- 0:02Speaker 1: Welcome to Just the Cats with Michael Bennett. Hello, Big
- 0:10Speaker 1: Blue Nation. Welcome to Just the Cats. My name is
- 0:14Speaker 1: Michael Bennett on this Wednesday, October 20th. I hope everybody's
- 0:18Speaker 1: having a great day. What the heck? Justin, are you
- 0:20Speaker 1: okay over there? I'm good. Why? It's Wednesday. It's not Wednesday. Oh,
- 0:26Speaker 1: my gosh, it's Tuesday. Wow, now you have to work
- 0:28Speaker 1: six days this week. I do. What has happened? I mean,
- 0:33Speaker 1: I could have sworn it was Wednesday. Did you just
- 0:35Speaker 1: say Wednesday? I did. I didn't even pay attention to
- 0:36Speaker 1: you saying Wednesday. Well, it's new. So, listen, I do
- 0:40Speaker 1: my best not to pay attention to me, so I
- 0:42Speaker 1: don't blame you. I can't believe I said it's Wednesday. Yeah,
- 0:45Speaker 1: it's Tuesday, so there you go. I've totally screwed up,
- 0:49Speaker 1: but it's Tuesday, October 20th. Sorry about that, everybody. Tuesday! Yeah,
- 0:56Speaker 1: we're not closer to the weekend. We're further away, because I,
- 1:00Speaker 1: Michael Bennett, just screwed that up. But hopefully everybody's having
- 1:03Speaker 1: a great day. Man, what a beautiful sunrise this morning.
- 1:06Speaker 1: I mean, just absolutely amazing. Well, thank you.
- 1:09Speaker 2: I worked hard putting it together, so I appreciate you
- 1:11Speaker 2: for that. I mean, we had a lot of texts
- 1:14Speaker 2: that helped out. Well done, Justin. But yeah, the sky
- 1:19Speaker 2: is just as brilliant as it gets out there. I mean,
- 1:21Speaker 2: I do, I know it sounds kind of cheesy, but
- 1:26Speaker 2: I do enjoy and admire- A beautiful sunrise and a
- 1:31Speaker 2: beautiful sunset. Is that kind of on the cheesy side,
- 1:34Speaker 2: or is that just because I'm getting older in age
- 1:36Speaker 2: and it's not it?
- 1:37Speaker 1: It's because you appreciate the finer things in life. Is
- 1:40Speaker 1: that what it is? Yeah. Everybody likes a sunset and sunrise.
- 1:43Speaker 1: They're gorgeous. How is that the finer thing in life, though?
- 1:46Speaker 1: I mean, that's something free. Something that's finer in life
- 1:49Speaker 1: means it's expensive. Yeah, but see, I have a different definition. Okay, good.
- 1:53Speaker 1: I like that.
- 1:54Speaker 2: I think the finer things in life are the ones
- 1:56Speaker 2: that people don't always appreciate.
- 1:59Speaker 1: Ooh.
- 1:59Speaker 2: And they don't have to necessarily have a monetary value.
- 2:03Speaker 1: Yeah. Okay, good. Like a sunrise and sunset. I think
- 2:06Speaker 1: those are the finer things. Okay. Or time with family.
- 2:09Speaker 1: It's the finer things in life. I like the way
- 2:12Speaker 1: you describe that. Okay, I'm going to buy into that. So, yes,
- 2:16Speaker 1: I do appreciate the finer things in life. And I
- 2:18Speaker 1: think Justin Kalen, with that description right there, enjoys it
- 2:21Speaker 1: probably more than anybody.
- 2:22Speaker 3: Yep.
- 2:23Speaker 1: So there you go. But, yeah, you did have a
- 2:26Speaker 1: good sunrise with Scoots, I will say. But you do
- 2:28Speaker 1: that every morning. That's true. Yeah. When you're good, you're good.
- 2:31Speaker 1: How was your golf game yesterday? It was okay. Yeah?
- 2:35Speaker 1: The driver was working very well. Really?
- 2:38Speaker 2: That's always fun when you can get off the tee
- 2:40Speaker 2: and put it where you want to put it. That's
- 2:42Speaker 2: always a good time. Ended up shooting a 92, which
- 2:45Speaker 2: I was pretty happy with that. But I got paired
- 2:47Speaker 2: with three randoms. Oh, you were playing by yourself? Yeah,
- 2:52Speaker 2: so Mike was supposed to go down early, too, and play,
- 2:54Speaker 2: but he wasn't able to get off with watching the
- 2:56Speaker 2: kids or whatever he had to do yesterday.
- 2:58Speaker 1: What is wrong with him?
- 2:59Speaker 2: So he just came down and did the show. He
- 3:01Speaker 2: did get out and got to play a few of
- 3:02Speaker 2: the par three holes, so at least he got to
- 3:04Speaker 2: do something. But, yeah, so I go in. First of all,
- 3:07Speaker 2: my tee time was at 942. So when Trevor doesn't
- 3:11Speaker 2: show up at 8 o'clock, I know immediately that I'm screwed.
- 3:15Speaker 2: I am not making my 942 tee time. So I
- 3:19Speaker 2: had to call them on the way down during one
- 3:21Speaker 2: of your all's commercial breaks, and I was like, hey,
- 3:23Speaker 2: what else you got? She's like, I can get you
- 3:25Speaker 2: off at 1030. We got a spot open. I didn't
- 3:27Speaker 2: know if she said there was a spot open or
- 3:30Speaker 2: only one book. So I didn't know if I was
- 3:33Speaker 2: going to play with three guys or with one guy,
- 3:36Speaker 2: but I get down there and she's like, yeah, you're
- 3:38Speaker 2: good to go. We got you with three guys. And
- 3:40Speaker 2: I was like, oh, okay, cool. So I go outside,
- 3:42Speaker 2: introduce myself to them. Turns out they're from Indianapolis. They're
- 3:47Speaker 2: all right about my age. All Indiana alums. Oh, here
- 3:52Speaker 2: we go. We proceeded to have an absolute blast talking
- 3:56Speaker 2: about college memories and.
- 3:58Speaker 1: The football team. And it was, it was great. We
- 4:01Speaker 1: had an absolute blast. That's great. Okay. I'm very happy.
- 4:05Speaker 2: And so I did the thing, you know how, when
- 4:07Speaker 2: you you're paired with strangers, it's always kind of nerve
- 4:09Speaker 2: wracking because you never know what version of your game
- 4:12Speaker 2: you're going to get.
- 4:13Speaker 1: Yes.
- 4:13Speaker 2: I told them that up front. I was like, guys,
- 4:15Speaker 2: my golf game this summer has been very hit or miss.
- 4:18Speaker 2: So we'll see what ends up happening. I come out
- 4:21Speaker 2: and I part the first two holes.
- 4:23Speaker 1: It was incredible. Holy cow. I played them.
- 4:26Speaker 2: About as perfect because I could play them and they
- 4:28Speaker 2: must have been thinking, man, this guy's awesome. And then
- 4:31Speaker 2: I got a nine on the third. That's what always
- 4:35Speaker 2: happens right there. You know, it's funny when I haven't
- 4:38Speaker 2: played in a while.
- 4:39Speaker 1: I'll get out there and shoot really well because I'm
- 4:42Speaker 1: expecting to play really bad.
- 4:43Speaker 2: I am convinced of that as well. If you take
- 4:46Speaker 2: some time off and then get back into it, you'll
- 4:48Speaker 2: play better than you ever have.
- 4:49Speaker 1: Couldn't agree more. But I'm glad you got to go
- 4:52Speaker 1: out there. Yeah, it was awesome. It was a perfect
- 4:54Speaker 1: day for it. I can't believe you're doing a remote
- 4:56Speaker 1: way down there. Yeah. It was a long day. I
- 5:00Speaker 1: woke up.
- 5:01Speaker 2: I left my house yesterday about 6.15, didn't get home
- 5:03Speaker 2: until almost 7.30.
- 5:05Speaker 1: Was anybody there that wanted to hear about UofL Sports?
- 5:09Speaker 1: I would think that would be UK country.
- 5:11Speaker 2: Well, that's our thing. Nobody ever really comes to those
- 5:14Speaker 2: remotes just because it is so far away. But the
- 5:16Speaker 2: golfers always get a kick out of it because we're
- 5:18Speaker 2: set up right by one of the tee boxes there.
- 5:22Speaker 2: So we're always commenting on people's golf shots and all that.
- 5:25Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 5:25Speaker 1: You don't want me doing that. It's fun. Oh, I
- 5:28Speaker 1: don't know if golfers would appreciate Michael Bennett out there.
- 5:31Speaker 1: Probably not. No.
- 5:32Speaker 2: But I did feel bad because at one point there
- 5:34Speaker 2: was a guy– It was just him and his son.
- 5:36Speaker 2: His son wasn't playing. He was probably like six years old. Well,
- 5:39Speaker 2: he tees off and his ball goes about 150 yards
- 5:44Speaker 2: to the right into the thick, thick weeds.
- 5:47Speaker 1: Right.
- 5:47Speaker 2: And I wasn't even thinking. I was just kind of
- 5:48Speaker 2: being myself. So I hit him with a see ya.
- 5:53Speaker 2: And then Rutherford calls me out. He's like, you don't
- 5:55Speaker 2: have to be a jerk about it. Oh, my gosh.
- 5:58Speaker 1: I don't even think he could hear me. But then
- 5:59Speaker 1: he did look back. So I think he did. Oh,
- 6:01Speaker 1: he definitely. If he looked back at you, he heard you. Yeah.
- 6:05Speaker 1: I kind of felt like a jerk for that. You
- 6:07Speaker 1: were a jerk for that. How old was the kid?
- 6:09Speaker 1: The kid was probably six. Yeah, that was cruel, okay?
- 6:14Speaker 1: He's probably still crying looking for his golf ball.
- 6:17Speaker 2: No, it was the dad that hit. Oh, the dad
- 6:19Speaker 2: that hit. It was the dad that hit. The kid
- 6:20Speaker 2: wasn't playing. The kid was just doing the thing where
- 6:24Speaker 2: when dad was getting ready for his approach shots and
- 6:26Speaker 2: all that, he would send his kid into the thick
- 6:29Speaker 2: grass to look for golf balls.
- 6:31Speaker 1: How great would it have been if the kid turned
- 6:32Speaker 1: around and said, suck it, Scoots? I mean, that would
- 6:35Speaker 1: have been just awesome. That would have been one of
- 6:38Speaker 1: the greatest things ever to happen. All right, let's talk
- 6:41Speaker 1: about it. You know, the app. The AP Top 25
- 6:46Speaker 1: College Basketball Preseason Poll came out yesterday. No Hoosiers. No Hoosiers.
- 6:53Speaker 1: And your University of Kentucky Wildcats barely made it at 23.
- 6:59Speaker 1: Does that concern you? Does that concern me? I, I,
- 7:03Speaker 1: I don't know if it necessarily concerns me more than
- 7:06Speaker 1: it disappoints me. It's like, okay. I brought up the
- 7:11Speaker 1: point yesterday on social media that, um, If this was
- 7:17Speaker 1: Cal coming in here, we would be going, the fan
- 7:21Speaker 1: base would be going crazy. And I said, are we
- 7:24Speaker 1: not going nuts over the fact that we are now?
- 7:28Speaker 1: Because when Mark Pope came to town two years ago,
- 7:32Speaker 1: UK was preseason 23. I'm good with that. First season,
- 7:35Speaker 1: he's had to put a team together really quickly, have
- 7:39Speaker 1: no problem with it. Last year, we come in, check
- 7:42Speaker 1: in at number nine. We're in the top 10, doing
- 7:44Speaker 1: really well. Now it seems like we're going way backwards.
- 7:48Speaker 1: And there were a lot of people that mentioned to me, Michael,
- 7:51Speaker 1: you don't think we're going crazy? And I'm like, I
- 7:53Speaker 1: don't know. It just doesn't feel like the fan base
- 7:57Speaker 1: is upset. Almost it feels like the fan base is numb.
- 8:01Speaker 1: They don't know what to feel. Or is it the
- 8:04Speaker 1: fact that they're still just locked into football? See, and
- 8:07Speaker 1: I think that's a great point as well. And that's
- 8:10Speaker 1: my whole point. That's where Will Stein is really saving.
- 8:16Speaker 1: Mark Pope's job for a little bit because of the
- 8:19Speaker 1: distraction of the football team and the tremendous success that
- 8:24Speaker 1: they're having. So you think it's more of that right there?
- 8:27Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, and that coupled with, honestly, I don't
- 8:31Speaker 2: know how accurate the AP top 25 in the preseason
- 8:36Speaker 2: is going to be moving forward because it is so
- 8:39Speaker 2: hard to figure out how these teams are going to
- 8:43Speaker 2: look with all the new pieces and all that coming
- 8:46Speaker 2: from the transfer portal. I just don't know how anybody
- 8:49Speaker 2: can realistically sit down and figure out a top 25
- 8:53Speaker 2: based on all these new players.
- 8:55Speaker 1: Oh, you can't. That was always my criticism. When they
- 8:57Speaker 1: would put UK at number one, two, three, or four,
- 9:01Speaker 1: something like that, and it's a brand-new team, a bunch
- 9:03Speaker 1: of freshmen, you've never seen this team play together. It's like,
- 9:06Speaker 1: how do you rate them that high? And I was
- 9:08Speaker 1: critical of UK back then. And I think it was deserved.
- 9:12Speaker 1: But on the other hand, they're just going with tradition.
- 9:15Speaker 1: And that's what football is. They always go with the
- 9:17Speaker 1: traditional successful schools in your top 10. And then with basketball,
- 9:22Speaker 1: they kind of did the same thing. Now they're kind
- 9:24Speaker 1: of calling out fraud with UK basketball. And they're saying, okay,
- 9:29Speaker 1: now we're going to put you where we think you
- 9:30Speaker 1: deserve to be. And truth of the matter is, I
- 9:33Speaker 1: kind of think they're right. I mean, this is after
- 9:36Speaker 1: watching it now, granted, I know Mark Pope made the comment.
- 9:40Speaker 1: After the exhibition game Friday against Little Rock, that he
- 9:46Speaker 1: played a vanilla game. But they just, they didn't show
- 9:50Speaker 1: me anything. And maybe that was the whole intention right there,
- 9:54Speaker 1: is not to show anybody anything. Do you like, all right,
- 9:57Speaker 1: so Florida's number one.
- 9:59Speaker 4: Mm-hmm.
- 10:00Speaker 1: I have no issue with that. I do. They just
- 10:02Speaker 1: got beat by Baylor. Okay. In an exhibition, you think
- 10:07Speaker 1: that's going to matter in an exhibition?
- 10:09Speaker 2: It mattered last year when Kentucky beat Purdue.
- 10:13Speaker 1: Yeah. And then, well, that did show that Purdue wasn't
- 10:17Speaker 1: very good, though. No, they turned out to be okay.
- 10:21Speaker 1: They turned out to be okay. So did they deserve
- 10:24Speaker 1: to be number one last year? No. I think so,
- 10:27Speaker 1: with all the returning pieces. Okay.
- 10:29Speaker 2: I mean, I was kind of saying that tongue-in-cheek there. Okay,
- 10:32Speaker 2: I got you. I think Florida should be number one. Yeah,
- 10:35Speaker 2: I'm right there. I think Florida. Now, Duke, I don't know.
- 10:40Speaker 2: What do you think about Duke being right there? Because that,
- 10:43Speaker 2: to me, is just like, oh, the tradition is still there.
- 10:46Speaker 2: I don't know what kind of team Duke's going to have,
- 10:48Speaker 2: but number two, I think that's kind of strong.
- 10:51Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, I, too. And that's the thing.
- 10:53Speaker 2: That's what I'm saying about this poll, is you don't
- 10:55Speaker 2: know who's going to be good, who's not. I mean,
- 10:58Speaker 2: Duke does have Caleb Foster back. They got Caden Boozer back.
- 11:02Speaker 2: Darren Rippey's a freshman that was highly ranked coming into
- 11:05Speaker 2: this season. Dame Saar is back. So, I mean, looking
- 11:08Speaker 2: at their roster... John Blackwell from Wisconsin forgot they got
- 11:11Speaker 2: him out of the portal.
- 11:12Speaker 1: Duke is going to be good. The one that surprises, well, two,
- 11:16Speaker 1: I would say. There's one A and one B. They
- 11:18Speaker 1: got Ngongbo back, too. Oh, yippee. Duke's going to be great. Okay,
- 11:21Speaker 1: they're going to be okay. I still think they always
- 11:24Speaker 1: lose in the Elite Eight. I think they'll do that
- 11:27Speaker 1: again this year. So I wouldn't count on Duke being
- 11:30Speaker 1: that great. Now, they'll dominate the ACC because it's an
- 11:33Speaker 1: okay conference in basketball. It's the fourth best in the country. Now,
- 11:39Speaker 1: The 1A is Tennessee being in the top 10. I'm
- 11:45Speaker 1: really surprised. Listen, I know Tennessee is probably the team
- 11:48Speaker 1: I can't... Well, behind Duke, they're the two teams I
- 11:52Speaker 1: can't stand the most in basketball. I actually like Rick Barnes.
- 11:56Speaker 1: You've heard me talk about Rick Barnes. I've always liked
- 11:58Speaker 1: Rick Barnes. He seems like a really nice guy and
- 12:01Speaker 1: a very good coach. But do you think Tennessee is
- 12:04Speaker 1: a number eight? I mean, based on... What I'm seeing
- 12:10Speaker 1: from the roster, yeah, I don't see why not.
- 12:12Speaker 3: Okay.
- 12:12Speaker 1: All right, then.
- 12:14Speaker 2: But again, I mean, it's going to take time to
- 12:16Speaker 2: figure out who's actually good and who's not. That's why
- 12:19Speaker 2: I don't read too much into the AP Top 25
- 12:22Speaker 2: preseason polls.
- 12:24Speaker 1: They just feel like a crapshoot. But it feels funny
- 12:27Speaker 1: that UofL spent all this money, and they come in
- 12:31Speaker 1: and check in at number 11. Mm-hmm. I thought that
- 12:34Speaker 1: was a bit of a surprise last year, or this year.
- 12:38Speaker 1: All the money, they've probably spent the most money in
- 12:42Speaker 1: college basketball this year, and they're checking in 11th. That's
- 12:45Speaker 1: kind of an issue right there.
- 12:46Speaker 2: Yeah, but, I mean, you also have the whole thing
- 12:48Speaker 2: still surrounding Seth Trimble. Is he going to be eligible?
- 12:50Speaker 1: Is he not?
- 12:51Speaker 2: I mean, and Louisville's not the only team like that.
- 12:54Speaker 2: There's several teams out there that are.
- 12:55Speaker 1: You're right. Your guys are eligible now, but will they
- 12:58Speaker 1: be in a month? Who knows? Who knows, yeah. Who knows?
- 13:01Speaker 1: But I'm just disappointed that, you know, Mark Pope's first year,
- 13:05Speaker 1: he ranks preseason 23. Last year, ranks number nine, and
- 13:09Speaker 1: then here we go backwards. I just, to me, this
- 13:12Speaker 1: is unacceptable for U.K. basketball.
- 13:16Speaker 2: I don't want you to judge it like that. And
- 13:18Speaker 2: I don't think it's fair for you to judge it
- 13:20Speaker 2: like that.
- 13:20Speaker 1: I think it is. I think it's very much fair
- 13:23Speaker 1: to judge it like this. Why is it not fair?
- 13:25Speaker 2: Because you just brought up Louisville, who spent all this money,
- 13:27Speaker 2: and you don't think it's right that they're number 11,
- 13:30Speaker 2: where UK spent just as much money.
- 13:33Speaker 1: They were right behind Louisville. And they're 23. That's an issue.
- 13:36Speaker 1: So you should have a problem with the AP, not
- 13:39Speaker 1: for Kentucky. Oh, I have my problems with AP. We've
- 13:42Speaker 1: talked about that on... on the football side. But no,
- 13:46Speaker 1: I just kind of feel like, well, is Mark Pope
- 13:48Speaker 1: getting a bit of a pass? And I think you're
- 13:51Speaker 1: right as far as to say that I think the
- 13:54Speaker 1: side effect is UK football and their success. So that's
- 13:59Speaker 1: what's kind of driven people to not really pay attention
- 14:02Speaker 1: to preseason. So I don't, I just, to me, it's
- 14:07Speaker 1: not right for UK to be outside of the top 15.
- 14:11Speaker 1: They have a tradition, and I just kind of feel
- 14:15Speaker 1: like it's been driven down a little bit, and I'm
- 14:17Speaker 1: not happy about it. So you want the Notre Dame treatment. No,
- 14:20Speaker 1: I don't think.
- 14:21Speaker 3: No, no, no.
- 14:21Speaker 2: That's not what I'm saying. That's what it sounded like
- 14:23Speaker 2: you were saying. You want Kentucky to be in the
- 14:25Speaker 2: top 15 because.
- 14:26Speaker 1: Of their history. No, I am not making fun of
- 14:29Speaker 1: the AP on this poll. I think UK is ranked
- 14:31Speaker 1: exactly where they should be. They're a complete unknown. But
- 14:36Speaker 1: I blame Mark Pope for having the team go this
- 14:40Speaker 1: far down. It's a Mark Pope issue I'm having with.
- 14:44Speaker 1: It's not an AP issue. So I think the poll
- 14:47Speaker 1: is right. I just don't think it's right for Mark
- 14:51Speaker 1: Pope to have driven this team from a number nine
- 14:55Speaker 1: preseason last year, and now we're a number 23. That's embarrassing.
- 15:00Speaker 1: I blame Mark Pope. But that's not fair to Mark Pope. Yeah,
- 15:04Speaker 1: it is. No, it's not. Okay.
- 15:06Speaker 2: Because if this team comes out and you all start,
- 15:09Speaker 2: just say, 9-1, you're not going to be 23 anymore.
- 15:13Speaker 1: You're not going to be. But I think preseason we
- 15:16Speaker 1: should be ranked better than we have been. And Mark
- 15:19Speaker 1: Pope is taking those rankings the opposite way. I'm going
- 15:22Speaker 1: to be very critical of Mark Pope this year. No,
- 15:24Speaker 1: and I understand that.
- 15:25Speaker 2: I just don't know how this particular situation is a
- 15:28Speaker 2: Mark Pope issue when– It's the AP voters that are
- 15:32Speaker 2: putting this poll together.
- 15:33Speaker 1: This isn't Mark Pope. Because the AP voters don't believe
- 15:36Speaker 1: in Mark Pope either, like the fan base doesn't.
- 15:38Speaker 2: Is it Mark Pope or do they don't believe in
- 15:40Speaker 2: this roster? I think it's a combination. Or is it
- 15:45Speaker 2: ignorance and they don't know what this roster is all about?
- 15:47Speaker 2: Because I think it's option three.
- 15:49Speaker 1: Oh, do you really? Okay. Like I said, I mean,
- 15:51Speaker 1: I don't know how anybody.
- 15:52Speaker 2: Can judge a roster right now based on how you
- 15:56Speaker 2: did out of the transfer portal because you still don't
- 15:57Speaker 2: know how the pieces are going to fit together.
- 15:59Speaker 1: You become a Mark Pope supporter.
- 16:01Speaker 2: No, I'm just tired of him getting hate, especially in
- 16:04Speaker 2: this situation.
- 16:05Speaker 1: It's not hate.
- 16:06Speaker 2: It's criticism. This isn't his fault. He put together a
- 16:09Speaker 2: good roster. You all were a top three team in
- 16:13Speaker 2: transfer portal rankings. Everything should work itself out. I just
- 16:18Speaker 2: don't know why the– I don't get the ranking either.
- 16:22Speaker 1: Yeah. So you think UK should be ranked higher is
- 16:25Speaker 1: what you're saying?
- 16:26Speaker 2: Based on the transfer portal rankings and as much money
- 16:30Speaker 2: as they spent?
- 16:30Speaker 1: Yeah, I do. Do you? Okay. That's fair.
- 16:35Speaker 2: College basketball is wonky.
- 16:37Speaker 1: I just don't think they deserve a higher ranking. I
- 16:40Speaker 1: think that's where they should be and that's where they are.
- 16:42Speaker 1: So anyway, we got to take our first break. 502-384-1450.
- 16:46Speaker 1: You want to call in 502-414-1450. You want to text
- 16:51Speaker 1: in on the Whiskey Thief text line or you can
- 16:52Speaker 1: tweet me at justacatradio. Yeah, we're going to talk about that.
- 16:56Speaker 1: I got a few people texting and we'll see what
- 16:58Speaker 1: they say, but we're also going to talk about some
- 17:04Speaker 1: SEC awards that went out this week for a particular
- 17:08Speaker 1: player that was deserved as well as Another team got
- 17:11Speaker 1: fined for going out in the field. Let the fan
- 17:15Speaker 1: base have fun. We'll talk about that, too. Stay right there.
- 17:18Speaker 1: This is Just the Cats.
- 17:20Speaker 4: We move through the world like shooting stars across the sky.
- 17:30Speaker 4: Splitting through the darkness, putting the light into their eyes.
- 17:37Speaker 1: Oh, oh, oh. From the land of the ice and snow,
- 18:04Speaker 1: from the midnight sound of a hot spring.
- 18:07Speaker 4: To the low.
- 18:08Speaker 1: The hammer of the cold will drive our ships to
- 18:12Speaker 1: new land.
- 18:12Speaker 4: Fight the horde.
- 18:21Speaker 1: I think this is the first time you've ever played
- 18:23Speaker 1: Led Zeppelin on this show. Absolutely not. It's not?
- 18:27Speaker 4: No.
- 18:27Speaker 1: Okay, then I just don't remember. I mean, nothing like
- 18:29Speaker 1: Get the Led Out. I've definitely played Black Dog. Have
- 18:32Speaker 1: you really? Of course. Okay, I stand corrected. I apologize.
- 18:35Speaker 1: But if you want to join us, 502-384-1450, 502-414-1450, if
- 18:38Speaker 1: you want to text me on the Whiskey Thief text line.
- 18:44Speaker 1: One person said, it's going to be tough for Pope.
- 18:47Speaker 1: There are 20 teams that are the best team ever. Wait, what?
- 18:52Speaker 1: There are 20 teams that are the best team ever.
- 18:56Speaker 1: I don't get it either. It's going to be tough
- 18:58Speaker 1: for Pope. There are 20 teams that are the best
- 19:00Speaker 1: team ever. Does he mean the 2020s or does he
- 19:07Speaker 1: mean there are 20 other teams that are their best
- 19:09Speaker 1: team ever? I don't know. I can't figure that out.
- 19:11Speaker 1: I can't either. But here's the issue I have, Justin,
- 19:15Speaker 1: is that... Text me back what you mean, Texter. Florida, Texas... UT, Arkansas, Alabama,
- 19:24Speaker 1: or Tennessee, Arkansas, Alabama are all passing UK basketball. Or
- 19:30Speaker 1: have passed UK basketball. I don't believe that to be true.
- 19:35Speaker 1: You don't? I don't know if Tennessee is or not.
- 19:39Speaker 1: I mean, we're going to play a game in a
- 19:41Speaker 1: little bit of college football where it's with the top
- 19:46Speaker 1: few teams in the country. as if they're fraud or
- 19:49Speaker 1: not fraud. I'm almost kind of feeling like doing the
- 19:53Speaker 1: same with basketball as well. Because I'll tell you right now,
- 19:57Speaker 1: Florida is, as you mentioned too, Florida is not a fraud.
- 20:01Speaker 1: I am really not convinced of Texas. No, me neither.
- 20:06Speaker 1: Tennessee and or Arkansas too. Alabama, I think, is a
- 20:12Speaker 1: pretty good team. Vanderbilt, you're going to laugh at me,
- 20:16Speaker 1: but I think Vanderbilt is going to be better than
- 20:18Speaker 1: everybody predicts. I'm not laughing at that. Okay, good. I'm
- 20:21Speaker 1: a Tyler Tanner believer. Are you really? Yeah. Listen, I
- 20:24Speaker 1: am too. And for them to be ranked 24th, it's
- 20:27Speaker 1: because Vanderbilt is in front of the name. I think
- 20:30Speaker 1: they should be ranked higher. I think they should be
- 20:32Speaker 1: around 18, 19, if I'm completely honest. I think that's
- 20:36Speaker 1: where Vanderbilt should be, not 24. Go ahead.
- 20:40Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, I'm looking at this Texas roster. I'm
- 20:43Speaker 2: not big on them either. I mean, they got Volca
- 20:45Speaker 2: Titus still. They did get David Punch from TCU, who
- 20:49Speaker 2: I think is a great piece.
- 20:50Speaker 1: Right. Yeah, I'm not quite sure why they're getting the
- 20:53Speaker 1: love they are. I don't get it either. Arkansas is
- 20:56Speaker 1: getting the love purely because of Cal. That's it. But
- 21:01Speaker 1: I tend to think they're a bit of a fraud. Tennessee...
- 21:05Speaker 1: What is it? I mean, UK, and this is where
- 21:08Speaker 1: I credit Mark Pope, and he's done a phenomenal job
- 21:11Speaker 1: against Rick Barnes' teams. He swept them the last two years,
- 21:16Speaker 1: hasn't he? With the exception of the SEC tournament. But
- 21:21Speaker 1: during the season, he's gone to Knoxville and has beaten
- 21:26Speaker 1: Tennessee in Lexington with teams that were just okay teams.
- 21:33Speaker 1: What is going on with Rick Barnes when he faces
- 21:36Speaker 1: Mark Pope in the University of Kentucky?
- 21:37Speaker 2: See, that's why I don't think Tennessee's passed up Kentucky.
- 21:39Speaker 2: I mean, maybe in the overall picture they have, but
- 21:42Speaker 2: Kentucky's still winning all those games.
- 21:44Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 21:45Speaker 2: And Texas, I don't know how long their life is
- 21:48Speaker 2: going to be, right? I mean, they for now maybe
- 21:51Speaker 2: have passed up Kentucky, but next year, who knows? I mean,
- 21:56Speaker 2: and we don't even know how this year's going to
- 21:58Speaker 2: play out. So is it really fair to say that?
- 22:01Speaker 2: anybody's passed up Kentucky because we could be talking about
- 22:04Speaker 2: this team five months from now being the best team
- 22:06Speaker 2: in the country.
- 22:07Speaker 1: Well, again, the media within the SEC is picking Kentucky
- 22:10Speaker 1: to come behind all of these teams here, all of them.
- 22:15Speaker 1: And I just, is that all right? Todd Golden, I
- 22:18Speaker 1: would agree. As far as in the SEC, he is,
- 22:22Speaker 1: you cannot argue with me. He's the best coach within
- 22:25Speaker 1: the SEC. As much as he's kind of a, I
- 22:28Speaker 1: don't know, is he a jerk? Is he kind of...
- 22:33Speaker 1: I think he's just cocky. Is that what it is?
- 22:35Speaker 1: But cockiness is one thing, but you can also be
- 22:39Speaker 1: cocky and a jerk. And I think that's what Lane
- 22:41Speaker 1: Kiffin is. Will Stein is cocky, but not in a
- 22:45Speaker 1: negative sense. I think he is in a very positive sense.
- 22:50Speaker 1: Am I making sense at all? Yeah. No, I'm with you.
- 22:54Speaker 1: Rick Barnes is not cocky. No. And maybe it's with age. Cal... Yeah,
- 23:01Speaker 1: he's a bit of a cocky guy. Nate Oates? Cocky. Yeah, yeah.
- 23:06Speaker 1: So I don't know. I look at this and it's
- 23:09Speaker 1: just like, I can't believe Kentucky keeps going down in
- 23:13Speaker 1: the list when it comes to basketball. And we're a
- 23:16Speaker 1: traditionally really good basketball program, basketball school. But here we are.
- 23:21Speaker 1: We just continue to go down. I just hate to
- 23:25Speaker 1: be so hard on Mark Pope, but I think it's deserved.
- 23:28Speaker 2: I just plead with you to take a step back.
- 23:32Speaker 2: Don't buy into what the media is saying. It's hard
- 23:35Speaker 2: not to. It's a crapshoot. You know a lot of
- 23:38Speaker 2: the SEC media members. They're not all the smartest guys
- 23:41Speaker 2: in the world. You know, I mean, it's don't see,
- 23:46Speaker 2: use your own eyes to make your own assessment of
- 23:49Speaker 2: what you think this team is. Don't base that off
- 23:51Speaker 2: of what the media tells you that you're supposed to
- 23:53Speaker 2: feel about this team.
- 23:54Speaker 1: Yeah, I hear you. But, you know, what bothers me
- 23:58Speaker 1: is that this can affect recruiting. When recruits are out
- 24:03Speaker 1: there saying, well, why do I want to consider Kentucky
- 24:05Speaker 1: when they're ranked all the way up there? That's why
- 24:07Speaker 1: rankings do matter.
- 24:10Speaker 2: You think the recruits are looking at the preseason rankings, though?
- 24:13Speaker 1: I think they are. No way. Yes, I really do.
- 24:16Speaker 1: I think they're looking at mid-season rankings, too. And you
- 24:19Speaker 1: saw UK fall out of the rankings for football. That mattered.
- 24:23Speaker 1: It mattered. I know you kept saying, Michael, don't worry
- 24:26Speaker 1: about it. But it does matter. UK needs and deserves
- 24:29Speaker 1: to be respected in football and basketball. Now, granted, I
- 24:33Speaker 1: don't think UK should deserve a better ranking than where
- 24:37Speaker 1: they are right now. But it does matter. And Mark
- 24:40Speaker 1: Pope needs to address this and get out there and
- 24:43Speaker 1: start getting better. Better players? I don't know. We'll just
- 24:46Speaker 1: see how it transpires.
- 24:48Speaker 2: I mean, would you feel better if he did this
- 24:50Speaker 2: thing this offseason than he did the last two offseasons?
- 24:52Speaker 1: Which is?
- 24:53Speaker 2: Hyping everybody up, and then the season starts, and everything
- 24:57Speaker 2: he said you saw wasn't true. Yeah, see, and I
- 25:00Speaker 2: agree with you right there. But he has been hyping
- 25:02Speaker 2: up the shooting again, and the shooting wasn't that great
- 25:07Speaker 2: last Friday night.
- 25:09Speaker 1: Anyway. It was littler. I know. I can throw that
- 25:14Speaker 1: right back at you. It was Little Rock.
- 25:17Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, I told you on Friday, you're not
- 25:19Speaker 2: going to be able to take anything from this game.
- 25:22Speaker 1: Yeah, you're right.
- 25:24Speaker 2: Now, Texas Tech on Friday, that's a different story. So
- 25:28Speaker 2: you think we should see something completely different. And if
- 25:31Speaker 2: UK comes out with a thud of a game, are
- 25:35Speaker 2: you going to be coming back to me and say, yeah,
- 25:36Speaker 2: you're right? No, because I'm waiting. I am waiting until
- 25:41Speaker 2: the regular season. If I've learned anything to do as
- 25:45Speaker 2: a sports fan, you've got to wait until the regular season.
- 25:47Speaker 1: Okay.
- 25:48Speaker 2: I mean, the Steelers every year. Like, look at the Chiefs.
- 25:51Speaker 2: John will agree with me on this. Chiefs every single–
- 25:53Speaker 2: I mean, they haven't won a preseason game in years.
- 25:56Speaker 2: I think like five, six years. And yet, they're in
- 26:00Speaker 2: the World Series– or World Series. Super Bowl seemingly every year.
- 26:04Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 26:05Speaker 2: So, I just– I don't take anything from preseason games.
- 26:08Speaker 2: The preseason games are there to get eyes on your team,
- 26:12Speaker 2: build excitement towards the season. And then that's, that's all
- 26:17Speaker 2: I see is an exhibition.
- 26:18Speaker 1: So what you're saying is that UK should not have
- 26:21Speaker 1: gotten excited last year when they beat Purdue in the preseason.
- 26:25Speaker 1: I mean, no. Yeah.
- 26:27Speaker 2: Yeah. It showed you that you can hang with the
- 26:28Speaker 2: big boys. That's all, but that's all it is, right?
- 26:30Speaker 2: You're just, you're seeing where you stack up with everybody else. That's,
- 26:34Speaker 2: that's the only thing that exhibition game is useful.
- 26:37Speaker 1: Okay. I mean, it's like, did you hear me even
- 26:40Speaker 1: bring up Indiana yesterday? No. I don't know why you
- 26:45Speaker 1: would bring up Indiana. Because we beat North Carolina by 19. Yeah.
- 26:49Speaker 1: Smoked them. But I'm not reading into that game. Yeah.
- 26:55Speaker 2: Because, I mean, we could play in the regular season again,
- 26:57Speaker 2: and they could win by 19.
- 26:59Speaker 1: You never know. You're right. You never know. It's just
- 27:03Speaker 1: disappointing to see, well, when you've been preseason ranked, I'm
- 27:11Speaker 1: so sorry, ranked regularly for many years in the top 10,
- 27:17Speaker 1: worst case, top 15, and now you're going the opposite way.
- 27:20Speaker 1: It's concerning to me. I wish it was. I wish
- 27:25Speaker 1: you wouldn't let that get under your skin. Well, as
- 27:30Speaker 1: much as you say preseason doesn't matter, I think it
- 27:33Speaker 1: does matter more than you give it credit for. So
- 27:36Speaker 1: we probably just need to meet in the middle. I'm
- 27:39Speaker 1: not meeting you anywhere. Okay, fine. I got my take,
- 27:42Speaker 1: and I'm sticking with it. See, I would have bought
- 27:43Speaker 1: you lunch, but forget it now. Okay, I'm in. Exactly.
- 27:47Speaker 1: It's all it takes. Buy you lunch, and we're good
- 27:49Speaker 1: to go. Anyway, for some reason, I can't get my
- 27:52Speaker 1: text groove to work.
- 27:54Speaker 4: Oh, Lordy.
- 27:55Speaker 1: I know. It's just given me an uncaught exception was encountered.
- 27:59Speaker 1: So can you bring up the text? Let me see
- 28:01Speaker 1: if I can get it pulled up. All right, then.
- 28:03Speaker 1: Go ahead.
- 28:03Speaker 2: Oh, my gosh. An uncaught exception was encountered. So you
- 28:08Speaker 2: got the same thing.
- 28:09Speaker 1: Wow. Okay, it's not just me. Okay, good. That makes
- 28:13Speaker 1: me feel a lot better. I'm glad it's not just me.
- 28:16Speaker 1: I mean, I've been dealing with this all morning.
- 28:19Speaker 2: I don't know what's going on. Well, that's concerning. Hopefully
- 28:21Speaker 2: they get that figured out quickly. Yeah, best of luck
- 28:23Speaker 2: with that.
- 28:24Speaker 1: Now, normally, Dexter's pretty good about fixing their issues. Is
- 28:28Speaker 1: it really? They normally fix them in a time. Oh,
- 28:30Speaker 1: they do? Okay. All right. Well, hopefully they do, but
- 28:32Speaker 1: it's just coming up, and sorry, texters. Can't read them now. No,
- 28:36Speaker 1: can't read them right now, but please keep texting in.
- 28:38Speaker 1: We'll get it fixed in a minute, and we'll be...
- 28:40Speaker 1: All of us, you know, when I was bragging about
- 28:43Speaker 1: this station not having any kind of issues, it seems like...
- 28:47Speaker 1: Jinxed it. Huh? You jinxed it. I did. I think
- 28:50Speaker 1: it's the jinx of just the cats, just to let
- 28:52Speaker 1: you know, and I screwed it up for everybody, so...
- 28:54Speaker 1: 5 0 2 4 1 4 14 50. Let's switch
- 28:58Speaker 1: gears for a minute. I found this interesting yesterday. Did
- 29:02Speaker 1: you see where ESPN writer Dan Wetzel predicted that Ohio
- 29:07Speaker 1: state and Michigan will go independent in the 2014 playoff era?
- 29:15Speaker 1: No way. That's exactly what I said. Why would they?
- 29:20Speaker 1: He says, claiming that the schools like Notre Dame are,
- 29:25Speaker 1: are the big winners because the Irish are independent of
- 29:29Speaker 1: the conferences. They are almost 100% guaranteed to make the playoffs.
- 29:34Speaker 1: So that is why Ohio State, Michigan, amongst others, other
- 29:40Speaker 1: really big schools, will just leave their conferences, go independent,
- 29:44Speaker 1: because then they'll be guaranteed to get into the playoffs.
- 29:47Speaker 1: Do you believe that? No, not at all.
- 29:49Speaker 2: Because especially with Ohio State and Michigan, I mean, we
- 29:52Speaker 2: go up to 24 teams. They're going to be shoe-ins
- 29:56Speaker 2: more years than not. Just because of who they are
- 30:00Speaker 2: and the history they have. Well, I look at, well, see,
- 30:03Speaker 2: I'm with you right there. I mean, they can be
- 30:05Speaker 2: 9-3 and they'll probably still get in. Oh, so in
- 30:10Speaker 2: the 24-team era. Yeah, I would agree with that. Now
- 30:13Speaker 2: you start getting into four, that's going to be an issue.
- 30:16Speaker 2: But no, I think three lost teams will get in. Now,
- 30:20Speaker 2: what will it take for Notre Dame to not be
- 30:24Speaker 2: in the playoffs would be my question back at you
- 30:27Speaker 2: because I think Notre Dame will now get in every
- 30:32Speaker 2: single year.
- 30:33Speaker 1: Oh, they will. And I think that's an absolute tragedy
- 30:36Speaker 1: to me. This is where, uh, the teams like Southern
- 30:40Speaker 1: Cal teams, like whomever they try to schedule with Notre Dame,
- 30:44Speaker 1: that is, they should say, no, thank you. They need
- 30:48Speaker 1: to boycott Notre Dame until Notre Dame joins a conference.
- 30:53Speaker 2: I do think you were, you were, you said something
- 30:56Speaker 2: good yesterday about strength of schedule. I don't, I don't
- 31:00Speaker 2: need that to be the end all be all for
- 31:03Speaker 2: a college football playoff invitation, but that's definitely one of
- 31:06Speaker 2: those things that should be considered. I mean, we do
- 31:08Speaker 2: that with college basketball, right? The March Madness tournament. We
- 31:12Speaker 2: look at all these different stats and analytics about each
- 31:16Speaker 2: of these teams. So I do feel like that needs
- 31:18Speaker 2: to be, and I'm sure that maybe is part of
- 31:21Speaker 2: it now, but it's not high enough on the priority
- 31:24Speaker 2: list for my liking.
- 31:24Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, I just feel like we need to force
- 31:29Speaker 1: Notre Dame to play in a conference. Enough of the independent.
- 31:33Speaker 1: You can say that all you want because you've been
- 31:35Speaker 1: saying it for years. You can try to force them
- 31:38Speaker 1: all you want. It's just not going to happen. Well,
- 31:40Speaker 1: then you've got to make them have a stronger schedule
- 31:43Speaker 1: then because the schedule they continue to put out is ridiculous.
- 31:49Speaker 1: You realize they have lost two of the last three
- 31:54Speaker 1: games when they played, including last year, when they played
- 31:59Speaker 1: ranked teams. I mean, yeah. So that's bad.
- 32:05Speaker 2: That's because they're not prepared. That's because they play Rice
- 32:08Speaker 2: and Wisconsin and Boston College and Stanford leading up to
- 32:12Speaker 2: those games. So they're just not ready.
- 32:14Speaker 1: Then they play Navy. Then they play Army. They play
- 32:17Speaker 1: those teams. It doesn't matter. I mean, you are never
- 32:21Speaker 1: going to convince me Notre Dame is deserving to be
- 32:24Speaker 1: in it. If they get in it, then they should
- 32:27Speaker 1: be the 24th team that comes in and they have
- 32:29Speaker 1: to go play away.
- 32:32Speaker 2: I mean, I'm just hoping they lose to Miami this
- 32:34Speaker 2: year and then maybe there's an outside chance.
- 32:36Speaker 1: They don't make it this. See if they, if they,
- 32:38Speaker 1: all right. So two loss Notre Dame. So they play,
- 32:41Speaker 1: I think that's the only two games they play ranked. Correct.
- 32:44Speaker 3: Correct.
- 32:45Speaker 1: All right. So it's, it's a Miami and BYU. And
- 32:49Speaker 1: I fully expect Freeman is really nervous right now. Cause
- 32:53Speaker 1: he was hoping he could at least if he got
- 32:55Speaker 1: one of the two wins and out of those teams,
- 32:59Speaker 1: then he should be able to make it. And I
- 33:01Speaker 1: predict that he would have. Now, if they go 0-2
- 33:05Speaker 1: playing ranked teams, is there a chance they make it still?
- 33:11Speaker 1: There is because they would be 10-2. And that's just
- 33:14Speaker 1: so wrong. I agree.
- 33:16Speaker 2: But especially in a 2014 playoff, at 10-2, even if
- 33:20Speaker 2: both losses are to the only two ranked teams they played,
- 33:23Speaker 2: they're still going to make it.
- 33:24Speaker 1: And that's wrong. I don't disagree with you. It is
- 33:27Speaker 1: so wrong that they get in just on an easy schedule. So, again,
- 33:33Speaker 1: that's where my thought process was last year. They have
- 33:36Speaker 1: to implement somehow strength of schedule into who they pick.
- 33:40Speaker 1: And then that will force. If Notre Dame is going
- 33:42Speaker 1: to continue not to join a conference, then guess what?
- 33:45Speaker 1: You've got to prove to me your strength of schedule.
- 33:48Speaker 2: All I know is I need a woman that is
- 33:50Speaker 2: as passionate about me as you are about Notre Dame.
- 33:52Speaker 1: Really? Yeah. Because it's unfair. And I see my team.
- 33:57Speaker 1: If my team were to get two losses, they might
- 33:59Speaker 1: make it. But no, Notre Dame just doesn't deserve this.
- 34:03Speaker 1: I am. I'm passionate about it. It's undeserving.
- 34:06Speaker 2: I will tell you right now, if it comes down
- 34:08Speaker 2: to that 12th spot and it's Notre Dame and it's
- 34:11Speaker 2: Kentucky and you're both 10-2, Kentucky's getting that nod.
- 34:15Speaker 1: You got to believe it. But you know what? I
- 34:18Speaker 1: don't know if they would or not. Yeah, because the
- 34:20Speaker 1: teams they played are no good. Yeah, and you know,
- 34:24Speaker 1: Will Stein made that comment, what was it, last week?
- 34:27Speaker 1: It's just like, okay, when we beat these teams, all
- 34:30Speaker 1: of a sudden there are no good teams. It's like,
- 34:31Speaker 1: that's kind of funny. I love the way he does that.
- 34:34Speaker 1: So anyway, I kind of woke up the Twitter, or
- 34:37Speaker 1: the text line, so just to let you know. How
- 34:38Speaker 1: do you know? You can see it? I can see
- 34:40Speaker 1: it now, so we're back up. Told you they're quick.
- 34:42Speaker 1: All right, we'll take a break now. When we come back,
- 34:45Speaker 1: we'll get to the text line, 502-414-1450. Keep them coming in.
- 34:50Speaker 1: I want to hear what you have to say about this,
- 34:52Speaker 1: because I'm so done with it. Anyway, and do we
- 34:56Speaker 1: like that UK football is favored this weekend? We'll talk
- 35:01Speaker 1: about that as well. Makes me a little nervous, and
- 35:03Speaker 1: then every win from here on out, our good friend...
- 35:08Speaker 1: Will Stein makes more money. I mean, it's just amazing
- 35:11Speaker 1: what he's– and then, you know, we got this guy
- 35:13Speaker 1: that just showed up a couple minutes ago. We'll bring
- 35:15Speaker 1: him in too. So, stay right there. More of Just
- 35:18Speaker 1: the Cats coming right up.
- 35:53Speaker 4: It's how we know Goodbye Virginia.
- 36:33Speaker 1: This is my new favorite band right here. I just
- 36:35Speaker 1: want you to know. Never heard of them. So that's
- 36:38Speaker 1: a brand new band out of St. Louis, Missouri called
- 36:42Speaker 1: The Band Feel. Weird name, but that's the song Goodbye Virginia.
- 36:47Speaker 1: I heard them on satellite radio, and I'm like, holy cow. Wait,
- 36:52Speaker 1: how does the band feel? I don't know how the band... Evidently,
- 36:56Speaker 1: they're not real happy because they're saying goodbye, Virginia. So
- 36:59Speaker 1: I don't know. How do you think the band feels?
- 37:01Speaker 1: That's a great question. I don't know. Listen, I like good, independent,
- 37:06Speaker 1: small bands. And this is a band that's out there
- 37:09Speaker 1: trying to promote themselves, just kind of like J.D. Shelburne.
- 37:12Speaker 1: He's doing it all by himself, which just I respect
- 37:15Speaker 1: a lot more than the bands that, you know, they're all...
- 37:19Speaker 1: and they're made up by a bunch of people, and
- 37:21Speaker 1: they get them together. These guys from St. Louis, Missouri,
- 37:24Speaker 1: the band feel, I think are really good. All right.
- 37:28Speaker 1: We're going with independent bands from here on out. See,
- 37:30Speaker 1: and I like that. I want to support independent bands.
- 37:35Speaker 1: And because how you think that any radio station here
- 37:39Speaker 1: in Louisville, Kentucky is going to be playing them on
- 37:40Speaker 1: the radio today. Exactly. And why is that? Is that
- 37:44Speaker 1: not good? All right. You be honest right there. Did
- 37:47Speaker 1: you think that was a good song? It was OK.
- 37:50Speaker 2: I mean, I probably need to hear the whole thing
- 37:52Speaker 2: and actually listen to the lyrics better than I did.
- 37:55Speaker 1: Yeah. And maybe I'd feel otherwise. I like it. I like, well, see,
- 37:58Speaker 1: I like good independent rock. And that to me is
- 38:01Speaker 1: what that is right there. So, all right, Quinn is
- 38:04Speaker 1: with us this morning because, you know, it's Tuesday. So, Quinn,
- 38:07Speaker 1: I will ask you as a representative of the kids today.
- 38:11Speaker 1: Of the Utes? Of the Utes, yeah. Would you say Utes? Utes? Utes.
- 38:19Speaker 1: That's a great line. Poor Quinn doesn't get what we're
- 38:22Speaker 1: talking about. What was the name of that movie? Great question.
- 38:26Speaker 1: My cousin Vinny. Yeah, that's me. Yeah, yeah. Great. Go
- 38:29Speaker 1: watch my cousin Vinny, Quinn. All right. Quinn, good morning.
- 38:33Speaker 1: Good morning. You okay? Yeah, I'm doing great. I missed
- 38:35Speaker 1: your Bennett. I love this. What did you think of
- 38:38Speaker 1: the band feel? Just the little 30 seconds you got
- 38:41Speaker 1: to hear them. I was a fan.
- 38:43Speaker 3: I was liking the goodbye Virginia. I went to Virginia
- 38:47Speaker 3: a couple weeks ago. It was really nice.
- 38:53Speaker 1: Really nice place. Well done, Quinn.
- 38:56Speaker 4: Yes.
- 38:56Speaker 1: Okay. Okay. Now, honestly, do you like that kind of
- 39:00Speaker 1: music right there? Oh, you do? Okay.
- 39:02Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 39:03Speaker 1: Because your genre is what? All of them. Are they really? Okay, good.
- 39:07Speaker 1: And you like country too?
- 39:09Speaker 2: Mm-hmm.
- 39:09Speaker 1: Do you? Okay. So the song that is on your
- 39:12Speaker 1: phone right now when you put the headphones in, what
- 39:14Speaker 1: is the song you were last listening to? That'll tell
- 39:17Speaker 1: me a lot about you. Where's your phones? Good lord,
- 39:22Speaker 1: just pull your phone out instead of sit there and
- 39:24Speaker 1: thinking for 20 minutes. Oh my gosh.
- 39:27Speaker 2: Hey, by the way, Michael, did I tell you about
- 39:29Speaker 2: the little girl from the festival this weekend no i
- 39:31Speaker 2: gotta tell you that story while quinn looks this up
- 39:34Speaker 2: okay so there's this little girl who she comes up
- 39:37Speaker 2: to our table during this festival and she's like hi
- 39:40Speaker 2: she's probably six seven years old right she's like hi
- 39:42Speaker 2: do you do you guys remember me from halloween And
- 39:47Speaker 2: I wasn't at the Halloween festivities last year, so I
- 39:50Speaker 2: was like, no, I wasn't there. I don't remember you.
- 39:52Speaker 1: I'm sorry. Well, then the lady I was working with,
- 39:55Speaker 1: she goes, yes, I remember you. You were Ozzy Osbourne.
- 39:59Speaker 1: And I was like, wait. You've got to be kidding me.
- 40:02Speaker 1: I was like, you were Ozzy Osbourne? That's awesome.
- 40:04Speaker 2: I was like, I've got to see a picture. So
- 40:05Speaker 2: she goes up to her mom, and she's like, mom,
- 40:07Speaker 2: do we have a picture? So her mom pulls out
- 40:09Speaker 2: this picture of this little girl dressed as Ozzy. incredible
- 40:12Speaker 2: it was it was that is awesome i love that
- 40:15Speaker 2: this was right after he passed too well that's not
- 40:18Speaker 2: where the story ends okay so that was friday night
- 40:21Speaker 2: right saturday night we've got the louisville crashers playing okay
- 40:24Speaker 2: and this little girl's standing in front of the stage
- 40:26Speaker 2: and he gets ready to sing crazy train oh cool
- 40:30Speaker 2: and i don't know how it all played out but
- 40:32Speaker 2: next thing i know he is lifting her on stage
- 40:36Speaker 2: And every other sentence, he is putting the mic on
- 40:40Speaker 2: her mouth.
- 40:41Speaker 1: Oh, I love this. And she's singing it word for word.
- 40:45Speaker 1: Are you serious?
- 40:46Speaker 2: It was freaking awesome. And then finally at the end,
- 40:49Speaker 2: he bends down when the song's over. And he's like,
- 40:51Speaker 2: how old are you? She's like, I'm seven. And he
- 40:53Speaker 2: stands back up. And he was like, seven years old.
- 40:56Speaker 2: Knows every word to Ozzy Osbourne's crazy train. Did somebody
- 40:59Speaker 2: give her a live chicken? Uh, no, no, no live chicken,
- 41:04Speaker 2: but we did. She got all kinds of high fives
- 41:06Speaker 2: when she came off stage and all. It was, it
- 41:08Speaker 2: was absolutely adorable.
- 41:10Speaker 1: Awesome. Hopefully she was invited up on stage again. She
- 41:13Speaker 1: was smiling the whole time she was up there. She
- 41:15Speaker 1: was just loving it. Just by the way, just, just
- 41:18Speaker 1: a little advice. When a little kid comes up to
- 41:20Speaker 1: you and asks you that question, lie, okay? Just make
- 41:23Speaker 1: them feel good. Go ahead and say, oh, yes, you
- 41:26Speaker 1: were awesome. My partner made her feel good because she
- 41:29Speaker 1: remembered her. If she was just asking you, I would
- 41:32Speaker 1: just say, oh, yes, I remember. You were fantastic.
- 41:34Speaker 2: Well, I think the memory turned out cooler because then
- 41:36Speaker 2: I got to see the picture and react in real time.
- 41:38Speaker 1: Okay, there you go. All right, Quinn, what is it?
- 41:40Speaker 1: It was Changes by Tupac. Oh, hell yeah. Wow, there
- 41:45Speaker 1: we go.
- 41:46Speaker 4: Quinn.
- 41:47Speaker 1: Yeah. Wow. You caught me off guard with that. So
- 41:53Speaker 1: you're listening to a little Tupac. That's one of my
- 41:55Speaker 1: favorite songs. Is it really? Love that song. Okay. All right. Wow.
- 41:59Speaker 1: All right, then, Quinn. I respect you now. So there
- 42:03Speaker 1: we go. Let's get to the text messages. 502-414-1450. Michael,
- 42:07Speaker 1: I've learned over a period of time. This is coming
- 42:10Speaker 1: from 48 Handley. That we have little in common. Oh,
- 42:14Speaker 1: my gosh. Oh, my gosh. However, today's subject of the
- 42:20Speaker 1: WNBA disrespecting the flag gives me the opportunity to share
- 42:23Speaker 1: that I, too, was named after my dad's brother who
- 42:27Speaker 1: paid the supreme sacrifice in the Ardennes Forest during the
- 42:31Speaker 1: final push to Berlin. That flag represents the freedom to
- 42:35Speaker 1: pursue any dream you dream. If some of those woke
- 42:40Speaker 1: clowns were born in Somalia, for example, they might be
- 42:44Speaker 1: chasing field mice and snakes just to eat instead of
- 42:48Speaker 1: having the good jobs they enjoy in this land of opportunity.
- 42:53Speaker 1: There you go. Oh, what a great start to that text. Yeah,
- 42:57Speaker 1: I know. I've learned over a period of time that
- 43:00Speaker 1: we have little in common. Y'all have got the horse
- 43:02Speaker 1: thing in common. I thought 48 Hanley and I had
- 43:05Speaker 1: a lot in common. Wow, man. You and I have
- 43:08Speaker 1: little in common. That does make me laugh. That put
- 43:12Speaker 1: a smile on my face. One person said, I don't
- 43:16Speaker 1: believe Louisville spent the most. Report said Trimble got three
- 43:20Speaker 1: plus mil, and in court it came out it's actually one. Oh, really?
- 43:27Speaker 1: After getting proof his reported number was three times higher,
- 43:31Speaker 1: I don't buy it. What do you think, Quinn? You're
- 43:35Speaker 1: shaking your head yes over here.
- 43:37Speaker 3: Honestly, to me, as a fan, I don't care if
- 43:42Speaker 3: Pat Kelsey spent a billion dollars because it's not coming
- 43:45Speaker 3: out of my pocket.
- 43:46Speaker 1: So I don't care what they had to spend.
- 43:50Speaker 3: As long as you just get good talent, which it
- 43:52Speaker 3: seems like they have. Now, we'll see tomorrow when, you know,
- 43:55Speaker 3: they got to play Tyron Stokes and Talon Kinney, Melvin Council,
- 43:59Speaker 3: all those guys. We're going to really see if that
- 44:01Speaker 3: money was well spent. But I do think that they
- 44:03Speaker 3: probably did pay a little cheaper than what everybody's saying.
- 44:06Speaker 1: I'm curious. Are you irritated like the rest of the
- 44:09Speaker 1: country is about this whole six-year player at Kansas and
- 44:14Speaker 1: Bill Self getting away with this? I'm irritated with the
- 44:17Speaker 1: whole thing, honestly. I think.
- 44:20Speaker 3: Especially for the 5-for-5, just grandfather them in. If you're
- 44:22Speaker 3: going to make the rule while they're in college, which
- 44:24Speaker 3: they made the rule before the end of May last year.
- 44:27Speaker 1: Right.
- 44:27Speaker 3: So then, you know, your spring sports like baseball was
- 44:30Speaker 3: still going on. It's not like they came up with
- 44:32Speaker 3: it in late July when everybody was already graduated. I
- 44:35Speaker 3: feel like you have to grandfather those guys in. But,
- 44:37Speaker 3: I mean, we see it every day. There's people that
- 44:39Speaker 3: are doing that stuff like Trinidad Chambliss.
- 44:42Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 44:42Speaker 4: All right.
- 44:42Speaker 1: We're going to talk more about that when we come back.
- 44:44Speaker 1: We've got to take a break. Here's a little more
- 44:46Speaker 1: of the band feel. I love this song. Stay right there.
- 44:49Speaker 1: Hour two of Just the Cats coming right up.
- 44:53Speaker 4: We'll be right back.
- 45:14Speaker 1: Welcome to Just the Cats with Michael Bennett. The bang
- 45:22Speaker 1: on the stinking wall. I can hear the music. Then
- 45:25Speaker 1: get prepared and do radio here, pal. I am prepared.
- 45:29Speaker 1: I was ready. What are you talking about? You didn't
- 45:31Speaker 1: have the mic on. So what am I supposed to do?
- 45:32Speaker 1: I had the mic on. Buddy, you did not because
- 45:35Speaker 1: I was talking and you turned it up while in
- 45:37Speaker 1: the middle of Actually, I did have it off because
- 45:39Speaker 1: Quinn was talking. Oh, is that what it is? Okay.
- 45:41Speaker 1: All right, then. Seems like y'all were in a spirited conversation. Well,
- 45:45Speaker 1: I just want to know. Well, I like to learn
- 45:47Speaker 1: from him because he said he had, when he walked in,
- 45:50Speaker 1: we went on our first break, he said he had
- 45:52Speaker 1: a lot going on. Tell everybody what you have going
- 45:55Speaker 1: on this afternoon and what you have going on tomorrow.
- 45:58Speaker 3: Got to do some homework when I get home tonight.
- 46:01Speaker 3: Got to do some studying for some chemistry tomorrow. And
- 46:04Speaker 3: then tomorrow I have to study before the Louisville game
- 46:08Speaker 3: comes on because I know I will be a little
- 46:09Speaker 3: too distracted to study after the fact.
- 46:11Speaker 1: Because he's got an algebra. You've got a chemistry test
- 46:14Speaker 1: coming up. You've got an algebra test. I do. Yeah,
- 46:17Speaker 1: so there you go. Do tests stress you out, Quinn? Yes.
- 46:21Speaker 1: Do they really? Definitely. Yeah. A lot of things stress
- 46:24Speaker 1: me out. What's the most stress to you? Probably watching
- 46:28Speaker 1: Louisville's defense. That might be at the top. Yeah. I'm
- 46:32Speaker 1: the same way. I mean, I have to turn the
- 46:35Speaker 1: TV off. That's a perfect answer. That was a perfect answer.
- 46:39Speaker 1: Because your GPA is what? Accumulative 4.0. Yeah, see, there
- 46:44Speaker 1: you go. And he's stressed out over here. Yeah, to
- 46:49Speaker 1: have that kind of stress, I would just love to
- 46:52Speaker 1: have because Michael Bennett, my my cumulative was probably two
- 46:55Speaker 1: point nine, three point two. No, no, no, no. I'm sorry.
- 46:59Speaker 1: One point nine, two point oh, I was not a
- 47:02Speaker 1: good student. OK, now I did go to a hard school,
- 47:05Speaker 1: but I was not a good student. So anyway, I
- 47:08Speaker 1: do want to talk about this because, you know, I
- 47:10Speaker 1: right before we went to break. uh you're like what
- 47:13Speaker 1: what what i said quinn i want your i want
- 47:15Speaker 1: your fresh honest answer so this is what uh justin
- 47:18Speaker 1: and i do every day and i i want to
- 47:22Speaker 1: know this i'll start with you justin okay as far
- 47:25Speaker 1: as because you know the country kind of got together
- 47:29Speaker 1: when they saw michigan squeak by who was the team
- 47:33Speaker 1: central western michigan which they should not have been allowed
- 47:37Speaker 1: to win that game and the And from there on,
- 47:40Speaker 1: the entire country rooted against Michigan. And I think everything
- 47:44Speaker 1: came to fruition as far as what should have happened
- 47:47Speaker 1: to Michigan this year in football. Now, with what is
- 47:50Speaker 1: going on at Kansas, with Trey Kaufman-Wren being allowed to
- 47:55Speaker 1: come back for a sixth season, do you think the
- 47:58Speaker 1: entire country outside of Jayhawk Nation is going to get
- 48:02Speaker 1: together and root against Kansas because of them unfairly having
- 48:08Speaker 1: a player come back for a sixth season to play
- 48:11Speaker 1: for them? I don't think so. Oh, really?
- 48:14Speaker 2: Because, well, Michigan, whether it was their own fault or not,
- 48:18Speaker 2: they blatantly cheated to win that game. So I think
- 48:21Speaker 2: the situation's different. I don't know if they blatantly cheated.
- 48:25Speaker 2: They got away with a call.
- 48:26Speaker 1: Is that cheating? No, they cheated. They didn't cheat, but
- 48:29Speaker 1: the conference cheated for them. Whatever you want to say. Yes, yes.
- 48:32Speaker 2: But Trey Kaufman ran, and I'm sure there's people with
- 48:36Speaker 2: different opinions of him. He's a very likable kid. There's
- 48:41Speaker 2: nothing about that kid that if you knew him, if
- 48:45Speaker 2: you talked to him for any amount of time, listened
- 48:47Speaker 2: to interviews, whatever, you can't dislike Trey Kaufman. He's a
- 48:50Speaker 2: good kid. He had a red shirt year where he
- 48:54Speaker 2: didn't get to play. And then he had another year
- 48:56Speaker 2: where he got injured. So I get it. He's a
- 48:58Speaker 2: six-year guy. Probably shouldn't fit into this fifth-year rule. But
- 49:02Speaker 2: for whatever reason, they got it cleared. Me personally... I
- 49:07Speaker 2: am not at a spot where I'm going to be
- 49:09Speaker 2: cheering against Kansas just because they got TKR. If I'm
- 49:13Speaker 2: cheering against Kansas, it's because of everybody else on the team.
- 49:17Speaker 2: Talon Kenny and Tyron Stokes and just the- guys that
- 49:20Speaker 2: I don't really much care for. But I like TKR.
- 49:23Speaker 2: Despite him playing at Purdue, I've always liked him.
- 49:25Speaker 1: Where do you stand, Quinn? Well, I'm definitely going to
- 49:28Speaker 1: be rooting against him tomorrow. Well, of course you are. Yeah,
- 49:32Speaker 1: I get that.
- 49:33Speaker 3: But I'm kind of with Scoots on this one. There's
- 49:37Speaker 3: so much going on. There's so many people getting injunctions
- 49:41Speaker 3: and bending the rules somehow, going to court, stuff like that.
- 49:45Speaker 3: I think he kind of flies under the radar a
- 49:47Speaker 3: little bit in terms of all the other crazy things
- 49:51Speaker 3: that are going around college sports right now. So I
- 49:53Speaker 3: think with the red shirt and the injury, I think
- 49:57Speaker 3: he's fine.
- 49:58Speaker 1: You do? Because I look back and I think Mark
- 50:00Speaker 1: Mitchell should be at UK. He wanted to play at UK.
- 50:03Speaker 1: Now he's back at Missouri. Now he's just going to
- 50:04Speaker 1: waste a year playing for a team that's just going
- 50:06Speaker 1: to be mediocre at best and I think that's unfair
- 50:09Speaker 1: that why do they let this one player go to
- 50:12Speaker 1: Kansas and can't let a certain player go to Kentucky
- 50:14Speaker 1: because he was he got his ruling in a different
- 50:16Speaker 1: state yeah you're right and I it's all about the
- 50:19Speaker 1: state and that really is it should not be the
- 50:23Speaker 1: case it needs to be okay if if one state's
- 50:26Speaker 1: going to rule this way then guess what we should
- 50:28Speaker 1: just say okay everybody's good.
- 50:30Speaker 3: To go I feel like Mark Mitchell got his or
- 50:33Speaker 3: didn't get his because of the SEC The SEC.
- 50:36Speaker 1: Didn't want him transferring in conference. You're right.
- 50:38Speaker 3: And honestly, I would have preferred if Mark Mitchell stayed,
- 50:42Speaker 3: even though LJ Wells and such from what got like the, okay.
- 50:45Speaker 3: And the court, I think their odds would have jumped significantly. If, uh,
- 50:50Speaker 3: Kentucky had a dog in the fight with Mark Mitchell
- 50:52Speaker 3: being in there.
- 50:53Speaker 1: Uh, One person texted in, listen to this. Are you ready? Mr. Bennett.
- 50:58Speaker 1: You can call me Michael. What are you doing texting in?
- 51:01Speaker 1: Is that what it is? Yeah.
- 51:02Speaker 4: Mr. Bennett.
- 51:04Speaker 1: I like the formality here because it always makes me,
- 51:07Speaker 1: I was like, oh boy, this is going to be negative. Okay.
- 51:10Speaker 1: Anybody that refers to me as Mr. Bennett, it's not
- 51:13Speaker 1: a good thing. I honestly do not think Mark Pope
- 51:17Speaker 1: has become a better coach during his tenure. The beard
- 51:20Speaker 1: is a joke and his new attitude is bad acting. Whoa. Okay,
- 51:27Speaker 1: so it wasn't towards me. Thank goodness. So, is he
- 51:31Speaker 1: Coach Pope or is he Mr. Pope to you? I
- 51:33Speaker 1: just want to know that. Yeah, I'm not going to
- 51:37Speaker 1: sit here and make fun of... the, the, the looks
- 51:40Speaker 1: that our coach is having right now, but I like
- 51:43Speaker 1: the beard. Do you really? No, I think it's a
- 51:45Speaker 1: good look for him. I'm just, I'm not a, some
- 51:48Speaker 1: guys look really good in beards. So I think I
- 51:51Speaker 1: would look ridiculous. And I think some guys don't look
- 51:54Speaker 1: good in beards. I just, I don't think he looks
- 51:56Speaker 1: good in the beard. I think he should grow it darker.
- 51:58Speaker 1: I mean, longer and longer. He's, I think he should
- 52:01Speaker 1: have a really, so he should go ZZ top is
- 52:03Speaker 1: what you're saying. No, not that long, but okay. Uh,
- 52:07Speaker 1: but I, I, I don't know if he– I'm right
- 52:11Speaker 1: there with him, though. I just don't know. I'm not
- 52:13Speaker 1: convinced he's become a better coach. I wish he put
- 52:18Speaker 1: more of a stance down on things and fought for
- 52:21Speaker 1: UK more than he does. I just think it's– he's
- 52:25Speaker 1: too kind. That's a nice trait to have, but in
- 52:28Speaker 1: coaching it's not a nice trait to have.
- 52:30Speaker 2: Well, that's why he's trying to change his persona like
- 52:33Speaker 2: we talked about a few weeks ago.
- 52:34Speaker 1: Okay. One person said– oh, this is from Nobody. Nobody. Really?
- 52:39Speaker 1: This guy's name is Nobody?
- 52:40Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 52:41Speaker 1: Always confuses me when I hear his text. Yeah. Okay.
- 52:43Speaker 1: Nobody says. Well, who said it? Nobody. This might be
- 52:46Speaker 1: the first time he's texted into the show. I think so.
- 52:49Speaker 1: So thank you. I heard UK sends people with two.
- 52:55Speaker 1: What is this? I heard UK sends the peace people.
- 53:00Speaker 1: What's the emoji right there? It's a peace sign. The two.
- 53:04Speaker 1: It says two. I heard UK sends two people with
- 53:07Speaker 1: Will Stein. When he goes to the bathroom so he
- 53:11Speaker 1: doesn't have to lift heavy objects by himself. Oh, my gosh, man. Okay.
- 53:17Speaker 1: Thank you. What? Oh, you get it, Quinn. Oh, come on.
- 53:23Speaker 1: Don't make us explain it. I heard UK sends two
- 53:26Speaker 1: people with Will's sign when he goes to the bathroom
- 53:28Speaker 1: so he doesn't have to lift heavy objects by himself. Oh,
- 53:32Speaker 1: my gosh, man. We need to get you to a
- 53:35Speaker 1: better school. Well done, nobody. Holy Cross isn't teaching them that.
- 53:40Speaker 1: Clearly they're not. Nor should they be. John here. It
- 53:44Speaker 1: was just one preseason game. I think he's fussing at me.
- 53:49Speaker 1: I'm surprised he didn't call me Mr. Bennett. The basketball
- 53:52Speaker 1: cats will be better than 23rd. Look, I believe Justin
- 53:57Speaker 1: said once before that he did not get it. Kentucky
- 54:00Speaker 1: was struggling to get players, but then turned it around.
- 54:05Speaker 1: They got Milan Momchilovic and others like McBride, Zoom, Wilkins.
- 54:10Speaker 1: How do you say his name? Njai. Njai. And, of course, Moreno.
- 54:15Speaker 1: Yet people are still down on the cats. I believe
- 54:17Speaker 1: we have three for sure NBA players this season. Hmm.
- 54:24Speaker 1: and still it will show on court. This team will
- 54:27Speaker 1: be good. We have haters in the media and voters,
- 54:31Speaker 1: and we also have haters in our own fan base.
- 54:34Speaker 1: Some people want basketball to go down just to get
- 54:38Speaker 1: rid of a coach. I never want this team to struggle,
- 54:40Speaker 1: and I do not think they will this season. If
- 54:43Speaker 1: you are a fair-weathered fan, then pack your bags. I've
- 54:47Speaker 1: had enough of this fan base. Michael, please don't take
- 54:50Speaker 1: this as me talking about you. I am just talking
- 54:53Speaker 1: about fans in general that talk crap, a lot of crap. Well,
- 54:58Speaker 1: I'm just being, listen, I'm being critical. And I think
- 55:01Speaker 1: every now and then it's fair to be critical. I'm
- 55:05Speaker 1: not saying I want Mark Pope to be fired. I'm
- 55:07Speaker 1: not saying I want Mark Pope to not succeed. I'm
- 55:11Speaker 1: saying I want Mark Pope to win. I want UK
- 55:14Speaker 1: to win. Okay. That's number one and foremost right there. So,
- 55:18Speaker 1: and I think it's okay to be critical. But, yeah,
- 55:21Speaker 1: there are fair-weathered fans out there, but it's frustrating. It's
- 55:24Speaker 1: frustrating when you see this team go the opposite way
- 55:27Speaker 1: than they should be. And I know it's way, way,
- 55:29Speaker 1: way early. I get it, Justin, but that's just not
- 55:33Speaker 1: a good look. Go ahead.
- 55:34Speaker 2: Well, and that's just my problem with all this. I
- 55:37Speaker 2: don't feel like it's fair at this juncture.
- 55:39Speaker 1: There it is. To be critical with this team in
- 55:42Speaker 1: the preseason. Every time you say that and I say,
- 55:45Speaker 1: my good friend, we have to take a swig of something, okay?
- 55:48Speaker 1: I'm going to be hammered. This juncture.
- 55:50Speaker 2: Yeah, but I just don't feel like it's fair to
- 55:52Speaker 2: be critical right now. I mean, wait until the season starts.
- 55:55Speaker 2: Then if you want to be critical, I'm fine with that.
- 55:59Speaker 2: But right now, no. That's the good thing about being
- 56:02Speaker 2: a fan. You can go into every season with hope
- 56:04Speaker 2: and a plan that this is all going to work
- 56:06Speaker 2: out and it's going to be all sunshines and rainbows.
- 56:10Speaker 2: But you don't want to get to a point where
- 56:12Speaker 2: prior to the season, you're already on the negative side
- 56:15Speaker 2: of things. That's not a way to fan.
- 56:17Speaker 1: Well, it's not. But on the other hand, can't we
- 56:20Speaker 1: be critical? When the season starts. Are you saying you're
- 56:25Speaker 1: not allowed? Well, I mean, so the season has not
- 56:28Speaker 1: started because they've only played an exhibition game. So that's
- 56:30Speaker 1: not a part of the season. Yeah, I just don't
- 56:33Speaker 1: think it's fair to be critical right now. Okay. All right, then.
- 56:35Speaker 1: 48 and Hanley said, Utes, did you say Utes? That
- 56:39Speaker 1: hilarious line was uttered by the late Fred Gwynn, who
- 56:42Speaker 1: was better known as the dad in the Munsters and
- 56:45Speaker 1: earlier in Car 54. Where are you? Yes, I remember that.
- 56:52Speaker 1: I remember that guy, Fred Gwynn, who was in the
- 56:56Speaker 1: Munsters when I was a kid. Yeah, I mean, that
- 57:00Speaker 1: was a great line. If you haven't seen, you got
- 57:02Speaker 1: to go home. It's a clean movie. You can watch
- 57:04Speaker 1: it with your mom and dad. My cousin Vinny, okay?
- 57:07Speaker 1: And you've seen that movie then, Justin, correct? I've seen it.
- 57:10Speaker 1: One of the very few. Yeah, what was her name
- 57:13Speaker 1: that was the girl that was in the movie? Marissa Tomei,
- 57:21Speaker 1: isn't it? Oh, her actress name. Yes, yes, her real name.
- 57:26Speaker 1: You're a big fan of her. Oh, I always thought
- 57:28Speaker 1: she was really pretty. She was great in that movie,
- 57:31Speaker 1: along with who was the main actor? Of course, she
- 57:33Speaker 1: won an Oscar for that, by the way. Joe Pesci?
- 57:37Speaker 1: Joe Pesci. She won an Oscar for that role in
- 57:40Speaker 1: the movie. We don't have Corey Price today because he's
- 57:43Speaker 1: still traveling back from Oklahoma. But, yeah, Tomei. Thank you, Dexter. Torme. Yeah,
- 57:51Speaker 1: I thought I said Marissa. You said it right. Marissa Tomei. Okay, good.
- 57:56Speaker 1: I was confused for a minute. Anyway, one person said...
- 58:02Speaker 1: High school kids follow the rankings for sure, especially when
- 58:05Speaker 1: they are planning visits. See? What do you think, Quinn?
- 58:09Speaker 2: Do you think recruits are looking at preseason top 25 rankings?
- 58:15Speaker 1: Personally, if I was a recruit, no.
- 58:17Speaker 3: Really?
- 58:18Speaker 1: Really. You wouldn't care if the team you're looking at,
- 58:23Speaker 1: one was going to be ranked in the top 10
- 58:25Speaker 1: and one was barely in the top 25. That would
- 58:28Speaker 1: mean nothing to you preseason. Yeah, I know preseason.
- 58:31Speaker 3: Me personally, because I, and I feel like I would
- 58:34Speaker 3: probably be a little bit more like watching these things
- 58:38Speaker 3: than the other kids that are being recruited.
- 58:40Speaker 1: The preseason rankings are a joke. They're an absolute joke.
- 58:44Speaker 3: Louisville was like preseason number 12 last year in basketball.
- 58:48Speaker 3: We were not the 12th best team in the country.
- 58:50Speaker 1: And you're 11 this year.
- 58:51Speaker 3: And we're 11 this year, and I don't know if
- 58:53Speaker 3: we're going to be 11th best in the country. So
- 58:54Speaker 3: the preseason rankings are literally just who has hype, who
- 58:59Speaker 3: has a big.
- 58:59Speaker 1: Brand that they can follow.
- 59:01Speaker 3: There's teams in football ranked every year that probably shouldn't
- 59:05Speaker 3: be ranked.
- 59:05Speaker 2: And do you think kids your age that are being
- 59:08Speaker 2: recruited to these D1 programs are going to be ranked?
- 59:10Speaker 2: all feel similarly?
- 59:11Speaker 3: No, I think that there's definitely kids that are going
- 59:15Speaker 3: to be biased towards the brand. Like, even though Kalen
- 59:19Speaker 3: DeBoer is, like, not at all Nick Saban, which, I mean,
- 59:22Speaker 3: who can be? I still think kids are going to
- 59:24Speaker 3: be drawn to Alabama just because it's Alabama, and that's
- 59:26Speaker 3: what they hear about. And I wouldn't be concerned if
- 59:29Speaker 3: I was Kentucky. It shouldn't be a problem to recruit
- 59:32Speaker 3: kids if you're preseason 23. You have eight national championships.
- 59:37Speaker 3: You have money flowing out your pockets. It shouldn't be
- 59:40Speaker 3: a problem. And I think a lot of the recruiting
- 59:42Speaker 3: issues is just like a personality thing.
- 59:45Speaker 1: So, all right, what do y'all think is first when
- 59:48Speaker 1: it comes to a recruit looking at a school? Do
- 59:52Speaker 1: you think, number one, it's money? Is it, number one,
- 59:55Speaker 1: the brand? Is it, number two, something else completely different?
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: Is it the coach? What do you think recruits do?
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: Because I think before the NIL era, the transfer reporter era,
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: I think it was, number one, the school. I think
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: more times than not now, kids today, recruits today don't
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: care about the school. They don't care about the brand.
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: It's how much you've given me. Am I wrong to
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: think that? Justin, what do you think?
- 1:00:25Speaker 2: I think it's some combination of money and playing time.
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: I agree with you.
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: I don't think it's, it's not so, I mean, maybe
- 1:00:35Speaker 2: it is a little bit still about the brand, but
- 1:00:37Speaker 2: I think it's all about playing.
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: Am I going to play? And what's my paycheck look like?
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: I like that.
- 1:00:45Speaker 3: I think, I think it's kind of a combination of
- 1:00:47Speaker 3: all three. I think for me personally, I would look
- 1:00:51Speaker 3: at the coach. Do their beliefs line up with your beliefs?
- 1:00:56Speaker 3: Are you trying to go win a national championship, or
- 1:00:58Speaker 3: are you trying to put together highlights for the NBA?
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: I think that's one thing.
- 1:01:03Speaker 3: I think a lot of people, especially these days, will
- 1:01:05Speaker 3: lead to the latter of the options, like how am
- 1:01:08Speaker 3: I going to be able to put stuff on film
- 1:01:10Speaker 3: to make more money? And I think there's going to
- 1:01:13Speaker 3: be other people, too, that are just like, what can
- 1:01:15Speaker 3: I bring to a winning team? If I can bring
- 1:01:18Speaker 3: something to a winning team that has a chance to
- 1:01:19Speaker 3: win the national championship, what can I do? Because I
- 1:01:22Speaker 3: don't think Michigan basketball had the highest payroll last year,
- 1:01:25Speaker 3: but I do think that those guys all were really
- 1:01:28Speaker 3: tight knit.
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: I think Dusty may did a great job. Like, Hey,
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: this is what we're going to do. Yeah.
- 1:01:32Speaker 3: They did lose their exhibition against Cincinnati last year in
- 1:01:36Speaker 3: the preseason, 198 and Louisville beat Cincinnati. So there's going
- 1:01:40Speaker 3: to be bumps in the road, but, I think when
- 1:01:43Speaker 3: you're trying to be a recruit, you have to look
- 1:01:45Speaker 3: at the culture that the coach is building and just
- 1:01:48Speaker 3: how good that coach is. And then from there, the
- 1:01:51Speaker 3: money will align if you are picking those things out.
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: You know, it's interesting you bring that up because now
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: we have a World Series that has one of the
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: cheapest payrolls, My Tampa Bay Rays. You look at all
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: 30 teams in the MLB, they're ranked 28th as far
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: as payrolls. They paid $ 98 million to get to the
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: World Series. And you realize, both of you, that the
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: Dodgers paid $ 552. 7 million on their payroll. And look where
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: they are. They're at home watching it, and the Rays
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: are in there. I love this, but the MLB, you
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: realize the MLB is really upset about the Rays making it,
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: don't you? Justin, you're aware of that, aren't you? Oh, yeah.
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: Because of the fact that changes the entire narrative. MLB
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: really wants to come out with a salary cap. Did
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: you know that Cleveland was the lowest in the league?
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: Isn't that crazy? So congratulations, Rays. You beat the team
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: with the lowest payroll. Well done. And barely beat them.
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: I mean, it was a close series. Listen, I was
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: so disappointed. You get the first game, and Tampa Bay
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: loses the first game in St. Petersburg. They go one
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: and one headed to Cleveland. Cleveland wins the next game.
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: And you're like, ooh, this is not looking good. And
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: then you get the rain out. Yeah, yeah, exactly, which
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: I think helped the Rays. And then all of a
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: sudden they win three games in a row and eliminate
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: the Indians or whatever their dumb name is now. Anyway,
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: I'll never call. They'll just be Cleveland the rest of
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: my life, okay? Another dumb thing that happens in this world.
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: But I'm so excited, and that's why I stayed up
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: a little too late last night. Had to watch my
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: Rays win. So I'm trying to figure a way. Can
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: I fly down there and go see a game or not?
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: I don't know. But I had some buddies at the
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: game last night. They were asking me if I was there.
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: That's fun. I was disappointed. Yeah, it's really cool. What
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: if you were there?
- 1:03:57Speaker 3: Oh, I would.
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: And you saw him close out the ALDS and the ALCS? Oh, yeah.
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: That would have been awesome. Yeah, you're right. I didn't
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: even think about that. But anyway, but maybe one of
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: these days. I've been to a World Series with them
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: in it and saw them win, but I didn't see
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: them win the World Series, just win a game in
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: the World Series. But that would be one of my
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: dreams come true if I could ever do something like that. So,
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: all right, we got to take another break. 502-384-1450, 502-414-1450.
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: If you want to text me on the Whiskey Thief
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: text line, stay right there. We got to talk about
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: this CBS sideline reporter when we come back, Tracy Wolfson.
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: What did she do the other day? And is it
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: appropriate or not? Let's talk about that as soon as
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: we get back. Stay right there.
- 1:04:55Speaker 4: I need you to slip inside to break my mind.
- 1:05:04Speaker 4: Break my heart in two.
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: I like this, too. This is something new. Yeah.
- 1:05:23Speaker 4: Wow.
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: Axe and the Hatchet.
- 1:05:24Speaker 4: I like the name.
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: Axe and the Hatchet.
- 1:05:27Speaker 2: Hatchet Mint.
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: Oh, Axe and the Hatchet Men. Okay, that's a good song.
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: You might have to tell me and share that one
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: with me in a little bit. It's called Funny Valentine.
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: It is? Okay. I do want to talk about Tracy Wilson.
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: I don't know if you saw it on Sunday. Everybody
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: was talking about it yesterday. How do we feel about
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: her on the sidelines talking and interviewing Bill's quarterback, Josh Allen?
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: And then when they're done, she slaps him on the behind. Wait, really? Oh,
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: you haven't seen it? No. Oh, yes. And quite honestly,
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: I have no problem with this. I think it's fun.
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: I actually like her. But, you know, if the roles
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: were reversed, how would she be responding? This is one
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: of those things. Again, I have no problem with what
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: she did. But if a man was to do this
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: to a woman... Do you think the response would be
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: the same or would be outrage? Jail time. Jail time. Oh,
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: my God. I think if they were an athlete, it'd
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: be looked at differently. Oh, really? Say I'm a sideline
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: reporter and I'm interviewing, let's just say. A volleyball player
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: at UK. Yeah. Well, that's maybe a little different. Why
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: is it? I was thinking more so at the professional level. Okay.
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: A soccer player here in town. Yeah. Yeah. There you go.
- 1:06:58Speaker 2: Let's just say Samantha DeMello. I'm interviewing her, and I
- 1:07:02Speaker 2: give her a tap on the rear. I do think
- 1:07:04Speaker 2: that's different because athletes are used to having their.
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: Butt patted, right? Yes. I did it all the time.
- 1:07:11Speaker 2: So I don't have an issue with this either, but
- 1:07:13Speaker 2: I do like to think of it as Tracy Wolfson
- 1:07:16Speaker 2: knew that this was her opportunity to cop.
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: A feel and was like, I got to take advantage.
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: Got to try and take advantage. Oh, my gosh. She
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: had her opportunity to cop a feel. If she's my wife,
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: I'm like, ooh, what are you doing down there? I mean,
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: is this something going on here? I mean, wow. Who knows?
- 1:07:37Speaker 2: Maybe it was a dare with her husband. Maybe her
- 1:07:39Speaker 2: husband was like, hey, I dare you to tap the
- 1:07:41Speaker 2: next interviewer on the butt.
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: Oh, my gosh, man.
- 1:07:45Speaker 2: Maybe she came in last in her fantasy football league,
- 1:07:47Speaker 2: and that was her punishment. That was her punishment right there.
- 1:07:50Speaker 2: I like that, too.
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, I can't believe you. Quinn, you're a
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: man of the youth. What do you think about this?
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: The word from the youth is... I know. I don't
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: like it.
- 1:08:04Speaker 3: I don't think it should be getting an outrageous response.
- 1:08:07Speaker 3: But like you said, of course if the roles are reversed,
- 1:08:11Speaker 3: that's a problem. It's a big problem.
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: It is a big problem. Probably fired. If the roles are, see,
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: I think so too. I think she would be dismissed
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: or he would be dismissed. And, uh, we would be expecting, uh,
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: an apology. The, the, the country would be have outrage.
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: It's like, well, wait a minute. Now I, as a
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: man have no problem with what she did. Here's what
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: I want to see. I want to see Josh's either
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: girlfriend or wife. Not sure what their wife. Yeah.
- 1:08:37Speaker 3: I want to see her just kind of throw it
- 1:08:38Speaker 3: down with that sideline reporter.
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: Do you know who he's married to? Uh, I don't do. I, I'm,
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: Haley Steinfeld. Who is she? She's an actress. Oh, she is.
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: I think Tracy would smoke her. Oh, really? Yeah. Haley Stein?
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: She's been in... Oh, I remember her. Yes, she was
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: in a movie. I actually really... liked. And, of course,
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: I can't think of the name of it, but it
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: was a really good music type movie. Pitch Perfect. No,
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: that's not it. Begin Again. Okay. Yeah. Begin Again was
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: a really good movie that I saw with her and
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: Mark Ruffalo. Who I really like. That's his wife. Wow, really?
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: She's cute. Yeah, that's one way to describe her. What
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: do you think? What's another way? No, I think cute's appropriate. No,
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: I'm curious. I'm not anywhere north of cute, I'll tell
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: you that. Oh, you don't think she's that pretty? Nah,
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: I'm not into her that much. Oh, are you not? Okay, wow.
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: And I'm curious what your type is. Not her. Really? Okay.
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: She needs to gain about 40 pounds. Oh, that's what
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: it is. Yeah, she's too skinny. Not a skinny guy.
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: You're not? Why is that? I don't know. I don't
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: like feeling bones. I don't know. See, to me, Christine
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: Williamson is probably your type. Christine Williams. She's the lady
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: on ESPN. Yeah, go look her up. That's who I
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: think you would.
- 1:10:13Speaker 3: Wow.
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: I mean, she is pretty. Uh-huh, yeah. Let's do fraud
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: or not fraud for UK, for college football right now.
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: Let's do it. All right? Because I think- I feel
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: like we need a fun song. Oh, that would be fun.
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: Fraud or no fraud. No, that's okay. But there should
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: be a fraud song out there. That would be great.
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: You know what? I like this. We should make this
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: a segment now. All right. So with the rankings coming
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: out this past Sunday, and we talked about them yesterday.
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: You weren't here. Neither of you were here. But we're
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: going to talk about it now. I want to know
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: from both of you who of these teams is a
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: fraud and not fraud. Okay? Okay. And it's not going
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: to be all just SEC teams. But it's teams within
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: the top 25. All right? I want to start with Georgia. Georgia.
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: Georgia was number one in the country, just lost to
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: Auburn over the weekend. They're now ranked fourth in the country.
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: How are we feeling about Georgia right now? Are they
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: a fraud or not fraud within the top ten?
- 1:11:23Speaker 2: They are not fraudulent. They just had a bad day
- 1:11:26Speaker 2: on Saturday that I can't explain that Auburn loss. It
- 1:11:29Speaker 2: doesn't make any sense to me, but maybe Auburn's better
- 1:11:32Speaker 2: than we give them credit for. I do not think Georgia.
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: See, I don't think so either. I think they're a
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: legitimate team. Go ahead, Justin. All right, Quinn. I'm sorry.
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: I'm kind of on board with Justin. I think losses
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: are going to happen.
- 1:11:43Speaker 3: That's just kind of what's going to go on those
- 1:11:45Speaker 3: little bumps that we talk about throughout the season. And
- 1:11:48Speaker 3: a lot of people don't remember, but Auburn actually took
- 1:11:50Speaker 3: Florida to a pretty intense shootout.
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: Yeah, they did.
- 1:11:53Speaker 3: Either in week two or three. So Auburn has some talent.
- 1:11:56Speaker 3: It just hasn't been all put together, but they put
- 1:11:58Speaker 3: it together on Saturday.
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: And Golish is doing a great job down there. I
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: think he is going to turn around the Auburn program.
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: You know, he came from USF. Did a phenomenal job
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: down there in Tampa with South Florida. And he was
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: a good hire for Auburn. And he's one of those
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: kind of coaches. He gets not just his team excited.
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: He gets that whole fan base excited. Alabama better watch
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: out for Auburn. I think that's going to be a
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: really fun game come the end of the season. It
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: always is. It's crazy. It is. Exactly. By the way, Michael,
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: well done.
- 1:12:31Speaker 2: You confused the lawn people today by introducing the show
- 1:12:34Speaker 2: as being Wednesday.
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: Oh, really? Now they're here. They're here. So they are
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: very obviously just the cat fans. Okay. All right, then. Well,
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: I appreciate it. If they are, just come over here
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: and knock on the window. Let's talk about Alabama. Alabama's
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: 3-2 within the SEC. They're 5-2 overall. I don't want
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: them to be a fraud because that's the only loss
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: Kentucky has. But honestly, if I'm looking at this, I
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: kind of look at DeBoer and think, I'm sorry, I
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: think your team's a bit of a fraud and should
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: not be ranked as high as they are. What do
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: you think, Quinn? Alabama's tough to get a read on.
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: I feel the same.
- 1:13:16Speaker 3: The reason I say that is there is spurts where
- 1:13:19Speaker 3: Keylon Russell looks really good. And then there's like sometimes,
- 1:13:23Speaker 3: and I know he's young, which is probably a factor
- 1:13:25Speaker 3: to this, but then there's just sometimes where he doesn't
- 1:13:27Speaker 3: make too great of decisions.
- 1:13:28Speaker 1: Right, exactly.
- 1:13:29Speaker 3: Or he throws, you know, a pick six or stuff happens.
- 1:13:32Speaker 3: And I honestly just think that Alabama's right where they are.
- 1:13:37Speaker 3: I think that's a solid ranking. And I also think
- 1:13:39Speaker 3: that Tennessee's defense... They fly to the ball, and that's
- 1:13:43Speaker 3: really tough to score on. I think Tennessee just really
- 1:13:45Speaker 3: earned that game as opposed to Alabama giving it away.
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: That's the one thing Tennessee has always had is speed,
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: and they do. They have players that just, you're right,
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: they can fly. All right, let's talk about BYU.
- 1:13:55Speaker 3: BYU.
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: Oh, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Go ahead.
- 1:13:58Speaker 2: Alabama's fraud. Keelan Russell. I like Keelan Russell. I think
- 1:14:02Speaker 2: he's going to be really good in time.
- 1:14:04Speaker 1: I think he's overrated. Truth of the matter is he's
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: two years older than Quinn. Are you kidding me? He's
- 1:14:09Speaker 1: a freshman. I didn't even think about that. He's two
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: years older than me. Jeremiah Smith is two years older
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: than me, too. No, he's four. He's a junior. Yeah,
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: that might be true, yeah. Okay, but you just blew
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: my mind away. Isn't that crazy? Yeah, that is crazy.
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: Two years older than Quinn, starting for Alabama. All right,
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: let's talk about BYU, ranked second in the country, undefeated. Yeah,
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: they had a pretty cute little win against Notre Dame, but...
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: who are they really played? I, I, I don't know.
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: I I'm to a point where I'm not sure they're
- 1:14:41Speaker 1: a fraud or not a fraud. I mean, I'm, I'm
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: kind of to a point where the jury's still out.
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: What do you think, Justin?
- 1:14:49Speaker 2: I am going to go not fraud here with BYU
- 1:14:52Speaker 2: just because I'm a big fan of, of a bear
- 1:14:56Speaker 2: Brock or bear Brock bear Bachmeier. He's an awesome quarterback
- 1:15:00Speaker 2: watching that game on Saturday. He was, He was a
- 1:15:02Speaker 2: lot of fun, and when you look at the rest
- 1:15:04Speaker 2: of their schedule, they've got a game at Utah. That's
- 1:15:07Speaker 2: really the only tough game they've got left.
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: Yeah, see, that bothers me.
- 1:15:10Speaker 2: I don't think they're a fraud. Now, could we get
- 1:15:13Speaker 2: to the playoffs and I maybe change my mind because
- 1:15:16Speaker 2: they get beat in the first round?
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: Yeah. I reserve that. And see, that's what's going to happen.
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: I'm going to tell you right now. Quinn, what do
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: you think? BYU a fraud or not fraud?
- 1:15:24Speaker 3: I think BYU is definitely a solid football team. You know,
- 1:15:26Speaker 3: they just toppled Notre Dame at home on Saturday. Do
- 1:15:31Speaker 3: I think they're the second best team in the country?
- 1:15:33Speaker 4: No.
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: I don't think they would.
- 1:15:34Speaker 3: Be able to run with the Ohio States, the Georgias.
- 1:15:38Speaker 3: I think they would just get out-physicaled, honestly, by those squads.
- 1:15:43Speaker 3: Everybody talks about how that BYU schedule is kind of
- 1:15:47Speaker 3: laying off a little bit. They have Utah coming up.
- 1:15:49Speaker 3: But this Saturday, they have to go to the bounce
- 1:15:51Speaker 3: house at UCF. And UCF, they have some guys down there.
- 1:15:55Speaker 3: One of my good buddies, Duke Watson, he's ready to go.
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: Really?
- 1:15:58Speaker 3: I've had a couple conversations with Duke, and he feels
- 1:16:02Speaker 3: very confident about his squad.
- 1:16:03Speaker 4: Okay.
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: All right, let's talk him. Wasn't he at Louisville? He
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: was at Louisville. Now he's at UCF. Why did he
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: transfer down there?
- 1:16:11Speaker 3: When I was talking to him, it was a lot
- 1:16:13Speaker 3: of just playing time. He was in a really stacked
- 1:16:16Speaker 3: up running back room. Isaac, he won.
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: I got you. That makes sense. All right, let's talk
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: about one that's near and dear to one particular person's heart. Justin,
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: I'll start with you. Is IU number six in the
- 1:16:30Speaker 1: country just lost on their own field to Ohio State?
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: Are they a fraud or not fraud?
- 1:16:36Speaker 2: They are absolutely not a fraud. I mean, honestly, this
- 1:16:44Speaker 2: isn't the Indiana fan in me saying this. This is
- 1:16:46Speaker 2: a from an outside perspective looking in. I don't think
- 1:16:50Speaker 2: they're fraudulent. I mean, they should have beat Ohio State
- 1:16:52Speaker 2: on Saturday. That passes two inches to the right. They
- 1:16:55Speaker 2: win that game. And then we're talking about Indiana as
- 1:16:59Speaker 2: being one of the top teams in the country.
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: So, no.
- 1:17:01Speaker 2: They will not lose again in the regular season. They
- 1:17:03Speaker 2: will be in the playoffs. I don't know at this
- 1:17:06Speaker 2: juncture if they win it.
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: There you go again. Times two.
- 1:17:09Speaker 2: I do think they will be in the playoffs. They'll
- 1:17:11Speaker 2: make a name for themselves. Cignetti will have these boys
- 1:17:13Speaker 2: ready to go. Not fraudulent. Not even close.
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: Make some sense of this. Come on. Bring it down, Quinn.
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: Just tell them like it is. You know, it's okay.
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: You don't have to be soft with Justin. Go ahead
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: and say it. So, I.
- 1:17:25Speaker 3: Justin brings up a great point. You know, that pass
- 1:17:27Speaker 3: is like a foot to the right. They beat Ohio
- 1:17:30Speaker 3: State and they're undefeated still. One thing that might have
- 1:17:34Speaker 3: me leaning towards Indiana being a fraud is quarterback play.
- 1:17:38Speaker 3: And Saturday, with both Julian Sane and Josh Hoover, that
- 1:17:43Speaker 3: was like a slugfest when those two went out there.
- 1:17:46Speaker 3: A lot of just not great decisions, and they had
- 1:17:49Speaker 3: open guys, and they would just overthrow it.
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: It was bad. It was honestly bad. You also have to.
- 1:17:54Speaker 2: Keep in mind, though, that it does take a little
- 1:17:57Speaker 2: bit for Kurt Cignetti to get his quarterbacks locked in.
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: We're more than halfway through the season. Let me finish, Michael.
- 1:18:05Speaker 2: It takes some time for him to get them integrated
- 1:18:07Speaker 2: into the season and get them into a leadership role,
- 1:18:10Speaker 2: which Josh Hoover I don't think is quite there yet.
- 1:18:13Speaker 2: Curtis Rourke, our quarterback the first year, took him a
- 1:18:16Speaker 2: little bit of time. I think Fernando Mendoza was just
- 1:18:18Speaker 2: the shining example of how quickly it can happen, but
- 1:18:21Speaker 2: he also came in with a ton of experience. Josh
- 1:18:24Speaker 2: Hoover did as well, but if you get 3% better,
- 1:18:27Speaker 2: on a game in and game out basis, Josh Hoover
- 1:18:30Speaker 2: is right where we need him to be.
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: That's why I don't think they're from. Well, here's where
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: I stand. Indiana jury's still out. They, they should have
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: won that game. They had opportunities to win that game.
- 1:18:39Speaker 1: They didn't do it. They should be still undefeated for
- 1:18:43Speaker 1: 23 games in a row, however many it is. But
- 1:18:46Speaker 1: jury's out. I'm not going to say they're a fraud,
- 1:18:49Speaker 1: but I'm not going to say they're not a fraud.
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: And Ural's mindset is exactly what Kurt Cignetti wants. Keep shouting.
- 1:18:56Speaker 1: And you know what? That's exactly what we want at
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: UK because that's what I want to bring up next.
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: UK's number 12 in the country. They have squeaked by
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: some teams and found a way to win. Quinn, I
- 1:19:10Speaker 1: want to ask you first. Do you think UK is
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: a fraud or not a fraud? UK is tough to judge.
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: And I say that. I agree with that. You know,
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: football is finding a way to win. It really is.
- 1:19:24Speaker 3: You're not going to have your best stuff every day.
- 1:19:25Speaker 3: You're not going to be able to blow out every
- 1:19:27Speaker 3: team in conference play. That's just not the reality. I
- 1:19:31Speaker 3: do think that the ball will roll fast. the wrong
- 1:19:34Speaker 3: way in one of these games you know if you
- 1:19:36Speaker 3: keep winning by one two points eventually you're not gonna
- 1:19:38Speaker 3: make that play yeah and it's gonna go to the
- 1:19:40Speaker 3: other side so I don't know if Kentucky's gonna be
- 1:19:43Speaker 3: able to sneak into this year's playoff they have a
- 1:19:45Speaker 3: couple tough games coming up they will have to go
- 1:19:48Speaker 3: to Neyland they have the Gators at home which the
- 1:19:51Speaker 3: Gators are either the number one team in the country
- 1:19:53Speaker 3: or 136 in the country depending on the week and
- 1:19:57Speaker 3: then Louisville's really talented but you never know what Louisville's
- 1:20:00Speaker 3: gonna show up like it could be big game Louisville
- 1:20:02Speaker 3: or it could be You're Saturday at noon against Boston College, Louisville.
- 1:20:07Speaker 1: You never know.
- 1:20:07Speaker 3: So I think Kentucky's kind of right where they're at.
- 1:20:10Speaker 3: I don't think they're a fraud, but I don't think
- 1:20:12Speaker 3: they are underrated either.
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: Yeah, well said. Justin, what do you think about UK?
- 1:20:17Speaker 1: You were cutting on my team, so I think UK's
- 1:20:18Speaker 1: probably going. Kentucky is terrible.
- 1:20:21Speaker 2: Probably the biggest fraud in the country. This is when
- 1:20:29Speaker 2: I love you. All right, be honest now. Let's go ahead.
- 1:20:31Speaker 2: What's your answer? No, I mean, I think Quinn said
- 1:20:33Speaker 2: it best. Like, they are a really good team. I've
- 1:20:35Speaker 2: enjoyed watching them all year. But the fact of the
- 1:20:37Speaker 2: matter is the schedule coming down the stretch is still really,
- 1:20:41Speaker 2: really tough. I mean, there are games that I think
- 1:20:44Speaker 2: look easier, i.e. that Florida game. The game at Missouri,
- 1:20:47Speaker 2: maybe not as hard as we anticipated it being. But
- 1:20:50Speaker 2: there's still probably going to be one, maybe two. I
- 1:20:53Speaker 2: could even see three losses. coming down the stretch so
- 1:20:56Speaker 2: while it's been a very good season and they're overachieving
- 1:20:59Speaker 2: i i just i'm i don't think they do.
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: It this year i i don't think so either and
- 1:21:05Speaker 1: that's that's the realistic side of me coming out i
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: i i i it's just been a fun.
- 1:21:10Speaker 2: Ride but exactly it's exactly what i said about indiana
- 1:21:13Speaker 2: and kurt signetti though this is what will stein wants
- 1:21:16Speaker 2: yes he.
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: Does I am more convinced of that now more than ever.
- 1:21:22Speaker 1: He wants people, and that's why I'm a little nervous
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: about UK being picked by 11.5 points over Vanderbilt this weekend.
- 1:21:28Speaker 1: That makes me nervous. I want them to be not
- 1:21:30Speaker 1: to pick every single game. And I think from here
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: on out, with maybe the exception of the UofL game,
- 1:21:37Speaker 1: I think UK will be the underdog for every single game.
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: With the exception of UofL, so the Florida game, I
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: don't know. But I think that'll probably be a pick.
- 1:21:47Speaker 1: UK will be the underdog for Tennessee. UK will be
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: the underdog for Missouri, Florida. I don't know. I think
- 1:21:56Speaker 1: there's a favorite at home. You think so? Because it's
- 1:21:58Speaker 1: a home game. One at one and a half. Yeah.
- 1:22:01Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:22:02Speaker 1: Oh, I think it'll be two and a half. So
- 1:22:03Speaker 1: two and a half, three, maybe even three, but I, that,
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: like you said, it'll be a pick them. So without
- 1:22:09Speaker 1: a doubt. Now you have L if, if, if UK somehow,
- 1:22:13Speaker 1: some way beats, uh, Vanderbilt takes one of the two
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: between Missouri and Tennessee. I think UK will be the
- 1:22:23Speaker 1: pick to win the game at home and then wins
- 1:22:26Speaker 1: at Florida. So they only lose one more game. I
- 1:22:29Speaker 1: think UK will be like a six or seven point
- 1:22:32Speaker 1: advantage over UofL. Definitely. Yeah.
- 1:22:35Speaker 3: Now if it was at U of L, I think
- 1:22:36Speaker 3: it'd be completely different. I think the over under needs
- 1:22:38Speaker 3: to probably be like 117 points.
- 1:22:40Speaker 1: I got to tell you, I enjoyed that. That was fun.
- 1:22:47Speaker 1: I mean, cause I'm saving the best for last. Are
- 1:22:49Speaker 1: you ready? Notre Dame fraud or not fraud. You both
- 1:22:55Speaker 1: know what my answer is. I'm going to join you.
- 1:22:58Speaker 1: I'm going to say fraud. Uh, I don't believe in
- 1:23:02Speaker 1: Freeman or CJR. I don't either.
- 1:23:04Speaker 2: Fraud.
- 1:23:05Speaker 1: When you get to pick your own schedule. Exactly.
- 1:23:08Speaker 3: Well, it's kind of. You have to play a certain
- 1:23:11Speaker 3: amount of ACC teams. And I think they're a fraud,
- 1:23:14Speaker 3: but everybody's talking about, you know, BYU and Miami. They
- 1:23:18Speaker 3: do have to play SMU. True.
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: Second to last week of the season.
- 1:23:22Speaker 3: SMU, I don't think they're great, but they can scare
- 1:23:26Speaker 3: a squad that, They have an offense that is explosive
- 1:23:29Speaker 3: and they can, you know, jump on Notre Dame like that.
- 1:23:32Speaker 3: So I think Notre Dame is a fraud and, I
- 1:23:35Speaker 3: think they can come away three losses at the end
- 1:23:38Speaker 3: of this year.
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: And then they're out. So they would be completely out.
- 1:23:42Speaker 1: I still think they might be out with two losses,
- 1:23:44Speaker 1: but the media will find a way to keep them
- 1:23:47Speaker 1: in the top 12, and they promise, oh, we'll do
- 1:23:50Speaker 1: what you say. We'll make you in the playoffs if
- 1:23:53Speaker 1: you're in the top 12, which I think is just
- 1:23:55Speaker 1: fraudulent in that case right there as well. It's just,
- 1:23:58Speaker 1: it's not fair. So anyway, all right, we got to
- 1:24:00Speaker 1: take a break. This is our last break. 502-414-1450 if
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: you want to text in on Whistly Thief Text Line
- 1:24:06Speaker 1: on this last segment. Stay right there. One more coming up.
- 1:24:11Speaker 1: I wish the joke was on you. I'm still the
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: one who will wear it. Cause you come with layers
- 1:24:20Speaker 1: of cruel like a cake of mascara.
- 1:24:26Speaker 4: Thank you.
- 1:24:34Speaker 1: All right, we're on our last segment today of Just
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: the Cats. Listen, Quinn, I'm going to tell you right now,
- 1:24:42Speaker 1: the more you're on here, the more you're comfortable, the
- 1:24:44Speaker 1: more I enjoy having you here. I just want you
- 1:24:46Speaker 1: to know that. So I think you should quit school
- 1:24:48Speaker 1: and just come do Just the Cats. Don't do that, Quinn.
- 1:24:52Speaker 1: 48 Handley texted back in, Michael, my comment earlier about
- 1:24:56Speaker 1: us having nothing in common shouldn't be construed as negative.
- 1:25:02Speaker 1: I didn't take it as negative, but one summer at
- 1:25:05Speaker 1: the sports spectrum, I was being bombarded by bedbugs in
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: my tack, uh, room and moved into the hay room
- 1:25:12Speaker 1: where I slept on three bales of straw covered by
- 1:25:15Speaker 1: a horse blanket. I'm disappointed. You don't like the Beatles,
- 1:25:19Speaker 1: but I'm elated. You sleep in total comfort. Wow, man. Um, yeah,
- 1:25:24Speaker 1: God bless you. So, uh, yeah, I, I will say, uh, Uh, I've,
- 1:25:30Speaker 1: I've had a great life and I had a mom
- 1:25:32Speaker 1: and dad that took care of me and, uh, and
- 1:25:34Speaker 1: I miss them dearly. So that's, that's all I can
- 1:25:36Speaker 1: say without getting emotional about my parents. But yeah, I, uh,
- 1:25:40Speaker 1: I have had a great life thanks to my parents, but, uh,
- 1:25:43Speaker 1: All right, let's talk about a couple things. Number one,
- 1:25:46Speaker 1: UK football safety Jordan Castell, named SEC Defensive Player of
- 1:25:51Speaker 1: the Week after picking off two interceptions against Oklahoma. No,
- 1:25:55Speaker 1: he only had one. Was it one? Okay. Yeah, didn't
- 1:25:58Speaker 1: the other one? I thought he had two. I can't
- 1:26:01Speaker 1: think of the kid's name. The good one. Okay. Ty Bryant?
- 1:26:04Speaker 1: Is that right? Yeah, he had two of them. Okay,
- 1:26:06Speaker 1: after UK did not convert the fourth and four on
- 1:26:10Speaker 1: the Oklahoma four, Castell... This is the amazing part. So
- 1:26:14Speaker 1: when UK did not get that first touchdown on that
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: fourth down play, they were fourth and four. We talked
- 1:26:21Speaker 1: about it yesterday. He goes up. Castell goes up to
- 1:26:24Speaker 1: Will Stein and says, I got your back. He promised
- 1:26:28Speaker 1: to get the ball back, and what did he do?
- 1:26:30Speaker 1: He went and did it. He told Stein to just
- 1:26:33Speaker 1: trust us. We trust him, whatever he calls. If he
- 1:26:37Speaker 1: wants to keep going on fourth down, we all behind him.
- 1:26:41Speaker 1: I love how he says that. Don't worry about it.
- 1:26:44Speaker 1: The defense, we got you. Is that awesome? That's a
- 1:26:49Speaker 1: prime example right there, Justin, of a team loving his
- 1:26:53Speaker 1: coach and trusting his coach. Yeah, oh, for sure. Yeah,
- 1:26:57Speaker 1: and I was wrong. I thought so. He had two interceptions.
- 1:27:00Speaker 1: Ty Bryant also had two. Yeah. Patrick texted in, hey, Michael,
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: what do you think about the Rays making the World Series?
- 1:27:06Speaker 1: He's pumped. Yeah, I'm pretty excited. Patrick, I'm giddy. I mean,
- 1:27:12Speaker 1: just between UK football doing so well, and Oscar Combs
- 1:27:17Speaker 1: is always making fun of me about this, because I'm
- 1:27:20Speaker 1: a football fan. And he's like, Michael, be careful. Now,
- 1:27:24Speaker 1: you're a basketball fan, too. I said, yes, but it's
- 1:27:26Speaker 1: football season. And then on top of it all, my Rays,
- 1:27:30Speaker 1: who this is only their third time making the World Series.
- 1:27:34Speaker 1: I'm giddy. I'm so excited. It's not even funny. Only
- 1:27:37Speaker 1: thing to make it better is if my dad was
- 1:27:39Speaker 1: here with me. So anyway, all right, let's talk about
- 1:27:42Speaker 1: Will Stein now. Are you ready for this? The bonuses
- 1:27:46Speaker 1: are starting to hit for Will Stein. If he wins
- 1:27:50Speaker 1: this weekend against Vanderbilt, are you ready what this one
- 1:27:56Speaker 1: game means to him?
- 1:27:57Speaker 4: $ 100, 000.
- 1:27:57Speaker 1: Whoa. If he gets to eight wins, he earns $ 200, 000.
- 1:27:59Speaker 1: If he wins nine, 10, 11, it's an additional $ 200, 000
- 1:28:02Speaker 1: for each game. If UK goes 11-1, he will receive $ 900, 000
- 1:28:17Speaker 1: in bonuses. Good for him. Exactly. And you know what?
- 1:28:22Speaker 1: It's deserved. Above and beyond the $ 5. 1 million he's already making.
- 1:28:28Speaker 1: So if UK makes it to the SEC championship, he's
- 1:28:32Speaker 1: going to get an additional $ 100, 000. I mean, it's just,
- 1:28:36Speaker 1: if UK wins that... he gets an additional $ 150, 000. If
- 1:28:41Speaker 1: UK makes the playoffs, he gets an additional $ 250, 000. Oh,
- 1:28:48Speaker 1: that should be more. If he makes the college football
- 1:28:52Speaker 1: playoff championship, he gets an additional $ 500, 000. And I didn't
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: know this. If the team gets an accumulative GPA of 3.0,
- 1:29:05Speaker 1: he gets an additional $ 50, 000. Well, that should be easy.
- 1:29:09Speaker 1: I mean, the max incentive he can get is $ 2. 5 million.
- 1:29:13Speaker 1: It's like, wow. And I'm telling you right now, every
- 1:29:18Speaker 1: team is going to be out there. trying to get
- 1:29:21Speaker 1: him to go to their team. If Michigan makes a change,
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: if any of these other teams make a change, the
- 1:29:27Speaker 1: first person they're going to call, Florida State, that's right.
- 1:29:31Speaker 1: Go ahead and say it, Quinn. You don't have to
- 1:29:33Speaker 1: make a signal. He's doing the chop over here. Just
- 1:29:36Speaker 1: go ahead and say it.
- 1:29:37Speaker 3: Florida State might look at Will Stein. They are in
- 1:29:40Speaker 3: trouble down there. Oh, yeah, poor Mike. I mean, he's
- 1:29:43Speaker 3: got to be out of there, don't you think? Will
- 1:29:46Speaker 3: Stein's not leaving.
- 1:29:48Speaker 1: I don't think so either. I don't know how many
- 1:29:50Speaker 1: times I've got to say that. Do they renegotiate his
- 1:29:52Speaker 1: contract after the first year? Yes.
- 1:29:54Speaker 2: See, I think so too. They'll do exactly what Indiana
- 1:29:56Speaker 2: did with Cignetti. They'll just continue to give him more
- 1:29:59Speaker 2: and more money to incentivize him to want to stay,
- 1:30:01Speaker 2: and he's not going anywhere.
- 1:30:03Speaker 1: Zach texted in, will there be a World Series appearance
- 1:30:06Speaker 1: for Michael? It's in the works. How's that? Yeah, I'm going.
- 1:30:14Speaker 1: I don't care what's happening. I don't care what's going on.
- 1:30:16Speaker 1: I'm going to the World Series to see my race play.
- 1:30:18Speaker 1: When's the last time they were in the World Series?
- 1:30:20Speaker 1: Six years ago. Oh, really?
- 1:30:22Speaker 3: 2020.
- 1:30:22Speaker 1: That recently? Yeah, yeah. They've been in it three times. So,
- 1:30:26Speaker 1: and I hope to goodness they can figure a way
- 1:30:29Speaker 1: to win this. Who has the advantage? Is it American
- 1:30:31Speaker 1: League or National League? National League. Is it National? Yeah,
- 1:30:34Speaker 1: for sure. How did they get it? The Dodgers. Oh,
- 1:30:37Speaker 1: you mean home field advantage. Yeah, that's what I'm talking about.
- 1:30:39Speaker 1: I thought it was the American League that had home
- 1:30:41Speaker 1: field advantage. I thought it was the National League because
- 1:30:43Speaker 1: the Brewers had the best record. Oh, is that what
- 1:30:45Speaker 1: it is?
- 1:30:45Speaker 4: Okay.
- 1:30:46Speaker 1: All right, then. Michelle said, go Brewers. I'm sorry I
- 1:30:49Speaker 1: even read that. Why did I even read that, Michelle?
- 1:30:52Speaker 1: That makes me angry. Is there anything else in Milwaukee
- 1:30:56Speaker 1: besides beer? Is it known for anything? The Bucks. Yeah.
- 1:31:01Speaker 1: Milwaukee's gorgeous. Former Giannis Antetokounmpo. No longer. And it is
- 1:31:05Speaker 1: the Brewers with home field. He just did a teardrop
- 1:31:09Speaker 1: on his cheek. Well, I bet they can see you
- 1:31:12Speaker 1: on YouTube, can't they? He just did a teardrop for this. Oh,
- 1:31:16Speaker 1: my gosh, man. Got to go live in Miami. What
- 1:31:18Speaker 1: a tough life. Somebody's getting a little comfortable with radio
- 1:31:21Speaker 1: over here, just to let you know. I mean, you
- 1:31:23Speaker 1: might not be doing play-by-play. You might be doing daily
- 1:31:26Speaker 1: radio shows, Quinn, just to let you know. You're kind
- 1:31:29Speaker 1: of good at this. Anyway, all right. Tomorrow, it's Tuesday, and,
- 1:31:33Speaker 1: of course, we didn't have Corey Price. He's traveling back
- 1:31:36Speaker 1: from Oklahoma, so he'll be on with us tomorrow. But
- 1:31:39Speaker 1: we're getting closer to games, and, yeah, well, tonight's a
- 1:31:43Speaker 1: big game. You reminded me of that a minute ago.
- 1:31:45Speaker 1: Tennessee's headed to Cameron Indoor to play Duke. That'll be
- 1:31:49Speaker 1: a good game to watch. Oh, that's tonight? Hell, yeah.
- 1:31:52Speaker 3: The Blue Devils got some monsters. They're scary. They loaded up,
- 1:31:58Speaker 3: especially that front court. I think they have four seven-plus footers.
- 1:32:03Speaker 1: Whatever. And they're all skilled. Who are they coached by?
- 1:32:06Speaker 1: John Shire. Exactly. That's all you need to say right there.
- 1:32:09Speaker 1: John Shire is all you need to remember, okay? It
- 1:32:13Speaker 1: doesn't matter if they have all the number one recruits
- 1:32:15Speaker 1: out there. They're still coached by, what's his name again?
- 1:32:18Speaker 1: John Shire. Yeah, keep forgetting it.
- 1:32:19Speaker 3: Dweeb!
- 1:32:20Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly. Yeah. Do you have any faith that Duke
- 1:32:24Speaker 1: will do anything this year as far as coaching? I
- 1:32:26Speaker 1: actually do. I'm really scared of Duke. Really?
- 1:32:30Speaker 3: Because they're led by that monster front court, and then
- 1:32:34Speaker 3: they just load it up.
- 1:32:35Speaker 1: Might be your last appearance on Just the Cats.
- 1:32:38Speaker 3: Sorry to all the Kentucky fans out there.
- 1:32:40Speaker 1: All right, Quinn, having fun with you. I really love
- 1:32:43Speaker 1: it when you're on here. So, everybody, have a great day.
- 1:32:45Speaker 1: We'll see you tomorrow on Just the Cats.
- 1:32:50Speaker 4: I'm looking too desperately But so far has not been
- 1:32:55Speaker 4: fun I should just stay home
