- 0:01Speaker 1: NBA basketball fans, Welcome back to the NBA Playoff Banter Podcast.
- 0:07Speaker 1: He's Marshall, I'm Chris, and we're here to talk some hoops.
- 0:12Speaker 1: You know, that first week into the playoffs, although it
- 0:15Speaker 1: got a great rating, to be fair, you know, it
- 0:19Speaker 1: was pretty light. There was that. There was a lot
- 0:21Speaker 1: of blowouts and kind of a weird start to the
- 0:24Speaker 1: whole thing. But ever since midweek, whenever last week and
- 0:28Speaker 1: this last week and in last night too, has just
- 0:33Speaker 1: been great. We got a lot to talk about. So
- 0:36Speaker 1: we're going to dive into the you know, the the
- 0:40Speaker 1: Knicks and Pistons and Denver Clippers, t Wolf, Lakers, Golden State, Houston. Yeah,
- 0:46Speaker 1: we'll do some of that other East Coast stuff. The
- 0:49Speaker 1: series that are either over or almost over will kind
- 0:52Speaker 1: of stash. Like the Celtics. It's really what that one is,
- 0:58Speaker 1: you know, is it over? Is it done? We'll find
- 1:01Speaker 1: out tonight. They have had some injuries of like something
- 1:05Speaker 1: to keep an eye on. Tatum missed the game. Drew
- 1:08Speaker 1: Holiday missed the game with a hamstring. When you hear hamstring,
- 1:11Speaker 1: you just never quite know how that's gonna go. One
- 1:16Speaker 1: thing that is certain, they're letting them play the physicality,
- 1:24Speaker 1: even someone who you know was there for the eighties
- 1:27Speaker 1: and nineties and early two thousands, you can make an
- 1:32Speaker 1: argument they may be letting them play a little too
- 1:35Speaker 1: much because, you know, one of the topics we're going
- 1:38Speaker 1: to talk about is the calls at the end of games,
- 1:41Speaker 1: or maybe I should say no calls at the end
- 1:45Speaker 1: of the game, which on the surface is cool, but
- 1:50Speaker 1: you know, there is some I don't know. It kind
- 1:54Speaker 1: of makes me think they should just be let them
- 1:56Speaker 1: be more physical during the year. Man. You know, I'm
- 1:59Speaker 1: not saying all the way back to being able to
- 2:01Speaker 1: close slide someone on a you know, on a breakaway.
- 2:05Speaker 1: But it's just funky. That Detroit We're gonna start there
- 2:09Speaker 1: with the Nixon Pistons, but that Detroit series is in
- 2:12Speaker 1: a nutshell is a perfect example. It's like a lot
- 2:15Speaker 1: of calls you could make, but that last one was
- 2:19Speaker 1: a faull. But then again, I just got done watching
- 2:23Speaker 1: a bunch of files that didn't get called. So it's
- 2:25Speaker 1: a little funky. But like I said, it's been great.
- 2:29Speaker 1: We're gonna get into it and kind of you know,
- 2:31Speaker 1: not just recap, but you know, talk it, talk it through,
- 2:34Speaker 1: see what's gonna happen because you know before you know
- 2:38Speaker 1: it here, maybe as early as Saturday and Sunday, but
- 2:43Speaker 1: for sure Monday and Tuesday, the round two is gonna
- 2:47Speaker 1: kick in. And Round two is kind of sneaky. It
- 2:50Speaker 1: just kicks in and you're damn near every other day
- 2:53Speaker 1: they always have these large gaps in the first round
- 2:56Speaker 1: because they want to get everything televised. Like tonight there's
- 2:59Speaker 1: four freaking games on. So yeah, we're gonna get into
- 3:03Speaker 1: it in just a second. Of this year, first time
- 3:05Speaker 1: listening to the playoff NBA Playoff Banter podcast, Welcome. It's

- 4:07Speaker 1: for the first three months, and then the Ultimate Package
- 4:09Speaker 1: that includes over one hundred and sixty channels one to
- 4:11Speaker 1: nine ninety nine per month. All ride, let's start. First
- 4:17Speaker 1: of all, let's bring in Marshall see how he's doing.
- 4:19Speaker 1: But let's get going on this Nicks pistons. It's obviously
- 4:23Speaker 1: live as we speak. We're not gonna break it down,
- 4:28Speaker 1: you know, uh, play by play why it's going on.
- 4:32Speaker 1: But it's been a fun game pretty much all the
- 4:35Speaker 1: games have been fun. If a team does get a lead,
- 4:40Speaker 1: it's not gonna last long because they come storming back,
- 4:43Speaker 1: as we saw in game one actually and sought you know,
- 4:47Speaker 1: in the last game, Game four, they were going back
- 4:50Speaker 1: and forth with that. They take the lead, they take
- 4:53Speaker 1: the lead. What are your thoughts on this one, man,
- 4:56Speaker 1: Because we talked about this last Monday thing in that
- 5:01Speaker 1: it has a chance to go far because the Knicks
- 5:05Speaker 1: aren't that deep and they're pretty offensive based. And the
- 5:11Speaker 1: Piston but the but the Pistons are inexperience as a unit.
- 5:16Speaker 1: Although you know it's all based around a young up
- 5:19Speaker 1: and coming stud but they do have as you even
- 5:23Speaker 1: laid out a couple of times as far as listing players,
- 5:26Speaker 1: they do have a lot of vets on the team.
- 5:28Speaker 1: So I think both teams have kind of gone over
- 5:33Speaker 1: their head a little bit, like they they've they've played
- 5:36Speaker 1: over their their not ability. But I think the Pistons
- 5:39Speaker 1: have played pretty.
- 5:41Speaker 2: Damn great in many ways, and also, like the Knicks
- 5:46Speaker 2: defense at times have been I gotta admit, it's been
- 5:49Speaker 2: better than I thought it would be.
- 5:54Speaker 3: Hey, and life is good, man. I I've been missing
- 5:56Speaker 3: out on a lot of sleep. I actually take an
- 5:58Speaker 3: app at work today because it's either a hockey playoff
- 6:00Speaker 3: game or a basketball playoff game. And I'm like that,
- 6:02Speaker 3: going to bed till midnight. I just told I told
- 6:05Speaker 3: my fiance, like that, just this time of the year,
- 6:08Speaker 3: you're gonna have some West Coast sport. I love hockey too,
- 6:11Speaker 3: so it's like last night I watched the Warriors. I
- 6:12Speaker 3: ain't going to BET's like twelve oh three. You know,
- 6:14Speaker 3: so it's just that tonight, same thing. There's a good
- 6:16Speaker 3: basketblall and hockey. So I'm just gonna enjoy the sport
- 6:19Speaker 3: time of the year. Uh, start off with this series. Yeah,
- 6:24Speaker 3: you know, I think that the the signs are looking
- 6:29Speaker 3: good for Detroit right now. Obviously, free markets can change
- 6:32Speaker 3: as much as college sports nowadays, but they do sometimes
- 6:35Speaker 3: move buys around. But I think Detroit kind of a nucleus.
- 6:37Speaker 3: You got cutting Ham, you got a big and you
- 6:41Speaker 3: can't shout almost some like pretty quality vets. So I
- 6:43Speaker 3: think even if the Pistons were to lose sight, you
- 6:46Speaker 3: gotta be pretty happy for the trajection. Trajection you're going
- 6:50Speaker 3: towards like this is a team that lost twenty games
- 6:53Speaker 3: in a row a couple of years ago, was kind
- 6:54Speaker 3: of a joke in the league, and now you're put
- 6:57Speaker 3: up a great fight round one when no one really
- 6:59Speaker 3: expected it.
- 7:00Speaker 1: So, uh like the second biggest turnaround wins wise, besides
- 7:05Speaker 1: that Celtics team a chunk of years ago, I think
- 7:08Speaker 1: something like that. They made a big jump this year.
- 7:11Speaker 3: So again credit to the staff because that that's that's hey,
- 7:16Speaker 3: and to the staff and the GM like you found
- 7:18Speaker 3: a good matter again, not like a high class Rocky
- 7:21Speaker 3: Bell like B level vets to go with the young
- 7:24Speaker 3: studs and you're you put together a really good squad.
- 7:27Speaker 3: So you know, obviously the main talking play of the
- 7:31Speaker 3: series was well, well, first of all, the main talking
- 7:35Speaker 3: point should be it's been a great series. It's been fun,
- 7:37Speaker 3: it's been competitive from the starting physical yeah, physical, hell
- 7:42Speaker 3: the and this out of all the series. If you
- 7:45Speaker 3: looked at if you did not know the series lead,
- 7:50Speaker 3: like who was up whatever, games to whatever, if you
- 7:53Speaker 3: just had people watch the games and o'b seeing the
- 7:55Speaker 3: final score, you'd be like, okay, well, i'm gonna say
- 7:58Speaker 3: that Detroit's up like three games to one, or it's
- 8:00Speaker 3: two to two. Like for you to see, dude, that
- 8:04Speaker 3: Detroit's actually down the series three games to one, you'd
- 8:07Speaker 3: be like, well, that doesn't make any sense if you
- 8:09Speaker 3: look like stats and stuff. So they've kind of had
- 8:12Speaker 3: some bad luck, like in Game one, super close game
- 8:15Speaker 3: that Game four they had a whistle that definitely did
- 8:17Speaker 3: not go their ways. So and part of its sports
- 8:20Speaker 3: like there's always a lady luck involved.
- 8:22Speaker 1: But in Game one they gave up a big lead
- 8:24Speaker 1: in the fourth too, so I don't think that's unlucky,
- 8:27Speaker 1: you know what I mean?
- 8:27Speaker 3: No, no, the well game for you, but no, you're right,
- 8:30Speaker 3: But it's just you look at it where you're like, damn,
- 8:32Speaker 3: like we could have this this series. It could be
- 8:35Speaker 3: a two to two or maybe Detroit could even be
- 8:37Speaker 3: up three to one. So I do think it comes
- 8:41Speaker 3: learning comes within experience, right in night out ten times. Uh.
- 8:45Speaker 3: For a team to win a title, they have to
- 8:48Speaker 3: go through some growing pains and this is like kind
- 8:49Speaker 3: of their first rodeo together for this squad. But it's
- 8:56Speaker 3: it's just been a fun series. It really has. I
- 8:58Speaker 3: think this is a series we can see a few
- 9:00Speaker 3: true because I think both these teams are comedian next year.
- 9:06Speaker 3: I think Detroit is that. I don't think this is
- 9:08Speaker 3: just a one year hiccup. Chris, Hey, so cutting you
- 9:11Speaker 3: have has been great this series.
- 9:13Speaker 1: You're right.
- 9:14Speaker 3: The physicality, that's that's been a big factor in this series,
- 9:16Speaker 3: but it's also been a big factor across the league.
- 9:19Speaker 3: I've heard, like on multiple podcasts on ESPN, everyone's been
- 9:23Speaker 3: talking about how man they're really letting the players play,
- 9:26Speaker 3: which is as cool like basketball is the more physically
- 9:30Speaker 3: used to be. But you know, it's like what memo
- 9:34Speaker 3: got past that had such a drastic change. I guess
- 9:38Speaker 3: I could say this now instead of saying it like
- 9:40Speaker 3: for eight more times. But it's like, if you want
- 9:43Speaker 3: the sports more physical, I'm I'm fine with that, But
- 9:47Speaker 3: what why.
- 9:48Speaker 4: I can't hear you. Don't hang up, but I can't
- 9:50Speaker 4: hear you right now? Hello, I got you? Now, Okay,
- 9:56Speaker 4: I'm sorry. I think someone called I just send it
- 9:58Speaker 4: to my smail.
- 10:00Speaker 3: So why have we had such a drastic change of
- 10:03Speaker 3: just from the game in the regular season until now, Like, hey,
- 10:06Speaker 3: physical play? If that that, that's cool. I don't think
- 10:08Speaker 3: it was arguing about it, but it really has, Chris
- 10:11Speaker 3: seemed like a different sport we're watching to where a
- 10:15Speaker 3: lot of things that you would see called a foul
- 10:17Speaker 3: in the regular season are just play ons now. But
- 10:21Speaker 3: it's like, damn, well, this play Like it's almost like
- 10:24Speaker 3: now it's the player Where're like, well, if so if
- 10:27Speaker 3: if physical plays physical play to play on play on
- 10:29Speaker 3: when the refs do call foul, now that almost has
- 10:31Speaker 3: to have a player confused, like, dude, I just body
- 10:34Speaker 3: that guy down there and he blocked my shot, But
- 10:37Speaker 3: now I get called for this Nickeld time foul like
- 10:39Speaker 3: it kind of doesn't make the kind of puts the
- 10:41Speaker 3: rests in a tough spot where, hey, we're gonna let
- 10:43Speaker 3: more physical play happen. So they do start calling fouls
- 10:46Speaker 3: now of the players probably thinking in my head like, dude, well,
- 10:48Speaker 3: what is a foul now? Like it definitely has got up.
- 10:52Speaker 3: But I do think the ref's kind of dug themselves
- 10:54Speaker 3: bit a hole out too, because if you're gonna let
- 10:56Speaker 3: a lot of stuff happen when you do call the
- 10:57Speaker 3: fouls now the player in the back of this man's
- 10:59Speaker 3: got a one. What am I allowed to get away
- 11:01Speaker 3: with now? And whatnot?
- 11:03Speaker 1: And obviously, like I will say this, the last two
- 11:09Speaker 1: years or something like that, I can't remember, they they
- 11:12Speaker 1: have allowed a tad more contact, like you're seeing more
- 11:18Speaker 1: like forearms in the back, not like slamming people, but
- 11:21Speaker 1: like being able to put your hands on somebody a
- 11:25Speaker 1: little bit. You still can't like slow down their shoulder
- 11:28Speaker 1: or even like like you used to be able to do.
- 11:30Speaker 1: But so that they have allowed a little bit more contact,
- 11:38Speaker 1: uh recently, right, But to your in it and to
- 11:41Speaker 1: be fair, it always goes up, like the physicality allowing
- 11:46Speaker 1: more the energy of everybody. It always goes up in
- 11:50Speaker 1: the playoffs, but this year in particular, like you said,
- 11:53Speaker 1: it has it seems like it's at an all time
- 11:56Speaker 1: not an all time high, but you know it's it's
- 11:59Speaker 1: much higher. They're getting rid of and or with they're
- 12:03Speaker 1: you know what they're allowing, and so yeah, it is
- 12:05Speaker 1: a little funky. And obviously you know that Detroit Sei
- 12:10Speaker 1: you know game he did. There was contact on that three,
- 12:14Speaker 1: And there doesn't have to be a ton of contact
- 12:18Speaker 1: on a three to get the call. Sometimes just where
- 12:21Speaker 1: you're where you're, where your feet are, so you have
- 12:25Speaker 1: to allow the player to come down. Now, I will
- 12:27Speaker 1: say this, he did move his right leg to the
- 12:31Speaker 1: right more that he probably would have. I will say
- 12:35Speaker 1: that we're used to seeing like a kickout forward, you know,
- 12:40Speaker 1: so he did kind of he did kind of lean
- 12:42Speaker 1: a little bit, but I would say that's a foul usually.
- 12:47Speaker 1: So they did get screwed. They did get screwed there.
- 12:50Speaker 1: But I don't know overall, it's like to me, I
- 12:58Speaker 1: think people were are just starting to get so we've
- 13:02Speaker 1: gone so far the other way that you know, you
- 13:06Speaker 1: have like most like maybe ten to fifteen guys that
- 13:12Speaker 1: can really just soccer. The game up and so and hey,
- 13:17Speaker 1: you know a lot of people talk shit about that,
- 13:20Speaker 1: and people can draw files better than others, or flopping
- 13:23Speaker 1: or whatever. As soon as someone's on your team and
- 13:26Speaker 1: they're doing it, you know, like Luca is a pain
- 13:29Speaker 1: in the ass to watch sometimes, but if he's on
- 13:32Speaker 1: your team, you're gonna like your offensive possessions more likely.
- 13:36Speaker 1: So you know, it's always a give and take with that,
- 13:39Speaker 1: but I do like that they're being more physical. The
- 13:43Speaker 1: Knicks had like a sizeable lead kind of early. It
- 13:46Speaker 1: was like thirty I mean, look at this, it's it's
- 13:48Speaker 1: nine to thirty four, mark thirty one to twenty one,
- 13:52Speaker 1: and and all of a sudden, Pistons come storm back,
- 13:57Speaker 1: you know, well into the third they take the leader's
- 13:59Speaker 1: their first leads since sixty four. They were down by
- 14:02Speaker 1: sixteen at one point, and they had they even pushed
- 14:08Speaker 1: it a little bit more to sixty eight sixty one.
- 14:11Speaker 1: They had another nine to zero run late in that third,
- 14:14Speaker 1: and there was this so points since a one nine
- 14:19Speaker 1: in the second quarter to basically the end of the third,
- 14:23Speaker 1: Detroit went on a thirty nine to sixteen run and
- 14:29Speaker 1: it looked like first of all that place was was
- 14:33Speaker 1: going nuts. But it looked like, wow, you know that
- 14:37Speaker 1: they're gonna win this game. But the Knicks comes thorming back.
- 14:40Speaker 1: And so this this is most of these games I've
- 14:44Speaker 1: been back and forth, and then you have Brunson and
- 14:46Speaker 1: Kat and it's you know, like the piston stud man
- 14:53Speaker 1: he had. They did get a foul, Oh boy, got followed,
- 14:56Speaker 1: no doubt about it, but like Cunningham had two great
- 15:00Speaker 1: looks at it in his in a spot that he
- 15:03Speaker 1: usually hits. I will say that, but you know, Brunson
- 15:10Speaker 1: generally a clutch player. You know Kat has these last
- 15:16Speaker 1: two games, Cat has been crazy down the stretch. And
- 15:19Speaker 1: it's funny. You know, he's a pretty good defender at times,
- 15:24Speaker 1: at times really good winever he's not. He'll never be
- 15:27Speaker 1: in an all defensive team. However, in this series, if
- 15:31Speaker 1: you look late in these games, he's made not just
- 15:34Speaker 1: oppensive plays but defensive plays. And his little back to
- 15:38Speaker 1: back games with that fade over the left shoulder like
- 15:44Speaker 1: he did win in Game three, hit it and then
- 15:46Speaker 1: did a harder one where he was almost behind the
- 15:48Speaker 1: rim and hit it. Hit like two long ass threes.
- 15:54Speaker 1: I still would like to see more bruns Than and
- 15:57Speaker 1: Cat too. Man. I mean the pick and pop should
- 16:01Speaker 1: be like the go to. Now you could also say
- 16:04Speaker 1: they're gonna save it for next series, going it kids Boston,
- 16:07Speaker 1: So I guess there's something to be said there. But yeah, man,
- 16:12Speaker 1: you know, let's not completely rule out the Pistons, so
- 16:16Speaker 1: we won't talk about the decisions they'll have to make.
- 16:20Speaker 1: That'll be the next podcast if they get you know, eliminated,
- 16:25Speaker 1: because they do have some free agents, so it will
- 16:28Speaker 1: be kind of interesting, like Beasley and others. But what
- 16:33Speaker 1: are your thoughts here? Do you think they can push
- 16:36Speaker 1: this thing to game six and maybe even game seven,
- 16:39Speaker 1: because you know, given those first two games in Madison
- 16:43Speaker 1: Square Garden, they were not intimidated whatsoever.
- 16:48Speaker 3: Yeah, and right now this one is staying really close tonight.
- 16:50Speaker 3: It's been within about three to four points either way
- 16:52Speaker 3: for the whole game so far. We worry about mid
- 16:54Speaker 3: second quarters. So I do think this one comes down
- 16:57Speaker 3: to the end. I hope that it goes back to Detroit.
- 17:00Speaker 3: I again, I think if you're there's a highly likely
- 17:03Speaker 3: chance that if Hardaways does get that foul called, he
- 17:06Speaker 3: ain't gonna miss all three free throws, that game is
- 17:07Speaker 3: going ot at worse, So they did get a little screwed,
- 17:10Speaker 3: but that part of sport. Yeah, one point game to
- 17:14Speaker 3: get Founder going. I think they probably win the game
- 17:19Speaker 3: because he's always been a pre good shooter, so that
- 17:21Speaker 3: was a tough pill to swallow. But they didn't come
- 17:24Speaker 3: out flat. They've been again, they've been taking turns taking
- 17:27Speaker 3: the league here in one possession games. So I do
- 17:30Speaker 3: think tonight's stay's closed. I do think I think they
- 17:33Speaker 3: find a way to actually uh six. Yeah, I think
- 17:40Speaker 3: they finally get back in Detroit. So I'm gonna be
- 17:42Speaker 3: a little little crazy here, but I'm gonna say Knicks
- 17:46Speaker 3: winning seven. So I think that they find a way
- 17:48Speaker 3: to win this one. They get a little home cooking, refs,
- 17:51Speaker 3: nice whistles at home, and I do think that they win,
- 17:56Speaker 3: and then the next win a massive square guarden for
- 17:58Speaker 3: a game set, which would be great for Rady's great week.
- 18:00Speaker 3: It's always fun to watch games there. So yeah, I'll
- 18:03Speaker 3: Detroit Detroit, then Nicks wrap it up.
- 18:06Speaker 1: Hey, what about that call where the ball hits the rim,
- 18:09Speaker 1: nobody's touched the damn thing and they they start the
- 18:13Speaker 1: clock and they and the horn goes and it's like dude,
- 18:17Speaker 1: no one touched the ball. What are we doing? And
- 18:21Speaker 1: then they and then and then they got the other
- 18:24Speaker 1: team got the ball. It was like, wow, you could
- 18:27Speaker 1: do that almost every game. And the funny thing is
- 18:30Speaker 1: it was like, I don't know. That was just weird
- 18:32Speaker 1: to me. I couldn't believe. I don't remember seeing that.
- 18:35Speaker 1: But a player has to touch the ball for it
- 18:39Speaker 1: to go in that scenario anyway, not when you inbone
- 18:45Speaker 1: the ball the clock goes, not the shot. But that
- 18:48Speaker 1: was a little funny thing where it's like, how is
- 18:52Speaker 1: the horn going when we don't even know? It was
- 18:54Speaker 1: weird anyway. Kate Huntingham in that game for twenty in
- 19:00Speaker 1: four blocks, Brunson had thirty two to fifteen of them
- 19:05Speaker 1: came in the fourth quarter, eleven assists, four of seven
- 19:09Speaker 1: from three in towns, five of six from three, twenty
- 19:13Speaker 1: seven and nine. Like I said, he's just been the
- 19:15Speaker 1: last two games, he has been just doing his thing
- 19:19Speaker 1: and number far obviously you know him spending all that
- 19:23Speaker 1: time in Minnesota. I'm really happy to see him making
- 19:26Speaker 1: defensive plays and almost actually all three wins he's made
- 19:31Speaker 1: like not just one defensive play in each game. So,
- 19:38Speaker 1: like I said, I'm not not put him on the
- 19:40Speaker 1: All Defensive team, but it's just been nice to see.
- 19:44Speaker 1: It's been really nice to see. Let's go to Denver, Clippers.
- 19:48Speaker 1: I think we both had this puppy deep. I picked Denver.
- 19:52Speaker 1: I believe you picked the Clippers. It's been an entertaining,
- 19:56Speaker 1: entertaining series. On one hand, the buzzer like you're you're
- 20:03Speaker 1: probably not gonna see a buzzer beater like that, obviously,
- 20:08Speaker 1: but there is controversy and a lot of people just
- 20:11Speaker 1: because it's a cool play, you know, are ignoring that
- 20:16Speaker 1: that something weird happened in that. But once again, this
- 20:20Speaker 1: has been a great, great series. I mean Denver was
- 20:25Speaker 1: up eighty five to sixty five with eleventh at the
- 20:29Speaker 1: beginning basically of the fourth, like the third quarter, Jokics
- 20:35Speaker 1: just went off. He almost he was like a point
- 20:38Speaker 1: short of what the Clippers team did. He was just
- 20:41Speaker 1: going off. Then all of a sudden, Kawhi said, hey,
- 20:45Speaker 1: that's right, I'm here too. They cut it to ten
- 20:48Speaker 1: with the eighteen to four run over like a five
- 20:52Speaker 1: thirty one stretched there were still five minutes left up
- 20:56Speaker 1: by ten, Leonard had one point. I can't remember how
- 21:01Speaker 1: much he had in the quarter, but he had fourteen
- 21:03Speaker 1: and six of fifteen, and they flashed it with a
- 21:05Speaker 1: handful of minutes left and he was four of five.
- 21:08Speaker 1: He hit that big three. They used like an overall,
- 21:11Speaker 1: a twenty seven to eleven run to pull it to
- 21:14Speaker 1: ninety six ninety two, and of course, you know they
- 21:20Speaker 1: trailed by as much as twenty two points. It was
- 21:23Speaker 1: their first lead taking that ninety seven and ninety six.
- 21:27Speaker 1: You know, Leonard hits that big three. It's been a
- 21:31Speaker 1: great series, really fun series, crazy, crazy way to end
- 21:37Speaker 1: the game. But you know, there is some more detail
- 21:42Speaker 1: that my co host is gonna tell you about because
- 21:44Speaker 1: we actually talked about this before we hit record on
- 21:47Speaker 1: the podcast.
- 21:50Speaker 3: So with that play, I remember my buddies sent me
- 21:56Speaker 3: the video on Twitter. They zoomed in of like Jokics,
- 21:59Speaker 3: the dude took three steps without dribbling the ball. So
- 22:02Speaker 3: if you watch them kind of dribbles out of the
- 22:04Speaker 3: elbow and then runs back and there's one two three
- 22:09Speaker 3: shot and then you see the Clippers bench freak out
- 22:13Speaker 3: because oh, you didn't get off in time. It's like, dude,
- 22:16Speaker 3: how did you guys miss? Because you always see that
- 22:19Speaker 3: the universal just every player coach does the travel signal?
- 22:23Speaker 3: No one made the travel signal, And I just don't
- 22:26Speaker 3: get how you missed that. So how do you how
- 22:29Speaker 3: do you miss the Pistons foul at the end of
- 22:31Speaker 3: the game, which then they say in the NBA report, well,
- 22:33Speaker 3: we missed it, sorry, And then and then so I
- 22:36Speaker 3: did the.
- 22:36Speaker 1: Pistons game real quick. They didn't even wait until the report.
- 22:41Speaker 1: Remember they they did it in the locker room and yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 22:46Speaker 1: that's even like, man, go after yourself. What do you
- 22:48Speaker 1: mean you just went to the locker room, So why
- 22:50Speaker 1: didn't we get to review it?
- 22:52Speaker 3: Yeah, and two minutes later you're like, oh, dude, we
- 22:54Speaker 3: missed the call, Like, uh okay. And then for this
- 22:57Speaker 3: one again, how do you miss a three step travel?
- 23:03Speaker 3: Like the dude literally like and Jo Kich is a
- 23:05Speaker 3: big dude. Those were big ass steps. He's got big feet,
- 23:07Speaker 3: you know, Like, come on, man, Like, I don't know
- 23:09Speaker 3: how you missed that call. So then I I literally Chris,
- 23:11Speaker 3: I'm going I'm like, hey, there's no way the NBA
- 23:13Speaker 3: missed this travel. Let me go the two minute report.
- 23:16Speaker 3: So I pulled up the two minute report and there
- 23:19Speaker 3: was a report which involved Jokics but it was like
- 23:21Speaker 3: NBA apologizes for Jokics literally bear hugged Harden was it called?
- 23:28Speaker 3: I'm like and then and the reps are like, yeah,
- 23:30Speaker 3: gow you telling Yogis wanted to f how hard we
- 23:32Speaker 3: missed that one. It's like, damn, like you refs, you
- 23:36Speaker 3: guys had a bad weekend, you did.
- 23:38Speaker 1: I just you know, certain players, Jokis is one of them,
- 23:42Speaker 1: but there's a handful of players that just there's just
- 23:46Speaker 1: certain things that they just get away with. I don't know,
- 23:49Speaker 1: and you know, traveling some players, so I don't know,
- 23:53Speaker 1: it's not as bad as it used to be. I
- 23:54Speaker 1: will say that, but like, yeah, it's it's weird.
- 23:59Speaker 3: Well, you know, normally for a traveling a lot of
- 24:01Speaker 3: times like when the guy goes in for a dunk,
- 24:03Speaker 3: get extra step or something. But I mean, this dude
- 24:05Speaker 3: was just like he was running away from content out.
- 24:09Speaker 3: It's a crucial yes, and the rest should be watching
- 24:13Speaker 3: his feet. They're not whatever. So then you could chuck
- 24:16Speaker 3: up this shot which is airball into into to the
- 24:21Speaker 3: to the teammates. Credit. Dude, that's a hell of a
- 24:23Speaker 3: heads up play right there to know how to catch
- 24:26Speaker 3: that ball to slam it down. Know that you literally
- 24:29Speaker 3: have to be super quick because when he when he
- 24:31Speaker 3: ducked the ball, there's points you're one on the clock left.
- 24:33Speaker 3: So that was a great play.
- 24:38Speaker 1: That replay you can see it went in, but damn
- 24:40Speaker 1: it was closed.
- 24:42Speaker 3: So I guess my biggest takeaway Chris forher this series,
- 24:45Speaker 3: as fun as it's been, is the fact that first off,
- 24:48Speaker 3: I think you got to congratulate and give a lot
- 24:50Speaker 3: of props to the kitchen. And I know it's not
- 24:52Speaker 3: sounded crazy because the dude's MVP, but okay, so he
- 24:56Speaker 3: you know, maybe he was the one that owned up
- 24:57Speaker 3: throwing a hissy fit and he wanted to coach out you. Yeah, Malone,
- 25:01Speaker 3: we can't talk to me Moreri's fustiness off. Okay, whatever,
- 25:03Speaker 3: But my initial thought going series is, what, dude, you
- 25:07Speaker 3: just hurd the most tenured the most tenured coach in
- 25:09Speaker 3: the Western Conference the NBA. I think it's gonna put
- 25:13Speaker 3: you in a hard spot because now you have a
- 25:15Speaker 3: guy coming in who you know, I'm sure he's out
- 25:18Speaker 3: on the staff and obviously as as an assistant, you know,
- 25:21Speaker 3: like kind of what Malone does, but it's really hard
- 25:23Speaker 3: to replace head coach like that. That gives a different
- 25:26Speaker 3: mantra that gives different play calls. That's kind of just
- 25:29Speaker 3: a tough spot for a players head coach. Even if
- 25:31Speaker 3: Malone was driving me crazy, he still has been your
- 25:33Speaker 3: head coach for a long time. It creates good tendencies.
- 25:36Speaker 3: So I will give a huge compment to Jokic for
- 25:41Speaker 3: kind of guiding the team and also to the players
- 25:43Speaker 3: for kind of like riding the troops. I really did
- 25:44Speaker 3: think that that coaching decision was going to backfire and
- 25:48Speaker 3: you would not be winning close games like this down
- 25:50Speaker 3: the stretch. But if you watch the highlights of that game, dude,
- 25:54Speaker 3: he's just a machine. Like, whether it's the step back three,
- 25:58Speaker 3: a pass, rebound, like, he's just otherworldly. You now you
- 26:03Speaker 3: see why the guy's up for debate a game, whether
- 26:05Speaker 3: it's him or SGA game for MVP. So, but that
- 26:10Speaker 3: game four a low. I mean, the whole series has
- 26:11Speaker 3: been great, it really has. Uh, but to see the
- 26:15Speaker 3: Clippers who So if you go to YouTube TV because
- 26:18Speaker 3: I just want to refresh myself, I went to the
- 26:20Speaker 3: YouTube TV highlights of that game. They uh they they
- 26:23Speaker 3: were down twenty three points the Clippers, like in the
- 26:27Speaker 3: second half, I'm like, you know, and you know, so
- 26:29Speaker 3: you're like, Okay, well wait what happened? So if you're dead,
- 26:32Speaker 3: for dude, Denver, what the fun I know that NBA
- 26:35Speaker 3: has changed nowadays, but to blow a twenty point lead
- 26:38Speaker 3: almost in a full quarter, that's hard. That normally doesn't
- 26:42Speaker 3: happen come playoff time. They quarter, sure, you know, but Chris,
- 26:48Speaker 3: normally in playoff games, if you're at twenty, that should
- 26:50Speaker 3: be a sign of like, dude, we got this wrapped,
- 26:53Speaker 3: like you know, I know it was that Clippers Arena,
- 26:55Speaker 3: Like yeah, but dude, normally NBA, these are growing ass
- 26:58Speaker 3: man like they're they're they're one of the best players
- 27:00Speaker 3: in the world. You're not gonna blow a twenty point lead.
- 27:03Speaker 3: And they were a tenth of a second way from
- 27:05Speaker 3: going into overtime. So I just I think that this
- 27:11Speaker 3: is a game where we can debate, go back and
- 27:13Speaker 3: forth on who's been playing great. Obviously, it's great to
- 27:16Speaker 3: see not only Jokis play, but it's also good for
- 27:18Speaker 3: the sports to see Kawhi because this dude went healthy. Chris,
- 27:23Speaker 3: if we had to reevaluate, like who's top ten players
- 27:25Speaker 3: in the league, I know that his name has been
- 27:27Speaker 3: off that list for a long time because he's been
- 27:29Speaker 3: hurt a lot. But when he's healthy, he still is
- 27:32Speaker 3: an elite basketball player. I'm not sure if he's top ten,
- 27:34Speaker 3: but he if one hundred percent healthy, probably go he
- 27:37Speaker 3: goes back up to that top. It is crazy the
- 27:40Speaker 3: how often he is bagged up but went healthy. He's
- 27:43Speaker 3: special and we're seeing that out of him. So really
- 27:45Speaker 3: is a great battle between him and the Ookic. But
- 27:47Speaker 3: that game four again a mistravel. I guess it is
- 27:50Speaker 3: what it is. Hey, the Nuggets hold on by the
- 27:54Speaker 3: grace of God to pull to pull that one out.
- 27:59Speaker 3: I I just I think this is just a heavyweight.
- 28:02Speaker 1: Do you think this thing's going seven? It feels like it.
- 28:06Speaker 3: Yeah, I think this goes seven. I think that the
- 28:09Speaker 3: teams defender home turf and then you have it well,
- 28:12Speaker 3: or maybe they flipped it, but I do think this
- 28:14Speaker 3: goes seven. But I'm still gonna take I believe my
- 28:17Speaker 3: original call was Clippers and seven. I'm sick with Clippers
- 28:19Speaker 3: and seven. I do think they fight a way to
- 28:21Speaker 3: pull it out. But hey, if Yo Kich pulls off
- 28:24Speaker 3: this series, man again, a tip of the cap, because
- 28:26Speaker 3: that dude put on a hell of a show. Game
- 28:28Speaker 3: four I'm sure he'll try to do the same thing again,
- 28:31Speaker 3: but I just I still think the Clippers got enough
- 28:35Speaker 3: overall firepower to get it done.
- 28:39Speaker 1: My friend, Yeah, it's uh. He's actually fourth quarter points
- 28:46Speaker 1: in the playoffs. Kawhi's second, Brunson's first, Kahi second, Polo
- 28:52Speaker 1: and Tatum are third and fourth. Yeah, man it it
- 28:58Speaker 1: has been fun and I'm still stick with it. My
- 29:00Speaker 1: Denver and I do think it'll be seven, so that
- 29:04Speaker 1: that that lines up.
- 29:06Speaker 3: Only sorry, one last come quickly. Yes, you know, we
- 29:10Speaker 3: talked about how Denver had playoff or sorry, Denver had
- 29:13Speaker 3: defensive issues coming down in the second half of the year.
- 29:15Speaker 3: Their defensive right like twenty first, I believe like the
- 29:18Speaker 3: last twenty three games of the season, whatever defense they
- 29:23Speaker 3: played in that last four game, in the last three chords,
- 29:26Speaker 3: that last game, if it was impressive because before the
- 29:28Speaker 3: Clippers had that huge run, the Clippers had like sixty around,
- 29:32Speaker 3: like sixty two points almost hear the end of the
- 29:34Speaker 3: third quarter. So whatever defense Denver had figured out was impressive.
- 29:41Speaker 3: Because we're talking, I know that the game has been
- 29:43Speaker 3: more physical, We've had lower scoring games, but holding the
- 29:45Speaker 3: team to low sixties at home in a playoff game
- 29:49Speaker 3: is impressive. So maybe as much I did say, hey,
- 29:52Speaker 3: having a different coach can switch things up in a
- 29:55Speaker 3: negative way, maybe that also has refreshed some of the
- 29:58Speaker 3: team ideas in a positive way as well. I hate
- 30:00Speaker 3: to kind of flip flop, but maybe the new coach
- 30:03Speaker 3: has had some good and some back. But I just
- 30:06Speaker 3: couldn't believe how low scoring of a game the Clippers
- 30:09Speaker 3: had prior to that huge fourth quarter run because there's
- 30:13Speaker 3: so many tons of players on that team, because you
- 30:15Speaker 3: can't you can't have an off night and hold guys
- 30:17Speaker 3: like Harden Kawhi and their role players at home to
- 30:20Speaker 3: low sixties in three quarters. So maybe Denver has offense,
- 30:24Speaker 3: maybe he's a little bit different without the head coach,
- 30:26Speaker 3: but defensive, maybe they found out a new pattern to
- 30:28Speaker 3: help him as a team.
- 30:30Speaker 1: Yeah, and sometimes when you get that little time as well,
- 30:33Speaker 1: you know, it does help just to scout them up,
- 30:37Speaker 1: you know what I meantime that sometimes that does the trick.
- 30:41Speaker 1: But yeah, we'll see if it holds. And you know,
- 30:45Speaker 1: the one thing about the firing is the whole you know,
- 30:50Speaker 1: light of fire in the belly, you know what I mean,
- 30:53Speaker 1: Because when a coach gets fired, obviously even if the
- 30:57Speaker 1: even if the players wanted them out, which that's what
- 30:59Speaker 1: it sounds like, even Jokic. Then you know, you start
- 31:08Speaker 1: to go out, you know, the Pride kicks it, you know,
- 31:10Speaker 1: and you're just like, all right, dude, we gotta we
- 31:12Speaker 1: gotta tighten up. Some of the stuff he was saying
- 31:14Speaker 1: was right, you know. So yeah, yeah, so that that
- 31:18Speaker 1: might be you know, part of it too. But yeah,
- 31:21Speaker 1: it's been a great series and you know, just to
- 31:24Speaker 1: have a chance for this one to go set. Well,
- 31:27Speaker 1: it's gonna go six, we know that, but it might
- 31:28Speaker 1: go seven. You can make a realistic argument that we
- 31:32Speaker 1: just talked about the Knicks and Pistons that that could
- 31:34Speaker 1: go six or seven. The Wolves, Lakers and Golden State
- 31:37Speaker 1: Houston both could go six. I wouldn't be shocked if
- 31:41Speaker 1: it went seven. I wouldn't like it, but I would
- 31:43Speaker 1: be I would I wouldn't be shocked. Let's go to
- 31:48Speaker 1: Golden State, Uh Houston. You know, like you said, we
- 31:53Speaker 1: mentioned uh physicality again. It's not gonna be the first
- 31:57Speaker 1: time we mentioned it. But last night that first half,
- 32:01Speaker 1: I mean it was like WWE Royal run. Like every
- 32:05Speaker 1: other second, It's like, oh wait is this a highlight
- 32:08Speaker 1: from the last one. Are we, well, what's going on?
- 32:11Speaker 1: They're fighting again? And it was it was all over
- 32:13Speaker 1: the place, But we knew it was gonna be physical series.
- 32:19Speaker 1: On one hand, you'd think, oh man, these teams can
- 32:22Speaker 1: really you know, like they have some firepower, but they
- 32:26Speaker 1: also can defend. And it's been pretty hard to know.
- 32:30Speaker 1: It's really fun season or series to watch. You know,
- 32:35Speaker 1: Houston was doing pretty good there, you know, sometime in
- 32:39Speaker 1: the third and there was a ten o run to
- 32:43Speaker 1: get the lead sixty to fifty seven with the eight
- 32:45Speaker 1: to forty four left in the in the the third
- 32:49Speaker 1: for Golden State, and it just kept going. They increased
- 32:55Speaker 1: it to sixty eight to fifty eight seven twenty one.
- 32:58Speaker 1: Mark I literally screenshot this because it was eighteen to
- 33:02Speaker 1: three in favor of Golden State in that third quarter.
- 33:06Speaker 1: But what's so crazy about this stuff? We're looking at
- 33:09Speaker 1: the seven to twenty one mark of the third, right
- 33:12Speaker 1: screenshot five point fifty nine of the third, it's sixty
- 33:16Speaker 1: eight to sixty five. And then Houston, you know, has
- 33:21Speaker 1: another run twelve to four somewhere in there to pull
- 33:24Speaker 1: it to two, and ultimately later in the fourth eight
- 33:28Speaker 1: thirty mark, they use a ten three runover about two
- 33:31Speaker 1: and a half minutes, they took the freaking lead and
- 33:34Speaker 1: they had forced At the time mid fourth they had
- 33:38Speaker 1: forced ten turnovers, which isn't a lot, but they scored
- 33:42Speaker 1: twenty points off him and Seng Goon started to really
- 33:46Speaker 1: shine late in that game though, seven zero runover at
- 33:50Speaker 1: two minute mark, one oh four to one oh one,
- 33:53Speaker 1: Golden States on top Bam Van Fleet ties the game. Uh,
- 33:58Speaker 1: he was like eight of a eleven or something at
- 34:01Speaker 1: that point. Curry was doing the thing, but Jimmy Butler
- 34:06Speaker 1: very quiet in the first half, one of three for
- 34:09Speaker 1: four points. But he started doing his thing and he
- 34:13Speaker 1: ended up with like twenty five points. He was ten
- 34:17Speaker 1: to ten from the line. What's his toes that Brandon
- 34:24Speaker 1: pot As, what's that his name? As he went off
- 34:29Speaker 1: to They combined for fifty three points. We know Butler's
- 34:34Speaker 1: banged up. He did get that extra day off though,
- 34:37Speaker 1: and they're still up three to one. But very efficient
- 34:42Speaker 1: game from Butler getting a lot from the line. Like
- 34:46Speaker 1: I said, Steph's gonna do his thing. Defense is there
- 34:49Speaker 1: just a grind it out game and another fun game.
- 34:52Speaker 1: But they're up three to one in a series that
- 34:54Speaker 1: could be two to two very easily.
- 34:58Speaker 3: Yeah, this one man, as I as I've been ranting
- 35:02Speaker 3: to you, I I got spoiled man watching that team
- 35:05Speaker 3: that won those rings with all the players they had
- 35:07Speaker 3: that that was that. I was lucky to watch that.
- 35:10Speaker 3: But this is a new team. I still love my squad,
- 35:13Speaker 3: just a different team. I did reads yet, No, you can't.
- 35:20Speaker 3: It's it's not fair. It's not fair. So I first
- 35:25Speaker 3: of all that you know I did, I didn't watch
- 35:27Speaker 3: much Houston Rockets games this year. Dude, that Saint Good's
- 35:31Speaker 3: a fucking ball player. In the third quarter, that guy said,
- 35:35Speaker 3: none of you Everston Garden because Draymond's dumbass was in
- 35:38Speaker 3: foul trouble for doing the ship that he does. But
- 35:42Speaker 3: with him on the bench, dude, say Good said, dude,
- 35:45Speaker 3: none of you all can guard my ass. I'm gonna
- 35:47Speaker 3: go to the basket. Go to the basket, Go to
- 35:48Speaker 3: the basket. Now, basically, he's not a great free throw shooter,
- 35:51Speaker 3: because if he was, we probably lost the game.
- 35:53Speaker 1: He lost the game. That's a good call. He did
- 35:56Speaker 1: not shoot the free throw as well. Yeah, them as
- 36:00Speaker 1: a team was they shot the ball very poorly.
- 36:05Speaker 3: H So overall. You know, I honestly felt like we're
- 36:09Speaker 3: gonna lose that game because every time that we did
- 36:12Speaker 3: a little bit of a run, they answered that. And Curry.
- 36:17Speaker 3: Curry was pretty mild mannered. He he only hit one
- 36:20Speaker 3: three in the first half. He didn't do that well.
- 36:22Speaker 3: He he had a couple of dagger threes, but not
- 36:25Speaker 3: like we're used to seeing him, not like he played
- 36:27Speaker 3: in Game three.
- 36:28Speaker 1: So right to.
- 36:30Speaker 3: Give Houston credit. They have a great game plan to
- 36:32Speaker 3: the celetic cury, which they've done effectively. That Amon Thompson,
- 36:35Speaker 3: all the others, and that put Imski, who in the
- 36:39Speaker 3: first half drove me crazy, and love Buddy Heel who
- 36:41Speaker 3: could They both cat shown the shooting the ball a
- 36:43Speaker 3: little bit. But in the second half, the part that
- 36:47Speaker 3: killed me was that put Emsky. And I know I'm
- 36:50Speaker 3: nippicking here, but he he had like two or three
- 36:52Speaker 3: plays where he left van Fleet open to try to
- 36:56Speaker 3: go double team sangun and dude, he can't do that,
- 37:00Speaker 3: Like that's the good guy's not going to jack of three.
- 37:03Speaker 3: But when you left van Fleet, he was Steph Curry.
- 37:06Speaker 3: Last night, that dude, I believe, hit six or seven
- 37:08Speaker 3: threes and they didn't touch the f and rim to
- 37:11Speaker 3: save their life. That dude was okay, okay, he was
- 37:16Speaker 3: locked every time when it wasn't always the pods.
- 37:21Speaker 1: But he finished eight of twelve from three.
- 37:24Speaker 3: That dude alone, Like he hit dagger three for the
- 37:27Speaker 3: dagger three, he said, good played his butt off. Draymond
- 37:30Speaker 3: was on the bench for almost the whole three quarters,
- 37:32Speaker 3: so it was definitely kind of a gritty Golden State win.
- 37:36Speaker 3: But I guess to kind of wrap up my main
- 37:39Speaker 3: point here was the fact that I read an article
- 37:40Speaker 3: in the Athletic and it was about Jimmy Butler who
- 37:43Speaker 3: did land on his butt, had a pelvis injury, and
- 37:46Speaker 3: he sucked it up and was a tough SLB like
- 37:48Speaker 3: he usually is. He's like, yeah, dude, you know, Dylan
- 37:51Speaker 3: Brooks kind of pissed me off, and that gave me
- 37:53Speaker 3: a little bit of energy. So you know, that's one
- 37:55Speaker 3: of those things where dude, Jimmy Butler's and alpha. That
- 37:58Speaker 3: dude's a dog. He plays hard. I know he's definitely
- 38:00Speaker 3: burned his bridges at places where he's played at in
- 38:03Speaker 3: times past because he's got a personality for sure. Yeah,
- 38:07Speaker 3: But but when when he's on the court, for your team,
- 38:09Speaker 3: and he's in good spirits. That dude's he's a gamer.
- 38:12Speaker 1: So that goes back to what we're talking about. If
- 38:14Speaker 1: he's on your squad, you all of a sudden, like,
- 38:16Speaker 1: you know what, Jimmy's I.
- 38:17Speaker 3: Like, Jimmy, Yeah yeah, he's yeah, yeah.
- 38:20Speaker 1: Yeah, so's competitive, you know. Uh Dylan.
- 38:26Speaker 3: Same here and Dylan Brooks was chirping him and uh,
- 38:30Speaker 3: he's like that gave me a little extra blood. You know,
- 38:32Speaker 3: I got the blood fellowed a little bit, so Dylan.
- 38:35Speaker 3: But that's how Dylan Brooks is. But overall, I will
- 38:39Speaker 3: say I've been griping you because it's just it's been
- 38:43Speaker 3: a tough offensive series to watch. Either of these teams
- 38:45Speaker 3: are like super gifted offensively, but stat raiding again, they
- 38:51Speaker 3: for they they're the fourteenth and sixteenth the best offenses
- 38:55Speaker 3: in the playoffs this year.
- 38:56Speaker 1: So there's only sixteen teams in the in the thing.
- 39:00Speaker 3: Yes, it went pretty for for the first round stats,
- 39:02Speaker 3: So it's been a it's been a grind, but hey,
- 39:07Speaker 3: I it would surprise me to see Houston uh drag
- 39:11Speaker 3: this thing back to Golden State for one more. I
- 39:13Speaker 3: do think they've they've they've so yeah, they've Guardian Curry
- 39:20Speaker 3: about as good as you humanly can that he he has,
- 39:23Speaker 3: he'll he'll do some special once in a while because
- 39:25Speaker 3: he especially is one of the best of all time.
- 39:27Speaker 3: But he's really yeah, and I think, you know, speed
- 39:32Speaker 3: up like we were. If we're we're to buy stock
- 39:35Speaker 3: on a team, we'd buy stock in Detroit. I buy
- 39:37Speaker 3: more stock in Houston, man. That man, these guys are
- 39:41Speaker 3: very just long athletic that say good. I don't know
- 39:44Speaker 3: his age, by these relatively pretty young, like you've got
- 39:47Speaker 3: some pieces, man, And that dude's a That dude's a
- 39:50Speaker 3: force like not many bigs have the I don't know
- 39:53Speaker 3: that that dude's a big that obviously, yeah, he's special.
- 39:56Speaker 3: So I'm happy they got the win. H And again,
- 40:01Speaker 3: hey Butler, you got maybe that any day off will help.
- 40:04Speaker 3: He even said he's like, dude, I'm not one hundred percent.
- 40:08Speaker 3: And even Kurve was like, if this was a regular season,
- 40:11Speaker 3: he probably be on for one or two weeks. So
- 40:13Speaker 3: he's kind of got it out for you man. I
- 40:17Speaker 3: really I think this does come back for six I do.
- 40:19Speaker 3: I think that Houston Golden Say have gone back and
- 40:22Speaker 3: forth after highs. They have their lows. You are trying
- 40:25Speaker 3: to see who Golden Stay can step up when Curry's
- 40:28Speaker 3: sitting on the bench or when Butler's a little rested
- 40:30Speaker 3: and sore, you know, and Houston offensively they are a
- 40:34Speaker 3: little bit challenged, man, they make up for it defensively.
- 40:37Speaker 3: You're not getting it easy buckets. We haven't mentioned Steven Adams,
- 40:40Speaker 3: who's the best NBA offensive rebounder of the year, and
- 40:43Speaker 3: that dude's a tough son of a bitch, so you're
- 40:45Speaker 3: not gonna push him around either. So I don't think
- 40:48Speaker 3: Houston gets done this year, Chris. But that's not a
- 40:51Speaker 3: team might want to play as they developed, because that's
- 40:54Speaker 3: that's just a really tough, physical team. Maybe got to
- 40:56Speaker 3: improved a little bit offensively, but defensively, man, dude, that
- 40:59Speaker 3: is the grind to score. And I know I've been
- 41:01Speaker 3: griping you because Golden State can't score. Part of it
- 41:04Speaker 3: is simply the fact that Houston plays some day have
- 41:06Speaker 3: good defense and they don't really allow easy buckets.
- 41:09Speaker 1: Was it Butler? Was it Green that boxed them out
- 41:13Speaker 1: at the end.
- 41:14Speaker 3: Or Butler didn't Butler got the big rebound of the
- 41:18Speaker 3: last shot the game with what Green slowdown said good
- 41:21Speaker 3: to four shot, Well it comes out time out. That
- 41:25Speaker 3: article literally said Jamie said, hey, you you make him
- 41:29Speaker 3: put up a brick and I'll get the rebounds. That's
- 41:31Speaker 3: what happened for that place.
- 41:32Speaker 1: So yeah, So Jimmy twenty seven points on twelve shots
- 41:39Speaker 1: on a bruises back. He was twelve of twelve, six assists,
- 41:43Speaker 1: no turnovers. Obviously mister Podzy had six threes that helped,
- 41:49Speaker 1: but they were twenty of twenty two from the from
- 41:52Speaker 1: the line compared to nineteen of thirty one what they
- 42:00Speaker 1: were from. So I mean, it's not even a if.
- 42:04Speaker 1: Maybe Sengun missed his stuff a little late, you know,
- 42:08Speaker 1: because he was seven to ten, which it felt like
- 42:12Speaker 1: it was worse, but I think it was the timing
- 42:14Speaker 1: of when it happened. But that that was crazy. Now,
- 42:18Speaker 1: the one thing I'll say is Jalen Green. Okay, he
- 42:25Speaker 1: had that big game that they had to win. He
- 42:28Speaker 1: had eight three six assists, thirty eight points, but since
- 42:32Speaker 1: then nine point six boards, five assists, eight points last
- 42:37Speaker 1: night one assist and actually his last seven games coming
- 42:41Speaker 1: into the playoffs. And I will say this, I don't
- 42:47Speaker 1: know how many games minutes he played in these games
- 42:49Speaker 1: because they had it locked, you know, so I think
- 42:52Speaker 1: this is one of those Twitter stats. But it's been five, seven, two,
- 42:57Speaker 1: seven thirty eight, nine and eight. So even if you
- 43:00Speaker 1: just focus on seven thirty eight, nine and eight so
- 43:04Speaker 1: far Jalen Green, you know, we'll see where he ends
- 43:08Speaker 1: up and how good he is. That would be. I
- 43:11Speaker 1: think they have more young core players Houston. I agree
- 43:17Speaker 1: with you that, but I will say that Kay Cunningham
- 43:22Speaker 1: can make the world go around, you know what I mean.
- 43:24Speaker 1: He can really put your just your offense, defense, he
- 43:29Speaker 1: can just he just makes people around him so much better.
- 43:34Speaker 1: So I'm not gonna say it's a push because of
- 43:38Speaker 1: the talent. You're right, and they've been playing together now
- 43:40Speaker 1: for a little bit and here they are the second seed.
- 43:43Speaker 1: But he's got to get his shit together.
- 43:46Speaker 5: Let's just say that. Let's try to put it nicely
- 43:51Speaker 5: because sometimes he's he's one of those guys that he
- 43:56Speaker 5: gets up for certain things, and you think once you're
- 43:58Speaker 5: in the playoffs, you get up for anything.
- 44:00Speaker 1: But yeah, that's one thing to keep an eye on.
- 44:04Speaker 1: Speaking to keep an eye on the Minnesota Timberwolves and
- 44:08Speaker 1: the Los Angeles Lakers has been a fun series as well.
- 44:14Speaker 1: We just really had that one blowout. Well, Game one
- 44:20Speaker 1: and Game two were basically blowouts. Yeah, the Timberwolves got
- 44:24Speaker 1: it down to like I think it would have been
- 44:28Speaker 1: if hit a three, it would have been a six
- 44:30Speaker 1: point game deep in the fourth. But it was pretty
- 44:35Speaker 1: much they handled us. Speaking as a Timberwolves fan, but
- 44:39Speaker 1: game three, Game four, you know, the big wonder was okay, yeah,
- 44:45Speaker 1: one game one? Are you what are you going to
- 44:48Speaker 1: do at home? Because they've had an issue with this
- 44:51Speaker 1: core dating back to that Memphis series where they lost
- 44:55Speaker 1: two out of three at home. Obviously, we know the
- 44:59Speaker 1: Denver series. Last year, in the Dallas series, I mean,
- 45:04Speaker 1: they had to win three out of four road games
- 45:06Speaker 1: just to go to the conference final, which you can't
- 45:09Speaker 1: rely on. So I gotta admit it was very refreshing
- 45:13Speaker 1: for them to really say, hey, we gotta worry about
- 45:17Speaker 1: this shit. We gotta because the place is jumping. I
- 45:21Speaker 1: mean it is loud as hell, but yeah, I don't
- 45:25Speaker 1: know what it was, but they were kind of letting
- 45:26Speaker 1: their guard down or whatever it was. But they played
- 45:30Speaker 1: really well. They out rebounded the defense, they've limited the turnovers,
- 45:37Speaker 1: and ant In Randall has made the right they haven't
- 45:42Speaker 1: held the ball overly much. They haven't gone io, they
- 45:46Speaker 1: haven't you know, dragged it down beyond that first game,
- 45:51Speaker 1: which you still played pretty well. You just had too
- 45:53Speaker 1: many turnovers randall. Other than that, it's been really great.
- 45:57Speaker 1: So the playmaking has been phenomenal. In these last two games.
- 46:02Speaker 1: It came down. You know, they were the worst clutch
- 46:04Speaker 1: team in the league, the Timberwolves, they had the most
- 46:06Speaker 1: of them, they had the worst record in it. And
- 46:11Speaker 1: you know that little thirteen to one run to put
- 46:13Speaker 1: it away. And then obviously, you know, speaking of back
- 46:18Speaker 1: and forth, crazy stuff down the stretch, back and forth
- 46:22Speaker 1: when you know there's like a nine point lead and
- 46:25Speaker 1: then Lebron hits three straight threes, and I mean Lebron
- 46:30Speaker 1: and the defense lately you can tell he had five
- 46:33Speaker 1: days off and then two days off before because I mean,
- 46:39Speaker 1: this dude on defense even has just been ridiculous at
- 46:44Speaker 1: forty obviously, right, you can't do that all season, you
- 46:47Speaker 1: can't do it all game. But you know, role players matter,
- 46:53Speaker 1: and if you look at the top two, Okay, cool
- 46:57Speaker 1: going in the series. We'll give you Luca and Lebron,
- 47:00Speaker 1: but Reeves's, Reeves and others are way further down that
- 47:06Speaker 1: list before you even mentioned a laker. And the defense
- 47:12Speaker 1: has been just solid. Randall's been solid on Lebron, Lebron
- 47:16Speaker 1: and Luca and and the key thing is they finally
- 47:20Speaker 1: went after Luca this year. Last year they barely did it.
- 47:26Speaker 1: Ant's going at him, Randall's going at him. Anybody that's
- 47:29Speaker 1: on him. He's like, go Adam and McDaniels too, because
- 47:32Speaker 1: they hit him on McDaniel's McDaniel's last year and or Conley,
- 47:37Speaker 1: and it's like you got to make him pay.
- 47:40Speaker 6: And you know, now McDaniels kind of has confidence in
- 47:44Speaker 6: what he's doing offensively instead of just trying to be
- 47:50Speaker 6: a good three point shooter and be a three and d.
- 47:54Speaker 1: It's it's been great, man. The way they've closed these
- 47:57Speaker 1: games have been you know, at home in the clutch,
- 48:02Speaker 1: it's been phenomenal. It just shows you, though, that if
- 48:07Speaker 1: you look at the assist, that will break down. If
- 48:09Speaker 1: you look at the assist from Luca, it's you know,
- 48:13Speaker 1: he's almost got that Jokic thing, Marshall, where he's gonna
- 48:17Speaker 1: get his thirty something, maybe forty something, but you don't
- 48:20Speaker 1: want him to have like twenty six, twenty eight, and
- 48:23Speaker 1: then fourteen assists, and that has been crucial, and without
- 48:28Speaker 1: that lob threat that he had multiple lob threats on
- 48:31Speaker 1: that damn Dallas team, and then obviously were a deeper,
- 48:35Speaker 1: stronger defensive team. You know, We've seen it time and
- 48:39Speaker 1: time again, and even when a team where you put
- 48:42Speaker 1: some stars together have a full year in the playoffs,
- 48:45Speaker 1: they still got to figure it out. We've seen that
- 48:47Speaker 1: plenty of times and they're still in the process of
- 48:53Speaker 1: figuring it out. So it's been a breath of fresh air.
- 48:55Speaker 1: I'm kind of long winded, as you can tell. I'm
- 48:57Speaker 1: very excited. Marshall.
- 49:01Speaker 3: Okay, so I do have a question. I've asked a
- 49:03Speaker 3: couple of my buddies this. This one just bothered me.
- 49:05Speaker 3: Someone asks you for just fear analysis.
- 49:07Speaker 1: It wouldn't be a podcast if you didn't spring a
- 49:09Speaker 1: question on me.
- 49:11Speaker 3: All right, Well, this isn't basketball talk here, So now
- 49:14Speaker 3: this is my perspective. And I'm obviously not Chris Finch.
- 49:17Speaker 3: I'm not an NBA coach. I'm just like girls basketbaigh
- 49:20Speaker 3: school coach. But this has been driving me crazy. So
- 49:23Speaker 3: I've realized one of the things I like to do
- 49:24Speaker 3: this year is when Luca has the ball. The Wolves
- 49:28Speaker 3: have enjoyed kind of trying to trap him at half
- 49:30Speaker 3: court but being the pastor, or double teamed him at
- 49:34Speaker 3: half court, but being the pastor that he is, sometimes
- 49:37Speaker 3: that does lead to a turn over. I agree, but
- 49:40Speaker 3: it's also led to a lot of a lot of
- 49:42Speaker 3: wide open threes for like Reeves or Hatchamura. To me,
- 49:47Speaker 3: I think the Wolves are better off playing him one
- 49:49Speaker 3: on one because I again this was I didn't keep
- 49:53Speaker 3: complete stats, but I saw there was like five or
- 49:56Speaker 3: six times where we're like, you try to double Luca
- 49:58Speaker 3: and it's swing swinging that them three and I just
- 50:01Speaker 3: don't quite get the strategy. So I'm sure they're probably
- 50:03Speaker 3: gonna keep doing it. But does does that bother you?
- 50:06Speaker 3: Because to me, why not let a guy like Jada
- 50:09Speaker 3: McDaniels or nas or whoever guard Luca.
- 50:13Speaker 1: It's not gonna be not taking him to the rack yesterday?
- 50:18Speaker 1: What's a higher percentage at the rack layup or a
- 50:21Speaker 1: dunk or a corner three, what's a higher percentage.
- 50:25Speaker 3: I'd rather I'd rather let Luca go one on one
- 50:28Speaker 3: that just see they give up the open threes.
- 50:31Speaker 1: I just think you answer my question, what's the higher
- 50:35Speaker 1: percentage I bring him or ally oop at the rim
- 50:41Speaker 1: or a corner three. Corner three is the as we
- 50:44Speaker 1: know on average. Anyway, I don't know their averages, but
- 50:47Speaker 1: on average it is the most accurate three.
- 50:51Speaker 3: I saw. Obviously, a dunk is going to be a
- 50:55Speaker 3: higher percentage shot than a three, for sure, but or
- 50:58Speaker 3: a layup or getting followed. Yeah, yeah, you know we
- 51:03Speaker 3: have gone.
- 51:06Speaker 1: Mc daniels and Randall have gone one on one with
- 51:08Speaker 1: them plenty. Yeah, but you know, I don't know. It's
- 51:14Speaker 1: it's it's it's it's kind of a catch twenty two.
- 51:18Speaker 1: But this is what I do know. Okay, this is
- 51:21Speaker 1: what I do know. Game one he had five turnovers.
- 51:24Speaker 1: He had eight or he had one assists in five turnovers.
- 51:30Speaker 1: Game two he had nine assists, is his high in
- 51:35Speaker 1: these lot, you know, in the four games. But he
- 51:37Speaker 1: had four turnovers still. Game three, eight assists but five turnovers.
- 51:43Speaker 1: Game four to assist four turnovers. So whatever we're doing
- 51:51Speaker 1: is working pretty fucking good. But it's also they don't
- 51:55Speaker 1: have a big And it's funny because if people are
- 52:00Speaker 1: gonna be like, oh, you don't know what you're talking about.
- 52:02Speaker 1: If he played with Rudy Oh my god, Like, good luck, dude,
- 52:08Speaker 1: good luck with that, because he's so much more effective
- 52:12Speaker 1: when he has the lob effect, you know, it's so
- 52:16Speaker 1: much more effective. And here's the scoop. He only has
- 52:19Speaker 1: one assist in this series in the fourth quarter. He's
- 52:24Speaker 1: so him and aunt in the fourth quarter, Luca is
- 52:28Speaker 1: five of seventeen with one assist. Ant is ten of
- 52:33Speaker 1: twenty three, so he's double them up. He's obviously shot
- 52:36Speaker 1: more too, with seven assists in the fourth quarter. You
- 52:40Speaker 1: could have flipped it last year, you know. So what
- 52:43Speaker 1: this is telling us is you need a full team, right,
- 52:47Speaker 1: You need the right fit next to you. Doesn't mean
- 52:50Speaker 1: you have to have the dream team right, as we know,
- 52:53Speaker 1: but you do need to have the pieces that fit.
- 52:57Speaker 1: And as we know, they tried to get a in protector.
- 53:00Speaker 1: It just didn't go through the trade. So it's a
- 53:04Speaker 1: mixed bag. It's a mixed bag. You know. Obviously, you
- 53:09Speaker 1: know the Rudy Iso stuff if you look at the analytics, dude,
- 53:13Speaker 1: So game one, in game two that Luca isoed Rudy
- 53:17Speaker 1: seventeen times and got thirteen points out of it. So
- 53:21Speaker 1: game three, in game four, they haven't even tried it. Overall,
- 53:25Speaker 1: he's five fourteen from the field, one of seventeen from
- 53:30Speaker 1: three when Rudy is the primary defender. I keep telling people,
- 53:36Speaker 1: Rudy doesn't get played off the court defensively. He does. However,
- 53:40Speaker 1: if you don't have four shooters on the court, he does.
- 53:43Speaker 1: Can't He can, especially in this type of series, get
- 53:47Speaker 1: played off offensively. People forget you saw had Mitchell is
- 53:52Speaker 1: a better pick and roll guy than an He just is,
- 53:58Speaker 1: and they had better playmakers, and they had they had
- 54:02Speaker 1: usually four shooters in him. And remember they had high
- 54:06Speaker 1: powered offenses there, you.
- 54:08Speaker 3: Know they shot.
- 54:12Speaker 1: Yep. The thing was is they didn't have the defenders
- 54:15Speaker 1: we have. So yeah, if any big man KG and
- 54:19Speaker 1: well maybe not KG because he's quick footed, but most
- 54:22Speaker 1: big man, if you got to run out to the
- 54:24Speaker 1: three and cover for your teammate, it's not gonna look good.
- 54:28Speaker 1: You know, it's not gonna look good.
- 54:30Speaker 3: So a lot of that was.
- 54:31Speaker 1: Recovering for for mistakes made in front of him and
- 54:36Speaker 1: him trying to make up for it. This whole one
- 54:38Speaker 1: on one thing. If you look at a lot of
- 54:40Speaker 1: these analytic guys, go look at the analytics when when
- 54:45Speaker 1: Rudy's on the court, and the ice though. The it's
- 54:48Speaker 1: it's just not as effective as people make it out
- 54:52Speaker 1: to be. It's just not like literally, analytics tell you
- 54:55Speaker 1: it's not. So I test. It's fun, I mean, and
- 55:00Speaker 1: the crowd loves it. The crowd's like, oh, here we go,
- 55:02Speaker 1: We're gonna cook them. But then it's really not. And
- 55:06Speaker 1: here's another one. Rudy Gobert has the best defensive field
- 55:10Speaker 1: goal field goal defensive field goal out of anybody in
- 55:15Speaker 1: the playoffs this year. When the Rudy is the primary
- 55:18Speaker 1: defender is shooting, the shooters shooting thirty five percent. That's
- 55:23Speaker 1: thirteen point seven percent lower than the expected field goal.
- 55:27Speaker 1: Also number one in the NBA that was actually during
- 55:30Speaker 1: the year. So you know, I hear what you're saying,
- 55:34Speaker 1: but in this scenario, I think we're doing a pretty
- 55:36Speaker 1: damn good job at.
- 55:37Speaker 3: Him, you know, Okay, well aa obviously to the three
- 55:41Speaker 3: to one series lead shows it. But I just it's
- 55:45Speaker 3: just paidful because I am sure for the Wolves with
- 55:47Speaker 3: you to just see that same swing and they know
- 55:50Speaker 3: all is open threes and to give Reeves an achimurkred,
- 55:52Speaker 3: there're some good three point shooters. But to flip this
- 55:55Speaker 3: to the Wolves for a positive, I think they closed
- 55:58Speaker 3: this series out. It might be Game six, but that's
- 56:02Speaker 3: because now obviously And does not have the stats yet
- 56:06Speaker 3: to back up with Lebron Luca. But to me another
- 56:10Speaker 3: defensive massive issues in fact that when this tea's want
- 56:12Speaker 3: to take over, he's been able to take over in
- 56:14Speaker 3: the fourth quarters, and the Lakers really do not have
- 56:16Speaker 3: a player that can slow him down. Obviously, sometimes he
- 56:19Speaker 3: even gets a little three point happy, but And has
- 56:22Speaker 3: literally just like put the team on his back and
- 56:27Speaker 3: had a really overall good series. And I think that
- 56:30Speaker 3: is his cold bloodedness of wanting to finish a game.
- 56:35Speaker 3: I think he's gonna win it for them in six.
- 56:38Speaker 3: I think it's gonna be really hard to slow down
- 56:41Speaker 3: Luca and Lebron in Game five at home. But hey,
- 56:44Speaker 3: the Wolves have played great defense and the other big factor.
- 56:47Speaker 3: And I think the NBA gave him a little generous
- 56:50Speaker 3: generossity with these days off in the games. But after
- 56:53Speaker 3: between five and six and six and seven there was
- 56:55Speaker 3: like one day off each JJ ready to not make
- 56:58Speaker 3: a single sub in the second half of Game four,
- 57:02Speaker 3: the Lakers, whoever they came out of halftime with, never
- 57:05Speaker 3: left the court. That shows he doesn't trust his bench,
- 57:09Speaker 3: and they would have the depth of Timberwolves due so
- 57:13Speaker 3: for a game five to game six and six to seven,
- 57:15Speaker 3: if it goes seven, those guys gonna get a little tired,
- 57:17Speaker 3: right Lebron.
- 57:18Speaker 1: So they have a two day break from that last game.
- 57:22Speaker 3: I thought I thought it was a one day break
- 57:23Speaker 3: between five and six and six and seven. I might
- 57:26Speaker 3: I might have missed some.
- 57:27Speaker 1: No, I'm saying that they had to after that game
- 57:30Speaker 1: four on Sunday afternoon.
- 57:32Speaker 3: Yeah, he did that.
- 57:33Speaker 1: To your point, they have two days off.
- 57:36Speaker 3: True, you're you're yeah, you're right, You're right.
- 57:38Speaker 1: That played into his decision. Now, the other thing that
- 57:41Speaker 1: people haven't been talking about. Ant did the same thing.
- 57:45Speaker 1: Not the whole lineup, of course, but Ant and Randall
- 57:49Speaker 1: played everything but like forty six seconds. So he played
- 57:53Speaker 1: twenty a little over twenty three minutes and the finished
- 57:56Speaker 1: it too. But for the starting lineup, to your point, yeah,
- 58:00Speaker 1: that just shows you, and you know they I think
- 58:04Speaker 1: it was smart for a while, but when they had
- 58:07Speaker 1: that ten point lead, Marshall, that's when they should have
- 58:12Speaker 1: put in somebody for a couple of minutes because you
- 58:15Speaker 1: can really tell they were gassing. Now Yeah, this last game,
- 58:19Speaker 1: I think Ant put it on his back. But to say,
- 58:23Speaker 1: if you look at the other games, we've had a
- 58:26Speaker 1: very spread team. I mean McDaniel's had a thirty point
- 58:31Speaker 1: game in a twenty eight point game, Randall's averaging twenty
- 58:35Speaker 1: two points, McDaniel's ever twenty points N's average in fourteen.
- 58:39Speaker 1: I don't think it's just just Ant. Ant's just doing
- 58:43Speaker 1: stuff that he Ant's playmaking. He's actually making the right
- 58:48Speaker 1: play rather than trying to play hero ball. That's the
- 58:52Speaker 1: biggest difference there. This last game he went to line
- 58:56Speaker 1: seventeen times when he didn't even make a trip to
- 58:59Speaker 1: the line in game three, which was crazy. So I
- 59:03Speaker 1: wouldn't just say aunt wildam and that's it, because if
- 59:07Speaker 1: we don't have that thirty from Jaydon in game three,
- 59:10Speaker 1: you know, like we've gotten like it goes to show
- 59:13Speaker 1: you we have the role players around him that fit
- 59:17Speaker 1: pretty well.
- 59:19Speaker 3: Yeah, I just and again, I just think this is
- 59:22Speaker 3: part of the media. But he I think he's gonna
- 59:24Speaker 3: be the guy who helps you win that closeout game. No,
- 59:26Speaker 3: but no, it's a very Again, it goes show they're
- 59:28Speaker 3: a deeper team, they have more depth, they have more talent,
- 59:32Speaker 3: they have a bench like Blakers clearly show they don't.
- 59:34Speaker 3: Even if you knew, even if J. J Rick knew, Hey,
- 59:37Speaker 3: I get two days off. It is really weird for
- 59:40Speaker 3: a coach not to bring a guy off the bench
- 59:42Speaker 3: shade at all, Like you gotta let yeah.
- 59:44Speaker 1: Like you know, they say it's never happened before, which
- 59:48Speaker 1: I've seen it in college, but I don't believe I've
- 59:51Speaker 1: I've seen it in the pros. Did you see that
- 59:54Speaker 1: stat though, in the fourth quarter so far with Naas, No,
- 59:59Speaker 1: he's not even of ten from the field in the
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: fourth quarter. Now it's it's a small sample size, but
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: he's six or six from three.
- 1:00:09Speaker 3: Uh.
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: I mean, I just think everyone is. It's it's just
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: been amazing, Like if you look at the fourth quarter, man,
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: they have look at this. So game one twenty three
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: to seventeen, LA shot twenty eight percent from the field,
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: Game two twenty to thirteen, twenty six percent from the field.
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: Game three outscored thirty to twenty. LA shoots thirty five
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: percent from the field. Game four thirty two to nineteen,
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: in the fourth quarter shooting twenty eight percent. I mean,
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: this is when they've had issues, you know, But right now.
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: They're they're doing their thing. Man, they're basically making up
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: for a lot of like victories during the year that
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: we thought we should have had.
- 1:00:56Speaker 3: Well, and I guess, just to wrap this one up,
- 1:00:58Speaker 3: on my take, it's I think winning six. I do
- 1:01:01Speaker 3: think there's gonna be too much Lebron Luca craziness in
- 1:01:04Speaker 3: game five. But I do think the Wolves win at
- 1:01:06Speaker 3: home and target Center in game six and they advance.
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree with that. I don't want to see
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: Game seven, sure, but I agree. I think it. I
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: definitely think that because you know, to be fair, these
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: last two games were very tight, you know, yeah, yeah,
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: scoring Game three looks weird because it was a thirteen
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: to one run, but.
- 1:01:28Speaker 3: It was tight.
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: So and you know they had to I think they're
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: down by eleven tier point. That was the second biggest
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: comeback we ever had in the playoffs. Now we don't
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: have a lot of playoffs, you know, but sure still
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: eleven points. Like usually to your point when it comes
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: to the others, you're talking about that Dever series, Like, man,
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: that's like, I mean, okayk made a huge run back,
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: but that was you know, without their star player too.
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: So now so Golden State or sorry, Celtics three to
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: one over Atlanta Orlando Orlando once again this year. Then
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: the playoffs has made it tough, right, you know Tatum
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: missed the game. We know Drew Holiday has a hamstring.
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: Now is it just a miyor thing or whatever. I
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: don't know. They have, you know, so many ball handlers
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: and playmakers that they'll probably be okay until they get
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: to the conference final and then maybe the final. So
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: they do need to be healthy though, I will say that.
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: But they did make it through without of course, then
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: then they needed him for that little spark that he
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: gave and it kind of helped him. But this one
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: has been a good series. Orlando. It feels like they
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: just they need a point guard. But they have a
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: lot of repetition at certain you know, positions. But what
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: do you think of this series? Do you think it's over?
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: You think it's done? It's done in Boston or Orlando
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: kind of force it a little deeper because I think
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: I think it's done.
- 1:03:08Speaker 3: I do think that Orlando covers the spread. I think
- 1:03:12Speaker 3: they they have covered the spread a couple of times
- 1:03:14Speaker 3: this game. And I again, as I mentioned Golden State
- 1:03:18Speaker 3: and Houston, play really good defense. I didn't know this
- 1:03:21Speaker 3: because I didn't watch any Orlando games this year for
- 1:03:23Speaker 3: the bregular season, but Orlando has the best offensive defense
- 1:03:26Speaker 3: in the East, in the Eastern Conference. So defensively they
- 1:03:28Speaker 3: are good. Yeah, there may not be is they got
- 1:03:30Speaker 3: fair other offense a little bit, but they're up right
- 1:03:34Speaker 3: now early twenty one to fifteen. I do think Boston
- 1:03:37Speaker 3: wins the game tonight. I think they'll take care of
- 1:03:39Speaker 3: the six point deficit right now. But just because they're
- 1:03:42Speaker 3: at home and uh, you know, Tatum is probably gonna
- 1:03:46Speaker 3: with his boys, probably gonna take care of business. But
- 1:03:48Speaker 3: I do think Orlando has played people closely expected. The
- 1:03:52Speaker 3: Vegas points spreads for most of the series, Chris have
- 1:03:54Speaker 3: been covered by Orlando, So I do think that the
- 1:03:58Speaker 3: points spread book makers. How did the Magic a bit?
- 1:04:01Speaker 3: And if they do add a little bit of offense,
- 1:04:03Speaker 3: I missing a couple of wings too. I think this
- 1:04:06Speaker 3: Magic team, you know, we talked about for the past
- 1:04:08Speaker 3: three years, they've been a kind of first round knockouts,
- 1:04:10Speaker 3: Like what's wrong with them? I think if you have
- 1:04:13Speaker 3: the defense now and I forget what ESP guy was,
- 1:04:17Speaker 3: but one one dude said this past week he's like
- 1:04:19Speaker 3: he thinks that in a couple of years Paulo Banchero
- 1:04:22Speaker 3: could be a top top five player in the NBA. Like,
- 1:04:25Speaker 3: I don't know, I don't know who that, I forget
- 1:04:27Speaker 3: who was, But as an NBA he's definitely you get
- 1:04:33Speaker 3: You now got an alpha scorer and he got defense.
- 1:04:35Speaker 3: He maybe get a little more healthy. This team could
- 1:04:38Speaker 3: be good. I just don't think this is their year yet.
- 1:04:41Speaker 3: But if if, if, if they if they win, if
- 1:04:44Speaker 3: they win tonight, Ovie surprised he can go back to
- 1:04:46Speaker 3: Game seven. I don't think they will, but this magic
- 1:04:50Speaker 3: team is a step in the right direction and just
- 1:04:52Speaker 3: get a little healthier. Yeah, for Boston, this was again,
- 1:04:55Speaker 3: as we have said, probably a gentleman's sweep. They only
- 1:04:59Speaker 3: always let one go. So we're we we should have
- 1:05:01Speaker 3: both bet Celtics and five. My friend, that should have
- 1:05:03Speaker 3: been our trend one of our training picks for the
- 1:05:07Speaker 3: first podcast show of the year for us from the
- 1:05:09Speaker 3: NBA playoffs.
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure you said five.
- 1:05:14Speaker 3: I just went we should I should have bet it
- 1:05:16Speaker 3: before the Yeah, to make some money.
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: Off of but yeah, yeah, yeah, so obviously it's over now.
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: You know, the Pacers in overtime get the job done.
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: They cleaned up the series. Trent Junior tied the three
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: point record in the last or was it two games
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: ago with ninety threes. He's like, I'll put up eight
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: in this one, thirty three points. Giannis had thirty as well.
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: Obviously didn't get to see a.
- 1:05:56Speaker 3: Lot of this game.
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: But the Pacers man like, they had six guys and
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: double figures, very spread, and Alburton played pretty good it appears,
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: but you know, he just couldn't hit a three. But
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: McConnell came up big off the bench. It appears, didn't
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: even shoot a three. It was seven to eleven, one,
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: nineteen to one, eighteen. It's over no surprise there, obviously.
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: You know, I did think that Milwaukee could have maybe
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: pushed it to Game six. I remember saying, Matt, you know,
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: Dame did return, but then he got hurt and that
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: really sucks for him. Obviously, you knew something was gonna
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: happen in the offseason. You assumed anyway, whether it was
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: a trade, you know, who knows, who really knows if
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: you honest was going to force trade or whatever. But
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: now it's like, I'm kind of leaning to that more
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: now because you know, with like you can improve your
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: team through trades. But if you know Dame's not coming
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: back until at least you know, April, right, to make
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: it a year, and you're in your what is he
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: thirty five?
- 1:07:22Speaker 3: Something like that.
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: He's older, isn't he? Yes, so to come back from that,
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: and he's a little quick guy. Little quick guys that
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: are a little different and they need all that quickness
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: they can get and keep retained. So it just sucks. Man.
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: We can sit there and you know, I was just
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: talking about Holiday, the Drew Holiday thing. Obviously you know
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: that was a mistake. You know, some of their trades
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: you can you can be critical of. We talked about
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: this as we reviewed the series. I don't know. I mean,
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: they did win a championship though, you know, so that
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: that really stands out to me that they won a
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: championship at least, So we'll see. The rumor is Miami
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: and others we've heard Golden State. I don't think that now,
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: but it was before the Jimmy trade. There's a couple
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: of teams that really want you honest. Everybody wants you honest, right,
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: not everybody, but a lot of people. But they put
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: up a fight obviously right. I mean they pushed it
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: overtime tonight. It was a somewhat competitive series. I thought
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: it'd go at you know, one more had a chance
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: at a Game seven. But the Pacers, man, they got
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: it done. And you know, depending on what happens, you know,
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: they'll probably start either Saturday, actually they'll start Saturday. They're
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: gonna start Saturday more than likely, because it's either it
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: all depended on how series go, and usually that meant
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: Saturday or Sunday at the earliest for these series they
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: get going and Monday and Tuesday at the latest. And
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: so if one of those series between Golden State in
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: Houston or the Timbrels and Lakers, if one of those
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: goes game seven, that will start on Tuesday. So it's
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: like you'll go to a Game seven and hey, you know, boom,
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: you're going right there. So and the second round definitely
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: flows a lot quicker. And I believe there's somewhere in
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: the five, six, seven, somewhere in that range. There is
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: a two days off, but a lot of it's every
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: other other day that you got a game. So Pacers
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: looking pretty strong. Obviously they got a hell of a matchup.
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: You look at the Nicks and Pacers and you're like, yeah, man,
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: and then you look at who they got to play
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: next day, You're like, oh, that's gonna be.
- 1:10:01Speaker 3: A tough one. Uh. I will say the Bucks were
- 1:10:07Speaker 3: up four with forty seconds to go and then they
- 1:10:09Speaker 3: let no tea and the Bucks are up four with
- 1:10:11Speaker 3: twenty eight seconds going overtime and lost as well.
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: Y Gary trade they needed dame time. Man, that's uh.
- 1:10:21Speaker 3: Gary Trent Junior had a bad pass of twenty nine
- 1:10:23Speaker 3: seconds left and Halbert's made a layup, and then he
- 1:10:26Speaker 3: also Gary Trent Junior also had turned over with ten
- 1:10:30Speaker 3: seconds left and Halbert's made a lay up for the win.
- 1:10:32Speaker 3: So Gary Trent Junior did not have a good close
- 1:10:35Speaker 3: to the series, or else I could have gone back
- 1:10:37Speaker 3: to Milwaukee. So yeah, that was a tough one. And obviously, hey,
- 1:10:42Speaker 3: since he won a ring, you had, you had Middleton leave,
- 1:10:45Speaker 3: you had Drew Halty leave. It's kind of been a
- 1:10:46Speaker 3: tough patch. And now obviously the NBA, it's a starger
- 1:10:49Speaker 3: of the league. If you're honest watch I.
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: Want to say the Middleton he's not playing like he
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: was though, you know what I mean.
- 1:10:55Speaker 3: So maybe that was acceptable that yeah, it obviously he
- 1:11:00Speaker 3: still a big name.
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: But yeah, that's that's hindsight, you know that, you know.
- 1:11:08Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, And obviously in part of being a jam
- 1:11:11Speaker 3: it's you got to make the tough choices. But and
- 1:11:14Speaker 3: I guess they just extended the guy too. But yees,
- 1:11:16Speaker 3: since you're right, since they've won that rain, Chris, they've
- 1:11:18Speaker 3: kind of been really trending the wrong way despite still
- 1:11:21Speaker 3: having easily a top five player in the world, like
- 1:11:25Speaker 3: still on the team, who still has plenty of years left.
- 1:11:27Speaker 3: So if he dips out, man, you're you're looking at
- 1:11:30Speaker 3: a gram situation in Milwaukee. If if Jannis jumps out
- 1:11:33Speaker 3: of town.
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: Uh.
- 1:11:35Speaker 3: But hey, hats off to the Pacers. They were definitely
- 1:11:37Speaker 3: the better team in this series.
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: Uh.
- 1:11:40Speaker 3: I I like Halberton's just a fun guy to watch play.
- 1:11:43Speaker 3: I do think the Miles Turner is one of those
- 1:11:45Speaker 3: special bigs who can shoot the three ball really well. Again,
- 1:11:48Speaker 3: every time I watch him play, he just seems to
- 1:11:49Speaker 3: show out. So I guess I'm a Miles Turner fan.
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: He just for years I wanted the Timlves to get
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: him and put him next to Cat.
- 1:11:56Speaker 3: That that would do. That had been fun, that you
- 1:11:59Speaker 3: would have had two bigs that can thought a three
- 1:12:03Speaker 3: and then and then the rim protection he'd be doing
- 1:12:06Speaker 3: that and then yeah, funny enough, Kat's better at power
- 1:12:11Speaker 3: forward on defense, you know not but on defense he's
- 1:12:15Speaker 3: a better He's better at defense, he's not great and
- 1:12:18Speaker 3: drop coverage and all that. As a center, that would
- 1:12:22Speaker 3: have been a hell of that. That really would have
- 1:12:26Speaker 3: Oh my god.
- 1:12:28Speaker 1: He tried and tried, but remember how long that they've
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: been trying to trade him, and then they finally like,
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: let's just keep him. Yeah, because he was always on
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: the blocks, but they just held out him. He's a
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: damn good player, so you know, and I.
- 1:12:41Speaker 3: Think part of it was, as we said the first show, Uh,
- 1:12:44Speaker 3: you know that mojo you have to last year like
- 1:12:46Speaker 3: the Pacers. Yes, they got a little lucky with the
- 1:12:48Speaker 3: injury breaks, but they had a really good play for
- 1:12:50Speaker 3: last year. So it's no surprise it carried over and
- 1:12:56Speaker 3: you got you got some guards, you got some bigs.
- 1:12:58Speaker 3: It's a well oiled machine and it gets to play
- 1:13:00Speaker 3: fast tempo that that does. Obviously they've improved defensively, but
- 1:13:05Speaker 3: you gotta you gotta score with them, okay, because they're
- 1:13:08Speaker 3: gonna drop one hundred and twelve hundred and fifteen game.
- 1:13:10Speaker 3: You got to match it, and they got the dogs
- 1:13:12Speaker 3: to do it. So hats off to them.
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: I don't think even their backups. Dude, their backups are
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: running that damn. They ran us ragged on their backup
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: line up.
- 1:13:21Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't think a lot of people had them
- 1:13:23Speaker 3: winning five, maybe win the series, but they took care
- 1:13:25Speaker 3: of business. So credits to them, and uh, hey they're
- 1:13:28Speaker 3: they're advancing. Yeah, the Giannis Sweepstakes will potentially will begin offseason.
- 1:13:32Speaker 3: But that dude, that's a that's an all of a piece,
- 1:13:34Speaker 3: and that dude's got a lot of years left in
- 1:13:36Speaker 3: his body, so we'll see how that goes. Hats off
- 1:13:38Speaker 3: to the Pacers for being the I suppose now the
- 1:13:41Speaker 3: second team to officially win a Round one series in
- 1:13:45Speaker 3: the NBA playoffs. There you have it.
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: And you know, we had that one OKC game where
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: they had that crazy comeback to win, but that that
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: was a four to zero series. Memphis didn't really put
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: up a fight fight. I thought maybe there'd be two
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: out of the five or something that maybe they they
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: you know, get going or whatever. But and I mean Cleveland,
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: oh my god, like you know, we know that their
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: comp wasn't crazy, but analytically they freaking buried them, dude,
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: I mean it was. I think it's the biggest point
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: differential of all time in the playoffs. Like I can't
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: say it any other way.
- 1:14:33Speaker 3: Are you talking Cleveland Orth or Cleveland or okay see
- 1:14:38Speaker 3: or both?
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: Well really both, but analytically Cleveland buried them, like as
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: far as the point differential, the most point differential of
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: all time. But yeah, both of them buried them. Not
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: much to talk about both of them sweets. There was
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: that one game, you know, where they had to make
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: a crazy comeback, but other than that, not much there,
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: you know. So you know those series pretty much, they're
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: just gonna wait and see what happens. Now, well, not
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: not Cleveland. We know Cleveland's playing Indiana, and I assume
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: that would start Saturday. Maybe it would start even Friday
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: night now that I think about it, So Tuesday night.
- 1:15:22Speaker 3: Bet the overs because hey, people plays just as fast
- 1:15:26Speaker 3: fast as Yeah, so that's gonna be just some too
- 1:15:30Speaker 3: too well oiled offensive machines in that series.
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: Yes, that's that's a great, Like I said, that's a great,
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: like Boston, like, we don't tell me the Knicks stuff
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: now because I don't want to get spoiled.
- 1:15:43Speaker 3: Okay, I was about to sow I will say anything.
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: Yeah, don't tell me, because I'm kind of pissed. I
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: had to check to not see that overtime ship because
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: I recorded that second half too.
- 1:15:57Speaker 3: Oh shit, sorry, brother, Okay, my bad.
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: No, no, I'm the one who brought it up. I
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: had to look because I had to see where we're
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: at the series, you know, to talk about it. I
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: was hoping it wasn't done yet when I looked at it,
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: you know, and it's still going. No, it's my fault.
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: I did to myself, but I had to be done.
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: But you know, like that's a great series on paper,
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: it's more of a hardcore series. I'd say Cleveland and
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: Indiana isn't going to go crazy with the ratings per se.
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: But if you get to the five, six, or I
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: should say, if you get to the six or seven
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: game series, that's when it can get really interesting and
- 1:16:41Speaker 1: then everybody, casual fans, everybody gets involved, you know, ratings wise,
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: and that is we've had a damn good first round
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: so far. The ratings are up, you know, the first weekend,
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: although it wasn't a great weekend per se. There was
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: a couple okay games, no doubt, but overall it wasn't
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: a great one, but it it actually had a Bonker's ratings. Uh.
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: And the follow up now has been pretty good here,
- 1:17:13Speaker 1: really good. Actually, the Lakers Timberwolves first round or yeah,
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: the first round NBA Playoff Game four average seven point
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: three to five million. It was up thirty two percent
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: from last year's Clippers Mavericks. And remember this two years ago,
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: that Warriors King series.
- 1:17:30Speaker 3: Remember that, Oh that that was a great series.
- 1:17:33Speaker 1: That was yes, and that's the only one.
- 1:17:37Speaker 3: Uh.
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: So it's the second most watched game four, whereas that
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: was number one seven point five. This one was seven
- 1:17:45Speaker 1: point three, so it was right there. The Knicks Pistons
- 1:17:50Speaker 1: was actually down from Philly Knicks just a little like
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: sixteen percent. The Friday night Timberwolves Lakers was up thirty
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: percent uh from Celtics Magics or Magic And overall the
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: cover it's up thirteen percent uh from last year. So,
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: like I said, they had that big weekend to start
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: out with, and so far, so good. Like it's as
- 1:18:20Speaker 1: far as just the ESPN platforms, it's so far through
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: eleven games, Uh, it is their highest rated since they
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: started taking over, uh, the NBA once once they got it.
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: You know, now there is out of home ratings now,
- 1:18:39Speaker 1: so in bars, in restaurants and and uh like the airport,
- 1:18:46Speaker 1: they do measure that, whereas they didn't before. So it's
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: it's still a funky measurement in general Neelsen ratings. But overall, uh,
- 1:18:57Speaker 1: you know, things are looking up that way, that's for sure.
- 1:19:02Speaker 1: And you know another thing, about the beginning of the season,
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: the ratings were down fairly sizably. But I did some
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: research in general. I went first to hockey. How was
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: it doing at that time? This was before Christmas, and
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: it was down the the NFL. Actually now it's just
- 1:19:23Speaker 1: a it's just slightly down, like two percent, but it
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: was down the regular season. The only regular season platform
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: that saw gains was Amazon, so and you know, it
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: was political season, and these last three presidential runs have
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: been very you know, distracting, let's say, right, so it
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: has distracted a lot of people from that obviously twenty
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: twenty at COVID and all that stuff too. So either way,
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: they had the biggest Christmas they've ever had, even with
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: the NFL says to the I was nineteen, and they
- 1:20:01Speaker 1: ended up only being down a percent from last year,
- 1:20:07Speaker 1: and ABC was up ten percent because they kind of
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: backload the schedule now to get some big matchups down
- 1:20:15Speaker 1: the stretch instead of wasting them too much on the
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: early stuff when football is still going. I also noticed
- 1:20:22Speaker 1: that multiple games that were you know, broadcasted at that time,
- 1:20:27Speaker 1: the star player was hurt, so that played into it too.
- 1:20:31Speaker 1: So a lot of people love to just you know,
- 1:20:35Speaker 1: go won't go broke with the NBA, even though they're
- 1:20:38Speaker 1: gonna double and maybe triple their last deal, but they
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: love whatever reason. It doesn't matter what's up or down.
- 1:20:47Speaker 1: If the NBA is slightly down, it's the ratings are horrible.
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: It's always been that way. I know why, but we
- 1:20:54Speaker 1: won't get into that right now. But sure, overall it's
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: pretty solid now. Obviously, they wanted the Lakers in Golden
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: State in round two. They still want that, right, so
- 1:21:06Speaker 1: that would be a blockbuster for ratings. But just getting
- 1:21:11Speaker 1: one of them would be big, and that younger team
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: would have gone through some players like Jimmy Butler and
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: Curry in Luca and Lebron.
- 1:21:23Speaker 3: So.
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: We'll see, we'll see how it goes. Obviously, I'm hoping
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: for my Wolves, and the tim Wolves were like the
- 1:21:30Speaker 1: highest rated team last year up until like Game three
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: against Dallas, because you know, once you're down three zip,
- 1:21:38Speaker 1: everyone knows the series done, so it kind.
- 1:21:40Speaker 5: Of pill part.
- 1:21:40Speaker 1: But that's the thing. Once we've gotten to the second
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: and into the semifinals. In the finals, we need six
- 1:21:48Speaker 1: game series. It's not always seven, right, I mean sometimes
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: it is, but like, but sometimes the seven games can
- 1:21:55Speaker 1: be boots, you know, Whereas sometimes you can get a
- 1:21:59Speaker 1: six game series and four out of the six are
- 1:22:01Speaker 1: good and the closers good, it's just almost as strong
- 1:22:05Speaker 1: as the game seven. So that's kind of been. It's
- 1:22:08Speaker 1: like we've had six straight years with a new champ,
- 1:22:12Speaker 1: no repeats, and right now some of those teams have
- 1:22:16Speaker 1: a chance to get closer to that. And that's when
- 1:22:20Speaker 1: you start to if you can get six and seven
- 1:22:23Speaker 1: game series, and you can get someone trying like Boston
- 1:22:27Speaker 1: trying to go for a repeat, it starts to get
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: the casual fan base really mixed up, you know what
- 1:22:33Speaker 1: I mean?
- 1:22:34Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, And just to I just for my head,
- 1:22:38Speaker 3: I just what was your prediction for the Golden State
- 1:22:41Speaker 3: Houston want to get.
- 1:22:43Speaker 1: Oh, Golden State, and well it was six. Okay, I
- 1:22:49Speaker 1: don't yeah six, it's still six.
- 1:22:52Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, okay, Golden Stad six Okay, got you all right?
- 1:22:56Speaker 3: Uh yeah, so hey, again, this has been the I mean, hey,
- 1:23:00Speaker 3: the Western Conference has been delivered besides the OKC Memphis Rundown.
- 1:23:04Speaker 3: But hey, okay, see we will get to the next
- 1:23:06Speaker 3: week because that is a very good team. They just
- 1:23:09Speaker 3: kind of had a cake walk and no one got hurt,
- 1:23:12Speaker 3: so that that team's dangerous. And the Grizzlies just it
- 1:23:14Speaker 3: wasn't there year year.
- 1:23:16Speaker 1: So it's a good call with no injuries because that
- 1:23:18Speaker 1: would suck.
- 1:23:20Speaker 3: Yeah, like you know sometimes and again that's that's what
- 1:23:23Speaker 3: can decide a series. Like again, I still think the
- 1:23:27Speaker 3: words get on the ring if Clay doesn't tear his
- 1:23:29Speaker 3: acl but it happens and Kyrie, you could say the
- 1:23:32Speaker 3: same thing to flip for Kyrie if he doesn't tears me.
- 1:23:35Speaker 1: So hey, if Sam Cassell doesn't get hurt Game one
- 1:23:37Speaker 1: against the Lakers in the conference final in two thousand
- 1:23:40Speaker 1: and four, we matched up a lot better with that
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: Detroit basketball team.
- 1:23:44Speaker 3: Uh huh, so hey, you just gotta gotta pray, hope
- 1:23:48Speaker 3: and obviously no one ever wants the insured, especially for
- 1:23:51Speaker 3: day and like one of the faces of the league
- 1:23:53Speaker 3: for all we can tell, just a really good dude.
- 1:23:55Speaker 3: That was sad to see, but it's part of and
- 1:23:58Speaker 3: I think truly show. My last play in the show
- 1:24:01Speaker 3: will be watching that Wolves game three, in game four,
- 1:24:05Speaker 3: or especially game four, the stuff that Lebron can still
- 1:24:08Speaker 3: do the shire for a dude that is forty years old.
- 1:24:12Speaker 3: Like I know he did have that foul, but like
- 1:24:14Speaker 3: he had a couple of defensive plays in that game
- 1:24:16Speaker 3: where he like he's straight up like stripped like it
- 1:24:20Speaker 3: or like or Jamie Daniels and but it's like, dudeah,
- 1:24:22Speaker 3: you're forty and you're ripping this kid who's like fifteen
- 1:24:25Speaker 3: years like I don't. And he had block too, Like
- 1:24:29Speaker 3: the dude doesn't. He hasn't slowed down, Chris, you're supposed
- 1:24:33Speaker 3: to still. Now you get the forty and he's out
- 1:24:34Speaker 3: there like playing a full game almost with like and
- 1:24:37Speaker 3: he's not getting embarrassed defensively.
- 1:24:39Speaker 1: Like I think game remember game two he trapped that
- 1:24:43Speaker 1: ball on the on the backboard.
- 1:24:46Speaker 3: Yeah, he's it's it's sh just And that's why.
- 1:24:49Speaker 1: I think if they can get the right parts like
- 1:24:52Speaker 1: Luca's perfect for him because he's finally a guy that
- 1:24:56Speaker 1: can take the pressure off him offensively, so they he
- 1:25:00Speaker 1: can do that type of thing, you know, and when
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: he can focus. Hey, you know what you're going off,
- 1:25:07Speaker 1: everything's going good with you. I'm gonna go on the
- 1:25:09Speaker 1: defensive end now, and that gets scary obviously. You know.
- 1:25:12Speaker 1: We'll see how this this plays out.
- 1:25:15Speaker 3: Yeah, there was the one time when Lebron had the ball,
- 1:25:17Speaker 3: like it was just him and Devon Chanzo between the
- 1:25:19Speaker 3: at the free throw line. I'm like, oh, yeah, this
- 1:25:21Speaker 3: ain't gonna go good. Yeah, he kind of turned his shoulder,
- 1:25:24Speaker 3: did that old lay defense, Like, I don't blame you,
- 1:25:26Speaker 3: dog like dude. Lebron is still a force at forty.
- 1:25:29Speaker 3: So all right, so we'll be back next week. I'll
- 1:25:32Speaker 3: be probably coaching Freeze. I'll make a little more easier
- 1:25:35Speaker 3: time time to watch more games and lose more sleep. Hey,
- 1:25:39Speaker 3: the boys are out. Enjoy the nice weather. Hopefully the
- 1:25:42Speaker 3: springtime is kicking in. Wherever you live, we're out. Peace
