- 0:14Speaker 1: Michael mccuador delighted to be joined by my esteem the
- 0:17Speaker 1: colleagues from Drahalla, mister Jimmy English and originally from toront
- 0:21Speaker 1: Don't worry is the abit at Dave McKee starting with you,
- 0:24Speaker 1: Jimmy and just chatting off Coward. Good to be back
- 0:27Speaker 1: talking a bit of ball and it's funny one because
- 0:30Speaker 1: the months just fly in and we're sitting here now.
- 0:33Speaker 1: The draft is on Thursday night. We're black man.
- 0:36Speaker 2: I'm excited, Mick, I'm very excited. It's good to be
- 0:39Speaker 2: back with you boys. It feels like forever since we
- 0:41Speaker 2: did our last podcast, which it kind of is now.
- 0:44Speaker 2: It was back in back in December or January even
- 0:47Speaker 2: we did our last podcast. So and the exciting times
- 0:51Speaker 2: at Edge, exciting times for Steeters fans in Ireland with
- 0:54Speaker 2: Edward and that's going on. Big things happening here in
- 0:57Speaker 2: Ireland with the Steeters obviously, and things to look forward
- 1:01Speaker 2: to in Pittsburgh this season. It's kind of a new era,
- 1:05Speaker 2: a new new era in Pittsburgh with some of the
- 1:08Speaker 2: changes that have been taking place, and yeah, I mean
- 1:13Speaker 2: football is football. Events are few bar between during the offseason,
- 1:17Speaker 2: and the draft is obviously one of those big events
- 1:18Speaker 2: we all look forward to his fans, So I'm excited
- 1:21Speaker 2: to see what happens on Currison Night with pick number
- 1:24Speaker 2: pick number twenty deal.
- 1:26Speaker 1: A ring in two b seconds Smith, Jimmy, I know
- 1:28Speaker 1: we had a chance to go to the Kicking Clinic
- 1:30Speaker 1: last when you heard your chat with Dan, you were
- 1:32Speaker 1: also taught on talking to both Sean and Jordan.
- 1:36Speaker 2: Yeah, as as somebody.
- 1:37Speaker 1: With her boots on the ground. How did you find
- 1:39Speaker 1: the day itself?
- 1:40Speaker 2: It was fantastic, Mike. It was great to be there
- 1:43Speaker 2: and see, I mean how efficiently run it was. It
- 1:46Speaker 2: was it was great to see the talent on display
- 1:49Speaker 2: from the Irish lads. Obviously some serious NFL potential talent there,
- 1:54Speaker 2: but also just to have a look at the way
- 1:55Speaker 2: that Jordan. Unfortunately I arrived a few minutes late. I
- 2:00Speaker 2: couldn't find the exact location. It was very well, very
- 2:02Speaker 2: well hidden, but it looked like there was some great
- 2:04Speaker 2: punting and punting discourse taking place in the outside section
- 2:10Speaker 2: and before the lads mold inside for the indoor section
- 2:12Speaker 2: which was the place kicking in field goals. But it
- 2:14Speaker 2: was great to see, you know, just how how Sean
- 2:18Speaker 2: and Jordan interacted with it with the players and guided
- 2:21Speaker 2: them through the session and in part of their knowledge.
- 2:24Speaker 2: I mean, there was plenty of the with plenty of conversations,
- 2:26Speaker 2: with plenty of pointers. And it was also great afterwards
- 2:30Speaker 2: talked to both Jordan and Sean and get their perspective
- 2:33Speaker 2: as former poorer NFL players on what they saw on
- 2:37Speaker 2: get their thoughts on what they could possibly expect from
- 2:42Speaker 2: the from the lads who were there making making it grow.
- 2:45Speaker 2: So it was. It was a great afternoon overall. Really
- 2:48Speaker 2: enjoyed it.
- 2:49Speaker 1: I've seen some of your videos as well. Social it
- 2:51Speaker 1: was great to see the guys over there as well.
- 2:52Speaker 1: Great guys seem to really enjoy their time with Ireland.
- 2:55Speaker 1: Props to the Steers for hosting that kicking clinick over
- 2:58Speaker 1: the last week, and I know there's more come over
- 3:00Speaker 1: the next few months. Do you have one thing that's
- 3:02Speaker 1: changed as we last book, We have a new president
- 3:05Speaker 1: of the ga as both to run man seeing our
- 3:09Speaker 1: mama and get the president. We're joking, We're joking, obviously
- 3:12Speaker 1: great to see jard Of Burns get the presidency of
- 3:14Speaker 1: the GA. We've seen members of the g and GPA
- 3:17Speaker 1: go over to Pittsburgh. That was really cool, it wasn't
- 3:19Speaker 1: it sort of it showed you, abay, sort of a
- 3:21Speaker 1: small world. Did we see something that jard Of Burns
- 3:22Speaker 1: go over to Pittsburgh.
- 3:25Speaker 3: I just said, it's been crazy, Like you know, it's
- 3:28Speaker 3: the amending of two worlds in the one has been
- 3:31Speaker 3: you know, it's set our world into their world. But obviously,
- 3:34Speaker 3: you know, we're we're coming together. It's good to see
- 3:36Speaker 3: you know, the high levels of the GA, you know,
- 3:38Speaker 3: the president heading over and stuff, and I sort of
- 3:41Speaker 3: just joined in with all the fun and promoting the
- 3:43Speaker 3: game as well. So good to say our game is
- 3:46Speaker 3: obviously getting the mended in with ours. But in terms
- 3:48Speaker 3: of like my off season, I've just put sort of
- 3:50Speaker 3: been hybernating and I thought I would get probably a
- 3:53Speaker 3: nice little bit of a hibernation going. But to be honest,
- 3:56Speaker 3: the free agency market just knocked me senseless. The amount
- 3:59Speaker 3: of changes and you know, ridiculous things we're going to
- 4:02Speaker 3: talk about on the podcast has been absolutely not So
- 4:04Speaker 3: if you haven't been paying attention, you're probably gonna be
- 4:07Speaker 3: surprised with a few things we have to say, but
- 4:09Speaker 3: who knows, and just but obviously you know, it just
- 4:11Speaker 3: to have come back everything with Jimmy was saying there
- 4:13Speaker 3: about you know, kicking clinic. That's not like an absolutely
- 4:16Speaker 3: amazing of that you know to be a part of.
- 4:17Speaker 3: And it's something that obviously you know, we've seen our
- 4:20Speaker 3: own players, you know, with Charlie Smith heading the New
- 4:22Speaker 3: Orleans Saints and stuff. It just shows it can it
- 4:24Speaker 3: can happen. So shout out to Jimmy and shout out
- 4:27Speaker 3: to you know everybody who's who's who is there and
- 4:29Speaker 3: helping out and you know, helping the youth of Aaron
- 4:31Speaker 3: get into the game.
- 4:32Speaker 1: Hopefully jarlev is handling not only a terrible tile with
- 4:35Speaker 1: Sam maguire over to Peter Hart in July, good Mond,
- 4:39Speaker 1: Jarlath Hey going on fore aeg and see Jimmy, I'll
- 4:42Speaker 1: sorry you made look. I know it was a while
- 4:43Speaker 1: ago now, but just to sort of Briezy touch on it,
- 4:46Speaker 1: I think we wanted a lot of saddle before we
- 4:47Speaker 1: jump to the podcast. I guess the two biggest ones
- 4:49Speaker 1: at the minute, and feel free to jump out the
- 4:51Speaker 1: other points that got your fancy Russell Wilson, who went
- 4:54Speaker 1: from Seattle to Denver, didn't work out in Denver, goes
- 4:57Speaker 1: to Pittsburgh. Justin Fields the Pittsburgh Also, financially, it's a
- 5:02Speaker 1: very low deal for the team to pay for Russell
- 5:05Speaker 1: Wilson over the course of a year, So I get it. Financially,
- 5:07Speaker 1: I'm going to be really intrigued to see if he
- 5:09Speaker 1: can get back to seventy sorry, seventy or early or
- 5:13Speaker 1: eightly five percent of his form in Seattle. I'm really intrigued.
- 5:17Speaker 1: And then also you've got a guy that just In
- 5:18Speaker 1: Field's going in from day. I won't go up with
- 5:20Speaker 1: the battle with him short term, I get it. Intriguesy
- 5:23Speaker 1: was gonna happen.
- 5:25Speaker 2: Yeah, two very interesting prospects coming in a quarterback, and
- 5:30Speaker 2: I think Justin Fields is possibly even more interesting than
- 5:34Speaker 2: Russell Wilson, obviously, just where they are in their career.
- 5:37Speaker 2: I think touching on Justin Field's first, I think that's
- 5:40Speaker 2: more of a long term reclamation project. Obviously, such a
- 5:44Speaker 2: such a talent, such a generational talent, and unfortunately it
- 5:47Speaker 2: didn't quite work out from your Chicago, so I think
- 5:50Speaker 2: it's an excellent opportunity for him to come in and
- 5:53Speaker 2: learn under Russell and be tutored by by Russell and
- 5:57Speaker 2: watch because obviously they're they're very similar quarterbacks in terms
- 6:00Speaker 2: of their play style. But in terms of Russell Wilson,
- 6:03Speaker 2: I think it gives us a great opportunity to to win. Now.
- 6:06Speaker 2: I mean, he's a proven quarterback, he's won and is
- 6:10Speaker 2: he won a Super Bowl. I think he has won
- 6:12Speaker 2: a super Bowl.
- 6:12Speaker 1: He's one he wont to get the Broncos in New
- 6:15Speaker 1: York and you could argue there were one yard away
- 6:17Speaker 1: from winning too.
- 6:18Speaker 2: You know, yeah, exactly exactly that that interamous play with
- 6:23Speaker 2: with the play call there. But no, I think it's
- 6:26Speaker 2: it's in terms of those two coming in, it's it's look,
- 6:28Speaker 2: it's great for the Steers. It's it's it's a low
- 6:31Speaker 2: cost investment, and it's it's low risk, high reward. I
- 6:35Speaker 2: think justin Field's offers potentially more long term value at quarterback.
- 6:39Speaker 2: And I was still kind of reeling by what happened
- 6:43Speaker 2: when those two were signed and our incumbent quarterback hit
- 6:47Speaker 2: the bricks, So that that was that was a bit
- 6:50Speaker 2: of a shock. But I think, look, I love the
- 6:52Speaker 2: aggression from from from Omar Khan. I think he's made
- 6:55Speaker 2: some great move in free agency and definitely moves that
- 6:58Speaker 2: were needed. I think the urban is ation needed to
- 7:00Speaker 2: be shaken up a little bit. I think things have
- 7:03Speaker 2: just gotten a bit too kind of too kind of
- 7:05Speaker 2: stale maybe, And I think this will these moves and
- 7:08Speaker 2: quarterback will give the series a shot in the arm.
- 7:10Speaker 2: And hopefully, I mean we saw last year our defense
- 7:13Speaker 2: was top tier and now it's it's time for the
- 7:15Speaker 2: offense step up, and hopefully these two quarterbacks will will
- 7:18Speaker 2: do that for us.
- 7:21Speaker 1: Loads of different players coming to a free agency. Patrick Queen,
- 7:25Speaker 1: Dave Van Jefferson trying to sort of lump it up,
- 7:27Speaker 1: but I will tall with the draft of the minute.
- 7:29Speaker 1: I can't wait to hear your picking that people's draft
- 7:31Speaker 1: the other night. But any our moves took your pick
- 7:34Speaker 1: or any anybody you want to talk about from free agency?
- 7:37Speaker 3: Yeah, well, you know, even just even not in some
- 7:39Speaker 3: paces around you know. Cornell Patterson was another one I
- 7:42Speaker 3: thought was a great odd and you know in the
- 7:44Speaker 3: return game he's going to be a massive help. And
- 7:47Speaker 3: another the punter's name, excuse me, is it Johnson? Is it?
- 7:51Speaker 2: Or Cameron?
- 7:55Speaker 3: Yes, sir, punter was another player we needed. We've got
- 7:59Speaker 3: that as well, and I just about popular queen. You know,
- 8:01Speaker 3: the middle linebacker position was a position last year where
- 8:04Speaker 3: ourselves on the podcast were screaming, we just if we
- 8:06Speaker 3: can just sort of tie up that inside linebacker corps.
- 8:09Speaker 3: And we've got more than that now. So yeah, you know,
- 8:12Speaker 3: losing Potterard Peterson maybe a bit of a I suppose
- 8:15Speaker 3: you know, he's an agent that aren but at the
- 8:17Speaker 3: same time, you know, it's it's another piece we can
- 8:19Speaker 3: maybe look at and proven in the draft. So like
- 8:21Speaker 3: we got Jackson as well from the Ravens as well.
- 8:23Speaker 3: So and apart from that, you know, which, as Jimmy
- 8:26Speaker 3: said about Justin Vadis and Russell Wilson, it was I
- 8:28Speaker 3: think I was in New York at the time, and
- 8:30Speaker 3: I was like, I don't really feel like I'm in
- 8:32Speaker 3: Planet Earth right now. You know, who the hell expected
- 8:34Speaker 3: Russell Wilson and just In Phase both. But then yeah,
- 8:37Speaker 3: at the same time.
- 8:39Speaker 1: I remember it came out like maybe was at twelve
- 8:41Speaker 1: o'clock in the morning theses. I think me and Jimmy
- 8:43Speaker 1: were waking up to before everybody else in these coast stated, Yeah.
- 8:46Speaker 3: I was that's what I'm saying I woke up to
- 8:48Speaker 3: the thing on Sky Sports News saying Russell Wilson the
- 8:50Speaker 3: sign with and I was just a art. I think
- 8:52Speaker 3: it was just in Phadas at the time, but it's
- 8:54Speaker 3: a it's a bit of a mad one. But I'm
- 8:56Speaker 3: actually delighted, would be an understated about how I think
- 8:58Speaker 3: free agency's gone. You know, with got rid of a
- 9:00Speaker 3: few pieces that we probably needed to get rid of,
- 9:02Speaker 3: and with you know, with with with Cloud a few
- 9:04Speaker 3: holes as well. So I'm really excited for Thursday night
- 9:06Speaker 3: and seeing who Alvic and odds you know as part
- 9:08Speaker 3: of that then pieces and hopefully build on us.
- 9:10Speaker 2: I think overall it was a very strong free agency.
- 9:13Speaker 2: I actually forgot about corner up Patterson Dave in the
- 9:15Speaker 2: return game. He's a return specialist who is known from
- 9:18Speaker 2: returning kicks and I think now, luckily with the changes
- 9:21Speaker 2: that the the NFL made with with with the new
- 9:24Speaker 2: kickoff rules, I was honestly expecting them to all but
- 9:28Speaker 2: eliminate kickoffs and kick returns this year. They've kind of
- 9:31Speaker 2: they've kind of gone a bit but a bit of
- 9:33Speaker 2: a different approach, and I think that is largely in
- 9:37Speaker 2: terms of fan engagement they needed to do something. They
- 9:39Speaker 2: had to make. You know, it always became a foregone
- 9:42Speaker 2: conclusion that a kickoff and now would just be a touchback.
- 9:45Speaker 2: That was it was going to be a touchback. So
- 9:47Speaker 2: I think that affords us a bit of a bit
- 9:49Speaker 2: of room to get some big explosive plays. So I think,
- 9:52Speaker 2: like I said, omar Can needed to be a love
- 9:55Speaker 2: the love the aggression and just hope it pays off.
- 9:59Speaker 2: Now Patrick Lee is definitely going to pay off, obviously
- 10:01Speaker 2: with one of the top tier middle linebackers are inside
- 10:04Speaker 2: linebackers out there, so and then we can see what
- 10:08Speaker 2: pieces to add from the draft.
- 10:11Speaker 1: How like did these last few months ago for usually
- 10:14Speaker 1: because it feels to me like the Super BOWLUS diables
- 10:16Speaker 1: Obviously both in Vegas had the chance, right and not.
- 10:19Speaker 1: We haven't talked with this. We met a couple of players.
- 10:22Speaker 1: Can I just say I was scared of albut calbut
- 10:24Speaker 1: Heyward in person like lovely guy, like friendly giant. The
- 10:27Speaker 1: guy's absolutely huge. We met Nause, nag and nag and
- 10:32Speaker 1: Jalen and Jalen yeah or Radio Row.
- 10:35Speaker 2: I mean, I couldn't get over how big Nagie Arris was.
- 10:37Speaker 2: Obviously he's a big guy. But you know, you see
- 10:41Speaker 2: these guys on television and how you're the guy. Yeah,
- 10:44Speaker 2: he's a big guy, but you don't actually realize until
- 10:46Speaker 2: you're standing beside in an NFL player at six three
- 10:49Speaker 2: two and twenty pounds or whatever. Nagi is, he is
- 10:53Speaker 2: a big guy. And even Jalen Warren, I mean he's more,
- 10:56Speaker 2: he's more our height, make average average light for an
- 11:01Speaker 2: Irish man, but he is a he is a big
- 11:04Speaker 2: big man. So that that was like, that was just
- 11:06Speaker 2: I'm still that's still of dream to me, honestly walking
- 11:09Speaker 2: up and meeting those two. So and you can tell
- 11:11Speaker 2: by the picture out days we both there and meeting
- 11:14Speaker 2: those guys, I'm not jealous at all.
- 11:17Speaker 1: Yeah, it'll happen soon, It'll happen. So obviously, I'm sure
- 11:20Speaker 1: there's a lot of cool news that come over the
- 11:21Speaker 1: next few months in terms of what the stats are
- 11:23Speaker 1: gonna do next in Ireland. Will fly you over, Dave,
- 11:25Speaker 1: and hopefully we can not only get a pint agains
- 11:28Speaker 1: but also chat a bit of the ball and draft.
- 11:30Speaker 1: Coming up this week, the NFL Draft is in Detroit.
- 11:33Speaker 1: Who knows what's gonna happen with the Staders in Ireland.
- 11:35Speaker 1: I'm sure we'll be able to see on the social
- 11:37Speaker 1: channels over the next few days. Watch this space, and
- 11:40Speaker 1: I know there's a lot of activations going on. If
- 11:42Speaker 1: there's there's a big event in Mexico, So enjoy that, Folcus,
- 11:45Speaker 1: and great to see the staiostation around the world. Enjoy themselves.
- 11:48Speaker 1: Big week in the draft. There is no point in
- 11:52Speaker 1: saying otherwise, Guys, we'll talk about free agency there for
- 11:54Speaker 1: any team now has but trying to build up and
- 11:56Speaker 1: trying to add to what we have. But Jimmy, first off,
- 11:59Speaker 1: forgetting about the status if you're a GM, it's so
- 12:02Speaker 1: hard to hit goal in the draft. Yeah, if you
- 12:04Speaker 1: can get one or two players that are gonna be
- 12:06Speaker 1: in near squad over the next two or three years,
- 12:09Speaker 1: that's one thing. But you're trying to get that standout talent.
- 12:11Speaker 1: But generally, i'd love to know, because I know you
- 12:13Speaker 1: cover the league generally, right, what are your faults? Like?
- 12:16Speaker 2: Have you got any deep.
- 12:18Speaker 1: Faults on the draft this year? For me, it's very much.
- 12:20Speaker 1: I know it's quarterback heavy, but the thing you've got
- 12:22Speaker 1: medium is that's just so unpredictable, and I know we're
- 12:24Speaker 1: going to twenty at the moment, but it's very, very
- 12:27Speaker 1: unpredictable over the next few days. What's gonna happen.
- 12:29Speaker 2: I think it's it's very interesting. It's like you say,
- 12:33Speaker 2: it's probably one of the heaviest quarterback classes in a
- 12:37Speaker 2: long time. I mean the first four or five picks
- 12:39Speaker 2: could all be quarterbacks realistically, so in terms of available
- 12:45Speaker 2: talent from what we need to address. As as the Steelers,
- 12:49Speaker 2: there's one guy. I mean, I know this that it's
- 12:52Speaker 2: been going round and round for the Steelers now right
- 12:54Speaker 2: is it going to be center?
- 12:56Speaker 1: Oh?
- 12:56Speaker 2: General, O line? Are we gonna go cornerback? Are we
- 12:58Speaker 2: gonna go receiver? And But for me, I think an
- 13:02Speaker 2: interesting prospect is Cooper dejan at Iowa. I say that
- 13:06Speaker 2: because he is I mean, he's one of the best
- 13:09Speaker 2: available cornerbacks that I think is going to fall to
- 13:11Speaker 2: us at number twenty. I think in terms of I
- 13:14Speaker 2: think that in terms of center, I think her Big
- 13:17Speaker 2: can do the job we saw him he played in
- 13:19Speaker 2: relief last year. I think it's good enough to win
- 13:22Speaker 2: the starting job given time at number one. So I
- 13:25Speaker 2: think center is less of a concern for me than
- 13:27Speaker 2: cornerback and receiver right now. Obviously, we need to fill
- 13:31Speaker 2: that that slot opposite George Pickens. That's that's a that's
- 13:34Speaker 2: a big that's a big spot and to fill. And
- 13:37Speaker 2: I don't think we're going to get a receiver of
- 13:39Speaker 2: the likes of Marvin Marvin Harrison Junior or elite neighbors
- 13:42Speaker 2: at twenty possibly Xavier Worthy. My fault was a twenty
- 13:46Speaker 2: And I know, I'm just I'm just kind of randomly
- 13:47Speaker 2: throwing names out here. But if I, if I, if
- 13:50Speaker 2: I had to stick with with one piece, a one
- 13:53Speaker 2: piece to address it would be Cooper Dejen For me,
- 13:57Speaker 2: it will be I suppose that the priority and bef
- 14:00Speaker 2: for I Twist we're very familiar with to my good
- 14:04Speaker 2: friend Twist Dig Steeters time he threw had an interesting
- 14:08Speaker 2: theory earlier on to me that the Steiers could even
- 14:09Speaker 2: potentially trade back with San Francisco and in exchange for
- 14:14Speaker 2: Brandon Iyuk. So that's another interesting prospect to keep an
- 14:17Speaker 2: eye for as well. I know, it's very very intriguing,
- 14:20Speaker 2: so profs to Twist for that for that shout out
- 14:22Speaker 2: for that spot and so look, it's look, whatever happens,
- 14:26Speaker 2: it's gonna be very very interesting to see what the
- 14:28Speaker 2: staters do on Thursday night.
- 14:30Speaker 1: It's one of those things as well, Jimmy, because you know,
- 14:33Speaker 1: like you mentioned with a twister and talking about potential
- 14:36Speaker 1: guys coming in. Literally read it with John Lynch like
- 14:38Speaker 1: they're they're trying at the minute to try and get
- 14:40Speaker 1: him to stay. So that happened, that'd be incredible. But
- 14:42Speaker 1: it's it's when you're at that spot. It's when you're
- 14:44Speaker 1: at twenty and as a fan, you're thinking will they
- 14:47Speaker 1: go down? When they go up? You're looking at teams
- 14:49Speaker 1: like the Vikings, Dave that they have got two picks
- 14:51Speaker 1: in this draft, they might see some value there. We
- 14:54Speaker 1: know there's teams such as the Cardinals and Giants getting
- 14:57Speaker 1: calls of foreign vibe. I don't see Pittsburgh go up
- 14:59Speaker 1: to that spot. But the thing that I got and
- 15:01Speaker 1: feel free to mention your pick in a draft a
- 15:03Speaker 1: few just.
- 15:04Speaker 2: In a few minutes.
- 15:04Speaker 1: But the thing that I got from looking at different
- 15:06Speaker 1: Rocks drafts is usually it's it's sometimes easy to call
- 15:11Speaker 1: the first top five, six to seventy eight picks. This year,
- 15:13Speaker 1: it's very very difficult to actually get the order right.
- 15:15Speaker 1: I think outside of it, I just I saided the
- 15:18Speaker 1: top two picks for me, and I think it's really
- 15:20Speaker 1: really interesting to see what happens. Like you mentioned Nick
- 15:22Speaker 1: her Big there, could you bring a guy like Graham
- 15:25Speaker 1: Barton in really really impressive on his college film. Many
- 15:30Speaker 1: expect him and even going over this week, a lot
- 15:32Speaker 1: of people are expecting him to maybe go up inside
- 15:34Speaker 1: the top twelve, top thirteen. Would you expect Omar to
- 15:38Speaker 1: have to trade up and get him? Is that a
- 15:40Speaker 1: guy that we Is that a guy that we need
- 15:42Speaker 1: to put that much capital on and top rank guy
- 15:44Speaker 1: on the board. I'd say you can play all five spots.
- 15:46Speaker 1: Her Big, I think has got only forty nine snaps
- 15:50Speaker 1: at center in his career. Barton Dawes bring a bit
- 15:52Speaker 1: of flexibility and I like your pick as well there,
- 15:55Speaker 1: Jimmy d do you want to jump in and give
- 15:57Speaker 1: us your pick?
- 15:58Speaker 3: Yeah, Well, just everything you said there about you know,
- 16:02Speaker 3: maybe potentially moving up. I don't think it's maybe our
- 16:04Speaker 3: best opportunity this year because you know, there is that
- 16:07Speaker 3: many players, you know, as you have said, it's a
- 16:09Speaker 3: loaded draft and many positions. We've got a lot of
- 16:12Speaker 3: sort of different positions that we're looking at the minute.
- 16:14Speaker 3: But my pick, I would go for Jackson Paris Johnson,
- 16:17Speaker 3: the center from Oregon. You know, six foot four three
- 16:19Speaker 3: and twenty pounds, he's a great run blocker if we
- 16:22Speaker 3: can rely on that run game even better this year.
- 16:24Speaker 3: And for me, I think he's easily the best in
- 16:27Speaker 3: here here and Liaman on the board. If he falls,
- 16:29Speaker 3: I think I think we have to take him, and
- 16:32Speaker 3: I think he'd fit our scheme perfectly as well. You know,
- 16:34Speaker 3: with Arthur Smith, you know another where we're talking about,
- 16:37Speaker 3: you know, acquisitions in the off season. You know, order
- 16:40Speaker 3: Smith is one we've completely forgot about. You know, he's
- 16:42Speaker 3: very run reliant and I think he'll probably do very
- 16:45Speaker 3: well just in fields as well. So him being a
- 16:47Speaker 3: coach that heavily rising that run game, you know, the
- 16:49Speaker 3: center position is clearly somewhere when need is strengthen and
- 16:52Speaker 3: after Matt Lattin Mason cole Go, you know. So so
- 16:55Speaker 3: for me, I think he would be our number one prospect.
- 16:57Speaker 3: You know, I'll mentioned as well on the on the
- 16:59Speaker 3: People's Draft. You know, I had brand Thomas Jr. He's
- 17:02Speaker 3: another one that was looking at LSU. Great record for
- 17:06Speaker 3: developing wide receivers, players like Justin Jefferson, Jamar Chase obj
- 17:10Speaker 3: even Relick Neighbors who's you know, but hasually a top five,
- 17:13Speaker 3: top six picks, so he would probably be in an
- 17:15Speaker 3: next one and nine and eating just the sort of
- 17:16Speaker 3: backup I think Jimmy saidup a Cooper to Shawn, you know,
- 17:19Speaker 3: at least you know with Kipper to Sean, you know,
- 17:21Speaker 3: it depends on whether he follows us or not. Probably
- 17:24Speaker 3: I would hope so, but probably not. You know, we're
- 17:27Speaker 3: a bit in a corner, you know, after the releasing
- 17:29Speaker 3: Patrick Peterson, so PI can fill in that next real
- 17:31Speaker 3: road beside Joey Porter Jr. And then I would take
- 17:34Speaker 3: all of them. So there will probably be may number
- 17:36Speaker 3: ones eyes on. But in terms of moving forward, I
- 17:39Speaker 3: think we've done the aggressive work in pre agency. I
- 17:42Speaker 3: think we can take a bit of a backseat in
- 17:43Speaker 3: this one, and whoever follows us, we should take it.
- 17:47Speaker 1: Just looking at the first round and some of the
- 17:49Speaker 1: guys that you've picked over the last few years, starting
- 17:51Speaker 1: in twenty seventeen, TJ. Watt, you may have heard of him,
- 17:54Speaker 1: guys guy from Wisconsin, trell Adamins, Davin was we didn't
- 17:57Speaker 1: have a pick in twenty twenty in the first round. Nausey,
- 17:59Speaker 1: I'll see Kelly pick at his goals and him all
- 18:01Speaker 1: the best in the future as well. Broderick Jones, Jimmy,
- 18:04Speaker 1: as a fan, do you have any favorite draft moments
- 18:07Speaker 1: in terms of supporting the Steeters And I put you
- 18:08Speaker 1: on the spot here, Loine.
- 18:09Speaker 2: I feel like, well, you post a question to us
- 18:12Speaker 2: earlier on this morning, Nick, and I had to rack
- 18:16Speaker 2: my brains a little bit. There's a couple of Steelers
- 18:18Speaker 2: draft moments to stand out to me. One, and this
- 18:21Speaker 2: is a bit of a throwback for fans who were listening,
- 18:23Speaker 2: was when we picked Ardi Burns, the cornerback out of Auburn.
- 18:29Speaker 2: Maybe I forget now where he's actually played his college
- 18:31Speaker 2: football from, but I remember this was a year I
- 18:33Speaker 2: actually stayed up for the draft, which is a long
- 18:36Speaker 2: time ago now, and I remember seeing Ardy Burns pop
- 18:39Speaker 2: up and think to myself, who who was already Burns?
- 18:42Speaker 2: Actually I had to google already Burns. So in terms
- 18:46Speaker 2: of memorable Steeters draft moments, that definitely stands out for me.
- 18:51Speaker 2: But in terms of my favorite Steeters draft moment, I
- 18:53Speaker 2: would have to say it's shouldn't've been a fan, It's
- 18:56Speaker 2: probably when we draft from T J. Watt. I mean
- 18:58Speaker 2: that was just fantastic moment. I think when Steeters fans
- 19:02Speaker 2: saw that what that that name walk coming up on
- 19:04Speaker 2: the screen, We're like, here we go, we have a
- 19:06Speaker 2: real one here. And I think in many ways he's
- 19:09Speaker 2: turned out to be almost better than his brother JJ
- 19:12Speaker 2: in terms of versatility. And I'll never say that the
- 19:15Speaker 2: JJ's face if I ever, if I ever had the
- 19:18Speaker 2: pleasure of talking to him. So I think drafting drafting
- 19:21Speaker 2: TJ probably stands out as a highlight for me. I mean,
- 19:25Speaker 2: I loved and obviously wish Kenny is no longer within
- 19:27Speaker 2: the team, wishing him all the best as well, But
- 19:30Speaker 2: I did love when we drafted the quarterback because there
- 19:32Speaker 2: was a great sense of hope that perhaps this was
- 19:34Speaker 2: the next you know, the next generation of great Steeters quarterbacks.
- 19:38Speaker 2: And unfortunately it hasn't quite worked out that way, but
- 19:41Speaker 2: it was still you know, I think it was a
- 19:43Speaker 2: great moment for all Steelers stands so, and they've definitely
- 19:46Speaker 2: provided us with some with some memorable moments over the
- 19:49Speaker 2: course of my fandomd.
- 19:52Speaker 1: Of the man as we finish up, do you have
- 19:54Speaker 1: any peer will was in the draft?
- 19:57Speaker 3: Well, yeah, to be honest, you know, Jimmy Schatz is
- 20:00Speaker 3: a good one. With TJ. Wat you know, he's been
- 20:01Speaker 3: one of the few. Well, I suppose you could say
- 20:03Speaker 3: a few that I've actually have worked out. You know,
- 20:05Speaker 3: we have a couple.
- 20:06Speaker 2: But sorry if I stole your your pick, Dave, there, No,
- 20:14Speaker 2: I don't blame you.
- 20:14Speaker 3: Let's to be honest, like the monster he's turned into,
- 20:16Speaker 3: you know, I wouldn't blame me for that, Jimmy. But
- 20:19Speaker 3: you know, the canty pig at one. As you said,
- 20:20Speaker 3: it's a tough one because with Franco Horse announcing it
- 20:23Speaker 3: as well, you know, there's not many if you're going
- 20:25Speaker 3: to be draft the best sailers, are not many names
- 20:26Speaker 3: bigger than Franko Horse to be announcing it. And I
- 20:29Speaker 3: just said the fact that it just hasn't worked out
- 20:30Speaker 3: as a shame, but it's one as well, and as
- 20:33Speaker 3: well as that, you know, the Nausea Horse one. Even
- 20:35Speaker 3: though it wasn't a massive spectacle, it's one of those
- 20:37Speaker 3: where I just remember when we first drafted and I
- 20:39Speaker 3: was like, we've actually we've did this right. You know,
- 20:41Speaker 3: we're building the team around you know young you know,
- 20:44Speaker 3: good versatile running back from a good program in Alabama,
- 20:48Speaker 3: so as well as that, you know, when you think
- 20:50Speaker 3: of it. You know, if you think of a Chicago
- 20:51Speaker 3: Bursa and they have you know, all these draft memories,
- 20:54Speaker 3: good or bad, because they're always drafting close to the
- 20:56Speaker 3: top of the board. We're always dropping from twentyth right
- 20:59Speaker 3: up with the thirty seconds. So although we're not getting
- 21:02Speaker 3: the pick of the players, we're still helping on every time.
- 21:04Speaker 3: So yeah, that would probably be some of my early ones.
- 21:06Speaker 3: I'm not old enough to remember back then, of course,
- 21:08Speaker 3: but yeah, I'm sure he would have been probably one
- 21:10Speaker 3: of the daughter ones I think.
- 21:12Speaker 2: I think as well, the Steiers have done quite well recently,
- 21:16Speaker 2: relatively speaking in terms of draft picks and mean, Howson
- 21:18Speaker 2: has been something that happened worked out, but overall of
- 21:20Speaker 2: the past five or six years have been pretty pretty decent.
- 21:24Speaker 2: So it's hopefully that we start seeing some returning I mean,
- 21:27Speaker 2: you look at last year, hit a home run with
- 21:30Speaker 2: the first two picks. Obviously, oh my god, Robert Jones
- 21:35Speaker 2: in the first round, a three year starter out of
- 21:39Speaker 2: Georgia on the offensive line, and then Joey Porter Junior,
- 21:42Speaker 2: I mean didn't have the most stellar career Penn stage
- 21:46Speaker 2: in terms of interceptions, et cetera. But still, I mean,
- 21:50Speaker 2: what he's what he's done for so far, He's only
- 21:52Speaker 2: going to keep growing and building. So I'm excited to
- 21:54Speaker 2: see what what omar Kan can pull out of the
- 21:57Speaker 2: bank this year as well.
- 22:00Speaker 1: A number of selections in the draft this year, seven selections, obviously,
- 22:04Speaker 1: the twentieth pick in the first round, the nineteenth pick
- 22:06Speaker 1: in the second. In the third round we got the
- 22:08Speaker 1: twentieth and the thirty fourth pick, and in the fourth
- 22:11Speaker 1: round the nineteenth pick that's on the Saturday, and then
- 22:14Speaker 1: the sixth rond towards the end of Saturday, the second
- 22:16Speaker 1: pick and the nineteenth pick in the sixth round. At
- 22:19Speaker 1: least seven picks. Going to be interesting to see what happens.
- 22:22Speaker 2: Do you stay.
- 22:23Speaker 1: Tuned to stee Socials obviously the official staters and that's
- 22:26Speaker 1: Steters Ireland on X and on Instagram to be kept
- 22:29Speaker 1: up to date. Who knows what's going to happen over
- 22:32Speaker 1: the next few days.
- 22:32Speaker 2: Very very excited.
- 22:33Speaker 1: I know us guys will be back at some point
- 22:35Speaker 1: just to regroup and to start really planning our trip
- 22:37Speaker 1: to New Orleans for the Super Bowl next year and
- 22:39Speaker 1: next year after next week's draft. But hope you lots
- 22:42Speaker 1: enjoying the draft. Jimmy, do you appreciate, you know, just
- 22:45Speaker 1: coming on at a busy time with the NFL Draft.
- 22:47Speaker 1: The chat some ball and we will chat to you Alston.
- 22:49Speaker 2: Here we go, Here we go. Then
