- 0:02This is an Unspoiled Network podcast. This is spoil Me, covering one piece
- 0:11episodes five oh six, five oh seven, and five oh eight straw Hats
- 0:16in shock, the bad news has reached them, reunited with Dark King Railey,
- 0:21decision time for Loofy and back to our captain, a jail break at
- 0:26the Sky Island, and the incident on the Winter Island. In these episodes,
- 0:34our friends are hearing what happened and determined to get back and be with
- 0:39Loufy during his time of need, and a lot of them are beating themselves
- 0:44up for wasting so much time, to which I say, yeah, what
- 0:49were you thinking. Welcome to spoil Me, Welcome to the show everyone.
- 1:11I am Natasha. Thank you very much to Florian for commissioning this episode,
- 1:17and Florian is here with me in the chat. Delighted to see you as
- 1:19always. Oh, I did it again. It's Michael today. I always
- 1:27do this and I'm so sorry. Michael. Please accept my sincerest apologies.
- 1:32I put Michael on the schedule for another few episodes in June, I think,
- 1:38and I had to credit them to Florie because Michael doesn't have an account
- 1:41on my booking system, so I have really got to be on top of
- 1:46this from now on. You guys, these episodes it's such a weird mixture
- 1:55of shit that just does not matter at all and stuff that I definitely want
- 2:02to know about, do you know what I'm saying? We are all over
- 2:06the place, And it's really funny how much the different activities going on with
- 2:16each of the characters vary in terms of how actually plot heavy they were,
- 2:24how difficult it's going to be for them to extricate themselves from the situations that
- 2:29they're in. Like the the overall sense for me with these three is I
- 2:40am glad that we're coming back together, that they're going to try and find
- 2:44their way back. I still don't really have a clear idea how far away
- 2:51each of them is from him. I'm assuming they are not like equidistant from
- 2:55him, you know, that they weren't all shot into directions like an asterisk,
- 3:02but that they are sort of irregularly placed. I don't know how that
- 3:07power works or anything. So I'm trying to like consider who I think would
- 3:14be able to catch up with Louvi the fastest, and I really have no
- 3:17idea because as we know, like the climate of a place doesn't mean anything
- 3:23in terms of the UH distance from a place because the way the climate behaves
- 3:29here just doesn't make any real sense. So what I'm hoping for is I
- 3:37was just like trying to think through and you know, the first person that
- 3:42I would really like is Chopper, because what I was considering was who is
- 3:50the most sensitive out of our crew, Who is going to be a person
- 3:54who when somebody has suffered a major loss, is going to be able to
- 4:00like really listen and be there in a way that feels like you're being seen
- 4:05and heard. The only thing is I don't remember if Chopper was with them
- 4:13in Alabasta. You guys, I feel like Chopper wasn't part of the crew
- 4:17by then, Am I wrong? Because if he wasn't, I don't think
- 4:25Chopper's ever met Ace, and I think that if he hasn't, I would
- 4:31probably prefer us UP. Us Up and Lufy are just really able to bond
- 4:39both over their enormous appetites and their goofy, childlike approach to everything in the
- 4:45world. So I feel like Usup would be able to both celebrate Ace's life
- 4:53and be like, yeah, that guy was a badass, and also cry
- 4:57and also eat, and I don't know that any somebody else is going to
- 5:00be able to like really hold him down like that. Obviously, the idea
- 5:05would be that everybody would show up at the same time and we'd all have
- 5:10an amazing party where Sanji cooked for everybody, and Robin was the one who
- 5:16like wrote this very moving, maybe historically based eulogy of some kind, and
- 5:25Frankie would make an amazing mechanized memorial for Ace. I don't know, you
- 5:31know what I'm saying, but uh, I don't. I have no idea
- 5:34how this is going to shake out. Florian says, I was thinking about
- 5:40Chopper as well, and he also has birds, so it feels right he
- 5:45also has birds. Oh you mean, like in terms of maybe being able
- 5:50to like fly back to see Louviy. That didn't occur to me, But
- 5:55that's a good point. He was an alabasta, okay, he was.
- 6:00I have it's been such a while, guys, I really have to admire
- 6:05the fact that you guys are able to keep things so clearly in your minds
- 6:10over time about the show, because I've only been watching it for several years
- 6:15now and I am really losing some of the information from the beginning of the
- 6:20show five hundred episodes later. And y'all must watch this so like repeatedly to
- 6:27be able to hold it and really keep it in your brain. Either that
- 6:30or you just consume a lot of ancillary material that sort of like reinforces the
- 6:35memory in your head. But it is just so much to keep straight.
- 6:39I don't know how you guys do it. His island was the one before
- 6:43that, the Winter Island. Okay, I couldn't remember if it came before
- 6:46or after Alabasta. Okay, that makes sense, all right, So let's
- 6:50start with five oh six. The straw Hats are in shock. This is
- 6:58the opening of the episode, is Loofy again, his moment of I miss
- 7:04my crew and I wish that they were here right now, and just sobbing
- 7:10crying to remind us of how he's feeling. And then we go over to
- 7:15the weird like nightmare before Christmas sort of world that Zorro wound up in,
- 7:26which is called gloom Island. I had completely forgot about these creatures that show
- 7:35up, which are eventually revealed to be apes of some kind. But the
- 7:41way that the lightning flashes initially and highlights them, they really just look like
- 7:46straight up monsters. And eventually the you know, the fight that they get
- 7:50into, it's I guess maybe they're meant to be babboons. I'm looking at
- 7:54the markings on their faces, but uh, they are really really intelligent.
- 8:03And the way that they're conversing with each other, even though Zoro can't understand
- 8:09them, it suggested to me that there is potential for him to break through
- 8:16and understand what it is they're actually saying to each other and like maybe befriend
- 8:24them, maybe ally with them. One of these dudes is like literally breakdancing,
- 8:30not breakdancing, like actually, but that's what it looks like when he's
- 8:33fighting Zoro and kicking him, and they are wearing armor and they've got actual
- 8:41weapons, Like it's not like they're just over here shrieking and clawing at him.
- 8:46They have distinctly human characteristics. And when Zoro takes down one of these,
- 8:56all of the guys on the side who are watching, there's like a
- 9:00bunch of them that start cheering in a way that felt almost like a spectatorly
- 9:05fashion, like they were going, yeah, that's right, show him,
- 9:09And I was like, wait, why are they not also jumping him.
- 9:16As his back is turned, one of these pulls out a fucking rifle and
- 9:24takes a shot at him, and I was like, excuse me, what
- 9:28are you playing with swords for? Then you've got fucking guns and he uses
- 9:33his twister move to send a bunch of them like flying out into the woods.
- 9:39But guys, just you know the overall vibe here when they appeared,
- 9:45I thought it was gonna be a fight with monsters, and instead it's like
- 9:50these sort of humanoid you know, they're they're not just baboons. They have
- 9:56a look to them that is more developed up at least like on their legs.
- 10:03They're just very human like. And at one point they open up his
- 10:09wound and Zoro is sort of like, is that what they were trying to
- 10:13do all along? As he's standing there and he's sort of fading in and
- 10:16out, one of them is coming toward him with this huge hammer and sends
- 10:22him flying into a wall. This cracked me up. He just like collapses
- 10:26and when he's down there, what is her name? I keep wanting to
- 10:33say Prosecco, but she's she is like you're not dead, are you?
- 10:41And he says, now is not the time to annoy me, and she's
- 10:45like, I was actually worried about your welfare and you're accusing me of being
- 10:50annoying, So yeah, why don't you just go get eaten by monkeys?
- 10:52What the fuck do I care? Basically, and pirona, thank you,
- 10:58Florian. Florian says he's seen One Piece at least twenty times. Oh my
- 11:05god. That is so that has like when did you start watching One Piece?
- 11:11Florian? I feel like that has to be like the course of decades,
- 11:15right, Like, so Zora is sitting there and he's in this like,
- 11:24Okay, what am I gonna do? I definitely can't beat these guys,
- 11:28and he's just sort of considering and as he is, all of the
- 11:33monkeys apes whatever, I think they're called human drills human drills in the subtitles.
- 11:41I'm not sure how you're meant to say that, but all of them
- 11:43get this really weird expression on their face, and I was like, did
- 11:48I miss something? What's going on? And I didn't miss anything. It's
- 11:52just them acknowledging something that is about to happen because they have the ability to
- 11:58sense it. Zoro also senses it, and it turns out to be Hawkeye
- 12:05Mihawk, who is here with news. He apparently tracked Zoro down explicitly to
- 12:13give him this information. Not entirely sure why except for just like the sake
- 12:20of honor, I guess, But it's interesting to me that, like,
- 12:26despite really doing his best to try and kill Loofy, like really going for
- 12:31it, he is this committed to getting the word out about what has happened
- 12:41to Loofy. A strange character, this guy kind of sending mixed messages here.
- 12:48So then we go to the story with Chopper at Birdie Kingdom. So,
- 12:54y'all, this is just so difficult because these native characters, y'all,
- 13:03Like there was little enough with them that I was able to just sort of
- 13:07scoot on past it. But I just really can't with these guys. Like,
- 13:16first of all, there's the distinct, like minstrelly vibe of the way
- 13:26that they are illustrated with the lips and perfectly round eyes and everything, which
- 13:31is really wild, the very very exaggerated features that keep them from looking even
- 13:39entirely human, their accents, which are the nineteen ten like movie equivalent of
- 13:52Native American accent. It is just really really bad. I it was it's
- 14:00so hard to like get through this, and it's a shame because otherwise I
- 14:05felt like the story could have been somewhat interesting, but because they're played as
- 14:11being idiots, like they even though Chopper is talking and they can clearly understand
- 14:16him, this guy is saying it's clear that Chopper can't talk, and one
- 14:22of the other kids has to be like, well, then how come you
- 14:26understood what he said? And it's just a back and forth sort of like
- 14:31it's meant to be farcical, but because of the other baggage associated with this
- 14:37depiction, it just feels super racist and it is just deeply, deeply uncomfortable,
- 14:46Like the whole thing just felt so wrong. So I'm gonna try and
- 14:52just sort of do this one quickly. There is some sort of illness spreading
- 14:58through this tribe of people, and there is a particular plant that is really
- 15:03effective in treating it, but they aren't given access to it the way they
- 15:09normally are because of these birds. And it's unclear to me whether they were
- 15:16able to access it before and then the birds like moved in and stopped letting
- 15:22them in, or if it's that the birds used to let them in and
- 15:26now they don't anymore. I think it's like that second one. But the
- 15:33drug that they used the herb when Chopper got injured because they were about to
- 15:41roast him, he got like burned on his little buttons a little behind,
- 15:46and they give him this herb and he rubs it on it like immediately seems
- 15:50to heal it. So he is just really interested in this as well as
- 15:54a doctor, and realizing that this is something that could help them and these
- 16:00people will definitely actually die from this, he starts to get pretty invested.
- 16:04So he decides that he's gonna go and speak to the birds and ask them
- 16:14politely about letting in these folks to get the herb. Now, the problem
- 16:23is that despite the fact that Chopper can talk to animals, the animal has
- 16:29to like want to actually fully communicate with you in order for that to work
- 16:33the way that it needs to work. So he goes up and instantly gets
- 16:37this sort of like weird statement from the bird of like, what do you
- 16:42mean they'll never get treasure? What treasure? And as soon as he says
- 16:48that, this other bird comes careening in from the other direction and is attacking
- 16:55him and sends him flying and I was just like birds. He's just trying
- 17:00to have a perfectly reasonable conversation. Why can't you just like talk? He's
- 17:07not a person, And he explained to you why they want to get up
- 17:14here. He says, why do you hate humans? Why do you want
- 17:18them to suffer? And he uses a rumble ball in order to keep himself
- 17:22from really getting hurt the way that they're tossing him around. Meanwhile, the
- 17:27tribe has decided, like, we didn't want to do this, but we're
- 17:30gonna have to take all these birds out because we're trying to protect our family,
- 17:36you know, So we're gonna do whatever we need to do. And
- 17:44Chopper is like on the ground. He turns back into his normal self after
- 17:48this rumble ball wears off, and he puts himself between the explosion. And
- 18:00I don't know exactly how this because it looks like an explosion. I don't
- 18:03think it's meant to be. But somebody sent a spear heading towards one of
- 18:10those birds, and basically Chopper took the hit, but there was a look
- 18:15to it like it was on fire or something exploded. And as he's falling,
- 18:22Chopper is like, neither of them will listen to a single word I'm
- 18:26saying, and he's falling to what would have been certain death, but then
- 18:30get saved by that adorable chick who is riding on the back of its mother.
- 18:37I'm assuming mother, and I love Chopper. All right, listen up
- 18:44this time, This big round chick, you guys, is absolutely the best.
- 18:52I love this weird marshmallow bird peeps, take note. If you're gonna
- 18:59make marshmallow birds, this is what they should look like. Basically perfectly spherical,
- 19:04with a tiny little like curl of a feather on the front, a
- 19:08beacon eyes, and that's it. That's it. Florian says, Uh,
- 19:17maybe this is blank, but these birds are ugly. Or maybe this is
- 19:21just me, but these birds are ugly, Florian, it is not just
- 19:25you, babe. These birds are super fucking ugly. They're very unattractive,
- 19:30they really really are. They're they're sort of like this weird mix of the
- 19:37silhouette kind of of a flamingo, but the coloring of like there's a bird
- 19:44in Mexico that I'm thinking of, the kets All I think it's called and
- 19:49uh, the just the whole thing is is unattractive. Put together, those
- 19:55long snaky necks. They have almost a big bird thing going up with the
- 20:00feathers all around their faces at the top. Just yeah, do not like
- 20:03it, but yeah. It turns out that these birds like treasure and that
- 20:14they had collected treasure because it was just something that they enjoy, sparkly things.
- 20:19And eventually there were some fucking humans who came and stole all of their
- 20:26shit and chase them away, and that was what they thought these humans were
- 20:32after as well, was just treasure. So when they realize it's the plant
- 20:37that they need, these birds are literally, like I was gonna say,
- 20:41hand delivering it, I guess you'd say, beak delivering. And Chopper is
- 20:48like, all right, well that's great, guys. As soon as you've
- 20:49got more of that ointment, I could definitely use some. And then he
- 20:53just like passes out and when he wakes up, he goes outside and some
- 21:00of the humans are actually giving the birds sparkly things to give to say thank
- 21:07you. You know, this is something that I would love to try,
- 21:11and I know that, like, I have the information to set this up,
- 21:15but not the will yet. I think I've even got the supplies.
- 21:22But there are people who have like made a little landing area for crows that
- 21:30have a sort of open space. It's easy to see that reflects sunlight,
- 21:37and they put items there. And evidently crows, being very smart and sort
- 21:41of like social and transactional, will bring you things back if you leave them
- 21:48like cool little shiny trinkets that interest them. They will find stuff and bring
- 21:53it and leave it in place of what you left outside if they have begun
- 21:59to feel that there is a real relationship between the two of you. And
- 22:04it's been sort of fascinating to me and I wanted to try it. But
- 22:07also I'm starting a like vegetable garden this year, and I just don't know
- 22:11if I want to be asking crows to hang around. I feel like they're
- 22:15gonna eat my tomatoes, and like I'm pretty protective of my tomatoes. I
- 22:18just don't want any of that action, I don't think anyway. We then
- 22:25go to like just a very brief moment of Chopper opening the newspaper and his
- 22:30eyes widening as he realizes what the front page says, and we don't actually
- 22:38see I don't think any more of him. I think that's all we get.
- 22:42But uh, yeah, the birds, that could be a good possibility
- 22:48for him because he's definitely we've seen him ride them a couple times now.
- 22:55So let me go to Nami. I look, I'm gonna be honest.
- 23:03Name's story line here is the weirdest. It's it's not just like the fact
- 23:11that the story itself has so many fantastical elements with the weather stuff, like
- 23:21she's currently working in a weather field where they grow weather balls like as if
- 23:27they're cabbages, but also that she this is an island that's so absolutely perfectly
- 23:44suited to her interest compared to everybody else, like where they have wound up
- 23:52has been. I won't say it's irrelevant because ultimate I think each of them
- 24:00were sent there on purpose because of whatever their specialty is and their need for
- 24:08exploring that side of themselves. So you know, you have people who are
- 24:15being oppressed like Robin was, and she needs to help them. You've got
- 24:19people who are exploring their feminine side instead of just like sexualizing women. With
- 24:26Sanji, you've got the I don't know what you would say because we still
- 24:32haven't really found out what's going on with these baboon creatures. So I'm gonna
- 24:34say that one with Zoro. But the fact that they knew well, I
- 24:40was gonna say they knew who Mihawk was, but maybe they didn't. They
- 24:42may have just felt his aura and been like, Okay, we're out.
- 24:47Then with Chopper, he winds up somewhere that has like this incredible plant that
- 24:52has all of these healing properties. Those are all feeling pretty on the nose.
- 25:00I don't really get why he's wound up where he has how that has
- 25:07relevance to him specifically, but maybe that's coming uh And yeah, and like
- 25:14Frankie's is pretty self evident. But this with with Nomy, how much she's
- 25:22like I won't say she's uninterested, because she's not. She wants to know,
- 25:29but it's like, I guess it's just part of her character that despite
- 25:33being interested and wanting to know and like allegedly being willing not me just fights
- 25:41tooth and nail the whole time in a way that is just making everything harder
- 25:47on her and everybody around her than simply communicating would have done. And so
- 25:53she's over here working in this field and they're just standing watching and she she
- 26:00gets so irritated at the fact that they're like criticizing her, which she should
- 26:04and As she's doing this, the newspaper is dropped in one of their hands,
- 26:11and she spots the front page and like grabs it out of his hands
- 26:15and is reading it. And later on we come back and find out that
- 26:19she has started to take the uh, she started to try to leave the
- 26:26island, but she's treating it like she's escaping a prison. Now. I
- 26:33don't recall if she did anything that warranted her having to absolutely stay there.
- 26:38Forgive me, if it's just been so long, you know, there's been
- 26:41so many things to keep track of, But the attitude that they take with
- 26:47her attempting to get away, I was sort of like, wait, why
- 26:49are they upset about this? So we jump right from there though, before
- 26:55any of that even happens, to oos up on the island eating and y'all
- 27:03this I'm I'm over it. I'm over it. I don't want any more
- 27:08of it. I don't need any more of the like fat jokes. There's
- 27:15even a what if you get diabetes? Yo? Anybody out there who has
- 27:22this like urge to make a diabetes joke about somebody who's gaining weight, let
- 27:30me just ask you to please not do that. Okay, Now, I
- 27:36don't have diabetes. I I'm actually my blood sugar is like kind of amazing
- 27:41considering how heavy I am. But people who actually do have diabetes are very,
- 27:52very sick of this joke. And there are plenty of people who have
- 27:55a type of diabetes that you are born with that isn't something that comes upon
- 27:59you later in life, and it's irrelevant in their case. But people don't
- 28:04make that distinction, and it's just tired, and it's like ablest it's just
- 28:11like low key shitty, you know. There's just a sort of implication with
- 28:15it that, if you read it backwards, is anybody who has diabetes brought
- 28:23it on themselves? Kind of vibe and I just it's just gross, you
- 28:29know, Like there are so many factors that play into developing diabetes, and
- 28:33some of them are choices, but some of them are also like sociological,
- 28:37ecological, economical, cultural, So just mind your own business and don't make
- 28:45those jokes because it's tired. It's just so tired. And the overall thing
- 28:52here is eventually that he sees the newspaper and isn't listening to heracle when he's
- 29:00trying to tell him, you've got to like get it together, dude,
- 29:03until he sees the newspaper and realizes that like, Lufy's in trouble and he
- 29:10has been sitting around eating this whole time when his friend is in need of
- 29:15support, and that Lufy would have been there for him during his hour of
- 29:18need. So he absolutely needs to, you know, fix the problems that
- 29:25he is creating for himself here and get on the road. Then we go
- 29:33to Soangy and he gets the newspaper and it's very funny the way they do
- 29:37this, where they have him get so angry as he reads it that all
- 29:41of his makeup melts off and like his fake eyelashes fall off as well,
- 29:48so he's just yelling like what the hell is this? He has one of
- 29:52the briefest moments out of anybody. And then we go to Robin who is
- 29:59being like a huge coat because it's still snowing and she's still wearing one of
- 30:03those like jumpsuits that's unzipped to her navel basically, and let's see, Oh
- 30:15yeah, what's her name? Bunny? Bunny Joe. I think she's like,
- 30:19all right, Robin, we all know who you are. You have
- 30:22to come with us, And Robin says I understand that, but I have
- 30:27to see all of my friends soon. I have to go to them.
- 30:30When you say your friends, are you referring to the straw Hat Pirates,
- 30:34because we happen to have a bit of information about them that might be of
- 30:38interest to you, and that's how she gets her info. Then we go
- 30:45to Frankie and he's over here in this laboratory delighting in the feeling of cola
- 30:52filling his veins? Is that what I want to call it? And let's
- 31:03see, Oh yeah, here's this this polar bear. I forgot about this
- 31:06whole thing. This thing is so crazy looking. It punched me straight into
- 31:10a fridge full of cola, and then I torched him. So I'd say,
- 31:15everything's pretty cool. And as he says that a facts comes through you,
- 31:22guys, I could not believe that that was the way. It makes
- 31:26sense, honestly, but the facts that got me that was cracking me out.
- 31:34Then we go to Brook and he's over here writing a bunch of music,
- 31:38singing, and these weirdos are listening in and saying, how like terrifying
- 31:45The lamentation is that he's writing, he's summoning his legions to place an unspeakable
- 31:51curse upon the entire long Armed tribe. And as he says this, we
- 31:57see Brooke inside and he thinks, I just lost my train of thought.
- 32:05And I think it's because this guy was like speaking on the outside. But
- 32:10yeah, he just gasps, and we go inside and he says forty five
- 32:17degree slant. Wait, shouldn't it be sixty? I don't understand what that
- 32:22even means. I don't know what that like, that joke like it,
- 32:30I have no idea. And then is this my punishment for all those painties?
- 32:36Which actually was pretty funny. I hate to admit but it was,
- 32:39but that slant, don't. I don't get what's going on with that joke.
- 32:46I'm so sorry. I feel like I really miss something there. Florian
- 32:52says, you make me look at this in such a different way. With
- 32:54Nammy, I mean, I love her, but why is she so mean
- 32:57to these weather wizards? That's what I'm saying. This weird like this should
- 33:00be this shit that she gets like that she's so excited to learn, and
- 33:05that other people who are able to tell her lots of new information and talk
- 33:10like that's the sort of thing that should make her nerd out and get excited,
- 33:14and instead she just seems pissed, you know, And I'm like,
- 33:17why are you like this? What's going on? But anyway, so this
- 33:27is when we have the delivering of the information from Miehawk to Zorro, and
- 33:32we go like back over everybody's faces as they read the news and clearly all
- 33:42come to the same conclusion that we need to get together with him as quickly
- 33:45as we can. And then we just see the back of Loofy and jump
- 33:50to the next episode. Everybody is like beginning their attempts to get to where
- 33:55they want to go and to find him again. The island that we start
- 34:02off with is it's so weird because these guys are on the shore, well
- 34:09they're on a cliff and they're watching a sea king just get the shit be
- 34:14beaten out of it in the water. And it turns out to be Raleigh
- 34:21who is like fucking the sea king up. But the way that this was
- 34:28really reminding me of and I'm wondering if this is who he was picturing when
- 34:35he wrote it. But in Cradle there is a north Strider character who fights
- 34:43sea serpents while underwater and has a kind of aesthetic that I would not say
- 34:51is unlike Raleigh. Actually he's meant to be like dark haired, I believe,
- 34:59but jacked attractive, almost a sort of like unkempt. Almost could look
- 35:07like he sleeps on the streets if it weren't for the fact that he has
- 35:10clearly been enjoying peak nutrition and gym equipment kind of look. So that was
- 35:16who all of a sudden, I was like, oh, shiz is that
- 35:20where he was getting the sort of north Strider thing from, you know?
- 35:24But yeah, he comes to shore and uh he's just right in front of
- 35:34law Trafalgar Law, and it's like, oh, yeah, I remember you
- 35:37from Sabode and he says so funny story things that kind of rocky. In
- 35:43the storm, my ship sank, so I had no choice but to swim
- 35:46here. And I had been wondering what was up with him and where he
- 35:53was, And there was a mention like, I think that we saw him
- 35:55briefly on the island, and I just assumed that he was holding himself apart
- 36:04and not getting involved. But evidently he did try to come over and it
- 36:09just he hit a snag. So you killed that giant thing with your bare
- 36:19hands, And Beppa says I have actual bare hands, and I couldn't do
- 36:27that. I loved that joke so much, you guys, Oh that was
- 36:37just chef's kiss that that's a good fucking pun. Man. I love that
- 36:40they just decided to go for it with that one. Appreciate you, oh
- 36:45man. So he this is when he says, something tells me Luviy's on
- 36:52this island? Is that correct? And understandably a little bit later, the
- 37:00I can't remember the name Nyo? Is that her name? The old lady
- 37:07has a name with the same lettering as the way that she pronounced things,
- 37:10and I can't remember how it goes, but she understandably is sort of like,
- 37:16Okay, here's my issue, the fact that Lufy is here and he
- 37:22was able to find him so easily. Yeah, there are buds, So
- 37:25it's fine that he's here, But if he was able to put two and
- 37:30two together that quickly, then somebody else might also and that could be a
- 37:35fucking problem. Like the whole point of keeping him here is so that he
- 37:38can rest, but we wind up getting some more info about exactly where he
- 37:44got this information. So let's jump over to fucking Boa. Hancock is absolutely
- 37:55off her rocker at this point, this which is giving like like crazy girlfriend
- 38:06that meme. You know, she's like doing finger puppets of herself and Loofy
- 38:13talking to each other. Your girl needs a vibrator and some an array of
- 38:28other men to remind her that there are other efficiency she is just So it's
- 38:37weird because like I want to call her digmatized, but she hasn't fucked him,
- 38:40so that's not what's happening. And in a way I can understand how
- 38:46like the thing that's going on with her is sort of similar to what happens
- 38:51with Edward and Bella, right, where he reads everybody's minds and here comes
- 38:55this girl who's mind he can't read, and he's like word and that just
- 38:59immediately his attention and has him more interested. So she has this power where
- 39:04she can just make men fall in love with her and then Lufy has no
- 39:07reaction. Of course, that's going to make you just more interested. It's
- 39:12sort of a default thing that anybody who manages to sidestep something that has worked
- 39:17consistently for you is gonna make you stop and pay attention. But oh boy,
- 39:25oh boy, oh god, Florian says, I love this, but
- 39:29I will have to send you the Japanese version. She is killing it here.
- 39:31Ooh, I am very interested. My heart is aflame with affection.
- 39:39I can feel the desire building up inside me. And as she says that,
- 39:45she like wraps her arms around herself and like wriggles her tits, and
- 39:49I was just like, y'all need to calm down. And this old lady
- 39:57says, you are hopeless. I told you any man can remember your name,
- 40:05but that doesn't mean you're married. And Boa says, oh, then
- 40:10what is marriage? What else is there to do? And Yo says and
- 40:15I'm gonna call her neyol because I can't remember her name. That is a
- 40:19difficult question to answer. And that's the end of that scene, which I
- 40:23thought was hilarious. That like just being like, I remember your name and
- 40:32that's enough. And when somebody's like, so you need more than that for
- 40:35marriage, and somebody's like I can't think of anything, Like okay, well,
- 40:45I feel like you should have been able to think of a lot of
- 40:47things right immediately off the top. But sure, And I'm really curious how
- 40:54long this is gonna go on, like not in terms of I'm so sick
- 41:00of this plot line. With Boa that I wanted to end. That's not
- 41:01what I mean. What I mean is Loofy is not into her, But
- 41:08I don't feel like he is into anybody. I don't feel like he's against
- 41:14her. He's just like viewing her as a bud the same way that he
- 41:19views everybody. And there is a part of me that I could see,
- 41:24like I could see Boa being like, so, my love, I've made
- 41:31our wedding and we're going to get married, right, And I could see
- 41:36Loofy just being like, oh, well, I mean I wasn't planning on
- 41:38it, but yeah, sure, let's go ahead and just not really caring
- 41:44about it because it's so irrelevant ultimately to anything else that why shouldn't you get
- 41:50married? Who cares? Like? What does it matter? You know?
- 41:55That said? He obviously isn't staying on this island. He will be leaving.
- 42:01So the only solution to that is either that Boa is okay with having
- 42:06a husband who travels the high seas and leaves her for long periods at a
- 42:09time, or she comes with him, which I do not see happening.
- 42:15That's just not it's not happening. It just that would mean that she's become
- 42:20like a part of the crew and there's no fucking way. I'm just thinking
- 42:29how fucking Soanji would react to her and yikes. So I have no idea
- 42:37where this is going, Like, I don't think Lufy is just gonna break
- 42:43her heart. I feel like whatever is going to happen has to sustain this
- 42:47illusion for her and make it an ongoing thing, because there are so many
- 42:53things that can be done if you've got somebody in the position she's in in
- 42:59terms of her being a warlord and being on Loofy's side and willing to defend
- 43:07him, you don't get rid of that advantage, right, Like, we're
- 43:14gonna want to hold onto that so that he can keep taking advantage of that.
- 43:19But the question of them being a couple has to be answered in some
- 43:25way, and I really don't know what that's gonna look like. So that's
- 43:30that's my main question at this point. So we go back to uh Jimbay,
- 43:37who is carrying Loofy on his back, and he goes out to where
- 43:43the submarine had been, and that's when they see Raley and he's like,
- 43:47they can't have just left, did they? So yeah, Raley says,
- 43:55oh no, Lufy says, I was gonna use my beaver car to go
- 43:59to Ibaioti since my friends are waiting there, and he asks Raley if he
- 44:06has seen them, and he says, no, I don't think that they
- 44:08have made it there yet. And I handed my beaver card to Shocky,
- 44:15so now I can no one can find me and I can go wherever I
- 44:19please. Jimmy, for his part, is really impressed with the fact that
- 44:25Raley is here. This is like, you know, a dude who has
- 44:29a lot of power, and Jimmy was not prepared to meet him and is
- 44:32just literally sweating and it's adorable. Uh. Loofy gets his hat back and
- 44:40he's got these three cuts in the top and he's This is when Jimbay is
- 44:47like, all right, so what's happened to the submarines And Railey says,
- 44:52oh, yeah, he took off and he left a message for Loofy stay
- 44:58in bed for two more weeks, yes, and come on, now,
- 45:06that's just never happening. I mean, I'm just sort of imagining that he
- 45:10needed Lufy to stay in bed for two more days. And he decided to
- 45:15say two weeks the way that you tell somebody that a party starts at seven,
- 45:21when actually it doesn't start till eight, but they always run late,
- 45:24so you just tell them a different time, Like that's what I'm I'm gonna
- 45:29Headcannon happened here that he was like, all right, I need him to
- 45:31like lay low for two days. If I say two days, within like
- 45:36four hours, he's gonna be sprinting across the fucking island. So let me
- 45:39say two weeks, and then maybe I'll get two days out of him with
- 45:44that. You won't, but I can understand trying, you know. So
- 45:50this is when you go to a bunch of guys who are with law.
- 45:54I keep wanting to say Law like by itself, but I feel like I
- 45:58gotta say Trafalgar Law every time because Law by itself it just doesn't sound like
- 46:05a name, you know. It's just so anyway, they are once again
- 46:12underwater, and he is saying to the other guys that are in this submarine,
- 46:20I wonder what the Dark King is up to. It seems he is
- 46:24drawn to another man with the will of D What is I'm going to go
- 46:36ahead and assume that that is like the D initial. I know that this
- 46:44is not ODI's fault. Slang being what it is, changing and developing over
- 46:52time. There's no way that he could have foreseen this, right, I
- 46:55don't think maybe, but the will of D four ins in the chat,
- 47:07saying no, do not say it, all right, I won't say it,
- 47:13but you will know what I'm talking about. And we could have just
- 47:21done any other letter. We could have done any other letter and it would
- 47:29have been less hilarious. So maybe this is for the best. Maybe we
- 47:35want it to be the most hilarious. But you know, damn, so
- 47:44why is he being drawn men with the will of D. I'm so sorry
- 47:57you guys. I can't not think this is funny. What am I supposed
- 48:06to do? Ugh? Anyway, yone, that's her name. I was
- 48:12so close. So this is when Rayley is greeted by all of the lovely
- 48:19women of the island, and the only person that Boen notices is Loofy.
- 48:24She doesn't even say hi to Raleigh until like way later. It's as if
- 48:30she is noticing him for the very first time, which is really really funny.
- 48:36And she has brought this huge feast for Loofy and doesn't want Jimbae to
- 48:43eat any of it, and it's like you can have one bite, and
- 48:46he says how generous. I wish that Lufy had spoken up for her for
- 48:55Jimbay, because I feel like all it would need from him was of course
- 49:00you can have some, and Boa would immediately be like whatever he says,
- 49:06you know. But this is when Jon is bringing up the whole thing with
- 49:10Lufy and how it was easy for Rayley to find him apparently, and he's
- 49:19like, no, no, no, don't worry about it. So the
- 49:22first one who helped him escape in the archipelago told me that he would have
- 49:30been headed in this direction. So it's when he says escape from the archipelago,
- 49:37I'm like, wait a minute, hold on, And indeed we go
- 49:42back and see Kuma and he leans in and whispers, I work for the
- 49:49Revolutionary Army because straw Hat shares a connection with Dragon, I will let his
- 49:57crew escape, and Shaki, in this moment, says, oh, that's
- 50:05quite the twist, and I do really enjoy her, like just actually saying
- 50:12that out loud because it's funny. But yeah, that was like, you
- 50:15know, my suspicion here. I feel bad Kuma evidently isn't he. I
- 50:23don't think Kuma exists as himself anymore, and that fucking blows man anyway.
- 50:36So we see Shaki saying where did he send our monkey boy? And him
- 50:38saying beats me. Kuma says, I apologize for my abrupt manner earlier.
- 50:46Can I speak with you for a moment. I love how it's showing him
- 50:52coming up to the building that Reyley and Shaka are in. But Kuma is
- 50:59so humongous that not only can he not fit inside, but only one foot
- 51:05fits on the walkway outside, Like he can't even stand in front of the
- 51:09door because it's so he's so huge. It's like being like, come and
- 51:14knock at the door of a mousehole and stand in front of the door,
- 51:16like it's just there's no the proportions don't make sense. But yeah, this
- 51:24is when he says, I don't have much time as myself. Uh but
- 51:31he and that's like the last thing we get straight out of his mouth.
- 51:36And I was just like, Reley says, he told me what direction he'd
- 51:42sent him flying in, but that didn't necessarily even point to this island.
- 51:45But then some details came into light when I was looking into the events leading
- 51:50up to Marine Ford, namely the impaled down prison break caused by Lufy and
- 51:55the others. I spent a lot of time puzzling over how Lufy was able
- 52:00to infiltrate such a heavily guarded prison. It made enough sense that Lufy got
- 52:05there by stowing away on a Navy ship with Hancock, but it still didn't
- 52:08add up. And we find out that Shako was the one who was like,
- 52:15you know what, what if Hancock fell in love with Lufy immediately?
- 52:21That would actually make all of these pieces that seem to not fit anywhere fall
- 52:24into place immediately. And understandably, Rayley was just like, that would have
- 52:30been hilarious, but no, that's certainly not what happened. And coming into
- 52:36the present, he's like, that's that women's intuition there for you. This
- 52:42is one of those that I was talking about this with Owen the other night
- 52:45because we've been watching a lot of Poirot lately, and it was a really
- 52:51great moment because somebody attributes a woman being correct about something as women's intuition,
- 52:59and Owen paused it and was like, you know, I really fucking hate
- 53:04that whole conceit, And I was like, oh why, because it dismisses
- 53:09women's actually putting together like logical clues and indicators and information as simply being like
- 53:17us intuiting out of nowhere because we couldn't possibly be smart enough to actually use
- 53:22our minds. And he's like yeah, and then he presses play, and
- 53:29the next scene is like, somebody is saying to Poiro, well, he
- 53:34said it was women's intuition, and Puaro is like, I don't believe in
- 53:37women's intuition. She's using facts and maybe she doesn't even know what those facts
- 53:43are, but she knows something for sure, and she just doesn't have the
- 53:46language to express that. And I was like, oh shit, thank you
- 53:51very much. Like it was. It was a nice little moment of approaching
- 53:55it from a different point of view but still being like, yeah, but
- 53:58that's some bullshit. But anyway, I'm sorry. Guys, this uh the
- 54:07way that Boa is standing over Loofy. Do you like it? Please say
- 54:10yes? I brought it all for you. Oh my god, girl,
- 54:15get a hold of yourself, son. He says, all right, it's
- 54:21time we got down to business, Loofy. Earlier you said you're heading back
- 54:27to Sabayote to meet up with your crew. Do you still plan on doing
- 54:30that? And Lufy's like, well, yeah, why would I not do
- 54:34that? They need me? And really it's like, yeah, maybe they
- 54:37do. I'm not sure that's the place you want to meet up though.
- 54:42That didn't go super well for you, if you'll recall, and the moment
- 54:52here where Lufy is like thinking back to what went down, it's so weird
- 54:58because Okay, I'm gonna to back this up a little bit. Everybody has
- 55:02like this really grim expression on their face as if they're also remembering what he's
- 55:07remembering. And I was like, why boa Hancock is even looking like she's
- 55:12on the verge of tears here. But the question that really poses to him
- 55:21is, in the condition you're currently in, if you face the foes at
- 55:27Sabayote today that you face last time, do you think you would do any
- 55:32better? And that's the fucking question. Uh, he says, do you
- 55:40want to be reunited with her friends only to endure the same fate? I
- 55:45would imagine that your answer is no, So let me offer you some advice.
- 55:51Do with it what you will. And when he says this, Lufy
- 55:57like pulls the edge the brim of his hat down and we don't get that
- 56:01like answer that we don't get the second part of that statement that what the
- 56:07advice is we go back to us Up for reasons I don't understand. I
- 56:15pretty much talked about Ousup's deal more than it deserved. So I'm gonna move
- 56:22right along from that one into the next one and talk about what's going on
- 56:27with h with Nami and trying to steal this weather balloon. Also, we
- 56:35have this the the Trafalgar Law Pirates, and they have wound up, you
- 56:42know, at Maiden Island as well. They're sitting there just like trying to
- 56:46fish and chill out and wondering how Lufy is doing and Trafalgar Law. At
- 56:55one point, they hear a noise and he like looks over and it's almost
- 57:00like the guy who's fishing thinks that it's the fish that's making this sound,
- 57:05but it's the wind that's rippling this sail above their heads. And they're all
- 57:12like, wait a minute, I'm seeing this, and I'm like this,
- 57:15didn't I see this already? Yeah? I did? Hold on, this
- 57:22didn't bring me back to the next episode. Oh my god, you guys.
- 57:28I'm trying to find like where I left off, because I know that
- 57:31there was another Oh, yeah, here it is, okay, back to
- 57:35our captain. Oh, I'm describing the scene, and I'm thinking to myself,
- 57:38this feels very familiar. Why is this because I had already talked about
- 57:44it. I'm so sorry, y'all. Sometimes they this is what happens.
- 57:49They reuse footage, right with this show. They'll reuse like the animation of
- 57:53a moment repeatedly. So when something pops up and it's the same animation,
- 58:01I don't immediately jump to thinking that I've already talked about this, that this
- 58:07is the same scene that I discussed already, because sometimes it's not, and
- 58:12they just are recycling footage and it's fine. So, yeah, completely misunderstood
- 58:17that. But yeah, there's talk about like loofy and needing time to heal,
- 58:30and like the fact that going back to Sabode is probably not a good
- 58:34idea for him, but his crew doesn't know that he isn't going to be
- 58:38there, and they will probably try and head back there to meet up with
- 58:44him. I was sort of wondering if like they would maybe begin to understand
- 58:50how dangerous that was, and that he might be more likely to be like
- 58:53an outlying island somewhere but I don't even know how, you know, like
- 58:59that that would be very tricky to set up, I feel, And he
- 59:06says, I have to go see them. They're waiting for me. A
- 59:08promise is a promise, right, I have got to go to Sabaodi.
- 59:15And of course we see Hancock getting all teary eyed because he's proposing to leave
- 59:22right after he had just got here. And let's see, oh god,
- 59:31the fucking unruly guess thing with Nami. So she and this is the part
- 59:38that I was talking about. These two old men are sort of chasing after
- 59:43her and panting, and one of them says to the other, like,
- 59:50because they both collapse on the sidewalk, there's something very odz like about this
- 59:54place. Is it truly truly true that young lady tried to escape? I
- 1:00:05don't understand why they're phrasing it like she's a prisoner, And this other guy
- 1:00:15replies, I'll explain, we're too high up for that, which I'm assuming
- 1:00:22is just about like where on this weird sort of set up there located,
- 1:00:27and the fact that she isn't supposed to be able to just like jump off.
- 1:00:31We see several people attempt to stop her and her just like flying past
- 1:00:37them, and she eventually manages to like hijack one of these ships, but
- 1:00:45evidently doesn't have enough experience using one to steer it adequately, so she takes
- 1:00:54a balloon. She has her supplies in her back. She manages to like
- 1:01:01get away from the island for a moment, and then the whole thing goes
- 1:01:07nuts. The steering wheels starts to spin in her hand, and as much
- 1:01:12as she was descending a moment ago, it begins to like lift really really
- 1:01:17quickly like accelerate, so that she falls down and the whole thing is out
- 1:01:22of control. And when she is able to like look up again, she
- 1:01:28sees the ship coming straight for a bunch of dudes in these fields, And
- 1:01:34I just really was, like, there are so few women in these communities.
- 1:01:38Guys. It's all dudes all the time everywhere. It's insane, but
- 1:01:45they all have the look of like a classic Merlin Dumbledore type wizard and it
- 1:01:52is pretty enjoyable. I can't help but like it must be fun to come
- 1:01:57up with all of the different versions of this same exact outfit. And when
- 1:02:02these guys, oh, so he's talking about is she she tried to escape
- 1:02:07because of after she got locked up after taking the thing, and so that's
- 1:02:15what they're talking about here, because they're gathered around like a cell and the
- 1:02:20guy whose ears she has Hashida heat I can't remember his name, but he
- 1:02:25is trying to insist, like, oh, you know, she can be
- 1:02:29lively, but I don't feel like she would do that. Hoad us here
- 1:02:34he is, and all of these people are like just screaming at her.
- 1:02:40At one point, one of them just says, we're old and you're scary,
- 1:02:45which I did think pretty much summarized the situation actually, And she is
- 1:02:52getting super impatient because of the fact that she feels I have a perfectly valid
- 1:03:00reason to get the fuck out of here, and you guys are slowing me
- 1:03:01down. But here's the thing, not me, You don't. You could
- 1:03:08have just explained and asked for help. Why are you like this? Why
- 1:03:15do you you know what I'm saying. I just don't understand the need to
- 1:03:22be this mean all the time. So what she decides to do instead is
- 1:03:29make a tearful plea about loofy and get them all like feeling sad for her
- 1:03:37and use it as sort of a weapon so that they immediately unlock this thing.
- 1:03:44And as soon as they say we're sorry and unlock it, she jumps
- 1:03:47out, grabs Haritus, and heads for another one of these ships and evidently
- 1:03:54has taken him hostage because he's going to be able to help her steer.
- 1:04:00I guess you know as well. And it just bummed me out because they're
- 1:04:09saying she pretended to cry to take him hostage, but like she ends up
- 1:04:13genuinely crying a little bit later, and I just never like the whole a
- 1:04:17girl fakes crying to make to like get her way and trick people. It's
- 1:04:25just a little too close to like women crying wolf about a lot of other
- 1:04:29stuff, you know what I'm saying. It just always makes me like a
- 1:04:30little bit weary. But yeah, so she's like the last thing we see
- 1:04:36is her fleeing with him. I'm realizing I'm over time. We have like
- 1:04:41this really bizarre I'm gonna just like talk about this last bit here, guys,
- 1:04:46Frankie needs a ship to get back and they don't have any ships of
- 1:04:53their own, so they keep talking about this dude. H I can't remember
- 1:05:02his name, but he the one that's the inventor who is like way ahead
- 1:05:05of his time. They keep saying like, oh, Vega Punk, that's
- 1:05:10right, he probably has some designs that you could use to like piece something
- 1:05:15together. And they send him into this laboratory thing that he had been to
- 1:05:23before and it didn't go super well. So the way that episode ends,
- 1:05:30he's warned as he goes in not to pass the self press the self destruct
- 1:05:35button, and he's like, why the hell would I even want to do
- 1:05:41something like that, which is a good question. But then when he gets
- 1:05:45inside and he starts running around and finding blueprints and getting impressed with the advanced
- 1:05:51quality of Vegapunk's work, he comes across one of the these big buttons on
- 1:06:00the wall that has a skull and crossbones on it. It's scott a,
- 1:06:08you know, And he sees it and he's like, oh sweet, he's
- 1:06:13got a pirate mark too. It says danger in all caps above it,
- 1:06:18and he just pushes it and then the entire place explodes and self destructs,
- 1:06:28and it's like a big area. It's, you know, the way that
- 1:06:31they show it now, I have no doubt that it's not nearly as big
- 1:06:35as it looks, because that's the way it always goes with the show.
- 1:06:39It looks like half the earth broke apart, and then it turns out it
- 1:06:43was like a fifteen square foot area. But we have him at the end
- 1:06:51coming like talking to these guys, what if I did press that self destruct?
- 1:06:56He wouldn't like hold it against me, would you? And they just
- 1:06:59yell, of course we would. And then the narrator says, news of
- 1:07:03this incident quickly spread across the world, and history would remember it as Baldemore's
- 1:07:11nightmare. And that's the end of the episode. What that is the weirdest
- 1:07:24ending I think of any of the episodes so far. It's so abrupt and
- 1:07:28strange. Oh my god, it was so frustrating. Florine says, Okay,
- 1:07:40I love Frankie and how this all ends. This is one of the
- 1:07:43best jokes in my opinion. I wish I agreed with you, Florian It's
- 1:07:49just different. It's just my anxiety, you know, it's just they just
- 1:07:56there was only one thing that you weren't meant to do. But anyway,
- 1:08:02and Frankie and this guy, Yeah, that was very pretty funny. It
- 1:08:06was a silhouette. All right, I've got to wrap up. Thank you
- 1:08:12guys for hanging out with me. I appreciate you all a lot, and
- 1:08:15until next time to Loo motherfuckers. That was an unspoiled network podcast.
