- 0:00SPEAKER_03: What item was thrown at former US President George W.
- 0:04SPEAKER_03: Bush while visiting Baghdad?
- 0:06SPEAKER_03: Was it a shoe, a shipshib, a belt, or a ball?
- 0:10SPEAKER_00: A shoe.
- 0:11SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 0:13SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 0:14SPEAKER_00: What kind of question is this, Hann?
- 0:15SPEAKER_00: You know I didn't know this.
- 0:16SPEAKER_00: It's not like that.
- 0:17SPEAKER_03: I know, I know, I know.
- 0:18SPEAKER_03: I have a lot of these questions, but this question is actually part of a really awesome game that we just got sent called the Are You Really Erebro Game?
- 0:28SPEAKER_03: Oh, that's cool.
- 0:29SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 0:30SPEAKER_03: So today we actually have the creator and founder of the game with us.
- 0:34SPEAKER_03: 321 Sharif.
- 0:36SPEAKER_03: Welcome to Obnaxly Pleasant.
- 0:38unknown: I looked surprised.
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: Hey Sharif.
- 0:42SPEAKER_00: Thanks for coming on.
- 0:44SPEAKER_05: Hey, how are you all doing?
- 0:46SPEAKER_00: Good.
- 0:46SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no, it's a good idea.
- 0:47SPEAKER_05: Good.
- 0:47SPEAKER_02: How are you?
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: How are you?
- 0:50SPEAKER_03: We are so excited to have you.
- 0:52SPEAKER_03: This was really cool.
- 0:54SPEAKER_06: Definitely.
- 0:54SPEAKER_06: Definitely.
- 0:55SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 0:55SPEAKER_06: No.
- 0:56SPEAKER_06: I apologize if there's any lag, but no, I'm uh honored to have like the time to speak to both of you.
- 1:03SPEAKER_06: I've uh listened to your podcast a bit, so excited to join you.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: That's awesome.
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: Thank you.
- 1:09SPEAKER_03: So tell us this awesome game that I yeah that I that I got in the mail.
- 1:13SPEAKER_03: I I I I've tried really hard like not to open it, but I opened it.
- 1:17SPEAKER_03: I like looked at it.
- 1:18SPEAKER_03: So I think I know how to play it.
- 1:19SPEAKER_03: I think it's really cool.
- 1:20SPEAKER_03: Like it's a fun thing you do with like family, friends.
- 1:24SPEAKER_03: Um, again, I'm gonna show this here.
- 1:25SPEAKER_03: It's the Are You Really Arab Bro card game.
- 1:29SPEAKER_03: Um, so tell us a little bit about this game.
- 1:31SPEAKER_06: Yeah, so are you really Arab Bro is uh the what is that?
- 1:36SPEAKER_06: Like a acronym for Arab.
- 1:38SPEAKER_06: So I had to work hard to make that work, but um the card game is is simple.
- 1:44SPEAKER_06: It's a social trivia game uh meant to highlight the lived experience of the Arab uh and Arab diaspora and and you know, us immigrants, our second generation folks um trying to carry and balance multiple cultures uh from back home and here.
- 2:05SPEAKER_06: Um and you know, there's a lot of history, a lot of uh cultural questions and uh just things to make light of our lived experiences.
- 2:17SPEAKER_03: That's amazing.
- 2:18SPEAKER_03: Like there was a question that I read here and it said, what is something Arabs expect to be free?
- 2:24SPEAKER_03: Say that again.
- 2:25SPEAKER_03: Wait, I missed that.
- 2:26SPEAKER_03: Say that again.
- 2:27SPEAKER_03: What is what is something Arabs expect to be free?
- 2:30SPEAKER_03: Is it tea?
- 2:31SPEAKER_03: Is it bread and hummus?
- 2:33SPEAKER_03: Is it things being fixed by a relative or is it Palestine, right?
- 2:36SPEAKER_03: But definitely Palestine, of course, Palestine.
- 2:39SPEAKER_03: So the cool thing is is that these cards are split into like two categories.
- 2:44SPEAKER_03: So one is like has a right answer, and the other one is like majority rules.
- 2:49SPEAKER_03: So my guess is the majority rules cards are the cards where like if you have a crowd, it's whatever the crowd votes for, right?
- 2:56SPEAKER_06: Yep, yeah, and and like I said it up that way because like we autobs have like a lot of diversity, so the answer for the majority questions can change depending on who's at the Azuma or who's in the setting.
- 3:10SPEAKER_06: Um, like there's a lot of fun questions, uh, some that I'd like to ask you both.
- 3:16SPEAKER_06: Uh because I've asked other people and I'm sure the answer will change uh depending on where you're from um and what you've experienced.
- 3:24SPEAKER_06: So but yeah, there's there's two categories of questions.
- 3:28SPEAKER_06: I try not to put too many rules because us autumns don't follow rules anyway.
- 3:32SPEAKER_06: Um and we're competitive.
- 3:35SPEAKER_06: Exactly.
- 3:35SPEAKER_00: Very, very competitive.
- 3:37SPEAKER_06: Exactly.
- 3:37SPEAKER_06: People will pull out the rule book or something like that.
- 3:40SPEAKER_06: I didn't want you know to spend more time writing a rule book than the actual cards.
- 3:44SPEAKER_06: So um it's about to be like just fun.
- 3:46SPEAKER_06: You can play it with ideally a group of like four to ten people.
- 3:50SPEAKER_06: Um it you don't have to be autob to play.
- 3:53SPEAKER_06: I've played with multiple people who are not autob.
- 3:56SPEAKER_06: Um so yeah, it's it's to me just supposed to be like a fun game.
- 4:00SPEAKER_06: You can keep score, you don't have to.
- 4:02SPEAKER_06: It's more about the experience, I'd say.
- 4:05SPEAKER_03: I mean, I immediately when I opened the box, I was like, oh my god, it's like an Arab cards against humanity.
- 4:10SPEAKER_06: Exactly.
- 4:12SPEAKER_06: Which I really card uh the game Black Card Revoked.
- 4:15SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 4:16SPEAKER_06: It's it's I have it.
- 4:17SPEAKER_00: Which I like I don't know any of these games besides cards against humanity.
- 4:20SPEAKER_00: Lena, Lena doesn't like love, fun, and happiness.
- 4:23SPEAKER_00: Shut up.
- 4:24SPEAKER_00: I do.
- 4:24SPEAKER_00: You're such a jerk, man.
- 4:26SPEAKER_00: You see what I gotta deal with, Shani.
- 4:27SPEAKER_00: Like we have a yesterday.
- 4:29SPEAKER_03: Anything that involves excitement or fun or going out of Lena's like, nope, I don't want any part of that.
- 4:36SPEAKER_00: That's not true.
- 4:36SPEAKER_00: I I'm actually gonna order this game.
- 4:38SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna order it and I'm gonna order some gifts too.
- 4:40SPEAKER_00: Amazing.
- 4:41SPEAKER_00: And then we'll we'll put we'll put your website too on uh yes, we'll definitely put we'll do that.
- 4:46SPEAKER_03: Yeah, your your Instagram handle, your TikTok, so all of that will be for the folks watching, it'll be in the link in the bio.
- 4:52SPEAKER_03: And even we'll we'll put a link to it on our TikTok on our Instagram because I'm all about supporting our Arab American peeps in the line.
- 5:00SPEAKER_00: Do you have another question?
- 5:01SPEAKER_00: Because I have something I wanted to ask Shitty.
- 5:03SPEAKER_00: Go ahead.
- 5:03SPEAKER_00: No, no, go ahead.
- 5:04SPEAKER_00: Okay, so uh how long have you have you been doing this?
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: Like when the idea first came, like how long did it take like for that idea to come to you and then actually implement this whole process, this this game?
- 5:17SPEAKER_06: Yeah, so like I I'm a big idea person, so like I'm always coming up with different ideas.
- 5:24SPEAKER_06: Um this one was one I was like, okay, I can actually take the idea and make it a reality if I just like stop talking myself out of it.
- 5:34SPEAKER_06: Um, like I love coming up with ideas.
- 5:36SPEAKER_06: The execution is the difficult part.
- 5:38SPEAKER_06: So I was like, this is gonna be the one I actually execute on.
- 5:42SPEAKER_06: Um, the idea came, I'd say late 2022.
- 5:48SPEAKER_06: I was in a uh game store and I've played black card revoked, it's a lot of fun, but then I saw a Jewish card revoked.
- 5:57SPEAKER_06: I said, no way, there's no way there's a Jewish card revoked and not like an auto card revoked.
- 6:03SPEAKER_06: And I was like, why not just make it?
- 6:05SPEAKER_06: Um, so I decided to make it.
- 6:07SPEAKER_06: I uh my I have my in-laws, they live in Qatar.
- 6:11SPEAKER_06: Um, so we went to visit them uh in late 2022, early 2023 in the New Year's time, and I uh you know tested the game out in that setting.
- 6:23SPEAKER_06: I came home on the plane ride, I was thinking of questions, tested the game out a bit more at other Azeam, and then um like Normal Dawn happened.
- 6:32SPEAKER_06: I was testing the game out there, and I was like, okay, I think we have something.
- 6:36SPEAKER_06: Um, so it's been it's been about I want to say three months of actually having cards in hand.
- 6:45SPEAKER_06: Um, but the idea is probably six months to seven months old at this point.
- 6:48SPEAKER_00: Wow, no, see, I was expecting that it's amazing, right?
- 6:51SPEAKER_00: I was expecting, you know, like to say like in the past three, four years when that when pandemic the pandemic happened, but mashallah, that's awesome, dude.
- 6:59SPEAKER_00: That's a very good time.
- 7:00SPEAKER_00: I mean I mean it takes me like longer to think of like a nail color, like at the you know, between appointments, like it takes us longer to organize us recording this.
- 7:09SPEAKER_00: How many times do we have to change?
- 7:12SPEAKER_06: The the plane right to cut out and back like each way is 18 hours.
- 7:16SPEAKER_06: So you like I technically have a lot of time like going there and coming back, so it it helped.
- 7:21SPEAKER_00: I would say and I'd be watching movies on that flight.
- 7:23SPEAKER_03: I was just gonna say that I'd be like watching movies or something, not thinking of my next business endeavor.
- 7:28SPEAKER_06: Yeah, yeah, that's and then like with your kids there, it's like, uh, do I want to watch this movie?
- 7:33SPEAKER_06: And then they want to watch another movie.
- 7:35SPEAKER_06: So yeah, I was like, let me write.
- 7:37SPEAKER_00: So, how many kids do you have?
- 7:38SPEAKER_06: Uh, we have three.
- 7:40SPEAKER_06: So that's awesome.
- 7:42SPEAKER_00: Uh so how do you do it?
- 7:43SPEAKER_00: Like, how did that like?
- 7:44SPEAKER_00: I mean, obviously, your wife is gonna be very like a supportive uh factor in all of this, otherwise, you're you're not gonna be able to do this.
- 7:50SPEAKER_06: Yeah, she she's like a sounding board for me, 100%.
- 7:53SPEAKER_06: Like, I'm always like, uh, what do you think of this question?
- 7:57SPEAKER_06: Um, or what do you think of this idea, or should I do this, or reviewing things for me on Instagram and TikTok?
- 8:04SPEAKER_00: So um, but like I saw somebody, I saw somebody your social media stuff.
- 8:08SPEAKER_00: It's funny, I like it.
- 8:09SPEAKER_00: I think you just need some exposure, dude.
- 8:11SPEAKER_00: You're gonna catch on.
- 8:12SPEAKER_00: How long have you had your your Instagram account?
- 8:15SPEAKER_06: Um, probably since 2023.
- 8:18SPEAKER_00: Like that was the oh, so it's new, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 8:21SPEAKER_00: Very new.
- 8:22SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 8:23SPEAKER_06: Like part of me was like, all right, do I want the public to know I'm actually doing this?
- 8:27SPEAKER_00: Um yes, why not?
- 8:29SPEAKER_03: Trust me.
- 8:30SPEAKER_03: That is a huge part of it.
- 8:32SPEAKER_03: The huge part of is do I want the public to know what I'm doing?
- 8:34SPEAKER_03: Because like the minute that you are on the interwebs of the state is the minute that like the flood gates open and you get positive criticism, negative criticism.
- 8:45SPEAKER_03: For the most part, like it's positive, uh, but it's just criticism is criticism, right?
- 8:50SPEAKER_03: Whether it's like constructive, whether it's not, whether it's negative, but it just becomes really hard because instead of it just being your voice and your own creativity, you're inviting like the world into what it is that you're doing, and that immediately changes that dynamic.
- 9:05SPEAKER_03: And so there's so the expectations, the bar just goes like and yeah.
- 9:10SPEAKER_00: So, my question, my follow-up question to that is okay, so you had to get comfortable with the idea on like putting yourself out there, right?
- 9:16SPEAKER_00: So, was there any concern on your part and how your Arab family might react to not just the game, but you being on social media and promoting this on social media?
- 9:26SPEAKER_06: 100%, 100%.
- 9:28SPEAKER_06: Like so, I I have like a the stereotypical like engineering background.
- 9:35SPEAKER_06: Um my big concern was like people being like, Oh, how's work?
- 9:41SPEAKER_06: And why are you doing something that's not like engineering?
- 9:45SPEAKER_06: Um and so like that that question has come up like, oh, you're you're making a a card game, a card game.
- 9:51SPEAKER_06: Um, and then like I this is like real in the the backstory of this, but like you could see in my social media, I like battled actually like being the face of it.
- 10:02SPEAKER_00: Um, and a lot of like feedback from my wife and actually my sister-in-law too, of like just just go for it, do it, and then uh so yeah, it's definitely been uh a fun journey, but like it's uh it's I mean you yeah, I was just gonna you have to you feel like you have to explain yourself to like you know the the parents, you know, because we all we we've all been, I mean we've been absolutely so like like what do you what do you say to the like maybe the older generation of of uh Arab like there they like you said that look you're an engineer, why are you doing this?
- 10:35SPEAKER_03: Like exactly yeah, because my mom was convinced that Lena and I were gonna get I in when we started doing this, so she's like, Don't don't anything bad that happens, she's like you and Lena get I in.
- 10:44SPEAKER_03: This is why you guys should not be doing this podcast, should not be video on the internet.
- 10:48SPEAKER_03: So, like, how do you battle that?
- 10:49SPEAKER_03: How do you battle the concept of you're gonna get I in if you're successful?
- 10:53SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I like I mean it it's hard, I would say.
- 10:58SPEAKER_06: Like it to me, it was just again like back to like knowing that like what I'm doing this for is I'm want to just execute an idea and I'm just having fun with it.
- 11:08SPEAKER_06: Like the best part is like I get to have fun with something I'm building.
- 11:13SPEAKER_06: Like I I really enjoy even not just the the writing of the cards and the making the content, but like the business side of it, like what can help me grow, what you know, what can what levers can I pull to to make it better?
- 11:28SPEAKER_06: Um, so like for me that's I keep that as like my motivation and not try to be too out there, but like as you mentioned, it's it's difficult in our culture.
- 11:38SPEAKER_03: So yeah, I think it is, it is, it's really hard because I don't think I don't think whether it's our parents or people our parents' generations or just people who are just even between us and our parents realize that this type of stuff, whether it's physical, like because this is content, this is still content creation, right?
- 11:54SPEAKER_03: Um, content creation is a full-time job.
- 11:56SPEAKER_03: Like there's planning that goes into it, there's work, it's really it, yeah, it really is time consuming.
- 12:02SPEAKER_03: It's what you would spend on your regular job, you spend actually, you know, so you can make this thing successful.
- 12:07SPEAKER_03: And like you said, something really important, the business side of it.
- 12:10SPEAKER_03: I don't think people really take into consideration.
- 12:11SPEAKER_03: It's not like I'm just printing some cards and putting them on the internet.
- 12:14SPEAKER_03: It's like, no, how do I grow this business?
- 12:16SPEAKER_03: You know, how do I make this actually lucrative?
- 12:18SPEAKER_03: How do I make this, you know, like passive income or my actual income?
- 12:22SPEAKER_03: How do I, you know, like like I've already I read some of these cards and I'm like, I need an expansion pack.
- 12:27SPEAKER_04: Right?
- 12:27SPEAKER_03: How do you come up?
- 12:28SPEAKER_03: What do expansion packs look like?
- 12:30SPEAKER_03: What is the business model for that, right?
- 12:32SPEAKER_03: Like if you're selling a card game at a base price, what do additional, you know, packs look like?
- 12:37SPEAKER_03: So yeah, it is it's a real job.
- 12:39SPEAKER_03: It is a real job in my stuff.
- 12:41SPEAKER_00: I wanted to just go back to, you know, you said something that's very important because it's kind of similar to what like, you know, uh our journey, me and Hanan, like we wanted to do something where we're hanging out with each other and we're having fun and we're we're providing a positive space and positive content.
- 12:55SPEAKER_00: So you said you're having fun with this, you know, and I think that's very important because like I'm sure you have a full-time job, just like we both have full-time jobs, but this brings us, you know, what it brings us joy, you know?
- 13:07SPEAKER_00: Yeah, 100%.
- 13:08SPEAKER_00: That's that's I want you to talk about that because yeah, like, you know, we're we're more than just what our daytime jobs are, we're more than just parents.
- 13:15SPEAKER_00: As much as we love our kids, you know, we have other passions, you know, and I think a lot of times, and I I'm not trying to say, you know, Ada bar just like this.
- 13:23SPEAKER_00: No, there's people from all sorts of cultures where sometimes they get stuck in that, oh, well, I can't be doing this because, you know, what are people gonna think of me?
- 13:31SPEAKER_00: But sometimes you got to take care of yourself, right?
- 13:34SPEAKER_00: Like if you can just talk about that.
- 13:36SPEAKER_03: Yeah, we get stuck in what society thinks our role should look like in life.
- 13:41SPEAKER_03: Like, you need to, you're this age, you need to get married.
- 13:44SPEAKER_03: You're this age, you're now you're now you're married, you need to have kids.
- 13:46SPEAKER_03: Now you have kids, you need to have a mortgage.
- 13:48SPEAKER_03: Like, there's just this weird plan that is laid out for you, and you're like, But wait a minute, can I like change some things?
- 13:54SPEAKER_03: Can I can I have can I do something that's actually fun?
- 13:58SPEAKER_06: Yeah, no, definitely.
- 13:59SPEAKER_06: Yeah, because like I had a lot of like concerns about like the the making this public, especially with you know my family circle.
- 14:08SPEAKER_06: But surprisingly, like my mother and my mother-in-law were like super supportive.
- 14:13SPEAKER_06: My mother super offended she didn't like get a copy, and uh and so I was like, I I made her a special like coffee just for her.
- 14:24SPEAKER_03: Um, so yeah, how can you make your mother-in-law part of the soft launch?
- 14:28SPEAKER_03: That is mistake number one.
- 14:29SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I know I tried to keep it you know hidden from my parents and you know, my in-laws, but you know, I couldn't couldn't do that.
- 14:36SPEAKER_00: Because sometimes you just don't want to deal with the hundred and one questions, man.
- 14:39SPEAKER_06: I I get it, like I get it, you know.
- 14:41SPEAKER_06: Like it's it's much.
- 14:42SPEAKER_06: And and like to to the earlier point too, like my my day job is is pretty demanding, and this turned into like a fun outlet for me, like something to look forward to.
- 14:53SPEAKER_06: Uh, you know, candidly, I'm in Zoom meetings all day and like thinking of like, okay, what content can I make to that like people will you know be receptive to, or how can I grow a larger following of my actual customers?
- 15:10SPEAKER_06: Uh so like it became like a really fun outlet for me to just like think of the game while in work, and hopefully my day job never sees this, but you know, but you know what?
- 15:20SPEAKER_03: Honestly, if they do, it's okay.
- 15:23SPEAKER_03: We both have day jobs, we have people from our work that watch our content.
- 15:26SPEAKER_03: Yeah, everybody, you're allowed to have a day job and you're allowed to have fun.
- 15:30SPEAKER_03: And I think that's where that's like it's like it's that's an area we all struggle with, and not just us like as Arab Americans, I think just us as working adults, you know, you kind of have to figure out where is that soft spot, like you know, or you know, where is that like sweet spot where I need to I'm able to do everything, right?
- 15:47SPEAKER_03: And sometimes it happens where you're doing everything at midnight on a Monday.
- 15:50SPEAKER_04: It happens, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 15:53SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but you know what?
- 15:53SPEAKER_00: That's we went through that, me and Hanan in the beginning.
- 15:56SPEAKER_00: We were like so worried about this and that.
- 15:57SPEAKER_00: And I'm just like, after a while, you stop you stop caring.
- 15:59SPEAKER_00: You're like, whatever.
- 16:00SPEAKER_00: Like, I'm not doing anything wrong.
- 16:02SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and like we're just having fun, we're here for a good time because, like you said, your job is demanding, both our jobs are demanding, and like sometimes we just don't want to deal with like we want to focus our energy on on something fun and light.
- 16:13SPEAKER_00: And I think it's it's with like in terms of our jobs, I think we've it's made us better, even in our jobs, even because 100% it's something we're doing for us, and I think that's really, really important because for you, even if if like inshallah, inshallah it's 60s and and you make tons of money, uh, but I think correct me if I'm wrong, the point is half of it is for you to do something that's just for you and that you're gonna be, and the other half is to actually bring some joy and fun, you know?
- 16:43SPEAKER_00: Because we don't have this.
- 16:44SPEAKER_00: This is I think this is the first game.
- 16:45SPEAKER_00: Like, I don't know of any other of any other like game like this, you know.
- 16:50SPEAKER_00: Yeah, not that yeah.
- 16:51SPEAKER_03: I think the only thing that, like I said, that was close to this was the other the green cards or whatever, but that was more like Muslim American, not really Arab American.
- 16:59SPEAKER_03: So that's a whole other identity.
- 17:01SPEAKER_03: That's a different happened for a different day.
- 17:04SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 17:05SPEAKER_03: I I love these questions because I we should play, we should play around.
- 17:08SPEAKER_00: How do you play?
- 17:09SPEAKER_00: Tell us, come on, let's play around.
- 17:10SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I mean, I picked some of the questions that we can ask.
- 17:14SPEAKER_06: I can ask you guys just all right, I'm ready.
- 17:16SPEAKER_06: Okay, perfect, perfect.
- 17:17SPEAKER_06: So I'll start with the majority ones.
- 17:20SPEAKER_06: Um, I think so.
- 17:23SPEAKER_06: First question uh, what country is the best at Debke?
- 17:27SPEAKER_06: Is it Lebanon, Palestine, Jordan, or Syria?
- 17:32SPEAKER_01: They're all very different, they're all very different.
- 17:35SPEAKER_01: Hanan, just say different.
- 17:37SPEAKER_01: Hanan, just say it.
- 17:38SPEAKER_01: It's Palestine.
- 17:39SPEAKER_00: Okay, there's no I mean, listen, the Lebanese come in second.
- 17:42SPEAKER_00: I'll give it to them.
- 17:43SPEAKER_03: I support all the DevKeds, okay, especially because I come from a country where we don't deptch, so I don't get a like, I'm not voting on this one.
- 17:50SPEAKER_00: Hanan, you I support all.
- 17:52SPEAKER_00: Hanan, that's no.
- 17:54SPEAKER_00: I'm your best friend, and you can't even vote for Palestine.
- 17:56SPEAKER_00: Oh my god, we're under occupation, dude.
- 17:58SPEAKER_00: I vote for Palestine because you're under occupation.
- 18:01SPEAKER_00: Okay, all right.
- 18:01SPEAKER_05: Hanna, where what country are you from?
- 18:03SPEAKER_05: I'm Egyptian.
- 18:05SPEAKER_05: Okay, me too, me too.
- 18:06SPEAKER_05: Okay, okay.
- 18:06SPEAKER_02: I mean, see, you understand me.
- 18:09SPEAKER_02: We cannot just vote for one country.
- 18:12SPEAKER_06: Yeah, no, I mean, I don't know.
- 18:15SPEAKER_06: I I you have a very like like neutral answer.
- 18:20SPEAKER_06: I definitely have an opinion on this one.
- 18:21SPEAKER_02: Well, please, please.
- 18:23SPEAKER_02: What's your answer?
- 18:24SPEAKER_06: I I definitely think like as a whole, like the most entertaining is Palestine.
- 18:30SPEAKER_06: Definitely, but like I think Lebanon does does come in, like it's like a 1B, I would say.
- 18:38SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I like that 1B.
- 18:40SPEAKER_00: That's a great at Debka.
- 18:42SPEAKER_00: Absolutely.
- 18:43SPEAKER_00: No doubt.
- 18:44SPEAKER_00: They really are.
- 18:44SPEAKER_00: I agree.
- 18:45SPEAKER_00: They really, really are.
- 18:46SPEAKER_03: Next question.
- 18:47SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 18:48SPEAKER_06: Okay, so um, an Arab household is incomplete without a uh the first question.
- 18:55SPEAKER_02: Olive oil.
- 18:57SPEAKER_06: I should add that.
- 18:59SPEAKER_02: Olive oil.
- 19:00SPEAKER_06: Olive oil is a good one.
- 19:01SPEAKER_06: I didn't I I I might change it out and get your guys' feedback, and I'll explain like the roadmap, I think, of the issue.
- 19:08SPEAKER_02: So okay.
- 19:09SPEAKER_06: Umtafa.
- 19:12SPEAKER_00: Oh my god.
- 19:13SPEAKER_00: Yes, I will shatafa.
- 19:15SPEAKER_00: I don't let him finish.
- 19:17SPEAKER_00: It's multiple choice there, man.
- 19:19SPEAKER_06: Uh, but you could tell me which one you would replace with Alva because I think Alvo is actually a valid option.
- 19:25SPEAKER_06: Yes.
- 19:26SPEAKER_06: Uh B, Shisha, or Agida, or wherever you're from, whatever you call it.
- 19:32SPEAKER_06: Uh, C, the evil eye thing, and D, a China set display.
- 19:37unknown: Definitely.
- 19:38SPEAKER_03: Yeah, those are all so good.
- 19:40SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 19:40SPEAKER_03: I'm picking Shotafa.
- 19:41SPEAKER_03: Oh my god.
- 19:41SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I pick Shattafa too, because that is something you cannot live without.
- 19:44SPEAKER_03: You know, it's funny.
- 19:45SPEAKER_03: Speaking of the Shattafa, I always tell all the younger kids, like my friends' kids, or you know, like the younger kids in the family.
- 19:50SPEAKER_03: I'm like, if anybody makes fun of you, tell them you're elite because you wash your butt like on the daily, like it is every time, all the time.
- 19:59SPEAKER_03: That makes you elite.
- 20:01SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 20:02SPEAKER_03: I I would, you know, I would pick Chatafa too.
- 20:04SPEAKER_03: But all your answers are good.
- 20:05SPEAKER_03: The China set, one I don't have a China set on display.
- 20:08SPEAKER_03: Yeah, neither do I.
- 20:09SPEAKER_06: Is there one you would pick out for olive oil?
- 20:11SPEAKER_06: Because I really like olive oil.
- 20:13SPEAKER_00: I would do the evil eye.
- 20:14SPEAKER_00: Yeah, take the evil eye, put yeah, yeah, and put the olive oil.
- 20:18SPEAKER_00: See, but we're see, we're brainstorming with you.
- 20:19SPEAKER_00: This is cool.
- 20:20SPEAKER_00: We have some input here.
- 20:21SPEAKER_06: Exactly.
- 20:21SPEAKER_06: Yeah, so like so.
- 20:23SPEAKER_06: This is uh I think it's a good time to really explain like my roadmap revision for this.
- 20:28SPEAKER_06: The this the version that's available now is what I call the pre-release.
- 20:33SPEAKER_06: Um, it's limited quantity, and and basically I'm looking to get feedback from people um on the questions so that they can improve, they can change.
- 20:44SPEAKER_06: Um are there questions that are good, are there questions that are not?
- 20:48SPEAKER_06: And then I can produce essentially version 1.0 taking in that feedback and and mass produce that version.
- 20:56SPEAKER_06: Um, and then what I would like to do is in some way, shape, or form, provide people that purchased this version some sort of benefit in the future, like they get you know, lifetime discounts or something like that.
- 21:10SPEAKER_06: Um, to any version 1.0 expansion packs, um you know, like you know, I'm Arab, so I'm gonna vote for discount.
- 21:20SPEAKER_06: Definitely, definitely.
- 21:21SPEAKER_03: I think like there's definitely gonna be like discounts that people who get the game at this early will get like I just want to show people look, this is just this is not even everything, but like look at the amount of cards that are like in this game.
- 21:37SPEAKER_03: So yeah, you have like probably like a solid three hours of fun just in this deck.
- 21:43SPEAKER_06: No, that's in arguments.
- 21:45SPEAKER_00: So I I expect a lot of arguments that's just I cannot speak speaking of arguments, what what are give me a couple questions that are you know that can cause a problem.
- 21:54SPEAKER_00: Give me a couple of things.
- 21:56SPEAKER_01: I have a good one.
- 21:57SPEAKER_01: Here's a here's a good one that here's a here's a great one.
- 22:00SPEAKER_01: Controversial.
- 22:02SPEAKER_03: That that is controversial.
- 22:03SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 22:04SPEAKER_03: Here's uh here's a one that is very, very controversial.
- 22:09SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 22:10SPEAKER_03: Who is the best soccer player in the last 15 years?
- 22:14SPEAKER_03: Is it Mo Salah?
- 22:15SPEAKER_03: Is it Messi?
- 22:16SPEAKER_03: Is it Cristiano Ronaldo?
- 22:18SPEAKER_03: Or is it Killian Mbappe?
- 22:20SPEAKER_03: You know, I'm gonna have to vote for my people.
- 22:22SPEAKER_03: It's gonna be a vote a lot.
- 22:23SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna vote for Mo.
- 22:24SPEAKER_00: That's it.
- 22:25SPEAKER_00: Yeah, man.
- 22:25SPEAKER_03: Mo Salah is like the man.
- 22:28unknown: Yeah.
- 22:28SPEAKER_00: I mean, listen to the biggest.
- 22:29SPEAKER_00: I'm the best soccer fan.
- 22:30SPEAKER_00: I'm not a soccer fan.
- 22:31SPEAKER_00: He's Egyptian.
- 22:31SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna vote for him.
- 22:32SPEAKER_00: That's it.
- 22:33SPEAKER_00: Like simple, yeah.
- 22:34SPEAKER_00: I yeah, I mean, I can't.
- 22:36unknown: Yeah.
- 22:36SPEAKER_06: Look, they're all talented.
- 22:38SPEAKER_06: Even though we weren't in the World Cup, like he still deserves to be the best player.
- 22:41SPEAKER_03: Yeah, 100%.
- 22:43SPEAKER_03: Like, again, they're all very talented for different reasons, but my vote is always gonna go to Amsala.
- 22:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah, what else?
- 22:49SPEAKER_06: So I I did I did put in like I did try to put in some controversial questions.
- 22:54SPEAKER_06: Um, I think the I saw that one.
- 22:57SPEAKER_03: I saw that one.
- 22:57SPEAKER_03: There was a really good controversial question here that I was like, oh, he went there.
- 23:01SPEAKER_03: Hold on.
- 23:02SPEAKER_03: I was just because I'm sitting here ruffling through this technically, yeah.
- 23:05SPEAKER_06: Like those are the ones I'm like, do I want to include that long term or not?
- 23:08SPEAKER_06: I just want to figure out.
- 23:09SPEAKER_03: Here's here's one give me the question, and I'll tell you one that I think it's kind of controversial just because it shows my age.
- 23:16SPEAKER_03: Ready?
- 23:16SPEAKER_03: 9-11 was a tragic day that changed how Arabs were viewed around the world.
- 23:20SPEAKER_03: Where were you when you heard about what happened on 9-11?
- 23:24SPEAKER_03: Were you at school?
- 23:25SPEAKER_03: Were you at work?
- 23:25SPEAKER_03: Were you at home or too young or not born?
- 23:28SPEAKER_03: I resent D.
- 23:29SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 23:29SPEAKER_03: I resent D.
- 23:30SPEAKER_00: I mean, I was alive and I was uh we were at school.
- 23:35SPEAKER_00: I was at home, I was getting ready to go to college.
- 23:38SPEAKER_00: No, I was at school, yeah.
- 23:39SPEAKER_00: I were yeah, Colin and I went to college together.
- 23:42SPEAKER_00: So yeah, but like I, you know how there was AOL back in the day.
- 23:45SPEAKER_00: So I opened the computer and there was like like in the beginning, it was just the first plane, right?
- 23:50SPEAKER_00: And they thought it was just an accident, you know?
- 23:53SPEAKER_00: So I just turned off my computer.
- 23:55SPEAKER_00: I went took a shower.
- 23:56SPEAKER_00: I'm like, okay, like that's really messed up, like it's scary.
- 23:58SPEAKER_00: But I'm like, I I'm late for class, you know.
- 24:00SPEAKER_00: So I'm like, I'm gonna go.
- 24:01SPEAKER_00: Like, I didn't think anything of it.
- 24:02SPEAKER_00: The minute I realized something was wrong was me trying to get on 66 to go to our school.
- 24:08SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and it's packed, jammed.
- 24:10SPEAKER_00: And my class, my first class was like at 12.
- 24:12SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, there should not be traffic at this time.
- 24:15SPEAKER_00: I'm like, what is going on?
- 24:17SPEAKER_00: And then like I get a call, and it's from my brother in Ohio.
- 24:20SPEAKER_00: Apparently, my husband was calling me, and like the lines were so jammed, like the local lines were not, no one was it was really hard.
- 24:28SPEAKER_00: Yeah, my brother's like, Where are you?
- 24:30SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, I'm going to school.
- 24:31SPEAKER_00: He's like, No, you're not.
- 24:32SPEAKER_00: I'm like, dude, I'm going, he's like, you take the first exit and you go home.
- 24:35SPEAKER_00: Like, what the hell is happening?
- 24:36SPEAKER_00: And then he's like, just get home and turn on the news.
- 24:39SPEAKER_00: So he's like, do not go to school.
- 24:41SPEAKER_00: I'm like, oh my God.
- 24:42SPEAKER_00: So by the time I I get home, I'm just like, wow, like it was just so like scary and like shocking, and we didn't know what the hell was happening, but yeah, it was I'll never forget where I was.
- 24:54SPEAKER_00: That's definitely yeah, something 100%.
- 24:56SPEAKER_03: I I have another very controversial question.
- 24:58SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 24:59SPEAKER_03: And I know you're not.
- 25:03SPEAKER_00: I just resent the part about not being born.
- 25:06SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's true.
- 25:07SPEAKER_06: But like the the reason I I included that, and I think like like you you answered the question perfectly because um the purpose I had, like the reason I included that question specifically is like this game is gonna be played cross-generationally.
- 25:22SPEAKER_06: Yeah, and there are gonna be kids who actually are gonna play this game and were not born at that time.
- 25:27SPEAKER_06: And that yeah, you both myself can share like what that story was because if you were alive, you remember exactly what happened, how it impacted you for you know the next 10-20 years of your life, right?
- 25:42SPEAKER_06: So um it's really cool to hear your story because I I was in Minnesota still, I live in Minnesota.
- 25:48SPEAKER_06: It like we felt it here, but I'm sure if you guys were on the east coast, it was we're in the DC metro area, yeah.
- 25:56SPEAKER_06: So way different.
- 25:58SPEAKER_00: I mean, the Pentagon was what, like five minutes from where I used to live.
- 26:01SPEAKER_06: That's wild.
- 26:02SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 26:03SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 26:04SPEAKER_03: So yeah, the other one that I think is kind of controversial, and I'll tell you why, is who's the best Arab actor in the last 50 years, right?
- 26:11SPEAKER_03: So there's four choices A, B, C, D, is it Ahmad Helmi, is it Adil Imam, is it Muhammad al-Hinedi, or is it Ahmad Al-Sa'ah?
- 26:19SPEAKER_03: So I'm all for that, but you could just give me four Egyptian actors.
- 26:26SPEAKER_03: Where's yeah, where's that Bessin Nuri?
- 26:28SPEAKER_03: That's my that's my dude, right?
- 26:31SPEAKER_06: My my my uh Egyptian bias can show through some of the cards.
- 26:35SPEAKER_00: Absolutely, absolutely.
- 26:36SPEAKER_00: I would I think you should have something like not just like Arab American actors.
- 26:40SPEAKER_00: I mean, we have some awesome people in in in Hollywood, you know, like we should we should do that.
- 26:45SPEAKER_00: That's that's one thing you can maybe add.
- 26:47SPEAKER_00: Um, but yeah, like it's like Egypt, obviously, awesome movies, you know, like they have that, but like definitely include other you're gonna get people mad at you, yeah.
- 26:58SPEAKER_03: But I would definitely, because like you have like Syrian actor Abbas and that guy's a legend, seriously, a legend.
- 27:05SPEAKER_03: Um, but yeah, that's that's the main thing.
- 27:07SPEAKER_03: And I and I love that your your Egyptian bias so shows in something and then not in others, like the fact that you have baklava written on there or knafa, it's kuna knaftakate 100%, 100%.
- 27:26SPEAKER_00: It is a knafa, it's not kunafa.
- 27:28SPEAKER_00: Kunafa.
- 27:30SPEAKER_06: No, I said knafe.
- 27:32SPEAKER_06: I was like, man, I'm just going to at least it didn't say like chnafa or something like that.
- 27:36SPEAKER_00: But yeah, I mean, listen, some of my family members say chnafa.
- 27:40SPEAKER_00: I mean, I don't say chnafa, I say knafa, but yeah, I mean the the thing with these things, you'll never like satisfy everybody, you'll never make exactly anybody happy.
- 27:49SPEAKER_00: So you just sometimes you just gotta be like take those punches and keep on walking.
- 27:54SPEAKER_00: Exactly, exactly.
- 27:55SPEAKER_00: It's okay for you to say knafa.
- 27:56SPEAKER_03: I will always say knafa.
- 27:58SPEAKER_03: I do uh huh.
- 28:00SPEAKER_03: I think it's done.
- 28:02SPEAKER_03: So the other the other one, the other question that I absolute that I read in here, and I absolutely love that, and that's what I was leaping through earlier while you were talking is this question because it's so spot on for every Arab American child.
- 28:15SPEAKER_03: I don't care what country you're from, actually for every immigrant child, okay?
- 28:20SPEAKER_02: Your mom is speaking loudly on the phone because a she's not about something, b, she's talking to someone overseas, c she can't hear the other side, or D, it's her normal tone.
- 28:33SPEAKER_00: Well, I think it's B and D.
- 28:35unknown: I think both.
- 28:37SPEAKER_00: B and D.
- 28:38SPEAKER_00: It's it's always like overseas.
- 28:40SPEAKER_00: Absolutely.
- 28:40SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 28:42SPEAKER_03: But it's uh, but it but it's like honestly, it's questions questions like that, like I love because I think like you're right, like it is it's something that everybody can identify with.
- 28:51SPEAKER_03: And uh you're right, like I don't think you have to be really Arab American, like Arab American to play this.
- 28:55SPEAKER_03: I think you can have Arab American friends and still, you know, like be embedded in the culture and you know, just be like, Yeah, his mom really is loud.
- 29:03SPEAKER_03: And and she's really doing that half the time.
- 29:05SPEAKER_00: And what a way to learn about the culture.
- 29:07SPEAKER_00: I think it's a great way, you know.
- 29:09SPEAKER_00: I think so.
- 29:10SPEAKER_06: Well, like one of my friends is from one of my best friends is from Afghanistan, and like he could sit down and play this game with us because like not like he has similar experiences, but also he's heard so much from like me and our other best friend who's Lebanese, like that it you know, he he knows a lot of the answers and can even speak Arabic at this point.
- 29:31SPEAKER_03: So that's awesome.
- 29:32SPEAKER_03: That's that's amazing.
- 29:34SPEAKER_03: Like, I and I love the thing about dialects, like which dialects are the most masculine, which dialects are the most feminine, because those are questions that we like Leon and I talk about all the time.
- 29:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah, we've and we've gotten some fun reactions from those.
- 29:46SPEAKER_03: Seriously.
- 29:47SPEAKER_03: Uh and I love I love this one.
- 29:49SPEAKER_03: Who is um who is uh like like uh Arabs or like Arabs' favorite American musician, right?
- 29:56SPEAKER_03: Is it Drake?
- 29:57SPEAKER_03: Is it Michael Jackson?
- 29:58SPEAKER_03: Is it Beyonce?
- 29:59SPEAKER_03: Is it 50 Cent?
- 30:00SPEAKER_03: I don't know if like any of my answers would be that because like if it was my dad, my dad would be like, uh, it's Abba, duh, right?
- 30:09SPEAKER_00: Or Michael Jackson.
- 30:10SPEAKER_00: Michael Jackson.
- 30:12SPEAKER_06: That's what it was for me.
- 30:13SPEAKER_06: Like, I remember like one of the first times in like middle school or elementary school, I went to to Egypt and everyone was obsessed with Michael Jackson, and all we did was make fun of him.
- 30:25SPEAKER_06: And I was just like, Why do you guys love Michael Jackson so much here?
- 30:29SPEAKER_06: Like, what is it about him?
- 30:30SPEAKER_06: And you know, I was just young.
- 30:33SPEAKER_03: No, but it's amazing because like every generation, you're right, like they loved a different kind of singer.
- 30:37SPEAKER_03: Like when my dad, my dad grew up in Egypt, but my dad grew up like like my dad loves the Beatles, absolutely, totally, wholly loves the Beatles.
- 30:45SPEAKER_03: He loves Abba, right?
- 30:46SPEAKER_03: He loves Engelbert Humperdinck, right?
- 30:49SPEAKER_03: He loves Kenny Loggins.
- 30:51SPEAKER_03: Oh wow.
- 30:53SPEAKER_00: My dad's song for him.
- 30:55SPEAKER_03: Really?
- 30:56SPEAKER_03: For Kenny Kenny Loggins?
- 30:57SPEAKER_03: Maybe I've read it, I just didn't know.
- 31:02SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 31:03SPEAKER_03: But I think it's it's crazy.
- 31:04SPEAKER_03: Like every generation has something.
- 31:05SPEAKER_03: But it that kind of just shows you like how like deep American pop culture goes, right?
- 31:10SPEAKER_06: 100%.
- 31:10SPEAKER_03: Yeah, but yeah, I like cannot wait until you know we have um like an Arab American singer like at the Grammys.
- 31:16SPEAKER_03: That's what I'm waiting for personally, right?
- 31:19SPEAKER_03: Somebody to break into that genre and bring our amazing music to like the main stage.
- 31:24SPEAKER_03: You know, you should do more music cards.
- 31:26SPEAKER_03: That's the one thing.
- 31:27SPEAKER_03: That's my one feedback.
- 31:28SPEAKER_03: More about like, you know, like Arabic music, uh, like you know, Arabic music, like finish this lyric.
- 31:33SPEAKER_03: Ya tub tub.
- 31:35SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 31:37SPEAKER_05: I had I have one of those in there, but that is definitely like good feedback for sure.
- 31:43SPEAKER_00: I mean, that could be its own, like, um, like once you get the the first patch, yeah.
- 31:49SPEAKER_00: You know, you can have like your own um look at us brainstorming with you here.
- 31:52SPEAKER_00: This is great.
- 31:53SPEAKER_06: I'm taking notes.
- 31:54SPEAKER_06: I don't know if he's gonna take notes, but I'm taking notes.
- 31:56SPEAKER_00: That's awesome.
- 31:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah, go ahead, Han.
- 31:59SPEAKER_03: No, I was gonna say, I think the folks who follow us are gonna get like follow us are gonna get a kick out of this because we have a lot of folks.
- 32:05SPEAKER_03: We have an awesome mix of people who follow us, especially on TikTok.
- 32:08SPEAKER_03: You have people who are like Arab Americans, like the same, like we're all Arab Americans, but you have people who are like, I'm an immigrant, right?
- 32:14SPEAKER_03: So I'm like a I'm an immigrant, I'm a child of immigrants.
- 32:16SPEAKER_03: I didn't move to the country until I was 10.
- 32:19SPEAKER_03: So I am very like like I I identify most with like my Arab American identity, but I definitely have like my Egyptian-ness that like overtakes things sometimes.
- 32:28SPEAKER_03: Lena's also like very Arab American, very Palestinian and American, very flah Palestinian American.
- 32:34SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and you know, as a Palestinian, we always have to remind everybody we're just we're Palestinian.
- 32:37SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
- 32:38SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
- 32:39SPEAKER_00: We're Palestinians.
- 32:41SPEAKER_03: But no, we also exactly, but we also have a group of folks who follow us who are like just learning about like they're also like, you know, like they're first generation or second generation or third generation Arab American, or they're married to Arabs, and they listen to the podcast just to learn about like culture, language, you know, they laugh with us.
- 32:57SPEAKER_03: So I think they're gonna get a cake out of this game.
- 32:59SPEAKER_03: Like, I I'm crossing my fingers, and for everybody who listens to us, please go out and get yourself a copy of this game and do yourself a favor and just play and then like let us know what you think.
- 33:11SPEAKER_03: What what's what's the website, Sharif?
- 33:14SPEAKER_06: Uh, right now it's uh the Arab Card Game.shopify.com.
- 33:19SPEAKER_06: So you can okay.
- 33:20SPEAKER_06: We'll we'll put that in there.
- 33:21SPEAKER_00: I just wanted I just wanted to have you actually say that on there, and then we'll we'll definitely put it in the links and in our uh comment section.
- 33:29SPEAKER_03: And if you yeah, if you order, you get a really cute handwritten note from Sharif, like in here and you can see that my uh don't do that.
- 33:36SPEAKER_00: You're like putting him on this but I think he sent you that handwritten note.
- 33:39SPEAKER_00: I don't think so.
- 33:40SPEAKER_00: No, no, I no, he sent it to everybody.
- 33:43SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's nice.
- 33:45SPEAKER_06: That is like that is a personal touch, you know.
- 33:47SPEAKER_06: Like I was gonna say, that's an awesome personal touch, you know.
- 33:51SPEAKER_06: Yeah, you know what?
- 33:51SPEAKER_00: Inshallah, inshallah.
- 33:53SPEAKER_00: Like there's so many people will buy it, and you won't have time to be sending anybody personal notes.
- 33:57SPEAKER_05: I hope so, inshallah.
- 33:58SPEAKER_03: Well, you know, no, I hope so many people buy it and you still send personal notes because I thought it was really cute and really sweet.
- 34:05SPEAKER_03: I thought it was awesome.
- 34:06SPEAKER_03: It does make your uh like it does make your your experience feel a lot more personal and stuff like that.
- 34:11SPEAKER_03: But no, I'm excited.
- 34:12SPEAKER_03: I'm excited to actually like do a separate like short or TikTok with Lena where I just ask her these questions because you like gave me gold.
- 34:20SPEAKER_03: So these questions came to me, not to Lena.
- 34:22SPEAKER_03: So now I'm just gonna do that.
- 34:24SPEAKER_03: She's constantly asking me questions that I have no idea.
- 34:27SPEAKER_00: You made it easy for her because I do research and I actually asked her these questions, and then she just, you know, you just I did research, I'm gonna pick a card, any card, okay.
- 34:35SPEAKER_00: You know what?
- 34:35SPEAKER_00: I'm coming over next week and we'll play, we'll play around and we'll record.
- 34:39SPEAKER_06: Yeah, and let me know.
- 34:40SPEAKER_00: I am so down.
- 34:41SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 34:42SPEAKER_06: The other thing is like if if you both or your followers or whoever it is thinks of like good questions, um, I'm happy to add them because like uh like I mentioned before, like I do have a bias when writing these, right?
- 34:55SPEAKER_06: Like, I don't want and I try my best to eliminate it, but like and I have a diverse group of friends, so I can you know try to pick up and think how they would think of some of these questions.
- 35:08SPEAKER_06: Um, but like the feedback is the most valuable thing, more than even the orders, right?
- 35:14SPEAKER_06: Because I think if we like represent our Arab American identities in these cards, it will create a quality product that people will ultimately want to buy versus me having to promote it, you know.
- 35:26SPEAKER_06: So yeah, um, yeah, I love that gold.
- 35:29SPEAKER_00: Yeah, we'll put your handle to your Instagram uh uh name and all that stuff.
- 35:34SPEAKER_00: We'll put it in there so they can follow you on there too.
- 35:36SPEAKER_00: And they can send you directly, like they can message you directly and you know, give you back uh some feedback.
- 35:41SPEAKER_06: Yeah, that's awesome.
- 35:42SPEAKER_06: Yeah, like the Arab card game on Instagram and TikTok.
- 35:46SPEAKER_06: And yeah, I mean, I honestly for this game is what got me onto TikTok.
- 35:50SPEAKER_06: I was not on TikTok before.
- 35:52SPEAKER_03: No, man, you gotta get on there.
- 35:53SPEAKER_03: It's but you know, you have to also be like very wary of like the TikTok vortex because once you start scrolling, you can never stop.
- 36:02SPEAKER_03: Let me tell you.
- 36:03SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no, but they make it so easy, though.
- 36:05SPEAKER_00: They make easy, and their their algorithm is a lot nicer than Instagrams.
- 36:08SPEAKER_00: That's for sure.
- 36:09SPEAKER_06: I agree.
- 36:09SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 36:11SPEAKER_00: It's it's tougher on Instagram.
- 36:13SPEAKER_06: I started looking at TikTok with like my glasses down, like looking at like this, and then you know, after that, of like talking the TikTok lingo and stuff like that.
- 36:22SPEAKER_03: So it's been yeah, that's that's kind of how that's kind of how it happens.
- 36:26SPEAKER_03: But no, I'm I'm very excited to play this game with um, I'm actually really excited to play this game with like my nieces and nephews because they're teenagers, so I think they're gonna have a blast because those guys are first generation, and I think a lot of the stuff they can identify with.
- 36:40SPEAKER_03: So I'm gonna play around with them and I'll let you know what they think.
- 36:43SPEAKER_05: Awesome, awesome, awesome.
- 36:45SPEAKER_00: Well, thank you so much, Sharif.
- 36:46SPEAKER_00: We really appreciate it.
- 36:47SPEAKER_00: Thank you so much for coming on.
- 36:48SPEAKER_00: We finally made it work.
- 36:49SPEAKER_00: It took us a couple of weeks, but we made it work.
- 36:52SPEAKER_00: Yeah, um, and we really appreciate you being here, and I can't wait to play one-on-one with Hanan.
- 36:58SPEAKER_06: No, I appreciate you guys like uh giving me the opportunity to speak to you.
- 37:01SPEAKER_06: It's been a ton of fun, and it's our pleasure.
- 37:04SPEAKER_03: Yeah, no, this was a lot of fun, and thank you, thank you for sending these.
- 37:07SPEAKER_03: I'm very excited because I'm terrible at doing I'm not terrible at doing research, I just like don't do research.
- 37:13SPEAKER_03: Let's be real.
- 37:14SPEAKER_03: Lena is the one, and I've said this so many times, Lena is literally like our producer, she's our lighting guy, she's our editing guy.
- 37:20SPEAKER_03: I literally just show up nice and I do her makeup.
- 37:24SPEAKER_00: That's it.
- 37:24SPEAKER_00: That's all I do my own today.
- 37:26SPEAKER_00: Thank you very much.
- 37:26SPEAKER_00: So if it looks if I look like a clown, I'm sorry guys, like I'm not with Hanan today.
- 37:30SPEAKER_06: So I expect you guys to be together because every time I see my together, it's a little late.
- 37:35SPEAKER_00: So the the thing with uh the thing with this stuff is I I always tell Han, if we have a guest, we should do it remotely.
- 37:41SPEAKER_00: Why?
- 37:42SPEAKER_00: Because like the audio is better, like she has her own mic, I have my own mic, but of course, Hanan, you know, she lost her her wire to her mic.
- 37:49SPEAKER_03: But can I tell you that this wire mic situation, Lena, and I I'm always playing like cat and mouse with this freaking wire.
- 37:56SPEAKER_03: I'm always like, oh my god, I don't have the right wire.
- 37:57SPEAKER_03: And today I'm like, Lena, I only have the wire that looks like this.
- 38:01SPEAKER_00: She ordered a replacement like a month ago and she lost the replacement.
- 38:04SPEAKER_00: Henan, what am I gonna do with you?
- 38:06SPEAKER_00: We're gonna find if he's our guest, we're gonna fight in front of Shane.
- 38:09SPEAKER_06: It's all right.
- 38:10SPEAKER_06: I've watched the podcast, I've seen enough fights.
- 38:12SPEAKER_00: So did you see her pranking me?
- 38:15SPEAKER_06: Yeah, that was hilarious.
- 38:16SPEAKER_06: Come on, that was the reaction to the and the slow-mo.
- 38:20SPEAKER_03: Oh my god.
- 38:21SPEAKER_03: Oh my god.
- 38:22SPEAKER_03: Can I tell you?
- 38:23SPEAKER_03: I was out with my sister and two of our friends uh on Friday night, and they watched that playback probably like 10 times, and it just kept pausing at the it was perfect, like right.
- 38:40SPEAKER_05: The the face when you got scared was just amazing.
- 38:43SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I was like, why would you do that?
- 38:44SPEAKER_02: Just like oh, I had it in my phone.
- 38:45SPEAKER_02: See says right here, prank had in.
- 38:48SPEAKER_06: Yeah, if I have a to-do list.
- 38:51SPEAKER_06: If I knew in real life, like that would be like a lock screen image, you know, like but see what just happened here.
- 38:59SPEAKER_00: Can I tell you we tried saying bye like 10 minutes ago and the Arab way, yeah?
- 39:04SPEAKER_00: We just don't know how to say bye.
- 39:05SPEAKER_00: We don't know.
- 39:07SPEAKER_00: That needs to be a card.
- 39:09SPEAKER_06: I did want to mention the I see the Cairo trilogy book up there.
- 39:14SPEAKER_06: Um not a lot of people.
- 39:15SPEAKER_06: I don't I haven't seen a lot of Arab households, but no man, of course.
- 39:19SPEAKER_00: I love that stuff.
- 39:20SPEAKER_00: No, no, no, yeah, it is, it's amazing.
- 39:23SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you only get the same backdrop that Lena and I have all the time because we film in the same spot.
- 39:28SPEAKER_00: Well, this is this desk is my kid's uh area where he plays video games all day.
- 39:32SPEAKER_05: So nice, nice, yeah.
- 39:34SPEAKER_03: You know, like you said, we gotta make it work.
- 39:35SPEAKER_03: We gotta make it work absolutely.
- 39:38SPEAKER_03: But again, Shitty, thank you so much for coming on.
- 39:41SPEAKER_03: We really appreciate it.
- 39:42SPEAKER_03: Thank you for sending these.
- 39:43SPEAKER_03: We're gonna Lena and I are gonna play a game.
- 39:45SPEAKER_03: We're gonna film our we're gonna film ourselves playing this game because I know it's gonna be a freaking riot.
- 39:49SPEAKER_03: Yes, I can't wait.
- 39:50SPEAKER_03: So, and I cannot wait to see the expansion packs and think please, can you make one on song like like song lyrics?
- 39:57SPEAKER_03: Because that definitely I'm willing to write you all the lyrics.
- 40:01SPEAKER_06: Okay, okay.
- 40:02SPEAKER_06: Yeah, like my my like music knowledge is like from like right when I like I feel like after I started having kids, I stopped listening to as much music, and and that's like what worries me of like trying to do that.
- 40:16SPEAKER_04: You stop having fun.
- 40:18SPEAKER_06: Yeah, like I just became such a boring person.
- 40:21SPEAKER_00: No, no, no, no.
- 40:22SPEAKER_00: There's the the fun.
- 40:23SPEAKER_00: I see the fun, it's there, man.
- 40:25SPEAKER_00: You doing this there, yeah.
- 40:26SPEAKER_00: It's there.
- 40:27SPEAKER_06: That's awesome.
- 40:28SPEAKER_06: It's a good one.
- 40:29SPEAKER_06: I'll I'll definitely do it like a music and movies one.
- 40:32SPEAKER_00: Yeah, awesome.
- 40:33SPEAKER_06: So that's great.
- 40:34SPEAKER_00: Thank you so much.
- 40:35SPEAKER_00: I appreciate it, guys.
- 40:36SPEAKER_00: Yeah, thank you.
- 40:37SPEAKER_00: Thank you.
