Transcript
- 0:00Hello everyone and welcome to the random Heathen ramblings
- 0:03podcast, where we discuss all sorts of things Germanic,
- 0:06Heathen re related. My name is Jessie.
- 0:09I am your host. Let's get into it.
- 0:32Hello everybody. Welcome back to this week's
- 0:36episode of the random Heathen ramblings podcast.
- 0:38Thank you so much for coming back again to hear part, 2 of A
- 0:45part 1 and part, 2 miniseries, I guess you could say.
- 0:48But it's, it's kind of coming off of last week's episode.
- 0:51So if you missed last week's episode, you can find it right
- 0:56up here. Actually up here on your screen.
- 1:00If you're watching this on YouTube but I will also be
- 1:03linking it in the podcast show notes.
- 1:06For all you folks that are just listening and you need a point
- 1:09of reference to know What I'm talking about.
- 1:12But last week's podcast, we kind of started on this trend of as
- 1:17it were of reading subscriber and follower comments on topics
- 1:22to discuss during the episode. And you know this this last
- 1:27week's episode was about what do practicing heathens do and some
- 1:34of the other follow-up questions that kind of, you know, came
- 1:36along with it there. And as I mentioned in last
- 1:39week's episode, you No, I think that a topic like this would
- 1:44best be suited to have multiple voices heard and that's what we
- 1:48have going on today. I've got several guests about to
- 1:51join us. Some of whom I believe you
- 1:54already know from my content and some of whom you may know from
- 1:58outside of the podcast but we going to have or we're going to
- 2:03have Cliff Cliff Burton and Patrick Walsh who has been on
- 2:08the podcast and number of times they are both.
- 2:11Kind of teammates when it comes to running the high loan
- 2:16spiritual Community, Facebook group, link for that's going to
- 2:22be down in the description and in the show notes as well in
- 2:25case you haven't checked it out yet and you want to know what
- 2:28I'm talking about, but they got, you know, other moderators that
- 2:32post content there all the time, but Patrick kind of found it in
- 2:35Cliff has been right there with them to do like live streams and
- 2:39stuff during during the week. Weak.
- 2:41And so, yeah, it's been, it's been fun to kind of watch their
- 2:46platform grow, and become interactive and stuff over time.
- 2:51And in addition to those two gentlemen, we are going to have
- 2:54my dear friend. My long-distance brother from
- 2:57another mother, mr. Papa Olufsen.
- 3:00Who you all know from java, tyr Workshop, he's also co-host of
- 3:05talking with heathens over at an inner demon media.
- 3:08I will be linking stuff down in the description and show notes.
- 3:11Guys to check them out too. But he is on a weekly stream on
- 3:17YouTube and Facebook. And I don't know where else but
- 3:20every I think it's Wednesday night, they stream and you can
- 3:24follow him during those broadcasts over there because he
- 3:27helps co-host that show called talking with heathens.
- 3:30But anyway, that's what we're going to be talking.
- 3:33We're going to be following up today with those three guys.
- 3:35The four of us are going to be sitting here talking today about
- 3:39what do practicing heathens doing some some of the other.
- 3:41Other follow-up questions or topics that kind of go along
- 3:45with that stuff. Since I, again, I feel like
- 3:47there's more that can be discussed and talked about, with
- 3:51more people. So, I'm very excited to have
- 3:53these guys on the show here this week and I hope you guys are
- 3:56excited to, you know, listen to what they have to say.
- 3:59And maybe learn some things with what's, what's, what it's all
- 4:02about. You know what I mean?
- 4:04So, I don't know. I guess without further Ado.
- 4:08Let's go ahead and welcome the guys into the show.
- 4:12Yeah. We're gonna I'm gonna hold.
- 4:15Yeah, go ahead and get this party started.
- 4:17And this this party with this party, we've got several friends
- 4:22of mine and a newcomer. So welcome to the show.
- 4:26We got Cliff, we got Patrick and we've got Papa.
- 4:29I'm going to let each of them, kind of introduce themselves for
- 4:32all of the new listeners and people who maybe aren't aware of
- 4:36who they are. But yeah.
- 4:37So Cliff, would you mind just letting the people know who you
- 4:40are? And I'm sure sure.
- 4:43Hi, guys, I'm Cliff. I've been a Norse Pagan for
- 4:47roughly 34 years. I've been a pagan.
- 4:50Most of my life. I was raised in.
- 4:57Like a Jehovah's Witness background actually which kind
- 5:00of LED my grandma to teach me things vice versa, how
- 5:05Christianity kind of works. So that also kind of let me in a
- 5:09lot of pig and ideologies, Christianity carries and I think
- 5:14that's kind of helped me from my path.
- 5:15But I've been doing wives with Patrick on his page is high
- 5:21long, spiritual mental, and spiritual page for a while.
- 5:29Yeah, that's cool. Thanks for coming on the show,
- 5:31man. I know it was like a last minute
- 5:33thing for for us to get a few people rounded up and really
- 5:36appreciate you being available. No problem, man.
- 5:39Sometimes cool that you're going to you, buddy.
- 5:44Hey, it's me again. It's a me.
- 5:48Yeah, very happy to be here again.
- 5:50And as close as mentions, he's a very crucial part of my high
- 5:55long spiritual motion. All support group.
- 5:58I gotta think of a better name because that rolls off the
- 6:01tongue a little bit better but what he did Miss nose became
- 6:06fast friends. We think we both join the Hilux
- 6:10spiritual group around the same time, back in 2020.
- 6:14And we start getting to know each other very well and then
- 6:19very long story short, we ended up decide to meet up with each
- 6:24other at his place and we've done it three times, and we'll
- 6:27be doing Very soon shortly here. But I consider him brother and,
- 6:33you know, very amazing person to have my life and without him,
- 6:39you know, a lot of what I do would be quite that possible.
- 6:43Yeah. Yeah.
- 6:44Happy to be part of this stream here.
- 6:46Awesome. Yeah, it's great to have you
- 6:48back. You know, we've always had a
- 6:50good time. I feel and in past episodes and
- 6:52now we've got an added element here, you know, to enhance the
- 6:56dynamic. So Absolutely looking forward to
- 6:59what we get to talking about today.
- 7:00And then next, but certainly not least is Papa Olufsen and papa,
- 7:06I will let you introduce yourself to everybody.
- 7:11It's an honor to be back on episode of random Heathen
- 7:16ramblings on Papa. All of a sudden you guys may
- 7:19know me from. If you all of us here Workshop
- 7:21or if you all the to Mountain, Spirit, Shamanism, I practice
- 7:26Appalachian. Animism sort of a flavor or
- 7:29variety from the Blue Ridge. Mountains of North Carolina.
- 7:35Beautiful. Yep.
- 7:36And you know everybody's affiliations, you know your your
- 7:40site's your shops, your groups, everybody.
- 7:43Check out in the description or the show notes.
- 7:45However, or wherever it is, where you're capturing this be
- 7:49sure to check out, you know, cliff and Patricks the Highland
- 7:52group. And of course, check out all of
- 7:55the amazing things that Papa releases through villalba tier
- 8:00Workshop. He's got, you know, drums and
- 8:03other sorts of accoutrements. For various spiritual practices.
- 8:08I guess, right? You know what?
- 8:10Heathens to ya about tonight. Yeah, you know, you didn't do.
- 8:15Yeah, what a, what an awesome Segway.
- 8:20We have a, we had a, you know, last week's episode at the time
- 8:24of this recording, actually, we're we're just a day we're 24
- 8:28hours in to the release of part 1 of what do practicing heathens
- 8:33do and you. I picked that topic or pick that
- 8:36comment from Russell last week kind of randomly, you know, just
- 8:41in in this, in the spirit of this podcast, keeping it random
- 8:46and I found myself just kind of going.
- 8:50What can I really talk about just myself about this?
- 8:52Because it's just one person's perspective or one person's.
- 8:57You know, what do heathens do. And I may be what he even do not
- 9:00heathens. Yeah.
- 9:01What is this Heathen do? What is that?
- 9:03Yeah. Yeah exactly.
- 9:05And I you know I'm even mentioned in that episode about
- 9:08how you know if you get more people in a room you know we
- 9:12have four people in a virtual room right now you get for folks
- 9:16together talking about something and you ask them the same
- 9:19question. Each of them are probably going
- 9:21to provide different answers You know, and I would guarantee we
- 9:25do a daily like probably not necessarily daily but least a
- 9:28weekly saying that's completely different from each other.
- 9:33What I found this neat about me and Patrick when we get together
- 9:36Professor can I should say we may keep it.
- 9:40This is a random podcast but get your grammar right man.
- 9:42I'm just yeah I know right? He has different ways that he
- 10:04does. So we're solitary practitioners
- 10:06basically, we don't have a Frisk.
- 10:08We don't have Kindred that we go and do things with on a regular
- 10:12basis. So we're what we've learned
- 10:16during our past, you know, if I may speak for both of us a
- 10:20discount, no, absolutely are good.
- 10:22But when we get together, we have things that mesh.
- 10:26They just automatically mesh because of the core belief
- 10:29system. So when we get together, we can
- 10:31have it It's interesting because he brings things that I don't
- 10:36know and I bring things to he don't know together and we have
- 10:41we basically we usually do it like as a weekend thing and
- 10:46we'll try to do it on blocks and we've had really good success,
- 10:51this Patrick and myself, doing things like that.
- 10:54And, you know, of course, I have a fairly big family and my wife
- 10:58sometimes gets involved and, you know, a couple of Live around me
- 11:03that happened to be in the be here at the time but they're not
- 11:08necessarily Norse Pagan or really anything, but I think
- 11:14that's kind of neat how people can get together and with the,
- 11:18with the core ideology of what being a heathen is.
- 11:22And then having the little things that kind of Branch off
- 11:24that and how they just kind of blend together.
- 11:29That's one of the most amazing things that I found out about
- 11:33About the whole just the ideology.
- 11:36Either me. So let's let's let's start off
- 11:41with that then because you know, you mentioned, you know, core
- 11:44beliefs or core ideologies, right?
- 11:46A common ground, I guess is another way that we could put it
- 11:50and what would you say, our core ideologies or fundamentals of
- 11:58being a Norse Pagan or season or whatever other name you want to
- 12:02put to it? Well, I guess boss is obviously
- 12:08something you know that that we all kind of observe blots and
- 12:13stumble and I kind of Roberts ass was like a really big
- 12:21influence to me because early on when I was kind of just China,
- 12:27just trying to. Scoop up.
- 12:30Anything I could from any Source off the internet that I could,
- 12:34when I was, when I decided that this is what I wanted to do.
- 12:39And like I said, it's really been in the last, like, five
- 12:42years, I've been for 20 years or so.
- 12:44I've kind of known some stuff about the rooms I've seen things
- 12:48and felt things and different ways to kind of sent me on this
- 12:51path. The spirit is, guiding me, I
- 12:54guess if you will, but Robert. When I found Robert sasa's
- 13:00works. In Reading those that kind of
- 13:06gives you a basic breakdown of how to do these things.
- 13:11So, with that, I found that Patrick and other friends of
- 13:17blind, do things basically the same way, like, of course,
- 13:26Other. I don't want to say other
- 13:27religions but other other Pagan paths have similar rituals and
- 13:32similar ideologies about the quarterly.
- 13:35Animism I suppose you could call is this like that's a it's the
- 13:40broad umbrella term? Yeah, yeah, sort of.
- 13:46So you think that, that some of the core parts of heathen re
- 13:51have animism that in place, right?
- 13:54There's there's a absolutely our connections spiritism probably
- 13:57the main vein. Like the Taproot of heathen re
- 14:01is animism itself, is almost fundamental to just about any
- 14:05faith or belief because any faith or belief is going to
- 14:08incorporate a belief, in a spirit, or an idea of spirit.
- 14:14Sure, sure that's like specially what the Lesser acknowledge, at
- 14:19least in the mainstream faces, our core focuses on, you know,
- 14:24our planet our Earth, you know, the land that we reside in and
- 14:29you know that I think that's a really beautiful set of boys
- 14:33policy. You know, the creatures to, you
- 14:35know, submits not really focus on that much and now mainstream
- 14:39faiths. So you got, you know, Cliff you
- 14:46mentioned you know bloat and sambal as being like very common
- 14:50like that's that's the religious side of things.
- 14:52At least that's how I like to look at it is the religious side
- 14:55of it how, you know, when you choose to interact or have
- 15:01dealings with the sacred, the gods and and whatever, you know,
- 15:08representation of those those figures that you have, you know,
- 15:11four I think From at least what we know of historical heathens.
- 15:17And just as a quick side note, you were talking about Roberts
- 15:20ass. I've had him on this podcast
- 15:22before and I've learned a lot from him too.
- 15:25And his his online group is else to do Saxon Heathen re.
- 15:30And so, one thing to always remember, right?
- 15:31Is when people are sharing that information and that knowledge
- 15:34of where it's coming from or the angle that it's being approached
- 15:38from it's a very academic, very scholarly, you know, what does
- 15:42the Historic Source have to say about X Y or Z, you know.
- 15:48And not that, that's not, everybody's cup of tea, you know
- 15:52what I mean? Like not everybody feels like
- 15:55that's the approach that they want to take.
- 15:57Maybe they want to be a bit more loose with with things and
- 16:00they're not. So historically focused on it.
- 16:03That's okay. That's part of my struggle.
- 16:05That's been part of my struggle because I want I wanted to do
- 16:08things. I want to do things in a
- 16:12historical manner, where okay, these are what our ancestors
- 16:15have always done. These things are whatever our
- 16:18ancestors have always done kind of approach to it, but at the
- 16:22same time, it's really hard for me to go get nine, goats and 9,
- 16:27cow and 9 pigs, and kill them all.
- 16:30My backyard, it's not practical for the it's not practical terms
- 16:35of K. I mean, did that out of
- 16:37necessity? That was it was the way of life
- 16:39that was how they They fed their families.
- 16:41But now we have grocery stores and sure they had markets and
- 16:45things back then, but almost every, every home was a working
- 16:50home or a Farmstead of sorts there.
- 16:54So I guess my way around, that is when we involve Feast with
- 17:00that, you know, when we have cooked a great meal for
- 17:04everyone, I will, I will go get either side of beef or cited for
- 17:09whatever. And when I'm preparing it, I'll
- 17:11drain the blood off of that and I will actually use blood in my
- 17:14blocks. I think about 24 to enough.
- 17:19Sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt or anything they're
- 17:22taking up these Go. Like, we coorporate into our up
- 17:26orb, lots of celebrations that we've had together, you know, he
- 17:29rounds up the best things that he can manage to, you know, make
- 17:33it historically accurate as possible.
- 17:35But within reason, you know, I've always admired that about
- 17:39the practice that we share as far as celebrations go.
- 17:41Anyway, back to you, I mean, I don't know Old Norse.
- 17:45So I can't, I can't give prayer and Old Norse.
- 17:50I'm not a I'm not a speechwriter.
- 17:52I'm not really good at coming up with good fresh.
- 17:54There's, you know, Patrick actually steps in with that,
- 17:57he's really good at that. We're not like, like if you
- 18:00passed Patrick dude, I'm he will come off with some stuff that's
- 18:03like, damn, you just, you just made is the thing, you know.
- 18:08But, you know it and like I said, you know, I'm still young
- 18:13in this. I've not been doing this for a
- 18:15long time, age-wise on 40, but I'm young as Pagan young is a
- 18:21Norse Pagan anyway, he will so I don't, I don't know, you know, I
- 18:29look up to guys like you and like pop Olsen and there's
- 18:32another friend of mine Thor, who does some YouTube channels I
- 18:40just drew a blank on his page, but I'll come on.
- 18:45Let's just see if Papa you both knows.
- 18:47Well that you two are very, you know, important guides and
- 18:52teachers. I know the term teacher could be
- 18:55very relative but, um, Inspirations above all three of,
- 18:59you could include it, you know. And as saw as a solitary
- 19:04practitioner, you know, it's very helpful and Parrot is
- 19:09frankly to have people like you 28 the in this path, you know,
- 19:14while I celebrate by myself, the majority of the time and often
- 19:19those times Jesse, I know you can know this you know that I'll
- 19:22send you like a tube messages or you know.
- 19:24Yeah. Just you know explaining that
- 19:27you know that reciprocation that thinks that connection.
- 19:31This been established over the years of you know follow you
- 19:34guys. You know Yeah, we've I think a
- 19:38lot of us have. Yeah, go ahead.
- 19:41Papa's are listening that white. It's real, it's organic.
- 19:44It's your connection to your practice.
- 19:47It's your connection to your ancestors or the deities.
- 19:52If it's not your own, it's more or less, just mimicking someone
- 19:56else's and therefore what's the point if you're not making that
- 20:01real connection there. So practice with purpose, Is
- 20:07very important to me. I think that's the very
- 20:12excellent point, something that I think that I'm saying, my
- 20:15opinion, obviously, but I think that's a huge advantage that we
- 20:18hold in our practice and in our faith based analysis.
- 20:23That exception. Sorry, I just drew a huge
- 20:26Braveheart just now. Well, what I thought, no, it's
- 20:31by, sorry, I go ahead, I'll come back at it.
- 20:35When I so what I thought was neat about it was is is Patrick
- 20:39sent me. He Jesse's way a long time ago
- 20:42and I kind of blew it off. I was following a couple other
- 20:45YouTubers at the time and quickly realized that they're
- 20:48full of shit, just from personal experiences that I've had with,
- 20:54with the, with this putt, with my pain, they instantly became
- 20:59bullshit. So I stopped falling and and I
- 21:02got bored one day and was like, well shit, Patrick's been trying
- 21:04to get me. Listen this guy, Jesse midgard,
- 21:07whatever and how it is, I don't know.
- 21:10So I checked him out and I watch the full episode and I was like,
- 21:15this is exactly what it is, is rambling Heathen and it makes
- 21:20sense. So I started following, I would
- 21:22start a religiously watching Jesse.
- 21:24After this point like every Tuesday or every every yeah
- 21:29every Thursday I'm listening. No in my earphones every day.
- 21:37But that's how I found out about Papa wolves and over here was
- 21:44because I saw him on an episode of random, he then ran wings.
- 21:47And so then I start checking out his film to your Workshop while
- 21:50Jesse plugging it and I'm like holy shit.
- 21:53Like okay, I think I'm starting to find my people now because
- 21:57I've been making stuff like don't get me wrong, Papa's skill
- 22:02set is Out of my room Specialists are kind of stuff,
- 22:08you know, I do really well with some of the stuff that I make,
- 22:11but I like to make stuff out of Bones.
- 22:13I like to make stuff out of leather and I'm checking out pop
- 22:17the stuff and I'm like, oh man, I'm looking at my shit.
- 22:20I'm like, fuck, though, that scrap pile, I'll tear that apart
- 22:23and make something else out of that later.
- 22:25He's damp honest, it's neat. When you start finding your
- 22:29people, I think it's neat when you see people who are doing
- 22:34things and It's like, you know, I took some inspiration from
- 22:37some of Papa's works. I try not to steal anybody's
- 22:42artistic Visions because to me that's wrong, but I thought it
- 22:50was neat. Some, the comparisons in the
- 22:51ideas that we have about bone art and making instruments and
- 22:57stuff from from nature. I thought it was really cool.
- 23:03Yeah. You you touched on something
- 23:05that I thought was a key thing to hone in on was finding your
- 23:10people. And I've talked a lot with
- 23:14others and also, just in this podcast, but how, where the
- 23:21heart of heathen re is in the Hearth and the Heart of heathen
- 23:24re is with your people. It's with Community, it's
- 23:28building fellowship and building friendships which become like
- 23:34extensions of your family, you know, people who you can rely on
- 23:38and and how that that takes Eating with one another and as
- 23:43far as like we talked about maybe some core fundamental
- 23:46parts of dramatic Keith and Marie or Norse paganism.
- 23:51I feel like that's one of the one of the real strong
- 23:54components that anybody here would probably agree with is
- 23:58that, you know, teaming up with people.
- 24:01Finding your community finding your extension of your home.
- 24:07I could definitely help. Sorry, I didn't mean it and
- 24:09reject their, I couldn't agree. More I finally retained by
- 24:14thought, and I'll struggle with badly there for a second there
- 24:18but, um, is based on what Papa was saying is this is making it
- 24:23our own, you know, something that's special and organic and
- 24:27natural rather than something that's been practiced for.
- 24:30Now, I'm not saying that our practice wasn't practiced
- 24:32longer, but since it's so mainstream, so calm is so
- 24:36repetitive, it loses its luster and I think it's beautiful that
- 24:41we have so many the various ways of practicing something.
- 24:45Because I remember Jesse, your first video was how to perform a
- 24:49basic Heathen ritual and I'll tell you what, I watched a lot
- 24:53of videos on how to find the right, one of my, this guy sis
- 24:57for the likes. This guy's is clowning this guy,
- 25:00it just wasn't my energy but I eventually found it and I think
- 25:04it's really cool that, you know upon meeting you came across
- 25:09napkin patry, another great guy. Then ultimately, you know, Papa
- 25:13old CERN, you know, but that's just really cool was this.
- 25:17We offer so many different. You know, we contribute our own,
- 25:22you know by its style to our practice and learn something and
- 25:26maybe incorporate it or to something to, you know, look
- 25:30back on that, you know, maybe I'll incorporate it, maybe not,
- 25:33but it's something to appreciate, you know, it may be
- 25:36contrary to your belief is something to, you know, Ponder
- 25:39on and give appreciation. Where we are in the world right
- 25:47now. We're all.
- 25:48So connected, we're connected through the internet, through
- 25:51social media, messenger services, phone calls, and
- 25:57things that are above and beyond what you would have seen in the
- 26:01year, 500 or 250. So we've got this great, great
- 26:08connection and along with it. It's almost just kind of folded
- 26:12in that if we all have this, Connection.
- 26:15We should all be doing the same things and that's okay on a
- 26:20foundation that practice is going to be different and it
- 26:24should be different if we're talking about Norse paganism.
- 26:27Let's look at those the Nordic countries you've got Norway
- 26:30Denmark, Sweden, Finland and throw in Iceland after it was
- 26:35settled, think about the size of that, on the map geographically
- 26:40and then fold that over and put it on top of where we are right
- 26:44now. In the United States.
- 26:46Think about the span, my life here is not even close to the
- 26:51mic that somebody has living in Florida or somebody in New York,
- 26:55or you guys out there in the Midwest.
- 26:59Our lives are going to be very, very different.
- 27:01Our surroundings are different. We might have that Foundation,
- 27:04those fundamental abilities, those ideologies, the same
- 27:08Pantheon but our practice is going to be very, very
- 27:10different. And I'm sorry.
- 27:19People thought at the same time, she's I was actually watching a
- 27:27YouTube video today with my with my friend Thor honours, magic
- 27:30and beliefs and I know you're talking about.
- 27:34He did a short with someone named Taryn kempe.
- 27:42He has a middle name in their own.
- 27:44I don't quite remember what it was, but I thought it was neat
- 27:46because her last name is really close to mine, but that's not
- 27:48what. Actually, attract me to listen
- 27:50to the entire, you know, almost our YouTube video.
- 27:56But she touched on something like that.
- 27:58Papa, it was like her, her lineage comes from Scandinavia,
- 28:06but it's about where, where you kind of grow at like you might
- 28:11be bored. Born with the spirit in you of
- 28:14that type of religion. And when you pick up on that and
- 28:17you begin to act on it, you kind of tend to gravitate towards
- 28:22your surroundings. Like the Sami people, I guess
- 28:26she was like, Finnish and Swedish, and they kind of go
- 28:31hand in hand. But she made the point that the
- 28:37Sami people use drums primarily it was as I So, their spiritual
- 28:44practice and she doesn't necessarily use drums, but she's
- 28:47in western Florida. She has two giant alligator
- 28:50bones. That's how she kind of does her
- 28:53her medicine. Her trance state that she gets
- 28:56into. She uses alligator bones, that
- 28:57She Bangs together, huh? So that kind of goes into, you
- 29:02know, like your surroundings where you're at, where you,
- 29:05where you kind of grow up out of where you grows, even a door
- 29:07begging them. Yeah, your practice is going to
- 29:10be different. It would have been the same way
- 29:12for our ancestors. Like I said, if we go back to
- 29:13the year, 500, 250, whatever you walk into a village.
- 29:17If they're on the seaside they're going to venerate the
- 29:20god of the sea. The ocean.
- 29:22They're going to have a fishing lifestyle.
- 29:24They're going to think about things like fair weather,
- 29:28strong, sailcloth With Nets. But then you go into a village
- 29:33that's into the mountains, far away.
- 29:35From the Sea Side, they're going to be more toward the hunt.
- 29:41And outlasting, the winter and things like that.
- 29:47It's going your practice is going to be different.
- 29:50Village to Village and then even still it's going to be different
- 29:55how to household in that Village.
- 29:58Yes, yeah, that's a very important thing.
- 30:01I'd like to always bring back to is because, you know, I'm like I
- 30:06liked a lot of the stuff that Al to do Roberts asses group, you
- 30:11know, going back to historical sources and and learning why.
- 30:17It was done a certain way back then.
- 30:19And then Taking inspiration from that and building it into that
- 30:21now but always keeping it in context, right?
- 30:24Knowing that it was done back then.
- 30:27For a specific reason. And again, the why the purpose
- 30:31was was there? Matter of fact, I like the
- 30:34Scandinavian countries that became Hagen in their and their
- 30:38beliefs, they they they adopted that themselves from their
- 30:42southern neighbors, the, their dramatic Continental places.
- 30:46You know what I mean? Because they migrated North into
- 30:49Scandinavia. So they brought with them, those
- 30:52those ways and then the, the Northerners were kind of
- 30:56customizing it to do. Anyone if they were Danish or
- 30:58whether they were Swedish, or they were Norwegian or an
- 31:02Icelander or, you know, it kind of it changed over time.
- 31:06And that's one thing I think that people listening and
- 31:09watching should remember is that, you know, just because you
- 31:12come into this particular path of, you know, nor see than re
- 31:15Germanic paganism, whatever, umbrella term we want to apply
- 31:18to it. There are, there are so many
- 31:20things about this, this this way.
- 31:22And we can, you know, see me can't even say it that, it's a
- 31:24universal way. But if you if you find you know
- 31:29an attraction to learning more about you know the Germanic gods
- 31:34and goddesses that Pantheon of things your your practices and
- 31:38even the practices of the people who you find a family with in a
- 31:42way are going to evolve and change over time.
- 31:45You know you're not going to do the same things in five years
- 31:47that you're doing today, you're going to remove some things.
- 31:50You're going to add some things, you're going to change some
- 31:52things around. It's constantly growing and
- 31:55evolving. With us as individuals.
- 31:57And then individuals who come together, formulate, a sort of
- 32:01body in and of itself and that body grows and changes and
- 32:06evolves and matures and learns things along the way to, right?
- 32:11Absolutely. I think the the question it's
- 32:15that we're talking on it throws a lot of people off lie, how do
- 32:19you practice as a practicing Heathen or Pagan?
- 32:25What do you do for some reason? Some way our mind always wants
- 32:31to go to, what can I give as an answer.
- 32:34So you start thinking about things like bloat, sambal
- 32:38ritual, like we had mentioned early on in the discussion.
- 32:41That is those things. Ritual that occur as an answer,
- 32:46but really your practice is your day to day, believe it or not,
- 32:51and it's always been that way. Look back at the ancestors,
- 32:54their practice was through their work.
- 32:57It was through song, it was through storytelling, it was
- 33:00through sharing meals together, that was practice and it still
- 33:03is for us. We just don't think about it
- 33:05that way. We don't consider it.
- 33:06We want to think of those. Well, what are the big things
- 33:08that make us different or set us apart?
- 33:10What do we do different? A lot of They're doing a lot of
- 33:14the same things so we are very similar in practice.
- 33:18We just might have a different meal on the table.
- 33:22Yeah. Or you know, someone who wants
- 33:26to observe a historical Heathen. Holy tide like sigur blow or
- 33:32winter nights or you'll or maybe a distinct you know in the
- 33:37springtime or something, you know.
- 33:41How old are you going to observe?
- 33:42It is going to vary from person to person tribe to tribe
- 33:47kindred's of Kindred. I mean Again, similarities
- 33:51nuances, but specifics are going to be unique to that.
- 33:57The approach that that that person or those people have
- 34:00probably want to express it. I'm sorry, thank you but
- 34:10something I've noticed a lot and I'm very happy that is, you
- 34:16know, the day-to-day practice rather than the holy tides and
- 34:21the special moments is like that's something that I
- 34:23overlooked a lot and sharing meals and Company and, you know,
- 34:28song telling you what not. It's something that's, you know,
- 34:31very overlooked and Become such common practice like simple as
- 34:34sharing a meal that I don't want to say this.
- 34:37But I well, it kind of loses this sacredness until those, you
- 34:41know, sacred days do arrive, such as, you know, our blots or
- 34:46anything else like that, you know.
- 34:50There's a stanza from the whole amount that I would like to
- 34:54throw out there. It's not on practice, but it can
- 34:57be translated to practice when we're talking about these big
- 35:01things like Bluett and some Boleyn, there's other virtual
- 35:05type things are a part of practice that we forget to do
- 35:08things. So not great things.
- 35:10Alone must want to give to another praise.
- 35:13Often is earned for little with half a loaf and a half.
- 35:16Turn bowl of one me, plenty of friends.
- 35:19It's the All things. It's the little things that we
- 35:21do. It's your day to day that make
- 35:24up your practice, not just what you went to or what, holy Todd,
- 35:28you observed, or when you held feast day, it's all those little
- 35:31things in between as well, Yeah. Well, that was that.
- 35:40Because that's that's that's what really defines us as a in
- 35:44our practices. I am terrible with reciting
- 35:48verses or stanzas like verbatim or close to it but you know,
- 35:53there's another thing in the Hall of them all about giving.
- 35:58Gifts and, and it's better to not give at all than to over
- 36:01give or something like that, right?
- 36:05Papa you might can help out close out that that, that
- 36:08particular stanza, if you have it, but it's along that vein,
- 36:11you know what's better too. To not give or to get, you know,
- 36:14give less than two over here. Mmm.
- 36:18Yeah. And so it kind of follows in
- 36:21that same topic or that same Spirit of of do it with
- 36:25sincerity, do it with purpose rather than just, you know.
- 36:30I alluded to this last week about, you know.
- 36:32Oh I let me just crack open a Red Bull and pour it out for
- 36:35Thor. Like come on, dude, like you
- 36:37give me a break. You can do better than that, you
- 36:44know, and I say that, I use that example because that was
- 36:47literally what somebody who at one point in my life told me
- 36:50that they did as a gift of Thor and I'm like use me I remember
- 36:55watching a video where you said something about that, you may
- 36:59have been may or may not have been the very first time you
- 37:01brought that up. But I remember seeing that I
- 37:04just was like you know you just facepalm like yeah.
- 37:12A penny from more than 100 from a rich man.
- 37:20And when you're doing what you have, versus giving over the top
- 37:27just because you can, you lose Like Jesse mention the word
- 37:30sincerity, it loses its meaning, it loses its value by overvalue.
- 37:42It's like, blinding. Sorry.
- 37:44Go ahead. Patrick.
- 37:47Yeah, remember when we first met?
- 37:50How what I did that? The just a little the little
- 37:53thing that I did. Geez.
- 37:56Yeah get prepared me a meal. No, no.
- 38:01Before that before that before that wonderful and just walking
- 38:08in long before that before that she's yeah, my head refresh me.
- 38:14Okay. So at one point ain't I had
- 38:17gotten into I've been in the leather work for a while.
- 38:22Oh yeah. And for probably 20 years or so
- 38:25and I would set it down for five ten years and I pick it back up
- 38:29for you know, a year or two. Well I got into making moccasins
- 38:33at one point and about the same time I ran across Tai Lung, just
- 38:39out of the blue. It popped up on my YouTube so I
- 38:44instantly became hooked on Island.
- 38:47So I started searching stuff on Facebook and I ran across this
- 38:50group ran across this gentleman right here.
- 38:55Patrick and he he would pour his heart out.
- 39:00Almost almost I couldn't fathom. You know I was like this is a
- 39:09This is a hell of a human being here.
- 39:11I want to know this guy. Yeah, being really vulnerable
- 39:14and yes, exposing the most raw parts of himself.
- 39:16Yeah, yes. That's that's that's what I was
- 39:18looking for. So I reached out to him, became
- 39:22friends with him and I'm like, I've been, I've been making
- 39:25moccasins for a little while and I want to send you a pair.
- 39:28I don't know why. I'm just compelled to make you a
- 39:31pair and send them to you to help.
- 39:32You don't know whether to help you ground, it will help you
- 39:34walk you maybe a may not do anything for you.
- 39:37I don't know, but I just felt compelled to send him a gift.
- 39:41You know, a gift of friendship. Yeah.
- 39:43And that's kind of how I started mine and Patricks relationship
- 39:47and then from there it's just went, you know, Full Blossom.
- 39:51Yeah it's went big like, the brothers, your friendship know,
- 39:56even though I don't really necessarily crapped right thing
- 39:59like that. I always tell Cliff costly my
- 40:01man. I can't do this or that but I'll
- 40:03offer, you know, my friendship and my love must support them in
- 40:07my, you know, connections more or less.
- 40:10I mean, I hate to say it. I'm going to say, you know,
- 40:13having Jesse and, you know, inevitably pop up in my corner.
- 40:17Brought them to you. So that of itself, I consider a
- 40:20gift and the right people. That's gifts, but you don't
- 40:24think that's going to say, Patrick's A Gift Giver and
- 40:27doesn't know he thinks he doesn't craft anything, but a
- 40:32lot of us have in common in terms of those foundations or
- 40:36fundamentals of practice that we don't think about that we share
- 40:40in it. The gift exchange being one,
- 40:44it's pretty across the board. It's something that many
- 40:48different varieties of paganism participate in.
- 40:53It's a great tradition. It's a great bonding exercise
- 40:57and practice for Fellowship, few of those other things that we
- 41:03might all share, in terms of what do practicing evens do and
- 41:08social veneration, whether you like your food, ours are not
- 41:12whether they were good or bad or however your relationship is
- 41:15with your family, bottom line, as you were alive today because
- 41:20they Did what they did. They've in one way or another
- 41:24brought you into this world. So you are connected to them.
- 41:28Again, whether you like it or not, and then get our connection
- 41:33with the earth and the spirits, because just the same as our
- 41:36forbearers are responsible, for our life here today, the things
- 41:40of the earth, and the plants, and the animals are responsible
- 41:43for our continuance of Life sustenance on Earth, our
- 41:48sustenance exactly. And so we see that those things.
- 41:52It's a very logical approach to faith and belief.
- 41:55We honor and we venerate those things that give us life, that's
- 41:59our ancestors, in the things that we take in to continue
- 42:03living each day. I liked how you know, Cliff you
- 42:09you talk about one of the first interactions or real you know
- 42:13one of the things that kind of sparked or started yours and
- 42:15Patrick's friendship was it started with a gift.
- 42:21A token of love, you know, a token of friendship, some sort
- 42:25of gesture, or item, whether it's a good piece of goods or
- 42:29services, whatever. And that's, you know, Maybe new
- 42:33pagans come in and say to Heathen rear are intimidated by.
- 42:37Well, what can I give to this God?
- 42:39This thing, you know, this this Spirit, you know, how do I do
- 42:42it? What do I do?
- 42:44Absolutely. You know who's in who's the one
- 42:48that's going to answer that? You know?
- 42:49Because again we could each give our own well, here's what I do,
- 42:53here's what he does, right? Here's what they do.
- 42:55Goes back to it, all its You find that yourself.
- 42:58That's that's one of the things about that.
- 43:02I've come to learn within Heathen re is, is the genuine
- 43:04the genuineness of it. The sincerity of it is is where
- 43:09your individual cultic practice is going to become stronger and
- 43:14without that individual cultic practice, you may you may as
- 43:17well just stop trying to pursue Heathen or any further because
- 43:22everybody does things so differently.
- 43:23In terms of like what we're talking about, you've got to
- 43:27have Have your own cultic practices whatever they are.
- 43:30You've got to establish that first before thinking on a
- 43:33bigger scale or moving on to the next chapter.
- 43:37I feel, you know what I mean exactly iniquity.
- 43:39Easy to get lost, especially in towards the beginning of my
- 43:43journey. It's like I was mentioning to
- 43:45Slick. There's so many different videos
- 43:47and finally find that one match, but it's important to stay true
- 43:51to yourself. And that Quest that you're
- 43:54pursuing, whether it be, you know, this, We follow the
- 43:58Heathen or Pagan, whatever term, you're comfortable with.
- 44:01But also something I often preach a lot as a no clipping,
- 44:05Jesse. You guys heard me talk about
- 44:06this flop. But what I carried from the
- 44:10start of this practice, and I will do to my last breath, is
- 44:14carrying the best of intentions and within reason, you know.
- 44:18So as far as making an offering or gift-giving, yo, you gotta I
- 44:23feel obligated to do something and exchange and I Oh that's a
- 44:28very overlooked as far as the new practitioner goes because
- 44:34you want to go above Beyond McMahon.
- 44:37I want to find the most expensive bottle of wine I can
- 44:39get or man. I want to find the most badass
- 44:42plants and you know to plant and honor and veneration of my God
- 44:48to my ancestors and the place that they went through, you know
- 44:52it's just like a woman would most people most are like going
- 44:56up each other with With things like well I think there's I
- 45:00think there's some place for that if if somebody, you know
- 45:05gives me a gift. Then the value of that gift is
- 45:09placed upon by me, you know, if someone made me an item and it
- 45:15was a handmade out and it took them 20 minutes to make it
- 45:18because they're really good at what they do and they craft out
- 45:21or an amazing item for me. I don't care that it took him,
- 45:2520 minutes. I don't even need to know that.
- 45:27That thing's value. Is way more than the time it
- 45:32took for them to do it or the material, the cost, it's the
- 45:34gesture, right? And so what I see that I'm going
- 45:36to go, oh, that thing is valuable to me at this level
- 45:40right now. I need to match or exceed that
- 45:42in exchange for that and whatever I can do, rather, it's
- 45:45a continuous, you know, effort or whether it's an item itself
- 45:49or something. Like I I find myself wanting to
- 45:52Outdo, The Giver in a way, you know, to try and match that and
- 45:57you know, I think there's some you got to be careful with it is
- 46:01again, you can get to be too vain with the idea of it's the
- 46:03material. You know that that set outweighs
- 46:07the by getting measured, I give there you go.
- 46:11There you reciprocate. You know based on the value of
- 46:14what you've received. Yeah.
- 46:17Jesse just said you place value on that gift.
- 46:20I know that sounds kind of funky but Imagine, we're all gentlemen
- 46:25here in this conversation. If someone were to gift you a
- 46:29box of feminine hygiene product, but it's not going to have a
- 46:35whole lot of value to you. It's not really something that
- 46:39that you use or that you would need.
- 46:42Yes, my wife and daughter were in need of those things.
- 46:46Well that would be a different story but if they get would be
- 46:48its intended and it would be something of Great Value to me.
- 46:54When we can always do something with something but if the gift
- 46:56is intended for you almost feel that it's a slight or an insult
- 47:01like a gyp to get something. There's the other side of that
- 47:06or can't use as a gift. So again that value and what
- 47:10you're giving, so think about it, be honest about it, be
- 47:15genuine about it and what you're offering or when you perform
- 47:21sacrifice or if you practice Twice, what it is that you're
- 47:24working with? I wanted to mention something.
- 47:29And, you know, we're talking so much about similarities and
- 47:34things that someone could Maybe point two is saying what do
- 47:39heathens do. What do practicing heathens do.
- 47:41How do they worship? We've hit so many things on the
- 47:43head with comparisons and similarities.
- 47:47I wanted to, I wanted to maybe push the envelope a little bit
- 47:51and touch on something that we probably won't necessarily all
- 47:54agree on and just kind of see where we all set on it and okay
- 47:58along the topic of dogma and and where that fits into into he
- 48:06even Isis. Because I see a lot of folks
- 48:09that have this idea or this notion that it's a free-for-all.
- 48:15You know, he then re is, is like, we were talking about,
- 48:17it's more about the, the intention and then your purpose
- 48:20behind it. All of which are are certainly
- 48:23valid and necessary components to, to being what I would
- 48:28consider. I guess, you know, a good
- 48:29Heathen writer, or someone who is in touch with their
- 48:33spirituality, and the religiosity behind it.
- 48:36But where do Guys, see where you guys sit on the content or the
- 48:40concept of some things, just have to be done a certain way
- 48:44and there is no other way about it.
- 48:47You know where you guys sit on that?
- 48:49I don't whoever wants to go first but the the dogmatic
- 48:54element where we see so much more in maybe abrahamic,
- 48:57religions or other Paula monotheistic beliefs, where it's
- 49:02a sacred law says Thou shalt not do x y z and if you do Do you're
- 49:07in big trouble? Where do you see if that if that
- 49:11fits within the policy isn't it is because we don't have that we
- 49:15don't have those same religious texts like the Bible, or the
- 49:21Quran or whatever that lays it out for you.
- 49:24This is the way that it's done, how it should be done in
- 49:28anything else is wrong. The text that we do have Offer,
- 49:34several variations of those important things.
- 49:37And you've got historical references that you can go to.
- 49:41That will say this is celebrated on this date by the lunar
- 49:45calendar. This is celebrated on this date
- 49:47based on something else, neither a wrong neither right.
- 49:51It's what they were doing where they were in the time.
- 49:55So as far as Dogma goes. I don't know to have a Doctrine,
- 50:01a lot like you said, Jesse a lot of these.
- 50:03People get the idea that it's a free-for-all.
- 50:06It's absolutely not our ancestors and you go back to
- 50:09Old. Scandinavia prided themselves on
- 50:12order and law, and structure. And they were the first
- 50:16government in the world. They founded parliament in
- 50:19Iceland. Yeah, so it was very important
- 50:22at Outlaws, you had in a yard outer yard people.
- 50:26That would be A banished for that.
- 50:29Yeah, for for very specific things, like dishonoring the
- 50:33gods are blaspheming the gods if you want to use that term,
- 50:35right? If you talk shit about the gods,
- 50:38there are Sorry good want that, they didn't want that wrath to
- 50:43come back on them, they didn't want that negative energy that
- 50:46negative value because you're insulted, the God.
- 50:50So you're going to pay the consequences for that and they
- 50:52didn't want to catch it secondhand.
- 50:56So yeah, there is it's this low key thing in this chaos thing
- 51:01and it's everyone has ever you want.
- 51:03Get out of here with that. It was never the way that it
- 51:06was. It's never the way that it's
- 51:07been balance is the order of the cosmos, not chaos.
- 51:13Yeah, I mean it's it's there it exists.
- 51:16So to acknowledge it. I think that's about as far as
- 51:19it goes. At least four for me or what
- 51:21I've come to learn. Is it exists?
- 51:23You can't ignore it. You've got to deal with it and
- 51:26you got to get through it. Bothers me the most, is that
- 51:31People can't be happy with its existence.
- 51:34They have to promote it and create it to remind everyone
- 51:38else that it exists. Yeah.
- 51:41So then you get into Edge lording and I'm going to be a
- 51:43troll and I'm gonna do this and was it Rock a true or yeah, I've
- 51:51not heard that yet. What is Vibe of Loki's
- 51:56Offspring? I believe you're right.
- 52:00Right. Yeah.
- 52:01So your location reactive know. It's, I mean, real real
- 52:07recognizes real, dude. I mean that's pretty much kind
- 52:09of how I looked at it to. I was like, why would you even
- 52:13because, you know, in any culture doesn't even have to be
- 52:16dramatic or Norse or whatever? But in any in any culture, look
- 52:23at Native American or indigenous natives of of the American
- 52:28continent, they have their Our coyote, you know, he exists that
- 52:34spirit that that that Wily sort of chaotic thing exists.
- 52:38And at least in many tribal cultures I think it's I don't
- 52:42want to speak on behalf of a tribe, any or whatever, body
- 52:45they recognize it but you don't care about these people like
- 52:50Doing a drum circle or dancing for the coyote, you know,
- 52:52there's just like not leave that sonbitch alone.
- 52:54He's he serves a purpose. He does a thing or not going to
- 52:59your back. I can hear you, okay?
- 53:02See you, maybe you guys didn't lose, maybe they miss it because
- 53:07the coyote is just doing what's natural to it?
- 53:10Yeah, it wants to eat. It wants to survive humans.
- 53:14At that point had started cultivating raising livestock.
- 53:18They would keep chickens key. Beep, animals, whatever.
- 53:20The coyote would see that meal go get it.
- 53:23So the coyotes just living his life.
- 53:25But to the people, he was Troublesome, he was a bother.
- 53:28He was my mission stealing taking away from but then you
- 53:34get the people that want to mimic the coyote, not for just
- 53:38living. But because he was Troublesome,
- 53:41you want to be Troublesome to mimic that aspect of the coyote.
- 53:45So you're missing it completely by tying to do this and he this
- 53:50is, This is where this is where I have to come in because papa
- 53:55is absolutely right on this. The first animal that came to me
- 54:01when I decided this is what I was going to do with my path was
- 54:05the coyote, there was literally a coyote that walk across the
- 54:09street, while we were driving the neighborhood.
- 54:10The first day we moved in here and I decided, okay, we're not
- 54:14moving around anymore, I can actually set up a spiritual
- 54:18place in my backyard for practice.
- 54:22The coyote was the first animal that I saw it and it was a big
- 54:25son of a bitch. I'm telling you is biggest
- 54:27German Shepherd and walked right through our neighborhood and
- 54:31then the first several things that came to me were of coyote.
- 54:35They were there was a coyote headdress that I found that a
- 54:39guy was it was a they have a covered bridge festival where
- 54:42I'm from it's the home of the covered bridge festival and
- 54:46there was a fur Trader there. He had a coyote hat and it was a
- 54:49decent coyote hat He's cheap and I was like, I need a fur, I love
- 54:54this hat, I bought it. And then several coyotes Falls
- 54:59have came to me over time on canoe trips and stuff like that,
- 55:03that I've taken just random stuff along the creek, The
- 55:07Creeks around here. So, the coyote and I never
- 55:10really thought of it as like a character of chaos.
- 55:12I just No, the coyotes like a creature of opportunity, as I
- 55:19guess, you know, he to me, a coyote would jump on an
- 55:22opportunity if he's seen it, whether it would be eat or breed
- 55:26or even wander, you know. So yeah, the ideology of a
- 55:35coyote being a creature of chaos has the way Papa explained, it
- 55:40made sense but I never thought like the coyote was a tree.
- 55:43Sure of chaos, we're setting the most admired, most of my ritual
- 55:47stuff is made from coyote. they're abundant around here, so
- 55:55And another thing, when you dismiss those other things and
- 55:58you want to be on the idea of chaos and free-for-all, you
- 56:01forget that you're also kind of spitting in the wind toward tear
- 56:09for seti, these established ideas and spirits that we have
- 56:14for justice and law and fairness.
- 56:20Yeah, because again there was a it was a society built around
- 56:23order. And, and even even the early
- 56:27Germanic tribes new this, you know, we they had very certain
- 56:31and specific laws in place to keep order.
- 56:35And if you violated it, then, you know, it was it was a
- 56:39different time, you know? And that's one of the things of
- 56:41about historical hidenori that I always, you know, admonish
- 56:45people on is a bear in mind of what was going on at the time
- 56:48and house is how the world was at the time.
- 56:51You know, if something was bad you would either Cut it off, cut
- 56:55it out, extinguish it right now we've got other means like
- 57:00there's other ways of dealing with things where you don't just
- 57:03have to kick somebody out of a group or outlaw them as it were
- 57:05right. There's we're not living in
- 57:09those times anymore. So the context is important to
- 57:12understand and if people get too wrapped up in the the historical
- 57:17fascination of it and go, well, that's what I want to do now,
- 57:21100% all the time. Exactly.
- 57:23That way. Again, not telling anybody how
- 57:27to live, or how to do their thing, but just kind of realize
- 57:29it. It could be going on treading on
- 57:33dangerous territory there. Because again, it doesn't
- 57:35doesn't align with where we are as a As a species as a society.
- 57:42You know someone from irrelevant and so it likes purpose.
- 57:47There you go. And I pulled back into what
- 57:51you're saying is like for police or things that cannot be really
- 57:54negotiate or compromise my opinion.
- 57:58It's a few things is honoring of the gods that should go without
- 58:04saying, you know, different path.
- 58:06The odds like a good friend of mine.
- 58:08Fine, she's very eclectic, she practices various different
- 58:13faiths and what? Not me.
- 58:16I can't do that at the very disoriented and conflicting with
- 58:19the energies, but the things that I can't go back on is he
- 58:24loitering up the God specifically at the Norse gods?
- 58:27And then, of course, honoring our ancestors and then Just
- 58:36being an overall good person, but again, I'm not as well.
- 58:41First, as you guys in that regard and I'm doing my best to
- 58:44contribute to this conversation when I can no, you're doing
- 58:47great. Yeah, but those core things, you
- 58:52know, it sounds matching yours is carrying the best intentions.
- 58:56And wait, you're pursuing what? You're, you know, chasing after
- 59:00and what your wants and wanting to embody.
- 59:04I think those are the chords that Can't dismiss this, you
- 59:06know, the gods, our tribe, our family, our ancestors and above
- 59:11all our surroundings are mother, yours are Earth, the land of
- 59:16Rich relay. And that's why the other thing.
- 59:19This is kind of going a complete 180 from everything but it's one
- 59:23of things I really admired love that you guys created the sacred
- 59:25Trail Society is that incorporates?
- 59:28Some people really fundamental because I feel like with beers
- 59:32coming it's only going to get worse and worse and worse.
- 59:35Worse and worse and people like us, it's going to keep that, you
- 59:39know, what's the word I'm looking for?
- 59:42It, keep that life force going to keep that heart.
- 59:45Beating is to contribute. What we can inevitably, it may
- 59:50not work out. But anyways, I'll let you guys
- 59:52take the floor here. No, I totally get it that that
- 59:56counter weight on the scale and that's important Jesse's talked
- 1:00:00about tradition before and worthy tradition, and some
- 1:00:04tradition isn't but things. Like respecting the place that
- 1:00:11we live, it's important to be that counterbalance or
- 1:00:14counterweight to the way that we've shifted as a society.
- 1:00:17We become very busy people, so we don't take the time to clean
- 1:00:21up after ourselves. Like we used to, it's not
- 1:00:23important anymore. The That used to be, we don't
- 1:00:27think about water the same anymore because we can go to six
- 1:00:31seven, 10 different locations, in our home and twist the knob
- 1:00:34and outcomes clean drinking water.
- 1:00:36Whereas for 50, 60 years ago, even some places here in
- 1:00:40Appalachia and now you have to walk to get water and then you
- 1:00:44have to filter it yourself. So we don't appreciate water the
- 1:00:48same and that's about as basic as it gets as water.
- 1:00:53You wouldn't go take a dump In your well, just because it's,
- 1:00:58you know, because it's an easy way.
- 1:00:59It's an easy seat, wouldn't go take a dump in your well, you
- 1:01:03know. So why would you throw, you
- 1:01:04know, crap out your window. This is gonna, you know, dump
- 1:01:08used motor oil next year welp. It, that doesn't make any sense.
- 1:01:11You know, why would you do that? Why would anyone do that?
- 1:01:14But that's essentially what we do by masks water bottles
- 1:01:20garbage. All this crap that you like we
- 1:01:22go walking like there's Woods. Hear me and there's there's it's
- 1:01:26not necessarily a trail, it's more private property, but when
- 1:01:29I hit that place back here, there's kids to go back and mess
- 1:01:31around all the time and you find, you know, Monster cans
- 1:01:36water problem. I don't even want to go into
- 1:01:39everything that you find back there, it may it may get us some
- 1:01:43banned from YouTube for a week or two but it's right but read I
- 1:01:48see shit back here. I'm like just why I stopped
- 1:01:53believing that stuff. Pick it up if you're there and
- 1:01:55it's not yours. You have a way to pick it up and
- 1:01:57safe. Way to pick it up.
- 1:01:59Pick it up. I mean I've found you know, hard
- 1:02:03drug use items down there where kids play on the damn Beach.
- 1:02:06You know it was early spring thankfully and it was the waters
- 1:02:11are still low before they rise with spring, rain and flushed
- 1:02:14everything down. But still, there was some stuff
- 1:02:17I found on there was not good, you know, someone to take their
- 1:02:20kids down there fishing and they let their kids go play and they
- 1:02:23found this stuff that, you know, they could Something really bad
- 1:02:25could happen to him. And, you know, it's I think that
- 1:02:30might be a lot of two's. Is people just they do is they
- 1:02:33just don't think they don't care.
- 1:02:35They don't think they're not like that.
- 1:02:37We've lost our connection. So we don't care about it
- 1:02:39anymore. It's not important anymore.
- 1:02:42I can throw my shit here because I'm trying the garden here.
- 1:02:45I don't care what I dumped in the water because that's my
- 1:02:48drinking water, so it doesn't bother me.
- 1:02:50It doesn't affect me directly so I don't Have to care about it.
- 1:02:55It doesn't have to be important to me.
- 1:02:57I've got all these other things that I'm already worried about.
- 1:02:59Anyway, we've lost that connection to care and make an
- 1:03:04effort to keep it up your responsibility, right,
- 1:03:10custodianship. Sorry, I got delayed again.
- 1:03:15I dare say, it might take a time for us to be forced into that
- 1:03:21situation to really She ate what we don't have that.
- 1:03:27It could be as simple as like, a blackout from, like a lightning
- 1:03:31storm or what have you. But I think most of us if not
- 1:03:38all bullshit sees the time and opportunity to appreciate those
- 1:03:42things that our ancestors, we know relied very heavily on at.
- 1:03:47That's one of the things I appreciate about.
- 1:03:48How about these you mentioned Jesse's?
- 1:03:50When you go for your walks? Like when I can visit you we
- 1:03:53went down to the river. We went Barefoot because the
- 1:03:56majority of our ancestors didn't have Footwear to accommodate us
- 1:04:00or bug spray, which I wish I brought that day but I still
- 1:04:05don't. I think it's very important that
- 1:04:08the humbled and often sometimes humiliated it being ill-prepared
- 1:04:13for such things. Like when I would visit you,
- 1:04:15Jesse my GPS crapped out on me and then my car Start the crap
- 1:04:22out of you as well. It's like I was like, man.
- 1:04:26Oh man, this is really skeet. This is not cool.
- 1:04:29But then all the while in the spirit of what I was doing and
- 1:04:32like, man, I can only imagine what my ancestors were going
- 1:04:36through there like a freak rainstorm, or whatever situation
- 1:04:41that you can imagine to get between your destination.
- 1:04:45What you're trying to do but something again, it's this.
- 1:04:49I really want to bring that appreciation.
- 1:04:52And you know, Capture that opportunity to give thanks to
- 1:04:56something. We take for granted for every
- 1:04:58day. It also goes into spiritual
- 1:05:00practices, like sharing a meal sharing company, and things like
- 1:05:04that. There's a tremendous amount to
- 1:05:08be said, for just the simple Act of spending that time together
- 1:05:14Fellowship. Yeah, because we don't have
- 1:05:18anymore, we're just going down. It's to go watch a sports event
- 1:05:22or to watch an entertainment thing or a movie.
- 1:05:27Or even even just going out to eat.
- 1:05:29I mean, like here in the United States.
- 1:05:32It's everything's, you know, how do you get this person who's
- 1:05:36sitting in this seat in and out quickly?
- 1:05:40So that the next 15? 20 30 people can come in and
- 1:05:44bring in money for that business and whatnot, which I get it,
- 1:05:46like that's a component and but it's the, the meal sitting down
- 1:05:52sharing company conversation. That's still something very rich
- 1:05:56in a lot of cultures In this world.
- 1:05:58It's not that rich here in this country.
- 1:06:00Well, unfortunately, yeah, it's very money-oriented I know this
- 1:06:06first and foremost working in the food industry.
- 1:06:09You know, we give all the accommodations necessary to make
- 1:06:12it, you know, pleasant but also at the same time like, okay?
- 1:06:16Hey, how's your meal doing? And then like, 10 minutes later,
- 1:06:19I'm back. Hey, your play trip.
- 1:06:22They can I grab that Trace is very subtle.
- 1:06:24Hints like a get out of here. I gotta take the nest customers.
- 1:06:27Or whatever the fuck, but surfing.
- 1:06:28Where am I? Exactly Gentlemen, can we take a
- 1:06:36small pause? Yep, absolutely.
- 1:06:40We'll hear a word from our sponsors, wink, wink.
- 1:06:42And we'll be right back here after a short break.
- 1:06:46I'm good. And we are back back with Papa
- 1:06:53Olufsen back with Cliff that back with Patrick going over.
- 1:06:59A lot of stuff mainly focused on the dues of heathen re what do
- 1:07:06practicing heathens do? I thought that I had guys that I
- 1:07:10thought maybe we could in this next segment of the episode is
- 1:07:15what do some things that heathens don't do.
- 1:07:19What are just like some, you know, we talk about like
- 1:07:21fundamental core values of heathen, re the things that we
- 1:07:24do, you think that there's a paradox to that, or the opposite
- 1:07:28to that, where there are things that we just simply, don't do,
- 1:07:31or we don't allow, I would say yes, but these are more of
- 1:07:36ideals in that regard. And this is again, speaking from
- 1:07:39my own personal, spin it opinion.
- 1:07:41I will not speak on anyone elses other perhaps, but for me, it's
- 1:07:46respecting other beliefs. Because we don't want to make
- 1:07:51that same mistake and fall that hate fuel.
- 1:07:54The Jenna that the mainstream religions carry because we live
- 1:07:59and modern times, I'm not going to kick or hate any of my
- 1:08:03ancestors because they're, you know, Catholic or Christian or
- 1:08:07whatever branch of that, you know, tree and a sense.
- 1:08:13I think it's not right. You know, we live and new ties.
- 1:08:16We need to make new adjustments and new.
- 1:08:19Figures and while it's great to venerate and praise our path,
- 1:08:25it's also important to pay how much to the roots, especially me
- 1:08:29living in a household with my father and his girlfriend, you
- 1:08:32know, they're Catholics and I love and respect him all the
- 1:08:35same as a fellow. He didn't buy you guys.
- 1:08:37You know, they're people who are my life.
- 1:08:40They give me a route to to live under.
- 1:08:42They provide me with food and shelter.
- 1:08:44I mean, I'm in no position. Nor would I even if I was in
- 1:08:47that position, I wouldn't take. It because we love each other,
- 1:08:51and we support each other regardless of what we practice
- 1:08:55and normally, it would be a great world.
- 1:08:57We live in to, you know, incorporate all bleats and all
- 1:09:00people. But in the cyst, not the world
- 1:09:04that we live in. But yeah, this is far as don't
- 1:09:06do it. I hate on other beliefs, but
- 1:09:10more importantly, don't hate on each other, especially
- 1:09:13newcomers. When you're new, it's his fate.
- 1:09:16As all of us, had mentioned One part another.
- 1:09:19It's very intimidating and scary but being that one Beacon of
- 1:09:24support and understanding. As I have with the group that I
- 1:09:27created on Facebook, is this being loving understanding.
- 1:09:32But also, you know, a little diligent is to you know who
- 1:09:37comes and who goes on that on that path, you don't correct
- 1:09:40them as needed and that kind of thing.
- 1:09:43Anything else Bill don't do is I would say, you know, you know,
- 1:09:47talk about Other faiths other pagans.
- 1:09:50And then I'd say, I want to say, don't be neglectful but in a way
- 1:09:58I've been that way recently just been lost my own headspace and
- 1:10:03that's kind of like going to my group.
- 1:10:05As you know that's what's intimidating about creating a
- 1:10:08mental health group is you know not being more Mindful and
- 1:10:12considerate of that plight and open the doors to that kind of
- 1:10:17thing. But anyways that's going off
- 1:10:18topic there. But yeah, as far as don't suit,
- 1:10:20that's what I have to say as far as don'ts I would say, don't
- 1:10:26follow blindly a lot of the major world religions.
- 1:10:30Ask you to follow blindly, you're not really allowed to ask
- 1:10:34questions, you're not supposed to ask questions, if something
- 1:10:36seems off, you get in trouble for calling it out or bringing
- 1:10:40it to a tension that BK. This doesn't add up.
- 1:10:44So don't follow blindly. I think that's something that is
- 1:10:48across the board in all walks of paganism, is to be inquisitive,
- 1:10:53be curious seek knowledge. Llege, fun.
- 1:10:56Your Truth. Fine answers Study and learn and
- 1:11:02experience for yourself. Instead of experiencing through
- 1:11:05what someone else is telling you.
- 1:11:09Absolutely, absolutely. I will touch on real quick while
- 1:11:15we're on here is that it's not a Christian carry over to say, I'm
- 1:11:22a Thor's man or on for Odin or to dedicate yourself to a deity.
- 1:11:27I don't get into the whole spouse got thing, but there are
- 1:11:31many Cults and communities throughout history that would in
- 1:11:35paganism dedicating themselves to a particular deity.
- 1:11:39You don't have to that's a personal preference, just the
- 1:11:43same as it is, okay? To go across the board, you
- 1:11:46could go into a household 1,000, something years ago and they're
- 1:11:50going to have some sort of dedication to are set up.
- 1:11:54Someone in the household is sick and you could come back the very
- 1:11:57next week and it's changed now, it's fourth or and they would
- 1:12:01explain it. Yes, we're offering to the Lord
- 1:12:04asking for help in that strength, to get through the
- 1:12:07healing and then a A year later, you could come back to the same
- 1:12:11Homestead and they've got something they're set up to
- 1:12:14freyr, everybody's well in the house, but we're ready to try
- 1:12:18for another child. So we're looking for some help
- 1:12:21with fertility. So it would be different.
- 1:12:25It would change and by household not just by Village.
- 1:12:29Not just by country right now. Fiery.
- 1:12:32Sure. Absolutely.
- 1:12:34I make a joke sometimes like piggybacking off of Apple.
- 1:12:39We have an app for that like paganism as we have a God for
- 1:12:42that more wisdom fertility. And that's how they were
- 1:12:49practiced with, it was out of necessity with that intent.
- 1:12:53And that purpose, if it was planting season, if it was
- 1:12:57harvest season, if it was the hunt, Sure, you have different
- 1:13:02things going on, you know, your culture spacer, your hearth for
- 1:13:06that. I made a comment earlier it was
- 1:13:08on how many comment early on about like and when I say this
- 1:13:15that usually people look at me strange when I'm like my grandma
- 1:13:18was Jehovah's Witness and that's how I learned about.
- 1:13:20He you know paganism Heathen room and papa brought up a point
- 1:13:27that that made me think of it reminded me of how I ended up
- 1:13:32Going about it like that when I was 8 years old, I'm 40 now.
- 1:13:37And when I was eight years old they were they asked my grandma.
- 1:13:41I'm not to bring me back to the Kingdom Hall, which is what they
- 1:13:45called her church. Yeah, aha.
- 1:13:47Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:13:48They asked me, they asked me not to come.
- 1:13:51They asked her not to bring me back to the Kingdom Hall because
- 1:13:54there was things that just didn't add up.
- 1:13:55And at eight years old, I started asking questions and I
- 1:13:59got pissed the elders off. And rather than trying to coach
- 1:14:06me into their ways, they were just like, you know, what that
- 1:14:10kids too much of a freethinker. Get rid of him eschaton
- 1:14:13questions. We don't want him in eight years
- 1:14:16old. I'm like, I remember when she
- 1:14:19told my mom, that course, my mom, she was a, she was kind of
- 1:14:25sort of practicing Wicked at the time.
- 1:14:28She grew up in the Kingdom Hall. Also, but she Hippie and she was
- 1:14:33a hippie years, you know? Yeah.
- 1:14:34So she was kind of the same generation dude, I get it.
- 1:14:39Yeah. So she's kind of doing her own
- 1:14:40thing. It's time and she was like well
- 1:14:42that doesn't surprise me and he and then they're went, you know
- 1:14:44that the you know that was off the window.
- 1:14:47Of course you know I've been I've been involved off and on a
- 1:14:52lot of my life with other different aspects of
- 1:14:56Christianity and stuff, but that was really the kit that's that
- 1:14:59things always stuck with me. Most of my life.
- 1:15:03And then when I started like Full Throttle, I guess you could
- 1:15:09say practicing eatery. That that that just it just
- 1:15:16really that resonated with me when Papa was explained that you
- 1:15:20know, they thought well I hope you don't mind me saying this
- 1:15:24but I want to pick it back up. What clip of saying is something
- 1:15:27that really stood out most beautifully about this?
- 1:15:31Practice that I've been following.
- 1:15:34Is that open acceptance for the most part?
- 1:15:37Obviously, you're going to have very different people, but not,
- 1:15:41but after many years so dabbling and experimenting and learning
- 1:15:48about other faiths, From my experience, from this faith is,
- 1:15:53you know, been very welcoming and accept me from all walks of
- 1:15:56life. Even if you don't still practice
- 1:15:59this path, I feel like there's this that, that openness and
- 1:16:03that welcoming unless you've burned your bridges for messed
- 1:16:07up reasons. But, you know, right?
- 1:16:09That's kind of why I can reference back into the high low
- 1:16:13group and how long in general and what I love about their
- 1:16:16message is this, you know, we are all people, you know.
- 1:16:21Beesandtrees, Stone and ways. This we all stand together in
- 1:16:25the same place in the same plan that we dwell in.
- 1:16:29And you know, be part of that experience.
- 1:16:31You know, people looking passed my physical difference was a
- 1:16:35huge thing for me being, you know, Embrace as you know
- 1:16:39Patrick rather than a former Christian or similar with the
- 1:16:43first effect. I've looked at as like what you
- 1:16:46see now. Yeah 37 year old crazy guy for
- 1:16:50safe. Here's as You know, wow man.
- 1:16:54Yeah, well, yes, from the show. Me from the show me state will
- 1:16:57you certainly you certainly do show us, man, you show out you
- 1:17:01show up. Not show out like in a bad way
- 1:17:04because usually, when you say somebody showing out, it's
- 1:17:06almost like they're they're they're they're too much or
- 1:17:08they're extra, but you're showing up, you know what I
- 1:17:11mean? You're doing things that I
- 1:17:14believe can be counted towards your GIF.
- 1:17:20Rain your Mutation what you're known for, how you're known by
- 1:17:25others, as you know what I mean? And for within Heathen rewrite,
- 1:17:29if rain is very important for, I think a lot of us you know
- 1:17:34because what that is the one thing that will not die, when
- 1:17:39cattle die Kinsmen Die and everybody else dies.
- 1:17:41The one thing that we know As part of that, that famous stands
- 1:17:45of the Hall of them already, but the one thing I know that will
- 1:17:48not die is the reputation or the fair Fame of one who has who has
- 1:17:52earned it you know, and how do we learn that fair Fame?
- 1:17:55How do we learn that reputation? We do things we do.
- 1:17:59We are doers hail the doers. We are our Deeds.
- 1:18:03You know what I mean? It's not about how, you know,
- 1:18:08how many followers you have on a platform.
- 1:18:10It's not how many likes you get on a, on a, on a Just you know
- 1:18:14what I mean? All that superficial and it
- 1:18:16means in the grand scheme of things.
- 1:18:18Nothing? What really matters is.
- 1:18:23What are we doing? You know, for ourselves for
- 1:18:27those that are near and around us because that's, you know, we
- 1:18:30talked about, you know, the things that he didn't practicing
- 1:18:32heathens do is we care about that.
- 1:18:36We care about the what we give, not just for ourselves now but
- 1:18:40what the future can Glean from us about the quality that you're
- 1:18:46giving to exactly. Absolutely.
- 1:18:50That's like, I've seen Pages start and during a 10,000 10,000
- 1:18:56subscribers within like three months and usually most of us on
- 1:19:00there's shit. It's garbage.
- 1:19:02Well it's like it's feeding what the algorithm wants.
- 1:19:05You know what I mean? Like right.
- 1:19:06I talk all the time channel. For instance, how long have you
- 1:19:09been doing this? Oh no.
- 1:19:13I've been doing the this, the midgard musings Channel since
- 1:19:172017. 2018. Yeah.
- 1:19:20Sounds very 2017 in some somewhere around there.
- 1:19:22You know, it's like five six years subscribers just on
- 1:19:27YouTube platforms of hitting. Yeah.
- 1:19:35Like you know, Facebook, you know there's about six and a
- 1:19:37half maybe or maybe not quite following, you know, six okay.
- 1:19:40Well, over 6 K as yeah. Sure, as you're rolling though
- 1:19:44you're gaining momentum because your quality of your content is
- 1:19:48getting better, that's why you have subscribers that are
- 1:19:50sticking around. Yeah, you know not much for
- 1:19:54quality, though, you know. It's just, that's what matters
- 1:19:56is quality over quantity. Yeah.
- 1:19:58I don't, I don't, you know, and it that, that mentality for me
- 1:20:03transfers into the Grassroots aspect, you know, because I
- 1:20:09firmly believe that that Heathen re Happens at the hearth level
- 1:20:14at the ground level at the Grassroots level in person with
- 1:20:17people face to face. And that's where he even really
- 1:20:21thrives. And and when we you know, I
- 1:20:26posted something the other day about how, you know, you don't.
- 1:20:30Communities tribes kindred's and stuff.
- 1:20:32You know, if you're looking to have something or build,
- 1:20:35something is don't look to recruit people, don't go looking
- 1:20:39for people have a vision have a purpose, live it out.
- 1:20:43Do those things that exemplify? What your stand for and then
- 1:20:49people that are of like Minds that are similar interests that
- 1:20:53want to see that Vision come to fruition will be attracted to
- 1:20:58it. It kind of goes back like I was
- 1:20:59thinking about this. The day after I posted like
- 1:21:01shit, this happened back in the late 80s, early 90s in that
- 1:21:05field of dreams movie. If you build it they will come.
- 1:21:08Exactly. You know, it same thing like if
- 1:21:13that's it's more there's more truth than poetry to that you
- 1:21:17know, build something but then requires substance.
- 1:21:23Say that again sustenance requires spelled stones again.
- 1:21:28Yeah, you can't stay full on. Are you have to eat?
- 1:21:36You have to eat. Well, sustenance requires
- 1:21:38substance Unity that value that comes in.
- 1:21:43Yeah man. You got to feed that that with
- 1:21:46with nourishing things like you say, you know, you can't just,
- 1:21:49you know, fill up something and Take up the real estate and say,
- 1:21:54yep, it's full and it's flourishing, it could just be a
- 1:21:58fat meaningless thing with Evernote strength.
- 1:22:03You ever been to a wastewater treatment plant that place is
- 1:22:06for also. Yeah.
- 1:22:10And it's full of yeah. But yeah, yeah.
- 1:22:16That's a great point. It's a great thing.
- 1:22:19As far as don'ts go, flip definitely you want to mention
- 1:22:22as well as Jesse, it's like we don't as far as the path goes.
- 1:22:28Don't be a dick. It would be any more.
- 1:22:32Like when you ask, like when I've seen, like, when I started
- 1:22:36and look up, I, I would like, I like I found a couple of books,
- 1:22:41right? And then and I found a couple
- 1:22:44groups and the books in the group's didn't Jive the things
- 1:22:47that what I was reading in the things that I was seeing online
- 1:22:49work there. Nothing was clicking and I was
- 1:22:51like what? It's not ask questions then you
- 1:22:54have some guys you know been been a heathen for 40 years and
- 1:23:00he's like just being condescending about shit.
- 1:23:04I'm like he wants you to think that he was for 40 years but
- 1:23:07really he's He's probably about as new as you that's.
- 1:23:10That's and that's the conclusion that I came to at some point was
- 1:23:13that, you know what this shit this guy saying and then you
- 1:23:17know the more the more information that I gathered in
- 1:23:20the more knowledge that was consistent across the board
- 1:23:23people the shit that they were saying was like these guys that
- 1:23:25say, you know, they're just being dicks.
- 1:23:27Most of them don't know what the fuck you're talking about.
- 1:23:31And I have a bad habit of sometimes over over speaking
- 1:23:36about things that I don't know about and when I do, I try to
- 1:23:40retract those at some point. You know, I'll go back and
- 1:23:43college eyes for, you know what? Maybe I spoke out of turn on
- 1:23:46that, I think quite anywhere else.
- 1:23:48But some of these folks are just like they're just dicks about
- 1:23:55and what just happened. If you've acquired all this
- 1:23:58knowledge and you've had all this experience and your so
- 1:24:00seasoned, what is so difficult about lending a helping hand to
- 1:24:05someone in need of it as a newcomer with a simple answer to
- 1:24:10a simple question if you know the answer to it, otherwise you
- 1:24:14get that real quick. Do your own research Church.
- 1:24:18Yeah. Right.
- 1:24:19Well, I think that there's a I think there's some should do
- 1:24:23your own research, but you could also the question.
- 1:24:26Yeah, exactly. Yeah.
- 1:24:29It's all about delivery, you know, and, and you know, you can
- 1:24:33you can encourage someone to find the answer themselves.
- 1:24:38By guiding them in that way instead of coming off as like
- 1:24:41just this kind of and we hear this term often in this room you
- 1:24:45know in he even re or just in other places but we hear this
- 1:24:47term often gatekeeping, I am and they're in this is another one
- 1:24:54of those topics where I feel like when it comes back to Dogma
- 1:24:56you know. Like yeah they're there are
- 1:24:57certain things about heathen re that may seem dogmatic in the
- 1:25:02big scheme of things, right? Like hey there's just certain
- 1:25:04things you just don't simply do but When when we talk about
- 1:25:10gatekeeping, like there are some things I think that the
- 1:25:14gatekeeper mentality that kicks in is, is done when done, or
- 1:25:20when administered in a holistic sort of way.
- 1:25:23Like, hey, I don't just want to, I just don't want to Feed the
- 1:25:30masses. Without them actually getting
- 1:25:33any sustenance, you know what I mean?
- 1:25:35Like I want to be able to teach them a skill so that they can
- 1:25:37feed themselves and then they can teach others to do the same
- 1:25:42thing and then, you know what I mean.
- 1:25:43So it's a more of a holistic approach instead of just saying
- 1:25:46well yeah here's your, you know, go do your own research and I'm
- 1:25:49not going to give you trying to be this like guardian of sacred
- 1:25:52knowledge that doesn't exist. Well, I don't want and I don't
- 1:25:55want to take away from people who, that's who they are.
- 1:25:58If you're a dick, you dick, that's fine.
- 1:26:00But But is it be that guy but then be who were
- 1:26:25all trying to be at the end of the day?
- 1:26:26You know somebody who if you know, if you know something then
- 1:26:31Guy who guides people somewhere else.
- 1:26:34If you're going to be a dick about it, then be a dick about
- 1:26:37it to be pleasant dick. All right.
- 1:26:39Well, I will say, however, it was a power and for clock, I can
- 1:26:46only get it. I can only get along with one
- 1:26:48form. I guess you would call it
- 1:26:50gatekeeping think. That's what are their sites and
- 1:26:52concern? I don't see any reason or any
- 1:26:56excuse to withhold knowledge or keep knowledge away.
- 1:27:01Unless For safety sake and we do that as a parent.
- 1:27:03I'm not going to go teacher yova how to drive a car, right?
- 1:27:10I mean, if she's mature enough and has the motor skills and
- 1:27:15responsibilities to safely operate a motor vehicle, right?
- 1:27:21That's just good parenting. That's just ridiculous.
- 1:27:25Something I want to say though, is I think it's actually
- 1:27:29strangely necessary to have those kind of people like The
- 1:27:32Gatekeepers and the potholes. Basically, the faith that we
- 1:27:38follow because it my hope is those with Earnest intentions
- 1:27:42and a good heart will come across those people make.
- 1:27:45All right, this is not my place. Good.
- 1:27:49Yeah, made the right choice. So it's like, you didn't Yang in
- 1:27:52a sense like we need the butt holes as much. we need the
- 1:27:56crucial and amazing people like you guys, you know because
- 1:28:00without those Potholes and amazing people.
- 1:28:05The world wouldn't be what it is.
- 1:28:08Now I'm not saying I don't dislike these Falls because I
- 1:28:11sought don't like them but they play at necessary role which
- 1:28:17I've come to appreciate. As far as, you know, people who
- 1:28:20understand me and my condition and people who don't or a really
- 1:28:25sunny and beautiful day. We're a day, is this really
- 1:28:28cloudy and depressing? You got have one to appreciate
- 1:28:31the other sure. But that's just me.
- 1:28:41It comes back to that balance. Yeah, exactly.
- 1:28:45And I think with, with, with people that, you know, feel like
- 1:28:50they need to safeguard, And I'll use that term, you know,
- 1:28:55Safeguard information or, you know, keep things withheld.
- 1:29:02That does go back to some, pretty old-school ways of
- 1:29:06thinking, you know what I mean. Even in a modern society, you
- 1:29:10know, like, there's even now in today like If its proprietary
- 1:29:15information, you know, you could look at it kind of like that.
- 1:29:18Like, if you're not part of this organization or if you're not
- 1:29:20part of this, if you're not affiliated with this group or
- 1:29:23this Kindred or whatever, then guess what?
- 1:29:25That knowledge is withheld from you, you don't need to know in
- 1:29:28order to safeguard the luck of that.
- 1:29:31You know, we tell you he's the term look, you know, but it but
- 1:29:33whatever to maintain the Integrity of that group of
- 1:29:37collective, you know. So there's a place for and I
- 1:29:39think when done correctly and when done holistically and that
- 1:29:42way, I feel it's It does serve a purpose and a good purpose, but
- 1:29:47if you're just literally, you know, trying to just be, you
- 1:29:50know, again being a jerk for the sake of being a jerk.
- 1:29:52Yeah, a lot of people when you're doing it with your own
- 1:29:57Community, it comes down to, for power, or establishing a
- 1:30:02hierarchy or giving yourself a position of power.
- 1:30:05It's an ego trip. It's a flex that has knowledge
- 1:30:09that someone else doesn't have And kind of like, dangle it over
- 1:30:13their forehead. Yeah, I mean when with with our
- 1:30:17tribe you know like just because I know something that someone
- 1:30:21else doesn't know if I find useful information or I learned
- 1:30:26something then I feel that it behooves me to not share it.
- 1:30:31You know what I mean? It would be I would be less of a
- 1:30:33person. I would be, I would doing, I
- 1:30:36would be doing an ill service. I would be doing a disservice to
- 1:30:39My Tribe and to my people. If I were to ignore the T
- 1:30:46presented. By sharing that information, you
- 1:30:52know what I mean? I'm trying to hold it.
- 1:30:53Forget what if you forget and you haven't told any of your
- 1:30:57Kinsmen, your tribesmen and then the situation arises where that
- 1:31:01knowledge is necessary or ski to to to, you know, to of decision
- 1:31:10amongst the group and when your Kinsman is there that you've
- 1:31:13told this knowledge? She was like, Hey, do you
- 1:31:15remember This time when we this or that, or do you remember that
- 1:31:20thing? You told me that time that would
- 1:31:22apply to now and it would change your thinking and greatly, you
- 1:31:27know, it could greatly alter alter the outcome of the group
- 1:31:30decision, you know? It's, yeah.
- 1:31:34You know, that's, that's like a, the consequences of your
- 1:31:37actions, probably relative but never really felt yes,
- 1:31:40consequences of withholding information like that.
- 1:31:45What if Tif munin. Doesn't come back.
- 1:31:50Hmm. You know, man, that's it.
- 1:31:53That's a big question. That's the that's the that's the
- 1:31:56that's the thing that he fears the most right.
- 1:31:59Is that good So much of what so much of our
- 1:32:12lives. So much of our existence as the
- 1:32:17species that we are, right? So much of our human existence
- 1:32:20is centered around, are the memories and, and the
- 1:32:24experiences that we've already gone through, we are who we are
- 1:32:28now because of what we've done and what has happened to us.
- 1:32:33It's shaped us into who we are. Right, the, the guru.
- 1:32:37Oops, better than the redundant. goes into school, you know, like
- 1:32:43the the norns, like that whole dynamic that that is so relevant
- 1:32:49or, or prevalent with Germanic heathens, you know, that this
- 1:32:52concept of past present future and how one feeds into the other
- 1:32:56and how we're all feeding that, that aspect of it, you know,
- 1:33:03What I do today is going to impact the tomorrow in
- 1:33:08generations to come placed on it in the lore and text in our
- 1:33:13stories. I think that character's name is
- 1:33:15o-tar his ancestral, inheritance was being withheld from him, he
- 1:33:21was owed a great deal of wealth from his family, but he couldn't
- 1:33:25recall, he couldn't remember his lineage.
- 1:33:28So he was being denied that and he makes offerings and offerings
- 1:33:32at all. Has and dedications to Freya,
- 1:33:35who sees this takes notice besides to help him out and the
- 1:33:40story goes on, but he ends up getting a magical potion that
- 1:33:43helps him. Remember all those in his line
- 1:33:46by name and he's able to recite them and therefore get the
- 1:33:50inheritance that he's owed. So that memory Yeah.
- 1:33:56Hello Freya girlfriend and we're recording this on Friday.
- 1:34:03They usually raised a freaks day.
- 1:34:05I mean, linguistically, I mean, logically there's there's
- 1:34:09connections comparisons to dedications afraid my mug here.
- 1:34:15Oh yeah, I got my horn right here.
- 1:34:21Dedications to the gods. I, you know, we were talking
- 1:34:24about Regional practices and cultic practices and have you
- 1:34:29guys ever heard of, I think I've talked to you about this once
- 1:34:33once before at least in a conversation, one time.
- 1:34:36Pop up, but I are either one of you guys, Patrick or Cliff?
- 1:34:40Are you familiar with the, the valsa filter?
- 1:34:44Saga. What filter valsa?
- 1:34:47Thoughts are Saga. It's a story.
- 1:34:51It's called The valsa. Thought ER yeah.
- 1:34:53I could use a refresher. So I don't remember all the
- 1:34:58specifics. But essentially the, it's a the
- 1:35:03centerpiece of the, of the Saga revolves around a Dried out
- 1:35:12horse. Valise that is kept as an
- 1:35:14heirloom in the family and they bring it out and they like pass
- 1:35:16it around at dinner and they like what the pray over it and
- 1:35:19they like their their this heart.
- 1:35:21This home, this, this family's sacred item was a horse dick
- 1:35:26like a dried-up petrified. Yes.
- 1:35:29Horsepowers and so, you know, you talk about like individual
- 1:35:35cultic practices and what might be suitable for some is not
- 1:35:39Edible for others. I'm like well here you go.
- 1:35:41You got a family in somewhere in Scandinavia that carried around
- 1:35:44a dried-up horse Wang and and it was a sacred item for them.
- 1:35:50You know. Now how important friend who's
- 1:35:56was, you know, guy has a lot of Native American blood in them
- 1:36:00from the American Midwest and they Took and slaughtered for
- 1:36:08their own Buffalo. The he paid that, you know, he
- 1:36:11paid to be able to do this. There was a guy, there was a
- 1:36:14family of people in our area that actually raised Buffalo and
- 1:36:19he paid to me able to He gave that he basically paid him for
- 1:36:24the meat for a buffalo on their property, and he went out there
- 1:36:27and hunted. This Buffalo with a bow and
- 1:36:29arrow and took it with a bow and arrow.
- 1:36:31This is as a spiritual journey of, is it?
- 1:36:34And to my knowledge, this guy's at northagen, he's just I guess
- 1:36:39you could classify his Heathen, he doesn't really It was just a
- 1:36:44spiritual path of his. He was on he didn't really
- 1:36:49adhere to any any particular name I guess as far as Faith
- 1:36:56goes but he just wanted to do that one day and was like I have
- 1:37:00some money I'll go pay for this Buffalo and see if these people
- 1:37:02let me hunt one off the property and he went, didn't he come in
- 1:37:05through the back side of their property and come in and hunted,
- 1:37:09a buffalo. And he took one with a bow and
- 1:37:11arrow and he used the scrotum. As a medicine bag, he made a
- 1:37:15fucking medal out of the out of the bull nuts from it.
- 1:37:21And he said this would be an heirloom through all the men in
- 1:37:24my family. Hmm, see there, that is purpose,
- 1:37:28right there that is. That isn't purpose?
- 1:37:30And this D. And these are the kind of people
- 1:37:32that I was raised around. Like my dad had esoteric
- 1:37:36friends. My dad was a biker and he had
- 1:37:39strange friends will put up the like that, you know?
- 1:37:44I grew up around a lot of interesting people.
- 1:37:49Well it's kind of helped me. It helps me in my path.
- 1:37:52It lets me know that I'm not weird, it's everything else
- 1:37:54around me. It's fucking weird, right?
- 1:37:57Normal people or fucking the weird ones, right?
- 1:38:00Because there's people go out and do shit like this on a whim
- 1:38:03white and and they're perfectly normal people, you know, as far
- 1:38:07as in my eyes and you know what? Yeah, it's a relative terms, you
- 1:38:10know, what is and what is normal for?
- 1:38:11The spider is chaos. The fly.
- 1:38:14It's you know this guy felt detached from, he just felt
- 1:38:20detached so to get reattached to his inner purpose.
- 1:38:25His inner being in his inner spiritualism.
- 1:38:28He went and hunted a buffalo. He took the fucker with another
- 1:38:31with a bow and arrow and he used every bit of used every bit of
- 1:38:36he just finished his cabin in the woods and he had a family
- 1:38:39wife and a few kids and he the buffalo The buffalo skull still
- 1:38:45hangs on the front of the cabin, and he still wears the scrotum
- 1:38:50round, his neck. Like the unfortunate part about
- 1:38:55that story is, is he declared to he'd, give it to his son, and he
- 1:39:00had nothing the daughters. So, but he does have grandsons.
- 1:39:05So yeah, that'll be passed on. I'm sure the story that
- 1:39:09fantastic story will be passed on to his grandson.
- 1:39:13And whether he, whether he accepts it, and, and accepts his
- 1:39:18tribal duty of holding his grandfather's, you know, story,
- 1:39:23you know, that's up to him. But no, that's yeah, to me.
- 1:39:27And my book, that's even, yeah. Well, that's that, that was
- 1:39:32definitely a part of their Traditions, you know what I
- 1:39:34mean. So, the label that name that we
- 1:39:36put two. Our beliefs or whatever.
- 1:39:39Yes, he even re usually gets the that's where the the mark
- 1:39:43usually hits his, he even re but those those types of things
- 1:39:49exist, in Other cultures around the world outside of just
- 1:39:54Germanic cultures. It's a it's a common theme.
- 1:39:58You know, with the way that our tribe has has developed and
- 1:40:02grown, you know so much of The way that relationships have have
- 1:40:07built and developed over the years.
- 1:40:12You know Papa Olufsen here has crafted items for clear the folk
- 1:40:18for our tribe, you know. So our drum which is right over
- 1:40:22here behind me and you can't really see it but there's a
- 1:40:27hammer rattle, you know, these are these are not mine, they
- 1:40:31don't belong to me, they belong to the tribe, they are tribal
- 1:40:34relics they are, they are things that will become Items that get
- 1:40:40passed down for the tribe as it as its Inception grows, you know
- 1:40:45what I mean? So, so the next Inception of the
- 1:40:47really folk and I'm not here when you know, all for Patrick
- 1:40:50or others that are part of the tribe aren't here, physically,
- 1:40:55you know, they're really folk will continue and those items
- 1:40:58will become passed down to the successors and into the to the
- 1:41:03next one's. The Next Generation.
- 1:41:05Fantastic, let's find out. That's those are the dues you
- 1:41:11know the dues. Yeah, absolutely.
- 1:41:17But this was a great podcast guys.
- 1:41:19I know we could probably reach and and talk on hours and hours
- 1:41:25and hours. But we've already we've already
- 1:41:27gone the distance here. I wasn't sure if Papa fell
- 1:41:31asleep over there or not, it doesn't look like he's asleep.
- 1:41:33He just gets into the like if you're just like looking on
- 1:41:36screen, you know, for those that don't watch the podcast Or see
- 1:41:39what we see in terms of like the overall participant view pop has
- 1:41:44been known to just sort of become so still in the frame
- 1:41:49that people think that his camera glitched and he's like
- 1:41:52Frozen in time it's like you just kind of I've seen him do
- 1:41:57this on the inner demon with Sydney.
- 1:41:59I've seen him do it with you like you just go someplace and
- 1:42:02he just has the Stillness about it I'm like man that's badass is
- 1:42:07he asleep? He's just thinking about his
- 1:42:12sleep is just thinking his way through some stuff, right person
- 1:42:16living in the moment, right? Yes.
- 1:42:18Experiencing the moment and recognize the woods also and
- 1:42:23just earlier today, while practicing this just sitting
- 1:42:26still listening, taking it all in.
- 1:42:30I got the opportunity to encounter a little fox that ran
- 1:42:35right across a log behind me and That's special.
- 1:42:39And there, I was sitting there, taking it in.
- 1:42:44I started getting half bat by. It was probably a two or three
- 1:42:47year old do. It's not the, the lady of the
- 1:42:51group are probably 15 to 20 deer in this herd.
- 1:42:56And I went out to where they were at, I like to follow them
- 1:42:58around a little bit. See what they're eating.
- 1:43:00See what their munching on, what mushrooms are coming up right
- 1:43:03now, what the forest is doing. And so I set there and she
- 1:43:08decided to be very bold. And again, she's not the leader.
- 1:43:12She was a younger dough, but decided to Huff at me a little
- 1:43:16bit stomp at me a little bit and start to approach me.
- 1:43:20So, while I'm sitting there at all in, I decided to try to get
- 1:43:23this on video cord and as I'm recording her, I hear something
- 1:43:27off to my side and I turn. And here comes this.
- 1:43:30Fox across a log. And I just ran right beside me
- 1:43:35down the log. Didn't see me, didn't know that
- 1:43:37I was there didn't see me recording or anything.
- 1:43:41And then got down and got down Windows, me smelled and turned
- 1:43:46around. Saw me and then kind of
- 1:43:48scampered off a little bit. That's fantastic.
- 1:43:52I love it. I saw something that I think
- 1:43:57most of us people here know, Cody Cody.
- 1:44:02Schaefer Elder debauch right? Think that's the his musical
- 1:44:07project. Yeah, that's right.
- 1:44:11He has his sacred wolf divination, Crafting Shop and he
- 1:44:17shares a lot of really neat things.
- 1:44:19And I saw something he shared today and it Papa what you were
- 1:44:21saying and describing what you experienced today, and just the
- 1:44:24whole stoic. Or Stillness.
- 1:44:28He was, it was something that he had shared today and it
- 1:44:30resonates in. It was something along the lines
- 1:44:32of, you know, turn off your phone, put it down disconnecting
- 1:44:36that way stop and be still, and listen to the unread messages
- 1:44:43that are being sent to you from the universe.
- 1:44:46So you can't eat. You can't absorb those things.
- 1:44:51If you're too busy scrolling or trying to Capture everything in
- 1:44:56the moment. Like, you know what, sometimes
- 1:44:57those moments are just for you forget about, trying to retain
- 1:45:01it forget about trying to capture and share it and get
- 1:45:04some sort of response from the world because as useful and as
- 1:45:09beneficial and as helpful as those sorts of things can be,
- 1:45:14sometimes you just need that for you and embrace that and and
- 1:45:20take that moment in and just stop.
- 1:45:23Be still right Embrace that. Esau that ice that that that
- 1:45:27that pause before the next thing and wait and see what you
- 1:45:33receive from the world around you.
- 1:45:37Sometimes you're sometimes your fish story should be fish
- 1:45:40stories instead of, you know, Facebook posts.
- 1:45:44Yeah. Private about that, like twice
- 1:45:51in the last couple. Of days, I watched the inner
- 1:45:54demon podcast and he made mention of something similar to
- 1:45:59that. And then, and then I'll post on
- 1:46:01his page today. I think it was about along those
- 1:46:07lines of just kind of like what it was.
- 1:46:10It was about the people searching for their for their
- 1:46:15their spirit animal or they're, you know, they're calling their
- 1:46:17sign people searching through their assigned.
- 1:46:20Yeah. So many people are so many
- 1:46:23people are, you know, doing this, and they miss, they miss
- 1:46:27all their songs and this all their color.
- 1:46:30You go our ego gets in the way and tells us that we decide what
- 1:46:34is going to be a son, what we consider a son We're going to
- 1:46:37accept as a sign and all the while we're getting them and
- 1:46:41we're sitting on them are passing them by and missing all
- 1:46:44that communication. Because our ego is, in the way
- 1:46:47telling us only, this is the sign because I decided that
- 1:46:51that's what's assigned to me. Yeah.
- 1:46:55Papa was it, you did you share something about?
- 1:46:58And this may be the same post that Cliff is talking about but
- 1:47:00did you was it? You that shared something about
- 1:47:04their? It was animistic, it was, it was
- 1:47:06like a crow and something else. Yeah.
- 1:47:13Do you have that available? Like, can you like recite that?
- 1:47:15Can you share that? Is that something on your mind
- 1:47:17that you would be willing to okay, on to express?
- 1:47:20Because I feel like that was a really important message. no,
- 1:47:24and for the listeners and whatnot, if you're willing and
- 1:47:26able to to convey that, cuz I saw something while you're
- 1:47:34looking for it, man, if you don't mind I'm just going to.
- 1:47:36I saw something else recently and I'm foggy a bit on the
- 1:47:40details because I have to go back and look for it.
- 1:47:41I was It was kind of one of those moments where I go down
- 1:47:44this Rabbit Hole of information. And I see so many things and I'm
- 1:47:47like, oh that's cool. That that's, that's relevant.
- 1:47:49And I saw like a story where it was, it was again, a domestic in
- 1:47:54nature, and it was Like, the fox and the robin or something like
- 1:48:01that. The robin bird.
- 1:48:03You know what I mean? And the fox, the Robin and the
- 1:48:08crow or something, there was like there were three animals
- 1:48:11and it was there was a story about You know how how does
- 1:48:16this? This bird forget was the robin
- 1:48:19of the crow be he was he was chirping, you know, he was he
- 1:48:22was all right, screaming his voice.
- 1:48:25You know what I mean? Screaming is voice.
- 1:48:27He was singing a song. He was doing his thing and you
- 1:48:31know, the Foxwood went to them and It was like they were trying
- 1:48:38to get an answer about about things and they didn't get the
- 1:48:41answer that they were looking for because they weren't
- 1:48:42listening to what was being said.
- 1:48:44And what the, what the what the other bird, or what the other
- 1:48:46animal was trying to say was, I've lost my friend, I'm sad
- 1:48:49about this. I'm trying to tell you this,
- 1:48:52this, this sad story among trying to connect with you in
- 1:48:54this way and because this other animal was, or this other
- 1:48:57figure, this other spirit being was, was thinking along a
- 1:48:59different line. It was, they weren't receiving
- 1:49:02that message. They were they were too
- 1:49:03self-centered, they were two self-focused than two. to stop
- 1:49:07and listen to what that message that was trying to be conveyed
- 1:49:09to them was telling them, Something along those lines.
- 1:49:14I don't know. Lol I'll turn it over to you
- 1:49:16pop, if you got that. All right, I did.
- 1:49:20If I'm going to recite this poem, I'm going to do it right.
- 1:49:25Do it right sir. Oh shit.
- 1:49:31We got to turn the lights down, we gotta.
- 1:49:33We gotta do. We do to unbutton our shirts, a
- 1:49:35little bit. We need to let our hair down.
- 1:49:37It was it. Yeah, there we go.
- 1:49:44On missing those signs and that you go.
- 1:49:47This was just a small poem that I'd written after giving that
- 1:49:51example the other night on the dangers of deciding for
- 1:49:56yourself. But Communications you're going
- 1:49:59to accept or receive. So I called this waiting on a
- 1:50:04sign. I went to the forest to wait for
- 1:50:08a sign red robins song. So sweet and refined softly,
- 1:50:12I'll walk down Robbins, would waive listing for Robin with
- 1:50:15something to say crow started shouting?
- 1:50:18It was all I could hear Robins song would be missed.
- 1:50:21Now, I did fear angry at Crow. I left with a pace Crow noticed
- 1:50:28my change and quickly gave Chase back through the forest, back up
- 1:50:32the way. I thought to myself, what a
- 1:50:34waste of today. I wish to hear Robin the crow
- 1:50:38called, instead not listening. Crow had been crying, my friend
- 1:50:43Robin is dead. Again, I return for Robin sweet
- 1:50:47song, still angry at Crow and how I was done, wrong, Crow
- 1:50:52keeps on calling, no matter which time.
- 1:50:54So I'm still waiting on Robin for that is my sign.
- 1:51:01Wow. So I feel stupid because you
- 1:51:04just told the story that I was trying to convey but it was it.
- 1:51:07I did it very poorly. So thank you for keeping me
- 1:51:10honest. That's what I was thinking.
- 1:51:12I saw it was you. It was you papa?
- 1:51:14That was the story. That was.
- 1:51:15All right, well right. Indeed, but it does man like
- 1:51:25that. Hit that.
- 1:51:27That's That's it, man. Like that's it speaks to how
- 1:51:33much time we waste when we try to decide for ourselves?
- 1:51:36What's a sign? If we would have been open to
- 1:51:39the communication that was there to us, we would have known that.
- 1:51:43We're not going to hear the robin.
- 1:51:46But I still keep going back, keep going back, keep going back
- 1:51:49because I'm missing the communication.
- 1:51:51That's meant for me, because I've decided that the only sign
- 1:51:56that is for me. Is that Robin song?
- 1:52:01So I'm forever wasting my days on this sign that I could have
- 1:52:05learned from day one. Wasn't going to be there.
- 1:52:09And I feel like that's a point that's very important for not
- 1:52:14just us are taking up this podcast.
- 1:52:19But also those of you for watching and partaking, you
- 1:52:23know, seize that moment seize that opportunity, you know, it
- 1:52:28may not be as Grand. Up an experience of we're
- 1:52:32anticipating but it's important know sometimes that curl be this
- 1:52:37big, sometimes that Crow, be this big.
- 1:52:40It's important to pay my for missing something.
- 1:52:44More often than not, its front of front of us.
- 1:52:48That's a that's my wife's analogy to what we are doing
- 1:52:52here, like our purpose in life, she tells she sold me on
- 1:52:58numerous occasions that it's the, that we're here to.
- 1:53:02We have to come back and do this every time until we till we
- 1:53:06listen to the crow. You know I'm saying, to kind of
- 1:53:11to kind of go piggy back off, Papa's poem.
- 1:53:16You know, the, the signs that were meant to see in the changes
- 1:53:20that were meant to making ourselves.
- 1:53:22If we don't make those in this lifetime will be back to do it
- 1:53:25again. That's her.
- 1:53:27That's her route will van on the reincarnate theories and the end
- 1:53:33just the ideology in general of what happens when we die.
- 1:53:40If we've, we've decided, or if we've understood, or if we've
- 1:53:44heard our message, Whether we were looking forward or not, if
- 1:53:48we listened and we've heard it, then we're okay to go to the
- 1:53:53next, the next level. Right?
- 1:53:56And if not, we're looking for the red bird, you know the
- 1:54:01Cardinal. And we've not been here in the
- 1:54:05crow, then we'll be back. Exactly.
- 1:54:13I would like to give one last piece on what do practicing
- 1:54:17heathens do before we close out that something that weighs heavy
- 1:54:22on me all the time and it's something that I try to convey
- 1:54:25as much as possible as often as possible, what do practicing
- 1:54:29heathens do, what works for them.
- 1:54:34Those that are getting benefit out of their practice, do what
- 1:54:38works for them. It's great to get ideas.
- 1:54:41Crumb other people in practice on their rituals or the things
- 1:54:46that they incorporate, but it has to work for you.
- 1:54:49If it doesn't work for you, there's no point if you want to
- 1:54:52model your practice after mine and I tell you, I get up every
- 1:54:55morning at 7 a.m. and I go outside for morning prayer, but
- 1:55:01you're due at work at 7:00 a.m. to clock in, or you're going to
- 1:55:04be late, then it obviously doesn't work.
- 1:55:07All right, you have to do what works for you.
- 1:55:10You? Or you're going to be missing
- 1:55:14it, it's not going to be wholesome.
- 1:55:16It's not going to be beneficial to your practice.
- 1:55:21Oh yeah. I learned a thing about the
- 1:55:24Peregrine and something, that something that I kind of, I
- 1:55:29don't know if it's the thing or if I implemented it myself.
- 1:55:32But I don't recall ever hearing anything about the her gutter
- 1:55:35where, where you take stones from a relative's better Gunner,
- 1:55:46when you create your own, I was actually thinking about this
- 1:55:49earlier today because it was, it was only like, Maybe two years
- 1:55:55ago that I first heard that her the hurdler, the pilot that her
- 1:55:58daughter is a powerful Stones where you were, you would hold
- 1:56:01your block you sprinkle with blood.
- 1:56:03You leave your offerings for whether it be for blow, it's
- 1:56:06only or for weekly, like myself. My thing that I do weekly, I
- 1:56:15honor my landed here. So I go out to my hair Gutter
- 1:56:19and I take an offering of grains and sometimes fruits and
- 1:56:22berries. He's and stuff and sometimes
- 1:56:24needs depending on if if the if the day that I've chosen to do
- 1:56:31it on which is normally Saturday for me, it's a pretty mellow
- 1:56:35day. I don't have to be at work, I'll
- 1:56:37get up fairly early on a Saturday for my work week and I
- 1:56:42go out and I take my my oatmeal and I take, you know, some
- 1:56:47berries. And if it's a full moon happens
- 1:56:49to be a full moon that day, I'll go ahead and take some Mead to
- 1:56:52too kind of Expand on the offering that I'm giving and I
- 1:56:55try to do it on a weekly basis. I don't know whether that's
- 1:56:59something that I just feel like I need to do or if it comes from
- 1:57:03having, you know, Christian influences involved.
- 1:57:08But it's something that that I intentionally do on Saturday and
- 1:57:12that's part of my, my path this party.
- 1:57:17That's why he even that's had that.
- 1:57:19That's your, what I like to recall is individual cultic.
- 1:57:23Practices. Yeah, it doesn't have to be
- 1:57:25Heathen. It's how you do your thing and
- 1:57:27that's your cultic practice. And it was.
- 1:57:30His yours is yours. Patrick's is his mind is mine,
- 1:57:32right? I don't get to go out to the.
- 1:57:35I don't have the luxury of getting go out to the woods,
- 1:57:37like, on a daily basis or even weekly basis.
- 1:57:40I have, I have a bunch of kids and we're, you know, we got
- 1:57:44older kids were in baseball. I've got a new baby at home.
- 1:57:48Wow, I am busy but I I've got, I have 15 20 minutes on Saturday
- 1:57:58morning that I can go do that. And those 15-20 minutes would
- 1:58:03before anyone else in the house is awake is when I go do that.
- 1:58:07Now, when I do my blocks, of course, it's of an evening time.
- 1:58:11And my, my kids have been getting involved in.
- 1:58:14Those are like, they're curious. Like, Dad, what are you doing?
- 1:58:17So I thought I set him down. It's on the story.
- 1:58:20I explain what I'm doing and it's Need because when you get
- 1:58:25to do stuff like that and your kids start to become interested
- 1:58:28in stuff like that, they start to pick up little things.
- 1:58:32Yeah, man. And I'm not, I'm not like big on
- 1:58:36runes, like I'm not, I don't, I'm baby with rooms like I don't
- 1:58:41really I'm not super for fishing in the rooms but I still, I look
- 1:58:47at them. I feel them at some, I read on
- 1:58:49them, I do stuff, you know, to try to learn the Rings.
- 1:58:53I'm trying to learn to lose my youngest son, probably knows
- 1:58:57more about the rooms and I do because he comes out and he
- 1:59:01tells me That's the B room dad. That means, you know, birch
- 1:59:06tree, you know, I'm very very good, you know, very good son
- 1:59:12because he comes out and he asked me questions and I tell
- 1:59:14him stuff. So you know that's that's how I
- 1:59:19he I'm not raising my Christian, my kids to be Christian but I'm
- 1:59:23also not raising them that Christianity is bad because they
- 1:59:26hear, you know, stories about Jesus and whatever whatever
- 1:59:30book. So well, you're not forcing, it
- 1:59:35doesn't sound like you're forcing your beliefs on even
- 1:59:38your own family and you're living it out in your Hearth,
- 1:59:42which is Sovereign and, which is sacred to you.
- 1:59:45And those within the sanctity of in the confines of your inner
- 1:59:49yard are exposed to your cultic practices.
- 1:59:53And so it's natural to be inquisitive and to explore and
- 1:59:58to learn. And that's the beauty of it.
- 2:00:01I think the exposure exposure causes normalcy and when you get
- 2:00:05that normal, she exposure, you get more of a free-thinking
- 2:00:11society or even more of a free-thinking thought process
- 2:00:15about things, you know, and that's kind of what I'm trying
- 2:00:18to do with my, with my inner voice.
- 2:00:21Here. You know, my inning guard, with
- 2:00:23my little family that I have is trying to do trying to get them
- 2:00:27to think of long that thought process, you know, exposure.
- 2:00:31Gates understanding and understanding is the key to All
- 2:00:35Things. Yes, country more, and that's
- 2:00:40something. I'm that's tie off.
- 2:00:42From what Papa was saying. I hope you can choose that dry
- 2:00:46do but my last thoughts and this awesome podcast big along
- 2:00:54amazing man those of you watching who may be new I speak
- 2:01:01to you. You're among three people.
- 2:01:03Great men and I really smile hard when Jesse had this
- 2:01:09podcast. I'm like man it's been a great
- 2:01:12opportunity to me. Cliff and Papa we seized the
- 2:01:15Opportunity. We took it, you know?
- 2:01:17Anyways. I hope that you are like me and
- 2:01:22rubble and it all but sucking up, everything you hear and I've
- 2:01:27heard replay if necessary but this is really special about
- 2:01:33this patent. This practice is being among
- 2:01:36your special book, your special folk and even if you don't have
- 2:01:40those people rarely available like distance wise, they're out
- 2:01:45there well, that they may live three hours from Um, you five
- 2:01:50hours from you eight hours, Mewtwo of hours.
- 2:01:53Those people are there in spirit.
- 2:01:55Amongst the four of us were in three different time zones.
- 2:01:57I believe I am reading a 25 by time.
- 2:02:04Yeah. You where we're across two
- 2:02:06different time zones, gentleman. I got 9:30.
- 2:02:11Feels like three different times.
- 2:02:16But yeah, for the sake of of everybody participating right
- 2:02:21now, I feel like we've we've done a very good job of touching
- 2:02:28on the topic at hand. The last thing I just want to
- 2:02:33say is Russell, you know, you had posted this comment in the
- 2:02:39midgard musings Facebook page. And the last thing you said was
- 2:02:43that you'd love to be able Able to refer someone who is asking
- 2:02:49your, you know, the questions that you post to an episode of
- 2:02:53the podcast because you don't always have the time yourself to
- 2:02:56go in depth with these questions.
- 2:02:57You see how in-depth we went in the last hour or two at this
- 2:03:03point, you know, a couple hours, right?
- 2:03:06The time evades us and we've barely really even scratched the
- 2:03:10surface. But hopefully, what we've
- 2:03:12collectively, been able to share is that There's nobody really
- 2:03:17that can tell you how what, what, what heathens as I overall
- 2:03:22Collective, what do practicing heathens?
- 2:03:24Do you heard so many things about what for different
- 2:03:27practicing heathens do, or people that have come in touch
- 2:03:32with their spirituality do? And so for anybody that comes to
- 2:03:36this episode, that that is looking for how to do your
- 2:03:41thing. Hopefully the message that is
- 2:03:44ringing. And resonating loud and clear
- 2:03:47is, you know, how do you practice your Heathen?
- 2:03:50Re figure it out. Find your way, as Papa said, in
- 2:03:55the beginning, there's no book. This beauty of it.
- 2:03:57There's, it's, that's the beauty of it.
- 2:04:00There's no set rulers, there's Planters with, there's no set
- 2:04:05rules, there's no book, there's no develop your tradition,
- 2:04:09develop your Customs, develop your Traditions, develop your
- 2:04:12what we call sometimes through, you know and through Ooh is ever
- 2:04:16ever growing it doesn't, it's not static, its kinetic, it
- 2:04:21grows it moves it evolves, you know.
- 2:04:25And also don't follow blindly this analogy but spaghetti
- 2:04:29spaghetti, that you're going to be hard pressed to find any two
- 2:04:33people in the world. That makes spaghetti.
- 2:04:34Exactly the same everything. Even if you get it from your
- 2:04:39grandma, you're gonna tweak it just a little bit and there's
- 2:04:42going to be an extra pinch of oregano or A little bit less
- 2:04:46parsley or something. That's going to make it your own
- 2:04:50because that's what suits your flavor palate.
- 2:04:52That's what works for you and your kitchen.
- 2:04:55Yes it's spaghetti across the board everybody around the world
- 2:04:59eats it but yours is yours season your sauce to the way
- 2:05:04your taste It has, and I hope everybody
- 2:05:23that's been, you know, that that's here listening and
- 2:05:25watching when this premieres. And when this is out here that
- 2:05:27you have taken something of value away from all this, I sure
- 2:05:31have. So for, you know, Cliff Patrick
- 2:05:36and and papa, I'd like to extend my very special thanks to you
- 2:05:42gentlemen for being available and wanting to come on here and
- 2:05:45And wrap a bit about it and share your respective, insights
- 2:05:50knowledge and experiences. Don't go anywhere because I do
- 2:05:54want to just say something to you guys offline off the
