At 101, Canada’s last surviving D-Day veteran, William “Bill” Wilson, passed away, leaving behind a legacy of courage and devotion. Born in Manitoba in 1924, he enlisted at 18, served aboard HMCS Ottawa, and stormed the beaches of Normandy on D-Day in 1944. After the war, he helped build Canada’s naval museums in Calgary, traveled to Normandy for every major anniversary, and remained active in the Royal Canadian Navy until retirement in 1979.
