- 0:08as Says and Master Coach Jenny Fontana, founders of the

- 0:18dive episodes is geared to help you tackle the things
- 0:21that hold you back from having the most magnificent life
- 0:24you deserved. Sit back, relax, and prepare to be coached.
- 0:32Speaker 2: Welcome done Pause your Life guys with doctor Calli Estis
- 0:35and my guest today is Miss Francois coming from Trinidad
- 0:39and Tobago and her specialty is working specifically with relationships,
- 0:45not getting you a man or finding you a man,
- 0:47but how to keep your man. So, without further ado,
- 0:51I'd like to welcome you to Unpause your Life. Tell
- 0:53us a little bit about you and how you got
- 0:55into that Hi.
- 0:58Speaker 3: So, as she said, my name is miss for just
- 1:00make sure you are spelled that correctly, it's MSS, which
- 1:03stands for multi Talented and super Sexy. I am originally
- 1:08from trinindand Tobago, hence my beautiful accent and how I
- 1:11got into some of the stuff that I'm doing. So basically, honestly,
- 1:15I had a lot of bad relationships.
- 1:17Speaker 4: I'm gonna be honest, they suck, right.
- 1:19Speaker 3: So after a while I found myself going into relationships
- 1:22and relationship and I wasn't healing. So I was bringing
- 1:25my baggages, my purse, doubble bags, everything to the new
- 1:28relationships and I realize, you I needed to pause. So
- 1:33I have a TV show called The misfrans Word Show,
- 1:35which uses humor to help others with their dysfunctional relationships.
- 1:40Speaker 4: And that's all of us.
- 1:41Speaker 3: All our relationship is dysfunctional in some way, shape or form,
- 1:45So I basically am responsible for I have this group
- 1:49called the Striving Goddesses where I help other women exploring
- 1:53new relationships or healing from broken relationships, help them to
- 1:57rediscover their self identity and confidently transition to the next
- 2:02chapter of their life. So that's basically what I do.
- 2:05Speaker 2: In a nutshell, that's awesome, that's much needed, because I
- 2:08think there's a lot of people out there in the
- 2:10dating side of things, help you find a man, help
- 2:13you find a relationship, but very few people actually working
- 2:17with the issues within a relationship, not necessarily therapy, But
- 2:22what do you do when this arises or what do
- 2:24you do when that arises? And nobody's using humor, which
- 2:27is awesome, So make me.
- 2:30Speaker 3: The special.
- 2:33Speaker 4: So that's the thing that I'm found. Like I said,
- 2:34it's a lot of life experiences.
- 2:35Speaker 3: Because sometime people like to tell you how to do
- 2:37stuff and they have not even had any of these experiences.
- 2:40It's really nice to write a book, but it's good
- 2:43when you have people in a circle, people you talk
- 2:45to and you yourself experiences and things. So even with
- 2:48my show, when I first started my show, it was
- 2:51I never thought of other people. It was me trying
- 2:53to heal at the same time. So I realized instead
- 2:56of me eating away my problems crying all the days abating,
- 3:01I started to look at different things that happen and
- 3:03some of them actually was kind of funny. And many
- 3:05of us look back at relationships and we find the
- 3:08simplest thing funny, like oh my god, he wasntven that cute?
- 3:10Speaker 4: Why was I stressing? Right?
- 3:12Speaker 3: But when it was in the moment, he was all
- 3:14love with w Right. So with my show, I have
- 3:17like different experts that come on. I could be coaches,
- 3:20it could be regular people just talking about what they experience.
- 3:23Speaker 4: Some one of my favorite set.
- 3:25Speaker 3: Of episode is when I have multiple people, like three
- 3:28different men or women and we're asking them what do
- 3:30they think men want? From different perspectives. But it's fun.
- 3:34I make it fun. And again having human anything, it
- 3:39produces like indoorphins.
- 3:40Speaker 4: It's it's like a painkiller. It's producing.
- 3:45Speaker 3: You could connect more people, listen, more people see more.
- 3:48It's so much things that come with laughter that people
- 3:51are not realizing. So I find that's the best way
- 3:53to transfer some information.
- 3:56Speaker 2: It also takes your defenses down. When you come in
- 3:59with humor, it's like break the ice and you feel
- 4:01more comfortable talking about hot button topics or getting to
- 4:05the cause of something when you feel comfortable. And if
- 4:08you come in and you don't feel comfortable, you don't
- 4:11want to talk about it, and they say, how do
- 4:12you feel?
- 4:12Speaker 4: I feel fine.
- 4:13Speaker 2: But if you break the ice and it's fun and
- 4:15it's funny, it's I don't feel fine. Here's what's going on? Right,
- 4:19And it's so.
- 4:20Speaker 3: Much easy having some fun conversations, you know, and mixing
- 4:24it up a bit.
- 4:24Speaker 4: You know that all the time you want to sit
- 4:26there and be like, well he did this.
- 4:27Speaker 3: And I always tell people one day talking the issues
- 4:30or relationship with your friends. If you know this, you
- 4:32keep you keep telling like ten different people the same
- 4:35issues and you're not even healing from it. And then
- 4:38you have the friends that's receiving the information, just adding
- 4:42feel to the fire, you know, and that's not what
- 4:44it's cute in the beginning. But six, seven, eight, ten
- 4:48months through, two years later you're like, and he did
- 4:50me this? And I feel like people are not focusing
- 4:53on the healing process.
- 4:54Speaker 4: They're just they can't be angry.
- 4:56Speaker 3: I've known people who've been married for how many years
- 4:58and they're like, well, when you was, does he cheated
- 5:01on me?
- 5:01Speaker 4: Then it's like, what.
- 5:04Speaker 2: Yep, it's funny because I lost my husband two years ago.
- 5:08He passed away, and I started dating and I have
- 5:11a bad habit of picking the red flag guys. So
- 5:13my friend, it was a psychologist, set me this box
- 5:16and it was twenty red flags, and I was traveling
- 5:19all around the country and she said, every time you
- 5:21see a hot guy, just hold up the red flag.
- 5:24So I started videoing myself and here I am and
- 5:27I'm sending it to her and she says, girl, they
- 5:30all look the same. I said, what do you mean.
- 5:32She goes, they're all tattooed, they're all convicted bellans.
- 5:35Speaker 4: You have a type.
- 5:36Speaker 2: I went, oh, I do have a type. And she
- 5:39goes and they're all red flags. And it took her
- 5:42to see that because I was like, I don't see that,
- 5:44you know, And I would get into these relationships and go,
- 5:47what's wrong with me?
- 5:48Speaker 4: Though? I love that? Yeah, So it was Bunny, that's
- 5:53how do the red flag?
- 5:54Speaker 3: I realized, we know we have that feeling in there
- 5:56right second brain tells us, Yet we make up these
- 6:02whole excuses, well you know, he's a little different, and
- 6:05maybe this and maybe that, until you know we're in there,
- 6:08and then it takes longer to even walk away.
- 6:11Speaker 4: Oh yeah, but that's absolutely really awesome.
- 6:14Speaker 2: I was standing on the pier. I don't know if
- 6:17you know California, but I'm on the pier in Manhattan
- 6:19Beach and I'm looking around. I'm like, wow, there's a
- 6:21lot of nice, good looking men, and I'm thinking, okay,
- 6:25I'm gonna do the flag thing. So I did the
- 6:27flag thing, and I'm sending him to her. She's got no, no, no,
- 6:30maybe no. I'm like all those nose and she goes
- 6:34to all the time.
- 6:36Speaker 5: But we do that a type like we all have
- 6:38and I tell it, it's okay to have a type,
- 6:40but it's also okay to maybe not always date your time,
- 6:43or at least be open enough, you know, have a conversation,
- 6:47have coffee, have tea, have a light drink.
- 6:50Speaker 3: Keeping But everyone is like, oh, that's not my type. Yeah,
- 6:54but maybe you could be missing your blessing looking.
- 6:56Speaker 4: For your type. Who's a convicted felon. Right, that's true.
- 7:01Speaker 2: So give my listeners one piece of advice. If they're
- 7:06in a relationship and they're struggling to communicate with their partner,
- 7:10what can they do better? What can they do different?
- 7:13Speaker 3: Okay, well, I would say I'm I'm not a relationship
- 7:17coach because I would say I just did with healing.
- 7:19But overall, when it comes to any type of relationship,
- 7:23is the number one thing that I think people mess
- 7:26up a lot is the listening part. Right, A lot
- 7:29of times we don't listen. We're ready to defend, we're
- 7:33ready to solve the issue. No one is listening to
- 7:36exactly what you're saying. And if someone listens, one of
- 7:39the best ways to know that you yourself is listening.
- 7:42Repeat what the person is saying in a form of clarifying.
- 7:47So you're saying you feel this way because when this
- 7:50happens also, and that's the person who is listening. Also,
- 7:54when you are talking to someone, you shouldn't. When we
- 7:57tend to talk to people, we talk as we immediately
- 8:01blaming the person. I think you should speak more in
- 8:04a reference of what you experience. Now you make me
- 8:08feel and this is your fault, moby like, when this happens,
- 8:13my experience is a B and C instead of you
- 8:16always leave this here and because of you, I'm angry.
- 8:19It's it's we always have a conversation like we're in
- 8:24a fight, and we shouldn't be fighting. We should be
- 8:27listening and listening to understand, listening to clarify before we
- 8:31go to the next level and try to solve the issue.
- 8:35Speaker 2: Awesome, that's great advice because a lot of people we
- 8:37don't listen to hear. We listen to respond, so we
- 8:41already have an answer before we hear the question, and
- 8:44then the person doesn't feel heard a lot of times.
- 8:47Speaker 4: Right, and then it just you know, everything just goes
- 8:50down from there.
- 8:52Speaker 3: Yep.
- 8:53Speaker 4: I know, I'm pretty smart.
- 8:55Speaker 1: You are.
- 8:56Speaker 2: This is awesome. It's so interesting because I think so
- 9:01many people go to therapy to fix themselves. And therapy
- 9:04isn't fun. I've been a therapist for thirty three years.
- 9:07It's not fun. It's dirty and it's crying, and then
- 9:10they leave and they're not happy, and they come back
- 9:12and it's still not happy. But using humor and to
- 9:16get to some of these things, it makes life so
- 9:18much simpler and so much more fun. So give me
- 9:22an example of the best client or who is your
- 9:26ideal client to work with?
- 9:28Speaker 3: Okay, So first of all women, because I like to
- 9:32make sure I'm in my niche of things right, and
- 9:36so this is my thing.
- 9:36Speaker 4: So I don't work with couples.
- 9:37Speaker 3: I normally do one on women, and I have to
- 9:39do with women because I say, at the end of
- 9:42the day, instead of we always blaming the other parties,
- 9:45certain things, we need to take responsibil ability for because
- 9:48at the end of the day, it's always two people
- 9:50in the situation, right. So my person is definitely ideally
- 9:55a female. And I woke with people anyway from like
- 9:58twenty five into their forties. The relationship time. By the
- 10:01time you and you're late for these you're kind of.
- 10:03Speaker 4: Slowing down a lot.
- 10:05Speaker 3: So those are the people I tend to work for,
- 10:07and my ideal client is someone honestly just come. This
- 10:12is the people that are, like too many people I
- 10:14work with, this people healing. But at the same time,
- 10:16the ones that are ready or feel that they're ready
- 10:19to go out dating.
- 10:20Speaker 4: They all they'd.
- 10:21Speaker 3: Already healed, but they're excited about the new challenges and
- 10:24new adventure. And I think even with that excitement, I
- 10:27kind of have to reel them back in because you
- 10:29really have to access up.
- 10:31Speaker 4: Are you seriously ready?
- 10:32Speaker 3: It sounds really nice getting free food and dinners and
- 10:36flowers really cute.
- 10:38Speaker 4: Are you really ready? And why are you? Do you
- 10:41think you're ready? So I even have something where I
- 10:43call are you ready to date?
- 10:44Speaker 3: Which is like ten intro suspected questions to like access
- 10:48out because sometimes even if why are you ready to date?
- 10:51Speaker 4: What are you dating for? Is it for a companionship?
- 10:53Speaker 3: Maybe you're just honey, I don't know, but it's like
- 10:56finding out the real reason behind whatever you're doing.
- 10:58Speaker 4: So when you're going.
- 10:59Speaker 3: You'll even find those red flags even faster because if
- 11:03he said, oh, I'm ready for a good time, and
- 11:05you're like, no, I'm ready for something I committed relationship,
- 11:08don't stay in yes, and what I'm gonna wear him down.
- 11:11Speaker 4: Maybe once he discover how amazing I am, he going
- 11:13to be ready to.
- 11:14Speaker 3: So just knowing yourself, I'm figuring out you ready today.
- 11:19Speaker 2: Awesome, That's great, And I think that's needed because I
- 11:24was just thinking back to when I was dating. I
- 11:26wasn't getting the flowers and the free dinners. I was
- 11:28getting the guys who were like, well, I don't don't
- 11:31have my wallet. I had that. I had the let's
- 11:35do cocaine in the bathroom, and I'm like, you're fifty
- 11:38four years old. I am not doing cocaine with you
- 11:40in the bathroom. Like you know what I do for living.
- 11:42I'm an addictions coach, for God's sake.
- 11:44Speaker 4: I was yet, No, I don't know in the bathroom.
- 11:46I do it in the house, in the living room.
- 11:51Speaker 2: I have two friends that are single and they are
- 11:54just like, it's like a war zone out there, and
- 11:58I'm going to send them both to you because I
- 12:00don't think they're clear on what they're looking for. So
- 12:03they're just accepting every guy that comes by. Okay, I'll
- 12:06go with that. When I'll go with it, I see.
- 12:08Speaker 3: That's the thing, and that's the thing technically from what
- 12:11I hear, and not ready to date, because sometimes when
- 12:14you start a date or that desperation or loneliness, that's
- 12:16the worst because you're taking any and anything that's very
- 12:20and a lot of people because I'm myself is single.
- 12:24Right for a majority that was on purpose, because again
- 12:28I needed some time to re evaluate certain things.
- 12:30Speaker 4: Right.
- 12:31Speaker 3: But what I do realize, and I realize this is
- 12:33with people that I attract, we are who we attract.
- 12:36Speaker 4: You exude certain things. I believe it's just putting yourself.
- 12:40Speaker 3: If you love doing certain things, put yourself in those
- 12:42places and just continue just being you. Because I have
- 12:45been attracting guys, and each guy I meet, I'm glad.
- 12:49Speaker 4: To say has been better than the next.
- 12:51Speaker 3: So I can't wait to see if it's Trevor Noah
- 12:54I'm going to be with, because that's my ideal. But
- 13:01I'm a lot more open even doing all these things
- 13:04that I do now, it's even much more even healing
- 13:07for me and even brings me more clarity in some
- 13:10of the stuff that I want for myself. And I said,
- 13:13like even talking to people I can relate because I'm
- 13:16in I am single at this present time, so I
- 13:21know what I'm looking for as soon as he don't
- 13:23even have to put I don't even have to see
- 13:24the whole reflag.
- 13:25Speaker 4: I just had to see the stem, and I'm running.
- 13:29Speaker 3: Be like maybe I think No, even on data and apps,
- 13:33people say exactly what it is they want, we just
- 13:36don't listen.
- 13:37Speaker 2: Yeah, that's true. That is one hundred percent true. And
- 13:41then we even overlook certain things they may lie about
- 13:44their age or the kids they have or the job
- 13:46they have, like, oh, what's not that big of a deeo.
- 13:49And then we get down that rabbit hole, you know,
- 13:51five months, six months, it's like, oh, wait, this is
- 13:53a big deal because this was on my list of
- 13:55what I wanted, but the person didn't show up and
- 13:58I just overlooked it and figured it out.
- 13:59Speaker 4: To'll figure it out.
- 14:00Speaker 2: Well, they didn't figure it out, and now in a situation,
- 14:03so that makes a lot of sense.
- 14:05Speaker 3: And even with that, what I do notice, you know,
- 14:08you're getting older, And I like to mix age and
- 14:11experience because sometimes I have this thing.
- 14:13Speaker 4: They say age is just a number.
- 14:15Speaker 3: I say it's not just a number, because it hopefully
- 14:19when we learn certain things, we do better with new
- 14:23things that we learn some people do, right, but as
- 14:26you get older, so she would men. Men most of
- 14:28the time, I already know what they want. There's no confusion.
- 14:31Speaker 4: Women still an know be emotional. I don't know. Oh
- 14:34my god, whatever.
- 14:36Speaker 3: Oh I see the picket fence and you know the
- 14:37guy for like twenty four hours.
- 14:39Speaker 4: Right, But.
- 14:42Speaker 3: It is we still have that that little Dolly house
- 14:46kind of thing. So my thing is if mentally, you know, okay,
- 14:50I'm definitely gonna hit this on, sleep with this and
- 14:53oh sometimes this, Oh this is somebody I could take
- 14:55home to my parents.
- 14:56Speaker 4: They know.
- 14:57Speaker 3: So it's to me a lot of times it's a
- 14:59woman need to be able to say and walk away
- 15:02when it's necessary because the man they know.
- 15:05Speaker 4: So women you need to know.
- 15:07Speaker 2: Yeah that's true. Well we are out of time, but
- 15:12thank you for coming on and tell my listeners how
- 15:14they can find you and get in touch for your
- 15:17services or see your show. How do they reach you?
- 15:21Speaker 4: So I make things very easy for you. Guys.
- 15:23Speaker 3: You can just go to my website that's MSS Francois.
