- 0:39was arrested early Sunday morning following a traffic stop on
- 0:43Kentucky four twenty one that resulted in multiple criminal charges,

- 1:17the patrol vehicle. The report states that Deputy Thomas had
- 1:21already received multiple calls regarding the vehicle prior to making contact.
- 1:28After activating emergency equipment, Deputy Thomas followed the vehicle into
- 1:34the parking lot of Ray's game room, where Hopkins allegedly
- 1:38exited the driver's seat and jumped into the backseat of
- 1:42the vehicle in an apparent attempt to claim he was
- 1:45not driving. During the investigation, the deputy reportedly observed a
- 1:51pint liquor bottle on the driver's side floorboard, along with
- 1:57two beer cans inside the vehicle. Hopkins admitted to drinking alcohol,
- 2:02but denied using drugs. No illegal drugs were located during
- 2:07a search of the vehicle. Two passengers were reportedly inside
- 2:11the vehicle at the time of the incident. Hopkins requested
- 2:15a blood test to prove he was not under the
- 2:18influence of methanthetamine. He was transported to advent Health Manchester,
- 2:23where a blood draw was conducted. After he was read
- 2:26and agreed to Kentucky's implied consent law. Due to the

- 3:23Detention Center, where he was lodged on the listed charges.
- 3:28The next trump page headline is final chapter closes in
- 3:32twelve Woods murder. Kathy Stuart sentenced in murder of Earl Woods.
- 3:38It's a staff report with the sentencing of Kathy Stuart
- 3:42on Monday, January five in Clay Circuit Court. The final
- 3:46chapter has closed in one of Clay County's longest running
- 3:50and most disturbing murder cases, the brutal killing of Earl Woods.
- 3:56Stuart's sentence brings an end to a case that has
- 4:00lingered in the courts for more than thirteen years following
- 4:03the December six, twenty twelve slaying of the seventy four
- 4:07year old Woods. Inside his bellsfo comb. Under a plea
- 4:12agreement accepted by the court, Stuart was sentenced to a
- 4:17total of twenty five years in prison, with all charges
- 4:21ordered to run concurrently. Her convictions include conspiracy to commit murder, robbery,
- 4:28theft of a firearm, possession of a firearm by a
- 4:32convicted felon, and a persistent felony offender enhancement. Stuart's sentencing
- 4:40follows last week's guilty plea and sentencing of codependent Joshua Morsh,
- 4:45forty seven, of Manchester, who received life in prison without
- 4:50the possibility of parole for twenty five years. Under the
- 4:54negotiated plea, Morsh was sentenced on the following counts. Murder
- 5:00life without parole for twenty five years, Robbery first degree
- 5:04twenty years enhanced to thirty years, Count three five years
- 5:10enhanced to ten years. Persistent felony offender's second degree enhancement applied.
- 5:18Counts one through three will run concurrently but consecutively to
- 5:21the persistent felony offender enhancement, resorting in marsh serving twenty
- 5:27five years before parole eligibility as part of the life sentence.
- 5:33The Woods case has remained active since the week of
- 5:35the murder, and was plagued by years of delays, including
- 5:40a previous conviction that was overturned by the Kentucky Supreme Court,
- 5:44forcing prosecutors to once again pursue justice for the victim
- 5:48and his family. Court testimony throughout the case revealed a
- 5:53harrowing picture of addiction fueled desperation. Defense attorneys argued that
- 5:59both defense were struggling with severe drug dependency and targeted
- 6:04Woods because they knew when he received prescription medication. Testimony
- 6:11indicated Stuart allegedly pressured Morsh into committing the robbery, placing
- 6:16a hammer in his hand and telling him quote, if
- 6:20you don't get me those pills, I don't see us
- 6:22having much of a relationship close quotes. Testimony also showed
- 6:27that Stuart acted as a lookout for marsh as he
- 6:31committed the murder. Commonwealth's Attorney Hailey Joe Fields said resolving
- 6:37the Woods case was an immediate priority upon taking office.
- 6:42Quote this case has been ongoing for the last thirteen years,
- 6:46but today justice was served for Earl and the family
- 6:49he left behind. Fields said, quote. When I came into
- 6:54office on January one, twenty twenty five, my staff and
- 6:58I immediately made this case a priority because thirteen years
- 7:02is way too long. Close quotes. Next, there is a
- 7:06photograph on the front page bearing the headline new Year's
- 7:10Day crash with this explanation. In an unreal scene on
- 7:15Kentucky eleven on New Year's Day, these two drivers escaped
- 7:20serious injury in a head on collision. The driver of
- 7:23the white truck told police he fell asleep at the wheel.
- 7:27Chief Deputy Clifton Jones interviews the Boonville man driving the
- 7:32white truck. Quote when I saw these vehicles, I thought
- 7:36possible fatality, the Chief Deputy said, quote, it was a miracle.
- 7:41They both walked away from this. The next front page
- 7:45headline as woman wishes newspaper burns Laurel woman upset with
- 7:50Enterprise articles covering London City Council, a staff report. In
- 7:55an unprecedented and disturbing incident tied to public reaction a
- 7:59way local government coverage, a London resident publicly expressed a
- 8:04wish that the office of the Manchester Enterprise was on fire.
- 8:09The comment was made by Bonnie White of London on
- 8:12the newspaper's Facebook page during a live social media post
- 8:17covering a fire in Manchester. In her comment, White stated quote,
- 8:23I was hoping it was the newspaper itself, since they
- 8:26back Weddell and Josh Morgan close quotes. The remark came
- 8:31amid heightened online criticism following the newspaper's reporting on a
- 8:36lawsuit filed by eighty six City of London employees against
- 8:41the London City Council. According to the newspaper, this was
- 8:46not an isolated incident. Editors confirmed that White has previously
- 8:51posted harsh and inflammatory comments on social media, including remarks
- 8:57critical of first responders and London. Publisher Mark Hoskins said
- 9:03public disagreement with news coverage is not unusual, but the
- 9:07nature of this comment crossed the line. Quote people get
- 9:11upset with stories from time to time. That's part of
- 9:15the job, Hopkins said Wednesday afternoon. Quote, but we've never
- 9:20had someone publicly say they hoped our office would burn
- 9:24down close quotes. Hoskins said that following the comment, the
- 9:28newspaper received an influx of messages and screenshots highlighting additional
- 9:34posts made by the same individual targeting various entities and
- 9:39individuals in London. When asked whether he viewed the comment
- 9:43as a threat, Hoskins said the situation was troubling but
- 9:47difficult to categorize. Quote it's an incredibly disturbing thing to say,
- 9:52he said. Quote I've never spoken with this woman, and
- 9:56I'm not sure what specifically prompted her anger. Comments like
- 10:00that go far beyond criticism of journalism close quotes. Hoskins
- 10:06emphasized that while the Manchester Enterprise supports open dialogue and accountability,
- 10:13rhetoric involving violence or harm has no place in public discourse.
- 10:18Quote disagree with us, challenge us, debate the issues. That's healthy,
- 10:23he said, quote, but wishing harm on people or property
- 10:27is something entirely different. The newspaper reported that the comment
- 10:31was documented and addressed in accordance with its social media policies.
