- 0:02Speaker 1: College football fans, Welcome back to the College Ball Show.
- 0:06Speaker 1: He's Marshall, I'm Chris, and we're here to break down
- 0:10Speaker 1: Week one. It's almost officially in the books as we record,
- 0:16Speaker 1: TCU and u NC still has to play, but for
- 0:20Speaker 1: the most part, Week one is basically in the books.
- 0:25Speaker 1: Ohio State in Texas grind it out, big ten style game.
- 0:31Speaker 1: The Buckeyes got it done. You know, we can't just
- 0:34Speaker 1: hand over the Heisman Trophy to people before they've even
- 0:38Speaker 1: started a legit game on the road. You know, Arch,
- 0:43Speaker 1: everybody was high on Arch. Let's pump the brakes a
- 0:47Speaker 1: little bit. Let's pump the brakes a little bit. LSU
- 0:50Speaker 1: gets a big win at quote unquote Death Valley. It
- 0:55Speaker 1: wasn't looking too deadly that night. It actually was looking late,
- 1:00Speaker 1: but it didn't turn out to be. And then another
- 1:03Speaker 1: rank versus ranked old school rivalry Miami in Notre Dame,
- 1:09Speaker 1: and of course Florida State. Florida State upsets Bama. They're
- 1:15Speaker 1: like thirteen and a half point dogs, and they I mean,
- 1:17Speaker 1: sure it got to what a touchdown? But then they said,
- 1:20Speaker 1: all right, we're gonna extend this thing again.
- 1:22Speaker 2: So that was a shocker.
- 1:24Speaker 1: Not that you know, I thought Florida State could have
- 1:26Speaker 1: a winning program this year. Whether that meant seven, eight,
- 1:30Speaker 1: nine wins, I don't know. You know, I wouldn't have
- 1:32Speaker 1: picked them nine to three, that's for sure. But I
- 1:36Speaker 1: would have counted this game that happened on Saturday, I
- 1:39Speaker 1: would have counted that as an l and that was
- 1:42Speaker 1: not the case. We did have some interesting matchups in
- 1:46Speaker 1: the Big ten Mac Challenge. We didn't know there was
- 1:48Speaker 1: a Big ten Mac challenge now and the non conference
- 1:51Speaker 1: there tends to be a Big ten MAC and it
- 1:53Speaker 1: was pretty good South Florida all of a sudden, Florida
- 1:59Speaker 1: in Miami, any of Florida. They got an interesting game
- 2:03Speaker 1: here with Central Florida. With it with South Florida because
- 2:06Speaker 1: they beat up Boise State. Nebraska snuck by Sincy. So
- 2:12Speaker 1: good Friday night competitive games too with Georgia Tech in
- 2:17Speaker 1: Colorado and Auburn and Baylor.
- 2:21Speaker 2: Actually Auburn pretty.
- 2:23Speaker 1: Much handled business in that case. State survives. We're gonna
- 2:26Speaker 1: we're gonna recap it all and then we're gonna of
- 2:29Speaker 1: course preview.
- 2:30Speaker 2: And predict week two.
- 2:33Speaker 1: Yeah, we only got one versus one ranking as of
- 2:36Speaker 1: right now. I guess you know, we will find out
- 2:38Speaker 1: tomorrow because of the Labor Day poll coming out a
- 2:42Speaker 1: day later. Michigan at Oklahoma. That's a big game, but
- 2:45Speaker 1: you know, there's a lot of games flying under the radar. Iowa,
- 2:49Speaker 1: Iowa State, Illinois at Duke Baylor in a must win
- 2:53Speaker 1: at SMU, Kansas at MISSOO Vandy and VA te that's
- 3:00Speaker 1: at vo Tech.
- 3:01Speaker 2: If vo Tech can.
- 3:02Speaker 1: Find any you know, resemblance of an offense, they could
- 3:06Speaker 1: be pretty good the ACC. You know, I got a
- 3:08Speaker 1: lot of stick for asking the question that we didn't
- 3:12Speaker 1: actually ultimately answer. Could the ACC get two teams in
- 3:17Speaker 1: the playoffs again? Because we know they did get at
- 3:20Speaker 1: Clemson and SMU, But all of a sudden two out
- 3:24Speaker 1: of the ACC doesn't really seem all that strange. But
- 3:28Speaker 1: we got to get there, right. We're only week one,
- 3:30Speaker 1: so we'll look at some I got some against the spreads.
- 3:33Speaker 1: I think three or four of them that I'm kind
- 3:36Speaker 1: of eyeballing. Is there going to be any major where
- 3:38Speaker 1: will that major upsets be or even whatever six to
- 3:43Speaker 1: eight point upsets because we definitely got them in week one.
- 3:47Speaker 1: If it's your first time listening to the college ball,
- 3:49Speaker 1: so welcome its streams live on spricker. Right, that's the
- 3:55Speaker 1: home base, I should say, but under the Ropodobe radio

- 4:48Speaker 1: the Ultimate Package, which includes over one hundred and sixty
- 4:51Speaker 1: channels eighty four ninety nine for the first month. Okay,
- 4:55Speaker 1: let's go ahead and bring in my co host Marshall Man. Almighty.
- 5:00Speaker 1: We had ourselves a very very interesting opening weekend. A
- 5:06Speaker 1: lot of narratives were out there, and then you got
- 5:10Speaker 1: to play the game. Bama found that out. You know,
- 5:14Speaker 1: even I with all the talent, many of people thought, man,
- 5:18Speaker 1: they got a lot of returning talent. If they can
- 5:20Speaker 1: get that quarterback to work, they could be dangerous. They
- 5:25Speaker 1: should be considered a contender. Well, they found out the
- 5:28Speaker 1: hard way, as did Clemson, who still can't beat like
- 5:32Speaker 1: a high level ranked team. Would they beat SMU last
- 5:35Speaker 1: year or something like that. And then Kelly gets off
- 5:39Speaker 1: the schneid in the openers. First of all, how you doing, Marshall.
- 5:44Speaker 1: I know you're moving, so you're a busy man. But
- 5:47Speaker 1: we had a hell of an opening weekend.
- 5:49Speaker 3: Man, yes we did. I can't wait for the rest
- 5:54Speaker 3: of college football season because I'm not moving for a year,
- 5:58Speaker 3: probably actually moving up to where you live. So but
- 6:02Speaker 3: I'll be prepared for that. Man, moveing to grind. But
- 6:04Speaker 3: we're here, Like you said, we had a great week.
- 6:07Speaker 3: One actually was talking to some people when I was
- 6:11Speaker 3: watching that Ohio State Texas game. And you know, even
- 6:13Speaker 3: next year again we'll get the same thing where it's
- 6:15Speaker 3: uh Texas host in Ohio State. So I'm nice to
- 6:18Speaker 3: have this home and homes and I'll probably have a
- 6:20Speaker 3: pretty nice week. Want to get next year but for now, Hey,
- 6:24Speaker 3: it was It was a fun weekend. The scores were
- 6:29Speaker 3: you know, like I literally was bouncing around, driving around
- 6:33Speaker 3: for a little bit with moving and stuff. And when
- 6:36Speaker 3: my buddies text me, I say, what score the Bama game?
- 6:39Speaker 3: I go twenty four ten. I'm like, okay, cool. Then
- 6:40Speaker 3: I'll get back to watching it, you know, just kind
- 6:43Speaker 3: of bounce around. And I would have lost a lot
- 6:45Speaker 3: of money, Chris if you said, oh, twenty four to ten.
- 6:49Speaker 3: If wait what you know, that was definitely not supposed
- 6:53Speaker 3: to happen, Like I was telling you for the show,
- 6:55Speaker 3: and I told a coworker though, and I was so
- 6:58Speaker 3: out of it that I literally thought that it was
- 7:00Speaker 3: two years ago. They had a bad year and last
- 7:02Speaker 3: year was bad.
- 7:03Speaker 1: What a what a.
- 7:04Speaker 3: Huge win for Mike Norvell. That dude's had a really
- 7:07Speaker 3: weird time at that school, Chris, because you come down
- 7:10Speaker 3: there from Memphis, which was a good program he build up. Yeah,
- 7:15Speaker 3: and then you literally are a quarterback injury away from
- 7:19Speaker 3: going to the Natty and you kind of have to,
- 7:22Speaker 3: you know, be a martyr, and then you have one
- 7:25Speaker 3: of the worst seasons ever. And now it started the
- 7:27Speaker 3: year off with beating Bama. So it's really kind of
- 7:32Speaker 3: been a soap opera s waste since Norvell has been
- 7:35Speaker 3: down there. Like, I'm sure I can't imagine how it's
- 7:38Speaker 3: money Vegas made this weekend because the whole world shifted
- 7:43Speaker 3: the bets on Texas, and I'm sure at least half
- 7:46Speaker 3: the world bet Bama. So you know, Vegas economy has
- 7:50Speaker 3: been down there outpricing the regular blue collar people like us.
- 7:53Speaker 3: They enjoy that city. It's getting out of hand. But
- 7:56Speaker 3: Vegas got lucky this weekend, man, because the amount of money.
- 7:59Speaker 3: And I'm sure they wont Onbama losing, but that in Texas. Man,
- 8:04Speaker 3: that I even saw an ESPN article and they only
- 8:06Speaker 3: don't post articles like that, Chris, you know, but said
- 8:09Speaker 3: line movement going crazy on Texas. What a What a
- 8:12Speaker 3: good weekend for Vegas unfortunately for the regular people like us,
- 8:15Speaker 3: And like you said, a really fun week one to
- 8:17Speaker 3: get us going, man.
- 8:21Speaker 1: And you know, it's early. You can't count Texas out
- 8:25Speaker 1: by any stretch, as we know, but you know, and
- 8:28Speaker 1: they're gonna have plenty of games to prove it here.
- 8:30Speaker 1: But it feels about right. I mean, they gotta make it.
- 8:35Speaker 1: They gotta be making Vegas some money on that arch
- 8:38Speaker 1: Manning bets too. Yes, because I noticed the you know,
- 8:42Speaker 1: the last couple of weeks before the season, it felt
- 8:45Speaker 1: like it kept shrinking and shrinking, and it's like wow,
- 8:48Speaker 1: like you know, the favorite. It's kind of interesting because
- 8:52Speaker 1: I knew the favorite generally doesn't win it. But when
- 8:56Speaker 1: they threw that stat up with Lineard that's from two
- 9:00Speaker 1: thousand and four, is the last time it happened where
- 9:02Speaker 1: the betting favorite, I was like, WHOA. I knew it
- 9:05Speaker 1: was a while ago, but I didn't know it was,
- 9:07Speaker 1: you know, over twenty years ago. And in Heisman can
- 9:12Speaker 1: be you know, overrated. As we know, we've seen quarterbacks
- 9:15Speaker 1: have to turn to wide receivers and not make it
- 9:17Speaker 1: in the league. Sure, you know, so yeah, that's pretty crazy,
- 9:22Speaker 1: but we're definitely gonna get there. Like I said, it
- 9:24Speaker 1: was more of a blue, blue collar Big ten type
- 9:28Speaker 1: smash mouth game, even though neither could really sustain a
- 9:32Speaker 1: running game because.
- 9:33Speaker 2: Of the defenses. But back to that Florida State.
- 9:36Speaker 1: Bama game, man, neither of them all that good on
- 9:40Speaker 1: third down, and this is kind of you know, early on,
- 9:43Speaker 1: usually defenses are ahead of offenses, whether you're talking about
- 9:46Speaker 1: training camp in the NFL, whether you're talking about fall camp,
- 9:49Speaker 1: they call it the fall camp training camp in college
- 9:52Speaker 1: fall camp, which I never really understood because it's August.
- 9:55Speaker 1: But anyway, but I've noticed that it will get to
- 10:00Speaker 1: the other games, of course, but the Texas in general,
- 10:03Speaker 1: like neither team great on third down, but then when
- 10:05Speaker 1: you look at the fourth down, that's where it kind
- 10:07Speaker 1: of shows two and two for Florida State and two
- 10:11Speaker 1: of five on fourth down. But the big one, the
- 10:15Speaker 1: huge one. I mean, when you throw forty three times
- 10:18Speaker 1: to get two hundred and fifty four yards isn't actually
- 10:20Speaker 1: all that great, right, but two hundred and thirty yards rushing,
- 10:27Speaker 1: and that's on forty nine attempts. So forty nine attempts is.
- 10:31Speaker 2: A lot, especially this day and age.
- 10:33Speaker 1: And still to have four point seven a clip with
- 10:37Speaker 1: just one turnover it was a fumble, I believe, you know,
- 10:41Speaker 1: the quarterback was talking shit in the off season Costellanos
- 10:45Speaker 1: and hey, Tommy came through just enough, you know with
- 10:49Speaker 1: the run pass vibe, but they couldn't stop the run.
- 10:52Speaker 1: In some of those highlights that like that that touchdown
- 10:56Speaker 1: highlight with the guys running on the left side, there's
- 10:59Speaker 1: like two lineback that are barely running at him. I
- 11:01Speaker 1: mean it, it was ugly, dude. It looked like they
- 11:05Speaker 1: hadn't had a scrimmage yet and hadn't started tackling yet.
- 11:09Speaker 2: I mean, it was bad.
- 11:10Speaker 1: To give up that kind of yardage, you know, because,
- 11:14Speaker 1: like you said, it's nine, Florida State was just gonna
- 11:16Speaker 1: come out and average two hundred and twenty yards a
- 11:18Speaker 1: game or something like that. Now, maybe they will, but
- 11:22Speaker 1: I was surprised that they could just not stop the run.
- 11:25Speaker 1: And even when they did get it to twenty four
- 11:28Speaker 1: to seventeen or whatever, Florida State answered like, nope, we're
- 11:32Speaker 1: still gonna win this game. And you know, Danny Canell
- 11:36Speaker 1: did did say, hey, you know what, I've given a
- 11:39Speaker 1: lot of people shit for storming the field and then
- 11:42Speaker 1: Florida State starting the field is like, I get it now,
- 11:45Speaker 1: my apology. So that was pretty good. Yeah, so that
- 11:48Speaker 1: was pretty so, I guess once again when it comes
- 11:50Speaker 1: to his Florida State because remember his last rant like
- 11:53Speaker 1: college football is not the way it used to be,
- 11:56Speaker 1: and you know, from two years ago. But then he
- 11:59Speaker 1: was okay with his or to stay team two separate
- 12:01Speaker 1: times getting in when they probably shouldn't have, but that's
- 12:04Speaker 1: neither here or there. I'll leave Danny alone. I gotta
- 12:07Speaker 1: give him credit. He did.
- 12:08Speaker 3: Hey, you hate your quota. You give me shit from
- 12:10Speaker 3: talking about Lane Kiff and you're you're always poking to
- 12:12Speaker 3: Dan Canel. We're about on part with both those guys, honestly.
- 12:16Speaker 1: Honestly, no, we're not. You mentioned it every damn week,
- 12:20Speaker 1: But that's fair, especially two years ago. Two years ago,
- 12:24Speaker 1: it probably was a lot closer, too long part, but
- 12:28Speaker 1: just running smash mouth like I didn't see that coming, man,
- 12:32Speaker 1: I really didn't see.
- 12:33Speaker 3: That, you know, And that's the sign. And I hate
- 12:36Speaker 3: this guy's name, but I'll say now because it comes
- 12:38Speaker 3: to mind, I got give him respect for the coach
- 12:40Speaker 3: he was of urban Meyer and Saban, Like, if you
- 12:44Speaker 3: look at what those two guys did, it always was
- 12:47Speaker 3: D line, old line. And yes, that's not gonna get
- 12:50Speaker 3: you the the ESPN flashing highlights, but like the d
- 12:54Speaker 3: lions that Myers Meyer had were insane. And if you
- 12:58Speaker 3: look at Alabama, either offensive line or D line, Chris,
- 13:02Speaker 3: it's almost every year there's a Bama O line D
- 13:05Speaker 3: line guy going pro or maybe there's a year off
- 13:08Speaker 3: because those guys are now juniors and then seniors, Like
- 13:11Speaker 3: there's something about in the trenches that obviously, if you're
- 13:15Speaker 3: a football guy, you know that's true. And I can't
- 13:17Speaker 3: name you Alabama lineman like off top of my head,
- 13:20Speaker 3: but those are the guys that win you the games
- 13:23Speaker 3: consistently because they make the quarterback who everyone does know
- 13:28Speaker 3: their name, a living hell. Or you protect your quarterbacks
- 13:31Speaker 3: so he doesn't get a grass stand on his jersey,
- 13:33Speaker 3: like that's always been the mo. And like you said,
- 13:36Speaker 3: to see Florida State rush for two thirty and Bama
- 13:39Speaker 3: get under one hundred yards rushing because that was the
- 13:42Speaker 3: oir thing. And speaking of oh the perfect analogy. Until
- 13:45Speaker 3: my guy Lane Kiffin arrived in Tuscaloosa, Bama was a
- 13:49Speaker 3: hey ground and pound the ball forty times the game,
- 13:52Speaker 3: Travis Henry, etc. We're gonna run the ball t you
- 13:55Speaker 3: can't move anymore. And that's what Saban did to win titles.
- 13:58Speaker 3: So obviously, I'm sure the Bama line is is gonna
- 14:03Speaker 3: be great this year. I'm sure they will have all
- 14:04Speaker 3: pros on both sides. But for Game one, as we
- 14:09Speaker 3: were staying for the show Man, the board's in a
- 14:11Speaker 3: hard spot because the guy just mentioned named Nick Saban, Like,
- 14:15Speaker 3: you know, you're it's it's obviously a great job to take.
- 14:19Speaker 3: Neither you or I would pass it up if we
- 14:20Speaker 3: were offered it in his situation. But you really are
- 14:24Speaker 3: a situation where even if Bama next year goes undefeated
- 14:29Speaker 3: and beats LS you in the national title like thirty
- 14:31Speaker 3: to zero, will he ever get the praise from like
- 14:35Speaker 3: the true Diehardbama fans or even most of the people
- 14:37Speaker 3: in the country, in the state because dude, well, okay,
- 14:40Speaker 3: you got one now for us. Like, I think he's
- 14:43Speaker 3: a good coach. I think will get squared away. I
- 14:45Speaker 3: don't think that, you know, I'm not a Bama fan,
- 14:47Speaker 3: so I don't think I would say, like, we gotta
- 14:48Speaker 3: fire him. But I'm sure the bolts.
- 14:50Speaker 1: I think it's like sixty.
- 14:53Speaker 2: Such, yeah, fire him this year.
- 14:55Speaker 1: You know.
- 14:55Speaker 3: But but I just think that he's in it. He's
- 14:57Speaker 3: in a to just from a sports stample for a
- 15:00Speaker 3: podcast show, he's in a tough spot because he's never
- 15:03Speaker 3: gonna live up to what Saban did, and so the
- 15:07Speaker 3: praise that a coach would get normally in his situation
- 15:09Speaker 3: for wins is minimal, and the ship he gets for
- 15:13Speaker 3: a loss is ten times worse, you know. I mean,
- 15:16Speaker 3: I know he knew that taking the job in. But
- 15:18Speaker 3: I'm sure the Tuscaloosi message boards were and Twitter were
- 15:22Speaker 3: hot on Saturday afternoon because that was not what we
- 15:26Speaker 3: expected before the But when we did Lasu's podcast, I said, well,
- 15:29Speaker 3: we got Texas Ohio State at eleven and LSU Clemson
- 15:33Speaker 3: at seven, and then we had the bad one in between,
- 15:36Speaker 3: which a couple of years ago is probably gonna be
- 15:37Speaker 3: a pretty fun game. I guess I apologize, Chris. I
- 15:41Speaker 3: overlooked that.
- 15:43Speaker 1: Yeah, I hear that, man, And you know, you never
- 15:46Speaker 1: want to take over for a legend. That is tough.
- 15:48Speaker 1: But also you can't stockpile anymore, you know, so true,
- 15:56Speaker 1: and so it's hard to even win one right now
- 16:00Speaker 1: because the stockpiling that at Bama and many schools, well
- 16:05Speaker 1: maybe not many, but several schools used to be able
- 16:08Speaker 1: to do it. And so that's just the pressure right there.
- 16:12Speaker 1: And so it is harder to win a national championship
- 16:15Speaker 1: as far or sustain it for like win two out
- 16:17Speaker 1: of three or back to back. It's very hard, but
- 16:21Speaker 1: you could also make it. I don't know, it's weird
- 16:24Speaker 1: because it seems harder now because it's more a deep
- 16:27Speaker 1: of a field and you gotta win multiple games. So
- 16:30Speaker 1: in that sense, the end of the year can be
- 16:33Speaker 1: more difficult. But you know, the stockpile, the depth, the
- 16:38Speaker 1: retooling instead of rebuilding. I think there's some programs that
- 16:42Speaker 1: can still do that. Obviously a reload, but yeah, it's tough.
- 16:46Speaker 1: In the biggest thing about it, Marshall, some of these games.
- 16:50Speaker 2: In the big, big games, like the Georgia game or whatever.
- 16:53Speaker 1: Sure that you know, Georgia had a big comeback, but
- 16:54Speaker 1: they ended up falling short in that game. But it's
- 16:57Speaker 1: losing these double digit fits as a favorite, double digits,
- 17:01Speaker 1: I mean, that's inaccessible. I just can't believe that's happening.
- 17:06Speaker 1: It's one thing to have the record he did and
- 17:10Speaker 1: does have, but to do that, you know, Vanny, they'll
- 17:14Speaker 1: sneak up on you. But the Oklahoma team was you know,
- 17:18Speaker 1: not good at the end of the year last year.
- 17:21Speaker 1: They were depleted on offense. And that that's the biggest
- 17:26Speaker 1: surprise to me, is just like you could say, all
- 17:29Speaker 1: the you know, the SEC stronger than the Pac twelve.
- 17:33Speaker 1: So week in and week out, it's stuff for to coach. Yeah, sure,
- 17:36Speaker 1: but this is an ACC team, so it's not even
- 17:38Speaker 1: you know, but yeah, Orida State has it right. You
- 17:41Speaker 1: can compare them to the SEC and as of right now,
- 17:45Speaker 1: you know you're talking about I don't really know alignment
- 17:48Speaker 1: off hand. I know one that went to Iowa for
- 17:50Speaker 1: like a couple of spring practices. I don't know if
- 17:53Speaker 1: he wanted to work on the farm in the summer
- 17:55Speaker 1: to work out or something, but then he came right
- 17:57Speaker 1: back and he didn't even he didn't even play for Iowa.
- 18:01Speaker 2: I'm in a transfer.
- 18:02Speaker 1: That felt kind of bad for them, but yeah, we'll see. Man.
- 18:05Speaker 2: You know, we can't count teams out.
- 18:07Speaker 1: As we know Ohio State last year, but or even
- 18:10Speaker 1: Notre Dame making it all the way to the conference
- 18:12Speaker 1: final or I mean the championship, I should say, the
- 18:15Speaker 1: national title after losing a game that you're shocked that
- 18:19Speaker 1: they lost. The marquee matchups, there was a few of them,
- 18:23Speaker 1: but the big one here Ohio State hosting the Texas
- 18:28Speaker 1: Longhorns and kind of like what I was saying about,
- 18:32Speaker 1: you know, neither team Texas five or fourteen on third down,
- 18:37Speaker 1: Ohio State even worse, really three of twelve, but they
- 18:41Speaker 1: only had to have one or they were one of
- 18:44Speaker 1: two I should say they only had to go on
- 18:45Speaker 1: fourth down twice, whereas Texas was one of five on
- 18:51Speaker 1: fourth down. And to get not only in the red zone,
- 18:54Speaker 1: but like at the like that two or one yard
- 18:57Speaker 1: line and like the six, Like they were right inside
- 19:00Speaker 1: the ten twice and did not come up with points.
- 19:03Speaker 1: It's just a killer. They were able to get the
- 19:06Speaker 1: run game going at times. I mean, thirty seven carries
- 19:09Speaker 1: a buck sixty six to four point five. But when
- 19:12Speaker 1: push come to shove, even though the you know, the
- 19:16Speaker 1: defensive coordinator Penn State made knowles and offered, you know,
- 19:22Speaker 1: they couldn't refuse. They still have talent and now they
- 19:25Speaker 1: have a new defensive coordinator that people were talking so,
- 19:31Speaker 1: you know, eleven first downs, Ohio State has plenty of
- 19:36Speaker 1: stuff to work on offensively. But you know, the story
- 19:41Speaker 1: coming in it was Arch and how much shit the
- 19:44Speaker 1: former quarterback got last year. And some of us are like,
- 19:48Speaker 1: well just just hang on, dude, and we even talked
- 19:51Speaker 1: about it last week. It's just like you can't hand
- 19:53Speaker 1: over a heisman and we'll see. You know, that first
- 19:57Speaker 1: pass from Arch is like that dude was wide, like
- 20:00Speaker 1: he was missing those he was sidearm and stuff. He
- 20:03Speaker 1: was I don't know. He just didn't look comfortable. And
- 20:06Speaker 1: that's also not to take him.
- 20:08Speaker 2: Completely out either.
- 20:10Speaker 1: A lot of people are already saying, oh, he's he's
- 20:12Speaker 1: a bust, he's overrated, he sucks and all that. But
- 20:16Speaker 1: it was a rough one for him, and it's not
- 20:18Speaker 1: an easy place to play. But I was wrong. I
- 20:20Speaker 1: did think Texas was gonna win, and that Ohio State
- 20:23Speaker 1: defense looked real nasty, and the offense just made enough
- 20:27Speaker 1: plays to win the game, but they weren't overly impressive.
- 20:31Speaker 2: Both defenses really stood up.
- 20:34Speaker 3: I think kind of a common theme, especially with this
- 20:37Speaker 3: game and parts of that Clemson game and last night
- 20:40Speaker 3: with Miami Notre Dame, is that it's really hard to
- 20:44Speaker 3: be a good quarterback. Because he even like the NFL,
- 20:47Speaker 3: but there's probably like twelve legit quarterbacks in the NFL
- 20:51Speaker 3: every year. In college football like this year, it's hard
- 20:54Speaker 3: to be really good at that position. And to see
- 20:58Speaker 3: the score of Texas Ohio State be fourteen to seven,
- 21:00Speaker 3: that that's just the dude, sh It's not easy. And
- 21:04Speaker 3: it's probably because I live in Texas in the Dallas area,
- 21:06Speaker 3: so of course I was here in like Longhorned talk
- 21:09Speaker 3: all week. One of the guys I work with at school,
- 21:11Speaker 3: he actually played at UT So I can't. I can't
- 21:13Speaker 3: stay too much shit the end. He's a good dude,
- 21:15Speaker 3: but you know, it's like arch Man, arch Man, here
- 21:17Speaker 3: we go, here we go. But it's like, and then
- 21:20Speaker 3: I heard on the a couple of different sport podcasts, well,
- 21:23Speaker 3: you know, Ohio State had fifteen guys leave last year
- 21:26Speaker 3: that were going pro. We graduated. But it's like, man,
- 21:30Speaker 3: y'all got to calm.
- 21:31Speaker 1: Down a little bit, like like thirteen anyway or something
- 21:34Speaker 1: like that.
- 21:35Speaker 3: You know, yeah, I too. So I think it was
- 21:38Speaker 3: a combination of people going cucko for Coke, Puf's crazy
- 21:42Speaker 3: and Ben and Ben Texas in Vegas, which they hey,
- 21:45Speaker 3: that's all Vegas cashed in there, and then living down here.
- 21:50Speaker 3: But it's like, dude, yeah, I in the back of
- 21:52Speaker 3: my mind, I didn't bet the game because I wasn't
- 21:54Speaker 3: quite sure. But I was like, there's no way even
- 21:56Speaker 3: in Texas supposed to win. You're not gonna walk in
- 21:59Speaker 3: on the road and beat a team in that stadium.
- 22:01Speaker 3: Like it almost the medium narrative, man, you know, yes, true,
- 22:09Speaker 3: that's pretty good. That's pretty good. But the meeting narratives
- 22:12Speaker 3: like oh, they're just gonna walk in there and they
- 22:14Speaker 3: got this. It's like, dude, Ohio State's a pretty proud program.
- 22:18Speaker 3: They both are. But to see to see if Texas
- 22:22Speaker 3: only scored touchdown the fourth coordinator the end of the game,
- 22:25Speaker 3: like man like, dude, again, it's hard being a quarterback.
- 22:30Speaker 3: And then obviously you go one for five on fourth downs.
- 22:33Speaker 3: Again the line of scrimmage. Texas's I'm not saying their
- 22:38Speaker 3: old line was like, you know, like bad, but you
- 22:40Speaker 3: know a lot of times those fourth down plays, the
- 22:43Speaker 3: line of scrimmage one wins it for you, you know,
- 22:45Speaker 3: and it just kind.
- 22:46Speaker 1: Of zoneues last year, yes, them well and speed of that.
- 22:55Speaker 3: I was talking to the people and I was watching
- 22:56Speaker 3: that game and they're like, all right, well is this
- 22:58Speaker 3: an Arch's year? And you know, you were all this stuff,
- 23:00Speaker 3: But I pose the question, I said, guys, do you
- 23:03Speaker 3: really think that, like if Arch Manning was the answer
- 23:07Speaker 3: last year?
- 23:08Speaker 2: Starting to starting to.
- 23:11Speaker 3: Put him in, you know, and like, yes, the dude's
- 23:14Speaker 3: got the last name and all that stuff, but if
- 23:16Speaker 3: he was a legit stud QB, you don't get the
- 23:21Speaker 3: you don't get the hometown discount, the seniority applause, all
- 23:24Speaker 3: that crap. Well, you know whatever, Like, dude, if you're better,
- 23:26Speaker 3: you're gonna play. And he did. He you were, And
- 23:29Speaker 3: I'm not saying yours is gonna be And maybe arch
- 23:32Speaker 3: Manning Chris will have a better pro career, but yours never.
- 23:36Speaker 3: He never lost the job. So again, it's it's only
- 23:40Speaker 3: one league. You went into one of the top ten
- 23:42Speaker 3: tough environments in college football and you lost. Okay, you
- 23:45Speaker 3: lost by seven points, but it definitely was just a
- 23:48Speaker 3: lot of hype. And hey, the defenses showed up, like
- 23:50Speaker 3: you said, just like they showed up in a lot
- 23:52Speaker 3: of games as we can of of big time opponents.
- 23:56Speaker 3: Pretty much almost every top tier game had defenses were,
- 23:59Speaker 3: especially in the first half, were showing out. So again, Texas,
- 24:03Speaker 3: like Bama, hey you're still in it. You're obviously not
- 24:05Speaker 3: gonna fall. You're not gonna fall from one to twenty five. Okay,
- 24:10Speaker 3: but yeah, hey, it's a bumping bumping the road. But
- 24:13Speaker 3: I'm in a way CRS though, just for him, because
- 24:17Speaker 3: I can hate Texas for abubly I can breathe. But
- 24:20Speaker 3: he'll learn from it. Like you went on the road
- 24:22Speaker 3: to Ohio State. That probably will be the toughest game
- 24:26Speaker 3: you gotta play all year, or it'll be on par
- 24:28Speaker 3: with going to like a Bama l Suopers or something
- 24:31Speaker 3: like that.
- 24:31Speaker 1: Like you're gonna.
- 24:34Speaker 3: Yeah, so yeah, but you're not gonna have like a
- 24:37Speaker 3: much tougher experience. So obviously not what they wanted. I
- 24:40Speaker 3: think his ceiling will be plenty higher, but hey, it's
- 24:44Speaker 3: a good way to get your feet wet. You know,
- 24:45Speaker 3: they Texas could have scheduled Missouri State and one fifty
- 24:50Speaker 3: two to six, and people like, oh, arch Mannie for Heisman.
- 24:52Speaker 3: You know, he's like, no, you you went on the road,
- 24:54Speaker 3: he got tests, he got smacked the mouth a little bit,
- 24:57Speaker 3: but you're gonna be okay. And your team obviously is
- 24:59Speaker 3: still I'm sure, huge favor to make the playoff at
- 25:01Speaker 3: the end of the year. But hey, defensively, both the
- 25:04Speaker 3: team showed up in Ohio States. Quarterback you know saying
- 25:10Speaker 3: say saying, hey, thirteen for twenty a buck twenty six,
- 25:14Speaker 3: that's not flashy, but you got the job done. You
- 25:16Speaker 3: didn't have a pick, you know, you didn't do anything
- 25:19Speaker 3: too impressive, but and hell, you're three for twelve and
- 25:23Speaker 3: third down so even his game was pretty pretty nasty,
- 25:26Speaker 3: you know, you know, but but they got the win
- 25:29Speaker 3: at home, which a lot of people didn't expect. And hey,
- 25:31Speaker 3: for Ohio State, that's a great win to put on
- 25:34Speaker 3: the resume. I don't care how it Texas US for
- 25:36Speaker 3: the rest of the year. That's why those wins, Chris were.
- 25:39Speaker 3: At the end of the year, the committee's looking over
- 25:40Speaker 3: stuff that that's a pin the bulletin board, like that's
- 25:44Speaker 3: that's what Maybe that could be one of the best
- 25:46Speaker 3: wins of the year, you know, or it's it'll make
- 25:48Speaker 3: your resume look really good.
- 25:50Speaker 1: Well, they they better win the trilogy next year, That's
- 25:52Speaker 1: all I'm gonna say, because they've it's been two years in.
- 25:55Speaker 2: A row now.
- 25:57Speaker 3: And yeah, yeah, yeah, you're right next then SEC.
- 26:02Speaker 1: You know that that stuff adds up over time. Speaking
- 26:07Speaker 1: of SEC this time acc But when Klepston has it right,
- 26:11Speaker 1: they they have that SEC vibe.
- 26:15Speaker 2: But they don't have it right just yet.
- 26:18Speaker 1: Okay, Lsu showed them where the real Death Valley is.
- 26:24Speaker 1: Don't get me wrong, it's a great environment. I'm just
- 26:26Speaker 1: fucking around, but I still count Death Valley Tiger Stadium.
- 26:31Speaker 1: Yeah over that, But I mean they they when they
- 26:39Speaker 1: needed to stop the run, they pretty much couldn't. It
- 26:43Speaker 1: wasn't It wasn't as bad Asabama, that's for sure. They
- 26:47Speaker 1: started containing the run a little bit. I will say
- 26:50Speaker 1: that because they only got one on weight, but they
- 26:53Speaker 1: couldn't run on twenty f in attempts. They only had
- 26:57Speaker 1: thirty one yards.
- 26:59Speaker 2: Both teams this theme.
- 27:01Speaker 1: You know, four of eleven, I guess from the stats
- 27:04Speaker 1: we've been reading on third down isn't horrible. But three
- 27:07Speaker 1: of thirteen, four of eleven was LSU. You know, they
- 27:11Speaker 1: had those turnovers, those two fumbles, you know, in the
- 27:16Speaker 1: in the first half they were down, but then they
- 27:19Speaker 1: played really well and finished the game strong. Thirty seven
- 27:24Speaker 1: to twenty two. Thirty seven ten to twenty two point
- 27:27Speaker 1: fifty was the time of possession Marshall twenty five to
- 27:32Speaker 1: thirteen on first downs. Okay, it does look like LSU
- 27:42Speaker 1: is going to have a better running game. I'm not
- 27:44Speaker 1: going to put it in the top ten by any
- 27:46Speaker 1: stretch just yet. And and like I said, they didn't
- 27:50Speaker 1: get gashed. It seemed like there was some timely runs
- 27:53Speaker 1: or whatever. The quarterback played really solidly. But Clemson, you know,
- 27:59Speaker 1: they smu but they've been having problems beaten the high
- 28:05Speaker 1: level teams and finally LSU. Since twenty nineteen, they hadn't
- 28:11Speaker 1: won an opener. I didn't. I thought it was just
- 28:13Speaker 1: under Brian Kelly, but I was wrong. It went further
- 28:16Speaker 1: back than I even thought. But Kelly got off to
- 28:19Speaker 1: Schneider and by the way, shots out to LSU for
- 28:22Speaker 1: scheduling all these primetime tough games right off the bat.
- 28:25Speaker 1: We can't forget about that. But he finally gets the
- 28:28Speaker 1: job done on the road and we got to start
- 28:32Speaker 1: looking at LSU different. The defense in the running game
- 28:37Speaker 1: looks like it's developing and making strides in the right
- 28:42Speaker 1: you know ways, especially defensively because Clemson has a good
- 28:47Speaker 1: offense and they couldn't do shit. Now. I know they
- 28:49Speaker 1: lost a star wide receiver early. You have to put
- 28:53Speaker 1: that into the equation. But ouch, you know, big win
- 28:59Speaker 1: for you and Brian Kelly. They need it and we'll see.
- 29:02Speaker 1: You know, they got a tough schedule, so we'll see
- 29:04Speaker 1: where it ends up.
- 29:06Speaker 3: Yes, hey, like you said that, that's that is the
- 29:09Speaker 3: best formula for success. Chris is running the ball on
- 29:13Speaker 3: defensive line and speak. That's what Meyer and uh Salman
- 29:19Speaker 3: had or you can have the crazy thing like coach
- 29:21Speaker 3: O had l SU, where you just have an offense
- 29:24Speaker 3: that is ungodly. Okay, I don't think. I don't know
- 29:27Speaker 3: if if you know what I mean, like it's going
- 29:30Speaker 3: to be that ever, yes, yeah, And I don't thinkers
- 29:35Speaker 3: Meyer is going to be Joe Burrow, you know. But
- 29:37Speaker 3: I mean he's he's he's He's maybe gonna be one
- 29:40Speaker 3: of the top tier SEC quarterbacks this year though, for sure,
- 29:45Speaker 3: and he.
- 29:46Speaker 2: Might go number one.
- 29:48Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, so and again but all I heard this,
- 29:51Speaker 3: all I heard last week was Hey, Clemson Penn State,
- 29:53Speaker 3: two most selling teams in the country. Clemson Penn State,
- 29:56Speaker 3: two most selling teams in the country. Klube Nick for Heisman. Okay,
- 29:59Speaker 3: now again it's only been one week. But Nussmeyer, I
- 30:02Speaker 3: would say, was the better quarterback Week one on the
- 30:05Speaker 3: road versus Clemson. Hey, another another quarterback who has a
- 30:12Speaker 3: lot of hype, Like man, who's I think Klube Nick
- 30:14Speaker 3: is top three for Heisman? I believe, or maybe I
- 30:16Speaker 3: was just misseeing stuff, But hey, they.
- 30:18Speaker 2: Got shut out.
- 30:20Speaker 3: He was got shut out the second in the second
- 30:22Speaker 3: half of a home game versus an LSU defense. Chris
- 30:26Speaker 3: for the past three to four years for sure. Yeah,
- 30:31Speaker 3: maybe maybe right before COVID. Maybe COVID did the man
- 30:34Speaker 3: worse than we thought.
- 30:36Speaker 1: Even that year it was like playmaking, but it wasn't
- 30:38Speaker 1: a phenomenal defense. Yeah.
- 30:41Speaker 3: Uh. The fact that LSU's defense pitched a shutout in
- 30:45Speaker 3: the second half at Clemson versus one of the most
- 30:48Speaker 3: talented teams in the country, that's a huge step in
- 30:51Speaker 3: the right direction. You know. LSU always has talent that
- 30:54Speaker 3: that's never been an issue with him to recruit. Obviously,
- 30:57Speaker 3: Coach O and u Kel you're two different completely the
- 31:01Speaker 3: type of people, and they run the program differently, but
- 31:04Speaker 3: they're always bringing in boys, you know, and Kelly's got
- 31:07Speaker 3: the guys. But hey, if that defense is back, maybe
- 31:13Speaker 3: like the LSU days of being a little more competitive,
- 31:16Speaker 3: and you have a quarterback that could be the best
- 31:18Speaker 3: quarterback in the SEC, potentially you got a pretty good
- 31:20Speaker 3: recipe and there and another key Chris is their schedules
- 31:24Speaker 3: not Florida esque. Now. I do think LSU's probably if
- 31:29Speaker 3: you had to do like easy, medium or hard like Florida's,
- 31:32Speaker 3: definitely like hard time stamp ls Whu's probably like a
- 31:36Speaker 3: medium tier schedule for SEC because that is a huge factor.
- 31:39Speaker 3: They do have some tough games, but it's not like
- 31:41Speaker 3: insane ls. Who's got you got a reason to be optimistic.
- 31:45Speaker 3: And like you said, you start the year off one
- 31:48Speaker 3: and oh last year versus USC, they were in the game,
- 31:51Speaker 3: but the defense, I'm down that Miller Moss had a
- 31:53Speaker 3: pretty good game for USC and they were to pull
- 31:55Speaker 3: out to win a team I cheer four who haven't
- 31:57Speaker 3: talked about you know a whole lot lately, But hey,
- 32:00Speaker 3: this year you win at Clemson, and just like I
- 32:03Speaker 3: said a few minutes ago, Ohio State has a good
- 32:06Speaker 3: resume win. Chris, this looks really good for LSU. You
- 32:11Speaker 3: get a non conference win at the fourth right team
- 32:14Speaker 3: in the country on the road, Like, that's a great
- 32:17Speaker 3: win to start off the year. And it's gotta be
- 32:19Speaker 3: a side relief for Kelly to start the year off right.
- 32:22Speaker 3: Your defense is back in action. The running back, yeah,
- 32:25Speaker 3: you know, like you said, he didn't run a whole lot,
- 32:27Speaker 3: but hey, seventeen carries for seventy four yards by Durham's
- 32:31Speaker 3: that's enough. That's enough to say, hey, if we need
- 32:33Speaker 3: the ball and we need to run, we can get
- 32:35Speaker 3: a piece here and there. Maybe you don't run twenty
- 32:37Speaker 3: five to thirty times a game, but seventeen for seventy
- 32:40Speaker 3: four keeps the defense honest and shows you still have
- 32:42Speaker 3: a threat.
- 32:44Speaker 1: And that's the biggest thing. They couldn't really run consistently
- 32:48Speaker 1: last year. And it looks like they got two backs
- 32:50Speaker 1: now and it's one to grow on. And we saw Clemson,
- 32:54Speaker 1: you know, like they haven't been always great, but you know,
- 33:01Speaker 1: we can't count them out because they have a chance
- 33:03Speaker 1: to win the ACC and and I guess you could
- 33:07Speaker 1: say they could. You know, they're still got to take
- 33:09Speaker 1: on South Carolina and that type of thing. But if
- 33:14Speaker 1: they can win the ACC, then they're in the playoffs regardless,
- 33:16Speaker 1: so we can't cut them out. But you know, they
- 33:20Speaker 1: returned a lot of folks and yeah, they didn't get
- 33:24Speaker 1: ran over like we've seen. But then again, like this
- 33:29Speaker 1: is still a passing team that they're facing, so we'll
- 33:32Speaker 1: see if they can contain this run because as we know,
- 33:35Speaker 1: they got bled. It felt like they were on the
- 33:38Speaker 1: road to get in bled on the run game, but
- 33:41Speaker 1: they did tighten up a little bit, so they're gonna
- 33:44Speaker 1: have to keep doing that.
- 33:45Speaker 2: But really, just the LSU defense.
- 33:48Speaker 1: I mean, what they did to that offense. That was
- 33:52Speaker 1: that was something because, like I said, say what you
- 33:54Speaker 1: want about Clemson, but they can put up points and
- 33:57Speaker 1: they were able to do that. On to Miami hosting
- 34:04Speaker 1: Notre Dame, Notre Dame breaking in a new quarterback, the
- 34:10Speaker 1: grandson of Carr, the Salivary Lloyd Carr, the Michigan coach.
- 34:17Speaker 1: The kid looked pretty good. He looked pretty good. I thought, obviously,
- 34:20Speaker 1: they're gonna have to speaking a run of the ball.
- 34:23Speaker 1: That was the most impressive thing I saw out of that. Well,
- 34:27Speaker 1: the Miami defense, the secondary, you know, besides that run around, well,
- 34:32Speaker 1: that second run around play especially, that was a blown coverage.
- 34:35Speaker 1: I'd say the first run around touchdown was just that
- 34:39Speaker 1: kid making a play. I can't really get too mad
- 34:41Speaker 1: at that one. But the second one was a blown
- 34:44Speaker 1: coverage where it's like, whoa, no one's even on that guy.
- 34:47Speaker 1: But they're not, you know, they're they're not gonna be
- 34:49Speaker 1: able to run the same way and just stick to
- 34:52Speaker 1: it like they did with Riley because he had just
- 34:55Speaker 1: a way of finding the first down. And obvious they
- 35:00Speaker 1: got two stunt running backs. Really love gets the presses pressure,
- 35:04Speaker 1: which you know makes sense, but they they have a
- 35:06Speaker 1: running game, and so I thought that stood out. To
- 35:09Speaker 1: hold that team to ninety to under one hundred yards
- 35:14Speaker 1: is a win right there, and actually out rushing. Both
- 35:19Speaker 1: these teams have good running games, and that just shows
- 35:22Speaker 1: you how tough the defense was. We know that Miami
- 35:25Speaker 1: had a defensive issue last year in the secondary and
- 35:30Speaker 1: as the front seven started to get injured.
- 35:33Speaker 2: The reason why the coordinator's not there anymore is.
- 35:35Speaker 1: Because he kept trying to play as if he had
- 35:38Speaker 1: his whole front seven, and he was taking these chances
- 35:41Speaker 1: that were crazy, and in the secondary is horrible. Whether
- 35:47Speaker 1: it's young, two young guys, or like multiple transfers, they
- 35:51Speaker 1: got some guys that can play back there. So I
- 35:54Speaker 1: was impressed with both defenses really, but especially the Miami defense.
- 36:00Speaker 1: It's just because we knew, you know, like both these
- 36:03Speaker 1: If you look at the top five or top ten
- 36:05Speaker 1: offensive and defensive lines, you're gonna find both. Notre dame
- 36:09Speaker 1: in Miami in my opinion. But I did like the
- 36:15Speaker 1: jump it appears that Miami made on defense. They do
- 36:18Speaker 1: have to go against more of an explosive offense to
- 36:21Speaker 1: really you know, you gotta test that secondary all the way.
- 36:26Speaker 1: But then again, if you're dropping back five or seven
- 36:28Speaker 1: stop steps, the edges are gonna get to you and
- 36:31Speaker 1: we won't have to blitz as much this year. I
- 36:35Speaker 1: also thought Carson Beck was just very very comfortable, very solid.
- 36:40Speaker 1: He had that one bad throw that the former LSU
- 36:45Speaker 1: wide receiver made up for it with that beautiful one
- 36:48Speaker 1: hand grab. They have a young freshman, true freshman that
- 36:51Speaker 1: was making plays, so a good little run pass mix
- 36:56Speaker 1: looked pretty sharp when they needed to. I did like
- 37:00Speaker 1: the three, the three runs right in a row after
- 37:06Speaker 1: you had had some success late, you know of late.
- 37:09Speaker 1: But I thought they're a little too conservative down the stretch.
- 37:12Speaker 1: I would have liked them to snap the ball at
- 37:16Speaker 1: two seconds rather than nine and ten. But overall, you know,
- 37:21Speaker 1: as a grinded out game two, and it got to
- 37:23Speaker 1: be a little bit more, you know, points later. But
- 37:27Speaker 1: Notre Dame tried and tried, and like I said, I
- 37:29Speaker 1: like the potential of that kid. It's just gonna be
- 37:31Speaker 1: a little different and they're gonna have to throw the
- 37:34Speaker 1: ball a little bit more and not run as much.
- 37:38Speaker 1: But for Miami to shut down that running back that
- 37:40Speaker 1: Notre Dame has, I was really impressed with that defense man.
- 37:46Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm still a little upset because I did have
- 37:50Speaker 3: Miami and at them right after this score. I got
- 37:54Speaker 3: them like minus five and a half. So when they
- 37:56Speaker 3: were up twenty one to seven, I was very happy
- 38:00Speaker 3: during your boys on and then as you said, they
- 38:04Speaker 3: did get pretty conservative with the play calls and more.
- 38:08Speaker 1: Two or three drives.
- 38:10Speaker 3: Yeah, and what killed me even worse was I really
- 38:12Speaker 3: thought that Miami's defense did a really good job and
- 38:15Speaker 3: that Notre Dame wasn't really throwing the ball down the
- 38:17Speaker 3: field too effectively, especially in the first half. That kid
- 38:20Speaker 3: was throwing like two yard passes the whole time. Uh So,
- 38:24Speaker 3: when the Hurricanes went to a prevent defense, they dropped
- 38:27Speaker 3: their defensive backs back like they kind of let him
- 38:29Speaker 3: go under, and I think kind of got into a rhythm,
- 38:31Speaker 3: which was not good for my betting account. But I
- 38:35Speaker 3: will try to move on past that. Uh So, Yeah,
- 38:39Speaker 3: that that that actually just pissed me off again. But hey,
- 38:42Speaker 3: at then day, your boys gotta win. I do. I
- 38:46Speaker 3: think you put it really nice that I think Carson
- 38:48Speaker 3: Beck I wouldn't say it was the game manager. I
- 38:50Speaker 3: think it was more than I think he made some
- 38:52Speaker 3: some pretty decent passes. I'm not saying like he was elite,
- 38:55Speaker 3: but he moved.
- 38:56Speaker 1: Really well in the pocket a couple of times.
- 38:58Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, you could tell compared to the other guys
- 39:01Speaker 3: we talked about, like he just had a presence to himself.
- 39:04Speaker 3: He felt comfortable. I know it's a new team, but
- 39:06Speaker 3: like that just and obviously he was hurt last year,
- 39:09Speaker 3: but you know, here's.
- 39:10Speaker 2: Such a high level defense to a great secondary.
- 39:13Speaker 3: Yes, he looked very comfortable, A word that I haven't
- 39:17Speaker 3: used of the of the quarterbacks in the games we
- 39:19Speaker 3: talked about before this one, So credit to him. Screw
- 39:24Speaker 3: you for a costume a bed, but you know, so
- 39:27Speaker 3: be it and Chris, but I just think I don't
- 39:29Speaker 3: think Chris wall is many of the best in game coach.
- 39:33Speaker 3: I was pulling my hair out for him because just
- 39:37Speaker 3: the showing example, like in the first half, when Miami
- 39:39Speaker 3: was trying to drive the score before halftime, Miami gets
- 39:42Speaker 3: a first down, there's like thirty seconds left before halftime,
- 39:46Speaker 3: and there was just complete commotion and that situation a
- 39:50Speaker 3: coaching kind of step up, and there was commotion for
- 39:53Speaker 3: twelve seconds. So when Miami was out like the like
- 39:56Speaker 3: the twenty yard liner, eighteen yard line, you let twelve
- 39:59Speaker 3: seconds run off and accomplished nothing, and then you did
- 40:01Speaker 3: have a really sick like Grandy Moss as catch.
- 40:05Speaker 1: But they did kind of get bailed out by that.
- 40:08Speaker 3: Yeah, that was just a situation where it's like, dude,
- 40:10Speaker 3: you can't waste twelve seconds there. But it was a
- 40:12Speaker 3: reminder to me as a gambler of I really can't.
- 40:17Speaker 3: I can only blame myself because I know you're Hurricanes fans.
- 40:20Speaker 3: I'm not ripping your team, but christ of Ball is
- 40:23Speaker 3: shown over the years that he's not the best in
- 40:25Speaker 3: game manager, per se. So I really only blame myself
- 40:28Speaker 3: for betting that man. But anyways, with the football, hey,
- 40:32Speaker 3: Notre Dame has two of the best running backs in
- 40:34Speaker 3: the country on the same team, and your d line
- 40:37Speaker 3: did a good job of relatively containment, which is an accomplishment.
- 40:40Speaker 3: If you Notre Dame, you're you're running games only gonna
- 40:43Speaker 3: get better throughout the year. So you know too, because
- 40:46Speaker 3: my one of my good buddies is Irish fan. You know,
- 40:48Speaker 3: a lot of people say Love could be one of
- 40:50Speaker 3: the best running backs in the country, but if you
- 40:52Speaker 3: watch last night, Chris the backup stole the show. So
- 40:54Speaker 3: it's like dude, you have two of the best running
- 40:57Speaker 3: backs to let possibly like that that potential scary.
- 41:01Speaker 1: And that's why I mean they shut him down to
- 41:03Speaker 1: keep those guys under one hundred. Well, you know, I
- 41:06Speaker 1: suppose there was some sacks, so it's probably not under
- 41:08Speaker 1: one hundred. But with neither guy getting the eighty right.
- 41:13Speaker 3: Yes, that that's a win a hunt. Yes, and again
- 41:18Speaker 3: for for defense last year where you were having to
- 41:20Speaker 3: win games forty eight to forty four because cam mood
- 41:24Speaker 3: was trying to save your asset, that was a huge
- 41:25Speaker 3: step in the right direction. So yeah, and again Beck
- 41:30Speaker 3: was just obviously not cam Mooard at all, but he was.
- 41:33Speaker 3: He was a good quarterback that can and he's been
- 41:36Speaker 3: in tough pressure situation games before. And I guess my
- 41:39Speaker 3: last point, just to flip it the car who I
- 41:41Speaker 3: did think was super conservative with the play calls in
- 41:44Speaker 3: the passing. It was raining hard to so that probably
- 41:47Speaker 3: played a bit of a part into it for him
- 41:49Speaker 3: to go to Miami, which is you know, pready.
- 41:51Speaker 1: Conservative last year too, even with a fifth year.
- 41:55Speaker 3: Yeah, I think that's a little bit of their mo
- 41:57Speaker 3: They not fit. Miami is like death valve. But you're
- 41:59Speaker 3: still on the road, which was a good environment last
- 42:02Speaker 3: night in the rain. But the car showed in the
- 42:05Speaker 3: fourth quarter that glimpses of even if Miami is playing
- 42:08Speaker 3: a bit of a prevent defense, that what he can do.
- 42:10Speaker 3: So if you're notre name fan obviously or piss stock,
- 42:12Speaker 3: you lost, but it again, that's not gonna hurt you
- 42:16Speaker 3: too bad because you lost to a tops and team
- 42:19Speaker 3: on the road. So we're happy as sport fans to
- 42:22Speaker 3: watch the game. You especially my friend. I'm happy your
- 42:24Speaker 3: boys are off to one and no start. And yeah,
- 42:27Speaker 3: it was a fun, a fun and joyable game. And
- 42:30Speaker 3: I think, you know, we get spoiled out, Chris with
- 42:33Speaker 3: how good the televisions are. I think what I think
- 42:36Speaker 3: it was poor prey Arden. It's just you really can't
- 42:39Speaker 3: toe nowadays with how they do the camera stuff. It's
- 42:41Speaker 3: like how bad the rains affecting you to they can
- 42:43Speaker 3: give you those side shots. But I think maybe the
- 42:45Speaker 3: weather it was pretty rough. You see the.
- 42:49Speaker 1: Problem they show that is true, or when they show
- 42:51Speaker 1: it by the lights, like the top of the lights. Yeah,
- 42:54Speaker 1: at the top, that's when you can really see it.
- 42:57Speaker 1: You're right, that is a big It was raining way
- 43:00Speaker 1: harder than I thought true, But yeah, I mean it.
- 43:06Speaker 1: You know, remember like the top five or six past
- 43:10Speaker 1: catchers for Miami are not on the team. They're either
- 43:14Speaker 1: a few of them went to the draft and then
- 43:16Speaker 1: to the pros, and then you know, some transfer to
- 43:19Speaker 1: one of them transferred to Bama. I wonder how he's
- 43:22Speaker 1: doing anyway, But you know, like they had, they they're
- 43:27Speaker 1: gonna get better. They're gonna get better, yeah, because that
- 43:31Speaker 1: you know, this is their first game together too. But
- 43:34Speaker 1: Carson Beck I thought he you know, he made a
- 43:37Speaker 1: couple of really just calculated moves in the pocket and
- 43:42Speaker 1: even with the pressure coming, he does have a way.
- 43:44Speaker 1: Besides that one throw that was high where the you know,
- 43:48Speaker 1: Daniel's former LSU guy made a great catch. He would
- 43:53Speaker 1: have more than likely have to play the defensive back
- 43:56Speaker 1: a lot of times in that situation because it was
- 43:59Speaker 1: a high throw as a risk throw. But overall, to
- 44:02Speaker 1: get that dub against a defense like that, which is
- 44:05Speaker 1: one of the better defenses in the country, I was
- 44:09Speaker 1: very very happy. Auburn really handled business against Baylor, and
- 44:17Speaker 1: the former Oklahoma quarterback in a better fit for him,
- 44:24Speaker 1: looked really good. They looked Auburn looks like they're going
- 44:27Speaker 1: to be able to run the you know what out
- 44:30Speaker 1: of the ball. So I did think that that was
- 44:35Speaker 1: going to be a closer game, thirty eight to twenty four.
- 44:39Speaker 1: The closer game, the one that Georgia Tech was I
- 44:42Speaker 1: think six by the time it kicked a six point favorite,
- 44:46Speaker 1: actually turned out to be pretty close. Georgia Tech Colorado,
- 44:50Speaker 1: Georgia Tech, you know, against Miami, against Georgia some other
- 44:53Speaker 1: teams that they showed some promise, you know, of having
- 44:56Speaker 1: a quality year this year, Colorado rebuilding. You could tell
- 45:01Speaker 1: they're trying to change their identity to more of a
- 45:04Speaker 1: run first. I think the offensive line that they have
- 45:10Speaker 1: it does seem like it fits the run scheme pretty
- 45:13Speaker 1: well compared to the last couple of years because they
- 45:16Speaker 1: haven't been able to run. I think last year they
- 45:18Speaker 1: started to run just enough. But this year you can
- 45:20Speaker 1: tell they're kind of leaning in on it. And their defense,
- 45:25Speaker 1: relatively speaking, actually played pretty good Colorado. But you know,
- 45:30Speaker 1: I would say that the young QB that was at Liberty,
- 45:34Speaker 1: there were a couple times, well I would like them
- 45:37Speaker 1: to run more run place for him one and two.
- 45:42Speaker 1: There was a couple times where you're like, dude, that's
- 45:44Speaker 1: like a ten or fifteen yard pickup, especially in a
- 45:47Speaker 1: fourth downy through this one of the end zone. It's like, dude,
- 45:50Speaker 1: go get your first down. Dude, this isn't liberty. You know,
- 45:53Speaker 1: you got to get that first down. So they're obviously
- 45:56Speaker 1: a work in progress too, but I thought they were
- 45:59Speaker 1: a little further along at times when the I like
- 46:02Speaker 1: both of the running backs, so I thought they could
- 46:05Speaker 1: considering home pass happy they've been the last two years.
- 46:08Speaker 1: I actually think they're on the right track rushing the ball,
- 46:12Speaker 1: but it is one to kind of grow on Georgia Tech.
- 46:17Speaker 1: You know, have these sloppy, sloppy play at the start,
- 46:21Speaker 1: and you see this a lot week one, week zero, whatever,
- 46:24Speaker 1: or just the first time you play a quality opponent
- 46:26Speaker 1: or a close game. In a close game, see some sloppiness.
- 46:29Speaker 1: But we see that in week one. You see that
- 46:31Speaker 1: in preseason for the NFL a lot and even you know,
- 46:35Speaker 1: game win and game team, you see that because there's
- 46:37Speaker 1: a lot less time for people to get live reps.
- 46:41Speaker 1: Even when NFL does scrimmages, they're not really hitting the
- 46:45Speaker 1: quarterback or anything like that, and tackling all the way
- 46:47Speaker 1: to the ground. If you tackle all the way to
- 46:48Speaker 1: the ground, there's probably gonna be a fight. So but
- 46:53Speaker 1: you know, to have two fumbles and they had three
- 46:57Speaker 1: all last year or some shit like that, it was like, WHOA,
- 46:59Speaker 1: what the hell is going on? But they were able
- 47:01Speaker 1: to grind the game out. And I don't know, there's
- 47:06Speaker 1: just something about the coach, There's something about this quarterback.
- 47:10Speaker 1: There's just something about this team that I like out
- 47:13Speaker 1: the running back who's kind of a pass catcher too.
- 47:17Speaker 1: I like what they did last year, but they also
- 47:21Speaker 1: have some inconsistency in other games where you're like, wow,
- 47:25Speaker 1: this is the team that beat Miami and almost beat Georgia.
- 47:27Speaker 2: But then they turn around and lose that team.
- 47:29Speaker 1: So it's kind of a wait and see what Georgia Tech,
- 47:33Speaker 1: to see if they could actually win nine or ten
- 47:35Speaker 1: games or something like that.
- 47:37Speaker 2: But it's still on the road.
- 47:39Speaker 1: Colorado is now, you know, a tougher place to play
- 47:43Speaker 1: because you know they have it sold out again. So
- 47:47Speaker 1: Colorado kind of retooling, turning into a running team.
- 47:51Speaker 2: We'll see where that goes.
- 47:52Speaker 1: But overall, Georgia Tech, you know, they they it was
- 47:55Speaker 1: still close even with those mistakes that they had early,
- 48:00Speaker 1: and they started to put it together and and kind
- 48:03Speaker 1: of look a little bit more a form that we
- 48:05Speaker 1: saw last year.
- 48:07Speaker 3: So as you know, to know shock, you've known me
- 48:10Speaker 3: for I suppose like almost twenty years now. I gamble
- 48:13Speaker 3: on sports. The amount of inappropriate words used in my
- 48:19Speaker 3: group chat when I bet Georgia Tech, Oh my.
- 48:23Speaker 2: God, five and a half or what was.
- 48:25Speaker 3: It, yeah, five and a half? Yeah, yeah, And so
- 48:29Speaker 3: thankfully he didn't slide down and take an ego for
- 48:31Speaker 3: a field goal.
- 48:31Speaker 1: Yeah, I bought that for a second, like halfway through
- 48:36Speaker 1: the run. I was like, oh, wait a second.
- 48:39Speaker 3: I know, I know, and that's become kind of a
- 48:41Speaker 3: trend of your thing nowadays. But the sport, thank god.
- 48:44Speaker 3: But then Colo Colorado, I held marry the second last
- 48:48Speaker 3: play of the game that missed by about six inches
- 48:51Speaker 3: or that door to tea, but.
- 48:55Speaker 2: Yeah, you were holding on for dear life.
- 48:58Speaker 3: Yes, there were many four little words used because the
- 49:01Speaker 3: last year, and the announcer said it. Last year, Georgia
- 49:04Speaker 3: Tech had three fumbles on the whole season, and they're
- 49:07Speaker 3: a run happy team. They had two, they had two
- 49:10Speaker 3: in the first quarter, and they had three turnovers within
- 49:16Speaker 3: eight minutes of the game. I was like, because when
- 49:18Speaker 3: Georgia Tech ran the ball. They looked pretty good. I'm like, okay,
- 49:20Speaker 3: we I think I made the right bet here because
- 49:23Speaker 3: Carrado clearly no shock is replacing a NFL quarterback and
- 49:28Speaker 3: the Heisman winner, so you know, there's a lot and
- 49:30Speaker 3: they're they're old line, d line or making in progress.
- 49:33Speaker 3: But they had to replace some people there too, so
- 49:35Speaker 3: I felt pretty good with my bet. But dude, when
- 49:37Speaker 3: you have three turnovers in the first half, you know,
- 49:40Speaker 3: Jesus lord. But to their defensive credit, their defense stepped up. Now,
- 49:47Speaker 3: I did think the Carffs quarterback showed some signs of
- 49:50Speaker 3: definitely having potential. I'm not saying he's going to be
- 49:52Speaker 3: Shador and he clearly does not have a Travis Hunter.
- 49:54Speaker 3: But like you said, I think Carlo played pretty well.
- 49:58Speaker 3: If Georgia Tech played him again this week, I probably
- 50:00Speaker 3: not have three turnovers, so the score might be a
- 50:02Speaker 3: little bit different. But like you said, that was a
- 50:05Speaker 3: fun game to watch. Georgia Tech. Maybe they're you know,
- 50:09Speaker 3: they're probably a sleeper to make the playoff, Like could
- 50:13Speaker 3: they finish thirteenth or fourth like they could be. I'm
- 50:15Speaker 3: not I'm not calling it a lock, but that team
- 50:18Speaker 3: when they're locked in with the running game they have
- 50:21Speaker 3: is legit. I suppose that's their defense play a little
- 50:23Speaker 3: more improved. But that was then enjoyable game to watch
- 50:26Speaker 3: and happy my bet came through, and yeah, hey, Georgia
- 50:29Speaker 3: Tech's just kind of fun to watch because they got
- 50:31Speaker 3: the quarterback, they got the running back. The one's first
- 50:34Speaker 3: name is Haynes, one last name is Haynes. You know,
- 50:36Speaker 3: it's an enjoyable game. And if you're Colorado, you're still
- 50:39Speaker 3: gonna be in the news. You know, Dion is still there. Thankfully,
- 50:41Speaker 3: he's doing good health wise. You know, people love him
- 50:44Speaker 3: or hate him, but obviously as a person, you want
- 50:46Speaker 3: to do to be good. And it seems like health
- 50:48Speaker 3: wise done the right right direction there, like the bladder
- 50:51Speaker 3: cancer is all gone. And I think for him, for
- 50:55Speaker 3: him moving forward, Chris is what kind of coach is
- 50:58Speaker 3: he gonna be this year? Because he had Travis Hunter,
- 51:01Speaker 3: you switch to Colorado, you had some boys come in,
- 51:03Speaker 3: and you know, you had some ups and downs, but
- 51:05Speaker 3: you've had some pretty good, pretty good seasons. But now yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 51:11Speaker 3: and just like he had it priorly before before they
- 51:14Speaker 3: switched to Colorado. So now I think what people want
- 51:17Speaker 3: to see is Okay, now that you don't have an
- 51:19Speaker 3: NFL quarterback and wide receiver combo quite yet. I'm not
- 51:23Speaker 3: saying the kid that played last night couldn't go or
- 51:25Speaker 3: for cards, he can't go. Bro, I'm not sure, but
- 51:28Speaker 3: I think what kind of coach is he like? I'm
- 51:30Speaker 3: not I'm not doubting him either, but right now, but
- 51:33Speaker 3: I think this will maybe for his track record, because
- 51:36Speaker 3: he probably will want to leave Colorado, you know soon
- 51:38Speaker 3: possibly What will it show for what kind of years
- 51:41Speaker 3: Colorado going to have? You know, because you don't get
- 51:43Speaker 3: you don't got the horses. But if you have a
- 51:46Speaker 3: if you have a great year again this year, that's
- 51:48Speaker 3: only gonna make his resume look better. And I wish
- 51:51Speaker 3: him well. And if you're yeah, George Tech, I think
- 51:54Speaker 3: you're an outside outside sleeper for being a contender to
- 51:58Speaker 3: possibly sinking or for the playoffs.
- 52:01Speaker 1: Yeah, the kid he has, he got a really good
- 52:05Speaker 1: young quarterback who's a true fresher right now. He recruited him.
- 52:10Speaker 1: And so my gas is they're leaning all the way
- 52:12Speaker 1: into the run pass, but run heavy, and that's what
- 52:16Speaker 1: this kid probably does. So they're already going because that's
- 52:19Speaker 1: what the liberty transfer does. Right, and yeah, yeah, they're
- 52:23Speaker 1: just they're They're like, hey, you gotta what talent you have.
- 52:27Speaker 1: You got to lean into whatever they can do best.
- 52:29Speaker 1: So that's what I think this whole thing's about. And
- 52:32Speaker 1: I think that the holes were there more than they
- 52:35Speaker 1: have been and it's a big ass, big big line.
- 52:40Speaker 1: Now can they protect We'll find out. It didn't seem
- 52:43Speaker 1: like they could all that well. But the you know,
- 52:47Speaker 1: like I said, their defense got a little bit better
- 52:49Speaker 1: last year, and their run game minor league got better
- 52:52Speaker 1: considering how much they had to rely in the past.
- 52:54Speaker 1: But I like their two running backs. I think they
- 52:57Speaker 1: got something going there. But ultimately we'll see, you know,
- 53:00Speaker 1: I think it's not just this year, it's the next
- 53:02Speaker 1: few years. I mean, if you talk to the experts,
- 53:04Speaker 1: he was gonna be at the Cowboys already.
- 53:06Speaker 3: So yeah, so.
- 53:08Speaker 1: We'll see how that goes. Now, we had the big
- 53:11Speaker 1: ten versus Mac unofficial challenge. Ruggers just barely got by
- 53:18Speaker 1: Ohio Buffalo.
- 53:20Speaker 2: Who actually has a legit defense.
- 53:22Speaker 1: In return like a thousand yard running back, it's good
- 53:26Speaker 1: wide receivers. They gave Minnesota a really good game. Miami
- 53:32Speaker 1: of Ohio and Wisconsin was pretty clear. The seventeen is
- 53:35Speaker 1: z it doesn't quite tell the story. And also just
- 53:39Speaker 1: kind of throwing this in there. It's not you know,
- 53:42Speaker 1: it's Big Ten, it's not Mac. But since he gave
- 53:45Speaker 1: Nebraska all it could handle, and I think they are
- 53:48Speaker 1: like a six and a half point favorite. Nebraska was,
- 53:51Speaker 1: but so they didn't look great. However, they did win
- 53:57Speaker 1: a one score game and so maybe you can get
- 54:00Speaker 1: confidence off of that. So I thought those were really
- 54:04Speaker 1: interesting games, and a lot of them are on Thursday,
- 54:08Speaker 1: you know, all of them around Thursday is the one
- 54:09Speaker 1: I just mentioned it, and most of them were really
- 54:12Speaker 1: really competitive. Thursday night was actually a very underrated night.
- 54:17Speaker 1: But yeah, Rutgers doesn't look like they're gonna be good
- 54:20Speaker 1: on defense. Minnesota had about four or five drops unfortunately,
- 54:26Speaker 1: but the red shirt freshman looked pretty good. He looked
- 54:30Speaker 1: very good. Actually, so he only threw a couple passes
- 54:33Speaker 1: where you or like he shouldn't have taken a sack
- 54:35Speaker 1: in the red zone. He threw like a pass in
- 54:37Speaker 1: the end zone that was questionable, but overall he.
- 54:40Speaker 2: Looked pretty good.
- 54:40Speaker 1: But that Thursday night for the Big Ten wasn't you
- 54:44Speaker 1: know the Big Ten like mid level teams was actually
- 54:49Speaker 1: really exciting and also the earliest game of the night.
- 54:54Speaker 1: South Florida just whooped on Boise State. I'm talking they
- 55:00Speaker 1: beat him down. Marshall.
- 55:04Speaker 3: Yeah, I sadly took Boys in that one. But if
- 55:09Speaker 3: if you want, in the first half, it really actually
- 55:13Speaker 3: was a close game. But yeah, you're a common theme
- 55:18Speaker 3: now if you if you look at Boxer like, dude,
- 55:20Speaker 3: you're on you're on drugs. But no, I know you
- 55:22Speaker 3: say so because Boys actually when in the first quarter
- 55:27Speaker 3: outplayed them and they fumbled in the turnover in the
- 55:30Speaker 3: red zone, and then they were actually going to in
- 55:33Speaker 3: the red zone again and we're about to score to
- 55:35Speaker 3: make their lead bigger, and they fumbled again in the
- 55:37Speaker 3: red zone. And so a game that, again I was
- 55:41Speaker 3: using more colorful words, a game that was you know
- 55:44Speaker 3: where Boys, you probably was the better team in the
- 55:47Speaker 3: first half, but if you have turnovers, then the gates
- 55:50Speaker 3: being a better team, right, Well.
- 55:53Speaker 1: That that you know, you have plenty of time in
- 55:55Speaker 1: the second half to do something. Yeah.
- 55:57Speaker 3: Yeah, And one of actually one of the biggest plays
- 56:00Speaker 3: so the game was when the game was still within
- 56:02Speaker 3: check and I believe it was fourteen to ten or
- 56:05Speaker 3: in that ballpark where boys, who was down like four
- 56:07Speaker 3: points UCF did a fake punt and so they snuck
- 56:14Speaker 3: on their backup quarterback like their new talented freshman kid. Yeah,
- 56:18Speaker 3: but boys didn't. Boys didn't realize it, and so this
- 56:21Speaker 3: kid dropped back drops back to past my as me
- 56:23Speaker 3: as a better I'm like, okay'm gon get the ball back. Cool.
- 56:25Speaker 3: I see this punter throw just a fucking rope. Chris,
- 56:28Speaker 3: I'm like, you gotta be shit me touchdown, you know.
- 56:31Speaker 3: So I was again not happy, but then I heard
- 56:35Speaker 3: the annougers say that, hey, they you know, they suck
- 56:38Speaker 3: a guy on, and hey, to their credit, nice job
- 56:41Speaker 3: a boys, wake the hell up on special teams. But
- 56:44Speaker 3: it just in my head, Chris, I was like, dude,
- 56:47Speaker 3: I've not seen a punter make that good of an
- 56:49Speaker 3: and throw my whole life like this thing. This was
- 56:52Speaker 3: the dart Man. I'm like like, man, I am screwed,
- 56:55Speaker 3: like I have bet in this game. I I just
- 56:58Speaker 3: never believed that, Chris, that the punching they give a throw.
- 57:01Speaker 3: But then you heard a backup snuck on. But that
- 57:03Speaker 3: is hey, sneaky, But dude, someone's gotta realize, like if
- 57:06Speaker 3: you're doing homework on special teams. Hey, if their puncher's
- 57:10Speaker 3: number eight, this dude's eleven. Someone might want to say something.
- 57:13Speaker 1: Yeah, either either make it audible to cover something or
- 57:17Speaker 1: call time out or something.
- 57:19Speaker 3: Yeah, or a red light should be flashing. But there
- 57:21Speaker 3: there was no red lights flashing. Chris, I was just okay,
- 57:24Speaker 3: well no damn so but hey, to their credit, like, hey,
- 57:29Speaker 3: and they they've always been that team that wins seven
- 57:31Speaker 3: eight games a year. They're maybe not quite what they
- 57:34Speaker 3: had when the Scott Frost was there, but it's a
- 57:36Speaker 3: good program. They're they're legit, and they had to despite
- 57:40Speaker 3: what I was thinking about the first half, Hey, you
- 57:42Speaker 3: want Boise's ass, and you had a really good start
- 57:44Speaker 3: to the year and you beat great team at home.
- 57:46Speaker 3: So credits to them.
- 57:49Speaker 2: Yeah, that that was That was really interesting.
- 57:53Speaker 3: I guess the only the only sign of what I
- 57:55Speaker 3: got left, and I believe they chose a tw two
- 57:58Speaker 3: things quickly. One, I've always liked uh got what's his name,
- 58:04Speaker 3: Jeff Brom at Perdu and now he's in Louisville. And
- 58:07Speaker 3: I've always liked Miller Moss who was at USC and
- 58:10Speaker 3: the got bench. Now he's a Louisville. So I have
- 58:11Speaker 3: two guys, I like together. I know it's eastern Kentucky,
- 58:14Speaker 3: but credits of Louisville. I got the Miller Moss and
- 58:18Speaker 3: brom Coma looked nice, so credits to them. And the
- 58:21Speaker 3: only last point I got is hey, K State chose
- 58:26Speaker 3: to play after that week in Ireland, just like Iowa State. Dude,
- 58:29Speaker 3: K State almost had a huge collapse. Like I know,
- 58:33Speaker 3: they lost last week, but to choose the play I
- 58:36Speaker 3: thought was a bit tough because that is a it
- 58:39Speaker 3: is a six hour time difference. So obviously when you're
- 58:42Speaker 3: flying back, you're pissed off you lost and you had
- 58:46Speaker 3: and you had to play a game this week, you know,
- 58:48Speaker 3: because even the NFL Chris, you know, as a Viking fan,
- 58:51Speaker 3: they've been overseas a lot. Normally the NFL left some
- 58:53Speaker 3: pick I'm sure in college you could get on off.
- 58:56Speaker 3: We two K State being North Dakota thirty eight to
- 59:00Speaker 3: thirty five, and they were a twenty seven and a
- 59:04Speaker 3: half point favorite. So you almost lost, which would have
- 59:08Speaker 3: been a disastrous, disastrous start for KSE State if you
- 59:12Speaker 3: lost as a four touchdown favorite. So that Irish hangover
- 59:16Speaker 3: almost got them in. But they were lucky to win
- 59:20Speaker 3: that game. It would have been a really, really tough
- 59:22Speaker 3: start for the boys in Manhattan, start off zero to
- 59:25Speaker 3: two with how the season was going.
- 59:29Speaker 4: Yeah, and I mean those back to back touchdowns to
- 59:32Speaker 4: pull the lead, and they had a turnover on downs
- 59:36Speaker 4: k State but North Dakota back to back touchdowns was
- 59:39Speaker 4: like holy shit.
- 59:40Speaker 2: And then and then they had a turnover on downs,
- 59:42Speaker 2: like oh my god.
- 59:43Speaker 1: But luckily they did force of three and out, had
- 59:46Speaker 1: a ten play eighty one yard drive and ended up
- 59:50Speaker 1: you know, turning them over on downs. So they did
- 59:53Speaker 1: sneak out, you know, with a win. But yeah, it
- 59:59Speaker 1: speaking of going to Europe, do you know the Vikings
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: not only play one, but they play back to back
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: fucking games in Europe this year?
- 1:00:10Speaker 2: Yes, yeah, yeah, yeah, bullshit.
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: Because it forces you to take in in early by
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: you know, obviously true.
- 1:00:20Speaker 3: True.
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: So yeah, people say, oh, you're gonna get you know,
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: a big advantage this second week. Yeah, but dude, you
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: can't tell me being in Europe for two straight weeks
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: is an advantage. I don't give a shit who you say.
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: And no other team's ever had to do this. Just
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: because we draw well over there doesn't mean shit, you know,
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: So we have a short week because we have a
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: Monday night game in an early buy with two count
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: them two games overseas. Man, that really pisses me out.
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: But anyway, back to college football, Yeah, it was a
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: really fun week man. And obviously in like give or
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: take twenty minutes, the last game of Week one and
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: just how they wrap it up to Week zero. Pretty
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: soon Week one is gonna be week zero. I do
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: believe to kind of not have the season go as long,
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: so that's my guess. But really really fun and I
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: think it'll be a good game. I definitely think it'll
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: be a good game coming up tonight. I think it
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: should be. I kind of favorite TCU in that one, but.
- 1:01:30Speaker 2: We'll see.
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: It's gonna be interesting, though. I guarantee the only you
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: know football on tonight that's gonna get a big rating
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: because the Belichick, you know, people are gonna they're gonna wonder.
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: You know, they're gonna wonder.
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: And maybe you think his girl will have like some
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: headphones on and be like playing calling and shit like that,
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: or no, she'll have like a play sheet in front
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: of her covering up her mouth when she talks, you know.
- 1:01:55Speaker 3: So I think the bigger question that ties into women
- 1:01:58Speaker 3: in football? Is that that my fiance told to me
- 1:02:01Speaker 3: today we were talking about Travis Kelsey and Taylor Swift.
- 1:02:04Speaker 3: I was like, I wonder if they're gonna get married
- 1:02:05Speaker 3: and like sneak away and go somewhere private or like
- 1:02:08Speaker 3: have a huge wedding. And then Melvis said, I heard
- 1:02:12Speaker 3: in the media this week they're asking what Travis Kelce's
- 1:02:15Speaker 3: ex thought about her getting engaged to Taylor Swift. And
- 1:02:17Speaker 3: I was like, that has to be one of the
- 1:02:20Speaker 3: toughest questions the world to answer, because normally, I think
- 1:02:22Speaker 3: when the relationship, you guys feel like you're if your
- 1:02:25Speaker 3: xcis will like to take the shots of well they
- 1:02:27Speaker 3: downgraded after me. Imagine Chris, You're like, okay, well what
- 1:02:30Speaker 3: do you think about your new your ex boyfriend getting
- 1:02:32Speaker 3: married to Taylor Swift? Like there's there's no nothing you
- 1:02:36Speaker 3: can say. That question is gonna be a good answer. Yeah,
- 1:02:40Speaker 3: you can't say your man downgrade when he's now dating
- 1:02:42Speaker 3: a billionaire who is like super successful. So yeah, we're
- 1:02:46Speaker 3: catching everything in today. But I thought that was funny
- 1:02:48Speaker 3: and yes, with her, I'm assuming, well she won't be
- 1:02:52Speaker 3: in the sidelines. I'd be shocked. And she was actually
- 1:02:54Speaker 3: on the sidelines.
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: But do think she's gonna have a play sheet in
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: front of her, like covering her mouth, telling who, what, where,
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: Hoiland stuff at what.
- 1:03:03Speaker 3: Maybe she'll be coordinating the dance team. Maybe she has.
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: Maybe they'll go to booth shots.
- 1:03:09Speaker 3: Possibly possibly, I can't wait. You're gonna do a story
- 1:03:13Speaker 3: about like their dating who maybe they broke up. We
- 1:03:16Speaker 3: haven't heard for her for a long time. Who knows,
- 1:03:18Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, so we two is upon us. Like I said,
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: I think, yeah, you know, maybe we could have saved
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: one of these ranks versus rank for week two. But
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: there's a lot of games, like we'd like to say
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: here flying under the radar. We will get into those.
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: But Michigan and I'm not gonna say number whatever Michigan
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: because we don't know the actual numbers just yet.
- 1:03:46Speaker 3: Oh yeah, and today's a holiday too.
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: Yeah. So Michigan at Oklahoma, the youngster true frosh look
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: pretty good. Now they're playing a you know, subpar team,
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: so you can't look into it. But they actually passed
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: the ball more than I thought they would.
- 1:04:04Speaker 2: Because he is a dual threat. It's not just.
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: Run run, run, run, run, and he actually looked pretty good.
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: We'll see, you know, we'll see how it goes. Oklahoma
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: does have a legitimate defense. Both probably do right, Michigan
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: and Oklahoma. But the coach obviously from Clemson formally as
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: the decoordinator, we saw that he can get that defense
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: up and running. But he went out and got help
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: from Washington State, not only the play caller but the
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: actual quarterback, who, by the way, is a run pass.
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: A lot of people think he's just that. They he
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: throws fifty times and that's it. No, he runs a
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: lot too, So it's kind of interesting, you know, they
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: needed I like that in Oklahoma.
- 1:04:49Speaker 2: They're like, hey, dude, we gotta.
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: Try this out. We gotta we gotta do something. And
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: obviously you know the wide receiver talent they had last year,
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: it was just it was what fun of them are
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: out or something? It was crazy. Why so you couldn't
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: really get a read on Arnold anyway. And Arnold, like
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: I said, looks pretty good in Auburn right now. Looks
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: like he found a home. But you know, do we
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: really know how good though? Like we already kind of
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: wonder what Michigan against a quality team and a quality
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: defense on the road, it's gonna look like with a
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: true freshman, Well, this dude's been around the block who
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: Oklahoma has. But you know, I'm just not gonna I'm
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: not gonna look at the stats he put up at
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: Washington State and act like he's gonna do that, especially
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: in the SEC if he's still in the Big twelve.
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: Maybe I think that, But I do think they'll have
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: enough to get it done.
- 1:05:47Speaker 2: But this is a close game.
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: And I think it's sitting around five and a half
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: point favorite. Obviously Oklahoma at home. But what are your
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: thoughts going in this one? Forty five and a half.
- 1:05:57Speaker 2: I wouldn't doubt.
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: If it goes under, I could see, like we've been
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: talking about, a throwback type wanting to run the game
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: and set up big explosive plays. I just I liked
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: when I saw the kid from Michigan. But am I
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: ready to say he can do that against this defense?
- 1:06:16Speaker 2: Not quite yet.
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: But you know, a turnover here, a turnover there, especially
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: in the red zone, or a muff punt or something
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: like that. This game could come down to that too.
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: But I am favor in Oklahoma.
- 1:06:31Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm gonna do the same. I think I got
- 1:06:34Speaker 3: that good family friend from Oklahoma's taking me to tuscle
- 1:06:36Speaker 3: Loosa this year. So maybe a little biased, but I
- 1:06:39Speaker 3: think we're Oklahoma, You're you're kind of hoping for a
- 1:06:42Speaker 3: stronger year. They've had not a huge drop off last
- 1:06:45Speaker 3: couple of years. But I think with Venables now I
- 1:06:48Speaker 3: believe this is his third year now, yep, taking over
- 1:06:52Speaker 3: for Lake and Riley, and like the defense is a
- 1:06:55Speaker 3: mo I do think that maybe last year his defense
- 1:06:59Speaker 3: did improved. But also when you lose your first five
- 1:07:02Speaker 3: string wide receivers, like it is hard to put together
- 1:07:04Speaker 3: even or resemblance of an offense. So they kind of
- 1:07:06Speaker 3: were a hard spot and they had a pretty like ranking.
- 1:07:10Speaker 3: Going back to my SEC schedule ranks, their schedule was
- 1:07:13Speaker 3: pretty hard last year. Not again Florida s but it
- 1:07:16Speaker 3: was also a tough It was tough. It maybe was
- 1:07:19Speaker 3: number one, but it was probably you know, a B
- 1:07:23Speaker 3: plus difficulties. So I think this is just all those
- 1:07:27Speaker 3: games kind of need, like, hey, start the year off
- 1:07:29Speaker 3: two and zero, get a win versus ranked team, get
- 1:07:32Speaker 3: a win at home because Bama they had a lot
- 1:07:35Speaker 3: of tough road games last year, which means I have
- 1:07:37Speaker 3: a lot of tough hold games this year, well shit
- 1:07:39Speaker 3: there and actual well ship this year they actually are
- 1:07:41Speaker 3: going to go to South Carolina, go to BAM, and
- 1:07:45Speaker 3: go to Tennessee and that that's not easy at all
- 1:07:48Speaker 3: because he asked me which one I wanted to go to,
- 1:07:50Speaker 3: So I just remember those three, like those are all
- 1:07:52Speaker 3: three very difficult games. So I think we're.
- 1:07:55Speaker 2: All close to the river too from what I heard.
- 1:07:59Speaker 3: So I I think with with wanted to bounce back one,
- 1:08:04Speaker 3: have your third year be your best year as your
- 1:08:06Speaker 3: your venables and just praying your wide receiver stay healthy
- 1:08:09Speaker 3: with with a quarterback that should be able to get
- 1:08:11Speaker 3: them the rock. Uh yeah, I think this. I think
- 1:08:13Speaker 3: this is a win. And if you're Michigan, like I mean, yeah,
- 1:08:20Speaker 3: are they would you? I don't want to say rebuilding,
- 1:08:22Speaker 3: but I almost feel like, you know, they they had,
- 1:08:26Speaker 3: they had their national title, They've had a lot of
- 1:08:28Speaker 3: guys go pro. I feel that maybe right now they're
- 1:08:31Speaker 3: a little overrated from the ranking. Like I I guess
- 1:08:34Speaker 3: I'm not hearing as much hype about them because like
- 1:08:36Speaker 3: all I've heard is like in the big tens, like
- 1:08:38Speaker 3: you know, Penn State and Ohio State and you know,
- 1:08:41Speaker 3: who knows, maybe Indiana possibly, But I haven't heard that
- 1:08:44Speaker 3: Michigan hype, you know, but but the ranking have some
- 1:08:47Speaker 3: suggests that they should be getting hype. So we'll see
- 1:08:51Speaker 3: kind of like what legit team Michigan is. And I
- 1:08:54Speaker 3: mean every year, though, Chris, there's teams who are ranked
- 1:08:57Speaker 3: eleven to twenty that don't finish the year ranked at all.
- 1:09:00Speaker 2: So even in the top ten, there's usually at least.
- 1:09:03Speaker 3: So I just I want to see it. Like I
- 1:09:06Speaker 3: do think there maybe having a bit of a regression
- 1:09:08Speaker 3: from the national town, which is expected, and that a
- 1:09:11Speaker 3: little bit of the commotion. But yeah, let's just see
- 1:09:13Speaker 3: what they got and if Rokelahoma again, this is a
- 1:09:16Speaker 3: big one because if you lose this one and then
- 1:09:18Speaker 3: you got all those tough SCC games coming, it kind
- 1:09:20Speaker 3: of puts a different spin on your out look on
- 1:09:22Speaker 3: the season.
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: Yeah, and you know, I think last year they took
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: a big step back, So I think they're I think
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: they're on the I do think that last year they
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: just they couldn't their quarterbacks couldn't do a damn thing,
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: so it really limited them. Yes, they had still a
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: solid defense that would have looked better if they had
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: a good offense, and they did have some key injuries.
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: Johnson the cornerback, you know, got hurt. But you know
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: the way they finished beating Ohio State that and then
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: they beat Bama, and Bama had the starting to be
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: that that was a legit That was a legit bowl game.
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: Even though neither of them were in the playoffs. That
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: was a pretty much a legit bowl game. So I
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: did like how they turned the corner late, and like
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: I said, you know, I didn't expect them to pass.
- 1:10:15Speaker 2: As much as they did.
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: Maybe it's you know, instead of during their national championship
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: run where they were hiding everything until they had to
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: do it. You know, I think they were like, hey,
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: let's see what this kid's got. Now. You could even
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: see that with the Gophers, we have a nowhere near
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: the same level of recruit or nothing like that. But
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: instead of just well let's wait, you know, or even
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: like a aler from Penn State, remember two years ago,
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: they didn't want to do anything with him, and then
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: all of a sudden we had to do something. He
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: was very inaccurate and he couldn't do it. And and
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: last year he took a jump not quite big enough.
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: We're going to see if he takes another jump. But
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: so I think they're on the way up. But to
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: your point, are they going to finish the top fifteen team?
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: I don't know. This is a great way. This September
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: is all about let's see where you're at cruit. You know,
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: sometimes the portal works out for you, sometimes it doesn't.
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: So yeah, I just think it's a really good matchup.
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: But I just have to favor Oklahoma because I don't know,
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: they kind of finished off kind of strong. I just
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: I believe in I think they'll be able to move
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: the ball just enough to win the game. But I
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: wouldn't doubt if it goes under the five and a
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: half and just be a grinder type game. Iowa Iowa State.
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: It's tough to say, well, this comes down to a quarterback,
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: because you could have said that the last decade plus
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: for Iowa, you know, and they don't have a fucking quarterback,
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: you know, so you can't just it can't be that easy.
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: But I kind of think that is the difference maker. Now,
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: can Iowa State and the Cyclones stop the punt return
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: or the defensive score or whatever. Remember a couple of
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: years ago where they just kept scoring on defense or
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: punt return. Yes, and remember they had a lead. They
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: had a freaking big lead for Iowa last year and
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: they ended up losing the game. So I got Iowa
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: State in this one, but not come like I just
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: I'm not. It's a three point game, right, so that's
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: not comfortable at all.
- 1:12:29Speaker 2: And they are they're the home team, right I believe.
- 1:12:32Speaker 3: Yeah, I will yeah minus three and a half on
- 1:12:35Speaker 3: scores app but yeah, yep.
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: So it really isn't you know. It's it's basically a
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: pick him game, So I wouldn't doubt if it comes
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: down to some weird safety or something like that, and
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: you know, this chronic kowski or whatever, you know, we'll
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: see if he can do something. He didn't really look
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: all that great. I did see people make fun of
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: like Iowa posting him on like just a little get
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: outside the pocket and dump it seven yards of someone
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: open or something. They're like, wow, look at it. We're
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: a new team, you know. Like it was like, well,
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: that's not really.
- 1:13:12Speaker 2: A great play or anything.
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: But I did see this kid a little bit at times,
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: and I like the potential. I like where they're going
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: with it. And we have seen, you know, the smaller level,
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: the non power teams. You know, the quarterbacks have had
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: success as long as you've been someplace for a while
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: and you've seen a lot of plays. Some people can
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: make that jump. We've definitely seen that. So I'm just
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: just by the hair of the chinny chin chin. I
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: got the cyclones. I'm not feeling good about it, but
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: you know, Iowa to be fair, They're horrible for so
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: long on offense. But they did make like a mini
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: improvement last year. But maybe it was all that running back,
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: you know, I mean, because that running back is a stud.
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: So I like I was stating this one, but I
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: don't feel good about it.
- 1:14:06Speaker 3: You know, if if I could bet that the game
- 1:14:10Speaker 3: will be within a touchdown spread or with the point
- 1:14:13Speaker 3: for the fourth quarter, I would. I would bet all
- 1:14:14Speaker 3: I could on that, because.
- 1:14:15Speaker 2: Yes, that's a great way to put it.
- 1:14:18Speaker 3: This this game is I would if we went back,
- 1:14:21Speaker 3: I bet almost every game for the past twenty years
- 1:14:24Speaker 3: has been within a touchdown. I would say probably seventeen
- 1:14:27Speaker 3: of them of the twenty been close in the fourth.
- 1:14:29Speaker 3: So it's a coin fly, a coin toss. I was
- 1:14:33Speaker 3: Punch's gonna have some great punts, you know what can
- 1:14:35Speaker 3: their quarterback do. Last year was a surprise because they
- 1:14:39Speaker 3: were up like fourteen, they let them one slip away.
- 1:14:43Speaker 3: So I mean, shit, it's it's the same, and mo,
- 1:14:48Speaker 3: I'll just I'm gonna take, I'm gonna take. I will
- 1:14:51Speaker 3: stay with you because I do think that they they
- 1:14:54Speaker 3: recover from last year's sick up the old The only
- 1:14:57Speaker 3: downflall could be is you know, I mean they although
- 1:14:59Speaker 3: well I know you can't even use the travel because
- 1:15:01Speaker 3: they did travel to Ireland. They and they came back
- 1:15:04Speaker 3: and had them off with played last staturage. So I'll
- 1:15:07Speaker 3: take ooa state. But again, if Iowa kicks four field
- 1:15:11Speaker 3: goals with a safety and they win seventeen to fourteen, like,
- 1:15:14Speaker 3: are we going to be surprised though?
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: So I'll copy all the time or something like that.
- 1:15:19Speaker 3: Yeah, now the old Runner's forty one and a half.
- 1:15:22Speaker 3: If you have the balls to bet the over, good luck.
- 1:15:26Speaker 2: Yeah, no, shit, that's for sure.
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: Just listening off a couple of games and we can
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: kind of get into some of them all of a sudden,
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: ucf US, we've both done this now, U SF. You
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: know they used to have a pretty damn good program
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: not long ago. But the Central Florida's kind of thrown
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: US off because they you know, they've the most recent
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: good program. Now they're kind of need to rebuild. But
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: you know, USF at Florida becomes a little bit more interesting.
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: And I remember last year even you can kind of
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: see they run the up and up a little bit.
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: Remember they they challenged Bama until like mid mid to
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: late third.
- 1:16:08Speaker 3: And then they ran up.
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: Yeah, and then and then what two weeks later, maybe
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: a week later or something like that, it was twenty
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: two to fifteen or some kind of weird score with
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: Miami and then Miami blew them out. But I liked
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: what I saw, even though you do make a good
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: a fair point about the thirty four to seven doesn't
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: quite uh, you know, exactly explain it that that it
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: was more winnable than people just box score checking. But
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: still they did put it on them. So that's kind
- 1:16:41Speaker 1: of interesting. Vo Tech if they could find some form
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: of offense might be pretty good, because their defense looked
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: pretty good against South Carolina. They'd let that crazy punt
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: return go that that's where the game just kind of flipped.
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: But they played pretty good there. You know, I bought
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: against South Carolina, but Vandy at Virginia Tech. I think
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: that's good. Kansas at Missoo is a great matchupy middle
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: of the country type stuff. Illinois at Duke Duke is
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: you know, they they are a pretty good program, and
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: now they have another good coach because of course we
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: know Olko went to Texas A and M, but they
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: filled in with the you know Manny Diaz. So I
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: had you know, it's a little bit higher now. I've
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: seen it at like three. I even saw someone at
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: three and a half. But I have Illinois. I made
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: this bet when when some of the second week was
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: still you could bet early some of the games, and
- 1:17:45Speaker 1: so I have a minus two and a half Illinois
- 1:17:48Speaker 1: that I put about two weeks ago down. But I
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: really think it's gonna be like that, like a field
- 1:17:54Speaker 1: goal type win. But Duke on the line of scrimmage
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: is starting to catch up, and we know they can
- 1:18:01Speaker 1: be a pretty solid program. Old Miss at Kentucky. Did
- 1:18:06Speaker 1: Kentucky beat them last year?
- 1:18:09Speaker 3: Yeah? Oh that was yeah. That was not a proud
- 1:18:11Speaker 3: woman for my guy Lane Kiff And that was not
- 1:18:13Speaker 3: a proud moment.
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: And so at Kentucky, sure whatever they all, it seems
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: like they'll always pulling up set every year. But I
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: just think that there's no way they're not going to
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: be focused because your guy would just be like, hey, dude,
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: remember last year, let's go beat these guys. So I
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: don't I like Old missing that game cleanly. I think
- 1:18:34Speaker 1: they'll they'll look pretty good doing it. But Baylor at
- 1:18:39Speaker 1: SMU Baylor, a lot of people were kind of high
- 1:18:41Speaker 1: on them as far as competing in the Big Twelve,
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: and they finished like six and oho or something last year.
- 1:18:48Speaker 2: But they got to go on.
- 1:18:48Speaker 1: The road at SMU, not the easiest place to play
- 1:18:53Speaker 1: coming off a home game. So you got Auburn and SMU.
- 1:18:56Speaker 1: I'm not saying those are killers, but in the non
- 1:18:59Speaker 1: car it's not like Southeastern Milwaukee State, you know what
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: I mean, technical College. You know, it's not just random
- 1:19:08Speaker 1: that school doesn't exist. But like that, I'm looking at
- 1:19:12Speaker 1: those that game, like, dude, Baylor could be in a
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: It might turn out that Baylor has that weird start
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: again and then they pull off the you know, they
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: go on a six and two run or something like that.
- 1:19:23Speaker 2: But I think that's a tough game.
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: So Vandy at Votech, Baylor at SMU, and Illinois at
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: Duke and even Kansas Dude, Kansas at Missou, we don't
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: one hundred percent know what we're getting with Miszoo, you know,
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: and they have another easy schedule. I do think that
- 1:19:41Speaker 1: they're gonna, you know, the next next year. Looked for
- 1:19:45Speaker 1: Texas to to get loaded up like Oklahoma and somebody
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: else get loaded up like Florida, because if not, that's
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: kind of bullshit. But I assume that's that's the way
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: it's gonna go. But I bring that up because Miszoo
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: looks like they have a very winnable schedule this year too.
- 1:20:01Speaker 3: Again, yes, and so I always if you're new to
- 1:20:05Speaker 3: the show. I've always been a USC fan for the
- 1:20:08Speaker 3: past well since like two thousand and two. I went
- 1:20:10Speaker 3: to high school in Alaska and I didn't have any
- 1:20:13Speaker 3: team to cheer for up there, so I fell in
- 1:20:14Speaker 3: love with the Reggie Bush Matt Leonards show. And since
- 1:20:17Speaker 3: that time frame and those guys have left, there hasn't
- 1:20:19Speaker 3: been much to cheer about. But I've also loved Miszoo
- 1:20:22Speaker 3: because my best friend went there. Actually, Chris got banned
- 1:20:25Speaker 3: from Facebook because when he was a freshman at Missouri,
- 1:20:28Speaker 3: there was a Facebook group chat saying we burnt Lawrence
- 1:20:31Speaker 3: to the ground once, We'll do it again. I guess
- 1:20:33Speaker 3: there was like a Civil war beef. So he got
- 1:20:35Speaker 3: kicked out of face for joining the a Zoo. I'm
- 1:20:38Speaker 3: a Zoo football fan club. For Saint, They'll burn Morris.
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: Down again us kicked out of something.
- 1:20:45Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm speaking about a friend. I do not have
- 1:20:48Speaker 3: that stance.
- 1:20:51Speaker 1: I gotta get in credit for that line though.
- 1:20:54Speaker 3: I actually I don't like that stay though, because every
- 1:20:56Speaker 3: time I drive through there when I go home, I
- 1:20:58Speaker 3: always got to play like nine dollars for a hole
- 1:21:00Speaker 3: you can't avoid in Kansas, so they always get some
- 1:21:03Speaker 3: money from you and you forget to pay the toll
- 1:21:04Speaker 3: and actually got a mail the bill this year. Anyways,
- 1:21:07Speaker 3: I don't.
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: Know if Kansas has a state tax. But what pisses
- 1:21:10Speaker 1: me off is those those states is now, we don't
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: have state tax, Yeah, but you have to pay you
- 1:21:15Speaker 1: know that tax or like it's food and clothing taxes,
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: whereas other states that have a state you know, income tax,
- 1:21:25Speaker 1: that they don't have those taxes. It's kind of funny
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: how that works out. But I got a drive on
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: a road and you're, yeah, we already built this fucking road.
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: With our tax payer money. But I don't have to
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: pay you to pay anyway where where. Let's stop there,
- 1:21:40Speaker 1: but yeah, keep going.
- 1:21:41Speaker 3: Sorry, but well, and they're like Canada to where they
- 1:21:44Speaker 3: have their gas stations in the middle of the highway.
- 1:21:47Speaker 3: All right, I'm gonna stop because I'll go, I'll go ransom.
- 1:21:50Speaker 3: But football game, I'm sure form a Zoo. But that's
- 1:21:54Speaker 3: it doesn't make sense to me because I know that
- 1:21:55Speaker 3: Miszoo's quarterback got banged up because I don't know, drink
- 1:21:58Speaker 3: Let's probably left them in too long. They won like
- 1:22:00Speaker 3: sixty one to six, but Maszoo's quarterback was banged up
- 1:22:02Speaker 3: a little bit. You know, KU's got a quarterback for sure,
- 1:22:07Speaker 3: so the mis State, right, yeah, yeah, he was competing
- 1:22:11Speaker 3: for the job. Yeah, so I'm assuming that the Miszoo's
- 1:22:15Speaker 3: quarterbacks s insuration must be okay, But that is a
- 1:22:18Speaker 3: rivalry game. Obviously they were huge ravels back from then
- 1:22:21Speaker 3: when they're in the Big twelve together. But that spread
- 1:22:23Speaker 3: does seem high, and this one, I know the spread
- 1:22:27Speaker 3: is just high, but this does shot me Chris how
- 1:22:31Speaker 3: much they've fallen off. Oklahoma State is plus twenty eight
- 1:22:35Speaker 3: and a half. They used to be like a legit,
- 1:22:38Speaker 3: like top tier B level program. Last year they fell
- 1:22:43Speaker 3: off the face of the earth. But just to see them, like.
- 1:22:46Speaker 1: Didn't they like ten games two years ago something like.
- 1:22:49Speaker 3: That, Yes, and then last year they were the doormat
- 1:22:53Speaker 3: of the Big twelve And to see them as a
- 1:22:55Speaker 3: four touchdown underdog now again, am I saying they should
- 1:22:57Speaker 3: go beat Oregon? No, but the State would have never
- 1:23:01Speaker 3: ever been a four touchdown dog on the road. So
- 1:23:05Speaker 3: I'm not sure what's going on in still Water. But man,
- 1:23:08Speaker 3: that program, just a side note, has really dropped off
- 1:23:11Speaker 3: to what I never would have expected really at all,
- 1:23:14Speaker 3: because pretty much since we did our podcast, since we started,
- 1:23:17Speaker 3: I think where like you said, we're in your thirteen
- 1:23:19Speaker 3: or fourteen, they've always been a legit good team. They
- 1:23:23Speaker 3: need to kind of regroup, or maybe it's just every
- 1:23:25Speaker 3: team has those bad years and it is what it is.
- 1:23:27Speaker 3: But damn, that number just cut me by surprise. Unless
- 1:23:32Speaker 3: there's maybe an Oklhoma State quarterback injury I'm not aware
- 1:23:34Speaker 3: of and a sneaky one for Army or for k
- 1:23:39Speaker 3: State again they're playing Army. Army's got to be pissed
- 1:23:44Speaker 3: because they played Tarlton State, who is like a small
- 1:23:47Speaker 3: school in Texas, like an hour away from where I live.
- 1:23:49Speaker 3: That's nothing to brag about. All. They beat Army last
- 1:23:52Speaker 3: week Tarlton State did, so that was a bad lost
- 1:23:55Speaker 3: person Army team last year who for a while was
- 1:23:58Speaker 3: looking at maybe making the play out because they're like
- 1:24:01Speaker 3: nine to zero ten at all. So I think, man,
- 1:24:03Speaker 3: if you're KSE State, you had you had a tough
- 1:24:06Speaker 3: game in the in Dublin, you almost saw starts coded.
- 1:24:10Speaker 3: Now you got to play an fing team that you
- 1:24:11Speaker 3: can't prep for and you know all they're gonna do
- 1:24:13Speaker 3: is run and chop block you. So yeah, that is
- 1:24:17Speaker 3: an awkward spot. I would I would look to bed
- 1:24:19Speaker 3: Army in that situation because they're gonna bounce back and
- 1:24:23Speaker 3: case State has kind of just been a mid of
- 1:24:25Speaker 3: a funk. So my my gambling pick of the week
- 1:24:28Speaker 3: is take Army plus the points.
- 1:24:33Speaker 1: And uh my, we we talked about a couple of them.
- 1:24:37Speaker 1: You mentioned one too, the against the spread that I'm
- 1:24:40Speaker 1: eyeballing the plus six and a half Kansas.
- 1:24:44Speaker 2: Okay, I feel pretty good about that.
- 1:24:48Speaker 3: Check the quarterback health status, but yes.
- 1:24:50Speaker 1: Yeah, honestly, even with the quarterback, I feel pretty good
- 1:24:54Speaker 1: about that. Because I know, I know the Kansas quarterback Daniels.
- 1:24:58Speaker 3: He's gonna show out, yes, And.
- 1:25:01Speaker 1: I don't know if he can stay healthy for a
- 1:25:02Speaker 1: full season because he almost got banged up in that game,
- 1:25:05Speaker 1: that first game. And then USF plus seventeen and a half.
- 1:25:12Speaker 1: It's one I have questions about. I'm just kind of
- 1:25:16Speaker 1: eyeballing it and I'm gonna kind of bounce.
- 1:25:18Speaker 2: It off a couple of people.
- 1:25:20Speaker 1: And here's some podcasts this week and see if anybody's
- 1:25:24Speaker 1: bringing that up. I hate to like Crown, you know,
- 1:25:28Speaker 1: South Florida, Like they're back, man, here they are, bro
- 1:25:30Speaker 1: It's it's Central Florida all over again. They're gonna make
- 1:25:33Speaker 1: a run. But I liked what I saw, so I
- 1:25:36Speaker 1: gotta at least look at it. And then Vandy plus
- 1:25:40Speaker 1: one and a half, I mean that's a pick him game.
- 1:25:43Speaker 1: Like I don't know, man, I just know a guy,
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: you know, I know Diego. That's what I do know.
- 1:25:49Speaker 1: Now you can make an argument that they don't play
- 1:25:52Speaker 1: as good against like they need to be like a
- 1:25:55Speaker 1: big underdog for them to really show sometimes or last year,
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: but I mean he's on his ninth year or whatever.
- 1:26:04Speaker 1: So honestly, I like that one. I think that's a
- 1:26:08Speaker 1: pretty easy play because it's you know, you don't got
- 1:26:10Speaker 1: many points there. You could probably just you know, you
- 1:26:13Speaker 1: might even do alternative spread and add some and you
- 1:26:17Speaker 1: know that type of thing, so they could still lose
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: by three or something like that. But those are the
- 1:26:21Speaker 1: three that kind of that kind of stand out for
- 1:26:24Speaker 1: me as far as either full on upsets, like I
- 1:26:29Speaker 1: think Kansas and Vandy could pull the upset, not that
- 1:26:31Speaker 1: that would be a big upset for Vandy, but against
- 1:26:34Speaker 1: the spread, that's you know, it takes a little while
- 1:26:37Speaker 1: to get the against the spread where I can name
- 1:26:39Speaker 1: four to six of them or something, but those are
- 1:26:42Speaker 1: the ones I'm kind of eyeballing, you know, coming into it.
- 1:26:49Speaker 1: So yeah, we got a good slate. Like I said,
- 1:26:51Speaker 1: the under the radar unranked versus unranked. Some of these teams,
- 1:26:56Speaker 1: whoever wins these game will either be ranked the week
- 1:27:00Speaker 1: after Week three, or if they keep winning a couple,
- 1:27:03Speaker 1: they'll probably get ranked because these are quality wins that
- 1:27:06Speaker 1: they'll get. You could also upset, like Duke could upset Illinois,
- 1:27:10Speaker 1: so it kind of matters how their quarterback goes. But
- 1:27:13Speaker 1: I just like Illinois experience and how much they brought back.
- 1:27:16Speaker 1: I'm not calling for an eleven one season like some
- 1:27:19Speaker 1: people are with Illinois, but I do have a bet.
- 1:27:23Speaker 3: I remember you telling me this.
- 1:27:24Speaker 2: Yeah, all I gotta do is be eight and four.
- 1:27:26Speaker 2: So yeah, I feel good about that.
- 1:27:30Speaker 1: But yeah, that that that about that about wraps up
- 1:27:37Speaker 1: you know, everything beyond the last part, the last segment
- 1:27:44Speaker 1: of the game. And just because sometimes I have problems
- 1:27:48Speaker 1: locating it because my computer freeze up, Sure could you
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: tell me the game early and then do your preview,
- 1:27:54Speaker 1: like what conference we're in in the game, and then
- 1:27:57Speaker 1: that way I can make sure I open it up
- 1:27:59Speaker 1: in time, because I've noticed I did get a message
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: last year a couple of times in this year that
- 1:28:04Speaker 1: there's like a long pause I'm given.
- 1:28:06Speaker 3: So, oh, yes we're going. We're going with the Big
- 1:28:10Speaker 3: twelve versus the Mac West Virginia, Ohio, three o'clock.
- 1:28:15Speaker 1: Really okay. So another thing is I do see like
- 1:28:20Speaker 1: this time of year it is tougher to find them
- 1:28:24Speaker 1: because a lot of the shitty teams are going against
- 1:28:26Speaker 1: really good teams. So bear with us with that, you know,
- 1:28:30Speaker 1: But okay, West Virginia, Ohio.
- 1:28:32Speaker 3: You say, right, yes, So this is the first time
- 1:28:34Speaker 3: I've ever West Virginia. In part of it is because
- 1:28:38Speaker 3: the fact that Country Roads is my favorite piano barsantra request,
- 1:28:41Speaker 3: which I will be requesting from my bachelor party in
- 1:28:44Speaker 3: a couple of months in Tampa Bay and side note,
- 1:28:48Speaker 3: but also West Virginia, who's had a pretty good tier run,
- 1:28:53Speaker 3: is only a two and a half point favorite at Ohio.
- 1:28:56Speaker 3: I do know because I do bet Mac because I
- 1:28:58Speaker 3: do have issues. Ohio had there a legit good coach,
- 1:29:03Speaker 3: like over twenty years and he left a year ago,
- 1:29:05Speaker 3: So Ohio's going to step back in maction play. But
- 1:29:09Speaker 3: the fact that West Virginia for Morgantown Country Roads take
- 1:29:12Speaker 3: me home, God, I love it all right, I got
- 1:29:14Speaker 3: my quote in that I had to thank you. They're
- 1:29:19Speaker 3: only a two and a half point favorite, So this
- 1:29:21Speaker 3: tells me that West Virginia is going back a bit
- 1:29:24Speaker 3: because I know Ohio is not world beaters. So West Virginia,
- 1:29:28Speaker 3: welcome to the club. This is your first time making
- 1:29:31Speaker 3: the crafty crappy pick of the week over a decade,
- 1:29:34Speaker 3: so you're welcome to join Ohio. I think they've been
- 1:29:37Speaker 3: a visitor for this segment a couple times before, at
- 1:29:40Speaker 3: least once or twice. But this is a big twelve
- 1:29:45Speaker 3: maction showdown. It actually is on ESPNU, so it is
- 1:29:49Speaker 3: rare that you actually get to watch a crafty crap
- 1:29:51Speaker 3: pick the week on ESPNU. But take it in. It's
- 1:29:54Speaker 3: at three o'clock. Again, this is kind of a sleeper weekend.
- 1:29:57Speaker 3: The Mountaineers Chris are favored by minus two and a half,
- 1:30:01Speaker 3: and part of that maybe because their quarterback, Max Brown
- 1:30:04Speaker 3: is questionable and so is their running back. Wow, Ohio's
- 1:30:10Speaker 3: quarterbacks also questionable, and so is their wide receiver. Okay, Chris,
- 1:30:13Speaker 3: I love it. We got we got a big twelve
- 1:30:16Speaker 3: team that's a barely favorite. Both the quarterbacks were questionable.
- 1:30:20Speaker 3: This truly is what this segment is for. Have you
- 1:30:23Speaker 3: found it located the game? My friend?
- 1:30:25Speaker 2: Yes, sir, all right.
- 1:30:26Speaker 3: Take it away, brother, taken away, Country Roads, Take Chris home.
- 1:30:30Speaker 1: You know, I was mentioned that Big ten versus the
- 1:30:34Speaker 1: Mac last week, and you know, I was pretty damn
- 1:30:40Speaker 1: impressed with what I saw out of Ohio last week.
- 1:30:48Speaker 1: So I'm a little I don't know, you know, I'm
- 1:30:50Speaker 1: a little This one is a little weird, but I
- 1:30:52Speaker 1: do think what they put on tape, being like, hey,
- 1:30:58Speaker 1: this team's real like, you can't mess around here, and
- 1:31:01Speaker 1: obviously the odds tell you that that The odds did
- 1:31:04Speaker 1: kind of wake me up. But the more I thought
- 1:31:06Speaker 1: about it, I was like, you know what, though they
- 1:31:09Speaker 1: almost beat Rutgers like that, they were very close to
- 1:31:12Speaker 1: beating Rutgers, and they had a good last season, they
- 1:31:16Speaker 1: won their last at least four games. Looking at you know,
- 1:31:20Speaker 1: last year's stuff, and you know right away, you know
- 1:31:25Speaker 1: last week you didn't mention it because we got our
- 1:31:28Speaker 1: ass kicked. But I should have went with my damn gut.
- 1:31:33Speaker 1: You know, I'm always my gut tells me, but there's
- 1:31:37Speaker 1: just something about blah blah blah. Now I gotta go
- 1:31:39Speaker 1: with my gut, especially in this stuff. But you know,
- 1:31:43Speaker 1: the Rutgers, it's basically the same thing as last week.
- 1:31:46Speaker 1: Because I saw the Rutgers game, so I'm like, wow,
- 1:31:51Speaker 1: you could say Rutgers is more advanced on offense than them,
- 1:31:57Speaker 1: you know, like easily you could say that. But because
- 1:32:02Speaker 1: you know, Ruggers is supposed to have a decent year,
- 1:32:04Speaker 1: they just didn't look like they could stop any But
- 1:32:06Speaker 1: that kind of that kind of puts in perspective that
- 1:32:10Speaker 1: if they can't stop the run, which it didn't look
- 1:32:13Speaker 1: like Ohio could.
- 1:32:14Speaker 2: And to be fair, ruggers.
- 1:32:15Speaker 1: Can run the ball. Yeah, that's the only thing that's
- 1:32:20Speaker 1: kind of scaring me. You know, they gave up like
- 1:32:24Speaker 1: a fair amount of rushing yards. You know, you said
- 1:32:31Speaker 1: both of the quarterbacks are maybe not gonna.
- 1:32:34Speaker 3: Start yeah scores. It says both are questionable, so that
- 1:32:38Speaker 3: that obviously is the dynamic that you know, we can
- 1:32:40Speaker 3: who knows.
- 1:32:41Speaker 1: Yeah, because I saw I just going off the the
- 1:32:45Speaker 1: first name in the last name, it kind of looks
- 1:32:47Speaker 1: like it kind of looks like a little bit of
- 1:32:49Speaker 1: an Italian name, but not really. But Nico I did
- 1:32:53Speaker 1: like the Nico I've seen him play. But I mean,
- 1:32:56Speaker 1: this is Athens, Ohio. Okay, it's not that other Athens. Okay,
- 1:33:01Speaker 1: it's not the other Athens. It is Athens, Ohio. It's
- 1:33:05Speaker 1: gonna be a bright sunny day, sixty nine degrees in
- 1:33:10Speaker 1: Penden Stadium. This one's gonna burn me. But I am
- 1:33:16Speaker 1: gonna go West Virginia just because I think that they'll
- 1:33:19Speaker 1: run the ball enough to just grind out and ugly win.
- 1:33:26Speaker 1: But but I'm nervous. I'm really nervous with this one
- 1:33:30Speaker 1: because you know, I screwed up I didn't go with
- 1:33:34Speaker 1: my gut. My gut tells me. Here, I'm going against
- 1:33:37Speaker 1: my gut again because my gut kind of tells me
- 1:33:39Speaker 1: Ohio looks so good last week considering that they're gonna
- 1:33:42Speaker 1: beat a lesser West Virginia team.
- 1:33:45Speaker 2: But styles make fights, and so I think.
- 1:33:48Speaker 1: That they're gonna be able to have enough success running
- 1:33:52Speaker 1: the ball that West Virginia will win. But the points
- 1:33:56Speaker 1: spread isn't crazy. What is the total? Is this that total? Right?
- 1:34:03Speaker 3: Yeah? Sixty and a half.
- 1:34:08Speaker 1: You know, my gut tells me to go under, but
- 1:34:10Speaker 1: you know it was thirty four to thirty one last week,
- 1:34:13Speaker 1: you know, so that that's over. So I'm gonna go under,
- 1:34:19Speaker 1: and I'm gonna go missou fir Sorry, West Virginia.
- 1:34:23Speaker 3: Okay, all right, yeah, locked in, Locked In. I will
- 1:34:28Speaker 3: play the Country Road song for like two seconds so
- 1:34:30Speaker 3: you don't get in trouble next week if they win,
- 1:34:32Speaker 3: that'd be fun. I won't sing, I'll just let him play.
- 1:34:36Speaker 3: For the alumni battles starting with Ohio University. I didn't
- 1:34:38Speaker 3: know this woman, just obviously the Simpsons were the Simpsons,
- 1:34:41Speaker 3: but Nancy Carwright was the first name listed for Ohio
- 1:34:44Speaker 3: Famous alumni. She does Bart Simpson, so clearly a very
- 1:34:47Speaker 3: famous person. Also, our senior Hall went to Ohio University.
- 1:34:53Speaker 3: O'Neal a famous actor, Ed O'Neill from A Modern Family
- 1:34:57Speaker 3: and other mini shows and movies. Matt Lower as well.
- 1:35:02Speaker 3: And that's about where I drive. And Logan Paul Okay,
- 1:35:05Speaker 3: Logan Paul went to Ohio University.
- 1:35:09Speaker 5: I didn't know that. I didn't know you went to
- 1:35:11Speaker 5: went there? Okay for the first time. West Virginia. The
- 1:35:17Speaker 5: first name listed is Don Knots, who is a West
- 1:35:21Speaker 5: Virginian native entertainer. Okay, Uh, Steve Harvey, I've always loved
- 1:35:26Speaker 5: him on Family.
- 1:35:29Speaker 3: Steve Harvey is my guy, Jerry West Okay, obviously that's
- 1:35:32Speaker 3: a very very famous And Bobby Huggins went there as
- 1:35:38Speaker 3: well as coach there.
- 1:35:40Speaker 1: Uh school under Bobby Huggins.
- 1:35:43Speaker 3: Baby, when you when you got Bob Huggins and and
- 1:35:48Speaker 3: you got Steve Harvey, that dude, I rest If you're
- 1:35:52Speaker 3: a fan of the Simpsons, I apologize, but I do that.
- 1:35:55Speaker 3: And also I want to play my road song for
- 1:35:58Speaker 3: the next week, and I Chris is like Lane Lane
- 1:36:01Speaker 3: Kim for a country roads. I don't know what's worse.
- 1:36:03Speaker 3: I might need a new podcast partner.
- 1:36:05Speaker 1: No, No, I like Counting Roads. I'm not as big
- 1:36:08Speaker 1: a fan as your guy, but I like Counting Roads.
- 1:36:11Speaker 3: All right, all right, all right, anyway to keep Lane
- 1:36:14Speaker 3: Kiffer coming on the show. Uh, Hey week one was incredible.
- 1:36:18Speaker 3: Uh And if you're in Tuscaloosa, Hey, you got a
- 1:36:21Speaker 3: long ways to go or maybe the board needs to go.
- 1:36:23Speaker 3: I'm not sure, we'll see yeah, right, I might have
- 1:36:26Speaker 3: to check the Alabama message boards so we can get
- 1:36:28Speaker 3: back to you on that next week. So hey, I'm
- 1:36:30Speaker 3: gonna keep moving my stuff in my house. Hopefully we'll
- 1:36:32Speaker 3: be done by next week. If not, I might be
- 1:36:34Speaker 3: a single man. The boys are out. Have a good night,
- 1:36:38Speaker 3: piece
