- 0:04[SPEAKER_00]: Welcome to Three Yards Perkati, a podcast covering the Miami Dolphins and the NFL.
- 0:11[SPEAKER_00]: Now, here's your host, Chris, Alf, and Simon.
- 0:17[SPEAKER_01]: Now, we're on.
- 0:18[SPEAKER_01]: This is Three Yards Perkari.
- 0:20[SPEAKER_01]: You do not see Simon Clancy.
- 0:23[SPEAKER_01]: You do not see Chris Kaufman.
- 0:26[SPEAKER_01]: But you do see Married Brave.
- 0:27[SPEAKER_01]: You do see myself.
- 0:30[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we're going to recap this fiasco in Las Vegas.
- 0:34[SPEAKER_01]: I've had some fiasco's in Las Vegas before.
- 0:36[SPEAKER_02]: Have you married about?
- 0:38[SPEAKER_02]: No, I've only been to Las Vegas.
- 0:42[SPEAKER_02]: I want to say two times.
- 0:43[SPEAKER_02]: And both times, I was already well into adulthood.
- 0:48[SPEAKER_02]: So I had my priority straight and no fiascos in Vegas.
- 0:53[SPEAKER_02]: I've had plenty of fiascos, just not in Vegas.
- 0:56[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, last time I went to Vegas, I actually came back with more money than I left over the West.
- 1:01[SPEAKER_02]: That's a win.
- 1:02[SPEAKER_01]: You know, not only more money, like I got basically everything paid for, so, you know, it was, it was, it was one of the most successful trips ever, you know, I haven't been back since, so I just know successful then the dolphins trip this past Sunday.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I just know that next time I go to Las Vegas, I almost went for this game.
- 1:22[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, and that would have been at the buckle, but I just know the next time I go to Vegas, they're getting it back.
- 1:27[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm like, I'm savoring it, you know, it's going on what two years now.
- 1:32[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm just savoring it, all right, this like the longest I've ever gone without going to Las Vegas, by the way.
- 1:38[SPEAKER_02]: So anyway, let's talk about this game.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_01]: How does the pointing, how does the pointing, right?
- 1:43[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I guess.
- 1:45[SPEAKER_02]: There were some hopes going into this one.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_02]: We had talked about it, you know, how we thought that, you know, if the dolphins were going to steal a win early, this was the game to do it, right?
- 1:54[SPEAKER_02]: The schedule gets a lot harder from here on out minus a couple of games against the jets who hate to say it looked decent against the Tennessee Titans yesterday themselves, but, uh,
- 2:05[SPEAKER_02]: They couldn't get it done.
- 2:06[SPEAKER_02]: They could not get it done.
- 2:07[SPEAKER_02]: They were thoroughly outplayed and all facets of the game offense defense special teams.
- 2:12[SPEAKER_02]: And it was a disappointing showing, right?
- 2:15[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think any of us thought it was going to be this was going to be some magical season.
- 2:20[SPEAKER_02]: Jeff Haffley's first season is head coach, Malik Willis's first season is starting quarterback.
- 2:24[SPEAKER_02]: you know, operating at 45% of what the cap is with all the the dead cap they have it I didn't think it was going to be a magical year but I really thought they had a shot against the Raiders and pretty early on in that when you kind of figured out no in in fact they didn't have a shot.
- 2:40[SPEAKER_01]: Well, what you really want is for this team to get better as the season goes on, you know, to show some promise.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_01]: You know, it wasn't all hopeless.
- 2:48[SPEAKER_01]: And I guess we'll talk a little bit here about like the good.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_01]: Man, Jacob Rodriguez, I felt as if, look, physically, he was fabulous.
- 3:00[SPEAKER_01]: Like it was absolutely fabulous, okay?
- 3:02[SPEAKER_01]: Physically, the football was on point.
- 3:06[SPEAKER_01]: I just started in the first half.
- 3:10[SPEAKER_01]: You could see it happening in real time.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_01]: He's checking out a front.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_01]: And they're running away from his checks.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_01]: So Clint Kupiak was completely fooling Jacob Rodriguez in that first half.
- 3:23[SPEAKER_01]: And there were using those zipper motions.
- 3:25[SPEAKER_01]: Zipper motions when you run either the slot receiver or the tight end and then you run them across the formation and then you're snapping it before he leaves the tackle box, right?
- 3:35[SPEAKER_01]: And Jacob Rodriguez is watching this and he's identifying it and usually that means like a wham and they're running a
- 3:45[SPEAKER_01]: So he's checking the front to put his ends into the beat gaps and then the running outside zone.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, which is disastrous because now you're leaving Estyn Janty with Estyn Janty with a safety or a corner if you if you're in cover.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_01]: So I thought he had a hard time.
- 4:06[SPEAKER_01]: I thought he settled in the second half pretty well.
- 4:10[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if it was just halfway telling him hey relax.
- 4:22[SPEAKER_00]: in this game.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
- 4:24[SPEAKER_01]: Jacob Rodriguez.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_02]: Sure, absolutely.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_02]: I thought, you know, I just released an article, actually just a few minutes ago on the fin cider where every week I'll pick an MVP for the game or excuse me, stock up, stock down for the game.
- 4:39[SPEAKER_02]: I call it Fins Up Fins Down.
- 4:40[SPEAKER_02]: And Jacob Rodriguez was my fins up player of the week.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_02]: He 14 tackles second out of any player in the NFL in week one,
- 4:52[SPEAKER_02]: Jacob had 14 like you said he got better as the game went along that that's first game Gidders that's rookie Gidders You're going against a clink who be at who who's a good offensive mind going against a rookie linebacker All right, it went how it was probably supposed to go in the first half in terms of you know any outside or looking at this game How do you think it's gonna go and went how it was supposed to go but he did get better in the second half.
- 5:17[SPEAKER_02]: I thought he laid some some good hits
- 5:19[SPEAKER_02]: on some of those Raiders' offensive skill players.
- 5:21[SPEAKER_02]: I thought he was bringing the intensity, and that's what you want to see.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_02]: I think it'll get better as the season rolls along for Jacob Rodriguez, but I do think it was a real quality showing for the Rookie's first game in the league.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, more of the good, and we're going to do this in the first half of this show.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_01]: In the second half of the show, there'll be plenty of time.
- 5:41[SPEAKER_01]: to undress every poor part of this team.
- 5:45[SPEAKER_01]: But basically, they couldn't stand any prosperity in this game.
- 5:49[SPEAKER_01]: Like they would get handed something was handed to them and they'd be like, nope, we don't want it.
- 5:56[SPEAKER_01]: And it was a shame.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_01]: And we'll talk about it in the second half, where they actively lost this game like four times.
- 6:06[SPEAKER_01]: in that game.
- 6:07[SPEAKER_01]: When they had opportunities four times like they were handed the opportunity to turn the momentum and in one instance I even said it on our discord only friends by the way you can see right there on the scroll and you'll check the check the link in the description you could join 299 read only 499 all access join on a desktop.
- 6:28[SPEAKER_01]: I said it like at halftime when
- 6:33[SPEAKER_01]: I said, they need to turn over in plus territory, and they need to go get a touch on it.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_01]: They have any chance to win this game.
- 6:39[SPEAKER_01]: And that's precisely what happened.
- 6:41[SPEAKER_01]: But anyway, we'll get to that in the second half.
- 6:43[SPEAKER_01]: Another good, and we're going to finish up here in the first half, only talking about the good.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_01]: Man, Caleb Douglas has advertised, huh?
- 6:50[SPEAKER_02]: Yep.
- 6:51[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_02]: uh... five catches ninety four yards single most yards by a rookie dolphins wide receiver in his first game in the NFL uh... that's his record he holds alone but also read today that it's actually tied for the most amount of receiving yards for a dolphins player making their dolphins debut with tyri kill uh... in twenty-two so tyri kill in twenty-two the great tyri kill
- 7:18[SPEAKER_02]: 94 receiving yards in his Dolphins debut Caleb Douglas the quote unquote over drafted wide receiver from John Eric Sullivan third round pick this year.
- 7:29[SPEAKER_02]: Pied for the greatest debut for a Dolphins receiver in the history of this team since 1966.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_02]: So that's a pretty cool stat.
- 7:39[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and even Chris Bulk got in on the action.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_01]: He had a couple of targets.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_01]: But he got the big one for 25 yards.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_01]: And you can see the vision, right?
- 7:48[SPEAKER_01]: Like we're beginning to see a little bit of the vision.
- 7:51[SPEAKER_01]: Like maybe you want to supplement that room a little bit on the back end, maybe you want to find another guy to press these rookies.
- 7:58[SPEAKER_01]: But you can start to see the vision like this is like, they're not hopeless in that unit anymore.
- 8:04[SPEAKER_01]: At least I don't think so.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_02]: No, I don't think so either.
- 8:07[SPEAKER_02]: I think Caleb Douglass already showed just in one week that he belongs in the National Football League.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_02]: And that he can be a quality starting receiver for this team.
- 8:15[SPEAKER_02]: He has a nice rapport with quarterback Malik Willis.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_02]: Chris Bell missed most of training camp.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_02]: Didn't get back until the very end.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_02]: So he wasn't a large snap taker in this one.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_02]: Played about, if I remember correctly, about half the snaps on offense, you could probably check me on that one if you got the numbers there.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_02]: You know, as the Caesar rolls along and he gets a little bit more in football shape, and he even admitted he needs to do so, and he builds a rapport with Malik Willis.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_02]: I think that both both Bell and Douglas are going to prove themselves to be receivers worth investing time in for the future of this franchise.
- 8:53[SPEAKER_02]: So like you said, there's always room to add people, but I thought Caleb Douglas and Chris Bell both looked good in their dolphin's debut.
- 9:01[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and another thing, another of the good, like sometimes in training camp, you don't get, you know, all the entire story, and sometimes training camps are like, right, right, because most of the stuff playing the games, it's completely different, like we saw, we saw an entire training camp, we saw an entire preseason of a team that was going to be devoted to running the football, and
- 9:24[SPEAKER_01]: That was a poor game plan if that's exactly what they plan to do because that did not look like the team that they wanted to be Right, but another of the good was all throughout training camp.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_01]: I felt like the safety room was as bad as You can get and yes, today They probably were the team's best unit everybody on that unit played great
- 9:46[SPEAKER_01]: Michael Taff played great Dante Trader, Dante Trader is especially played great if you watch him on film and Zane Anderson made a bunch of plays.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_01]: So the safety's I thought we're actually pretty good in this game.
- 10:00[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and then talk to that unit.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_02]: Well, that'll bold well for the future at least this season, right?
- 10:07[SPEAKER_02]: And, you know, this team is going to be ever changing as the season rolls on.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_02]: John Erick Sullivan is going to be churning the bottom of this roster.
- 10:15[SPEAKER_02]: You know, he's already done it multiple times, and there's only been one game played.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_02]: So I expect to see even more claims and cuts and whatnot this week and beyond.
- 10:26[SPEAKER_02]: would prior to this game we looked at the safety unit and we said there's not much here right you have a second-year player Dante Trader who looked promising during his rookie season but he wasn't a high draft pick so they don't have a lot invested in him and he he came out he got the interception Michael Taft got an interception as well and and they played well now it was against the the corpse of Kirk Cousins you know this isn't
- 10:49[SPEAKER_02]: Kirk Cousins in his heyday and and it's gonna get tougher from here.
- 10:53[SPEAKER_02]: You got Brock Perty in week two Patrick Mahomes in week three so on and so forth as the dolphins have these second most difficult schedule on paper as we have been told ad nauseam this off season.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_02]: So
- 11:06[SPEAKER_02]: They'll take their lumps.
- 11:07[SPEAKER_02]: They will.
- 11:07[SPEAKER_02]: They certainly will.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_02]: But it was a good first game for that trio of safeties.
- 11:11[SPEAKER_02]: And I hope that it builds confidence with in them and they can carry that confidence through the rest of the season when they do face quarterbacks who are tears above Kurt Cousins current level.
- 11:24[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and I think in a game that was so full of disappointments, I think we could end the good There, uh And we'll go to break but first let me tell you about my Bookie if you were paying attention last week.
- 11:42[SPEAKER_01]: I I kind of gave us a winner
- 11:46[SPEAKER_01]: I told you to play the under in Iowa, Iowa State, and I should have told you that one too, Ralph.
- 11:54[SPEAKER_01]: Like that one, it was 40 and a half points.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_01]: And most people, when you see that it's 40 and a half points, people would say, you're suicidal if you're betting the under, they scored 29 combined.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_01]: So, thank you, Iowa.
- 12:08[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you, Iowa State.
- 12:10[SPEAKER_01]: We are two and oh, with our my bookie.
- 12:13[SPEAKER_01]: plays.
- 12:13[SPEAKER_01]: I'll give you my third one.
- 12:15[SPEAKER_01]: You know what, that's, that's, that's the goal.
- 12:18[SPEAKER_01]: I want to go 17 in all this season.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_01]: How does that sound, Mark?
- 12:22[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, I'm pretty too an up.
- 12:24[SPEAKER_01]: I think I'm headed to the playoffs.
- 12:25[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 12:27[SPEAKER_02]: We'll call you Alf Shula.
- 12:28[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm already 2 and 0.
- 12:30[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I'm definitely shooting for at least 11 and 6 this season.
- 12:33[SPEAKER_01]: But football season is finally here and Thursday Saturday Sundays and Mondays just got more interesting tonight Taylor Waddle, that's gonna be a rough watch.
- 12:43[SPEAKER_01]: I root for him, but it's gonna be a rough watch watching him and another uniform.
- 12:47[SPEAKER_01]: If you're just betting this bread before kick off, you're leaving most of the money on the table and that's why I use my bookie.

- 13:36[SPEAKER_00]: but uh, the bad.
- 13:37[SPEAKER_00]: Let's talk about the bad.
- 13:38[SPEAKER_01]: These guys spent months and an entire training camp trying to figure out how to run into lanes on special teams and my god that unit yesterday was an absolute disaster.
- 13:51[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 13:52[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 13:52[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, it was like it was fireable worthy like what are you gaining?
- 13:58[SPEAKER_01]: Like if you fired Chris table today, you could put me you could put me a coach special teams.
- 14:06[SPEAKER_01]: Put a random fan to coach special teams.
- 14:08[SPEAKER_01]: There'd be no difference, right?
- 14:10[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe they can do a raffle every week.
- 14:12[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, that will make the season really interesting, right?
- 14:15[SPEAKER_01]: Did you see what Akron did?
- 14:16[SPEAKER_01]: That they had a fan like script the first or we called the first series of the game.
- 14:22[SPEAKER_01]: Did you see that?
- 14:23[SPEAKER_02]: We're living in a simulation elf.
- 14:25[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think I think I do something like that, right?
- 14:27[SPEAKER_01]: Like at just firecracker, firecracker, and do a raffle and every week, we have a different fan coach to special teams.
- 14:35[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 14:36[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 14:36[SPEAKER_02]: Speaker of sexy.
- 14:37[SPEAKER_01]: Speaking of special teams, I guess first of all, you're thoughts on that because it was infuriating because if there's something that you would expect this team to be good at, with as many young players as it has, is to just be really disciplined on special teams and be a good kick-covered unit.
- 14:54[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and they were not.
- 14:55[SPEAKER_02]: They were not.
- 14:56[SPEAKER_02]: The Raiders had multiple kick returns, multiple long kick returns that set short fields up for a Kirk Cousins lead offense.
- 15:05[SPEAKER_02]: And he did just enough to allow the Raiders to score 27 points with those opportunities.
- 15:12[SPEAKER_02]: things like that can't happen and I know and I believe he recently Chris Taborer I think he recently said something about that unit being in flux still right and I think he was talking about the the the gunners on the point unit still kind of being in flux a little bit too and it's like
- 15:28[SPEAKER_02]: Like you said, Alph, they've had months to get this team, this special teams unit to where it needs to be to play sufficient level football, not even great football, right?
- 15:39[SPEAKER_02]: Not even like top five special teams unit football, just average level, special teams, kickoff return units, right?
- 15:46[SPEAKER_02]: That's all we're asking for and the dolphins didn't get it in week one.
- 15:50[SPEAKER_02]: They got a piss
- 15:54[SPEAKER_02]: be feeling the hot seat right now and we're heading into week two for crisis so no it was a bismal and on top of that we had a miss field goal as well so that's also the special teams unit Chris and a and a touchback to the thirty five yard line because you can't kick off or you're afraid to yeah like it's infuriating because this is these are the simple parts of the game
- 16:19[SPEAKER_01]: You know, like, if you line up across from another team and they're better than you, or, you know, they're a little bit more clever and they outsmart you, I don't, I don't know, I almost don't mind losing that way, but when you lose on just fundamentals and stupidity, it's, it's another thing and look, I'm going to say this again, I said it all off season.
- 16:40[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know why they didn't replace Riley Patterson, what's to use?
- 16:45[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I wanted to draft, I wanted to draft Trace Mac from Florida, who is now the next big thing.
- 16:52[SPEAKER_01]: But I believe he had a 58 yarder yesterday, okay, with Green Bay.
- 16:57[SPEAKER_01]: But to be fair, Green Bay drafted him in the sixth round and I wanted to use a seventh rompick on him.
- 17:02[SPEAKER_01]: Remember the dolphins had three seven rompicks?
- 17:05[SPEAKER_01]: I wanted to use one of them.
- 17:06[SPEAKER_01]: I wanted to use one of them on Trace Mac.
- 17:15[SPEAKER_02]: This is not Jason Sanders, you know, Jason Sanders was available at one point this season.
- 17:23[SPEAKER_02]: He was cut by the jets before he was brought back to, I believe, their practice squad.
- 17:27[SPEAKER_02]: So, no, I don't have confidence in Rally Patterson.
- 17:32[SPEAKER_02]: I mean,
- 17:33[SPEAKER_02]: and all honesty.
- 17:34[SPEAKER_02]: I don't have a lot of confidence in this team as a whole and nothing nothing they showed us yesterday would give us confidence in in the greater picture right of Miami Dolphins football for 2026 and that's not what it's all about.
- 17:47[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to focus on the little things.
- 17:48[SPEAKER_02]: But as far as that special teams unit go,
- 17:52[SPEAKER_02]: They're going to have to do some work this week.
- 17:53[SPEAKER_02]: They're going to have to put some time in the film room, get things cleaned up.
- 17:57[SPEAKER_02]: If that means, you know, switching players around, bringing people into the unit that aren't already there, whatever it takes to get it fixed, they're going to need to do that.
- 18:06[SPEAKER_02]: Because this team isn't strong enough everywhere else on the roster to also be weak on special teams, right?
- 18:12[SPEAKER_02]: You have to have a strength somewhere.
- 18:14[SPEAKER_02]: And for me, the easiest place to find that strength is in special teams, and that just wasn't the case this week.
- 18:21[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, not to alarm anybody, but this was a feature in Green Bay, by the way, poor special teams.
- 18:28[SPEAKER_01]: So, so maybe they've imported that here.
- 18:33[SPEAKER_01]: Which is unfortunate.
- 18:34[SPEAKER_01]: All right, let's move on from one terrible coach to another.
- 18:37[SPEAKER_01]: Bobby slow it.
- 18:38[SPEAKER_02]: My God.
- 18:39[SPEAKER_02]: That was one hell of a transition elf.
- 18:41[SPEAKER_02]: That's why you get paid the big bucks.
- 18:43[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah.
- 18:46[SPEAKER_01]: Bobby slow it.
- 18:47[SPEAKER_01]: Speaking of sitting around for months,
- 18:51[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if Bobby Slovak got the memo, but he has a $64 million running back.
- 18:55[SPEAKER_01]: I think he's aware of that.
- 18:57[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not quite sure he's aware of that because if you look at the box core HN rush the ball 11 times that's it 11 times and there was never really a point in this game where it was so far out of hand other than the last few minutes where you needed to just drop back and pass every single down but it feels like that was Bobby slowx halftime adjustment I'm just going to have Malik do five and seven set drops and just launch it thirty forty yards down the field and we'll see what happens right
- 19:27[SPEAKER_02]: Devon HN is the best player on this team, offense defense special teams.
- 19:32[SPEAKER_02]: I don't care.
- 19:32[SPEAKER_02]: Devon HN is your crown jewel.
- 19:34[SPEAKER_02]: He is your superstar.
- 19:35[SPEAKER_02]: And for him to only rush the ball 11 times after you invested your first first round pick in a mammoth left guard and then put him next to Patrick Paul, right?
- 19:45[SPEAKER_02]: And we all thought, oh, man, we're going to run the ball down.
- 19:49[SPEAKER_02]: Down teams is throats.
- 19:50[SPEAKER_01]: and and that didn't happen they ran the ball 12 times with running backs 11 with the money chain one for jail and right and that was it and it's not even the rush is okay fine you don't want to run the ball because you feel a little bit of scoreboard pressure you could throw him the football Devon 810 had three touches in the second half and at one point the score
- 20:17[SPEAKER_01]: like the games end out like you can win this game and you just decided you know we're yeah we're going to try to win but we're going to try to win it with one hand type behind our back why don't know because I didn't get that from Bobby Slowik and
- 20:35[SPEAKER_01]: Speaking of scoreboard pressure, like he was, I think Chris Kaufman said it best, he was coaching this game as if this was the Super Bowl and he was a little bit nervous like it could get away from him.
- 20:45[SPEAKER_01]: So he has to, you know, he's feeling the scoreboard pressure.
- 20:48[SPEAKER_01]: So he's going to put the ball on his quarterback's hands to try to, you know, pretty much try to get it all at once.
- 20:53[SPEAKER_01]: No, you're trying to install a culture, you're trying to install who you are.
- 20:59[SPEAKER_01]: And look, there, at one point there, I think
- 21:04[SPEAKER_01]: who said, there's about three possessions left and the dolphins are down to scores.
- 21:09[SPEAKER_01]: And I said, and I thought to myself, that's a great analysis.
- 21:13[SPEAKER_01]: Like if you're looking at that, yeah, we got three possessions left, we're down to scores.
- 21:18[SPEAKER_01]: Meaning we need to score twice in three possessions.
- 21:23[SPEAKER_01]: Simple math and maybe you gain a position by taking the ball away, which they did go away.
- 21:28[SPEAKER_01]: Dante Trader intercepted the pass.
- 21:30[SPEAKER_01]: So,
- 21:31[SPEAKER_01]: The math is there for you.
- 21:33[SPEAKER_01]: There is no reason to get away from the run.
- 21:35[SPEAKER_01]: What's love?
- 21:37[SPEAKER_02]: coaching the second half, like the dolphins were down by three touchdowns.
- 21:40[SPEAKER_02]: It never happened.
- 21:41[SPEAKER_02]: This game was within reach.
- 21:43[SPEAKER_02]: You score that that touchdown beginning in the second half.
- 21:47[SPEAKER_02]: You're down by a single score.
- 21:49[SPEAKER_02]: You're down by one touchdown.
- 21:50[SPEAKER_02]: You play opportunistic defense with a young unit.
- 21:54[SPEAKER_02]: You get that interception, like you said, with Dante Trader and you have an opportunity to go down and tie the game or take the lead.
- 22:01[SPEAKER_02]: And Bobby Sloak was calling the second half,
- 22:06[SPEAKER_02]: he got away from play action passing from rollouts.
- 22:10[SPEAKER_02]: That's Malik Willis's strength.
- 22:11[SPEAKER_02]: He does well in those situations.
- 22:13[SPEAKER_02]: He's a mobile quarterback and he throws well on the run and he wasn't allowing him to do that.
- 22:19[SPEAKER_02]: It was just straight dropbacks and just launching it down the field to receivers that
- 22:25[SPEAKER_02]: getting open, you know, at an alarmingly good rate, you know, and there was times when he had Malik Washington running deep routes down the field.
- 22:34[SPEAKER_02]: That's not his game.
- 22:35[SPEAKER_02]: He's the underneath guy.
- 22:36[SPEAKER_02]: He's the slot guy.
- 22:37[SPEAKER_02]: He's the quick guy.
- 22:37[SPEAKER_02]: Make people miss in the open field.
- 22:39[SPEAKER_02]: And he had him running deep routes down the field.
- 22:41[SPEAKER_02]: So I
- 22:42[SPEAKER_02]: of every one I was disappointed in in that game I think Bobby Slowick was my number one even more so than than Chris Tabor of all of the people players coaches who I was disappointed in I think Bobby Slowick was number one and I know that was a concern heading into this season could Bobby Slowick call a good game on offense and we didn't see that on Sunday.
- 23:04[SPEAKER_02]: We didn't see that.
- 23:12[SPEAKER_01]: Jalen Wright, what a kicker turn, what a charge he gave the team and think about it.
- 23:17[SPEAKER_01]: This team lost that game like four times within the game, like four times and I believe this was the last time they lost the game.
- 23:27[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, because I don't even count the fumble at the end of the game with Malik Washington when he catches the pass over the middle and he fumbles because that was going to be a long shot right because you need it to score right there and probably need an on-site kick to try to score again So I don't even count that one the last time the loss to the game was jail right gives you a 79 yard kick return to the 18 yard line 0 points How is that possible?
- 23:52[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, that's just something that bad football teams do and unfortunately, in 2026, the Miami dolphins are going to be a bad football team.
- 24:01[SPEAKER_02]: It is what it is, right?
- 24:02[SPEAKER_02]: You know, we can sit here and we can be mad and I'm mad and you're mad and I'm sure our listeners are mad.
- 24:07[SPEAKER_02]: We can be mad all we want, but at the end of the day, we have to remember what the focus is.
- 24:12[SPEAKER_02]: this season and Jeff Hathley has said it himself.
- 24:14[SPEAKER_02]: It's not about wins.
- 24:15[SPEAKER_02]: It's not about losses.
- 24:16[SPEAKER_02]: It's about growth.
- 24:17[SPEAKER_02]: It's about laying and setting a foundation for the future.
- 24:23[SPEAKER_02]: If Sunday was the first brick, I'm a little concerned.
- 24:26[SPEAKER_02]: Not not not the best looking brick to start your foundation with.
- 24:32[SPEAKER_01]: I like the throw brick is what I like to do.
- 24:35[SPEAKER_02]: Who are you throwing a brick at?
- 24:37[SPEAKER_01]: I write the facility at the facility and just shake my face in anger at the facility.
- 24:43[SPEAKER_02]: That's right.
- 24:43[SPEAKER_02]: That's right.
- 24:45[SPEAKER_02]: So yes, yes.
- 24:46[SPEAKER_02]: We're all frustrated.
- 24:47[SPEAKER_02]: We're all disappointed, but in the grand scheme of things, we expected.
- 24:52[SPEAKER_02]: the season to go this way, right?
- 24:54[SPEAKER_02]: We expected it to be a difficult year.
- 24:56[SPEAKER_02]: It started out with the with a difficult loss in a game where we thought we had a shot.
- 25:02[SPEAKER_02]: Spoiler alert, and I won't be here later in the week.
- 25:05[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think when we're making predictions,
- 25:09[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think it gets easier against the San Francisco 49ers who just took out the Los Angeles Rams.
- 25:14[SPEAKER_02]: Everybody's preseason darling 27 to 7 in week one.
- 25:18[SPEAKER_02]: That's right.
- 25:18[SPEAKER_02]: The Miami Dolphins outscored the Los Angeles Rams in week one.
- 25:23[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 25:23[SPEAKER_02]: And we got to face George Kittle and Christian McCaffrey and Deepo Samuel and Mike Evans and Brock Perti is a pretty good point guard at quarterback as well.
- 25:31[SPEAKER_02]: So it could be a rough week and Vegas thinks so too.
- 25:35[SPEAKER_02]: I believe the dolphins are
- 25:36[SPEAKER_02]: was at 13 and a half 14 point underdogs heading into that one 13 on that point.
- 25:42[SPEAKER_02]: That is the largest spread of any game in the week two slate so far so Get ready for more of the same dolphins fans.
- 25:49[SPEAKER_02]: It's going to be a rough year, but hopefully Hopefully they are what it can Cameron say.
- 25:55[SPEAKER_02]: We're we're failing word for us.
- 26:00[SPEAKER_02]: Let's hope we're doing that.
- 26:01[SPEAKER_01]: When he said that when he said that, I wanted to jump out of a window.
- 26:04[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I swear to God.
- 26:06[SPEAKER_01]: Like there's certain things you just don't say you don't want to hear.
- 26:09[SPEAKER_01]: And I've heard that I've heard that same before a million times failing forward fast.
- 26:14[SPEAKER_01]: Meaning just get all your mistakes out of the way first, you know what I mean?
- 26:17[SPEAKER_01]: But you just don't want to hear that.
- 26:18[SPEAKER_01]: No, you don't.
- 26:21[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, we're going to end it right here.
- 26:22[SPEAKER_01]: Later on this week, we will preview 49er's dolphins.
- 26:27[SPEAKER_01]: Look on the bright side guys.
- 26:29[SPEAKER_01]: You could be waking up today, a charger friend.
- 26:32[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 26:34[SPEAKER_01]: Alright guys, see you later at Cardiff's page.
- 26:37[SPEAKER_02]: You know who you are, peace.
- 26:46[SPEAKER_00]: Welcome to Three Yards Perkati, a podcast covering the Miami Dolphins and the NFL.
