Latest / Outspoken the Podcast / Chloe Szep’s Tradwife Rebrand
Transcript
- 0:02Speaker 1: Hello and welcome to Outspoken. It's your dose of the
- 0:05Speaker 1: hottest influencer and pop culture news twice a week. I'm
- 0:09Speaker 1: Sophie Torber and coming up on today's show, Chloe Zep's
- 0:12Speaker 1: trad wife rebrand, Tammy Hembrough's masterclass in diversion and Matt
- 0:18Speaker 1: Sikowsky's high profile date.
- 0:20Speaker 2: But first, it's official, Amy and Sophie, your maternity leave
- 0:23Speaker 2: is now over.
- 0:24Speaker 1: So we're all back. for 2026. It's very exciting to
- 0:27Speaker 1: have everyone back on the microphones. Yeah. I almost felt
- 0:29Speaker 1: like this day was never going to come. It's so
- 0:31Speaker 1: exciting to all be back together. It feels like almost
- 0:34Speaker 1: COVID times though, because we are recording remotely today. Yeah.
- 0:37Speaker 1: And I'm particularly excited to be recording with Sophie because
- 0:40Speaker 1: I don't think we've been properly recording together since what
- 0:42Speaker 1: was it being like eight months or something ridiculous. I
- 0:45Speaker 1: am kind of glad it is remotely because I'm redoing
- 0:48Speaker 1: my whole office. I'm trying to convince you guys to
- 0:50Speaker 1: all come around and record in here. I've bought a couch,
- 0:53Speaker 1: I've bought new cupboards and everything. But I've discovered that
- 0:56Speaker 1: there is some avocado dip still on the ceiling, Kate.
- 0:58Speaker 1: I think that was from one Ragefield recording when I
- 1:01Speaker 1: think Sophie and I were both pregnant. Emotions were high
- 1:04Speaker 1: that day. Somehow your avocado dip ended up on the ceiling,
- 1:07Speaker 1: on the wall. In saying that, I can actually understand
- 1:10Speaker 1: that Ragefield incident now because, I mean, Kate had a
- 1:12Speaker 1: baby at the time and the two of us, Amy,
- 1:14Speaker 1: we weren't being any fun.
- 1:16Speaker 2: Yeah, maybe I.
- 1:16Speaker 1: Should reflect on all the apology text messages I've received
- 1:19Speaker 1: over the last eight to nine months from you guys
- 1:21Speaker 1: when you're like, oh.
- 1:23Speaker 2: We get it. And also- I was having to deal
- 1:25Speaker 2: with two angry pregnant women at the same time. No
- 1:28Speaker 2: wonder I threw dip everywhere.
- 1:29Speaker 1: And to be fair, I don't think you're the only
- 1:31Speaker 1: person who's thrown something during a recording. Yeah. How about
- 1:34Speaker 1: Sophie shared over the holidays this clip? I think it
- 1:37Speaker 1: was from two years ago. And I think you were
- 1:40Speaker 1: pregnant in it, Kate, and you just lost it at
- 1:42Speaker 1: everybody because I think Sophie couldn't spit out her sentence.
- 1:45Speaker 1: And I was thinking, I can't believe we put this
- 1:47Speaker 1: on the internet. But then I was reading all the
- 1:49Speaker 1: comments and everyone was saying, Well, this is just what
- 1:52Speaker 1: having a sister is like. Well, in saying that, this
- 1:54Speaker 1: year one of our, I don't know if I'd say
- 1:56Speaker 1: New Year's resolutions, but something we want to do is
- 1:59Speaker 1: we want to start filming our episodes again because. I
- 2:01Speaker 1: thought you were going to say get along. We're going
- 2:04Speaker 1: into counselling. Our hope is, and I'm going to say
- 2:06Speaker 1: this on the mic so it actually happens, but our
- 2:08Speaker 1: hope is that we start putting up full episodes on YouTube.
- 2:12Speaker 2: We've got to compete with the big boys now. We do.
- 2:14Speaker 2: Everyone else seems to be doing it.
- 2:15Speaker 1: We do. Hence why I'm trying to convince you guys
- 2:18Speaker 1: to record at my house. I've got a lot of
- 2:19Speaker 1: video gear just lying around ready to record.
- 2:22Speaker 2: Off the back of that chat, I feel like it's
- 2:24Speaker 2: important for us to point out to our new listeners
- 2:26Speaker 2: because we did pick up a lot of new listeners
- 2:29Speaker 2: in 2025. Thank you so much for those people who
- 2:31Speaker 2: have joined us. We're actually triplets because there's a bit
- 2:34Speaker 2: of confusion. People are like, hang on, there's only two
- 2:36Speaker 2: of you and then sometimes you swap and you sound
- 2:37Speaker 2: the same and you've got the same last name.
- 2:40Speaker 1: We are triplets. I remember an early listener saying that
- 2:43Speaker 1: they like to imagine that it's just one person who's
- 2:45Speaker 1: having all these internal thoughts. But yes, we are triplets.
- 2:48Speaker 1: I'm trying to think of the best way to differentiate myself,
- 2:50Speaker 1: but I think it's more fun for one of you
- 2:52Speaker 1: guys to do it.
- 2:52Speaker 2: So if we were using the Spice Girls analogy, Sophie,
- 2:55Speaker 2: you would definitely be baby Spice. You are the youngest triplet.
- 2:57Speaker 2: You're also blonde. And you really play on being the
- 3:00Speaker 2: baby of the family. I mean, just last week, I
- 3:03Speaker 2: had to tell you what insurance to get for your
- 3:05Speaker 2: family cover because you just couldn't work it out for
- 3:07Speaker 2: the last eight months.
- 3:07Speaker 1: She's asking me this too. Well, I just sent her
- 3:10Speaker 1: exactly what I got. Those things are a struggle. Those
- 3:12Speaker 1: things are a struggle.
- 3:14Speaker 2: And if you're at a restaurant with Sophie, she will
- 3:16Speaker 2: just copy your order every single time. Amy, you would
- 3:19Speaker 2: be sporty Spice. You've always been the, I suppose, more
- 3:22Speaker 2: athletic one out of all of us, the one that's
- 3:24Speaker 2: better at sport.
- 3:25Speaker 1: You're also very quirky. So you would be like Phoebe
- 3:27Speaker 1: from Friends and Sophie would be Rachel Green. I'd say
- 3:30Speaker 1: I'm Monica. Yeah, because you're bossy as fuck. You're very bossy.
- 3:34Speaker 1: You're first born. You have really gone into that role
- 3:37Speaker 1: of being the eldest sibling, even though there's only a
- 3:39Speaker 1: couple of minutes between us. you always think you're right
- 3:43Speaker 1: as well, which I think a lot of people will
- 3:44Speaker 1: pick up on in this episode. And the annoying thing
- 3:46Speaker 1: is a lot of the time you are. I think
- 3:48Speaker 1: aside from being triplets, what makes this podcast different is
- 3:51Speaker 1: the fact that we are also all journalists. So Sophie
- 3:53Speaker 1: and I used to work at Seven News. Kate used
- 3:56Speaker 1: to work in the sports media space.
- 3:58Speaker 2: Yeah, and it's quite funny because when we started out,
- 3:59Speaker 2: we were told that we would never work together. And
- 4:02Speaker 2: you and Sophie really proved everyone wrong working together at Seven.
- 4:06Speaker 2: We now, of course, have this podcast together. And it's
- 4:08Speaker 2: actually a dream come true.
- 4:09Speaker 1: To work together, I think. I mean, We joke about
- 4:11Speaker 1: all the arguments we have, but I feel pretty blessed.
- 4:14Speaker 1: This podcast is in its seventh year now. We've clocked
- 4:16Speaker 1: up 18 million downloads. So thank you for the people
- 4:19Speaker 1: that have been there from the start listening, the OGs.
- 4:21Speaker 1: They know who they are. Hashtag blessed, Kate, as you said.
- 4:25Speaker 1: Chloe Zepp's transformation from fitness influencer to trad wife is official.
- 4:30Speaker 1: On New Year's Eve, the OG influencer launched a controversial
- 4:34Speaker 1: sub stack where she urged women to return to homemaking. Now, Kate,
- 4:38Speaker 1: this latest revelation comes almost a year after Chloe shut
- 4:41Speaker 1: down her business, Zep.
- 4:42Speaker 2: Yeah, it was just last April that Chloe shocked her
- 4:45Speaker 2: followers when she announced that she was shutting down her
- 4:47Speaker 2: successful activewear label. And at the time, it was unclear
- 4:51Speaker 2: what led to the decision. It wasn't until August that
- 4:54Speaker 2: Chloe opened up more about the reason behind the closure.
- 4:58Speaker 2: So at the time, she said that she just didn't
- 5:00Speaker 2: have the capacity to run the business at the same
- 5:02Speaker 2: time as looking after her two young sons. And she
- 5:05Speaker 2: admitted that she had cried for a month after shutting
- 5:08Speaker 2: down the business and had daily thoughts about bringing it back,
- 5:11Speaker 2: but conceded it was unrealistic at the time. It turns
- 5:14Speaker 2: out that investors were interested in the activewear brand, but
- 5:17Speaker 2: at the time, Chloe was feeling burnt out and overwhelmed.
- 5:19Speaker 1: It doesn't surprise me that investors were interested. I know
- 5:22Speaker 1: she had that brief period in 2020 where she was
- 5:26Speaker 1: cancelled as we've touched on a number of times, but
- 5:28Speaker 1: I think that her consumers actually loved her activewear. A
- 5:31Speaker 1: lot of people bought it because it was good quality
- 5:34Speaker 1: and they liked the styles, not necessarily because it was
- 5:36Speaker 1: her brand. Well, Chloe actually went into more detail about
- 5:39Speaker 1: why she closed down Zep and this was in her
- 5:41Speaker 1: newly launched sub stack. So she said the decision actually
- 5:44Speaker 1: came from God who wanted her to return to work
- 5:47Speaker 1: in the home rather than for her business. In a
- 5:50Speaker 1: lengthy post on the blogging platform, she wrote, First, get
- 5:53Speaker 1: your home in order before anything else because everything else
- 5:56Speaker 1: flows from it. When I felt God pushing me from
- 5:59Speaker 1: being a business owner into the home, the adjustment was hard.
- 6:02Speaker 1: I had a full-time housekeeper five days a week managing
- 6:05Speaker 1: my home when I had my first son. I had cleaners.
- 6:08Speaker 1: I would get other people to do my washing. I
- 6:10Speaker 1: became lazy. And when this shift happened, being called back
- 6:14Speaker 1: into the home, it was so hard to get my
- 6:16Speaker 1: home orderly. But let me tell you, when you do,
- 6:19Speaker 1: you realize why God wants you in your home. It
- 6:21Speaker 1: brings you peace. The chores give you time to order
- 6:24Speaker 1: your thoughts, your life, and your family. You can pray
- 6:27Speaker 1: over your home, partner, and children, and while you clean.
- 6:30Speaker 1: You can create beauty in your home. You can ponder
- 6:33Speaker 1: on the meals you'd like to make for your family
- 6:35Speaker 1: to nourish them. You can be intentional, and it brings
- 6:38Speaker 1: so much joy to your heart. Before I had all
- 6:40Speaker 1: the cleaners and homekeepers, but no peace, no groundedness. I
- 6:43Speaker 1: felt disordered. Thank you, Jesus, for pulling me back to
- 6:46Speaker 1: the home. It was from reading the Bible that I
- 6:48Speaker 1: got this revelation, which is why obedience is important. Everyone
- 6:53Speaker 1: else thought I was silly for closing down a successful business,
- 6:56Speaker 1: but God knows better always.
- 6:58Speaker 2: I mean, didn't she think she was silly? She said
- 7:00Speaker 2: she cried for months after. I was pretty taken aback
- 7:03Speaker 2: by this post from Chloe.
- 7:04Speaker 1: I can see why she only has seven subscribers on
- 7:07Speaker 1: her sub stack. I don't think that that is the
- 7:09Speaker 1: most relatable piece of content out there. Can you imagine
- 7:12Speaker 1: being in a financial position that you could just shut
- 7:15Speaker 1: down your business just so that you can have an
- 7:18Speaker 1: orderly cleaning schedule in your home? I get the whole
- 7:20Speaker 1: thing about maybe giving advice of, you know, your kids
- 7:23Speaker 1: are only young once, you should try and spend more
- 7:25Speaker 1: time with them. I get all of those kinds of sentiments.
- 7:28Speaker 1: But why should we as women be told that we
- 7:29Speaker 1: should be staying home to clean our fucking houses? Like
- 7:32Speaker 1: the fact that she was able to have a cleaner
- 7:34Speaker 1: because of the success of her influencing career and also
- 7:37Speaker 1: the success of Zep. That is amazing. She still spent
- 7:40Speaker 1: a lot of time with her children. She was living
- 7:42Speaker 1: the best of both worlds. But that's also new information.
- 7:45Speaker 1: The fact that she had a housekeeper and a cleaner
- 7:47Speaker 1: and all of these things were in motion because we
- 7:50Speaker 1: never saw any of that on her YouTube channel.
- 7:52Speaker 2: I mean, obviously this has all come about because Chloe
- 7:55Speaker 2: and Mitch in the last couple of years have found God.
- 7:58Speaker 2: But this is the first time I've seen Chloe really
- 8:01Speaker 2: preaching her way of life to her followers. I mean, Sophie,
- 8:04Speaker 2: you joked that she only had seven followers. We touched
- 8:07Speaker 2: on that. I think it was in a subs episode.
- 8:09Speaker 2: She actually now has 262 sub stack subscribers. But when
- 8:13Speaker 2: you consider she's got 541,000 Instagram followers, Not a lot
- 8:17Speaker 2: of people going over to subscribe.
- 8:20Speaker 1: Yeah, but that's because she has become irrelevant. Unfortunately, I
- 8:23Speaker 1: shared these thoughts in our subs episode, but since 2020
- 8:27Speaker 1: and her cancellation, she hasn't been sharing regular content. So
- 8:31Speaker 1: of course that's what is going to happen. People are
- 8:33Speaker 1: going to lose interest in your life. They're not engaged anymore,
- 8:37Speaker 1: particularly because her audience is weren't really interested in her
- 8:41Speaker 1: life with God. You know what I mean? I wouldn't
- 8:43Speaker 1: say that she had a religious crowd.
- 8:44Speaker 2: Interested in her before. Do you think that maybe she's
- 8:46Speaker 2: more comfortable posting these type of controversial messages on her
- 8:50Speaker 2: sub stack to her most dedicated fans rather than on Instagram?
- 8:54Speaker 2: Because it's clear she's trying to relaunch herself to a
- 8:57Speaker 2: new audience.
- 8:58Speaker 1: She's clearly seen the success of influencers like Nara Smith
- 9:02Speaker 1: and thought, hey, I want in on that. People are
- 9:04Speaker 1: buying into that now. What a particular crowd of people
- 9:07Speaker 1: are buying into that. It is really interesting. to watch
- 9:10Speaker 1: the evolution of Chloe and Mitch because Chloe started out
- 9:14Speaker 1: as this beloved teenage vlogger. She was besties with Shiny
- 9:18Speaker 1: Groom and that's essentially how she grew her following. And
- 9:21Speaker 1: when she started dating Mitch, they became this really lovable,
- 9:24Speaker 1: fun couple and they were into partying and fitness. I
- 9:28Speaker 1: wouldn't say that they were the religious type. As you said, Kate,
- 9:31Speaker 1: they found God afterwards. But things really changed in 2020
- 9:35Speaker 1: when they were cancelled for sharing their anti-vax views. And
- 9:38Speaker 1: since then, they've been relatively quiet. I think that they
- 9:41Speaker 1: have been scared to share too much about their lives
- 9:44Speaker 1: and also about their religious views. And I really think
- 9:47Speaker 1: that this move to Substack signifies a big shift. This
- 9:51Speaker 1: is a rebrand for the couple. Why does it remind
- 9:54Speaker 1: me of those TikToks where it's like, when I was
- 9:56Speaker 1: a teenager, I used to drink mother energy drinks and
- 9:59Speaker 1: maybe take an ecstasy tablet at a nightclub. And then
- 10:02Speaker 1: suddenly I won't have dairy milk.
- 10:06Speaker 2: It's interesting though, because Chloe and Mitch's actions in the
- 10:09Speaker 2: past year or so have actually more pointed towards an
- 10:12Speaker 2: end to their influencing careers and more of a private life.
- 10:15Speaker 2: Last year, they moved from the Gold Coast to Newcastle
- 10:18Speaker 2: and Mitch started a nine to five job as a carer.
- 10:21Speaker 2: And you could see Chloe pulling away. She didn't really
- 10:25Speaker 2: know her space online, but it seems like this lifestyle
- 10:28Speaker 2: change has instead been a bit of a launching pad
- 10:31Speaker 2: for this rebrand.
- 10:32Speaker 1: Well, as we touched on last year, there was some
- 10:34Speaker 1: discussion that they were going to start up a family
- 10:37Speaker 1: vlogging channel on the request of their two kids. pretty
- 10:40Speaker 1: much like Brodie Moss's adventure channel where they go out
- 10:44Speaker 1: to different beaches and it's a very, I suppose, wholesome vibe.
- 10:48Speaker 1: Is it just me or is it pretty ironic that
- 10:50Speaker 1: Chloe's return to home has now coincided with this urge
- 10:53Speaker 1: to return to content creation? Because it's this irony that
- 10:57Speaker 1: underpins the whole online trad wife culture. So these women
- 11:00Speaker 1: promote this lifestyle of, oh, you know, I'm being a
- 11:03Speaker 1: trad wife and you've got to stay at home and
- 11:05Speaker 1: look after your husband and kids. But they're actually doing
- 11:07Speaker 1: the exact opposite because their role becomes content creator and
- 11:11Speaker 1: they make money from portraying this trad wife life online.
- 11:15Speaker 1: Do we also think that maybe since their popularity dropped
- 11:19Speaker 1: and they haven't been making as many deals, perhaps they
- 11:21Speaker 1: couldn't afford the cleaners and the housekeeper? Maybe that's where
- 11:25Speaker 1: they saw this sign from God that she should return home.
- 11:28Speaker 1: And now they're like, hold on a second, we need
- 11:29Speaker 1: to start making some money again. Let's start filming this shit.
- 11:32Speaker 2: Well, I mean, potentially, I think the money has dropped
- 11:35Speaker 2: off now that Mitch has a nine to five and
- 11:36Speaker 2: Chloe isn't running ZEP. But I do think that she
- 11:39Speaker 2: made that decision because she was led by God to
- 11:42Speaker 2: do so. Because at that point, she could have got
- 11:46Speaker 2: investors involved in ZEP. She was obviously making enough money
- 11:49Speaker 2: to pay for all of these cleaners. So I think
- 11:50Speaker 2: it's sort of a result of the fact that she
- 11:53Speaker 2: turned her back on this successful activewear line that she's
- 11:56Speaker 2: now having to monetize this trad wife content I mean
- 11:59Speaker 2: she's not doing it for free to subscribe to Chloe's
- 12:02Speaker 2: sub stack is $ 12 a month or $ 120.
- 12:04Speaker 1: A year again I do question who is paying for
- 12:08Speaker 1: this in this not many people in this cost of
- 12:11Speaker 1: living crisis who is spending $ 120 a year subscribing to
- 12:15Speaker 1: that garbage I'm sorry when.
- 12:17Speaker 2: I was looking through the free posts that were available
- 12:19Speaker 2: to look at it almost feels like Chloe's app is
- 12:23Speaker 2: just desperate to return to, quote, the good old days
- 12:26Speaker 2: of Instagram where you didn't really have to put much
- 12:28Speaker 2: of an effort in and people weren't really questioning everything
- 12:32Speaker 2: you post because she was sharing all of these photos
- 12:35Speaker 2: of her family meals. So she posted a photo of
- 12:38Speaker 2: her sons eating from this big bowl of fruit with
- 12:40Speaker 2: the caption, summer, seasonal fruits for cleansing and deep cellular hydration,
- 12:45Speaker 2: fresh salads with cucumbers and lemons. And then she also
- 12:47Speaker 2: posted this photo of her meal and wrote, Greeks do
- 12:49Speaker 2: it best, fish, chicken, steak, salads, lots of salts in water,
- 12:53Speaker 2: to hydrate swimming and salty oceans. These are all the
- 12:56Speaker 2: answers to the glorious heat of the sun.
- 12:58Speaker 1: This does all feel very 2011. And I think if
- 13:01Speaker 1: she is to regain any relevance in the influencer world,
- 13:04Speaker 1: she needs to step up her content and start daily vlogging,
- 13:08Speaker 1: creating engaging videos. I don't think these photos are going
- 13:11Speaker 1: to cut it, unfortunately.
- 13:12Speaker 2: I think this is going to be a bit of
- 13:14Speaker 2: a trend though, for influencers to move across to Substack
- 13:16Speaker 2: to try and get some money from their followers. This week,
- 13:19Speaker 2: we saw Bella Messina shut down her subscription channel on Instagram.
- 13:24Speaker 2: She's actually now the number one person to follow in
- 13:26Speaker 2: Australia on Substack. And she said the reason she moved
- 13:29Speaker 2: across was because Substack don't take such a massive portion
- 13:32Speaker 2: like Meta do.
- 13:33Speaker 1: Tammy Hembrough has given a masterclass in diversion over the
- 13:37Speaker 1: festive period, despite dropping a bomb that her activewear brand
- 13:40Speaker 1: was shutting down. All anyone could talk about was her
- 13:44Speaker 1: love life. Kate, can you tell us more?
- 13:46Speaker 2: Well, Tammy has definitely been working in overdrive to divert
- 13:49Speaker 2: attention away from the shock closure of Sasky. Let's start
- 13:53Speaker 2: at the beginning. So just as rumors began to emerge
- 13:56Speaker 2: that Sasky Collection was shutting down, Tammy tackled them head on.
- 14:01Speaker 2: So from her car, she released an official statement on
- 14:04Speaker 2: her Instagram announcing that she had made the decision to
- 14:06Speaker 2: shut down her activewear brand eight years after its launch
- 14:10Speaker 2: and Now, Tammy didn't provide an explanation as to why
- 14:13Speaker 2: the business was closing. Instead, she thanked her followers for
- 14:16Speaker 2: their support and teased that something exciting was coming in
- 14:20Speaker 2: its place.
- 14:21Speaker 1: I remember I kept seeing persistent rumors on Influencer Updates
- 14:24Speaker 1: AU that something was happening with Sasky. There are a
- 14:28Speaker 1: lot of people who are sliding into Amber's DMs saying,
- 14:31Speaker 1: can you look into this because it just doesn't seem
- 14:33Speaker 1: right at the moment. Yeah.
- 14:34Speaker 2: I mean, it was clear when you watched the video
- 14:36Speaker 2: that the announcement was very rushed. They were trying to
- 14:39Speaker 2: get on top of this story that was developing. I mean,
- 14:41Speaker 2: another clue that it was rushed is the fact that
- 14:43Speaker 2: there was no closing down sale either. So instead, the
- 14:46Speaker 2: Sasky website was shut down and password protected as of
- 14:50Speaker 2: Tammy's announcement going out. The Instagram account had also been
- 14:53Speaker 2: inactive for two weeks.
- 14:55Speaker 1: I mean- I'm not surprised. I don't think I have
- 14:58Speaker 1: ever seen anyone in the world wearing Sasky.
- 15:01Speaker 2: No, I always wondered who was buying it as well.
- 15:04Speaker 1: I saw a couple of people writing in when Influencer
- 15:07Speaker 1: Updates was posting about this potential closure saying, hey, I'm
- 15:10Speaker 1: from the Gold Coast and I literally don't see anyone
- 15:14Speaker 1: wearing her activewear here, even though this is where she's from.
- 15:16Speaker 1: I mean, I wonder if maybe Tammy does have a
- 15:19Speaker 1: large American audience. Are there people rocking Sasky over there?
- 15:23Speaker 1: Who knows?
- 15:24Speaker 2: Even though I've never seen anyone wearing it, I didn't
- 15:26Speaker 2: think it was unsuccessful. As you said, potentially it could
- 15:29Speaker 2: have been really successful internationally. They always seem to be
- 15:32Speaker 2: doing new drops, new marketing campaigns. And what made things
- 15:36Speaker 2: even more confusing is the fact that Tammy had been
- 15:38Speaker 2: working with Shopify in late November, talking about how the
- 15:42Speaker 2: e-commerce platform had helped her launch Sasky back in the day.
- 15:45Speaker 2: So she mentioned that she uses Shopify for Sasky and
- 15:48Speaker 2: that they had just launched their new Espresso collection on
- 15:51Speaker 2: the website. How awkward.
- 15:53Speaker 1: Similar to Zep. It's interesting in this case that Tammy
- 15:56Speaker 1: didn't sell Sasky to an investor. Yeah, exactly.
- 15:59Speaker 2: So this points to something a bit more going on
- 16:02Speaker 2: behind the scenes. And the plot thickened when Influencer Updates
- 16:06Speaker 2: AU shared a photo of an alleged eviction notice pinned
- 16:09Speaker 2: to the Sasky office door a day after Tammy's announcement.
- 16:13Speaker 2: So in the image, the document read, Notice of Leaser,
- 16:16Speaker 2: Termination Lease and Taking Possession of Premises. The notice was
- 16:20Speaker 2: addressed to Sasky Collection, PTYLTD and Tammy Natasha Hembrough, the guarantor,
- 16:25Speaker 2: and alleged the business owed $ 27, 000 in unpaid rent.
- 16:30Speaker 1: Now, the Sydney Morning Herald picked up on the scoop
- 16:32Speaker 1: and they reached out to Tammy for a comment. Funnily enough,
- 16:35Speaker 1: it was Tammy's manager, Sean Anderson, who responded on her behalf,
- 16:39Speaker 1: denying the allegations. Now, for context, He is the bald
- 16:43Speaker 1: older gentleman who she was papped getting cozy with after
- 16:47Speaker 1: a showpo event back in December. So when asked about
- 16:50Speaker 1: the notice, Sean responded saying, all the matters are in dispute.
- 16:54Speaker 1: There is no rent outstanding. There is absolutely no truth
- 16:57Speaker 1: to that. As the matters are legal in nature, no
- 17:00Speaker 1: further comment will be made. So it does appear as
- 17:03Speaker 1: though Tammy is disputing that her company owes rent.
- 17:06Speaker 2: The timing of this is all very interesting. While Tammy
- 17:09Speaker 2: is denying that she doesn't owe rent, she has basically
- 17:12Speaker 2: acknowledged that the notice does exist and that she is
- 17:16Speaker 2: disputing it.
- 17:17Speaker 1: So it appears that it's likely the business shut down
- 17:20Speaker 1: due to financial issues, which has created even more confusion
- 17:24Speaker 1: because Tammy has been pretty transparent about her wealth. I mean,
- 17:28Speaker 1: She was featured in the Australian Financial Review's Young Rich
- 17:31Speaker 1: List last year, and she ranked number 90 with an
- 17:34Speaker 1: estimated fortune of $ 58 million. So I'm pretty sure she'd
- 17:37Speaker 1: have $ 27, 000 floating around to pay that rent.
- 17:40Speaker 2: Well, the thing is, though, when it comes to those
- 17:42Speaker 2: type of personal evaluations, the AFR includes a range of
- 17:46Speaker 2: different wealth markers. So they look at your assets, investments, property, brand, equity,
- 17:51Speaker 2: all of that type of stuff. So it's not like Tammy.
- 17:54Speaker 1: Actually has $ 58 million sitting in cold hard cash in
- 17:59Speaker 1: her bank account. And it's likely that Sasky was operating
- 18:03Speaker 1: with a pretty tight cash flow like a lot of
- 18:05Speaker 1: other small businesses. And ultimately, it just wasn't making enough sales.
- 18:09Speaker 1: It is pretty common in this type of situation for
- 18:11Speaker 1: a business to stop paying ongoing costs like rent once
- 18:15Speaker 1: they cease trading and their.
- 18:17Speaker 2: Stocks are sold or written down. So I think the
- 18:19Speaker 2: way the business has been set up as a PTYLTD
- 18:23Speaker 2: It means that Tammy doesn't have to legally pay out
- 18:25Speaker 2: the outstanding fees if there were any.
- 18:28Speaker 1: It's interesting to take a look at the other businesses
- 18:30Speaker 1: that Tammy still owns. So she has her fitness app,
- 18:33Speaker 1: Tammy Fit, which she does flog a lot on her
- 18:36Speaker 1: Instagram story. Whenever I see her on her stories, I'm like, oh,
- 18:39Speaker 1: what's she talking about? It's always a new program that
- 18:42Speaker 1: she's doing with that app. She also recently launched Selfish
- 18:46Speaker 1: Supps last year with her sisters, Emily and Amy and
- 18:49Speaker 1: It'll be interesting to see how that is going.
- 18:51Speaker 2: I'm pretty interested to see if a new business pops up.
- 18:54Speaker 2: It seems like that's what she was teasing in the
- 18:55Speaker 2: closure video. And she could do what a lot of
- 18:58Speaker 2: businesses do and launch another activewear range under a new
- 19:02Speaker 2: entity and avoid paying off any of those debts that
- 19:05Speaker 2: she potentially could have had.
- 19:06Speaker 1: It's very clear that Tammy wants to move on from
- 19:08Speaker 1: this because she has hidden the closure post on her
- 19:11Speaker 1: personal Instagram account. It is still on Sasky's page, but
- 19:15Speaker 1: I mean, who's really going there now that the business
- 19:17Speaker 1: has closed down?
- 19:18Speaker 2: And what made it even more apparent that she was
- 19:20Speaker 2: trying to divert attention away from the closure of Sasky
- 19:23Speaker 2: is the fact that 24 hours later, she posted a
- 19:26Speaker 2: selfie to her Instagram story with her ex-flame, Bailey Smith.
- 19:30Speaker 2: So in the photo, she looked at the camera quite seductively,
- 19:33Speaker 2: I would say, with her tongue resting on her top lip,
- 19:36Speaker 2: while Bailey held a coffee in his hand and pouted.
- 19:39Speaker 2: So Tammy captioned the post, twin, and tagged Bailey. Not
- 19:44Speaker 2: long after, Bailey reshared the post and he mentioned that
- 19:47Speaker 2: they had been filming something.
- 19:49Speaker 1: There were a lot of people getting that this was
- 19:51Speaker 1: an ad for Tinder. And of course, Tinder did then
- 19:54Speaker 1: roll out a series of ads with the pair playing
- 19:56Speaker 1: up about their fling. So they were saying that they're
- 19:58Speaker 1: not mates and that they're going to be each other's
- 20:01Speaker 1: Tinder coaches. In the first video, Tammy was sitting in
- 20:04Speaker 1: her car and she was telling the camera that the
- 20:06Speaker 1: rumours were true about a certain athlete. Then all of
- 20:10Speaker 1: a sudden, a bicep appeared behind her, followed by the
- 20:13Speaker 1: owner of the bicep, which was, of course, Bailey Smith.
- 20:17Speaker 1: She then went on to say that now they're just mates.
- 20:19Speaker 1: They're going to be each other's Tinder coaches. Tammy even
- 20:22Speaker 1: collaborated on the post with Tinder. So I would love
- 20:25Speaker 1: to know how much she charged for this.
- 20:27Speaker 2: Well, the video got over 2.8 million views. So it
- 20:29Speaker 2: was a massive win for Tinder. Bailey also did a
- 20:32Speaker 2: similar video where it was more of his perspective. That
- 20:35Speaker 2: video got 1.4 million views. I felt like there was
- 20:38Speaker 2: a lot of chemistry between the pair in the car videos,
- 20:41Speaker 2: but that didn't translate over to the studio. So they
- 20:44Speaker 2: filmed a bunch of videos in this studio. It was
- 20:47Speaker 2: like a makeshift.
- 20:48Speaker 1: Gym and it was so bad. The acting, I'm sorry,
- 20:52Speaker 1: Tammy and Bailey was so cringe. And there was also
- 20:55Speaker 1: a lot of commentary about how bad the lighting was.
- 20:58Speaker 2: A lot of people were saying, is that Tammy Hembrough?
- 21:00Speaker 2: It does not look like her or how she presents
- 21:02Speaker 2: herself on her own social media channels.
- 21:04Speaker 1: They didn't both dirty with the lighting and I don't
- 21:06Speaker 1: think it was reflective of what each of them actually
- 21:09Speaker 1: looks like. I don't understand why some photo shoot locations
- 21:12Speaker 1: have such appalling lighting.
- 21:14Speaker 2: Yeah, particularly when people are wanting to look good in
- 21:16Speaker 2: that moment. The lighting kind of reminded me of when
- 21:19Speaker 2: you go to Rebel Sport to try on clothes and
- 21:22Speaker 2: the lighting is just so appalling that you just don't
- 21:24Speaker 2: want to buy anything.
- 21:25Speaker 1: It's the down lights. It's the down lights. Never put
- 21:27Speaker 1: down lights in a change room. Instantly, you don't want
- 21:29Speaker 1: to buy the clothes.
- 21:31Speaker 2: I think they were going for a bit of a
- 21:32Speaker 2: retro vibe. Both of them were really done up with
- 21:35Speaker 2: a lot of heavy makeup, but the actual effect came
- 21:38Speaker 2: out looking quite cheap and the feedback was incredibly harsh online.
- 21:42Speaker 2: Someone wrote, cringe. Another person said, this is horrific. Someone said,
- 21:46Speaker 2: this is the worst thing I've ever watched.
- 21:48Speaker 1: It reminded me of those infomercials from back in the 90s,
- 21:51Speaker 1: that sort of cheesy Like it was supposed to be cheesy,
- 21:55Speaker 1: but they weren't actually thinking that this is great acting.
- 21:58Speaker 2: I mean, they were obviously trying to make light of
- 22:01Speaker 2: the situation and take the piss out of themselves. But
- 22:03Speaker 2: I think the acting let them down in that regard.
- 22:06Speaker 2: I was surprised Tinder didn't moderate the comments because they
- 22:09Speaker 2: were so harsh. But I think that was probably a
- 22:12Speaker 2: part of Tinder's strategy to drive that engagement. They knew
- 22:14Speaker 2: that people were going to make negative comments and that's
- 22:17Speaker 2: why they haven't deleted them. It was pretty funny because
- 22:20Speaker 2: influencer Simone Anderson weighed in writing fab ad And someone
- 22:24Speaker 2: replied saying, don't lie, to which Simone replied, that paycheck
- 22:28Speaker 2: is definitely no joke. I love when someone can make
- 22:30Speaker 2: an absurd amount of money and still laugh at themselves
- 22:32Speaker 2: along the way. I would love to know how much
- 22:34Speaker 2: they got paid.
- 22:35Speaker 1: It would be very interesting if anyone works for Tinder
- 22:38Speaker 1: and knows, please slide into our DMs and let us know.
- 22:40Speaker 2: It would have to be in the six figures in
- 22:42Speaker 2: order to make that worthwhile for them, surely, because it
- 22:45Speaker 2: was just embarrassing.
- 22:46Speaker 1: Well, the diversions from Tammy continued because two days after
- 22:50Speaker 1: teasing Bailey Smith on her Instagram stories, She then posted
- 22:54Speaker 1: photos with her ex-fiancee, Reese Hawkins, on Snapchat. She seems
- 22:57Speaker 1: to just roll Reese out whenever she needs to have
- 23:00Speaker 1: a bit of a distraction. And he is, of course,
- 23:02Speaker 1: fresh from his breakup with fitness influencer Liv Kelly. Now,
- 23:07Speaker 1: in the video, Reese was sipping on wine and he
- 23:10Speaker 1: was sitting on Tammy's patio at nighttime. He looked sheepish
- 23:14Speaker 1: when he noticed that Tammy was filming him and he
- 23:16Speaker 1: covered his face as Tammy laughed and said, hi, everyone,
- 23:20Speaker 1: and waved his hand. Now, Tammy captioned the post, mom
- 23:23Speaker 1: and dad.
- 23:24Speaker 2: I love how dedicated people are because there were some
- 23:26Speaker 2: super sleuths that noticed that Reese was drinking from Matt
- 23:29Speaker 2: Sikowsky's monogrammed wine glass because it had a little MZ
- 23:33Speaker 2: on it.
- 23:34Speaker 1: Why do I feel like this is some sort of
- 23:35Speaker 1: Easter egg that Tammy Hembrough has planted? I don't think
- 23:38Speaker 1: that this happened by chance. I think that this was
- 23:40Speaker 1: very strategic in nature.
- 23:42Speaker 2: I mean, the whole thing has been strategic. She has
- 23:44Speaker 2: given a masterclass in distraction and has proven why she
- 23:47Speaker 2: continues to say So influential, despite a lot of the
- 23:51Speaker 2: controversies that surround her.
- 23:52Speaker 1: I mean, to show how popular this clip was, we
- 23:55Speaker 1: actually reshared the vision on our Instagram account and we
- 23:58Speaker 1: got over 700,000 views on it. Tammy even commented on
- 24:02Speaker 1: the video writing, it's really not that deep, guys, with
- 24:05Speaker 1: a laughing face. We have two kids together and we
- 24:07Speaker 1: are friends. That is always her response. It's always like,
- 24:10Speaker 1: it's not that deep, everyone. Stop being obsessed with me
- 24:13Speaker 1: when it's like you know exactly what you were doing.
- 24:15Speaker 2: Well, it's interesting because this week the Gold Coast Bulletin
- 24:17Speaker 2: and Daily Telegraph have run with headlines of a Tammy
- 24:20Speaker 2: and Rhys reunion. So the publication referenced whispers from sources
- 24:24Speaker 2: close to Tammy. So apparently they've rekindled their romance and
- 24:28Speaker 2: Rhys has been spotted spending a considerable amount of time
- 24:31Speaker 2: at Tammy's house and staying overnight.
- 24:34Speaker 1: Do we actually believe that they have rekindled their romance
- 24:38Speaker 1: or do we think that they're just co-parenting and they're
- 24:40Speaker 1: doing this for attention?
- 24:41Speaker 2: Well, it is school holidays, so Reese is likely spending
- 24:44Speaker 2: some time with his children. But it is a bit
- 24:47Speaker 2: unusual that he's staying overnight there. I mean, I don't
- 24:50Speaker 2: think that's happened in the past.
- 24:53Speaker 1: Seven months on from his divorce, Tammy Hembrough's ex, Matt Zukowski,
- 24:56Speaker 1: says he's ready to open up about his dating life
- 24:59Speaker 1: again on his podcast. The former Love Islander already seems
- 25:03Speaker 1: to be making quite the impression, admitting to his co-host
- 25:06Speaker 1: Anna McAvoy that one of his first dates has already
- 25:09Speaker 1: gone viral on TikTok. Let's take a listen. I've been
- 25:13Speaker 1: on a couple of movie dates. Yeah, and I'm excited
- 25:16Speaker 1: to hear about them in future episodes. A couple of dates,
- 25:18Speaker 1: people making TikToks about dates I've been on with them.
- 25:21Speaker 1: There's a lot going on. Matt did send me a
- 25:23Speaker 1: TikTok of a girl and she made a TikTok about
- 25:26Speaker 1: their first date and I was like, wow, it's happening.
- 25:30Speaker 1: It was quite funny actually. I'm excited to watch this unfold.
- 25:33Speaker 1: It went viral as well. Did it?
- 25:34Speaker 2: Yeah, no one knows it's me.
- 25:37Speaker 1: That is so funny.
- 25:39Speaker 2: I'm very disappointed because this has yet to pop up
- 25:42Speaker 2: on my For You page and I am desperate to
- 25:44Speaker 2: watch it. and find out what Matt did wrong on
- 25:47Speaker 2: this first date.
- 25:48Speaker 1: I have gone searching for this on TikTok and I've
- 25:51Speaker 1: typed in like viral first date, like embarrassing first date.
- 25:55Speaker 1: It sounds like this was a movie date. So I
- 25:56Speaker 1: tried the term movie date, but I could not come
- 25:58Speaker 1: across it. If anyone has seen this video or is suspicious,
- 26:03Speaker 1: and they think perhaps this is about Matt Sikowski, please
- 26:06Speaker 1: send it our way. DM us. I reckon it could
- 26:08Speaker 1: have something to do with him being cheap because remember
- 26:10Speaker 1: there was that Yochi date that went viral? Those are
- 26:13Speaker 1: the type of videos that tend to go in people's algorithms.
- 26:16Speaker 2: Yeah, it's funny because when I heard him first talking
- 26:18Speaker 2: about it, I was like, oh my gosh, has someone
- 26:20Speaker 2: else gone– name dropping that they've got on a first
- 26:22Speaker 2: date with Matt. Remember that Adelaide girl that sent everyone
- 26:25Speaker 2: into a flurry over it, but no, it has been
- 26:27Speaker 2: referenced anonymously, which I think he was quite grateful for.
- 26:30Speaker 1: I think this year of their podcast is going to
- 26:32Speaker 1: be interesting though, because Anna promised listeners that she will
- 26:36Speaker 1: be getting Matt to dig deep into his dating life.
- 26:40Speaker 1: And he said that he already has some quite funny
- 26:42Speaker 1: stories to share. And it sounds like he has quite
- 26:44Speaker 1: a few different girls on the go. He did chat
- 26:48Speaker 1: about a first date that he went on with someone
- 26:51Speaker 1: else who has a public profile. So ahead of this
- 26:54Speaker 1: date with the mystery woman, he said that he called
- 26:56Speaker 1: up a wine bar to ask if they could put
- 26:59Speaker 1: him at a discreet table in the corner. Wouldn't you
- 27:02Speaker 1: feel like the biggest wanker doing that? Because often it
- 27:05Speaker 1: is older people that own these wine bars and they
- 27:08Speaker 1: probably have no idea who Matt Zukowski is. Well, he
- 27:10Speaker 1: said that the person on the phone seemed quite confused
- 27:12Speaker 1: and was like, Sorry, what? I'm very, very famous and
- 27:16Speaker 1: I need to be sat far away from everybody.
- 27:18Speaker 2: Maybe he was fishing for some freebies as well. I'm
- 27:20Speaker 2: very important and I need to be sat away from people,
- 27:23Speaker 2: but I can have a lot of free wine.
- 27:24Speaker 1: Have you seen those cringe Tinder ads? Well, that's my ex-wife.
- 27:27Speaker 1: And so I need to be sat somewhere away because
- 27:29Speaker 1: people are going to take photos of me. It was
- 27:31Speaker 1: quite funny because Anna was like, oh, did your date
- 27:33Speaker 1: get it? And he's like, Yes, she understands because she's
- 27:36Speaker 1: in the same boat as me. She is also in
- 27:39Speaker 1: the public eye. Surely that confirms that he's on Raya.
- 27:42Speaker 1: I mean, he's obviously not on Tinder. He doesn't want
- 27:44Speaker 1: to see Tammy on there.
- 27:45Speaker 2: When I heard that they were both in the public eye,
- 27:47Speaker 2: I more thought they probably tipped off the paparazzi. They're
- 27:49Speaker 2: desperate to be seen together to make a headline.
- 27:51Speaker 1: Are we guessing it's some kind of E-grade bachelor contestant?
- 27:55Speaker 1: I went to look at who he's following because he's
- 27:57Speaker 1: only following around 300 people and And I looked for
- 28:01Speaker 1: little blue ticks and there are quite a few of
- 28:04Speaker 1: them that popped up. But most of the time, people
- 28:05Speaker 1: with blue ticks are people who are nobodies who've just
- 28:08Speaker 1: paid for them, side note. But anyway, I was looking
- 28:10Speaker 1: and there are a couple of models with the blue ticks.
- 28:12Speaker 1: I couldn't see anyone that stood out. So maybe they
- 28:15Speaker 1: are actually trying to be discreet about this relationship and
- 28:18Speaker 1: aren't following each other. Well, how about just meeting up
- 28:20Speaker 1: at someone's house and not going to a wine bar
- 28:23Speaker 1: out in public? It seems like he has been quite
- 28:25Speaker 1: scarred by his recent experience, Kate, with that Adelaide Normie
- 28:28Speaker 1: that you were referring to before, Emily Lawson, because back
- 28:32Speaker 1: in October, she hard launched her relationship with Matt and
- 28:36Speaker 1: everyone was like, what the hell? This is pretty quick
- 28:39Speaker 1: since he broke up with Tammy. But it was quite
- 28:41Speaker 1: clear that she was just doing it for clout because
- 28:44Speaker 1: he later went on to say on his podcast, oh,
- 28:45Speaker 1: that was just a first date. I wasn't even aware
- 28:47Speaker 1: that she was posting any of this. What do you
- 28:50Speaker 1: think is more embarrassing, that Emily Lawson posting a photo
- 28:53Speaker 1: of Matt or the person who has divulged all of
- 28:56Speaker 1: the secrets from his first date but not named him?
- 28:58Speaker 1: Which would you be more embarrassed about? Oh, I like
- 29:01Speaker 1: the tactic of the girl on TikTok because she hasn't
- 29:05Speaker 1: actually named him for clout. It just seems like she's
- 29:09Speaker 1: had such a bizarre experience with him that she's like,
- 29:11Speaker 1: what the fuck, and wants to retell it. I love
- 29:14Speaker 1: that it's gone viral without her even having to mention
- 29:17Speaker 1: his name. Do we actually think he's going to be
- 29:19Speaker 1: divulging any interesting details about his dating life moving forward?
- 29:22Speaker 1: Because I feel like he and Anna talk this big
- 29:26Speaker 1: game that the podcast is going to be different, but
- 29:29Speaker 1: then it's just not. I think they almost need someone
- 29:32Speaker 1: to come in and interview them to get the interesting
- 29:34Speaker 1: information out of them. okay I feel like you're their
- 29:37Speaker 1: number one fan like you know on Facebook how it's
- 29:39Speaker 1: you get awarded you are this page's top contributor I
- 29:43Speaker 1: feel like you would be that person for their podcast
- 29:46Speaker 1: because I think they weren't in my Spotify rap yeah
- 29:48Speaker 1: what would you like to hear from Matt well I
- 29:50Speaker 1: just thought they came in all guns blazing saying we've
- 29:52Speaker 1: got so many personal details to share But it sounded
- 29:55Speaker 1: like they both had a pretty quiet Christmas period and
- 29:58Speaker 1: were kind of scraping the barrel. I mean, yes, I
- 30:00Speaker 1: found it interesting that Matt had been on a first
- 30:01Speaker 1: date with a public figure, but tell us more about that.
- 30:04Speaker 1: One thing they do need to refilm are some of
- 30:05Speaker 1: those ads that they put up. Not so much Anna,
- 30:08Speaker 1: but Matt's acting on there is terrible. Oh, they're so bad.
- 30:11Speaker 2: I actually think we need to insert some of the
- 30:13Speaker 2: audio because I'm like, how did this get approved?
- 30:16Speaker 1: I mean, to break the fourth wall down, you get
- 30:19Speaker 1: the ad, you record it, and then you send it
- 30:21Speaker 1: back for approval. I don't understand how any brands would
- 30:24Speaker 1: approve it. I mean, we can't get on our high
- 30:26Speaker 1: horse too much. I remember there was an ad for,
- 30:28Speaker 1: was it Simone Anderson's podcast that somehow was running on
- 30:32Speaker 1: repeat and everyone was so over it. We got so
