Latest / 3 Yards Per Carry - Miami Dolphins / 3YPC-The Low Redzone Episode 1.8
Transcript
- 0:10[SPEAKER_01]: Welcome to the low red zone drive show with me Simon Clancy and it's always my special guest car crabs from eight to z sports.
- 0:16[SPEAKER_01]: Good morning mate.
- 0:17[SPEAKER_01]: How are you?
- 0:18[SPEAKER_03]: I'm doing great.
- 0:19[SPEAKER_03]: We're, uh, lesson what five weeks away from the only 26 and a field draft.
- 0:24[SPEAKER_03]: So we're rocking a roll.
- 0:26[SPEAKER_01]: We are 34 days away from round one.
- 0:29[SPEAKER_01]: The pretty season is well underway.
- 0:31[SPEAKER_01]: We'll get some of that.
- 0:33[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to start kicking into our position groups as we build up to that opening night on April the 23rd.
- 0:38[SPEAKER_01]: Butts made.
- 0:38[SPEAKER_01]: We had a blockbuster trade this week.
- 0:40[SPEAKER_01]: So the Dolphins pick up another first round picking 30th overall, trade with the Denver Broncos.
- 0:46[SPEAKER_01]: But while you see with Jalen Waddle, the dolphin's now have seven picks in the first 94, we'll come to that in a sec.
- 0:52[SPEAKER_01]: Well, what sort of flexibility do you think that gives new general manager, John Eric Sullivan, in terms of getting hold of that, that second first ramp pick?
- 0:59[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it's really, it's going to be really interesting to see how the board falls for them at 11 and, you know, all of this draft capital is great.
- 1:08[SPEAKER_03]: But I think the way that you maximize it in a way you really live up to talking about building up the infrastructure of around the team, which is what he said with his introductory presser.
- 1:18[SPEAKER_03]: You've got to kind of have that rolling surplus, right?
- 1:21[SPEAKER_03]: So how do you take some of these 11 picks now?
- 1:26[SPEAKER_03]: Can you find some premium assets to add to the 2027 pile simultaneously?
- 1:32[SPEAKER_03]: I think that is if they stuck in pick that all seven of these spots in the top 100, I think it would be great.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_03]: They need that, they need that kind of infusion of young town on the roster.
- 1:44[SPEAKER_03]: but depending on like you get another bite of the apple to try to do that at 30 now, but 11 is a blue chip guy there then stay in pick and then really try to move down from from 30.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_03]: Do you not like what's there at 11?
- 1:55[SPEAKER_03]: Maybe you can move down significantly and you still have a first round pick with a fifth year option to work with.
- 1:59[SPEAKER_03]: So just to your point of that word flexibility, take talent as it comes to you but keep in the back of your mind if you're in Miami fan.
- 2:09[SPEAKER_03]: I think that
- 2:10[SPEAKER_03]: You know, it really be hoves not just a one-off of surplus talent, you've got to turn this into not just a one-year war chest, you've got to try to find some ways to give yourself surplus for flexibility and future years, too.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, absolutely.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_01]: I listen to Jordan Rodrig on the NFL Daily podcast with Greg Rosenthal this morning, and Jordan was calling it a speed rebuild, which is kind of what it is, I think, for the dolphins.
- 2:33[SPEAKER_01]: And
- 2:34[SPEAKER_01]: But I don't think Dolphins fans should necessarily think, I don't know what you believe, but I don't think they should think that a speedroof rebuild just means this year.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_01]: If you end up getting extra high value picks in 2027, which we all think is gonna be a draft for the ages as it stands now, that's also part of that speedroof.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_01]: It's okay to kick the can down the road for 12 months, if you feel like you're gonna get a really good pick for what could be a significantly better player in a year's time, because these rebuilds, this is not gonna happen overnight for the Miami Dolphins, is it?
- 3:04[SPEAKER_03]: No, and you know, speed rebuild, I think some of the phrasing there is that's why you take a NFL record 180 something million dollars in dead cap is what this is going to be what it's all said and done and you'll probably have some guys that you gave some guaranteed money to
- 3:19[SPEAKER_03]: That don't make the 53-man roster and then there's gonna be a little bit more so he'd like you might be pushing 190 million dollars in that cap when it's all said and done one a three hundred million dollar cap So we're 60 percent already so when you take that much of it now like I think a speed rebuild You know adding Malik Willis and then being that aggressive to offload money or offload cap debt I should say Certainly qualifies for how Jordan bucket it in that regard now.
- 3:44[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think that means in 2027.
- 3:46[SPEAKER_03]: It's Super Bowl or Buster
- 3:47[SPEAKER_03]: You got to put the timelines on the success element of it because you've got to develop the players, but they are not being shy about this is what we need to do to get ourselves in position of the success.
- 3:57[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm 100% I'm intrigued by this 30th overall pick as well at the dolphins have because it feels to me like.
- 4:03[SPEAKER_01]: Much like it was for the Ravens a few years ago, and I traded back into the first round to take the Mar Jackson and feels like it could be a potential landing spot for Tyson's and for a team looking to deal up to get that 50 that you just mentioned there.
- 4:13[SPEAKER_01]: Do you think that's a viable proposition for a team like the Arizona Cardinals, the Cleveland Browns, potentially a Todd Munk and that relationship with Tyson's that he has?
- 4:22[SPEAKER_01]: It feels like it could be a landing spot for the Alabama QB.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I think the question with that one and I think the thing that the dolphins have working in their favor is it feels like there's a lot of teams that want to come down.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, in the 20s right there's a lot of teams that we're probably love to slide back and get more bites.
- 4:40[SPEAKER_03]: I think about buffalo at 26 right and that was the slot where the Jackson dark you'll have in last year.
- 4:48[SPEAKER_03]: When the giants came back up into the first round.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_03]: Buffalo that they had such a Sean McDermit coded personnel group with their defense and they finally made the change, right?
- 5:01[SPEAKER_03]: They they they move on from McDermit.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_03]: They they bring in Jim Leonard as the defense of court air.
- 5:06[SPEAKER_03]: That's a really different DNA for what you're looking for on defense and they've got all these draft picks that they had invested in kind of the vision of of a McDermit defense and you've kind of started to see some of the transition stuff for them.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_03]: I'm sure they would love nothing more than to get, especially as a team that's way up there in cast spending, they've been close, they're trying to get a breakthrough, like I'm sure they would love to move down and get extra picks.
- 5:31[SPEAKER_03]: Miami being at 30 means you can probably
- 5:36[SPEAKER_03]: Have the default preferred three to spot because you still get the first round pick, but the cash is lower and the cost to move up is going to be less.
- 5:44[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 5:45[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, if you're competing with these other teams in the 20s that all want to come down.
- 5:50[SPEAKER_03]: Knowing that, hey, just make sure you call us before you finalize anything because we might be able to get you better deal because you don't have to go up to 26.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_03]: You only have to go up to 30.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_03]: I think that's what works in their favor in that fun.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and I think it's interesting when you, whatever kind of nomenclature we use for what the dolphins are trying to do in terms of speed rebuild or whatever, tanking, managing decline, et cetera, et cetera, 7 picks in the first 93, 94 foot for a new general manager like John Eric Sullivan, that's a, it's a hell of a moment for a first year GM as an annoying
- 6:26[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_03]: And moving like a high self-esteem franchise, right?
- 6:31[SPEAKER_03]: Like moving with confidence and condition of trade jail and model.
- 6:35[SPEAKER_03]: You know, we're going to offload these contracts.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_03]: And I think that was something that kind of bit that franchise in the rear end with the last bill was there was still a little bit of like the.
- 6:46[SPEAKER_03]: I can't believe attitude with we got talent like we really need this talent even though we quit halfway through a week 18 game and told us he wanted to get traded we're going to make it work and it didn't work um so i think the willingness to say hey man this is what we're trying to do we're going to go for and when we say we're going to rebuild through the draft watch watch how
- 7:12[SPEAKER_03]: To make this thing happen and I think the biggest challenge with that is that just the fact that you know the a lot of the really the whole organization from a scouting perspective the people that are helping to execute that.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_03]: We're not the people that John Erick Sullivan started this year's drafts like a whip because he was in Green Bay, right?
- 7:32[SPEAKER_03]: So you're hired in January for scouting staff that was scouting certain criteria, and now you're changing the criteria, that's the thing that they have to guard rail against.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_03]: And I asked John Erick Sullivan about that at the combine, said, you know, that falls on me.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_03]: You know, that's my responsibility to make sure there's a very clear understanding of what it is that we're looking for and what our expectations are.
- 7:56[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, fans out Bullwerre is really the only kind of
- 7:59[SPEAKER_01]: in terms of scalp faces that he's brought in.
- 8:02[SPEAKER_01]: Staying with Miami, the canes, not the dolphins at this point.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_01]: It's the Miami Pro Day on Monday.
- 8:08[SPEAKER_01]: And we could be about to get what feels like a very definitive ruling as it were on whether or not the combine got its measurements wrong.
- 8:17[SPEAKER_01]: Because Ruben Bane, he of the tiny arms, will get re-measured in coral gables on Monday.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_01]: Why is this a thing, you know,
- 8:27[SPEAKER_01]: Utah Spence of Fano yesterday at the Utah Pro Day, his arms measured 32 and 18 inches.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sorry, they were measured at 32 and 18 inches at the combine, and then re-measured yesterday in Salt Lake City and his arms gained almost an inch in length.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_01]: How are we getting this?
- 8:46[SPEAKER_01]: How are we getting this so wrong in 2026?
- 8:48[SPEAKER_01]: This is because you know
- 8:51[SPEAKER_01]: what would be the impact of Bain Rocks up on Monday and is out to you.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, when they're measured at 30 and 78th inches that they were in India, I mean, it's a too heavy question.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_01]: A, why are we getting this wrong and B, what's the knock on effect for Bain?
- 9:05[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I want to I have to imagine there's somebody in the league offices that is aware of who the new hire is that's helping with the process and indeed and they just don't want to name a name or they don't want to throw anybody under the bus, but I mean these last two years there's there's just been like.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_03]: frankly, an unacceptable amount of variance versus once you get with with the standard measurements.
- 9:28[SPEAKER_03]: And this is not like an individual case of, oh, Kyler Murray didn't get his height taken and got it taken at the pro-day and they gave him a favorable measurement on his height measurement.
- 9:39[SPEAKER_03]: But like it's not like that, it's, it's every guy, so I think you can look at the commonality across all of these players and say, hey, you know, whatever.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_03]: Recent changes have been made at the NFL combine for measurements.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_03]: We need to circle back to how that is being taken and reconcile it with how it's being taken everywhere else.
- 10:06[SPEAKER_03]: I think for being at the end of the day, teams that bring them in for workouts, they know, right?
- 10:12[SPEAKER_03]: Like they'll get that information themselves with their own people that do it.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_03]: And then we'll have the publicly reported one at the pro day.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_03]: And I didn't care if it was frankly 31 in charms, because of the way that he plays.
- 10:25[SPEAKER_03]: I still see the leverage in
- 10:28[SPEAKER_03]: the the jolt with his hands and he's he's always going to be a phone booth player.
- 10:32[SPEAKER_03]: Now if he was 35's versus 31's like that's a huge difference.
- 10:37[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 10:37[SPEAKER_03]: But for me, I don't think the teams are going to really seem any differently.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_03]: It's just us on the in the public scope, like riding the yo-yo as it goes up and down.
- 10:45[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and what was interesting as well is that there were certainly teams in the aftermath of that measurement and you obviously were there.
- 10:51[SPEAKER_01]: But there were teams or at least whispers of teams saying that they believed that they had his arm length longer.
- 10:58[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I've missed as me in primarily to say that the hurricanes believe that at Bainsans are a full one and a half inches longer than they were.
- 11:07[SPEAKER_01]: And I mean even last night I was doing the draft book measurements and just going through
- 11:10[SPEAKER_01]: the combine measurements and putting them in and just checking and double checking and I've got them right and and even guys that were at the senior bowl compared to the combine yeah there was significant differences between the and it just yeah I mean I just don't understand how we continue to
- 11:24[SPEAKER_01]: to get this one wrong.
- 11:25[SPEAKER_01]: When it comes to wrong things, I'd like to put the University of Washington and some of their players, or at least some of the people that are advising some of their players into this kind of bucket of bucket of vomit in the part as part of the pre-drive process.
- 11:40[SPEAKER_01]: What did you make of the fact that neither Jonah Coleman or Denzel Washington tested at the UW Pro Day this week?
- 11:46[SPEAKER_01]: To the point where teams now will not really have any idea
- 11:50[SPEAKER_01]: The full testing drill data in terms of the 40s and the explosive data and those sorts of things that come with some of the jumps.
- 11:57[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it's um, it's part of the game that this process ends up becoming with representation and you know, both of those positions, if you are the third player in that bucket or if you are the eighth player in that bucket, that could be a big deal, right, that can really be a dramatic difference, especially at running back where the second player is maybe, and I know we'll talk about
- 12:27[SPEAKER_03]: maybe a second round picked for the second player like I would say probably a third round draft choice for the second running back off the board.
- 12:33[SPEAKER_03]: So if now if you're not running back six where does that put you as compared to my tape is my tape, grade me off my tape, I'm running back three.
- 12:42[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, right.
- 12:43[SPEAKER_03]: Now I think you can read between the lines and understand why they would be getting recommendations to not to not do the testing is the testing's not very good, right?
- 12:54[SPEAKER_03]: And you know, they'll have the other side of their mouth to talk out of to say, look, I didn't spend my whole life learning how to play football to learn how to train to run a 40 and do a vertical jump for.
- 13:07[SPEAKER_03]: eight weeks or 12 weeks and then, you know, lose that time to continue getting better at my craft and football player.
- 13:14[SPEAKER_03]: So everybody's going to have their own different reaction to it.
- 13:18[SPEAKER_03]: But when you want to have as much data with historical backing to make these educated decisions, having incomplete profiles across the board, for some teams, I guarantee you it will hurt them.
- 13:32[SPEAKER_03]: And it's just, do you find the one that is unbothered by it?
- 13:37[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we talked post-conline about the multitude of players that didn't work out the percentages per position of which those work out numbers had fallen, but historically it's always been the player will then go to his pro-day and with conditions that they believe suits better, the environment that they believe suits better, what they want to do.
- 13:57[SPEAKER_01]: But we're seeing more and more of these Peter Woods not running, all of these did we?
- 14:01[SPEAKER_01]: Do you think this is a trend moving forward as well?
- 14:04[SPEAKER_01]: Or is this just an anomaly?
- 14:06[SPEAKER_03]: This is absolutely a trend, I think, and I don't know how you combat it until the entire league universally looks at it and says, that's a punishable offense.
- 14:18[SPEAKER_03]: We're not going to draft these high, right?
- 14:19[SPEAKER_03]: Like because the reinforcement has just been
- 14:22[SPEAKER_03]: You go back to COVID, right, guys, opting to sit out of total seasons of play, um, electively choosing to say, I'm just going to get ready for the draft.
- 14:33[SPEAKER_03]: And those guys, and a lot of them had success.
- 14:37[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, about Jamar Chase and Penny, Swool and like those, those guys all were very successful.
- 14:43[SPEAKER_03]: College players still got drafted in the top eight, and then have been phenomenal pro players.
- 14:49[SPEAKER_03]: But when that,
- 14:52[SPEAKER_03]: What's the what's the saying?
- 14:54[SPEAKER_03]: You want to treat everybody fairly, but not everybody equally.
- 14:57[SPEAKER_03]: Right.
- 14:58[SPEAKER_03]: Jamar chase and pen a stool being able to do that is a testament to how talented they are, but when you're not in that threshold and you start doing those things, expecting the same results, I think teams have to start reacting a little differently to it, instead of treating everybody equally.
- 15:17[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and we had this conversation doing around Jamaal McCoy and sitting out all of last year, A in part to recover from the injury, but then even when he was healthy decided not to play in the comparisons between what happened in COVID, but then soul and chase worked out.
- 15:31[SPEAKER_01]: McCoy didn't work out the combine and he kind of you really list what if he pulls a hamstring at the, you know, it's pro day or, you know, it's just, you're kind of limiting those, those opportunities I before we get to the break.
- 15:43[SPEAKER_01]: We haven't been able to do a prospect of the week for last quarter weeks because of all the things that we've been going on, but.
- 15:48[SPEAKER_01]: Who've you got for us this week?
- 15:49[SPEAKER_01]: Who is your prospect of the week?
- 15:51[SPEAKER_03]: My prospect of the week is my CB2, the 26 NFL draft Brandon Csay from South Carolina he's and he's at the light to watch.
- 16:04[SPEAKER_03]: I was very and buzzy player.
- 16:07[SPEAKER_03]: So South Carolina's got my hearts between kill gore and now Csay they got he got two guys that are like, oh my my guys list, but.
- 16:13[SPEAKER_03]: Junior corner, 20 years old, six foot, 189, has some alignment stuff.
- 16:20[SPEAKER_03]: When they when they would get nub, when teams would come out and just it would just be a tight end, they'd have a coverage check at times where they'd bring the safety down and some of their main coverage stuff, and they played CSA on the roof, and he'd be the I safety.
- 16:33[SPEAKER_03]: Inside outside flexibility, I think he's really aggressive.
- 16:37[SPEAKER_03]: He had at the company.
- 16:39[SPEAKER_03]: He had the 41 inch vert, and I think what was at the 10-11 broad jump, so very dynamic numbers for him.
- 16:48[SPEAKER_03]: I'm impressed by his from a zone coverage standpoint, the way that he leverages his landmarks across multiple routes to be in a position to attack and I think he's transitionally fluid enough and twitchy enough to to drive and attack on, you know, multiple targets that are he that he's kind of leveraging his landmarks against.
- 17:07[SPEAKER_03]: Um, not always the most sticky on like hard angled routes in main coverage, but you see the ability to disrupt and press and flip and carry and get down field.
- 17:18[SPEAKER_03]: I know the big not going to him is ball production.
- 17:20[SPEAKER_03]: I think that'll count duties toward 20 years old.
- 17:23[SPEAKER_03]: So like I'm really buying on like,
- 17:26[SPEAKER_03]: physical profile, impressive football like you, speedy games not too fast, diverse player, supports the run.
- 17:35[SPEAKER_03]: I like just about everything I saw with him.
- 17:39[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think what stands out for me especially as a young corner.
- 17:45[SPEAKER_01]: This is Fearlessness in the run game.
- 17:47[SPEAKER_01]: He almost support the run like a box safety, like an alley run like this is kind of a plus run support, which I find really intriguing for a guy of his age.
- 17:56[SPEAKER_01]: And I think you almost mature into some of the other things that you, the downsides, if you will, that you talked about in terms of maybe a little bit the route recognition in terms of the ball production, those sorts of things.
- 18:07[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think it's interesting that you've got Miss CB2 as well.
- 18:10[SPEAKER_01]: Is that a recent, is that just as you're drawing the final kind of strings on your on your purpose?
- 18:17[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, so with what I'm doing with A to Z sports this year, obviously I'm doing all the macro draft stuff, but I haven't been given the assignment of right the grades and the reports for every single player across the draft
- 18:37[SPEAKER_03]: right as many as you can between August 15th and the day before the draft.
- 18:43[SPEAKER_03]: Get as many end on and I did like 360 last year.
- 18:46[SPEAKER_03]: So this year it's been much more macro prospect ranking.
- 18:51[SPEAKER_03]: So I'm I'm watching these guys.
- 18:52[SPEAKER_03]: I have the notes on them.
- 18:54[SPEAKER_03]: But I'm only really now in the process of like finalizing everybody's grade, putting numbers on the traits and and I wait traits differently.
- 19:02[SPEAKER_03]: So you do that that data entry for players individually once you're like I've
- 19:07[SPEAKER_03]: my athletic testing, my pro-day testing, whatever.
- 19:10[SPEAKER_03]: And I finalized him on Wednesday with his final grade, and he came in with a first round grade for me.
- 19:17[SPEAKER_03]: So he's a top 16 player in the classroom with this year's class.
- 19:21[SPEAKER_01]: Nice.
- 19:21[SPEAKER_01]: I saw a really good quote about him, which was, and I was just trying to search for it there where you're talking.
- 19:26[SPEAKER_01]: You drafting more for tomorrow's tools and not for today's
- 19:34[SPEAKER_03]: even still while acknowledging I think is tapes pretty good like it's it's not like he's this rough around the edges.
- 19:43[SPEAKER_03]: Kind of got the blinders on or he gets the deer in the headlights and freezes type stuff but you absolutely I think you you've got.
- 19:53[SPEAKER_03]: outside corner traits that are going to play in any system, and I think when you really let them settle in, I think he is prime for a very successful NFL career.
- 20:06[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so strong gain coach secondary as well when he throwing.
- 20:09[SPEAKER_01]: kill Goro as well, you're demon warring the year before it's, they know what to do on the back end there.
- 20:14[SPEAKER_01]: I am, I have been doing safeties for the draft book finishing up my final position and I'm gonna, I'm gonna, my prospect is a guy who I think probably both of us have been writing scouting reports about since about 2016 for about a year now, which is J.J. on Catalan.
- 20:31[SPEAKER_01]: who, I mean, I'm pretty sure as a red shirt, sophomore, I was writing scatry reports for it, but maybe you could pretty come over it, it's that weird.
- 20:39[SPEAKER_01]: He's had six season the SEC, four with Arkansas, one extra Texas, one with Missouri this year, season that UNLV in 2024, and obviously some significant injury histories, which is why he's a seventh year senior.
- 20:54[SPEAKER_01]: But just a really, really, every time it's on the field, and you watch a team that he's playing with, he's just really good.
- 21:02[SPEAKER_01]: He's just a standout player, a consistent force as a player, and the age thing, I think he's gonna be 25 this season, which isn't super, super old or older players in this draft, certainly.
- 21:13[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, he just turned 25 this week.
- 21:16[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, okay, great, yeah.
- 21:18[SPEAKER_01]: He is locked in, but I just think,
- 21:20[SPEAKER_01]: You know, he tore his ACL and his first game was a senior in high school, still was recruited, you know, by Alabama, Georgia, you know, everybody was in for him ended up going to Arkansas, but he's just tough, he's explosive, he's physical, I think he does his best work kind of triggering down into the box and bringing you, you know, a load to the, that second level in terms of hitting power, but I think he's quick, he's got really good movement skills, he can get outside, he can turn and run, he
- 21:46[SPEAKER_01]: I think he plays well in zone.
- 21:47[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think there's a safety that reads a quarterback's eyes better.
- 21:51[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe AJ Halsy, Lewis Moore, maybe a little bit, but I just think the way he reads and reacts.
- 21:58[SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, the ACL, he's had shoulder injuries, he's had season ending, shoulder surgery, you know, lower leg issue in 23, three-roomest multiple games.
- 22:08[SPEAKER_01]: But I just think with a player with his trigger to come downhill to hit, but also to have the instincts he has in zone.
- 22:14[SPEAKER_01]: You know, you're affected all the talent with the age and with the injuries.
- 22:19[SPEAKER_01]: I just think that's a, you know, for a team that's comfortable in its own skin, taking a chance on a guy in the third round.
- 22:25[SPEAKER_01]: In the third day that could just come in and, you know, pick up a system really quickly because God, he's picked up about 40 systems since he's very colleague.
- 22:35[SPEAKER_01]: I think he, if he stays healthy or is healthy as possible, he's an easy starter for a team, you know, on the third day.
- 22:44[SPEAKER_01]: talking about the injuries, I think he's a top 40, top 50 player in this draft if you remove, you know, that's, if Martin had bullshit with Mark or but, you know, he has had the injuries, but still, I think you're looking at a top 40, top 50 player if you can remove those things.
- 23:01[SPEAKER_01]: I'm a fan of Catalan and if you can stay healthy, I think he's he can do some things for a team.
- 23:08[SPEAKER_03]: This is this is how long he's been in college.
- 23:10[SPEAKER_03]: I actually forgot about the Texas year.
- 23:12[SPEAKER_03]: He said Texas like really.
- 23:15[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, yeah, he did play Texas 20 23 was his Texas.
- 23:18[SPEAKER_03]: Today's a big day for him because the Missouri pro days today as we were.
- 23:23[SPEAKER_03]: That'll be a nice chance for him in a really good safety group to, you know, if you can come out and test well and and pair that with the obvious maturity that he has as a 25 year old guy coming out.
- 23:35[SPEAKER_03]: I could see.
- 23:37[SPEAKER_03]: I feel like fifth round is probably like the right intersection of associated risk and upside and that comes with good testing.
- 23:48[SPEAKER_03]: So this will be a good day for him today to kind of put that last exclamation point on his college career.
- 23:52[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so I'm just, I've just quit a search Missouri, probably I can see if any of the if we're underway or but there's nothing yet, but maybe we'll get something for the end of the uh, for the end of the show.
- 24:03[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 24:04[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, I want to tell you about mold core environmental, they are sound Florida's most trusted mold inspection experts.
- 24:09[SPEAKER_01]: If you're home or office smells musty or you're worried about what might be hiding behind the walls, the mold core gives you real answers.

- 24:33[SPEAKER_01]: That's 9-5-4-709-2-9-9-8.
- 24:35[SPEAKER_01]: And here's a good friend of yours, Alf.
- 24:39[SPEAKER_01]: He's going to pay some more bills for us.
- 24:42[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, I will.
- 24:43[SPEAKER_00]: And that will be with underdog who will be with us.
- 24:46[SPEAKER_00]: And this is guaranteed by the way.
- 24:47[SPEAKER_00]: I know I've been saying other people I've been with us for for the entire year or will be with us for the entire year, but underdog is confirmed to be with us for the entirety of 2026.
- 24:57[SPEAKER_00]: The tournament is back and upsets are inevitable.
- 25:00[SPEAKER_00]: Let's hope that the first one is not number seven.
- 25:02[SPEAKER_00]: Miami going down to number 10, Missouri.
- 25:04[SPEAKER_00]: That's tonight a 10 PM Eastern should be a lot of fun.
- 25:08[SPEAKER_00]: But underdog is the best place to get in on all the action.
- 25:10[SPEAKER_00]: Plain on underdog is easy.
- 25:12[SPEAKER_00]: Just pick whether your favorite player will go higher or lower on stats like points, rebounds, steels, and more.
- 25:17[SPEAKER_00]: Can you fix right?
- 25:18[SPEAKER_00]: You could win up to 5,000 times your cash.
- 25:22[SPEAKER_00]: I'm a big fan of Arkansas and I understand I'm a hurricanes fan,
- 25:27[SPEAKER_00]: I'm a pretty big fan of Arkansas and Iowa State in this tournament.
- 25:30[SPEAKER_00]: I think they will go deep.
- 25:32[SPEAKER_00]: Make your plays accordingly.

- 25:45[SPEAKER_00]: Make picks win money.
- 25:48[SPEAKER_02]: B18 plus.
- 25:48[SPEAKER_02]: 19 plus in Alabama in Nebraska.

- 26:26[SPEAKER_01]: Thanks, Alf.
- 26:27[SPEAKER_01]: Right, teams are beginning to round their boards into shape, Carl and I, doing the same thing.
- 26:33[SPEAKER_01]: As you've heard in the first half, Carl especially is kind of in that home straight now.
- 26:36[SPEAKER_01]: So we're going to look at a couple of the position groups, each week now as we get closer and closer to the draft.
- 26:40[SPEAKER_01]: And we'll kick off this week with quarterbacks and running backs and we've discussed quarterbacks a little bit, Carl in earlier, in earlier shows.
- 26:47[SPEAKER_01]: But wherever you landed finally on this class, as you put the bow on your top 50 in your kind of groupings,
- 26:55[SPEAKER_03]: I'm gonna answer your question with a question.
- 26:58[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 26:58[SPEAKER_03]: I wanna know how many quarterbacks you have graded in the first two days of this year's class.
- 27:04[SPEAKER_03]: Four, four.
- 27:06[SPEAKER_03]: I have three and one is on the doorstep.
- 27:09[SPEAKER_03]: So I'll give you, I have, it's a top five, but a tie for five.
- 27:16[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 27:16[SPEAKER_03]: I think guys that I have.
- 27:17[SPEAKER_03]: So I have Fernando Mendoza obviously Indiana is my top rated quarterback I do a first round grade on him.
- 27:23[SPEAKER_03]: Ty Simpson, University of Alabama.
- 27:27[SPEAKER_03]: I have a early two evaluation on him.
- 27:31[SPEAKER_03]: I would expect, you know, I do think somebody will probably come up and get the fifth year option for him if it's not Cleveland at 24 or somebody like that that takes him.
- 27:39[SPEAKER_03]: And then I have coal pateness, my third quarterback.
- 27:42[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 27:43[SPEAKER_03]: I have a third round grade on him.
- 27:45[SPEAKER_03]: It's kind of a weird window to draft quarterbacks, because usually the day two guys, if you like them, you're going to take them early because they're in the man.
- 27:54[SPEAKER_03]: But I think there's enough kind of
- 27:57[SPEAKER_03]: questions with like a limited sample size of starts with the left handedness and the unorthodox release and the level of competition that I could see like some teams showing a little bit more restraint as compared to saying, hey, we're going to get this kind of top 40 really starting quarterback.
- 28:17[SPEAKER_03]: Then I have Drew Aller as my first day three quarterback.
- 28:22[SPEAKER_03]: Just
- 28:23[SPEAKER_03]: The more I watched it, the more I was like, there's something here, but this offense is a tire fire.
- 28:30[SPEAKER_03]: Like, it was what is JTO Sullivan, I had finalized mine, and then I saw JTO Sullivan from QB school, had put out like three Geralor tapes on his, his,
- 28:44[SPEAKER_03]: his Patreon community and I'm not going to take anything from the content, but the the phrasing that he uses for like trick formations and stuff is trick them dick them and it was like every play is this like.
- 28:58[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, we're going to have a quad's bunch over here and then we're going to shift Aller and we're going to direct snap to the running back and like power reads with the quarterback with a zone read off of it and just not a lot of trends, lateable stuff.
- 29:15[SPEAKER_03]: And I'm like, there's something here to work with.
- 29:18[SPEAKER_03]: And yes, he makes some decisions that take time.
- 29:21[SPEAKER_03]: And yes, he doesn't always look like he's confident.
- 29:24[SPEAKER_03]: And the footwork's a mess at times.
- 29:26[SPEAKER_03]: And the accuracy's all over the place as a result.
- 29:29[SPEAKER_03]: But can we just get up and take some like gun three footwork and throw and rip some routes instead of like it felt like they didn't trust anybody don't win anything on the perimeter in this office?
- 29:40[SPEAKER_03]: So, Alar on the traits, I see something there to work with, but I acknowledge it's probably a high variance outcome that he ends up being my QB4 and I have a fourth round grade on him.
- 29:52[SPEAKER_03]: And then two players that physically could not be any more different if they tried in tail and green and Garrett Nussmire are tied with my fifth best quarterback reading the class.
- 30:04[SPEAKER_01]: I'm glad to see you're still in the Nussbars, given that's where we kicked off this thing
- 30:10[SPEAKER_01]: to talk about court backs that you haven't fallen off the, uh, last month.
- 30:13[SPEAKER_03]: No, I'm, I'm, the, the buses still stay home.
- 30:17[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, we need, we need to way more than 202, but I think you, you, you could transplant the way in which he sees the game as the coaches son into a lot of the other physical profiles of the other quarterbacks in the class.
- 30:34[SPEAKER_03]: And I think you'd have a really good player.
- 30:35[SPEAKER_03]: So like just from that baseline, like,
- 30:39[SPEAKER_03]: I think Nusmire has the makings of a career back up in the league that can get you through some stretches as a starter, but concerned about the durability, concerned about the arm strength, concerned about the size, concerned about the lack of outside of structure, appeal, that if you stack weight on, how much more stationary is it going to be?
- 30:58[SPEAKER_03]: So, yeah, I think he's an asset to a quarterback, or I just don't think he's a super high asset as like a starting quarterback.
- 31:03[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I've got to say in order of the first three certainly, I think like you, I think Simpson will end up in the first round.
- 31:11[SPEAKER_01]: I'm high on pay and I like him a lot.
- 31:15[SPEAKER_01]: one of the scout early in the season told me to start looking harder at Payton and I just found his tape really fascinating, really intriguing.
- 31:24[SPEAKER_01]: He was able to throw the ball, I think more licensed throw down field than in previous North Dakota State Offences, you know, when you think about guys like East and Steak and Trail Arts, you think of the
- 31:34[SPEAKER_01]: huge lack of, you know, just throwing the ball that Tray Lance had in terms of his college career, albeit still within the confines of a, you know, a run-first attack, but I just think there's so much compelling stuff on there, the smart decisions with the ball, the arm, just a physical talent, and yes, I get that it's at a lower level.
- 31:55[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't have thus my in fourth and allow in fifth, I think the thing that concerns me with allow and you're right about the trace, obviously right about the trace and it's the same thing about tail and green, the traits are there.
- 32:07[SPEAKER_01]: Just the thing with allow that concerns me is that
- 32:10[SPEAKER_01]: There were just so many of the easier throws on tape.
- 32:15[SPEAKER_01]: I just found really that just left me with questions.
- 32:18[SPEAKER_01]: And I thought you started really slowly in 2025, when you really wanted to kind of burst out the gate because you know, people talking this time last year or just before this time last year, was it going to be a first round pit?
- 32:27[SPEAKER_01]: Was he not?
- 32:27[SPEAKER_01]: And you know, if he comes out, he's going to go in the first round, then he decides to go back.
- 32:32[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if you watch the Villanova game, but the Villanova tape is one of the weirdest, there's some really, really, I'd be stuff on there.
- 32:41[SPEAKER_01]: And just the overall kind of generating fewer explosives before the injury, whilst putting the ball up for grabs even more,
- 32:49[SPEAKER_01]: But again, this is a kid.
- 32:51[SPEAKER_01]: He's a baby.
- 32:52[SPEAKER_01]: He's 22 or he's just turned 22.
- 32:56[SPEAKER_01]: He rebuild his entire throwing motion, his technique during COVID.
- 32:59[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think the footwork thing is necessarily paid off from, as you pointed out.
- 33:03[SPEAKER_01]: And I kind of obviously wish that the ankle hadn't have happened for obvious reasons, but also just so that we can evaluate him a bit more as he came down the stretch.
- 33:10[SPEAKER_01]: So I thought he paid really well down the stretch in 24 as well.
- 33:12[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 33:13[SPEAKER_01]: And there's a kind of a joe flaccoy, drew blood, so he kind of thing to his game, and I think there are, you know, he's traitsy, like you say, and that to me.
- 33:26[SPEAKER_01]: I just think some of the things that, you know, the inability to throw the ball to target, moving away from him, I thought was was an issue on his tape, and, you know, the muddying of the pocket,
- 33:38[SPEAKER_01]: concerned me in terms of how he reacted and he tends just to speed up his game in a muddy pocket rather than kind of slow it down, you know, when you look at someone like Mendoza who's so good against the blitz, the opposite, really, I think you could say about you could say about Joella.
- 33:53[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I think he makes life harder than it needs to be on himself.
- 33:56[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and that's where for me it was a
- 34:02[SPEAKER_03]: Again, hi, hi variants, but I give a, I give a kid some grace when we come out and we, we run the same four concepts over and you're getting no winners and like the villain, oh, a game right like.
- 34:17[SPEAKER_03]: It felt like they were.
- 34:20[SPEAKER_03]: as a whole, not just to build an old game.
- 34:22[SPEAKER_03]: It felt like they were an offense that still wanted to do a lot of the things that it did the previous year when Tyler Warren was there.
- 34:29[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 34:30[SPEAKER_03]: But Tyler Warren wasn't there to make it go.
- 34:33[SPEAKER_03]: And it was like this, this just feels like a soulless offensive experience.
- 34:38[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, with an underwhelming, it's even great.
- 34:40[SPEAKER_03]: And to put all that on the court, it felt like it was Drew trying to make a lot of stuff work and like in spite of what was around him and that's where for me like if you get into day three and you want to bet on.
- 34:55[SPEAKER_03]: to throw it the natural throwing ability that exists that you can create a more confident player with some more timing and knows where his answers are and trust a guy is going to get open that hey if I get into a default I know I can work to this guy and I trust them to get open.
- 35:09[SPEAKER_03]: I think you get a very better version of him as a quarterback than what you saw a lot of times at Penn State.
- 35:14[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, what I'll say about Ella is that if we sat here in five years time and he is starting and playing really well and is the best caught back out of this group.
- 35:23[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think any of us would be surprised in terms of the fact that somebody has fixed him because the traits are already there.
- 35:30[SPEAKER_01]: He's just been able to be fixed and I don't think that's beyond the realm of possibility.
- 35:33[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's fair.
- 35:35[SPEAKER_01]: Who's your, you have a sleeper who's just under the radar guy that that you like and think, you know, he could come in and be a backup.
- 35:41[SPEAKER_01]: He could, you know, he couldn't actually start to push.
- 35:44[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and I'll do C.K.
- 35:47[SPEAKER_03]: I'll do some service here in and homage and I'll say Jalen Daniels from Kansas.
- 35:52[SPEAKER_03]: So like
- 35:55[SPEAKER_03]: the athleticism is very apparent.
- 35:57[SPEAKER_03]: And if I remember correctly, you can correct me from wrong.
- 36:01[SPEAKER_03]: The offense that drew played in the last two years of Penn State was the offense that Jayland Daniels played in before, because the offensive coordinator went from Kansas to Penn State.
- 36:11[SPEAKER_03]: So you want to talk about tire fire, trick him, dick him, experiences, and like, can you get a a better
- 36:21[SPEAKER_03]: Jalen's a smart cat.
- 36:22[SPEAKER_03]: You get I heard some of his interviews at the shrine this year and and you tell like the football IQ is really there and there's an athletic component that you can tap into that I think Jalen can be a consistent presence in a quarterback room.
- 36:40[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know where I'm at with the starting ceiling for him as a player, but.
- 36:46[SPEAKER_03]: If you want to, you know, a lot of those, especially if the quarterback that would be in front of him has parallel strengths, I think he's a guy who, you know, as a guy who can win outside a structure with his legs and times, but has like a high football IQ that's a nice blend to put together obviously there's some medical stuff there and he had a back issue and that's going to scare some teams and he's not the biggest guy, but.
- 37:08[SPEAKER_03]: I think there's the DNA kind of like how I feel about Nussmire, I think Jalen Daniels in a little bit more of a skill specific situation that probably relies on the starter having some the same things that Jalen can execute.
- 37:24[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 37:24[SPEAKER_03]: I think you could be a consistent presence in a quarterback room for a long time.
- 37:28[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, in the same way that, and I've completely forgotten his name now, and even though he played in Miami, the new totally.
- 37:34[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, it's to, it's to Lamar Jackson in terms of that guy.
- 37:37[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that, that's some, I was going to mention Jack Strand, who is the, the quarterback MSG mall head, just because he worked out yesterday at the, the, the, the NDSU pro day, weight in it.
- 37:50[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if you saw the size, he was six, four, two, four, three.
- 37:53[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, big human being, big human being, but compelling aunt Allen, that's speaking to,
- 37:58[SPEAKER_01]: Speaking to somebody who was saying, you know, just some nice pocket maneuverability and a bunch of kind of prototypical traits, but apparently he threw the ball yesterday, 70 at one point he had a 74 yard throw, which apparently grazed the roof of the practice facility at the bison half, which kind of tells you the guys got a bit of a
- 38:17[SPEAKER_01]: a bit of smoking in his arm.
- 38:18[SPEAKER_01]: But actually I kind of settled on a swear robber's and a bailer who's a guy who's taking like, yeah, I quite like.
- 38:24[SPEAKER_01]: I just thought he was quite an interesting player.
- 38:27[SPEAKER_01]: The son of a former major league baseball first round draft pick thought he was going to be kind of destined to be a pro baseball player, but ended up just loving.
- 38:35[SPEAKER_01]: loving football more, pass for more yards, you know, then patching my homes did in terms of, you know, three years running the air raid at Tech and committed to Mississippi State because he loved Mike Leach, then Mike Leach passed away, so he went to Baylor.
- 38:52[SPEAKER_01]: He's a kind of my absolute Mike Leach disciple, like almost like a father figure.
- 38:56[SPEAKER_01]: And I think he fell a little bit, just from reading some of the staff and some of the interviews, I think when Leech died, I think he kind of almost took a bit of confidence away from him, but actually you look at the tape and, you know, I was really intrigued by the fact that
- 39:11[SPEAKER_01]: He doesn't put the ball in harm's way, you know, if you're looking for a guy who's just going to put the ball to the furthest point away from the defender, um, so that they've got to come through the receiver to knock it away or or worse, you know, he keeps his eyes down the field.
- 39:29[SPEAKER_01]: you know to maneuver middle field defenders I just you know look I'm not saying he's going to come in and start but he's you know six three and a half he's two twenty one he's got the kind of size you can throw the ball would touch down the sideline he can drive the ball between the numbers he can fire outside you know on a rope to the opposite side of the field that's on his tape as well yeah I just look just his it's not perfect
- 39:54[SPEAKER_01]: But, you know, I think there's some some developmental upside there for a guy, the cousin of Jared Stidman, you know, if he ends up being a Stidim like backup, who can, you know, coming at a pinch and be a pinch hitter, hopefully not on an AFC Championship game, but, you know, I think there's some, I think there's something there for a guy like Swerwar was an ultra competitive kid.
- 40:16[SPEAKER_01]: And, um, yeah, he would be my, he would be my kind of under the radar.
- 40:21[SPEAKER_01]: Guy, what about running backs then for you in terms of where did you finish up in this running back group?
- 40:27[SPEAKER_01]: Because again, not an overly compelling group when you touch one early in the show about the gap between the number one guy who we obviously were both sharing the number two guy in terms of where they end up.
- 40:38[SPEAKER_01]: What was your final settling point with this group?
- 40:42[SPEAKER_03]: Simon, this group has not bloodbath.
- 40:45[SPEAKER_03]: This is brutal.
- 40:48[SPEAKER_03]: So Jeremiah love his phenomenal.
- 40:50[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, let's start there, right?
- 40:52[SPEAKER_03]: It's one of my, I've got four players that got top 10 valuations in this year's class and he's one of them.
- 40:57[SPEAKER_03]: So he's the elite amongst the elites, he's a blue chip player.
- 41:02[SPEAKER_03]: Beyond that.
- 41:03[SPEAKER_03]: I do have to Darrym Price, Notre Dame.
- 41:06[SPEAKER_03]: His backup is my number two.
- 41:08[SPEAKER_03]: He's a third round value for me.
- 41:13[SPEAKER_03]: Mike Washington, Arkansas, the six year senior with the ultimate height weight speed combination of just explosive home run hitting ability with some some mast to back it up.
- 41:26[SPEAKER_03]: He's a three four
- 41:30[SPEAKER_03]: And then we're into Jonah Coleman and Emmett Johnson or the guys that round out the top five and those guys for me, I have both with fourth round evaluations on those guys, so we're we're pretty light.
- 41:42[SPEAKER_03]: It's pretty impressive.
- 41:43[SPEAKER_03]: We have more quarterbacks that in in a down quarter back year that topic 100 for me, then we did it running back.
- 41:54[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's a very good point.
- 41:55[SPEAKER_01]: I've got four of the same guys.
- 41:57[SPEAKER_01]: I love, I've got price.
- 42:00[SPEAKER_01]: I've got Washington, I think he's really intriguing.
- 42:01[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he's very linear.
- 42:03[SPEAKER_01]: But I thought his tape was, you know, there's just some juice there, like the real juice.
- 42:09[SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, he was a big, he was running back in a defensive end in high school.
- 42:14[SPEAKER_01]: He had a big high school career, committed to Buffalo, probably 27 games there.
- 42:20[SPEAKER_01]: And then,
- 42:21[SPEAKER_01]: And now to Arkansas and I just thought some of the tape in terms of what he does, like you talked about the height of high weight speed stuff.
- 42:28[SPEAKER_01]: He's just a specimen.
- 42:29[SPEAKER_01]: He carried, I think he carries his weight so well.
- 42:31[SPEAKER_01]: He sets up his blocks well.
- 42:33[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know the vision is amazing, but schematically I think so much of what he does comes from that RPO game that I can saw around with with tail and green from those little sort of short suites and pin and pulls to get him outside.
- 42:43[SPEAKER_01]: But he glides across the turf man.
- 42:44[SPEAKER_01]: He is, um,
- 42:45[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, there's times where everything is on full full gas and he needs to to learn maybe just to be a bit more patient and stuff, but and he's kind of looking for the explode.
- 42:53[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if you thought that car, but kind of looking for the explosive in every single snap, but he's just bursty, really bursty.
- 42:59[SPEAKER_01]: I like his hands as well.
- 43:01[SPEAKER_01]: And
- 43:03[SPEAKER_01]: the other thing that he always took about running bags.
- 43:06[SPEAKER_01]: I went through it.
- 43:07[SPEAKER_01]: He averages five yards a carried for his college career, but he only has five hundred and eighty-four calories since twenty-nine things, so there's so much tread on the tires in terms of, you know, just his usage.
- 43:17[SPEAKER_01]: His dad was a Navy seal, so he's got that kind of work ethic, excuse me, so yeah, I thought he was, and I think it's been interesting to see there's been a lot of talk out west of a couple of friends who are out west of the sea hawks and staff and
- 43:28[SPEAKER_01]: and a guy in this country who's kind of really up on the seahawks and their staff and I know that Washington was in on Wednesday of the week for a 30 visit.
- 43:39[SPEAKER_01]: He to me that that feels like a fit there in Seattle and he might be a guy just in a sparse year that maybe just goes get a little bit overdrafted but I think in the right scheme he could be really effective and then my fifth guy.
- 43:50[SPEAKER_01]: It's garbage to wild back actually.
- 43:52[SPEAKER_01]: I've got Johnson.
- 43:53[SPEAKER_01]: It's Jumari Taylor of Virginia who's just just tape.
- 43:56[SPEAKER_01]: I just really, really, really enjoyed a zero star recruit just a couple of D to offers coming out high school.
- 44:03[SPEAKER_01]: To kind of was a walk on essentially at North Carolina Central historically black college in in Durham.
- 44:10[SPEAKER_01]: And really just broke out as a fifth year senior there and transferred to Virginia as a six year grand student.
- 44:16[SPEAKER_01]: But, and again, like Washington, 576 carries since 2019, but 47 career touchdowns, he knows where the end zone is.
- 44:24[SPEAKER_01]: He had a good year last year, two years ago, really good year last year.
- 44:27[SPEAKER_01]: And I just, like, so physical.
- 44:30[SPEAKER_01]: There's a play against Florida State, Earl Littal comes down, rolls down into the box.
- 44:34[SPEAKER_01]: And Taylor just absolutely destroycy.
- 44:36[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, like, destroycy.
- 44:39[SPEAKER_01]: Only two funnels and six 180 touches.
- 44:41[SPEAKER_01]: He can kind of mix between being a slasher and a power runner.
- 44:45[SPEAKER_01]: And if you're kind of coming down into the box, you better wrap this kid up because he's going to knock you through your, you know, he's going to put his head through your chest.
- 44:52[SPEAKER_01]: And you're going to go down soft hands, you ran roots really well at the senior bowl.
- 44:57[SPEAKER_01]: I thought he, you know, down here for running back, she kind of feel like, you know what.
- 45:02[SPEAKER_01]: are the one or two guys on the periphery that just feel like they could step up a team captain pleasure to coach apparently according to to people who've been around him so yeah five nine two oh seven I'm a I'm a fan of Jamari Taylor he's actually my six okay nice we're on the same pretty much other same page I like yeah I like that who's your who's your sleeper who's your your sleeper back
- 45:25[SPEAKER_03]: I'm not going to be the first person to tab this is like a really intriguing off off the top five conversation guy by Adam Randall from Clemson who you want to talk about low tread on the tires right like this can have four carries in college before this year because he was a wide receiver.
- 45:54[SPEAKER_03]: The the burst is there for guy of his size kind of is he Antonio Gibson 2.0 like I could see like that kind of role for him being something that He has a lot of success with and it becomes a out of the backfield passing down threat is kind of the floor and you see where he can develop into as a ball carrier, but
- 46:18[SPEAKER_03]: you saw the the value of a guy who could do a lot of that stuff with what Seattle did down the stretch and put in JSN of all people back there but of all people back there but then you see these other running backs like Devon HN and what they're able to do is pass catchers and
- 46:36[SPEAKER_03]: you have that explicit role that you can fill with a lot of untapped potential on the other stuff.
- 46:45[SPEAKER_03]: I think that's a name that I would be willing to take the swing on in the middle rounds and say, hey, I think that at worst we get a third down pass catcher for 14 that likes to use the tight ends in pass pro a little bit more for when we go six man protection is as compared to asking the back to do it.
- 47:02[SPEAKER_03]: Although he certainly has the mass to learn how to be a pretty darn good pass protector in his own right because he's he's the size of a lineback.
- 47:09[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he's a big kid.
- 47:11[SPEAKER_01]: I like how he For somebody I know he had a few carries in high school, but for somebody that that is pretty raw to the position.
- 47:18[SPEAKER_01]: How he follows his blocks, for example, those just a little bits of my new shot and new ones that they're running with a low pad level.
- 47:25[SPEAKER_01]: I was really intrigued by it.
- 47:27[SPEAKER_01]: He was known as Baby Julia as in or Julias in Julio Jones with a five stock kid when he came in as a receiver.
- 47:33[SPEAKER_01]: The injuries of the one thing that concerned me, he had two really serious high ankle sprains in high school.
- 47:40[SPEAKER_01]: He separated a shoulder as a high school sophomore.
- 47:42[SPEAKER_01]: He tore his ACL as a freshman at Clemson and he had broken bones of both his hands in 22 and 23 and in 2024.
- 47:48[SPEAKER_01]: He had multiple stress factors in his fourth and fifth meta-tarsals that were then reinforced by screws.
- 47:52[SPEAKER_01]: But what's
- 47:55[SPEAKER_01]: When he tore his ACL, he's back playing in 169 days and apparently Clemson medical staff like this guy is just his body just heals itself way quicker than anybody they've ever been around.
- 48:05[SPEAKER_01]: So if you can kind of overcome that and yeah I, his tape I thought was was really good and like you say I think if you've got a convicted running backs coach you can look at the film and see the rawness but then think actually you know there's definitely something here and obviously he's going to help you in the in the passing game.
- 48:20[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I like him a lot as a, I wouldn't be surprised in this class.
- 48:25[SPEAKER_03]: You talked about like Washington potentially getting a little overdrafted.
- 48:29[SPEAKER_03]: Like if you went to Seattle at 64, like okay, like I get it, but if you want to talk about a guy like this Relative to the others and if he if you told me he snuck into the end of the day three day two like in the last few picks of the third round, like I could totally see why you would do that if you've got like a floor set for your starter
- 48:50[SPEAKER_03]: and you see a vision plus the upside to bet on and you really felt compelled to take it.
- 48:58[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, my sleep, I was going to mention Result phase on who ran a really good time at his pro-day this time he ran under four five who by touched upon him a few weeks ago.
- 49:24[SPEAKER_01]: My guy is going to be more of a third-down garnish, Jamal Haynes of Georgia Tech who great story.
- 49:31[SPEAKER_01]: His mum played two seasons as a running back for the Atlantic Explosion, who are semi-pro 11 on the left and tackle football team with the independent women's football league, which in itself is one of the great stories of the draft.
- 49:42[SPEAKER_01]: Um, but I just thought this tape was just really fun across the season.
- 49:45[SPEAKER_01]: Great feel for Lane's, great feel for a flow of the defense, a creator in space.
- 49:50[SPEAKER_01]: He just moves with a different speed in terms of just how he makes cuts with doesn't slow his body at all.
- 49:55[SPEAKER_01]: He moves to fenders with that kind of jinksy drop of a shoulder staff.
- 50:00[SPEAKER_01]: Um, and like I said, doesn't lose any speed.
- 50:02[SPEAKER_01]: That really nice of kind of acceleration, short error quickness and that great vision for
- 50:06[SPEAKER_01]: for cutback lanes to me, if for teams just looking for a guy and coming and make a difference, you know, whether that's in the fourth quarter with caring defenses or just as a third down back and a special team's contributor, I like the cut of Jamal Haines' Jeep in terms of what he might be able to do for a team.
- 50:22[SPEAKER_01]: And again, this is going to be a six or seventh round guy, but I just think, you know, he's got a real shot of making a team because of what he can bring to a,
- 50:32[SPEAKER_01]: to a unit, plus he's got one of the best stories in the draft and you know, who doesn't like a mum that played running back for two years and they are all whips sleek.
- 50:39[SPEAKER_03]: Right, when you talk, when you talk about football bloodlines, it's yeah, really not mom, right?
- 50:44[SPEAKER_03]: So that that's a fun extra wrinkle.
- 50:46[SPEAKER_01]: Love that.
- 50:47[SPEAKER_01]: I love that.
- 50:48[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 50:48[SPEAKER_01]: That is it for this week.
- 50:49[SPEAKER_01]: Thanks for listening.
- 50:50[SPEAKER_01]: Thanks for watching.
- 50:51[SPEAKER_01]: As always, you can cast Carla acres.
- 50:52[SPEAKER_01]: He sports or at Carcraft on Twitter.
- 50:55[SPEAKER_01]: I am on my sub stack, which I've done nothing on for last few weeks, because I'm doing this in the founded draft book.
- 51:00[SPEAKER_01]: I've got a couple of great long form stories that are coming out.
- 51:03[SPEAKER_01]: Once I get around to writing them, but very soon, certainly before the draft.
- 51:06[SPEAKER_01]: And that sub-stack is called the low-red zone and I am at site, can see on Twitter, Carl and I will back next week.
- 51:12[SPEAKER_01]: We'll do running back, I will do, we'll just don't running back.
- 51:14[SPEAKER_01]: So we'll do tight ends, we'll do wide receivers, as we build up to April 23rd.
- 51:18[SPEAKER_01]: Thanks, mate, as always, and I will see you soon.
- 51:20[SPEAKER_03]: Thanks, sir.
