- 0:11Hello friends, it's Sean here. It is a Friday.
- 0:16It is the 14th of February, which means it's Valentine's
- 0:21Day. Happy Valentine's Day to all of
- 0:23those of you who are going to celebrate this for someone else.
- 0:26And if you had completely forgotten, you're welcome.
- 0:30And if if you do not have a Valentine to celebrate with
- 0:34today, well, I hope today is filled with good things for you
- 0:37to enjoy as well, irrespective of your Valentine relational
- 0:42status and all of that down. We are going to set ourselves
- 0:48down before, well before God's version of Yoda, before this
- 0:54great teacher who is going to sprout words of wisdom to us.
- 0:57And we are not used to in the modern world, coming before
- 1:00wisdom, literature and hearing truth spoken to us, hearing good
- 1:04advice spoken to us. We have got this, this philtre,
- 1:08this, this cynicism, almost of everything that we listen to
- 1:12that we think, yeah. What was the author's intention
- 1:15here? Yeah.
- 1:15What are they trying to get out of this?
- 1:17But here we come, before this ancient literature written so
- 1:22long ago, based on the observations and the musing of
- 1:27an incredibly wise soul, captured and put together in our
- 1:33inspired Word of God, so that we can hear this wisdom from God to
- 1:38shape us today. How cool is that, friends?
- 1:42So we have got another six proverbs that we are going to
- 1:45read today. As we dive back into Proverbs
- 1:4810, reading verses 7:00 to 12:00,
- 2:01we have happy memories of the godly.
- 2:04But the name of a wicked person rots away.
- 2:10The wise are glad to be instructed, but babbling fools
- 2:14fall flat on their faces. People with integrity walk
- 2:21safely, but those who follow crooked paths will be exposed.
- 2:28People who wink at wrong cause trouble, but a bold reproof
- 2:34promotes peace. The words of the godly are a
- 2:39life giving fountain. The words of the wicked conceal
- 2:44violent intentions. Hatred stirs up quarrels, but
- 2:51love makes up for all offences. Oh Jesus, there is more wisdom
- 3:04in these six proverbs than we possibly have time to think
- 3:08through right now or unpack. But Lord, we just hear your
- 3:14desire for us to be people of righteousness, people of
- 3:19integrity. Lord, help us have the humility
- 3:24when people give us feedback or good advice to hear that and to
- 3:29heed that. Lord, soften our egos so that
- 3:34when others have some genuine words of wisdom to share, we can
- 3:37hear them and we can benefit from them.
- 3:42But Lord, more than all the rest of it, I pray that you give us
- 3:46your love. Your love, which, as the wise
- 3:51teacher says, makes up for all offences.
- 3:55Our Lord, that we could walk around our lives filled with
- 3:59your love, sharing your love. Where there is the potential for
- 4:03conflict and quarrels, it would be your love that makes the
- 4:08difference and brings peace and kindness and tolerance.
- 4:16So we commit ourselves to being your ambassadors and living your
- 4:20way. Shape us with your wisdom.
- 4:23Lead us ever closer to you, that the fruits of your Spirit may
- 4:28just blossom up inside us. And we pray all of this in your
- 4:33loving name, Jesus, Amen.
