- 0:00Speaker 1: Yeah that Uh, Chuck Norris was chasing the Tyrannosaurus Rex.
- 0:05Speaker 1: The rex was not chasing the jeep. Murray Murry, you there.
- 0:10Speaker 1: You love sandwiches. Huh, Let's go to uh eighty. It
- 0:14Speaker 1: was bo wow that Prime time. Maybe I had a
- 0:18Speaker 1: crush on Betty Rubbell. I honestly, until after the segment
- 0:21Speaker 1: ended and we went to commercial break, had no idea
- 0:24Speaker 1: that Jonathan Coachman was black. He caught them the game
- 0:26Speaker 1: last night, although they won the game. You're listening just
- 0:30Speaker 1: to Gotson Company. Well look who it is? Well, well,
- 0:39Speaker 1: such a weird way to start.
- 0:41Speaker 2: I was thinking to myself, is the start of a
- 0:42Speaker 2: sports podcast? This is a Disney movie and I'm playing
- 0:46Speaker 2: the big bed witch.
- 0:47Speaker 1: Oh god it is uh it is? Howk uh? This
- 0:51Speaker 1: ister Gotson Company, brought to you by Fandel and the
- 0:54Speaker 1: Fandels Sportsbook. Uh. How. There are a few things I
- 0:58Speaker 1: want to get into. I want to get into the
- 0:59Speaker 1: World Cup. I want to get into a tweet by
- 1:03Speaker 1: Chris Cody from last night that that's talking about Lebron
- 1:09Speaker 1: James and him making some sort of decision. And I
- 1:12Speaker 1: want to talk to you about summer months and how
- 1:15Speaker 1: as a radio host you treat the summer months, because
- 1:18Speaker 1: I do recall that the summer months is something that
- 1:22Speaker 1: you covet it not because we were taking time off,
- 1:24Speaker 1: because it gave us the ability to kind of spread
- 1:27Speaker 1: out as a show. Is that fair?
- 1:29Speaker 2: You know it used to be even on the show
- 1:33Speaker 2: that I do now with Crowder and Solana, summer months
- 1:37Speaker 2: were so great. I could go back in the archives
- 1:40Speaker 2: and play stuff that I wanted to play that I
- 1:43Speaker 2: hadn't played in a long time. We could do more
- 1:46Speaker 2: lists that were outside of sports hot dogs, best cheeses,
- 1:51Speaker 2: best nuts, whatever it is, and NBA off season and
- 1:58Speaker 2: NFL off season. This year, the World Cup and the
- 2:01Speaker 2: Marlins had been relevant up until the last two series.
- 2:04Speaker 2: Like it's really put a damper in because because summer
- 2:09Speaker 2: had always been an opportunity to travel, that's where you
- 2:12Speaker 2: could take your time off.
- 2:14Speaker 3: Yeah, and also an opportunity.
- 2:16Speaker 2: To revisit stuff that wasn't sports related and have more
- 2:19Speaker 2: fun spread your wings as a show.
- 2:21Speaker 3: Like you said, can't do.
- 2:21Speaker 2: It anymore, especially this summer. And by the way, the
- 2:25Speaker 2: past few summers the Florida Panthers were playing into the
- 2:28Speaker 2: middle of June.
- 2:29Speaker 1: I know, yes, yeah, made it very problematic from a
- 2:34Speaker 1: vacation standpoint, From uh, how do we spread our wings standpoint,
- 2:38Speaker 1: sports has really become I mean, we're in it right now,
- 2:42Speaker 1: but we just got here and it's mid you know,
- 2:45Speaker 1: it's late July, and we just got to like the
- 2:47Speaker 1: you know, the duldrums of summer here where you can
- 2:50Speaker 1: really spread out as a show. There was stuff to
- 2:52Speaker 1: talk about up until now.
- 2:53Speaker 2: It's not even the duldrums because Lebron still has to
- 2:57Speaker 2: make his decision.
- 2:58Speaker 3: Yes, and if the Marlins were to.
- 3:01Speaker 2: Kick it back into gear, at least did have a
- 3:03Speaker 2: little something to talk about.
- 3:05Speaker 3: But yes, yeah, the Lebron thing.
- 3:06Speaker 2: I find it so wild that sixteen years later, you know,
- 3:11Speaker 2: here we are in July of twenty twenty sixty. I'm
- 3:14Speaker 2: just as interested to see where he ends up as
- 3:17Speaker 2: I was every other time.
- 3:19Speaker 1: Yes, we're sixteen years removed, and I'm still hanging on
- 3:24Speaker 1: Lebron's every word because he swings the balance of power
- 3:28Speaker 1: in the NBA. He really does, because he's willing to
- 3:30Speaker 1: play for a league minimum. Now, Chris Cody tweeted out,
- 3:34Speaker 1: and I will say this on the front end, and
- 3:35Speaker 1: I say this lovingly, and I love Chris, but when
- 3:38Speaker 1: I'm thinking about guys, I want to get my basketball
- 3:41Speaker 1: news from. I am going a long way. I'm sprolling
- 3:45Speaker 1: a long list before I arrive at Chris Cody. But
- 3:48Speaker 1: somehow he tweeted out last night that he expects Lebron
- 3:52Speaker 1: to make his decision today this afternoon, and that decision
- 3:57Speaker 1: is going to be the Miami Heat. How about that?
- 4:00Speaker 2: So his tweet last night hearing that Lebron will make
- 4:05Speaker 2: his decision late afternoon tomorrow, which is today to play
- 4:10Speaker 2: in dot dot dot Miami.
- 4:13Speaker 1: Wow.
- 4:15Speaker 2: And then I just saw a tweet from Patrick Beverly,
- 4:19Speaker 2: another insider. Yeah, rumor has it Bron makes his decision
- 4:25Speaker 2: today with eyeballs.
- 4:28Speaker 1: Oh wow. So I told Taylor that he would wait
- 4:32Speaker 1: and see. He likes to have the stage to himself.
- 4:34Speaker 1: I did tell Taylor, and is he and mikey a
- 4:37Speaker 1: Lebron will not make a decision until after the World Cup,
- 4:40Speaker 1: And so here we are.
- 4:42Speaker 3: It makes sense. It makes sense he gave up there
- 4:46Speaker 3: their stage.
- 4:47Speaker 2: He does appreciate other sports and the pageantry of it.
- 4:50Speaker 3: And now you were past the World Cup. It's over.
- 4:55Speaker 3: So today is his if he wants it to be.
- 4:58Speaker 2: Today is Lebron's By the time time people are listening
- 5:01Speaker 2: to this pod, he may already have announced.
- 5:04Speaker 1: Right, So Chris is saying that he's going, He's essentially
- 5:09Speaker 1: saying he's coming to Miami. Pat beav is just giving
- 5:11Speaker 1: you eyeballs right right? Okay? Do you think it's going
- 5:16Speaker 1: to be now? I'm wondering if you know, Dan, Chris.
- 5:19Speaker 1: It was nice of Dan to tell Chris that I
- 5:21Speaker 1: am wondering if there's some sort of trick at play here.
- 5:25Speaker 1: Like you and I. We did this meet you and
- 5:27Speaker 1: Dan with Tiger Woods. We kept promoting Tiger was coming on,
- 5:31Speaker 1: Tiger was coming on, Tiger was coming on. I think
- 5:34Speaker 1: we were at a golf tournament. It ended up being
- 5:36Speaker 1: Tiger Clark who came on, and not Tiger Woods. The audience.
- 5:39Speaker 3: Tiger Clark great. Um, what was he a linebacker?
- 5:43Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 5:44Speaker 2: Tiger Clark was a great guest. I used to have
- 5:46Speaker 2: my my show all the time. He wasn't exactly Tiger Woods.
- 5:50Speaker 2: And we may have misled the public, but Tiger Clark
- 5:52Speaker 2: very good radio guests.
- 5:53Speaker 1: I'm just wondering if there's a different Lebron who might
- 5:56Speaker 1: be making a decision just in Miami. I have no idea.
- 6:00Speaker 3: I don't know what the play would be there. I
- 6:02Speaker 3: don't know.
- 6:03Speaker 2: You know again, Cody doesn't break news, and this doesn't
- 6:06Speaker 2: come from the Slow report, So what is the play?
- 6:10Speaker 2: I think it's Dan. This is my personal opinion. Dan
- 6:13Speaker 2: has infoe. Dan doesn't want to drop drop it himself
- 6:17Speaker 2: because a he doesn't want to be in the news
- 6:19Speaker 2: breaking business anymore. And b if Dan tweeted it out,
- 6:23Speaker 2: everyone knows it's coming from Mickey Harrison.
- 6:28Speaker 1: So I think first tweeted out everyone knows it's coming
- 6:31Speaker 1: from Dan.
- 6:32Speaker 2: I guess, but there's more plausible deniability. I guess, I don't.
- 6:36Speaker 1: I guess he could pivot and say, hey, it came
- 6:38Speaker 1: from my dad if he needed to, not that he
- 6:39Speaker 1: would give up his sources, right, But Greg, also.
- 6:46Speaker 2: They're in New York now by the way, too, Like
- 6:48Speaker 2: what Greg Cody working? Adam Silver forts.
- 6:54Speaker 4: Greg Cody giving up the lebron James scoop to Chris
- 6:57Speaker 4: Cody is the least believable thing in the world.
- 7:00Speaker 1: Why would he do that? It's his son?
- 7:02Speaker 2: Yeah, speaking of sons, support my son's website Horsepumpings dot com.
- 7:06Speaker 2: It's back Levatar Show fans, Do you want to think
- 7:10Speaker 2: about it. You know what, because my son is making
- 7:15Speaker 2: t shirts based on all our old stuff and all
- 7:17Speaker 2: my current stuff, and I'm not taking any money off it,
- 7:19Speaker 2: like I want to see my son succeed.
- 7:22Speaker 3: Maybe Greg Cody did get the scoop of a lifetime
- 7:25Speaker 3: and handed it to his son, Chris.
- 7:28Speaker 1: There's no chance it's possible. Now, there's zero chance. I
- 7:33Speaker 1: don't scoops Cody is not giving up the scoop of
- 7:39Speaker 1: a lifetime.
- 7:40Speaker 2: You don't think he would give it to his son
- 7:43Speaker 2: and say, here you go, my boy, I've done all
- 7:46Speaker 2: I can do here.
- 7:51Speaker 1: It would be the last thing that he do in
- 7:52Speaker 1: his career. Right, That's that's the way to go out.
- 7:54Speaker 1: Give your son you've ever gotten? Right? Yeah? Do you
- 7:59Speaker 1: want Lebron? Yeah?
- 8:01Speaker 3: Yeah, I said this on the radio last week.
- 8:04Speaker 2: I'm excited about Giannis Bam Andrew Wiggins. You can go
- 8:09Speaker 2: down the list, Pela Larson, Davion Mitchell, right and get
- 8:12Speaker 2: to Bobby Portis and Tim Hardaway.
- 8:16Speaker 3: Junior.
- 8:18Speaker 2: Lebron to me, would be the icing on the cake.
- 8:21Speaker 2: I just think it would be great. But what my
- 8:24Speaker 2: point was last week was we're throwing a party, and
- 8:27Speaker 2: this party's happening whether or not Lebron comes, we don't
- 8:32Speaker 2: need Lebron to make the party great. In my opinion,
- 8:35Speaker 2: the heat is a four seed top four seed in
- 8:38Speaker 2: the East as currently constructed. Then you throw Lebron in there, yeah,
- 8:43Speaker 2: and have him healthy for the postseason, all bets are off,
- 8:47Speaker 2: you know.
- 8:47Speaker 3: So I'd love to see him here.
- 8:49Speaker 2: You know, his skills, while are they the same that
- 8:53Speaker 2: they were twenty years ago?
- 8:54Speaker 1: No?
- 8:55Speaker 3: But are they diminished to.
- 8:56Speaker 2: The point where you see when you know, you'd see
- 8:58Speaker 2: em at Smith trying to play running back in Arizona
- 9:01Speaker 2: and you'd go, man, what's that guy doing?
- 9:03Speaker 3: Like he's not even close to that? Right, So I'd
- 9:07Speaker 3: love to see him here.
- 9:08Speaker 2: And then I think, if you got him here, you're
- 9:10Speaker 2: probably going to add a Klay Thompson or DeMar DeRozan,
- 9:13Speaker 2: like you're going to add.
- 9:14Speaker 1: Us start attracting other people.
- 9:15Speaker 2: Yeah, I tell you what, Man, I'd love to have
- 9:18Speaker 2: him here. But like I said to me, this party
- 9:21Speaker 2: revolves around Giannis.
- 9:23Speaker 1: Yeah, they're diminished skills. They're still great by anyone's measure,
- 9:29Speaker 1: but diminished skills that are willing to play on a
- 9:31Speaker 1: league minimum. And that's the big difference, right, I mean,
- 9:33Speaker 1: it's a game changer. That's why he's That's why his
- 9:36Speaker 1: decision is going to impact this season so much. He's
- 9:39Speaker 1: willing to play for nothing.
- 9:41Speaker 2: They're holding up the NBA schedule release until he announces
- 9:45Speaker 2: where he's going because the interest still do that.
- 9:48Speaker 1: He loves that.
- 9:49Speaker 3: He loves that.
- 9:50Speaker 2: He pretends he doesn't, right, but he loves that.
- 9:54Speaker 1: Taylors and Nick Fann, are you concerned at all about
- 9:56Speaker 1: the Heat getting Lebron? In fact, I would tell you
- 9:59Speaker 1: if he's not going to come to Nicks, and he's
- 10:00Speaker 1: probably not, the place I would want him to go
- 10:03Speaker 1: is Miami. I don't want him at Philadelphia. That team
- 10:05Speaker 1: scares me. If he's at Philadelphia, the Heat don't scare
- 10:09Speaker 1: me with Lebron, Jame, they're better, They're not as good
- 10:11Speaker 1: as us.
- 10:12Speaker 3: They should scare you with Gianni's forget about Lebron.
- 10:15Speaker 1: This team.
- 10:16Speaker 2: I'm telling you, first of all, you know how hard
- 10:17Speaker 2: it is to repeat in any sport. If you Knicks
- 10:19Speaker 2: fans think you're gonna coast to another victory, you know
- 10:23Speaker 2: you're crazy and.
- 10:23Speaker 3: You lost the biggest piece of the puzzle. Who's that
- 10:28Speaker 3: Mitchell Robinson?
- 10:32Speaker 1: We did?
- 10:36Speaker 4: There's been so much shuffling in the Eastern Conference where
- 10:39Speaker 4: there's nothing you could really do to scare me. As
- 10:42Speaker 4: a Nick fan, I welcome. I have a ton of
- 10:44Speaker 4: Heat fans in my life. I listen to Hawkman Crowder
- 10:46Speaker 4: in Solana. I'm rooting for their show. If getting Lebron
- 10:49Speaker 4: is the best case scenario for their show, I'm rooting
- 10:52Speaker 4: for it because I think Heat fans really need a
- 10:54Speaker 4: win right now after seeing the Knicks win a title,
- 10:57Speaker 4: So I kind of welcome it and self, I'm close
- 11:00Speaker 4: to Miami, getting to see Lebron in here in Miami
- 11:04Speaker 4: when the Knicks come to town.
- 11:06Speaker 3: That's that's a plus for me.
- 11:07Speaker 2: That no nobody wants your patronizing bullshit, Taylor. If that
- 11:12Speaker 2: best for Hockman Crowder in Salona, in the Miami radio market,
- 11:15Speaker 2: and nobody wants your patronizing bullshit the next listen, we
- 11:19Speaker 2: caught Lightning in a bottle.
- 11:21Speaker 3: They're talented team. I had fun watching them.
- 11:24Speaker 2: I love Jalen Brunson, Love Jalen Brunson. But if you
- 11:28Speaker 2: have aspirations of coasting to back to back titles, I mean,
- 11:33Speaker 2: what are you even doing here? What are you even doing?
- 11:35Speaker 2: Indiana's gonna have Tyree's Halliburton back. Atlanta made a big
- 11:40Speaker 2: trade over the weekend. Like you, there's there's some quality
- 11:44Speaker 2: teams in the East.
- 11:46Speaker 1: Who is the trade? Uh for Atlanta? Who what they
- 11:49Speaker 1: did lou Dort? Is that a big trade?
- 11:52Speaker 5: Though?
- 11:52Speaker 3: I mean, I mean it makes them better?
- 11:55Speaker 1: Rights say?
- 11:57Speaker 2: Who was one of the worst overall in Thenumber one
- 12:00Speaker 2: picks in the recent history of yes of NBA drafts.
- 12:06Speaker 1: Hock. You know what's funny about all this? The Celtics
- 12:08Speaker 1: are still the favorite to come out of the East. Yeah.
- 12:11Speaker 3: I don't get it.
- 12:12Speaker 2: I didn't even like them when the Like, I wasn't
- 12:14Speaker 2: even in love with them when they had Jalen Brown.
- 12:16Speaker 3: I don't know, man, I'm not I'm not a believer
- 12:19Speaker 3: in Boston. Uh.
- 12:21Speaker 1: Like, I'd be afraid if Lebron goes to Philly. But
- 12:23Speaker 1: I guess according to Chris Cody, he's not going to Philly.
- 12:25Speaker 2: So I don't see that happening right. Just too random,
- 12:30Speaker 2: It's it's too random.
- 12:32Speaker 3: Like what are you doing at that stage in your career?
- 12:33Speaker 3: I think it makes sense.
- 12:35Speaker 2: I think he's gonna play two more seasons, so I
- 12:37Speaker 2: think he can easily say I've got some unfinished business
- 12:41Speaker 2: in Miami. Gonna take care of it, and then next
- 12:43Speaker 2: season I'm gonna finish it out in Cleveland where it
- 12:47Speaker 2: all started. And it makes all the sense in the world.
- 12:50Speaker 1: Yeah, I guess it does. I could see it. I
- 12:53Speaker 1: could see him coming here. Riley did say the keys
- 12:57Speaker 1: under the mat, So we'll see if we'll see if
- 13:00Speaker 1: Lebron makes that decision today. Are we you into the
- 13:03Speaker 1: World Cup at all? Huk loved it.
- 13:05Speaker 2: I have never paid more attention to soccer than I
- 13:09Speaker 2: did for the past six weeks.
- 13:11Speaker 3: I was inallied with it.
- 13:13Speaker 1: Yeah wow, even after the US got knocked out. Huh. Yeah.
- 13:16Speaker 2: One of the things that I love about the World Cup,
- 13:19Speaker 2: and I think I wish other tournaments can do it,
- 13:22Speaker 2: They just don't have the money or the timeframe to
- 13:26Speaker 2: do it. World Cup and FIFA can do whatever they
- 13:28Speaker 2: want whenever they want. But one of the things that
- 13:31Speaker 2: I love about it is even in the group stages,
- 13:34Speaker 2: games do not overlap, so every game gets its own spotlight.
- 13:40Speaker 2: If you want to sit down turn the group stage.
- 13:42Speaker 2: I mean, what was better in the middle of the
- 13:44Speaker 2: summer having a soccer match with real stakes starting at
- 13:49Speaker 2: noon and then at three and then it's six and
- 13:53Speaker 2: then at nine, and it wasn't like you know, March Madness,
- 13:56Speaker 2: where you got six games going on at once and
- 13:58Speaker 2: I'm turning on True TV and then I'm flipping over
- 14:02Speaker 2: to Hidelphia Cable because the one cable system doesn't have it,
- 14:06Speaker 2: and then I gotta find a streaming service.
- 14:08Speaker 3: And you know, it's like for the World Cup. You
- 14:10Speaker 3: can watch each match on.
- 14:12Speaker 2: Its own, beginning to end, which gives you an opportunity
- 14:16Speaker 2: to learn about that team and decide if you're rooting
- 14:18Speaker 2: for that team or you find something appealing about that team.
- 14:21Speaker 3: I just thought the tournament itself was great. The fact
- 14:23Speaker 3: that US was relevant for a part of it that
- 14:27Speaker 3: made it a lot more fun.
- 14:28Speaker 2: And really the fact that the big stars delivered. You
- 14:33Speaker 2: wanted to see action goals from Mbope and Erling, Holland
- 14:40Speaker 2: and Messy and MESSI.
- 14:41Speaker 1: Yeah, like you.
- 14:42Speaker 3: Wanted to see the big stars performing. They all did.
- 14:45Speaker 1: Yeah. Soccer from this from from you made some great
- 14:49Speaker 1: points there, Like from this standpoint, it's organized. You know
- 14:52Speaker 1: where the games are, you know what time they're starting,
- 14:55Speaker 1: and you know you're investing two hours in a soccer
- 14:58Speaker 1: game and you're done, and that's it like it from
- 15:00Speaker 1: that standpoint, Yes.
- 15:01Speaker 2: It's pleasure, right, and like even when it goes to
- 15:04Speaker 2: extra time whatever, so you got another thirty minutes. But
- 15:06Speaker 2: like it's so finite, you know what I mean, even
- 15:09Speaker 2: like if you watch Premier League, like it's just so finite.
- 15:12Speaker 2: It's gonna start at nine am and you're gonna be
- 15:15Speaker 2: done at eleven am and we all get on with
- 15:17Speaker 2: our lives.
- 15:18Speaker 1: Yes, did you feel bad for Messi?
- 15:23Speaker 2: I mean, it's such a great tournament. He was pretty
- 15:25Speaker 2: useless yesterday. He didn't do he was terribly choked. I mean,
- 15:29Speaker 2: I mean, I I mean, I have a tough time
- 15:32Speaker 2: saying he choked because Spain was so good. But I mean,
- 15:36Speaker 2: Messi had a great tournament. Would would this is probably
- 15:38Speaker 2: his last World Cup? Would he have loved to have
- 15:40Speaker 2: gone out with back to back World Cups?
- 15:43Speaker 3: Yeah? But he's got something.
- 15:45Speaker 2: More important than that, And that's the MLS title from
- 15:49Speaker 2: last season?
- 15:56Speaker 1: Is that right? That is right? That means boy to him,
- 16:02Speaker 1: the winning back to back World Cups.
- 16:04Speaker 2: Huh, But it was like passing the torch, right because
- 16:07Speaker 2: who's the uh, who's the young kid, the nineteen year
- 16:10Speaker 2: old Dane.
- 16:11Speaker 3: Yeah, Lemina mall. It's kind of like passing of the torch.
- 16:15Speaker 1: Right, Yeah. Is that the kid he touched when he
- 16:17Speaker 1: was a baby phrasing Yeah, yeah, he baptized him, right,
- 16:22Speaker 1: he did.
- 16:22Speaker 2: He uh he he washed all his superpowers into him.
- 16:28Speaker 1: So that was a win win for MESSI yesterday, right,
- 16:31Speaker 1: because if he doesn't win, he could say, hey, I
- 16:32Speaker 1: put my hands on that kid and look what he
- 16:34Speaker 1: turned into.
- 16:37Speaker 3: Yeah, it might have been roody for into the World Cup.
- 16:40Speaker 1: Now. Well, I was into yesterday's game. I was in it,
- 16:44Speaker 1: you know. I was into it when the United States.
- 16:46Speaker 1: I don't love soccer. I don't love soccer because they
- 16:50Speaker 1: call it the beautiful game, and the beautiful moments are
- 16:53Speaker 1: far and few between. I mean, there's too much acting,
- 16:57Speaker 1: too much diving, too much complaining, too much reference Shenana games.
- 17:01Speaker 3: I don't trust a lot of it.
- 17:03Speaker 1: Just something feels off about But I did enjoy it
- 17:06Speaker 1: while the United States was in it. I did not
- 17:09Speaker 1: watch it again. With the United States got bounced out,
- 17:12Speaker 1: I did not watch again until yesterday. I watched yesterday.
- 17:15Speaker 3: Saturday's third place match.
- 17:16Speaker 2: Was one of the most entertaining sporting events I've ever
- 17:19Speaker 2: watched in my light.
- 17:20Speaker 3: Yeah, but it was for third place. I mean, I know,
- 17:23Speaker 3: but so what I mean, right.
- 17:24Speaker 2: That's one of the things that I think we American fans, like,
- 17:27Speaker 2: you know, they get into friendlies, they get into mid
- 17:30Speaker 2: season tournaments that may not have the stakes that you know,
- 17:34Speaker 2: weeks like I mean, look at the way that we
- 17:36Speaker 2: treat the NBA regular season.
- 17:38Speaker 3: We'll go that it doesn't matter.
- 17:40Speaker 2: Eighty two games, we go, it doesn't matter, and that,
- 17:43Speaker 2: like the soccer mentality is not that. So even the
- 17:46Speaker 2: third place game, like when you have the nation's colors
- 17:49Speaker 2: on the line, it was just fun as hell, you know.
- 17:51Speaker 1: I also don't like the fact that, no, it was fun,
- 17:54Speaker 1: don't get me wrong, and it came during a great
- 17:56Speaker 1: time because it was during the summer months and you
- 17:58Speaker 1: need you kind of need it. For what I don't
- 18:03Speaker 1: like about soccer is Spain was clearly the better team yesterday,
- 18:09Speaker 1: like start to finish, better team, and a team like
- 18:14Speaker 1: Argentina can force you in to a you know, to
- 18:18Speaker 1: a shootout pks, which is not representative of what soccer
- 18:22Speaker 1: actually is. But if they play defense well enough, they
- 18:26Speaker 1: can get Spain and force Spain into a game that's
- 18:29Speaker 1: not actually soccer, and that's what they tried to do,
- 18:31Speaker 1: and they almost pulled it off yesterday.
- 18:33Speaker 3: That was their ultimate goal. I was watching the game
- 18:35Speaker 3: with my wife, was trying to get there. Yes, she says.
- 18:37Speaker 2: At some point she's like, Argentina's got to try to score,
- 18:41Speaker 2: and I said, no, they don't. They really just want
- 18:44Speaker 2: to get to pks, Like they can't risk trying to
- 18:49Speaker 2: score because it's going to open it up going the
- 18:51Speaker 2: other way.
- 18:51Speaker 3: I'm like, they literally are playing.
- 18:54Speaker 2: Ninety minutes and then hoping to get through another thirty
- 18:58Speaker 2: minutes without anyone's and once they get to pks, like
- 19:02Speaker 2: you said, it's then it's a luck contest. I mean,
- 19:04Speaker 2: there's more than luck, but there's there's.
- 19:06Speaker 3: More context contest than skill.
- 19:10Speaker 1: They have MESSI and the way their goalie was playing.
- 19:12Speaker 1: I'm not certain Argentina would have pulled it off. I
- 19:14Speaker 1: mean I think they probably would have.
- 19:15Speaker 4: So Hawk My biggest takeaway from the World Cup Final,
- 19:19Speaker 4: the halftime show should have just been a Shakira concert.
- 19:23Speaker 2: Well, I'll give you my my bullet points if you want.
- 19:27Speaker 2: I thought Shakira stole the show without correct without question,
- 19:34Speaker 2: and that's the anthem like, and that's what everybody wants
- 19:38Speaker 2: to see, and so they did. They did a service
- 19:41Speaker 2: at least by having her close it out. Essentially, the
- 19:44Speaker 2: Muppets were a close second. The Muppets were fantastic.
- 19:49Speaker 3: Right, that was a surprise.
- 19:51Speaker 2: I didn't know the Muppets were performing, and they did
- 19:54Speaker 2: fight at an army Right, and then.
- 20:00Speaker 3: Madonna. I don't know how old is she. She's in
- 20:03Speaker 3: her sixties. Yeah, she has to be.
- 20:07Speaker 2: I have reached my saturation point with Madonna. She's one
- 20:15Speaker 2: of the greatest entertainers of our time, there is no question.
- 20:20Speaker 3: And I don't know what I'm doing.
- 20:22Speaker 2: I don't know if I'm being misogynistic because I don't
- 20:24Speaker 2: mind male rockers who are doing their thing into the
- 20:28Speaker 2: seventies and eighties, rolling Stones. Mick Jagger's out there at
- 20:31Speaker 2: eighty three, and I'm like, oh, good for him. Something
- 20:35Speaker 2: about Madonna annoys me, and she annoyed me yesterday.
- 20:41Speaker 3: I liked it was an upbeat vibe and I like that.
- 20:45Speaker 2: But she annoyed me. There's something about her that annoys me.
- 20:47Speaker 2: You know what really annoys me. She speaks with a
- 20:49Speaker 2: British accent and she's from.
- 20:51Speaker 1: I hate those people.
- 20:52Speaker 2: Yeah, she's from Detroit, Like I know that she's lived
- 20:55Speaker 2: in London for a while now, but come on, like,
- 20:58Speaker 2: what are you doing?
- 20:58Speaker 3: You're from Detroit.
- 21:01Speaker 1: Yes, but one of your best friends, fake Howard walks
- 21:04Speaker 1: into an Italian restaurant and suddenly he's Italian.
- 21:07Speaker 3: That is true, but that's a bit.
- 21:09Speaker 2: He's not doing a bit like she wants us to
- 21:12Speaker 2: believe she's British Royalty.
- 21:15Speaker 3: Justin Bieber, talented kid, brought it down.
- 21:19Speaker 1: Yeah, the slowest.
- 21:20Speaker 4: He picked the slowest song possible.
- 21:22Speaker 3: What are you doing? Hey? We know you want it.
- 21:25Speaker 3: This is like the old I Got youa? Hey, I
- 21:27Speaker 3: got youa. You want to be treated like an artist,
- 21:31Speaker 3: not a pop star.
- 21:32Speaker 1: I got youa.
- 21:33Speaker 2: Maybe do it at another spot other than the halftime
- 21:36Speaker 2: show with the World Cup that's feeling like the biggest
- 21:39Speaker 2: party on the planet. Hey, maybe pick another time to
- 21:43Speaker 2: do an acoustic fucking set with songs that no one
- 21:47Speaker 2: cares about.
- 21:49Speaker 3: I do something where you end up jumping around, jump
- 21:52Speaker 3: up and down.
- 21:53Speaker 2: Bieber, he a fucking acoustic set on a guitar in
- 21:58Speaker 2: the middle of the World Cup halftime show.
- 22:00Speaker 3: What are we doing here? Yeah?
- 22:01Speaker 1: Do me a favor. I'm totally with you. Do me
- 22:03Speaker 1: a favor. It's a celebration. I don't need Justin Bieber
- 22:07Speaker 1: to be an artist. I need Justin Bieber to be
- 22:09Speaker 1: Justin Bieber.
- 22:10Speaker 3: I mean, right, be an artist.
- 22:11Speaker 2: Tomorrow, show up for a surprise concert at the Stone
- 22:16Speaker 2: Pony and be an artist.
- 22:18Speaker 3: Do a slow acoustic set for the Bieber the Believers.
- 22:23Speaker 2: I'm watching the World Cup. Madonna's giving it her all
- 22:27Speaker 2: as much as she annoys me. She's in her sixties,
- 22:29Speaker 2: she's giving.
- 22:29Speaker 3: It her all.
- 22:30Speaker 2: She's driving around on a golf cart. Who knows what's
- 22:33Speaker 2: going on. The muppets are out there, the puppeteers, They're
- 22:36Speaker 2: working their hands like crazy. Muppets are moving all over
- 22:39Speaker 2: the place, Animals banging on the drums like it was
- 22:42Speaker 2: forty years ago. Guy hasn't lost a beat. He got
- 22:46Speaker 2: Shakira out there and burn a Boy, and they're fucking
- 22:50Speaker 2: rocking it. All of a sudden, I got in the
- 22:54Speaker 2: middle of it. Justin Bieber has got to show me
- 22:58Speaker 2: that what he's the next Peter Paul and Mary?
- 23:01Speaker 5: What are we doing here, Peter Paul and Mary? I
- 23:11Speaker 5: swear I'm certain he's not trying to prove that anyone
- 23:15Speaker 5: that he's the next Peter Paulin Mary.
- 23:18Speaker 3: What's he doing? I'm out here.
- 23:21Speaker 2: He's doing like a woodstock. He's Joni Mitchell. All of
- 23:25Speaker 2: a sudden, Hey, I'm at a giant party.
- 23:30Speaker 1: Like what.
- 23:31Speaker 3: There's always some guy like that at the party, right.
- 23:34Speaker 3: The party's just like going crazy and the music and
- 23:37Speaker 3: there's people jumping in the pool, and there's like the.
- 23:39Speaker 2: One guy's like, hey, let me talk to you for
- 23:41Speaker 2: a second, and he pulls you over and it's like, hey,
- 23:45Speaker 2: you know Freddy, Yeah, pancreatic cancer.
- 23:49Speaker 3: What we're at a party?
- 23:53Speaker 2: Like, tell me about Freddy tomorrow. Say hey, I got
- 23:55Speaker 2: to meet you at the Deli tomorrow. I got something
- 23:57Speaker 2: to share with you. He's jumping around, the girls are
- 24:02Speaker 2: jumping into the pool, the DJ is killing it or whatever. Hey,
- 24:07Speaker 2: come over here, I gotta I gotta tell you something.
- 24:10Speaker 2: Freddy's probably got three or four months left. Pankra had
- 24:12Speaker 2: a cancer.
- 24:14Speaker 3: And that's what Justin Bieber did with his musical performance.
- 24:20Speaker 1: He announced he had three or four months ago.
- 24:23Speaker 2: Like whatever, if you like, like, if you don't have
- 24:26Speaker 2: an upbeat song that fits, like just do the Lee Greenwood, God,
- 24:31Speaker 2: Bless the USA, do something. Let us sing along, do
- 24:36Speaker 2: the country Roads, country roads, take me home.
- 24:41Speaker 3: We love that. At soccer stadiums, do that, like, what
- 24:45Speaker 3: the fuck are you doing? Bieber
