- 0:00Speaker 1: Thanks Mike Lane. Pretty big announcement yesterday, Ron Francis partying
- 0:06Speaker 1: ways with the organization and just wanted to get your
- 0:08Speaker 1: thoughts on what has been a very interesting and for
- 0:11Speaker 1: a lot of folks, difficult last twenty four hours for Seattle.
- 0:14Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, always always difficult to see when something
- 0:20Speaker 2: like that happens, and certainly from a guy who you know,
- 0:23Speaker 2: built the organization from the ground up, and we're talking
- 0:27Speaker 2: everything from locker room design to you know, practice rink
- 0:31Speaker 2: design to logo to everything, and you know, his stamp
- 0:36Speaker 2: is certainly on the organization and will remain on in
- 0:41Speaker 2: the organization forever, you know. And for me, I look
- 0:45Speaker 2: at when something like this happens to somebody in hockey operations,
- 0:49Speaker 2: you know, and it's maybe not the coaching staff that
- 0:52Speaker 2: it happens too. As a coaching staff, you have to
- 0:54Speaker 2: sit there looking and realize, you know, and understand what
- 0:59Speaker 2: part you play in it. And you know, and the
- 1:02Speaker 2: same with the players. So there certainly is a sense
- 1:04Speaker 2: of responsibility for what happened from our from our end,
- 1:07Speaker 2: and you know, we're disappointed in ourselves right now, you know,
- 1:15Speaker 2: and certainly disappointed that someone's life has to change like that.
- 1:19Speaker 1: Jordan Everly said as much this morning. And you know,
- 1:22Speaker 1: Todd did address the locker room. Obviously, what happens in
- 1:25Speaker 1: the room stays in the room, but what was the feeling,
- 1:29Speaker 1: what was the message? What can you share about that
- 1:32Speaker 1: that conversation.
- 1:33Speaker 2: I just think that we you know, we talked about
- 1:35Speaker 2: our responsibility in that and what that looks like. And
- 1:39Speaker 2: you know, this is as much an understanding moment as
- 1:43Speaker 2: much as a teaching moment too, for some of our
- 1:46Speaker 2: younger players that are coming in here that really don't
- 1:49Speaker 2: even think about the business of hockey and how people's
- 1:52Speaker 2: lives do get affected by, you know, lack of performance,
- 1:57Speaker 2: and it's always good to have some understanding of that.
- 2:03Speaker 1: You know.
- 2:03Speaker 2: I was in this league at nineteen years old, just
- 2:05Speaker 2: like Berkeley Caton, and you know, if someone or if
- 2:08Speaker 2: there was a change in management, you know, went home
- 2:13Speaker 2: and didn't even think about it, probably, you know, and
- 2:17Speaker 2: I want to make sure that they understand that this
- 2:19Speaker 2: is there's always a former responsibility on the on the players,
- 2:23Speaker 2: on the ice and the coaching staff.
- 2:24Speaker 1: Well, now we turn our attention to Vegas here tonight,
- 2:27Speaker 1: and as you put it this morning, there's not that
- 2:29Speaker 1: e next to the Krakens name. So this game tonight
- 2:31Speaker 1: still means a lot. What do you need to see
- 2:35Speaker 1: from your group tonight that you haven't seen in the
- 2:37Speaker 1: last handful of games.
- 2:39Speaker 2: We just have to be more consistent. We're playing pockets
- 2:42Speaker 2: of hockey games where we're playing really well and then
- 2:45Speaker 2: you know, we'll make a mistake here, a mistake there,
- 2:48Speaker 2: and it ends up in the back of our net.
- 2:50Speaker 2: And you know, I talk about the frustration level that
- 2:53Speaker 2: I have watching it happen on certain situations that I
- 2:58Speaker 2: don't believe it should happen. Uh, And that's you know,
- 3:01Speaker 2: that's on us, that's on the coaching room to get
- 3:05Speaker 2: more out of these guys, and it's also on them
- 3:07Speaker 2: to perform their professionals. Uh. You know, we need a
- 3:11Speaker 2: we need a professional effort, effort, we need a consistent effort,
- 3:14Speaker 2: and we need to play for you know, play for
- 3:16Speaker 2: our fans.
