- 0:05Speaker 1: NFL Now is a production of the NFL in partnership
- 0:08Speaker 1: with I Heart Radio. So the Eagles are in and
- 0:19Speaker 1: there are thirteen spots still remaining in the NFL playoffs.
- 0:23Speaker 1: Welcome to a Monday edition here almost done with Group
- 0:25Speaker 1: fourteen of NFL Now on NFL Network. For our newsroom
- 0:29Speaker 1: in Los Angeles, I'm ANDREWS Ciciliano. Let's get to the
- 0:32Speaker 1: Jets and the Bills, the rematch from Week nine. You
- 0:34Speaker 1: know by now the Jets gave Josh Allen of the
- 0:36Speaker 1: Bills their worst offensive performance of the season in Week nine.
- 0:40Speaker 1: This game was ugly early Dawson knocks flipping into the
- 0:43Speaker 1: end zone the late second quarter. Touched at this game
- 0:45Speaker 1: open Steve with ten combined ends. Yeah, that was That
- 0:49Speaker 1: was a crucial score right before halftime, because you get
- 0:51Speaker 1: it broke the monotony of what was going on offensively
- 0:54Speaker 1: with both team. Matt mullane almost broke. Mike White update
- 0:58Speaker 1: on him coming up shortly three sacks, he was able
- 1:01Speaker 1: to go home, Bills go home a winner, twelve knocked
- 1:05Speaker 1: off pretending three you know, find ways to win football games,
- 1:08Speaker 1: and um, that's not what you want to hear. But um,
- 1:12Speaker 1: just playing complimentary smart football. Um, you know, not putting
- 1:15Speaker 1: ourselves in our defense in bad situations, and um, I'm
- 1:19Speaker 1: just trying to try and win football games no matter
- 1:21Speaker 1: how it happens. It doesn't look like an offense that
- 1:23Speaker 1: do not to win the SUPERB Ball right now. H
- 1:28Speaker 1: I think I speak for everyone and that we missed
- 1:29Speaker 1: a Now we're gonna see these guys again, so I
- 1:37Speaker 1: just think we are okay. May was that that one
- 1:44Speaker 1: Buffalo Okay? Yes, not not a great offensive game. Give
- 1:48Speaker 1: credit to Robert Sala's defense is still the one seed
- 1:50Speaker 1: in Robert Salas Jets right now are out of a
- 1:52Speaker 1: playoff spot. Mike, they are an eight seed. That Buffalo
- 1:57Speaker 1: defense beat up Mike White and did the job when
- 2:01Speaker 1: the offense didn't really have much going. Yeah, Andrew, I
- 2:08Speaker 1: thought one of the things to me that jumped out
- 2:10Speaker 1: from from basically the first nap of the game was
- 2:13Speaker 1: how relentless that Bill's defense was. And we heard it
- 2:15Speaker 1: from the Jets coming into the week, like we need
- 2:17Speaker 1: to be relentless because that's how you defend Josh Allen.
- 2:19Speaker 1: You have to chase after him. But there was a
- 2:21Speaker 1: physicality to this game from the Bills. Their defensive line
- 2:25Speaker 1: and linebackers were all over the field yesterday, and uh,
- 2:28Speaker 1: we gotta highlight Greg Russo right with Von Miller down.
- 2:31Speaker 1: Russo said, we're doing it for Vall. It's still part
- 2:33Speaker 1: of us. He's still phoning into the meetings. He's gonna
- 2:36Speaker 1: eventually come back to Buffalo to continue to tutor those guys,
- 2:38Speaker 1: and as you mentioned last week, Andrew to sort of
- 2:41Speaker 1: shadow Um Brandon Bean and perhaps be a GM someday.
- 2:45Speaker 1: But Russau is the guy that they put a lot
- 2:47Speaker 1: of energy and effort in first round pick two sacks yesterday,
- 2:50Speaker 1: forced to fumble, tip to pass, deflected another past. They
- 2:54Speaker 1: hurried Mike White and Joe Flacco twenty one times in
- 2:57Speaker 1: fifty one dropbacks. I think that's a pretty good number
- 3:00Speaker 1: and sort of shows you Steve what they're capable of
- 3:03Speaker 1: because they've invested a lot in those players on the edge,
- 3:06Speaker 1: the young guys a JP and SSA, Boogie Basheman and Rousseau,
- 3:09Speaker 1: and now they're getting some serious production from when they
- 3:12Speaker 1: needed well. I mean, and I'm so glad you're highlighting
- 3:14Speaker 1: the defensive front because you talk about the pressures they
- 3:16Speaker 1: put on Mike White, that's because they denied the run game,
- 3:19Speaker 1: right they they they earned the right to rush the past.
- 3:23Speaker 1: You look at the number of passing attempts that Mike
- 3:25Speaker 1: White and Joe Flacco had to have. I believe it
- 3:26Speaker 1: was right around forty seven. That is not a winning
- 3:29Speaker 1: formula for the Jets. But that's because they stifle the
- 3:32Speaker 1: run game. Look at the gap control that every gap
- 3:35Speaker 1: is filled on every single play, and the fact that
- 3:38Speaker 1: Mike White was able to show be his game as
- 3:41Speaker 1: he was and to be as tough as he was
- 3:43Speaker 1: to make the plays that he was to keep this
- 3:44Speaker 1: game interesting says a lot about the Jets opportunity and
- 3:47Speaker 1: Robert Sale's optimism. They're gonna see Buffalo again. But the
- 3:50Speaker 1: way this front, if they continue to play this way,
- 3:53Speaker 1: that is a headache. They've got Miami next week. They've
- 3:56Speaker 1: got a great opportunity to keep rolling the way that
- 3:59Speaker 1: they're rolling. On a short week for the Dolphins and
- 4:01Speaker 1: for both teams in Buffalo, that defensive front could really
- 4:04Speaker 1: dictate what happens to Buffalo moving forward. And the defensive
- 4:07Speaker 1: numbers the last two games against divisional opponents. Mike, you
- 4:11Speaker 1: were there for the Patriots game last week, twenty two
- 4:14Speaker 1: total points, allowed by the Bills in these two games,
- 4:16Speaker 1: both wins over the Patriots and the Jets, and they've
- 4:20Speaker 1: allowed only a hundred and thirty six total yards on
- 4:23Speaker 1: the ground in those two without Von Miller, Mike Yardy,
- 4:28Speaker 1: Steve Watch's thank you. Let's get an injury update now
- 4:30Speaker 1: on the quarterbacks, and we're gonna start with the guy
- 4:33Speaker 1: that we saw taking a beating. Tom Pelliser and Mike
- 4:36Speaker 1: Garrell follow, and that would be Mike White. He was
- 4:38Speaker 1: sacked only three times, but like every time you looked up,
- 4:41Speaker 1: you're kind of win sing going man, uh Garret follow.
- 4:44Speaker 1: That is one tough you know what that Mike White?
- 4:47Speaker 1: What's his status today? Yeah? Well a player said, uh
- 4:52Speaker 1: more obscene things in the locker room, not in a
- 4:54Speaker 1: bad way, but in support of Mike White. We can't
- 4:56Speaker 1: repeat that either here. But Mike White went to the
- 4:59Speaker 1: hospital after the game, the Jet saying it was more
- 5:01Speaker 1: precautionary than anything, and obviously checked out well enough to
- 5:05Speaker 1: be able to fly back home with the team. So
- 5:07Speaker 1: that is a great indication, as is the fact that
- 5:09Speaker 1: he returned to the game and won the respect of
- 5:12Speaker 1: his teammates despite not winning the game. Now, Robert Sala
- 5:15Speaker 1: set to step to the podium pretty much any minute
- 5:18Speaker 1: right now to give a day after evaluation. So I
- 5:20Speaker 1: guess Andrew keep an eye on Twitter and let him
- 5:22Speaker 1: let me know if he says anything while I'm talking
- 5:24Speaker 1: about this. But the Jets set to face the Detroit
- 5:26Speaker 1: Lions on Sunday at home, So no reason as of
- 5:30Speaker 1: right now to think that Mike White will not be available,
- 5:32Speaker 1: but we'll see about his status during the week. I meanwhile,
- 5:37Speaker 1: Mike a quarterback who get delivered a big win yesterday.
- 5:40Speaker 1: Brock Purdy, in his first NFL start, did so while
- 5:44Speaker 1: battling what coach Kyle Shanahan of the forty Niners referred
- 5:47Speaker 1: to as an oblique injury. My understanding is pretty actually
- 5:51Speaker 1: suffered that injury on the second drive of the game.
- 5:53Speaker 1: Was the third down play where he was scrambling for
- 5:56Speaker 1: first he dove That's where it occurred to ended up
- 5:58Speaker 1: getting called back for holding call anyway, but Purdy was
- 6:01Speaker 1: able to gut it out continue to play at a
- 6:04Speaker 1: really high level. Not a lot of concern from what
- 6:06Speaker 1: I've heard going into the additional testing today, but certainly
- 6:10Speaker 1: that's something to keep an eye on here. So is
- 6:12Speaker 1: Purdies just general soreness. Because remember a short week here
- 6:16Speaker 1: for the forty Niners. They've got the Seahawks in Seattle
- 6:19Speaker 1: on Thursday night and right and a little shine off
- 6:21Speaker 1: that game, but the Seahawks losing, but still a big
- 6:23Speaker 1: one to rematch. The Niners beat the Seahawks the first
- 6:27Speaker 1: time they faced each other in Santa Clara. You were
- 6:30Speaker 1: wincing on those Mike White hits. Tom, You're also wincing
- 6:34Speaker 1: on that big hit Russell Wilson took in the red
- 6:36Speaker 1: zone when he left the game with the big welt
- 6:38Speaker 1: on the side of his head. What's his update? And
- 6:43Speaker 1: Russell Wilson is in the concussion protocol. He was removed
- 6:46Speaker 1: from the game swiftly after hitting his head at the
- 6:49Speaker 1: end of that scramble, ending what might have been Russell
- 6:52Speaker 1: Wilson's best performance in and Broncos uniform as he attempted
- 6:55Speaker 1: to leave them back from a to nothing deficit. So
- 6:58Speaker 1: when you go into concussion protocol, there's a series of
- 7:01Speaker 1: steps that need to be passed, including and finally, had
- 7:05Speaker 1: being an independent neurologist clear you to return. So wilson
- 7:09Speaker 1: status will be worth monitoring through this week. If not,
- 7:12Speaker 1: you would anticipate it will be Brett Rippon, who took
- 7:14Speaker 1: over yesterday getting the start coming up this weekend. Same
- 7:17Speaker 1: thing in Pittsburgh, where can he? Pickett departed the game
- 7:20Speaker 1: after he ended up getting a concussion evaluation. Initially it
- 7:23Speaker 1: was announced the Picket had passed that evaluation, but then
- 7:27Speaker 1: he did not return to the game eventually was ruled out.
- 7:30Speaker 1: Mitch Drobiski took over, had some struggles to the course
- 7:33Speaker 1: that game gave away the football here. The Steelers will
- 7:36Speaker 1: have some choices to make in terms of what they
- 7:38Speaker 1: do if Picket is not clear. Remember, they also have
- 7:40Speaker 1: Mason Rudolph who has been inactive pretty much the entire
- 7:43Speaker 1: season as their number three quarterback right now, Mike and
- 7:47Speaker 1: the guy on the other side of that game, Tyler Huntley.
- 7:49Speaker 1: Uh and now it was reported during the game that
- 7:51Speaker 1: he was putting the concussion protocol and was questionable to return.
- 7:54Speaker 1: You're not in the protocol unless you're officially diagnosed with
- 7:58Speaker 1: the concussion, which John Harville never really said. He was
- 8:00Speaker 1: ruled out eventually, So Hardball is going to speak to
- 8:03Speaker 1: the media later this afternoon. He to say after the
- 8:05Speaker 1: game that Huntley was reciting I believe it was the
- 8:08Speaker 1: the States backward or something backward, and he says, I'll
- 8:12Speaker 1: bet you you reporter, guy who who didn't stop personally
- 8:16Speaker 1: head injury was once of the year. The months of
- 8:19Speaker 1: the year, that's what it was. States backwards. Would be
- 8:22Speaker 1: incredibly impressive if he could do that in reverse, no
- 8:25Speaker 1: matter what's going on. But yeah, months of the year backwards.
- 8:28Speaker 1: Uh So, John Harball seemed to indicate that Huntley was
- 8:32Speaker 1: doing pretty well after the game. Now, the other part
- 8:34Speaker 1: of this is what about Lamar Jackson's status. I do
- 8:37Speaker 1: know that they were at least holding out hope that
- 8:39Speaker 1: he would be available, and they got one less day
- 8:41Speaker 1: this week to prepare because they play the Browns on Saturday,
- 8:44Speaker 1: a game that's on NFL Network, a game that I
- 8:46Speaker 1: will be covering. I'm getting both of those plugs in
- 8:49Speaker 1: wherever I can, um, so we'll see about jackson status.
- 8:52Speaker 1: I would be very shocked if Hardball just like ruled
- 8:54Speaker 1: out Lamar Jackson today. So we're gonna have to monitor
- 8:56Speaker 1: him throughout the week. But I do know that they're
- 8:58Speaker 1: confident about Huntley. After yesterday's game, I was looking over
- 9:01Speaker 1: to White because he's going to be there to pack warmly.
- 9:03Speaker 1: It might be snowing and Eland end in Buffalo is
- 9:06Speaker 1: part of our triple head are coming up on Saturday.
- 9:08Speaker 1: It was Anthony Brown who came off the bench and
- 9:11Speaker 1: won that game for the Ravens. Pro Football Reference we
- 9:14Speaker 1: we use a lot to look up stats. Didn't even
- 9:16Speaker 1: have Anthony Brown in this system. Jeff Schwartzer, former Oregon
- 9:19Speaker 1: duck tweeted during the game, Anthony Brown's in the NFL. Yes, Um,
- 9:23Speaker 1: Anthony Brown is in the NFL and he played well.
- 9:26Speaker 1: I gotta win off the bench well lead them to
- 9:29Speaker 1: win double Back to the forty niners here, tom Uh.
- 9:32Speaker 1: Deebo Samuel seems to have avoided the worst, but it
- 9:37Speaker 1: is still gonna be a while. It certainly sounds that way.
- 9:41Speaker 1: Andrew Kyle Shanahan, speaking with reporters just a few minutes ago,
- 9:44Speaker 1: said that he had no updates on Deebo Samuel or
- 9:47Speaker 1: Brock Party because they're both right now getting additional imaging
- 9:50Speaker 1: on their injuries. But well, initially it looked like it
- 9:53Speaker 1: potentially could be a major type of an injury for
- 9:55Speaker 1: Deebo Samuel ends up being it certainly sounds like going
- 9:59Speaker 1: into this additional testing something less than that. But if
- 10:01Speaker 1: it is indeed what Kyle Shanahan said the initial reports were,
- 10:04Speaker 1: which is a high ankle sprain, that's still generally a
- 10:07Speaker 1: four to six week injury. We know Deebo Samuel is
- 10:10Speaker 1: really tough. He's willing to play through virtually anything, but
- 10:13Speaker 1: there are strength issues when you have that type of
- 10:16Speaker 1: an injury here. It's not something you can just tape
- 10:18Speaker 1: up like a low ankle sprain and go back into
- 10:20Speaker 1: the game. So we'll see what the additional tests reveal
- 10:22Speaker 1: for Deebo Samuel. But I would say it's fair to
- 10:24Speaker 1: say Andrew going into these tests some optimism that Debo
- 10:28Speaker 1: potentially could be available at some point here in the
- 10:31Speaker 1: postseason Sandwich at some point, but certainly not this coming Thursday,
- 10:34Speaker 1: Niners and the Seahawks. That is a game in Seattle
- 10:37Speaker 1: on t n F n f C West. So Brock
- 10:44Speaker 1: Purdy was born three months before Tom Brady was drafted,
- 10:49Speaker 1: and Brock Purtty outplayed Tom Brady yesterday. Granted, defenses have
- 10:53Speaker 1: a lot to do with it, but here's Purdy to
- 10:55Speaker 1: Christian McCaffrey and the Niners are rolland twenty one to nothing.
- 10:59Speaker 1: Dad got a little emotional, I mean understandable. It's understandable.
- 11:05Speaker 1: Debo got emotional as well. Deebo Samuel, who Mike Garrelfolo
- 11:10Speaker 1: told you high ankle sprain could be back for the postseason,
- 11:12Speaker 1: went down here, got carded off, got his leg rolled
- 11:15Speaker 1: up on John Lynch watching Why the Niners always getting injured? Well,
- 11:18Speaker 1: they've been able to fight through it with their now
- 11:21Speaker 1: third quarterback and he's dealing. Brandon I you could touch
- 11:25Speaker 1: down here. The Niners are dealing. They win big, they
- 11:29Speaker 1: beat the Bucks five seven. Here's George Kiddle with bridge
- 11:33Speaker 1: of Condon. With a lot of injuries today, it's stinks.
- 11:37Speaker 1: Football's top. It's really hard in your body. Uh, we're
- 11:39Speaker 1: definitely gonna have to shuffle some things around. You know,
- 11:41Speaker 1: we played an early week Thursday night football, so we'll
- 11:45Speaker 1: figure it out. But losing Debo, he's a fantastic football player.
- 11:48Speaker 1: But again we have we have really good roster and
- 11:50Speaker 1: guys are gonna step up. You just walked over here,
- 11:53Speaker 1: kept saying, wow, Wow, what is the emotion. You have
- 11:57Speaker 1: a rookie quarterback, a lot of people don't even know
- 11:59Speaker 1: his name. Two weeks ago he comes in here and
- 12:02Speaker 1: beats Tom Brady. What are the emotions. Um, wow, our
- 12:06Speaker 1: defense is still really good. They're really good. While Brock Purty,
- 12:10Speaker 1: way to handle your business, way to be ready. First
- 12:13Speaker 1: play of the game, just fift yard explosive on his
- 12:15Speaker 1: own head. Thank you so much for that. And while
- 12:17Speaker 1: I met Tom Brady for the first time, a really
- 12:19Speaker 1: nice guy. Wow. Uh, let me some George kittle Bridge
- 12:25Speaker 1: of Condon. They're talking to George kittle Mark Ross with
- 12:28Speaker 1: me as well. In the update on Purty as oblique
- 12:30Speaker 1: injury played through it left the game. Obviously, it was
- 12:33Speaker 1: a blowout in the fourth quarter. Uh. Fingers crossed for
- 12:36Speaker 1: Thursday here on a short week, Bridget, But this is
- 12:39Speaker 1: a big game. The Niners are rolling and and now
- 12:41Speaker 1: they're going up to Seattle behind really good play from
- 12:45Speaker 1: their third quarterback Andrew Kyle. Shanahan just spoke to reporters
- 12:49Speaker 1: and said they hadn't had any new updates from those
- 12:52Speaker 1: m r s that are supposed to happen today, one
- 12:54Speaker 1: of those being Brock Purty and his oblique. So we
- 12:57Speaker 1: will keep you posted once we get information from Shanahan.
- 13:00Speaker 1: But look, this is a team, Andrew. We were here
- 13:02Speaker 1: last week talking about what does this Forts team look
- 13:06Speaker 1: like without Jimmy Garoppolo. Are they still as good as
- 13:09Speaker 1: we thought they were? And they proved that they are
- 13:11Speaker 1: on Sunday with that huge win over the Bucks, keeping
- 13:15Speaker 1: Tom Brady to just seven points. So now they have
- 13:17Speaker 1: won six in a row. They have a chance to
- 13:20Speaker 1: clinch the division in Seattle Thursday night. But of course
- 13:23Speaker 1: another player goes down, a key player, Tebo Divo Samuel
- 13:27Speaker 1: in that second quarter. And I talked with Ray Ray
- 13:29Speaker 1: McLeod in the locker room after about that. He said
- 13:32Speaker 1: something interesting, he said after practice on Friday, Nick Bosa
- 13:35Speaker 1: pulled the teammates together and said, look, when a productive
- 13:38Speaker 1: player goes down, we all around him have to step
- 13:42Speaker 1: up and elevate the game, and nothing's going to change.
- 13:44Speaker 1: Of course, last week he was talking about Jimmy Garoppolo.
- 13:47Speaker 1: Now the same thing with Dievo Samuel and Ray Ray
- 13:50Speaker 1: McLeod is excited to step up into a bigger rold
- 13:54Speaker 1: with Samuel out there. But also Kyle Shanahan was asked,
- 13:57Speaker 1: do you have to continue to remind your players what's
- 14:00Speaker 1: right in front of you with all these injuries, and
- 14:02Speaker 1: he said no, they believe in not just the guys
- 14:04Speaker 1: on the field, but all the death that they have
- 14:07Speaker 1: backing up those players, and he said, if I had
- 14:09Speaker 1: to convince them, then they wouldn't be believing in themselves.
- 14:13Speaker 1: So this team, no matter who is out there, they
- 14:15Speaker 1: believe that they're contenders. Well, Bridget, you can believe in
- 14:20Speaker 1: that defense. And that's the number one thing that's keeping
- 14:23Speaker 1: his forty niners team together, That Demiko Ryan's led defense
- 14:27Speaker 1: where they're not just playing good, they're not playing great,
- 14:30Speaker 1: they're just straight up shutting teams down. And if they
- 14:34Speaker 1: continue to do this, they can go as far as
- 14:38Speaker 1: whoever's on the offensive side of the ball, mix and match.
- 14:40Speaker 1: They still got playmakers. But if this defense just keeps
- 14:42Speaker 1: shutting teams down, then that gives them the room to
- 14:45Speaker 1: operate and they'll keep winning games and no one will
- 14:48Speaker 1: want to play them. Look two super Bowl runs with
- 14:51Speaker 1: the Giants where our defense played unbelievably during the playoffs.
- 14:54Speaker 1: Stretch had flashes during the season, but then stepped it
- 14:57Speaker 1: up during the playoffs. These guys are playing at the
- 14:59Speaker 1: peak form right now and should only keep getting better.
- 15:03Speaker 1: So as long as that d is playing at this level,
- 15:05Speaker 1: Rock Party making plays. Brock pretty made plays in college,
- 15:08Speaker 1: and you just got overlooked for the measurables. But this
- 15:10Speaker 1: guy is a gamer. Hopefully Debo gets back. They've got
- 15:13Speaker 1: enough playmakers are on offense, but this defense is just
- 15:16Speaker 1: shutting people down and they'll go a long way with that.
- 15:18Speaker 1: Andrew and they almost had a shutout yesterday of ball
- 15:20Speaker 1: deflected in the red zone late. The Bucks got a
- 15:22Speaker 1: late touchdown just to put the seven on the board there.
- 15:25Speaker 1: But the Niners defense last six games has given up
- 15:27Speaker 1: seventeen or fewer points. They have not had a run
- 15:30Speaker 1: like that since nineteen nine one, which before brock Pertie
- 15:36Speaker 1: was born. All right, thank you Bridge and thank you Mark.
- 15:40Speaker 1: The Nighters has mentioned can wrap up the division Thursday
- 15:43Speaker 1: night by beating Gino Smith and the Seahawks, who struggled yesterday.
- 15:47Speaker 1: Gino's turned to the ball over a couple of turnovers
- 15:50Speaker 1: early here though it gets him back in the game
- 15:52Speaker 1: twenty to fourteen to the touchdend DK at the half.
- 15:56Speaker 1: But in the fourth quarter it's Sam Donald and Raheem
- 16:00Speaker 1: black Shear putting the Seahawks away, winning it thirty to
- 16:05Speaker 1: twenty four. They ran for two hundred and twenty four
- 16:09Speaker 1: yards as a seed. The Vikings had a chance to
- 16:14Speaker 1: wrap up the NFC North yesterday, the boom box and
- 16:17Speaker 1: everything before the end didn't do it because Jared Goff
- 16:21Speaker 1: was playing sweet music. Look at that Jared Goff to
- 16:26Speaker 1: Jamison Williams first career NFL touched out for the first round,
- 16:31Speaker 1: taking the Lions lead seven to nothing. Lions would eventually
- 16:34Speaker 1: put this game away in the fourth quarter. Here's golf,
- 16:38Speaker 1: Josh Reynolds. That's a touchdown. That's a Lions win, five
- 16:43Speaker 1: at a six. That deserves a speech. I'm talking about
- 16:49Speaker 1: you guys being ready to go. You guys have been
- 16:51Speaker 1: ready to go up for six weeks. That's the way
- 16:53Speaker 1: to come out and set the talk for the broad
- 16:55Speaker 1: yes at night. I guess what. It wasn't quite the
- 16:59Speaker 1: clearest game either, but that's okay, man. We do what
- 17:02Speaker 1: we had to do and we took control that game.
- 17:05Speaker 1: What you guys to enjoy this because we earned that.
- 17:08Speaker 1: We're in all of Martin and you're playing good football,
- 17:10Speaker 1: all right. We gotta keep going. We're into the next
- 17:13Speaker 1: one and then Jets are coming up. We gotta be
- 17:15Speaker 1: ready to go. It's a physical freaking team. We're going
- 17:17Speaker 1: up to their play. Just stay hungry, Just suck you
- 17:19Speaker 1: on man, we're on fire right now. We gotta keep
- 17:21Speaker 1: it all right. He feels different, right, it feels different.
- 17:25Speaker 1: The work and the results speak to that. You keep
- 17:27Speaker 1: doing it. Reload this week, one more at a time,
- 17:29Speaker 1: one more at a time, Stick together, family three. What
- 17:31Speaker 1: do you think? Say you know? That also feels different?
- 17:34Speaker 1: Dan Campbell's energy feels different when this team is actually
- 17:37Speaker 1: winning and not giving games away like they did early
- 17:39Speaker 1: in the year. And now the Lions, who have won
- 17:41Speaker 1: five out of six. Their only loss in those six
- 17:44Speaker 1: was Josh Allen make a couple of plays on Thanksgiving
- 17:47Speaker 1: and Tyler Bass kicking a game winning field goal. Will
- 17:49Speaker 1: you were making turkey? So the Lions here are six
- 17:52Speaker 1: and seven. They're right behind the Seahawks. Don't forget about
- 17:56Speaker 1: the Panthers in this as well, because the Panthers are
- 18:00Speaker 1: in the NFC South. I guess you have to include
- 18:02Speaker 1: the Falcons in it. They get the Bucks week a
- 18:04Speaker 1: team Mark Ross, Steve White back with me. I mean
- 18:08Speaker 1: Lions Jets looks fun this week. Oh that's a fantastic game. Yeah,
- 18:12Speaker 1: that's a fantastic What do you think the bottom of
- 18:14Speaker 1: the NFC here as they fight for that last wild car?
- 18:17Speaker 1: I think it's gonna come down to the final week.
- 18:19Speaker 1: I mean, just because nobody seems to really want to
- 18:21Speaker 1: sink their teeth into this and take a position. The Giants,
- 18:24Speaker 1: they seem to be free falling right now. Detroit they're escalating.
- 18:27Speaker 1: They got a couple of games they have to win.
- 18:28Speaker 1: You talk about that game against the Jets. The Jets
- 18:30Speaker 1: have got to win to stay in contention in the
- 18:32Speaker 1: a f C as well the NFC South. The way
- 18:35Speaker 1: the Bucks are slipping right now, that is wide open.
- 18:38Speaker 1: We'll see if maybe the Falcons a change, the Desmond
- 18:40Speaker 1: Ritter can get that offense going a little bit, see
- 18:43Speaker 1: if they can get back into contention. But Mark, I
- 18:45Speaker 1: just I just it's hard not to keep you know,
- 18:47Speaker 1: Washington and the way that they've played as a team
- 18:49Speaker 1: that that can remain in the playoff hunt. The job
- 18:52Speaker 1: that Ron Rivera in that offense, Taylor Heineke has done
- 18:55Speaker 1: right there, and again the way Detroit is playing right now,
- 18:59Speaker 1: those are the teams when we talk about December football
- 19:01Speaker 1: teams you don't want to play. Those are like two
- 19:03Speaker 1: teams right now you do not want to play at
- 19:06Speaker 1: the back end of this roster. Whereas teams like the
- 19:09Speaker 1: Bucks and the Giants and the Packers. Right now, they
- 19:12Speaker 1: should be more fearful of teams that I just mentioned.
- 19:15Speaker 1: Right you want to be playing your best football now
- 19:17Speaker 1: and also have something to hang your hat on as
- 19:19Speaker 1: a team, what do you do well? And Steve, as
- 19:22Speaker 1: you said, come down to the last week. I think
- 19:24Speaker 1: it will come out of the last week and then
- 19:25Speaker 1: all the tiebreakers scenarios, and I think there will be
- 19:27Speaker 1: some nine win teams and figure it all out who's
- 19:30Speaker 1: got the best division record. Unfortunately, I think it's gonna
- 19:33Speaker 1: come down to that. But Washington Giants this week I
- 19:36Speaker 1: think is essentially a playing game, and I feel good
- 19:38Speaker 1: about where Washington is right now, coming off to buy
- 19:41Speaker 1: They can hang their hat on their defense. The Giants
- 19:43Speaker 1: are struggling mightily. They really don't do anything well right now.
- 19:47Speaker 1: And then when you look at Seattle, their offense has
- 19:50Speaker 1: kind of sputtered here and their defense has not played
- 19:52Speaker 1: well most of the season. So what do they hang
- 19:55Speaker 1: their hat on? But then you go with Detroit. As
- 19:57Speaker 1: you mentioned, these guys can score on anybody. This offense
- 20:00Speaker 1: with a bunch of different playmaker Jared Goffin is playing
- 20:03Speaker 1: at a high level. They can run the ball at
- 20:05Speaker 1: overcoming that D. So I gotta agree with you. I
- 20:07Speaker 1: gotta agree with the Washington holding on there with their D.
- 20:11Speaker 1: And then Detroit what the offense just surgery getting in
- 20:15Speaker 1: for those last two spots, and defense is an issue
- 20:18Speaker 1: for both the Lions and the Seahawks, especially for Seattle
- 20:20Speaker 1: stopping the run, giving up to a game on the
- 20:23Speaker 1: run or I'm sorry, a run a game on the
- 20:27Speaker 1: last three weeks, Mark has basically said it that tie,
- 20:31Speaker 1: that tie. But the Washington the Giants is absolutely gonna factory. Absolutely.
- 20:35Speaker 1: I said it last week. It messes up the map
- 20:38Speaker 1: as we come down the stretch. Alright, So here's the
- 20:45Speaker 1: good news for the Titans. Yesterday they got Derrick Henry going.
- 20:49Speaker 1: He had been shut down the last couple of weeks.
- 20:51Speaker 1: The bad news is Derrick Henry had some trouble hanging
- 20:55Speaker 1: onto the football. Now one of his fumbles, like on
- 20:57Speaker 1: that low snap, I wouldn't call it his ball, but
- 21:00Speaker 1: here he just got blowed up by Shack Pardman and
- 21:03Speaker 1: then Josh Allen got the bumble and then right before
- 21:06Speaker 1: the hat, Trevor Lawrence made him pay. This was initially
- 21:08Speaker 1: cold out of bounds, but Za Jones, upon further review,
- 21:12Speaker 1: got those feet down. We're inside of two minutes here.
- 21:15Speaker 1: That went to New York and that went to a
- 21:16Speaker 1: touchdown and it went to a Jaguars victory. Yeah, and
- 21:22Speaker 1: the Titans have now lost three games in a row.
- 21:25Speaker 1: Trevor Lawrence doing like the wave there, sorry, Dolphins, Chargers,
- 21:30Speaker 1: a couple of playoff teams, a couple of quarterbacks taken
- 21:32Speaker 1: back to back in the NFL draft. Um, look at
- 21:35Speaker 1: Justin Herbert make growth like a Mike Williams only his
- 21:38Speaker 1: second game since Week seven with the toe drag in
- 21:42Speaker 1: the back of the end zone, and Justin Herbert chose
- 21:44Speaker 1: emotion of the Chargers lead ten nil. Dolphins just didn't
- 21:48Speaker 1: run the ball enough. When they did, they had trouble
- 21:51Speaker 1: holding onto the football. But I mean this, this was,
- 21:54Speaker 1: you know, the crazy play of the year, the crazy
- 21:56Speaker 1: play of the year, Steve Whites, thank you. This is
- 21:58Speaker 1: Tyreek Hill picking it up and running it fifty seven
- 22:01Speaker 1: yards for a touchdown. The Dolphins would be in the
- 22:05Speaker 1: game because Tyree Hill picked up a loose football and
- 22:08Speaker 1: that he's the fastest guy on the field. But right
- 22:10Speaker 1: before the half, Austin Neckler punched it in Chargers go
- 22:13Speaker 1: on to win twenty seventeen. Justin Herbert, you're in the
- 22:16Speaker 1: playoffs right now. At least we gotta keep going, you know,
- 22:20Speaker 1: if we want to get to where we want to go. Um,
- 22:22Speaker 1: you know, it starts tomorrow. It starts with watching the film,
- 22:25Speaker 1: fixing our our mistakes, UM, looking at what we did
- 22:27Speaker 1: well and correcting that. And UM, you know, I think
- 22:30Speaker 1: there is a lot of football left to be played. Um,
- 22:32Speaker 1: We're gonna get some guys healthy and get some guys back. Um,
- 22:34Speaker 1: so I just gotta keep rolling. I think this is
- 22:37Speaker 1: just another opportunity for us as a as a team, UM,
- 22:42Speaker 1: you know, to to face this and look at it
- 22:44Speaker 1: head on, um, and and learn from it. There's there's
- 22:47Speaker 1: no other way that uh you can go around it. Um. Well,
- 22:50Speaker 1: we'll look at it straight and YEI and and see
- 22:53Speaker 1: what we can learn from this. And we we gotta
- 22:55Speaker 1: turn to page quick because we know we're playing a
- 22:58Speaker 1: really good team next week as well. Yeah they are.
- 23:01Speaker 1: The Dolphins are going to Buffalo. The Dolphins lose on
- 23:04Speaker 1: their California two games, swing to both the Niners and
- 23:06Speaker 1: the Chargers, and they're sitting there as the sixth seed
- 23:09Speaker 1: right now. L A is in as the seven seed man.
- 23:13Speaker 1: It is a battle in the a f C South.
- 23:16Speaker 1: It is a battle in the seven spot as well.
- 23:20Speaker 1: I say a battle in the South, I means still
- 23:22Speaker 1: a two game lead for the Titans, but you know,
- 23:23Speaker 1: here comes the Jaguars. What do you think of the
- 23:25Speaker 1: seven spot there? Mark Ross, you know what I'm looking
- 23:29Speaker 1: at That that's really essentially that last spot there in
- 23:32Speaker 1: the a f C. I think the Dolphins will wrap
- 23:34Speaker 1: that up. They've got a couple of home games. They
- 23:36Speaker 1: got a brutal away games at the worst weathers you
- 23:39Speaker 1: can get to. But they've got home games. They'll they'll
- 23:41Speaker 1: win those. And really that last spot between the Chargers
- 23:44Speaker 1: the Jets, UH and New England and New England schedule
- 23:48Speaker 1: the rest of the stretch. They may just win one
- 23:50Speaker 1: game out here, that win tonight, but the rest of
- 23:52Speaker 1: their stretch is tough. Uh. With with the Chargers, I'm
- 23:56Speaker 1: gonna hang my hat on Justin Herbert and his brilliance
- 23:59Speaker 1: to pull out games down the stretch. The way the
- 24:02Speaker 1: defense stepped up last night, that gives him side linds
- 24:05Speaker 1: of hope and at least you get your playmakers back
- 24:08Speaker 1: on defense to fortify that there. Uh, the Jets their
- 24:11Speaker 1: quarterback situation week to week there, don't really trust any
- 24:14Speaker 1: of those guys when they're in there. We know that
- 24:16Speaker 1: Dan is playing at the high level. So when I'm
- 24:18Speaker 1: looking at the big picture, I'm going to trust Justin
- 24:20Speaker 1: Herbert and brilliance down the stretch, the defense stepping up
- 24:24Speaker 1: with the playmakers coming back. Steve, Yeah, Mark you and
- 24:26Speaker 1: look at the schedule. I mean the charges remaining opponents
- 24:28Speaker 1: are eighteen thirty three and one. I mean, the Titans
- 24:31Speaker 1: are the only team with a winning record that's left
- 24:33Speaker 1: and they're sliding. So, I mean it looks like on
- 24:36Speaker 1: paper they should get there. But what do the Chargers
- 24:40Speaker 1: do They charger. Now, we've got to we have got
- 24:44Speaker 1: to get away from that bias. But they have got
- 24:46Speaker 1: some proving to do to make us do that. Because
- 24:49Speaker 1: the one thing about the Jets, even though they've got
- 24:51Speaker 1: a tougher schedule, we know what they are. I mean,
- 24:53Speaker 1: that's the dude. They may not win the fight, but
- 24:56Speaker 1: you're gonna know that you have been in a fight
- 24:57Speaker 1: because you're gonna have a black eye and a bloody lip.
- 25:00Speaker 1: You don't know if you're gonna get that consistently out
- 25:02Speaker 1: of the Chargers. But if justin Herbert and that offense,
- 25:05Speaker 1: having Mike Williams and keenandall and healthy, getting Joey Bosa
- 25:08Speaker 1: and Derwin Derwin James back soon again, everything lines up
- 25:13Speaker 1: for the Chargers to get one of those final playoff spots.
- 25:17Speaker 1: But that has happened for decades and they have found
- 25:20Speaker 1: ways to stop on the banana peal. I'm just saying
- 25:23Speaker 1: they should get there. But man, they've let us down before.
- 25:29Speaker 1: Answer to them for shutting down the Dolphins run game
- 25:32Speaker 1: like surprise Miami didn't you know, didn't run more of
- 25:35Speaker 1: a commitment. Yes, now they got Derrick Henry come into town.
- 25:39Speaker 1: Big playoff implications in that game. Do it now? Run
- 25:42Speaker 1: defense against Derrick Henry. One more game left for a
- 25:47Speaker 1: week four team. Look at Kurt Warner's name up there
- 25:50Speaker 1: in the Ring of honor. State Farm Stadium, Glendale, Arizona,
- 25:52Speaker 1: the home of Super Bowl fifty seven in a couple
- 25:55Speaker 1: of months. Where tonight it's the Cardinals, it's the Patriots.
- 25:58Speaker 1: We are live now in Glendale on NFL Now with
- 26:01Speaker 1: our Taylor bashot A talking about this new England offense.
- 26:04Speaker 1: When last we saw them. Taylor on Thursday night, they
- 26:06Speaker 1: were scorn only ten points against the Bills the last
- 26:08Speaker 1: three weeks really not so much. How are the Cardinals
- 26:13Speaker 1: preparing for that Patriots offense? Cardinals defensive coordinator Advanced Joseph
- 26:18Speaker 1: didn't sugarcoat what he sees on film from this Patriots offense.
- 26:21Speaker 1: He said, it's an offense that looks like it's being
- 26:23Speaker 1: run by a defensive coordinator. He described it as very conservative,
- 26:27Speaker 1: lots of screens, not a lot of deep passes. Head
- 26:31Speaker 1: coach Bill Belichick said last week it's too late in
- 26:33Speaker 1: the season for them to be making any drastic offensive changes.
- 26:37Speaker 1: They need to focus on execution. It's gonna be interesting
- 26:40Speaker 1: to see what this offense looks like tonight after their
- 26:43Speaker 1: mini by I spoke to Patriots center David Andrews, and
- 26:46Speaker 1: he said December football is like the final three laps
- 26:49Speaker 1: in a NASCAR race. It's where teams break off neither
- 26:52Speaker 1: get better, finishing stronger, or it's where they separate themselves
- 26:56Speaker 1: for the worst. He said, they've got the players, they've
- 26:58Speaker 1: got the talent. What they need to do is wait
- 27:01Speaker 1: for it quote, just do their jobs. I think we've
- 27:04Speaker 1: heard that before from Bill Belichick. We have do your job,
- 27:07Speaker 1: and I have to do it, especially today because there's
- 27:10Speaker 1: a lot on the line really for both teams, but
- 27:12Speaker 1: especially here the Patriots in their playoff push. Yeah. Well,
- 27:16Speaker 1: yesterday's games really opened the door for the Patriots. With
- 27:20Speaker 1: a win tonight, they are back in that wild card
- 27:22Speaker 1: playoff spot. They need this win. They dropped the last
- 27:26Speaker 1: two games. They're in a tight wild card race, and
- 27:29Speaker 1: their schedule ahead of them is going to be very,
- 27:31Speaker 1: very tough. This Patriots offense has been criticized as of late,
- 27:35Speaker 1: but a player that's been praised is running back Ramondre Stevenson,
- 27:39Speaker 1: who leaves the Patriots offense as a running back with
- 27:42Speaker 1: fifty six receptions this season. Head coach Cliff Kingsbury called
- 27:45Speaker 1: him a tremendous player. Bill Belichick called his progression from
- 27:49Speaker 1: year one to year two similar to that of Tom
- 27:53Speaker 1: Brady and Lawrence Taylor. Arguably the best offensive and defensive
- 27:57Speaker 1: player of all time. I spoke to Cardinals linebacker Isaiah
- 28:00Speaker 1: Simmons and he told me that they've been focusing on
- 28:02Speaker 1: the Patriots screen game this past week. They're trying to
- 28:05Speaker 1: find ways to potentially neutralize Stevenson. But with Jacobe Myers
- 28:09Speaker 1: Al and Damien Harris doubtful. You can expect to see
- 28:12Speaker 1: a lot of the second year running back tonight, a
- 28:15Speaker 1: lot on his shoulders, a lot on the Patriot shoulders.
- 28:17Speaker 1: They win tonight, they're back in that seven seed in
- 28:20Speaker 1: the a f C. For now, Taylor Brashatti, thank you.
- 28:23Speaker 1: Live there at a Monday night football to wrap up
- 28:26Speaker 1: Week fourteen, the Patriots and the Cardinals eight fifteen Eastern Time.
