- 0:21Speaker 1: Coming up on NHL Unscripted, Nate Thompson is back, Lavvy
- 0:25Speaker 1: is in La Cinefound sixty, getting bumped for an epic
- 0:28Speaker 1: NBA Finals game as the Knicks win a rousing game.

- 0:34Speaker 1: and why it worked out for his goaltender and for
- 0:37Speaker 1: his team. NHL Unscripted Finals Time, Mondays and Thursdays from
- 0:40Speaker 1: the Stanley Cup Final. But I have to leave with
- 0:42Speaker 1: the fact Jason demerged to celebrity his birthday thirty eight
- 0:45Speaker 1: and looking great. What's it like celebrning your birth in
- 0:47Speaker 1: the midst of the Stanley Cup Final and covering this
- 0:49Speaker 1: Cup final in Vegas?
- 0:52Speaker 2: It kind of sucks.
- 0:56Speaker 3: Jillian was there, She went to the game. Yeah, yeah,
- 0:58Speaker 3: my wife came and it was fun.
- 0:59Speaker 2: We had dinner.
- 1:00Speaker 3: We ended up going to carballing after the game, awesome
- 1:04Speaker 3: shut down Carbone with a couple of friends. Well, it
- 1:08Speaker 3: was so funny because you know, everybody's flying out the
- 1:10Speaker 3: next day to go to Carolina, so everybody's like, oh,
- 1:12Speaker 3: happy birthday. It's great, and they're all finding out like six,
- 1:16Speaker 3: so you know, you end up getting a reserve. I
- 1:18Speaker 3: was like, I'll just get a reservation, you know whatever.
- 1:21Speaker 3: So there was me and my wife and Schneid's is
- 1:24Speaker 3: like such a trooper, Cory Schneider, so.
- 1:26Speaker 2: He's like, oh, yeah, it comes well. He thought, you know,
- 1:29Speaker 2: I asked.
- 1:29Speaker 3: Patty Maroon to make the the reservation because he's kind
- 1:32Speaker 3: of plugged in Vegas and he's like, I'm not coming,
- 1:35Speaker 3: and I was like, well, I'm like yeah. I'm like
- 1:37Speaker 3: I'm like yeah, it's all good. I'm like, you guys
- 1:39Speaker 3: gonna get to like five. So Schneid's like finishes the show.
- 1:43Speaker 3: He only had a couple hits of NHL Tonight's. It
- 1:46Speaker 3: comes out and comes out and he sits.
- 1:49Speaker 2: Down at dinner.
- 1:50Speaker 3: Then everybody else was like that was showing up, that
- 1:52Speaker 3: maybe he was going to show up. It was going
- 1:53Speaker 3: to show up later because they're doing some other stuff.
- 1:55Speaker 3: So he sits down and he's like, I don't know.
- 1:56Speaker 3: It was coming to Carbone for like a romantic dinner
- 2:00Speaker 3: with your wife because they gave us like kind of
- 2:03Speaker 3: like a it was like we had a reservation for
- 2:05Speaker 3: like six, so it's like a big booth.
- 2:07Speaker 2: Yeah, it's like this is kind of weird.
- 2:10Speaker 3: I'm like, don't don't worry about it, Like, don't worry
- 2:12Speaker 3: about like, you know, my wife comes all these things,
- 2:14Speaker 3: and it's like he's a yain. I'm like, you're my
- 2:17Speaker 3: only friend right now.
- 2:21Speaker 1: Graduate over just looking around for anybody else coming, Like
- 2:25Speaker 1: I think it's just gonna be it.
- 2:25Speaker 3: I'm like, okay, I mean, like, well, you know it's
- 2:29Speaker 3: and and I'm like, yeah, they're gonna be coming.
- 2:31Speaker 2: They're gonna be coming. Don't worry about it. You'll show
- 2:34Speaker 2: on an hour too.
- 2:35Speaker 3: Well, it should have been an hour and a half
- 2:39Speaker 3: into It was just me and Schneid's just eating breadsticks
- 2:42Speaker 3: and spicy rereggaetoni.
- 2:44Speaker 2: I mean, the food is amazing.
- 2:45Speaker 3: But I always, i mean, my whole, my whole playing
- 2:48Speaker 3: career was always my My birthday fell in the finals,
- 2:52Speaker 3: so it's always interesting when I played. And even now
- 2:56Speaker 3: it's like it's it's just it's the time. I'm a
- 2:58Speaker 3: June baby. So so yeah, Gemini's unite. But yeah, anyway,
- 3:03Speaker 3: especially the spy see we're good to everyone.
- 3:06Speaker 4: It's as I've ever had a.
- 3:09Speaker 2: Sood it was so good.
- 3:11Speaker 3: And then I mean they have the best bread basket
- 3:14Speaker 3: in the world. It's an elite bread basket.
- 3:18Speaker 4: Much better than all of garden bread sticks and me a.
- 3:21Speaker 2: Easy now.
- 3:23Speaker 3: Og might have the best bread six. It's the best
- 3:28Speaker 3: deal of all time.
- 3:29Speaker 5: Is a combo all right?
- 3:32Speaker 4: Another all time.
- 3:32Speaker 1: In the Stanley Cap Finals, Hurricanes and Golden Knights, officially
- 3:35Speaker 1: a best of three, Caroline goes up to nothing early
- 3:37Speaker 1: before Vegas clause back to tie the game. Late in
- 3:39Speaker 1: the second Jordan Stall scores the eventual winner, his second
- 3:42Speaker 1: of the game and fifth of the series. He's been
- 3:45Speaker 1: unbelievable in the finals date I think that's where we start.
- 3:47Speaker 1: Jordan Stall a conce my favorite. If Carolina wins, think
- 3:50Speaker 1: about that.
- 3:52Speaker 6: He's been incredible and I mean just an absolute force
- 3:56Speaker 6: out there and like it's it's crazy to think, and
- 4:00Speaker 6: I thought about this before the playoffs, Like he's got
- 4:02Speaker 6: twenty goals this season. I mean, just the perfect third
- 4:05Speaker 6: line center, kind of a Rod Brindemore two point zero
- 4:08Speaker 6: if you will, and just doing it at all ends
- 4:10Speaker 6: of ice. I mean, like his face off, he's over
- 4:12Speaker 6: sixty percent. I mean, it's it's it seems like we
- 4:16Speaker 6: see kind of the same broken record he goes out there,
- 4:18Speaker 6: he wins a face off, he goes in the net,
- 4:20Speaker 6: they shoot the puckey tips it, he's there. He scores
- 4:22Speaker 6: big goals in front of the net. I mean, he's
- 4:24Speaker 6: just an emotional leader for this team. JD and man,
- 4:27Speaker 6: it's been so fun to watch because I don't think
- 4:30Speaker 6: anyone expected Jordan Stall to be the most valuable player
- 4:34Speaker 6: for the Carolina Hurricanes right now, which I think he
- 4:36Speaker 6: is because he does so many other things that are
- 4:41Speaker 6: you know, huge for the Carolina Hurricanes, whether it's little
- 4:43Speaker 6: things defensively or whatever it is.
- 4:45Speaker 5: So it's been impressive to watch.
- 4:48Speaker 3: I mean, the guy, the guy has played against, I mean,
- 4:53Speaker 3: the guy played against Rod Brednamore pretty much.
- 4:55Speaker 2: I mean he's been in the league forever.
- 4:56Speaker 3: When you think about it, how long Jordan Stall has
- 4:58Speaker 3: been around and how effective he's been in you know,
- 5:02Speaker 3: he's such a unicorn that you know, can can do
- 5:06Speaker 3: a little bit of everything, like you said, and I
- 5:09Speaker 3: mean for the power play, he stays.
- 5:12Speaker 2: The whole thing is if he wins.
- 5:13Speaker 3: The face off in the power play, he stays until
- 5:15Speaker 3: it's cleared out, and he scored what two goals in
- 5:18Speaker 3: the series that way of just get it to the
- 5:21Speaker 3: net and he I mean, I can't imagine you look
- 5:26Speaker 3: at the storylines of the con Smite, this might be
- 5:29Speaker 3: one of the closest contested con Smites ever because you
- 5:32Speaker 3: have a case for four or five guys you really do.
- 5:35Speaker 3: You got Brett Howden, you got Mitch Marner, you got
- 5:39Speaker 3: Jordan stall you got Taylor Hall and Logan stankovin probably
- 5:42Speaker 3: my five and any one of these guys have been
- 5:46Speaker 3: absolutely incredible in these playoffs. Like like Stallsey, no one's
- 5:50Speaker 3: done what he's done in the Stanley Cup Finals at
- 5:53Speaker 3: his age a captain, four straight games of the goal
- 5:58Speaker 3: five total in the series like that, That is that
- 6:01Speaker 3: is wildly effective for a guy that you know might
- 6:05Speaker 3: be retiring at.
- 6:05Speaker 2: The end of the season.
- 6:06Speaker 3: So it just goes to show you that that big
- 6:09Speaker 3: body you get to the net and and play that
- 6:12Speaker 3: kind of simple style and yet it's so effective in
- 6:15Speaker 3: today's NHL. And he's such a throwback to like days past.
- 6:20Speaker 3: But you know, it's it's it's wild to see guys
- 6:24Speaker 3: that age that are able to adapt and are still
- 6:26Speaker 3: so very good. And you know, and I think a
- 6:29Speaker 3: lot of it goes with how well he takes care
- 6:31Speaker 3: of himself and how healthy he is, and you know
- 6:34Speaker 3: his size is allows him to not really get hurt
- 6:38Speaker 3: and be so durable. So but man, both goals in
- 6:41Speaker 3: front of the net. That second one was amazing, That
- 6:44Speaker 3: little fadaway chip shot like on the empty net, falling down,
- 6:48Speaker 3: falling down, fatal. He looked like Bobby or there for
- 6:52Speaker 3: a second. But he's been He's been their best forward,
- 6:55Speaker 3: you know, in terms of effectiveness and the things he's
- 6:58Speaker 3: asked to do, because I mean, he plays in all
- 7:01Speaker 3: all situations and is so very effective.
- 7:04Speaker 1: Seventeen wins being Cup wins for Stall. If they win,
- 7:06Speaker 1: that would be a record for a player. To your
- 7:08Speaker 1: point about duration, just keeping yourself in great shape and
- 7:10Speaker 1: still being an effective player. JD and I for those
- 7:13Speaker 1: who listen the last in the scripted, both said that
- 7:14Speaker 1: we would go with Bussy the rest of the way.
- 7:16Speaker 4: Rod Brendan agreed with us.
- 7:17Speaker 1: Freddy Anderson didn't even dress, which I was surprised by him,
- 7:20Speaker 1: assuming he must be hurt.
- 7:21Speaker 4: Bussy becomes the third goalie.
- 7:22Speaker 1: Since nineteen sixty eight to make his playoff debut in
- 7:25Speaker 1: the finals under Andrey Vassilevski in twenty fifteen, and you
- 7:28Speaker 1: see markting for Edmonton in six. What do you think
- 7:31Speaker 1: of bussy overall? And JD do you think that Freddy
- 7:33Speaker 1: Anderson has heard? I'm surprised the fact did he even
- 7:35Speaker 1: dress as a backup.
- 7:37Speaker 3: You know, we talked about it, and I think I
- 7:41Speaker 3: really think that was a a move by Rod Branda
- 7:46Speaker 3: Moore because they said, listen, Freddy's getting he's gonna he
- 7:50Speaker 3: needs some rest. Whether the barbershev hit on his head
- 7:53Speaker 3: really affected a you know, we talked to Corey Schneider.
- 7:56Speaker 3: He said he said that Freddy Anderson needs to feel
- 8:01Speaker 3: like he's one hundred percent. Yeah, So I think them
- 8:05Speaker 3: giving him the rest and then also them taking away
- 8:08Speaker 3: any questions moving forward if they go back to him
- 8:13Speaker 3: that he was a healthy scratch or you know, I
- 8:17Speaker 3: think they just listen, he was playing great in the
- 8:20Speaker 3: playoffs up until you know, parts of that second round
- 8:23Speaker 3: when you know his friend mentor agent you know, took
- 8:28Speaker 3: his life, Pepe, and you know.
- 8:31Speaker 2: Pep leaves.
- 8:33Speaker 3: He's that game five, he doesn't really have to take
- 8:35Speaker 3: a ton of shots. But you got to think, like emotionally, mentally, physically,
- 8:40Speaker 3: he's probably just absolutely fucking wiped.
- 8:42Speaker 2: Man.
- 8:42Speaker 3: He's probably so wiped, and I think he's just a
- 8:46Speaker 3: good move by Carolina. Hurricanes, go don't even come to
- 8:49Speaker 3: the rink, just go take a rest, go walk around,
- 8:53Speaker 3: clear your mind.
- 8:54Speaker 2: If you play, you play. If you don't play, you
- 8:56Speaker 2: don't play.
- 8:57Speaker 3: But you know, we got Bussy and again we said
- 8:59Speaker 3: it like Bussy Bussy, and.
- 9:01Speaker 2: And the way they had this all season was.
- 9:04Speaker 3: One A one b You know, they played about the
- 9:06Speaker 3: same amount of games because Freddy was hurt most of
- 9:08Speaker 3: the seed part of the season and Bussy had thirty
- 9:11Speaker 3: one wins, so everybody kind of surprised. They just didn't
- 9:13Speaker 3: have to go to this this this tandem because Freddy
- 9:17Speaker 3: was so good. Now they have to and Bussy comes
- 9:20Speaker 3: in makes that makes a bunch of big saves, a
- 9:24Speaker 3: couple of goals where people were a little you know,
- 9:27Speaker 3: iffed out the Howard and one he was a little
- 9:29Speaker 3: off his line. But I mean, listen, he he's a
- 9:31Speaker 3: great goal that won thirty one games, and he's been
- 9:34Speaker 3: good for this team. And I think he made the
- 9:36Speaker 3: right save at the right time.
- 9:38Speaker 1: And so with Bussy the man in net for Carolina,
- 9:40Speaker 1: you think maybe the rest of the way, any chance
- 9:42Speaker 1: Vegas considers a change in goal, Nate.
- 9:44Speaker 2: I was stunned.
- 9:45Speaker 4: I heard that stat.
- 9:45Speaker 1: Carter Hurt the first goal he to ever allow four
- 9:48Speaker 1: more goals in the first four games the Stanley Cup Finals.
- 9:51Speaker 1: You know, it was the eight to sixty nine save
- 9:52Speaker 1: percent for the series. His backup, Aiden Hill won the
- 9:55Speaker 1: Cup of Vegas. Just three years ago. You had Carter
- 9:58Speaker 1: Hart as a teammate in Philly. What do you think
- 9:59Speaker 1: if Torterell rules the dice, would you put in Aiden Hill?
- 10:02Speaker 5: No, I don't think so. I think you have to
- 10:04Speaker 5: to keep Carter Hart.
- 10:05Speaker 6: And that I think, you know, we've we've seen a
- 10:07Speaker 6: completely different Carter Hart than we did and then in
- 10:10Speaker 6: the Colorado series he definitely has not played as well.
- 10:13Speaker 6: And you know, I was even watching you guys break
- 10:16Speaker 6: it down or watch snids break it down on on
- 10:18Speaker 6: you know, on NHL Network, and you know, showing the
- 10:21Speaker 6: differences between you know, when they're coming behind the net
- 10:24Speaker 6: and the stick stick positioning and stuff.
- 10:27Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 10:28Speaker 6: But you know, I think that the way that you know,
- 10:32Speaker 6: Vegas has given up some chances, especially on the p K.
- 10:36Speaker 6: You know, I think it hasn't really given Carter Hart
- 10:38Speaker 6: the best opportunity. But I think he could definitely play better.
- 10:41Speaker 6: I mean, he hasn't. He hasn't made the saves that
- 10:45Speaker 6: he's needed to for Vegas at key times. And I think, uh,
- 10:50Speaker 6: you know, Torts is going to stick with him. You know,
- 10:52Speaker 6: he just you know, he believes in Carter Hart. So
- 10:54Speaker 6: that's the guy for him. And I expect Carter Hart
- 10:58Speaker 6: to play a lot better. I mean he he just
- 10:59Speaker 6: I think he would tell you the same thing. He
- 11:01Speaker 6: hasn't played up to his potential and they're gonna need
- 11:04Speaker 6: him though. They're gonna need him to make some big
- 11:05Speaker 6: saves because, like you said, j D Brand and Bussy,
- 11:09Speaker 6: I thought he came in and he played great.
- 11:10Speaker 7: Man.
- 11:11Speaker 5: I think he.
- 11:14Speaker 6: Especially especially in in a lot of parts of the
- 11:18Speaker 6: game too. I mean he just he was big for them. So, uh,
- 11:22Speaker 6: Carter Hart's the guy for Vegas. I don't think.
- 11:23Speaker 5: I don't think you can make the change.
- 11:25Speaker 3: Yeah you said, you know it's it's Vegas is so
- 11:29Speaker 3: different than Carolina, Like they've they've barely made any changes
- 11:34Speaker 3: in this series. Like they just they're kind of whole
- 11:36Speaker 3: hum like that, there's no really panic and every time
- 11:40Speaker 3: they win, they say how calm they are, and Towards
- 11:43Speaker 3: has put so much confidence in Carter Hart, and I think,
- 11:47Speaker 3: you know, they've really no matter what happens, he's like,
- 11:51Speaker 3: this is our guy, so I think it always it
- 11:54Speaker 3: helps him. Now, has he been great in these playoffs? No,
- 11:58Speaker 3: not that he was great in Round three?
- 12:01Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 12:04Speaker 3: Utah, yeah they too, right good. Yeah, it's just again
- 12:08Speaker 3: both these goalies. I think the offense has been so interesting,
- 12:13Speaker 3: and it's been more so defensively, Like I don't. I
- 12:17Speaker 3: think both these teams have had holes and they've given
- 12:19Speaker 3: up too many chances, and the goalies are put under
- 12:21Speaker 3: duress a little bit like Carolina in I would say
- 12:24Speaker 3: carter Hart other than last game, the first few periods,
- 12:29Speaker 3: like the first period, I mean, Vegas gets absolutely dominated
- 12:34Speaker 3: for parts of that period and they'll they'll have a
- 12:35Speaker 3: couple of great a's, but carter Hart's kept them in
- 12:38Speaker 3: and every single first period of these Standley Cup Finals
- 12:42Speaker 3: other than Game four, where they you know, just kind
- 12:45Speaker 3: of finally got to them. So it's gonna be interesting
- 12:47Speaker 3: to see. We said it before we came out ore quick, quick,
- 12:51Speaker 3: freaking turnaround.
- 12:52Speaker 5: Yeah, it is like.
- 12:53Speaker 3: Less than less than forty eight or less than less
- 12:56Speaker 3: than forty eight hours. So that's like, I mean, fuck, travel.
- 13:01Speaker 3: Maybe that's like you seem to go already supreme and
- 13:05Speaker 3: he man back to back.
- 13:08Speaker 4: And all the time after an a twenty four film
- 13:10Speaker 4: like that, right.
- 13:11Speaker 3: So that's like, yeah, that's seem Titanic and then right
- 13:14Speaker 3: away jumping into uncut joms or something.
- 13:17Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't know what the equivalent would be.
- 13:19Speaker 2: I like the adalogy. It's very good.
- 13:21Speaker 5: Uh.
- 13:21Speaker 1: Bussy, by the way, stopped eighteen and twenty one shots
- 13:23Speaker 1: in game four, Hart was twenty three to twenty seven.
- 13:25Speaker 4: Our special guest is Pat Maroon. He's gonna join us
- 13:27Speaker 4: and the men.
- 13:27Speaker 1: We're gonna ask him why he snubbed JD quite frankly,
- 13:30Speaker 1: because Maroon's got the juice to kind of hang out
- 13:32Speaker 1: in Vegas, but didn't want to do it early early
- 13:34Speaker 1: call time.
- 13:35Speaker 4: I got Cary terror Pat's excuse.
- 13:37Speaker 1: We're gonna find out what his reasoning was, just leaving
- 13:39Speaker 1: Corey Schneider hanging by himself.
- 13:41Speaker 4: One more topic for you, JD.
- 13:42Speaker 1: In the Cup final, and this is fascinating that Carolina
- 13:44Speaker 1: power play has been a liability, but four for nine
- 13:47Speaker 1: the last three games means in the Vegas power plays
- 13:49Speaker 1: had been really good. They're one for twelve, so Carolina
- 13:52Speaker 1: ranked fourth in the league twenty five percent success rate.
- 13:54Speaker 1: The man advantage couldn't do a thing through three rounds
- 13:56Speaker 1: in one game. What is Carolina doing differently and can
- 14:00Speaker 1: special teams end up being the difference maker in this series?
- 14:04Speaker 3: Well, Jordan stall is just you know, he's dropping his
- 14:07Speaker 3: wrench right in the top of the circle as one.
- 14:10Speaker 2: Now they're they're getting to the middle. You know, they're
- 14:12Speaker 2: getting in the middle.
- 14:12Speaker 3: And their gossip Spear has done a great job of
- 14:15Speaker 3: establishing the middle, and he's influencing the Vegas defense. And
- 14:20Speaker 3: and and Nate can touch too. Just the way they
- 14:23Speaker 3: pk with their forwards, there is a little bit of
- 14:27Speaker 3: it's almost an eye up once they get up top,
- 14:29Speaker 3: and it's that shared responsibility, and there's an exchange. And
- 14:33Speaker 3: and Ghost has been doing a good job of getting
- 14:37Speaker 3: that shot through because when you're that when when you're
- 14:40Speaker 3: that top defense, Milt talk is a powerpot defense. And
- 14:42Speaker 3: when you have that eye up, and basically it's like
- 14:44Speaker 3: once you get to the middle, both forwards exchange. So
- 14:48Speaker 3: they don't want they don't cross over each other, they
- 14:50Speaker 3: don't cross streams, so to speak. And there's just a
- 14:54Speaker 3: little window there when that happens. So if you can
- 14:56Speaker 3: kind of flirt in that middle on those exchanges, you
- 14:59Speaker 3: can find a shot to the net because Vegas is
- 15:01Speaker 3: trusting that they'll out battle in front, and they've gotten
- 15:05Speaker 3: a bunch of shots through where Stall's you know, deposit
- 15:07Speaker 3: because it's hard to get stalls stick. And then when
- 15:11Speaker 3: Carter's been kind of forced to really respect that shot,
- 15:15Speaker 3: they've made those couple one timers. So it's really interesting
- 15:18Speaker 3: to see how it plays out. Your Vegas has struggled
- 15:21Speaker 3: on the penalty killed, but more importantly, their PP has
- 15:25Speaker 3: not been good. It has not been effective Jack. They
- 15:27Speaker 3: can't get to Dori Feyev and Jack's not shooting just
- 15:31Speaker 3: it's just it looks bad right now, really bad.
- 15:33Speaker 6: Yeah, And like to your point on the Carolina's power play,
- 15:37Speaker 6: and like you said, I wasn't a power play guy,
- 15:39Speaker 6: but being a like penalty killing against a power play
- 15:42Speaker 6: like that, and the thing that jumps out at me
- 15:44Speaker 6: for Carolina is how much more deliberate they are with
- 15:47Speaker 6: the puck. You know, it's like one I mean, I mean,
- 15:50Speaker 6: you know, JD. It's one past two past shot, one
- 15:52Speaker 6: past two pass, make the play go to the net,
- 15:54Speaker 6: and that's that's kind of how what they've been doing,
- 15:56Speaker 6: and I think that's why they're getting success.
- 15:58Speaker 5: And you said it too.
- 15:59Speaker 6: I think Austin Speer, how good he's been like walking
- 16:01Speaker 6: the line, you know, getting that middle of the eye,
- 16:04Speaker 6: and then when he has a play, he's made it
- 16:06Speaker 6: and then just they're going to the net and they're
- 16:07Speaker 6: getting rewarded, so I think, and then you said, I
- 16:12Speaker 6: think with the with stalled being in front of the net,
- 16:15Speaker 6: he just causes so much havoc and makes it really
- 16:17Speaker 6: really hard for their d to to box out or
- 16:20Speaker 6: you know, shut their power play down, so that that
- 16:23Speaker 6: that could be the difference. I mean, we got best
- 16:24Speaker 6: at three now, so if they can keep that power
- 16:27Speaker 6: play going, that could be that could be a big one.
- 16:30Speaker 1: One more top creator specially guess Pat Maroon is babs back.
- 16:34Speaker 4: In a wildly predictable summer JD.
- 16:36Speaker 1: I was astonished with this, And by the way, I'm
- 16:37Speaker 1: still not conmits is gonna happen because the NHLP they
- 16:39Speaker 1: have to investigate exactly what happened in Columbus. They might
- 16:42Speaker 1: just say no, we're not we're fighting this, it's not
- 16:44Speaker 1: gonna happen. But oilers GM Stan Bowman looking to hit
- 16:48Speaker 1: a home run. He's gonna try to hire Babs Uh.
- 16:51Speaker 1: The team was talking with the NHLP but any hurdles.
- 16:53Speaker 5: It's mid face.
- 16:54Speaker 1: Here's the thing about Babs hasn't coached the NHL since
- 16:56Speaker 1: twenty nineteen. That's an eternity to me in the NHL seven.
- 16:59Speaker 1: Here's a long time after his firing into our reports emerged,
- 17:02Speaker 1: he asked Mitch Murhner for a list rank in the
- 17:04Speaker 1: team's hardest working in Lazy's player, a list he later
- 17:07Speaker 1: shared with the team.
- 17:08Speaker 2: Just absolute sabotage.
- 17:10Speaker 1: Then in twenty twenty three, Columbus hired him fired him
- 17:13Speaker 1: after reseveal the ass players to review photos on their phones.
- 17:17Speaker 1: What do you think of this potential high Again, I'm
- 17:19Speaker 1: not convinced it happens. I wouldn't want to play for him.
- 17:21Speaker 1: He is a terrible resume and at least in terms
- 17:24Speaker 1: of players, I get the back to resumes one Cup
- 17:26Speaker 1: to Troit, etc. But can Babcock still coach and n
- 17:28Speaker 1: SOL Why is stand Bowen doing this?
- 17:32Speaker 3: If he asked me to get pictures on my phone,
- 17:34Speaker 3: I would just fill up my phone with porn and
- 17:37Speaker 3: like beast reality, like the most disgusting nonsense on my phone.
- 17:45Speaker 2: I'd be like, here you go, Babs.
- 17:46Speaker 3: And I'd be like, well, this is a sheep in
- 17:49Speaker 3: some random human I swear like that.
- 17:53Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 17:53Speaker 3: Apparently there's other stuff too, Nate that's coming out, Like
- 17:57Speaker 3: I don't know if like the NHLP came out, he
- 18:00Speaker 3: was like they were like hiding stuff.
- 18:01Speaker 2: They didn't want to bring anything.
- 18:03Speaker 3: To light because it was enough to kind of get
- 18:05Speaker 3: him fired that first time. But like there's more than
- 18:08Speaker 3: just the photos apparently, and they opened that investigation. So
- 18:12Speaker 3: whatever it is, I don't know. I mean, I heard
- 18:15Speaker 3: through the grapevine that this was somebody that Connor and
- 18:18Speaker 3: Leon wanted and they were involved in this.
- 18:20Speaker 1: It's an excellent point, apparently stand Bone, Like the rumor
- 18:22Speaker 1: says like they've talked to the players about it, when
- 18:24Speaker 1: the players obviously there's two toddlers.
- 18:26Speaker 4: It's a good point. If Connor's in favor of it,
- 18:28Speaker 4: that changes things.
- 18:29Speaker 3: I know, But I don't know if Connor knows what
- 18:31Speaker 3: he's getting himself into, you know what I mean, Like,
- 18:33Speaker 3: I don't know if what you wish for, Yeah, I
- 18:36Speaker 3: don't know if I trust your judgment on and I
- 18:38Speaker 3: I was looking at people online that's saying, who was
- 18:41Speaker 3: it that said it was Commodore. Commodore said, who's a
- 18:45Speaker 3: fan of the show, who absolutely absolutely a passion. But
- 18:50Speaker 3: he said, it's not the top guys that are going
- 18:52Speaker 3: to suffer. It's he goes, it's the third and fourth
- 18:55Speaker 3: line guys. It's the equipment staff. He goes, it's the
- 18:59Speaker 3: ushers at the rink. He goes, They're the ones that
- 19:02Speaker 3: are going to suffer, not you know, honor and layon.
- 19:05Speaker 3: So I don't love it. They you could talk more
- 19:08Speaker 3: on it, but I.
- 19:11Speaker 2: Listen. Is he a great hockey mind?
- 19:13Speaker 3: Maybe? But you heard stuff. And I'll say, lastly, you
- 19:17Speaker 3: know those teams in Detroit they were loaded. They were
- 19:20Speaker 3: fucking loaded.
- 19:21Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 19:21Speaker 3: I mean I could have coached it when I was
- 19:23Speaker 3: thirteen years old and I would have been fine. Just
- 19:25Speaker 3: throw out Nick Listrum and Brian Rafalski and all those
- 19:29Speaker 3: Zetterberg and Datsuos. So I don't know, Edmonton fucking nightmare.
- 19:34Speaker 6: What are we doing? Like I don't, I don't understand it.
- 19:37Speaker 6: And the other thing is is you're hiring Mike Babcock.
- 19:40Speaker 6: That like it's one thing if the Edmonton Oilers roster
- 19:43Speaker 6: is good to go and they're ready to like they're
- 19:46Speaker 6: firing all cylinders and this is a Stanley Cup contending team,
- 19:48Speaker 6: but like they're not, Like Mike Babcock is not going
- 19:51Speaker 6: to fix all your other problems.
- 19:53Speaker 5: That you have.
- 19:54Speaker 6: And I don't know, like like you said, yeah, he's
- 19:58Speaker 6: he's got a resume as a good coach and stuff,
- 20:00Speaker 6: but like at what fucking cost?
- 20:01Speaker 2: You know, Like this guy is f bomb.
- 20:03Speaker 6: I like that second and third chance, like you know,
- 20:08Speaker 6: you know what I mean. I don't know, it's for me,
- 20:10Speaker 6: it's you know, we're just recycling. However, many years later,
- 20:16Speaker 6: and I'm sure I don't know. I'm sure maybe these
- 20:19Speaker 6: guys Connor Leon they need they want something like this,
- 20:22Speaker 6: they need to coach. They're trying to push themselves.
- 20:24Speaker 5: But I don't know.
- 20:25Speaker 6: I like I said, be careful what you wish for
- 20:27Speaker 6: because and like what you said, av, who knows, maybe
- 20:33Speaker 6: maybe he doesn't get hired because they're going to do
- 20:35Speaker 6: their due diligence and their investigations and they're gonna be.
- 20:37Speaker 5: Like nah, I don't think so. So I don't know.
- 20:39Speaker 1: We'll see, we shall see coming up next here on
- 20:42Speaker 1: NHL Unscripted. Pat Maroon, three times Stanley Cup champion, what
- 20:45Speaker 1: it's like working with Jason Demurz, the Cup file and
- 20:47Speaker 1: who he's got the rest of the way, It's coming
- 20:49Speaker 1: up next, our next guest.
- 21:03Speaker 4: Always working in June.
- 21:04Speaker 1: He won the Stanley Cup three straight ears the Blues
- 21:06Speaker 1: and Lightning between twenty nineteen twenty twenty one, then went
- 21:09Speaker 1: back to the finals one more time in twenty twenty two.
- 21:12Speaker 1: Since retiring as a player, entering the media circus, he's
- 21:15Speaker 1: been a great teammate for US at iNHL Newick with
- 21:17Speaker 1: our coverage in the Stanley Cup finals second time on unscripted,
- 21:20Speaker 1: It's the big rig Pat Patty.
- 21:22Speaker 2: Great to see you, buddy. Thanks for the time on.
- 21:23Speaker 7: So fellas, how are we? Thank god we're out of Vegas.
- 21:31Speaker 3: You're legendary. You're in a legendary run. There to end it,
- 21:34Speaker 3: it was touch and go for you.
- 21:36Speaker 7: Yeah, I was.
- 21:39Speaker 1: We'll get to the hockey dis and sect Patty, but
- 21:40Speaker 1: JD was matching. It was his birthday and he wanted
- 21:42Speaker 1: to go to car Bones. He said, you've got the
- 21:44Speaker 1: juice in Vegas. Unfortunately did not go to dinner, which
- 21:47Speaker 1: made it very awkward. It was Jady and his wife
- 21:49Speaker 1: and Corey Schneider. Yeah that what happened there, just cleanland
- 21:53Speaker 1: up the face.
- 21:54Speaker 7: I was a little tired for the night before. I'm
- 21:56Speaker 7: not gonna lie. We me and Schneide went to dinner.
- 22:01Speaker 7: We actually saw JD that night and then Schneide like
- 22:05Speaker 7: I don't know, around one o'clock said, uh, I'm going
- 22:08Speaker 7: to bed, but here's five hundred bucks. Go try something.
- 22:12Speaker 2: Yes, and so h.
- 22:15Speaker 7: I sure did? I had. I won nineteen hands in
- 22:18Speaker 7: a row. What Yeah, So thanksious nice because he got
- 22:25Speaker 7: me back because it was it was bad there for
- 22:29Speaker 7: a second. There was a lot of touch and go,
- 22:32Speaker 7: like JD said, so but yeah, but I I, uh,
- 22:36Speaker 7: it's a good night to say the least. Actually it
- 22:39Speaker 7: was one of the not of the later nights that
- 22:43Speaker 7: we had.
- 22:44Speaker 2: But he gave bucks. You part lived then?
- 22:46Speaker 4: How much you won nineteen straight hands?
- 22:48Speaker 7: Oh yeah, eleven five?
- 22:50Speaker 2: Dude goes for you. Patt goes, yeah, goes.
- 22:54Speaker 3: I go to bed because I'm trying to, you know,
- 22:56Speaker 3: get some sleep because we're you know, I had a
- 22:59Speaker 3: good time. When we're there, he goes, I mean I'm
- 23:01Speaker 3: in bed all this my phone starts ringing and it's like,
- 23:04Speaker 3: you know, Fall thirty one, and Patty's like.
- 23:07Speaker 4: Yeah, I just want I would you know, I went
- 23:09Speaker 4: on this run.
- 23:09Speaker 3: And he's like, I'm fucking trying to sleep right now.
- 23:12Speaker 3: Take it through it, like Patty. But we had a
- 23:15Speaker 3: good time.
- 23:17Speaker 7: It was great. It's been fun. It's been a great
- 23:19Speaker 7: experience working with these guys and uh, getting to you know,
- 23:23Speaker 7: it's Vegas. It's just chaote. It's like this series right now.
- 23:27Speaker 7: You never know. You walk into the hotel, You're like,
- 23:29Speaker 7: should you have a beer or should you go gambles?
- 23:31Speaker 7: I just don't know what you want to do.
- 23:33Speaker 3: You know, yeah, both coaches probably want to have a
- 23:36Speaker 3: beer after every game. But I mean, sticking on that, Patty,
- 23:39Speaker 3: what's your takeaway so far from the series? I mean
- 23:41Speaker 3: you've been you've been in uh in Raleigh and Vegas,
- 23:46Speaker 3: but like, what's your takeaway? Probably one of the most
- 23:49Speaker 3: craziest Bananas Cup Finals in recent memory.
- 23:53Speaker 7: It's one of the best too. I think just watching
- 23:55Speaker 7: it too, because you don't know what's going to happen,
- 23:57Speaker 7: and I'm sure the coaches want something different because no
- 24:00Speaker 7: one's really taking over the series kind of uh, but
- 24:06Speaker 7: we're seeing a lot of good things out a lot
- 24:08Speaker 7: of good players. Jordan Stall Stanley Cup Finals. I know
- 24:11Speaker 7: you had your take yesterday on that stan Covid. Now
- 24:14Speaker 7: he has some big time goals in this final, so
- 24:17Speaker 7: now he can maybe be up for the con Smyth.
- 24:20Speaker 7: Mitchie Marner doing Mitchie Marner things that we all expected
- 24:24Speaker 7: that he would do. And I think a lot of
- 24:27Speaker 7: the big topics that we've been talking about JD is
- 24:30Speaker 7: you know, he has a lot of star power on
- 24:34Speaker 7: his team now, so it's like you kind of put
- 24:36Speaker 7: Mitch Marner on the back a little bit. But I
- 24:40Speaker 7: think the biggest takeaway I've been taken is like, what's
- 24:43Speaker 7: going on with Carolina in the second period? What's going
- 24:46Speaker 7: on with Vegas in the third period. The first period
- 24:49Speaker 7: has been great and then the rest has been just
- 24:52Speaker 7: chaotic on both.
- 24:53Speaker 2: Sides, shit for both teams.
- 24:54Speaker 7: The goalies have been below average. Bussy comes in. I
- 24:58Speaker 7: had my terrible take on that, so.
- 25:00Speaker 3: Big, Hey, in your defense, Listen, we're in TV. You
- 25:05Speaker 3: have to make a lot you're wrong as much as
- 25:08Speaker 3: you're right, and.
- 25:09Speaker 2: You have to eat them, and you ate it very well.
- 25:11Speaker 3: But you were fucking we're before the show and we're
- 25:13Speaker 3: all saying, we're like, we think Bussy is gonna come
- 25:16Speaker 3: and playing a game and he's going, Bussy sucks.
- 25:19Speaker 7: You've got a.
- 25:19Speaker 3: Lot of holes in his game, No way they're gonna
- 25:21Speaker 3: shell them, and you gotta hit it.
- 25:23Speaker 2: You gotta go on air right after.
- 25:25Speaker 7: And I did. I hate it. I was wrong. I
- 25:28Speaker 7: even I even said that. So, but just talking to
- 25:31Speaker 7: some people yesterday too, I talked to Coopman, I talked
- 25:34Speaker 7: to Ryan McDonough and you know, just thinking about this series,
- 25:38Speaker 7: it's just no one's really taking a stranglehold on it.
- 25:41Speaker 7: Which is you know, which is good? I guess for
- 25:44Speaker 7: us as viewers and fans, because it's it's a lot
- 25:48Speaker 7: of hockey. It's a lot of good hockey. It's a
- 25:49Speaker 7: lot of back and forth. No lead is safe and
- 25:53Speaker 7: that's it.
- 25:55Speaker 6: If it's any consolation, Patty, I also like you agreed
- 25:58Speaker 6: with you and thought Freddy should have stayed. So I
- 26:00Speaker 6: was wrong eating Crow, but I was I was watching,
- 26:03Speaker 6: I was listening. You know, take us into this series, Patty.
- 26:08Speaker 6: You've been to the finals obviously several times, and you
- 26:12Speaker 6: know now it's the best of three and tied to two,
- 26:15Speaker 6: so what like, take us into you know your scenario
- 26:19Speaker 6: when you want, and what's going on there where you know,
- 26:21Speaker 6: it's almost like you said, now it's the best of
- 26:24Speaker 6: three and you know who's going to take the series.
- 26:28Speaker 6: How does Carolina go about it? And how does Vegas
- 26:30Speaker 6: go about it? Being on the road and at home.
- 26:33Speaker 7: Yeah, so I've been lucky enough where you know, when
- 26:36Speaker 7: we won against Dallas, we were up three to two
- 26:41Speaker 7: in the bubble, and then we were up we obviously
- 26:43Speaker 7: won in Saint Louis. We were up three to two
- 26:46Speaker 7: going back to Boston, back to Saint Louis and we
- 26:49Speaker 7: lost at home to win the Stanley Cup, and then
- 26:51Speaker 7: we won Game seven. So there's a lot of bubble.
- 26:54Speaker 7: Was different because Dallas, right, you're kind of just by yourself.
- 26:58Speaker 7: There's no fans, There's not a lot of energy going in,
- 27:02Speaker 7: no distractions in Saint Louis, And I think that was
- 27:04Speaker 7: the biggest thing for us in Saint Louis. I tell
- 27:08Speaker 7: the story all the time, it's so we're up three too,
- 27:10Speaker 7: we go back home. You know, newspapers writing all these
- 27:14Speaker 7: articles already had the Stanley Cup pictures going out, and
- 27:17Speaker 7: then post dispatch, like you know, the family members are
- 27:21Speaker 7: starting to fly in how many tickets can you get,
- 27:25Speaker 7: how many people can come on the ice if you win.
- 27:26Speaker 7: There's so many distractions that go into all this, and
- 27:30Speaker 7: I think, uh, so you know, whoever wins Game three,
- 27:34Speaker 7: just live in the moment, turn your phone off, Uh,
- 27:38Speaker 7: be present in the moment, be with the guys. Because
- 27:41Speaker 7: it's so it's such a hard Uh it's hard to
- 27:46Speaker 7: say no sometimes and unfortunately you have to just listen,
- 27:49Speaker 7: I'm not dealing with it. Call my wife or call
- 27:51Speaker 7: someone else, because I think that's the biggest thing. So
- 27:54Speaker 7: for when you're looking at this as a whole three,
- 27:57Speaker 7: as a two to two best of three series, you know,
- 28:00Speaker 7: just take advantage of it. Right now, who's gonna who's
- 28:03Speaker 7: gonna want to take it? Stranglehold on the series? And listen,
- 28:06Speaker 7: there's gonna be ebbs and flows into the game. Someone's
- 28:08Speaker 7: going to leave tonight up three too. But you're not.
- 28:11Speaker 7: You're not out of the series by any means, right, So,
- 28:15Speaker 7: I think it's just one game, one shift at a time.
- 28:18Speaker 7: You can't really focus on the outcome. You got to
- 28:20Speaker 7: focus on the process, the way why you got here.
- 28:24Speaker 7: You know, they always say process over outcome, So you
- 28:27Speaker 7: know that was always our thought process that was, you know,
- 28:30Speaker 7: the coaches that we had that I had always thought of.
- 28:33Speaker 7: So but take out all the distractions. The closer you
- 28:38Speaker 7: get to raising the cup, the more distractions come.
- 28:42Speaker 2: Yeah, it's well said.
- 28:43Speaker 4: Away from the second file packed.
- 28:44Speaker 1: Do you want to mention congrats and order your Sonny Anthony's
- 28:47Speaker 1: sign an HL scholarship and development agreement with the London Knights.
- 28:50Speaker 1: He's already committed to Western Michigan for twenty twenty seven.
- 28:53Speaker 4: Must be a very exciting time for dad.
- 28:55Speaker 2: Right, fucking Western out.
- 28:57Speaker 7: Yeah. Well he's coming to us Vegas Friday tomorrow.
- 29:00Speaker 2: So oh oh yeah, he is to be sick.
- 29:03Speaker 7: It will be fun. And Goldie's coming to and she
- 29:06Speaker 7: had a Game six prediction that Vegas and six. So
- 29:10Speaker 7: Vegas wins tonight, then her prediction might be right.
- 29:15Speaker 2: So one of us is right, Hey, one of.
- 29:18Speaker 7: Us is right. Well I'm not right right? I think
- 29:23Speaker 7: I picked Carolina and in six didn't I I.
- 29:26Speaker 1: Don't know, I forgot, but all right, Demurs and Nate
- 29:28Speaker 1: pick Caroline as well. Me and Talad did pick Vegas
- 29:30Speaker 1: and seven. I do want to mention as well, Pat,
- 29:32Speaker 1: you played for Dale Hunter in London almost twenty years ago.
- 29:35Speaker 1: What's it been like talk to him about your son
- 29:37Speaker 1: coming aboard?
- 29:39Speaker 7: It's it's funny because I've only talked to Dale once.
- 29:42Speaker 7: It's more Mark and Mark is a great guy. He's
- 29:46Speaker 7: so serious. He's very honest and raw. And that's why
- 29:50Speaker 7: I Toldy Anthony when he was going through that process,
- 29:53Speaker 7: as you're seventeen years old, you make your own decisions now.
- 29:56Speaker 7: And he was so focused on going back to Mischgan,
- 30:00Speaker 7: which was great, and London drafted him and Mark Hunter
- 30:04Speaker 7: just texted him. They were communicating throughout the year. He
- 30:06Speaker 7: would come visit him, watch him play, and uh, he
- 30:09Speaker 7: texted him and he's like, dad, Mister Hunter texted me.
- 30:12Speaker 7: I said, Okay, just give him a chance. Listen to him.
- 30:14Speaker 7: You never know, like you're never gonna know if you
- 30:18Speaker 7: don't listen to what he has to offer. You already
- 30:20Speaker 7: know what Miskegan has to offer. So way out your
- 30:23Speaker 7: pros and cons during this you know process. I know
- 30:26Speaker 7: you love Miskegan. I know you like the coaches there,
- 30:29Speaker 7: the guys, the facility, the team just lost in the finals.
- 30:33Speaker 7: You guys are gonna have a good team again, you know,
- 30:36Speaker 7: Just weigh out all your options. That can basically, you know,
- 30:41Speaker 7: take you to where you want to go. And he's like, okay,
- 30:43Speaker 7: So he listened to Mark, gets off the phone calls me.
- 30:46Speaker 7: He's like, Dad, that was great. They want to have
- 30:48Speaker 7: another phone call. And I think that whole process of
- 30:51Speaker 7: listening to now Dale, Mark and uh Rob Simpson on
- 30:56Speaker 7: the phone call of us for uh, I think what
- 30:59Speaker 7: they had to offer. And I think I saw Danny
- 31:02Speaker 7: Sirept just put out a post on the HL. It's
- 31:04Speaker 7: like the NHL has produced more NHL players than any
- 31:07Speaker 7: junior league.
- 31:08Speaker 2: Oh here we go.
- 31:10Speaker 7: So uh that so I think just the I don't
- 31:17Speaker 7: know London's is you know Staple. Everyone wants to play
- 31:20Speaker 7: for London Nights. I played there. You know the players
- 31:23Speaker 7: they produce, the NHL players that have been going to London,
- 31:27Speaker 7: Mitchie Martner, Matthew Kachuck, you can name Corey Perry, you
- 31:31Speaker 7: can name the list of guys, uh, star power, John Tavares, Cadre.
- 31:37Speaker 7: I mean these guys that they produce. I'm a Max
- 31:41Speaker 7: DOMI I'm assuming you guys have a different opinion. Jd uh.
- 31:47Speaker 7: But you know I thought for him to get developed
- 31:50Speaker 7: and Mark's been a GM in the in the NHL.
- 31:54Speaker 7: So it's like Dale's been a coach in the NHL,
- 31:57Speaker 7: so it's like, have that have those the guys and
- 32:00Speaker 7: the culture and how to get to the next level.
- 32:02Speaker 7: I thought that was a good option for him, but
- 32:04Speaker 7: I couldn't say that to him because he's seventeen years old.
- 32:07Speaker 7: I can just guide him to where he needs to go,
- 32:09Speaker 7: but he's got to make that own decision.
- 32:11Speaker 2: I mean that's important.
- 32:12Speaker 3: I think that's the best part of the whole situation
- 32:14Speaker 3: is he's going somewhere he wants to go, not forced
- 32:18Speaker 3: and London listen they I mean, it's it's treated. Everything
- 32:21Speaker 3: I've heard is it's treated like an NHL franchise. So
- 32:23Speaker 3: it's really just they get a taste early. I mean,
- 32:26Speaker 3: do you have any Hunter stories from either Dale or
- 32:29Speaker 3: Mark in the way they run that team? Anything good?
- 32:32Speaker 3: Having those big gruff fuckers is a coaching GM stories?
- 32:39Speaker 7: Oh? Man, uh no, I no, I mean they're just
- 32:44Speaker 7: they're honest, man. I mean when I it's funny. When
- 32:48Speaker 7: I got there, they put me on this like I
- 32:51Speaker 7: found a trainer. They found me a trainer.
- 32:54Speaker 2: I was going there because I put you in the
- 32:55Speaker 2: fat club.
- 32:57Speaker 7: They put me in the fat Club, and that's what
- 33:00Speaker 7: I got. That's when I got introduced to the five
- 33:02Speaker 7: hundred cow bike ride. I never knew what that was.
- 33:04Speaker 2: Oh, that's the worst.
- 33:06Speaker 7: And Dale used to ride it next to me and
- 33:08Speaker 7: we used to ride together, and Dale's a big bike guy.
- 33:11Speaker 7: So and then they found a trainer for me. So
- 33:14Speaker 7: I would go every morning for breakfast club because I
- 33:17Speaker 7: didn't know what breakfast club was either, because that's I
- 33:19Speaker 7: guess that's a Canadian thing, isn't it. I don't think
- 33:22Speaker 7: that was a junior thing, was it. Uh, Well, especially
- 33:25Speaker 7: in the States, so the kids that weren't going to
- 33:29Speaker 7: college would come into the rink and work out. But
- 33:32Speaker 7: they sent me to a trainer offsite because Philly got
- 33:36Speaker 7: ahold of them, and Philly wanted me to be a
- 33:38Speaker 7: certain weight, so offsite, So.
- 33:44Speaker 2: Yeah, kids shift out to work out. Yeah, that's.
- 33:50Speaker 7: Yeah. And so it was good though, you know. Uh,
- 33:55Speaker 7: they were great to me. They were very honest with me,
- 33:58Speaker 7: and they pushed me to my max. And I think
- 34:00Speaker 7: it made me a better hockey player because I don't
- 34:03Speaker 7: think they expected me to come in and do what
- 34:06Speaker 7: I did right away. And but I had some falls
- 34:10Speaker 7: in my game. I had some bad stuff in my
- 34:13Speaker 7: game that you know, they worked on and got me
- 34:15Speaker 7: better at, and but they were just funny guys. They're
- 34:18Speaker 7: they're great to be around every day, and Dale's a
- 34:23Speaker 7: hoot to be around every day. And they're just so
- 34:26Speaker 7: passionate about the kids too. Honestly, I don't there's there's
- 34:30Speaker 7: nothing but good stories, some bad, some bad off office
- 34:35Speaker 7: visits to Mark Hunter's office when I was playing bad,
- 34:38Speaker 7: But other than that, it was fine. You know, you learn,
- 34:41Speaker 7: you learned the hard way when you have You're just
- 34:43Speaker 7: sitting there getting ringed by Mark Hunter. You're like, man,
- 34:47Speaker 7: this is if this is what it's like in the pros,
- 34:49Speaker 7: and I'm screwed.
- 34:52Speaker 6: I think it worked out, Patty, and I'm so happy
- 34:55Speaker 6: for I'm so happy for Anthony. Man, this is this
- 34:58Speaker 6: is gonna be fun to I'm definitely have to tune
- 35:00Speaker 6: in and see some of his I'm sure he's gonna
- 35:01Speaker 6: be tilting and fighting because he had some good fights
- 35:04Speaker 6: in the us HL this past year, the ones I saw,
- 35:06Speaker 6: so that should be fun to watch. It's Patty got
- 35:09Speaker 6: to ask you about a couple of reformer teams, you know,
- 35:12Speaker 6: Tampa and especially Edmonton, and what their plans are moving
- 35:17Speaker 6: forward and what you think of all this Mike Babcock
- 35:21Speaker 6: talking if that's the right guy.
- 35:24Speaker 5: For your former teammates and leon and and Connor.
- 35:28Speaker 7: Yeah, I geez, man, I don't know. Yeah, So that's
- 35:35Speaker 7: your time. It's interesting because it's uh, you know, I
- 35:39Speaker 7: feel like those guys want to win, right, And when
- 35:41Speaker 7: you want to win, you want to get pushed to
- 35:42Speaker 7: the match, you want to be challenged a bit. You
- 35:45Speaker 7: want to get called out in the media, you want
- 35:46Speaker 7: to be called out in film meetings. I think it's
- 35:49Speaker 7: it's a reflection on your team and when your top
- 35:52Speaker 7: guys are getting challenged a bit, because if they're getting
- 35:56Speaker 7: challenged and everyone else is getting challenged, hold everyone else accountable.
- 36:00Speaker 7: And I think that's what they want. They don't want
- 36:02Speaker 7: to be looked at anyone different different than on the team. Right.
- 36:05Speaker 7: We know the star power they have, we know how
- 36:08Speaker 7: they can take over a game. I think there's JD
- 36:11Speaker 7: me and you talked about it. There's just maybe some
- 36:14Speaker 7: holes in the game that they can fix a little bit.
- 36:16Speaker 5: You know.
- 36:16Speaker 7: I think at the end of the day, you want
- 36:22Speaker 7: to win, and with those two players and what they're
- 36:26Speaker 7: capable of doing, you got to build a team around
- 36:28Speaker 7: them too. Also, you got to give them a little
- 36:30Speaker 7: bit of support, but you also got to support your
- 36:34Speaker 7: teammates defensively a little bit better. I think you know
- 36:37Speaker 7: you got we know the offenses there, but can you
- 36:40Speaker 7: play that two hundred foot game? Can you give them
- 36:42Speaker 7: an extra you know, extra fifteen seconds in the deson
- 36:47Speaker 7: where you're stopping and starting instead of you know, this
- 36:50Speaker 7: little things details in their game. I think that's the
- 36:53Speaker 7: most important thing, and I think that's what they want.
- 36:55Speaker 7: They want someone to be challenging. I'm assuming if Bruce
- 36:58Speaker 7: Cassie was available, he would be going there. But we
- 37:02Speaker 7: obviously have no idea what's going on on with that
- 37:05Speaker 7: scenario or what's going to happen, so I'm assuming that
- 37:09Speaker 7: would be their first take. But again, Mike Babcock, we know,
- 37:13Speaker 7: we know the stories, the horror stories that have been
- 37:15Speaker 7: coming out with him, but it's like, and we know
- 37:19Speaker 7: guys don't like him, but again, I suppose he's one
- 37:24Speaker 7: of the best actors in OH coaches. He's a really
- 37:26Speaker 7: good coach detailed. So it's like, maybe is this the
- 37:30Speaker 7: guy that can get them over the hump and push
- 37:32Speaker 7: not only counter but their whole team, right.
- 37:36Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean it.
- 37:38Speaker 3: I think Stan's got to worry about getting a team
- 37:40Speaker 3: that can be serviceable on the ice and figuring out
- 37:43Speaker 3: a lot of the question marks, but a team that
- 37:45Speaker 3: kind of I don't even know what you make of Tampa,
- 37:49Speaker 3: And I wanted to ask you because you know, you
- 37:50Speaker 3: talk about talking with Coop and McDonough and what were
- 37:53Speaker 3: their feelings if they had any, and you chatted with
- 37:56Speaker 3: them a little bit just about the way it ended,
- 37:59Speaker 3: because you look at Montreal and you really look at
- 38:03Speaker 3: that serial and you're like, Tampa had it and had
- 38:08Speaker 3: it within their grasp a couple of times. Is there
- 38:11Speaker 3: is there panic there or is it more kind of
- 38:15Speaker 3: what's what's something that they need? Also, because you know
- 38:18Speaker 3: you're working with them on the media side, like what
- 38:20Speaker 3: did they need moving forward to kind of get back
- 38:22Speaker 3: to the top of the to the top of the mountain.
- 38:26Speaker 7: Yeah. I was talking to koop Uh it was like
- 38:29Speaker 7: two weeks after a game of call because I was
- 38:32Speaker 7: congratulating the Sun he got drafted by Green Bay and
- 38:35Speaker 7: us GEL and I was like, Hey, how you feeling.
- 38:37Speaker 7: He's like that loss felt like the Columbus series when
- 38:40Speaker 7: we got swat That's what it felt like. And you know,
- 38:45Speaker 7: the guys were down, Mac was down. It's they played
- 38:49Speaker 7: the perfect game and the result did not come out
- 38:51Speaker 7: their way or and I think that's you know, and
- 38:56Speaker 7: you can look about you know, Vassi in game six
- 39:01Speaker 7: Montreal kind of he kind of made some big say
- 39:04Speaker 7: and they came out on top. And then game seven
- 39:07Speaker 7: they throw the kitchen sink at this team. They have
- 39:10Speaker 7: four shots going on the third period. Their fish shot
- 39:13Speaker 7: was Caulfield's flip in from the blue line, and then
- 39:16Speaker 7: all of a sudden, just the pressure, pressure, pressure, and
- 39:19Speaker 7: they get one zone entry that turn into a lot
- 39:22Speaker 7: of pressure, and then they get a line change turned
- 39:24Speaker 7: over and then they go back in and then all
- 39:26Speaker 7: of a sudden there's their shift that they needed and
- 39:29Speaker 7: they get that bounce and it just felt like it
- 39:32Speaker 7: deflated everything. It felt like, what else do we need
- 39:35Speaker 7: to do to, you know, to win this hockey game.
- 39:38Speaker 7: Dobish played great. You got to give him credit. You
- 39:41Speaker 7: gotta tip the cap sometimes, you know, goalie can steal
- 39:44Speaker 7: game for you. And that's kind of what happened, right
- 39:46Speaker 7: And JD to your point, what do they need maybe
- 39:51Speaker 7: a top right guy, a right hand shot, maybe for
- 39:54Speaker 7: that power play that's really been missing. Stammer a right
- 40:00Speaker 7: hand shot to maybe play with Couch and Pointer, you know,
- 40:05Speaker 7: someone that can mix up there. I know Hegel played
- 40:07Speaker 7: a bunch up there. I know it was Sorelli. Hegel
- 40:11Speaker 7: coots a little bit and then I know his point,
- 40:14Speaker 7: uh Gonzalvas and uh Goenseol. So maybe another right hand
- 40:20Speaker 7: shot offensive top six, I think their bottom six and listen,
- 40:24Speaker 7: you gonna remember too, Holmberg was a big piece of that. Yeah,
- 40:28Speaker 7: he was out. So he was a big piece of
- 40:31Speaker 7: that third line of Gergensen and Gord. So when you
- 40:36Speaker 7: think about that line of the success they had, but
- 40:38Speaker 7: also shutting down the top lines that it kind of
- 40:41Speaker 7: messed up the rotation a bit in my opinion, because
- 40:43Speaker 7: that was a they were trying to find guys to
- 40:46Speaker 7: fit in with Gergenson and Gordon. Then yeah, I don't
- 40:50Speaker 7: know if you guys were watching, but by game three
- 40:52Speaker 7: or four they separated that line. Yeah, and then Perry
- 40:55Speaker 7: went up and then Perry on game seven was with
- 40:58Speaker 7: Pointer and Genseol, and like it was just they couldn't
- 41:02Speaker 7: find that line. I know that's the line they wanted
- 41:04Speaker 7: because it's like when we won the Cup, it was
- 41:07Speaker 7: Goodrow and Coleman, you know, with Gord and then they
- 41:11Speaker 7: finally found that Gurgenson Homburg Gord line that kind of
- 41:14Speaker 7: relieved pressure from the top guys a little bit, and
- 41:17Speaker 7: I think that kind of missed out when Holmberg went down.
- 41:20Speaker 7: And listen, they ran into a lot of injuries and
- 41:22Speaker 7: that's the way they handled the situation. The way they
- 41:25Speaker 7: played this year throughout the year with they didn't have
- 41:28Speaker 7: a full lineup from preseason.
- 41:31Speaker 2: To the end of the area to the end.
- 41:33Speaker 7: Of the year. So it's like to what they did
- 41:36Speaker 7: and where they finished in the regular season and how
- 41:38Speaker 7: they played. It's kind of remarkable because they didn't have
- 41:41Speaker 7: a full lineup at all and Victor Haman was out.
- 41:45Speaker 7: That's a huge loss on the back end. If he's playing,
- 41:48Speaker 7: is it a different It's probably different again Homburg, you know,
- 41:54Speaker 7: Borgstram was kind of a healthy stress towards the end
- 41:57Speaker 7: of the end of the season and into playoffs. He
- 41:59Speaker 7: finally started playing in game threes, four, five and six
- 42:02Speaker 7: and seven, so you know, you just just their d
- 42:07Speaker 7: are kind of solid. I thought they d played good
- 42:08Speaker 7: all year. Vassileski had a great year again, so they
- 42:13Speaker 7: have the goalie. The window is still open for these guys.
- 42:15Speaker 7: They have a lot of talent. You know, they are
- 42:18Speaker 7: getting older, but again you still have Hagel. That's only
- 42:22Speaker 7: what twenty four, Cirelli's twenty five or twenty. They're still young.
- 42:27Speaker 7: Cooch is obviously thirty two, thirty three. Those guys are
- 42:30Speaker 7: getting older, pointers thirty, But that window is still open
- 42:33Speaker 7: for them to win. It's just adding those extra pieces
- 42:36Speaker 7: that they might need, maybe on the back end and
- 42:40Speaker 7: maybe up front, maybe another top six. I think their
- 42:42Speaker 7: bottom six are kind of filling in the place right now.
- 42:45Speaker 7: I think they had some good guys that played really
- 42:49Speaker 7: well this year, that Dominic James is going to be
- 42:51Speaker 7: hal of a player. Gauge kind of took another step
- 42:54Speaker 7: this year. So it's just a matter of time of
- 42:57Speaker 7: what they're looking for and what they want, and maybe
- 43:00Speaker 7: I kind of see a blockbuster trade coming. If it's
- 43:05Speaker 7: not this year, it's next year. There's been some rumblings.
- 43:09Speaker 2: Don't you start rumors now, let you get into.
- 43:12Speaker 5: The fucking patty. What do you got for us?
- 43:16Speaker 2: Don't you Hey, don't tickle my taint like that, and.
- 43:22Speaker 7: Come on now, you know where I'm going with this JD.
- 43:26Speaker 7: I do I think I did, you do too, Tom,
- 43:31Speaker 7: And I just think there's a someone that maybe wants
- 43:35Speaker 7: to go there. I don't know, but I'm not gonna say.
- 43:40Speaker 2: It's such a fucking oh my god.
- 43:45Speaker 1: You were recently inducting the Saint Louis Sports Hall of Fame,
- 43:48Speaker 1: so I want to know all time Saint Louis sports
- 43:51Speaker 1: Mount Rushmore on the top.
- 43:53Speaker 5: Four go.
- 43:55Speaker 7: Of mine? Yeah, Ozzie Smith.
- 43:57Speaker 3: No, fucking Nate Thompson's top four years.
- 44:03Speaker 7: Like, well, we have to go with the Cardinals. No.
- 44:07Speaker 4: I was gonna say probably two Cardinals, two Blues. But
- 44:09Speaker 4: going it's your list, stint leuis okay, well put Smith in.
- 44:13Speaker 7: Yeah you have to go Ozzie Smith, but he wasn't
- 44:15Speaker 7: my air a little bit. But if my it's probably
- 44:17Speaker 7: poolholes and YACHTI and then for the Blues man, yeah,
- 44:26Speaker 7: you can go Brett Hall out of the list.
- 44:28Speaker 2: TV let the man fucking.
- 44:34Speaker 7: Blues. Probably it's either okay, I got a couple, but
- 44:37Speaker 7: my list might be different because when you have league
- 44:40Speaker 7: teams that they had, Brendan Shanahan might be up there.
- 44:44Speaker 7: Craig Janney, I love Craig Jenny as a player. I
- 44:46Speaker 7: don't know why back then, but if you're going, like
- 44:49Speaker 7: if you're just going back for like just pure Hall
- 44:53Speaker 7: of famers, Brett Hall and then probably Chris Pronger or Curris,
- 45:00Speaker 7: Joseph Curs. Joseph was great, Kujoe.
- 45:04Speaker 4: You get through the Saint Louis ram If you want
- 45:06Speaker 4: Kurt Warner.
- 45:06Speaker 7: Marshall, I was gonna say, yeah, I was gonna say
- 45:09Speaker 7: Kurt Warner or Marshall fall one of those two. The
- 45:12Speaker 7: greatest game on turf Orlando. Pace was really good.
- 45:17Speaker 2: This is the biggest Mount Rushmore I've ever been in
- 45:20Speaker 2: this thing.
- 45:21Speaker 7: Yeah, it's hard because I mean, I mean ship. You
- 45:25Speaker 7: could even put Wayne Gretzky in there.
- 45:26Speaker 2: He played for the Blues, you know, yeah you could.
- 45:29Speaker 7: It's like you on my Cannis. Yeah, there you go.
- 45:34Speaker 7: You're talking about I don't even put Ryan O'Reilly in
- 45:36Speaker 7: there because he won the con smythe brought the first
- 45:40Speaker 7: Stanley Cup back Petro.
- 45:42Speaker 3: You know these guys that factors the factors of Mount Rushmore,
- 45:47Speaker 3: of being able to be a man at night man
- 45:50Speaker 3: in the morning morning.
- 45:51Speaker 2: Yeah, that's true.
- 45:53Speaker 7: Okay, if I'm going with my list, I'll go, I'll
- 45:56Speaker 7: go YACHTI yeah, poolholes, Yes, Brett Hall.
- 46:02Speaker 5: One more.
- 46:04Speaker 7: Because I mcgannish for Chris Pronger, one of those two
- 46:08Speaker 7: out of you know, prongcause he won the heart.
- 46:12Speaker 3: And then uh, that's your there's no.
- 46:18Speaker 7: One more. I'm going one more because you got to
- 46:21Speaker 7: put one of those twenty nineteen players in there. Okay, Yeah,
- 46:25Speaker 7: and it's either Ryan or Riley or Petrolangel.
- 46:28Speaker 3: Well, who do you got Petro or Riot Oriley?
- 46:32Speaker 2: Yeah, you can't listen. Name your kid Jamison, Yeah, because
- 46:36Speaker 2: he loves Jo.
- 46:37Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly right after, Uh, I wanted I saw something
- 46:44Speaker 3: yesterday when did I saw the with the spit and
- 46:47Speaker 3: chicklets guys? The Sambager thing came out. That was how
- 46:51Speaker 3: was that experience with those guys?
- 46:56Speaker 7: Did you watch? I didn't have the tilt.
- 46:58Speaker 5: I saw clips of it.
- 46:59Speaker 3: I saw you gott you didn't have to you didn't
- 47:01Speaker 3: have the till I played golf with Patty and and
- 47:05Speaker 3: he's got one of the more more unique addresses to
- 47:09Speaker 3: the ball. I'd say he's a mix of He's got
- 47:12Speaker 3: a Jeff Bagwell stance, Kevin with a with a Kevin
- 47:17Speaker 3: Yukalis swing. You know your baseball. Oh, we had a
- 47:22Speaker 3: great we had it. I mean, how great was that course?
- 47:25Speaker 7: But it was awesome?
- 47:26Speaker 5: So he's tickling the rafters.
- 47:28Speaker 2: Oh no, it's the heavy tilt I had. I think
- 47:31Speaker 2: it was.
- 47:31Speaker 3: I think we're at We're at the bar, and I was,
- 47:34Speaker 3: I had, I had, I had the guys and stitches
- 47:36Speaker 3: doing the Patty swing. How was that Sandbager though? With
- 47:41Speaker 3: those those fucking wild animals.
- 47:44Speaker 7: It was funny. It was a great time. John Gurdon
- 47:47Speaker 7: is probably the best human being. All he knows is football.
- 47:51Speaker 7: He'll tell you any story. You gotta watch it. He
- 47:53Speaker 7: tells some of the best stories. He tells a Brett
- 47:54Speaker 7: Farr story. He tells a bunch of these stories. Honestly,
- 47:58Speaker 7: it was a John Gruden show, especially what it was.
- 48:02Speaker 7: It was just weird, just penciled in to play with him,
- 48:05Speaker 7: and uh it was great. Uh wit hold out from
- 48:10Speaker 7: one hundred and seventy two yards out, So that was
- 48:13Speaker 7: it was awesome. You gotta watch. It was a fun
- 48:16Speaker 7: They hold out and they they finally they took the range.
- 48:19Speaker 7: We had it the whole time. I couldn't miss a
- 48:21Speaker 7: putt making punch JD not like the other day. What, yeah,
- 48:27Speaker 7: you're seeing it?
- 48:28Speaker 2: Hey, I was seeing it.
- 48:30Speaker 7: But those guys are so much fun to be around. Obviously,
- 48:33Speaker 7: I know it's light's camera action. When it comes on,
- 48:36Speaker 7: you have to be a performer in that sense of
- 48:39Speaker 7: the side of it. But they're great guys off the camera.
- 48:42Speaker 7: I didn't realize how funny the NS was. You know,
- 48:44Speaker 7: I've talked to the ends, but Buck is he a
- 48:47Speaker 7: funny fucker.
- 48:49Speaker 2: Sh talk, just talks, always witty, so.
- 48:53Speaker 7: Many comments, and then you have Bis and then which
- 48:56Speaker 7: funnier as hell too. Like it's just the Boston you know,
- 49:00Speaker 7: like you said, they're so witty. But John Gruden was
- 49:03Speaker 7: the man the show. That guy was awesome, unbelievable just football.
- 49:09Speaker 7: I don't think he knows anything besides football.
- 49:12Speaker 3: He makes everything about football, right, Like yeah, yeah, well.
- 49:17Speaker 2: It's like.
- 49:22Speaker 7: I gotta got. I got a lot of good texts
- 49:24Speaker 7: from it. People loved it. They said it was hilarious.
- 49:28Speaker 7: You know, it was good stuff. We got to play
- 49:31Speaker 7: uh Copperhead, so it was the Vast Bar was playing
- 49:35Speaker 7: the following weekend, so that was fun to get to
- 49:37Speaker 7: see the tournament and tournament course, so it was great.
- 49:41Speaker 7: You know, those guys are great, always fun to be around.
- 49:44Speaker 7: Those guys, and uh, it's hilarious. Is you got to
- 49:48Speaker 7: tune in to tune in anytime? Pat Maroon's on the
- 49:53Speaker 7: doll got a tool in great stuff on NHL Network.
- 49:55Speaker 7: Obviously great stuff with us, buddy, take it home the
- 49:57Speaker 7: rest of the way.
- 49:58Speaker 2: It's been fun.
- 49:59Speaker 7: Yeah, I got another production meeting at the hop on here, so.
- 50:03Speaker 5: Listen to.
- 50:06Speaker 7: We're hanging Thanks boys, I appreciate it all right.
- 50:16Speaker 1: Not on six o GD wants a Masters of the
- 50:19Speaker 1: Universe Reviewalle. We'll get to he Man another time, perhaps
- 50:21Speaker 1: right now. The he Man of the day is Peter
- 50:23Speaker 1: Laviolette in LA new bench boss, his seventh head coaching gig.
- 50:27Speaker 4: He's had plenty of success. Nate won the Cup with
- 50:29Speaker 4: Carolina No.
- 50:29Speaker 1: Six, took the Flyers and Predators the finals to the Rangers,
- 50:32Speaker 1: the President's Trophy and Conference finals.
- 50:34Speaker 2: Just two years ago.
- 50:35Speaker 1: It seems like LA leads a lot more than a
- 50:37Speaker 1: new coach like Lobby's gonna get them there to the
- 50:39Speaker 1: Promised Land. But overall, Lobby the Hazer reputation is being
- 50:42Speaker 1: player friendly, offensive minded.
- 50:44Speaker 4: How do you like to fit with LA?
- 50:46Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean I'm not. I guess I'm partial to it.
- 50:50Speaker 6: To me, it seems like LA is thinking, all right,
- 50:52Speaker 6: well they're still trying to win. Now if you're hiring
- 50:54Speaker 6: a guy like Peter Laviolette, because generally he's a guy
- 50:58Speaker 6: that you know, he's his shelf life is two to
- 51:01Speaker 6: three years, and I wonder for like where what's what
- 51:05Speaker 6: are their plans?
- 51:06Speaker 5: You know?
- 51:06Speaker 6: I mean they have they have Ken Holland's got a
- 51:08Speaker 6: lot of work to do, especially in the center ice position.
- 51:12Speaker 6: They have no Andre copatar And and you know he
- 51:15Speaker 6: lobby Let's a proven coach he is, but just I
- 51:18Speaker 6: don't know what the plan is moving forward j D
- 51:21Speaker 6: for the like Kings, because.
- 51:23Speaker 5: They have a lot of a lot of roster moves they.
- 51:25Speaker 6: Have to make and we'll see how that pans out
- 51:28Speaker 6: for him.
- 51:30Speaker 3: Yeah, it's another one. Yeah, I think Lavvy to your
- 51:35Speaker 3: point you said it, and it's really just he's get
- 51:39Speaker 3: you to the get you to the playoffs. He might
- 51:42Speaker 3: get you to the Cup final. He's quick, but it
- 51:45Speaker 3: usually wears out after a couple of years. So he's
- 51:47Speaker 3: I've I've heard I've heard good things in terms of
- 51:50Speaker 3: like he's a very positive guy, and he's got some
- 51:54Speaker 3: great speeches and he's rousing speeches and nice. He's always
- 51:58Speaker 3: got something new, a little bit like Marty san Luis.
- 52:01Speaker 3: But after a while it just gets kind of like whatever.
- 52:05Speaker 4: So here's the big question.
- 52:07Speaker 1: Tell us one out there, the friend of your breakout
- 52:09Speaker 1: season New York was under lobby Lette. Can you do
- 52:11Speaker 1: this with your boy Quittin byfield number Qubah.
- 52:15Speaker 3: QB needs to have one needs to figure it out
- 52:17Speaker 3: big time because I mean, but like and is gone now,
- 52:24Speaker 3: doubts is soon to be gone.
- 52:26Speaker 2: Hey, what do you got? What do you got?
- 52:29Speaker 5: Like?
- 52:29Speaker 3: QB's got to be that guy. But listen, they got
- 52:32Speaker 3: to make a splash. I'm thinking more of an Austin
- 52:35Speaker 3: Matthews Brady Chuck. Now that all these USA guys are
- 52:38Speaker 3: just deciding to say we're not playing and trade us.
- 52:42Speaker 3: And they're all Denny Jacques from slap Shot. Trade me,
- 52:45Speaker 3: tell my agent call Detroit, trade hang out, fucking now
- 52:49Speaker 3: hang oh fucking it's crazy. They shouldn't ever let these
- 52:57Speaker 3: guys go to the Olympics.
- 52:58Speaker 6: Oh, maybe Larkin extends his teams to LA too, because
- 53:02Speaker 6: that would be a good fit for him as well.
- 53:03Speaker 2: Is there too, fucking lark In eight point seven for five?
- 53:07Speaker 4: Yeah, get me out of Michigan.
- 53:09Speaker 1: Away from Hockey NBA. Well of the great games ever,
- 53:12Speaker 1: you'll see the Spurs.
- 53:14Speaker 2: They win the.
- 53:15Speaker 1: Exciting game Monday night against the next at Madison Square Garden.
- 53:17Speaker 1: But just as big as the game, the endless list
- 53:19Speaker 1: of celebrities and attendants, everyone from Donald Trump, Larry David,
- 53:22Speaker 1: Chris Rockter Teeter, DJ Collin, John McEnroe, Robin.
- 53:26Speaker 2: Manague name stuckling at the next team.
- 53:28Speaker 1: Right, So it was it was obviously Trump's fault that
- 53:30Speaker 1: they lost in hand security, no watch party. Then last
- 53:32Speaker 1: night's game. I got to mid tam Manhattan. My buddy
- 53:34Speaker 1: Scott Rogowski, formerly of HQ Trivia.
- 53:36Speaker 4: We're at Carnegie Deli fiftieth and eighth watching the game.
- 53:39Speaker 2: Did you go Carnegie Deli?
- 53:41Speaker 4: Carnegie Deli?
- 53:41Speaker 2: It was pretty good.
- 53:42Speaker 4: You were in fifty eighth and eight, fiftieth and eighth.
- 53:45Speaker 5: Yeah, fiftieth and eighth.
- 53:46Speaker 2: Sorry, sorry, great, right in.
- 53:47Speaker 4: The theater district.
- 53:48Speaker 1: Actually quite frankly, go catch death of a salesman, Go
- 53:50Speaker 1: watch the next games.
- 53:51Speaker 5: Great.
- 53:51Speaker 1: So we're hanging out, having a good time, and you know,
- 53:54Speaker 1: obviously the nickser just dropping a lead balloon. Horrible first out.
- 53:56Speaker 1: He said, let's just go see some of the debauchery.
- 53:58Speaker 1: So we walked in as far as you can to
- 54:00Speaker 1: thirty six. The gardens at thirty third. Now it's all
- 54:02Speaker 1: sectioned off. But just so many co ops and so
- 54:05Speaker 1: much weed like that. That was that was my big takeaway,
- 54:07Speaker 1: like just it's just a preponderance.
- 54:08Speaker 2: Of weed and the like. If you just even pretended to.
- 54:10Speaker 1: Joke to a cop, like just a quick, like you're
- 54:12Speaker 1: getting tasered. And one guy saw he's trying to fight
- 54:15Speaker 1: with fifteen cops. He was trying to get through because
- 54:18Speaker 1: he wanted to get to the train, and the cops
- 54:21Speaker 1: should explain to him like, sir, this is all sectioned uf.
- 54:23Speaker 1: You have to walk down to Let's say it was
- 54:25Speaker 1: thirty seventh andever ninth, you have to walk down there.
- 54:27Speaker 4: He's like, no, I gotta catch this trade.
- 54:29Speaker 5: You gotta let me through.
- 54:30Speaker 1: I'm like, this guy's gonna get a billy club to
- 54:32Speaker 1: the heads.
- 54:33Speaker 4: Trying to get to Brooklyn on the fire trade.
- 54:35Speaker 5: It was.
- 54:36Speaker 2: That was one of the funnier bobs of the night.
- 54:37Speaker 1: Anyways, the danger of leaving a game prematurely. My buddy
- 54:41Speaker 1: Rags hops in the train to go to Brooklyn. It's
- 54:43Speaker 1: ninety seventy five for three my card. It's been fun.
- 54:45Speaker 1: And as I'm walking back to Macarth, thank godh and
- 54:47Speaker 1: Buddy's text me. He goes say it's within none and
- 54:49Speaker 1: like it is. So I hop into a Celtic pub
- 54:51Speaker 1: on forty ninth. They're normally yeah, they're normally charged. You
- 54:54Speaker 1: had cover to walk in, but he was go ahead.
- 54:55Speaker 1: I'm like, thanks, And I watched one of the wildest
- 54:57Speaker 1: NBA games you'll ever see. Tall you're a Knicks fan,
- 55:00Speaker 1: og nanobe a tip to remember it's this very tok
- 55:03Speaker 1: radio question. But did the Knicks in the game or
- 55:04Speaker 1: did the Spurs lose the game? I think the Spurs
- 55:06Speaker 1: lost the game? How do you choke away a twenty
- 55:08Speaker 1: nine point lead? Absolutely embarrassing for wembyan company and listening
- 55:11Speaker 1: on NBA right on the way home, just eviscerating Deer
- 55:14Speaker 1: and Fox White, oh dear and leaving og NLB wide
- 55:18Speaker 1: open unbelievable.
- 55:20Speaker 8: Or has Charles Barkley called him DeAndre Fox But good old,
- 55:24Speaker 8: good old Charles. I mean, the Spurs definitely blew and
- 55:27Speaker 8: we we hosted about six kids for end of school
- 55:31Speaker 8: while the game was going on. So I'm watching Lord
- 55:34Speaker 8: of the Flies in real time sulking. Following the score.
- 55:37Speaker 8: We finally kick all these kids out of our house,
- 55:40Speaker 8: and I see it's down to five. So I immediately
- 55:43Speaker 8: put on the game and just start startling my wife
- 55:46Speaker 8: as these this og tip in goes in. But yeah,
- 55:51Speaker 8: I mean game for the ages. As I said, it's
- 55:53Speaker 8: great to have a you know, a long time hardcore
- 55:57Speaker 8: Knicks fan like Taylor Swift in the building.
- 55:59Speaker 2: You know, that always helps to get the g I saw.
- 56:01Speaker 3: I saw people say that, but I saw pictures tell
- 56:04Speaker 3: of her like through the years that she's the Knicks games.
- 56:08Speaker 8: Like yeah, if I'm a New York back, you know, yeah,
- 56:12Speaker 8: like I get I get salty.
- 56:16Speaker 2: I did the same thing as you.
- 56:17Speaker 3: If I see her anywhere, I'm like, oh yeah, like
- 56:19Speaker 3: just just beat it. But I actually looked up. I
- 56:23Speaker 3: was like, there's no way this she's a Knicks fan.
- 56:25Speaker 2: And she is. She's been, you know, around forever.
- 56:28Speaker 1: But the O shot cut to a reaction of Jerry Seinfeld,
- 56:30Speaker 1: like right away he's saying, what what's the deal with that?
- 56:33Speaker 4: How do you know?
- 56:34Speaker 5: What?
- 56:34Speaker 2: Open?
- 56:34Speaker 4: Like courtsid fantastic as well.
- 56:37Speaker 2: I know, last thing.
- 56:38Speaker 4: Here in Chelan script and Handoudt Flowers there.
- 56:40Speaker 1: Gabriel Landiskot Calrad Avalanche added some impressive hardware this week,
- 56:43Speaker 1: winning the Bill Masterton Trophy for perseverance, sportsmanship and Dedication

- 56:52Speaker 1: couple of well earned awards her A Gabe Obviously, great
- 56:55Speaker 1: stuff she did for a player who's been trigging for
- 56:56Speaker 1: the Avalanche for so many years.
- 56:58Speaker 4: Heart and soul kind of guy.
- 56:59Speaker 3: Yeah, he's been great, amazing story, incredible stuff is is Uh,
- 57:04Speaker 3: his documentary is great.
- 57:05Speaker 2: That's all I have. Go ahead, Landa Scott back to you, Nate.
- 57:09Speaker 6: No, I think that we're starting to see even too.
- 57:13Speaker 6: I think with with how well he played this season
- 57:15Speaker 6: and playoffs, like you almost back to you could say,
- 57:19Speaker 6: you know, landis God before you know the long layoff.
