- 0:15channel by watching and listening.
- 0:37We hit the ball. I promise you one thing, we're
- 0:39going to hit somebody and we're taking downfield.
- 0:41Protect him, I guarantee you that.
- 1:05Good morning ladies and gentlemen.
- 1:08You're watching the final time out.
- 1:11You're a military broadcast radio, your veteran supported
- 1:17sports show. We have officially reached the
- 1:24the the best time of the year, the best like I think 2:00, the
- 1:30three-week stretch of sports where we are going to have every
- 1:35day we're going to have a little something going on.
- 1:40Yeah, we've got postseason baseball still the wrap up.
- 1:42Our World Series match up is set at the WNBA Finals or two games
- 1:48into that. The NFL season is reaching.
- 1:52It's Week 6. We're in the Week 8 of the
- 1:55college football season coming up this weekend.
- 2:00The NBA is finally back. The NHL has been going for a
- 2:04couple weeks now and pretty soon we're going to get some college
- 2:08hoops back here. So it's just there's a lot of
- 2:12action. There's going to be a lot of
- 2:13action going on. We're we're here for it all.
- 2:19But we're going to get right into it with a little MLB talk.
- 2:26The World Series matchup is set. I got to say I'm pretty excited
- 2:31for this one. And we got the Tampa Bay Rays
- 2:33versus the Milwaukee Brewers. This is a good, good thing to
- 2:41see for the sports, though. Maybe some of these small market
- 2:46or small market low payroll teams can still get to the World
- 2:50Series. I know the analytic nerds of
- 2:55them will be a really, really like this one.
- 2:57These are two teams. They're just fat kind of found a
- 3:00way to play some some bully ball.
- 3:02They got it. They get it really done with
- 3:04great pitching and a defense. I mean, there's obviously
- 3:11there's some good hitters on each of these teams, but I mean,
- 3:15they're going to just beat you by making plays, stealing bases,
- 3:19making great outfield defensive plays and not giving you a ton
- 3:24of opportunities to put runs on the board.
- 3:28Even a lot of they they get runners stranded on bases.
- 3:34So I mean, almost started with Milwaukee pulling off the sweep,
- 3:39getting their revenge on the Dodgers.
- 3:44I was a really awesome series to just watch a lot of heart from
- 3:53those guys as well. I in Milwaukee, man, like just
- 3:59from Yelich and Anchurio Contreras trying some of the
- 4:03bigger stars that like a guy like Jake Bowers who I mean was
- 4:08going to retire from the MLB and is now out here winning the
- 4:12NLCSNVP. He was just monumental in this
- 4:19game. I mean, the biggest reason why
- 4:22Yamamoto got yanked after three, his 12 pitches that he he took
- 4:30against Yamamoto that that duel right there, that battle let do
- 4:36a little bit of a spiral for for Yoshi couldn't get out of it.
- 4:39How they get yanked early. Dodgers had to go to their
- 4:41bullpen. Game 2, Blake Snow, who was
- 4:46pitching a really good game up until Bowers got up against him
- 4:54in the 6th or in the 7th rather was he was having himself a
- 5:02great game. I mean he had like 9 KS in this
- 5:05one and then they had they end up pulling, they ended up having
- 5:11to pull him because he got that the the two run home run shot.
- 5:17And I think that really after throwing all those pitches
- 5:20against one guy, he immediately comes out, throws just another
- 5:24meatball down the middle that gets sent off for another home
- 5:30run. That was Mitchell.
- 5:34I mean, right after that too. So getting some, I mean some of
- 5:38the guys at the bottom of the order that were giving the
- 5:42pictures of LAA lot of problems. Even what I find interesting.
- 5:49What's that? Is that, you know, when your
- 5:53team is really good in the state, let's say like hockey or
- 5:58or football or basketball, like it, it's our season, right?
- 6:02Like if they're really good, people pay attention more to
- 6:06baseball than they than they do anything.
- 6:10And I wonder if that's the reason why I just not care for
- 6:15baseball, because the Rockies just, they're just, they're just
- 6:20not that good. No, they they, they're terrible.
- 6:23They are. They are.
- 6:25And I've part of the reason is, yeah, they don't spend a lot,
- 6:28but I Milwaukee, I don't know the payroll numbers off the top
- 6:32of my head, but I know they're not like one of the biggest
- 6:34spenders. I mean, they kind of cheaped out
- 6:37at the deadline when they came to getting Tyree School, but
- 6:40they still managed to find a way to get here.
- 6:43They play the analytics game. And then like I said, it's just,
- 6:49I mean, you're getting great effort out of all these guys.
- 6:52And look, I mean, they're not going to blow you away by like
- 6:56hitting, you know, six or seven home runs every game, right?
- 7:01They'll get, you know, they'll get one or two read sometimes,
- 7:05but they notice it's, it's the they're, they're super
- 7:08productive when they get on base.
- 7:11They get they're able to get hits, they're able to get
- 7:14runners around the base. And yeah, they're just well
- 7:19coached so. But if, if OK, so I know that
- 7:24Major League Baseball is different than the NFL because
- 7:27NFL has like a cap thing and the Major League Baseball doesn't.
- 7:33What I'm everybody keeps on saying it's a it's a money grab.
- 7:37It's a money thing. But I don't understand that
- 7:41since they all go through the same draft.
- 7:46Well, the, the, the salary cap plays more into free agents when
- 7:51you've, you can pay guys however much you want.
- 7:56The teams that are willing to spend more are just naturally
- 7:59going to get better players because they can just, they'll
- 8:03just throw more money at them. And the players are obviously
- 8:06going to probably take the bigger contracts and especially
- 8:10if it's a good situation. Right, but you know, we're we're
- 8:14we're we're talking about like the draft, like, you know,
- 8:17rookies and stuff like that. Like I don't I just don't
- 8:21understand how they can use that argument.
- 8:24It it it's it's about money when they go through the same draft.
- 8:29I I I think with the. With the draft, I mean, you, a
- 8:33lot of prospects aren't going to play a ton of Major League games
- 8:39for you right away. You know, there's so a lot of
- 8:42these guys are going to be in the minors and on in your, your
- 8:45farm system, Whereas when you're buying free agents, those guys
- 8:49are proven commodities. You've, you've seen what they
- 8:52can do in Major League games And you know, if you're willing to
- 8:56spend more money on them, you know, teams like LA do just have
- 9:01a, an inherent advantage because they have a, a super expensive
- 9:03payroll. And I didn't pay off for them
- 9:06this year because they they just went, they just really went cold
- 9:13out their bats and the postseason.
- 9:15So what's the difference between the Cubs?
- 9:17Because Cubs, I know it's been a couple of years.
- 9:20I don't really follow baseball. It's been a couple of years.
- 9:23But you know, they won the World Series.
- 9:26So like, are the Rockies compared to them or not even
- 9:32close? I would just.
- 9:36I don't think it's the same thing.
- 9:40The Rockies are also just very poorly managed at any time.
- 9:44We do have good prospects. Those players usually just end
- 9:50up getting treated. You know, they don't really.
- 9:54They're just bad at building a foundation.
- 9:57And it's already hard enough to get good pitching up here cuz
- 10:02pitchers don't like pitching up here.
- 10:04It's it's a lot harder to do do that in you know, you just can't
- 10:09get your pitches to to break the same way or the right the ball
- 10:13doesn't come out your hand the same way just cuz we.
- 10:15We have, we have no, what's that called?
- 10:19We we have no advantage being here in Colorado, unlike
- 10:25football. Yeah, it's almost more of a
- 10:27disadvantage. Right, exactly.
- 10:29Whereas every other sport, yachts, it's more of an
- 10:32advantage because you're getting fatigued as the game goes on.
- 10:37Which is not to say that doesn't happen in baseball, but yeah,
- 10:42it's it's just it's harder to pitch up here and a lot easier
- 10:46to hit home runs. That's it's the same reason why
- 10:49there isn't actually a pro tournament for the PGA is you
- 10:53just the the club difference up here for the pros is just that
- 10:59much bigger like that. They can, it just they feel like
- 11:03they wouldn't be that competitive because everyone
- 11:06would have such a great such a big club advantage.
- 11:14All right, jumping over to Game 4 where they pulled off and
- 11:19sealed the sweep force in LA to kind of get into the the bullpen
- 11:29a bit here. Tyler Glasner only making it 4
- 11:32innings. You got some great innings.
- 11:40Dorian only made it the one inning, but you had Dustin May,
- 11:45Romero, Ashby all pitch 2 to 3 innings.
- 11:49And really May didn't have the the best inning he had to get
- 11:55bailed out, but Romero and Ashby were phenomenal.
- 12:00Ashby just really sealed the deal for him and this was 1 you
- 12:06I didn't think I thought it was going to be incredibly difficult
- 12:09for Milwaukee to pull off this sweep and it looked like, you
- 12:13know, OK, the Dodgers are going to get one.
- 12:15They have a four run second inning, including a Shohei Otani
- 12:25Homer. Ended up being a three run home
- 12:30run shot with two on base and you know Milwaukee is in a four
- 12:38or nothing hole for a few innings and then at the top of
- 12:43the fourth they get two more. They get two runs, they get two
- 12:48more in the 5th, add another in the 6th and then one more in the
- 12:55ninth just for good measure. That was the I think the the
- 13:05most impressive thing about this whole series is just whenever LA
- 13:13made a play, Milwaukee was able to answer.
- 13:18And again, I look at some of these guys at the bottom of the
- 13:21order. Hamilton, you know, getting
- 13:25scoring twice had two RB is in the home run powers with three
- 13:31RB is in this one again, Mitchell another home run like
- 13:36they're getting they're getting just great again.
- 13:38It was just great activity from the bottom of the order to get
- 13:42them to get these runs and get this games, these games sealed
- 13:49up. So the Milwaukee was like it
- 13:53wasn't like they necessarily dominated any game for a long
- 13:57portion of it, but every time their backs got against the
- 14:01wall, they just started playing their best ball.
- 14:05And they'll be they'll be bringing that into the World
- 14:08Series up against a Rays team that finished off this series
- 14:16incredibly strong. They they got into a hole, man.
- 14:22They were down to the one in this series that dropped one at
- 14:28home gave up seven runs in the in game one against Cleveland
- 14:35and we're down after three two loss in game three.
- 14:40How did it really dig in and and try to even the series on the
- 14:43road in Cleveland? They did that with A7 run game
- 14:48in Cleveland took it down the guardians 7:00 to 3:00.
- 14:57You just had, you know, guys like Nick Martinez pitching a
- 15:02great game. Seymour almost he got almost
- 15:10sold it for them there. He had a he had a tough, tough
- 15:13one inning that he was in there. But then like Kelly Boozer come
- 15:17in, came in there to help Dale him out.
- 15:22On the flip side for Cleveland, I mean, this was I didn't really
- 15:25expect them to even make it past their their, their by they
- 15:31didn't always play their best baseball this season, but we
- 15:35could. You definitely saw the what they
- 15:37were able to, what they could have been capable of.
- 15:41And I think they they just Tampa Bay just got it going at the
- 15:47right time. They got really hot.
- 15:50Their outfield defense was incredible in this one.
- 15:58Mesa, DeLuca, those guys and Caminero and this whole this
- 16:06whole series, those guys just kept like making play after
- 16:10play. Game 5 was a really just a an
- 16:17absolute pitching master class out of Drew Rosamund.
- 16:26This was, I think the best pitch game by any pitcher this entire
- 16:32series. Only one run given up over 7
- 16:38innings. He had six KS, didn't really
- 16:43walk anybody, only four hits total.
- 16:47Just set up a lot of really easy outs for his team, opportunity
- 16:52to use for double plays, things like that.
- 16:56So, yeah, I mean, he was, he was just locked in and it just, the
- 17:01Guardians could never really get any like get any momentum going
- 17:07off of their bats in this one. Then Game 6 back in Tampa, a
- 17:18chance to seal it in front of their home fans.
- 17:23And they did it emphatically. And you know, Cleveland, after
- 17:31getting up to a 5 to 1 lead, Cleveland did bring this back to
- 17:37a 5/2. It was a disastrous inning in
- 17:42the in the eighth, you know what I mean?
- 17:462 two runs basically walked in with the bases loaded, but they
- 17:51were eventually able to get out of there.
- 17:55It was it was Kelly that came in after both Wells and Seymour
- 17:59really struggled in that one and he got got a strikeout on the
- 18:09final out there. And then you come back out and
- 18:15after what was really a tough top of the 8th, the way they
- 18:18answered and just extended the lead, the Caminero home run to
- 18:26bring it back up to A2 run advantage.
- 18:29I mean, Tampa Bay just got they got a lot of energy in that
- 18:35place. I'm I'm just really stoked to
- 18:38watch this match up. I mean, both of these both of
- 18:42these teams have really just been like it's just digging deep
- 18:47and and within in every aspect defense I've seen from both
- 18:51teams phenomenal. I love like when they get guys
- 18:55on base. I mean, Tampa was fantastic
- 18:59stealing bases in this. Well, I don't think I think they
- 19:01were successful in every stolen base attempt.
- 19:04I don't believe Cleveland got them one time and then they had
- 19:11just enough power and some big moments to get some big time
- 19:15home runs and just really put some an exclamation point or a
- 19:21stamp on a lot of these games. So that brings us to game one of
- 19:27the World Series is going to be this Friday night, Tampa Bay
- 19:31versus Milwaukee. It's going to be in Milwaukee
- 19:36for for game one. It's going to be AI can see this
- 19:43being a really close series. I'm going to go with the Brewers
- 19:49in seven. I think Milwaukee's just got,
- 19:54they're going to be, I think they've got the better pitching
- 19:56staff ultimately, while the Rays are, I think a better hitting
- 20:02team overall, I think Milwaukee, I like their pitchers.
- 20:06They're pitching more and I can see them that being the, the
- 20:11reason they win. But I, I think we get a, we get
- 20:14a six to seven game series minimum.
- 20:18And I mean, these are two, I mean, they were the best teams
- 20:21and they're respected. Divisions or conferences all
- 20:27year and then in both their championship series, they really
- 20:33showed all their their, their true potential.
- 20:35I think both teams are coming in playing their best ball of the
- 20:39year. So it we're we, it's good for
- 20:42us. We're in for a treat.
- 20:45And it's two teams that are playing for their first ever
- 20:48World Series championship. The first of all, I believe
- 20:54Milwaukee. I'm not much of a baseball
- 20:56historian. They might have won one in 82.
- 20:59I know that's the last time they were they've been, I don't know
- 21:01if they've they won that one if they lost.
- 21:04If you know a little bit more about baseball history, let me
- 21:07know in the comments there. But yeah, it's it's a lot of
- 21:12exciting stuff and I can't wait to see it all.
- 21:17We're going to shift gears quickly down.
- 21:19We're going to jump on over to the WNBA.
- 21:28We're two games into the WNBA Finals, the season almost out of
- 21:33wrap here. Game one, we saw the Valkyries
- 21:38come out on top in the defensive effort.
- 21:42This was, this is a bit of a sloppy game from both teams, I'm
- 21:46not going to lie, not the best shooting from anyone.
- 21:49I mean, it's it's game one of the finals.
- 21:51Obviously there's a lot of nerves.
- 21:52I mean, the the atmosphere, the the environment, it's just it's
- 22:00a lot on everybody. And you could tell the teams
- 22:05weren't really, there was a lot of impatience.
- 22:09There was a lot of not settling in in this one.
- 22:14In fact really the only player that looks like her usual self
- 22:19and was and pretty confident was Gabby Williams who had a game
- 22:23high 26 points and this one and even then she shot 8 of 22 from
- 22:28the field. In three of 11 neither team shot
- 22:31better than 33% from the field and the Valkyries 21% from 3 was
- 22:38the for the better team shooting the the Trey ball.
- 22:41So while, you know, 20 turnovers combined between each team, we
- 22:51had players get making plays on defense, you know, 55 steals and
- 22:59five blocks as a team for the dream.
- 23:01But this was exactly, this was Golden State's game.
- 23:05You know, they're they were never really an offensive
- 23:09juggernaut the the season, but you get a low scoring game like
- 23:15this where you let them just play the defense you and then
- 23:19put the ball in some of the playmakers hands like Gabby
- 23:23Williams, Tiffany Hayes, he's not off the bench even though
- 23:28she was. She had a really rough go on
- 23:31this one. But yeah, 7 steals, 10 blocks as
- 23:36a team, they were pretty dominant on the boards again,
- 23:44winning with this a + 6 rebound differential.
- 23:47They're getting double digit offensive boards again, so
- 23:50missing a lot of shots, but getting a lot of second chance
- 23:54point opportunities. And they did they they got this
- 23:59victory despite, you know, losing the free throw battle by
- 24:046. So a lot less.
- 24:07They only knocked down about 70% of their free throws in this
- 24:10game. So even though they got less
- 24:12opportunities up the line, they were able to just make the most
- 24:15out of what they got in the field.
- 24:18Got up a few more shot attempts. Yeah, not it was it was gritty,
- 24:25it was defensive. You just didn't see a lot of the
- 24:30best ball out of anybody there. That's, that's just something
- 24:33especially with two teams now they're playing for their first
- 24:36ever WNBA Finals championship there.
- 24:41I mean, there's a lot of there's, there's a lot of
- 24:42pressure there. You see this a lot.
- 24:45You can see this a lot in a lot of championship sports where
- 24:48they have, it's a series where like the game one like neither
- 24:51team. You're just so amped up, you're
- 24:55so ready to go that sometimes everyone comes out not playing.
- 25:01It just looks it's not a clean product from everybody.
- 25:04You're not playing your basketball.
- 25:07We definitely saw Atlanta settle in and be more of themselves in
- 25:11Game 2. And Angel Reese was the dominant
- 25:16factor in this one. She had her fingerprints all
- 25:19over this game. Her two way impact just cannot
- 25:23go unrecognized. I mean, she she won that.
- 25:32I mean, it felt like she almost won this game single handedly
- 25:36for Atlanta, which I mean, there were there were some points
- 25:41where their offense wasn't playing the best in the first
- 25:45half and she was really just anchoring it down a 30 point
- 25:52double double for her. She had 30 points, 16 rebounds,
- 25:572 blocked shots and a steal in this one, but she didn't do it
- 26:01all along. Jordan Canada the guard 13
- 26:07points for their 10 assists or was an offshooting night for her
- 26:10three of 14, but they're play making still top tier.
- 26:16Like Ryan Howard didn't do a whole lot of scoring.
- 26:18Only five points getting active on the defensive end. 6 steals
- 26:23for Ryan and then Dewana Bond her off the bench only 9 points
- 26:28for for her, but four steals. They had ten of the dreams 14
- 26:34steals in this one. Those two were just taking the
- 26:38ball away at A at such a great rate.
- 26:43And then Alicia Gray finally looks like she's coming back
- 26:46from that injury was and getting comfortable.
- 26:49She missed most of the series against they played the the the
- 26:55Liberty sat on the bench with an injury.
- 26:57She's back in the lineup 18 points in this one went seven of
- 27:04eight from the line. One thing I guess it's
- 27:07impressing with Angel through this postseason is she's been
- 27:11getting fouled a lot because she has it wasn't a great free throw
- 27:14shooter in the regular season, but she's been lights out so far
- 27:18in the postseason and she shot 9 of 11 in this game.
- 27:22Atlanta just pressing the pressing the action, putting the
- 27:29pressure on the Valkyrie's defense.
- 27:32This is where they they they got into some trouble because they
- 27:35weren't getting, you know, all the turnovers, the steals that
- 27:40the the dream regenerating. You got this, this team's out
- 27:45and running. You're getting a lot of fast
- 27:46break opportunities. Angel was being super aggressive
- 27:50when she got her post touches trying to score and you know
- 27:56with how physical Golden State likes to play, when you kind of
- 27:59get them speed up like this, they foul a lot more and we saw
- 28:03that to the tune of 35 three throw attempts for the dream.
- 28:10This is why I think Atlanta can win this series.
- 28:13They're like they've shown this time and time again the
- 28:17postseason when they get their their defense, just especially
- 28:21the their steals and when they're they're getting active
- 28:26causing turnovers, they're so good at at just intercepting
- 28:30passes and generating fast break opportunities.
- 28:35I think that that kind of plays against Golden State's strength,
- 28:40which is, you know, they want to slow the game down, force you to
- 28:43run your offense in the in the half court.
- 28:46And when they can't do that and they get speed up, they still
- 28:48want to bring that physicality. But you're just getting a lot of
- 28:52opportunities at the line and the dream made the most of it
- 28:57going 30 of 35. Like they haven't shot the three
- 29:02ball well at all. I mean, they're up over 20% this
- 29:06game, but still below 30. They're just generating points
- 29:10off of turnovers and they're just they're being aggressive
- 29:14when they when they get the opportunities and and just
- 29:19really putting kind of using Golden State's defensive
- 29:23strengths against them. It was a good it was a coaching
- 29:27master class. I mean, they were Atlanta also
- 29:32has a really good defense. And we saw that when they only
- 29:34gave up nine points in the third quarter.
- 29:40And now the single player on the Valkyrie scored more than 14
- 29:43points. They can kind of completely took
- 29:49Kia Stokes out of it in terms of scoring.
- 29:51She did have 11 rebounds in four blocks.
- 29:53Yeah, Gabby Williams was 3 of 15.
- 30:00And this one, not something like that, not in the area that
- 30:05Golden State wants to be in. So now we've got Game 3 shifting
- 30:10back to Atlanta here, a big chance for the Dream to really
- 30:16seize momentum in this series, get a 2121 series lead.
- 30:22A lot of pressure on Golden State to try to steal one on the
- 30:26road. You just don't want to have to
- 30:29be coming back home down 3 to one in this series.
- 30:33So there's a ton of pressure on the Valkyries to try to get the
- 30:37road victory here. We'll see.
- 30:41I mean, it's been a very evenly matched series so far.
- 30:45Game one, the Valkyries got to play their brand to basketball
- 30:49and it led to a four point win. Game 2, Atlanta really forced
- 30:55the Valkyries to play to their speed, their brand to basketball
- 30:59and Atlanta got the 14 point victory.
- 31:01So whoever can get the whoever can kind of seize control of the
- 31:08pace of the game really has has really had the best chance at
- 31:11winning it. So as you're watching these
- 31:16these games and as you're going through that first quarter into
- 31:20the halfway through the 2nd, pay attention to the what the the
- 31:24pace is, you know, and and is it changing?
- 31:27Is it, is it going, is there are they playing faster or is each
- 31:31possession slow using a lot of the shot clock that'll give you
- 31:34probably have a good idea and who's going to come away with
- 31:36that victory? If you can pin pinpoint how the
- 31:40pace of play is going to be in that one, I think I still got
- 31:45the I still got the dream in 6. I feel like Golden State gets
- 31:51gets one more, but Atlanta they just got just has more more
- 31:58talent and the ability to speed up is is going to be better at
- 32:04at dictating the pace of play and playing their their style of
- 32:09basketball should be a good should be a great series.
- 32:13None the last few more games to go in this one.
- 32:16All right, we've reached the top of the hour.
- 32:18I'm going to go ahead and hit a music break.
- 32:23When we come back. We're going to take a look at
- 32:26the NBA opening night, how the season over there.
- 32:30Take a look at some of those matchups here and I can give
- 32:32some predictions for how the season is going to go as well.
- 32:36Way too early predictions. Why not?
- 32:38Let's do it. So stay tuned.

- 32:58MV Radio dot US. We're back.
- 33:06All right, We are back. Ladies and gentlemen.
- 33:09You can store one there. Yeah.
- 33:12Watching the final time out here in military broadcast radio.
- 33:16We just talked to some women's hoops.
- 33:18Oh, men's hoops is back in action.
- 33:21We had three games yesterday to open our season.
- 33:26The Knicks were hanging their banner, but the new look
- 33:30Philadelphia 76ers stole the show.
- 33:35The new look Boston Celtics new newly acquired Paul George
- 33:42turned back the clock a little bit, but it wasn't enough to
- 33:45stop a fourth quarter frenzy out of the Pistons as they come away
- 33:49with the victory and the Thunder got their revenge for last
- 33:54year's Western Conference finals.
- 33:56They take down the San Antonio Spurs 116 to one O 4.
- 34:01We're going to go to our first game of the day.
- 34:03That was the Celtics versus Pistons, one of our first tour
- 34:09dates of the season. Jayson Tatum shooting 6 of 23 O
- 34:14of seven. Not something you want to see if
- 34:17you're a Celtics fans. He was supposed to be the the
- 34:19primary guy. But yeah, Paul George got
- 34:23turning back the clock in this 138 points, 5 rebounds, 3
- 34:30assists and five steals. He's made 7, 3 pointers.
- 34:38I think Paul might be a good fit on the Celtics.
- 34:41I don't think Tatum's going to be this bad shooting every game.
- 34:47He has come away as a facilitator.
- 34:49He had 11 assists in this one so found some other ways to maybe
- 34:55impact the game, but the Boston just was went cold down the
- 35:02stretch in this one. There really isn't any other way
- 35:04to to put it didn't make a lot of the didn't make a lot of
- 35:08their shots. And then yeah, they were out of
- 35:11looked out of set defensively. This this Pistons team looking
- 35:17to be very good again. The Durham Cunningham pick and
- 35:22roll a lot of fun to see back a sorry Thompson, his defensive
- 35:29impact. He's still he could be a ADPAY
- 35:31candidate. Yeah, he played some really
- 35:34great defense in this one. Had 11 rebounds as well. 11
- 35:39points for him being super impactful.
- 35:46Javonte Green off the bench for for Detroit with 19 points in
- 35:51this one. This was a it was impressive how
- 35:57the, the Pistons, I mean the, the way they just took control
- 36:01of this thing in the fourth quarter.
- 36:04Cade was fantastic. All of it with his decision
- 36:07making. He did have 5 turnovers in this
- 36:10one, but those were all early, like in the fourth quarter.
- 36:13I would feel like he played an almost perfect game making,
- 36:17finding the right guys and and being aggressive and scoring
- 36:20when he needed to. Just a balance attack, 22 from
- 36:23Cade, 22 from Jalen, 21 from Duncan Robinson.
- 36:28We'll take that. 21 points from Duncan and five threes.
- 36:30That's exactly what they're looking for from him and Detroit
- 36:36looking to be very good. While it didn't end well for the
- 36:40Celtics, I think they're going to be a really good team.
- 36:43I honestly think Paul George is a really good fit for them as a
- 36:47secondary, sometimes primary scorer.
- 36:50Tatum's having an off night. Mitchell Robinson, quieter game
- 36:55from him. I think he got banged up so he
- 36:57didn't play a ton of minutes and we saw names CUDA in the game a
- 37:03little bit more than him. But if Robinson can stay
- 37:06healthy, he's just rebounding and rim protection presence
- 37:09really helps them defensively. Derek White, I mean he's just a
- 37:15great all around player, obviously great defender, but
- 37:20he's really just come along and he's still just looking great,
- 37:24better and better as as an offensive player as well,
- 37:27scoring 17 in this 18 assists. So he's really rather than the
- 37:31point guard position. Well, and I guess I mean they
- 37:35got some snipers off the bench with Sam Houser, Peyton
- 37:38Pritchard, obviously Baylor Shireman, the second year man of
- 37:42the Creighton. I really liked what I saw from
- 37:46him and some late late in the year last year.
- 37:49I'm interested to see how he builds off of that.
- 37:53So, yeah, it is just one loss in 82 game season that the Celtics
- 37:59kind of let's slip through their fingers.
- 38:03It's going to happen. All right.
- 38:05Banner night at the Garden. It was a special scene there.
- 38:10A lot of hype from the hometown crowd.
- 38:13Special, special moment. The Knicks had gold numbers on
- 38:16new jerseys. But that new look 76ers with
- 38:21LeBron James and Jaylen Brown teaming up with Joel Allenby and
- 38:24Tyrese Maxi could be a This would be a dangerous team if
- 38:32they can stay healthy. And that is a big if with Joel
- 38:35Embiid on aging LeBron James and even a Jaylen Brown.
- 38:42I like some of their depth with Kentavious Caldwell, Pope
- 38:46Anthony, Simon, Anthony Simon's, Simon's Oh my goodness coming
- 38:52off the bench. Bona is, I think a serviceable
- 38:56backup for Embiid. Man, when they were out there,
- 39:02the like the rim protection even from guys like Tyrese Maxie.
- 39:06Maxie had three blocked shots in this one along with Joel Embiid,
- 39:12LeBron, Maxie and Bead Brown. I mean, all of their started is
- 39:17recorded as steel and this one you've got I mean they can
- 39:25they've got like multiple dudes that can guard one through 5 on
- 39:30any given night, which I think is a is a luxury.
- 39:34LeBron. He's 41 years old and still
- 39:39looks like a really great player in this league.
- 39:42You know, maybe not near where he is prime, but how to how to
- 39:46throw down Oop. He's really just embraced, you
- 39:49know, being like a tertiary score on this team.
- 39:53I mean even like the fourth option he only had 14 but doing
- 39:59other things. 99 rebounds, 7 assists.
- 40:03Still a great playmaker with the ball in his hands.
- 40:06Blocked a shot. Got a steal in this one as well.
- 40:09A couple of athletic finishes. A great pull up jumper to go
- 40:14along with the the oop that he had there and bead.
- 40:20Only Kwai came from him with only 13 points. 11 boards.
- 40:24Jaylen Brown with the 19 Tyrese Maxi.
- 40:28With all this, I think if this starting five stays on the court
- 40:33a lot this year, Tyrese smacks. He's going to be in MVP talks.
- 40:36He has just the ability so much freedom and he's seeing a lot
- 40:42less double teams and it just gives him a lot more
- 40:45opportunities to operate with the ball in his hand because
- 40:49there's just you can't it's hard to to leave some of these other
- 40:53guys and to bring help to Maxi. And we saw in this one he had 28
- 40:58points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals and three blocks.
- 41:03He was phenomenal. There's a lot of question marks
- 41:10just with this team regarding how they can how they'll look if
- 41:13they can stay healthy. But what this is I think without
- 41:17a doubt the best starting five in the league if they're all
- 41:20healthy. The I mean, the to shut down a a
- 41:27very an off a team like the Knicks are can be very
- 41:30high-powered offensively and held into just 100 points.
- 41:34Jalen Brunson, yeah, kind of got into that.
- 41:41I mean, it looks good when the shots are going down, but he can
- 41:43be a bit of a shot shucker. And this one, it was like 6 and
- 41:4619 to only score 21. All right, yeah, they shut down
- 41:56Mikhail Bridges. They didn't get a ton of it was
- 42:00just hard for the Knicks to score the ball.
- 42:02I think this will they'll still be a very good team.
- 42:04They're always not like the greatest regular season team.
- 42:07But then, you know, they went to the conference finals and won
- 42:09the finals again. So they've got some good depth.
- 42:12I love Andre Drummond. That's another guy who's he's
- 42:17getting up there and Despite that is still playing basketball
- 42:21at a pretty high level. So weren't able to get the
- 42:24victory on banner night. But they'll be all right.
- 42:29Philly, a lot to be excited about.
- 42:31I thought the team can stay healthy and then we go to the
- 42:34West, which might be the worst division, the the worst
- 42:37conference in or the worst of the two conferences in the NBA
- 42:42this year. I think the East just got a lot
- 42:44better. The Thunder on the road, getting
- 42:48their revenge 116 to one O 4 Wendy apps.
- 42:55I don't know what it was. Maybe it's a hangover from the
- 42:58offseason. Terrible showing from him 12
- 43:03points. Ten of those came at the line.
- 43:05He was one for 13 from the field and even then he still wasn't
- 43:14like that in this 113 boards, 6 blocked shots, one steal.
- 43:19He's still he's probably going to win DPOY again, just with his
- 43:28ability to just erase the shots at the rim.
- 43:33So and he's not going to I don't think he'll be that bad scoring
- 43:37just a very off night from him unfortunately, because it was,
- 43:40you know, on the prime time NBA game.
- 43:43But these these things happen. Stefan Castle, Devin Harper.
- 43:51I cast a goal in the year 3, Harper into year 2.
- 43:55Just two absolute home run hits on back-to-back odds.
- 43:59I mean, easy to do when you're drafting in the top 10, but you
- 44:02know, sometimes you can still see the get the wrong guy.
- 44:06But 24 out of Castle, 18 out of Harper.
- 44:11They both had 7 rebounds as well.
- 44:16Nandi Aaron Fox 6:00 and 9:00 from the field 14 seven and
- 44:21seven the the three guard look, it's going to be interesting.
- 44:28I obviously they lost this game, but I think it's going to work
- 44:31as long as Wendy doesn't have as poor of a shooting performance
- 44:34as he does. Then I I it was really working
- 44:37out. I mean they didn't really get
- 44:40it's not like they lost on the boards or anything.
- 44:43I mean, Wendy's were able to pick up a lot of that sack, but
- 44:45all all three of your guards still recorded 7 rebounds.
- 44:49You'll take that. I mean, that's, that's pretty
- 44:51good there. We got to go back over.
- 44:54We're going to go over to the funder.
- 44:59I mean, right now I'm thinking about who's going to be the
- 45:01best. The one seen in the West.
- 45:03It's between these two. OKC looks like they've got the
- 45:06blueprint to do with again, Shay, did you know, only only
- 45:11four attempts at the line, Crazy.
- 45:14And he still dropped 32 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals,
- 45:213 blocks. So what's annoying about this
- 45:24guy? Like this was just a a pure
- 45:26hoops game out of shake. He wasn't doing a lot of foul
- 45:29baiting. I mean he was just the mid.
- 45:31He was there great finishes around the rim.
- 45:34He was playing phenomenal defense and the only shot 44
- 45:42free throw attempts also knocked down 33 pointers as well.
- 45:46Like they're just out there playing hoops and it as much as
- 45:51I hate to say it, it was actually kind of and it was
- 45:53entertaining to watch. As much as I hate this team,
- 45:57they just got to let like they're they're not that bad of
- 46:02a team to watch when they aren't doing the foul baiting crap it.
- 46:06So it's so frustrating about them.
- 46:08I digress though, Jared McCain, my front runner, I think for six
- 46:13man of the year, 22 minutes and 20 points.
- 46:17Yeah, he's he's just an offensive spark plug for them
- 46:21out there. His three-point shooting so
- 46:23dangerous. Young Chet Holmgren, 14 points.
- 46:29He got 4 blocked shots in this one.
- 46:32Got to talk a day, Mara. God, did they hit on another
- 46:37center? I mean that the rotation of
- 46:38bigs, it's just insane with Chet I heart and now Mara.
- 46:46He stuffed Wendy at the rim on the block shot fun.
- 46:52They just you just think like, can they continue to be so
- 46:56dominant and look so good and continue to get all these great
- 47:00draft picks and they just keep doing it?
- 47:02Was it just year after year? Sam Presti got to tip your tip
- 47:08your cap to the guy. All right, so I'm going to just
- 47:12drop some some predictions here. I'm going to go early MVP
- 47:24favorites. Shay is going to have to be up
- 47:28there. I'm going to Jokic will probably
- 47:32be in the conversation. I'm putting Tyrese Maxi in
- 47:36there. I'm going to put Luka Doncic as
- 47:39well, and then while I want to say Victor Wimbunyama, I'm going
- 47:47to instead throw in a bit of a dark horse and say Anthony
- 48:00Edwards. Maybe not be wouldn't be the
- 48:02craziest thing, but I think the Timberwolves could be very good.
- 48:06DPLYI think you're going to Wembley is going to probably be
- 48:10your front runner. I like Kumari from the Blazers.
- 48:19He he'll be in the conversation for sure.
- 48:23Chat Homegrown Definitely me. Bam on the bio 1st as well and
- 48:38Scotty Barnes. Throw Scotty Barnes in there as
- 48:41well. Come back player of the year.
- 48:45I mean who? I don't know if I can give you 5
- 48:49comeback players of the year. Tyrese Halliburton I think is
- 48:52just the obvious one, especially if the Pacers make the playoffs.
- 48:58I don't think who else is maybe coming back.
- 49:05Anthony Davis can stay healthy for a lot of the season, him or
- 49:09Trey Young. Neither one of them really
- 49:10played a lot last year. Kyrie Irving I got if he comes
- 49:15back and Dallas is super successful, I would have to say
- 49:18Kyrie Irving, rookie of the year.
- 49:21Who do I think is going to be the rookie of the year?
- 49:23Honestly, the Jazz have a solid team.
- 49:29I think Darren Peterson would be my favorite just because his
- 49:34team could be pretty successful and he would be.
- 49:37I think he would be a big part of that.
- 49:40I'm going to throw Debansa in there cuz he's just got such
- 49:43elite offensive upside and his he's just so athletic.
- 49:49You just got to imagine he's going to be dangerous.
- 49:57I want to give a shout out to Cam Boozer.
- 50:00I don't think I'm not, I don't think he's going to be a
- 50:03finalist, but I think he'll be. He's going to have a really good
- 50:05season. I'm going to throw Caleb Wilson
- 50:09in there from the the Chicago Bulls.
- 50:15I think he's going to look really good.
- 50:20Give me give me Darius Acuff again.
- 50:24I just love the the guy's potential as a scorer.
- 50:29He's got great handles. He's a really good facilitator.
- 50:32I mean, and he's going to probably touch the ball a lot in
- 50:36Sacramento. And then who am I between?
- 50:46Give me me Keaton Waggler on the Clippers.
- 50:54Not a lot to look forward for, but I, I like Waggler again,
- 50:58he's just he's a very versatile player that I think the Clippers
- 51:01can use in a lot of different ways.
- 51:05Again, super athletic. I like what I saw from him and
- 51:09in his his scoring ability in the preseason.
- 51:13He's got great lengths. So he should be a solid
- 51:15defender. Can throw throw him in there.
- 51:20So there's some some predictions for you for the NBA season.
- 51:23We're going to go ahead and do another quick break for like 45
- 51:27seconds and then when we come back, we're going to jump into
- 51:30college football and NFL. Stay tuned.
- 51:34I've decided that the AP poll is garbage and decided to just make
- 51:38my own rank. So you're going to want to stay
- 51:40tuned to that. See what H GS top 25 is.
- 51:44Don't go anywhere. You're watching the Final Time
- 51:46out here in military broadcast radio, but.
- 54:59The station Going back, ladies and
- 55:19gentlemen, for watching and military broadcast radio, it's
- 55:27time to chalk a little college football.
- 55:35What an awesome week we had of college ball man.
- 55:39That's and it's something I say this was kind of a heavy heart
- 55:44because I I feel that now with a 24 team playoff potentially
- 55:51looming, a week like this in the future is just going to be
- 55:56nothing. Whereas I mean this this week is
- 55:59going to have just massive implications across the board
- 56:06and in the future might not, but we saw tons of upsets and
- 56:10phenomenal matchups here. One down what went down in the
- 56:15top 25. We'll start will work our way up
- 56:18from 25 the the Wildcats had to go in East Lansing, MI.
- 56:24We're in the middle of a dog fight with the Spartans.
- 56:27It's tough place to play though, to be fair.
- 56:29But they're able 11 points in the fourth quarter.
- 56:33They're able to come out of there and get a 24 to 21 win.
- 56:37The revenge game for Aidan Childs is a success.
- 56:40Maybe didn't have the game he was hoping for but does come
- 56:44away with the victory and that one.
- 56:50Elsewhere, SMU taking on Virginia.
- 56:55Kelvin Jennings tosses 2 touchdown passes and SMU comes
- 57:01away with a 23 to 13 win over Conference fro Virginia at Wake
- 57:10Forest is our next ranked team that had a match up.
- 57:13They were at Cal and they went into they went across the
- 57:17country, Carolina to California and dominated.
- 57:22The Golden Bears just slapped in 41 to 7.
- 57:27Gio Lopez tossed 4 touchdowns. They did this without their top
- 57:35receiver. Carlos Fernandez was out with an
- 57:41injury in this one. Guys been phenomena.
- 57:45He's been one of the best, one of the best wide receivers of
- 57:48college football. Didn't have them, didn't matter.
- 57:52220 and two touchdowns on the ground as well.
- 57:55Yeah, 2267 and 4 touchdowns for Lopez, all Demon Deacons and
- 58:02this one some next ranked match up.
- 58:10This was a top 25 match. Top 20 match up between Oklahoma
- 58:15State and Houston Cowboys. Had to go into Houston, take on
- 58:23a very good Cougars team and be a little nostalgic for the old
- 58:27Big 12. A good old fashioned Big 12
- 58:30shootout. Not as high scoring as some of
- 58:31those Big 12 games, Scott, but 35 to 32.
- 58:36The Cougars come out on top in both quarterbacks despite each
- 58:42having an interception. Both teams got good defenses.
- 58:45You'd expect the defenders to make some plays.
- 58:49World lights out they were. They were phenomenal.
- 58:53This one. There was a great QB dual Mesta
- 58:55Maker through for 365 and three touchdowns.
- 58:58Connor Wayman through for 343. He had five touchdowns.
- 59:02Wayman also accounted for 52 yards on the ground, must make
- 59:07her 34 for his team. So I'm both of these guys were
- 59:11doing a doing a lot for their offense, generating a lot of lot
- 59:16of yardage, good old fashioned QB dual.
- 59:21And then each guy, the number one target was put up a big stat
- 59:26line. Caleb Hawkins had 7 grabs for
- 59:281:25 in the touchdown. Mari Thomas said I'm going to
- 59:32out. Do you do 7 grabs for 1/26 and
- 59:34two touchdowns? Trent Walker also recorded 7
- 59:39grabs, 101, four yards and touchdown for the Cougs.
- 59:46Yeah, this was this is one of those games where it was like
- 59:49the last team to kind of have the ball was going to get it or
- 59:52the last team really got to drive.
- 59:54That was that was Houston, Oklahoma State just was playing,
- 1:00:02trying to play catch up with them for a lot of the game.
- 1:00:07And it was a it was just a 1 great defensive quarter from
- 1:00:10Houston help seal the deal where they they shut out Oklahoma
- 1:00:15State in the second quarter, took a 14 to 3 lead in the half
- 1:00:19time and despite 29 second-half points from the Cowboys just
- 1:00:25wasn't quite enough. To get the victory over here,
- 1:00:30Houston looking better and better and this was a good
- 1:00:36signature when they're only loss on the road to a pretty good
- 1:00:40Texas Tech team. They've got a massive game
- 1:00:44coming up this week now at Utah, but this was a phenomenal.
- 1:00:51It was a fun game, a lot of fun to watch.
- 1:00:55All right, moving along in the rankings, we had another top 20
- 1:01:01matchup, LSU playing Mississippi State.
- 1:01:05This one kind of turned ugly though, because Mississippi
- 1:01:07State backup quarterback was in he did not have a good go of it.
- 1:01:12The Tigers got 31 to nothing shut out.
- 1:01:18And it's I mean, this will count as a ranked victory for LSU, but
- 1:01:24they got some, they got a fake couple of fake ranked victories
- 1:01:27on here. I mean, this was a a banged up
- 1:01:30Mississippi State team. And then their victory against
- 1:01:36Texas A&M, like A&M has just continued the spiral and look
- 1:01:43worse and worse. So do I think this was Miss
- 1:01:47Mississippi State would have made this a more competitive
- 1:01:49game if Camario Terrell wasn't hurt?
- 1:01:51Absolutely. But he wasn't there.
- 1:01:56You got a home, Vic 30, a home shut out on a team with their
- 1:02:00backup quarterback. Sam Levitt was great in this
- 1:02:04one. They put the ball in his hands a
- 1:02:07lot. He delivered with four
- 1:02:08touchdowns. All right, Kentucky going into
- 1:02:11the in the Sooner Nation to play.
- 1:02:14Oklahoma, tough place to go and play, especially with how good
- 1:02:19Oklahoma's defense is. The Wildcats found a way to get
- 1:02:23it done, 14 fourth unanswered points in the fourth quarter and
- 1:02:29they come away with a 21 to 13 victory.
- 1:02:38Moving right along as well. UCLA was on their backup
- 1:02:44quarterback. Did a good job of managing the
- 1:02:47game and just kind of a defensive win for them.
- 1:02:53Weren't they able to generate a lot with their offense?
- 1:02:5617 to 7 over Wisconsin. But you know a trap game where
- 1:03:01you're missing your starting quarterback?
- 1:03:03This is a sneaky good Wisconsin team.
- 1:03:06The defense that didn't leave a lot up to up to the bait really
- 1:03:10shut down the Badgers and picked up the slack with the injured
- 1:03:14offense. Got that, got the victory.
- 1:03:18They are the only undefeated team in the Big 12.
- 1:03:23It's crazy out of, you know what everyone considers the top 2
- 1:03:27conferences in the sport, SEC and Big 10.
- 1:03:31The only undefeated team out of both of those conferences?
- 1:03:34UCLA. Who would have seen that come at
- 1:03:36the beginning of the year? Not me, not me.
- 1:03:41All right, Utah improves the six.
- 1:03:45No, but they had to survive a scare in Boulder, Co.
- 1:03:50The Buffs had them on the ropes there.
- 1:03:54They scored after getting absolutely blanked in the first
- 1:03:58half, 13 to nothing. They scored 17 points in the
- 1:04:02third quarter. One of the better performances
- 1:04:04out of CU's defense. Did a greatly great job of
- 1:04:09limiting way Sean Parker, such an explosive running back for
- 1:04:14the utes kept them under 100 yards.
- 1:04:17Generated a couple of takeaways they picked off Devon Dan Pierre
- 1:04:24twice but some turnovers of that seat of CUS offensive their own.
- 1:04:31They just weren't able to really seal the game.
- 1:04:34They had a sick chance to potentially send this game in
- 1:04:40overtime and in real speed. The ladder will look good.
- 1:04:44Then you slow it down. And it was a very obvious
- 1:04:47forward pass that instead forced Colorado to throw a Hail Mary.
- 1:04:52Weren't able to complete it. The Utes sneak out of there with
- 1:04:57a 27 to 24V. Excuse me, another undefeated
- 1:05:06Big 12 team. Texas Tech just smoke in Arizona
- 1:05:12State, 53 to 25 got whatever they wanted on the ground in
- 1:05:19this one with 260 yards and four touchdowns, A lot of that coming
- 1:05:23from Jacoby Williams on just 11 carries, racking up 165 yards
- 1:05:28and two of the team's 4 rushing scores.
- 1:05:35Just the clinic from the Red Raiders.
- 1:05:37They moved to six and now and that went over that win over
- 1:05:45Houston just looking better and better and then also the win
- 1:05:47over Oregon State. Oregon State's been such an
- 1:05:51awesome surprise this year. They picked up another victory
- 1:05:56this week. All right, and then old miss.
- 1:06:02This is supposed to be the Austin Simmons revenge game
- 1:06:05didn't really go that way. The Rebels really getting back
- 1:06:11on track here. Just a dominant home V31 to
- 1:06:16three over the Mizzou Tigers. Sure that that Chambliss
- 1:06:19reminding everybody that he is the best quarterback in the
- 1:06:22nation. Kind of forgot after the loss to
- 1:06:24Florida and then a quiet match up.
- 1:06:29We're against a bad Vanderbilt team.
- 1:06:33He threw for 241 and 3 touchdowns.
- 1:06:35Also got added a score on the ground.
- 1:06:40What was great I mean this old missed defensive front dominated
- 1:06:43the line of scrimmage. Jamal Roberts who I
- 1:06:46wholeheartedly believe is one of the best running backs all
- 1:06:48college football was shut down. I mean they locked him up.
- 1:06:52He only had 39 yards on 20 attempts.
- 1:06:55Like Mizzou was trying to get the run going they just could
- 1:06:58not. Great domination at the line of
- 1:07:00scrimmage. There 5 TF LS2 sacks in this one
- 1:07:04for that Old miss defense took got an interception as well.
- 1:07:12So yeah, they just they forced Austin Simmons to throw the ball
- 1:07:17and that's not the identity Austin of this Mizzou team.
- 1:07:20Austin can he can sling it around the yard, but they really
- 1:07:24like to try to control the clock, control time of
- 1:07:27possession and run. Roberts and old Miss just took
- 1:07:32that away from them. Great lookout, great look for
- 1:07:36Pete Golding and the guys moving up to five and one on the
- 1:07:42season. All right, get to one of our
- 1:07:45first big upsets, Texas at home against Florida.
- 1:07:50They were up 17 to 3 at one point in this one and then the
- 1:07:55Gators absolute either scoring 20, you know, 27 points after
- 1:08:04that and eventually coming in with a 27 to 24 upset.
- 1:08:10Arch Manning, another tough showing.
- 1:08:13He didn't really do a whole lot. Only 173 yards in this one.
- 1:08:19Texas looks very beatable when they can't run the football.
- 1:08:23Jayden Baugh and Trinel Jones getting back on track. 91 for
- 1:08:28Baugh, 41 for Jones. Big part of their teams. 158
- 1:08:33rushing yards in this one the Gators defense man getting those
- 1:08:39five sacks and they had 11 TF LS.
- 1:08:44This is where we've seen floor that can be dangerous when they
- 1:08:47control the line of scrimmage like this.
- 1:08:53Some big got some good, good work out of the return team.
- 1:08:58Yeah, it was. They just had Arch Manning
- 1:09:02rattled and I got to give a shout out to the offensive line
- 1:09:05of the Gators did a great job against a ferocious Texas pass
- 1:09:09rush. Only one sack in this one
- 1:09:12completely neutralized a lot of their great.
- 1:09:17All these good pass rushers. Colin Simmons, really the only
- 1:09:19guy to make his impact. Felt the team's lone sack and
- 1:09:24four TF LS. But yeah, Simmons was making the
- 1:09:28most when he wasn't getting double team.
- 1:09:30But nobody else was able to help him out and alleviate or or
- 1:09:35cause any disruption when he was getting those double s and all
- 1:09:38that help sent to him. So the Gators take down another
- 1:09:43top ten team. They're an interesting,
- 1:09:52interesting team in the rank. But I do think they do deserve
- 1:09:54to be in the top 25. If you look at their resume.
- 1:09:57I mean, the old miss win looks even better now.
- 1:10:00I'm not sure what happened the past two weeks where they got
- 1:10:03blown out by Missouri and South Carolina, but especially after
- 1:10:10what Auburn did, that road win against Auburn and the road win
- 1:10:13against Texas, some impressive things to put on the resume.
- 1:10:21Another big upset we had, the Volunteers taking down Alabama.
- 1:10:26I mean, kind of just dominating them.
- 1:10:29And this game, shout out to Sean Bishops.
- 1:10:36I mean, the Volts have a game plan and it was give #18 the
- 1:10:39football to their credit, it worked.
- 1:10:42He ran for on 32 carries, 159 yards and two touchdowns.
- 1:10:50Solid game plan. He was he was a lot.
- 1:10:53He was most of their offense in this one.
- 1:10:56Yeah, this Tennessee defense getting after Keelan Russell did
- 1:11:02a great job of of rattling him. He threw 2 interceptions and
- 1:11:06they kept him contained in the pocket and and without the
- 1:11:11threat of his legs. Alabama was rushing attack again
- 1:11:16just looks very pedestrian. They only had 54 yards as a team
- 1:11:21and some of those problems that we saw from the Tide last year
- 1:11:23are starting to the rear of their head where they struggle
- 1:11:26to run the ball and their offense goes cold.
- 1:11:29They just aren't aren't as dominant defensively as they
- 1:11:33have been in years past. Only one take away in this one
- 1:11:43and they gave the ball away 4 times.
- 1:11:47So bad ball security can't run it.
- 1:11:51Not recipe for a loss and 26 to 10 Tennessee takes down their
- 1:11:57rival. All right, Speaking of rivalries
- 1:12:01for the state, gave Miami all they had.
- 1:12:06A lot of people were saying this is a bad for the state team.
- 1:12:08Well, I don't think they're like elite by any means.
- 1:12:10I don't think they're terrible. They're very explosive
- 1:12:15offensively. They've got the ability to put
- 1:12:17up points. We've seen that from them.
- 1:12:19They just wet paper towel on defense.
- 1:12:23They don't stop a whole lot. Darien Mensa, another vintage
- 1:12:30performance from him. He had a A player.
- 1:12:32I have absolutely no idea how he turned this into a positive.
- 1:12:35After nearly getting slung down on the sack, Manages to keep his
- 1:12:39balance. He's facing the wrong direction,
- 1:12:41like he's facing towards his end zone while another defender is
- 1:12:45bearing down. Gets his head around just in
- 1:12:47time, avoids that. Defender rolls and fires the
- 1:12:51ball like 40 yards down the field and sure enough completes
- 1:12:56it. A daily enough shot goes up
- 1:12:59high, points that ball and gets it.
- 1:13:04We're able to turn that into points.
- 1:13:06But yeah, we went to overtime in this one.
- 1:13:07Miami does come our way with the 43 to 35 win.
- 1:13:11Kind of got bailed out on Hail Mary, man.
- 1:13:17I just I didn't see the penalty that they were calling when
- 1:13:22Deuce Robinson caught that first Hail Mary off of like 4th and 15
- 1:13:27in overtime. So I think they got, I think
- 1:13:32they got bailed out there in that sense.
- 1:13:34And then I mean, it was really close again on that second one.
- 1:13:38I think the Miami player just barely got that before before
- 1:13:46the Florida State player. I mean, what you love about
- 1:13:51these rivalry games is no matter how much better one team seems
- 1:13:54like, but the history there it gets he's got these guys get
- 1:13:59inspired. And second, they even smell some
- 1:14:03blood in the water and they think they have life.
- 1:14:05They can they take you down to the wire and they're they're
- 1:14:09looking for the kill. You know, Jeremiah Smith still
- 1:14:14playing with the best wide receiver in all college
- 1:14:15football, but we got to give Malachi Tony his his Flyers as
- 1:14:20well. 11 grabs, 154 and two touchdowns.
- 1:14:26And this one Smith has just been so unreal that like Tony is
- 1:14:31having himself a Heisman caliber season as well.
- 1:14:38All right, moving right along. We're going to go to the last
- 1:14:47crazy is or one of the bigger upsets of the week too #1
- 1:14:50Georgia at home against Auburn. Tigers falls 27 to 24.
- 1:15:00Auburn hadn't beaten Georgia in Georgia in a ridiculous long
- 1:15:05time. I don't remember exactly how
- 1:15:07long they said it was. I think it's been like 9 years
- 1:15:11just since the Tigers had one. In general, the Deep South's
- 1:15:15Oldest Rivalry didn't disappoint.
- 1:15:20This was a good win for the Auburn Tigers.
- 1:15:23I think they really just beat Georgia at their own game with
- 1:15:27just with. Auburn likes to be physical.
- 1:15:30They like running the football, trying to control the line of
- 1:15:33scrimmage, control, time of possession and that's what they
- 1:15:40did for a lot of this one. Byron Brown not didn't really
- 1:15:44beat the Bulldogs with his arm but with his legs 115 on the
- 1:15:49ground and the touchdown did add another TD through the air.
- 1:15:54They got some some trickeration going.
- 1:15:59Christian Neptune awesome last name by the way, on the trick
- 1:16:03play ended up throwing the touchdown as well.
- 1:16:09And then Gunnar Stockton, just a lot of bad turnovers.
- 1:16:14Couple of really bad looking interceptions.
- 1:16:18They also also lost a fumble. I mean, there was it was like a
- 1:16:23a game of highs and lows for gunner.
- 1:16:25You saw some good moments out of him, but ultimately the Auburn
- 1:16:32defense getting after him, that's definitely rattled him.
- 1:16:36I mean, he he for one interception just sailed like a
- 1:16:40check down right in front of him over his Titans head to defender
- 1:16:44behind him. And so Auburn almost, almost
- 1:16:51lost this in the in the fourth quarter.
- 1:16:53Georgia started to get back on track there, but the Tigers got
- 1:17:01one final good drive, got a field goal to take the lead and
- 1:17:04then they won it with their defense.
- 1:17:07So impressive win for the Tigers and the Bulldogs only #1 for one
- 1:17:14week. All right, Indiana, Ohio State,
- 1:17:19our top five match up early in the morning and honestly, both
- 1:17:26quarterbacks struggled in this one.
- 1:17:29Julian Saying had two interceptions.
- 1:17:32Josh Hoover only completed about 50% of his passes.
- 1:17:37The best receiver in this game was Charlie Becker.
- 1:17:39Just like we all thought with his 165 receiving yards,
- 1:17:43Jeremiah Smith had to stay patient in this one.
- 1:17:47The Indiana defense sent a lot of help his way.
- 1:17:54They were double teaming him constantly, but he stayed
- 1:17:56patient. Eventually got that touchdown
- 1:17:59opportunity saying did get hurt in this one and I believe he
- 1:18:10might be what was the latest update?
- 1:18:18Yeah, he's out and definitely they don't even know if he'll be
- 1:18:24ready for the postseason. So Ohio State losing their
- 1:18:28starting quarterback, which is going to definitely be a tough
- 1:18:31blow. But with both of these teams, I
- 1:18:34really think they they're they're good enough to win a lot
- 1:18:38of big games with no matter who's back there quarterback.
- 1:18:43I mean, these are both two really elite defenses.
- 1:18:47This was a defensive battle. I mean, 19 to 15 defensive
- 1:18:50battle through and through. And like Indiana was able to
- 1:18:58rack up 4 sacks. They did a great job of
- 1:19:02protecting the ball, didn't make a lot of mistakes, which, you
- 1:19:07know, was just something we've come to extract with the Kirk
- 1:19:09sick of any team. And Despite that, you know,
- 1:19:13despite some mistakes from Ohio State's with with all the
- 1:19:16turnovers, the defense didn't didn't get gashed.
- 1:19:22They didn't give up really any explosives.
- 1:19:25I mean, there weren't I try to think the longest play in the
- 1:19:28end had was like 36 yards and that I don't know if they had
- 1:19:34anything above 20 yards at another pass play that went for
- 1:19:39more than 20 yards. So they kept everything in front
- 1:19:41of them like both of these teams are going to be good enough to
- 1:19:45win the matter who's back there at quarterback.
- 1:19:47They can both win the national championship.
- 1:19:49Despite that they're so talented.
- 1:19:50There's just so much back there. So I think Ohio State will still
- 1:19:54be OK. Luke Fahey is going to be the
- 1:19:58man, I believe coming in the backup saying.
- 1:20:01And Indiana, despite playing mostly a mistake free game, it
- 1:20:06was just that the one mistake that they did make ended up
- 1:20:08costing them with Nick Marsh. Wide open and I just couldn't
- 1:20:14get his foot in balance. Brutal.
- 1:20:17That was a brutal a brutal 1. Brutal way to lose.
- 1:20:23And then finally the Pop Tart Bowl revenge game.
- 1:20:29BYU goes in the pro or other Dan goes in the Provo to play BYU
- 1:20:34and the Cougars take down the Irish 28 to 24.
- 1:20:47And I see, you know, I see on Twitter these Notre Dame fans
- 1:20:51saying, oh, BYU with it, you know, they only got their C
- 1:20:54game. We didn't play our best.
- 1:20:55Like the Cougars had plenty of mistakes on their own.
- 1:20:58They muffed the punt. They had a turnover on downs.
- 1:21:03They fumble once, they threw the Bear, threw an interception.
- 1:21:07They also didn't have their best offensive player and LJ Martin.
- 1:21:13They they were coming in with their C game too, and they still
- 1:21:17won. So it wasn't like they got the
- 1:21:20best, even the best possible game out of BYU.
- 1:21:26But this was I think this was just satisfying for a lot of us
- 1:21:29in the college football world. Notre Dame refusing to join the
- 1:21:33conference, not playing the toughest of schedules, ducking
- 1:21:40out of the Pop Tart Bowl because they didn't want to play BYU
- 1:21:43because they didn't get to go to the College Football Playoff and
- 1:21:48the Cougars. I think this is this is up there
- 1:21:51with some of the best wins in college football right now.
- 1:21:54I mean, despite all the the clowning on the other day and
- 1:21:57this is a a really stacked team. Jayden Greathouse has slowly
- 1:22:06worked his way into my top ten wide receivers in college
- 1:22:09football. He was phenomenal.
- 1:22:11The go to guy or CJ Carr, especially late in this one, he
- 1:22:16had had a lot of great catches. I want to know what you guys
- 1:22:20think on that final play, that fourth down that fell
- 1:22:25incomplete. It wasn't the 4th down.
- 1:22:27I believe it was by the 3rd, 3rd and cold because there was a
- 1:22:32second left supposedly on the clock.
- 1:22:36I can the the still shots do make it seem like there was a
- 1:22:40second left. I I will concede that I don't
- 1:22:44see, I don't see the pass interference.
- 1:22:47I mean, both guys are kind of grabbing each other's arms and
- 1:22:51it wasn't a great, great ball anyway.
- 1:22:54So I don't know. Even if there wasn't all that
- 1:22:57hand fighting, if who was that was going through, I think it
- 1:23:00was great. House would have had a chance to
- 1:23:03even catch that ball. Yeah, well, I don't know what
- 1:23:06you guys think. Was there a second left?
- 1:23:09Was that pass interference? Neither got called.
- 1:23:14So BYU undefeated. There are three undefeated Big
- 1:23:2010 teams. Still, They're all in the top
- 1:23:24ten Big 12 teams, rather all in the top 10 and the Cougars move
- 1:23:32to #2 now I'm going to go ahead. I don't like the AP rankings, so
- 1:23:40I went ahead. I'm going to pull it up here.
- 1:23:43I went ahead and made my own rankings.
- 1:23:45So H GS top 25 starting at one. We have BYU, they've got the
- 1:23:53best win in college football. It's up there.
- 1:23:56My opinion, they're undefeated. They've got a great resume,
- 1:24:02especially the win against Arizona, even looks better now
- 1:24:06because Arizona has been really good.
- 1:24:08Then I'll give it to Miami, who's yes, they're undefeated.
- 1:24:13They've got the victory over Wake Forest.
- 1:24:15Not quite as impressive as a resume as Miami.
- 1:24:18So I think as BYU rather so I think BYU deserves to take the
- 1:24:22number one spot at #3 I've got Ohio State.
- 1:24:26Yeah, they've got the loss of Texas.
- 1:24:28That was One Point Rd. loss, but they've got wins at Indiana and
- 1:24:31at Iowa. They've got the resume to be a
- 1:24:35top three team. I just don't think they they're
- 1:24:38wanting to because they're undefeated.
- 1:24:41And then I moved Texas Tech all the way up to 4 undefeated team.
- 1:24:46They've got a signature victory against a really good Houston
- 1:24:51team under their belt. I think they deserve to be in
- 1:24:54the top in the top five. I moved Georgia only down to
- 1:24:58five. The loss against Auburn at home
- 1:25:02isn't great, but I you got to give that win at Alabama some
- 1:25:06credit and they had been very dominant on every other opponent
- 1:25:10up to that point. I moved old miss to 6.
- 1:25:17Excuse me, Ole Miss to 6. The one loss to Florida doesn't
- 1:25:23look as bad before the does keep pulling off these crazy road
- 1:25:28victories and you've got a victory over LSU, dominant
- 1:25:33victory over Missouri, only one loss on the season, a great a
- 1:25:42victory on the neutral site over Louisville.
- 1:25:45So I think they deserve that six spot.
- 1:25:49Indiana, I've only moved down to seven.
- 1:25:53This was a, you know, it was a tough, this was a tough game
- 1:25:55against them, but they've got a victory against a very good
- 1:25:58Northwestern team. I could come from behind, win on
- 1:26:03the road against Nebraska, and then they've dominated a lot of
- 1:26:08their lesser opponents and they were very, they were really
- 1:26:11close. They were really close to
- 1:26:12beating Ohio State. You can't drop them down too
- 1:26:15far. I've moved UCLA up to 8.
- 1:26:19They do have that win at Austin that I really like, obviously
- 1:26:23with a backup quarterback, which is why I still have teams like,
- 1:26:26you know, Indiana, old miss Georgia ahead of them.
- 1:26:34That's a great win on the resume.
- 1:26:38However, slight asterisk just cuz again, backup quarterback in
- 1:26:43the game for the Ducks. Then I've got Utah, another
- 1:26:50undefeated team. I just don't think it's really
- 1:26:53played anyone. The other has like a a signature
- 1:26:57victory. They've been really good, don't
- 1:27:00get me wrong, but the best team you've played is Iowa State, who
- 1:27:06is 3 and three. Kind of just an average team.
- 1:27:11They got a chance to jump up a lot if they can beat Houston
- 1:27:14when I dropped the Irish back down to 10.
- 1:27:18While they've been really dominant with everyone they have
- 1:27:20played. You play your first ranked team
- 1:27:22on the road, you'll lose kind of kind of have to drop you down
- 1:27:26below some of the other undefeateds here.
- 1:27:28I've moved Houston all the way up to 11.
- 1:27:31They got the Oklahoma State win. I think they've been one of the
- 1:27:37better teams in college football.
- 1:27:39I really like the victory over. They also have beaten a really
- 1:27:42good Oregon State team. Only loss was a two point loss
- 1:27:48on the road against a very good Texas Tech team.
- 1:27:52So I think we really deserve to jump up there at 12 and 13.
- 1:27:56I've got Kentucky and Tennessee. I could flip flop those teams.
- 1:28:00You can convince me to go either way.
- 1:28:02I put Kentucky at 12:00 just because I like what they've done
- 1:28:07a little bit more than I have. Iowa at 14.
- 1:28:14Only loss was a very, I guess a very good Ohio State team while
- 1:28:20it was at home. Got to come from behind the win
- 1:28:23against Michigan, which doesn't look as great now, but still,
- 1:28:26rather than bear, you know, getting it done on the road
- 1:28:30warrant some respect. 15 I've got Wake Forest. 16 we've got
- 1:28:35Northwestern 17 USC. 18 I have Boise State, 19 SMU 20 LSU, 21,
- 1:28:46Arizona, 22, Missouri, 23, Florida, 24 Oklahoma State and
- 1:28:5425 I got Oregon back in there. Find the ways to get a victory,
- 1:29:01victories with, you know, with a backup quarterback in there.
- 1:29:08They're only two losses, both coming against ranked teams.
- 1:29:13So I think it's a little ridiculous that the SEC is the
- 1:29:18only conference with two lost teams ranked in the top 25 and
- 1:29:22they have 52 lost teams ranked in the top 25.
- 1:29:28I mean, there's no other conference gets punished less
- 1:29:30for losing games. So couple of two lost teams that
- 1:29:34I said got to sneak back in here some matchups.
- 1:29:40Keep an eye on LSU. You going on the road to the
- 1:29:44Jordan O'Hare Stadium? Upsetler may be there.
- 1:29:50Cincinnati's been a really good team.
- 1:29:52Texas Tech could be walking into a trap game in Nippert Stadium
- 1:29:57there. It's a bit of a more of a down
- 1:30:04week. Texas, can they get back on
- 1:30:07track against old miss? I don't even think they should
- 1:30:09be ranked nationally. They're 18th.
- 1:30:11But and then again, they're Florida's below them.
- 1:30:13But like we have the product on the field where Florida beat
- 1:30:18them. Just doesn't head to head, just
- 1:30:21doesn't mean anything, I guess in the sport.
- 1:30:26But really our biggest matchup, Utah versus Houston, that's
- 1:30:30going to be a massive 1 there. And then my favorite non ranked
- 1:30:42team, Oregon State, just not one of my favorite stories, not
- 1:30:47playing this week. All right, well, that's going to
- 1:30:52wrap up the college football coverage.
- 1:30:53I got about half an hour left. We're going to go ahead and talk
- 1:30:56a little NFL to wrap up the show.
- 1:31:03Crazy week around the NFL as well.
- 1:31:09Let's just get right into it. I'm going to start on Thursday
- 1:31:12with my Broncos just barely eking out the win.
- 1:31:17Terrible, terrible second-half. Bonex, my quarterback's very
- 1:31:24rabble, does not seem like himself.
- 1:31:28He's never been one to push the ball down the field a lot.
- 1:31:31But to not even like your average attempted pass being
- 1:31:38point -.1, like you're not even making it back to the line of
- 1:31:42scrimmage with your average attempted passes is not good.
- 1:31:47He doesn't look confident using his legs, won't throw the ball
- 1:31:51down the field a whole lot. Luckily we got some couple
- 1:31:56rushing touchdowns out of RJ Harvey and JK Dobbins.
- 1:32:00Vance Joseph just scheming out of his mind.
- 1:32:03He had Sam Darnold seeing ghosts again.
- 1:32:08The defense is getting takeaways. 3 takeaways got the
- 1:32:12fumble and two interceptions off of Darnold, including one in
- 1:32:17overtime to set up the game-winning field goal by Will
- 1:32:22Watts. Luckily we picked that ball off
- 1:32:24and plus territory. So, you know, despite only
- 1:32:30gaining 8 yards of offense, it was within lots of field goal
- 1:32:33range. Yeah, 5 sacks for the for the
- 1:32:37Denver defense and we only gave up leading rusher only had 52
- 1:32:44yards. Got to get a little something
- 1:32:51going on offense because this is just, I mean, it's a game that
- 1:32:55we could have potentially turned into a blowout.
- 1:32:59And it was just absolutely lifeless performance from the
- 1:33:03offense in the second-half. But the defense came up clutch
- 1:33:07and made some huge plays, killed some good Seattle drives.
- 1:33:14And ultimately they won US the game by putting us into field
- 1:33:18goal range there. I'm hoping Arizona, who kind of
- 1:33:23put on a clinic against the Rams, I was hoping this could be
- 1:33:28a get back, a get right game for Bo, get them some of his
- 1:33:30confidence back. But I don't know.
- 1:33:36Excuse me, Arizona sort of shut down Los Angeles.
- 1:33:43You know what, we'll go over there.
- 1:33:45They got that 18 to 16 victory and I think they're just picking
- 1:33:52up on a lot of these Rams tendencies.
- 1:33:53I like to show pressure and then those those receivers love to
- 1:34:00just run the cut the route short, run those little hitches.
- 1:34:05And instead what they're doing is just crashing their safeties
- 1:34:09down on the short routes. And we're really taking a lot of
- 1:34:13that away from the Rams because Stafford's not very mobile.
- 1:34:16When you bring that pressure, he has to get rid of the ball very
- 1:34:19quickly. He doesn't have time to extend
- 1:34:22when they're just crashing so hard on all that short stuff.
- 1:34:28I like couldn't really wasn't really able to adjust to that.
- 1:34:34So good. I shout out there punter for
- 1:34:37making that field goal, putting them or the extra point, putting
- 1:34:40them up by one point for a little bit.
- 1:34:44Definitely a very soft personal foul where the receiver I think
- 1:34:50is Brooks caught that pass across the middle and kind of
- 1:34:55just fell into the Rams. Like as he was coming down with
- 1:34:58the catch, Rams play didn't really like make forcible
- 1:35:01contact. He was just kind of standing
- 1:35:03there and Brooks's helmet fell into his shoulder pad and they
- 1:35:08called that that unnecessary hit to the head on the defenseless
- 1:35:12receiver. Tacked on an extra 15 Cards
- 1:35:17walked it off MVP of this game Child Rile in a perfect six for
- 1:35:24six. Scored all 18 points for the
- 1:35:30Cardinals in this one and just it's just more special teams was
- 1:35:37for the excuse me for the Rams. I mean Blake Groupie kicks 1
- 1:35:47field goal, then tears his ACL on the the ensuing kick off
- 1:35:51trying to make a tackle, then you're forced to go for 2 the
- 1:35:58whole game. So they they really put the the
- 1:36:00special and special teams unit 2 and 4 though for the Rams and
- 1:36:04that might be time to press the the panic button.
- 1:36:08There across the pond are the London game.
- 1:36:12Man, what a battle this was. CJ Stroud throwing for 3/12 and
- 1:36:19three touchdowns. Trevor Lawrence had three O 64
- 1:36:23touchdowns. Basil Tooton fantasy managers
- 1:36:26rejoice. Oh my God he was so do.
- 1:36:29I knew he was so do. He had a touch.
- 1:36:32Multiple big plays in the touchdown he called back against
- 1:36:35the Bengals. A perfect opportunity to get a
- 1:36:38touchdown to go with his 72 yards last week.
- 1:36:42Was taken away to do the two straight false start penalties
- 1:36:48and then that drive went from goal to goal at the one first
- 1:36:54and goal they were drop. Went back a bunch of yards and
- 1:36:57then they turned it over on downs.
- 1:37:00That sequence last week. So he got the 22 touchdowns this
- 1:37:04week both through the air and that's what we drafted.
- 1:37:09And Linn Cohen likes to because that's the receiving touchdown
- 1:37:13upside, just the receiving upside in general.
- 1:37:15And Alim Cohen offense, Jalen Knoll, a little bit of a
- 1:37:21breakout game here, LED all receivers with 107 yards of the
- 1:37:25touchdown. We saw Marvin Harrison only ran
- 1:37:289 routes, but it was targeted 4 times.
- 1:37:31So seems like he'll be a big part of the the Texans offense
- 1:37:36here. And yeah, while Houston's
- 1:37:40defense continues to struggle, CJ Stroud look, looks very good.
- 1:37:47They're able to find a little bit of something on the ground
- 1:37:49going with Woody Marks and Jawar Jordan Marks didn't see if
- 1:37:55you're a Woody Marks fancy owner.
- 1:37:56Marks did see most of the carries.
- 1:37:58So Jordan just had the big play. Ended up getting a touchdown
- 1:38:01this week, but Marks is still seeing most of the snaps, so
- 1:38:05don't panic there. And Travis Hunter finally
- 1:38:13getting I'll go up to that kind of Unicorn performance.
- 1:38:16First player then since 2002 to record an interception and a
- 1:38:21touchdown reception in one game. Last guy that was Brian Dawkins
- 1:38:25also against the Texans. Little fun fact for you there.
- 1:38:32But 34 to 31 Houston keeping their season alive with a big
- 1:38:38divisional victory over seas. All right, a team that was
- 1:38:46really happy to get their quarterback back was the Chicago
- 1:38:48Bears. Caleb was great in his return,
- 1:38:52completing 30 of his 36 passes for 305 yards.
- 1:38:57Had a touchdown as well. Bears got back to grant their
- 1:39:01ground and pound attack. 3 rushing touchdowns for them in
- 1:39:06this one and this by a furious fourth quarter comeback by the
- 1:39:13Atlanta Falcons. Chicago held on, won this game
- 1:39:1631 to 23. I liked what they were able to
- 1:39:21do limiting Bijon Robinson in this one.
- 1:39:27Part of that was Atlanta just got down by a lot so quickly and
- 1:39:32just kept that in the pass. It interesting play calling
- 1:39:35choices here. I mean, Bijon only had 9
- 1:39:38carries, two receptions. I don't know if I'm comfortable
- 1:39:44leaving a game where #7 only touches the ball 11 times.
- 1:39:52I don't think that's a recipe for success to the Atlanta's
- 1:40:00giving Stefanski some benefit of the doubt when you only have the
- 1:40:04ball for 20 minutes of the game and your team, the other team
- 1:40:08controls. Controls it for 40 minutes.
- 1:40:12Yeah, you're gonna it's tough to establish the run when you're
- 1:40:17trailing by a lot and need to need to score a lot of points.
- 1:40:21But the guy that that that's that explosive.
- 1:40:25I would still look to to give the ball and Lanham if they were
- 1:40:32better about letting all these penalties kill Chicago's draft.
- 1:40:36Like they just kept letting Chicago extend these drives
- 1:40:39despite 12 penalties for 133 yards.
- 1:40:43Didn't matter if the Bears got behind the sticks.
- 1:40:45They just kept drives going, kept these, kept those long
- 1:40:49drives and just worked off that clock and held onto the ball.
- 1:40:56Bears four and two Atlanta two and three O and three at home
- 1:40:59haven't been able to win in their home stadium.
- 1:41:06Well, Miles Garrett's got to be punching the air because you
- 1:41:09leave Cleveland and here they are at four and two atop with
- 1:41:15the sole the sole lead of the NFC North.
- 1:41:22No, no QJ for the the Browns backfield by committee, couple
- 1:41:28of former Broncos doing most of the getting most of the carries
- 1:41:32and Audrick estimate and Julia McLaughlin.
- 1:41:38Deshaun Watson still playing like a backup quarterback.
- 1:41:42Tyler Huntley is actually a backup quarterback.
- 1:41:44This was just a one of those like super defensive and ugly
- 1:41:52NFC North games. Neither team had their There's
- 1:41:58certain quarterback, one team's missing, there's certain running
- 1:42:01back. 8 total sacks in this one and 13 TFLSI mean both defensive
- 1:42:10fronts were just getting after each quarterback.
- 1:42:15Carson Schwessinger man in Year 2, continuing to make big plays.
- 1:42:20He had 13 tackles in this one. Also forced a crucial fumble
- 1:42:26late in the late in the game with Derrick Henry and Andre
- 1:42:32Schmitz. Walks it off with another
- 1:42:35game-winning field goal to win a division game.
- 1:42:40This Cleveland defense has been nasty and they're a big reason.
- 1:42:43They're the biggest reason why this team is 4 and 2.
- 1:42:54Really struggled to run the ball a lot of this game that
- 1:42:57Cleveland only 93 yards. Deshaun Watson only threw for
- 1:43:02164. It was the take away that set up
- 1:43:07the touchdown. And then again, they got forced
- 1:43:13to punt and gave their offense a chance to get in the field goal
- 1:43:18range. I honestly think that like, I
- 1:43:24know they're winning, but I feel like it's, you know, despite a
- 1:43:29lot of what Deshaun Watson does, I feel like this team could be
- 1:43:34even or it would be kind of dominant with just a little bit
- 1:43:38better of a quarterback in there.
- 1:43:41But I get it. You don't want to disrupt the
- 1:43:43winning formula. You're winning the games or into
- 1:43:47sole possession of first place in the NFC North.
- 1:43:55Man, the Colts, this got to be an all time low at home against,
- 1:44:00I don't know, it's a division rival, but at home against the
- 1:44:03lowly Titans, Cam Ward only throws for 102 yards and you
- 1:44:10guys lose this game by 6. The Titans only had 186 total
- 1:44:19yards in this game. That's really bad.
- 1:44:26I mean, their offense did nothing.
- 1:44:28Still, they had there were three of 10 on 3rd downs.
- 1:44:37Still, Cam still threw a pick. Like all you have to do is try
- 1:44:41to run, give this ball to Jonathan Taylor and not turn it
- 1:44:46over and not get a punt block to return for a touchdown.
- 1:44:49But three, 3 turnovers, 2 interceptions for Daniel Jones
- 1:44:56with Jonathan Taylor fumble, a blocked punt that gets turned
- 1:45:00into a touchdown. You just kept giving the Titans
- 1:45:04the opportunities and even with as bad as the Titans are, they
- 1:45:09obliged and ended up winning this game. 24th quarter points
- 1:45:16for Tennessee. This was a game so bad they got
- 1:45:21the GM fired. Want to give Jeffrey Simmons a
- 1:45:27shout out guy who doesn't get a lot of love all the time from
- 1:45:34the national media Cuz he's on Tennessee.
- 1:45:37Consistently one of the best defensive tackles in the league
- 1:45:40every year. He was an absolute game wrecker
- 1:45:43in this. 12 sacks forced that fumble that he also recovered.
- 1:45:50A massive reason on why they won this one.
- 1:45:58I don't know, India, it's you gave up so much.
- 1:46:02You went all in on Daniel Jones and it's like you didn't really.
- 1:46:08Sauce Gardner hasn't been the impactful player.
- 1:46:11You fought. Your defense is not very good
- 1:46:16and you don't have a lot of draft capital.
- 1:46:21We'll see, but you might. You might be getting into the
- 1:46:23range of like 2. You need to start trading
- 1:46:27players like does Jonathan Taylor get traded here at the
- 1:46:32deadline, maybe to the Broncos, and you try to rebuild some
- 1:46:38draft capital Because I just don't think the team you've got
- 1:46:41is the formula to be competitive, not with a team
- 1:46:46like Jacksonville or even Houston in your division. 26 to
- 1:46:5520 Titans get their first victory of the season, keeping
- 1:47:03it in the AFC and with AFC divisional matchups.
- 1:47:07The New England Patriots taking on the New York football Jets
- 1:47:14man, this actually Jets turn this into a bit of a ball game
- 1:47:18there at the end. We got the C first round rookie
- 1:47:22Omar Cooper junior really have his breakout and his first big
- 1:47:27performance of his NFL career. Grabbed 6 balls for one O 3 in
- 1:47:31the touchdown in this one PPO or rest of start Travion or
- 1:47:41Dobbins. That's a good one.
- 1:47:52I'll probably go Dobbins this week.
- 1:47:56I think he's going to be good for at least one goal line
- 1:48:00carry. It's Trayvon's just been he's
- 1:48:04very boom or bust. And I don't know if I just feel
- 1:48:12like if you're the if the Patriots are going to beat the
- 1:48:14Bears, they're probably going to throw it a lot more.
- 1:48:19This game against New York, he only saw 7 carries.
- 1:48:23Makes me a little nervous to start Trevion when Dijon
- 1:48:26Robinson could only manage 7 fantasy points against the
- 1:48:29Bears. So only JK will put up a lot a
- 1:48:33lot of yards, but I think he's going to he'll be good to give
- 1:48:37you at least a touchdown this week against Arizona Back to The
- 1:48:45Jets and patriots matchup. A.J.
- 1:48:48Brown looking a little rusty coming off the bench.
- 1:48:51Don't I would say don't panic on him.
- 1:48:53The opportunities were there. I don't think he's going to have
- 1:48:56all these drops. It was what 7 and this one he
- 1:49:01saw 10 targets so was only able to grab 3 catches.
- 1:49:07The the opportunities are still going to be there.
- 1:49:10Romeo Dobbs just got hurt as well.
- 1:49:12He's going to miss some time. So it's I mean, his best
- 1:49:16competition is is out of out of there.
- 1:49:21So he'll still see the targets. I expect the drops to go down.
- 1:49:28It's nice to see Drake may his back.
- 1:49:32Great performance from Omar Cooper.
- 1:49:34I will keep in mind if you are considering going after Omar or
- 1:49:37playing him. Garrett Wilson was getting
- 1:49:40locked up by Christian Gonzalez for a lot of this game.
- 1:49:44That's probably not going to be something that happens through
- 1:49:48every match up. But good.
- 1:49:53Another good divisional victory for the New England Patriots.
- 1:50:00Well, the Saints started out down 10, nothing, then scored 34
- 1:50:06unanswered points. And then we're kind of sweating
- 1:50:10after JJ McCarthy comes in and lead scores 17 unanswered for
- 1:50:16the Giants. This game was wild.
- 1:50:18We saw 4 quarterbacks come in and get snaps in this game.
- 1:50:22Spencer Rattler did come in for like one drive in the fourth
- 1:50:25quarter because I think the Saints stop.
- 1:50:26This game was over. And then McCarthy made them real
- 1:50:28nervous. And this one, Malik Neighbors
- 1:50:34finally getting unlocked. That's great to see.
- 1:50:36He had 12 grabs for 165 in this one, likely still being one of
- 1:50:40the best fantasy tight ends this season.
- 1:50:43Alvin Kamara came with just a six player in the NFL history to
- 1:50:48have 5000 career rushing and receiving yards.
- 1:50:52Did that on a 31 yard touchdown grab.
- 1:51:00Now we're seeing Kendra Miller. If you are, if you're desperate,
- 1:51:03you need to start. Saints running back Kendra
- 1:51:05Miller's probably your guy. He got most of the carries in
- 1:51:09this 120 for him. So he he seems to be their while
- 1:51:16ETN is gone. He seems to be their their guy
- 1:51:20that they're they're relying on bit of a quarterback controversy
- 1:51:23now here in New York. The Saints hold on and win this
- 1:51:2534 to 27. But with how well JJ played that
- 1:51:29seriously raised the question. Do you start James next week?
- 1:51:37Well, Eagles have the backup quarterback trying to take on
- 1:51:41the Carolina Panthers. Bryce Young continues to
- 1:51:44impress, thrown for 281 and one touchdown.
- 1:51:47Chuba racked up 120 on the ground in the touchdown.
- 1:51:50And Jalen Coker, good to see him back out there.
- 1:51:53All my fellow cokeheads love seeing Jalen back out there.
- 1:51:59Got 6 catches from 97 yards, Carolina three and two.
- 1:52:04And right now first place in the NFC South, Pittsburgh got taken
- 1:52:14overtime by Jalen Daniels. And I again, I have some some
- 1:52:19questions. I mean, Tampa's looked looked
- 1:52:23solid with him in there. So I don't think you're you're
- 1:52:26paying him a lot of money. He's still probably your guy
- 1:52:29when you come back. But it's the rookie has been
- 1:52:32impressive. We got a little revenge
- 1:52:37interception from Jamel Dean in this one, picking off his former
- 1:52:40team which helped set up a big score and Aaron Rodgers slang in
- 1:52:47the rock 49 times Still at his old age.
- 1:52:51Jeremy Bernard starting to see that rookie really break out for
- 1:52:55him. I was I was a little sceptical
- 1:52:58about starting him this week. I really regret that.
- 1:53:00Still was able to come away with the win but bam, his twenty.
- 1:53:04He had 25 points in the PPR like that was that one.
- 1:53:12That one sucked to have on the bench there.
- 1:53:13I was just glad I still won. I think right now, with all the
- 1:53:17injuries in the the Pittsburgh wide receiver corps, he's a he's
- 1:53:21a must start at your at your flex every week unless you
- 1:53:25somehow have a a better option. I I really like what he's got.
- 1:53:31I don't think he's going to be too matchup depending because I
- 1:53:33thought this was going to be a tougher matchup for him anyways.
- 1:53:36The Bucks secondary has been playing better as of late, but
- 1:53:40he's still 11 grabs for him and both DK Metcalf, most of who
- 1:53:45Aaron Rodgers was feeding the ball to.
- 1:53:46And then Jalen Ramsey, another old time, returning back the
- 1:53:54clock and getting a clutch sack to basically seal it and end it
- 1:53:59in overtime after Pittsburgh took the lead 26 to 19 in that
- 1:54:03game as well. All right, we'll have some time
- 1:54:07to make sure we get a chance to do our picks for Week 7.
- 1:54:16Bills and Raiders have a a showdown, a shootout in the
- 1:54:20desert. Buffalo hangs on and wins 33 to
- 1:54:2430. Josh Allen just doing some
- 1:54:27absolutely Superman things there.
- 1:54:31But Kirk Cousins, yeah, again, didn't get the victory, but
- 1:54:3733132 touchdowns. I was surprised.
- 1:54:43He was like a waiver ad for me that I picked up.
- 1:54:46So I mean, if you're in a serious league, some of these
- 1:54:48probably or deep relief, somebody's probably got the
- 1:54:51Raiders, but I wouldn't the Raiders QB, but I would just
- 1:54:55I'll go check and see if he's out there.
- 1:54:56I I just you know, Kyler Murray on by Jalen Hurts was out.
- 1:55:01I needed to I needed to get a different quarterback and if he
- 1:55:07was sitting, I was like that. I like the match up against the
- 1:55:09Bills. So he's been slinging it.
- 1:55:13We're we're seeing if he's out there and then if you've got
- 1:55:15Trey Tucker or if he's available, I think he's really
- 1:55:18unlocked his rules the the the number 2 pass catcher on this
- 1:55:23team. Still, I think he'll be match up
- 1:55:26dependent, but he's just a solid option to have in a flex spot on
- 1:55:31a week to week basis. The Chargers are the first team
- 1:55:34this year they reach O and six. The only team to reach O and six
- 1:55:37so far. The Dolphins are on the by.
- 1:55:39They could reach it, but still winless.
- 1:55:42They get just dominated in Kansas City, 22 to 6.
- 1:55:49And Kenneth Walker, man, it feels like a down day when he
- 1:55:52only has 128 yards and two touchdowns.
- 1:55:55It's kind of underwhelming even though that's still a really
- 1:55:57good performance. The Packers do what they do and
- 1:56:03it feels like every year and embarrass the Cowboys.
- 1:56:09The Cowboys offense looks kind of broken.
- 1:56:11Dak was absolutely rattled. Jonathan Gannon was was just
- 1:56:16playing mind games with him. He didn't know what he was
- 1:56:19seeing. Jordan Love honestly could have
- 1:56:22had four touchdowns in this one. Three and three drop touchdowns
- 1:56:26in this 1/2 for Matthew Golden and one from Christian Watson.
- 1:56:30Despite that, they both did still have really good games.
- 1:56:34Pack at the victory 23 to 13 on Sunday Night Football.
- 1:56:38The command the Commanders and 49ers on Monday night.
- 1:56:45It was all 49ers in the first half.
- 1:56:47Their offense really stagnated after Mike Evans got hurt but
- 1:56:52Perthy for MVP still going strong.
- 1:56:57He threw for 264 and a touchdown in this one.
- 1:57:01Niners Chiefs are both 6 and O and Dan Quinn's got to get
- 1:57:07fired. Just some inexcusable mental
- 1:57:11mistakes. Jayden including from him and
- 1:57:14Jay and Daniels. Him not knowing that it's 4th
- 1:57:17down this week and Jayden throwing the ball out of bounds
- 1:57:25put it just put their team in a bad situation at the end of this
- 1:57:29game where they could have just had the chance to kick a field
- 1:57:31goal and instead had to go go for them fourth down.
- 1:57:37How to try to get a touchdown. Yeah, just just terrible
- 1:57:42coaching. I Dan Quinn's got to get fired
- 1:57:44and this has been this has been really bad.
- 1:57:47Let me get a logged in here and pull up our week going into Week
- 1:57:547 picks here starting on Thursday Night Football.
- 1:58:00New England's won three straight, but I think Chicago,
- 1:58:04they are just dangerous when they're running the football I
- 1:58:10like I like Chicago to get the victory at home here.
- 1:58:14This game, this game is a bit of a coin flip to me, though.
- 1:58:16I wouldn't be surprised that New England won, but I'm gonna go.
- 1:58:18I'm gonna go with the home team here.
- 1:58:20They looked really good with Caleb back.
- 1:58:24All right, in Paris, Pittsburgh and New Orleans.
- 1:58:28I mean, the Saints gotta win this, right?
- 1:58:30The with the, their logo, the heavy French connections down
- 1:58:36there in Louisiana, Pittsburgh just playing better ball right
- 1:58:43now. I'm going to go with, I am going
- 1:58:45to go with the Saints, though. I'm gonna shout out my boy
- 1:58:49caveman. We'll go with the Saints for
- 1:58:51this one. San Francisco versus Atlanta.
- 1:58:55Definitely got some questions about San Fran's receiving
- 1:58:59corps. Who's even going to be healthy
- 1:59:02for them? No, I, I think I'm going to take
- 1:59:05Atlanta to pull the upset here. I don't know if Mike Evans is
- 1:59:09going to be good to go. The the defense is still a
- 1:59:13little banged up. I just think this is one of
- 1:59:16those game. Atlanta gets their first home
- 1:59:18game of the season, so it has to be a tough one.
- 1:59:23How injured San Francisco is, All right, Cincinnati versus
- 1:59:27Baltimore, so might be a while and a half to change.
- 1:59:30This is very dependent on if Lamar is going to play.
- 1:59:35As of now, I don't this official word.
- 1:59:41I think he's still just questionable.
- 1:59:44Let's see if we can find that. Let me go see if I can get the
- 1:59:46injury report here. He's questionable.
- 1:59:53I'm going to have to. I'll go with the Bengals for
- 1:59:55now. Might switch that one to the
- 1:59:57Ravens if Lamar's good to go. But I think since he's coming
- 2:00:00off the bye, good chance they win that one.
- 2:00:04Tampa Bay and Carolina, I'm going to go with Panthers.
- 2:00:08They're likely, you know, it's going to be an undrafted rookie
- 2:00:12in a rowdy Charlotte stadium. Houston against the Giants.
- 2:00:16Let's go with the Texans here. The Texans are getting a little
- 2:00:18momentum. I think they they keep it going.
- 2:00:21It's a Giants defense, it's been just getting picked apart.
- 2:00:24Indianapolis against Minnesota, got to go with the Vikings here.
- 2:00:28Can kind of see a lot of turnovers in this game for
- 2:00:30Daniel Jones. Dolphins versus Jets, I think
- 2:00:33The Jets gonna get right and the win here at home against the the
- 2:00:38Dolphins. Cleveland, TN got to go with the
- 2:00:40Browns and this one gonna take my Broncos even though they're
- 2:00:44on the road to take down the Arizona Cardinals.
- 2:00:47Detroit versus Green Bay, give me the Troy at home off the bye
- 2:00:50week. Still got some question works
- 2:00:52about this Packers defense. So Detroit's offense has been
- 2:00:56unreal this year. This game is going to be a
- 2:00:57shootout. Raiders versus the Rams, give me
- 2:01:05Los Angeles to get right here. Even with the Devante Adams
- 2:01:08injury, I think Matthew Stafford should be able to carve them up.
- 2:01:13Kansas City versus Seattle, I got a lot of questions about
- 2:01:17Seattle's offense. They're really having a hard
- 2:01:20time finding an effective run game.
- 2:01:23I think this, I think Kansas City comes into Seattle and
- 2:01:27shocks them on Sunday Night Football.
- 2:01:29Philadelphia versus Dallas. I'm going to just take Dallas to
- 2:01:32get right with the bat despite the back, their struggles,
- 2:01:36backup quarterback there and give me 52 total points scored
- 2:01:42in this game. All right, that's going to do it
- 2:01:45for the Week 7 picks. We've reached 10:00.
- 2:01:48That means we got to get off and sign off here.
- 2:01:52Thanks for watching another episode of the final time out
