do you see how we checked that? How we checked
- 1:47:12Speaker 5: that one down?
- 1:47:13Speaker 3: Checked it down like a chap, a little side arm,
- 1:47:17Speaker 3: quick decision.
- 1:47:18Speaker 5: Yeah. Man, So Evan, you were talking about inline blocker.
- 1:47:22Speaker 5: You know, is there a guy that necessarily profiles for
- 1:47:25Speaker 5: a third tight end in that role given the lack
- 1:47:28Speaker 5: of depth in the running back, do you think that
- 1:47:31Speaker 5: that might open the door for a guy like Bell? Well,
- 1:47:34Speaker 5: I would make it as a versatile piece that might
- 1:47:36Speaker 5: be able to play full back or whatever.
- 1:47:38Speaker 7: Yeah, Like, I would hope that Bell makes the team
- 1:47:40Speaker 7: as the third tight end regardless. But he's more of
- 1:47:42Speaker 7: like an off the line player though.
- 1:47:44Speaker 5: You know, no block Yeah, but I mean, because you
- 1:47:47Speaker 5: don't have a lot of depth in the backfield, he
- 1:47:48Speaker 5: might provide some.
- 1:47:50Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:47:51Speaker 7: He also he might be able to carry the football.
- 1:47:53Speaker 7: You know, he could literally carry the football and in
- 1:47:55Speaker 7: a pinch as well. You know he did that in
- 1:47:57Speaker 7: college at South Carolina, played running back, started his career
- 1:48:00Speaker 7: as a running back and then moved the tight end.
- 1:48:03Speaker 7: So he's got a lot of versatility, the types of
- 1:48:07Speaker 7: ones that you'd like to see obviously complete.
- 1:48:10Speaker 5: But Crosser, he looked like he kind of stopped.
- 1:48:12Speaker 7: The Yeah, so he can't blame Drake.
- 1:48:15Speaker 4: It almost looked a little bit like that, uh that
- 1:48:17Speaker 4: incomplete Drake had in cam where it was it was
- 1:48:19Speaker 4: zone guy sat down, he kept throwing it like he's
- 1:48:22Speaker 4: going to keep running.
- 1:48:23Speaker 3: So do you think when the scribes put out these
- 1:48:25Speaker 3: stats today there'll be an asterisk next to that incompletion.
- 1:48:28Speaker 5: Yeah, now we'll give we'll give that context.
- 1:48:30Speaker 7: We'll give them that when they put out the stats.
- 1:48:33Speaker 7: But those are the types of plays that you want
- 1:48:35Speaker 7: to see from Jahim Beldo because then he can catch
- 1:48:37Speaker 7: and run it on the move.
- 1:48:38Speaker 5: But it was funny because I was just talking about it.
- 1:48:41Speaker 5: He lined up in the backfield then he he shifts
- 1:48:43Speaker 5: out to you know, the the tight end spot, you know,
- 1:48:47Speaker 5: kind of an h back and then he runs a
- 1:48:49Speaker 5: quick crosser which is supposed to be his forte. Unfortunately
- 1:48:52Speaker 5: they connect, but yeah, Milton getting some.
- 1:48:54Speaker 3: Reps here third again ahead of Zappi.
- 1:48:56Speaker 5: Yeah, he's got his hands on his hip.
- 1:49:00Speaker 3: She's not happy, his shirts off, and he's doing calistus
- 1:49:03Speaker 3: in the end zone.
- 1:49:04Speaker 5: He's making a signal with his hands. What's he doing,
- 1:49:06Speaker 5: He's doing dance hands.
- 1:49:08Speaker 6: Oh, just who dropped that?
- 1:49:12Speaker 4: Probably just broke a fa I mean Milton had to
- 1:49:15Speaker 4: try to squeeze it in there.
- 1:49:16Speaker 5: It was like between three defenders, and I mean honestly,
- 1:49:19Speaker 5: like the ball was there and I couldn't tell was
- 1:49:21Speaker 5: it in front or behind right front? It looked okay,
- 1:49:24Speaker 5: it looked like so it should have showed that. So
- 1:49:26Speaker 5: it's a good throat.
- 1:49:27Speaker 6: The ball was perfect.
- 1:49:28Speaker 7: Yeah, I think it was a catchupall I wrote drop.
- 1:49:30Speaker 7: I thought I'd give Booty a drop on that one.
- 1:49:32Speaker 7: But those are still the ones that you know, he's
- 1:49:35Speaker 7: throwing that ninety five mile an hour high heat. It's like,
- 1:49:38Speaker 7: you know, good luck catching that for five yards away.
- 1:49:41Speaker 3: But that wasn't five yards away.
- 1:49:43Speaker 7: That was seven.
- 1:49:46Speaker 5: Nice Mike. These are my people now I have them
- 1:49:50Speaker 5: all going back at Fred. It's great. See that's fun.
- 1:49:56Speaker 5: It's just Kelly's got the arm that just get it.
- 1:49:59Speaker 6: Oh yeah, it's just a flick.
- 1:50:01Speaker 5: Yeah, guy in his face just kind of tossed it over. Whatever.
- 1:50:04Speaker 7: It is amazing that the arm talent from what we've
- 1:50:07Speaker 7: watched the last couple of years to these two guys
- 1:50:10Speaker 7: like I have no idea if either one of them
- 1:50:12Speaker 7: are going to pan out, but it's apparent that their
- 1:50:14Speaker 7: arms are just on a different planet right than what
- 1:50:16Speaker 7: we've been watching.
- 1:50:17Speaker 8: I know.
- 1:50:20Speaker 5: Well, you got the North Carolina hat, Paul, Right, that's
- 1:50:22Speaker 5: not today.
- 1:50:23Speaker 8: Oh yeah, we were talking about you yesterday when you
- 1:50:25Speaker 8: left the show Facts.
- 1:50:27Speaker 7: Why what did I do?
- 1:50:28Speaker 8: You had the North Carolina hat?
- 1:50:30Speaker 3: Mary?
- 1:50:30Speaker 5: I thought you were supporting just the hat, just a hat.
- 1:50:33Speaker 3: Guy.
- 1:50:33Speaker 5: He went down there, he scouted, he did it. He
- 1:50:36Speaker 5: bought a shirt.
- 1:50:38Speaker 7: That was me d I was at the right. Let's
- 1:50:41Speaker 7: not forget that.
- 1:50:43Speaker 8: We definitely brought a hat and added to his shrine.
- 1:50:46Speaker 7: Absolutely not. I'm a duchie.
- 1:50:48Speaker 5: It's got to be a tough school to get into
- 1:50:49Speaker 5: out of state. You know, Carolina virtually impos very difficult.
- 1:50:53Speaker 5: But you know, well you got to apply to some schools.
- 1:50:56Speaker 5: You're not going to get into it. Well, when you're
- 1:50:58Speaker 5: the backup center for Femwick, right, you got what do
- 1:51:01Speaker 5: you mean back.
- 1:51:03Speaker 7: James Bell?
- 1:51:04Speaker 5: Oh fumbles? Yeah, see, I didn't see Jaem Bell at
- 1:51:08Speaker 5: all yesterday.
- 1:51:09Speaker 7: He's been involved today. That was a little slant that
- 1:51:11Speaker 7: he caught from Jiff Jill Milton.
- 1:51:13Speaker 3: Milton goes all the way downfield to give him a
- 1:51:15Speaker 3: chest bump.
- 1:51:18Speaker 7: But that's what he's gonna do. I mean, he ran
- 1:51:20Speaker 7: that route from the outside and you know, to Paul's point,
- 1:51:22Speaker 7: he motioned out of the backfield, kind of ran a
- 1:51:25Speaker 7: shallow over the middle from like an off the line
- 1:51:27Speaker 7: position as a tight end. Like he's gonna be able
- 1:51:30Speaker 7: to move around the formation and do some different things.
- 1:51:32Speaker 7: And he's he's dynamic with the ball in his hands.
- 1:51:35Speaker 7: So if they can find ways to get him matchups
- 1:51:37Speaker 7: and get him into foot races against linebackers, and he's
- 1:51:40Speaker 7: somebody that can break off chunk yards. It's not gonna
- 1:51:44Speaker 7: go eighty yards, but you know he can go twenty
- 1:51:46Speaker 7: twenty five at a time.
- 1:51:47Speaker 8: RKK sighting, Yeah, there he is.
- 1:51:54Speaker 6: He's got his bonds will be black on today?
- 1:51:59Speaker 5: Milton, was that Leverett? Who's who's snapping these? I didn't
- 1:52:06Speaker 5: sixty five.
- 1:52:07Speaker 7: Maybe I think is Yeah, that's who I'm seeing is
- 1:52:10Speaker 7: upsetting with himself right now.
- 1:52:15Speaker 3: Sixty eight sixty maffee, yeah, Hoffey, So row'd you get
- 1:52:23Speaker 3: that text?
- 1:52:29Speaker 8: Should do that now?
- 1:52:30Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 1:52:31Speaker 3: Okay, yeah, get ready. I was gonna go downstairs. I
- 1:52:35Speaker 3: guess we're gonna do the player interview down on the field,
- 1:52:38Speaker 3: so good luck.
- 1:52:41Speaker 7: Looks like we might get at least one more rotation
- 1:52:44Speaker 7: for Jacoby Brissett here. I don't know they're gonna fit
- 1:52:47Speaker 7: one in for Drake too, but.
- 1:52:49Speaker 4: Like a little friendly composition for some push ups or
- 1:52:51Speaker 4: something here. Yeah, I like that, you know, finished strong? Yeah,
- 1:52:57Speaker 4: I gotta get down there for those interviews today. I
- 1:52:59Speaker 4: missed all of them, yesterdam felt. I felt like I
- 1:53:03Speaker 4: missed out.
- 1:53:07Speaker 7: A lot more. Taekwon thoring today, Polly a lot more.
- 1:53:09Speaker 5: Yeah. Yeah, I'm glad I mentioned it earlier. The e
- 1:53:12Speaker 5: mention made some catches too.
- 1:53:16Speaker 3: We're in that slow down let them catch it.
- 1:53:20Speaker 5: Must be some installation, yeah, and whatnot? Tosser. See, this
- 1:53:28Speaker 5: is the stuff where I just if people are keeping
- 1:53:30Speaker 5: stats for this. I don't I don't get it.
- 1:53:33Speaker 7: They're not. Luckily, we've we've evolved. I've won that battle.
- 1:53:38Speaker 3: We've understood that Andre gained four point five yards to
- 1:53:41Speaker 3: carry today.
- 1:53:42Speaker 5: Right, suspect effort from the defense on that one. They
- 1:53:47Speaker 5: just they're not bought in. Let them catch it. Glad
- 1:53:55Speaker 5: they got Jalen Hawkins in New Jersey too. They retired
- 1:53:57Speaker 5: the mccordy left over. It's amazing to me that you
- 1:54:01Speaker 5: notice these. So was that that was a that was
- 1:54:05Speaker 5: another B and Evan's Bonnett too?
- 1:54:07Speaker 10: Right?
- 1:54:07Speaker 5: You were that you were disturbed by that? Which one
- 1:54:10Speaker 5: the mccordy jersey on Jalen hip Yeah, I love it.
- 1:54:14Speaker 5: I don't love it what that he's wearing thirty two? No,
- 1:54:17Speaker 5: it was just like it's all dirty and stuff.
- 1:54:19Speaker 7: Yeah, I don't care for it.
- 1:54:20Speaker 5: One.
- 1:54:22Speaker 7: I don't know.
- 1:54:24Speaker 5: That's all. Well, this was This didn't really have a
- 1:54:29Speaker 5: big highlight today.
- 1:54:30Speaker 10: No.
- 1:54:30Speaker 7: I think your boy Jabriel probably had the biggest highlight.
- 1:54:33Speaker 6: I think the longest patch was like maybe fifteen yards
- 1:54:36Speaker 6: or so.
- 1:54:37Speaker 4: I mean we kind of lived off that uh rager
- 1:54:40Speaker 4: catch up the sideline yesterday. But I guess we're stacking
- 1:54:45Speaker 4: stacking day by day.
- 1:54:46Speaker 6: But amazing the.
- 1:54:48Speaker 5: Play that Pepper's made on Henry, you're talking about it.
- 1:54:51Speaker 7: Yes, yeah, I had to say a highlight of the day.
- 1:54:54Speaker 7: I think that was probably the most Marcus Jones made
- 1:54:58Speaker 7: a nice play.
- 1:54:59Speaker 5: Too on I had that written down to.
- 1:55:02Speaker 7: Yeah, basically the same exact play, the same exact route.
- 1:55:12Speaker 4: Jake masonally, get some walk through time, check with me,
- 1:55:14Speaker 4: check with Merito.
- 1:55:19Speaker 3: Alert.
- 1:55:20Speaker 5: They drops back and they let them caught it. Catch it,
- 1:55:25Speaker 5: it's Mitchell Wilcox. You think they could do something about
- 1:55:27Speaker 5: it if they wanted to.
- 1:55:29Speaker 6: You can only hold one play from a and now
- 1:55:31Speaker 6: they're off to the hill.
- 1:55:34Speaker 4: I keep thinking it's Mount Lacos or Matt Sokel or
- 1:55:37Speaker 4: those guys are all kind of blending to all.
- 1:55:39Speaker 5: Of those other guys. You fell in love with it
- 1:55:41Speaker 5: various times in the last five years. Fall in love
- 1:55:43Speaker 5: with Mat Lacos.
- 1:55:43Speaker 4: But uh, but man, I just I can't keep track
- 1:55:46Speaker 4: of our third tight end. It's always kind of seems
- 1:55:48Speaker 4: like the same guy to me.
- 1:55:49Speaker 5: Yeah, it looks like things are wrapping up. Players are
- 1:55:52Speaker 5: heading to the hill for some more conditioning runs to
- 1:55:55Speaker 5: close things out, as was the case yesterday and Dead.
- 1:56:05Speaker 7: I'd say a little bit more involvement for Taekwon and
- 1:56:10Speaker 7: jaem Bell today offensively. And the one thing that's been
- 1:56:13Speaker 7: pretty steady the last two days is Marcus Jones is
- 1:56:16Speaker 7: the top nickel in the starting defense. So you know,
- 1:56:20Speaker 7: I swear I kind of thought, you know, we were
- 1:56:24Speaker 7: headed with that. We'll see if that changes all that
- 1:56:26Speaker 7: stuff down get into the summer. But you know, I
- 1:56:29Speaker 7: feel like Marcus Jones right now has the inside track
- 1:56:32Speaker 7: to be the starting nickel and we'll see how it goes.
- 1:56:35Speaker 7: I am wondering now if we get to, you know,
- 1:56:37Speaker 7: some packages where it's like Marty Mapu or a Dugger
- 1:56:41Speaker 7: Peppers or someone that's a little bit bigger, a little
- 1:56:44Speaker 7: bit gurthier there to handle early downs. But in terms
- 1:56:47Speaker 7: of you know, when teams get into obvious past situations
- 1:56:50Speaker 7: and they want to play three true corners out there,
- 1:56:52Speaker 7: it definitely seems like Marcus Jones is going to be
- 1:56:55Speaker 7: the third corner for now.
- 1:56:59Speaker 4: I think Isaia Boldin's look at you know, I know
- 1:57:01Speaker 4: in the springs, I saw him in the but but
- 1:57:03Speaker 4: you know, he's kind of popped them up here and
- 1:57:05Speaker 4: there a little bit. But I think they said in
- 1:57:07Speaker 4: the spring they still view him more as an outside corner,
- 1:57:11Speaker 4: but not a lot of movement there so far. Hard
- 1:57:13Speaker 4: hard to kind of read into how third corner that.
- 1:57:16Speaker 5: Kind of stopps all playing out, Oh, Marty Mappo.
- 1:57:23Speaker 7: As a so some guys just kind of running on
- 1:57:26Speaker 7: their own, had uh what quality armand watts inside you know,
- 1:57:32Speaker 7: no Barmore, No gotcha. So I saw a lot of
- 1:57:34Speaker 7: that here today.
- 1:57:35Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, are you wonder guys like Daniel quality kind
- 1:57:39Speaker 5: of a I don't know, it just might be a
- 1:57:43Speaker 5: guy they have to kind of rely on this year.
- 1:57:46Speaker 7: You know, he's had some some stretches.
- 1:57:49Speaker 5: He's been reasonably productive as a rush in, sub rusher,
- 1:57:53Speaker 5: disruptive filling in for Barmore a couple of years ago.
- 1:57:55Speaker 5: Is that where he comes? Yeah, they know we got hurt.
- 1:57:57Speaker 7: Last ye, Like you're not gonna he's not gonna hit
- 1:57:59Speaker 7: the that you're additional box score, but you start grading
- 1:58:01Speaker 7: like hurries and just occupying blocks and you know, just
- 1:58:05Speaker 7: doing his job in the past rush on the inside.
- 1:58:08Speaker 7: I think he's someone that's prosperable for sure.
- 1:58:11Speaker 4: It's like if they truly felt great about him or
- 1:58:14Speaker 4: farms or you know, then it would just probably make gotcha,
- 1:58:17Speaker 4: no brainer, and just feel like, all right, dude, you.
- 1:58:19Speaker 5: Know, look, this is where we're at.
- 1:58:21Speaker 4: But I don't know, man, I just I just hope
- 1:58:23Speaker 4: that all this stuff is kind of resolved one way
- 1:58:25Speaker 4: or another and doesn't drag into the season. I don't
- 1:58:27Speaker 4: want to be talking to Matthew Judeene all year with
- 1:58:29Speaker 4: that contract cloud hanging over everything.
- 1:58:32Speaker 3: Well, and for what it's worth, I think jude On
- 1:58:36Speaker 3: showed a lot of energy today. You know, he was
- 1:58:39Speaker 3: running around places, you know, showing up in the backfield
- 1:58:44Speaker 3: when they were doing eight eleven on eleven's he looked active.
- 1:58:48Speaker 3: You know, he doesn't he's not out there body language
- 1:58:52Speaker 3: wise showing that he's upset. Yeah, you know, so that's good.
- 1:58:55Speaker 3: Good for him, Good for him.
- 1:59:00Speaker 4: The Scott Zila Jersey down there too on the field,
- 1:59:02Speaker 4: so frough friends spotted that one.
- 1:59:07Speaker 11: Are well even there's already it is interesting that there
- 1:59:13Speaker 11: are still are certain things that they're still you know,
- 1:59:16Speaker 11: running the hill and yeah, they're gonna still keep a
- 1:59:19Speaker 11: lot of.
- 1:59:20Speaker 3: The Yeah, it wasn't all bad. You know, they won
- 1:59:23Speaker 3: a few games over the last twenty so years, so
- 1:59:25Speaker 3: I heard, Yeah.
- 1:59:26Speaker 5: It's a it's a part of football that I always hated.
- 1:59:29Speaker 5: It's the sprints at the end. It's like we had
- 1:59:33Speaker 5: up in Vermont.
- 1:59:34Speaker 4: We had a really steep hill, like almost ridiculously and
- 1:59:37Speaker 4: we would do that one sometimes.
- 1:59:39Speaker 7: Yeah, we had We had a ridiculously steep hill too,
- 1:59:42Speaker 7: and that both sports I played, Run run that hill.
- 1:59:47Speaker 7: Very fun.
- 1:59:49Speaker 5: All right, well you guys, okay, if I head down
- 1:59:51Speaker 5: there for I'm gonna head down with it.
- 1:59:53Speaker 3: Oh wait, you're gonna leave me here alone.
- 1:59:55Speaker 5: Oh all right, I'll stay. Well, yeah, we're gonna wait,
- 1:59:58Speaker 5: and something needs to be done about that.
- 2:00:00Speaker 6: Yeah, we're gonna wait.
- 2:00:02Speaker 3: Tomorrow is gonna get a player down on the field,
- 2:00:05Speaker 3: so hopefully it'll be a lot quicker than it was yesterday.
- 2:00:11Speaker 3: I think I think she might be talking to Calvin Anderson.
- 2:00:14Speaker 3: We talked about him during the show. He had that
- 2:00:17Speaker 3: illness last year that really no one knew about, and
- 2:00:20Speaker 3: then it came out this year. But I think was
- 2:00:22Speaker 3: it a Boston Globe article that revealed us.
- 2:00:25Speaker 5: Yeah, Christopher Price, Yeah, so he was.
- 2:00:27Speaker 6: He was really sick.
- 2:00:28Speaker 5: He had malaria. Yeah, yeah, it was definitely a significant problem.
- 2:00:33Speaker 3: Yeah, but he's back and out there playing football again,
- 2:00:39Speaker 3: So it'd be nice to catch up with him with
- 2:00:41Speaker 3: Tamarawe see what's up.
- 2:00:50Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean I just think that the overall, like
- 2:00:53Speaker 5: the sort of the tenor of practice. I don't know
- 2:00:56Speaker 5: about how you feel, Freddy. I don't really feel it's
- 2:00:57Speaker 5: all that different. I mean, I think there's the time
- 2:01:00Speaker 5: i'm you know, and things like that that are obviously
- 2:01:03Speaker 5: different than usually nine thirty. It's been eleven. But yeah,
- 2:01:08Speaker 5: maybe they broke up special teams a little bit more.
- 2:01:11Speaker 5: It didn't do much yesterday, did a little more today
- 2:01:15Speaker 5: than last year than they would have done. But I overall,
- 2:01:18Speaker 5: I don't see a tremendous amount of change. It's football.
- 2:01:22Speaker 3: It's football, exactly, Paul. It's football. And I'll bet you
- 2:01:25Speaker 3: if you go around the league, they all look the same.
- 2:01:28Speaker 3: They all pretty much all looked the same. I remember
- 2:01:31Speaker 3: when we instituted, you know, the bus fourth thing, and
- 2:01:33Speaker 3: then I found out every team has a buzz four.
- 2:01:36Speaker 3: They all do the same thing. All these operational guys
- 2:01:39Speaker 3: for all the teams. They talk, oh yeah, we're doing
- 2:01:41Speaker 3: it this way this year, and they collaborate on those things.
- 2:01:45Speaker 3: They collaborate and practices. The only time I saw you
- 2:01:49Speaker 3: make fun of me, But the I do but the
- 2:01:51Speaker 3: only practice I saw that was markedly different than what
- 2:01:55Speaker 3: the Patriots were doing was that time we were in Atlanta.
- 2:01:57Speaker 5: Oh, I don't make fun of that.
- 2:01:59Speaker 3: Yeah, and it was it was you know, you had
- 2:02:01Speaker 3: Smith walking around the head coach for Atlanta and with
- 2:02:04Speaker 3: his pitth helmet on.
- 2:02:05Speaker 2: And this is Patriots Unfiltered, presented by Toyota's official website.
- 2:02:10Speaker 2: For deals, buy a Toyota dot com.
- 2:02:14Speaker 3: All right, we're back here in Patriot's Unfiltered. We're waiting
- 2:02:17Speaker 3: for the on field post practice interview with tomorrow, and
- 2:02:21Speaker 3: we believe it's gonna be Calvin Anderson, who.
- 2:02:23Speaker 5: I see now on the uh far side of the
- 2:02:27Speaker 5: field about the fifteen yard line. Okay, so hopefully he'll
- 2:02:30Speaker 5: make a bee line right over to tom Is he
- 2:02:31Speaker 5: making his way here?
- 2:02:32Speaker 3: I see.
- 2:02:33Speaker 5: It's my favorite part of camp. And see this little
- 2:02:35Speaker 5: girl running on here.
- 2:02:36Speaker 3: Yeah, that's nice.
- 2:02:37Speaker 5: It is my favorite part of camp.
- 2:02:39Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:02:39Speaker 5: I wasn't being sarcastic. I think you think I was
- 2:02:41Speaker 5: being a you know, my typical one.
- 2:02:44Speaker 6: You know this time he cer wit.
- 2:02:45Speaker 3: Players don't get a lot a lot of time to
- 2:02:48Speaker 3: spend with their families during training camp, so it's this
- 2:02:51Speaker 3: post practice stuff. That is really cool seeing the kids
- 2:02:54Speaker 3: running around.
- 2:02:57Speaker 5: Yeah, so we'll try to track Calvin and it looks
- 2:03:00Speaker 5: like he is making his way across the field. Hopefully
- 2:03:04Speaker 5: we can have that and be interested to see, you know,
- 2:03:07Speaker 5: what he has to say about just how I'm sure
- 2:03:09Speaker 5: it's got to be night and day. You know, his
- 2:03:12Speaker 5: mindset and mentality right now than it was at this
- 2:03:15Speaker 5: time last year going through that nightmare. Yep.
- 2:03:20Speaker 3: As usual, the quarterbacks and some of the receivers, even
- 2:03:24Speaker 3: though practice is over, they do a lot of post
- 2:03:28Speaker 3: practice work together, just throwing the ball, working on footwork.
- 2:03:35Speaker 5: And I see one of the members of the media
- 2:03:37Speaker 5: relations staff with Calvin Anderson. So okay, good, I think
- 2:03:43Speaker 5: that might be Julia.
- 2:03:44Speaker 3: Yeah, that's great.
- 2:03:45Speaker 5: He's so hopefully we were close, Freddy. Now, now, how
- 2:03:49Speaker 5: does this work? Because I did not take part in
- 2:03:51Speaker 5: this yesterday.
- 2:03:52Speaker 3: No, it'll just be Tamarrow in a double box. Okay,
- 2:03:55Speaker 3: actually no, it'll be a single box today because yesterday
- 2:03:59Speaker 3: she was up here, but no need for the double
- 2:04:02Speaker 3: box today, so she'll be with him down there.
- 2:04:04Speaker 5: Samara is making her way over. So when that happens,
- 2:04:09Speaker 5: I imagine I can get sprung. Yeah, you can go
- 2:04:12Speaker 5: all right, So I'll make sure that she's hooked up
- 2:04:16Speaker 5: and whatnot before I leave you. Okay, Yeah, any any
- 2:04:21Speaker 5: real takeaways today?
- 2:04:22Speaker 3: No, just building, building toward pads on Monday is really
- 2:04:25Speaker 3: what it is. But I think Thornton, you know Thornton
- 2:04:29Speaker 3: who herd of who?
- 2:04:30Speaker 5: Today? Okay, yeah, so I get her set up. I
- 2:04:34Speaker 5: see the camera ready down there. I don't know if
- 2:04:37Speaker 5: we have any connectivity with Yeah, with Tamara.
- 2:04:44Speaker 3: Good for Thornton to have a day today. We didn't
- 2:04:46Speaker 3: have the highlight reel catch that we had yesterday with Rager.
- 2:04:49Speaker 3: A lot of run work today with Stevenson for set
- 2:04:55Speaker 3: still your starting quarterback.
- 2:04:58Speaker 5: Yeah, and I did. I do think it's know of
- 2:05:00Speaker 5: mild interest to me that Milton went ahead of Zappy today.
- 2:05:10Speaker 6: Yeah, you can go, Paul.
- 2:05:12Speaker 5: I'll let you go, Paul.
- 2:05:13Speaker 3: All right, so let's uh, let's go to Tamara Brown
- 2:05:16Speaker 3: with Calvin Anderson.
- 2:05:20Speaker 10: Calvin, you posted on social media it's been two years
- 2:05:23Speaker 10: since your last training camp.
- 2:05:24Speaker 8: What does it mean to you to be back out here?
- 2:05:26Speaker 5: Yeah? So grateful.
- 2:05:27Speaker 9: I mean it was a it was a trying year
- 2:05:29Speaker 9: in twenty twenty three, but you know, I'm glad to
- 2:05:31Speaker 9: be past it. Be healthy, be better for it. Looking
- 2:05:33Speaker 9: forward to this year, you're.
- 2:05:35Speaker 10: Back out here competing for a job on the offensive line.
- 2:05:37Speaker 10: How do you perceive your role in this team?
- 2:05:39Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 2:05:40Speaker 9: I mean I got to come out obviously and show
- 2:05:42Speaker 9: what I'm capable of doing. You know, I came in
- 2:05:43Speaker 9: last year with a bunch of goals in mind, had
- 2:05:45Speaker 9: a setback. Now it's about how I'm going to respond
- 2:05:47Speaker 9: to that. So now I'm here to show the coaches,
- 2:05:50Speaker 9: this new staff, everybody here what I'm capable of doing
- 2:05:52Speaker 9: and earn the trust of my teammates too.
- 2:05:54Speaker 5: In camp.
- 2:05:54Speaker 10: What's your comfortability with playing right tackle.
- 2:05:57Speaker 8: On this offensive line?
- 2:05:58Speaker 9: Yeah, I mean one of the one of the beautiful
- 2:05:59Speaker 9: skills I was taught early in my career from Mike
- 2:06:01Speaker 9: Munchhak was to be able to play both sides. So
- 2:06:03Speaker 9: my whole career I had to be able to prepare
- 2:06:05Speaker 9: on both sides and be ready to play. So whatever
- 2:06:07Speaker 9: the team needs me to play, as far as right
- 2:06:09Speaker 9: or left, and I'll be ready to do that.
- 2:06:10Speaker 8: What's it like playing underneath AVP and coach Peters?
- 2:06:14Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 2:06:15Speaker 9: Good guys, man, good guys. You never know how it's
- 2:06:17Speaker 9: going to be when you got an overhaul and we
- 2:06:19Speaker 9: lucked out.
- 2:06:20Speaker 7: Man.
- 2:06:20Speaker 9: We got some really good guys up Frond excited to
- 2:06:21Speaker 9: work with them this year.
- 2:06:23Speaker 10: You're going into year six in the NFL. You're one
- 2:06:25Speaker 10: of the veterans on this team. You have a few days,
- 2:06:28Speaker 10: more days of helmets and shells. How does that preparation
- 2:06:31Speaker 10: help you mentally to put on the pads on Monday.
- 2:06:33Speaker 9: Yes, it's important when pads come on. Obviously everything's love,
- 2:06:35Speaker 9: everything's full tempo, but these it's good opportunity right now
- 2:06:38Speaker 9: to mentally get as many reps as you can and
- 2:06:40Speaker 9: make sure you're prepared to transition well. And I think
- 2:06:43Speaker 9: I think we're doing a good job of that upfront.
- 2:06:45Speaker 9: So you know, we'll see, we'll see what happens with
- 2:06:46Speaker 9: the pads come on.
- 2:06:47Speaker 8: Thanks so much, Calvin, and we're glad you're back out there.
- 2:06:49Speaker 5: The pleasure.
- 2:06:49Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 2:06:50Speaker 8: Back to you guys upstairs.
- 2:06:51Speaker 3: All right, Well, that's going to wrap up day two
- 2:06:53Speaker 3: coverage of practice. Thank you Tamara, thank you Calvin Anderson.
