- 0:37Kind of four Finger Discount dude. Welcome to fourth Finger Discount. This week
- 0:59we hit a review episode jab F zero two. It is the whore Hoard
- 1:03Couple. I am dan though, and I am guying. Yes, And
- 1:04individually we're just a couple of twigs, but you put us together and we're
- 1:10we're one strong bundle of sticks. Yes. I was shocked when I heard
- 1:15this, But it's a word. It's a word. I think. I
- 1:17think our pals Trey and Matt did a whole episode about this particular word.
- 1:23Yeah, yes, how the meaning of particular terms changes over time, but
- 1:30yeah, this was an unexpected gig. It was. Indeed, there's a
- 1:32couple of unexpected lines in this episode where I was like, wow, we
- 1:34how do you think that one's past the censor? But I guess they can
- 1:37get away with stuff because they can't get any notes from that from the exacts.
- 1:40That is true. And also this was this particular episode was the work
- 1:44of Dando's new bff and dining buddy, Matt Selman. Yes, and he
- 1:51loves to get things past the senses and he did pretty well this time around.
- 1:55Yeah. So the whore Hoard couple an episode that I really enjoyed.
- 1:57Again, you looked at me like you don't enjoy it? As I often
- 2:05say, it's not that I didn't like it, m No, there,
- 2:08I would think there were aspects of it that I enjoyed more than other parts,
- 2:12and there were some that felt like, ah, this bit's a bit
- 2:14rickety, but we'll get to that as we as we go along, as
- 2:17we break it all down. But generally, I mean, I think one
- 2:22of the issues that I might be having as we enter, you know,
- 2:24season eighteen, as we entered this sort of mid stage is like, but
- 2:30didn't you already do something like this? You're gott to trade your brain not
- 2:32to do that. I know you have to. When it shows that it's
- 2:35eighteen season, you've got to just you gotta get I did it last week
- 2:38we were talking about the ice cream margin. But it's like it's different when
- 2:42it's a Homer and Marge argum because we've done it so many times. But
- 2:46when it's like, you know, once or twice in the past that Nelson
- 2:50had Bart, it's like, you can let us see. I think you
- 2:52just have to start letting it slide. It is. And when you put
- 2:54it that way as well, I mean if you're talking about younger characters as
- 2:58well. I mean, you know, the dynamics of the playground are always
- 3:01sort of shifting and evolving and things like that, so it would make sense
- 3:06that maybe you would go back around to something else as well. I don't
- 3:08know the whole well, what do you think you'd seen before, the whole
- 3:14misunderstood Nelson thing. I mean, I think it's it's fertile territory. It's
- 3:19something you can keep going back to occasionally. But yeah, I think the
- 3:23relationship between Bart and Nelson just being complicated or you know, throwing sort of
- 3:30unexpected friendship and I don't know, people being a bit clinging all that stuff
- 3:35into the mix. It just felt a little haven't I seen this before?
- 3:38And maybe in a way that sort of resonated with me a bit more.
- 3:42That's not to say that there wasn't stuff in this episode that didn't appeal to
- 3:46me, but yeah, it just felt kind of like, I feel like
- 3:50you've sort of done this and maybe better. But having said that, a
- 3:54fair bit to enjoy. I think we've entered the ear here, and maybe
- 3:59it's just season eighteen, but it's the Each episode's in its own vacuum.
- 4:02It episode up more to me though than when they went to the mall and
- 4:05it was run down and then we returned the next week and the mall thriving
- 4:09again. I was like, how do you have that difference? Yeah,
- 4:13that's something that feels like a legitimate sort of oversight, like almost like this,
- 4:16you know, three or four different writing crews working on the on the
- 4:20on the show, and like, wait a minute, you guys aren't communicating.
- 4:25You know, the mall was like this, and now it's like this
- 4:28and in the space of two episodes, you can't really have that. No,
- 4:31we're going to notice and you know, we're probably gonna take issue with
- 4:35it. Yeah, so what we do. I can see how it would
- 4:40be a negative and seen as negative as a result of doing this, but
- 4:42it's just like, I don't know. I'm in that mentality now where I'm
- 4:45just like, we have to stop going we've seen this before, because we
- 4:46start doing it, we'll say every single week, Okay, yes, all
- 4:49right, well I'm not going to pretty but I had my notes here.
- 4:54We've had this story before. However, it's probably gonna happen time and time
- 4:57again. We need to not think this well and more. Okay, this
- 5:00is Dando giving you more bang for your buck because I'm kind of like,
- 5:02I've seen this before, and Dan's like, we've seen this before, but
- 5:06he's a yes and kind of guy. I'm a no butt kind of fellow.
- 5:11But I liked the different twist on this one here where Bart was like
- 5:14getting the perks of being Nelson's friend in this episode, he could we have
- 5:16never really had that aspect before. That's true, and I almost wish they
- 5:21had because it seemed to me that the only way they really covered that.
- 5:27I mean, they did it in a few other little ways, but the
- 5:29main way they did it was through that homage to to Goodfellas, where it
- 5:33was good Fellaws the walk you walk in the back entrance, and you know,
- 5:36everyone sort of glad handing you, and ye, you're get in the
- 5:39VIP treatment even though you're not sort of being a vip through the front door.
- 5:43It's like, well, everybody loves you, but we're still going to
- 5:45sneak you in the back door. I thought that was kind of fun in
- 5:47and of itself and me and you know, good Fellas is a classic,
- 5:50and anytime you can pay tribute to a classic, why not do so.
- 5:53But it didn't. It seemed like the rest of the episode didn't show the
- 5:59benefit for Bart of sort of riding on Nelson's bully coattails. Maybe maybe I
- 6:04wasn't watching closely enough. I mean, I'm sure they did have bits like
- 6:10that, but it just kind of felt like that was the main way we're
- 6:12illustrating, and he's not getting beaten up by the bullies anymore that I suppose
- 6:15that was the other one. Yeah, yeah, I mean there were really
- 6:17two scenes. To my mind, yea, and it didn't quite feel like
- 6:23enough. I mean, it would have been maybe you could have had him
- 6:27choosing Nelson over Millhouse. That would have been a fun sort of like story
- 6:29progression there, because he know he's Nelson by going and playing with Millhouse because
- 6:33eggs of mine. But it's like him having to choose over his long lifelong
- 6:36best friend to hang out with Nelson because of the perks he's getting by being
- 6:40friends with Nelson. Probably would have been a more interesting story. It would
- 6:43have been good if he was trying to play both sides of the fans more.
- 6:46Yeah, And it didn't feel like they explored that just enough. I
- 6:48mean, and because I mean that feels like a very real thing that could
- 6:51happen as well. I mean, if you've got two friends who were very,
- 6:57very different, and you know they wouldn't be friends, but you enjoy
- 7:00spending time with both of them, but you you know you clearly couldn't be
- 7:02a trio. Yeah, I've lived. I've had that. Yeah, Oh
- 7:06yeah, I think I think so many people have had that. I'm pretty
- 7:10sure I've said so many times on the show about my I threw a fortieth
- 7:14birthday party. Everyone was separated, weren't there and yeah, and I was
- 7:16like, everybody loves guys, so all these people are going to love each
- 7:20other. It's like, no, there were just little clusters all over the
- 7:24places, like none of the people who I like like each other. It
- 7:28wasn't that, but it was more like, oh, this isn't the you
- 7:31know, the great coming together. I thought it was, yeah, exactly,
- 7:33And I was sort of like running between the three groups all night and
- 7:35sort of like code switching every time. Hey, guys having a great time
- 7:41over here having fun. I really enjoyed the be pot of this. I
- 7:46think because this is obviously touching on Harry Potter. You mentioned on last week's
- 7:49show Homer is skipping your head because he's so enthralled. He's a broken,
- 7:53lonely adult reading this book and and Lisa's one to skip ahead, but he
- 7:58can't have himself. He has to do it. This now is more relatable
- 8:01in the sense of binge watching shows. And don't lie. You've been binge
- 8:05watching a show with Louise and one point you're going probably watching an episod of
- 8:09two and just not tell her. Right, I've done it with Nikola.
- 8:11The problem is when you do that, you have to then rewatch it if
- 8:15you want to sell the bit true, because you can't then go is it,
- 8:18admit to it, or sit through it again. Something that works out
- 8:22pretty well for Lu and myself is that our tastes are complimentary in some ways
- 8:26but also different than others. So, I mean, I've got some shows
- 8:30where it's like, I know, Lo's not going to be into this.
- 8:35I was at my place the other night and she was texting what she was
- 8:39watching. The kids are watching one of those medical like Chicago Meat or something,
- 8:43yeah, and I said, I'm watching it. I'm watching a Netflix
- 8:48documentary about Korean film nerds because I'm me. She sent back to laughing emotion.
- 8:54So I was like, yeah, I wouldn't subject you to this,
- 8:56you know. But she's like she's like really into Yellowstone and I've never really
- 9:01sort of gotten into it and she just watches it by herself. Yeah.
- 9:03Yeah, I mean, I think we've all got those shows. But I
- 9:07sometimes I see a show right and I'm like, oh, that's the show
- 9:09Nicola I would like to watch, right, And then I'll walk in and
- 9:13it's like Nicholas, the camp continue watching, Like bitch, you started watching
- 9:16I had the force that it go you would like this. She's like,
- 9:20well, you didn't tell me. You should have known. I was like,
- 9:30yeah, I mean, what's funny is I I don't know if I'm
- 9:35trying to get busted by Amazon for this, but I mean, I I
- 9:39signed into my Amazon Prime account over at lose Place, but it's also on
- 9:41my place. But so Luke can see what I'm watching on Amazon to be
- 9:46careful. Well, I mean, I wasn't watching anything like bad but Naughty
- 9:52unless you can't Morebus because it's like, I'm not in the mood to think
- 9:58I just want shapes and colors. Yeah, Mobius, Luis, I can't
- 10:03be with the man he watched Morebus. So Lukens, you know next time
- 10:07she goes on the Primes like Morbius on like oh man, oh boy,
- 10:13just in the background while I was doing the folding laundry did it? At
- 10:16first? As you have to think, how does she know? No?
- 10:20I know I knew because her place when we're looking for something on Primes,
- 10:24like hey, no, that's the ship I was watching. Have we to
- 10:30talking about that? I was just bitch watching this. Yeah, it is
- 10:33basically binge reading. It's binge watching. Yeah, yeah, absolutely, And
- 10:35I just thought Homer was so sweet throughout all this. You know, he
- 10:39just the way he reacts is how most of us would react with We're just
- 10:41like just the chapter, you know, just the chapter. What the heart
- 10:46harm could it be? But then at the end, as we discussed sort
- 10:48of like last week, we'll expand more here, he makes the fake ending
- 10:52for Lisa because he doesn't want to ruin her child would be the end of
- 10:56my childhood. I thought it was just a really sweet moment. And then
- 10:58to back it up with Lisa reading real one going dance version was better?
- 11:01Yeah, no, sweet, right, it really was. Yeah, I
- 11:05mean it was a very very sweet, very paternal gesture on the part of
- 11:07Home. I mean, I'm a I'm a big believer in that fiction sort
- 11:13of prepares you for the real world and a lot of wise oh yeah,
- 11:16a lot of things that we that we do in life preparations for later on
- 11:20in life. Hey, kid, do you like mafussa well? Even having
- 11:24a pet, yeah, you know, I mean it's a great way to
- 11:28learn about responsibilit I mean, of course, you know, my pet is
- 11:31a wonderful fuzzy buddy to unless got a goldfish. It's a what's the pretty
- 11:35buddy? Yes, indeed, old real taate, but yeah, it's a
- 11:41great way to learn about responsibility and also, sadly a great way to learn
- 11:46about, you know, our lifespans a kind of fine. Not everyone's going
- 11:50to be here forever. Can you remember the first not everyone family member that
- 11:54you remember losing? For me, it was my grandfather, my mum's dad,
- 11:58so that and that was sort of like the first somebody experienced death that
- 12:01would impact me. I think it was my mother's grandfather as well, and
- 12:05I was not his grandfather, father or grandfather, oh sorry, my mother's
- 12:09father. My mother's father, my grandfather, who I didn't really know all
- 12:13that well. I mean, I think he was pretty deep into dementia by
- 12:18the well, so whenever I would see him would basically just be the old
- 12:22dude sitting in the chair when we would go and visit with him. My
- 12:26grandpa was just unexpected. Yeah, yeah, yeah, And I mean to
- 12:31all by all accounts, it was a wonderful fellow, a very sweet guy.
- 12:35But I mean I didn't really know him at all, but I remember
- 12:37how distraught my mom was in the morning. That's what you remember isn't it.
- 12:41I remember my mom coming home deshort, that's what I remember. Yeah,
- 12:43yeah, I mean I remember waking up one morning and my mum had
- 12:48clearly got the news, and my dad said to me go down and say
- 12:54to your mum that you're sorry to hear about papa. We call papa.
- 12:58So, yeah, Papa Rossa was Yeah, that's one because that was mum's
- 13:05maiden name. And I remember going down and she was just sitting at her
- 13:09you know, he's sitting in her bedroom and just crying. I know this
- 13:11was the first time I probably seen my mum cry. Yeah, And I
- 13:13said, I'm sorry about that. But even though I didn't really help you.
- 13:16I would have been about six or seven. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 13:20but I remember that vividly. But yeah, I mean that's you've got
- 13:22to have those lessons and if you can sort of sugarcoat them, or you
- 13:26know, it's sort of cushion the blow a little by a bit by way
- 13:28of fiction or whatever, or I was about to say, even by being
- 13:33an animal. That's probably even more traumatic. But I thought, I thought,
- 13:37was that yeah, and Mohamma did here, No, no, there
- 13:41was it was a lovely gesture. Yeah, because you know, sometimes like
- 13:45they're feeling very strongly about this, let's let's ease the blow a little bit.
- 13:50Yeah. Yeah, because I thought it was going to be when he
- 13:52did it, I was like, we're going to get at least of being
- 13:54angry at homer story because he went ahead. And that's the thing. Yeah,
- 13:56I mean I was bracing myself again, talk about bracing herself. I
- 14:01was thinking, oh God, this is going to be fucked up, and
- 14:03you'll give some half fast kind of kind of apology at the end and everyone
- 14:09everything will go back to normal. No, he actually played it pretty well.
- 14:13Yeah, it was a plan. And why did not see this ending
- 14:15coming at all? Yeah? It was and it was appreciated by Lisa,
- 14:16you know. I mean she recognized as well that it's like he meant well
- 14:20and he actually did. Well, that's the cherry on the cake, just
- 14:22at Leasta acknowledging it. Yeah, that was good. That was good.
- 14:24Yeah, because she's old enough to she's smart enough to be able to handle
- 14:28it. But I hope, but to home, she still is a little
- 14:31girl very much. So yeah. Yeah, I mean we sort of talk
- 14:33a bit about can we get Lisa right? Yeah, And this felt like
- 14:39they did Lisa right in that she's smart and precocious, but also yeah,
- 14:43willing to and happy to be a child. You mentioned our boys training that
- 14:46before with the word but this episode. He was nominated for a Primetime Emmy
- 14:52Award in two thousand and seven for Outstanding Animated Program, but it lost to
- 14:56south Park. Oh like south Park? Going down to south Park? Check
- 15:01it out in all of your feeds, whether it be Spotify, Apple Podcasts,
- 15:05over listen to your podcast going down to south Park. Check it out.
- 15:07It's a hell of a good time, my favorite. All right,
- 15:11misnavous, what were your favorite moments from the hard Hord couple? Having said
- 15:13that, I don't have that many actually sort of highlights, I've got one
- 15:16here, but I'm like, I enjoyed a lot more than that. Yeah,
- 15:20I've got the better than walking in on both your parents instead of just
- 15:24one. I was like, holy moly, that's a really that's a pretty
- 15:28great game. That's either that's either the way having fun or Kirk being sad.
- 15:33It's Kirk cry winking. Yeah. I was like, after you,
- 15:39what does that reader choose your indventure? All right, well, what would
- 15:45be worse to work walking on? Oh? I think it's much worse walking
- 15:48on your dad wanking than your mum pleasuring yourself. Right, walking on your
- 15:52dad wanking? What is that? To quote the great tagline from Alien Versus
- 15:58Predator, whoever wins we lose? Have you ever walked in on just your
- 16:07parents? No? No, I think I think that the encounter that resulted
- 16:15in me might have been the last. No, I'm sure it wasn't.
- 16:19No, I never I never walked in. I think I like I when
- 16:25I was younger, I think I may have. I've never like discussed it
- 16:27with my parents. I feel like I may have, like about to walk
- 16:30in and heard something I was like, oh, just god the other direction.
- 16:33Now I feel these memory of like maybe that happening, But I'm like,
- 16:36I'd rather pretend it didn't happen, So I'm not going to try and
- 16:37deal further into that memory. That room sounds haunted. What are those girls
- 16:44getting up to in there? I did enjoy that moment. The other thing
- 16:47that I enjoyed, and I alluded to it in our previous episode before You're
- 16:52like my favorite moments for next week's episode of like how do we stop hit
- 16:56me? With the ban? Said? Well, talk about that episode when
- 17:00we get to that episode, so it's like this week's episode begins with and
- 17:04we talking about a fait moment for next week. First hope we don't,
- 17:08because I'm unclearly of a mind that time is not linear. But something I
- 17:14really enjoyed from this episode was Lisa eating the ice cream and discovery she found
- 17:19a major marshmallow vein. She was so excited for it, she was indeed,
- 17:22Now, let me talk about what I wanted to talk about the previous
- 17:26episode, which why don't we talk about next week's episode? How about we
- 17:30jump ahead? Inn I'm back when I was a little kid, say around
- 17:36ten years old. I believe the fine folks at Streets or maybe Peter's ice
- 17:41Cream, but Peter Street's the same thing. But do they become one eventually?
- 17:45Maybe I'm wrong Street, Peter, Streets, Streets, this Streets ice
- 17:51cream? And I think there's Peter's ice cream. Who does the puddle pops?
- 17:53That's Streets, right? I think? So? I think Streets is
- 17:56the one that's you know, streets ahead street speak, Yeah, Peter.
- 18:00What's what's Peter's ice cream? Which one that's Peter's Blue ribbon or Streets Blue
- 18:03ribbon, Peter Peter's even a thing does make it up? Samas sounds like
- 18:07a thing Pete's ice cream, and they's come up with Peter's Pete's ice cream.
- 18:15No, it is not Australia's favorite ice cream and a true Australian icon,
- 18:22but it's like that. So it's like that, it's more like tubs.
- 18:25That's not well that's what I'm talking Yeah, okay, yeah, well
- 18:26I'm actually talking about tubs. Yeah, so it's like Peter's ice cream is
- 18:30the tubs? Yeah, okay, Well this was this ice cream was called
- 18:32Sunday and it's was kind of a Neapol. It was like, you know,
- 18:37had Neapolitan's got the three stripes, right, Pete Peter's here go.
- 18:41They did drumsticks and Maxi bomboms. I knew it was Peter's. Yeah we
- 18:45go. Oh no, this was like Neapolitan, but all like it melted
- 18:48in the car, so all the colors were melted into one another. But
- 18:52it also had these Petit marshmallows in it, and I fucking loved it.
- 18:57But that's for like last week a memory of a food. But I would
- 19:04be you know, sort of going through it. But I would do that
- 19:07thing as you can taste it, right, Yeah, as Bart did in
- 19:10the previous episode where he's like, I only like the clown heads and the
- 19:11Krusty Cereal. I was like, I only like the marshmallows, And so
- 19:18I'd be going through it and like I'd be like like an archaeologist. I'd
- 19:22be like Alan Grant a Jurassic Park dusting off the little marshmallows are putting him
- 19:26in a bowl. So I've got like a tiny scoop of ice cream and
- 19:30a ship done, a marshmallow, a tub of ice cream. Yea,
- 19:33and everyone's in the Binigo came with marshmallowsad kid who had this kid who brought
- 19:40in All right, we did damn it New Year's Eve anyway. But yeah,
- 19:45that was Lisa's appreciation of just finding, Yeah, a nice vein of
- 19:52caramel or marshmallow or just that flavor in your otherwise perfectly fine but bland ice
- 19:57cream. Yeah, that's great. Next question, you there eating the beast.

- 21:15to part with your dollary dues and help support us here and keep this show
- 21:18in your ears every single week. I'm going to hit you with my first
- 21:21question that, mister Davis, if you don't mind, because I've only got
- 21:22one written here, so I have to make up a couple more whilst you're
- 21:25reading me in one of yours. My first question is what is Nelson's address?
- 21:27It's written on the invitation. Oh my god, I did not pay
- 21:30any attention to that as a free famery one. It was nineteen Fish Smell
- 21:33Drive. It sounds like another gig. That's kind of okay, let's go
- 21:40there. No Um Bart is doing a report on which River Bart is doing
- 21:47a report on Nile On the Nile. How did Nelson's mum get all the
- 21:52money for the party. Uh did she was an amusement park accident just to
- 21:57get hit in the head by something? Yeah, hit her head on a
- 22:00carnival ride. On a carnival ride. What is the name of the Munk's
- 22:06family cat? Oh, mister Mooch's or something. It's mister Mooch, all
- 22:11right. And my final question for you will be where did they go to
- 22:15fight Star Wars? In the finale of Homer's story, they go to Star
- 22:18Wars Star Wars to fight Star Wars. I have a question related the Dragon
- 22:26King's trundle bed is the witch installment in the Angelica Button series We'll want to
- 22:32see ninth and you would be correct in saying that, alright. One of
- 22:36my additional trivia questions was what is the name of the headmaster in the Angelica
- 22:40Button series? And then they say it like twenty times very stash, all
- 22:44right. The original air date of The Whoreharde Couple was December tenth, two
- 22:47thousand and six. It was written by Matt Salmon and directed by Chris Clements.
- 22:52The cash gag Noise on a chalk Gate cash gag was Homer or Shiman's
- 22:55Homer cuts a piece of paper into the shape of him, pulls it out
- 22:57to reveal the rest of the family holding hands and says, we who.
- 23:00So the episode kicks off with and we didn't touch on this aspect of the
- 23:03story, but we're gonna do it now, obviously because it's where the episode
- 23:04kicks off with Bart and Lisa wanting mom and dad in the morning. You
- 23:07know you're drinking coffee now it's warm pepsi and they walk in. It sounds
- 23:11like margin Homer are fighting, right, they've recorded this argument, but really
- 23:14that's one a chance of snuggle. And I'm like, we're hitting that era
- 23:18of our lives now where the kids are like at six o'clock we're getting out,
- 23:21we want breakfast, And I'm like, fuck, have you never heard
- 23:25of morning snuggles? Yeah, I'm just like, ah, like this morning,
- 23:27honestly, God, Like, the kids are at my parents' place.
- 23:30Nicholas sat him from work today show wasn't feeling well. I'm like, this
- 23:33is lovely because Ali usually like sneaks in the middle of the night. I'm
- 23:36just like, kid free bed, we're just hanging out, just relaxing,
- 23:40letting it all hang out. Yeah, just this is great. Do it
- 23:44with the door rope. But I just love the I'm not saying they did
- 23:47it with the door Roe. Oh, I thought you might have been here.
- 23:49But I just love the idea of you just love seeing margin Homer just
- 23:55having this relationship. You know, they fight so often in season eighteen,
- 23:57all these modern episodes, but it's nice when you see them just being nice
- 24:00to each other, yes, and going to great length to have the chance
- 24:03to snuggle. I just thought we might have to do this sometimes, recording
- 24:10that fake fight with a great idea. Now the kids won't bother us during
- 24:15I'm morning snuggle. Dear Lord, thank you for the physical intimacy we are
- 24:21about to enjoy. And it's always have fun watching God of making it must
- 24:29really kind of mess with people brought up in very religious households. It's like
- 24:33God is always watching when I'm rocking it? What about what about when I'm
- 24:37cranking? Yeah, it's seen as like is it a sin to do that?
- 24:42Apparently? I don't think the Catholics are with it too bad, but
- 24:48I'm a bad Catholic. They throw their clothes off and then knocks the tape
- 24:52and starts playing the candy fan music, and this is where they walk in
- 24:55and they see it. Well, yeah, it was some horse with no
- 24:57name, wasn't it? Yes, ye, county fair music, and I
- 25:02did. I've told you I went to a county fair in the in the
- 25:04US when we were over there recently. It was great. Was it America
- 25:08playing? No, it was actually Bob Marley's son, Damien. Oh wow,
- 25:12not Ziggy. No, he is a Ziggy. I'm pretty sure Siggy
- 25:15Marley is the one that's saying that Arthur theme song every day when you're walking
- 25:19down the street. Oh and that TV show Arthur. I thought you were
- 25:22talking about the movie Arthur. No, I know that's the kids show like
- 25:26Arthur's Seamers when you Caught between the Moon and New York City. Yeah,
- 25:29I know, yes, for that, which I mentioned in the Friends podcast
- 25:30one about Friends. Check it out you haven't checked out there ready? Once
- 25:33again a demonstration of the generation gap dividing dandel and Guy. Yeah, Arthur
- 25:37for all Uninited Kids was one of those belover shows that it's like when I
- 25:42was on, you loved it, but you never sort of went out of
- 25:45your way to watch it, but apparently went for like thirteen seasons or something
- 25:48else. Let me a look, have you ever seen this, Arthur kid,
- 25:52I'm aware of the show. By the way, for all your generation
- 25:53exit listeners, Arthur was, of course the movie starring Dudley Moore as the
- 25:57lovable drunken billion Yeah. Also remade a little later on with Russell brandt our
- 26:04first date Nichol and I was going to see the remake with Russell Brand.
- 26:07Oh my god, okod that's Arthur. Do you ever see that? I'm
- 26:10not seeing the show, but do you ever seen image? Yeah? Yeah,
- 26:11because there's a great no glasses on the Little Girl? Oh yeah,
- 26:18dj d W DW. Yeah. I don't know the show it on,
- 26:21but I just saw this great screencap woods. Oh yes, the library card
- 26:26on. I have a library hat. Now I know what true power is.
- 26:29So I can relate after a fantastic show. That's great theme music and
- 26:36Ziggy I believe Ziggy Marley was one of that saying theme song A right,
- 26:38I said, Damian Marley. It was actually Stephen Marley. Stephen Marley,
- 26:41Okay, isn't it? But the canfa was so good? I mean,
- 26:44and did you get to have a dog of some kind? I had a
- 26:48what were you call in Australia or dag would dog. I believe they call
- 26:51on a corn dog corn do in the I'll tell you what you have given
- 26:55me ship for not putting stuff on the patron page. There's a picture of
- 26:59me about to enjoy a corn dog. It's in my phone. I'm gonna
- 27:02put it on the patron page. It right now. I'm going to film
- 27:03you doing it. This is going to be our weekly work. We'll get
- 27:08a message. Here. We are guys reading his message instead of doing what
- 27:11you're supposed to do. So, guys going to put a picture. Now,
- 27:15hold up to the phone here, I'm filming this right for the patrons.
- 27:18You're on camera, Candid, how you doing all right? This might
- 27:22take it one. He's sitting there holding it about six feet from his eyes,
- 27:25doing that doing the classic one hand. Scribn't know exactly where it is.
- 27:30Okay, well you do this at some point. Just wave to the
- 27:32camera as pushed up. Okay, on drinking, you're cranking it. Oh,
- 27:38I mean look so happy here. This is great. Oh those were
- 27:41the days she's so pretty sorry about. Later, we've got time of the
- 27:49essence we're gonna get that's true. Yeah, I mean I rabbed it on
- 27:52last one, but all right, going, let's keep talking. Yes,
- 27:56let's keep talking. So yes, basically they've seen them doing it and it
- 28:00didn't go down too well. So then the bar is now horrified. At
- 28:03school, Trust me, Bart, it's better to walk in on both your
- 28:08parents than I just one of them. Hey, Digs, give me your
- 28:11lunch money, Well, what will I eat at midday? In primary school
- 28:18had the issue of like lunch money, haven't look we just true like.
- 28:22We occasionally would have Oh you do look happy? What is that? That's
- 28:25a corn dog? A corn dog? Wow? Oe? Yeah cool?
- 28:27Put up in the Patreon group. So when we were kids, the closest
- 28:32thing we had to this was getting a lunch order d lunch orders where you
- 28:34would write what you want on a paper bag, put it into like a
- 28:37washing basket, and they would take it to the canteen and the kid would
- 28:41return from lunch from the canteen with a washing basket full of like meals that
- 28:45sounds rad I never had that two party pies, one sausage row and one
- 28:51solace when dad would. I always brought my own life occasionally in my six
- 29:00million dollar man lunchbox that I have alluded to the past. But we also
- 29:04had the tuck drop at school where you would go usually at recess, and
- 29:08it was like, how about it doing it or a sassage reel or something,
- 29:11because you know, growing bodies need junk food. Yeah. Remember when
- 29:14they used to have lollies and shits at school? Those were the day.
- 29:17Oh my god. Yeah. It was when I was at high school that
- 29:19they banned like coke and things like that, and I was like, what
- 29:22are you doing? I certainly hope you. I just imagine you rock after
- 29:27the head, but do what the fuck is this? And then we just
- 29:32have to sneak down to the supermarket to get our chips and gravy in a
- 29:34bottle of coke, you know. Oh yeah, of course you had to.
- 29:37Jesus Christ look at it. One of the greatest inventions that I claim
- 29:42this at my school anyway, because no one has at my school has done
- 29:45it before. But you get a cheese and bacon roll, but then put
- 29:48a hash used to cut it in half and toast them. Right, Yeah,
- 29:51cheese bacon, but put a hash brown in it because they would butter
- 29:52the cheese and bacon rolls before they put into the toaster oven. But you
- 29:56buy a hash brown and put it in at the cheese and bacon roll squished
- 29:59together. Oh dear Delicious, tell you what I love. It was a
- 30:02good hash brown. Yeah, hash browns in cheese and bacon rolls even better.
- 30:06It's very impressive. Alright, let's continue. And there's that point where
- 30:10it became like an addiction because all the kids in the school are like eating
- 30:14hat that like buy actually cheese and bacon rolls. They'd sell out, Like
- 30:15you didn't get there early enough. They would sell out of cheese bacon rolls
- 30:18because kids would like go there and spend ten bucks and buy all the cheese
- 30:21and bacon rolls and hash browns and then sell them for more. But this
- 30:29is obviously Nelson's taken his money. And then he invites him to his party.
- 30:32Wants everyone to come to his party, so he's not a nice person,
- 30:34but he also wants them to come to his party. And the sort
- 30:37of the story of this episode is that Nelson just doesn't know how to socialize.
- 30:41I guess, yeah, he's got poor social sills or he is.
- 30:44He always goes to extreme again, where is his dad buying cigarettes and scratches?
- 30:49No, but he came back. Remember, yeah, I know and
- 30:52they just never it is never. It was never there again. I was
- 30:55like, that was such a great character plot point. They never And I
- 31:00brought this up with Matt. I was like, he's He's like, I
- 31:03don't know, Like, what do you mean, I don't know. Yeah,
- 31:07I think that was one of the best things you took away from your
- 31:10Your time with Matt's alone was like, continuity doesn't mean ship. It was
- 31:12just like, yeah, well he just did just did not care, done,
- 31:17done, onto the next one. He's like, newity there fuity.
- 31:21That explains a lot, man, but nobody wants to go he got He
- 31:25makes his look at his baseball cards are not any good? And you have
- 31:27no gift bags. I'm like that. He's like, Honestly, now that
- 31:30I've got kids, the one thing kids appreciate the most at a birthday part
- 31:33not the cake. It's the gift bags. So what's in the gift bags?
- 31:37Usually some lollies to take it. It's usually lollies. Look, you
- 31:40get like two dollars shop and buy like a bag of useless shit, you
- 31:42know, little army man on dinosaurs, little little things where you're full of
- 31:47like water and you push the buttons and the little rings go up. It's
- 31:48useless shit. But it's like a kid's birthday party is judged not by what
- 31:53happens during the party, it's by the gift bag. It's it's birthday,
- 31:56but you get the presents. Yes, exactly right. Everyone's like if you
- 32:00Ali went to a birthday party recently and they didn't have gift bags and the
- 32:02kids went home mad, Oh my god, I gonna write like the kids
- 32:09were like, what do you mean. I felt so bad for the parents,
- 32:13the parent and the kid because the kids like my mama's gift badge're like
- 32:15do you gift bags? And I was like, oh man, I was
- 32:17like, Alliot Beach shut up. But all the kids were like they were
- 32:20going to write, they were like, where are the gift bags? That
- 32:23kid is probably just you know, the pariah from now. Honestly, if
- 32:28you're ever going to live that down, if you're the parent of a kid
- 32:30in primary school, make sure you provide gift bags. Do not forget gift
- 32:32bags. Otherwise you know a lot of atomic wedgies in your child's future.
- 32:37One hundred percent. Yeah, And so they say this is where we get
- 32:39the the F word, which I feel bad and weird in't saying it,
- 32:45but this, this was said in two thousand and six. I don't think
- 32:47you would even make this joke anymore. Even though it's a real word,
- 32:51it's just an uncomfortable word because because of how that real word was taken and
- 32:55used in such a way. Yeah, that you just don't want to say
- 32:59it anymore. That's true. Yeah, I'll plan a clip because the Simpsons
- 33:01did us, because the Simpsons said it, not us. Wait, what
- 33:06if nobody goes he can't kill all of us? He's right, individually,
- 33:12we are weak like a single twist whatever bundle week form are mighty faggot.
- 33:19And there we go. So Martin said that word, and we shall move
- 33:21on. And in a nice bit of buck covering, they did provide the
- 33:24dictionary dictionary definition. Yeah on the screen. Yeah. I wonder if Matt
- 33:30someone wrote that and was like, take that piece. He kills it nice
- 33:36when schooled, well played, well played. But no, hell no,
- 33:40we won't show. They're all ranting and rave. They don't want to go
- 33:44will He hears it and says, hell no we won't. Mo gets fired.
- 33:45No pension, No, no pension at all. Lisa a Marche couple
- 33:49I can't imagine the Penson would have been very good anyway, really, probably
- 33:51not, but every little bit helps. Yep. Lisa and Marge, I
- 33:53can't believe that Bart is organized for everyone not to go to Nelson's party.
- 33:58They're like, how menant you think for Nelson? And it's almost like they're
- 34:00playing on the history of because recently had Marge with like looking after Nelson and
- 34:05Lisa once dated Nelson. It's like, if you're playing up that history,
- 34:07you can't really ignore it in continuity for this episode as well. Correct with
- 34:10Bart being friends of him and things like that. Yeah, because I think
- 34:14that's what I meant because in that episode where he lived with the Simpsons,
- 34:17he became friends with Bart when Bart sort of saw he saw him singing out
- 34:22the window and it's like, oh shit, this kid. You know.
- 34:23I think Bart was the one who went and found his dad. I believe
- 34:27so, because he was at the Fair County there and he saw him at
- 34:30the Freaks in the Freaks thing because he had all the peanuts. So I
- 34:35was like, yeah, how do we forget that? But they forgot his
- 34:38dad? His dad if a friend of the pod met Selman forgot about it,
- 34:44exactly. I think it's okay for us to forget about it. Do
- 34:45you think of marche smacking Bart? I was like, I was like,
- 34:49wow, wouldn't spoon beating? But I kind of laughed because I was like,
- 34:52wasn't a hit of just like wake up to year up? I'll do
- 34:58it. But you know, if no one else would jump off, if
- 35:00no one else jumped off the Empire State Building, would you not jump?
- 35:04Can't I get Don't you love it when they like your You're two thirds into
- 35:09one of those statements, You're like, this doesn't make sense, but I
- 35:13have to go all the way. If I say with a conviction, hopefully
- 35:15the underlying message will get through. Yeah. Yeah, Lisa says, you
- 35:19don't worry, the party will be fun and you're never gonna get a husband.
- 35:22Were being sarcastic. Okay, no husband, you're gonna get a husband.
- 35:25That's just like such a marge thing to say. But Homer is not
- 35:29driving Bart to the party, and he's giving Homer a backrob to try and
- 35:32encourage him not to take him there, and trying to get himself out of
- 35:35the party. But you still have to go whow We all have to do
- 35:39things we don't want to like have jobs and families and responsibilities and having to
- 35:45be mister funny all the time. You think I wouldn't rather be living nowd
- 35:50in the forest like some ancient pagan, just dancing around playing the pan flute.
- 35:54And here we are for something I've written Here is I wonder if a
- 36:00few midlife crises happening in the writer's room at this time. It feels like
- 36:02it, doesn't it it? Yeah, sure, and running for the Simpsons,
- 36:07But no one told me life was gonna be this way. But they're
- 36:10all by the way. Look, I'm sorry. I know you. You're
- 36:15doing a special episode with Nick. Yeah, it's already available, but look,
- 36:19I just personally want to give a shout because, yeah, it's going
- 36:21to mean so much. But uh, we should probably have mentioned this on
- 36:22last week's show. It's a little late now. I know. We did
- 36:29do some magic editing, but we basically were recording this back to back so
- 36:31that we explained it on last week's show that the patrons are our week ahead,
- 36:35but this is actually been recorded on the first of November. Look,
- 36:38it's a timeless message. Rest in peace, Matthew Perry. I dug you
- 36:42a whole lot. Man, I thought you were just fantastic. Yeah,
- 36:45I'm I'm sorry your demon's caught up to you, even though you didn't finish
- 36:47reading his book. I never started. You've got it as a gift or
- 36:52whatever, good for a free and you're like, I've got a chapter in.
- 36:53I was like, I know what it's going to be. I think
- 36:55I read a bit of it, and I'm that's one way of looking at
- 37:00the gesture that I made. That's what you said. The other is,
- 37:02I know you guys are into Friends, and particularly Nicola, I think we
- 37:07know. We thank you numerous times on the podcast for the book. We
- 37:09mentioned it during this special. Now I'm gonna start listening to that podcast.
- 37:14That was like we got the book. I remember I said to Nicola,
- 37:17yeah, I got to your present and then she was like oh. I
- 37:20was like immediately, I was like, the guilt guy did it. It
- 37:23wasn't me. He did everything. But yeah, Matthew Perry, as we
- 37:28said on that on the Friends podcast, was that revisiting the show for the
- 37:31podcast, it made me realize and appreciate just how much he brought to that
- 37:35show. Oh god, yeah, I mean, in all honesty, he
- 37:38was one of the best to ever do it in terms of sitcom acting,
- 37:43the sarcastic humor percent Oh yeah, yeah, But I mean the guy was
- 37:46like an absolute machine in terms of timing, in terms of inflection, in
- 37:51terms of physicality. That's what Nicola brought up to, just his mannerisms and
- 37:55the way he delivered everything. And yeah, and it's important, I asked
- 37:59Nicola, of all the six main cast I'll ask you now, who do
- 38:01you think has the longest legacy. Who do you think will live on forever?
- 38:06And will You can say Matthew Perry now because he won't age. Will
- 38:08always remember him as being young matt with fifty four year Matthew Pai. But
- 38:13like Chandler esque, right, he's not gonna become like are you compared to
- 38:15Paul McCartney. We remember John Lennon as being forty year old Johnlennon. He
- 38:17didn't become eighty year old John Lyn. Pau McCartney has, right when when
- 38:21he passes, you'll envision eighty year Oldau McCartney, not young Paul McCartney.
- 38:24But who from that show, Like for example, people friends fans will say
- 38:30things like, oh I was on a break and all that thing on a
- 38:32break. But everyone, even if you don't watch Friends, says, could
- 38:36I be anymore? That's become part of our life. Yeah, it's with
- 38:42all due respectause, I mean it's an ensem that just works so well together,
- 38:45right, Yeah, with all due respect to the other cast members,
- 38:49I think the ones who are going to have the longest legacy are probably Perry
- 38:52and h and Jennifer ands Andison because of her acting career. Yeah yeah,
- 38:54I mean she's had real longevity and again in her way, not quite as
- 39:01polished a performer as a comic reformer was Perry, but incredible comic chops and
- 39:06incredible screen presence. She's really good. They're all really good. Yeah.
- 39:10But yeah, I just wanted to give that quick shout out because as it
- 39:15hit me hard, oh, because I was saying, very few celebrity deaths
- 39:17hit me really really hard, but this one hit me hard. Yeah,
- 39:20I mean, James Gandel Foeneie hit me very very hard, and so did
- 39:24Philip Simoa Hoffman and the fe that was just about to sort of just rise
- 39:29of and high and would just you know, keep going forever. You know,
- 39:31you'd be happy to see the work of Gandalfini when he was seventy or
- 39:36eighty, like what was Philip's lonro Yeah, yeah, yeah, but you
- 39:39know, Matthew Perry is my age, was my age? Yeah, And
- 39:44as someone who uses sarcastic humor as a defense and offense mechanism, yeah,
- 39:51I really relate to the guy. Honestly, when I'm doing the podcast now,
- 39:53I'm like, I am Chandler, Like I think many of us are
- 39:57Chandler. We just didn't realize it. Yeah, yeah, so yeah,
- 40:00because I think Charlie becomes the punching bag of the show where a lot of
- 40:02people don't watch friends use his whips as his quips. I should say as
- 40:07a oh it's too ridiculous and over the top. I can't. It's forced.
- 40:09But like if you if you watch the show, probably like, no,
- 40:14he's there's a real humanity underlying everything that he did, even when it
- 40:19was heightened, and even when it was you know, yeah that like a
- 40:22punchline or something like that. No, there was always the character of Chandler
- 40:28being before there were that drove the gags as opposed to the other way around.
- 40:34So yeah, I had a lot a lot of time for that guy.
- 40:36I did back in the nineties, and I did to the to the
- 40:38moment he died in all longest was he was my It was my favorite.
- 40:42It was so nice that we got his book last year, absolutely, like
- 40:46just in time, you know what I mean. And the fact that he
- 40:49does the audio book as well. I'm like, isn't that just like such
- 40:51a lovely fitting? It's a farewell now. We didn't realize it at the
- 40:54time, but it's just so great that we have that now where he gets
- 40:58it. He gets to tell us from his active his life. Absolutely,
- 41:01it's not just something that people whipped up after he passed away. Absolutely,
- 41:06yeah. Yeah. So sorry to sort of sidetrack a little bit and a
- 41:08little bit late, but I would be remiss if I didn't give my man
- 41:13a bit of a shout out and a bit of a tribute. So rest
- 41:15in peace, Matthew Perry. But then arrives at the party and it's actually
- 41:19an awesome setup. You know, do I hear dial toming because this party's
- 41:22off the hook and Nelson clearly he's isn't that We all fear it when we
- 41:25kids, when you put on a birthday party, it's like, oh God,
- 41:28I hope everyone arrives and has a good time. I felt bad for
- 41:30Nelson here, even though he's not being nice to everybody, and it's understandable
- 41:34why people aren't there. It's like, I hate seeing people kids in particularly
- 41:37in this situation where you're just like not embarrassed, but it's almost just like
- 41:40so disappointed. It's a it's a weird it is embarrassment, but it's more
- 41:45just like, ah, it's embarrassing. It's embarrassment disappointment. Yeah. And
- 41:50it's a blend of the two, though, isn't it. Yeah? Very
- 41:52much so. I mean naturally, I think, oh shit, what have
- 41:54I done wrong? And then yeah, you know you're going to catastrophize and
- 41:58think, oh, well I've done this wrong, on this wrong, on
- 41:59this, on this wrong, on this wrong. Yep, And that's what
- 42:00Bart points out to him. But you know, he said, he punches
- 42:04the jumping castle, Spider Man arrives a quick nitpick. Yeah, where are
- 42:08the other bullies? I thought they were? Is well? I was going
- 42:10to bring that up later in the episode. It's just like, yeah,
- 42:13so why weren't they there? Maybe they're off beaten up toddlers at the preschool,
- 42:16he knows, But yeah, that aside you know, the Spider Man
- 42:21guy arrives and you get ten minutes materials. Maybe we should come back a
- 42:22little bit later, but Bart reveals nobody's coming. He doesn't actually come clean.
- 42:27No, that he organized the boycott at Alder in the episode. That's
- 42:30true. Oh yeah, I mean that would have been a nice resolution.
- 42:34I thought I thought that was going to be so like now, how I
- 42:37would have done this Nelson. He chooses Nelson over Millhouse, and then Millhouse
- 42:42reveals to Nelson that he's the one. He's the reason we didn't come to
- 42:45your party, and that's what splits up out of spite. That makes a
- 42:47lot of sense. Get get your buddy, Matt's one on the phone.
- 42:52We should be right in this show. How I would have done it?
- 42:53Yeah, that's how we were done it, how it should have been done,
- 42:58Matt. We can work over Zoom or Riverside preverably Zoom, but Riverside.
- 43:05We love Riverside. Friend of the Pod, Riverside, Yeah, I
- 43:08honestly do love Riverside guy. Don't worry about this guy. This man does
- 43:12not represent us. Riverside a lot. I've appeared on numerous podcasts by which
- 43:16I'm into using Riverside and it's great. But as he said, no one's
- 43:22coming because but he blames Nelson. He's like, because you're a joke.
- 43:24You know, you're a joke sometimes that's why. That's why nobody's coming.
- 43:27And he says, well, you know, you have a friend with me.
- 43:30So they basically they enjoyed the party. It's just the two of them,
- 43:32and I enjoyed them having a good time beating up doctor Octopus. Is
- 43:36there is there a worse gig than children's party entertainer? It depends on how
- 43:39the kids behave, Like if you're there to be a punching bay, yes,
- 43:43but if you're there like magician doing tricks. I went to a birthday
- 43:45party last November and there was a magician doing tricks and I was like,
- 43:47oh, dig you down, these are some fucking cool tricks. And the
- 43:51kids were hope. He said that there's a budget. The kids were in
- 43:55awe and they were going along with it. I was like, apparently,
- 43:59I asked mother, I'm like, how much did this guy get paid?
- 44:00That was twenty minutes, four hundred dollars. I'm like, that is the
- 44:02easiest money this guy make. God, yeah, it's probably gone on YouTube
- 44:07learn some learn some close up magic or something. Yeah, oh that's rare.
- 44:12Yeah. There was actually a magician on this week's episode of Have You
- 44:15Been Paying Attention? Right? He was like the a new magician entrepreneur,
- 44:19like extraordinary from Australia, and like his trick was that he had the host,
- 44:23what's his name, Tom Glass? Tom Glass, uh, put a
- 44:27card into a book and then anywhere in the book right, And he held
- 44:30it out and said, now, what page number is it? Right?
- 44:32And Tom says one eighty three, and then all this other shit happened,
- 44:36and it was like basically there was a jar of jelly beans over on the
- 44:39jar over on Sam Pang's desk, and he lifted it up and it was
- 44:43had one on three under the lid. And I was like, yeah,
- 44:45but didn't you just go to Tom before the show and say say it's page
- 44:47one three? Because they didn't show us what page it was. It was
- 44:52just we had to go by Tom's word. And I'm like, this is
- 44:52a pretty shitty. This is no child's birthday parting magician. No, no
- 44:59at all was it was like fantastic Dan or something. I was like,
- 45:01I went even my birthday party that's a dope name. Fantastic Dan. I
- 45:08make sure it's right fantastic. We don't give me an actual proper shading,
- 45:10because I was like this magic is fucking yeah, doves and everything, you'd
- 45:14live animals, but just yard, I mean, I must have meant we're
- 45:20dazzling Dan. Dazzling Dan the Magic Man. Okay, yeah, that's pretty
- 45:25good geelong magician and illusionist. Yeah, gelo, it was legitimate. I
- 45:32was like, oh, I'm so hopefully he's got a YouTube chanurnealist. He's
- 45:37got he's got pages. Yeah, check it a dzzling Dan the Magic Man.
- 45:43But anyway, getting back to entertainment, so doc, ok here we
- 45:45turned on your birthday presents and whole work. And but Nelson it's beat Hi
- 45:47Matt and then they beat up the pinarda spidy dog. It is sitting there
- 45:52chilling with Homer and Nelson's mum just enjoying. The kids joined themselves at Lisa
- 45:58then asked Bart how the party was. He says, no, I had
- 46:00a great time. He thinks it's all over with Nelson, and look I
- 46:02went there having a good time. I was polite to him. But now
- 46:06we're gonna go back to normality. But unfortunately Nelson now greets him on the
- 46:07bus and treating him like a best friend, and I was just like the
- 46:10anything for me here was like, I get why you wouldn't want anyone everyone
- 46:16to know that you went to the party because you want to instigate it the
- 46:19whole thing. But having Nelsons your friend is probably going to have more positives
- 46:22than negatives, as we would soon see. So why are you embarrassed by
- 46:24this? I guess it runs cams to everything. I mean, all the
- 46:29lead up to the boycott and everything like that. Yeah, I mean,
- 46:31but was kind of the ring leader of that. So it's gonna look a
- 46:35little hypocritical and a little um or that he's just a coward in front of
- 46:39all these other people on the bus. Yeah. True. But Nelson gives
- 46:43Bart an entire case of pulky chalk and passes, look, I don't have
- 46:46time for new friends. I've got all this other stuff to do. By
- 46:50when he's doing that, he bumps into Jim Bow and Nelson saves him from
- 46:52the bullies, and where he realized, oh shit, it's actually gonna have
- 46:54its perks. You know, I forgot how cool Bart was, and Bart
- 46:57say's got because someone's smaller and weaker. So they say they're gonna go whale
- 47:00on some toddlers whilst they're napping. Then we have so this again Marge flooting
- 47:04with Homer here. I was like, but there's a line he so he
- 47:08says marital sex, right, and he goes to uh speed up bedtime?
- 47:13And I was like, I have never led it to home this moment.
- 47:17But he's like, she smells like coconut. I was just like, this
- 47:22is life bedtime with children because soon it's bedtime for adults. Yes, but
- 47:28honestly, anyone who is a parent of small kids has experienced this moment,
- 47:31especially if the other day was just like I'll see in the bedroom. It's
- 47:35like kids, bed Now, read your fucking books quick. You're not dressed,
- 47:39get into bed. Only who when you're done putting Lisa to bed,
- 47:50we can finish what we started the other day. Whoa marital sex? Okay?
- 47:57Tight, classic water laid, no barniles, don't do drugs? Love
- 48:01you good night? Dad? Can't you read me a story for a little
- 48:05bit? Would your mother smells like coconut? Okay, sweetie? Which book
- 48:12should I read? Angelica? Button and the Dragon King's trendle Bed. It's
- 48:16the ninth book in the Angelica Button series. Oh yeah, this is that
- 48:20fantasy book that even grown ups like broken lonely grown ups. Chapter one,
- 48:25the ruby Stone in the door portal. Are you asleep yet? No?
- 48:31Sovery then raids the store and he loves it, and to the point where
- 48:36he wants to keep reading, but Lisa wants to go to sleep. He
- 48:37wants to read a head She says, no, you gotta read it with
- 48:39me. He tries to get it, but she's holding onto the book.
- 48:43She went let him. Then we have Nelson and bat and they're at school
- 48:45or they're on top of the school actually making fun of the sunset, and
- 48:51sunt I thought, yeah, I'm pretty sure it says sunset, because it'd
- 48:55be weird to be there in the morning, right, you'd be more gonn
- 48:59to be there in the afternoon. The morning, wouldn't get it? I
- 49:00think you would be there closer to sun ris than sunset. Why would they
- 49:04want to go to Why would they get up early to watch the sunrise because
- 49:07it's beautiful? I don't know. Would you either five thirty in the afternoon
- 49:09or fucking five am? I don't know. I mean part of me wants
- 49:13to be a morning person. Like an early morning person. I love.
- 49:15I love when you wake up with it's like no cars around, magpies are
- 49:19out squawking, your crow buddies are out there. Yeah. But but then
- 49:25he says to Nelson, here, do you ever wish that you weren't a
- 49:29bully? He's like, no, I have to. You know, the
- 49:30shark can't strom they blow up, you know, I have to be a
- 49:35bully, and it gives him his own Nelson vests and the sleeves were torn
- 49:37off, torn off by a wild dogs. Another song rebel, He's a
- 49:40rebel. Oh yeah, that's right. Yeah. And they really fucked out
- 49:45money for the for the rights of this season, haven't they so far.
- 49:46I've gone wild with the soundtracks. Yeah, I mean what the last episode
- 49:50was like, Missy Elliott and yeah you get your freaked on and money for
- 49:52nostraates and money for nothing, Yeah, money for nothing, and that song
- 49:55will not come cheap. That is certainly true. And also Jack MANDIONI feel
- 50:00so good, yeah, as opposed to who's saying he's so good. John
- 50:02Mellencamp, John Cougar, Melon Cougar Mellencamp. Yeah, because it was.
- 50:07It was for a while he was Johnny Cougar. Yeah, I think it
- 50:08was John Cougar Mellencamp. And I don't know if he is still John Cougar
- 50:10Mellencamp or he's just John Mellencamp these days. He's so good. Is a
- 50:14banger, it's really good. Come on baby. But it's just a really
- 50:20cool point of view shot here of getting all the perks like our Good Fellows,
- 50:22like you were saying yes, and it's Bart doing like the voiceover over
- 50:25the top, even though so the to the point, even at the end
- 50:29it's a freeze frame, isn't there there is yeah, which I believe is
- 50:32Good Fellows has got to share a freeze frames. So yeah. Homer then
- 50:37arrives at at home and Marge's annoy because Lisa's not there, because he's looking
- 50:43for Lisa to read the book. She's that Janie's because her mum makes a
- 50:45good mac and cheese. Never ever ever tell your mum that someone else's mom
- 50:50makes a better version of something. They will never forget it. I remember
- 50:52once I've told my mum that someone made a better spaghetti, and she still
- 50:55reminds me to this day. Oh my god, don't do it, and
- 50:58never tell your wife that you prefer your mum's cooking your hairs. Oh god,
- 51:01you're really You're in a trap, there, aren't you. You're in
- 51:04a real bind. Yeah, because my mom, like, I'm gonna throw
- 51:07that makes the best roast. Rive. Everyone's mum make the best roast.
- 51:08Rid. It's the roast that you grew up with everyone and mum's roast.
- 51:10But everyone always wants my mum to make the roast beef for Christmas right when
- 51:15she's cooking the rost, because she does it the best. And Nicola tried
- 51:16cooking it at once, and I was like, in my head, this
- 51:19isn't as good as your mum's. But do not tell her. She knows.
- 51:22She knows. Do not bring it up. It's pretty obvious. Yeah,
- 51:27this isn't chewy, honey, this is great. But I've mentioned this
- 51:30before on the podcast. If I don't acknowledge the food, Nichola will say
- 51:36it's not bad. I'm like, yeah, it's good. She knows if
- 51:39I'm not enjoying it, if I don't say how good it is. So
- 51:40now I'm just like in my head, whether you like it, or not.
- 51:44Just compliment the food. Always say, always compliment the food. You
- 51:46and I are both very fortunate. Yeah, everything that our significant others make
- 51:52is pretty delicious. So I went for fib including the love. Let's move
- 51:59on, I very rarely say, guy flustered, Homer home. You must
- 52:10read ahead. Fiction is your passion, Lady, You're nice, but I'm
- 52:15married. Just read the book you shaved ape. Oh I can't read ahead,
- 52:21I promised Lisa, I wouldn't just take a peek at the title of
- 52:24the next chapter and see if you can resist an unexpected occurrence? What could
- 52:30it be? We hooked him gallahead. Yeah, kind you've won. So
- 52:37many shows now are made with a cliffhanger ending at the episode. It used
- 52:44to happen occasionally, but like back in the day, there wasn't as much
- 52:47choice, and I was like, you know, you just knew the people
- 52:50were going to tune in the following week bin shows. Now it's like every
- 52:52episode has to end with a cliffhanger. Yeah, it used to be just
- 52:57like you have a standline episode like you guys back next week. It's all
- 53:00good. Yeah, yeah, but I feel like now with the binge mentality,
- 53:05do you think the fangers are required because you just know it's like,
- 53:07then i't have to wait that extra week they get if the play next episode
- 53:10starts by time they got off the cash, you're just going to watch the
- 53:13next episode anyway. You know, if you've got on watching to the end,
- 53:15they're probably going to watch the next one because mentality, Now, if
- 53:20you don't like a show, you're not going to watch a whole episode.
- 53:22Yeah, I'd say that's true. Our attention spans don't last. Well,
- 53:23it's like we give it ten minutes, we're not we're not enjoying it within
- 53:25ten fifty minutes. We'll just put something else on. If you've gone the
- 53:29entire way, you're probably going to watch the next episode. Well, they're
- 53:31doing half the work for us. It's like and also, you know,
- 53:36Netflix especially is letting you know very kindly. It's like two more episodes to
- 53:38go. There's a shitty though when it starts playing the next one because you
- 53:42can't find the mark, like I do want to watch the next one now
- 53:44it started up. That's true. I mean the times like no, I
- 53:45want to watch the crid Yeah, who played so and so? Yeah that's
- 53:50it? Yeah, yeah, something happening during the credits and then just like
- 53:52in the small scom like, what is this? What are you doing?
- 53:58What are you talking about? Milhouse then asked Bart, you know, why
- 54:00are you hanging out with Nelson? Oh? Actually no, have we got
- 54:02that part? Yeah? Yeah, he spoils the greast ash for the white
- 54:07guy Millhouse and Bart and then asking, actually, before we get there,
- 54:09why is Marginal wanting the bank? Now? This is that chance, Lisa.
- 54:13Is all the house bars not in the house. Why they're banging women?
- 54:17Amateurs? Who understands them? Milhouse? And I said, he asked
- 54:22why you're hanging out with Nelson? And he calls him a bully. He
- 54:25doesn't like him using the bully word, but then he says other boys can
- 54:29use it. Yeah. He calls Bart a sidekick and that gets him going.
- 54:31But then they go and fly kites, you know, and nothing sees
- 54:35it gets angry and breaks see Captain's leg. Yeah, it was really unusual.
- 54:38It's really weird. It wasn't like it was a joke, it was
- 54:40just he stabs his leg. Yeah. I was expecting that. When it
- 54:44went the next scene, I was like, is he going to be branching
- 54:47the legs as like weapons or something. Nothing. No, But then,
- 54:51so did you know that red and blue are the colors of friendship? I
- 54:53did not know. I wasn't aware. But I'll make sure your birthday present
- 54:55next time is blue and or red, Thanks very much. Yeah, arrives,
- 55:00he's getting a demon's jumper, but arrives late to Nelson's house and he's
- 55:04waiting all this time to smash the FuG and I was like, this is
- 55:06the aspect of Nelson that I don't like killing animals? Yeah, Like,
- 55:08there was the episode but the Mother where Nelson wanted him to kill the bird
- 55:12and but deliberately tries to miss, but I had a crooked sight and he
- 55:15kills the bird. I'm like, there's always been an element of being cruel
- 55:16to animals and story right, So it rained when I was picking the kids
- 55:22up from daycad the other day, and for some reasonut it rains, all
- 55:24the snails come out on the footpath on walking into their daycare, and I
- 55:28was like, what are you doing, guys? You stand no chance like
- 55:30walking on the entrance way. So I was trying to pick up these snails
- 55:34and moving across and I'm like, oh, you a fucking people. Look
- 55:36at me. Funny, I'm moving these snaps. I know the kid's gonna
- 55:37stand on them. And I went into the daycare and they had a tub
- 55:40that snails are called into and kids are just picking the snails up and dropping.
- 55:44I'm like, I like yelled a little it. I was like,
- 55:46oh, yeah, stop, I try to teach these kids that snails are
- 55:50actually animals. It's like they couldn't compute. And I'm like to the teacher,
- 55:53I was like, he letting the people. I told them to be
- 55:55gentlemen, but they're not being gentitle I'm like, how about you don't let
- 55:59them. I can hurt these snails, like it's just I get it,
- 56:01it's just a snail, but I'm like, it's a living organ. I'm
- 56:04like, how about you teach the kids that these are actually animals. She's
- 56:07like, ah yeah, I'm just like the fuck is wrong with me.
- 56:08You're probably the person to put crazy frog on. But it bothered me seeing
- 56:15these kids just picking up these snails and just like throwing them and dropping all
- 56:16like, is that animals? Oh? Like I'm I can send myself a
- 56:21terrible softy because whenever, yeah, as you said, when the rain happens,
- 56:24the snails come out, and I'll have an occasion when I'm like I've
- 56:28gotten home and walking to my to my back door or whatever. It's God,
- 56:34damn the stuff, damn snails. I feel so bad. It's like
- 56:37I tore his house down, Yeah, on a rainy night. Yeah,
- 56:42but these kids were just like picking them up and throwing them and it made
- 56:44me so angry. Yeah. But apparently the frog peede in Nelson's hands,
- 56:49so he got his come uppins. But then says that he was stealing with
- 56:52these grapes. But Nowson proves that he wasn't because he showed the photos that
- 56:53he took on his digital camera dated when we took photos on cameras. Do
- 56:59you still have a digital camera flying couple in the cupboard? Yeah, yeah,
- 57:01I've got I've got one, and I'm like, this is such a
- 57:04nice piece of tech. I don't want to throw it away. You've mentioned
- 57:06this before, but now I'm just like, your phone does the same thing,
- 57:07but your phone probably doesn't. Or you got a new phone, didn't
- 57:10you? I did? Yeah, yeah, except I don't know how much
- 57:14of an upgrade. What do you get it's another Samsung? What one though
- 57:17it's an A something and I probably had an S model you gone backwards?
- 57:22I have, but I thought I don't know. I mean, I think
- 57:27I was looking at the numbers rather than the letters. Okay, yeah,
- 57:30but something I discovered it was this doesn't wireless chart. Did you get it
- 57:34from the crime market? No, like got it from a man. And
- 57:37you want the A twenty one, not the S twenty one. I've got
- 57:39a man of very nice van. You're late. I was waiting to smash
- 57:45this frog with you and it beeeding my hand. Sorry, I was stealing
- 57:52loose grapes at the grocery store. Really you call this stealing loose grapes.
- 58:02We were just having fun. Don't get upset, Oh right, stupid Nelson
- 58:07always gets upset. He'll probably do something stupid like smash his own camera.
- 58:15Look what you made me do? I know? Say get in here.
- 58:20The cat's eyes are running. I needed at durbum coming ma, see you
- 58:24later, lying Trader. Something in your eye, mister mooch, Well do
- 58:32something in my eye? Doo ma, what happened to the curtains? I
- 58:40made him into a dress for a karaoke singing, Hey buck, you want
- 58:45some ice? Cream. I just hit a major marshmallow vad. I think
- 58:49it goes all the way to the bottom. No things, what's wrong?
- 58:53Me and Nelson were best friends and now I think he's gonna kill me.
- 58:57Puly problem. Hey, you know what they say, Oh, bullies are
- 59:00cowards. It's not true. They're brave because they're strong. Then Lisa offers
- 59:07Bart mycecream. You were touched on that earlier, but he's too worried to
- 59:09eat. You know, he's worried about Nelson. Grandpa just brings up a
- 59:12random story. It's kind of like Homer's I like stories. It's just like,
- 59:15bullies are brave because they're strong. It's not even a really a joke.
- 59:19Then no, but Nelson is now list the jokes like, oh,
- 59:22you know, everyone says bullies are actually cowards, but Grandpa's been a contrarian.
- 59:27Yeah, forget it. Nelson is now hiding in Bart's locker, and
- 59:30there are a couple of members in this episode where it's just like he is
- 59:32like that crazy X where it's like you think he's going to be angry.
- 59:36Then he's just like, oh but I'm really really sorry. But but it's
- 59:39like I can't read you crazy. Yeah, so I can't be with you.
- 59:45It's going to be this much work. And when Bart caught him out
- 59:47for he's like, you're fucking mad man. I don't want to be your
- 59:49friend with anyone, like you're in the locker, but what are you doing
- 59:52crazy? Even like Skinner and charm has want nothing to do with it.
- 59:53It's best of we don't get involved. Meanwhile, Homer is crying over Gray
- 59:57Stash is a sign photo himself at Lisa is excited. You know, we're
- 1:00:02going to finish his book now. And you know what would how would you
- 1:00:06feel if Gray Stash died of the day my childhood ended? And I was
- 1:00:08just like, yeah, this is sad. I feel like the Sanda thing
- 1:00:12for me. That kind of felt like when my childhood ended, when do
- 1:00:15you think your child? Can you remember a moment you just sort of realized
- 1:00:19nothing's the same anymore. I remember that that day thinking life isn't how I
- 1:00:24thought it was anymore. Because you're angry that you felt you'd be lied to,
- 1:00:28but you just he disappointed that it's not a thing. This one wasn't
- 1:00:30a childhood thing so much, okay, more like a very very early adolescence
- 1:00:37thing, because I mean, I mean, I think I knew from an
- 1:00:42early heads like I think Mum and Dad might be Santa. It's all right,
- 1:00:45you got no problem with that. Likewise, easter budding and tooth theory,
- 1:00:46it's all good. But I think you know, it's probably about maybe
- 1:00:52eleven or twelve, and you know, people are growing up at different rates,
- 1:00:55and you know, as we I think we said earlier, sort of
- 1:00:59the social dynam makes ever changing. It's going to like sand beneath your feet.
- 1:01:02And I think there occasions when someone that you thought was your friend would
- 1:01:07sort of like go related this episode, would go off with someone else.
- 1:01:10It's kind of like, wait a minute, well we're not friendzy, what's
- 1:01:14going on? Yeah, my male. I was probably overreacting, but I
- 1:01:17remember thinking, oh gosh, I'm gonna have there's a bit more to this
- 1:01:21life thing that I thought there was only going to be cool and hanging out
- 1:01:23with my own what are you talking about, white male? But tends out
- 1:01:29to be one of the great joys in life, it does, indeed.
- 1:01:30Yeah. But yeah, so I just as I was touching on earlier,
- 1:01:34I just hope I just loved that Homer was just like thinking for Lisa here.
- 1:01:37You know you in no way was being self just like they've trained us
- 1:01:40to think that I was going to do something stupid and wrong and selfish.
- 1:01:44Yes, yeah, and you're shocked when he doesn't. That's that's not a
- 1:01:46good thing. No, it's not at all. How would you feel if
- 1:01:52something bad happened to Greastash? It would be the day my childhood anger come.
- 1:01:57I read Angelica was trapped in the stuff o'clock of sandy doom. Time
- 1:02:05to choose, Graistash. If you save Angelica, you die. Where are
- 1:02:10you stopping? Where almost at the happy ending? No book is gonna make
- 1:02:15my daughter said, Time to do what I do best, lie to a
- 1:02:20child. Gray Stash looked crumped right in the eye and said, mustache power
- 1:02:27exhibs. Oh man, I can't believe you beat me, but you did.
- 1:02:46I somehow escaped from the eye glass and now to go on living the
- 1:03:01end? Is that really how it ends? What happened to the Mollinical Council.
- 1:03:07They went to star Wars Land and fought star Wars. God, you
- 1:03:12can read to me anytime now. Lisa won't know about death till it strikes
- 1:03:17someone close to her. God's ending is better. It was a really nice
- 1:03:31way to wrap that up, wasn't it. I think so, yeah,
- 1:03:35that's almost like the little secret she's willing. He was going along with something
- 1:03:37and she's going along with her little charade. But everyone's happier as a result.
- 1:03:40He thinks it's not a good thing. I just liked it. Now,
- 1:03:45the field trip at the tidepools, this has felt like a really random
- 1:03:49add on. Yeah. Well they'd run out of that. They realized that
- 1:03:52hadn't gone long enough, and it's just like, ah, I guess you
- 1:03:54need to I guess we need to wrap up this storyline with Button Nelson,
- 1:03:58and maybe we need to introduce some perils. So much happened so quickly.
- 1:04:01Yeah, so they almost drowned in the ocean, and then like oh that
- 1:04:05almos a rescue and then octopus and there's a dead diver and yeahs so basically
- 1:04:12basically they're the tire pools and Nelson picks Bart as his buddy, takeshim away
- 1:04:15from everybody else and it again, he takes him into like a cave.
- 1:04:19He's like, you're a bad friend, you know you and your like that
- 1:04:21I protected you and then but I was like no, you're fucking weird.
- 1:04:25You act all nice and you get all crazy of there's something not right there,
- 1:04:28and he explains, I've never had a best friend before. And then
- 1:04:30all of a sudden they're nearly drowning, and as he said, the octopus,
- 1:04:33he steals a diver's yeah snork or whatever. The driver dies, octiples
- 1:04:40then steals the snorkel. But then they pass out and they wake up,
- 1:04:43And that's like a bit of a Lord of the Rings tribute as well,
- 1:04:46when I think when at the end of the first one, if you haven't
- 1:04:50seen the first one, yeah, yeah, when Sam Wise falls out of
- 1:04:55the boat or he chases him and he's nearly drowning, and then Frodo sort
- 1:04:59of like reached then grabbs him, pulls him out. It's the first one.
- 1:05:01Yeah, at the end of the Fellowship of the Ring. Okay,
- 1:05:03okay, you can't swim. Oh no, and then he rescues him and
- 1:05:08all that's right, yes, yes, then yeah, So basically Nelson never
- 1:05:11wake up because he never passed out, and he says, no, you're
- 1:05:13nothing to me now, you're just bafed to me. So bat then has
- 1:05:15a bit of reminiscing back in his bedroom. He grubs out the vests and
- 1:05:18says, I never forget the wheat we had we were best friends, and
- 1:05:20Nelson rides past saying, ha ha, I touched your heart and that is
- 1:05:23the end. And it's also a bit of a brokeback mountain shout out with
- 1:05:26the picture. Yeah, yeah, the shirt hanging up and the picture is
- 1:05:30very much a brokeback mountain shout out. So okay, I don't know.
- 1:05:33Maybe that's trying to counteract some of the weak ass gay eggs that they had
- 1:05:36before that, you know, with the whole manmouth kind of deal. Yeah,
- 1:05:42but you know, this is what two thousand and six, two thousand
- 1:05:44and seven, such things were in vogue, particularly at Simson's HQ. And
- 1:05:48then over the credits, I'm assuming we got here a deleted scene. It
- 1:05:53feels that way, doesn't it. Yeah, just being sad about Gray Stash
- 1:05:55and crying at Moe's and them saying, don't worry about it's a character,
- 1:05:59and don't you say his name is he's naming your mouth sounds like dirt,
- 1:06:00and no measould ever Outlivey's fictional wizard. So I feel like this would have
- 1:06:03been a scene that they probably put in. But it's like, if you're
- 1:06:05gonna put it in the credits, why do just put it into the actual
- 1:06:08episode? That would make sense. Why add these deleted scenes in the credits?
- 1:06:13Just put them in where they were? I agree with you on this
- 1:06:15point. Anyway, what do we learn bomb? What you learn from the
- 1:06:19episode with the Davis that the name for a bundle of sticks is a yes?
- 1:06:25Indeed, I learned that no men should Outlivey's fictional wizard. That makes
- 1:06:28sense. Forward, your name will be all right? It's time for the
- 1:06:31Guy Davis New Name Championship. Round eight four of this week. We have
- 1:06:35the current leader boards standing at in first position, we have Carl Molden on
- 1:06:40eight points, Luck McKay on seven points, and Philip J. Hawkins on
- 1:06:44five. Take it away. One point goes to a vested development. Ooh,
- 1:06:49that is David Mott. Well, I'm David. Is that his first
- 1:06:53points? That is not his first points? And that puts David Mott on
- 1:06:55three points? Well on David Motzki two points four the Bully Guard. He's
- 1:07:00back. Philip J. Hawkins hawk Yes, why he is now on seven
- 1:07:04points while I'm in second position and three points goes to full Nelson. Ah,
- 1:07:11he's done it again. Look I am your leader. He is,
- 1:07:15indeed, he is the leader now outright. He's got three points there,
- 1:07:18which puts him in first position on ten points. So now he's gone from
- 1:07:23second to first. Luke McKay's on ten, Carl mahle dooing bumped down to
- 1:07:26second position on eight, and Philip J. Klawn up there on seven points
- 1:07:29in third. What a fascinating race. I guess it's so exciting. It's
- 1:07:32very, very exciting. Indeed, when we parted the championship, just going
- 1:07:34to be a support of ours on it. Patrio, Let's get into some
- 1:07:38male bad questions, bad questions. Bail is here. Harrison mccluel says,
- 1:07:44have you guys ever been disappointed or saddened by the ending of a book,
- 1:07:46TV show or film. He believes the How I Met Your Mother ended ending
- 1:07:50was awful. Hmm. I remember being really disappointed with the ending of Sons
- 1:07:56of Anarchy. Oh yeah, I don't want to say what happened. It
- 1:08:00was almost like a while ago, but I don't know, I ways spoil
- 1:08:05it, but basically the end the story that you were watching for ended in
- 1:08:10like the second last episode and the last one was just sort of tread like
- 1:08:13like a wrap up, and I was just like, ah, I don't
- 1:08:16care anymore. There's so many shows that that would do that, though.
- 1:08:19I mean, I remember Game of Thrones did a bit. I mean not
- 1:08:21talking about the very very ending, but you'd watch a season and then the
- 1:08:27second last episode would usually be like the huge battle, and then the episode
- 1:08:31after that, the final episode of the season would be after math of the
- 1:08:35last battle and sort of setting the pieces for the next season. Yeah,
- 1:08:40yeah, it's like okay, yeah, it would usually be a lot more
- 1:08:43subdued and quiet. I remember. I think they did that on a couple
- 1:08:45of other shows, maybe on Breaking Bad, certainly a mad Men, I
- 1:08:48think they did that as well. I feel bad. I don't really remember
- 1:08:53that many sort of finales that that let me down, that disappointed me.
- 1:08:58I don't I remember being at the end of season one of Your Honor,
- 1:09:01I mean, like, you can't fucking possibly end it this way. Have
- 1:09:04you seen Your Honor? I started it but didn't finish it. Okay,
- 1:09:09we watched the second season and it was all right, but it's just like
- 1:09:13on that first season ending, going I feel so empty inside. Oh,
- 1:09:17it's just and I was angry how it ended. It's just like I don't
- 1:09:23watch it to be feeling bad. I'll tell you what. Actually, there
- 1:09:26was something about the mist oh no, oh yeah, a little bit.
- 1:09:30Yeah, I mean we talked about this when we did our movie guys think
- 1:09:32of the fog, Yeah, and how the twist at the end. I
- 1:09:36felt really sad. I was like, oh man, I felt really sad,
- 1:09:40of course, but also kind of like there's a very traumatic incident that
- 1:09:43happens and then almost instantly, it's like something that could have resolved, yeah,
- 1:09:49renders that. Yeah, And it's like if I was making it,
- 1:09:54I would have had like a bit of a gap. I would have had
- 1:09:56him sitting in the car and like bemoaning, and then like an hour would
- 1:10:00have gone past or something. But for it happened instantly, Like that's kind
- 1:10:02of like this is almost too much of a end of a sitcom episode,
- 1:10:06didn't it a little bit? Yeah? Yeah. I was thinking of something
- 1:10:11that disappointed me recently. It was the Across the Spider Verse. I believe
- 1:10:15it's it's the follow up to Endo the Spider Verse, and I think I
- 1:10:17knew going in it was like, oh, yeah, this is going to
- 1:10:19be a two part but yeah it got to the end, I'm like,
- 1:10:25oh, okay, yeah, I know we're gonna have to wait a while
- 1:10:27for the for the rest, but it's like this just yeah, this felt
- 1:10:30like you've have you not learned? We don't have patience anymore? That's correct,
- 1:10:34Yeah, we need patience and I don't have. Right. A couple
- 1:10:39more questions we have here, George of power not a question per se,
- 1:10:42Well, thank you, George, I asked for a question. But I
- 1:10:45love the subplot of this episode. My mum read me Harry Potter as a
- 1:10:47kid, and turns out was reading ahead after I fell asleep, just like
- 1:10:51Homer had. My mum and I have always bonded over the Simpsons, and
- 1:10:56so to have them put forward this story which has happened to us is always
- 1:10:59something that I adored, Gray Stash. It is nice when things happening in
- 1:11:03your real life. For me, when I like I watched the the the
- 1:11:10Homer with the rush rushing the bedtime, I was like, this happened.
- 1:11:15But for me the most was like in March being not proud when Barke gets
- 1:11:18caught stealing right. I've said how I got caught trying to slip that Disney
- 1:11:24Adventures book into the TV guide and Mom was just like so disappointed. I
- 1:11:27was like, whenever I watched Marge being proud, I'm like, this is
- 1:11:29what happened, as I have such a connection with that episode. Andrew jpr
- 1:11:32Man, what's the no what's your favorite fictional book series? These aren't that
- 1:11:36well known, but I enjoyed all of them. The Wicked series from the
- 1:11:40nineties, Yeah, I love those Wicked ones. Was it Paul Jennings did
- 1:11:44Wicked? I think so. Yeah. There's a writer and like named Charlie
- 1:11:47Houston. He's written all kinds of novels and comic books and other things like
- 1:11:51that, but he did a series of novels based around this character named Joe
- 1:11:57Pitt who became he was sort of a low level, big city tough guy
- 1:12:04who got turned into a vampire and yeah sort of then worked as a freelance
- 1:12:10enforcer slash private detective in the supernatural world. And Charlie wrote like five of
- 1:12:15the Joe Pitt novels. I've read them all and I think they're really really
- 1:12:18good. I was waiting for someone to turn them into equally cool movies or
- 1:12:23a like Netflix series. So yeah, I think it starts with one called
- 1:12:27Already Dead, and there's like five of them. That's a cool name for
- 1:12:30like an eighties I Already Dead. What would be on the cover or the
- 1:12:34poster for that Already Dead? I imagine you've got sort of a black and
- 1:12:39white image of Joe Pitt himself. I saw as being played by Colin Farrell,
- 1:12:45but it could be anyone and there's a dash of red in there or
- 1:12:48something he's like holding a steak or something that's got blood on. Everything else
- 1:12:51is black and white, but you've got a dash of red in there.
- 1:12:54You go it? Would it be what they call it when it's like it
- 1:12:57moves? Oh yeahicular? Because someone brought up on have you been paying attention
- 1:13:01last night? The Jack Frost movie from the nineties, This is the Killer
- 1:13:05Snowman? Oh yeah? And that had a lenticular As a kid, I
- 1:13:09was like, nothing, look scary. Our timelines all out of whack because
- 1:13:14we're recording two episodes back in the back. But as we record this,
- 1:13:17last night was Halloween, and obviously it was last week and have you been
- 1:13:20paying attention that last night? But I was over at my good buddy,
- 1:13:26Steve's big Halloween guy. And as I was opening the door to help him
- 1:13:30out and handing out trick or trick gifts, gift bags, gift bag,
- 1:13:33see gift bags, all other gift bags. Kids love a gift bag.
- 1:13:38There was a one of those lenticular pictures behind behind me that had oh,
- 1:13:43it's a picture of an it's an old picture of a lady from like the
- 1:13:46nineteen twenties or something like that. Then you look at the other way,
- 1:13:48Ah, she's a vampire. And some of the kids who would see that
- 1:13:51go, oh my god, that's such good picture. I want to go
- 1:13:55all that. Next year, I was seeing how much enjoyment the kids were
- 1:13:59having. I was like, it's finally happening. Halloween's happening. Yeah,
- 1:14:01well, you've got three hundred and sixty four days to do so we have
- 1:14:03indeed. Yes, all right, guys, I hope you enjoyed our review
