- 0:01Speaker 1: You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
- 0:05Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus. After ten yard line second to day free
- 0:08Speaker 1: wide receivers now in motion has Bumpas left to right,
- 0:12Speaker 1: Julius Jones, a single setback Matt Pumpfecks looking at the
- 0:14Speaker 1: goal line, he throws it into the end zone. Touchdown.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Say Hawks, it's Michael Bumpas with a diving catching the
- 0:21Speaker 1: end zone. Our ten yard touchdown reception for Bumpas, and
- 0:25Speaker 1: a kid out of Washington State has found himself a
- 0:29Speaker 1: place on this team. Powered by Seahawks dot Com. Welcome
- 0:34Speaker 1: to Hawk Talk Recap edition. I am Michael Bumpas. The
- 0:36Speaker 1: Seahawks fall to the Rams twenty to ten in Los Angeles.
- 0:40Speaker 1: A tough game. Playoff hopes are probably gone. But to
- 0:43Speaker 1: help me break this all down, we're gonna go into
- 0:45Speaker 1: trenches with Ray Roberts. It's time to go inside the
- 0:50Speaker 1: trenches with former Seahawk Ray Roberts. Big Ray, tough game
- 0:56Speaker 1: down in LA or so off. How are you doing, man?
- 0:59Speaker 1: I'm doing all right, brother, you know, tough day, like
- 1:01Speaker 1: you said, but recovering this morning. Yeah. Man, it was
- 1:05Speaker 1: a weird game, right these guys play on the Tuesday.
- 1:09Speaker 1: The Rams have about twenty five guys on that COVID list.
- 1:12Speaker 1: The games pushed back, they get some key pieces back
- 1:15Speaker 1: because that game is pushed back. The Hawks lose a
- 1:17Speaker 1: couple of pieces, and then we go out first quarter
- 1:22Speaker 1: three to three. It's been a battle. You go into
- 1:25Speaker 1: the halftime all knotted up. Second half comes around and
- 1:28Speaker 1: things change. When you look at this offense, what did
- 1:31Speaker 1: you see and what do you think needed to happen
- 1:34Speaker 1: for them to be successful in this game? You know what,
- 1:36Speaker 1: if you if you really look back at the offfective performance,
- 1:39Speaker 1: they never really put like two or three or three
- 1:43Speaker 1: or four like really good plays together, and then they
- 1:47Speaker 1: kept having setbacks with untimely penalties like you know, um,
- 1:51Speaker 1: you know with Shard Penny, I think he only finished
- 1:55Speaker 1: with you know, maybe thirty something yards rushing, but he
- 1:59Speaker 1: had another twenty yards left on the field that were
- 2:02Speaker 1: called back because it's holding calls. And so you think
- 2:05Speaker 1: about in that situation, you know, it's first and ten,
- 2:08Speaker 1: you pick up eight or nine yards a second and two,
- 2:10Speaker 1: you're probably gonna run it again. But with the ability,
- 2:13Speaker 1: you end up with first and twenty, So you're not
- 2:15Speaker 1: going to run the ball in that situation. So so
- 2:18Speaker 1: it was just really untimely mishaps that kind of kept
- 2:22Speaker 1: the offense from kind of getting in stride, just you know,
- 2:26Speaker 1: the ball not been thrown quite far enough, or the
- 2:29Speaker 1: esprits you know, like you know, making a really tough,
- 2:33Speaker 1: tough catch even though you know, had it in his
- 2:35Speaker 1: hands to the ground between two guys that like every
- 2:37Speaker 1: now and then to see how the offense live on
- 2:40Speaker 1: stuff like that, on big plays like that, the magic
- 2:43Speaker 1: of Russell Wilson, the connectedness between him and and Tyler Lockett,
- 2:47Speaker 1: you know, who wasn't playing yesterday, So I think a
- 2:49Speaker 1: lot of that stuff was missing yesterday, and quite frankly,
- 2:52Speaker 1: it's just kind of been missing most of the season. Yeah,
- 2:55Speaker 1: I'm with you, Ray. Not having Tyler Lockett I felt
- 2:58Speaker 1: was huge right discas was over four. When it comes
- 3:02Speaker 1: to targets, DCA had twelve targets on a few receptions.
- 3:05Speaker 1: Do you think yesterday we saw how valuable Tyler Lockett
- 3:09Speaker 1: really is to this offense? I think so, because you know,
- 3:12Speaker 1: Tyler just finds a way to get open and hen
- 3:15Speaker 1: Russ has this this type of connectedness and trust with
- 3:19Speaker 1: each other, uh that they can make plays, you know,
- 3:22Speaker 1: out of nothing. It doesn't mean that those other guys can't.
- 3:25Speaker 1: It just it just means that Tyler's just been more
- 3:27Speaker 1: proficient at at actually doing it, you know. And so
- 3:31Speaker 1: and then you you know, you have to think too
- 3:33Speaker 1: that with Tyler in there, there's a little bit more
- 3:36Speaker 1: respect for him than there would be for a d Estridge,
- 3:38Speaker 1: you know. So then you're gonna draw some coverage maybe
- 3:41Speaker 1: from DK in certain situations where you get DK cleaner
- 3:45Speaker 1: look at, you know, catching the ball and being able
- 3:46Speaker 1: to do some damage and vice versa. And I don't
- 3:49Speaker 1: you didn't have that dynamic yesterday. Like I think for
- 3:52Speaker 1: the Sea officer have performed well yesterday, they needed a
- 3:55Speaker 1: huge game from DK Metcalf and they needed at least
- 4:00Speaker 1: sixty seventy maybe eighty yards out of Richard Penny, and
- 4:03Speaker 1: I think the offense would have been in the position
- 4:05Speaker 1: to do some damage. But neither one of those things happened. Yeah,
- 4:09Speaker 1: on the outside, I don't think we got enough production.
- 4:11Speaker 1: But on that offensive line, it seemed like Russ has
- 4:14Speaker 1: some time back there there were a couple of players
- 4:17Speaker 1: where I felt Damian Lewis gotta beat But that's just
- 4:19Speaker 1: part of the game, especially when you're playing against Aaron
- 4:22Speaker 1: Downd on that line. What you see from the offensive line,
- 4:25Speaker 1: you know what I saw, you know, a couple of
- 4:27Speaker 1: weeks ago, I just said, you know, I think the
- 4:29Speaker 1: offense needs to the line needs to grind a little harder, strained,
- 4:34Speaker 1: a little harder, try to move a little quicker, to spend,
- 4:38Speaker 1: you know, you know, take another step trying to finish.
- 4:41Speaker 1: Sometimes those little things are all the difference that it makes,
- 4:44Speaker 1: and it seems like that's what they were doing yesterday
- 4:46Speaker 1: as well. Even in the running game. It's unfortunate that
- 4:49Speaker 1: the holding calls kind of called some players back in
- 4:52Speaker 1: The offense wasn't in a reason to keep running because
- 4:54Speaker 1: Richard Pam was running hard, the offensive line was blocking
- 4:57Speaker 1: hard and trying to finish. And then same thing was
- 5:00Speaker 1: happening in the passing game. I can't remember the last
- 5:03Speaker 1: time wherever multiple opportunities where Russell was sitting back there
- 5:07Speaker 1: just patting the ball, trying to figure out who to
- 5:09Speaker 1: throw the ball to. An unfortunate thing about that situation
- 5:12Speaker 1: is that with that defensive line, to be able to
- 5:14Speaker 1: get Russell that much time on that many occasions, there
- 5:18Speaker 1: needed to be big place made out of that. And
- 5:21Speaker 1: I would imagine I think two or three times he
- 5:23Speaker 1: just threw the ball away. There was someone to throw
- 5:24Speaker 1: the ball too, and that was unfortunate because you just
- 5:27Speaker 1: wasted even not just didn't. You didn't take advantage of
- 5:31Speaker 1: such great pass attention against the defensive line that can
- 5:34Speaker 1: really get after it. And so and then you know,
- 5:36Speaker 1: you brought up Damian Lewis too, and Damion you know,
- 5:39Speaker 1: maybe it's injuries or set your slump or whatever it is,
- 5:42Speaker 1: but but he's wanted to do that. At the end
- 5:47Speaker 1: of this season, he can't be happy with himself. He can't.
- 5:51Speaker 1: He can't wait for someone to come and tell him
- 5:54Speaker 1: what he needs to improve on. He has to be
- 5:56Speaker 1: able to look at the film and know, like, you
- 5:58Speaker 1: know what, I need to be better at this thing.
- 6:00Speaker 1: I think this year he came in and and and
- 6:04Speaker 1: I can't get into his head and think, but in
- 6:06Speaker 1: my opinion, it seems like he just wanted to outmuscle
- 6:09Speaker 1: everybody in this league. There's a lot of strong dudes,
- 6:13Speaker 1: and if you can't move your feet and have good
- 6:16Speaker 1: hands and feet, you're not gonna block anybody. He has
- 6:19Speaker 1: those things, but those things don't seem to be showing
- 6:23Speaker 1: up for him this year, and I don't know why
- 6:25Speaker 1: he should have had a breakout season. But hopefully, you know,
- 6:28Speaker 1: the rest of this year and an end to the
- 6:30Speaker 1: off season, he can start to work on those things. Yeah,
- 6:33Speaker 1: that that sophomore slump, I feel like he's in. But
- 6:36Speaker 1: I think we've spoken to Damien Lewis and we both
- 6:39Speaker 1: agree that he's gonna bounce back and he's gonna be
- 6:41Speaker 1: all right. But let's pitch over to the defensive line
- 6:44Speaker 1: because there's a guy named Carlos Dunlapp who hasn't been
- 6:46Speaker 1: used a lot this year, who had a game three
- 6:50Speaker 1: sacks first time since twenty fifteen. Michael Bennon was the
- 6:53Speaker 1: last time to have three sacks for the Seahawks. What
- 6:55Speaker 1: you see out of that defensive line and specifically Carlos
- 6:58Speaker 1: dunlap well, I thought they played it. I thought to
- 7:00Speaker 1: do because the line played a pretty good game. They
- 7:03Speaker 1: got some pressure on Matthew Stafford, they got knocked into
- 7:08Speaker 1: the ground a few times. They had what four stacked,
- 7:11Speaker 1: you know, Carlos had three of those, and so I
- 7:15Speaker 1: just thought that the food whatever, you know, we talked
- 7:17Speaker 1: before the game about matchups and our decent line matched
- 7:21Speaker 1: up well against their offensive lines, and uh, and we're
- 7:24Speaker 1: able to make some plays. And then super happy for
- 7:26Speaker 1: Carlos Man. Like I said in the post game, a
- 7:28Speaker 1: lot of people putting his position would just kind of
- 7:31Speaker 1: piled around and give you all the reasons why they
- 7:33Speaker 1: should be getting more planned time. And you know, a
- 7:36Speaker 1: couple of weeks ago, he just said, Man, I'm just
- 7:38Speaker 1: owning what they're asking me to do. I'm gonna be
- 7:40Speaker 1: the best at what I can do in the town
- 7:42Speaker 1: that they're given me. And you know, some people might say, well, men,
- 7:45Speaker 1: he got three sacks, he should get more playing time,
- 7:47Speaker 1: But it might be the fact that he's not getting
- 7:49Speaker 1: more planning time that's allowing him to get the sacks
- 7:52Speaker 1: because he has more energy as more explosion. He is
- 7:54Speaker 1: a dude that's played a lot of football, and so
- 7:57Speaker 1: the kind of grind at sixty seventy percent of the
- 7:59Speaker 1: play I don't know. I don't know if that's where
- 8:02Speaker 1: he is in his career, but the way they're doing
- 8:05Speaker 1: this load management with him, he's been very productive in it.
- 8:08Speaker 1: And so uh, if if you know he's got three
- 8:11Speaker 1: sacks on other dudes that are out there longer don't
- 8:13Speaker 1: have one. So I'm happy for him. I'm happy to
- 8:16Speaker 1: what he owned the position, and I'm happy with the
- 8:18Speaker 1: production and the way they're using it. So all NBA
- 8:21Speaker 1: load management working out for Carlos Dunlap. All right, now, Ray,
- 8:24Speaker 1: last when I got for these guys are five and nine.
- 8:26Speaker 1: The playoffs are probably out of reach. Um, what's the
- 8:29Speaker 1: menstal of this team? And how do you think they
- 8:31Speaker 1: go forward and finished wrong? Yeah, well, unfortunately, I've been
- 8:35Speaker 1: on a lot of teams that they were out of
- 8:38Speaker 1: the playoffs way earlier than this, and uh, and so
- 8:41Speaker 1: just trying to keep your yourself locked in and focused
- 8:44Speaker 1: on the work and then bringing the energy uh you know,
- 8:47Speaker 1: to the practice field, to the meeting rooms, uh, you know,
- 8:51Speaker 1: to the to the to the games. It's gonna be vital.
- 8:54Speaker 1: And I think this team has the right people in
- 8:57Speaker 1: the leadership positions to make sure that that happens. Because
- 9:00Speaker 1: you know that Russell Wilson is not going to back down,
- 9:02Speaker 1: Bobby Wagener's not going to back down. It looks like
- 9:07Speaker 1: Jordan Brooks is kind of built in that same mold.
- 9:09Speaker 1: He's gonna play into the last whistle, and so You're
- 9:12Speaker 1: gonna have to bring a lot of those younger guys
- 9:13Speaker 1: along that maybe haven't been in this position before that
- 9:17Speaker 1: every day still matters, every step still matters, every meeting
- 9:21Speaker 1: still matters, every game still matters. And it's your job,
- 9:25Speaker 1: you know, you get paid to do it, and you
- 9:27Speaker 1: have to go out to them do ity the best
- 9:28Speaker 1: your ability. I can't say that one hundred percent of
- 9:32Speaker 1: the team is going to be all bought bought in
- 9:34Speaker 1: and gun holds to it, but you gotta have enough
- 9:37Speaker 1: of your team still bought into it to finish the
- 9:39Speaker 1: season strong, even if it's just for your own personal Like,
- 9:43Speaker 1: there has to be some personal pride in there somewhere
- 9:46Speaker 1: that goes you know, and I'm lining up across from
- 9:47Speaker 1: this guy, I'm going to give him the best I got, Like,
- 9:50Speaker 1: I'm not out here to get embarrassed no matter what
- 9:51Speaker 1: the record is, you know, and so some of that
- 9:54Speaker 1: has to play a part of the two. I'm to
- 9:57Speaker 1: be a professional. Ray. Thank you for being a professional
- 10:00Speaker 1: all year, showed up for us, man. I appreciate you,
- 10:02Speaker 1: big dog. Well, thanks for having me, big dog, and uh,
- 10:05Speaker 1: good work with yourself, you know, on the on the radio,
- 10:07Speaker 1: all the stuff that they have you doing. You're knocking
- 10:09Speaker 1: it up, brother, Appreciate you man. I'll talk to you soon.
- 10:12Speaker 1: All right, Pete, all right, let's get deeper into this
- 10:15Speaker 1: thing and figure out what happened and bringing NASA Chobe
- 10:17Speaker 1: see what happened. At first, what had happened was unhard
- 10:23Speaker 1: dog man bump. Every game in an NFC West is
- 10:28Speaker 1: a battle, and Tuesday night was no different. The Seahawks
- 10:31Speaker 1: faced a ton of adversity this week and it started
- 10:33Speaker 1: with the game postponement. The Seahawks were schedule to play
- 10:35Speaker 1: the Rams, as we know, on Sunday. The Rams had
- 10:38Speaker 1: about twenty five guys on the COVID list that league
- 10:40Speaker 1: pushed the game back to Tuesday night, and then the
- 10:43Speaker 1: Seahawks unfortunately, had got the short end of the stick.
- 10:45Speaker 1: While the Rams were getting players back like Odell Beckham,
- 10:47Speaker 1: Junior Von Miller, Jalen Ramsey, the Seahawks were losing players
- 10:51Speaker 1: there without Tyler Lockett, dj Reid, Brandon Shell, Kerry Hyder,
- 10:55Speaker 1: Travis Homer, and Brian Monain. But despite all that, they
- 10:59Speaker 1: gave the Rams all they could handle, losing twenty to ten.
- 11:03Speaker 1: Unfortunately for the Seahawks. Though this game followed a very
- 11:06Speaker 1: familiar pattern we've seen all season long. The Seahawks ran
- 11:09Speaker 1: just fifty three plays and lost the time of possession
- 11:11Speaker 1: thirty five minutes and six seconds to twenty four minutes
- 11:14Speaker 1: and fifty four seconds. The Seahawks were held under twenty
- 11:17Speaker 1: points for the seventh time this season. Third downs been
- 11:21Speaker 1: an Achilles heal all the year for the Seahawks. They're
- 11:24Speaker 1: only able to convert three of twelve. The offense only
- 11:27Speaker 1: had really one good drive all night, which when eleven
- 11:29Speaker 1: plays seventy five yards ended with a DJ Dallas touchdown.
- 11:33Speaker 1: That was the longest drive the entire season. Entering last night,
- 11:37Speaker 1: every other team in the NFL had at least four
- 11:39Speaker 1: touchdown drives of eleven plus plays, So that kind of
- 11:41Speaker 1: shows you where the Seahawks are at offensively in terms
- 11:44Speaker 1: of sustaining drives. But despite all that great affort by
- 11:47Speaker 1: the Seahawks defense kept them in the game. They held
- 11:50Speaker 1: the Rams to just three points in the first half,
- 11:52Speaker 1: able to sack Matthew Stafford four times. Quandre Digs doing
- 11:56Speaker 1: his thing, got his fifth interception of the season, and
- 11:59Speaker 1: the Seahawks held the fourth best scoring offensive just twenty points.
- 12:03Speaker 1: The only player to really go off for the Rams
- 12:04Speaker 1: was Cooper cup and we it's Cooper cup Man stabbed me.
- 12:07Speaker 1: You've heard this before. Dude is an absolute ball or
- 12:09Speaker 1: best receiver in the game right now. Nine receptions, one
- 12:12Speaker 1: hundred and thirty six yards and two touchdowns. But bump,
- 12:15Speaker 1: it came down to one sequence. You know, all games
- 12:17Speaker 1: come down a couple plays, So fast forward to the
- 12:20Speaker 1: fourth quarter. The Seahawks defense forces a huge punt from
- 12:23Speaker 1: the Rams. Seahawks get the ball back down seven with
- 12:26Speaker 1: five twenty five left in the game, and the Seahawks
- 12:28Speaker 1: start driving and then an incredibly painful sequence ensues. Seahawks
- 12:33Speaker 1: are facing a third and one at the Rams forty
- 12:35Speaker 1: five yard line. Then Rashad Penny might have just took
- 12:38Speaker 1: a breath. I don't know if flinch. It was one
- 12:40Speaker 1: of the tikie tack false start penalties I've ever seen.
- 12:43Speaker 1: He gets hit with a false star back to Seahawks
- 12:44Speaker 1: up five yards. Then they do try to go outside
- 12:47Speaker 1: with Rashad Penny take a one yard loss that set
- 12:50Speaker 1: to a fourth and six. In my goodness, the refs
- 12:55Speaker 1: did not cost the Seahawks the game, but that was
- 12:57Speaker 1: one of the most egregious calls I think I've ever
- 12:59Speaker 1: seen into the Rams in the Saints and the playoffs.
- 13:02Speaker 1: DJ Dallas gets absolutely tackled before the ball gets there.
- 13:05Speaker 1: Russell Wilson floats it up, no flax from the official,
- 13:08Speaker 1: then gets bad to worse. CJ Dallas kicks the ball
- 13:10Speaker 1: at of frustration. Rams takeover kick a field goal and
- 13:13Speaker 1: that was it for Seattle. So very frustrating. The Seahawks
- 13:17Speaker 1: obviously needed to get win to keep their playoff hopes alive.
- 13:19Speaker 1: It's just really disappointing because every single game this year
- 13:23Speaker 1: the Seahawks have been within a touchdown in the fourth quarter.
- 13:25Speaker 1: Yesterday was no different. Um just really tough loss for
- 13:28Speaker 1: the Seahawks, but it was good to see a lot
- 13:30Speaker 1: of those guys out there battling, playing hard for those guys.
- 13:34Speaker 1: But let's get into the playmakers. See who balled out playmakers?
- 13:48Speaker 1: So we're gonna get into playmakers. But I want to
- 13:50Speaker 1: ask you something before we do. Okay, does the NFL
- 13:54Speaker 1: sind Pete Carroll an apology? Do they make this right
- 13:57Speaker 1: as far as that no call, no passing Ferarence called
- 14:00Speaker 1: on DJ Dallas, Well, you know, I don't think that.
- 14:03Speaker 1: I don't think it will make it right. But you know,
- 14:04Speaker 1: every coach every week sends tape from the game and
- 14:08Speaker 1: plays that they want to dispute to the league. League offense,
- 14:11Speaker 1: looks at office, looks at it, reviews it, then sends
- 14:14Speaker 1: it back and sometimes you say, hey, man, we miss
- 14:16Speaker 1: that one, and I don't know if that's the worst bump.
- 14:18Speaker 1: I honestly don't even want confirmation because if I saw
- 14:21Speaker 1: my two eyes, I don't want someone telling me after
- 14:22Speaker 1: the fact, who I know that call might have really
- 14:25Speaker 1: changed the game for you. We got it wrong, man,
- 14:27Speaker 1: My bad, my bad, you know what I'm saying. So
- 14:30Speaker 1: I think that's gonna happen. Obviously, Pete Carroll is gonna
- 14:33Speaker 1: take the high road and do everything he's gonna do
- 14:35Speaker 1: as a head coach and not focus on that. But
- 14:37Speaker 1: I'm sure behind the scenes there is some film being
- 14:39Speaker 1: discussed and being like, what is going on? Y'all got
- 14:41Speaker 1: to be better? Straight up, if I'm a head coach,
- 14:44Speaker 1: I need a phone call in thirty seconds for me
- 14:46Speaker 1: to just quay. That's all I need. That's all I need. Okay,
- 14:50Speaker 1: back to the play, Maga, speaking of the guy who
- 14:52Speaker 1: didn't get the pass interference call, We're gonna start with
- 14:54Speaker 1: DJ Dallas at eight carries for forty one yards, one
- 14:57Speaker 1: touchdown average five point one yards per carry. That drive
- 15:01Speaker 1: coming out of the out of halftime, that eleven play,
- 15:03Speaker 1: seventy five yard of drive. They ran the full bottle
- 15:06Speaker 1: of those eleven players. I believe they ran it six
- 15:08Speaker 1: times and DJ Dallas was a big part of that.
- 15:10Speaker 1: It was nice to see him step in when Penny
- 15:12Speaker 1: was banged up a little bit. Not really sure what happened,
- 15:14Speaker 1: but he went to the sideline four bib. DJ stepped
- 15:17Speaker 1: in and did his thing and could have made one
- 15:20Speaker 1: of the biggest plays in the game with that pass
- 15:22Speaker 1: and affair. Ands just didn't work out for him, but
- 15:24Speaker 1: it's nice to see DJ out there. Needs to control
- 15:26Speaker 1: his temper a little bit. I feel you I would
- 15:29Speaker 1: have felt like kicking that football after the no call,
- 15:31Speaker 1: But other than that, I think DJ stepped in and
- 15:33Speaker 1: had a good day. I'd love to see it from DJ,
- 15:35Speaker 1: definitely showing me his versatility and why he's an important
- 15:38Speaker 1: member of this football team. Another playmaker, Gerald Everett four
- 15:41Speaker 1: reception sixty yards on four targets, including along of thirty
- 15:45Speaker 1: four yards. Nice to see him involved. He's obviously super
- 15:48Speaker 1: versatile has been a really key contributor to Seahawks offense
- 15:52Speaker 1: despite their struggles. You know, I know he wanted to
- 15:54Speaker 1: get a dub against his former team, was not able
- 15:56Speaker 1: to play in the first matchup, and you know, did
- 15:58Speaker 1: everything possible he could, and the second matchup unfortunately just
- 16:01Speaker 1: wasn't enough, but he did lead all receivers for the
- 16:03Speaker 1: Seahawks with sixty yards. Next we have Jordan Brooks. Man.
- 16:08Speaker 1: This guy is really stepping up, being consistent and had
- 16:10Speaker 1: eleven tackles, two tackles for loss, one pass defended on
- 16:13Speaker 1: fourth down. I saw this guy was it a screen.
- 16:16Speaker 1: I think we saw him sniff out, dipped and ripped
- 16:19Speaker 1: under the tackle, got skinny, got into the backfield. Every week,
- 16:23Speaker 1: I kind of see him getting more comfortable and make
- 16:25Speaker 1: it a play confidently that he wasn't making a few
- 16:28Speaker 1: weeks back. I love where this guy's going. His maturation
- 16:32Speaker 1: is unbelievable. I think that if you're getting we're getting
- 16:34Speaker 1: to the point where when we watched Jordan Brooks's film,
- 16:37Speaker 1: when we're giving critiques, it's nitpicky, right, It's not the
- 16:40Speaker 1: same thing as a rookie. You're picking little mistakes like
- 16:42Speaker 1: on the Cooper Cup touchdown. I believe he Carols talked
- 16:45Speaker 1: about it with Matt House back this morning that you know,
- 16:48Speaker 1: three receivers trips to the left and back motions to
- 16:51Speaker 1: the left. Now there's four threats on that side of
- 16:54Speaker 1: week side. Linebackers got a bump over make it a
- 16:56Speaker 1: tougher throw for Matthew Stafford Cooper Cup. But I'm we're
- 16:59Speaker 1: just nip picking at this point because Joran Brooks playing
- 17:01Speaker 1: great football. Another guy in the defense is playing well.
- 17:04Speaker 1: Quandre Diggs seven tackles, one interception, one pass defended, has
- 17:08Speaker 1: now tied a career high with five interceptions, which he
- 17:11Speaker 1: set last year thirteen interceptions in thirty six games with
- 17:14Speaker 1: the Seahawks, and his ten interceptions over the last two
- 17:17Speaker 1: seasons tied him with Justin Simmons for the most of
- 17:20Speaker 1: any safety. He's one of five players with ten plus
- 17:23Speaker 1: interceptions in that span. So Quandre Digg man, he's already
- 17:27Speaker 1: gonna go to the Pro Bowl. He should be an
- 17:28Speaker 1: All Pro because he's been consistent all season long. Loves
- 17:32Speaker 1: picking off his buddy Matthew Stafford. So I love to
- 17:34Speaker 1: see Quandre Diggs balling out. Get that man in All
- 17:36Speaker 1: Pro vote. Please get Digs a vote, and he steps
- 17:39Speaker 1: up to the podium and keeps the rails what he
- 17:41Speaker 1: has to do. After the game one hundred, Carlos Dunlave
- 17:44Speaker 1: had himself a day. Four tackles, three sex, three QB hits,
- 17:47Speaker 1: three tackles for Lass. He's the first Seahawk with three
- 17:50Speaker 1: sex at a game since twenty fifteen, and that was
- 17:52Speaker 1: Michael Bennett. Big Ray made a great point. He goes, look,
- 17:56Speaker 1: maybe it's better that they're doing this load management thing
- 17:59Speaker 1: with Carlos the lamp. He is in his mid thirties,
- 18:02Speaker 1: been in the league for a while. Maybe him not
- 18:05Speaker 1: getting all these snaps as allowed him to play at
- 18:07Speaker 1: a high level late. But I would still like to
- 18:10Speaker 1: see him a bit more. Carlos dunlab also happed on
- 18:13Speaker 1: a nice sweater after the game. Right things nice and interesting? Yeah, No,
- 18:17Speaker 1: I would love to see more of Carlos dunlap I mean,
- 18:19Speaker 1: anytime you get three sacks, I don't care if it's
- 18:20Speaker 1: against a backup tackle. One of them was against Witworth,
- 18:23Speaker 1: so it doesn't matter. I love to see our guy
- 18:25Speaker 1: Carlos balling out. Another playmaker, Rashime Green five tackles, one sack,
- 18:29Speaker 1: one TfL, one QB hit, two pass defended, and I
- 18:33Speaker 1: just love Rahim. He's playing with the confidence and consistency.
- 18:36Speaker 1: You can even hear in his postgame interviews. He just
- 18:39Speaker 1: feels more comfortable out there. You know. This fourth year
- 18:41Speaker 1: in the league, and he might not have the crazy
- 18:43Speaker 1: sack numbers ten fifteen numbers like that, but he's always
- 18:46Speaker 1: effective in every single game. He's doing exactly what the
- 18:48Speaker 1: team is asking him to do. So I love to
- 18:50Speaker 1: see the young kid balling out. Sean Green Callie stand up.
- 18:55Speaker 1: Was it Sarah high school? Man? I was my last
- 18:57Speaker 1: high school game. They knocked us out the playoffs, so
- 19:00Speaker 1: nice to see Rashim do a staying okay. Receiver round up.
- 19:03Speaker 1: Jerald Abbott had four catches on four targets for sixty yards.
- 19:06Speaker 1: Deca had twelve targets but only six catches for fifty
- 19:09Speaker 1: two yards. Along of twelve, Freddy Swain had one big
- 19:12Speaker 1: catch for twenty five yards. It was on the drive
- 19:15Speaker 1: that Hawks came out come about at halftime in and
- 19:18Speaker 1: got it done with a score. DJ Dallas had three
- 19:20Speaker 1: for eleven, were Shot Penny two for five, will dis
- 19:23Speaker 1: League one for three. Overall, this group has seventeen catches
- 19:26Speaker 1: four one hundred and fifty six yards. Let's go into
- 19:30Speaker 1: the coach's corner and breakdown some film. Absolutely bomb. We
- 19:33Speaker 1: mentioned Quandre Diggs how good he has been this season. Well,
- 19:36Speaker 1: Quandre Diggs picked off his former teammate Matthew Stafford for
- 19:39Speaker 1: the second time this season on first and ten from
- 19:41Speaker 1: the Seattle thirty two in the second quarter. First and
- 19:45Speaker 1: ten from the Seahawks thirty throw down Fields intercepted. It
- 19:47Speaker 1: states he's out across the ten fifteen twenty turns up
- 19:50Speaker 1: field thirty, gets hit and dropped at about the thirty
- 19:52Speaker 1: five by Edwards, one of the offensive linemen. Stafford threw
- 19:56Speaker 1: that ball toward the middle of the field and Diggs
- 19:58Speaker 1: just came into the line sight had snatched it out
- 20:01Speaker 1: of the air. Not a lot here, nas, and I
- 20:04Speaker 1: think it was a horrible throw by Matthew Stafford. Obviously,
- 20:08Speaker 1: the Hawks are in cover three because that is what
- 20:10Speaker 1: they love to do. You got. I believe that's Bless
- 20:13Speaker 1: Austin running with the go route and Quandre Diggs is
- 20:16Speaker 1: reading Matthew Stafford's eyes and staying on top. On the
- 20:19Speaker 1: other side, there's not much there. They're running to get
- 20:20Speaker 1: hitch and I believe another scene it looks like or
- 20:23Speaker 1: maybe a deep out as hard to see, but this
- 20:25Speaker 1: is just Diggs staying on top, keeping everything in front,
- 20:29Speaker 1: reading the quarterback's eyes, and breaking on the full ball.
- 20:31Speaker 1: Horrible throw by Matthew Stafford. But if Diggs isn't where
- 20:35Speaker 1: he's supposed to be and reading his keys, he doesn't
- 20:38Speaker 1: make this play. Yeah, no question about it. I think
- 20:39Speaker 1: you're spot on. This is Matthew Stafford nine times I
- 20:42Speaker 1: attend is not making poor throw. This poor it's short
- 20:45Speaker 1: miscommunication with the receiver not looking back. I don't even
- 20:49Speaker 1: I think Bless Austin he hasn't turned his head the
- 20:51Speaker 1: corner on that play. But even if he does, I
- 20:53Speaker 1: think that ball hits him in the back. But think
- 20:55Speaker 1: about Quandre Diggs. A nice underrated part about this play
- 20:57Speaker 1: is he just he's playing that center field, but he's lurking, right.
- 21:01Speaker 1: They talked about it on the broadcast. He's playing center field,
- 21:03Speaker 1: but he almost goats Matthew Stafford into that because he
- 21:06Speaker 1: knows he can break downhill. He's reading the formation. He
- 21:08Speaker 1: sees who's on that side. I believe that's Cooper Cup
- 21:11Speaker 1: and he knows Hey I'm gonna play deep, but I'm
- 21:14Speaker 1: favoring that side already. I realize I have no threats
- 21:17Speaker 1: on my left. Defends his left, so we can got
- 21:20Speaker 1: to shade over. But he can wait because outbreaking route
- 21:22Speaker 1: is covered three. So he knows he has corner on
- 21:25Speaker 1: that deep outbreaking route, whether it's a fade or anything
- 21:27Speaker 1: like that. So he kind of goes him into a
- 21:29Speaker 1: stay play center field and waste the last second and
- 21:31Speaker 1: the second that ball is in the air, he comes
- 21:33Speaker 1: downhill incredibly fast. And that's what Quandry Diggs does. Man,
- 21:36Speaker 1: whether it's a bad throw or not, if you're not
- 21:38Speaker 1: in position, you don't make plays. And Quandrey Digg has
- 21:40Speaker 1: been one percent consistent all year long. That's we have
- 21:43Speaker 1: five interceptions this year or ten and the last two seasons.
- 21:45Speaker 1: One of the four people in the league to do that.
- 21:47Speaker 1: So love to see Quandrey Diggs being consistent and doing
- 21:50Speaker 1: everything he can to make sure he's an All Pro
- 21:52Speaker 1: in twenty twenty one. Biggs one of my favorite players
- 21:56Speaker 1: on this team. Two weeks in a row, wee get
- 21:59Speaker 1: into Victor formation, but that's not going to happen today, Nas,
- 22:04Speaker 1: what is it? The clock just ran out goodness a
- 22:11Speaker 1: knee taking fire Huntley. They're just gonna let the clock
- 22:13Speaker 1: wind down, but you're not even gonna bother taking that
- 22:16Speaker 1: last time out. Good effort by the Seahawks defense just
- 22:22Speaker 1: wasn't enough against a great Ramps team who had a
- 22:25Speaker 1: couple of days to get some guys back. The Hawks
- 22:27Speaker 1: will lose a couple of guys. All about matchups in
- 22:29Speaker 1: this league, and the Ramps to advantage of a good
- 22:32Speaker 1: matchup for them. For the Seahawks, it's the same issues
- 22:34Speaker 1: that heard them all season. You get fifty three plays,
- 22:37Speaker 1: you'll lose the time of possession, you're not great on
- 22:39Speaker 1: third downs. You only you score less than twenty points
- 22:42Speaker 1: for the seven time this season. It's just the same
- 22:45Speaker 1: stuff happening in these losses. When they win ball games,
- 22:48Speaker 1: a lot of this stuff is taken care of. When
- 22:50Speaker 1: you lose ball games, these stats re emerge and show
- 22:53Speaker 1: their ugly face again. Yeah, absolutely hate to see it,
- 22:56Speaker 1: because you're right. It has played the Seahawks all season long.
- 22:58Speaker 1: And this is crazy, man. This is the first losing
- 23:00Speaker 1: season for Russell Wilson since his sophomore season at NC State.
- 23:04Speaker 1: Got to go back to two thousand and nine, bump.
- 23:06Speaker 1: I was finishing up my senior year of high school.
- 23:09Speaker 1: You were still thinking about playing in the league at
- 23:11Speaker 1: that point, So it's been a minute. The Seahawks also
- 23:14Speaker 1: have their first losing seasons in twenty eleven, so it's
- 23:17Speaker 1: it's been a long time coming. And you know, the
- 23:20Speaker 1: Seahawks unfortunately giving everything. We just talked about their O
- 23:23Speaker 1: and eight this season when tied or trailing at any
- 23:25Speaker 1: point in the fourth quarter, very opposite of what we're
- 23:27Speaker 1: used to under Pete Carroll and Russell Wilson. Only the
- 23:30Speaker 1: Texans and Panthers have a worse record in those situations.
- 23:33Speaker 1: So it's tough, man. The Seahawks just couldn't get out
- 23:35Speaker 1: of their own way and unfortunately lose a tough battle
- 23:37Speaker 1: to the Rams on defense once again, man, they played
- 23:41Speaker 1: all right. They held the Rams of twenty points they've
- 23:42Speaker 1: been averaging, giving up twenty point two, so that's right
- 23:45Speaker 1: where they're supposed to be. They intercepted Matthew Stafford, he
- 23:48Speaker 1: was sacked four times, and it just wasn't enough. Now,
- 23:51Speaker 1: the Hawks aren't mathematically eliminated from the playoffs, but we've
- 23:57Speaker 1: been around the game long enough it's going to take
- 23:59Speaker 1: a lot to happen for these guys to sneak him
- 24:02Speaker 1: this thing. But three games left, they still got to play. Yeah,
- 24:07Speaker 1: no question about it. These guys got a lot of
- 24:08Speaker 1: pride in that locker room. As you can see every
- 24:10Speaker 1: single week they fight till the very end, very last whistle.
- 24:13Speaker 1: They play incredibly hard. Three games to finish out in
- 24:15Speaker 1: a high note and just kind of figure out what
- 24:17Speaker 1: the Seahawks have at the end of this season. A
- 24:19Speaker 1: lot of opportunities for young guys to prove himself and
- 24:21Speaker 1: see what the Seahawks have going in the next season.
- 24:23Speaker 1: But season's out over three weeks. Got to find a
- 24:25Speaker 1: way to go one and out. I go one to know.
- 24:28Speaker 1: You got the Chicago Bears coming into town the day
- 24:30Speaker 1: after Christmas. Let's see if we can bring some magic
- 24:33Speaker 1: to this football team to end the season. Man, it's
- 24:35Speaker 1: been tough. The Seahawks fall to the Rams twenty to
- 24:37Speaker 1: ten in La. I am Michael Bumpets, he is Nats Choby.
- 24:41Speaker 1: Thanks for hanging out with us. We'll talk to you soon.
