Latest / UK Business Voices / The Roof Moss Cleaners' Commercial Roof and Gutter Cleaning: The Work, Step by Step
Transcript
- The Roof Moss Cleaners cleans commercial roofs and gutters as well as homes, on buildings such as warehouses, factories and leisure centres. This is UK Business Voices. The method is the same nine-step process used on a house. A risk assessment comes first. Then the surrounding area is protected and the access is set up, the downpipes are blocked, and the moss is scraped off by hand from the ridge down. Loose debris is blown off, the gutters are cleared, the ground is tidied, and the roof is finished with a biocide treatment. What changes on a commercial site is the access. One customer, a company near Heathrow, had its roofs and gutters cleared at three different sites. The team worked from a cherry picker and used Mansafe roof access, a fixed safety system for working on a roof. Another long-running job was a boarding school in Berkshire. There, the team cleaned the roofs and gutters over several years, working only from a cherry picker and an access tower. No ladders were used on site, and the work included the school's historic clay roofs. The team holds IPAF and PASMA training, which covers cherry pickers and access towers. Gutters are emptied by industrial vacuum and checked with a camera, and the gutter clean comes with a thirty-day guarantee against blockages. The biocide treatment carries a three-year moss-free guarantee. The Roof Moss Cleaners is a roof cleaning company based in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, run by Gareth Webb and Anthony Holt, who have cleaned roofs under the name since 2013, serving Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and the surrounding counties.
