- 0:00Speaker 1: Florida and Ole Miss in the swamp. Florida coming off
- 0:05Speaker 1: a big win at Auburn. Ole Miss coming off a
- 0:07Speaker 1: huge win against Lane. I think there's opportunity for both
- 0:11Speaker 1: of these teams to have a little bit of an
- 0:12Speaker 1: emotional letdown after huge wins last week. I think that
- 0:16Speaker 1: possibility exists much more for Ole Miss than it does
- 0:20Speaker 1: for Florida. But I do think it exists on both sides.
- 0:22Speaker 1: You can see how much that win really meant to
- 0:23Speaker 1: the program, how much it meant to John Summerall, how
- 0:25Speaker 1: much it meant to Aaron Filo, who I thought played really,
- 0:27Speaker 1: really well in that game. Obviously, Jaden Ball is a freak.
- 0:31Speaker 1: And then Trinidad Chambliss may be the best player in
- 0:32Speaker 1: college football right now. So it is just as good
- 0:36Speaker 1: as that Tennessee-Texas matchup is. This one's really good, too.
- 0:39Speaker 1: Florida's not the 21st best team in the country. I
- 0:41Speaker 1: think they've proven that they're better than that through their
- 0:44Speaker 1: first three games. I don't think Ole Miss is the
- 0:47Speaker 1: fourth best team. Resume-wise, they should probably be one or two.
- 0:49Speaker 1: So this is a great matchup, too, just like we've
- 0:52Speaker 1: got in the noon game. The 3.30 one's really good.
- 0:55Speaker 1: This is presented by PrizePix.com. What's your big picture thought
- 0:58Speaker 1: here for Florida Ole Miss?
- 1:01Speaker 2: This line really threw me for a loop when it
- 1:05Speaker 2: came out on Sunday. I mean, I just was like,
- 1:08Speaker 2: I wasn't expecting Florida to be an eight-point dog at home.
- 1:13Speaker 2: I wasn't expecting them to be a big underdog or
- 1:16Speaker 2: anything like that, but I was certainly not expecting them
- 1:19Speaker 2: to be favored by over.
- 1:20Speaker 3: A field goal at this point. That thing's sitting at
- 1:22Speaker 3: three and a half right now.
- 1:24Speaker 2: And Hey, I've been on record all offseason as thinking Summerall,
- 1:29Speaker 2: good hire, especially because he went and got Buster Faulkner,
- 1:32Speaker 2: and I'm a big believer in Buster Faulkner. I think
- 1:36Speaker 2: letting him handpick his quarterback in Aaron Filo was a
- 1:39Speaker 2: good decision. I'm all for it. I'm on board with it.
- 1:44Speaker 2: But I am very curious, especially after Auburn was able
- 1:50Speaker 2: to have a lot of offensive success against Florida when
- 1:55Speaker 2: when Baylor was able to really kind of stymie Auburn
- 1:59Speaker 2: a good bit in that game, how Florida is favored
- 2:03Speaker 2: by over a field goal in this game with what
- 2:06Speaker 2: we know about Trinidad Chambliss and his ability to just.
- 2:11Speaker 3: Make things happen offensively.
- 2:14Speaker 1: I wonder a little bit about each team's ability to
- 2:20Speaker 1: exploit what the other one struggles with. I just got
- 2:23Speaker 1: off a show and talked about this a little bit,
- 2:24Speaker 1: so I want to get your take. I won't rehearse
- 2:26Speaker 1: my whole take again, but Ole Miss gives up a
- 2:30Speaker 1: lot of broken tackles, and having Jaden Ball in the
- 2:33Speaker 1: backfield on the other side should scare the crap out
- 2:35Speaker 1: of them. I think Florida can be exploited in certain
- 2:37Speaker 1: places defensively if pressure doesn't get home, and having Trinidad
- 2:41Speaker 1: on the other side should scare the crap out of them.
- 2:44Speaker 1: So it's good on good, I think, or good on
- 2:46Speaker 1: maybe potential weaknesses is maybe the better way to say it.
- 2:49Speaker 1: Both these offenses, I mean, I like the over here, too,
- 2:51Speaker 1: just for what it's worth. Now Vegas knows that, and
- 2:54Speaker 1: they've jacked it way up. But both of these offenses
- 2:58Speaker 1: could have absolute field days. Florida's offense really did a
- 3:02Speaker 1: good job against Auburn for large portions of that game.
- 3:06Speaker 1: Florida's defense, I'm sorry, did a good job against Auburn's offense.
- 3:09Speaker 1: I think Ole Miss' defense did a good job against
- 3:12Speaker 1: LSU's for large portions of the game. Whichever defense shows up,
- 3:16Speaker 1: because I have no doubts that Jaden Ball is going
- 3:17Speaker 1: to do his thing. I have no doubts that Vernell
- 3:19Speaker 1: Brown and really even Aaron Filo and this offense are
- 3:22Speaker 1: going to do their thing. And then the same thing
- 3:23Speaker 1: on Ole Miss' side. They might be one-dimensional if Lacey
- 3:27Speaker 1: doesn't play, but that's a pretty good dimension to have
- 3:29Speaker 1: is Trinidad calling the shots. Whichever defense can get a
- 3:33Speaker 1: few more stops, a stop or two more, is probably
- 3:37Speaker 1: the one that I would ride with in this game.
- 3:40Speaker 1: I think that's an interesting dynamic is just two powerhouse-type
- 3:43Speaker 1: offenses that are going to be really fun. The Golding
- 3:46Speaker 1: versus Faulkner matchup is a lot of fun. This game
- 3:50Speaker 1: has so much in it that I'm going to be
- 3:53Speaker 1: sprinting out of Neyland Stadium to try and get to
- 3:55Speaker 1: the iPad and watch this while I sit in traffic
- 3:57Speaker 1: in Knoxville.
- 4:00Speaker 3: No, for sure. I look at the Ole.
- 4:08Speaker 2: Miss offense versus Florida's defense and I mean, Florida's defense,
- 4:12Speaker 2: like if you look at some of the radar charts
- 4:15Speaker 2: and just they're ugly, right? Like they do not cover
- 4:20Speaker 2: a big spread on the radar chart. They really struggle
- 4:24Speaker 2: with that. Like they give up a lot of short
- 4:26Speaker 2: third down distances. They give up a really high success
- 4:30Speaker 2: rate on third downs.
- 4:32Speaker 3: I mean, they're.
- 4:33Speaker 2: Allowing 58.1% third and fourth down success rate.
- 4:36Speaker 3: That's 125th nationally, 5.8 yards. is the average third down
- 4:42Speaker 3: distance against them. That's 122nd. Their EPA per rush allowed
- 4:46Speaker 3: is 126th.
- 4:47Speaker 2: I mean, like they have really not been good. And
- 4:52Speaker 2: the Florida offense is the exact opposite of that. But
- 4:55Speaker 2: when you talk about that matchup, like whose defense has
- 4:59Speaker 2: a better shot of getting stops, I really feel like
- 5:02Speaker 2: the answer is the Ole Miss defense against the Florida offense.
- 5:05Speaker 2: Like I really think what we saw from Will Echols
- 5:08Speaker 2: against LSU on Saturday night, Like Ole Miss has some
- 5:13Speaker 2: guys in their back end. Like Joan El Aguero was
- 5:17Speaker 2: a five-star recruit.
- 5:18Speaker 3: He's a tweener.
- 5:19Speaker 2: Didn't quite work out at Georgia. Like not quite a safety,
- 5:24Speaker 2: not quite a linebacker type player. But he's the type
- 5:27Speaker 2: of guy that can close some space out and like
- 5:30Speaker 2: had a pick against Tennessee last year in Knoxville that
- 5:33Speaker 2: was big on a deep ball. Like there's players like
- 5:36Speaker 2: that on this Ole Miss defense that I know about
- 5:38Speaker 2: at this point on defense. on all three levels, I'm
- 5:42Speaker 2: not sure who those guys are yet on the Florida defense.
- 5:46Speaker 3: Doesn't mean they're not there, but I don't know who
- 5:49Speaker 3: they are yet.
- 5:50Speaker 2: And that kind of inclines me to, to again, come
- 5:53Speaker 2: back to being very confused about this number.
- 5:56Speaker 1: Yeah. Are, is there a way for either you talk
- 6:01Speaker 1: about Ole Miss, you know, struggling with broken tackles and
- 6:03Speaker 1: talk about where Florida is at defensively too. Is there
- 6:06Speaker 1: any way to slow down a Jaden Baugh or a
- 6:08Speaker 1: Trinidad Chambliss for either team? Or is it like you
- 6:11Speaker 1: may just let them live with what they do and
- 6:12Speaker 1: try and shut down everybody else type of thing? Or
- 6:15Speaker 1: what is the, what is the method of attack there?
- 6:18Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 6:18Speaker 2: I mean, I, you're not going to like, I don't
- 6:21Speaker 2: think Ole Miss is going to slow Jaden Baugh in
- 6:26Speaker 2: the sense of shutting him down because he's, he's too
- 6:29Speaker 2: good for that. But I do think there's, there's logic
- 6:33Speaker 2: in if you're, Florida saying, okay, I'm going to make
- 6:40Speaker 2: Trinidad beat me, right? Like I'm not going to live
- 6:44Speaker 2: sort of in no man's land.
- 6:46Speaker 1: I'll get right back to chatting with Graham, but first
- 6:47Speaker 1: I want to tell you about our friends over at PrizePix.
- 6:49Speaker 1: All new users who play a $ 5 lineup there and
- 6:51Speaker 1: win get $ 150 in lineups instantly if they use code HMA.
- 6:56Speaker 1: I am taking the more on Jaden Ball's rushing touchdowns,
- 6:59Speaker 1: and I'm taking the more on Trinidad Chambliss' passing touchdowns.
- 7:02Speaker 1: They're both 1.5. I feel really good about Trinidad. I
- 7:05Speaker 1: know it'll be work for Jaden to get two on
- 7:07Speaker 1: the ground, but I think he gets it done. Go
- 7:09Speaker 1: set a lineup just like that. Appreciate our friends over
- 7:12Speaker 1: at PrizePix. Again, use the code HMA. Now back to
- 7:15Speaker 1: the clip.
- 7:17Speaker 2: On the other side of the ball, I think there's
- 7:19Speaker 2: logic in saying I want to make Aaron Filo beat me.
- 7:23Speaker 2: I'm not going to try and load up and put
- 7:26Speaker 2: Aitman in the box all day against Jaden Baugh and
- 7:30Speaker 2: let Aaron Philo get man coverage all over the place
- 7:34Speaker 2: with this set of receivers.
- 7:36Speaker 3: Like that's not the recipe.
- 7:37Speaker 2: If you're Ole Miss in my opinion, I think you've,
- 7:39Speaker 2: you've got to vary your, your defensive looks and, and
- 7:43Speaker 2: you've got to be flexible to what's happening in front
- 7:45Speaker 2: of you and, and adjust in real time, truthfully of, of,
- 7:49Speaker 2: of sort of, you know, admitting maybe, Hey, like this
- 7:51Speaker 2: is the hot guy and, and we need to shade
- 7:54Speaker 2: things this way. But I, I think you can really
- 7:58Speaker 2: get yourself in trouble with, sometimes when you try to
- 8:02Speaker 2: treat everyone like an equal threat on an offense and
- 8:06Speaker 2: you end up just kind of running out of ways.
- 8:10Speaker 3: To spread your men around.
- 8:11Speaker 2: I don't know that either of these teams is going
- 8:14Speaker 2: to be able to, like, take one thing away from
- 8:19Speaker 2: the other.
- 8:19Speaker 3: I think at the end of the day, the question
- 8:22Speaker 3: is more just functionally, how do I get stops, right?
- 8:26Speaker 2: And whatever that scouting is, maybe it's, hey, like, Philo Philo's.
- 8:32Speaker 3: Numbers drop when he's in the red zone.
- 8:34Speaker 2: And I'm not, that's just an example, but like that,
- 8:37Speaker 2: that needs to be the, the, the thought train, I
- 8:40Speaker 2: think from these defensive staffs is situationally, where do I
- 8:44Speaker 2: have an advantage?
- 8:45Speaker 3: And once I get into that situation, how do I
- 8:48Speaker 3: maximize that advantage? Cause you don't have an advantage in
- 8:52Speaker 3: open grass between the twenties. You just don't.
- 8:54Speaker 2: And, and you need to find ways. I think field
- 8:56Speaker 2: goals versus touchdowns is going to be a huge, plot
- 9:00Speaker 2: in this game.
- 9:03Speaker 1: Advantage coaching wise. When you look at Golding and Faulkner,
- 9:08Speaker 1: that's a, that's a fun one. We got Golding and
- 9:10Speaker 1: Weiss last week. This is another fun one. It's very different,
- 9:14Speaker 1: but it's fun.
- 9:15Speaker 2: I think that there's an advantage when it comes to
- 9:18Speaker 2: Pete Golding as a head coach versus John Summerall as
- 9:21Speaker 2: a head coach in, in terms of experience, in terms of.
- 9:26Speaker 3: Playing in big games.
- 9:28Speaker 2: But I, I, would give Buster Faulkner advantage over P
- 9:32Speaker 2: Golding when it comes to offensive.
- 9:34Speaker 3: Scheme versus defensive scheme. Yeah, for sure. Yeah.
- 9:39Speaker 2: I mean, but, and Buster, you know, I mean, Buster
- 9:42Speaker 2: has been around this league, right? Like, like he was
- 9:45Speaker 2: at Georgia when, when Golding was at Alabama, like he
- 9:48Speaker 2: was at Georgia with Todd Malkin. He's seen a lot, right.
- 9:55Speaker 2: He's seen a lot in the sec and really adjacent.
- 9:58Speaker 2: I know he was at Georgia Tech, but he was
- 10:02Speaker 2: an hour down the road from Athens and sort of
- 10:04Speaker 2: in the heart of the SEC while being at Georgia Tech.
- 10:08Speaker 2: And I think he's very well connected to this league
- 10:11Speaker 2: and knows the ins and outs of it.
- 10:16Speaker 1: The spread did surprise me. I think it opened up
- 10:20Speaker 1: closer to a point and a half and then has
- 10:21Speaker 1: moved because of the Lacey uncertainty, the best I can tell.
- 10:26Speaker 1: So three and a half now. I think this game
- 10:30Speaker 1: truly could go either way. I like the points when
- 10:36Speaker 1: you've got Trinidad Chambliss. I think this is an incredibly
- 10:38Speaker 1: close game. I love that hook. And if Vegas is
- 10:40Speaker 1: setting a trap for me, then I am jumping into
- 10:43Speaker 1: it headfirst. I love the value in getting Trinidad Chambliss
- 10:47Speaker 1: plus money. against a team that, yes, just beat Auburn,
- 10:51Speaker 1: and I'm really high on Florida. I think they're a
- 10:52Speaker 1: top 15-ish team in this country as far as resume-wise,
- 10:56Speaker 1: like what they've shown so far. I think they're ranked
- 10:58Speaker 1: too low right now in the AP poll. So I
- 11:00Speaker 1: am high on Florida. I really like Trinidad Chambliss with
- 11:05Speaker 1: plus money. I also really think they've got the best
- 11:09Speaker 1: two wins in the country. I don't even know how
- 11:11Speaker 1: you would debate that. Beating Louisville, who knocked off SMU
- 11:14Speaker 1: last week, we talked about that game. and then beating
- 11:16Speaker 1: LSU the way that they did. I think they go
- 11:18Speaker 1: get another ranked win this weekend. I think there's good
- 11:21Speaker 1: value in the plus money on the money line and
- 11:24Speaker 1: to take the three and a half points. So I'll
- 11:26Speaker 1: probably take both to cover myself if they don't get
- 11:29Speaker 1: the win. But I think this is an incredibly close game.
- 11:31Speaker 1: Would not surprise me at all if Florida won. But
- 11:35Speaker 1: I'm going to take Ole Miss here. Ole Miss has
- 11:37Speaker 1: kind of shown that they can be one-dimensional if needed.
- 11:40Speaker 1: Lacey goes out and Trinidad just puts him on his back. Now,
- 11:42Speaker 1: I don't think that works for 12 weeks. But I
- 11:44Speaker 1: think he can work one more time. The Swamp is
- 11:46Speaker 1: an insane place to play. And it changes games just
- 11:50Speaker 1: like Neyland does. We talked about that. We saw what
- 11:53Speaker 1: happened with Texas. We saw what happened with a really
- 11:55Speaker 1: good Ole Miss team that came in here in 2016.
- 11:57Speaker 1: We saw what happened with Auburn in 2019 when they
- 12:00Speaker 1: were top five. This happens often. But all that said,
- 12:03Speaker 1: I'm going to ride with Ole Miss here.
- 12:06Speaker 3: See, what I read out of this spread, I.
- 12:11Speaker 2: Do think that Vegas is telling you that they like
- 12:17Speaker 2: Florida more than some people may have expected coming into
- 12:20Speaker 2: the season.
- 12:21Speaker 3: But I also think.
- 12:22Speaker 2: That they're telling you they didn't really buy the hype
- 12:27Speaker 2: on LSU, didn't really buy the hype on Ole Miss
- 12:32Speaker 2: after that win. I think they're telling you that they
- 12:35Speaker 2: think Ole Miss is a really good team, but maybe
- 12:37Speaker 2: not an elite team on the national title tiers. And
- 12:45Speaker 2: logically that makes sense to me just in terms of
- 12:48Speaker 2: how their roster is.
- 12:49Speaker 3: Constructed and all of those things.
- 12:52Speaker 2: I don't know that I ever drank the Kool-Aid on LSU,
- 12:57Speaker 2: even after they beat Clemson.
- 12:59Speaker 1: But.
- 13:01Speaker 3: I do struggle.
- 13:05Speaker 2: Like you're telling me we're already here with Aaron Philo
- 13:08Speaker 2: after just a couple starts. Like we're already in the
- 13:13Speaker 2: spot of, of Aaron Philo against Trinidad Chambliss and Philo is,
- 13:19Speaker 2: is the guy, right? Like he's, he's the favorite in
- 13:21Speaker 2: that matchup.
- 13:23Speaker 3: I struggle with it.
- 13:23Speaker 2: I think Florida is more complete. Like offensively, Florida is
- 13:26Speaker 2: more complete with Jaden ball. I'm just not picking against like, I,
- 13:30Speaker 2: I made a personal vow against Trinidad Chambliss in any
- 13:38Speaker 2: situation that, especially one that I think could be like
- 13:41Speaker 2: a close game late in the fourth quarter until he
- 13:44Speaker 2: gives me.
- 13:45Speaker 3: A reason to, to readdress that.
- 13:48Speaker 2: And so on general principle, I am taking that three
- 13:53Speaker 2: and a half from Ole Miss and I'm, I'm rushing
- 13:56Speaker 2: to the bank with it and I'm going to take
- 13:57Speaker 2: Ole Miss outright to win this game.
- 13:59Speaker 3: But I do think.
- 14:01Speaker 2: There's a world where we, we wake up on Sunday
- 14:05Speaker 2: and like, we're talking about Florida a little bit differently.
- 14:09Speaker 3: Cause I, I, I do think.
- 14:10Speaker 2: The emotional hangover from that LSU game could be very real.
- 14:15Speaker 2: I also think, though, that Pete Golding has an advantage
- 14:20Speaker 2: in that he was around Ole Miss in 2024 when
- 14:22Speaker 2: they won the big game against Georgia and then went
- 14:25Speaker 2: to Florida and flushed their playoff hopes.
- 14:28Speaker 3: And I think that he can use that maybe to
- 14:30Speaker 3: his favor.
- 14:31Speaker 2: I know Trinidad wasn't there, but there's guys that are
- 14:34Speaker 2: left over from that roster and that can kind of
- 14:36Speaker 2: help him refocus his team.
- 14:39Speaker 3: So I think Ole Miss, but close, close.
- 14:43Speaker 1: Yeah, I think that's a good point. And then also
- 14:45Speaker 1: last year, with all the distraction and all the emotion
- 14:47Speaker 1: that went into last year, I don't think they lost
- 14:51Speaker 1: to Miami after beating Georgia because of an emotional hangover.
- 14:53Speaker 1: I think Miami was just a little bit better. They
- 14:56Speaker 1: did a good job navigating the lane situation. We talked
- 15:00Speaker 1: about this last week. I don't so much buy into
- 15:02Speaker 1: the whole, oh, off-field stuff that's going on. Emotional hangovers
- 15:06Speaker 1: are very real. But Ole Miss has kind of shown
- 15:08Speaker 1: you over the last few years they do a good
- 15:09Speaker 1: job of navigating that. I'm right there with you, though.
- 15:11Speaker 1: Florida wins this game, and I think there's a great
- 15:13Speaker 1: chance they're 6-0 to start this season. They play Missouri next,
- 15:16Speaker 1: and I think they play South Carolina after that. I
- 15:18Speaker 1: actually think they're going to win both those games no
- 15:20Speaker 1: matter what happens here tonight. Or not tonight, but this weekend.
- 15:24Speaker 1: So I'm taking Ole Miss, just kind of the same
- 15:27Speaker 1: reason as you, Trinidad believer. But it won't shock me
- 15:30Speaker 1: at all if Florida is able to win this game.
- 15:33Speaker 1: So it'll be a fun one.
