- 2:15I do, he'll be dead and it'll be your fault. Oh a feline
- 2:17friend of mine. Oh what? Being uncout like you, you'll probably call
- 2:22him a cat. Oh no, look, Joe, Diane, he's rich.
- 2:27He's one rich. You say last week he had sixty thousand dollars.
- 2:31This week, somebody's making sure he won't live wrong enough to spend it.
- 2:44Bob Bailey and the Exciting Adventures of the Man with the Action Packed Expense Account
- 2:49America's fabulous freelance insurance investigator That's truly Johnny Dollar expense account submitted by special Investigator
- 3:10Johnny Dollar to the Continental Assurance Company Reno, Nevada. The following is an
- 3:15account of expenses incurred during my investigation of the Felicity feline matter expense account at
- 3:25a one one and sixty four dollars air transportation hard for do Reno. I'm
- 3:30rude. I wondered again what Judiah Gillis was doing in Nevada and Reno.
- 3:37He was on the flight deck waiting for my plane and standing beside him wearing
- 3:39a dark suit and expression the match was a tall, cadaverous looking gentleman.
- 3:44As I started down the ramp, Jediah began calling, Yeah, dollar you
- 3:51j oh, afternoon today? Where you are all right? Boy? Yes
- 3:55you are Johnny. This is my friend and business is Henry Parker. Oh,
- 4:00I'm certainly glad you've arrived, sir. That's all. Yes, mister
- 4:03Gillis has been quite concerned over Felicity, Felicity the feline. What do you
- 4:09think you came out here for your health? Well? No, yeah,
- 4:12man, you Parker your checks, my checks? So what's the matter with
- 4:15you the altitude to pet your mind? Hand over your claim checks? So
- 4:17Parker and petch your luggage. Oh sure, here go on, Parker,
- 4:23go on. We haven't got on to whatever you say, mister Gillis.
- 4:26We will be in the waiting room. You hurry up? Yes, come
- 4:29on, Jadaya. Before I left hart But I tried to check up on
- 4:33this Continental Assurance company. Nobody ever heard of it. A lot of things
- 4:38those white bellied cloaks in Hertford haven't heard. But the fact is Continental ain't
- 4:42exactly worldwide. Oh no, sir, it ain't nationwide. Well just how
- 4:48wide is it? But do you know how hard he is from one of
- 4:51my cuts? Who black butte it? No good? It's just about that
- 4:55way. Oh and Parker is one of the Ragings agents. Parker is the
- 5:00president of the Continental, the president, but huge. I mean, whether
- 5:05you look peaked, boy, you better sit Jodiah. I shouldn't let the
- 5:12man that's paying my salary run after my bag. Pace tesh. Here,
- 5:15take a look at this. It's my new business card. Yeah, go
- 5:20on read it. Uh. Jodiah gillis chairman of the board Continental What yes,
- 5:27sir, but Boyds of England has always carried your policy carriage. Yes,
- 5:31past tense. I don't take gup from anybody, especially a niny of
- 5:35an insurance agent telling me what I can insure in what I can You had
- 5:40a fight with him, yep, My cousin Rachel. She's a sweet girl.
- 5:45She lives in the Belgian Congo. She sent me an African ant heita.
- 5:48Now, all I wanted Floyd's to do wasn't sure for fifteen thousand dollars,
- 5:53And of course they wouldn't. Nope, So you cancel all your policies
- 5:56and bought the controlling interest in Continental, same as anybody else would have done.
- 6:00All sure, sure, and naturally you ensured this head eating Archie that
- 6:05was his name? Was his name? What happened to him? It was
- 6:09a terrible thing. Jane ol was just poor Archie. He overen do over.
- 6:14He did want that he over, He found a house full of termoils.
- 6:17Oh yes, it's finally died and shoot indigestion. Too bad. But
- 6:21of course Continental Assurance paid off, because they paid off and with a smile,
- 6:28same as they paid off for sixty thousand dollars to my feeline friend Felicity.
- 6:31What sixty thousand to Felicity? What do you think the sixty thousand Felicity
- 6:36inherited from Missus hammer Mier. And who is missus was? Was? What?
- 6:41All right? Was Missus Hamil the client of Henry Parker's had a life
- 6:45policy for sixty thousand. Felicity was the beneficiary, but didn't she have any
- 6:49children or relatives. She had one brother, a nephew, and a niece,
- 6:54of course, not counting Missus Hawkins, who was Missus Hammermeyer's best friend.
- 7:00You see, the two ladies live together fifteen years and right now Missus
- 7:03Hawkins has been appointed trustee who administer the sixty grand as Felicity needs. I
- 7:10see you meet here as soon as we get settled. Judiah, what makes
- 7:14you think someone's trying to kill that? I don't think so. I know
- 7:16it. I've been two attempts in two weeks. You ask Missus Hawkins,
- 7:20she was mister dolla. Ah, It's about time packed, cord johnnick Man.
- 7:26We'll take you down to the Mapes. The Mapes the Mapes Hotel.
- 7:30I'm staying there, and if it's good enough for me, it's good enough
- 7:32for you. The Mape's Hotel stands high above Virginia Street, overlooking the Truckey
- 7:40River. After Gillis checked me in and introduced me to the owner, mister
- 7:43Childs Mapes, I unpacked and went with Judiah out of the old Hamilmeer place
- 7:46where Felicity the cat, Missus Hawkins, and the relatives still live. We
- 7:53rang the old fashioned door bell and waited. In a moment, the door
- 7:56was opened by a pasty faced man of about twenty eight. Yeah, oh,
- 8:01mister gillis, Yes, afternoon, Oscar Missus Hawkins in, ain't she
- 8:05always? Who's he is a friend of mine who's also an insurance investigator and
- 8:11names Johnny Dollard, Johnny. This is Oscar Emmett, the late Missus hammer
- 8:16Myers nephew. I am. I suppose you hear about that lousy cat.
- 8:20That's right? Uh, come on in, I'll tell the old lady here.
- 8:26You know where the living room is, that, don't you? Indeed?
- 8:28I do? Oh. Friendly is like the rest of the Emmetts.
- 8:33They just can't stand seeing Felicity eat steak when they got to have tuna cast
- 8:39role in here? That all right? Well, what kind of work does
- 8:41he do? We're Oscar. None of the Emmetts worked, not even Missus
- 8:46hammil Myer's brother, Emmet Emmett spends all his time in the gambling halls.
- 8:50You know, gambling is legal here. He a professional. Oh no,
- 8:54no, he's got a slot machine route He moves around poking his finger in
- 8:58the payoff trays, picking up the nickels and dimes, and people overlook it's
- 9:03dowity. That cat has claws. Oh yes, step on his tail,
- 9:11your stupids tell you sorry, well I didn't know. Sorry for all the
- 9:18bats mansesn't see you. Go on, you get right down off that piter.
- 9:22You hear me? H oh, mister Gillis, would you use your
- 9:31influence please try missus Uggins Felicity, Come on, Ny, that's a good
- 9:46now. I just put out a nice dish of scallops for him. Oh
- 9:50you hear ethnicity scallops? Oh yum yum yere. So you run along o
- 10:00you declare, I've never seen a man who has such a way with animals.
- 10:03Well, and that goes but lonely widows two. Mister gillis leone.
- 10:13J oh yeah, missus Hockey, Leona is Justine. This is the young
- 10:20fellow I was telling you about Johnny Dollar. Oh oh well, this is
- 10:24indeed a pleasure. Mister Dolla told me so much about you that you're much
- 10:31more handsome than I imagine. Mister good Grave with Leona, you just tell
- 10:35him what's been going on around here? You mean about Felicity. That's what
- 10:37it means. Well, somebody's after him, trying to kill him. Tell
- 10:41me has an actual attempt and made on his life. Wednesday night, a
- 10:45week ago, I let him out just before I went to bed, like
- 10:48all h he been out about an hour when it started. The poor and
- 10:52knowing Felicity hates to get wet ouse in the front door to call him.
- 10:56Well, just as he was Croston Street, I heard this big car start
- 11:00up and it looms straight for Felicity. Whoever was driving it almost turned over
- 11:05trying to hit here. He didn't get a good look at the driver.
- 11:07I didn't get any kind of a look with two dollars? What about the
- 11:09car? What make was it? If I knew that, I'd have already
- 11:13told you I haven't any secrets from him. Last Thursday he was poisoned.
- 11:26That's what that said. Somebody put arsenic in his lobster. Lobster, Oh,
- 11:31yes, he just loves it. According to the instruction missus Hamilmyer left,
- 11:37he used to have lobster once a week, stake three times, and
- 11:39boiled chicken every Sunday. Yeah, and as long as I take care of
- 11:43and obey her instructions. I could live here rent free, stamens her kidney.
- 11:46Emmetts Uh huh. Mister gillis just who gets Felicity's money in case he
- 11:52dies? Emett family, we aren't shure. Oh why is that? Because
- 11:58missus hammer Mask left the seal in the loope to be opened only in the
- 12:01event of Felicity's death. Damn still get all it's left, mister Dollar.
- 12:05I'm sure. Oh no, no, no, no, you must look
- 12:09on the dark side. Well, I did rob Mildred's missus hamil Myer's back
- 12:13and bunions for a good many years, did her marketing, so she got
- 12:18her medicine on time. I do hope she appreciated she did. She did
- 12:24leon on you see you, dear everybody in the living room. I figure
- 12:31they start flocking in at the time. Dollar. Yeah, it's Joyce,
- 12:35Emmett Denie. She hates cats, told me so herself. Do I have
- 12:41time to take a shower before dinner? Oh? I didn't know he had
- 12:43come, mister Joyce, you both know mister gillis Yes, I am mister
- 12:48Gill terrible And this is mister Johnny Doller. He's investigating the trouble we've had
- 12:52about Felicity after the would be cat killer Johnny, that's right. If I
- 12:58you never catch him or her, could be a woman, you know,
- 13:01Oh yes, yes, it most certainly could. Joyce. The way you
- 13:07say that, you act as if you want mister Dollar to start investigating you.
- 13:09Maybe I too. How about it, Johnny, Well how do you
- 13:13feel about Felicity missus name as everyone else in this house? I know that
- 13:18I had no business leaving all our money to that, that creeping night crawler.
- 13:24Well he is, mister Dollar. Just what interest do you have in
- 13:26Felicity? He is an insured mister Gillis sent for me. Mister Emmond,
- 13:30he did, Yes, I did. Continental has a moral responsibility to see
- 13:35that the funds handed over to widows, children and dumb animals are protected from
- 13:39swindlers, canivers and regards of which I'm sure this house has many. Why
- 13:45you pompous, wrinkled all room all Joyce, if you can't hold your tongue
- 13:48and leave the room, Well what I said is the truth. Man,
- 13:52his age getting romantic, you are thirty years from now you'll be mighty grabbed
- 13:56me and my age ken gets romantic. That's tell ceremedy, curremedy. Do
- 14:03you share your daughter's opinion on Felicity, Well, of course I do.
- 14:07I'm a dog man. Besides, I can't see why she left all that
- 14:09money to the critter. Missus Hawfin just figured out what a cost to keep
- 14:13him like a king every week. Yes, yes, twenty three dollars,
- 14:18maybe a trifle more by the time I get him out of the pretty kitty,
- 14:22the pretty kitty with the beauty parlor. The cat Felicity had a standing
- 14:26appointment there every Friday at once. Oh, no, twenty three dollars a
- 14:30week. You know how many weeks it'll take him to spend that sixty thousand?
- 14:33Not call me interests of the LAUP while he's doing it. No,
- 14:35not exactly twenty six hundred weeks. Fifty years, believe me the odds.
- 14:41And any cat living to be fifty years old, who will? I'll let
- 14:43you at ten to one, he doesn't live another six months. Joy,
- 14:48speak of the devil. Well, hello to Felicity. Oh did you know
- 14:52we were talking about you? You pitied up all your dinner. Felicity needs
- 14:56some time and doesn't need all his collars. Last week I gave them to
- 15:00Oscar. Oh, it's disgusting. Well look at him. He thinks he
- 15:05owns us. What do you mean? Thinks? A few minutes later,
- 15:13Jodiah drove me back to the Mapes. Whether was the ems or Missus Hawkins
- 15:16who wanted Felicity out of the way? I didn't know, but I didn't
- 15:20know. We should get him out of that house as soon as possible.
- 15:24I changed my clothes, met Jo Diana's friend Charlie Mabeson, the skyrim for
- 15:26Denna, did a bit of gambling, then went to bed. Must have
- 15:30been about three point thirty when the phone ranging Hello, Hell, not a
- 15:39pa, answer me? Who is Missus Hawkins? I tried to get mister
- 15:43Gillis, but he left where he wasn't to be disturbed. Oh, well,
- 15:46what is it, Missus Hawkins? What's wrong? Oh it's terrible.
- 15:50Oh it's just terrible. What what is it? What's happened Felicity? He?
- 15:56Oh, he Felicity? What I let him out about Tim? But
- 16:00she has disappeared? Did not I know? He's been killed? Act two
- 16:22of yours, truly Johnny Dollar in a moment. Anyone who has survived the
- 16:27rigors of basic training is familiar with a great variety of milk that is dished
- 16:33out periodically in the Armed forces. Let's frozen milk, concentrated milk, frozen
- 16:38concentrate, and good old powdered milk, but sometimes supplying wholesome, fresh real
- 16:47milk has been a problem when servicemen have been stationed in out of the way
- 16:52places. The United States Air Force came across that problem some time ago in
- 16:56the island of Tesyra in the Azores, those Portuguese islands that got an eastern
- 17:02portion of the Atlantic Ocean. The air base there was considered powdered milk country
- 17:07for a long time. Although cattle have played an important role in the economy
- 17:14of the island of Taesya, the herd was badly in bread and milk production
- 17:18was very low. Modern milk processing was not a part of the picture,
- 17:25and with the help of Portuguese veterinarians, the men in the United States Air
- 17:29Force unit worked out a free breeding service by using a small herd of milk
- 17:34cows acquired in England, and the cattle there at Teessa improved. Then a
- 17:41complete pasteurizing, homogenizing, sterilizing, bottling refrigeration plant was flown in from the
- 17:48United States. As soon as this activity got underway, milk production began to
- 17:55climb steadily, and thirsty air force men and civilians were soon buying and drinking
- 18:00the new fresh milk. When economy of the island began to rise rapidly,
- 18:06the people were happy and grateful, you might say, the little milk of
- 18:11human kindness increased understanding on an island of freedom, the right of all men
- 18:18everywhere, no act too of yours, truly, Johnny Dollar and the Felicity
- 18:25feline matter. A few minutes later, Jediah Gillis and I were at the
- 18:34old Hamilmeyer home. Joyce and her father, along with Missus Hawkins were waiting
- 18:38for us. Oscar Emmett was nowhere to be found. He's the one,
- 18:41Johnny here said that shifty critics, that Oscar. He's toole Felicity and he's
- 18:47going to dream in that pool. For heaven's sake, mister Gillis, pull
- 18:52yourself together. Ostra could be downtown having a run a up. Mister Dolly
- 18:56Well of his his gambling. This time of night, he shouldn't be too
- 18:57hard to find. Missus Hawkins. Yes, when did you first realize Felicity
- 19:00was missing. Why about an hour ago? I guess it was I won't
- 19:04come and remember he was still outside. So I came down and called him.
- 19:08Always before, ever since he was a little kitten, he's come back
- 19:11home for me. But tonight, well he's just nowhere to be found.
- 19:17Time did you let him out? About ten thirty sametimes? I always do?
- 19:22Were you at home? And Joyce? Now she wasn't. I had
- 19:25a real good day yesterday, collected almost four dollars. So I took it
- 19:27to a movie. A movie that's a likely story I've ever heard. It
- 19:32happens to be the truth, mister Gillis, what do you see come on
- 19:33coming? It was an old one about a giant gorilla. That's right,
- 19:37I'll bet I'll bet Joda Juda if anything has happened poor Felicity were well,
- 19:48how much time will we be given before we have to move out of this
- 19:52house? With that such of the court. But I see a couple of
- 19:55weeks, that's all? Oh, when it's holy deserve all except you,
- 20:02my dear Well, Johnny, you've been unusually quired. What do you think
- 20:07I think we'll take in the light spots? Should I see how our luck's
- 20:11running. We started at the Mapes and went down Virginia Street, stopping in
- 20:18at every gambly casiito, hoping we'd find oscar Emine. Finally we found them
- 20:22at one of the Roulette Whels and Harrow's Club, and front of him was
- 20:26a large stack of chips if you bet, ladies and government. But there's
- 20:30a couple of seats around here Jones. Oh thanks, we'll just watch our
- 20:33friend and a very lucky friend. He is too, with these on thirty
- 20:37two and these on asking well, what are you two doing here? We've
- 20:45been looking for you, that's what for? You know? What for you?
- 20:48Cat Knapper? What'd you do with Felicity? Cat? You know any
- 20:53other Felicity? You know? Good lif all bits of don't wait a minute,
- 20:59I wanted these tips on thirteen black All right, Oh that's the down
- 21:02what now see what you do? Maybe do event thirteen hits, Well what
- 21:08do you want to see me about? We told you Felicity? Now where
- 21:11he is? How would I know? Where have you been since ten thirty
- 21:15this evening? All around town? How long have you been here? Long
- 21:18enough? Look out home fifteen and I don't you'll see what you two pounds
- 21:26cost me take my mind off what I'm doing. I'll get out of my
- 21:30way. I'm cashing and you're not doing nothing To the answer questions, mister
- 21:33oscar, am it you hear me? Oh? Yeah, oh hey,
- 21:37yes, an I should I? Are you all right? Yes, there's
- 21:42your fine body. God, you'd make a right I'm mistericulous. I'm I'm
- 21:47sorry. I didn't really mean to hitch you. Yes, her, come
- 21:51here, let me help you up. Are you sure you all right?
- 21:55Should that? Yes? If I could just sit here and I'll be fine?
- 21:59Okay, k, folks is all over, Let's get back to ow
- 22:02business. Oh, I want to come over here a second dollar? If
- 22:06you say something that crazy old fool. I didn't really mean to hit him
- 22:11so hard, but he you know how it is. Sometimes that was the
- 22:15best run of look I had this year. Well, I don't worry about
- 22:18your diet. He sometimes forguess he's not as young as he used to be.
- 22:22You can say that again, by the way, he's been letting that
- 22:25missus Hawkins make a fool of him. What do you mean, Oh,
- 22:29you know, telling him how much she's in love with him, how nice
- 22:33it'll be after they're married. You know you heard her say this. Sure,
- 22:38you see my rooms on the first boart, just off the parlor,
- 22:41and I can't help but here what's going on? Uh huh? Well,
- 22:45what makes you think Missus Hawkins isn't sincere Because she's been given the same mind
- 22:49of mister remit the money. She's she really loves him. Oh yes,
- 22:55sir, Sometimes he argues with it and she breaks out crying. Now that's
- 23:00something no woman like her could fake. Yeah, maybe you're right. I
- 23:11didn't tell Jodiah what I've learned from Oscar, at least not then. The
- 23:15wind had already been taken out of his sales. So I took him back
- 23:18to the Mapes. I made sure he was johning to be all right.
- 23:21Then I returned to the old Hamilmeyer house. Joyce, mister remen of Missus
- 23:25Hawkins. We're out in the yard hunting for Felicity. Hi, Johnny Woll,
- 23:30Hi, so we've got some coffee in size. You're interested coffee?
- 23:33Sure? But have you found any sign of Felicity? Not yet. When
- 23:37he's talking, she's about go out of her mind. Did you find Oscar
- 23:41last night? Yeah? Yeah, he's been having a session downtown at a
- 23:45rulette table. That's what I thought, Johnny. What will happen if we
- 23:52don't find Felsen. I mean, if he's just run away, we won't
- 23:55be able to prove he's dead, and the money, Well, what will
- 24:00happened? You know? Well, I imagine there'll be a waiting period and
- 24:03then the court will declare Felicity dead and the money will go wherever missus Hamillmeyer
- 24:07has wildered. Oh, I sure wish I knew what's in the envelope.
- 24:11Mister Gillis has locked in his office. Is dead here, Johnny. He
- 24:18found something in the garage. The garage just about twenty five yards from where
- 24:25we've been standing. We made it nothing flatten inside, dred the back and
- 24:29on the ground was a small hatchet and the other hatchet with some blood and
- 24:33cat. Oh Johnny, Oh no, oh, the poor poor thing.
- 24:41Well it looks like he met his end here and then whoever did it carted
- 24:45him away. Yeah, looks that way, Johnnie, Take me out of
- 24:51here. So shamed. And you know, I hated that cat. I
- 24:56really wanted him dead, but not like this. Oh hey, hey,
- 25:00hey, come on now, silly, I'm using it. No, I
- 25:04don't think it is, yes, ma'am. Will you be kind enough to
- 25:08know the time and to give us Oh i'm ot say that I just couldn't
- 25:12speak about it over the telephone. Of course, I'll be glad to.
- 25:19I drove to Diana's car back to the hotel. I made sure he was
- 25:23feeling better than told him what we found in the garage. Naturally, he
- 25:27wanted to call out the police reserves, when I managed to talk him out
- 25:30of it. At ten o'clock, I made some telephone calls to the local
- 25:33banks. When I got the information I've been after Jadiah, and I again
- 25:38drove out to the ham of my house. Well I expected you two gentlemen
- 25:47a couple of hours ago. Sorry, missus Hawkins, I had some things
- 25:51to take care of. Oh, well, come in. What's the matter
- 25:55with your dad? Gillis? You've been fighting? Who I have? Women?
- 26:00Who I have feet? Darling? And your age? Seems like I
- 26:04have a lot of crazy fool things my age? Now, just what do
- 26:07you mean by that? You know very well was pulling the rul of my
- 26:11eyes. Let me think that I found a true sweetheart at last. Oh,
- 26:15you you miserable Jezebel, mister dollar whatever is he talking about? How
- 26:23about you and mister Emmitt and how you planned to use Jodia's friendship to get
- 26:27you out of trouble in case your little scheme failed. Well I still don't
- 26:32understand. No, Well, suppose I tell you that you did away with
- 26:34felicity yourself. Why are you You can't prove that. I will need to
- 26:41Jodiah's having a copy made of all your bank deposits since the time you moved
- 26:44in with missus Hamilmayer fifteen years ago and started taking care of her by paying
- 26:48her bills, ordering her food and medicine, and pocketing a good share of
- 26:52the money for yourself. Well, why shouldn't I have She didn't give me
- 26:55one seven I know, and your bank balance shows you have forty seven dollars
- 27:00on deposit. All right, all right, but I'll be it back.
- 27:04You'll see. Oh, they won't be able to do a thing to me.
- 27:07No, sir, Mildred Hammermeyer appreciated me, even if nobody else did
- 27:11or does. You will see my name will be in that envelope. She
- 27:15wants at bleed to have that money all the time. I know she did.
- 27:19Ready to read the will, joy she and your father sit over there
- 27:25wherever you see me? Okay, should I am over the world? Sure,
- 27:30But if it does give the money to missus hammer Meyer should spin in
- 27:36her grave. If it does, read it. If you're there, you
- 27:40you old, don't you? Miserable female woman? He is luisas now he
- 27:48codistle to the last Will and Testament of Milder Emmett. How am I witness
- 27:52spaces a lot of legal gab A give me I the money's unspent after the
- 28:00death of the cat known as Felicity, shall mister Gills no time for laughing
- 28:10Gill? Yes, oh God, I read this thing again. The money's
- 28:19unspent shall then go through the descendants of the original air. Yes, the
- 28:29original air is Felicity. Now the money goes to his descendants. And being
- 28:36as he was a tomcat who loved to go prowling at night, did you
- 28:41ever have descendants hundredth of the We'll say what happened later, proof once and
- 28:51for all the miracles can happen. At one o'clock on Friday afternoon, we
- 28:56had a phone call from a pretty kitty beauty shop. A large tom with
- 29:00a bad cut on the back of his neck had shown up for his usual
- 29:03shampoo and manicure. Maybe they do have nine lives expense account total including hotel
- 29:10bill, incidentals and transportation back to heart fridg four hundred and seven dollars and
- 29:14twenty cents. Yours truly, Johnny Dollar, No, you're a dour star.
- 29:30They tell you about next week's story. Next week an actor who talked
- 29:34nothing but Shakespeare and who talked himself into his grave. Join us, won't
- 29:40you? Yours truly Johnny Dollar? Welcome back. Well, once again we
- 29:51see Jack Johnstone's preference for recurring themes and settings. Jediah Gillis means another bizarre
- 30:02animal case and we find him having bought his own insurance company to underwrite all
- 30:07of his various fancy animal purchases, which is a nice touch. This guy
- 30:14is definitely and eccentric, and so this character is Taylor made for Howard McNear
- 30:21to play and a fun break for Johnny, though not much of a break
- 30:26given that last week's was also somewhat of a lighter episode. It also wasn't
- 30:32so light at the end with what appeared to happen with the cat, and
- 30:36you have to wonder whether the note that the cat was okay, which was
- 30:42extremely unlikely was added afterwards or at the insistence of someone in the network,
- 30:51as I wasn't too happy when I heard of the description of the acts and
- 30:56the kittifer, the acts and the kittifer, I was like, Oh,
- 31:00that doesn't sound good at all, But the cat lives so good for that
- 31:03and the contents of the codicil at the end. I just had to laugh
- 31:08at that. And that does call into that question that whole being of a
- 31:15sound mind thing when it comes to prepairing a state documents, because you know,
- 31:18whoever takes care of that cat has to hope that the cat lives a
- 31:23really long time until all the money spend, because that would be a mast
- 31:30to sort out. As Johnny said, hundreds of potential airs. So then
- 31:34again, does a cat have airs for the purpose of making a will?
- 31:40Oh, the fun legal questions that get raised on this series at any rate.
- 31:44We turn to some listener comments and feedback, and we start with one
- 31:49regarding the Harley Baron Matter episode thirteen eighty seven. Bobby Lay says, this
- 31:57is one of my new favorite episod. So it's because I love the cloak
- 32:00and dagger aspect of the Department of Defense Contractors slash Government World thrown in there.
- 32:10Well, thanks Bob, and I appreciate the feedback, and I definitely
- 32:14do appreciate when detective shows are able to work in a little bit of espionage
- 32:22and mystery mixed together. I'm looking forward personally to the man called X great
- 32:32series. I listened to a little bit of the shows that I'm hoping to
- 32:37do one day, just as long as I'm not within a year of actually
- 32:44getting into the series, and it was just listening to some man called Act
- 32:49good stuff. The one thing I've noticed is the Ken Thurston's cover is blown
- 32:54all the time in that show. In the CBS version, it seems a
- 32:59favor a recurring theme to have a character announced that they know Thurston is the
- 33:04man called acts, so not much of a secret agent. I don't think
- 33:08this is the last time, though the Parley Baron matter that Johnny Dowler will
- 33:14interact with the Cold War. So we'll see what else is ahead. Now
- 33:17onto some comments regarding the new microphone. Charlene says, sometimes you are so
- 33:22funny. I love to laugh, and when you ask for feedback on the
- 33:27new mic, I certainly did laugh. The mic is good, but I
- 33:30hope you never have any real feedback on it, as that is painful to
- 33:34the years involved in the meantime laughing out loud, et cetera. Thanks for
- 33:40that. Well, thanks so much, Charlene. It was not intentional,
- 33:46but now that you mentioned it does sound kind of funny. Lisa comments your
- 33:54Logitech microphone is great and was on to say also, I've been listening and
- 34:01supporting you for a while. This week I discontinued my pay TV and only
- 34:07get over the air intern of TV, old Time radio and public TV.
- 34:12British mysteries are my favorite entertainment. Love your show. Listen to it every
- 34:15night after I go to bed. Also listen to it when walking outdoors.
- 34:21I don't miss pay TV. Thanks and keep up the good work from Lisa.
- 34:25Well, thanks so much. Lisa, appreciate your comment and I hear
- 34:29you regarding pay TV. A lot of folks use it, but there are
- 34:32also I think, particularly since digital television in many areas a lot more over
- 34:38the air channels, a lot of people can get me TV or RTV stations
- 34:45that have a lot of older programs on it for free. But glad to
- 34:52be able to provide you entertainment as you go. Appreciate your comment, Lisa.
- 34:57All right, well, we will be back tomorrow with Dragnet, and
- 35:00next Friday it's another episode of Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar. In the meantime,
