- 0:04Speaker 1: Welcome to Just the Cats with Michael Bennett. Hello, Big
- 0:12Speaker 1: Blue Nation, Welcome to Just the Cast. My name is
- 0:16Speaker 1: Michael Bennan. On this Monday, August seventeenth, rainy day out there,
- 0:21Speaker 1: but I hope everybody's getting long on the highways because
- 0:24Speaker 1: I tell you what, traffic's crazy today and it seems
- 0:27Speaker 1: like by the way, good morning, justin, good morning. How
- 0:30Speaker 1: are you doing today? Sunburnt? But I'm okay your sunburn?
- 0:33Speaker 1: Oh so sunburn? Really? I am? I got how did
- 0:36Speaker 1: you get sunburned? Went to the lake yesterday and it
- 0:40Speaker 1: was cloudy. No, not where we were. It was great.
- 0:42Speaker 1: What lake was this? But toka really because we were
- 0:46Speaker 1: cloudy for the better party here in Louisville all day long.
- 0:49Speaker 2: I would say thirty percent of the time we had
- 0:53Speaker 2: some cloud coverage. But yeah, no, majority of the day
- 0:55Speaker 2: sun was shining bright. Wow, good for you.
- 0:57Speaker 1: I got a lot of sun. Nice. Whose boat did
- 0:59Speaker 1: you go out? And wasn't I invited my mom and
- 1:02Speaker 1: her Yeah I was available. No, I could not. You
- 1:06Speaker 1: could have come, but no I did ever. English class well,
- 1:10Speaker 1: I mean radio show. Okay, all right, so because it's radio,
- 1:15Speaker 1: we just speak bad English. It's what we Do by
- 1:18Speaker 1: the way. That was That was pretty good band by
- 1:20Speaker 1: the back in the eighties. Bad English. Yeah really, Uh,
- 1:26Speaker 1: I'll stop the world and melt with you. That was
- 1:31Speaker 1: well wait, no, no, no, that wasn't bad English. That
- 1:33Speaker 1: was modern English. Bad English. I think was Tom Waite,
- 1:38Speaker 1: the lead singer from the Babies in his own I
- 1:42Speaker 1: don't know, maybe correct it is? Okay, wow, man, my
- 1:46Speaker 1: memory is still good. Uh, every except for names. But anyway, No,
- 1:51Speaker 1: it's just so, Uh you had a good time on that?
- 1:55Speaker 1: So did Yeah? Yeah, I had? I had. Well, it
- 1:59Speaker 1: was a devastating day on Friday. I'll talk about that
- 2:03Speaker 1: in a minute, but I probably should talk about it.
- 2:05Speaker 1: Just get the bad stuff out of the way and
- 2:07Speaker 1: then get to the good stuff because I'm doing my best.
- 2:11Speaker 1: I'm not gonna I am not good because you know,
- 2:14Speaker 1: you know me now, justin going on what three years
- 2:18Speaker 1: coming out? Yeah, So would you consider me an open book? Oh? Yeah,
- 2:24Speaker 1: very much. I think I am. And I don't keep
- 2:27Speaker 1: anything from anybody. And when I'm in a great mood
- 2:30Speaker 1: and people know it, a bad mood, people know it.
- 2:33Speaker 1: And we had a little issue on Friday, a near
- 2:37Speaker 1: dear friend of ours of mine in and especially my
- 2:40Speaker 1: wife Patricia passed away. Uh, and so that was that
- 2:45Speaker 1: was very unexpected, very bad. So our thoughts and prayers.
- 2:51Speaker 1: I don't want to say her name because the fact
- 2:53Speaker 1: that it's it's due to addiction, and uh, just a
- 2:58Speaker 1: beautiful lady lived down in South Florida, known her for
- 3:01Speaker 1: many years. And if I said her name, you would
- 3:05Speaker 1: know her, you would know of the family, is what
- 3:07Speaker 1: I mean, a very very very successful dad. The business
- 3:13Speaker 1: is still thriving today. But anyway, but we loved her
- 3:18Speaker 1: dearly and an addiction is what did it. So I've
- 3:23Speaker 1: always said it's it's it's I know it's difficult to overcome,
- 3:27Speaker 1: but when you have something like that, if if you
- 3:31Speaker 1: just ask for help, you just go. People will come
- 3:36Speaker 1: around and help you from places you never even knew.
- 3:39Speaker 1: At the same time, they don't always want help, no, exactly,
- 3:42Speaker 1: and at the end she clearly didn't want help. And
- 3:45Speaker 1: she was, unfortunately, a beautiful lady just struggling and hurting
- 3:48Speaker 1: and had everything in her life. I mean, just because
- 3:51Speaker 1: you got money in a big house and you live
- 3:54Speaker 1: in Florida and you live on the water doesn't mean
- 3:56Speaker 1: you're happy. So anyway, it was just it's just ashamed.
- 4:00Speaker 1: So we were my house has been struggling with that
- 4:03Speaker 1: over the weekend. So I'm gonna have take another day
- 4:06Speaker 1: off this week to travel down to UH for her funeral.
- 4:10Speaker 1: But anyway, UH, that's the bad part. So let's get
- 4:14Speaker 1: that out of the way. And for those of you
- 4:16Speaker 1: that don't know, please, if you struggle with addiction, please
- 4:19Speaker 1: go with the help. I mean, just if I could
- 4:21Speaker 1: ever employ you to do anything, you could. You don't
- 4:24Speaker 1: have to listen or agree with anything else. I say,
- 4:26Speaker 1: just agree with this, go get help and just ask
- 4:29Speaker 1: because I know there's people out there that love you.
- 4:31Speaker 1: Because she's got two beautiful kids and a grand baby
- 4:34Speaker 1: that just just had that now lost her grandmother and
- 4:39Speaker 1: a mom. So anyway, let's talk about good stuff because
- 4:43Speaker 1: I I I I you know, it's been tough at
- 4:45Speaker 1: our house. I mean it's been Yeah, it's hard to
- 4:48Speaker 1: be happy when something like that happens. But Saturday night,
- 4:53Speaker 1: I was invited to two parties. WHOA my wife and
- 4:56Speaker 1: I were mister popular, yeah exactly, So we had to
- 4:59Speaker 1: kind of go to one party for a little bit
- 5:02Speaker 1: and then go to the next party. So the first party,
- 5:06Speaker 1: it was a birthday part Well, both were birthday parties.
- 5:09Speaker 1: But as you heard me talk about on Sunrise with
- 5:13Speaker 1: Scoots when we did our crosstalk, it was a scree
- 5:16Speaker 1: dancing party. So this young lady turned thirty I've noticed
- 5:22Speaker 1: since she was born, and she wanted to have First
- 5:26Speaker 1: of all, you had to wear yellow, and then she
- 5:30Speaker 1: wanted to do a book exchange as a part of
- 5:32Speaker 1: her birthday. What in the world. Yes, And I hate
- 5:37Speaker 1: to tell you, Michael Bennett does not have yellow. I
- 5:41Speaker 1: don't have. I don't have a yellow shirt. I don't
- 5:44Speaker 1: have anything yellow. You do? Oh yeah, I've all kind okay,
- 5:49Speaker 1: I have nothing. So wearing yellow today? Oh well, yellow
- 5:53Speaker 1: T shirt? You got to dress up a little more.
- 5:54Speaker 1: I couldn't wear a T shirt you could have. I
- 5:57Speaker 1: don't think I have a yellow T shirt. I really don't.
- 6:00Speaker 1: I mean I don't have. I've got pink, I've got blue,
- 6:04Speaker 1: I've got white. That's all I've got anyway. All right,
- 6:08Speaker 1: So I went to a square dancing party. Did I
- 6:12Speaker 1: square dance? No? No? First of all, if you don't
- 6:15Speaker 1: know how to square dance, can you get out there
- 6:17Speaker 1: and start square dancing? Yeah? I mean it's pretty easy.
- 6:20Speaker 1: I think they could have to pretty fast. Wall. I
- 6:22Speaker 1: met the lady that does the calling. That was pretty cool,
- 6:28Speaker 1: and I was telling her, Yeah, my dad used to
- 6:29Speaker 1: call square dancing in Nashville, Tennessee, back in the forties
- 6:32Speaker 1: and fifties, just for fun. I don't know what to do.
- 6:36Speaker 1: And of course there were some ladies that wore the
- 6:40Speaker 1: actual square dancing dress and it's is it the thing
- 6:44Speaker 1: that makes it full out underneath the dress, it's called
- 6:49Speaker 1: a petticoat. Oh, I couldn't tell you. I think it's
- 6:52Speaker 1: called a pettycoat. I was getting an entire dress square
- 6:56Speaker 1: dancing dress education on Saturday night, So that was fun.
- 7:01Speaker 1: How you would describe that? What getting a dress history
- 7:06Speaker 1: was fun? Well, no, I'm talking about the entire party
- 7:09Speaker 1: was fine, Okay, the whole square I listened. I would
- 7:12Speaker 1: have never gone to a square dance otherwise. And like,
- 7:15Speaker 1: I was forced to this out in a farm, a
- 7:18Speaker 1: good friend of mine's farm in Simpsonville. So yeah, they
- 7:21Speaker 1: had big tents and big party and free free food.
- 7:25Speaker 1: Are you getting free barbecue? You're in dagon, right, I'm
- 7:29Speaker 1: in and square dancing on top of it. Come on,
- 7:33Speaker 1: my gosh, man, But yeah, I was does anybody square
- 7:37Speaker 1: dances anymore, by the way, is that I don't as
- 7:40Speaker 1: popular as it used to be. I would think, Yeah,
- 7:42Speaker 1: I don't. I don't think people just dance as much anymore.
- 7:46Speaker 1: In general, they don't. I mean, I could be wrong.
- 7:49Speaker 1: I don't really go out, so I don't know. Oh,
- 7:52Speaker 1: I've gone to parties where the live music is really good,
- 7:55Speaker 1: and you know, Dan yours truly has to get up
- 7:57Speaker 1: there and dance. Oh yeah, I can't sit there nothing.
- 8:00Speaker 1: I don't care how ridiculous I look. I'm dancing.
- 8:04Speaker 2: By the way, Can I tell you this story real
- 8:06Speaker 2: quick from something that happened at the lake yesterday.
- 8:08Speaker 1: Yes.
- 8:08Speaker 2: So one of the guys that is out there with us,
- 8:10Speaker 2: we hang out with a lot. He's a wedding DJ.
- 8:13Speaker 2: That's that's his side gig. He just doesn't DJ's weddings. Well,
- 8:18Speaker 2: we were. He's not familiar with country music like all
- 8:20Speaker 2: of us were that were out there. Well, somehow Alan
- 8:23Speaker 2: Jackson gets brought up. Oh, and so we start rattling
- 8:27Speaker 2: off Alan Jackson songs and he's like, I don't know it.
- 8:30Speaker 2: I don't know what. I don't know it. And then
- 8:32Speaker 2: finally he's like wait. He was like, I do know
- 8:36Speaker 2: remember When? All oh very much, so it's on my phone.
- 8:42Speaker 2: He proceeds to tell us that that is his first
- 8:46Speaker 2: dance song that he plays at weddings, and I look
- 8:50Speaker 2: at him and.
- 8:50Speaker 1: I'm like, that's a weird choice.
- 8:52Speaker 2: He said, you know that song's about nine to eleven, right,
- 8:55Speaker 2: I don't know, it's not. Yes it is, yes, it is.
- 8:58Speaker 2: That song was released after nine to eleven.
- 9:02Speaker 1: Okay, promise I I okay, I'm sorry, I'm fact checking you,
- 9:06Speaker 1: but go ahead checking me. I do it to you
- 9:08Speaker 1: all the time exactly.
- 9:09Speaker 2: But yeah, I just I thought that was weird that
- 9:11Speaker 2: that was his I mean it really, even if it's
- 9:13Speaker 2: not about nine to eleven, it's still a very weird
- 9:16Speaker 2: first dance song, That's what I think, because it's to me,
- 9:20Speaker 2: it's a reflection. What'd you find out? Hold on, You're
- 9:25Speaker 2: not as fast as googling as me.
- 9:27Speaker 1: I'm trying my best. I'm trying to answer all right. Uh.
- 9:31Speaker 1: Released in two thousand and three, Remember When is a
- 9:34Speaker 1: reflective country ballad about the journey of a lifelong relationship. Well, damn,
- 9:42Speaker 1: that's what I thought. I mean, if you go watch
- 9:45Speaker 1: the video, which shows video of them being young, because
- 9:48Speaker 1: they grew up together.
- 9:49Speaker 2: I admittedly have never seen the video. Oh my gosh, man,
- 9:52Speaker 2: now I feel like I'm moral.
- 9:54Speaker 1: Written solely by Jackson, the song looks back at the
- 9:57Speaker 1: marriage at his marriage to his wife Deniece, tracing their
- 10:01Speaker 1: life together from young love and early struggles, through raising
- 10:05Speaker 1: children and growing old side by side. There you go.
- 10:08Speaker 1: I think there is another song you're thinking of by
- 10:11Speaker 1: Alan Jackson that is regarding nine to eleven. I think
- 10:15Speaker 1: there is one more. Oh where were you in the world?
- 10:20Speaker 1: Stop two? That's it right there, that's the one you're
- 10:23Speaker 1: getting it mixed up with oh yeah, that's why we
- 10:27Speaker 1: love you because you were a total idiot. Yes, And
- 10:30Speaker 1: finally I'm right. I'm so disappointed. I have to I
- 10:35Speaker 1: have to text him yeah, which is, honestly, which is
- 10:37Speaker 1: another great song by an Jackson. Somebody put a video
- 10:40Speaker 1: of him singing the other day on stage and he
- 10:43Speaker 1: was leaning back on something. It made me so sad
- 10:45Speaker 1: to see him because he couldn't stand up on his own.
- 10:48Speaker 1: He had to lean back on something to be able
- 10:50Speaker 1: to be up there on the stage and saying it's
- 10:52Speaker 1: just like, come on, man, I hate this old thing,
- 10:55Speaker 1: this whole age getting thing.
- 10:56Speaker 2: Do you remember the song still the one from back
- 11:00Speaker 2: in the day. Oh, absolutely, so he just redid that,
- 11:03Speaker 2: Alan Jackson redid still the one. So he redid it
- 11:06Speaker 2: and like countrified it and did it for his wife
- 11:09Speaker 2: despite his health issues. His voice in that song sound
- 11:13Speaker 2: oh really sounds real. You might have played that. I
- 11:16Speaker 2: haven't heard that yet.
- 11:17Speaker 1: It's great. I don't remember who originally sang that song,
- 11:20Speaker 1: but oh, I really that was back in the seventies.
- 11:23Speaker 1: Uh yeah, terrible song, but but I bet you Alan Jackson, Yeah,
- 11:28Speaker 1: made it even better because that was not a song.
- 11:30Speaker 1: It was very popular but Orleans. That's right, it was Orleans,
- 11:34Speaker 1: wasn't it. Okay, good, nice call there, Listen, I could
- 11:37Speaker 1: talk of this is the well. I shouldn't say that.
- 11:41Speaker 1: I do like talking about UK, but this is the
- 11:43Speaker 1: kind of stuff I just really enjoy probably the most
- 11:46Speaker 1: over anything.
- 11:46Speaker 2: Oh enjoying now because we've only got what two more
- 11:49Speaker 2: weeks of summer radio.
- 11:51Speaker 1: I know. Truth of the matter is, I think the
- 11:55Speaker 1: week before football starts you're studying football, that's when it is. Okay,
- 12:01Speaker 1: is that two weeks? Okay? Yeah? I just I just
- 12:04Speaker 1: love it when we go on random stuff. But all right,
- 12:07Speaker 1: the second party so Vince Merrill's wife decides to have
- 12:13Speaker 1: a surprise party for Vince Merrill. I know there's going
- 12:17Speaker 1: to be some people out there that are going to
- 12:19Speaker 1: criticize me, but he's my friend and I'm going and
- 12:24Speaker 1: he's always going to be my friend. So now, what
- 12:28Speaker 1: did blue represent? Absolutely? Did I wear blue? Absolutely? Or
- 12:34Speaker 1: there u of l football coaches there? Absolutely? And was?
- 12:38Speaker 1: Were there other people from Lexington? Absolutely? I mean it
- 12:41Speaker 1: wasn't just Michael Bennett, the lonely UK fan. There were
- 12:45Speaker 1: other people from Lexington that have remained friends with Vince
- 12:49Speaker 1: and his wife. And but but the defensive coach comes
- 12:55Speaker 1: up to me and I start talking to him. We
- 12:57Speaker 1: had met before, and I gave him a hard time.
- 13:01Speaker 1: I told him, listen, I hope y'all, I wish y'all
- 13:04Speaker 1: well all season, but you're gonna lose the last game
- 13:06Speaker 1: of the year. One of the other coaches comes up
- 13:09Speaker 1: to me and starts talking to me. I said, I,
- 13:11Speaker 1: I listen, I can't wait to watch y'all play. You're
- 13:13Speaker 1: gonna lose the last game. I told every one of
- 13:15Speaker 1: them they're losing the last game of the year. They
- 13:18Speaker 1: all laughed at me. COO, yeah, you gotta have a
- 13:21Speaker 1: little fun. If you can't have a little fun. But
- 13:24Speaker 1: the last two games, like eighty four to seven or something,
- 13:27Speaker 1: eighty four, oh what, oh yeah it is. Oh yeah,
- 13:33Speaker 1: it's been bad, but it was it was fun. I
- 13:36Speaker 1: thought it was funny that I posted the video. If
- 13:39Speaker 1: you haven't seen it, you can go see it at
- 13:41Speaker 1: just Cat Radio or you can find me on Michael
- 13:44Speaker 1: Bennett on Facebook and watch the video of him thanking
- 13:48Speaker 1: all of his friends, coming, family, coming in beautiful cake
- 13:52Speaker 1: that his wife Rene had bought and uh. And then
- 13:55Speaker 1: of course we just got to win that first game
- 13:57Speaker 1: of the year. I mean, it's such a football that
- 14:01Speaker 1: he's not even worried about it being his birthday number one,
- 14:04Speaker 1: a surprise birthday number two, and all this was arranged
- 14:09Speaker 1: by his wife that the first thing out of his
- 14:12Speaker 1: mouth has to be well, we just got to win
- 14:15Speaker 1: that first football game. And of course their first football
- 14:17Speaker 1: game is Old Miss down in Nashville. That's gonna be fun.
- 14:21Speaker 1: I think it's going to be a great game. Now,
- 14:23Speaker 1: do I think it's going to be close. Let's be
- 14:25Speaker 1: honest about this. Take the bias out. Do you think
- 14:29Speaker 1: the UK, the U of L Old Miss game is
- 14:32Speaker 1: going to be close for two and a half quarters, Yes,
- 14:37Speaker 1: and then what happens? Then Old missile separate themselves. I
- 14:41Speaker 1: cannot feel the same game. I see them winning by
- 14:44Speaker 1: ten thirteen somewhere in there. Oh really, I kind of
- 14:46Speaker 1: see it by more, truthfully, But you never know. Did
- 14:50Speaker 1: you think U of L was going to go down
- 14:51Speaker 1: to Miami and beat Miami? I didn't. I thought they
- 14:54Speaker 1: would have lost at least by two or three touchdowns.
- 14:57Speaker 1: And they go down there and win a So you
- 14:59Speaker 1: never know what's gonna happen. Listen, you can love or
- 15:03Speaker 1: dislike Jeff Brown. I happen to like the guy. I
- 15:06Speaker 1: know he's at U L, but I like him. I
- 15:10Speaker 1: think he's a great coach. Now, if anybody could do it,
- 15:13Speaker 1: possibly they could. I just don't know because I don't
- 15:15Speaker 1: know what their team is. I don't know what it
- 15:18Speaker 1: consists of or anything. And the year. Yeah, but is
- 15:22Speaker 1: that right? Is it? Yeah? It's all opinion. So listen,
- 15:28Speaker 1: you could say, Ohio State's top five, for which they
- 15:32Speaker 1: are exactly, but are they? We don't know. How When
- 15:36Speaker 1: they play the Hoosiers, oh boy, here we go again.
- 15:40Speaker 1: All right then? But anyway, I had fun square Anson
- 15:43Speaker 1: was fun that we ran downtown for this party. But yeah,
- 15:46Speaker 1: we went to this bar. It was a rooftop bar
- 15:49Speaker 1: in one of the hotels, one of the new hotels downtown.
- 15:52Speaker 1: It was really not I don't remember the name of
- 15:54Speaker 1: the hotel it was down there, I am off of market.
- 15:59Speaker 1: It was really nice and a fun look. But it
- 16:03Speaker 1: was hot. No. Yeah, God was like nine eight thirty
- 16:06Speaker 1: nine o'clock and it was still burning hot outside. This
- 16:09Speaker 1: this weekend was brutal. It was brutal. How is the
- 16:12Speaker 1: water temperature, by the way, incredible? It was perf.
- 16:16Speaker 2: Now I got my mom's pool on Saturday night and
- 16:19Speaker 2: that was like I had just hopped into a bathtub.
- 16:22Speaker 1: Yeah, but no, the lake water was perf? Was it really? Okay?
- 16:26Speaker 1: All right, then, uh meet the teen day. I well,
- 16:29Speaker 1: we'll take a break first. Should we take a break first?
- 16:31Speaker 1: Or now, let's let's what do you think? Let's break?
- 16:33Speaker 1: You want to break? Okay? All right, we'll break on
- 16:35Speaker 1: time just for justin to make him happy. I'm not
- 16:38Speaker 1: telling you. I lose concentration after sixteen minutes. Sixteen minutes
- 16:42Speaker 1: really why, because that's how long a segment should be.
- 16:45Speaker 1: A segment should be sixteen minutes? Is that how long?
- 16:49Speaker 1: Because we have twelve minutes a break. Oh so I
- 16:52Speaker 1: never realized that. I always thought it's twenty minutes. But no,
- 16:55Speaker 1: you're right because you got the commercials. Yep, okay, all right.
- 16:59Speaker 1: When we hit that sixteen minute mark, I start faith
- 17:01Speaker 1: you're done. Okay, all right? Then why I apologize? I
- 17:04Speaker 1: don't want you to fade of all people, that's the
- 17:05Speaker 1: last thing I want to happen sun Poison Ivy. Did
- 17:10Speaker 1: that help with the Ufore? We are in a great spot.
- 17:13Speaker 1: We are for it? Fine, a lie because I need
- 17:16Speaker 1: the Poison Ivy update. Haven't haven't, don't really itch anymore?
- 17:20Speaker 1: All right now, it's just all dry five two three
- 17:22Speaker 1: eight four fourteen fifty. If you want to call in
- 17:24Speaker 1: five o two four one four fourteen fifty, you want
- 17:27Speaker 1: to text in on the whisky t text line, tweet
- 17:29Speaker 1: me at just a cat ray. Plus we're on YouTube.
- 17:31Speaker 1: You can go check us out as at Big X
- 17:36Speaker 1: Sports Radio Louisville and you can see us here. But uh,
- 17:39Speaker 1: you're right, it is a little quiet today. What's going on?
- 17:42Speaker 1: Sleeping in? It? Is it sleeping in? Or is it
- 17:45Speaker 1: because they're now in school? Oh? Maybe that too, because
- 17:49Speaker 1: does it UK start I think today, I believe you
- 17:54Speaker 1: case starts today in U of l's next week or
- 17:56Speaker 1: something like that. Now move in or maybe it's moving day. Okay,
- 18:00Speaker 1: that's what it is. It's moving day for everybody. Yeah,
- 18:03Speaker 1: they got a new blanding and it's no longer a tower.
- 18:08Speaker 1: But in Kerwin you don't even know. You don't If
- 18:10Speaker 1: I said Kerwin tower, that means nothing to you. Tell German.
- 18:14Speaker 1: I know. That's my my first dorm at UK, which
- 18:18Speaker 1: was horrible. But yeah, I was on the twenty I
- 18:21Speaker 1: think the twenty twenty first floor something like that. I
- 18:24Speaker 1: was on the top floor dorm, in a dorm. That's awesome.
- 18:28Speaker 1: It was, no, it was terrible well for moving and
- 18:30Speaker 1: move out day, I'm sure that. And then if you
- 18:32Speaker 1: had a like eight or nine o'clock class you couldn't
- 18:34Speaker 1: get an elevator. True, it was miserable. So I was
- 18:38Speaker 1: in and out of there. It's a lot of floors
- 18:39Speaker 1: for a dorm, it was. I think the highest one
- 18:42Speaker 1: at IU is maybe eight stories. Really well, what was
- 18:45Speaker 1: so cool? You could see the dorms right because they
- 18:48Speaker 1: were close to CommonWell Stadium and then back in the
- 18:51Speaker 1: seventies and eighties. I don't know if they did. In
- 18:54Speaker 1: the nineties, they would have the students leave on lights
- 18:58Speaker 1: in certain dorm rooms, so it would say in one
- 19:01Speaker 1: dorm go and then the other one, or it was
- 19:04Speaker 1: it just uk. I think it just said you and
- 19:06Speaker 1: then k. It was really cool out of the dorms.
- 19:09Speaker 1: That is cool. Yeah, So anyway, I always love that.
- 19:11Speaker 1: So all right, I'm sorry, we've gone now twenty minutes,
- 19:15Speaker 1: so we'll take a break. Fable two three four fourteen
- 19:17Speaker 1: fifty five two four one four fourteen fifty let me
- 19:20Speaker 1: hear fhimby stay right there a lot more just guy's coming.
- 19:23Speaker 3: Up for me, said nineteen said, you see, we ben to.
- 19:54Speaker 1: Give a sense we'll we're back when Wow.
- 19:58Speaker 2: Sometimes I like get already that.
- 20:06Speaker 1: I want you after all these and you know West,
- 20:21Speaker 1: I want to talk to Okay, this is awesome version
- 20:25Speaker 1: right there, so good. I love you. Well. You know,
- 20:28Speaker 1: I'm not much of a count music fan. I love
- 20:31Speaker 1: Alan Jackson, I've always loved certain singers Alan Jackson, Brooks
- 20:36Speaker 1: and Dunn. I know there's other ones out there that
- 20:40Speaker 1: I always really like. But man, that's awesome because I
- 20:44Speaker 1: could not stand that song really oh I I did. Yeah,
- 20:48Speaker 1: it was. It was not one of my more faith
- 20:51Speaker 1: I love his version, Yeah, it's it's It is funny
- 20:54Speaker 1: where when you hear a particular song and uh, and
- 20:58Speaker 1: then you hear it remade, it's like, wow, that's really good.
- 21:02Speaker 1: Like all right, I'll tell you another one that that's
- 21:07Speaker 1: come under a lot of controversy, and that's Tracy uh
- 21:12Speaker 1: what's her name, Tracy something Chapman that's saying the car,
- 21:19Speaker 1: fast car. And then the country guy that came out
- 21:22Speaker 1: with it. I like his version a thousand times more.
- 21:27Speaker 1: Nothing against Tracy Chapman, but they played that song so much.
- 21:32Speaker 1: It's just like, God, can we hear something else? I
- 21:34Speaker 1: don't even think it's that good. But then when the
- 21:37Speaker 1: who's the country music singer that came out with is
- 21:40Speaker 1: that Luke Combs? Okay, I didn't know that, and I
- 21:44Speaker 1: thought his version was a thousand times Can I ask
- 21:47Speaker 1: a random question to you, when you're anxious, is there
- 21:51Speaker 1: something you do that is like, okay, I gotta stop. Like,
- 21:56Speaker 1: for instance, there are people that eat when they're anxious.
- 22:00Speaker 1: I'm guilty of that. I'm a picker, meaning when when
- 22:06Speaker 1: my anxieties through the roof I tend to start picking
- 22:10Speaker 1: at my face or my skin or anything like that.
- 22:12Speaker 1: Are you not that way?
- 22:14Speaker 2: If if there's anything that I do, maybe it's I'll
- 22:17Speaker 2: bite my nails, you'll bite your nails.
- 22:19Speaker 1: That's a disgusting version, Yes, very much. So that's really
- 22:23Speaker 1: the only thing, is it, really? Yeah, biting your nails,
- 22:27Speaker 1: picking my skin, all of that is so bad for you.
- 22:29Speaker 1: I've never bitten my nails. I don't know. I just
- 22:33Speaker 1: always was kind of grossed at. I don't know, when
- 22:36Speaker 1: I was younger, you bit your nails all the time. Yeah,
- 22:40Speaker 1: this whole poison ivy thing. You've been a picker. Yeah. Yeah,
- 22:44Speaker 1: And it looks so much better now, by the way
- 22:47Speaker 1: you just showed me during the break and you look
- 22:49Speaker 1: completely different. I'm glad by the way. Uh meet the
- 22:53Speaker 1: teen days seem to be a really big success. I
- 22:56Speaker 1: haven't seen the numbers yet. I've seen a lot of
- 22:59Speaker 1: the pictures in VI. I wasn't able to go, and
- 23:02Speaker 1: it looked like a good crowd there. Did you see it?
- 23:06Speaker 2: The number of pictures that I saw, I couldn't really
- 23:09Speaker 2: see the crowd. Yeah, so I couldn't tell one way
- 23:13Speaker 2: or the other.
- 23:13Speaker 1: Yeah, it looked like a pretty good crowd there for
- 23:15Speaker 1: will Stein's first event before the season. The only thing
- 23:19Speaker 1: that will Stein was not happy with was how the
- 23:23Speaker 1: offensive team was looked pretty sluggish, he said. He said,
- 23:28Speaker 1: the defense looked good, but a lot of people are
- 23:31Speaker 1: blaming the heat, and I can get that. Can you
- 23:34Speaker 1: imagine being out there in full pads? No? I can't either. Well,
- 23:39Speaker 1: first of all, I can't imagine being out there in
- 23:41Speaker 1: a T shirt and shorts, But but then you add
- 23:44Speaker 1: the pads, football pants, jersey, everything else in a helmet.
- 23:49Speaker 1: I man, I respected them out there that are able
- 23:52Speaker 1: to get to play football, But my goodness, that not
- 23:58Speaker 1: me either. But anyway, I know that, he commented quite
- 24:03Speaker 1: a bit how disappointed he was. Now is that a
- 24:08Speaker 1: good thing or bad thing? It's happening three weeks out
- 24:10Speaker 1: before the season starts. I don't think it's good or
- 24:16Speaker 1: bad one way or the other. Yeah, I don't think
- 24:18Speaker 1: it really matters. You know, it's coach being a coach.
- 24:21Speaker 1: They're always going to complain about something, aren't they? More coaches?
- 24:26Speaker 1: More times than not. Don't head coaches complain about their
- 24:29Speaker 1: team more than give it positive feedback? I don't know.
- 24:36Speaker 2: It's tough to say, I would say, maybe so, but
- 24:38Speaker 2: that's I don't isn't most of the time that just
- 24:42Speaker 2: used as a motivation factor for you place?
- 24:44Speaker 1: That's what I feel like Nick Saban? Did he ever
- 24:46Speaker 1: compliment his team? Very few times? If I remember correctly?
- 24:53Speaker 1: You know, you're I.
- 24:54Speaker 2: Mean because I'm trying to think about Signetti in the
- 24:58Speaker 2: way that he talks, because he's he's very much, very
- 25:01Speaker 2: much like Saban. Yes, and you're right, he doesn't really
- 25:05Speaker 2: ever compliment the team. It's more always about what do
- 25:09Speaker 2: we have to do to get better?
- 25:10Speaker 1: Yeah? And why is that? Why can't he say these
- 25:14Speaker 1: are the things we did really well. You don't want complacency? Oh?
- 25:17Speaker 1: Is that what it is? You think that they say something,
- 25:20Speaker 1: a coach says something nice about a team, they'll get complacent.
- 25:23Speaker 1: Maybe because I kind of felt like Mark Pope was
- 25:26Speaker 1: a little negative last year, and because he seems to
- 25:32Speaker 1: be one of the more positive coaches out there, I'm
- 25:35Speaker 1: trying to think who Dan Hurley I think is one
- 25:38Speaker 1: of the more negative coaches. He's constantly criticizing his team,
- 25:43Speaker 1: and if not his team, the officials, Oh are that too?
- 25:46Speaker 1: Or the fans the opposing team fans Kirby smart, I
- 25:50Speaker 1: think complains a lot. Who are the more positive coaches
- 25:54Speaker 1: out there? Can you name a positive coach? I think
- 25:58Speaker 1: Harball is one of the more negative coaches. Jim or
- 26:02Speaker 1: John Jim, maybe John too? Is he not the same?
- 26:08Speaker 1: I think Jim is more critical than John, though John.
- 26:11Speaker 1: I don't think John talks as much. Yeah, is there
- 26:15Speaker 1: any positive coaches you can think about?
- 26:20Speaker 2: I mean I would have said, I would say, like
- 26:21Speaker 2: a guy like Dusty May seemed pretty positive.
- 26:24Speaker 1: Oh, Dusty May's a good one. I can't think. I
- 26:29Speaker 1: can't think of any either. I mean Rick John, Oh,
- 26:36Speaker 1: I think you're right about that. We're gonna see more
- 26:38Speaker 1: positive with that. I think the one that probably because
- 26:42Speaker 1: here's a difference between giving uh healthy criticism and then crying.
- 26:48Speaker 1: And I think uh Dabo Sweeney. If I if I
- 26:53Speaker 1: was to put down the coaches that cry the most,
- 26:56Speaker 1: I think Dabo Sweeney is probably the biggest cry in
- 26:59Speaker 1: all of college football. I'd agree with that. And I'm
- 27:02Speaker 1: trying to figure out who would be. You think so
- 27:05Speaker 1: he hasn't been as vocal the last year or two. Oh.
- 27:10Speaker 1: I don't know if I agree with that, but I
- 27:11Speaker 1: think he realizes maybe that his vocalness is starting to
- 27:15Speaker 1: be a negative to him, and that even the Clemson
- 27:19Speaker 1: fan base is getting tired of him. I mean, let's
- 27:22Speaker 1: think locally. Uh, well, Cal, I mean, what was Cal like?
- 27:27Speaker 1: Cal was a bit of a complainer, wasn't he? Oh yeah,
- 27:31Speaker 1: Ora Williams was a bit of a complainer. I'm thinking basketball. Now,
- 27:35Speaker 1: let's think about football. I think Hypel Josh Hypel at
- 27:39Speaker 1: Tennessee is a bit of a el. I drink what
- 27:41Speaker 1: who you love? Yes, exactly. He's a definite complainer. But
- 27:47Speaker 1: I think if I'm right, going to give you the
- 27:51Speaker 1: top complainer in the SEC as far as college football,
- 27:56Speaker 1: I'm gonna say Lane Kiffin is number one. I'd agree
- 28:00Speaker 1: with that, and the least well, you can't really say
- 28:05Speaker 1: because there's so many new ones. I'm right there, probably
- 28:07Speaker 1: with you with John summerl Eck. Throw will Stein in
- 28:12Speaker 1: there as well. At this point, Yeah, I mean, you
- 28:14Speaker 1: don't really have anything to say. He hasn't been a
- 28:16Speaker 1: head coach yet, he hasn't played a game yet, So
- 28:20Speaker 1: as far as being a head coach, let's just see
- 28:22Speaker 1: how it plays out. But what would you predict as
- 28:25Speaker 1: far as will Stein? Would you say he's going to
- 28:28Speaker 1: be more of a critical thinker that is going to
- 28:31Speaker 1: be giving positive criticism, or do you think he's going
- 28:36Speaker 1: to be giving criticism because it sure seemed like he
- 28:40Speaker 1: was criticizing a lot about the offenses past Saturday. How
- 28:44Speaker 1: do you think he'll be on postgame interviews?
- 28:47Speaker 2: I mean there's a fine line there. Yeah, I mean,
- 28:51Speaker 2: you have to be positive, because that's just going through
- 28:54Speaker 2: life every day with a positive attitude just changes so
- 28:57Speaker 2: much surrounding your life. Right, But this same time, if
- 29:00Speaker 2: you if there's a spot where you need to be critical,
- 29:02Speaker 2: you also have to be able to do that. So
- 29:04Speaker 2: there's to me, you have to be able to balance
- 29:07Speaker 2: both of those things. And that's a tough balance, especially
- 29:10Speaker 2: when you're in the heat of the moment. And he
- 29:13Speaker 2: clearly was not happy with play on the offensive side
- 29:15Speaker 2: on Saturday. So now let's see what's going to be
- 29:17Speaker 2: like on game day. And because I think for the
- 29:20Speaker 2: most part, he's been nothing but positive when he's been uh,
- 29:25Speaker 2: when he's been here at UK, I think it's and
- 29:28Speaker 2: that's what has attracted him to so many people, players
- 29:31Speaker 2: and fan base alike that really like how he acts.
- 29:35Speaker 2: Do you buy into any of the outside narrative that
- 29:38Speaker 2: Kentucky should be on upset a walk upset watch that
- 29:41Speaker 2: first week.
- 29:42Speaker 1: Oh, the CBS report, I thought that was ridiculous. No,
- 29:47Speaker 1: even even we were talking about that Saturday night with
- 29:50Speaker 1: a couple of the U of L football coaches and
- 29:52Speaker 1: they were laughing about that, this is ridiculous. So no,
- 29:56Speaker 1: I don't think so. I think that was just clickbait.
- 30:00Speaker 1: I don't see how anybody could say other than I
- 30:04Speaker 1: think they're just they haven't paid attention to the UK,
- 30:07Speaker 1: and it's like, well, UK's got a new coach and
- 30:08Speaker 1: they knew everything. I think let's just put them on
- 30:11Speaker 1: that list. They don't know anything other than those facts
- 30:15Speaker 1: right there. They haven't paid attention to the players or
- 30:18Speaker 1: anything else. So it was it was more clickbait and
- 30:22Speaker 1: the fact that those guys were pretty uneducated as far
- 30:25Speaker 1: as UK football.
- 30:26Speaker 2: I mean, if it were anybody but Youngstown State, like
- 30:29Speaker 2: if you would have thrown out a smaller school that
- 30:32Speaker 2: had actually had success the last hand full of years,
- 30:35Speaker 2: and maybe I'd buy into it, But yeah, Youngstown.
- 30:38Speaker 1: No. I mean the last time that was pretty close
- 30:40Speaker 1: was the EKU game and then the UK came back
- 30:44Speaker 1: to win, so I don't know. Let's get to the
- 30:46Speaker 1: whiskey thief text line five two four to one four
- 30:48Speaker 1: fourteen fifty. Hey, Michael and Justin. This is Darryl from Paducah.
- 30:54Speaker 1: I haven't been able to listen to the show much
- 30:56Speaker 1: at all in the past week. I hate to bring
- 30:58Speaker 1: the mood down, but I have low not just one,
- 31:01Speaker 1: but both of my parents within five days apart. It's
- 31:04Speaker 1: been the worst week ever. If you and the listeners
- 31:08Speaker 1: could keep me in your thoughts, i'd appreciate it. So
- 31:10Speaker 1: sorry to hear that. Sorry to hear yeah, I am
- 31:13Speaker 1: too sorry about that. Darryl. Daryl's the guy that plays
- 31:16Speaker 1: the music, so I remember that. So but yeah, that's hot.
- 31:20Speaker 1: That's really hard. Last week was terrible. I mean for
- 31:23Speaker 1: a lot of us right there. Uh but yeah. That
- 31:27Speaker 1: and what happened in Lexington over the weekend with the shooting,
- 31:31Speaker 1: Oh yeah, that was terrible. And I'm like, I don't
- 31:35Speaker 1: I didn't read too much into that. What was that
- 31:37Speaker 1: all about? Evidently somebody went and shot a bunch of
- 31:39Speaker 1: people and like four or five people, one passed away.
- 31:42Speaker 1: I don't know how the other ones are doing it,
- 31:44Speaker 1: but like a bar I I don't know, all of
- 31:47Speaker 1: a sudden, I see on Facebook and Twitter you got
- 31:51Speaker 1: people saying prayers for Lexington. I'm like, oh, something's going on.
- 31:55Speaker 1: And then I don't know where this Oh it was
- 31:57Speaker 1: in a park. Okay, yeah, I think around a little
- 32:02Speaker 1: community park or something like that is where it happened.
- 32:04Speaker 1: You didn't go to a park anymore. You can't do
- 32:07Speaker 1: anything safe anymore, so which is really a shame. But
- 32:11Speaker 1: sorry to hear that. So, Darryl, I'm sorry to hear
- 32:13Speaker 1: your situation is what is the stream down? How can
- 32:17Speaker 1: we listen streams down? I don't know. We'll check it
- 32:22Speaker 1: out right now. So, oh my god, I got like
- 32:26Speaker 1: four text about it? Oh really? Okay, all right then,
- 32:32Speaker 1: so sorry about the stream. Well now explains why we
- 32:37Speaker 1: don't have it? Okay, well go, that would definitely explain
- 32:40Speaker 1: the slower text morning. Oh really okay, Josh texted. I
- 32:45Speaker 1: lost my stepbrother to addiction a little over a year
- 32:48Speaker 1: ago after my stepdad passed away from lung cancer. He
- 32:52Speaker 1: was able to He was also going through a divorce.
- 32:54Speaker 1: My stepbrother was a hard working dude that was just
- 32:57Speaker 1: looking for something to take the pain away. Fraily and
- 33:01Speaker 1: God had other plans. He's been gone for twelve years now.
- 33:04Speaker 1: As far as the heat goes, we went to the
- 33:08Speaker 1: Bats game Saturday night, and it felt hotter after the
- 33:11Speaker 1: sun went down nine thirty at night. Felt like you
- 33:14Speaker 1: were sitting in a bowl of pea soup. Wow, that
- 33:18Speaker 1: sounds disgusting, Josh, But it did feel hotter though. And
- 33:22Speaker 1: by the way, Josh, I'm sorry for you lost to
- 33:23Speaker 1: your stepbrother. So anyway, but yeah, that's that's crazy. It was.
- 33:28Speaker 1: It did as soon as the sun went down. And
- 33:31Speaker 1: I don't know what all was happening in downtown Louisville,
- 33:33Speaker 1: but downtown Louisville Saturday night was hopping. Oh my gosh,
- 33:37Speaker 1: there was traffic everywhere. I don't know what was happening. Huh,
- 33:41Speaker 1: somebody at the Elm Center. I don't know if there was.
- 33:45Speaker 1: They didn't do a good job of advertising for Michael
- 33:47Speaker 1: Bennet because I have no idea what was going on.
- 33:49Speaker 1: By the way, it's getting ready to get big this week.
- 33:52Speaker 1: You know the fair starts. Oh yeah, all right, Thursday? Uh?
- 33:57Speaker 1: Is it Thursday? The first day? Really? Okay? Is it?
- 34:00Speaker 1: I don't know. But you you're the one that goes
- 34:02Speaker 1: every night, Well I do, and I'm going Thursday. I'm
- 34:05Speaker 1: going Thursday night to go see a particular entertainer. And
- 34:10Speaker 1: what's the thing you always get there. Pork chop sandwich. Yeah,
- 34:14Speaker 1: that's what you always clamor for. Oh man, because it's
- 34:17Speaker 1: the greatest pork chop sandwich. You cannot tell me the
- 34:20Speaker 1: pork chop sandwich at the Kentucky State Fair is better
- 34:23Speaker 1: anywhere else. No, this is the greatest pork chop sandwich.
- 34:27Speaker 1: And whatever kind of drug they put into their barbecue sauce,
- 34:30Speaker 1: I'm all in because it's I'm addicted to it. I
- 34:33Speaker 1: gotta get that. And then I got to get a
- 34:35Speaker 1: funnel cake, Okay, and I might try the fried twinkie
- 34:40Speaker 1: or Oreo cookie or all that crap. Again, it's so
- 34:44Speaker 1: bad for you, but it's so good. I'm going to
- 34:48Speaker 1: go see J. D. Shelburn Thursday night. Oh thanks for
- 34:50Speaker 1: the invite. You're welcome. Yeah, I mean you can go.
- 34:54Speaker 1: It's free concert, I could. You're right? Yeah? Why do
- 34:59Speaker 1: you need did an invite for me? It's free? You
- 35:02Speaker 1: think I just want to go hang out by myself.
- 35:04Speaker 1: I'll be there. You can hang out with me. I'll
- 35:06Speaker 1: just listen for your laugh and I'll find you that one. Well,
- 35:09Speaker 1: a lot of truth to that, but anyway, I'll be laughing.
- 35:12Speaker 1: All right, let's see, one person texted, what would y'all's
- 35:18Speaker 1: dream car be? Mine is either a seventy seven Firebird
- 35:25Speaker 1: like the Bandit or an eighty two GMC twenty five
- 35:28Speaker 1: hundred like the Fall Guy. Uh? One person? And then
- 35:34Speaker 1: he said, you picked it? You pick at your face, Michael,
- 35:37Speaker 1: that's messed up. I do so sorry about that. That's yeah,
- 35:43Speaker 1: you're right about that. All right? What is your dream car?
- 35:46Speaker 1: I know what mine is. I've got two eleven. Really
- 35:51Speaker 1: tell you and I are because we've talked. Yes, I
- 35:55Speaker 1: have always wanted to portion nine to eleven. Uh that?
- 35:58Speaker 1: And then uh oh, come on seriously? Blue? Okay? Yeah?
- 36:04Speaker 1: Are there are some now that are mint green that
- 36:07Speaker 1: are really cool. I want to yellow one? You do, okay?
- 36:12Speaker 1: And it has to be a stick? Oh no, no, no.
- 36:15Speaker 1: If you buy a sports car and you get a
- 36:18Speaker 1: automatic transmission, you're cheating. You have to get a stick.
- 36:22Speaker 1: There is something about driving a stick sports car that
- 36:26Speaker 1: just is like nothing else that I've always won an
- 36:30Speaker 1: eighth is it an eight to fifty six Portia eight
- 36:33Speaker 1: fifty six, which is the bathtub. I'll tell you what.
- 36:36Speaker 2: I went to a I just I was driving by
- 36:39Speaker 2: through my town this weekend and there was a car
- 36:42Speaker 2: show at the Moose Lodge and I was thinking, you
- 36:44Speaker 2: know what, my buddy said, he's going to be there,
- 36:46Speaker 2: so I decided to pull in and visible with them
- 36:49Speaker 2: for a bit. There was a sweet Corvette Stingray from
- 36:54Speaker 2: probably the seventies. Yeah, wouldn't of mine having it? Really,
- 36:58Speaker 2: Although you can't get over a speedbook it's that low.
- 37:01Speaker 2: Oh it's so oh?
- 37:02Speaker 1: Is it really? Yeah? No, I'm just I'm not into corvettes.
- 37:05Speaker 1: It seems like corvettes are always driven by sixty year
- 37:09Speaker 1: old guys or older. It seems like, huh, pretty accurate.
- 37:14Speaker 1: Why is that? I've never understood why younger guys don't
- 37:18Speaker 1: want a Corvette. It's always old guys. I don't know.
- 37:21Speaker 1: It just seems always kind of cheesy. You guys can
- 37:23Speaker 1: afford it, young guys can't. Is that what it is?
- 37:26Speaker 1: I think it's that simple. But they're not that expensive,
- 37:29Speaker 1: are they? They're not like a portion nine to eleven? No?
- 37:31Speaker 1: I didn't think so. But all right, we gotta take
- 37:33Speaker 1: another break five or two four one four fourteen fifty.
- 37:36Speaker 1: You want to call in, I'm sorry. I'm trying to
- 37:38Speaker 1: stick to your sixteen minute. I'll do my best, so
- 37:42Speaker 1: worry about me now. You got me all paranoid about
- 37:44Speaker 1: sixteen minutes. Stay right now me all right, we'll take
- 37:46Speaker 1: a break, stay right there.
- 37:56Speaker 3: One that makes me no one that's my better Paddy.
- 38:03Speaker 1: We're still heading cod and you're still the wad O.
- 38:14Speaker 1: I s way in need and anyway you wanted. She
- 38:22Speaker 1: used to live, she missed to sing. She does everything.
- 38:28Speaker 1: She missed the moon, She lifts the groove, she loves
- 38:32Speaker 1: a loving things.
- 38:38Speaker 3: Nights every night, so tids tights.
- 38:47Speaker 1: Every time I hear the songs, I think of one thing,
- 38:51Speaker 1: Caddy Shack, because this was in Caddyshack. I don't remember
- 38:55Speaker 1: this in Caddy Shot. Oh really. It's when they're out
- 38:57Speaker 1: there on the golf course in Rodney Dangerfield. It says,
- 39:01Speaker 1: so what so let's dance, and then he starts playing
- 39:04Speaker 1: the song from his golf bag. It's awesome. I mean,
- 39:08Speaker 1: I do. I love that song right there, because that's
- 39:11Speaker 1: an old one, that's an oldie but goodie from Journey.
- 39:14Speaker 1: But it is, oh it is, oh wow, damn sure
- 39:21Speaker 1: better than don't stop believing. Oh man, you're killing me.
- 39:26Speaker 1: I can't stand now. Really, I like that one there. Well.
- 39:30Speaker 1: Journey was one of my all time favorite bands growing up.
- 39:33Speaker 1: I loved them. But they're not Journey anymore. And don't
- 39:37Speaker 1: tell me that they're a cover band. I mean to me,
- 39:39Speaker 1: they're not Journey without Steve Perry. I'll argue that to
- 39:43Speaker 1: my death right there. And I'm so bummed they won't
- 39:45Speaker 1: get together one more time. And maybe he can't sing anymore.
- 39:49Speaker 1: I don't know, but at least get out there and try.
- 39:53Speaker 1: I just I would like to hear Steve Perry singing
- 39:55Speaker 1: with the because I could go through the I know
- 39:58Speaker 1: every band member still do. That's a Michael Bennett' specially,
- 40:02Speaker 1: I know. Sorry about that, but John here, glad to
- 40:05Speaker 1: hear Michael and Justin going strong this morning. Sorry to
- 40:08Speaker 1: hear about your family's loss with your friend that passed away. Michael,
- 40:12Speaker 1: thoughts and prayers for you and their family. I appreciate that. John.
- 40:18Speaker 1: By gosh, boys, we are twenty two days away until
- 40:21Speaker 1: the NFL season starts in about ten days until college
- 40:25Speaker 1: football starts. That's true week zero forgot. How How excited
- 40:28Speaker 1: are you? I'm very excited. Yeah, as soon as school
- 40:32Speaker 1: starts and summer is over. I mean to me, summer
- 40:36Speaker 1: is over as soon as that happens. And yeah, I'm
- 40:39Speaker 1: excited about this, are you kidding? I am excited to
- 40:42Speaker 1: see how this UK football team is going to be.
- 40:46Speaker 1: I think they're going to be better than what people think.
- 40:49Speaker 1: I hope so. But if they play games close and
- 40:54Speaker 1: they stay in games the entire season, I'm gonna be
- 40:57Speaker 1: very happy. Yea, even if it's four wins, I'm gonna
- 41:00Speaker 1: be very happy because I want to see improvement. I
- 41:03Speaker 1: want to see improvement over the last few years. I
- 41:05Speaker 1: want to see improvement, especially at quarterback. I want to
- 41:07Speaker 1: see the improvement on the offensive line. I think the
- 41:10Speaker 1: other thing that's really a huge positive the former player
- 41:14Speaker 1: now current player at Safari Junior. The linebacker has rejoined
- 41:19Speaker 1: the team for a fifth season. That is huge and
- 41:24Speaker 1: according to the you Can Compliance staff in the SEC,
- 41:28Speaker 1: he's free to play for a fifth year, but they're
- 41:31Speaker 1: still waiting on further clarification before he can be allowed
- 41:36Speaker 1: to play in a game. So we're gonna see if
- 41:38Speaker 1: that happens. But you gotta believe they're gonna let him
- 41:42Speaker 1: play and this, You're right, this is huge for what
- 41:46Speaker 1: is been called a kind of a light linebacker room,
- 41:50Speaker 1: and to get him back is big for UK. But
- 41:55Speaker 1: so I am excited about that and I'm thankful he's
- 41:59Speaker 1: gonna be But switch it up for a second. Did
- 42:02Speaker 1: you see the Bengals rookie cornerback which is name right,
- 42:08Speaker 1: I forget what his first name is, Clayer or something
- 42:12Speaker 1: like that left the team the Bengals team. Now, granted
- 42:17Speaker 1: he was an undrafted free agent, but did you see
- 42:20Speaker 1: what he's going to be doing and why he left
- 42:22Speaker 1: the football team. He's going to pursue acting. They said
- 42:28Speaker 1: he was kind of up in the air six seven
- 42:32Speaker 1: whether or not what he was going to be doing,
- 42:37Speaker 1: and he officially left the team to go pursue a
- 42:41Speaker 1: career in acting. That's hilarious, isn't it. Though he had
- 42:45Speaker 1: a five year college career. He played at Southern Calin
- 42:50Speaker 1: I guess that's where he kind of got the bug,
- 42:52Speaker 1: and then also played it in Nebraska. He's already star
- 42:56Speaker 1: while bidden movies. I wouldn't say he starred in him,
- 42:59Speaker 1: but he was in Space Jam A New Legacy. He
- 43:03Speaker 1: was Lebron James. Soon He's played in a bunch of
- 43:08Speaker 1: TV series Two Broke Girls and Training Day. Did you
- 43:12Speaker 1: ever watch Two Broke Girls? I think I've maybe seen
- 43:15Speaker 1: a couple episodes here. Yeah. Yeah, So I mean, that's
- 43:18Speaker 1: a new way to get cut by a team instead
- 43:21Speaker 1: of saying, you know what, instead of me sitting here
- 43:24Speaker 1: and being on the practice team, I think I'll just
- 43:26Speaker 1: go be a movie star out in Hollywood. That's wild.
- 43:29Speaker 1: It is wild. I saw this like, Okay, that might
- 43:32Speaker 1: be one of the more ridiculous things I've ever seen
- 43:34Speaker 1: in my life. But good for him now of the
- 43:36Speaker 1: Bengals regret taking him, see, I went while he was
- 43:40Speaker 1: undrafted though, so you're not losing a draft day, so
- 43:44Speaker 1: that that did not hurt them at all. I think
- 43:46Speaker 1: if he would have been drafted, he would have probably
- 43:49Speaker 1: stuck to being a football player, because you kind of
- 43:53Speaker 1: got the feeling maybe they were because the Bengals said, listen,
- 43:57Speaker 1: he was getting better, he had a chance of getting
- 43:59Speaker 1: a shot making the team. Now was he feeling like, well,
- 44:05Speaker 1: maybe I'm not going to be I don't want to
- 44:07Speaker 1: be on the uh the practice team. And then all
- 44:11Speaker 1: of a sudden, my agent, my acting agent, calls and says,
- 44:16Speaker 1: we got you in a role. Is that what it is?
- 44:20Speaker 1: I don't Does he have two agents? Does he has
- 44:22Speaker 1: a sports Does he have a sports agent and then
- 44:25Speaker 1: an acting agent that's a great question. Or did the
- 44:29Speaker 1: one agent say, listen, I'll take care of both. I'm
- 44:31Speaker 1: all encompassing. Yes, exactly, perfect word right there. I love
- 44:36Speaker 1: that word, all encompassing. That is fascinating to think about, though. Yes,
- 44:43Speaker 1: so I thought this was Hawes Listen. I never dreamed
- 44:46Speaker 1: I would see a football player give up football to
- 44:49Speaker 1: go become an actor, because that's gonna be if I
- 44:52Speaker 1: was looking at one of the more difficult careers out there.
- 44:55Speaker 1: Acting has got to be one of the toughest of
- 44:59Speaker 1: all time, is it not? From what standpoint? Trying to
- 45:04Speaker 1: make a life at it, trying to make a living,
- 45:07Speaker 1: a consistent living, because one minute you might be hot
- 45:11Speaker 1: and then a year later everybody forgets who you. I
- 45:15Speaker 1: think Robin Williams was really great at it. After he
- 45:18Speaker 1: won his Oscar, He's like, ah, I was Robin Williams.
- 45:21Speaker 1: Everybody knew who I was, and then uh, six months later,
- 45:24Speaker 1: hey Williams, Yeah yeah, and then he said a year later, mork.
- 45:29Speaker 1: I mean, it was really funny how he described him after,
- 45:34Speaker 1: because I think that's true with a lot of actors.
- 45:35Speaker 1: Think about all the actors that were really hot just
- 45:39Speaker 1: five years ago, and then you're like, whatever happened to them?
- 45:45Speaker 1: There are a few out there that you know that
- 45:48Speaker 1: are still doing well. But then there Meg Ryan, I think,
- 45:52Speaker 1: is a really good accomple. Whatever happened to her? Has
- 45:58Speaker 1: Julia Roberts been anything late? Julia Roberts has a million movies?
- 46:02Speaker 1: Does she well, she hasn't been movies, but what is she? So?
- 46:04Speaker 1: Does Meg Ryan? What have they done lately? I don't know,
- 46:10Speaker 1: but I mean it's it's that's to me is a
- 46:12Speaker 1: hard job. Evidently you don't think so.
- 46:15Speaker 2: I think it'd be easier than taking a hit on
- 46:18Speaker 2: a football field day after day.
- 46:19Speaker 1: Well that part is exactly correct. So all right, we
- 46:23Speaker 1: got some football news I want to talk about when
- 46:24Speaker 1: we come back, as well as a few other things.
- 46:28Speaker 1: So some new music is coming out. I don't know
- 46:31Speaker 1: if I'm ready for this. Stay right there, our two
- 46:33Speaker 1: adju justic CAAT's coming right up. Welcome to Just the
- 46:52Speaker 1: Cats with Michael Bennett. All right, hour number two on
- 46:59Speaker 1: this Monday morning. I hope everybody's getting around here on
- 47:03Speaker 1: this what Monday. But let's talk about a couple of things.
- 47:09Speaker 1: Number One, how we feeling about former LSU quarterback Jade
- 47:13Speaker 1: Daniels today, after this weekend and after the news of
- 47:16Speaker 1: him sending his former school a cease and desist regarding
- 47:22Speaker 1: the school use of the nil and reassignment of his
- 47:26Speaker 1: jersey number five.
- 47:27Speaker 2: I meant to talk about this on my show this morning, yes,
- 47:30Speaker 2: and really bummed I didn't. But the amount of things
- 47:33Speaker 2: that I saw this weekend that were basically like, well,
- 47:38Speaker 2: we're not going to use the number five out of
- 47:40Speaker 2: respect for Oh.
- 47:41Speaker 1: It was funny. The Mets went after him, the Orioles
- 47:44Speaker 1: went after him. I thought it was awesome. Even NASCAR
- 47:48Speaker 1: went after Oh did they really? I didn't see Dascar
- 47:50Speaker 1: going after him.
- 47:51Speaker 2: Kyle Larson, out of respect for Jade and Daniel or
- 47:54Speaker 2: Daniels is not going to race the number five.
- 47:56Speaker 1: He'll raise the number four. That is awesome, Because this
- 48:00Speaker 1: is this is dumb. Yeah, I mean, it's just no
- 48:04Speaker 1: other way to describe it. How dumb this is. It
- 48:09Speaker 1: really is. It's like, Okay, you are now being made
- 48:13Speaker 1: fun of across the country. His agent has to be
- 48:18Speaker 1: losing it and say what are you thinking, Jade Daniels,
- 48:21Speaker 1: do you know how many sponsorships we're gonna be losing
- 48:24Speaker 1: because of the fact that who was it? Somebody said,
- 48:28Speaker 1: somebody really in sports media, really Clay Travis. I don't
- 48:34Speaker 1: who is Clay Travis? By the way, Okay, I don't
- 48:37Speaker 1: know who ris all right. He was saying, even if
- 48:41Speaker 1: your mom is a part of this, you should fire her,
- 48:45Speaker 1: which his mom is his agent, so that I would
- 48:48Speaker 1: agree with that, fire his mom, which will never happen.
- 48:54Speaker 1: But this has become the biggest joke in all of
- 48:58Speaker 1: sports to just lose it because oh, you're using my number.
- 49:02Speaker 1: It's like, who cares? It's keeping you relevant. Stop with
- 49:07Speaker 1: being so freaking greedy that you got to go back
- 49:11Speaker 1: against your old school. Now you're gonna be so disliked
- 49:15Speaker 1: at LSU. They're never gonna have you come back. No.
- 49:19Speaker 2: I mean, they'll get over this eventually and they will
- 49:22Speaker 2: have him back. It'll be a while for him to
- 49:26Speaker 2: come out and say, don't use my name image and
- 49:28Speaker 2: like that is really loser, bab.
- 49:31Speaker 1: It is poor schools trying to make some money. Now,
- 49:34Speaker 1: granted they're spending a lot with how much they had
- 49:37Speaker 1: to pay for the last coach, and now how much
- 49:39Speaker 1: they're paying for the current coach, And it's like, oh
- 49:41Speaker 1: my gosh, and then you got to play pay for
- 49:43Speaker 1: all these players that they brought in, no telling how much.
- 49:46Speaker 1: Now you get a cease and desist from your former quarterback.
- 49:49Speaker 1: It's like, dude, settle down. But the way that other
- 49:54Speaker 1: teams have gone after him, I think is so funny,
- 49:59Speaker 1: and it's like it was so written and there were
- 50:02Speaker 1: a lot of fans going after the Mets. Maybe you
- 50:04Speaker 1: should worry about it. It's like, dude, it's a joke.
- 50:07Speaker 2: I mean, the Mets are thirty games below five on
- 50:10Speaker 2: exactly what else do they have to do?
- 50:11Speaker 1: But you know what, there are a thousand games over
- 50:14Speaker 1: five hundred with that one tweet. I'm just telling you
- 50:16Speaker 1: right now because that was the best tweet I read
- 50:19Speaker 1: all weekend. And then the Orioles said, well, we didn't
- 50:22Speaker 1: respect him because we scored more than five. I mean,
- 50:25Speaker 1: it's just like, this is awesome how they've gone after him.
- 50:28Speaker 1: And I feel like, am I the only one that
- 50:30Speaker 1: feels this way?
- 50:31Speaker 2: I mean, I can't remember the baseball team that put
- 50:34Speaker 2: it out, but they they ended up winning a game
- 50:36Speaker 2: like four to one I want to say, and they
- 50:38Speaker 2: were like a lot of respect for Jade and Daniels.
- 50:40Speaker 2: We decided to start that's the Mets or was that
- 50:42Speaker 2: the Mets? That's the Mess? Yes, I could remember what
- 50:45Speaker 2: they're posting. Oh yeah, that was it. I mean I
- 50:47Speaker 2: thought that was brilliant. And then everybody else chiming in
- 50:50Speaker 2: after that. I just I love it. I mean, the
- 50:53Speaker 2: guy deserves to be made fun of. He does going
- 50:58Speaker 2: after your school. Give me a freaking break, Michael, I
- 51:03Speaker 2: see what all the fuss is about. I helped move
- 51:05Speaker 2: my nephew into UK yesterday. We were walking to his
- 51:09Speaker 2: dorm when we passed Famous nut or field House. Safe
- 51:12Speaker 2: to say, we all got our nut on. That must
- 51:18Speaker 2: be a UK then. I don't know, but it made me.
- 51:21Speaker 2: Mister Illinois that sent that, by the way. I and
- 51:24Speaker 2: he's a person. I enjoy his text. By the way, Uh,
- 51:27Speaker 2: if you want to text in five O two four
- 51:29Speaker 2: one four fourteen fifty. On the Whiskey Thief text line,
- 51:32Speaker 2: one person said, Grandma is going to declare next for.
- 51:36Speaker 1: The NBA or the w NBA. It's ridiculous. Oh boy,
- 51:46Speaker 1: it's a T shirt that says the Sheese Man Larry
- 51:49Speaker 1: Grandmama Johnson. Oh boy, yeah, that's that's creating more political issues,
- 51:56Speaker 1: isn't it. I mean, I don't know why this is
- 52:03Speaker 1: even a debate. I really don't. Because women belong in
- 52:08Speaker 1: women's sports and men belong in men's sports. That's it,
- 52:11Speaker 1: and you're done if you don't like my answer. I'm
- 52:16Speaker 1: not going to apologize. There's one sport for women, one
- 52:22Speaker 1: sport for men. And to think that we had a
- 52:26Speaker 1: swimmer for a few years out there that was a
- 52:28Speaker 1: man swimming with women and beating them was the most
- 52:33Speaker 1: ridiculous thing in the world. And I don't remember the
- 52:36Speaker 1: swimmer from Kentucky. I'm very proud of her Riley Games,
- 52:39Speaker 1: thank you, and I appreciate her for fighting as much
- 52:43Speaker 1: as she has because every woman out there should be
- 52:47Speaker 1: fighting for women. But anyway, I'm you want me to
- 52:52Speaker 1: be outspoken about that, I'll be happy to be outspoken
- 52:55Speaker 1: about it. But I mean, this is dumb. Stop men
- 52:59Speaker 1: playing women sports. You don't need to be out there.
- 53:02Speaker 1: So uh but but I'm afraid that might haven't Uh
- 53:06Speaker 1: is it fixed yet? The person's asking do you know
- 53:08Speaker 1: is the huh? I just answered him, Oh you did it?
- 53:12Speaker 1: Does not appear. So, oh, I'm sorry, I didn't even
- 53:15Speaker 1: see that. Oh great, okay, well I'm sorry, Texter. I
- 53:18Speaker 1: wish you could listen. So anyway, podcast will be good,
- 53:22Speaker 1: it will be okay. Well, we'll fire that up as
- 53:25Speaker 1: soon as the show's over. So uh the debate's getting
- 53:27Speaker 1: stronger and stronger of the uh uh player h This
- 53:32Speaker 1: past weekend, Vikings linebacker Jamal Adams that suffered a severe
- 53:38Speaker 1: non uh non contact injury at MetLife Stadium, and it
- 53:42Speaker 1: seems to be happening at a brand new stadium, met
- 53:44Speaker 1: Life because you know, they took up the grass or
- 53:47Speaker 1: they took up the artificial turf to make the natural
- 53:53Speaker 1: grass that the World Cup requires, and now this is
- 53:58Speaker 1: it's not old grass, I mean art turf. And yet
- 54:01Speaker 1: now it seems like the players are starting to really
- 54:05Speaker 1: vocalize since the World Cup. Seems like it's been a
- 54:08Speaker 1: big issue over the past couple of weeks because all
- 54:12Speaker 1: the stadiums okay, well it's been longer than that, but
- 54:14Speaker 1: it's really firing up now because you have Kansas City
- 54:18Speaker 1: take it out for natural grass Seattle. But the players
- 54:25Speaker 1: want natural grass, all of them want natural grass. Yet
- 54:29Speaker 1: they say ninety two percent of the NFL players want
- 54:32Speaker 1: to switch to natural grass. Fourteen NFL teams have it,
- 54:37Speaker 1: sixteen teams have turf, and sixteen teams have grass. So
- 54:46Speaker 1: what is the big deal all these teams make? Can
- 54:49Speaker 1: we safely say they make billions of dollars in the NFL?
- 54:54Speaker 1: So why do we have to have our artificial grass?
- 54:59Speaker 1: If they can forward to take care of the grass,
- 55:03Speaker 1: Because I know it's it's it's not cheap, but why
- 55:07Speaker 1: do we have to have artificial.
- 55:09Speaker 2: Because I mean, you're you're not having to spend any
- 55:11Speaker 2: money on it, and you these guys don't want to
- 55:13Speaker 2: lose anything. Yeah, they're making a buttload of money, but
- 55:16Speaker 2: they don't want to lose any of that.
- 55:18Speaker 1: If you spend a little money, like a met life
- 55:20Speaker 1: in at Sofi Stadium out in LA because you got
- 55:23Speaker 1: two teams playing, so they have to repaint it for
- 55:26Speaker 1: every single game that is not you know, their respective
- 55:30Speaker 1: home team Jets and the Giants and the Chargers and
- 55:33Speaker 1: the Rams. So that I'd like to know how much
- 55:36Speaker 1: that costs Now. Granted it's not, I'm sure as much
- 55:40Speaker 1: of an expense as natural turf, but I don't understand
- 55:43Speaker 1: why it's such a big deal. They're insistent, especially when
- 55:46Speaker 1: you have majority of vast majority of the players that
- 55:50Speaker 1: want grass.
- 55:52Speaker 2: I mean, here's the solution that many of the players
- 55:56Speaker 2: want natural grass. To just work out a deal with them. Hey,
- 56:00Speaker 2: these natural grass fields, they take a lot of maintenance,
- 56:03Speaker 2: take a lot of repairing after every single game. So
- 56:07Speaker 2: if you all want this, we're all good. We'll do
- 56:09Speaker 2: it your way, but you all got to put in
- 56:11Speaker 2: some of your time helping the grounds crew get the field.
- 56:13Speaker 1: Right. Wait a minute, yeah, you want the players to
- 56:17Speaker 1: help with the grass.
- 56:18Speaker 2: I mean, they're getting as much money as they're getting paid.
- 56:20Speaker 2: That's the least that they could do, right.
- 56:23Speaker 1: Yeah, but it's it's the city and the ownership that
- 56:28Speaker 1: owned the team in the stadium. I think it should
- 56:31Speaker 1: be the responsibility of not the city, but the football
- 56:37Speaker 1: team ownership. That's an expense they can write off. Come on, man,
- 56:43Speaker 1: I mean it's one hundred yards. I would love to know.
- 56:46Speaker 1: I have no idea what it costs to take care
- 56:48Speaker 1: of a football field as far as natural grass. I
- 56:52Speaker 1: couldn't even begin to get I can't believe it's that
- 56:55Speaker 1: much more. Well, but I just if it's going to
- 57:01Speaker 1: help your players play longer. Why wouldn't you want to?
- 57:04Speaker 1: I mean, you're investing in your players by putting natural
- 57:07Speaker 1: grass in.
- 57:08Speaker 2: Because it's a business, Michael. Once those players are gone,
- 57:11Speaker 2: there's gonna be other players to have.
- 57:12Speaker 1: There's gonna be other players to have injury too, though,
- 57:16Speaker 1: So which way are you? Are you more on the
- 57:18Speaker 1: side of artificial turf or you on more of the
- 57:20Speaker 1: side of the grass. I'm on artificial turf, are you really?
- 57:24Speaker 2: But that being said, I never played football, so I
- 57:28Speaker 2: don't really I don't have a preference one way or
- 57:30Speaker 2: the other. But if I'm a NFL owner, yeah, I
- 57:32Speaker 2: definitely want natural grass because it's just way less headache
- 57:35Speaker 2: for me.
- 57:36Speaker 1: Well, I just don't like artificial turf in rainy games
- 57:41Speaker 1: or snowy games. I think it makes it slide more slicker.
- 57:46Speaker 1: Whereas I want to see the guys getting all muddy.
- 57:49Speaker 1: If it's a deluge of rain, I want to see
- 57:52Speaker 1: them fighting out there in the mud. I don't want
- 57:55Speaker 1: to see clean jerseys and pants. Come on, man, And
- 57:59Speaker 1: I know they get skid marks off the turf, but
- 58:02Speaker 1: it's not as much fun as when there is a
- 58:05Speaker 1: natural grass out there and it's just raining. Like cats
- 58:08Speaker 1: and dogs and guess what they're getting so mndy, you
- 58:12Speaker 1: can't even tell if the football's in their hands are
- 58:14Speaker 1: not because your your hands and your white pants and
- 58:17Speaker 1: your jersey are just all brown from the mud of
- 58:20Speaker 1: the turf. I love that the little turf turds they
- 58:25Speaker 1: get in your feet. I mean, that's gonna be so
- 58:27Speaker 1: annoying when I'm like, for instance, when I'm walking in
- 58:30Speaker 1: Kamala Stadium at the field, I'm just walking in, I
- 58:33Speaker 1: get those turf herds in my feet. Oh yeah, and
- 58:36Speaker 1: I can't stand it. I got every couple of minutes,
- 58:39Speaker 1: I gotta go, Oh, I gotta take my shoe off
- 58:40Speaker 1: and get these turf turds out of my shoe. It's like,
- 58:42Speaker 1: how does that happen? So if that happens to me
- 58:44Speaker 1: just walking, can you imagine what happens when you're out
- 58:47Speaker 1: there running and being tackled and all of them that
- 58:49Speaker 1: get in those cleats. I can because I worked in hotels. Oh,
- 58:55Speaker 1: I hadn't thought about that. Yeah, you clean them up
- 58:57Speaker 1: in there. Man.
- 58:58Speaker 2: You the amount of those little turf turns you would
- 59:01Speaker 2: see in rooms when like kids would get back from
- 59:03Speaker 2: a baseball tournament right out Jesus pete.
- 59:06Speaker 1: Yeah, it was exhausting. I bet it is exhausting, and
- 59:10Speaker 1: it's just like, this is ridiculous. So, I just I
- 59:12Speaker 1: don't know why it's a to me, if you're going
- 59:15Speaker 1: to invest in your players, in your health and safety
- 59:18Speaker 1: of your own players, that you're spending millions of dollars,
- 59:22Speaker 1: to me, it's a no brainer. It just really is.
- 59:26Speaker 1: So it's a business expense for your team, and it's
- 59:29Speaker 1: a write off. So just go ahead and make that
- 59:32Speaker 1: expense and guess what, maybe your team will succeed a
- 59:35Speaker 1: lot more and longer because the health and well being
- 59:39Speaker 1: of your own players. I just I just don't get
- 59:43Speaker 1: why this is a debate. I just I really don't. Uh.
- 59:48Speaker 1: One person texts it out. Common sense, isn't that common anymore?
- 59:52Speaker 1: It seems that's true. No, nothing, there's no common sense anymore.
- 59:57Speaker 1: I don't know. I've all always been hesitant to talk
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: about the whole men's and women's thing, but it really
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: is just such an easy fix. Yeah, to me, it is.
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: And I don't understand why. I mean, you play in
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: the sport you were born, otherwise it's just not fair.
- 1:00:20Speaker 2: I mean, unless we want to start another division, then
- 1:00:25Speaker 2: I'm okay with that.
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: Nobody's gonna watch it. I mean, no offense to those athletes,
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: but nobody's going to watch it. So it just you
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: either play the sport and the sex you were born
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: in that sport or not. Because I can say right now,
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: I'm a girl and I go play basketball against my wife,
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: I'm going to beat her. I mean, it just was
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: not convinced you would. Really Wow, thanks a lot. Uh,
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: Cleveland Browns are expected to bring back what wait that
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: bothers me. Now, how can you say you're not expected
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: I would beat my wife at basketball. She looks athletic.
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: You don't. I don't look athletic. No, really, no, Wow,
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: thanks a lot. Okay, that's a real blow. Cleveland Browns
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: are expected to bring back former UK football players Zadarius Smith.
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: Did you see this? No, out of retirement, he retired.
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: You realized he retired last year in the middle of
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: the season. We was playing for the Eagles. And he's
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: thirty three years old and the Browns are bringing him back.
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: I think this is great. I think Zadarius Smith has
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: some football left in him. How long that is I
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: don't know, but I mean, you think of Zadarius Smith.
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: Where do you think him? Mostly in the NFL? To me,
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: I think of him as a Pittsburgh Steeler.
- 1:01:50Speaker 2: I don't remember where all he played. I don't really
- 1:01:53Speaker 2: remember him in the NFL at all. Oh you don't,
- 1:01:56Speaker 2: even though I'm a Steelers fan.
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: All right, Various Smith played on Uh, let's see Baltimore.
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: Oh I was wrong. I'm thinking of somebody else, Baltimore Ravens,
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, Cleveland Browns. Uh and that's it,
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: and probably the Packers. Yeah, okay, who am I thinking of?
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: That played for the Pittsburgh the defensive lineman yous played
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: at uk Man. I can't think of it. Oh, well,
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: Bud Dupree, bud Dupres is who I'm thinking of. He
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: was a lineman or a linebacker. I like Bud. Yeah,
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: Bud played for a long time. But that that's who
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: I'm thinking of. Thank you, Texter, bud Dupree. I appreciate
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: that so anyway, But I listen, I'm glad that Darius
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: Smith got it a little more in him and he's
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: going to get out there and play. All right.
- 1:02:51Speaker 2: By Bud Duprice still in the league, Who's he is?
- 1:02:53Speaker 2: He plays with the Chargers. Is he really Yeah?
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: I thought he was done. I thought he was too Wow.
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: Good for him? Yeah, because I think of him, I
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: think of Pittsburgh Steelers. But all right, uh, Pat McAfee,
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: have you heard about this? Here we go, he's coming
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: out with his own music. Oh you know what.
- 1:03:17Speaker 2: We listened to one of the songs yesterday on the
- 1:03:20Speaker 2: lake and it was oh you did it was really good?
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: Okay, all right? Did I wanted to get your opinion?
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: All right, so I we gotta go to break. Uh
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: do you feel like playing a little bit. We don't
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: have to do it coming back into break. We can
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: just play it in the middle of the show. Would
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: you like to play a little of his music and
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: you tell me if you think it's good or if
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: it's bad. I kind of have a mixed opinion here
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: because I mean, how much is this really him? How
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: much is this uh really auto tune? I don't know,
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: but this coming out and who's telling him we need
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: to hear this more? More of this is? It's like, okay,
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: well let's let's let's let the fans be the judge
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: of that. Stay right there, we gotta take a break
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: five O two four one four fourteen fifty text me
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: on the whisky feed text line same peace to the
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: greatest Dome of all time. Father, Wait up in the morning,
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: smoking coffee, no cream. Scrowl the feed, see some tweeds
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: or some crazy scenes trying to get to some money
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: with a power bowl dreams. Because when Bill starts tacking,
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: we all feel and we all had the same folks
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: most of the name bros. They ain't can receive back
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: where that came from. We got get McAfee singing a
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: mug shot up in that's can shoulders and I mean,
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: this is not karaoke and bullshit it we As much
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: as I hate to admit it, I like it. It's brilli.
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: It's a really good beat. What's that called pitbull in
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: a mug shot? Pit bull and a mug shot? I mean,
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: what what where do you classify that kind of music
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: right there? What do you call it? What genre is that?
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: Bro country? Maybe? Is it? Oh, there's a I am
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: not familiar with bro country. That's what I would call it? Broken?
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: What what exactly is bro country? I know, I'm make
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: fun of me all you want. I'm in the past here.
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: I am not familiar with bro country. I mean it's
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: this really okay? Is there another singer out there I
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: would know who is a part of bro country? I
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: think all the like up and comer country artists now
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: at least the men are all bro country? Really? And
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: how do they classify as broke country? Michael? You're asking
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: me way too many questions. Well, you work in a
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: country music station this afternoon, you should know this kind
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: of stuff.
- 1:06:28Speaker 2: It's a subgenre of country pop that emerged in See
- 1:06:31Speaker 2: how difficult was that?
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: Okay? Well, Kirk Kerbstreet says he needs to play his
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: music on college game day. Yeah, it should be a theme. Wow. Well,
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: I just as much as I dislike Pat McAfee because
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: I think he's overrated, that's pretty good stuff right now. Now,
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: did he get a lot of help in the studio?
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: Do you think absolutely? Did he write any of this music?
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: I wouldn't be surprised if he wrote some of it. Yeah,
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: but no, no, no, no way, he wrote all yeah?
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: And do you lose a little respect when you hear
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: all that kind of stuff? If he's if he get
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: a lot of auto tune involved in there, and he
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: didn't write any music?
- 1:07:11Speaker 2: Not really, because he's a busy guy. I mean, obviously
- 1:07:15Speaker 2: music's not his first outlet.
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: He's a busy guy. That's always a lame excuse to me. Listen,
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: if you're a busy guy, then you have no time
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: to go record to stuff. But anyway, I'm not gonna well,
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: just never mind. It's pretty good. He just wants the
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: whole world to know him. He really does. I mean,
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: there's a famous classification today, it's called uh fomo. Is
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: he one of those kind of people? I mean, is
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: he like one of the biggest attention seekers out there?
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: He's gotta be up there. Yeah, yeah, but he's really
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: good at it. I see. I think. I think if
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: you wanted me to list a number of people that
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: I think are some of the biggest attention seekers, I
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: put the Kardashians up there, and I'm putting Pat McAfee
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: up there as well. I think Steve Smith. I think
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: Steven A. Smith is one of those.
- 1:08:09Speaker 2: So, you know, isn't it incredible that what Pat Mack
- 1:08:12Speaker 2: what he came from, Like, dude was a punter in
- 1:08:15Speaker 2: the NFL, right, and he's one of the most well
- 1:08:17Speaker 2: known people a lot.
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: And wasn't he just a guest on a college game day?
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: One of the guests at one of the games, and
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: then all of a sudden he just became wildly successful
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: because he had such a big hit. It's amazing what
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: ten minutes can do to a person's life. Sure, and
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: that's Pat McAfee in the nutshell. I do from that standpoint,
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: you're not gonna hear me make fun of him. I
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: respect that and good for him. Am I a little
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: envious of him? Absolutely? I am. He's making a lot
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: of money, having a lot of fun. Yeah, and now
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: he's making music. I mean, only other person I can
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: think of that's done something like that would probably be
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: Eddie Murphy. Eddie Murphy, nobody knew he could sing, and
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: then he comes out. You've played some of his music
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: and uh, what was it? Party all the time? And uh,
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: I mean Eddie Murphy. You can criticize him all you want.
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: He's a great singer and he can sing. He can
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: sing like Stevie Wonder, he can sing like James Brown.
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: I mean, he is just really multi talented. Now we
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: don't hear much from me anymore, which I hate because
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: I thought in my day he was the funniest guy
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: out there. I loved Eddie Murphy. I still do. Did
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: you watch his uh where they gave him the Lifetime
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: Achievement Award? I did not really why it's really good?
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: Is it Sincere? Is it funny? It all the above?
- 1:09:40Speaker 2: I mean, you get all the above, you get some
- 1:09:41Speaker 2: funny moments, most of it's Sincere just Beau, is it really?
- 1:09:44Speaker 2: He's gushing about how good he was at his craft,
- 1:09:47Speaker 2: and yeah, it's awesome between.
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: He and his brother. His brother was really funny too,
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: Charlie Murphy, but I like both of them. Yeah, Eddie
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: Murphy was probably back in the day, my favorite actor.
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: I mean I loved him on SNL because he kept
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: SNL alive. I loved him in Beverly Hills cop of
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: forty eight Hours, I mean, you are Trading Places? I
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: think was another really good movie he was in. And
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: then he kind of fell off the face of the earth.
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: I mean, he did the whole what's the cartoon? He
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: did that? You like so much? Trek Track that one?
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: He did that, but then you didn't hear much from
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: what was it Daddy Bait Daycare or whatever that one was.
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: That was kind of funny, but then it's nothing else
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: was really there that was Norbitt was good. You see Norbit.
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: I know, please know I'm not serious what I'll say
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: that Norbitt was good. Oh yeah, I was gonna say
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: it was pretty bad.
- 1:10:44Speaker 2: But the fact that he played all the characters, I mean,
- 1:10:47Speaker 2: that's that's something that we don't see out of many actors,
- 1:10:51Speaker 2: and we're not going to see much of that moving forward.
- 1:10:53Speaker 2: I can't imagine. Yeah, the fact that like Coming to America.
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: Another great movie.
- 1:10:58Speaker 2: Yes, him being every single actor in the barber shop
- 1:11:03Speaker 2: is just unbelievable awesome. The fact that he didn't win
- 1:11:06Speaker 2: an oscar for that is criminal.
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: And his band was sexual Chocolate. I mean, I just
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: love that, and he's yelling sexual chocolate anyway, I just
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: know he was funny. Zach texted out played in a
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: football game back in the in the day in fifty
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: five degree pouring rain, and it was easily the most
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: fun game I ever played in. Was cold as hell
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: in the beginning, but once we got started, the cold
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: didn't bother us. See that to me has got to
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: be one of the more fun things to do when
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: you're playing football is playing in that rain on natural grass,
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: not on turf. I would have to think if there
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: was a comparison because you're seeing a lot more high
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: schools get turf. Now. I get that because the poor
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: high schools can't afford to take care of the grass,
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: and if they can afford to save the money and
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: raise money to go buy the natural the artificial turf,
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: I get it because it's a cost saizings to you
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: and you need as much money as you can. But
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: that's just got to be miserable to play fifty five
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: degree weather on artificial turf compared to playing on I
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: think your mind changes a little bit more. It's like, oh,
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: I got dirt all over me. I'm okay. I don't know.
- 1:12:22Speaker 2: See, I always thought, like as a baseball player in
- 1:12:25Speaker 2: high school, I always thought playing on a turf field
- 1:12:27Speaker 2: for baseball would have been cool. But then again, like
- 1:12:31Speaker 2: Zach said, I mean, one of my favorite memories from
- 1:12:34Speaker 2: baseball is we had practiced one day it was pouring
- 1:12:37Speaker 2: down rain. In all likelihood, practice probably should have been canceled.
- 1:12:41Speaker 2: But our coach, who was an absolute jerk, old style guy,
- 1:12:46Speaker 2: very much like the Bobby Knight mindset, right, he just
- 1:12:49Speaker 2: let us cut loose that day and he said, you
- 1:12:50Speaker 2: know what, guys, we're gonna practice diving catches. Oh my god,
- 1:12:53Speaker 2: and I went home a complete mess. But it was
- 1:12:56Speaker 2: probably the funnest practice I ever.
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: Yeah, but playing on artificial her baseball, the baseball comes
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: at you a lot faster, doesn't it.
- 1:13:04Speaker 2: Well, I don't know comes in hot I never did
- 1:13:07Speaker 2: play on it, but had had our field ben artificial turf,
- 1:13:10Speaker 2: we probably wouldn't have done that diving catch practice.
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: Which was awesome. By the way, somebody tweeted out all
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: the things that the MLB team said this weekend. Uh huh,
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: all right, stopped at four out of respect for Jade Daniels.
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: That was the mess. Okay, Cleveland Indians one by five
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: because we're not scared of Jade and Daniels. They beat
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: the Padres six to one. The Blue Jays got into it,
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: scored for to honor Jade and Daniels five. I mean,
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: this is unbelievable. Let's see the Orioles went from four
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: to six runs out of respect for Jade and Daniels.
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: I mean, they are just brutal to him, and I
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: love every second. The Los Angeles Angels said something. He
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: asked to throw a fifth pitch, but we had to
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: say no out of respect to Jane Daniels talking about
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: Gene Simmons because he was throwing so poorly the first pitch. Uh,
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: Gene Simmons of Kiss Philadelphia Phillies did it. Bryson Scott
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: will not cease nor desist because he's five exactly. I mean,
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: I love Yeah, what did he do? Uh? Three home runs?
- 1:14:28Speaker 2: You're who's that? You're thinking of that Bias kid? Yes,
- 1:14:32Speaker 2: Jose Bias. Yes, his debut three home runs first play?
- 1:14:38Speaker 2: That Yeah, that's awesome. He did it on his first pitch.
- 1:14:41Speaker 2: That was crazy, isn't that?
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: I love that? But I don't because he's a Cardinals.
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: Oh come on, but still forget that he's a Cardinal
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: because I'm right here, I'm right there with you. I'm
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: not a Cardinals fan. But I love that all six
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: of these major League Baseball teams win after Jane Daniels
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: and I think it's great. And if you go re,
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: the majority of the responses are they loved it. Now
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: there's a couple of them in here. It's like, dude,
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: get some humor. But he asked for it. He's gonna
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: be He's gonna hear about this all season. Oh, he's
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: it's gonna be brutal. Oh yeah, and it's so deserved,
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: by the way. Uh. Speaking of baseball, former baseball player
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: Tommy John passed away over the weekend at the age
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: of eighty three. Now every youth baseball player out there
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: knows that, oh, there was really a Tommy John. I mean,
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: that's basically what it comes down to. I would say today,
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: people your age are younger, when they hear Tommy John surgery,
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: they figure it's just a procedure, yeah, and that's it.
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: They did not they do not realize that there was
- 1:15:48Speaker 1: actually a baseball player that played for the Yankees named
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: Tommy John and the earth pedic surgeon that came up
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: with this procedure. Isn't it funny that it's not named
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: after the roth Peak surgeon. It's named after.
- 1:16:01Speaker 2: He's more recognizable, probably so SID like that recognizable Yeah, no,
- 1:16:06Speaker 2: you said it away, I understand recognizable.
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: I like that recognizable ice cream. Yeah you scream, We
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: all scream. But anyway, all right, think about the players
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: that it helped. Number one player I always think of
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: John Smoltz had Tommy John surgery. Uh, justin Verlander, Tommy
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: John surgery. Here's been a bunch show, Hey, o Tania
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: Tommy John I mean, that's just amazing how it made
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: their career even longer because of that one procedure. Brice
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: Harper had to get Tommy Jones. Bryce Harper did. I
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: didn't know that. What what he's not a picture? No,
- 1:16:54Speaker 1: that's a wild Okay, all right then, uh so let's
- 1:16:59Speaker 1: go back to the pep Tex Fine. One person said,
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: worst field I ever played on was the turf at
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: Old Cardinals Stadium at the fair Grounds. Hit a bad
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: spot on the turf. Wow, all right, I please text
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: me back and let me know. Was this in high
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: school or did you play in a college game there?
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: Because I would agree that was a horrible field. But
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: I loved that stadium every time I passed by, Uh,
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: let me think, I think it was yesterday and thought about, Wow,
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: Cardinal Stadium's completely gone from the Fairgrounds and how different
- 1:17:34Speaker 1: it is over there. I walked through it before they
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: tore down. I don't know I got in, but I
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: just walked in there. Nobody was asked me any question.
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: You know, you it's funny you walk somewhere that you
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: know you're not supposed to be. If you walk in
- 1:17:48Speaker 1: there with confidence like you're supposed to be there. Nobody
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: will say a word to you. But if you look
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: around and you're looking very suspicious, people are going to
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: come up to you. And that's kind of how I
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: walked in there with confidence. I'm going in here. I
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: want to see it. I want to see it one
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: last time.
- 1:18:05Speaker 2: And that goes for anything, like if you're at a
- 1:18:08Speaker 2: sporting event or a con concert anything. Yep, if you
- 1:18:11Speaker 2: just walk down that section like you know exactly what
- 1:18:13Speaker 2: you're doing, usher will never question exactly.
- 1:18:16Speaker 1: Just keep walking, don't turn around, just keep walking. Uh, Michael,
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: I see what all the fuss is about. I helped move. No,
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: I read this one. Did not yet I read this one?
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: Why did you send it to me again? Well, I'm sorry,
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: texta if you didn't hear. But I read it already once.
- 1:18:34Speaker 1: But anyway, Uh, what do you think about UK basketball?
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: We'll play Texas Tech in a preseason exhibition game at
- 1:18:41Speaker 1: uh and and we'll also schedule another exhibition game. Both
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: teams are gonna be Big twelve, so Texas Tech out
- 1:18:48Speaker 1: of the Big twelve. Another team will be a big team.
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: All right, let's talk about potential teams. So Texas Tech
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: is won I like this call, do you Yeah, I'm
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: good with it. Okay. Good of the other big twelve teams,
- 1:19:02Speaker 1: I'll read them off to me. You don't have to
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: look up. Who would you like to see Kentucky play
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: in the exhibition game? You got Arizona, Arizona State, Baylor, BYU, Cincinnati, Colorado, Houston,
- 1:19:14Speaker 1: Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, TCU, Central Florida, Utah,
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: and West Virginia. There's one team, maybe two teams. I'd
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: like one I just want to see because they never
- 1:19:26Speaker 1: play him. Arizona.
- 1:19:28Speaker 2: Hey, God bless you are good at this, and then
- 1:19:32Speaker 2: the other one you want to see for dramatic.
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: I think it's easy. Yeah, I think it's real easy.
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: Go ahead exactly. I think BYU would be a lot
- 1:19:41Speaker 1: of fun because now you've got our head coach is
- 1:19:45Speaker 1: former head coach at BYU.
- 1:19:47Speaker 2: You got a former players of Colin Chandler and a locker.
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: Uh no, I'm not gonna do that, all right, So
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: let me ask you when if Colin Chandler came back
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: and they do schedule the exhibition game against BYU, what
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: do you think the reception will be for Colin Chandler?
- 1:20:07Speaker 2: He'd get an ovation, he get an ovation, I think really, Yeah,
- 1:20:11Speaker 2: I think so, just because I mean, you gotta think
- 1:20:14Speaker 2: back to what he did at the end of last season.
- 1:20:16Speaker 2: It was I mean, he kept Kentucky in a lot
- 1:20:19Speaker 2: of games that they should not have been in.
- 1:20:21Speaker 1: I don't think he's gonna get booed. But I don't
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: think he's getting an ovation. I think he gets a
- 1:20:26Speaker 1: polite applause. Okay, yeah, I mean I don't. I'm not
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: meaning like standing ovation. Oh that's the way I took it. Yeah,
- 1:20:32Speaker 1: when I say ovation, I mean standing ovation. And everybody's
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: thrilled to see him back at Reparina now. But they'll cheer.
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: I think they'll be polite. Yeah, I don't think they
- 1:20:41Speaker 1: will boo him. It won't be like the situation when
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: Arkansas came to UH Kentucky a couple of seasons. On
- 1:20:47Speaker 1: what they do to DJ Wagner. They booed DJ Wagner. Yeah,
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: they pretty much booed everybody on there. And yeah, you'll
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: have a smattering of I don't think you will. I
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: think you. I think everybody will appreciate Colin Chandler and
- 1:21:06Speaker 1: they won't boo him. I don't know. Maybe maybe I'm
- 1:21:10Speaker 1: wrong about this, but I don't know. Tex text me
- 1:21:13Speaker 1: out there and you let me know text its. What
- 1:21:15Speaker 1: do you think rupp Arena will do if UK schedules
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: this second Big twelve game with BYU. Do you think
- 1:21:22Speaker 1: they will give Colin a polite applause an ovation or
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: are they gonna boo him? I'm curious about that, but anyway,
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: all right, we gotta take our last break. I'll get
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: back to your text as soon as we get back.
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: Five oh two four one four fourteen fifty plus Big
- 1:21:38Speaker 1: Blue Madness has a date. We're scheduled, man, and it's
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: early this year. Stay right there more just the cats
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: coming right up.
- 1:21:45Speaker 2: Thank mostly bros.
- 1:21:47Speaker 1: Hoy ain't Karsy go back? We again cause he lives
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: and then we gotta get it. Denny Wish read on
- 1:21:54Speaker 1: a spark up a lot of.
- 1:22:15Speaker 3: Small things, truecare truth things out one list.
- 1:22:24Speaker 1: You're right the best true Alwest. I know you'll be
- 1:22:31Speaker 1: at my show. So you mean to tell me somebody
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: the school across the places complaining because I park in
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: a parking lot. You don't need to be put in
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: an uncomfortable position because you're not at fault here, but
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: a school across the way is complaining because I park
- 1:22:47Speaker 1: in one spot. That is the dumbest thing I've ever
- 1:22:50Speaker 1: heard in my life. This is the dumbest school I've
- 1:22:52Speaker 1: ever seen in my life. Complaining because I'm parking in
- 1:22:55Speaker 1: a parking lot. Oh my gosh, this place is just wild. Okay,
- 1:23:00Speaker 1: just want to let you know. I just want to
- 1:23:02Speaker 1: let you know. This is what I have to deal with. Okay, everyone,
- 1:23:07Speaker 1: not Justin. Justin is the nicest person I ever meet
- 1:23:09Speaker 1: in your life. But they're going to him and not
- 1:23:11Speaker 1: coming to me. And now you're uncomfortable a little bit.
- 1:23:15Speaker 1: You shouldn't be. You shouldn't be uncomfortable. You tell them
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: to come to me. All right, I'm going parking a
- 1:23:19Speaker 1: parking lot. It's a parking lot. I love how people
- 1:23:23Speaker 1: are today. Uh, well, here we go. I need to
- 1:23:25Speaker 1: gripe about how dorm life has changed. That place looks
- 1:23:29Speaker 1: like a hotel. In his freshman year, he has his
- 1:23:32Speaker 1: own carpeted room, only one roommate with his separated room.
- 1:23:38Speaker 1: There is one bathroom shower, his own bathroom shower, a
- 1:23:42Speaker 1: living area, and the dorm came with a mini fridge
- 1:23:45Speaker 1: and microwave. Holy cow, what's the dorm called again. I
- 1:23:50Speaker 1: don't know if he said the name of the dorm,
- 1:23:52Speaker 1: the one you were talking about earlier. Oh, that was
- 1:23:55Speaker 1: Kerwin and Blanding Tower. Now it's called Blanding. I think
- 1:24:00Speaker 1: I don't know, but look it up. Yeah. Uh. I
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: graduated college a decade ago and I didn't go to
- 1:24:07Speaker 1: a big state school. My silly self chose a small
- 1:24:10Speaker 1: D three school for football. My freshman dorm in twenty
- 1:24:14Speaker 1: twelve consisted of myself in a roommate in a room
- 1:24:17Speaker 1: that could barely fit too, though we did manage to
- 1:24:22Speaker 1: squeeze a third person couch in front of the TV.
- 1:24:26Speaker 1: Wow whoa, oh my gosh, why did you do? And
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: came with zero bells and whistles. We bought our own amenities.
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: We were given two twin beds, two desks, two chairs,
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: two drawers. My wife went to WKU and stated her
- 1:24:41Speaker 1: freshman room was about the same as mine. She graduated
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: only a year after I did. Would like to think
- 1:24:50Speaker 1: I'm not too old yet, But after seeing that, my
- 1:24:54Speaker 1: how times have changed? Good for him? Dorm life has
- 1:24:58Speaker 1: changed completely Because I can tell you I had twin
- 1:25:01Speaker 1: beds in my dorm. I was in Hagen Hall beds.
- 1:25:05Speaker 1: That's exactly yeah, and not what I said. I thought.
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: I said bunk beds. Oh, we had bunk beds. I
- 1:25:12Speaker 1: love bunk beds I had. I had the top one.
- 1:25:16Speaker 1: It was awesome. But no, I mean we had two desks.
- 1:25:21Speaker 1: We did have a phone in our room, but you
- 1:25:24Speaker 1: had to go to a commonery for the bathroom and
- 1:25:26Speaker 1: shower and all that crap. Hagen Hall was a dump.
- 1:25:30Speaker 1: Only thing it had nice It had k layer which
- 1:25:34Speaker 1: was right there where you could go eat, and I
- 1:25:36Speaker 1: would always get up, go have go to my eight
- 1:25:38Speaker 1: o'clock class, come back, have breakfast, and then I'd go
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: later on to my other classes. But wow, Yeah, all
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: I've heard is how dorm life is like living in
- 1:25:50Speaker 1: a hotel today. Maybe we should go back. Nope, I
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: have zero interest in going back in flunkingmore classes. One
- 1:25:58Speaker 1: person said worst field I was ever on was the turf.
- 1:26:01Speaker 1: I got that one played at old Cardinals Stadium. So
- 1:26:04Speaker 1: he responded, played at Old Cardinals Stadium in high school
- 1:26:08Speaker 1: and then got to run all over the turf and
- 1:26:11Speaker 1: the stairs during the academy fun times. What do you
- 1:26:15Speaker 1: mean during the academy Do you know what he's talking about? Jamie,
- 1:26:18Speaker 1: I don't know. Oh yeah, oh that's what it is.
- 1:26:22Speaker 1: I didn't realize y'all did that during the academy. Good
- 1:26:25Speaker 1: for you, Jamie. Patrick Tex said we were short of
- 1:26:32Speaker 1: splitting one thousand dollars for the top eight. The team
- 1:26:35Speaker 1: of the winning team got seven thousand dollars in a
- 1:26:38Speaker 1: free paid entry into the National Championship in Las Vegas,
- 1:26:41Speaker 1: and he played in a BCA call pocket. Last at
- 1:26:46Speaker 1: the Ohio State Championship in Wilmington, Ohio, Team Hoo's Your
- 1:26:50Speaker 1: Daddy finished ninth through sixteenth, one short of the money
- 1:26:57Speaker 1: and the silver bracket. We were seated ninth after five
- 1:27:00Speaker 1: match round Robin. I hadn't played with the teammates from
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: Muncie before the before and the captain was very proud
- 1:27:09Speaker 1: of my pull shooting IQ. That's pretty cool right there,
- 1:27:13Speaker 1: great weekend. Yeah, that is.
- 1:27:16Speaker 2: Uh not a good representation of who's your natty to
- 1:27:19Speaker 2: finish ninth Patrick.
- 1:27:20Speaker 1: No, but that's okay. I mean, that's okay. I need
- 1:27:23Speaker 1: Jamie to come out and assist me when I go part.
- 1:27:25Speaker 1: My car just wants you to know that. Uh. Would
- 1:27:30Speaker 1: you like UK getting a regular season matchup against Wichita
- 1:27:34Speaker 1: State first time? Ever that they're going to be playing
- 1:27:39Speaker 1: Wichita State in uh. Of course, you know there are
- 1:27:42Speaker 1: some famous games not too far past of playing Wichita
- 1:27:45Speaker 1: State in the NCAA Tournament I'm sorry basketball November twenty
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: seventh at Reperina UH. And it's first time the schools
- 1:27:54Speaker 1: have played in regular season. I think that's gonna be fun.
- 1:27:56Speaker 1: I like that matchup, that's fun.
- 1:27:59Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean which tall states not near what they
- 1:28:01Speaker 2: used to be or what they were back when the
- 1:28:05Speaker 2: history was going down in what twenty fifteen? Yeah, but
- 1:28:08Speaker 2: I mean still a pretty respectable team. Yeah, it iscake,
- 1:28:12Speaker 2: Yeah exactly.
- 1:28:13Speaker 1: And I like the fact that it's gonna be a
- 1:28:14Speaker 1: repper end, it's not gonna be some neutral site and
- 1:28:17Speaker 1: that kind of crap. But Big Blue Madness has also
- 1:28:20Speaker 1: been scheduled for Friday, October second at Rep. John Wall
- 1:28:24Speaker 1: As we all know, was the big surprise last year.
- 1:28:27Speaker 1: As far as the guest, who do you think would
- 1:28:30Speaker 1: be a big surprise this year? If they were able
- 1:28:34Speaker 1: to bring somebody in? Is there anybody out there you
- 1:28:36Speaker 1: can think of, former player, anybody that would be fun
- 1:28:41Speaker 1: for UK to celebrate on the night of Big Blue Madness.
- 1:28:47Speaker 1: I mean a cat probably coming off an NBA title.
- 1:28:52Speaker 1: That's exactly what I was thinking. Golly, okay, we have
- 1:28:56Speaker 1: thought way too much alike today. So yeah, it should
- 1:29:01Speaker 1: be scary for you because it's not for me. I mean,
- 1:29:03Speaker 1: for you to think in my mind is really a
- 1:29:05Speaker 1: fearful thing. I think Shay Gilgos would be a great
- 1:29:09Speaker 1: one him too. You know, well, who are you? Oh
- 1:29:12Speaker 1: you think a cat? Oh? I'm sorry. I was thinking
- 1:29:15Speaker 1: c A T. Yes, I was thinking Shay Gilgis and
- 1:29:18Speaker 1: I was thinking, okay, Karl Anthony Towns would be a
- 1:29:20Speaker 1: really good one. Yeah, another one that's no longer playing
- 1:29:24Speaker 1: right now. I was kind of thinking about DeMarcus Cousins.
- 1:29:27Speaker 1: You fought you have John Wall last year, why not
- 1:29:30Speaker 1: follow it up with uh DeMarcus Cousins this year? I mean,
- 1:29:35Speaker 1: why him though? Why not? Just because he played on
- 1:29:39Speaker 1: the same team. That's why that same first team that
- 1:29:42Speaker 1: was at UK, and let's celebrate what. I can't think
- 1:29:46Speaker 1: the last time that DeMarcus Cousins was at UK. I
- 1:29:50Speaker 1: don't know. I just thought it'd be kind of nice
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: to have celebrate DeMarcus Cousins like, I mean, if he
- 1:29:54Speaker 1: had done something recently. I agree with you, but he
- 1:29:56Speaker 1: hasn't he has it no if anything other than fighting.
- 1:29:59Speaker 1: And yeah, I know that whole thing that happened down
- 1:30:03Speaker 1: there in that league was not good. But uh, anyway,
- 1:30:05Speaker 1: he's got to clean up his act and and be
- 1:30:08Speaker 1: celebrated and maybe that'll help. You mean, he's got to
- 1:30:10Speaker 1: not be DeMarcus Cousins. Yeah, no, he's no, no, no, no.
- 1:30:13Speaker 1: I think there's a difference there, and I think that's
- 1:30:15Speaker 1: the one he's trying to clean up. There is a
- 1:30:17Speaker 1: difference between DeMarcus and Boogie, and I think that's the
- 1:30:21Speaker 1: Boogie Cousins. I've always only ever seen him as Boogie. Yeah.
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: Well that's why because remember he said last year, listen,
- 1:30:28Speaker 1: I want to get rid of the whole Boogie image.
- 1:30:31Speaker 1: I want to become DeMarcus Cousins. So maybe if he does,
- 1:30:35Speaker 1: and you bring him back and introduce him as to
- 1:30:37Speaker 1: Marcus Cousins, and that gets a little rid of that
- 1:30:39Speaker 1: whole thing. So it looks like Friday is going to
- 1:30:42Speaker 1: be the day we find out about here in Louisville.
- 1:30:44Speaker 1: The judge that's going to uh uh tell us if
- 1:30:47Speaker 1: he's going to prove this uh lawsuit or whatever you
- 1:30:51Speaker 1: want to call it with Mark Uh, Mark Mitchell, and
- 1:30:55Speaker 1: Uh and in a bunch of other players. I mean,
- 1:30:57Speaker 1: what do you think they will route rule? Do you
- 1:30:59Speaker 1: think think they'll rule in favor? Because you know, NCAA
- 1:31:02Speaker 1: really wanted them to delay this, and the reason they
- 1:31:05Speaker 1: wanted to delay it, you know why, is because then
- 1:31:08Speaker 1: school has already starting. Guess what, Yeah, school's already started.
- 1:31:11Speaker 1: They can't get back into college athletics because of that,
- 1:31:15Speaker 1: whereas the school's like, well, hurry yup because school's getting
- 1:31:18Speaker 1: ready to start.
- 1:31:20Speaker 2: It's really hard to figure this specific situation out because
- 1:31:24Speaker 2: there's been so many injunctions across the country that it's like,
- 1:31:28Speaker 2: which one are we going to listen to? I know
- 1:31:31Speaker 2: it's like the Colorado one. Mark Mitchell's not eligible to
- 1:31:34Speaker 2: go to Kentucky, but in some of the other injunctions
- 1:31:38Speaker 2: he could, So I have no idea. I hate that
- 1:31:41Speaker 2: it's dragging out this long. I hate that we're already
- 1:31:44Speaker 2: in what day four or five of this pull saga
- 1:31:46Speaker 2: trying to figure it out.
- 1:31:47Speaker 1: Yeah, just make a decision and let's move on. Exactly
- 1:31:50Speaker 1: everybody else is ruled in favor of letting these athletes play.
- 1:31:55Speaker 1: Why do we need to do it again? This is like, okay,
- 1:31:57Speaker 1: we've already got a number of them. If I was
- 1:32:00Speaker 1: a judge here, it's like I'm going to fall suit
- 1:32:02Speaker 1: with everybody else. Okay, everybody else, Come on, forget the
- 1:32:05Speaker 1: transfer if your name was in the transfer portal, portal
- 1:32:08Speaker 1: or not, because that's the Colorado one. Then you got
- 1:32:10Speaker 1: the Tennessee and the Florida one. Says that doesn't matter.
- 1:32:14Speaker 1: You can go ahead and roll and go play. I mean,
- 1:32:17Speaker 1: what's gonna take so long for a guy that here
- 1:32:20Speaker 1: in Louisville that needs to decide between well, Tennessee and
- 1:32:23Speaker 1: Florida and Colorado. I don't understand it. It's a lot.
- 1:32:27Speaker 1: It is, it's too much, and n c DOUBLEA keeps losing.
- 1:32:32Speaker 1: Stop fighting. Let it happen. Let's just move on. Let
- 1:32:34Speaker 1: these players play, and then let's figure a way to
- 1:32:37Speaker 1: get all this resolved so that next year we're all
- 1:32:41Speaker 1: consistent in every single state. You can and you can't.
- 1:32:45Speaker 1: And then you got to get the cool schools all
- 1:32:47Speaker 1: agree to it, and either we're going to agree with
- 1:32:50Speaker 1: everything the n CUBA says. We can't continue to fight
- 1:32:53Speaker 1: every single year. I thought it was pretty cool that
- 1:32:55Speaker 1: Rajon Rondo revealed on a a podcast that's ty MAXI
- 1:33:01Speaker 1: is allowing Rajon's son Pierre work out with him. How
- 1:33:06Speaker 1: do you like what a kind of advantage is that
- 1:33:08Speaker 1: for a young man that's trying to get into basketball.
- 1:33:11Speaker 1: That huge? That is uh? And Tyree said, this is
- 1:33:15Speaker 1: that he's trying to give back to Rajon because Rajon
- 1:33:19Speaker 1: was very instrumental in Tyresee's game and allowing him to
- 1:33:25Speaker 1: come practice with him. So he says, it's a way
- 1:33:27Speaker 1: for me to pay back. So he said, I remember
- 1:33:29Speaker 1: getting up at five thirty am to go work out
- 1:33:32Speaker 1: with Rajon Rondo and guess what now, Pierre is doing
- 1:33:35Speaker 1: the exact same thing. I mean, that's just awesome. I
- 1:33:38Speaker 1: love that. So oh you think so? I mean, my goodness,
- 1:33:44Speaker 1: I mean that's just incredible. But yeah, being able to
- 1:33:47Speaker 1: do that, all right, I don't know if I'll be
- 1:33:51Speaker 1: on tomorrow or whiz your Thursday. I've got to go
- 1:33:54Speaker 1: to a funeral. And I'm sure everyone understands. And so
- 1:33:58Speaker 1: it's been tough weekend in my household. Say a little
- 1:34:00Speaker 1: prayer for my wife because she's really struggling with this.
- 1:34:03Speaker 1: It's been it's been a little hard on us. But anyway, Uh,
- 1:34:07Speaker 1: but uh, you know, I'll I'll tweet out whether we're
- 1:34:09Speaker 1: gonna be on or not, but hopefully we will be
- 1:34:11Speaker 1: all right. Justin Appreciate it, of course, and everybody have
- 1:34:14Speaker 1: a great day. Appreciate you. Listen to Jessica. Now go
- 1:34:17Speaker 1: move your car, turn the lights off. Jerry me
