- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn German with Fexingo. I'm Lucas, and with me is the ever-curious Luna. Luna: Hey everyone! I'm ready to learn some new German words today. What are we diving into? Lucas: So, we've covered furniture like tables and chairs, and we even did the kitchen with the fridge and stove. But today, let's focus on kitchen appliances — things that help us cook and prepare food. Luna: Oh, like a microwave or a toaster? Lucas: Exactly! Let's start with the fridge. You already know 'der Kühlschrank'. Say it with me: der Kühlschrank. Luna: Der Kühlschrank. Lucas: Good. And the stove or oven: der Herd. Der Herd. Luna: Der Herd. That sounds like 'herd' in English, but it's the stove. Lucas: Right. Now, a very common one: die Mikrowelle. Die Mikrowelle. Luna: Die Mikrowelle. Ah, that's the microwave. Easy because it's similar to English. Lucas: Yes. Next, der Toaster. Der Toaster. Luna: Der Toaster. Also similar. I love toast. Lucas: And finally, die Kaffeemaschine. The coffee machine. Die Kaffeemaschine. Luna: Die Kaffeemaschine. That's a long word! Let me try: die Kaffeemaschine. Lucas: Perfect. Now let's put them in a little scene. Imagine you're in the kitchen in the morning. You walk to the fridge to get milk. Luna: Okay, so I open der Kühlschrank. Lucas: Then you take bread and put it in der Toaster. Luna: Der Toaster makes my toast. Then I want coffee, so I use die Kaffeemaschine. Lucas: And if you want to heat something up, you use die Mikrowelle. Or you can cook on der Herd. Luna: That's a full morning routine! Let me practice all five: der Kühlschrank, der Herd, die Mikrowelle, der Toaster, die Kaffeemaschine. Lucas: You've got it. And remember, these are all nouns, so they have genders. 'Der' for masculine, 'die' for feminine. Mikrowelle and Kaffeemaschine are feminine. Luna: So it's die Mikrowelle and die Kaffeemaschine. And the others are der. Got it. Lucas: Exactly.
