Transcript
- 0:00That's my that's actually my favorite.
- 0:01Charlie can believe I have a Charlie XCX cut.
- 0:03Can you believe that? I was dropped in 2022 and that
- 0:05was like the best thing that ever happened.
- 0:07So when you did Pinky Up, you didn't know it was going.
- 0:09To no. So basically no, no, we didn't
- 0:11know. We wrote it in 2024.
- 0:12Oh shit, you just wrote it. Yeah, we just wrote it.
- 0:14That's. So exciting.
- 0:15That's their highest charting single.
- 0:32Hello Delulu's and welcome back to another episode a Delulu and
- 0:35a very special welcome to our supernova pop star guest
- 0:39Serrana. She is pioneering her own lane
- 0:42in pop music with her unique style and sound.
- 0:45And y'all, you can already see it.
- 0:47Her hair literally glows. It glows in the dark, it glows
- 0:51in the light, and it is glowing. And beyond being an incredible,
- 0:56unique artist, she's also an incredibly successful
- 0:58songwriter, writing songs for Charlie XCX, Jenny, The
- 1:01Chainsmokers, Jason Derülo, Cat's Eye, The list literally
- 1:05goes on. Welcome to Tallulah, I'm so
- 1:08happy to have you. Thanks for having me, Ryan.
- 1:10I'm so excited to be here. I'm.
- 1:11So excited to chat with you. We literally just key keyed for
- 1:13like an hour before this. I know it was the best.
- 1:16And I was like fuck, we need to be saving this for the show.
- 1:19I guess we talked everything already.
- 1:21I was listening to skin care and these corporate bitches are
- 1:23trying to kill me. That's the thing about that one
- 1:26too. 1 mouthful of a title but then two it's just like, no,
- 1:29they really are. Like no.
- 1:30They're really trying to kill y'all.
- 1:33They really are. I was telling Charlie before the
- 1:36show started and I was like no I completely agree with you.
- 1:38I don't think verse 2 needs to be the same as verse one.
- 1:41And I. Think that's so meta that you
- 1:43said that in verse 2, you started verse 2.
- 1:46Oh my God, I have a song called I can't.
- 1:48And in it I said I don't care that I don't have every little
- 1:50perfect syllable rhyming. Like it's just like, because I
- 1:52was like doing so many sessions and I was working with so many
- 1:55different people and they were like giving me so many rules and
- 1:57I was like, Oh my God, I just want to write exactly.
- 2:02Fuck the rules. Who?
- 2:04Says second verse needs to be the same as the first and I.
- 2:06Like, and I deviated. That's clever.
- 2:09I just think all your music in general is super clever.
- 2:10But we can get back to Skin Care.
- 2:12So Skin Care is your current single and this is the second
- 2:14song. These corporate fish Days are
- 2:16Trying to Kill me. That's also on the album.
- 2:17Yes, it's the first record I dropped and it kind of like
- 2:21marks like my full separation from, with my artist project
- 2:26from, you know, the corporate label system, 'cause you know, I
- 2:32I became independent and then I kind of had all these songs that
- 2:36I didn't get to release when I was signed.
- 2:39I was coming up with like my light up hair and my changing my
- 2:42direction. Can you?
- 2:43Release them now at all. Can you release those songs at
- 2:45all? Well, I did on technosexual.
- 2:48And. Technosexual.
- 2:49Even more sexual. They were like kind of, I was
- 2:51like doing new stuff and I was releasing.
- 2:55I, I put together songs I did during like my label time and I
- 2:59was kind of, I wanted to drop everything to just see how I
- 3:03feel about them 'cause, you know, I feel like if a song is
- 3:05in your computer, you don't really know if you love it or
- 3:07not. Oh, interesting.
- 3:08I only love. I only know if I love a song
- 3:10when I drop it. And what if you drop it and you
- 3:12end up being like oh I hate this.
- 3:13I it happened. And then what happens then you
- 3:15just live. With it I just like ignore it.
- 3:17Really it's. Not there.
- 3:19You're like, I guess I'm like, no.
- 3:20No, no, no, no one. Listen to that one.
- 3:22Interesting. That's crazy.
- 3:24OK, wait, that's super interesting.
- 3:26How? About you, do you think?
- 3:27Like, yeah, do you know, like which songs of yours you love
- 3:30before you drop them? So unclear to me.
- 3:33I don't know, like I do, I feel like I know and I feel like I
- 3:35love them and like I won't cut a song unless I know I love it or
- 3:39it's going to make my album. Like I'll make demos and I'll be
- 3:41like, I, I pretty much know from the first session if I'm going
- 3:43to go with it or not, you know what I mean?
- 3:45And then like, I haven't put anything out yet, but like all
- 3:47the songs I have right now, I'm like, I know, I love and I'm
- 3:49excited to put them out. So like, yeah, that's that's
- 3:51why. That's interesting.
- 3:52I've never heard anyone say that.
- 3:53Before, I guess that was like during the time because
- 3:55basically everything is delayed in a big in a major label
- 3:59system. If you're not, if you're not
- 4:01like, I don't know, like Gaga or like a big artist, you know,
- 4:04then like things are fast tracked.
- 4:06But if you're like a new artist, there's a lot of delays.
- 4:09So basically the song that I got that got me signed was called
- 4:13Karaoke and I wrote it in 2018. I ended up releasing it in 2022.
- 4:17So there was like. Did you still love it like 4?
- 4:19Years later, no, I hated it. I really did.
- 4:22I was like, I don't like want to go on TikTok and post with this
- 4:24song because totally I'm not in that headspace anymore.
- 4:27Yeah, it was years ago. Where I oh.
- 4:29My God. Yeah, where?
- 4:30I love that song. Yeah.
- 4:32I don't like. Yeah, I don't.
- 4:35I'm not. I mean.
- 4:36You don't relate to it anymore and like it was so long ago too.
- 4:38Wait, so they wanted you to put that one out?
- 4:41Yes. So that was the song that I that
- 4:44got me signed. And at the time I was like
- 4:46writing all these like big pop songs.
- 4:48I kind of, it wasn't intentionally ballady, but it
- 4:51became ballady because I didn't love any of the productions
- 4:54really. So I was like, always doing
- 4:56piano demos, yeah. So it ended up being 'cause you
- 4:59know when you write on piano, like the songs are very
- 5:01different than if you write on honestly on a beat a. 100%
- 5:04Bonnie McKee said that she said if you start on a piano she
- 5:06tries to avoid that because she said it ends up becoming
- 5:09ballady. I agree.
- 5:10Yeah, I agree totally. Or if you pick up a guitar like
- 5:13you, the song will be way different.
- 5:15Like yeah, it can feel. More acoustic.
- 5:16Exactly. I think like starting 'cause I
- 5:18really like analog when it comes to like music and making music.
- 5:22Like I like artificial sounds. I like when things feel like
- 5:25very electronic. It's very like manufactured.
- 5:27And I feel like if it starts like that, then it's easy for me
- 5:29to stay in that headspace to write to it versus like, if it
- 5:32starts more acoustic, then it's like, and I'm like, OK, this is
- 5:34an acoustic song, you know? Yeah, exactly.
- 5:36Yeah. So wait, you're I?
- 5:38Forgot where we started, I was. Talking about skin care, but
- 5:40we're getting so into it, I. Feel like we can like talk for
- 5:43hours. I I want to.
- 5:45We'll never finish. I want to wait.
- 5:47How was your experience at Atlantic then?
- 5:48How long were you signed there for?
- 5:50I was signed there for. So basically, yeah, my, the NR
- 5:55designed me. I love him a lot.
- 5:56He's like, his name is Mike Karen.
- 5:58I don't know if you know about him.
- 5:59He's like still my publisher. He signed me and brought me to
- 6:03LA from London. And he was basically like the
- 6:08first person that gave me like a real chance here.
- 6:11And I signed him in 2019. And then at the end of 2020, I
- 6:17was like in development. I was like writing the songs
- 6:19during that time, whatever. And then I moved to Atlantic.
- 6:23All his artists, like Ava Max, like Charlie Puth, everyone
- 6:26moved to Atlantic. Yeah, Yeah.
- 6:28And basically my team changed and I haven't had any, like,
- 6:32songs released at the time. So that was kind of tough to
- 6:35adjust because I signed someone and then I was thrown in a huge
- 6:40label like. That's a major, yeah, for sure.
- 6:45I was, when I moved here, I kind of started having these ideas of
- 6:49like having light up hair. I was like always going through
- 6:52all these like hairstyles. I, I never picked 1 and and then
- 6:56I thought about this and I was like, okay, like I have these
- 6:59ballot songs. But now I'm thinking like I
- 7:01wanna make be electronic and like I've always felt like I'm a
- 7:04robot and I don't know why I've always felt like I'm a robot.
- 7:07Oh my God. Because I'm like I'm invincible.
- 7:09I can do anything. I love that, yeah.
- 7:11Like, I'm iron, yeah. I never get sick.
- 7:14I always like kind of manifest like, yeah, these things like
- 7:17like being powerful, yes. And.
- 7:20I mean, your entire look is power.
- 7:22I know it's like I'm trying to manifest living forever.
- 7:25Oh, you're gonna live forever. Yeah.
- 7:27I feel like I honestly always say this.
- 7:29I say this about myself, but I, I also think in general, like, I
- 7:31think artists are going to live forever because like the music
- 7:34we make are going to live beyond us.
- 7:35You know the words we write, the things that we do true.
- 7:38Yeah, but I do think there's a chance.
- 7:40Spill. That we can actually live a lot.
- 7:44Do you want to live a lot? I really do.
- 7:46Interesting. Because you know, you can always
- 7:48unplug yourself. You don't want to be here
- 7:50anymore. I guess, you know, like you're
- 7:52not forced, but I guess you'll be so nice to be to be able to
- 7:55experience like, I don't know, like even now, how exciting is
- 7:59the future, right? AI is coming.
- 8:01Like, yeah, it's probably going to figure out a lot of things
- 8:04that we don't know yet, like. Yeah, and you want to be around
- 8:07to explore that? Yeah, maybe we'll go to other
- 8:09planets. Like maybe I want to have
- 8:11another job, you know? Maybe I want to like, yeah, be a
- 8:14fashion designer. Maybe I want to be an architect?
- 8:16I mean, to be honest, you could do it all.
- 8:18I know like yeah, but see if we have like 400 years to live then
- 8:23could be like you. Like the idea of having time to
- 8:25be able to like explore everything, OK.
- 8:27I like that concept because like, I feel like for me, like
- 8:30life is so exhausting. I love life.
- 8:33I love doing this, but like, it's so tiring.
- 8:35Like I can't imagine doing it forever.
- 8:37I mean, I hope I do it forever. See, like, yeah, I feel like you
- 8:40always like find energy like if you want to, I guess that's.
- 8:45True. I guess I'm from Eastern Europe
- 8:48and I guess in it's very different than here.
- 8:52Like life is hard. You know, like my country used
- 8:56to be communist and like, you know, like my parents and my
- 8:59grandparents are like, more yeah.
- 9:02Oh, life is hard. You need to like it.
- 9:05It's not a mentality of like positive, you know, work hard
- 9:11and not get anything out of it. It's kind of that mentality.
- 9:13And I just like, don't like that.
- 9:15Yeah, I don't like that either. And I guess I always want to
- 9:19change that about, you know, my, you know, because like you're
- 9:23born in, if you're born in that kind of headspace, then you kind
- 9:26of like take it wherever you go. And I was like.
- 9:29I need to change. My reality, and I'm talking
- 9:32about this in one of my songs that's on my album about like,
- 9:36you know, like you can like reality is a construct and you
- 9:40can like literally like change, tweak it until it's great.
- 9:42You know you can tweak your life until it's great.
- 9:44Yes, absolutely. You're like super into
- 9:46manifestation. Yes, yes, I could tell.
- 9:48I've always been since I was little, since before I knew.
- 9:52Yeah. Did you know you always wanted
- 9:53to be a pop star? Yes, always.
- 9:55I was like 3 and I was like praying on my red chair to God.
- 9:58I was like why am I in Romania? I was like please take me to
- 10:01America and I was telling my mom I want to be in America, which.
- 10:03Is like God through. God, yeah.
- 10:06I don't know, I feel. Like she brought you here?
- 10:08I feel like God is real. Yeah, for sure.
- 10:11OK, Clock. I've always been praying but I
- 10:13don't know what that means. I feel like it's kind of a form
- 10:15of manifestation for me. Me too.
- 10:18Yeah, and I do it before I go to bed and I say, like the prayer
- 10:21that I learned as a child every fucking night.
- 10:24Really. And it's more like kind of
- 10:26locking into what I want, what I want to change.
- 10:29What it was. That's how I pray too.
- 10:31Yeah. We're actually like super
- 10:32similar. I love.
- 10:33Oh my God, look at us like glowing pop stars.
- 10:36Yes, with great nails. Oh my God, wait a moment for the
- 10:39nails. I have pop store nails on right
- 10:40now. We'll all find out eventually.
- 10:42The best. I love yours.
- 10:44Yeah, thanks. Can you explain them?
- 10:46So we have claws on this one. Claws on this one to slay the
- 10:50enemies. The enemies I got a list.
- 10:52And then this one's, you know, my working hand or my gay hand.
- 10:57There you go. I was like, I was like, I'm
- 10:59going to promise you what what specifically is about this hand?
- 11:03The way about this one. Yeah, the gay hand.
- 11:05No, it's just the working hand. The working hand, the working
- 11:08hand, OK, I love all that we do need to talk about the hair so
- 11:13obviously it's glowing. This is so unique and she's.
- 11:16Glowing. She's everything.
- 11:18And she hurts. She's heavy.
- 11:20Oh my God, you're committing. 24 lbs.
- 11:23Do you perform with the hair? So I perform.
- 11:26I perform with this one like maybe like two times and all I
- 11:31can do is like whip my hair like this.
- 11:33I know you were trying to pinky up earlier and you're like, I
- 11:35can't do. I kind of pinky up a bit.
- 11:38You pinky up a bit. There you go.
- 11:40I just have to move with my whole body.
- 11:42I can't just move my head, so my movements are limited.
- 11:45I perform it with it twice. Yeah, it kind of gets heavy so
- 11:50my hair hurts and I need to pop advils every time I wear this
- 11:53hair. You're committed to it, though.
- 11:56I like that. That's good.
- 11:57So you knew because I remember I heard you say this before.
- 12:00You said like when you were a child, you knew you had to have
- 12:03a distinctive look and the branding and image.
- 12:05You're aware of that, even like as a little girl.
- 12:08Yes, like, you know, like how it's like hair theory, like all
- 12:11pop stars have like unique hair and a lot.
- 12:13I. Was thinking about this when I
- 12:14was little. I was like, I need to figure out
- 12:16what my hair is That's so crazy. And I made my oh like a wig when
- 12:20I was like 7 from yarn. Yeah.
- 12:23From orange yarn. And I was like, like.
- 12:26Their original hair. Yeah.
- 12:29Yeah. And then now you know, like
- 12:31going into when you when you got signed to the label, you were
- 12:33developing the hair idea because you said you knew you wanted
- 12:35like glowing hair. Yeah.
- 12:37So basically I just thought about, you know, having like
- 12:41light up hair because why not? Yeah, totally fucking.
- 12:44And then you're. A pop *.
- 12:45Yeah, exactly. You, you got to glow, you know,
- 12:47you got to glow. You're a star.
- 12:48You got to shine. You got to shine.
- 12:50Speak on it. Basically when I thought about
- 12:53this I was like how the fuck am I going to make light up hair?
- 12:57Like do you get a hair stylist or do you get a a person who
- 12:59knows or like a. Technician.
- 13:01Or something. How do you make it?
- 13:02It's both. So the first one that I made was
- 13:05I designed it, I drew it in my note notebook and we found this
- 13:08like guy. It's made out of EO wire, which
- 13:10is like, you know, like the kind of like material that you put in
- 13:15the car, you know, when you want to light up the doors or
- 13:18something. That's like El wire.
- 13:20So it's like 6 tails that have like a little 3D printed cap at
- 13:29the end with like a little hoop. So I have six of those three on
- 13:34each side. So I kind of make my hair in the
- 13:37space buns and then I literally tie it with elastic around my
- 13:42hair. And then the third one, I roll
- 13:44it around and it's giving like Sailor Moon.
- 13:47Totally. Hair like with the long tails
- 13:49and you know, the wrapped around like that becomes like a bun.
- 13:53Yeah, yeah. So that's the first one I made
- 13:56in 2020 and then in 20/21 I made this one I found like the best
- 14:01prop maker in the world. So you've had this one for
- 14:04years? Yes.
- 14:06Oh my gosh, you took care of her.
- 14:07I know, yeah, I really do. Because she was expensive.
- 14:12You know, I know that's crazy. You're literally, I'm not going
- 14:15to say how much it was, but you're wearing my album budget
- 14:16on your head right now. Yeah, it's pretty like pretty
- 14:19expensive, more like like I want one, make me one.
- 14:23I was like, I don't know if you're going to afford it.
- 14:25I. Can't afford it.
- 14:26I cannot afford it, girl. I was.
- 14:28Like, not you. I mean, generally people, of
- 14:30course you can't afford it. Oh, period.
- 14:32Give me your album budget and then I'll make you one.
- 14:35Well, I want to make the album, girl.
- 14:37But you know what? We'll we'll dig into the budget
- 14:39for it. Yeah.
- 14:40So you have more wigs coming up, though.
- 14:41You're talking about that with me too.
- 14:42You're designing more. Yes, I'm making a new one now.
- 14:46That's from a new material. Yeah, that's like.
- 14:48Same same person who made this one, yes.
- 14:50Sick. So Tom, he's like a prop maker.
- 14:53He makes props for like he made Lady Gaga's spark boobs.
- 14:56You know, like the yes, that was like she.
- 14:59Did on tour, right? Yeah.
- 15:00Yeah, like on her first project, you know.
- 15:04With yellow hair, I think yes, yes he does.
- 15:06So basically he, and then he does like props for all the
- 15:09artists basically, and like for Disney and everything.
- 15:12Wow. He's like my bestie.
- 15:14He's like, yeah, I, I love going to his workshop and we work on
- 15:19on the wigs. It took six months to make this
- 15:21one. No way.
- 15:23Yeah, because it was so crazy. How do you make a optic fiber
- 15:25wig that looks kind of normal even though it's not bulky?
- 15:29Before you turn it on, I wouldn't have it.
- 15:31I would have thought it was just like hair, like a wig.
- 15:33You. Know yeah, I know because I want
- 15:35it to be super realistic because that's what like it's kind of
- 15:37magic if it's realistic. 100% it is magic.
- 15:40It is super realistic. You know, before we got on the
- 15:42show, Charlie was like, also her hair glows.
- 15:44We need to do something with lighting for that.
- 15:46And I had no idea what he was talking about.
- 15:49I was like, is it like white and fluorescent or something?
- 15:52And then you got here and you're like, Oh no, it.
- 15:54It. Glows yes it lights.
- 15:57Oh Oh my God, it's very magical super pop star.
- 16:01So you already knew you want to have a defined image and then as
- 16:04your science of label and they were developing you as an
- 16:06artist. Was this a part of like the
- 16:07discussions and you came in knowing you wanted this hair?
- 16:10So I kind of figured it out after I was signed for a while.
- 16:13I was like, OK, what's my look? What's my did?
- 16:16They talk to you about that or did you come in like I need to
- 16:18have a look, I need to? No, I, I I want it.
- 16:22So I was like, OK, I need to find someone to make it.
- 16:24They actually found the first person who made my light up hair
- 16:27before I met Tom and yeah, I did that and I was like, OK, now I
- 16:32can't release balance, can I? With this hair, it's giving like
- 16:35robot La La interesting and I didn't felt and it was like hard
- 16:40to convince them. They were like I thought about
- 16:42the concept around the same time technosexual.
- 16:44I was like, I want to write a song called Technosexual and
- 16:47it's going to be like, like more electronic.
- 16:50Totally. I mean half the song they were
- 16:52like, no. What?
- 16:53Why? They just didn't get it.
- 16:55They were like, kind of like, they like.
- 16:57What did they want from you? They wanted me to release the
- 16:59stuff that they wanted me to release the stuff that we.
- 17:03It was pretty tough. Obviously I was just kind of
- 17:05like coming up with my vision as I was signed so it.
- 17:09Sucks to be stifled like that. I know it was like pretty tough
- 17:12to develop while I was signed because, you know, people were,
- 17:15there was like a lot of chefs in the room and everyone wanted me
- 17:18to do different things and I didn't feel like I had space for
- 17:21my creativity, right? Therefore, these corporate
- 17:24bitches are trying to kill me. These corporate bitches are
- 17:25trying to kill you. It's about being in a like, you
- 17:29know, a big kind of machine and not being able to have your
- 17:34individuality and be unique and be who you want or, or find who
- 17:38you are, you know. Yeah.
- 17:39And it's hard because. Your shoes don't fit.
- 17:40Especially because like, as an artist and someone making music
- 17:43and beginning to put on music, it's like you want to do what's
- 17:45true to you and what you're excited and passionate about.
- 17:47But when you have people that you're working with being like,
- 17:49maybe not, or this isn't good enough, try again.
- 17:51That's so disheartening. Yeah, because even if a song is
- 17:54not good enough, right? I love, you know, like
- 17:59optimistic feedback, like, OK, like I I want like, I want
- 18:03feedback because then maybe next time I'll write a better one.
- 18:05But if you tell me this is shit, you kind of like demotivate me.
- 18:09Totally. Because then it's like, well,
- 18:10then I can't do good, yeah. So I I was dropped in 2022 and
- 18:13that was like the best thing that ever happened.
- 18:15Did you see the drop coming? Yes.
- 18:17Oh, and you wanted it. I kind of felt like, well, you
- 18:21never want it, you know, totally.
- 18:22But I felt like when I got, when I found out, I was like crying
- 18:25in the bushes. What?
- 18:26I'm sorry, but it's the best thing I'm.
- 18:29Pretty dramatic I'm. So dramatic.
- 18:31Like I got it. Pulling up to this producer's
- 18:33house, we're supposed to like, produce my song.
- 18:38I get the call and I'm like screaming on the pavement, on
- 18:43the floor. Get out of the car.
- 18:46I like, cry. Like I can't cry 'cause I'm
- 18:48going to this producer and needs to produce my song.
- 18:50Like I can't like tell him I I just got dropped 'cause then
- 18:53I'll demotivate him. Oh.
- 18:54My God, right then he's. So I was like pretending
- 18:56everything was fine and I was like.
- 18:58Oh my God, we did the song. Yes, 'cause we were just
- 19:01producing the song totes at the time and.
- 19:04Yeah. I didn't want to say anything.
- 19:07Oh my God, so. Then I went home and.
- 19:08I liked the drama of that story. Screaming and crying.
- 19:10I was like, I had, you know, like I wanted to burst out in
- 19:14tears and I've. Been there I.
- 19:16Held it back the whole day. Girl, I've had shows where I
- 19:19felt like that. I've had sessions.
- 19:21Shows is crazy. Yeah, it's where I'm like, I
- 19:23have to perform now, but I'm like, you know, have you seen
- 19:26that Katy Perry clip from her movie where she got her
- 19:29ex-husband Russell Brand or whatever texted her he wanted a
- 19:32divorce right before she got on stage?
- 19:34No. That shit really like motivates
- 19:36me because I'm like, I'm not Katy Perry though, so I'm.
- 19:38Like and. She still performed.
- 19:40And I feel like, you know, something like that can make you
- 19:42feel super present in the moment, like you're not in your
- 19:45head. Like I feel like if that
- 19:47whatever happens in real time is like I'll come usually comes to
- 19:50sessions with my concept idea, most of the song written.
- 19:52But if something happens in real time, I'll be like, I had this
- 19:55idea, but we're scrapping. We're going to write what just
- 19:57happened right now and we just need to capture this moment,
- 19:59just says. It just happened.
- 20:01It's cool. Yeah.
- 20:02And like, I think that's also a gift in art, just being what
- 20:04like mold into like your current situation, but you don't want to
- 20:07like work on a song about being dropped in that moment you
- 20:09wanted to work on the other whatever.
- 20:10You're working on finish. I wanted because we already
- 20:13wrote the song and I wanted it to be reproduced.
- 20:16It was. At that time, I didn't finish
- 20:19the songs in one sitting. Now we're doing, we're doing
- 20:22like it's like 4 hours or five and it's done.
- 20:26All vocal layers, everything perfect.
- 20:29Static, double S, all of it. And it takes like all my energy
- 20:32totally. And focus like I need to like go
- 20:34hyper focus, yeah, you know, to be able to get that.
- 20:37Yeah, I'm locked. The fuck?
- 20:38In yeah. So I don't do it all the time.
- 20:40I only do it when I have the concept.
- 20:41I know what I'm doing. Yeah.
- 20:44And then I need time off in between the songs that I write
- 20:48for me just so I can like, you know, recharge that energy.
- 20:51That's like supernova energy. 100% you're giving your all, but
- 20:55that's really good and intentional 'cause I know a lot
- 20:57of people who like just go in and like fuck it, let's just see
- 20:59what's up. Like I write with other artists
- 21:00who are just like, eh, let's see.
- 21:01And like, I don't like wasting people's time.
- 21:02I don't like wasting my time. I don't like wasting the artists
- 21:05time. I don't like wasting the
- 21:05producers time. So like when I go in for my
- 21:08music, it's like I'm only taking this session if I know exactly
- 21:11what I want. Other than that, I'm like, I'm
- 21:12not going to sit there and be like, eh, let's just see what's
- 21:14up. No, I love that.
- 21:14That's great. I waste everyone's time, it's
- 21:16not worth it. Going to be mindful in the
- 21:18mirror 100. Percent.
- 21:20I don't feel like everyone's like that.
- 21:21So you know what, girl, we really are twinsies.
- 21:23Everything you're saying like I'm like, yes, we are.
- 21:25I get all that. We got to ride together.
- 21:27Oh. My God, yes we should.
- 21:29Yes, I'm going to play pop stars.
- 21:30You're going to. Love it.
- 21:31I love. I would love that.
- 21:32OK, wait. And I'm going to play with some
- 21:34unreleased. OK, yes, I'm super.
- 21:36Exciting music too. Yay.
- 21:37OK, so you know on these corporate bitches are trying to
- 21:39kill me. So, you know, when you're saying
- 21:41like my music, I know you're not even listening to it.
- 21:43So fucking real. Yes, so fucking real.
- 21:45Like, yeah, bro, what even is what's happening?
- 21:48It's so frustrating. It is.
- 21:49It's so frustrating. They are trying to kill us.
- 21:51Yeah. It's like, really like.
- 21:54I don't know, I feel like it's really tough to be an artist.
- 21:56Like, you need to like, really be resilient.
- 21:59Yeah. To survive.
- 22:00Like some, some people have it easier for some reason.
- 22:02Like, I don't know, they sign and then the first song that
- 22:06they release, like, blows up. But most cases, it's not like
- 22:09that. Most cases, like 10 years of
- 22:11hard fucking work. Yeah.
- 22:13Seriously. You know, like.
- 22:15Overranging stuff. Like a decade.
- 22:16Yeah, yeah, absolutely. Yeah, sometimes.
- 22:19Sometimes it happens like that and then you're thinking like
- 22:21why didn't it happen like that for me?
- 22:23But most cases not like that. It takes time, absolutely.
- 22:27I forgot the question. We were talking about you
- 22:29getting dropped. So you got dropped.
- 22:32You had your meltdown. Oh.
- 22:34Yeah, 'cause I was saying, oh, 'cause you're talking about the
- 22:37songs and people not listening to the songs and like not paying
- 22:40attention. They don't pay attention.
- 22:41It's very rare that. People do there's like very like
- 22:44I know 2A and Rs that I love and they, you know, listen to
- 22:51everything, respond to everything.
- 22:53They're super honest. Like it's my you could tell
- 22:55someone that one doesn't. Listen to you know, you know,
- 22:59'cause I'm when I like, when I play people on music, I always
- 23:01ask questions. I want feedback, you know what I
- 23:03mean? And then I, this is one of my
- 23:04biggest pet peeves and this is like actually about all my
- 23:07friends, 'cause my friends are like, they're all artists, but
- 23:10when they send me their music, I listen so intently.
- 23:13I give so much feedback I'm like, I love this stack.
- 23:15I love this ad Lib. You did it.
- 23:16That hardly was sick. I love how the melody in verse 2
- 23:18was different, like kind of what I was saying about your music,
- 23:20right? I'm always giving the feedback
- 23:21and I'll send them my stuff and they'll be like, that's so good.
- 23:23And I'm like, oh. I know like I'm like.
- 23:26OK, I know. I listen in depth, like if
- 23:28someone sends me their album, I'm like listening in depth.
- 23:30I give it like I analyze. The fuck out of it, Yes,
- 23:32absolutely. Because I feel like I would want
- 23:34that. People don't do that.
- 23:35No, people don't. Do that.
- 23:36It's soft. I actually don't.
- 23:37Send any of my music to my friends, really.
- 23:40I don't send any. Of my music to my friends, I
- 23:43just keep everything to myself until it's out and then yeah,
- 23:47that's kind of it's only in between the team that you know
- 23:49yeah, I'm a triangle of in a similar.
- 23:51Position it's like I like when my team listens because I want
- 23:54feedback and I want like direction or whatever because
- 23:56I'm essentially anr ING myself right but then I also feel like
- 23:59having too many opinions could sway me or make me want to
- 24:01change things yeah and you want to stick to your vision.
- 24:04You know, yeah, or makes you like.
- 24:05Doubt yourself or doubt your decisions?
- 24:07Yeah, 100. Percent if you got to go in.
- 24:09Like this what we're doing? Yes, 1,000,000.
- 24:11Percent. You need to be able to command
- 24:13it and have a I think that's the word I like to use, especially
- 24:15when I work with people. It's like what is the vision
- 24:17here? What are we trying to make?
- 24:18Like how can we get it to the finish line, etcetera.
- 24:22I also find. It like also like I love in the
- 24:25session because sometimes we write, write stuff and I'm like,
- 24:27OK, is this like intentional? Is this lyric intentional?
- 24:31Like what? And I like what's the synopsis
- 24:33of our song? What what's our intention with
- 24:36this song? Right, Like everyone.
- 24:37Needs to hit yes and I. Always like to said the
- 24:40intention with the song, like basically okay skin care.
- 24:42What is this song about? Yeah.
- 24:44Like what's the? Angle yeah, you know, like,
- 24:46okay, we're it's kind of a sarcastic song about being
- 24:51obsessed with like I'm taking making fun of myself.
- 24:53Yeah, it's satirical. And my.
- 24:55Obsession with skin care, you know, Yeah.
- 24:57And like being living forever and yeah, you know, like, well,
- 25:01we talked. About it before the show
- 25:03started, I was telling you like you have such a unique
- 25:04perspective, especially if you're lyrics, they're very
- 25:06meta, they're very self aware. I think they're super unique and
- 25:10I think even with the concepts that you have like even with
- 25:12like Kiss Back like that's I saw the title when I looked at your
- 25:16project, that's the first one I clicked on 'cause that's an
- 25:17interesting title to me. Kiss Back.
- 25:19What does that mean? You know what I mean?
- 25:20So I play and I'm like, that's a really interesting, like, I wish
- 25:22I could take that back. Exactly.
- 25:24Yeah. And then click bait like
- 25:25reverse. And like, it's all like, yeah,
- 25:27kind of digital. Everything I do is very digital.
- 25:30Like click bait talking about like swiping and you're like,
- 25:32you know, all these like shirtless guys and like don't
- 25:35make the bed. Like everything is like it's so
- 25:37intentional and like unique, you know, like I think that's kind
- 25:41of really special was an artist because a lot of artists lack
- 25:44perspective. I would say they also lack this
- 25:47idea of like creating projects around like cohesive themes or
- 25:50concepts or whatever. So like everything that you're
- 25:52doing, like you said, the digital angle of it, it's like
- 25:54it's super fresh. It like takes time.
- 25:56To build your world, I guess, because I guess as a creative
- 26:00you could be like, oh, who am I? You know, it's very hard to
- 26:02decide like, who are you as an artist?
- 26:04Like you could be like anything. You could go rock, you could go
- 26:07electronic, you could go and it's hard to figure it out for a
- 26:11while. Figure out who you.
- 26:12Are as an artist. It took years, honestly.
- 26:16And because obviously as I'm a songwriter too, so I write
- 26:20everything. So I was like in the beginning
- 26:23when I started writing music, I was like every song that was
- 26:27good, I wanted it to be mine. And I didn't like care about
- 26:30that. It's like this, like it's a
- 26:32different genre like but you were like, but it's a good.
- 26:33Song so I was like, I want. It and then I started like
- 26:37realizing, oh, like, OK, this feels more like me than this,
- 26:42but it's a process. Like, I don't know what
- 26:44triggered it, but then I'm like, OK, the songs I pick feel like
- 26:49me, but they're just like pop songs.
- 26:50Like, what's the personality? What's the angle?
- 26:52What's like? Yeah.
- 26:54You really want to put more of yourself into it too.
- 26:56Like a unique perspective is super important, especially for
- 26:59artists, you know, because I feel like in the.
- 27:00Beginning I was writing my artist project as a songwriter
- 27:02or like I was like, oh, what's like my sorry, I need to like my
- 27:06hair is in my eyes. I know totally do.
- 27:08What you need to do? Behind my glasses I can't really
- 27:11see. Wait, I love your.
- 27:12Eyeshadow. Oh, yeah, yeah, It's a pop star.
- 27:16You're giving everything. Yeah, yes, it's.
- 27:19All black today. Oh, love for the pond.
- 27:22I love, I feel like we matched. We do.
- 27:25We both have glowing hair. We're all in black.
- 27:27Yeah. Yeah, a little.
- 27:28Touch of white. You got hair, you've got the
- 27:30wings, the nails. Oh.
- 27:31My God, I forgot about this. I was like, wait, what?
- 27:33Wings. Yes, that's right, we're on our
- 27:35pop star shit. We are, because we are
- 27:37motherfucking we should. As we should.
- 27:39Period. OK, so you were talking about
- 27:41figuring out your sound and also what who you are as an artist.
- 27:44But honestly, it's also something they kind of just feel
- 27:46like for me, it's like I've always known what I kind of
- 27:49wanted to make, what sounds I wanted to do, like kind of
- 27:52escape. I've always known like, that's
- 27:53really cool and. I it was like, it was very tough
- 27:56for me to figure out like, OK, electronic, like how did you
- 27:59land on? That well, the hair.
- 28:01Slowly got me there and then I I released all the music that was
- 28:06written during my time at the label and I released all I
- 28:11started making new stuff so and basically so I was like, OK, I
- 28:16was like thinking like I want to write the hit, right?
- 28:19I was thinking from that perspective.
- 28:20I wasn't thinking like, do I love this song for me?
- 28:23No, I wasn't thinking like that, right?
- 28:25I was like, I want the hits. Interesting.
- 28:27So then. My producer, Inverness, when we
- 28:30started working together for my project last year, we did a song
- 28:33called Digital Heartbeat, and it sounds like Lady Gaga.
- 28:37And I wasn't thinking. I was like ignoring that.
- 28:39I was like literally ignoring that.
- 28:40And he says to me, OK, now that I know your style, yeah, I know
- 28:46you can make something more catered towards you.
- 28:47No, he's like now. That I know that that's your
- 28:49style. I was like, and I was like,
- 28:51that's not my style. That's like sounds like fucking
- 28:53Lady Gaga. That's a Gaga.
- 28:54He thought that. Was he thought that was you?
- 28:57So I was like. OK, now we need to do something
- 28:59like that's me, so I can't. I guess him saying that to me
- 29:02made me realize, OK, it's not unique enough.
- 29:05I need to like pull my head out of my ass and like, like, right
- 29:10what I like, feel like it's right for me.
- 29:13So I 100% sorry. Going back to old music that I
- 29:16love. Yeah, you're blocking.
- 29:18In you're like, really looking for it.
- 29:19What music? Do I like 100%?
- 29:21What's? Influencing you?
- 29:22What do you want to listen to so then?
- 29:25It was a bunch of electronic stuff, a bunch of weird music.
- 29:29I was like, OK, I want like my songs have BPM, the change.
- 29:32So first one we did was Sailor Moon.
- 29:34Yeah, yeah, that was like super neat.
- 29:37Yeah, it's really. Cool.
- 29:38And like the ending changes and like, you know, that was the
- 29:42start and we started with and yeah, we built from there.
- 29:48I stopped like starting with the chorus, which is something I
- 29:52always used to do really. Yeah, I'm just.
- 29:55Like no rules, Yeah, I like. That I can kind of see that in
- 29:58your music right now. Exactly like what you're talking
- 30:00about. You have another song which was
- 30:02a kiss back. You also do a BPM change and
- 30:04like it drops down it. Gets low like.
- 30:06Yeah, I like that because like for me, a philosophy I have
- 30:09going into my project is like, every song needs to be
- 30:12interesting. There needs to be an element in
- 30:13every song that's interesting because like, I imagine a
- 30:16listener listening to the album top to bottom, it's like, how do
- 30:18I keep their attention as they're listening?
- 30:20What can I do? Like, what's something I could
- 30:22throw in there that they're not expecting?
- 30:24And that's what excites me, and that's why I like listening to
- 30:26your project. I always like.
- 30:28Think like, OK, what's like surprising?
- 30:30And yeah, that's hell yeah. If I want to.
- 30:31Go One Direction. I want to I go the opposite, you
- 30:34know, like if I feel like going like, oh, this should be next.
- 30:37No, then we go the opposite way because, you know, there's so
- 30:40many like of. These rules when writing a pop
- 30:42song, right? But then also like, and I love,
- 30:44I love the rules when writing a pop song.
- 30:46Like I hear to a lot of them too, but also breaking the rules
- 30:48could make it really interesting and kind of like shifting.
- 30:50Especially I try to think about like what is a listener going to
- 30:53experience when they hear this song?
- 30:56And that's like kind of what I'm trying to write to.
- 30:57Obviously an experience, but like I want it to be something
- 31:00that's like an experience for them too.
- 31:02Yeah, exactly. It's like it took me a while to
- 31:05think like that, you know? For some reason, I was just
- 31:08like, OK, what's the hit song? What's like the best melody
- 31:11like? And it kind of feels like cold.
- 31:15Not as personal. Yeah.
- 31:17Yeah, absolutely. Because then you're you're
- 31:18chasing like a hit, you're chasing something that's going
- 31:21to do well versus like doing something that's more you and
- 31:24feels right. Yeah.
- 31:25And that's always. Like the stuff that people will
- 31:28connect to, I guess the things that is in person. 100% you'll
- 31:31be so shocked because like I, I never go into a session thinking
- 31:35let's write a hit. I go into a session like let's
- 31:37write what I want to write and like something I'm feeling.
- 31:39And I actually find like the most the most weird out there
- 31:42different songs I do like the most personal ones are the ones
- 31:44that everyone like loves the most.
- 31:45And I'm like, oh, that's I'm so surprised.
- 31:48Yeah, I love that. Yeah.
- 31:50So you know you've always wanted to be an artist growing up.
- 31:53You always wanted to be a pop star.
- 31:54So how did you get into songwriting and then becoming an
- 31:58artist so. Basically I, I had some, I was
- 32:03like in Romania at a studio for a second and I kind of learned
- 32:07there how to write a song. Like, you know, what's the
- 32:09difference between a chorus and a verse and totally, you know,
- 32:13like all that. And then I moved to London just
- 32:17because I had, I had one contact.
- 32:18Was that the song? Right I.
- 32:20Was just, I wanted to get away from Romania because I, I just
- 32:23like always wanted to write in English and like wanted to be in
- 32:26America. That was always my dream and I
- 32:30just didn't want to write in Romanian for some reason.
- 32:32It's just not my vibe. I love English, I love my
- 32:35language and everything. Like it's really cool.
- 32:38But I've always had this vision that, OK, I want to, I want to
- 32:42go to America and do music in English.
- 32:45And I moved to London. That was the first place I could
- 32:48move. I, I got a contact there for
- 32:51Jason, who's now my manager. He's, he's been my manager for
- 32:5310 years. And I'm, I just moved to London
- 32:57and I said to him, like, will you work with me?
- 32:59So first I went for some music like writing sessions and then I
- 33:032 weeks later I moved to London and I called him and I was like,
- 33:05I moved to London and look, I live here now.
- 33:07Who is this Romanian crazy girl that's like stalking off just
- 33:11dropped everything came. Over to London, Yeah, I just
- 33:13dropped it. I.
- 33:13Told my mom like this. What's gonna happen?
- 33:16I'm gonna. No.
- 33:16How old were you? Don't ask me that.
- 33:20Oh. Shit, wait.
- 33:21Oh my God, that's pretty young. Yeah, young, but it was.
- 33:25It's been 10 years since that's crazy.
- 33:27And you just did it too. I just didn't.
- 33:29That's crazy. And I.
- 33:31Told my mom like, I'm moving to London and you're going to pay
- 33:35for half, I'm going to pay for half.
- 33:37I'm going to get a job at Starbucks.
- 33:38I was thinking at the time, I'm going to work like Friday,
- 33:41Saturday, like Sunday at a normal job.
- 33:44I want to have a normal job experience because it's not like
- 33:47I'm going to actually have a job ever.
- 33:49You just knew you're. I knew it was creative.
- 33:51Then you're going to be a pop. Star and I wanted to have.
- 33:53The job experience for discipline and everything, you
- 33:54know, because I think it's important.
- 33:56And four days in the studio. And that's what happened.
- 33:59I didn't work at Starbucks. I worked in a pub, in a football
- 34:04pub. OK.
- 34:05In London. It's pretty crazy.
- 34:07Yeah. And then I was doing sessions,
- 34:08so I guess I had, I had to learn how to write in English.
- 34:13Yeah, there are sessions for other.
- 34:15Artists or yourself? I was just doing.
- 34:16Sessions. Just sessions.
- 34:17Yeah, pitch sessions. Like not even pitch sessions.
- 34:19I was just in sessions every day before they were they Like were
- 34:22you by? Yourself or there other people
- 34:24there too like other writers always.
- 34:25Sick. OK, cool.
- 34:27A producer and a Co writer or like different combinations.
- 34:30You know, as we do, as we do, right, of course.
- 34:33And. I guess like songs started being
- 34:36cut. I feel like in the beginning
- 34:37when you're in sessions, like people, like, don't believe you
- 34:40that you're an artist. And they're like, yeah, yeah,
- 34:42yeah. You have to prove.
- 34:43Yourself, that's the thing. Like you genuinely do you really
- 34:46do they feel like, I don't know, it feels random to them or
- 34:48whatever until like you have something going on for yourself.
- 34:50Yeah, I'm like I'm an artist. I'm an artist.
- 34:52Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Totally.
- 34:53OK, Right, Bitch, the songs. And then I started getting cuts
- 34:55and big cuts and bigger cuts. And so you weren't working on.
- 34:59Music for yourself at the time, though, I was always.
- 35:01But like, you know, like when you were like new, I don't know
- 35:03if you had this experience, but nobody would want to work for my
- 35:07project. Everyone wanted to like do pitch
- 35:09sessions and write for other people or like pitch the songs.
- 35:12And you know, like I have that. Exactly you couldn't afford.
- 35:15To pay for the producers and all that.
- 35:17So it's kind of like and then no one wants to write with.
- 35:19You because then it's like you're new and like people want
- 35:21to go with the things that are like the best bet, like where am
- 35:23I going to get the cut? Where is this going to?
- 35:24Is this going to be a hit? Which I think that's kind.
- 35:26Of a mistake because it's really nice to be involved in projects
- 35:29and yes, you know how to build an artist.
- 35:31Yeah, developing an artist. And senior from the beginning,
- 35:33like Slash puppy was on the show a couple months ago and he said
- 35:35the same. Oh yeah, I love slushy.
- 35:37I love slushy. Actually, he actually.
- 35:38Produced one of my songs from my album No Fucking.
- 35:42Way. Oh, wait.
- 35:43Oh my God, can you play that for me after this?
- 35:44Yeah, I'll play it. Oh.
- 35:45My God, I'm sorry. I'll play you.
- 35:46Something too. Yeah, let me.
- 35:47Play I'm gonna want to hear everything OK wait, I'm so.
- 35:50Excited to show you. OK OK, so you're in London,
- 35:53you're working on the music, you're doing stuff for yourself
- 35:55too, but you're also songwriting.
- 35:56And then you actually end up becoming a very successful
- 35:59songwriter. One of your recent songs that
- 36:01came out like I love this song, by the way, is Pinky up There
- 36:05You go by cats. I was just doing the.
- 36:07Dance for you earlier you were you're going to.
- 36:09Teach me the dance I could do. I knew your version of the dance
- 36:11because, like, it wasn't a lot of hopping.
- 36:13Yeah, exactly. So.
- 36:14I can do that. I love the dance.
- 36:16Is so good cast. Ice choreographer is amazing by
- 36:19the way. Yeah, I love him.
- 36:21I'm so crazy. So telephone pinky up like.
- 36:24Writing that song, we wrote it. With Dwili and Maxie, who like I
- 36:28write a lot of keep up with them.
- 36:30I love them. Everything we write gets cut,
- 36:32basically. Oh my God, that's crazy.
- 36:33Yeah, we have like a 99% cut rate.
- 36:36What a bus. Crazy.
- 36:38Yeah, seriously. And we just, like meet in the
- 36:40studio and we're like, let's write a song and we never know
- 36:43what we're gonna write. And so when you did Pinky up.
- 36:45You didn't know it was gonna no so based.
- 36:47No, no, we didn't know, we wrote in 2024.
- 36:49Oh shit, you just wrote. It yeah, we just wrote.
- 36:51It and then we found out last year last year that they wanted
- 36:56it for cats eye and I was like what's?
- 36:58The. Fuck I love cats eye so much
- 37:01holy shit. So my friends.
- 37:03Wrote gnarly like Banksy, Madison and Alice.
- 37:06They wrote Gnarly and I guess that song got me into the band.
- 37:12And then I watched Stream Academy and I was like, became
- 37:15obsessed with the band and everything.
- 37:16So it was like one of my favorite cuts because of that,
- 37:20because I'm a fan of them, you know?
- 37:21Yeah. Oh my God.
- 37:22So. When you wrote it, you had no
- 37:23idea where it was going to be. No, no and.
- 37:24Then we did like a bunch of rewrites like change lyrics and
- 37:28La La and yeah, Justin Tranter and Skyler Stone St. got
- 37:33involved and helped finish the song and like, you know, we got
- 37:37like it. That's so.
- 37:39Exciting. That's their highest starting
- 37:40single. It is I.
- 37:42Don't check the stats because then I put pressure on it, you
- 37:44know, good. I just let it happen and hope
- 37:48for the best. That's amazing.
- 37:51The best happens OK. That's crazy you've also ran.
- 37:55But I love it because I. Went to Coachella and they
- 37:57performed it. Did you see them performing?
- 37:58Yes, I was like. I was like I need to get to the
- 38:01front and then like they didn't put.
- 38:03You up there with them? No, I didn't.
- 38:05Get an artist fast. Unfortunately no.
- 38:07Why? But.
- 38:07You were with that song, I guess like the.
- 38:09Girls had a lot of. I know it just didn't happen.
- 38:12OK, that's fair. Unfortunately.
- 38:14OK, they should have given me a pass.
- 38:16No, no worries. You saw them perform it.
- 38:18That's a good point. Anyways, It would be like kind
- 38:20of like elbowing. My way to the front I was
- 38:21telling everyone please, I I just need to move before I wrote
- 38:24the song. Yes.
- 38:26Oh my God, did they believe? You and then.
- 38:28I don't know. They were like kind of like,
- 38:29yeah, stop trying to get in front of me.
- 38:31And I was like, just getting in front and then, oh, you're just
- 38:33pushing through. My friend who was.
- 38:34With me, she was like, no, let's stop.
- 38:36So you're elbowing everyone? You're trying to get to the
- 38:37front to see cats. I do pinky up.
- 38:39Like how close did you get so? Basically, have you met the
- 38:44girls? No, I haven't.
- 38:45So I got pretty close to front because this twink saved me.
- 38:48He was like, can I go in front? And I was like, and why are you
- 38:52going? I was like, no, but but if
- 38:54you're going, I'm going with you.
- 38:55And he was like, OK, let's go. So we like pinky up.
- 38:58Then we went. And then he was like more brave
- 39:01than me. So he was like, Oh yeah, twinks
- 39:02are. Fearless because at some point.
- 39:03I was like, I lost my courage and then he came along like an
- 39:08Angel to save me. And then we, we, we like kind of
- 39:12like locked arms and went together.
- 39:14You wrote the. Song Yes.
- 39:16Was he gagged? Yes.
- 39:17Oh my God. I'd be so gaggy on.
- 39:19I'd be like, yeah, bitch, we're getting up there.
- 39:20Took photos. We were.
- 39:21Singing the song, I was like great.
- 39:22He like got me like super close to the front, which is great.
- 39:25That's awesome. Did.
- 39:26You go to Coachella alone. Were you with people?
- 39:28No, I was like. With my friend and she's like
- 39:31also filming me. So we we basically like went to
- 39:35Coachella and we took so much like we shot so much content and
- 39:39everything. You brought the wig and
- 39:41everything. Yes.
- 39:41So do you get? Dirty and dusty.
- 39:43With the dust I I didn't bring. This one but I brought the other
- 39:45one which is like the tails and it's easier to wear the blue
- 39:48one. Yes, yes.
- 39:50So. So basically, this is really
- 39:52funny, right 'cause you know, there was a live stream, my
- 39:54friends were sending me screenshots, you could see my
- 39:56hair light up in the crowd and it was 100,000 people there.
- 39:59Oh my God, how you could see. My little like, yeah.
- 40:01My little blue little tails, it was so cute.
- 40:04They're like watching. You like, make your way to the
- 40:05front and I'll show you like. In their photo, in their their
- 40:09selfie that they took. Like you can see me in the
- 40:11little selfie. Shut the fuck up.
- 40:12It's so funny. Oh my God, that's so exciting.
- 40:14Wait, were you gagging? They performed pinky up.
- 40:16I know were you like Oh my God, I wrote that yes.
- 40:18So they. Started with pinky up and then
- 40:21everyone put their pinkies up in the crowd.
- 40:25Everyone knew all the lyrics obviously and because obviously
- 40:30what song was up. It was great.
- 40:32It was like, I never felt like that in my life.
- 40:34Was like the best. Oh my God.
- 40:35I can't even imagine like and there's such good.
- 40:38Performers like they ate that up.
- 40:40I mean, of course you've. Seen it online, but seeing it
- 40:41live is just different. It's like even better.
- 40:44It's like so good. They're so good.
- 40:46They're so talented. Yeah, yes.
- 40:48Oh my God, they're incredible. Well, beyond them.
- 40:50You've also written for other artists too.
- 40:51You have the cuts with Charlie XCXI.
- 40:54It was bag for you. Yes, I love bag for you.
- 40:57Yeah, I love it too. Oh my God.
- 40:59That's my that's actually my favorite Charlie cut.
- 41:00Can you believe I have a? Charlie XCX cut Can you believe
- 41:03that? How did that happen?
- 41:04How did you write it? With her?
- 41:05No. So me and my friend Rolo,
- 41:09basically we wrote it and with the producer DFA sent us.
- 41:15So basically it came from Atlantic.
- 41:18Yeah, that's right. So it was like.
- 41:20From the era when she when, you know, the A and Rs were like
- 41:24kind of doing a lot. So it was before she came into
- 41:27her own and people were still writing for her and she was like
- 41:29taking songs and she didn't put her foot down yet, you know,
- 41:33totes, totes. So basically one of her A and Rs
- 41:36thought about like flipping, you know?
- 41:40Yeah, cry for you. Yeah.
- 41:43When we were like, let's do back for you.
- 41:45Yeah. So we wrote in like 2 hours.
- 41:46Next day it was like cut, shut the fuck up.
- 41:49Next day we were like. Charlie's taking it.
- 41:50Oh, great. No, wait, did she?
- 41:52Change anything from the working she did a.
- 41:55Full lyric rewrite and then went completely back to our version.
- 42:00Oh really? No word was changed, so she
- 42:01rewrote. It And then she went back to
- 42:03what you wrote. Yeah, Oh my God, that was just
- 42:06which. Was crazy, yeah, but like, just
- 42:08the fact that I have a Charlie XCX cut is are you a huge fan?
- 42:11Beyond. Yeah, I love her.
- 42:13Like, Oh my gosh. So.
- 42:14You were never going to read her album is.
- 42:16So cool. It's like one of the coolest
- 42:17things. Like she kind of like.
- 42:18It was such a moment. Yeah.
- 42:20Yeah, definitely. She changed.
- 42:21Pop kind of, you know, yeah, I feel like.
- 42:24Honestly brat's I've been in so many sessions this past year and
- 42:28they're like I want brat, I want brat, I want brat.
- 42:30Can't do that though. What's her favorite song off her
- 42:34album Brat? Yeah, girl, so confusing.
- 42:39Featuring Lord. Oh no.
- 42:40Guess with Billie Eilish, those ones.
- 42:42Oh, Spring Breakers of Ke$ha, that one, yes.
- 42:45Wait, really? Guess.
- 42:47It's guess. I'm going.
- 42:48I think my favorite 1 is. Apple.
- 42:49Apple's great. Too actually von and then guess.
- 42:52Von Dodge. Also von Dodge is great.
- 42:53I love von dodge. I like the videos.
- 42:55Braggadocious things. Which one's your favorite?
- 42:57Video. Guess guess mine.
- 43:00Too I want to make a video. Light gas like where she's like
- 43:03just. Like I like all the.
- 43:04Cuts and like with all the the partying and like her charisma
- 43:09is just so great. You know what I mean?
- 43:10Like. Underwear like like the.
- 43:11Mountain of. Underwear is like, it's so cool,
- 43:14Gaggy I. Love.
- 43:15Gaggy. Gaggy, I'm wondering how much.
- 43:17Was the budget for for getting all that underwear, I think how
- 43:21much do you think they donated and also they.
- 43:23Did it on the universal lot I think it was probably let me do
- 43:25like 100K more. She probably had five. 100 Wow.
- 43:28And she had Billy there, you know what I mean?
- 43:30That video is really great, a staple in my gay pop music video
- 43:33night. Like how she like it's like very
- 43:36TikTok. I love that.
- 43:37I love that 'cause she like. Turns here and then the camera
- 43:38turns and then the camera's on that one and then she turns.
- 43:40Very TikTok. Transition literally 'cause I'm
- 43:42getting. Ready to do music videos and I'm
- 43:44and that's a reference one for me.
- 43:45I'm like, I like how it's like she's moving and the camera's
- 43:48moving with her. It's so we know who did it.
- 43:49First Tate McRae in her 1035 is 1035 so long with yes.
- 43:55So yeah, she's like it's she's doing the you have to watch.
- 43:58She's doing the TikTok cuts, but it's very subtle because she
- 44:01goes like when she moves the camera moves and then it's like
- 44:04very TikTok style of like editing.
- 44:07Did you like the beg? For you video.
- 44:09No. Why I say that?
- 44:11Yeah, like you say it. I just feel like.
- 44:13I don't. I feel like she came into her
- 44:15style fleeing. Yeah, after that album.
- 44:17After that album. But still.
- 44:19You're on such an I was like she was.
- 44:20Like still trying to figure it out at the time.
- 44:23I feel totes. And then she just did.
- 44:26Right after, down. There you go.
- 44:28Put her foot down. Put.
- 44:29Her foot down. Whatever.
- 44:30You got a Charlie XDX cut? Yeah, okay, that's sick.
- 44:33And then you also did Jelius with Illet with Also Delulu alum
- 44:36Sophie Powers was on the remix for that.
- 44:38Yes, exactly. And you did that one.
- 44:40Willie too, yes. So that's one of the songs.
- 44:44Oh, the same theme like Dwellian magazie.
- 44:46Yeah, yeah, yeah. All the cuts you guys are
- 44:48getting the we. Just wrote.
- 44:49Two more songs there. So freaking cool.
- 44:52Yesterday and the day before. Yes.
- 44:53Oh, how? Fun.
- 44:54It's just so fun to. Be in the studio and like it is.
- 44:56I love when I don't write for me because it's like, what's fresh
- 44:59fresh? No fresh.
- 45:00Really. There's the pressure.
- 45:03I do not know what we're going to write and then this like
- 45:05random thing comes, yeah, because then also I'm not.
- 45:07As precious with things as much as like, it's not mine, like I
- 45:10just pitch whatever comes out and whatever comes out of people
- 45:12they take. It what's mine?
- 45:14Oh, me too. I'm like.
- 45:15Every line has to be intentional.
- 45:16Everything needs to be impactful.
- 45:17Everything needs to be like super like, I'm so nitpicky with
- 45:19it. So I 100% got that.
- 45:21And then you also did extra L of Jenny.
- 45:23I did with. Featuring.
- 45:24Dochi yes. So how did that come about too?
- 45:26Did you work with her directly or was it another?
- 45:28Was it a pitch song? So there was a.
- 45:29Camp for Jenny in LA and my friend BAE who was like my Co
- 45:34writer on the song she put together the room.
- 45:38She's amazing. She's like one of my top
- 45:40collaborators. We write together so good and we
- 45:43did both of the Jenny songs in that same day.
- 45:48So the producer is dem joints and us to wear in the session.
- 45:51We wrote extra L and filter on the same day Jenny came in at
- 45:57the end of the day she was like we played her the song.
- 46:00I was like shaking in my boots. She was there just like, so
- 46:04cool, like with her sunglasses on.
- 46:07And then she was like vibing to the songs.
- 46:09And then did she like say. Anything while listening like 2.
- 46:11Weeks later or a week later, she was like cutting them.
- 46:15Oh my God, she. Was like I love.
- 46:17Really, she's super cool. About it, yeah.
- 46:18She was like, cool, this is good.
- 46:19Yeah. And she took it.
- 46:20Yes, both. Songs that we did, it was like a
- 46:23blessed day, genuinely. Oh my God, I'm just watching
- 46:26the. Testaments and all.
- 46:27I'm like very Gilead. Blessed day.
- 46:30I love that you're going. To put it in a song.
- 46:31Yeah, the next section of the day.
- 46:34You're going to. I don't know, it's good day.
- 46:35I want to write it. Praise be there, you.
- 46:38Go. You never know.
- 46:39I mean, you have your list, right?
- 46:40Yeah. When you're coming in for your
- 46:41own project, you know what titles you want, and that's what
- 46:44you write off of. But you don't.
- 46:45You just have a title. You don't have like a concept
- 46:47around it. You just go into the session and
- 46:48then you work around it. I just have a.
- 46:49Title. And then I kind of, I have, I
- 46:51have like a feeling in my head is more like visual or like a
- 46:56feeling. I don't know how to express it.
- 46:58It's like I got that. It's not a movie.
- 47:01Yeah. It's just like a a feeling and a
- 47:03personality. Yeah.
- 47:05And then I try to catch it and then, yeah, I never like, think
- 47:10about the songs vibe to you. Know.
- 47:13Yeah, but I do. Have the vision in my head and
- 47:15it's a feeling and I need to like grab it and then it's
- 47:18theirs. I so kind of like that.
- 47:20I so got that. Yeah.
- 47:21Also wanted to congratulate you because you currently have the
- 47:24number one Billboard World Albums through TX, TS Bed of
- 47:28Thorns, which you wrote on. I know.
- 47:30Congratulations. Thank you.
- 47:31How? Exciting is that.
- 47:32Yeah, it's really exciting. This was a good month.
- 47:34Yeah. You're killing it.
- 47:35Only a good month. Yeah.
- 47:37Genuinely. Also, I have another Island song
- 47:39that dropped. It's called It's Me.
- 47:41And it's funny because people on the Internet go like, who's at
- 47:45fault for these songs? And then they play Pinky Up and
- 47:48like, it's me, 'cause they're crazy songs, you know?
- 47:50It's just like fun. They're very out there.
- 47:51Rule breaking, you know, things shift up and I'm like, it's.
- 47:55Me I'm. I'm.
- 47:56You're like I'm I'm. The contributor to these?
- 47:58Yeah. Well, honestly, what I always
- 48:00say about my music, it's like, I want people to either like, love
- 48:02it, love it, love it or hate it. Like, I don't want a lukewarm.
- 48:05I don't want like a OK like I want like strong.
- 48:08Reaction. I know it's great.
- 48:10But you know what? If anyone hates on pinky up I go
- 48:13and I go like no Pinky up is the Best Song in the world.
- 48:16Like on your. Med account.
- 48:18No way like. On yourself, do you say?
- 48:20Like, you're the writer? Yeah, it's like.
- 48:23They hate on like Cat's eyes videos or I'm like going and and
- 48:26we're like, this is the Best Song in the world.
- 48:28Everyone loves this song. Offend them.
- 48:30Oh. My gosh, Jesus, that's crazy.
- 48:33You just don't know. How to have fun?
- 48:34Did you have like? The version Did you see the
- 48:36version of pinky up with the member who had left?
- 48:40Because did she do a version 2? We can't talk about that.
- 48:44Oh. NDA type shit.
- 48:47OK. Well what other K pop cuts do
- 48:49you have that are like exciting for you?
- 48:52I have more. Oh, I have one that's really
- 48:55good, but I can't say what it is.
- 48:56Oh, it hasn't come out yet. No, and I have.
- 48:58To zip. Oh no, Be excited.
- 49:00Until it comes out I'm. Super excited.
- 49:01Are we all going to be gagged? Yes, I'm already gagged and then
- 49:04I have more. Eyelets stuff coming.
- 49:06Yeah, yeah. Because I love doing there.
- 49:09Yeah. I just have like probably like 3
- 49:11more songs on hold with them right now.
- 49:13And yeah, I'm also working on, you know, a lot of hype
- 49:19projects, so it's great. That's a huge blasting.
- 49:23I love hype. It's like my favorite.
- 49:24I shouldn't say this, but it's my favorite.
- 49:26No say. It I mean, they've done you so
- 49:28good. I know it's.
- 49:29Like really good. Like, their team is amazing and,
- 49:32you know, they listen to everything, which is great, you
- 49:35know? And yeah, they've been like,
- 49:38getting me so many cuts and getting my songs out there
- 49:41through the bands. And do you prefer like?
- 49:43Doing songwriting or do you prefer being the artist?
- 49:46I like both. Honesty, you know, like yes,
- 49:50because it's different things like they kind of support each
- 49:52other in a way that they inspire each other.
- 49:57So, you know, like I write all these songs for like pitch and a
- 50:00lot. And then sometimes it happens
- 50:02that I like kind of like start an idea that could be for my
- 50:06project. And then I'm like, guys, this is
- 50:07like I think I'm like making an idea for my project now.
- 50:11So I like keep it then for my project.
- 50:12So it kind of happens like that. Interesting.
- 50:15Yeah, they all feed through to each other, so.
- 50:17And I never get bored, you know, 'cause I feel like if you only
- 50:20write one genre, then like I found if I would only write
- 50:24electronic music, I would be bored.
- 50:25Like I'm so easily bored. Like if I thought about
- 50:28something, I'm already bored of it, you know?
- 50:31So basically I love like doing like dance music, doing pop
- 50:36music, doing K pop, doing like my crazy songs for my artist
- 50:39project, you know, it's like very different now.
- 50:42I'm kind of feeling doing ballads again because it's been
- 50:44a while. Just do it.
- 50:45Fuck it, there are no rules and you sit at a piano.
- 50:49Yeah, fuck it, just do. It so with electronic therapy,
- 50:52this is your is this going to be your full length debut album?
- 50:54And with this one, these bitches, these corporate bitches
- 50:58are trying to kill me. And then also skin care.
- 51:00So these are the 1st 2 singles from the project.
- 51:03They're going to stay in this world of like this electronic.
- 51:05They feel a little industrial to me too, you know, really like
- 51:08bratty, not bratty, Charlie, but like, yes, like in your face,
- 51:12you know, it's giving. Rave it's giving the whole album
- 51:16is giving therapy session at the club.
- 51:18You're working on your mental health at the rave, you know,
- 51:22Flo just announced. Their new album and it's
- 51:24literally called Therapy at the club, really.
- 51:28I love that. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 51:30Well, see, mine is. Giving that, but I'm not saying
- 51:32that. Electronic therapy, Yeah.
- 51:35And this is coming out over the summer.
- 51:37Yes. You're going to roll.
- 51:38So I'm. Dropping, you know, a lot of
- 51:39singles because I don't write. Besides, basically I got it.
- 51:44But also. Because, you know, people don't
- 51:47know me yet, so if I would just drop an album, I can't.
- 51:49I don't want to waste a song. So I want to like give them one
- 51:51by one. And I'm not giving all the songs
- 51:54like the songs a chance to. Have a life and like, be heard
- 51:57and everything. Yeah.
- 51:59So I'm giving. Them like I'm releasing every
- 52:01month and you're doing this. Independently now, yes.
- 52:03And you prefer it over the record label at this point.
- 52:07Point in time yes, yeah, it's it's it's really empowering to.
- 52:13Be in. Charge of every decision.
- 52:15And I have like my team, you know, like Charlie, yes,
- 52:19Charlie, Alice, who films all films everything with me and
- 52:23does all my marketing with me. I have my other manager Jason.
- 52:26And you know, I have like a lot of people that I love that I
- 52:29keep adding to the team and the team is growing, but it's ours
- 52:32and we decide. And such a great feeling.
- 52:34Yeah, it's. Amazing.
- 52:36And the songwriters. Like obviously my team, like
- 52:39Inverness who's like my producer, he's like the best.
- 52:41And then Madison Love who's like my Co writer.
- 52:44You know, we have like a team and I love that.
- 52:46Like we're built. It feels like we're building
- 52:48something, you know? And I can make.
- 52:51All the decisions and. Nobody's telling you what to do.
- 52:55Yeah, it's like, amazing. It's so freeing.
- 52:57It's so powerful, It's so empowering.
- 52:58And then if I'm ready at some point, I wouldn't be opposed to
- 53:02signing again. Oh, yeah.
- 53:03But you know, it needs to be on my terms 100%.
- 53:06Yeah, You know what Bonnie Mckeeway says this getting
- 53:08dropped from a label is like an artist rite of passage.
- 53:12Yeah. And I've had so many guests come
- 53:13on the show who are signing labels who also got dropped.
- 53:16You know, Sophie was also dropped from Atlantic.
- 53:18Oh yes. Oh, yeah.
- 53:20Atlantic sisters, drop sisters. There you go.
- 53:24I love Sylvia, love for project. And yeah, Bonnie's like one of
- 53:26my friends. She's like a queen.
- 53:28She wrote like some of the biggest pop songs she has.
- 53:31I love her. See, this is what's amazing
- 53:34about being a songwriter, that you meet all these creatives and
- 53:37you're part of this community. It's like very like fulfilling,
- 53:42I guess, to my what? What did I say?
- 53:44Sensitive, The sensitive, all the sensitive souls, you know,
- 53:48we gather in a lay in the sun. We write songs together.
- 53:51It's kind of like, it's so wholesome.
- 53:53That is wholesome. You know what, your perspective
- 53:56on it is so fresh 'cause I look at the music industry as like
- 53:59such a gate cap club. I also see it as like so
- 54:02competitive. And I also see people like, so
- 54:05like, I don't know, they're not as welcoming.
- 54:07Like like you said, like I just started my artist project and
- 54:10it's like, yeah, people aren't going to want to write for you.
- 54:12I know, but you? Like try and then at some point,
- 54:14like, you know, you get you get success and then more people
- 54:16want to write. And it's important to write with
- 54:18the people around you and your friends.
- 54:20And then that's how like you don't necessarily need to go
- 54:23like, oh, I want to write with that big writer or big producer.
- 54:26You write with who's around you and then amazing music.
- 54:29Yeah. And then you grow together this.
- 54:30Is like so amazing to also grow together right?
- 54:32I fucking agree. They played.
- 54:34They started like, you know, cats.
- 54:36I started Coachella with Pinky up and then ended on Gnarly,
- 54:39which is also my friends who wrote it.
- 54:41And it's like, and I like film the video, send them the videos.
- 54:45You know, like, it's really wholesome to be in this
- 54:48community that's like all these creative people.
- 54:52Like all these? Personalities and it's like
- 54:54powerful, you know because we're like like a group, you know like
- 54:58I can call so many people and ask like let's do a song for
- 55:02this or like do a song for me like you know like.
- 55:06I feel like being. Just an artist could be a bit
- 55:08more isolating and being also songwriter gives you a whole
- 55:11network of amazing people that you can.
- 55:15Yeah, I'm excited to get. Into that 'cause I feel like
- 55:17right now I just feel like everyone so competitive and
- 55:20gatekeepy, you know? Oh, really?
- 55:22I feel like I just like I always hit the people with the truth
- 55:24and I'm always very direct. So love that I'm people can't
- 55:27really with your Zodiac sign can.
- 55:28I guess, guess, guess. Virgo.
- 55:30No, I. Don't know Capricorn.
- 55:32No, I'm a. Libra.
- 55:34Libra, what are you? I'm a Virgo.
- 55:36You're a Virgo, yeah? Yeah, my bestie in Romania is a
- 55:38Virgo. No way I love Virgos.
- 55:39Look at. Us.
- 55:40I love libras. Yeah, I love Libras.
- 55:42Yeah, Libras are. Very.
- 55:47Beautiful. Yes.
- 55:49I mean dramatic. I'm very, I'm super dramatic
- 55:52like so I are you OCD? Like, do you like to organize
- 55:56your stuff? And like your room is like,
- 55:58yeah, that's the most. Part.
- 55:59I love that. When I have time or like make
- 56:01lists with things like my friends is like my friend is
- 56:04like always with a list like yes I fucking.
- 56:07Love lists. I live by list.
- 56:08I'm super organized. I love a schedule, I love a
- 56:10calendar. I love keeping everything super
- 56:12tight. You know what I mean?
- 56:14So. Yes, I'm completely right there
- 56:16with you. Wait, do you like that too?
- 56:18I don't know. Oh no.
- 56:20Are you like? Type E I am.
- 56:22Type B trying to be type AI. Got it.
- 56:24I got it. Kind of like.
- 56:25This is like what my logo is about, like, you know, chaos.
- 56:28And I'm trying to organize the chaos and I'm trying to like,
- 56:31that's on your teeth. Too.
- 56:33Yeah, that's it. And it's going to be on my.
- 56:34Merch as well, which is going to drop with the album, basically.
- 56:37Oh clock. Yeah, it's going to be more like
- 56:39a brand, a clothing brand rather than actual merch, because I'm
- 56:42not. I'm actually making like unique
- 56:44pieces. Oh my God, we need to.
- 56:46Talk about that. We'll get into that.
- 56:47OK, that's awesome. I'm super excited.
- 56:49Wait, what's coming after skin care?
- 56:51So. The next single that's going to
- 56:53drop is electronic therapy. Oh title.
- 56:56Track yeah, I love a title track yeah, but it's.
- 56:58Not the main single of the album, it's just going to be
- 57:02the. Third one before the album comes
- 57:04out or you're going to do I'm going to do like 2.
- 57:07More before the album and then I'm going to do a deluxe, you
- 57:10know, I'm milking it to make sure people hear it.
- 57:12You know, there's so many artists and stuff and I want to
- 57:15like make sure I give every song.
- 57:17Like I highlight every song. That's kind of what I'm looking
- 57:19at. Too.
- 57:20Yeah, I agree with that. Give them songs, their moment,
- 57:22give them a chance to live, right.
- 57:24OK, so we've talked so much about everything and I always
- 57:29ask every guest that come on the show what their most delulu take
- 57:32is. What do you think is the most
- 57:33delusional thing you believe in? You talked about thinking you're
- 57:36an alien. Live forever.
- 57:38Live forever. You gave us a few already.
- 57:40Yeah, I can. I.
- 57:41Believe that literally no matter if like, no matter where you
- 57:45come from, like you come from Eastern Europe, there's no music
- 57:48industry in my hometown, right. And I, I manifested and worked
- 57:52hard to be an artist. Yes.
- 57:54Well, everything was against it. You know, you can fucking do it.
- 57:57Yeah. There's no excuse if you wanted
- 57:59to do it. Yeah, yeah.
- 58:01But I learned when I was 3 like my friends were like, I dropped
- 58:04out of school and my friends were like, what are you doing
- 58:07with your life? You're ruining your life.
- 58:09Go back to school. Go back to school, go back to
- 58:10school until even when I was in London, they were like, what are
- 58:15you doing in London? Go back to school.
- 58:16Like people were going to people.
- 58:18Were going to like really be and then I would perform.
- 58:20In a DJ in my hometown, there's a big festival called Untold and
- 58:24I was the only Romanian artist on the mainstage and I performed
- 58:28with this DJ from the 70 people. I had a main artist mainstage, A
- 58:34backstage access and they didn't want to let me in the next day
- 58:38at the festival because they were, they were like, no
- 58:41Romanian artist is performing on stage and I was going with a DJ
- 58:44so they didn't know that's my name.
- 58:47So my friend was showing them photos of me on the stage.
- 58:49Look, that's her on the stage from yesterday.
- 58:51So they let me in the festival because they thought I, I, I
- 58:55found the like bracelet somewhere.
- 58:57I was like, no, I actually performed with this DJ.
- 58:59And that's when my friends were like, oh, I see.
- 59:03Yeah, look how far. You've come.
- 59:05Yeah. Oh my God.
- 59:06Congrats. So you.
- 59:07Can do anything. What's your the Lulu take I.
- 59:10I I agree. I don't even think that's the
- 59:11Lulu, you know what I mean? I think my most to Lulu take.
- 59:16I. I am going to be, I already am
- 59:18the biggest pop star in the world.
- 59:19Fuck yeah I love. That period both.
- 59:21Of us, both of us. We're pop stars.
- 59:23We are. Glowing in the.
- 59:24Dark I'm I'm super excited to play that.
- 59:28I think you're gonna like it. I love that I.
- 59:30Can't wait to hear it. That's my delulu take.
- 59:32I don't think that's a that delulu.
- 59:33I also a big believer anyone could do anything.
- 59:36I like big dreamers. I resonate and I I'm so drawn to
- 59:38big dreamers. Like, I love people who like,
- 59:40tell me like their craziest dreams.
- 59:41I'm like, oh, I like you. I want to be around you.
- 59:43Like those are the types of people I like to be around.
- 59:45Yeah, I agree. Same.
- 59:46So we're just. On our pop stardom shit, you
- 59:48know how it is, Yeah. No boring people allowed,
- 59:50period. Absolutely not.
- 59:52Well, we have had so much fun today.
- 59:54I love this. This is.
- 59:56Maybe I shouldn't say this. One of my favorite podcasts.
- 59:58This is your. Favorite.
- 1:00:00Oh my God, this is so fun. We need to do a longer one.
- 1:00:03I know because I feel like I didn't even get into half of the
- 1:00:05things I want to talk about with you, I mean.
- 1:00:07We could talk yeah about about music like the whole day, I bet
- 1:00:12'cause you're also like do music.
- 1:00:13So, you know, like a lot of stuff you know learning about
- 1:00:15and. Hearing your perspective and
- 1:00:17like, it's so interesting for me.
- 1:00:19Like I was trying to like during the show I was like, fuck, I
- 1:00:21feel like I'm asking a lot of things that I'm just like
- 1:00:23personally interested in. And I'm like also trying to reel
- 1:00:25it back into like the no, I love that.
- 1:00:27That's great 'cause like, you know, if you're interested,
- 1:00:29probably other people will be too.
- 1:00:30I would hope so 'cause it's all. New like it's all novel and like
- 1:00:33you have such a perspective that no one else has.
- 1:00:35And I wanna it's really cool to be.
- 1:00:36Both. So if you should try and be a
- 1:00:39songwriter too, yes. Well, I do write for other
- 1:00:41artists. I have a cut coming out.
- 1:00:43I love that. I'll play that for you, too.
- 1:00:45It's very powerful. I'm excited.
- 1:00:47Because like, it's my first cut. And then I'm like, I just want
- 1:00:49to see it performed. I want to see it out.
- 1:00:51I want to see my name there on Spotify.
- 1:00:53And then I was just talking to my friends last night.
- 1:00:55I was like, yeah, I I literally just was, I was talking to my
- 1:00:58friends last night and I was like, I'm a great songwriter.
- 1:01:00Should write for other people more.
- 1:01:01Yes, you know what? I.
- 1:01:02Mean. It's like why?
- 1:01:03Not, you know, like kind of yeah.
- 1:01:05I just love being. In a studio, I truly love the
- 1:01:07process. I love the process.
- 1:01:09I genuinely. Love the process from start to
- 1:01:10finish. I love it like I'm excited, you
- 1:01:12know what I mean? I love the sessions.
- 1:01:13After this I'm super. Excited for that same.
- 1:01:15It's like my safe space. I I used to be, I have a lot of
- 1:01:18anxiety and like me too stress. I used to have same stage fright
- 1:01:24and all that, but and then I used to be stressed going to all
- 1:01:26my sessions. Really.
- 1:01:28I would call my manager and say, like, what if I never come up
- 1:01:30with a an idea ever again? I would like have those mini
- 1:01:33panic attack before every session.
- 1:01:34And then I kind of started saying, you know what?
- 1:01:39I'm just meeting my friends and we're like in the studio and
- 1:01:43we're going to have some fun. Write some melodies like.
- 1:01:45Write some lyrics like Take the Pressure.
- 1:01:46Off It's not that deep. It doesn't have to be that.
- 1:01:49Deep. So then I started.
- 1:01:50Becoming so fun and now it's like my safe space.
- 1:01:52Yes, absolutely. I used to be like.
- 1:01:54That too. But now it's.
- 1:01:54It's exactly that when you take the pressure off yourself.
- 1:01:57I go into sessions where I'm like, I have the intention of
- 1:01:58making the best thing I can, and we'll just see what's up.
- 1:02:01Yeah, exactly. It's.
- 1:02:01Better to not put the pressure and like, like, today.
- 1:02:04Today doesn't have to be the Best Song I've ever written.
- 1:02:07It's just what's important to have to be.
- 1:02:10Yeah, you know, because you never know.
- 1:02:11You never know. If you put the pressure, it's
- 1:02:13like, less likely. Yeah.
- 1:02:14That's what makes it. Intimidating.
- 1:02:16Yeah, I still got that. OK, this is super fun.
- 1:02:19We close out every show by manifesting together.
- 1:02:22Is there anything you want to speak into existence right here
- 1:02:24on the Lulu we? Yes.
- 1:02:27Wait, Coachella 2027 Sahara stage?
- 1:02:32Hell yeah, I'm playing very specific.
- 1:02:34OK, I'll go. I'll be shoving people to get
- 1:02:37there. What about you?
- 1:02:40I'd make the best music I could possibly make, is what I want to
- 1:02:43speak into existence right now. I want to work with more people.
- 1:02:45I want to collaborate with more people.
- 1:02:46I want to like, get into more sessions, new producers, new
- 1:02:48songwriters. Like I want to expand my
- 1:02:52horizons with the music and just see what I'm capable of.
- 1:02:56I love that. Yeah, so I'm super.
- 1:02:58Let's do it. Yeah, yay.
- 1:02:59Oh my God, I would love that. I would love that.
- 1:03:01Oh my God. No, seriously, I would.
- 1:03:02Love that I'm excited to hear the.
