- 0:01Speaker 1: Letting you know what is everybody's hard on.
- 0:21Speaker 2: We're all playing Ristbound now.
- 0:23Speaker 3: Has games put me in the roofbown demo team.
- 0:27Speaker 1: On everybody, I'm the one, the only the w oh okay,
- 0:31Speaker 1: I e we're still here.
- 0:34Speaker 2: Yay for some Keith Forging, but you know we're back now.
- 0:41Speaker 1: There's still a game to play. Yes, me and Dexter went.
- 0:43Speaker 4: To it has double meaning this time.
- 0:46Speaker 1: Yeah, we went to key Forge celebrations and now we're
- 0:51Speaker 1: back until next year.
- 0:55Speaker 5: We we as in Wookie and Dexter, Felix and I are, uh.
- 1:00Speaker 1: They are didn't go anywhere.
- 1:06Speaker 5: I mean I went to Paris, so you know, I mean,
- 1:09Speaker 5: I guess all right.
- 1:11Speaker 1: I went to Parish. What did you guys do?
- 1:14Speaker 2: What you we just went to Minneapolis, Minnesota, where there's
- 1:18Speaker 2: pretty much nothing to do.
- 1:19Speaker 1: Yeah, all of America.
- 1:23Speaker 5: How is the vibrant scene in the abandoned warehouse that
- 1:27Speaker 5: you guys played key Forging?
- 1:29Speaker 1: It's not an abandoned warehouse. It is the game center.
- 1:34Speaker 5: So I guess I can't say anything about game Center
- 1:37Speaker 5: because I believe a guy trying also enjoys that story.
- 1:42Speaker 1: So I don't know. It was the game center. It
- 1:46Speaker 1: was a good time by all, But concerning news.
- 1:52Speaker 2: People were just altered. Is still alive, We're still sticking around.
- 1:56Speaker 1: Still alive for okay, so all right, let's talk.
- 2:01Speaker 5: I don't know why you're starting this episode with concerning news.
- 2:04Speaker 5: This episode is amazing news. Everybody, what okay?
- 2:08Speaker 1: So what's the amazing news? Your game company lied to you.
- 2:15Speaker 4: Weeks.
- 2:16Speaker 1: I was not happy about when I when I saw that,
- 2:21Speaker 1: I I.
- 2:22Speaker 5: Will say, I'll let you guys talk first and have
- 2:26Speaker 5: your breakdown and discuss whatever you want because I'm too positive,
- 2:31Speaker 5: so you're too. Let's just.
- 2:36Speaker 1: Canocks balls. That's why he gets to go to Paris.
- 2:39Speaker 5: Everyone listen, I'm not Bill Clinton.
- 2:47Speaker 1: That's right. Little too soon, we don't know anything yet,
- 2:50Speaker 1: but too soon, A little too soon. We don't know
- 2:54Speaker 1: anything yet, so let's let's just wait. But anyways, go ahead,
- 2:58Speaker 1: you wake up. I don't remem was that was that
- 3:01Speaker 1: Thursday morning? Right away, Dexter, when we were reading this,
- 3:05Speaker 1: I want to say it was right.
- 3:07Speaker 2: I don't remember when it was. Exactually it was pretty
- 3:10Speaker 2: much right before we went to KFC though.
- 3:12Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:13Speaker 5: It was what people are referring to as bloody Monday,
- 3:17Speaker 5: so it was on a Monday.
- 3:19Speaker 2: Well, I don't remember reading it, so it was two
- 3:21Speaker 2: days before we left.
- 3:22Speaker 1: I don't remember reading it until Wednesday.
- 3:26Speaker 2: I did see it earlier. I think I saw it
- 3:28Speaker 2: on Monday or Tuesday.
- 3:29Speaker 1: Or maybe it was Wednesday. Either way, I really knew it. Well,
- 3:35Speaker 1: we actually don't need fifty thousand. We actually need two
- 3:40Speaker 1: point five fucking million. Jiminy crickets. That's a far cry
- 3:47Speaker 1: from fifty thousand. Yeah, nobody else, nobody else is like.
- 3:54Speaker 2: Hey, they almost got two point five million.
- 3:57Speaker 1: They got two point five or so, like they had
- 4:00Speaker 1: to make a cry to the community, yes, to please
- 4:04Speaker 1: help support. They needed to make a cry out and
- 4:07Speaker 1: extend it for a week. Now, if you're not concerned,
- 4:13Speaker 1: you ought to be right, I'm concerned.
- 4:18Speaker 5: I'm past the point of concerns.
- 4:20Speaker 1: So I'll like it. But like, okay, so you keep
- 4:22Speaker 1: saying like they say, they're saying, like two concern is
- 4:26Speaker 1: not one of the stages of grief.
- 4:28Speaker 5: But do you want to but you say a thought exercise.
- 4:32Speaker 1: Sure, let's do a thought exercise.
- 4:34Speaker 2: I'm ready for a thought exercise.
- 4:35Speaker 5: Sure, it's actually it's not even a it's not even
- 4:38Speaker 5: a thought exercise. Go to the latest Keyfords campaign and
- 4:41Speaker 5: tell me what their goal was it was and.
- 4:44Speaker 2: They raised three hundred thousand.
- 4:45Speaker 5: Yes, okay? And what was their goal on the campaign
- 4:49Speaker 5: before that? I wonder it was always fifty always fifty
- 4:52Speaker 5: all fifty thousand.
- 4:54Speaker 1: We all cool, we all get it, right, like this
- 4:58Speaker 1: is nothing new, We no, But like if it's it's
- 5:03Speaker 1: a different thing to say, like our goals fifty thousand,
- 5:06Speaker 1: but like we're really looking for like two hundred thousand, right,
- 5:11Speaker 1: you you came out and set our goals fifty thousand,
- 5:13Speaker 1: but we really need two point five million. These are
- 5:20Speaker 1: drastically different numbers because I thought for me, you look
- 5:25Speaker 1: at the campaign, you're like, shit, this campaign's doing fucking phenomenal, right,
- 5:30Speaker 1: they are crushing it, And then all of a sudden
- 5:33Speaker 1: they're like, well not really, guys, please sir, may I
- 5:38Speaker 1: have some more?
- 5:41Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 5:41Speaker 5: So if key Forge does all of their campaigns at
- 5:44Speaker 5: fifty thousand and altered is also a TCG, and did
- 5:47Speaker 5: theirs at fifty thousand, Uh, guess who suggests the fifty
- 5:53Speaker 5: thousand game found does.
- 5:55Speaker 2: All of the game down? People? They just tell them
- 5:58Speaker 2: to put fifty thousand means nothing. It's just the marketing play.
- 6:02Speaker 1: All the fucking marketing play right, we understand it's funded
- 6:06Speaker 1: in thirty seven seconds a right, like crazy, that's not
- 6:12Speaker 1: funded and they got funded that quick. I should go
- 6:15Speaker 1: fund it right now?
- 6:17Speaker 5: Yes, right, like that is like the standard, then what
- 6:22Speaker 5: is the is?
- 6:24Speaker 1: But we don't know if it's at We don't know
- 6:26Speaker 1: if it's the standard. Well, the issue basically I'm saying
- 6:31Speaker 1: the issue, well is it? I don't know. Let's go
- 6:34Speaker 1: a couple of other games. Yeah, I guess the other
- 6:36Speaker 1: game founds up here.
- 6:38Speaker 5: That's what game found suggest specifically for that type of project,
- 6:45Speaker 5: matter what.
- 6:47Speaker 1: Your goal is, this one's going well that's stupid. I
- 6:54Speaker 1: don't like that.
- 6:55Speaker 5: Yeah, so obviously you could you could say, well Equinox
- 6:59Speaker 5: should have just not like since the game found and
- 7:01Speaker 5: done what they wanted.
- 7:02Speaker 1: But that's a fair that's a huge number because like
- 7:05Speaker 1: if this funds, you got to come through, right, I mean.
- 7:11Speaker 2: Yeah, you gotta come through, right.
- 7:13Speaker 1: So the whole thing where it was like, well, we
- 7:16Speaker 1: don't know if we're going to continue if we don't
- 7:17Speaker 1: hit two point five million, like that's just that's that.
- 7:21Speaker 2: Was kind of weird that they said they were funded
- 7:23Speaker 2: and then they said they were going to send stuff
- 7:25Speaker 2: back if it didn't hit the two five, which was weird.
- 7:27Speaker 1: Right, that's well, no, that's not weird, that's fucking extortion, Dexter.
- 7:33Speaker 5: Yeah, I was. I was hoping we could skip over
- 7:36Speaker 5: this era.
- 7:37Speaker 1: But I know we forgot that.
- 7:39Speaker 2: I oh, like I've forgotten.
- 7:45Speaker 5: I forgot that. You haven't already gone through it like
- 7:47Speaker 5: the rest of us.
- 7:48Speaker 1: Gone through what Well, yeah, I haven't gone I haven't
- 7:51Speaker 1: like I haven't gone through the phases of morning, if
- 7:53Speaker 1: that's what you're saying.
- 7:54Speaker 5: Yeah, because we we we had a week off, so
- 7:57Speaker 5: you're like a week a week.
- 7:59Speaker 1: Behind, a little behind, right, right, So I had to
- 8:03Speaker 1: focus because some of us actually played in key Forge Worlds, right.
- 8:07Speaker 5: Yeah, So okay, Wookie, this is an altered podcast.
- 8:15Speaker 2: Yeah, I didn't make talk.
- 8:18Speaker 5: Are you doing over there?
- 8:20Speaker 2: Not in Worlds but at key Forge? Then zip it
- 8:24Speaker 2: the arkon open.
- 8:25Speaker 1: We can we can talk about what happened last year,
- 8:28Speaker 1: or you could do Okay, thank you.
- 8:30Speaker 5: Go go listen to Arcons corner. Anyways, I was in
- 8:34Speaker 5: the middle of giving you credit, Wookie insane. Actually, you
- 8:38Speaker 5: know what, you're right. I did try to just skip
- 8:42Speaker 5: ahead for the episode because a lot of us are
- 8:46Speaker 5: already at the point for the episode that I have written.
- 8:51Speaker 2: You.
- 8:54Speaker 1: That was it. I was just I was I was
- 8:56Speaker 1: extraordin listen we had looking on right, and I kind
- 9:00Speaker 1: of at least I thought I made it. I thought
- 9:03Speaker 1: I made it extremely extremely important that a big thing
- 9:07Speaker 1: with this is going to be transparency.
- 9:11Speaker 5: And then they went too transparent and it made people mad.
- 9:16Speaker 1: But then they weren't. It was like, what the fuck? Yeah,
- 9:20Speaker 1: it was just so.
- 9:23Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 9:23Speaker 5: As part of me saying, okay, you know what, you're right, Wookie,
- 9:27Speaker 5: I'll also give you the like I mean, I don't
- 9:32Speaker 5: want to say the insider play by play, but Wookie's
- 9:35Speaker 5: gonna be like, yeah, it fucking is so Monday Monday happened, right,
- 9:42Speaker 5: Everyone agrees the message put out on Monday was not good.
- 9:46Speaker 5: So it was kind of like, I honestly don't know
- 9:51Speaker 5: like who wrote it, who approved it, but I know
- 9:54Speaker 5: some people were out of office and it was just
- 9:59Speaker 5: kind of yet it out. Obviously it extremely backfired, so
- 10:06Speaker 5: they reworked, you know, their transparency or explanation of things,
- 10:14Speaker 5: and re released it after they had gotten some feedback,
- 10:19Speaker 5: and everyone who probably should have been involved initially was
- 10:25Speaker 5: involved in the like actual portrayal. Of course, the damage
- 10:31Speaker 5: was already done blah blah blah. And on one hand,
- 10:37Speaker 5: I can agree that the way they portrayed it on
- 10:40Speaker 5: Bloody Monday, if you want to call it, that was bad.
- 10:44Speaker 5: I also understand why they had this number and why
- 10:52Speaker 5: they they didn't want to continue if it was too
- 10:55Speaker 5: far off. I kind of see the boat they were
- 11:00Speaker 5: in where they were like, we don't want to deliver
- 11:02Speaker 5: you seeds and then immediately shut down and be like, Okay,
- 11:05Speaker 5: that's it, We're all done. Some people were totally fine
- 11:09Speaker 5: with that, to be honest. They're like, I would rather
- 11:10Speaker 5: just have the set and then if that's that, that's that.
- 11:15Speaker 5: But since you know, nothing's printed blah blah blah, they
- 11:20Speaker 5: thought it would be better to refund everyone and be
- 11:23Speaker 5: like we're not going to take your money and we're
- 11:25Speaker 5: not going to produce seeds. We're just gonna have to
- 11:27Speaker 5: shut down. So the second update, I think or trade
- 11:32Speaker 5: that a little better.
- 11:36Speaker 1: But yeah, So question two, are they going to need
- 11:42Speaker 1: two point five million every single game? Found?
- 11:47Speaker 4: Ye?
- 11:48Speaker 2: Right now, that's I know the plan. They did say
- 11:51Speaker 2: they're working on rearranging budgeting stuff since they didn't quite
- 11:55Speaker 2: get two point five, So maybe we're looking at like
- 11:58Speaker 2: two million for the next camp, but they do say
- 12:01Speaker 2: in a previous one that they would need two point
- 12:05Speaker 2: five for each Game Found continuing now. Of course, if
- 12:08Speaker 2: they find ways to move around the budget and make
- 12:10Speaker 2: it easier, it can very easily be less than that.
- 12:13Speaker 2: But we don't know for sure yet.
- 12:14Speaker 1: I don't know it's really I don't know if that's
- 12:17Speaker 1: a reasonable number.
- 12:20Speaker 5: And I think it actually is.
- 12:23Speaker 1: Okay, you want to hear why you're gonna tell me?
- 12:27Speaker 5: So the episode that I had originally written was about
- 12:30Speaker 5: the news as of today, and it includes the final
- 12:33Speaker 5: campaign results. Yes, looking at the final campaign results and
- 12:38Speaker 5: knowing how rocky this last month has been, with you know,
- 12:44Speaker 5: switching distribution, which some you know stories understood, some hated doing,
- 12:51Speaker 5: the first Game Found, which you know, had a lot
- 12:54Speaker 5: of confusion because people don't read, and maybe certain things
- 12:59Speaker 5: weren't as they could have be could have been. With
- 13:03Speaker 5: all of that, and with the you know, whole bloody
- 13:06Speaker 5: Monday and everything, they did one point four million from retailers,
- 13:13Speaker 5: from just retailers. Yeah, so the game Fountain ended quite
- 13:19Speaker 5: a good bit. Yeah, The Game Found ended at eight
- 13:22Speaker 5: hundred and ninety six, nine hundred and sixty seven. And
- 13:27Speaker 5: because of all of that, like instability and questioning and
- 13:31Speaker 5: blah blah blah, there were people who commented after and
- 13:35Speaker 5: they were like, wait, I didn't put in my order,
- 13:38Speaker 5: can I do it now? I changed my mind and
- 13:41Speaker 5: it's like that's not how it worked. So no, So
- 13:45Speaker 5: there's this really really weird like my brain honestly doesn't
- 13:51Speaker 5: understand it. But like the set doesn't get printed or
- 13:56Speaker 5: funded if it doesn't hit a goal, so then people
- 14:00Speaker 5: don't back it because they don't want to back a
- 14:03Speaker 5: game that's not going to hit the goal. Then if
- 14:05Speaker 5: you don't back it, it's not going to hit the goal.
- 14:07Speaker 5: So then when it hits the goal, they actually still
- 14:09Speaker 5: want to play the game. But they didn't want to
- 14:11Speaker 5: back it because they were worried it didn't make it.
- 14:13Speaker 5: But if they would have backed it, then it would
- 14:14Speaker 5: have made it.
- 14:15Speaker 2: Yep.
- 14:16Speaker 1: I think a small number. I think that's a small.
- 14:23Speaker 4: People.
- 14:23Speaker 3: Yeah, usually the lower louder people.
- 14:26Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, but I'm just aggressive ones like me.
- 14:30Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 14:30Speaker 5: If if you know, they continue strong, they learn from
- 14:37Speaker 5: this game found they get some of the LGS stuff
- 14:42Speaker 5: ironed out. I think it is highly possible to do this,
- 14:48Speaker 5: you know with the next one, will it for like
- 14:53Speaker 5: many years to come? Know, if key Fords just told
- 14:56Speaker 5: us anything, it'll kind of you know, start to slow
- 14:59Speaker 5: down down a little bit.
- 15:02Speaker 1: But I think or there's a difference. There is a
- 15:06Speaker 1: difference between key Forge and.
- 15:10Speaker 5: Well, there's a lot of differences.
- 15:11Speaker 4: Yeah, there's a lot of.
- 15:12Speaker 1: Difference beyond the card game. The two companies have two
- 15:17Speaker 1: extraordinarily different philosophies on how to do things right.
- 15:21Speaker 2: Yes, one is very bare bones. One wants to do
- 15:24Speaker 2: all the things they can, so they're going to have
- 15:26Speaker 2: much higher operating costs. Wow, that is one of the
- 15:31Speaker 2: very big things.
- 15:32Speaker 1: That is. Also one actually markets their game and tries
- 15:38Speaker 1: to get it out in front of people, yes, and
- 15:40Speaker 1: the other does not.
- 15:42Speaker 5: We actually actually had this conversation a lot over the
- 15:46Speaker 5: last week because there are parallels between key Forge and
- 15:51Speaker 5: Altered and key Forge does this game found set up
- 15:54Speaker 5: for every new set as well. And you know, we
- 15:58Speaker 5: were discussing that and every person that I said this
- 16:02Speaker 5: to agreed. They were like, oh, shoot, that's right. He
- 16:05Speaker 5: Forged not only has like their own printing, they do
- 16:09Speaker 5: it in house. Yes, you're you're right. They don't do anything.
- 16:13Speaker 5: They don't have OPI, they don't do consistent like tournaments, they.
- 16:20Speaker 2: Don't mark like max ten a year and half of those.
- 16:24Speaker 2: They kind of just let people do their own things.
- 16:28Speaker 1: Ten large ones. There's no consistent op in stores right,
- 16:32Speaker 1: which again we talked about this year again for the
- 16:37Speaker 1: empteenth time with Christian Peterson, and for the time with
- 16:41Speaker 1: Christian Peterson, we talked about, hey, why don't you market?
- 16:46Speaker 2: You know, it's fifty marketing works and fifty percent doesn't.
- 16:52Speaker 2: And I don't know what part works.
- 16:53Speaker 1: I don't know any part I was and I was like,
- 16:56Speaker 1: I was like, how much works? If we do zero,
- 16:59Speaker 1: is it still zero?
- 17:02Speaker 5: Yeah? Yes, Well, and they they don't do Creator Kids
- 17:07Speaker 5: as far as underware, nope.
- 17:10Speaker 4: So yeah.
- 17:11Speaker 5: There there is a lot of overhead in Altered, which
- 17:15Speaker 5: is honestly, it's it's very annoying sometimes to see the
- 17:21Speaker 5: kind of things people say, like, oh, why didn't Altered market,
- 17:24Speaker 5: Why didn't they blast this from the rooftops. I'm like, guys,
- 17:29Speaker 5: just because they are compared to the well, just because
- 17:33Speaker 5: you didn't witness it with your own eyes.
- 17:35Speaker 2: Yeah, it was still happening exactly.
- 17:38Speaker 5: I received so many ads for the game found and
- 17:42Speaker 5: some people are like, I only have a WhatsApp account
- 17:46Speaker 5: and log into Discord once in a blue moon, I
- 17:49Speaker 5: didn't see anything.
- 17:49Speaker 2: That's why you aren't getting any ads for it.
- 17:52Speaker 5: Yeah, so yeah, I don't want to.
- 17:57Speaker 1: That doesn't work right.
- 17:59Speaker 5: I can tell you that Altered has the Musubi, which
- 18:04Speaker 5: works on a lot of things behind the scenes, does
- 18:08Speaker 5: paid paid partnerships like with Moguai, does content creator partnerships,
- 18:17Speaker 5: like some of the cause players at conventions, does conventions
- 18:22Speaker 5: for specifically Altered, uh, and like Instagram, Twitter, they're not
- 18:29Speaker 5: as good at Blue Sky anymore, but they've post here
- 18:32Speaker 5: and there. YouTube. Could do more on YouTube, but it
- 18:37Speaker 5: is there, Like it's all there, guys. You just don't
- 18:41Speaker 5: like interact with it.
- 18:45Speaker 1: See, But the people that aren't being interacted with are
- 18:49Speaker 1: the people that need to be interacted with.
- 18:52Speaker 5: Well, they've got open their eyes.
- 18:55Speaker 1: Well, but the problem is it's not hitting it's not
- 18:57Speaker 1: opening their eyes, it's not hitting their feed right.
- 19:01Speaker 5: That's that in my opinion, that's their fault.
- 19:06Speaker 1: That's Altered's fault. Are the people following Altered's fault? The
- 19:09Speaker 1: people the people well, I would I would beg to
- 19:13Speaker 1: differ with you because unless you're looking.
- 19:16Speaker 2: At guarantee that ads are getting to all of your audience, sure,
- 19:21Speaker 2: how are you? How are you making sure it's getting everywhere?
- 19:24Speaker 1: You can't? Right, Like, there's no.
- 19:28Speaker 3: We're most of the ads going through though I know
- 19:30Speaker 3: Facebook like had a bunch of it, But what other
- 19:33Speaker 3: places that they're really through the ads too?
- 19:37Speaker 5: Yeah, So here you go digital advertiser insight. If you
- 19:42Speaker 5: didn't know, I have experience. So Facebook and Instagram are
- 19:49Speaker 5: owned by the same company, which is meta blah blah blah.
- 19:52Speaker 5: If you do a campaign on one, you get ads
- 19:55Speaker 5: on both, and honestly, it is by far are the
- 20:01Speaker 5: best place to advertise for the lowest amount of money.
- 20:07Speaker 5: I think I did see some banner ads here and
- 20:10Speaker 5: there on like YouTube and other sites. But if I
- 20:15Speaker 5: were consulting a company that didn't have millions in budget,
- 20:21Speaker 5: I would tell them just do meta campaigns because like
- 20:25Speaker 5: Twitter is garbage. I don't know very much about Reddit
- 20:29Speaker 5: to be honest, and like everything else, is expensive for
- 20:32Speaker 5: low return unless you set up like a retargeting campaign
- 20:38Speaker 5: with you know, a very specific platform.
- 20:43Speaker 2: That's funny guy trying.
- 20:45Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I remember where I saw alter for the
- 20:51Speaker 3: first time.
- 20:52Speaker 5: Yeah. So when I say that it's the people's fault,
- 20:56Speaker 5: I'm saying, like, you can't be surprised you didn't hear
- 21:00Speaker 5: about it if you're like the person who says, oh,
- 21:03Speaker 5: I don't have any social media's and I want to
- 21:05Speaker 5: go to this one place, like.
- 21:08Speaker 1: All right, I'll save you on that one. Yeah, I'll
- 21:10Speaker 1: save you on that one. That one I'll give to you.
- 21:13Speaker 1: If you're if you're just completely not on the internet
- 21:15Speaker 1: most of the time, then okay, fine, yeah you're not
- 21:18Speaker 1: going to hear anything because that's the world now lives
- 21:21Speaker 1: on the internet. But if you are on the internet
- 21:23Speaker 1: and you didn't see jack shit, well you know that's
- 21:28Speaker 1: now we've got.
- 21:32Speaker 5: You also have people like Dexter who have uh you know,
- 21:35Speaker 5: is on a altered podcast and said, wait, LGS orders
- 21:40Speaker 5: were due on this day.
- 21:43Speaker 2: I thought it was okay, I just had the wrong day.
- 21:47Speaker 2: I just had the wrong day.
- 21:48Speaker 4: And Prince of the Bowl is still there.
- 21:51Speaker 5: All right, I'm going to ask you a damning question
- 21:54Speaker 5: right now.
- 21:55Speaker 2: Oh no, what are we doing?
- 21:56Speaker 5: You do you have to be a corner entire muted?
- 22:02Speaker 2: No, I do not.
- 22:04Speaker 5: You get alerts for at mentions? Yes, so if I
- 22:09Speaker 5: tag at digital you get an alert for it.
- 22:12Speaker 2: Yes, I do. Then how did you not know? I
- 22:18Speaker 2: did know? I just forgot Okay, I thought it was
- 22:20Speaker 2: a different day.
- 22:24Speaker 5: So, I mean, you can only do so much. And
- 22:27Speaker 5: like people, how I try to answer that question is like, Okay,
- 22:34Speaker 5: where do you spend the most time? And they'll be like, oh,
- 22:36Speaker 5: I'm here, and I'm like, I hate to tell you,
- 22:39Speaker 5: but it was all over there. Maybe you just need to,
- 22:41Speaker 5: you know, make sure you're all better the account or something.
- 22:46Speaker 1: I mean, I saw it on Facebook. I saw it
- 22:48Speaker 1: all over Facebook, all over Twitter or x whatever it
- 22:53Speaker 1: is now.
- 22:54Speaker 5: Yeah, And to be honest, outside of all of that, like,
- 22:58Speaker 5: as a person who has had to use social media
- 23:01Speaker 5: for a long time for various reasons, I I fully
- 23:05Speaker 5: believe that like social media apps are just dead and
- 23:10Speaker 5: garbage and terrible for growth now, but they're also necessary.
- 23:16Speaker 5: So it's really hard. In in my opinion, the best
- 23:19Speaker 5: social media like this day and age is YouTube. But
- 23:24Speaker 5: back in the day, it felt like you could get
- 23:26Speaker 5: attention on Twitter and Instagram, but they've just like murdered
- 23:29Speaker 5: it so much.
- 23:30Speaker 1: Gotta have gotta have big titties to get noticed.
- 23:34Speaker 4: Done there.
- 23:36Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, So there's.
- 23:45Speaker 5: Uh, there's uh, there's.
- 23:46Speaker 2: I don't think so gus, I don't I don't think
- 23:49Speaker 2: they care about TikTok. Yeah, TikTok ads gonna see what
- 23:53Speaker 2: on TikTok, and that's probably gonna be expensive compared to
- 23:57Speaker 2: some other places.
- 23:59Speaker 5: I I do not know the like average CPMs and
- 24:03Speaker 5: stuff for.
- 24:03Speaker 2: TikTok forever since I've used TikTok.
- 24:07Speaker 5: So yeah, TikTok, though, I can tell you they do
- 24:13Speaker 5: post on TikTok. So yeah, I can go follow the account.
- 24:19Speaker 1: I watched TikTok every day, multiple times a day.
- 24:24Speaker 5: Yeah, you guys, so, I'm not sure I read the sais.
- 24:32Speaker 2: I prefer YouTube or listening to podcasts or music.
- 24:36Speaker 1: You listen to podcasts while you poop? Sure, that's odd.
- 24:43Speaker 1: I don't think I've ever listened to a podcast while
- 24:46Speaker 1: it's always TikTok.
- 24:50Speaker 4: Yeah, there's not wrong.
- 24:51Speaker 2: I'm playing b G.
- 24:54Speaker 1: That's dedication, right there, guy trying, that's dedication. I like it,
- 24:58Speaker 1: all right, I mean, now.
- 24:59Speaker 4: Number don't go up themselves true? True? Oh yeah.
- 25:04Speaker 5: Also I want to get altered in the top. Let's
- 25:09Speaker 5: let's shoot for top sixty of BGA this month.
- 25:14Speaker 1: Which is crazy to think how like how altered is so?
- 25:18Speaker 1: I mean you got to remember BG being in the
- 25:21Speaker 1: top one hundred of BGA. It's like it's kind of
- 25:24Speaker 1: a big deal, right yeah, And it's.
- 25:27Speaker 5: A top one hundred dexter.
- 25:30Speaker 1: Nice and yet like I don't know, I just I
- 25:33Speaker 1: still think two point five millions a lot, and that
- 25:37Speaker 1: is a little concerning for me. Again, I hope they're
- 25:39Speaker 1: more well, obviously I don't have a choice but to
- 25:41Speaker 1: be more transparent next time around, you know, I don't know, Yeah,
- 25:49Speaker 1: maybe maybe now that's less expensive artists, I don't know.
- 25:53Speaker 1: I don't I don't know where to make the cuts, right,
- 25:55Speaker 1: Like that's not my because I got to the artism
- 25:59Speaker 1: is part of the big price to this game.
- 26:02Speaker 4: Like the that you like a lot the are.
- 26:08Speaker 3: It's a good conversation to have, though I am curious
- 26:11Speaker 3: how much do they next to do artists charge for
- 26:14Speaker 3: the altered art?
- 26:16Speaker 4: A lot?
- 26:16Speaker 1: It's a lot next sets nothing picture, nothing but pictures
- 26:21Speaker 1: of Wookie.
- 26:24Speaker 5: So I don't think art will be a place that
- 26:27Speaker 5: there will be cuts, but there will be less alternate
- 26:30Speaker 5: arts because that's more expensive. But also there will be
- 26:34Speaker 5: more alternate arts because they have already commissioned. The art
- 26:38Speaker 5: for like seeds.
- 26:39Speaker 1: And well Seeds is done, but I'm saying going forward,
- 26:41Speaker 1: obviously they're gonna if two point five million is their goal, right,
- 26:46Speaker 1: And they had to extend it a week because at
- 26:48Speaker 1: the at the week mark we were coming up, but
- 26:50Speaker 1: they were like six hundred thousand, I think just just
- 26:53Speaker 1: a little over six hundred k.
- 26:55Speaker 5: The extension a week is like kind of a it's
- 27:01Speaker 5: true but also a mischaracterization. At the same time, they.
- 27:06Speaker 2: Just included the pledge manager exactly. Yes, stuff.
- 27:10Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 27:11Speaker 5: Yeah, some people were saying they should do what key
- 27:14Speaker 5: Forge did with the the clock extender. Oh yeah, yeah,
- 27:19Speaker 5: that was honestly, for those people that missed out, it
- 27:21Speaker 5: probably would have been a good thing called maybe your
- 27:25Speaker 5: question mark.
- 27:26Speaker 2: Yeah, come on, Wookie, you're on the key Forge podcast.
- 27:31Speaker 2: They extended the time by like three hours. Oh yeah answers.
- 27:37Speaker 1: Yeah, that was one time they didn't do that. They
- 27:39Speaker 1: don't do that normally.
- 27:40Speaker 2: Yeah, it was only for the last one.
- 27:43Speaker 5: Yeah, it's just a feature where if like someone backs in,
- 27:46Speaker 5: like the last ten minutes or a certain amount.
- 27:48Speaker 2: Or something extended.
- 27:50Speaker 5: Yeah, it kicks it an hour or whatever.
- 27:53Speaker 1: The first time they've ever done that they didn't do
- 27:55Speaker 1: that in the past.
- 27:57Speaker 5: Yeah, I think it is a fair feature to can
- 28:00Speaker 5: consider for the next game found. Hopefully it's not like
- 28:03Speaker 5: when a really popular streamer does an uncapped subbathon and
- 28:07Speaker 5: it just extends to the campaign by forty six days.
- 28:11Speaker 5: But you know, uh yeah, the you know where the
- 28:16Speaker 5: cut is going to be, uh, primarily the focus in
- 28:28Speaker 5: the United States.
- 28:29Speaker 4: So that is one that is one figure.
- 28:33Speaker 2: That was yeah, super.
- 28:36Speaker 1: The problem is that's what they need to focus.
- 28:39Speaker 2: I understands.
- 28:43Speaker 1: Sit down, Dexter. It's a yes and no no, right.
- 28:48Speaker 1: I understand from a business standpoint saying, hey, we're not
- 28:51Speaker 1: going to focus as much on the US because, let's
- 28:55Speaker 1: be honest, the US is not a place where it
- 28:58Speaker 1: has really flourished, right, I mean, Magic's King, right, I
- 29:05Speaker 1: Mean what's weird is last time, at this time, we
- 29:08Speaker 1: saw Altered being played at the Game Center while we
- 29:11Speaker 1: were while me and Dexter were there. This year, we
- 29:15Speaker 1: didn't see any It's all about the new hotness rift Bound.
- 29:20Speaker 4: Yep.
- 29:20Speaker 5: Which I think the problem with the United States is
- 29:26Speaker 5: since they are a French company and just you know,
- 29:31Speaker 5: the United States in general is I this is this
- 29:35Speaker 5: is just stipulation. I don't know this for sure, but
- 29:39Speaker 5: I would guess that it costs a lot more and
- 29:44Speaker 5: goes a lot less further in the United States, like
- 29:49Speaker 5: the amount of money they spent.
- 29:50Speaker 1: Do they need they need a United States production partner?
- 29:53Speaker 1: I might know a guy.
- 29:56Speaker 5: No, I don't think so.
- 29:57Speaker 1: No, they should already. They don't want to work with
- 30:01Speaker 1: old asthma day. I don't know.
- 30:06Speaker 5: Maybe maybe maybe, But like I know that they did
- 30:10Speaker 5: spend a lot of money trying to help the United
- 30:15Speaker 5: States and Canada market lat time. I don't know as
- 30:18Speaker 5: much as about because I'm not as close to it,
- 30:22Speaker 5: and I don't think it paid off as much as
- 30:27Speaker 5: they spent. Just like, for example, anytime they want to
- 30:32Speaker 5: do a convention, if they have, if they send over
- 30:36Speaker 5: Loki or someone like his trip alone you know is a.
- 30:41Speaker 1: Couple grand, it's just as good.
- 30:45Speaker 5: I mean, yes, fair uh. And then that doesn't even
- 30:50Speaker 5: include like booth prices and YadA YadA.
- 30:55Speaker 1: Just send over call and a guy trying and blue
- 30:59Speaker 1: and we're all right, you put on some damn parents.
- 31:07Speaker 5: I think the other thing is is I honestly think
- 31:10Speaker 5: I mean, and this could be a misconception. I think
- 31:14Speaker 5: the US stores burned Equinox a lot more than any
- 31:19Speaker 5: other stores.
- 31:20Speaker 2: How would how how so like like said they were
- 31:24Speaker 2: going to order and then didn't just.
- 31:26Speaker 5: Like dropping it entirely, And I mean, how much of
- 31:30Speaker 5: that can you blame?
- 31:31Speaker 1: I mean, the US stores are fickle bitches, right like,
- 31:35Speaker 1: they just like.
- 31:37Speaker 2: If they're not getting good profits, if they're not selling
- 31:40Speaker 2: stuff off the shell, they're going to drop it.
- 31:43Speaker 1: Magic is king here, man, And if you're shit, ain't moving,
- 31:47Speaker 1: Magic's got another seventeen sets they need to sell you.
- 31:50Speaker 1: So yep, you know it's It's one of those things.
- 31:53Speaker 1: Magic right now is is white hot.
- 31:55Speaker 4: Uh.
- 31:56Speaker 1: One piece is kind of fallen off. I have seen
- 32:00Speaker 1: I don't know if that's true all over the place.
- 32:01Speaker 1: This is just kind of near me. One Piece is
- 32:04Speaker 1: kind of fallen off. But Magic is still super hot,
- 32:07Speaker 1: Pokemon is still super hot, you get you know, the
- 32:09Speaker 1: Big Three as I call them, are still you know,
- 32:14Speaker 1: they're doing their thing. And it's just with the amount
- 32:16Speaker 1: of product Magic produces, which is utterly ridiculous. If I
- 32:21Speaker 1: if I were a Magic player, I'd be pissed.
- 32:24Speaker 5: But yeah, and a lot of them are actually but yeah,
- 32:33Speaker 5: this is uh stuff to back up exactly what you're saying.
- 32:36Speaker 5: So I think I've I've talked about it a couple
- 32:41Speaker 5: of times. I usually play in Dallas at common Ground Games.
- 32:47Speaker 1: Uh.
- 32:47Speaker 5: They decided after the message on Bloody Monday to revert
- 32:55Speaker 5: and not preorder the next set and just fund the
- 32:59Speaker 5: preorder they had, So we still have organized play as
- 33:06Speaker 5: I would assume the rest of this year, and then
- 33:09Speaker 5: they'll probably just cut it. But it's a store in Dallas.
- 33:13Speaker 5: It's a very good store, and they are usually very
- 33:17Speaker 5: popular on you know, each night for events, and I
- 33:24Speaker 5: think tonight is Avatar for Magic maybe, and so it's
- 33:30Speaker 5: taking all of the space in the store. So since
- 33:36Speaker 5: Altered didn't fire last night, we were one person short.
- 33:40Speaker 5: I was like, Okay, I'm gonna I'm gonna pivot and
- 33:42Speaker 5: I'm gonna do Riftbound on Friday. But it was sold
- 33:47Speaker 5: out and I found out it's because they had to
- 33:50Speaker 5: cut Riftbound down to sixteen players because Magic is taking
- 33:54Speaker 5: up the whole store, and they canceled like all other
- 33:58Speaker 5: like stuff entirely, like Star Wars Unlimited stuff like that.
- 34:02Speaker 5: So it's like, yeah, Magic is just eating everything.
- 34:06Speaker 1: Still you're not, Yes, Magic is just it's it's the
- 34:14Speaker 1: fucking machine. That's just as much as magic players are
- 34:17Speaker 1: again such fickle bitches, right because magic's dying every seventeen
- 34:21Speaker 1: seconds in magic players world, right, every time they don't
- 34:25Speaker 1: do something that one magic player doesn't like, the game's
- 34:28Speaker 1: dad and it's over. But it's just it's it's it's
- 34:33Speaker 1: a juggernaut that I just it's it. You got to
- 34:38Speaker 1: imagine at some point there's going to be fatigue, but
- 34:43Speaker 1: it's not today. Yeah, when that is, I don't know.
- 34:48Speaker 5: Yeah, to be clear, when I'm saying that, I think
- 34:51Speaker 5: there will be less of a focus on like an
- 34:54Speaker 5: a it. I think it really is just those things,
- 34:58Speaker 5: like there won't be a as much of a presence
- 35:01Speaker 5: at conventions unless they find out another good partnership, and
- 35:05Speaker 5: they won't be like actively pumping extra money into the
- 35:10Speaker 5: United States to try to like grow it here, which
- 35:14Speaker 5: I think is.
- 35:17Speaker 1: A good speaker and I'm I'm I'm a great hype man.
- 35:23Speaker 1: If I definitely won't just be hitting on uh Lura.
- 35:30Speaker 5: Yep, I'm glad you butchered the name, so no one
- 35:32Speaker 5: knows what you're saying. But if you if this this
- 35:35Speaker 5: is my this is my honest suggestion, I I know
- 35:39Speaker 5: people really want to play in person. And if that
- 35:45Speaker 5: is the type of person, oh ship am I gun,
- 35:49Speaker 5: no you're here. Okay, my computer blacked out for a second.
- 35:54Speaker 5: If you are the type of person that really, first
- 35:56Speaker 5: and foremost only wants to play in person, I think
- 36:00Speaker 5: one thing that goes a long way is coordination, Like
- 36:05Speaker 5: just tell people like you want to.
- 36:07Speaker 1: Play too, because remember I had brought up like clubs
- 36:12Speaker 1: and communities being able to get a hold of things, right, yeah,
- 36:17Speaker 1: because it's because it's the further you get from magic, right,
- 36:21Speaker 1: the further that the game store cares about you. It's
- 36:24Speaker 1: just the way, as much as it pisses everybody off,
- 36:27Speaker 1: it's just the short and skinny right, there's no way
- 36:29Speaker 1: around it. I mean that might be a thing that
- 36:34Speaker 1: they have to go to to, you know, keep op
- 36:38Speaker 1: going in the States here.
- 36:40Speaker 5: Yeah, and uh yeah, I think there's just a lot
- 36:44Speaker 5: of people that like are not vocal about wanting to play.
- 36:47Speaker 5: Like they'll show up and if it's playing, they'll play.
- 36:51Speaker 5: But sometimes it takes literally like just one or two
- 36:55Speaker 5: extra people to say like, hey, I want to play
- 36:58Speaker 5: this week or whatever at this store, were there to
- 37:02Speaker 5: be a playgroup.
- 37:04Speaker 2: Yes, I know, there just needs to be at least four,
- 37:07Speaker 2: and I'll show up for locals. But recently we haven't
- 37:10Speaker 2: even been hitting those numbers, so I'm just like, Okay,
- 37:12Speaker 2: I won't show up.
- 37:15Speaker 5: That you wanted, Dexter.
- 37:16Speaker 2: Yes, I know, I should be more vocal and be like, hey,
- 37:20Speaker 2: I want to show up.
- 37:21Speaker 1: I'll be there, like who's showing up? Let's do this? Yes,
- 37:28Speaker 1: I mean ship we even for even for key Forge,
- 37:30Speaker 1: and we have a local well, we have a local
- 37:34Speaker 1: private chat right where we're like, hey, who's I mean,
- 37:37Speaker 1: it doesn't matter if there's two or three of us, right,
- 37:40Speaker 1: It's about consistency when it comes down to locals, right, Yeah,
- 37:45Speaker 1: and what even if there's just two of you, fucking go,
- 37:48Speaker 1: who cares if the ship fires? Play some jam some games.
- 37:53Speaker 1: That's that's the biggest. That's the biggest thing I could
- 37:54Speaker 1: tell you is key Forge was legitimately me Jr. And
- 37:58Speaker 1: Dan at one point in time, and through just going
- 38:02Speaker 1: every week we brought you know, all of a sudden
- 38:04Speaker 1: we had mister Perfect join in, and then we had
- 38:08Speaker 1: then we had uh Pete join in. You know, you
- 38:10Speaker 1: just you keep gaining people because you're continuously there, right,
- 38:16Speaker 1: And it's you know, and hey, stores, I just want
- 38:20Speaker 1: to finish this thought real quick. Hey, don't be a
- 38:26Speaker 1: space monster, right, buy a soda, buy a deck, buy
- 38:32Speaker 1: something from your local lgs. Don't just take up their
- 38:35Speaker 1: space and then be like, well we're here, Like, give
- 38:39Speaker 1: your lgs a reason to keep you around. Right. Legitimately,
- 38:44Speaker 1: we play Sealed every single week, which means anywhere from
- 38:48Speaker 1: six to ten people are going to buy a deck
- 38:50Speaker 1: at fifteen dollars a plot. Plus we're going to probably
- 38:53Speaker 1: buy some sleeves, maybe we buy some soda, you know,
- 38:56Speaker 1: we buy stuff right to make sure. And then at our.
- 38:59Speaker 2: Store, whenever we run little tournaments, we all put in
- 39:03Speaker 2: five dollars for store credit, and then whoever wins gets
- 39:07Speaker 2: the store credit in second place gets a refund of
- 39:10Speaker 2: their store credit or whatever. Just a way to get
- 39:12Speaker 2: the store a few more bucks.
- 39:14Speaker 1: But just get get some a little bit, right, and
- 39:17Speaker 1: and not only that, make sure that they aren't stuck
- 39:21Speaker 1: with product. Mm hmmm, right, that's that's the biggest killers.
- 39:26Speaker 1: Once that ship hits the bargain bend, your game's done. Yeah, yep,
- 39:33Speaker 1: don't let it hit the bar.
- 39:34Speaker 5: Good uh good points. Indeed, uh. Some stores are very
- 39:39Speaker 5: strict about the you know, needing for people to fire.
- 39:42Speaker 5: But if it's like not a far drive for you,
- 39:45Speaker 5: it is a very good point to just be like,
- 39:47Speaker 5: if there's two of us, let's just go play and
- 39:49Speaker 5: you know, buy a couple packs or whatever and express
- 39:53Speaker 5: our interest to the store.
- 39:54Speaker 4: Ye.
- 39:55Speaker 1: And maybe that's the thay you play sealed and you
- 39:57Speaker 1: both buy six packs and you fucking just jam out
- 40:00Speaker 1: of your sealed games. Maybe have secondary account that's fake
- 40:08Speaker 1: that e losses.
- 40:11Speaker 4: Just play conquest at that point. There you go. I mean,
- 40:16Speaker 4: you got a six man tournament at that point.
- 40:21Speaker 5: That's funny. Jump just jump seats.
- 40:23Speaker 4: So exactly.
- 40:27Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 40:27Speaker 5: And one thing that I always suggest to people is
- 40:31Speaker 5: if you're not already in your regional discord, find it
- 40:35Speaker 5: and join it so that you can like coordinate and
- 40:37Speaker 5: be you.
- 40:38Speaker 1: Know, hey, here's a way to coordinate and be vocal.
- 40:42Speaker 1: Does Wisconsin have a original discord?
- 40:46Speaker 5: Let me tell you.
- 40:48Speaker 1: You find that out for me. I don't think I
- 40:52Speaker 1: went and looked for Sconson facebook page and that don't exist. Neither.
- 40:57Speaker 1: It doesn't exist SCons on Facebook. Oh you know, I
- 41:01Speaker 1: didn't search Reddit. I didn't do Reddit. I'm not a
- 41:04Speaker 1: big credit redditor.
- 41:08Speaker 5: I do not see one at first glance of Wisconsin,
- 41:11Speaker 5: but sometimes they are like combined. So like uh, I
- 41:19Speaker 5: think Utah, Idaho is all one server.
- 41:24Speaker 1: Could like Madison too, right, like Madison has their own
- 41:29Speaker 1: or it could be Milwaukee.
- 41:32Speaker 5: There's there's the DMV server, which is you know DC Maryland, Virginia.
- 41:39Speaker 5: Send a guy trying a bunch of hateful messages if
- 41:44Speaker 5: you want to know more about that server. So yeah,
- 41:47Speaker 5: if there's not a regional server, it is a very
- 41:52Speaker 5: big undertaking to start one. But if you are someone
- 41:56Speaker 5: who likes running a discord, you could always look about
- 42:00Speaker 5: doing that. It's how we coordinate everything in Texas.
- 42:03Speaker 1: What if you're somebody who doesn't like coordinating a discord
- 42:06Speaker 1: but your community needs.
- 42:08Speaker 2: More, then you won't be vocal and you'll never get
- 42:11Speaker 2: to play locals.
- 42:13Speaker 5: Hire me and I will create one for you, but
- 42:15Speaker 5: you have to pay me.
- 42:16Speaker 1: I'll hire you the total.
- 42:21Speaker 2: It's gonna have.
- 42:22Speaker 5: I the second the second part of what I'm gonna say.
- 42:28Speaker 5: The physical only players are not going to like, but
- 42:33Speaker 5: it is a reality play more online. If you get
- 42:40Speaker 5: used to it, it is amazing. And I used to
- 42:43Speaker 5: be a turn based game hater I was like, why
- 42:46Speaker 5: would I ever want to play a game over like
- 42:48Speaker 5: three days? But now I have like eight going all
- 42:52Speaker 5: the time, and it's great. There are even turn based tournaments.
- 42:56Speaker 5: There's a there's a tournament every day.
- 42:59Speaker 1: I love. Yeah. I tried to get you to play
- 43:03Speaker 1: the other like I'll do a turn base that. I'm like,
- 43:05Speaker 1: the while such a short game, why would we do
- 43:10Speaker 1: turn based?
- 43:11Speaker 5: Like it's great, it's great telling you.
- 43:15Speaker 1: I guess I can't knock it because I already am
- 43:18Speaker 1: not an online player, Like, let's do online turn Base.
- 43:21Speaker 1: I'm like, hey, maybe I should just slam my Dick
- 43:23Speaker 1: with a hammer, and then I like that neither.
- 43:28Speaker 5: Yeah, this this episode is turning into like the real
- 43:32Speaker 5: the Real Ship episode or whatever, but so uh, we
- 43:36Speaker 5: will probably talk about it more in another episode. But
- 43:39Speaker 5: a wall is shutting down.
- 43:42Speaker 4: So the.
- 43:44Speaker 5: Monday and Wednesday tournaments and like everyone's like, oh my god,
- 43:48Speaker 5: we should create, you know, a new tournament on Wednesday
- 43:51Speaker 5: and Monday, and we should create all these new tournaments
- 43:53Speaker 5: and make sure people support them and blah blah blah.
- 43:55Speaker 2: And I'm like, we already have so many tournaments that
- 43:59Speaker 2: already exist. Let's let people play in the ones that
- 44:02Speaker 2: are already there instead of trying to spread things more thin.
- 44:06Speaker 5: Yes, So I told them, I was like, I'm gonna
- 44:08Speaker 5: be honest, there is not the amount of players and
- 44:12Speaker 5: support to really justify replacing the Wednesday tournament, which is
- 44:18Speaker 5: the like North American time zone is what we call it,
- 44:23Speaker 5: And I mean there's ACE every Tuesday and we get
- 44:26Speaker 5: like just barely over twenty players.
- 44:28Speaker 2: Yeah, twenty people.
- 44:30Speaker 5: Why would I want to go and like dive right
- 44:35Speaker 5: back into another tournament if there's not enough players. So
- 44:40Speaker 5: what I told everyone is I was like, how about
- 44:43Speaker 5: if you guys get ACE on Tuesdays to start filling up.
- 44:47Speaker 5: I do think replacing the Monday tournament is good because
- 44:50Speaker 5: that usually always hits CAP and I think people want
- 44:53Speaker 5: a tournament at that time on Monday. Well, good, we'll
- 44:57Speaker 5: do that. Well, if you want more things and you
- 45:02Speaker 5: want you know, them to be around, you have to
- 45:05Speaker 5: support them. So people in the United States, if they
- 45:11Speaker 5: really want the game to continue and to grow, you
- 45:16Speaker 5: you just have to like support the online tournaments and
- 45:22Speaker 5: stuff that are already there because the people that are
- 45:26Speaker 5: making those for that time zone are doing it. Because
- 45:29Speaker 5: people keep saying that they need to happen.
- 45:32Speaker 2: But then and then they are.
- 45:34Speaker 5: People don't show up. Yeah, so more people play online,
- 45:39Speaker 5: coordinate online, you know, join the tournaments. I'm gonna get
- 45:43Speaker 5: better about making sure all of the online tournaments are
- 45:46Speaker 5: on Altered Corner dot com as well. And then if
- 45:51Speaker 5: the North American like time zone tournaments start filling up,
- 45:57Speaker 5: then maybe we'll do another Wednesday want Yah?
- 46:03Speaker 2: All right, yep, sounds good. I agree with all the
- 46:06Speaker 2: things you just said.
- 46:10Speaker 1: We did go into the ship show on this show,
- 46:14Speaker 1: we were already.
- 46:15Speaker 2: Were we gonna get a little bit back on track
- 46:17Speaker 2: and talk a little bit of the things we originally
- 46:19Speaker 2: planned this. Let's let's go for the game timeline stuff.
- 46:23Speaker 1: Nope, not at all.
- 46:27Speaker 5: Well, I mean this is this is a whole episode
- 46:30Speaker 5: in itself. Do you want me to speed run it
- 46:31Speaker 5: for you?
- 46:32Speaker 1: No, I That's exactly what I was trying to say,
- 46:34Speaker 1: And Dexter's just set it forth. So Dexter, maybe you
- 46:38Speaker 1: should run the show. Maybe that's no, I don't want that,
- 46:42Speaker 1: I'm sure. Yeah, all right, cool, all right, yes, so
- 46:47Speaker 1: let's go through a little bit of the campaign timeline. Dexter,
- 46:52Speaker 1: this should be old hat to you, my man. You've
- 46:55Speaker 1: done this before, right, a couple of times, you know
- 47:00Speaker 1: how to use your pledge manager.
- 47:02Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, that's already over but yeah.
- 47:05Speaker 1: I know, but I'm just.
- 47:08Speaker 5: If you if you click on the link for the
- 47:10Speaker 5: thank you message, it has the actual like pledge manager
- 47:15Speaker 5: and how it's going to work for this campaign. If
- 47:17Speaker 5: you want to go over that, or if you want
- 47:20Speaker 5: me to go over it for you real quick.
- 47:21Speaker 1: Yeah, go over the timeline here what we got real quick?
- 47:26Speaker 4: All right?
- 47:27Speaker 5: So since they did, you know, keep the normal campaign longer,
- 47:34Speaker 5: ate up the pledge manager. So what the the pledge
- 47:38Speaker 5: manager in quotes will be now is for the next
- 47:41Speaker 5: two weeks they're going to review all the orders and
- 47:44Speaker 5: process back or payments. Some people took that as it
- 47:49Speaker 5: was going to take two weeks for them to be charged,
- 47:51Speaker 5: but they were charged today. That just means there will
- 47:54Speaker 5: be cases where people's cards are declined, some banks like
- 47:58Speaker 5: take longer. Some people might cancel blah blah blah.
- 48:02Speaker 1: They used to mine is guilty of that, or they're like,
- 48:07Speaker 1: what's this extraordinarily large charge and they just like kind
- 48:10Speaker 1: of they'll be in touch with you, let's put it
- 48:13Speaker 1: that way.
- 48:14Speaker 4: Yep.
- 48:15Speaker 5: So it just gives enough of a window to allow
- 48:17Speaker 5: all that to happen. But your card was probably charged
- 48:20Speaker 5: today for either your first stretch pay installment or the
- 48:23Speaker 5: full amount, depending on what you did.
- 48:25Speaker 2: So after that saw anything, Yeah.
- 48:29Speaker 5: They will open the Pledge Manager, which is just going
- 48:33Speaker 5: to be you're able to provide your address and pay
- 48:37Speaker 5: details for shipping fees, YadA YadA, and that will open
- 48:42Speaker 5: December first and close December eighth. And once the Pledge
- 48:46Speaker 5: Manager details are secured, they will lock down the final
- 48:50Speaker 5: print run numbers and move fully into the logistics phase
- 48:54Speaker 5: of printing, shipping to regionable regional hubs, and then final
- 48:58Speaker 5: delivery for the set will be in February m.
- 49:04Speaker 1: So then the big question is when does the next
- 49:06Speaker 1: game found start?
- 49:09Speaker 5: Yeah, that is an interesting question.
- 49:11Speaker 2: A few months away.
- 49:13Speaker 5: Yeah, I think you could do like some kind of
- 49:16Speaker 5: manuary with surgery to find out, but I did not
- 49:21Speaker 5: care enough to do it. What is really interesting though,
- 49:25Speaker 5: is everyone is all like, oh, you know, altered is
- 49:29Speaker 5: only fine for this next set or whatever, but now
- 49:31Speaker 5: we have to worry about the next This next.
- 49:34Speaker 2: Set still quite a few months away.
- 49:36Speaker 5: Yeah, that takes us seven months out, so still a
- 49:40Speaker 5: good amount of time with just.
- 49:41Speaker 1: This, but not the game.
- 49:46Speaker 5: Right confused, But yeah, I'm just saying, like we're in
- 49:53Speaker 5: November now, we have Skybound Odyssey, which we're still in
- 49:56Speaker 5: that season. Sky Bound Odyssey season will end in February,
- 50:00Speaker 5: where we will get Seeds, and then we'll have seeds
- 50:03Speaker 5: for four months. So even if hypothetically there's no set
- 50:08Speaker 5: after seeds, we still have like seven day seven more
- 50:13Speaker 5: Altered no matter what, at.
- 50:14Speaker 2: Least because then there's the whole season with seeds too.
- 50:19Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, yeah.
- 50:23Speaker 2: Altered will be around for a while. We're good. We
- 50:26Speaker 2: don't need to worry right now.
- 50:29Speaker 4: We can.
- 50:30Speaker 2: We can start worrying again once the next game found starts.
- 50:34Speaker 1: I'm worried right now. But that's me.
- 50:37Speaker 5: Yeah, uh do we I mean, I guess we talked
- 50:42Speaker 5: a lot about like supporting and what uh you can do.
- 50:48Speaker 5: And it's not just me like coming and being like
- 50:51Speaker 5: you need to support the things we do. It's like
- 50:53Speaker 5: people were legitimately, you know, trying to find things and
- 50:58Speaker 5: asking like how they could help and blah blah blah.
- 51:00Speaker 5: It's it's been really nice to see like the initiative
- 51:04Speaker 5: of people wanting to support Altered content and wanting more
- 51:10Speaker 5: and seeking it out, like I saw a lot of
- 51:12Speaker 5: people joining Discord to find it, asking about it in Discord.
- 51:17Speaker 5: So if that, if that keeps up, just in general,
- 51:20Speaker 5: it'll go a long way for the game. So if
- 51:24Speaker 5: you like a video, or you like this podcast or something,
- 51:29Speaker 5: leave a comment, you know, ask a question. All of
- 51:32Speaker 5: that kind of stuff helps.
- 51:34Speaker 1: Nobody likes.
- 51:37Speaker 5: Nobody, they like, they like what I have to say.
- 51:40Speaker 1: So they told me, yeah, you.
- 51:44Speaker 2: Have the best information. We're all just kind of here.
- 51:47Speaker 2: I'm just super invested.
- 51:49Speaker 1: I'm just here. I'm here, man, I'm just I'm.
- 51:52Speaker 2: I'm you're leading the show.
- 51:56Speaker 1: But you know, I finally had something to bitch about,
- 52:01Speaker 1: like it was a good week. Like here you go.
- 52:06Speaker 5: You you have a comment for you guys. I like
- 52:09Speaker 5: Rookie Dexter and Felix. I wish those three had a
- 52:11Speaker 5: podcast together. Maybe you guys should think about making one.
- 52:19Speaker 5: I think, Felix, I think you should do a podcast
- 52:24Speaker 5: where you teach these two capra.
- 52:28Speaker 4: I didn't do that at school. Every once in a while.
- 52:30Speaker 1: Teach me like the little yep, the little teacher. Yeah
- 52:36Speaker 1: that little little squirrel sounds like rodents. I don't know
- 52:42Speaker 1: what they are.
- 52:44Speaker 4: Coffee brows.
- 52:44Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, So The only other thing that I think
- 52:50Speaker 5: we didn't really touch on that I had in the
- 52:53Speaker 5: original notes was the the new like push on Board
- 53:00Speaker 5: Game Geek. You can I think it's been out there
- 53:04Speaker 5: a while, but it hasn't really been like used, and
- 53:10Speaker 5: a lot of people started using it. So if you
- 53:12Speaker 5: like the website Board Game Geek, you can go ahead
- 53:16Speaker 5: and do whatever you do on the website with altered
- 53:21Speaker 5: There's been like new forums created, images, added videos, people
- 53:26Speaker 5: are leaving reviews of each set, things like that, and
- 53:30Speaker 5: it had a lot of really good success this last week, honestly, so.
- 53:37Speaker 1: I'm not Hotelly.
- 53:41Speaker 5: Been waiting for the Lawyer for like three episodes.
- 53:45Speaker 2: I can read it for you, Wookie.
- 53:48Speaker 1: Oh shit, that's fucking more, all right, fine, read.
- 53:51Speaker 2: It, yay, Okay, let's do this. Because of her artificial nature,
- 53:57Speaker 2: she served as a model for the faction's first autumn
- 54:00Speaker 2: Automata prototypes. Frankenstein leads me back to the furthest Reacher's
- 54:06Speaker 2: reaches of the Athenore, the research and development area of
- 54:10Speaker 2: the foundry. He opens a door and turns on the
- 54:13Speaker 2: workshop lights, revealing a slender shape with an ivory sheen.
- 54:17Speaker 2: She looks like a porcelain doll with skin riveted with
- 54:19Speaker 2: gold and blue interlacing. I approach the two idoloons. Frankenstein
- 54:25Speaker 2: was created with my construct, but the same can't be
- 54:27Speaker 2: said for the one he had. He has called Copelia.
- 54:31Speaker 2: She looks at me with her enamel eyes while I
- 54:33Speaker 2: walk around her, my can, my cane clacking on the
- 54:36Speaker 2: dusty floor. How does she manage to stay alive? As
- 54:40Speaker 2: if she had anticipated my question? She opens a compartment
- 54:43Speaker 2: on her chest. Inside beats an expertly crafted mechanical heart
- 54:47Speaker 2: that gives off a smell of mana. Her heart contains keylon.
- 54:52Speaker 2: That is how she can stay anchored in reality. I
- 54:55Speaker 2: turned to Frankenstein and away from the pulsing device. By
- 54:59Speaker 2: using this technie, we could stabilize idolons in the world
- 55:03Speaker 2: for longer, like the Muna managed to do. I shake
- 55:07Speaker 2: my head, speechless at all the possibilities this seems to
- 55:09Speaker 2: open up. But this only works because Coppelia is a
- 55:13Speaker 2: mechanized creature. Other idolons couldn't accommodate this technology. Naturally, I
- 55:18Speaker 2: size rationality abruptly intrudes on my fascination. Coppelia closes her
- 55:23Speaker 2: compartment and smiles at me. The workshops, lights glinting on
- 55:27Speaker 2: her ceramic skin. Though she moves jerkily and clicks like
- 55:30Speaker 2: a puppet, she has a certain grace, almost like a ballerina.
- 55:34Speaker 2: In different circumstances. I might even have allowed myself a
- 55:38Speaker 2: little danced with her, but my legs prevent that kind
- 55:41Speaker 2: of thing. And then we have the inspiration is Coppelli
- 55:45Speaker 2: is a ballet dancer from a three act ballet of
- 55:49Speaker 2: the same name by Arthur Saint Leone based on E. T. A.
- 55:54Speaker 2: Hoffman's short story called The Sandman. Never heard of that play,
- 55:59Speaker 2: but looks like there's lots of lore stuff going together here.
- 56:03Speaker 2: Coppelli is a mechanical doll that Frans, the main protagonist,
- 56:06Speaker 2: falls in love with to win him back his fiance
- 56:09Speaker 2: Swanhilda dresses up as Coppelia and makes it appear as
- 56:12Speaker 2: if the doll has come to life. In the original story,
- 56:15Speaker 2: she is called Olympia and she has brought to life
- 56:17Speaker 2: through alchemy, and the narrator is traced from three hundred
- 56:20Speaker 2: and ninety one after the cataclysm A.
- 56:24Speaker 5: So you want to know something really interesting about this? Yeah,
- 56:29Speaker 5: I was having a debate in the main server with Shoot,
- 56:37Speaker 5: what's their name wild Card or whatever. They're super active
- 56:41Speaker 5: super Axiom fanboy, and I don't think they had actually
- 56:46Speaker 5: like read the lore because I was having a debate
- 56:49Speaker 5: about how Frankenstein's monster is in the game already and
- 56:55Speaker 5: it's Capellia.
- 56:57Speaker 2: Yeah, Coppellia is Frankenstein's monster exactly.
- 57:00Speaker 5: I'm glad that you've picked up on that because the
- 57:03Speaker 5: people were like not really getting what I was putting down.
- 57:07Speaker 5: Because if you listen to the first part of what
- 57:10Speaker 5: you just read, it says that the other construct is
- 57:15Speaker 5: not like really the same as Capellia. So if you
- 57:19Speaker 5: look at doctor Frankenstein's card, there is you know, like
- 57:23Speaker 5: another Automatron constructor or a construct of some sorts, but
- 57:28Speaker 5: it sounds like it's not really like living.
- 57:33Speaker 2: And Copelia is is living because she is an idol
- 57:37Speaker 2: on too maybe.
- 57:39Speaker 5: Yeah, and was created by Frankenstein. Now, further interesting thing
- 57:46Speaker 5: is there might be more than one Frankenstein's Monster in
- 57:52Speaker 5: the game. Yes, maybe we'll read it in the future.
- 57:56Speaker 5: I don't want to give you too many spoilers.
- 58:00Speaker 4: But.
- 58:02Speaker 5: If you go read the Lawyer for Doctor Frankenstein and
- 58:07Speaker 5: then read the Lawyer for Podu, that's what I'll.
- 58:11Speaker 2: I mean maybe even the monster in the card hooked
- 58:14Speaker 2: that little automaton there could be made by Frankenstein. Yeah,
- 58:18Speaker 2: the axiom guy's got lots of little robots.
- 58:22Speaker 5: Yeah yep, but yeah, read the Lawyer for Doctor Frankenstein
- 58:27Speaker 5: after this, and then read it for Podu, and then
- 58:30Speaker 5: you'll see and hear some very weird and interesting things.
- 58:35Speaker 5: And if you missed us reading the story of Little
- 58:38Speaker 5: match Girl, I read it and talked about it on
- 58:43Speaker 5: stream today and then one of my viewers sent an
- 58:47Speaker 5: animation for Little match Girl. If you want to have
- 58:51Speaker 5: your heart broken, do that. And for the people in
- 58:57Speaker 5: the live chat right now, I will link you the
- 59:02Speaker 5: animation and you can watch it.
- 59:04Speaker 4: Nice.
- 59:04Speaker 2: So yeah, now we all get to be sad together.
- 59:08Speaker 3: Yeah, just wanted to show recently that they also made
- 59:12Speaker 3: reference in the Little match Girl.
- 59:14Speaker 4: I forgot what show that was.
- 59:17Speaker 5: Oh yeah, I don't know it is. It's a very
- 59:20Speaker 5: sad story.
- 59:21Speaker 4: I've been Dragon Rajah.
- 59:25Speaker 5: I could tell you what episode Little match Girl was
- 59:27Speaker 5: on if you really wanted, but it would take me
- 59:29Speaker 5: a second.
- 59:30Speaker 3: Oh no, no, I'm thinking I was watched the show
- 59:32Speaker 3: on TV just recently and Little match Girl came up
- 59:35Speaker 3: as well. I think it was Dragon Roger love to remember.
- 59:40Speaker 5: Yeah, well no, no Patreon questions. So if you guys
- 59:46Speaker 5: have Patreon.
- 59:48Speaker 2: Some questions, give us some new topic ideas stuff to
- 59:51Speaker 2: talk about.
- 59:53Speaker 3: Yeah, Rookie, who still there?
- 59:57Speaker 1: May?
- 59:59Speaker 3: I think my the gig starter for Imagination is shipping out.
- 1:00:04Speaker 3: I should be receiving mine pretty soon.
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: Okay, nice Magi Nation. You have no idea, man, mamagin
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: Nation was the ship back of the day. Yeah, I
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: like imaginations.
- 1:00:21Speaker 2: I've never heard of it.
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: Never heard of Imagination.
- 1:00:26Speaker 2: I'm sure I've heard of it, but I don't know
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: anything about it. I've never heard of those.
- 1:00:31Speaker 4: One of those podcasts have to make.
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: Yeah, somebody somebody did ask us to like go in
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: depth about like some of the old card games that
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: we used to play. I don't remember what that was,
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: but it was a while ago. Somebody said we should
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: do it. Maybe we'll do like a Patreon episode on
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: it because it was funny.
- 1:00:53Speaker 5: Yeah, I've always thought it would be funny to do
- 1:00:56Speaker 5: a like April Fool's episode where we just do an
- 1:01:00Speaker 5: episode like it was, you know what we've been doing
- 1:01:03Speaker 5: the whole time. But it's something entirely different than Altered.
- 1:01:06Speaker 5: So if you're listening to this episode, maybe you'll get
- 1:01:10Speaker 5: the inside like uh actually happens? Yeah, exactly Before we

- 1:02:37Speaker 2: would say WAU back in the old days. But you
- 1:02:40Speaker 2: know he's done for every time hold the place nice
- 1:02:44Speaker 2: in my heart, every time.
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: That drink that he's not supposed to because he's underage.

- 1:04:56Speaker 5: a tournament organizer and want to be on there, it
- 1:05:00Speaker 5: actually helps me if you coordinate with me, because then
