Transcript
- 0:18Hello, and welcome to Gates Leapers, the pop culture game show that shines
- 0:22a spotlight onto everyone's favorite fandoms. I'm your games master and that guy who
- 0:27doesn't bring snacks to the group session Matt Watson. But a games master needs
- 0:31games and games need players, so please welcome. First introduced using D and
- 0:36D words to my metaphysical right. First, she is daffy and dextrous.
- 0:41It's Audra Stephenson. Hello. And he is DM and daddy not my daddy,
- 0:48unfortunately, it's Derek Logan. Hi there, Hello, welcome Audra and
- 0:54Derek. How are you both? I'm having fun. Yeah. Normally we
- 0:59would have a D and D session at about this time, but now we
- 1:03are in a different game, and that's very fun. Yeah. I've hijacked
- 1:07the reins from you a bit down. You know. That is perfectly fine
- 1:11with me because I have no idea what we're going to be doing in our
- 1:17next session. Gives me another week. Nice, nice glad it's helped.
- 1:23So, Odra, are you a fan of D and D? We know
- 1:26everyone at this table is we are a D and D group. I should
- 1:27say that up top, so it might be a bit redundant to say that,
- 1:30so maybe we'll ask when did you get into D and D? I
- 1:34think it was probably Royal Rumble weekend. Whenever that weekend was when we went
- 1:41to the Royal Rumble twenty nice? When did we go to the Royal twenty
- 1:46nineteen? Yeah, twenty nineteen. In the car, Chris and Jen played
- 1:49us nad pod and then I started listening to Dungeons and Dragons and then wanted
- 1:53to play and look here we are twenty twenty four. Nice. Nice,
- 1:57well pre pandemic at least you hipster? Yeah, and Derek, what about
- 2:02you? When did you get into D and D? For me, I
- 2:06was actually one of those people who got into it because of Stranger Things.
- 2:10Like I watched the very first season of Stranger Things and I was like,
- 2:15huh, that looks kind of fun, and then I just like looked up
- 2:21a podcast about it, and it happened to be the Critical Role podcast when
- 2:24they were in there the first season, and I listened to a couple episodes
- 2:30and I was like, this shit sounds really fun. And then one of
- 2:34my buddies at work had a game going in invited me and yeah, just
- 2:38started from there and just loved it. Nice. Nice, so yeah,
- 2:44two people pre pandemic. I'm saying this because the stereotype seems to be that
- 2:47most people jumped on board D and D during the pandemic pandemic, pandemic pandemic.
- 2:53We all look being reminded of that, don't we. So, Derek,
- 2:57you are our DM of three and a half years across two different campaigns.
- 3:00We've shared many memories together as a group. So who is your favorite
- 3:06player and why is it me? Well, let's see, I actually have
- 3:13a good answer for that. I was just thinking today, Matt, about
- 3:17your character in our last session, uh Adele oxl or wait no, yeah,
- 3:28And he was just this really cool character with this. He was a
- 3:31cleric with this arc of like maybe defying his God, maybe losing his faith,
- 3:38and it was this really intense thing for him. But then also D
- 3:44and D being as fucking silly as it is, uh, we all had
- 3:49the running joke that he had a giant dong, so wonderful character arc and
- 3:53then stupid little you know, giant dong jokes. Perfect right there. Absolutely,
- 4:01that's that's what he'll be remembered for. I think for hanging Dong,
- 4:09I should say this part. I'm really tired, and every time I say
- 4:12something like hanging dong, I just have like an out of body experience.
- 4:16So this could be a really fun recording. Absolutely it will be okay,
- 4:23Derek, thank you for being here to play some games, but you'll be
- 4:26needing some opponents, I think, because that's the format. God damn it.
- 4:29So to my metaphysical left, he is delightful and dazzling. It's Chris
- 4:33Reagan yo, yo, yeah what up? Yah, yeah, sorry,
- 4:42I'm sorry, I'm done good And he is delicious and executive producer of this
- 4:50very podcast. It's Adam Wood. Heao is your boy, I'm in the
- 4:56house aka Jimmy Chipperley aka you boy snork what to do? Oh fantastic there
- 5:01are two of them. Genuinely welcome, Christ and out of my kind oft
- 5:10wait for this energy to be on this game show. How are you both
- 5:14doing? Feeling really so good? So tired, but so good. A
- 5:17chaos. I you know, it's it's fun because normally Derek is the one
- 5:25rain and the sin, but Matt you're the one that's going to have to
- 5:28keep the chaos a good troll. You know, we got a different daddy
- 5:31keeping track of this Chris, But we're still playing in the sandbox, my
- 5:34man. You know, once you've had one daddy, you've you've really experienced
- 5:41most daddies. So what is it? What is one more daddy? That's
- 5:46that's why it's a good time. That's what it is. Brilliant. Well,
- 5:51speaking of good times, I'm gonna try and seguay this in. You
- 5:54must have had an original good time playing D and D Chris, When did
- 5:58you first get into into I got into it, actually, Adam, and
- 6:02I's good buddy Kyle Nelson turned me onto nad pod back in twenty eighteen,
- 6:10and I've been in ever since, mainly nad pot in Dimension twenty. But
- 6:15like all of the art behind me, it's all nad pod shit. It's
- 6:20I buy too much of their merch and you know it's it's fine support your
- 6:25podcaster is you know exactly? Adam? How about you? I got into
- 6:30it. It would have been freshman year of college. It would have been
- 6:34yeah, late twenty twelve, Oh, my buddy, Yeah, yeah,
- 6:40freshman year of college. My buddy Joel Davidson shouts out. Joel got a
- 6:45lot of us on the floor into it, and he was an og to
- 6:46this thing gave me a to borrow an original first edition hardcover copy of the
- 6:53Advanced Dungeons and Dragons Manual by Gary guy GaX on the front. You know
- 6:58like he was he was he was, he was an og. He held
- 7:01like a big session for the entire floor. I remember he had steal some
- 7:08stuff from a tavern. I proceeded to try to be charming to everyone in
- 7:14the bar, and all I did was get drunk. But as a freshman
- 7:17at a very conservative Christian school, that was still a fun bit of role
- 7:20playing. So yeah, closest you'd get to having some alcohol for a little
- 7:26bit. Oh, I haven't been that drunk since. Let me tell you.
- 7:30Oh brilliant you got. I mean, you've got everyone beat that rude
- 7:32of I think twenty twelve. Y yeah, yeah, I mean I played
- 7:36for maybe a couple of years twenty twelve to probably twenty fourteen, twenty fifteen,
- 7:42and then didn't really get back into it until this whole crew got back
- 7:45into it. Dude, you saying you bringing up Joel Davidson just reminded me
- 7:50that we played together back in like twenty sixteen, twenty fifteen, and Joel
- 7:57Davidson DMD us, and we had like an online thing weld like three sessions.
- 8:01Oh yes, because we like and we're playing some other some Uh.
- 8:07It's called Dungeon Crawler Classic. Dungeon Crawler Classic. You see c it's a
- 8:11really cool thing where they do like scaling dice, so you have to get
- 8:16a D four, a D six, a D seven, D eight and
- 8:18D ten and D like all these all these weird numbers. I have a
- 8:22D thirty somewhere too many ds. And he had us make five level.
- 8:28He had us make five level zero characters h and then sent us on a
- 8:31massive dungeon crawler and he's like, hey, if one of them lives,
- 8:35that's your character. That's exactly what happened. All of us had one character
- 8:39that survived the dungeon. So that's pretty cool. That is very cool.
- 8:45You mentioning Joel Davidson reminded me, I'm got this podcast can have unlocked all
- 8:48the memories everyone's had with Joel Davidson. Yeah. Yes, then there were
- 8:58so many people named Joe that before I actually knew him, I was like
- 9:01that one plays a banjo, he's banjol. That was worth it for the
- 9:07joke to be fair. Yes, well, Chris Adam, thank you for
- 9:11being here. You are going to bring a chaotic energy. I think,
- 9:13uh, and I'm prepared for it. I'm prepared to be here your Daddy
- 9:16today. You're not prepared to do what it happens. Okay, teams,
- 9:22you've arrived at the table, but no one has filled out their character sheet
- 9:26yet. I ask you to do one thing. So I'd like each pair
- 9:30to come up with a D and D themed team name. Please, let's
- 9:33start with Audra and Derek. So I had a couple ideas. I had
- 9:39two that I came up with before we started talking and one that I came
- 9:43up with after said Banjoel It was it's not but I love a portmanteau.
- 9:52So the the ones that I have cobold fashioned, because I do think we
- 9:56will be the more straight laced of the team. It's good there are going
- 10:01to be some chaos. I think we're going to be in it to win
- 10:03it. Yeah, we'll bring the technical prowess to go get her attitude.
- 10:09Garden variety gnomes. It was my second one, and then the one that
- 10:16I came up with while we were talking was just Daddy's Revenge. It sounds
- 10:22like the name of a ship on the high seas. So those are those
- 10:28are? So I'm not sure if you have any ideas to throw into the
- 10:33ring. I really like your ideas, Odra. Honestly, I only had
- 10:39one that I had thought about. So part of our current campaign, the
- 10:45players are in a place called Buckleberry Community College, So I was just going
- 10:50to do like the Buckleberry Buddies. Buckle Buddies is buckle Buddies. I like
- 11:00it. Your buckle buddies. Now I'm on a portmanteau. Okay, a
- 11:05couple of buckle buddies. It sounds like an old fashioned defensive time. Yeah,
- 11:13that's what they called me and Adam in college. Look at those there.
- 11:16Okay, Well, moving on over to the real buckle buddies then,
- 11:20Chris, Adam, have you got a team name? See I was pondering
- 11:24a few things, and my first thought, because I've got Xanathar's got everything
- 11:28over here, was XANATHUSSI. However, I feel like Adam came across a
- 11:35better name earlier when we were chatting. If you want to, yeah,
- 11:39we'll see Chris. As as what happens with most of our names or titles
- 11:45or phrases that define us. They come naturally. And I was thinking back
- 11:48to names that we've called ourselves, whether it be for musical groups or for
- 11:54social media handles or whatever it may be, and all of the names that
- 11:58we've had in the past were all, you know, completely appropriate, uh
- 12:03and above board, all across just dated, just dated, And that's the
- 12:07only reason that can be used. Definitely nothing offensive. For sure. It
- 12:13wasn't buddies, no, actually no. But but yeah, well it's it's
- 12:20got to be twin magic, it's got to be nice nice. Absolutely Is
- 12:26that? Is that based on your current characters that you're playing in the Buckleberry
- 12:28campaign. Goddamn right it is? Hell yeah, brother to Twin cole Bolds,
- 12:35just for just for Daddy to d M. That's all you need to
- 12:41know. You two are nightmares, I think where we played delightful Colebolds just
- 12:52because we talked with Boston accents and we want to fight everything that's it's not
- 12:58on us, Okay, those are the care and the stereotypes of Boston.
- 13:03And I will stand by the fact that I don't think I deserve to get
- 13:05slapped by the dean on our first day in class. Yeah, that was
- 13:11fucked up, dude, that she knew. She knew. You guys,
- 13:18Derek, You're not You're not in charge anymore, Derek, So fuck you
- 13:22for that. By the way, I'm sure you'll pay for that. Next
- 13:26week. All right, we have the Buckle Buddies versus Twin Magic. I
- 13:33love it. Can't wait for that matchup. But unique matchup, all right.
- 13:37And if you're listening to this and thinking, I'm ready for some laughs
- 13:41and games. But I don't even know what D and D stands for?
- 13:43Is it one of those sex things? Yes, so his order with a
- 13:50little segment we like to call passing knowledge. Dungeons and Dragons, commonly abbreviated
- 13:56as D and D, is a fantasy tabletop roleplaying game originally created and designed
- 14:01by Gary Geigax and Dave Arnson. The game was first published in nineteen seventy
- 14:07four and has been published by Wizards of the Coast, a subsidiary of Hasbroro,
- 14:11since nineteen ninety seven, which means it got a solid like eight years
- 14:16before being brought into the Satanic Panic of nineteen eighty two. His house was
- 14:20filled with every occultic super fathomed a weekly board him Dundons and Dragons games sent
- 14:28on the table. Jesus saved, but D and D only took half damage,
- 14:33growing to become more than just a game for losers and basements if it
- 14:37ever was to begin with. Do you have any idea how much that helps?
- 14:41Sure, it's still a table top game, but the rules and lore
- 14:45are the basis for groundbreaking, beautiful, rich, game of the Year winning
- 14:50video games like Balder's Gate three, and also for movies like Dungeons and Dragons,
- 14:56Honor Among Thieves Fantastic for the shovel. The popularity of D and D
- 15:01has endured due to its community building focus. Home games require several friends to
- 15:07gather together and play the Many actual play shows like Critical Role, nad Pod
- 15:13and Dimension twenty have some of the most involved fan bases you will see on
- 15:16the internet. Dungeons Dragons, Honor among Thieves had heavy themes of found family,
- 15:22and Boulder's Gate III was built specifically for you and your friends around the
- 15:26world to engage in the story together and find out which one of your friends
- 15:31would fuck a mind flare given half a chance. You know this might be
- 15:37our last chance to explore the possibility of a deeper relationship. Now, let's
- 15:43use a seventh level spell slot and plane shift into Dungeons and Dragons. Nice,
- 15:52did you have to do much research for that one? It was that
- 15:54pretty much all from memory. I had to look at dates, and also
- 16:00I like to get into the fandom to kind of figure out what is relevant,
- 16:04because when you play, or when you're like really involved in a fandom,
- 16:10some things are not actually relevant to the larger group. They're just really
- 16:14special to you. It seems like the things that were relevant to me seem
- 16:18to be really relevant to most D and D fans. Nice, So,
- 16:23hell, yeah, I'm normal. Okay, that's good to know. Yeah,
- 16:30I don't know how a segue from that, I'm tired. Just before
- 16:33we get to today's games, I've asked each player to bring in a muse
- 16:37that's something that inspires them or something they love from this particular fandom. Dungeons
- 16:41and Dragons is inspiring to me because of DMS themselves. Yeah. The more
- 16:45people out there who enjoy gathering their friends in a room to play games for
- 16:49three hours, the more normal my life seems. So more DMS. Okay,
- 16:55Oudra, we will start with you. What's inspiring you from the world
- 16:56of Done and Drag. Covid, I go bold. But it was the
- 17:07time that you say that a lot of people got into Dungeons and Dragons,
- 17:10And while none of us got into Dungeons and Dragons at that time, we
- 17:15did use it as a regular way for us to start our campaign and continue
- 17:22being connected in a time when everyone was really really isolated. That connection has
- 17:29continued. We're still playing. It's not twenty twenty anymore, but we're still
- 17:34having that community amongst us, and it's really good. Hell yeah, hell
- 17:38yeah. I like my friends so worth all the deaths. I'm not going
- 17:48to answer. I was like, how bold do I want to be for
- 17:52the sake of comedy? Not bold? That's a good muse, Covid.
- 17:59Sure, I get what you mean. Yeah, all right, Moving on
- 18:03Novia to your Buckle Buddies teammates, Derek, what's inspiring you? So?
- 18:07I was thinking about this one for a while. I think just the creativity
- 18:15and like the world building that you can do together with your friends. Like
- 18:21one of the instances that I always immediately think of is Chris had a character
- 18:26in our last campaign who was a rogue changelain, and our last campaign we
- 18:34basically they ended up getting in a big fight with Captain Hook and his crew,
- 18:42which I know it sounds fucking ridiculous. It was just part of the
- 18:45campaign, that's what we were doing. Yeah, So they were fighting Captain
- 18:51Hook and Chris's character decides to change into Peter Pan to piss off Captain Hook
- 19:02and keep Captain Hook from attacking the rest of the party, which it worked.
- 19:08Unfortunately, Chris's character had a dramatic death in that moment, playing Peter
- 19:15Pan and saying some smart ass thing to Captain Hook. But it's just like
- 19:21shit like that that you can say, like only happens in DDY. Yeah,
- 19:26to be fair, I was the one that like started that fight.
- 19:29Also, it's kind of like I kind of blew up a bunch of shit,
- 19:34so he kind of deserved it. You finished what you started, Captain
- 19:41Hook finished when I started. For sure. Fantastic, Derek. I've forgotten
- 19:47about that moment because my memory is terrible, But I loved I loved that
- 19:52fight so much. That whole section in more like a fairy tale fantasy space.
- 19:56So good, so good, and a good muse. But now we'll
- 20:00move on over to twin Magic. Adam what's inspiring you from D and D.
- 20:03My muse is shitty accents, lovely stuff. I just I love being
- 20:11able to do dumb voices. But no, in all reality, thought getting
- 20:19to play these ridiculous characters with our friends for a long time. I mean,
- 20:25it's taken us how long to get through one semester of community college.
- 20:33We'll be on this campaign for seven years of this? Right? I think?
- 20:37Can we still play more than most D and D groups get to?
- 20:42Adam, do you have a favorite accent? Is it? Is it the
- 20:45Boston accent? Or if you be the one only Lindsay mackenzie little character and
- 20:55the reason And again it was just it was a dumb joke because I really
- 20:59liked the one scene from the office where they're doing the murder thing and Andy
- 21:03goes, no, you sort of will you have a sort of a flawed
- 21:07a panhandle accent? And what you really want to sort of more like a
- 21:10sort of like a molass it's sort of just a spilling option mile And I
- 21:14was like, I want to learn that voice for a character. And you
- 21:17did, and and I fucking did and and I and for what it's worth,
- 21:21I didn't end up with with the girl at the end. Uh,
- 21:25you know, like the classic bachelor story. But I did win. I
- 21:27did win for what it's worth, Yeah, I know. But but just
- 21:32getting to like play these ridiculous characters, uh with our friends. It's a
- 21:36fun way to goof around, have a fun time, uh, make stoop
- 21:41of jokes with each other. But it is also a really cool way to
- 21:45explore aspects of character, like like with people that you trust in a really
- 21:48really cool way, and a lot of that being done with with just dumb
- 21:52voices. It's the best. Yeah, that's so good to use. Dumb
- 21:56voice is a dumb No, dumb voices is a good? Is what I
- 21:59meant to say? You are tired? I mean good? That's a great
- 22:07muse. Adam and Chris, the other half of Twin Magic. What is
- 22:11inspiring you from D and D? I think my muse is going to have
- 22:15to be the two times so we've had two like main campaigns with this group,
- 22:22and once for each campaign we were able to all be together to play,
- 22:26and both times it was just like the most fun weekend. The first
- 22:32time we had like battle maps and everything. We all we purchased a three
- 22:36D printer and printed out like all of our characters and everything and had sets
- 22:41and everything. And I would probably say those two, both those two sessions,
- 22:47we're just we're so like, we have so much fun every single time
- 22:52we played, but those two were just like it's at its hot for me.
- 22:56Yeah, it's a fantastic way of socializing from a distance. Both when
- 23:00we do get to play together in person, it is just it's special.
- 23:03Yeah, it's the best. And usually it is also around wrestling, because
- 23:08that's another thing this group does is watch wrestling. Yeah, and so it's
- 23:14just like we get to do all those things together and it's great. Yeah.
- 23:17I can't say that's a bad mus because it's also some of my best
- 23:19memories. What a fantastic muse. Okay, okay, And I should say
- 23:26this isn't our entire D and D group. There are two more members that
- 23:30make up the group, but we only have so much room on gate leapers.
- 23:33So if we can have a quick cameo from our other two members,
- 23:37Jen, Hello, oh here, I am here. What's inspiring our listeners
- 23:45know you? I don't need to introduce you. It's fine. What's inspiring
- 23:48you from D and D. You know I'm gonna say all of the things.
- 23:53I love my friends, I love being together, I love doing the
- 23:57shit together. Like, Okay, Derek, can we do this thing and
- 24:03see if and if see if I let us? But I I just I
- 24:07have to shout out the campaign that we did a campaign one Derek got us
- 24:11to level twenty. It was really fucking fun. But we had to give
- 24:15Derek a break. It was a really big campaign. So I jumped in
- 24:21as kind of an intermission between campaigns to do a Bachelor style D and D
- 24:27campaign. So it's like, at the time that was one of the big,
- 24:30like pandemic hyperfixations for me. And to blend the style of a Bachelor
- 24:37Bachelorette season and D and D and what that looked like, or basically doing
- 24:44a PvP season or campaign whatever, and just the ridiculous characters that everyone came
- 24:52up with and getting to have a very cinematic campaign that was very modern was
- 24:59really cool. But I will always and forever remember Ash looking Toad into the
- 25:04camera and saying I'm gonna polymorph Chris Harrison into a dildo and then having to
- 25:12think through as the damn what does that mean mechanically? What are the stats
- 25:22that I'm going to use let me stat this out. You also want to
- 25:26tell you to a pair great and then leave it as a dildo for an
- 25:30hour, for the length of polymore more and then quesh, Okay, does
- 25:37the ac change between you know, glass or silicone, like exactly the properties
- 25:45of this dilto earth? Use it? Yes? So it stretched me creatively
- 26:00the same right now, Jen, it's a fantastic views. It's a fantastic
- 26:18moment. I know you're not feeling well right now, but that's probably the
- 26:22best joke we're going to make all night. So you should prob, you
- 26:26should probably get some rice. You should probably probably take a long rest or
- 26:30a short rest. I'm gonna go be not here and think about that on
- 26:36the internet. I love you, okay. And last, but certainly not
- 26:45least, I hate that phrase. I don't know why I used it,
- 26:47Ash, what is inspiring you from D and D Actually this is a great
- 26:55segue from what Jen was talking about and how you can span your creativity Okay,
- 27:02yes, through this form of role play. And so I just really
- 27:08appreciated. So my muse is all of our dms that we've had with this
- 27:11group. That would begin that would be Adam and that would be obviously Daddy
- 27:17Derek, and so it's just been it's fun. It's fun to see how
- 27:22we can take an idea that might one person might have and just continue to
- 27:29expand it and then making our friends have to improvise really art things. Yeah
- 27:34the moment, I don't know what that's like. Yeah, it's it's so
- 27:44good for the I feel like, yeah, we've we were all very much
- 27:47inspired by our friends. But I like how everyone's focused on like a different
- 27:51aspect of this, and the creativity is a huge aspect of it. Ash,
- 27:53definitely, the way we can tell stories together with with just our tired
- 27:59minds, yes, is brilliant. Actually, Ash, would you mind sticking
- 28:04around for a bit longer? I might need you for a game later.
- 28:08Oh absolutely fantastic. Okay, Well with that, I think we're feeling all
- 28:14suitably inspired. So teams, it's time to roll for initiative as we enter
- 28:18the mysterious cave that is Round one. Okay. Round one is our trivia
- 28:29game and will test your general D and D knowledge as well as your spell
- 28:33ability no, not casting spells, but spelling words in a game that this
- 28:38time we're calling spell slots. I have eight questions here, four for each
- 28:44team. Each answer will be a single word. Get the question correct and
- 28:48score a point. Then whether you get the question correct or not, for
- 28:52another point. Our teams must then spell their answer. The twist is it
- 28:56will be one letter at a time, back and fourth between teammates until they've
- 29:02completed an answer. I'm so bad at spelling. Sorry. Yeah, we'll
- 29:11see how this goes. Okay, we'll see how it goes well. I've
- 29:14numbered the questions one through four like spell slots one through four, so the
- 29:17first one shouldn't be too tough, and then the last one might be a
- 29:21bit more powerful. Okay, so we will begin with buckle buddies. Here
- 29:23is your first question. These mysterious, benevolent aberrations can be found drifting through
- 29:30the under dark. It's said that you should always trust these tiny flying spaghetti
- 29:33monsters. Can we converse? You can convert, you can confirm. Do
- 29:37we think this is a flump? I don't know where the flumps, sir?
- 29:41I yeah, I am not sure. Or maybe he's just fucking with
- 29:48us a little bit, and it's actually like mind flares or something like really
- 29:53menacing. I'll say it's question one I'm not fucking with you yet, gotcha.
- 30:00Okay, So I feel flump. I trust you. It absolutely is
- 30:07flump. Yes, cute little jellyfish creature things float around flu magic creatures.
- 30:11You've got a point there, But can you spell flump f Oh you I'm
- 30:22trying to think of how I've said flum p eight. Correct, that's how
- 30:30you spell flump like pH. You got it, spot on, You got
- 30:37the question, you got the spelling spells Lot one complete. We will move
- 30:41on over to twin magic. Now here is your question. This D and
- 30:45D race is treated with suspicion and sees mistrust and fear in every eye that
- 30:49meets theirs. Their appearance is because of a pact struck generations ago with the
- 30:55Lord of the Nine Hells. Uh stra right, Uh, I'm conferring with
- 31:00Adam first draw, that's the like most untrustworthy race. Oh, I know
- 31:08that sounded wrong, but it's okay. I'm sorry. I'm pretty sure it's
- 31:17drow. Yeah, because they worship Lilith and she's the god of the underdark.
- 31:22I think drought the same thing. Yeah, it's actually not drough.
- 31:29Yeah, the first half of that sentence maybe, but the making a pact
- 31:33strict generations go with the Lord of the Nine Hells tee flings looking for tee
- 31:38fling. Actually that's bullshit, get his ass, brot. Yeah go on,
- 31:49yeah, oh you got you got mate. Just so you guys know,
- 31:56this is every session. Okay, but you've still got a chance at
- 32:00a point because you can still spell t fling. So Chris, would you
- 32:04like to start? Sure? T oh man, they give me the hard
- 32:09one here, uh I E M l I n ge. There we go,
- 32:24finishing it off with a lovely J for a point. Then sorry.
- 32:30So you know, maybe a knowledge is lacking, but your spelling is that
- 32:35or the game master is fucking over. I was really confident on the spelling
- 32:38of t fling until I had to get to the e. I. I
- 32:43think I would have done it the wrong way, for sure. I was
- 32:47just thinking the same thing. I would have done it wrong. So glad
- 32:52that I started, because I would have done the other the opposite. Welton
- 32:55adam avoiding that trap. Next question for buckle buddy. Here it is this
- 33:00type of magic is mysterious, sinister, and ghostly. The word you're looking
- 33:06for can precede the words night, horror, or blast. Necrotic, right
- 33:12you think I'm thinking I played a warlock in a campaign and there their like
- 33:20main attack is Eldrich blast, and you can like modify some things about it
- 33:25to make it like different types of blasts. But Eldrich horror, I know,
- 33:30is a thing. Also also it is another tricky word to spell,
- 33:34so I think that either is reasonable. Yeah, it's it's the Eldritch.
- 33:43Yeah, Eldrich, it is Eldrich, it absolutely is h. Yeah,
- 33:46maybe starting to game the game on which word is trickier to spell. Uh,
- 33:51So let's see if you can spell Eldrich. We will start with Derek
- 33:53this time e L d R. I c oh, I'm so sorry.
- 34:07I'm so sorry. It was a t before the sea that Eldrich Eldrich t
- 34:14H was that one? I want? I'll interrupt when the spelling goes awry
- 34:17to not leave you some throwing out letter. We get to the end and
- 34:22it actually started with an I. We'll have another question for twin magic here.
- 34:29It is this dragon God's natural form is that of a platinum dragon.
- 34:35He is the god of wisdom, whose name is derived from Arabic mythology,
- 34:38a dragon god, dragon god. The only one I can think of his,
- 34:45but that's definitely not it because five heads. Didn't you have like that
- 34:50dragon book? Or didn't did you have the Book of Dragons Adam ship.
- 34:55Yeah, I put me on blast to get it. I was wrong last
- 35:02time. And all of the names, all of the names with all these
- 35:14big boys are so challenging because I know team and that's about it. If
- 35:19I throw you a lifeline and say you're close with Tamu Tia just just regular
- 35:28Tiara, all right, I don't think you get this. I'll talk you
- 35:34guys out. Fuck. It's Tia Mutt's brother, Baha mut baham. Yeah,
- 35:42you're looking to spell Baha Mutt. Yeah, and we will start with
- 35:45Adam this time. B a h a m oh oh. I'm so sorry.
- 35:55It's a you you yes, sorry, no points there. I was
- 36:05thinking Baphomet, but that's the goat demon. I think that's what I was
- 36:08thinking too, And then I mixed up the spelling in my head. And
- 36:13even though it's probably spelled closer, you know, I'm just grasping against draws,
- 36:17trying to justify my yeah name legal, they made it legally distinct.
- 36:24Yeah, and it's okay, who spells anymore? This is like being back
- 36:28at school. Everyone has a spell check, Like I'm testing things that are
- 36:32no longer actually useful. Can I might use my phone? Okay, another
- 36:40question now for buckle buddies. Here it is getting even tougher on the spelling.
- 36:45Referred to as the Imprisoned One by some followers of Helm, this demon
- 36:51lord inspired the name of the monster in Stranger Things, which Derek has revealed
- 36:57he has seen I don't know what the monsters and Stranger Things. So there's
- 37:02the Demi Gorgon, but there's there's another one too, and I'm trying to
- 37:09remember what they called it. Yeah, and in the last season they have
- 37:15or this latest season that they have, there's like a different one that's a
- 37:20specific name. I think it's the other one that's not. I got nothing.
- 37:27It's either I'm thinking the Morden because that's stuff to spell, or Flump
- 37:36because I don't repeans, dang it. So I really don't know. I
- 37:43think we're probably our best bet is just hope we can spell whatever the right
- 37:45answer is and just throw out yeah, because it's I like, the Demi
- 37:52Gorgon is the only Stranger Things monster I remember, but I know, uhh
- 37:58that's not the answer, it's it's the other one. Yeah, and so
- 38:04I'm gonna say, we know it's not right, but we're gonna go with
- 38:07the Demi gorgan. It is right. It is the it is correct.
- 38:15I was gonna go with blink dog as a throwaway answers, so I'm glad
- 38:19I did there go, but it is it is dema gorgan. Uh.
- 38:23It is the pronunciation. So demo gorgan h l dr you to start d
- 38:30E m oh, I'm sorry, it's an oh demo. I wanted to
- 38:39steer you away from the demi not being an eye, but uh yeah,
- 38:44it's also it's also a no. But you did get a point surprisingly for
- 38:53bullshit in D and D. None of the vowels make any sense. What
- 38:57the fuck? Yeah yeah, mm hmm, and the valves are only going
- 39:01to get more confusing as we around. Okay, twin magic, here is
- 39:06your level three spell slot. Here it is This transmutation cantrip is merely clerical,
- 39:13with plenty of magical choices, including raising your voice to a boom,
- 39:17cause harmless tremors on the ground, and cause unlocked doors to fly Openaturgy.
- 39:24I think it. I think you're right. I think I'm pretty sure that's
- 39:28what it is, right, I think you're right, it's yeah, straight
- 39:30away there, Adam. It is thealmaturgy. Absolutely yeah. I could only
- 39:35think of presti digitation. Okay, so who's done? Is it to start?
- 39:45Did you use it in a sentence? First? Uh, the cantrip
- 39:47thealmaturgy exists. Can you say it backwards in a sentence? Please? No?
- 39:55Can you answer the fucking question installing that god origin? Where would that
- 40:04be? Realm of origin? In this case? Does it depends on the
- 40:07god? Okaymda T wait? Well, oh yeah, I forgot Okay,
- 40:17t h A you m A T you r G? Why? Yes?
- 40:31There we go found with hell? Yeah, when magic wasn't the spelling be
- 40:40in third grade? Did they ask you a spell found? Yes? And
- 40:45I didn't get it from bringing that up a bass whole. This is retribution
- 40:55and spell retribution. Okay. One final question in this round for each team.
- 41:01This is the These are the tough words now rowing Okay, Roy water
- 41:15you can continue to drown Chris because we'll be we'll be going to the buckle
- 41:19buddies. First for the final question, This cantrip is a minor magical trick
- 41:23that novice spellcasters use for practice. Its effects include snuffing out a candle,
- 41:30flavoring non living materials, and creating sensory effects such as a smell. Okay,
- 41:36is this one pressed to digitation that they mentioned in the previous I think
- 41:40it is, and I'm so glad that they mentioned it because I would have
- 41:45had a really hard time getting that. One we have to see if it's
- 41:49right, and two we have to spell it. Oh, it absolutely is
- 41:52correct. Yeah. I couldn't do a spelling game without including press to digitation.
- 41:58So take it away, Derek. I'll go first. P R E
- 42:08S T I D I G I T A T I. Oh. Yes,
- 42:34suppress the digitation. Oh the stress. There's a couple of tricky points
- 42:45that we navigated so gracefully. I Derek had about seven eyes in a row.
- 42:52I am of syllables in the middle of that word was really fucking me,
- 43:01my bread. That was incredible. Oh it's yeah. This is a
- 43:05tense game show, guys. Okay, y'all, okay, we have one
- 43:12final question and one final word to be spelled. Here. It is twin
- 43:15magic. Here is your question. Also known as deep zealots or demon rays,
- 43:21these aperations are an intelligent aquatic race resembling a manta ray that dwells in
- 43:28the oceans of terrill. The fuck is any of that? This is home
- 43:39brew. This is Matt's punishing us for some reason. I think you'll find
- 43:46it's in that precious guide that you have close by, As you mentioned earlier.
- 43:52Don't know, ship raise the Miami devil rays, the Miami devil raises
- 44:00like your fine lines. Wait are they from Tampa? Ship forget? That's
- 44:06why you would get it wrong. I'm sure tol is the Florida of d
- 44:19Dude, I have no idea, no clue. We could just say a
- 44:21word in ray and maybe that's it. Devil ray ship. No, no,
- 44:28it was. It was demon raised to be fair U cool cuckoo little
- 44:34race. It is not devil rays. The creature I'm looking for is ex
- 44:42is actual? Exis actual? This is fucking bullshit. Matt rather spell ax
- 44:50a lot I X. I'm so sorry. Oh wait, no, my
- 44:59bad, that's correct. Sorry, I was reading I was reading a letter
- 45:00head. That's my bad. It is. Let's let's redo that. I'll
- 45:05cut that. Okay, say X again, Chris X. Yes I've never
- 45:10said yes. After you have to leave all that in. All right,
- 45:22So you've got I an X that is correct so far I X Z.
- 45:28Oh. I'm so sorry. Now you're wrong. It is an I.
- 45:30After that, it's I X I T X A C H I T L.
- 45:40Yes. I think it's actually spelled b U l L s H.
- 45:46That's what I'm saying, some home brew bullshit. Don't don't listen to him,
- 45:51Chris, that's the British spelling. Yeah, man, we spell it
- 45:55differently here. I don't. Okay. If you can like alumit yeah,
- 46:00if you can use it and it's like aluminum, that sounds the same.
- 46:02But you just say it wrong exactly. Okay. That is the end of
- 46:12round one. I wrote all of these when Udra was going to be scorekeeping
- 46:15for us, so I've just realized that's the thing. So I've got to
- 46:19figure this out. That's the end of round one. I'll just now work
- 46:22out the initiative order, and while I'm at it, to calculate the current
- 46:25scores. That's improv Okay. We have the Buckle Buddies on six points and
- 46:30Twin Magic on three points. We'll get it back. We'll get it back.
- 46:35Everyone loves an underdog story Bro trivia. Round means nothing anyways in the
- 46:38long run. Let's be for real. Yeah it's yeah, yeah, it's
- 46:43gonna get much crazier now because up next is round two. But first some
- 46:46ads, unless, of course, you cast silence either way back soon okay.
- 46:58Round two is called mass Tasker. It's a D and D themed version
- 47:02of the game we played in our task Master episode where our pairs will each
- 47:06have five minutes to complete ten mini challenges. The D and D tasks I
- 47:12would like you to complete will be numbered one through ten. You can select
- 47:15any number at any time and I will readout the task. Multiple tasks can
- 47:20be completed at the same time and may have to be and only one person
- 47:24from the pair needs to complete each task. You can pass on a task
- 47:29and come back to it, and I'll keep track of which tasks you've completed,
- 47:34with each completed task being worth one point for a maximum of ten points.
- 47:37It will probably involve one of us leaving their desk to run and do
- 47:45something just honestly, part of the reason that I wanted to do standing desk
- 47:50for this. Gosh, you're ready, Stratt and twin magic. I'll actually
- 47:55let you decide if you want to go first or second. Buget, let's
- 47:59do it for a st then okay, hoefully stuff going first, and you
- 48:02don't have to do them in order. You can say the numbers in any
- 48:06order you want. Your time starts now. Ten, find any book.
- 48:13Read the first paragraph in your best dungeon Master narration voice introduction. It's good
- 48:19to be the dungeon master. Not only do you get to tell fantastic stories
- 48:22but herees villains, masters, and magic, but you also get to create
- 48:24the world in which these stories live. Whether you're running a D and D
- 48:28game already or you think it's something you want to write, this is this
- 48:30book is nice live. That's definitely a point. Did you have to be
- 48:35British? Yes? Next number oh nine nine uh, say the entire chorus
- 48:44of any Abba song. As a wise old wizard. You can look up
- 48:49lyrics that exists. Ship Yeah yeah, sweet only servant, little wiser,
- 48:57little wiser from the tambary. Oh yeah, I feel the pace of the
- 49:07kid. It's you can cry, I above your alive, poor girl.
- 49:15But queen, it's lovely. I'll give you the point that lovely stuff a
- 49:22go find something that represents a dragon and show it to the camera. Ship
- 49:30how about no, no, no, uh a ship that's close enough A
- 49:37legendary fly bird un technically a bird. I think it's a legendary, dude.
- 49:44I don't think that thing counts as a bird. If it was,
- 49:50if it was dragone or Charazar. Absolutely dragon dragon. There we go.
- 49:54I see a dragon. Lovely point seven compose and s and an email to
- 50:00Gateleapers at gmail dot com. The body of the email must contain the names
- 50:05of ten real D and D spells. Do you got that, Adam?
- 50:09Or do you want me to do it? You do that one? I
- 50:14do you have one? We only have one? Keep going, keep going?
- 50:17Number? Was that the seven six six? Oh no, you failed
- 50:23a wisdom saving throw? Laugh hideously for twenty seconds? What's the email address
- 50:37again? For seconds? Gateleapers at email? Be more seconds. I'll do
- 50:49that'll do. That's some hideous laughing. Indeed, we have to mess with
- 50:52the levels on that one. Keep going, Adam, I'm going, oh,
- 50:58yes, shit, I forgot five. Roll a natural twenty on a
- 51:01D twenty and show it to camera. Got it in box? Nice?
- 51:13Oh, Chris has got it. Chris's rolled twenty? Nice? Nice?
- 51:15Poor some have ever rolled one. Four. You're a Bard and you just
- 51:22killed an Ogre. Describe how you finish him. Oh, I'm a Bard
- 51:25and I've just killed an Ogre. I've never even played a goddamn Bard before.
- 51:31Uh I uh vicious mockery, Yeah, and I laugh like that.
- 51:37But for forty seconds, I need to what happens? Then? How does
- 51:45he die? Oh? Fox, I'm so, I'm literally thinking about the
- 51:49last Ogre that we killed, and that's all I can think about that fucking
- 51:52big, blue, fat, slimy guy. Uh and he's yeah, then
- 51:58I just beat him to death with my fucking Yeah. That counts. That
- 52:00works for me. There's a point two. I don't know a number of
- 52:06to name five creatures classified as fiends. One? What's what's what's one?
- 52:15Can we can? I can? I pass on that? Oh yeah,
- 52:16sorry, yeah, sorry, that's my bad. One. Go make something
- 52:20that could believably be a healing potion and drink it close to the microphone.
- 52:24Okay, you've got thirty seconds. You still have three if you're interested.
- 52:31Three? Yeah, what's three? Draw an original fantasy map of a place
- 52:36called ever Summer. You have ten seconds and there's currently three ongoing tasks five.
- 52:50H Okay, I see that. The time's up. I see a
- 52:52healing potion, got drunk in front of the camera. I'm taking the email
- 52:57and you send the email. Yeah. I don't know how many spells I
- 53:00put in there. Yeah, I got it. It came through thirty seconds
- 53:04ago. That's not that's not enough spells. Shit, sorry, I needed
- 53:10I needed ten. That was only six. I'm so sorry, damn it.
- 53:16But look it did pretty well by my count. You got seven tasks
- 53:22complete out of ten. Well done. I think that's solid. I think
- 53:24that's solid. Are you tired, Chrissy? You're glad you had the standing
- 53:28desk? Yeah? Yeah, I am. Actually, I'm really glad.
- 53:32Okay, it is time for another list for another team, and this time
- 53:37it is going to be the Buckle Buddies, and you have no choice but
- 53:40to have list two. So I will start the timer three two one one
- 53:47they started at the top. Less, start at THEE one. Compose and
- 53:51send an email to gate Leapers at gmail dot com. The body of the
- 53:53email must contain the names of ten real D and D spells. That's if
- 54:00you want to start that one two two go find something you might find in
- 54:06a dungeon and show it to camera. Uh oh, I've just realized how
- 54:14this could backfire. I was thinking like plates and cups and that. What
- 54:16kind of dungeon you talking about their gay master. I'm also tired, but
- 54:27just pretend I made a Chris Harrison joke right there. Yeah, it's nice.
- 54:35It's a shive. I'll take that. That's that's something. Three.
- 54:39Three say the entire chorus of any Abbas song as a horrible little gobbling.
- 54:45Oh, money, money, money must be funny in a rich man's world.
- 54:52Yeah, that's all that. That's a short chorus, that one.
- 54:53So yeah, fair enough, that's a point. That's perfect. Four four,
- 55:00Oh no, you failed a wisdom saving throw. Dance irresistibly for twenty
- 55:04seconds? Should I just irresistible to me? Get it? As long as
- 55:12you keep dancing Sprinkler for twelve more seconds. I'm ashamed at how much my
- 55:16knees are doing like a wobble as I do everything seven seconds. Got to
- 55:22keep the knees active while dancing. Yeah, keep a little spring in your
- 55:25step. All right, there we go. There's a point. The only
- 55:30time I'm used to seeing Derek like this, Okay, I, oh my
- 55:35god, I spent ten years on that. Five. Five roll a critical
- 55:39fail on a D twenty and show the camera. Uh four, oh,
- 55:46you've done four already. Oh oh. Six you're a barbarian and you just
- 55:52killed an ogre. Describe how you finish him. My stomp on his damn
- 55:57head. Gonna get very much. No, I use it recklessly. That's
- 56:02my friends, strike clear enough, lovely. I heard enough stuff there,
- 56:07and the email is also worth a point. That's ten spells on the email
- 56:09there. Nice, and we've got a we got ant one there. Seven.
- 56:16Seven draw an original fantasy map of a place called ever Winter. I
- 56:22got that. Eight eight go make something that could believably be a potion of
- 56:29strength and drink it in close to the microphone. Nine name five creatures classified
- 56:37as undead. Find any book. Read the last paragraph in your best dungeon
- 56:45master narration voice. All right, now they've both gone. Now I've got
- 56:52a Now I've got a vamp for dead air here. Now I'll read to
- 56:55their listeners while I'm kidding my book cover. Oh my god, Oh I'm
- 57:01so sorry. That's fine. It's just the it's the Inheritance series, so
- 57:06it's it's cool. No one gets loved but you know it's fine. Yeah,
- 57:12ye, health potion. There we go, Derek's drinking a health potion
- 57:15in front of the camera. Derek, can you confirm what type of potion
- 57:25that was? It is a health potion. I'm so sorry. I can't
- 57:30give you the point. It was a strength potion. He strided through the
- 57:37long cavern of time, scattering the full self of his dream. That that
- 57:43was the final paragraph. Okay, I question everyone's DM voices. This is
- 57:46what Derek sounds like. What was that the last paragrapher? Do fucking spoilers?
- 57:54Nice? Yep, that's good. That's good enough for me. You
- 57:58got thirty seconds left to name far preachers classified as undead zombies, Yeah,
- 58:05litches, necromancers, ghoules, algols. Yeah, yeah, I'll take it
- 58:15that. Feah, that's five What have we not done? You've done everything,
- 58:19done everything, and you have five seconds to spare. What do you
- 58:22want to do with five seconds? Fuck you guys. Wait, they didn't
- 58:27get one. You only beat us my two bitches, lovely stuff. I
- 58:37do enjoy the chaos that game grades. The look on my face when you
- 58:44said find something you could find in a dungeon and I just went and then
- 58:51ran downstairs and walked back upstairs. Oh lovely stuff. Okay, that is
- 59:00the end of the round. Let's see if I can unscramble these words of
- 59:05chaos and check in with the latest scores. Numbers of chaos is what it
- 59:08would be. So we have the Buckle Buddies on fifteen points and Twin Magic
- 59:15on ten points. Oh, everyone loves a good comeback story. Just you
- 59:22wait, guys, come back happening wheny A points still available, anything can
- 59:27happen. Okay, party, You hear a familiar jingle that signals the end
- 59:30of something, but you can't quite remember what. Then you feel a strange
- 59:36wetness in your ears. Did a mind flavor manage to infect you while you
- 59:39were sleeping? No, you just need to clean your ear buds. They're
- 59:43disgusting, so you have to be okay. Round three is called Glinnet.
- 59:53To win it and for this game will need the help of our other executive
- 59:58producer, Ash Wood. Hello, hello Ash. Now this game is going
- 1:00:02to test our players creative problem solving skills within the world of D and D,
- 1:00:08but also how well they know their adventuring companion Glenn, which is Ash's
- 1:00:13character in our Buckleberry Community College campaign, Ash, could you tell the listeners
- 1:00:19a bit about Glenn what kind of guy he is? Yeah, so Glenn
- 1:00:22is a ferval, which I picked because he's a giant, cute, little
- 1:00:28cowl guy ish and so he, you know, Glenn is just he's kind
- 1:00:35of plunky, he's kind of clumsy, he kind of doesn't pay attention to
- 1:00:39things. He's distracted, he wants a snack most of the time, you
- 1:00:45know. So really he's just the kind of character that is just going with
- 1:00:50the flow, following his party and agent when he has to, you know.
- 1:00:55Yeah, like classic Barbarian I connect to Glynn on a spirit spiritual level,
- 1:01:01distracted once a snack rages when he has to literally Amen. Yeah,
- 1:01:10Glenn is perfect. We love Glenn. So for this game, I have
- 1:01:15three scenarios for each team. I will read the scenario in my best Dungeon
- 1:01:20Master voice, which is apparently just a very British accent, so I'll British
- 1:01:22it up. I will read the scenario and then our pair will offer some
- 1:01:28kind of creative solution to the situation. If you use D and D language
- 1:01:31to solve the problem, I'll give you a point. Oh and for your
- 1:01:35answer, will assume that you have a full balanced party at your disposal.
- 1:01:37So just you can name any spells, you can sort of any basic equipment,
- 1:01:42nothing too crazy. But then for an additional point, you must answer
- 1:01:45the question wwgd what would Glynn do? Because Ash has written down an answer
- 1:01:52for each of these situations, and if you get close to that answer,
- 1:01:57I'll give you a bonus point. Nice. Okay, So we will begin
- 1:02:01with the buckle buddies. Here is your first situation. You stumble upon an
- 1:02:07old ruin. It's crumbled bricks strewn across a decay in courtyard. In the
- 1:02:13center of the courtyard, you notice a statue perfectly intact, as though the
- 1:02:16passing of an age has had no effect on the marble. Suddenly, a
- 1:02:22ghostly voice emanates from the statue. Done back, what do you do?
- 1:02:30Step one? I'm not turning back, yep, because I'm not a coward.
- 1:02:36I'm gonna investigate the like plinth of the statue, maybe cast like an
- 1:02:40identify or a detect magic nice, you know anything you'd add to that,
- 1:02:46Derek, Yeah, And I think have the team kind of spread out,
- 1:02:52so you know, nothing could hit them all grouped together if they were to
- 1:02:59be attacked, maybe some maybe a rogue in the group kind of stand back
- 1:03:04and not reveal themselves until it just starts going down. Good Strat's good gameplay
- 1:03:12as a point. But now the important point. I need you to answer
- 1:03:15the question WWGD. I think Glenn would look and see if there were snacks
- 1:03:22on the altar, like anyone placed anything. And you know what I feel
- 1:03:30like, Glenn. If Glenn didn't see any snacks on the altar, Glenn
- 1:03:34would kind of be like, you know what, dude wants to be left
- 1:03:37alone. Cool and I respect that. Yeah, yeah, check out the
- 1:03:42nearby buildings see if there's anything. Okay, so we'll say, look,
- 1:03:46look for snacks, not interact with the statue, and maybe check some nearby
- 1:03:51buildings. So yeah, ash, what would Glynn do so before the boys
- 1:03:55could even finish saying don't turn back, he has already touch the statue.
- 1:04:03You just had to know what this guy was up to, you know,
- 1:04:08Yeah, absolutely, so I'm sorry. That is what Glenn would have done,
- 1:04:13straight from Glen's mouth. Dang. Okay, we will now have a
- 1:04:17scenario for twin Magic here. It is you make your way further into the
- 1:04:21crypt, pushing aside cobwebs as you try not to inhale the dank stench of
- 1:04:27those who are buried here. But before you take a step into the central
- 1:04:30chamber, you notice a small sliver of purple light between the cracks of the
- 1:04:35cobblestone floor. What do you do? I would cast illuminate or light or
- 1:04:42something like that to get a better look at what is happening right there.
- 1:04:48Nice, but not entering the room because that feels like a trap. Yeah,
- 1:04:54we're all very safe. We're all very safe in our actions. And
- 1:04:58when we played D and D yeah, definitely very risk averse, very risk
- 1:05:01averse. Yeah, same. Uh, you know, like probably have someone
- 1:05:06with the range magic close with you know, like perception on hand. You
- 1:05:11know, make sure that we ain't got any creepy boys already waiting there to
- 1:05:15get us. Yeah yeah, booh detect good and evil have so many casts
- 1:05:20to people like the Palatine or cleric. I think it's a Paladin spell.
- 1:05:26Yeah, well maybe both, Oh shit, Paladin. Yeah, that's that's
- 1:05:31good enough of me. That sounds like a good creative solution to that.
- 1:05:34But the important question w W G D. So whenever I try to think
- 1:05:41of what Glenn would do in this scenario. First off, Glen's a wildcard
- 1:05:45for for all of us, right, I feel like I feel like I
- 1:05:47feel like glensa wild card, even for Ash. You know, Ash just
- 1:05:53channels Glenn. I always have to always have to look at Glenn through the
- 1:05:57through the eyes of Snort, because we're both the front line fellas. So
- 1:06:04anytime we are adventuring or anything like that, we're kind of usually up from
- 1:06:11uh. And so for that reason, if Glenn's curiosity doesn't get the best
- 1:06:16of him, Snork's desire to be the badass will. So I would imagine
- 1:06:24that that one of them has is probably not done their due diligence and is
- 1:06:30going after the shiny light. I would imagine in this case it's probably Glenn
- 1:06:34first, But either way I would say that that Glenn is going right for
- 1:06:42it. But also this this will be after Glenn tries to find whatever that
- 1:06:48dank smell is. Oh well, of course, of course what's in the
- 1:06:56middle of right now? Yeah, that so we'll say Glenn Glenn tries to
- 1:07:01interact with the light on the floor, but also is following the smell.
- 1:07:06That's that's also part of it. Always, Okay, Ash what would Glenn
- 1:07:11do? Oh, we're following that crack light, you know, like like
- 1:07:15a head down, like a kid following a painted line. Glynn's like,
- 1:07:19that's a shiny thing, gotta find it. Well, all rightn' that's magic
- 1:07:25barb too. And I know that there have been a couple of times where
- 1:07:27Glenn's had that shiny light in the middle of combat. So so maybe it's
- 1:07:31Glenn's mother. Oh, ship is the light? Mo Oh? I can't
- 1:07:35make cannon? These are these are non cannon. I can't make cannon.
- 1:07:40Derek's not in charge right now. Let's go Matt. This is the time
- 1:07:45to change things. We're all twentieth level. We create the world you want
- 1:07:49to be. Also, everyone left in the Sinister six is kind of a
- 1:07:53bit okay, uh, Let's let's have another scenario. Let's have some more
- 1:07:59fun. Throw it back up over to the buckle buddies. Here it is.
- 1:08:01You notice your mark across the other side of the busy tavern, coin
- 1:08:05purse at his hip, fat and overflowing from a day of tax collecting.
- 1:08:11You notice he's drunk, but it will still be difficult to retrieve your olde
- 1:08:15bounty as he's loudly chatting with two associates. You don't want to make too
- 1:08:20much of a scene for the locals. What do you do? Andrew's is
- 1:08:25this where we send the barden to seduce and separate? I was just going
- 1:08:32to say, seduction check, get him upstairs, fucking kill him and kill
- 1:08:43him or fucking kill him the how how attractive is he? Dearren? Stop
- 1:08:55DM in for one hour and he's already trying to fucking n PC. I
- 1:08:58swear to go. Yeah, that's a that's a valid answer. That's one
- 1:09:03way to get the coin post, for sure. But what would Glenn do?
- 1:09:09I think Glenn would just go over there and be like, your ship,
- 1:09:14give me the coin. I'm gonna beat your ass. I don't like
- 1:09:21you, and I think that that money is uh. I think I don't
- 1:09:27like you. Would you like to come outside so that we can fight?
- 1:09:30Okay, so just straight up ask and be direct about it and ask that
- 1:09:34fight. What are your thoughts, Derek? Yeah, I think Glenn just
- 1:09:39walks up and wants to fight it, like, does not care about the
- 1:09:44surroundings one goddamn bit. It's like not gonna try to do subterfuge, all
- 1:09:50right, we'll just say, we'll say, Glenn just straight up starts a
- 1:09:54fight. Ash, what what is the correct answer? So obviously he's a
- 1:09:59little a too plumsy to not make a scene. So he's just gonna kind
- 1:10:02of go through make his way through the crowd, you know, kind a
- 1:10:05busy place. He's just gonna scoop the guy up and take him outside so
- 1:10:10he can finish this. So Okay, that sounds close enough to me.
- 1:10:14Yeah, that's that's the point right there. I like the addition of the
- 1:10:18scooping as well. Yeah, a good scoop, a big scooper. Yeah.
- 1:10:25Here is another scenario for twin magic. Your hands abound and you're brought
- 1:10:30to the longhouse of the Goblin Chief. His armed guard throws you on the
- 1:10:35ground before his rotten feet. He rises from his throne and stands at his
- 1:10:41towering four feet tall. His gnarled mouth barks a simple command, make me
- 1:10:47laugh, or I'll slice you up. What do you do? I'd hate
- 1:10:51to just have a bard fix all of our situations. But a bard stand
- 1:10:57up and do a tight five. Yeah. See. I think though,
- 1:11:00I think there's definitely a fighter, or a ranger or a barbarian or something
- 1:11:08like that that has some sort of like disgusting in joke with the group,
- 1:11:14like the fighter is going to try to like fart on command and he ships
- 1:11:16his pants or something like that like kills and kills the vibe before you know,
- 1:11:21like does bad and then the Bard comes in and saves it, or
- 1:11:28or we could even do it the other way around, where the Bard bombs
- 1:11:31his tied five and then just the barbarian just rips a wet, wet one
- 1:11:40that just lays out the goblins. Yeah, it would lay out the goblins
- 1:11:46and lay out the goblin chief with laughter, because that's that's a amadanza.
- 1:11:49Absolutely, Uh, there you go. But what would Glenn do in this
- 1:11:56situation? I think I know exactly what Glenn doing. This situation is all
- 1:12:00party, we're all we're all bound up. Yeah, yeah, we'll say
- 1:12:04everyone's together. Yeah, Glenn rages. Glenn ragees immediately. Yeah, it's
- 1:12:10goblins and goblins have have tied up Glenn's friends. Glenn rages, I would
- 1:12:15imagine, grabs it by his little goblin ankles. Yeah, you give me
- 1:12:21some angry scoops. Does Glenn rip a wet one as well? Having another
- 1:12:30one of those out buddy experiences, just a little one, just one.
- 1:12:38And it's the main thing is you will get a point if if Glenn rages,
- 1:12:41you will get a point. So ash, what would Glenn do?
- 1:12:45I wrote down rage, nice lovely stuff, the fact that Glenn is so
- 1:12:58chill, but just any time violence is an option. It's not like Glenn
- 1:13:04gets violent if he needs to know. It's like Glenn will get violent if
- 1:13:09that will work. It's not that she's an angry, violent creature. He
- 1:13:16just likes to rage. Yeah, sometimes it's the best way for harmony to
- 1:13:25be restored again, especially like with the nature energy that Glenn brings. I
- 1:13:31was like, if we just fight it out, we can go back to
- 1:13:34having a good time. Yeah, that's how we'll solve all the world problems.
- 1:13:38More walls, gets it, Yeah, finish the war. Great stuff.
- 1:13:47I've got one more scenario for each team this time, you know,
- 1:13:50a little little more social realist, a little a little more grounded. Maybe
- 1:13:56connects to our college campaign that we currently play. Uh. The scenario for
- 1:14:00buckle Buddies here, it is your crush enters the campus cafe. They don't
- 1:14:05notice you sat at the table right by the counter, but that's okay.
- 1:14:10They probably just weren't looking. Your heart pounds As you watch them order a
- 1:14:15flat white, your palms begin to feel clammy at the thought. This moment
- 1:14:18is slipping through your fingers. Now is your chance ask them? Do you
- 1:14:25want to go to spring fling with me? That's ballad? Derek? Would
- 1:14:32you do anything differently? That's what it needs to be, exactly what it
- 1:14:38needs to be. There we go there. There is your role play point.
- 1:14:45But what would Glinn do in this situation? Would Glenn ask them to
- 1:14:49have a snack with him? Or I imagine a conversation where Glinder says,
- 1:14:59are you doing anything Friday? And they say no, and Glenn says awesome.
- 1:15:09Like the conversation. So Glenn asks, but then doesn't know what to
- 1:15:15do once the answer happens. I like it. I like it. You
- 1:15:20just might not care, you know, it's like, yeah, he's just
- 1:15:26like sick. And then darn, I hope you find something fun to do
- 1:15:31this weekend. That what would Glenn actually do? That was a brilliant Glenn
- 1:15:41answer. However, Glynn Glynn question. Rather, Glynn would actually say,
- 1:15:46would you want to eat an apple? And commune with the trees with me.
- 1:15:50Oh, yes, I should have gone with yours, Derek, where
- 1:15:55you said, is he gonna ask if they want snacks? I should the
- 1:16:00gown with years. Oh yeah, oh I love that classic Glynn to to
- 1:16:06just go buy a tree, just go go hang out by a tree.
- 1:16:10M So no point there for the for the Glenn answer. But we do
- 1:16:13have one final scenario for twin magic here. So here it is. You're
- 1:16:18led into the Dean's office. The moment you've been dreading for a week has
- 1:16:24finally arrived. I must say, I'm rather disappointed in you, says the
- 1:16:29dean. You say nothing, sick with fear and trembling, as though all
- 1:16:32adolescence has melted away. Well, your grades are failing. Why shouldn't I
- 1:16:39banish you from my holes? How do you answer him? I would probably
- 1:16:44say you probably do have every right to to banish me. But my my
- 1:16:54my parents are pretty big donors, you know, they're the It's the only
- 1:17:00reason I got here in the first place. My high school GPA would reflect
- 1:17:04that, sir, Oh, of course, yes, you're one of the
- 1:17:08rich ones. Yeah that's a valodansa. Yeah, that's that's back him off.
- 1:17:17Yeah, So for that situation in the Dean's office, Adam and Chris,
- 1:17:20what would Glenn do? Would Glenn just take an apple out and start
- 1:17:26eating it and leave? Well, yeah, I think if Glenn, We'll
- 1:17:30see. The thing is, if Glenn had any snacks that would have been
- 1:17:32gone by, like on the way to the dean's office, I would imagine
- 1:17:35good point. I would say that Glenn would probably ask for clarification as to
- 1:17:43what is happening after that whole speech, I would say that none of that
- 1:17:46really got through, right, and so like, ye know what's going on,
- 1:17:51probably not completely like not totally sure what the grasp of the situation is.
- 1:17:58Thank you for telling me that I'm sorry that happened to you or happy
- 1:18:02it did whatever, have a good day, and then leave. Yeah,
- 1:18:05okay, okay, anything to add to that, Chris. Well, but
- 1:18:09also if if the dean is saying this to the group and it's all of
- 1:18:15us leaving, Glenn passed all all his classes anyways, so even though he's
- 1:18:19not really paying attention, he probably I mean, he not paying attention,
- 1:18:26but also isn't going to get actually expelled because he actually passed all his classes
- 1:18:30kind of on accident. Yeah, if if if the whole group is here,
- 1:18:33Glenn is either looking for snacks and the dean's office or probably watching a
- 1:18:39butterfly out the window while oh yeah, knowing that Roger's gonna talk. Sure
- 1:18:45if if I hear a snacks or butterfly or general confusion the situation, we'll
- 1:18:53give you the we'll give you the point that ash. What would Glenn do?
- 1:18:57Yes, so Glynn is not you to talking or defending himself. I
- 1:19:00took this as that it was just Flynn in the office. Yeah, that's
- 1:19:06kind of what I was picturing. I think. Well, so he would
- 1:19:10look around the room for Roger and then find Roger to do the talking part
- 1:19:17for bulks can do hidden stuff, and he would just become invisible right there.
- 1:19:23They all know he's there, and he knows they know that, but
- 1:19:25he just doesn't know what to be doing. Nice. Yeah, wild card,
- 1:19:30but perfectly on brand especially So Yeah, no points there, guys,
- 1:19:35but a good genuine answer from Glynn. Hey, but we did say look
- 1:19:40for Roger. Yeah that is true. You did say look for Roger,
- 1:19:45Adam, And that's pretty spot on. Whether you know what to make this
- 1:19:48more tense for the quick fire around because you're miles behind. Let's let's say
- 1:19:51you can that. Okay, that is the end of on three. Let's
- 1:20:00ask Volo to deliver the latest scores. Oh, the voice actor is too
- 1:20:04expensive on Cameo, I'll do it instead. Then, okay, we have
- 1:20:11the Buckle Buddies are still in the lead on nineteen points. Yeah, Twin
- 1:20:15Magic have caught up a little bit. They're on sixteen points. Underdogs.
- 1:20:21We've been saying that we've been calling our shot you have you have magic under
- 1:20:27Cobald's spell sluts spell sluts, and you're not even called spell sluts. I'll
- 1:20:34have cut that part out where you're talking about redoing your name. No,
- 1:20:38it's not our official name. It's just what they call us in the streets.
- 1:20:44Okay, what do they call you in the sheets? Never mind?
- 1:20:51Okay, well, either team could still win. We still have the quick
- 1:20:55fire around ahead. But before we get to the quick fire around, let's
- 1:20:58talk prizes. This epiod so Star Prize. It is the concept of collaborative
- 1:21:01storytelling. It is amazing how many problems can be solved through meta narrative collaboration.
- 1:21:08But if you're wondering why we haven't solved the world's major problems. Yet
- 1:21:12it's because it's really tough to coordinate eight billion schedules to get together for a
- 1:21:15session. But our winning team will also receive a one of a kind set
- 1:21:23of polyhedral dice. And it's one of a kind in that it's a D
- 1:21:27three, a D seven, a D nine, a D thirteen, a
- 1:21:30D twenty one, and a D forty nine, seven hundred and sixty two
- 1:21:34big dice. Yeah, you were playing chrono classes. That's crawled back up.
- 1:21:45Next is our crucial quick fire around, But first we simply must play
- 1:21:48one final set of ads. If you don't enjoy the current version of capitalism,
- 1:21:54don't worry. They're working on one that's way less crunchy but costs a
- 1:21:57whole lot more at point of entry. Okay, our final quick fire around
- 1:22:10will test your broader pop culture knowledge, and it's called dungeons. And now
- 1:22:15I could have asked our players about famous dungeons, but we're saving that for
- 1:22:18our prison Break episode in season nine. So instead, in this game,
- 1:22:24I will give our players clues to a dragon from pop culture history. Those
- 1:22:29clues will be given in the style of a local peasant describing the dragon attack.
- 1:22:32They just witnessed, and there's of course a classic gate leapers twist.
- 1:22:38You need to describe how you're going to kill this dragon as you deliver your
- 1:22:42answer. So your ideal answer would be something like, I kill name of
- 1:22:46dragon with a spear to the eye. That's just one exam You can kill
- 1:22:50this dragon in any way you want laughter that specific. No, no,
- 1:22:56not law specific. That would be even too crazy for this quick fire around.
- 1:23:00There's al too much going on. Jesus Christ, you buzz in by
- 1:23:02yelling out your team name. So let's practice that now, buddy. It's
- 1:23:11just so, it's so funny. Buckle, buckle, buddy, it's so
- 1:23:15many like fun consonants there. There's a lot of fun consonants going on.
- 1:23:19Twin Twin magic as well. Twin just just just twin. I'll do right,
- 1:23:25yeah, twin, I'll give I'll give you an example so I can
- 1:23:30figure out, well, absolutely exhausted and about to pass out, what this
- 1:23:33peasant is going to sound like? Well, I knows what I saw as
- 1:23:39a great serpent came forth from the lonely mountain and besieged the city. It's
- 1:23:44gonna be Chris, It's uh smell. Can I shoot it? With him
- 1:23:48and I shoot him with an arrow. There we go, There we go.
- 1:23:51That would be the perfect answer, and it would be worth a point
- 1:23:55if it wasn't just the practice question. You can give us a point if
- 1:23:58you want. I mean, nah, it's your world. You can whatever
- 1:24:01you want. Now, I'm done with that. I've I've finished that with
- 1:24:04those manta rare things I made up. Okay, here we go, I
- 1:24:11will start the timer now. Well, I knows what I saws. A
- 1:24:15giant orange lizard breathing fire attacks from its Yes. Oh, I'm so sorry,
- 1:24:25Derek, I can't give you the point. It's absolutely correct. It
- 1:24:27is Charazad. You just needed to say how you would kill Charizad. I'm
- 1:24:31so, I'm so sorry. It's a I don't well, I do make
- 1:24:34the rules you make and enforce them, and you're not going to stop.
- 1:24:42Just for the record, though, Pikachu would fry that bitch. Yes,
- 1:24:45that's true. That's true. Pictures o p though it's the problem. Well,
- 1:24:47I knows what I saw is a local groundskeeper raising such a dangerous creature.
- 1:24:54Ship it off to Romania and let it be any gender. Yes,
- 1:24:57Chris, is that Chris the Hungarian horn Horn it's Harry Potter's Hungarian hornback and
- 1:25:05I kill it with my wand yeah, I'll take that. That's the that's
- 1:25:10the correct type of the dragons, dragon Heart, Norberts or nobertas lately to
- 1:25:19be revealed when J. J. Rowling was more progressive. Well, I
- 1:25:24knows what I saw is a huge black and red dragon being written by some
- 1:25:29blonde lass claiming to be its mother Buckleberries. Yes, is it dro gone?
- 1:25:38And I'd kill him just with the slow decay of times. Yeah,
- 1:25:43I'll take that it is dragon from Game of Thrones absolutely. Well, I
- 1:25:46knows what I saw is a small black dragon being written by J. Barroshelle.
- 1:25:54Yes, Chris, it's toothless, and I kill him with J.
- 1:25:57Barroshell's grating voice. Yep, valid way to kill a dragon. Well,
- 1:26:04I knows what I saws, and I saw that twelve year old boy turn
- 1:26:08into a great white dragon with a green mane. But there were no other
- 1:26:12witnesses. They all turned into pigs or summit. Oh buckle Berry, yes,
- 1:26:17old is this I cannot remember his name Haru from Spirited Away and I
- 1:26:25kill him with falling damage. Okay, yes, sure it's it's it's haku.
- 1:26:32But you said you said spirited away, which was if you name the
- 1:26:36property. That's That's what I was like, is it an r or is
- 1:26:39it a kay? Is it or? Well? I knows what I saws.
- 1:26:43A little purple dragon who is obsessed with collecting gems. Yeah, Adam
- 1:26:48or Chris, he's a childhood hero of mine. You could kill Spiro.
- 1:26:56I killed Spiro with Adam's hopes and dreams ship. I'm sorry, man,
- 1:27:09it's okay. I put all my hopes and dreams into that point. Well,
- 1:27:14I knows what I saw is I saw a flying white dog dragon that
- 1:27:17seemed to go on and on and on. Yes, Chris Felcorn, I
- 1:27:23shave him until he bleeds? Whoa dog? But incounter accurate? Ha?
- 1:27:32Well, I knows what I saws, and I'm not so sure this guy
- 1:27:35is a terrifying fire breathing dragon. In fact, when I saw him,
- 1:27:40he was just banging a gung to wake up the real dragon. Yeah,
- 1:27:45I do think that was Derek uh Moulan, Oh the little Dragon voiced by
- 1:27:53Eddie Murphy. Yeah, that's that's enough in terms of the dance. I
- 1:27:58kill him by feeding him to the dragon statue that he destroyed lovely stuff and
- 1:28:05it's Moosho. Is the is the name? Well? I knows what I
- 1:28:09saw is I saw a very standard animated dragon with eyelashes. You know what,
- 1:28:15Yes, Adam, Now I'm going to say that's Fiona, not not
- 1:28:21Fiona. Is not her name, but it's the dragon from Shrek. Is
- 1:28:26her name? Just Dragon? But I I kill her with the realization that
- 1:28:30her one true love is also voicing many other characters. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:28:38taking dragon rolls all over the pop culture sphere. Yeah, that absolutely is
- 1:28:43a point. It is just Dragon from Shrek. You didn't need to hear
- 1:28:45You didn't need to hear the sentence and it was getting sucked from behind by
- 1:28:48a donkey. Thanks for reading it anyways, man, Yeah, I had
- 1:28:57to. If you when you write a sentence like that, you've got to
- 1:28:59read it out. Okay. Well I knows what I saws, and I
- 1:29:02saw the protagonist of the classic nineteen sixties folk song by Peter Paul and Book
- 1:29:08Berry. Yeah that's gonna be Derek. Yeah you want to do? Okay,
- 1:29:14puff the magic Dragon gets shot by the cops. What a way to
- 1:29:18go? Puff? Well, I knows what I saw is I saw the
- 1:29:29founding cultural myth of England that might be responsible for all of colonials. As
- 1:29:34the beast is, yes, Derek the lock monster, and it's not the
- 1:29:41Lockness monster. I'll throw it over. I'll read the rest of the question
- 1:29:45as the beast is a metaphor for a non existent overseas threat that we must
- 1:29:49go out and slay twins. Yes, yes, Chris the dragon. Yeah,
- 1:29:56that's technically correct, and I kill it by a stopping spread of colonialism.
- 1:30:00Yep, that'll think that's probably for the best. Is there a dragon
- 1:30:05on the Welsh flag but not other British Yeah, yeah, but it's George
- 1:30:10and the dragon is the is the English but technically his name is dragon.
- 1:30:15Yeah, just the dragon. So that's that's good enough for me. I
- 1:30:17would have also accepted George and the un original. Okay, quick, quick,
- 1:30:25before the buzzer. I knows what I saw. I saw a piece
- 1:30:28of punctuation that was slotted between two of the same letters red or black.
- 1:30:32It was I think it means and and his copyright of some wizard on a
- 1:30:39coast buckle buddy, Yes, steric ampersand yeah, that's the I'll take it.
- 1:30:46It's the it's the Dragon that is the ampers and in the D and
- 1:30:49D logo, and we will kill it by going after a third parties who
- 1:31:00are just trying to make additional fun content for Yeah, there we go.
- 1:31:06There's the buzzer and a good shot at Wizards the Coast at Yes, Oh
