- 0:27Speaker 3: I have definitely got a confession, and it's something I've
- 0:31Speaker 3: carried around for so many years that I honestly get
- 0:35Speaker 3: stick even thinking about it today. Okay, when I was younger,
- 0:39Speaker 3: I was with my high school sweetheart and we were
- 0:43Speaker 3: absolutely in love. Where I thought we were. He wasn't
- 0:47Speaker 3: just an amazing guy, straight a student, also athlete, had
- 0:52Speaker 3: football offers from multiple colleges. Looking back, though, I can
- 0:56Speaker 3: admit something now that I really could not admit back then.
- 1:02Speaker 3: I was really toxic. I was controlling, I was insecure.
- 1:08Speaker 3: I was just one of those girls who thought being
- 1:10Speaker 3: obsessed with someone was the same thing as loving them.
- 1:13Speaker 2: It just well, you were young. I mean you still
- 1:16Speaker 2: sound young, but you know, when you're young in that
- 1:18Speaker 2: kind of a relationship, it happens.
- 1:19Speaker 1: You're just you don't handle things right.
- 1:21Speaker 2: But so you felt like, you know, looking back, you
- 1:24Speaker 2: were a little a little much right.
- 1:26Speaker 3: And I mean right before we graduated, maybe a week before,
- 1:31Speaker 3: he sat me down and told me that he wanted
- 1:34Speaker 3: to break up. He was really kind about it. You said,
- 1:38Speaker 3: he loved me, but our relationship had become exhausting to him,
- 1:42Speaker 3: and he wanted to focus on football and school and
- 1:46Speaker 3: we were going to colleges far apart. He just didn't
- 1:49Speaker 3: think it was going to work.
- 1:53Speaker 1: But yeah, that happens a lot.
- 1:54Speaker 3: Yeah, I just at the time, I completely lost my mind.
- 2:00Speaker 3: I freaked out, I cried, I begged him to not
- 2:05Speaker 3: break up with me. I screamed, and I did something
- 2:10Speaker 3: that still haunts me today. I faked being pregnant.
- 2:17Speaker 1: Oh oh, I had a feeling. You were going to say, like,
- 2:22Speaker 1: how far did you take it? Yeah? Like what happened?
- 2:26Speaker 1: How to go down?
- 2:26Speaker 2: Because I mean, I know this is something that's happened
- 2:29Speaker 2: a million times before.
- 2:30Speaker 1: Yeah, doesn't make it right.
- 2:32Speaker 3: But I went online and I bought a fake positive
- 2:37Speaker 3: pregnancy test. I was just desperate to get him back,
- 2:43Speaker 3: so I showed him the test and the look on
- 2:47Speaker 3: his face he was just terrified, but he immediately said
- 2:53Speaker 3: we'd figure out together. He never yelled at me, never
- 2:56Speaker 3: accused me of anything. He just stepped up and it
- 2:59Speaker 3: was amazing.
- 3:00Speaker 2: So what so when when you told him this, he
- 3:02Speaker 2: was like, okay, well let's figure it out. And he
- 3:04Speaker 2: didn't leave and go, well good luck. He was he
- 3:07Speaker 2: was there for you, right.
- 3:09Speaker 3: I just kept this story going until obviously I couldn't anymore,
- 3:14Speaker 3: and I lied and told him that I had lost
- 3:18Speaker 3: the baby.
- 3:19Speaker 2: Oh I hate that, Yeah that, I mean, what else
- 3:25Speaker 2: do you do?
- 3:26Speaker 1: There's no other way it ends. Unfortunately, So when.
- 3:30Speaker 3: I remember him crying, like actually crying, and I had
- 3:35Speaker 3: to pretend, they're like to pretend to cry as well.
- 3:39Speaker 3: And I still think that's the worst thing I've ever done.
- 3:42Speaker 3: I mean, we stayed together for a little while through that,
- 3:44Speaker 3: but everything was different.
- 3:46Speaker 2: So did this, I mean I know what affected you?
- 3:50Speaker 2: Did it affect him? Did he go off to college
- 3:52Speaker 2: or he.
- 3:52Speaker 3: Did end up going on a football scholarship, but his
- 3:56Speaker 3: first year was just awful. He wasn't himself. He just
- 4:00Speaker 3: Oh no, I don't know. Maybe it had something, Maybe
- 4:03Speaker 3: it had something to do with me. I've always wondered
- 4:06Speaker 3: what kind of a part I played and not. Eventually
- 4:10Speaker 3: we didn't end up breaking up and it was ugly,
- 4:14Speaker 3: but he never found out.
- 4:15Speaker 1: The truth, so he still doesn't know.
- 4:17Speaker 3: But the crazy thing is he ended up great. I mean,
- 4:21Speaker 3: he's married, he now has a beautiful family, and honestly,
- 4:26Speaker 3: that makes me really happy for him.
- 4:29Speaker 1: Does it good? I mean it should hopefully.
- 4:31Speaker 3: Yeah, me not so much. My marriage fell apart after
- 4:35Speaker 3: my husband cheated on me, and now I'm basically raising
- 4:41Speaker 3: our son by myself. I wonder sometimes if that's my
- 4:46Speaker 3: karma for doing this when I was younger. I know
- 4:50Speaker 3: it's probably not how it all works, but I can't
- 4:52Speaker 3: help thinking about that.
- 4:53Speaker 2: I really think that that happens to people who don't
- 4:57Speaker 2: deserve that. Yeah, I mean, what are you doing to
- 4:59Speaker 2: see situation like this? Do you ever go back and
- 5:01Speaker 2: tell him the truth even though he's moved on, or
- 5:04Speaker 2: do you just let it go? I would want to know,
- 5:06Speaker 2: and it would be awful to hear. Yeah, but there
- 5:09Speaker 2: would also be a sense of relief that a child
- 5:11Speaker 2: wasn't lost.
- 5:12Speaker 3: But he's already got another family, and every day he
- 5:15Speaker 3: don't destroy him that would.
- 5:17Speaker 1: Well, I don't think he would destroy it. It's not
- 5:18Speaker 1: like he cheated.
- 5:19Speaker 2: It's something from his past that his wife I think
- 5:22Speaker 2: would understand. I mean, I would look at my kids
- 5:24Speaker 2: and think about that every time.
- 5:25Speaker 1: Exactly.
- 5:26Speaker 2: That's a heavy weight to wear. So would you ever
- 5:30Speaker 2: do you think you'd ever do that? Or are you
- 5:32Speaker 2: just letting it go?
- 5:33Speaker 3: I think that's it. I ever talked to him again,
- 5:38Speaker 3: If I ever had the opportunity to see him again,
- 5:40Speaker 3: I might be able to get the courage to tell him, Well.
- 5:44Speaker 2: I appreciate you telling us. I know it's tough, and
- 5:47Speaker 2: I know even though you weren't in the right, it's still.
- 5:49Speaker 1: Hard to talk about these things. So thank you for
- 5:51Speaker 1: sharing it with us.
- 5:53Speaker 3: Thank you so much.
- 5:54Speaker 1: You're welcome.
