- 0:01Speaker 1: Some of the content of Patriots Unfiltered may not be
- 0:04Speaker 1: suitable for all audiences. Listener discretion is advised. The World's
- 0:15Speaker 1: Welcome to Patriot's Unfiltered. After an extensive interview process, I
- 0:21Speaker 1: decided to stay with what do you do? Right? What
- 0:24Speaker 1: do you do? And not a girl? What do you do?
- 0:27Speaker 1: He reported. I think it was him that Bill had
- 0:29Speaker 1: signed off on it as well. Everyone's just where I'm
- 0:34Speaker 1: at with with the draft now that I'm starting to
- 0:36Speaker 1: really get into it as I'm ready to be heard again, Deuce,
- 0:39Speaker 1: I had an air mattress in my office and I
- 0:41Speaker 1: just got blow it out. The world's first air mattress. Wow,
- 0:47Speaker 1: abas actually made out of straw. Why do you chime
- 0:51Speaker 1: in as if you're younger than it's a guy who
- 0:53Speaker 1: hasn't walked straight in like twenty years. Okay, let's go Lumberjack.
- 1:00Speaker 1: Let's on strike. You got the flannel come off season two?
- 1:02Speaker 1: Right now? What the suction pump things? The penis sump pump?
- 1:08Speaker 1: You know what I tell you? Baby, that's mine. I
- 1:13Speaker 1: wonder what you guys think about TB twelve coming back. Yeah,
- 1:17Speaker 1: over my dead body. This is Patriot's Unfiltered. Fueled by
- 1:21Speaker 1: Duncan Gooden tog live from Gillette's Stadium. Patriots are going
- 1:29Speaker 1: to Germany. That's the announced. I'm not sure that's okay.
- 1:33Speaker 1: What's wrong with that? It's very deep in the show.
- 1:34Speaker 1: No one'll find it. Yeah, I didn't realize Mike was
- 1:38Speaker 1: the star of the Tuesday show. A couple under my
- 1:41Speaker 1: breath confidence ye landed. Well, welcome the Patriots unfiltered. We
- 1:45Speaker 1: are live from Gillette Stadium. It's Thursday, and uh, big
- 1:50Speaker 1: news this morning, broke um. Patriots are one of the
- 1:54Speaker 1: two teams that will be playing in Germany two games.
- 1:58Speaker 1: They've only announced the two host teams, the Patriots in
- 2:02Speaker 1: the Kansas City Chiefs. Date and location is still yet
- 2:05Speaker 1: to be announced, but we know for a fact that
- 2:08Speaker 1: the Patriots will have one of their nine home games
- 2:12Speaker 1: in Germany in twenty twenty three. But not because I
- 2:15Speaker 1: was a little confused, and maybe just to clarify for
- 2:17Speaker 1: anybody that that Kansas City is the other home team
- 2:19Speaker 1: in Germany. They're not playing the Kansas City that it's
- 2:22Speaker 1: still probably expected. And I heard one of Paul's people,
- 2:25Speaker 1: Courtney Cox, say they're gonna be playing in Berlin. No,
- 2:29Speaker 1: that's not even in the conversation. You got to talk
- 2:31Speaker 1: to her like, come on, I don't know how that
- 2:33Speaker 1: ended up being one of my that's not even on
- 2:35Speaker 1: my station. I can tell people like, you know, it's
- 2:38Speaker 1: either going to be Munich or Frankfurt. It's definitely not
- 2:41Speaker 1: going to be Berlin. That they're not even in the conversation.
- 2:44Speaker 1: So I don't know where she got that, but it's
- 2:46Speaker 1: not going He'll be nice. It's probably the only so
- 2:52Speaker 1: but we do know for a fact that the Patriots
- 2:54Speaker 1: will be playing in I guess it wasn't going to
- 2:56Speaker 1: be nice. Yeah, uh, and so that's exciting. You know,
- 2:59Speaker 1: pay for many years have been producing content for German fans.
- 3:04Speaker 1: Of course, you know, with Sebastian Volmer, it was a
- 3:06Speaker 1: no brainer, and so this is kind of the payoff,
- 3:10Speaker 1: getting to actually play a game there in front of
- 3:13Speaker 1: hopefully mostly Patriots fans. It'll be great. Get your tickets. Yeah,
- 3:17Speaker 1: it's gonna be high demand. Yeah, I know that. You
- 3:19Speaker 1: can go to Patriots dot com and I believe it's
- 3:21Speaker 1: slash Patriots Deutschelen and you can sign up on that
- 3:26Speaker 1: page to be in the newsletter and that way you'll
- 3:28Speaker 1: get first information about how to get tickets. So, Freddie,
- 3:32Speaker 1: you were in Germany this past fall, Yeah, right, yes,
- 3:36Speaker 1: in Munich. Okay, Now did you actually stay for the game?
- 3:40Speaker 1: I forget I did. Okay, So what were your observations
- 3:42Speaker 1: of the crowd in terms of rooting interest. Yeah, so,
- 3:47Speaker 1: you know, I made the comparison between the German fans
- 3:50Speaker 1: that I saw and you know, the two times we
- 3:52Speaker 1: went to London, and I felt that overall the fan
- 3:56Speaker 1: base was more knowledgeable. Like in London they cheered more
- 4:00Speaker 1: for extra points and field goals and touchdowns. It seemed
- 4:03Speaker 1: you know, and uh, and you know, there wasn't a
- 4:06Speaker 1: lot of reaction to penalties for example, in German like
- 4:10Speaker 1: the reaction was right, it was right at the right time.
- 4:13Speaker 1: So it seemed like there was more of a knowledge
- 4:15Speaker 1: of the rules. Yeah, and so a more knowledgeable crowd.
- 4:19Speaker 1: But in terms of rooting interest, it was Seattle in Tampa.
- 4:24Speaker 1: So Tampa was the Tampa was the host team. But
- 4:27Speaker 1: I okay, so that's what I was wondering. Seattle travel
- 4:31Speaker 1: very well for that game. Again in London, I think
- 4:34Speaker 1: the Patriots had a distinct edge in the crowd. Yeah, yeah,
- 4:38Speaker 1: I thought it was pretty much fifty fifty. I mean,
- 4:40Speaker 1: did it feel specific teams are? It just feel like
- 4:42Speaker 1: we're very happy when you look at that cheer. Just
- 4:45Speaker 1: the Jersey count it was just as much, you know,
- 4:47Speaker 1: the green and the fluorescent green and and then the
- 4:51Speaker 1: Tampa colors. Yeah, you know, Fred forgot what the colors worse.
- 4:55Speaker 1: It's like, I don't know what you would call their blue.
- 4:58Speaker 1: It's Tampa. No, it's Tampa colors. But uh yeah, yeah,
- 5:05Speaker 1: I'm lost now. Oh Tampa is Pewter and whatever. Peter um. Yeah,
- 5:11Speaker 1: so you know it's it's a good fit now that said, um.
- 5:16Speaker 1: Whenever these games happen in London or going in Germany,
- 5:20Speaker 1: it's fans from all over Europe. Yeah, you know come
- 5:22Speaker 1: because you know, Germany as a as a size is
- 5:27Speaker 1: like a little bit smaller that a little bit bigger
- 5:31Speaker 1: than New Mexico and a little bit smaller than Wyoming. Wow,
- 5:34Speaker 1: that's the whole country. That's crazy, you know. So Europe
- 5:37Speaker 1: is smaller than the United States. So it's not a
- 5:39Speaker 1: big deal for someone in France to go to Germany.
- 5:42Speaker 1: You know, I'm already hearing from from listener Tom Sean Millers.
- 5:45Speaker 1: He was talking like to go so he's UK guy. Yeah,
- 5:48Speaker 1: it seems like it'll touch point get everybody there. Yeah,
- 5:50Speaker 1: i mean, obviously tickets aren't on sale yet, but I'm
- 5:52Speaker 1: sure you know when they do go on sale. What
- 5:55Speaker 1: kind of events did they did the NFL do events?
- 5:57Speaker 1: Did the teams do events there? Yeah? We we had
- 6:00Speaker 1: our own pub. All the home market teams had their pubs.
- 6:03Speaker 1: So the four of us had pubs and they were
- 6:07Speaker 1: packed every night. And we'll do the same thing. Might think.
- 6:10Speaker 1: I'm thinking that because of the time difference, it's perfect
- 6:15Speaker 1: for us to do our show while we're there. We'll
- 6:18Speaker 1: have a pub and we'll do it live at the
- 6:21Speaker 1: pub at six pm. It'll be noontime here. It'd be perfect.
- 6:25Speaker 1: I'm not wearing leader hos and I'm just putting that
- 6:27Speaker 1: out there. You might have to, I don't know all
- 6:29Speaker 1: Actually in Frankfurt they don't wear leader hosen. No, that's
- 6:32Speaker 1: more the Bavarian Southern Germans, so Munich. What would I
- 6:36Speaker 1: be wearing then, short? Yeah, no, No, it's time to
- 6:43Speaker 1: stra leader hosen isn't big, that's not Frankfort. I'm gonna
- 6:48Speaker 1: start getting right with all this stuff. I don't want
- 6:50Speaker 1: to go in there like a you know, a double American. Yeah,
- 6:52Speaker 1: we won't be Nubs. We'll have Fred to teach us.
- 6:57Speaker 1: Of course, I plan on sitting down with you and
- 7:00Speaker 1: I having a whole lesson before we I've never been
- 7:02Speaker 1: to Europe. This is my first time, or will be
- 7:04Speaker 1: if you have a passport. Well, so that's the second
- 7:07Speaker 1: thing I thought of this morning. I haven't traveled out
- 7:09Speaker 1: of the country since COVID, so my passport's expired. So
- 7:12Speaker 1: I have to go get a passport too. Yeah, it's
- 7:15Speaker 1: not that long a process. Yeah, you do it all now,
- 7:17Speaker 1: now we do it. We'll get it. You can go
- 7:19Speaker 1: to the post office here in Foxboro to the Yeah.
- 7:21Speaker 1: I didn't have to go anywhere. I just send in
- 7:22Speaker 1: my old one. I never had one. Did you have
- 7:24Speaker 1: to send in your old book? Yeah, the old book
- 7:27Speaker 1: with the application and all that stuff. Yeah. I think
- 7:30Speaker 1: that's what I need to do. Yeah. The rest of
- 7:31Speaker 1: the family's got to do it the old fashioned way. Yeah.
- 7:35Speaker 1: So yeah, just going to the Bahamas. He needs to
- 7:36Speaker 1: get that done. I know that. When we went to
- 7:39Speaker 1: London last time, the team actually did that for all
- 7:42Speaker 1: the players because they just can't trust all the players
- 7:44Speaker 1: to get that done. Oh my gosh. Yeah, so they
- 7:47Speaker 1: threw us into the can't trust no, but I would,
- 7:51Speaker 1: I would. I would get that done now. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 7:54Speaker 1: I don't even have to expedite it, So jump on it.
- 7:56Speaker 1: It's on my list. I'm doing it. We have an
- 7:58Speaker 1: appointment to go and do it for the kids. Good
- 8:01Speaker 1: February fourth, All right, we're ready, Bahamas NASA. I don't
- 8:05Speaker 1: know exactly are you're going away? I'm not he is
- 8:07Speaker 1: Will Will's pone. Thanks for listening. Um. So that Yeah,
- 8:11Speaker 1: that's excite. That's so that's top of the news. Um.
- 8:13Speaker 1: That was announced today, and more information will be coming
- 8:16Speaker 1: out over the next few months about time and date.
- 8:19Speaker 1: Uh so what else we got? We got a lot
- 8:21Speaker 1: of reports, a lot of reports. What do we got? What?
- 8:24Speaker 1: What's who's on the list coming in? Adrian Clem Jefferson,
- 8:29Speaker 1: Old School Patriots, Keenan McCardell, Yeah, Sean Jefferson, Ye, Nick
- 8:33Speaker 1: Kayley and Nick Kayley, Which what I don't get it.
- 8:38Speaker 1: I saw Tom Tommy Kern's reaction to it. I think
- 8:41Speaker 1: that's what everybody did, Like what you're you're like what
- 8:43Speaker 1: you're interviewing him? Now? Like why don't you just interview him?
- 8:45Speaker 1: Last year, Like what are you saying to him? And
- 8:47Speaker 1: why didn't you do this whole thing last year? Right? Like,
- 8:50Speaker 1: what did you learn in the last year? We didn't
- 8:51Speaker 1: think you were ready? Did you? Like? Did he get
- 8:53Speaker 1: ready in the course of this last season in terms
- 8:55Speaker 1: of observing what they were trying to do? That's the
- 8:57Speaker 1: the head scratcher to me, um, but otherwise not to
- 9:01Speaker 1: do so. I always always prepared, But how do you
- 9:03Speaker 1: go into that as? Uh? It is odd as a
- 9:06Speaker 1: as a tight ends coach. You know, what do you
- 9:07Speaker 1: think you would prepare to go into that meeting? Like
- 9:10Speaker 1: are you saying here's the office, Here's what I would do,
- 9:13Speaker 1: this is whre's why I'm ready, Here's why you know?
- 9:15Speaker 1: This is the playbook that I you know, not like specifically,
- 9:19Speaker 1: you know, personnel wise, this is what we were lacking.
- 9:21Speaker 1: This is what we need to accentuate more. These are
- 9:23Speaker 1: the kind of concepts that I think are better suited
- 9:26Speaker 1: to mac Jones. And how do you do that though?
- 9:28Speaker 1: Without throwing your fellow colleagues under the bus, right or
- 9:31Speaker 1: like or being like, why didn't we do this last year?
- 9:33Speaker 1: I'm pissed that you guys for not giving me this chance.
- 9:36Speaker 1: Last year. Yeah, it's a it's a bizarre situation. Who
- 9:39Speaker 1: do you think is in that meeting with him? Is
- 9:41Speaker 1: that a is that just a Bill want or I
- 9:43Speaker 1: mean Robert And that's a great question. I have no idea.
- 9:46Speaker 1: I mean, I'm assuming Bill because maybe initiate in there.
- 9:49Speaker 1: If he's going to go back to senior football advisor?
- 9:51Speaker 1: Is he sitting there my replacement? You know? Right, it's weird.
- 9:55Speaker 1: It's weird. Is Matt Growing? It is Elliott wolf In?
- 9:57Speaker 1: It is Jonathan or Robert Kraft in it. I also
- 10:01Speaker 1: wonder if they pulled Fears Dante Scarneckia, Like did they
- 10:05Speaker 1: pull some of the retired guys that have obviously been
- 10:09Speaker 1: around the block one hundred million times and know what
- 10:11Speaker 1: they're looking at and what they're talking. So that's two
- 10:13Speaker 1: questions we need to ask Dante. There is that one,
- 10:16Speaker 1: and then there was another question, what is the associate
- 10:18Speaker 1: head coach? What what is that? What are you doing?
- 10:21Speaker 1: We need to get him on the phone. So we
- 10:24Speaker 1: should we should because I mean extensively at least once
- 10:31Speaker 1: a week by somebody. Do you think that's a little weird?
- 10:34Speaker 1: Like he always has to chime in on what they're doing.
- 10:36Speaker 1: Like every every week we go to him to like
- 10:38Speaker 1: get the Dante criticism, Like I love him, I mean,
- 10:41Speaker 1: I wish he was still here, but it just feels
- 10:44Speaker 1: like he's hanging over the head now. This offensive coordinator
- 10:47Speaker 1: search worries me. I don't like it. I don't like
- 10:51Speaker 1: the names, and it's I like that they're thinking a
- 10:53Speaker 1: little bit more outside the box than maybe I expected.
- 10:56Speaker 1: And I really think that highly of Sean Jefferson and
- 11:00Speaker 1: Keenan mccartell as coaches. I think that they're they're coaches
- 11:03Speaker 1: that have offensive coordinator in their future. But I think
- 11:07Speaker 1: for this team right now, you need somebody that's done
- 11:10Speaker 1: it before, like you needed somebody that's called plays in
- 11:12Speaker 1: an NFL game that's coach quarterbacks. I think that last part,
- 11:16Speaker 1: especially at least if ye like as as Greg Barnard
- 11:19Speaker 1: looks to say touched the quarterback, which makes me uncomfortable,
- 11:23Speaker 1: but at least if he had ever worked with the
- 11:24Speaker 1: quarterback now, it just feels to me like you are
- 11:28Speaker 1: in a situation where you're trying to fix your third
- 11:31Speaker 1: year quarterback with a guy that is also trying to
- 11:34Speaker 1: learn on the job of how to be an offensive coordinator. Now,
- 11:38Speaker 1: if you told me that Bill O'Brien's coming and Keenan
- 11:41Speaker 1: mccartell is going to be the receiver's coach and pass
- 11:44Speaker 1: game coordinator, that's a that's a different conversation. Or Adrian
- 11:48Speaker 1: Clem's gonna come and coach the offensive line, that's a
- 11:50Speaker 1: different conversation. But as those guys being the guys at
- 11:55Speaker 1: offensive coordinator, I know everybody was new at it at
- 11:58Speaker 1: some point, but they don't need it. They don't. You
- 12:00Speaker 1: can't have a new guy right now. Well, here's the
- 12:02Speaker 1: other thing when you ask, you know, who's involved in
- 12:05Speaker 1: these interviews? Is Girard Mayo involved? Right? Is that part
- 12:09Speaker 1: of his new thing? You know? Does Girard Mayo have
- 12:12Speaker 1: a new thing? Right? There's a lot of questions. Yeah, Evan,
- 12:17Speaker 1: are you intrigued at all by I mean, I totally
- 12:19Speaker 1: agree with your point of you intrigued all though with
- 12:20Speaker 1: Sean Jefferson, I know you were kind of like Kingsbury
- 12:23Speaker 1: and get him in here. Jefferson's been with him. I mean,
- 12:25Speaker 1: I know he's not king but I like the idea
- 12:28Speaker 1: of some of the concepts and some of the ideas
- 12:32Speaker 1: that a guy like McCardell or Sean Jefferson could bring
- 12:35Speaker 1: to the table. Again, I just have hesitation with the
- 12:38Speaker 1: fact that none of these guys have actually called plays
- 12:40Speaker 1: in an NFL game, And on top of not ever
- 12:42Speaker 1: calling plays, they have coached under guys that are there
- 12:47Speaker 1: because of their offensive acumen. You know, in Arizona, Sean
- 12:51Speaker 1: Jefferson is there with Cliff Kingsbury, who's the whole offense,
- 12:54Speaker 1: and then in Minnesota, Koc is running the whole. That's
- 12:57Speaker 1: why he was hired by the Vikings was to run
- 13:00Speaker 1: the offense. So how much, say, does Keenan McCardell have
- 13:05Speaker 1: and what's going on when koc is on the job
- 13:08Speaker 1: because of his offensive background. I just have a lot
- 13:11Speaker 1: of hesitations with that. And then we have people saying, oh, well,
- 13:15Speaker 1: Keenan McCardell, look at what he did with Justin Jefferson, Like,
- 13:18Speaker 1: so he deserves credit for that. What did he do
- 13:22Speaker 1: Fred Fred had his eye on Justin Jefferson. I mean,
- 13:25Speaker 1: I would get in all seriousness, I'd give Fred every
- 13:27Speaker 1: bit as much credit for Justin Jefferson as I would
- 13:30Speaker 1: Keenan McCardell, or as they had the same amount of
- 13:33Speaker 1: impact on his career. Sehn Jefferson Calvin Johnson has been
- 13:36Speaker 1: very vocal about what a great coach Sean Jefferson is.
- 13:39Speaker 1: We were joking about it on the way down here.
- 13:41Speaker 1: Calvin Johnson like he needed coaching, Like what what do
- 13:44Speaker 1: you what are you coaching him? He's a tough one.
- 13:47Speaker 1: He's one of the co here. But he cannot wear spandex. No,
- 13:51Speaker 1: I know you don't. That makes you very uncomfortable, like
- 13:53Speaker 1: unning at the produc you've been scarred for life. Do
- 13:56Speaker 1: you think they're asking him about that in the interview?
- 13:58Speaker 1: I think to Evans point though, it sounds like they're
- 14:01Speaker 1: filling out the committee and not we're gonna hire an
- 14:04Speaker 1: offensive coordinator, you know, like like it feels more like
- 14:06Speaker 1: Adrian clumb Like wow, he's got a lot of experience
- 14:09Speaker 1: on the offensive line. He's been an associate. Hiccup. I'm
- 14:11Speaker 1: like hard, I'm a hard no on Adrian Clint the
- 14:13Speaker 1: other guys. I can I can talk because I don't
- 14:15Speaker 1: like what happened to whom in Pittsburgh. Yeah, that rubbed
- 14:17Speaker 1: me the wrong refresh. He took a job in the
- 14:21Speaker 1: middle of the season, well not in the middle of
- 14:23Speaker 1: the season, toward the end of the season he was
- 14:25Speaker 1: openly soliciting other jobs, and Tomlin found out about it
- 14:29Speaker 1: and said, no, no no, no, you don't have to wait
- 14:30Speaker 1: till the end of the season. You can go, oh yeah,
- 14:32Speaker 1: that's not good. Okay. Yeah. So, Plus I don't at
- 14:36Speaker 1: Oregon this past year, and I'm sure if he gets hired,
- 14:39Speaker 1: you'll hear about how great their offensive line was this
- 14:42Speaker 1: past year. They were also absolutely loaded with talent on
- 14:45Speaker 1: the offensive line that Mario christ the Ball recruited to
- 14:48Speaker 1: Oregon before he left. And those guys are all in
- 14:51Speaker 1: the draft this year and they're all gonna be drafted
- 14:54Speaker 1: at some point in the in the in the draft process.
- 14:56Speaker 1: So that Oregon had a good offensive line, there's acts
- 15:00Speaker 1: were really good, but they also had immense talent on
- 15:02Speaker 1: the offensive line that really helped out as well. So
- 15:06Speaker 1: I don't know. Again, I just keep coming back to
- 15:08Speaker 1: the same thing. I want somebody that is established, that's
- 15:13Speaker 1: been there before, that's done it, because they have so
- 15:16Speaker 1: much to fix from what happened last year that I
- 15:19Speaker 1: just don't want somebody that's learning on the fly that
- 15:22Speaker 1: really works. But I do like these names like they're
- 15:25Speaker 1: doing some work, they're doing some homework, they're looking into
- 15:28Speaker 1: guys that you know, So they're they're you know, these
- 15:31Speaker 1: are names that we didn't come up with, you know,
- 15:35Speaker 1: up with. Yeah, mccarto was on his list. Yeah, so
- 15:38Speaker 1: somebody told him those things. Yeah, exactly, we didn't have to.
- 15:43Speaker 1: But so so I, you know, I like that they're
- 15:46Speaker 1: you know, going out of the you know, the normal boxes.
- 15:50Speaker 1: And yeah, and yet still Patriots guys. That's the thing.
- 15:53Speaker 1: And I'm gonna actually, and I'm gonna really surprise you, Fred,
- 15:56Speaker 1: I'm gonna defend Bill a little bit here because I
- 15:59Speaker 1: heard a lot out of criticism for that yesterday, you know,
- 16:02Speaker 1: on my shows on my station. Fred. Yeah, you know,
- 16:05Speaker 1: why does it always have to be somewhat you know, well,
- 16:08Speaker 1: he played for Bill in Cleveland, or he was with
- 16:11Speaker 1: the Patriots back in the nineties, He's got something because
- 16:14Speaker 1: that's how it works. Like there's not very many coaches
- 16:17Speaker 1: out there that say, you know what, I have my
- 16:19Speaker 1: eye on this evanlaz Our guy, and like, I think
- 16:22Speaker 1: he can coach offense for me. I've never met him,
- 16:24Speaker 1: but I like the way he writes, So I'm just
- 16:27Speaker 1: gonna hire him sight on sea. Like that doesn't work
- 16:29Speaker 1: that way, Like to me, those guys. Yeah, they have
- 16:33Speaker 1: a connection to Belichick. He knows them, but it's not
- 16:36Speaker 1: the same as hiring your son to be the defensive coordinator. Yeah,
- 16:39Speaker 1: Like you know, like there's gotta be some level of familiarity.
- 16:42Speaker 1: It's like Doug Marone, you know, like it's it seems
- 16:45Speaker 1: to me Doug Marone was in case of emergency Brake
- 16:48Speaker 1: Glass like he always knew he was there, you know,
- 16:51Speaker 1: in the minute like the season ended, it seemed like
- 16:53Speaker 1: he targeted Doug Marone. You know, like, I don't know
- 16:57Speaker 1: if he's gonna end up back here, but he definitely
- 16:59Speaker 1: Are you talking about what the guys in New Orleans? Yeah, no,
- 17:03Speaker 1: Doug Marrone is his name is out there. Yeah, as
- 17:05Speaker 1: an offensive cord No, no, no, as line coach. He's
- 17:08Speaker 1: like I keep hearing everybody's tied to Doug Marone. Keenan
- 17:12Speaker 1: McCardell was on his staff in Jacksonville. So there's a
- 17:15Speaker 1: connection there, and that might help Bill O'Brien is obviously
- 17:18Speaker 1: that's a well known story of how tight Doug Marone
- 17:21Speaker 1: and Bill O'Brien. Well maybe that's why Bill, and again
- 17:24Speaker 1: this is just reports. We don't know. I didn't know
- 17:26Speaker 1: that Bill talked to Doug Moron about about anything. He
- 17:30Speaker 1: went to me as a report. He went to New
- 17:31Speaker 1: Orleans to talk to him. Okay, I didn't know that.
- 17:35Speaker 1: I didn't know that. That's why I was like, it
- 17:37Speaker 1: could be just to get info about these other guys,
- 17:39Speaker 1: or it could be to talk to him about coming
- 17:41Speaker 1: over here. I don't know. I do like that element of,
- 17:44Speaker 1: you know, maybe all these guys are offensive coordinator candidates.
- 17:48Speaker 1: Maybe they're not. And I like the idea that if
- 17:50Speaker 1: possibly they're not, because they need you keep talking about it.
- 17:55Speaker 1: They need an entire really offensive coaching. If you know,
- 17:58Speaker 1: you don't become our OC. Would you be interested in
- 18:01Speaker 1: the line? You know? Right, you bring that up, which
- 18:03Speaker 1: in many ways I don't. I don't say it is
- 18:05Speaker 1: as important, but it's not far behind. And I think,
- 18:07Speaker 1: you know, for some of us that are like, well,
- 18:09Speaker 1: just put Matt Patricia back on the offensive line, and like,
- 18:11Speaker 1: I don't know if that's good enough. Like I think
- 18:15Speaker 1: take that, yeah for sure, for sure, But that's what
- 18:17Speaker 1: I'm looking at, right, Like that's what I want because
- 18:20Speaker 1: both those guys have been coaching that for twenty years.
- 18:23Speaker 1: Like these guys that have done the Patriots should be
- 18:25Speaker 1: getting right right. The Patriot shouldn't be one of those
- 18:27Speaker 1: teams that has to give somebody their first shot right right,
- 18:30Speaker 1: especially last year, Like do you can't have guys that
- 18:32Speaker 1: are trying to figure it out? I think that the
- 18:34Speaker 1: players these days smell blood in the water, and somebody,
- 18:36Speaker 1: to Evan's point, who's coached it for ten years, comes
- 18:38Speaker 1: in knows exactly what they want to do, how they
- 18:40Speaker 1: want to do it, and you just got to get
- 18:42Speaker 1: on board or you're not. And if there's a new
- 18:44Speaker 1: guy who's like, all right, I know I haven't called
- 18:46Speaker 1: plays before, it's kind of here we go again, like
- 18:48Speaker 1: we got to sit and let this guy figure it out.
- 18:50Speaker 1: I agree, But I also just wonder if this is
- 18:53Speaker 1: all first show somewhat, and then we're gonna get Bill O'Brien.
- 18:57Speaker 1: And it is interesting that they've interviewed too wide receivers coaches,
- 19:00Speaker 1: because I've been vocal about the wide receiver play this
- 19:03Speaker 1: past season and Troy Brown and looking at that a
- 19:06Speaker 1: little bit closely. Now they're interviewing two guys that have
- 19:10Speaker 1: that that coach basically exclusively wide receivers in their careers,
- 19:14Speaker 1: and you wonder if there's something going on there as
- 19:17Speaker 1: well that Troy Brown might not be more interested than that. Like,
- 19:20Speaker 1: you know, maybe these guys, these guys are experienced doing
- 19:23Speaker 1: what they do, if that's what they're you know, because
- 19:26Speaker 1: Troy Brown, you know, also you know, sort of works
- 19:28Speaker 1: with the returners and stuff, and you know, Mark Jones
- 19:31Speaker 1: is pretty good at it. Again, I'm not a big
- 19:34Speaker 1: fan of the position coach is responsible for the success
- 19:38Speaker 1: of the individual players at his position or conversely blamed
- 19:42Speaker 1: for you know, like Nick Kayley can't coach now because
- 19:44Speaker 1: the tight ends have been average for the Patriots. I
- 19:47Speaker 1: don't think that's on Nick Kayley, just like I didn't
- 19:49Speaker 1: think Rob Gronkowski was a product of Nick Kayley. I mean,
- 19:52Speaker 1: Charlie Weiss got a lot of it it because Charlie Weiss
- 19:54Speaker 1: back in the day he coached running backs, tight ends
- 19:58Speaker 1: and wide receivers and like you know, Curtis Martin did well. Uh,
- 20:03Speaker 1: he coached Terry Glenn when he first came in, and
- 20:07Speaker 1: and coats and so I wrote something in the newspaper.
- 20:09Speaker 1: You know, it seems like everything that Charlie touches turns
- 20:12Speaker 1: out pretty well. Get a phone call. It's his wife
- 20:16Speaker 1: Charlie really liked that article. You're and Charlie, I hear
- 20:19Speaker 1: the shower in the background. He comes out of the
- 20:21Speaker 1: shower to say, hey, that was really good. Thank It's
- 20:24Speaker 1: a whole lot of man coming out of the shower.
- 20:27Speaker 1: But this is these aren't like the stories that like,
- 20:30Speaker 1: great article, Kurs. This is why it needs to be
- 20:32Speaker 1: a book, like the History Patriots Football Weekly Slash. But like,
- 20:39Speaker 1: I don't know how much actual credit Charlie should get
- 20:42Speaker 1: for Curtis Martin. You know it right, Yeah, they were
- 20:47Speaker 1: like the three players that we're talking about were all
- 20:50Speaker 1: Hall of Fame worthy talents, like Curtis Martin is in
- 20:54Speaker 1: the Hall of Fame, and Ben Coates and Terry Glenn
- 20:57Speaker 1: had Hall of Fame talent. Yeah, like work when it
- 21:06Speaker 1: comes to wide receiver development though, that I think is
- 21:08Speaker 1: more on the maybe not production, but development I think
- 21:12Speaker 1: speaks more to the coach. I would agree with that.
- 21:15Speaker 1: And and to you a point. You do a lot
- 21:17Speaker 1: with the you know, the concepts and the the xs
- 21:20Speaker 1: and os, and how many times you pointed out this
- 21:22Speaker 1: year that the wide receiver route running was a problem,
- 21:25Speaker 1: not just where they ended up being, but how they
- 21:27Speaker 1: actually got there. And that is something I think that
- 21:31Speaker 1: you could, you know legitimately. Second, you know, how they're
- 21:35Speaker 1: breaking off routes to depths that they were breaking around
- 21:38Speaker 1: about that, like it's not working in games? What does
- 21:41Speaker 1: practice look like? You know, because usually if it looks
- 21:45Speaker 1: wrong in the game, it probably looked wrong in practice.
- 21:48Speaker 1: That's great question, you know. I just wonder that all
- 21:50Speaker 1: practices looking like every time Mac went up to the
- 21:53Speaker 1: podium after a practice, that was what I really was wondering.
- 21:56Speaker 1: It's just how did it really go this week? Like
- 21:58Speaker 1: how did you, like, do you really feel you're getting
- 22:00Speaker 1: it or do you feel I mean, only the guys
- 22:02Speaker 1: there could answer it, but I just I think it's
- 22:05Speaker 1: a great part to believe that they get to the
- 22:06Speaker 1: game and they just collapse, you know. And that's why
- 22:09Speaker 1: I got to imagine that the struggles were very much
- 22:11Speaker 1: present in practice, and that's hopefully part of the reason
- 22:14Speaker 1: they've recognized like we have. So there was one one
- 22:19Speaker 1: little item of note that I that I thought kind
- 22:21Speaker 1: of flew under the radar yesterday from Ian Rappaport talking
- 22:24Speaker 1: about Bill O'Brien still considered to be the front runner,
- 22:28Speaker 1: but at the end he sort of threw in there.
- 22:30Speaker 1: You know, he's still considered the front runner. He's been
- 22:32Speaker 1: the offensive coordinator in New England before working with quarterbacks,
- 22:36Speaker 1: currently the offensive coordinator at Alabama, and he's out, and
- 22:41Speaker 1: I just gave it the Alabama there. I felt that
- 22:44Speaker 1: Alabama and he's currently recruiting. Now, technically they're just like
- 22:49Speaker 1: the NFL coaches there. Contracts don't end until a certain time,
- 22:52Speaker 1: and I think in college it's February. But if you're
- 22:56Speaker 1: Nick Saban and you know he's leaving, you want him
- 22:58Speaker 1: out recruiting. Not really what's he selling him? You know,
- 23:01Speaker 1: he's selling him his off. So I thought that was
- 23:03Speaker 1: interesting that Rappaport mentioned. I don't know if he just
- 23:06Speaker 1: kind of threw that out there. Um craps sheet does
- 23:09Speaker 1: have ties to Alabama. He used to coach, He used
- 23:12Speaker 1: to cover Alabama before he came to the Herald and
- 23:15Speaker 1: started covering the Patriots. So I didn't just dismiss that.
- 23:19Speaker 1: I thought that that was an element that didn't get
- 23:21Speaker 1: really much play. But I thought that was interesting. If
- 23:24Speaker 1: he in fact is out recruiting, is that something that
- 23:27Speaker 1: he wanted out there? Maybe his agent says, I say, hey,
- 23:30Speaker 1: you know these guys aren't really coming after me. Let
- 23:32Speaker 1: him know that I'm not necessarily ready to come in.
- 23:35Speaker 1: If you guys want me, you got to come and
- 23:37Speaker 1: get I mean, is there the possibility that Saban says,
- 23:40Speaker 1: you know, come back and give you a good bump
- 23:42Speaker 1: and pay. And I see Albert Brier is on my
- 23:46Speaker 1: station um right now and actually says he doesn't see
- 23:49Speaker 1: a lot right now happening with Bill O'Brien. It's it's been.
- 23:53Speaker 1: There's Fred's dug my own thing coming up too. Yeah,
- 23:55Speaker 1: So I love that, I mean, and that's Evans thing.
- 23:58Speaker 1: I mean, and and not even as an off as
- 24:00Speaker 1: a coordinator, but the old line guy somebody. It's not
- 24:03Speaker 1: like we've done bad. Having coaches that have been in
- 24:07Speaker 1: that position for a long time, whether it's Ivan Fears
- 24:09Speaker 1: or Dante Scarneckia, there's something to be said about. And
- 24:12Speaker 1: they have a relate O'Brien and Moron I believe their
- 24:16Speaker 1: wives were college roommates at BC. So they go back
- 24:20Speaker 1: Alabama's offensive line coach twenty one O'Brien's first year there
- 24:26Speaker 1: and it didn't go particularly well, and he was not
- 24:29Speaker 1: there last year's in New Orleans with the Saints. I
- 24:32Speaker 1: just if this all these interviews that they're doing ultimately
- 24:36Speaker 1: comes down to we're actually interviewing to fill out the staff,
- 24:40Speaker 1: because O'Brien, that's what I'm saying, Yeah, then then much happier.
- 24:44Speaker 1: Then I'm all on board with it. If they're going
- 24:46Speaker 1: to hand one of these guys that they're in Adrian
- 24:49Speaker 1: Clem is going to be the offensive coordinator next year,
- 24:51Speaker 1: I'm gonna be skeptical. If any of the guys that
- 24:53Speaker 1: we've heard about end up being the offensive coordinator, I
- 24:56Speaker 1: would call it an uninspired selection. Yeah, include Nick Kaylee,
- 25:00Speaker 1: because it would bother would be that they wasted a
- 25:04Speaker 1: year when they felt obviously they felt enough about this guy.
- 25:07Speaker 1: If they it be that would bother you. But better
- 25:10Speaker 1: to you know, would admit the mistake and do it,
- 25:13Speaker 1: you know, if he really is qualified and they thought
- 25:15Speaker 1: he was the better to do it than never do
- 25:19Speaker 1: the last guy they thought was qualified. No, I'm just saying, like, Okay,
- 25:22Speaker 1: maybe it bothers you, but that doesn't mean it would
- 25:24Speaker 1: be the wrong decision. No, I just would I would
- 25:27Speaker 1: call it uninspired. It's like but last man standing, whoever
- 25:31Speaker 1: was around. But I would totally agree if these if
- 25:33Speaker 1: these guys are to fill out the staff. It's like
- 25:35Speaker 1: what I think they need, like, you know, a re
- 25:37Speaker 1: influx of some young coaches. And they're not young young,
- 25:40Speaker 1: but you know, guys who have some experience, but that
- 25:43Speaker 1: can even if they're not the offensive corne or can
- 25:45Speaker 1: be groomed and developed. Hearing Evan's point, you could make
- 25:48Speaker 1: an argument that they need a new coach at virtually
- 25:50Speaker 1: every position. Now I could live with Troy Brown sort
- 25:55Speaker 1: of continuing to develop into the role Vinny Sinceriri same thing.
- 26:00Speaker 1: But you need a line coach, you need a quarterbacks coach,
- 26:04Speaker 1: and you need an offensive coordinator. I don't think that
- 26:06Speaker 1: those are really negotiable. My only question would just be
- 26:09Speaker 1: of the group of guys that they have coming in.
- 26:11Speaker 1: They're all kind of similar that they've you know, coach
- 26:13Speaker 1: wide receivers, they've been associate head coach. Is that kind
- 26:16Speaker 1: of Are these guys in line for promotion or do
- 26:18Speaker 1: you think that they would come here and kind of
- 26:20Speaker 1: make a lateral move from I mean, I know, you
- 26:23Speaker 1: know in Arizona he's up for a job, and you know,
- 26:25Speaker 1: I mean there are the issues, but are these guys
- 26:28Speaker 1: I don't think McCardell would leave to do the same thing. Yeah, Jefferson,
- 26:31Speaker 1: might you know he was the assistant head coach for
- 26:34Speaker 1: a guy who's no longer employed. Yew. I don't know
- 26:36Speaker 1: if Brian Flores gets that job. Is that the rumor
- 26:38Speaker 1: that he's generation for the Cardinals. Maybe he wants to
- 26:42Speaker 1: retain him, just like Kevin O'Connell retained McCardell. I also
- 26:46Speaker 1: find it an interesting let's stick with O'Brien. If O'Brien's
- 26:49Speaker 1: the higher and he has a good season with the
- 26:52Speaker 1: Patriots next year, then teams are gonna come calling for
- 26:54Speaker 1: him to be a head coach. So maybe you have
- 26:57Speaker 1: Keenan McCardell learn under Bill O'Brien for a year, and
- 27:00Speaker 1: now you're passing that torch to keen. That's why I
- 27:03Speaker 1: don't right, but but but that that to me is
- 27:08Speaker 1: not chess. That's the way the NFL works, right right
- 27:10Speaker 1: everywhere else, ye have your replacement in place, and then
- 27:14Speaker 1: you kind of say that to me, we're going to
- 27:16Speaker 1: make you wide receiver slash pass game coordinator, and then
- 27:19Speaker 1: you'll get the play call sheet when when Bill gets
- 27:23Speaker 1: a head coaching job, because we know he's probably going
- 27:25Speaker 1: to right, so that that'll be your job in a
- 27:28Speaker 1: year or two. Fine, I'd like that. I'd like that
- 27:31Speaker 1: if they if they brought in guys with that kind
- 27:33Speaker 1: of experience, if you have Doug Marone and and Keenan
- 27:36Speaker 1: McCardell well, Sean Jefferson, whoever, and then you have Bill
- 27:40Speaker 1: O'Brien and you're sort of leading the offense, and then
- 27:43Speaker 1: and if it works, which is what you what you
- 27:45Speaker 1: want obviously, I know that's what now. I have options.
- 27:48Speaker 1: I know, well, that's what we're breezing by it. I'm
- 27:50Speaker 1: not chasing the plane to keep Josh from going to
- 27:52Speaker 1: Indie like I have options. Right, If Bill O'Brien does
- 27:54Speaker 1: a good enough job that he's gonna get a head
- 27:56Speaker 1: coach offer, then like Lacy's let's go, Like that's that's what.
- 28:00Speaker 1: I'll definitely have options in college. I'll tell you that.
- 28:03Speaker 1: I mean, I think I'll have options in college even
- 28:05Speaker 1: if it's not like a resounding success here, As long
- 28:08Speaker 1: as it's not a train wreck, the college teams will
- 28:11Speaker 1: will offer him. But Todd Monkin and Georgia is another
- 28:15Speaker 1: name that it sounds like he's going to maybe interview
- 28:18Speaker 1: with Tampa Bay now that they've parted with Byron Left,
- 28:20Speaker 1: which another guy that's been calling plays for a decade
- 28:23Speaker 1: and knows what he's doing and has been around the block.
- 28:26Speaker 1: And you know, that would be a guy that I
- 28:28Speaker 1: would love to have have here or add to this
- 28:32Speaker 1: list of of interested you know, interviews or whatever, more
- 28:36Speaker 1: so than the guys that they're interviewing. But it doesn't
- 28:40Speaker 1: seem like he's on their radar, or at least not
- 28:42Speaker 1: publicly yet. We'll see. Yeah, And you know, I would
- 28:46Speaker 1: assume that you know, some of these leagues are coming
- 28:48Speaker 1: from insight here. You know, just if you're gonna go
- 28:51Speaker 1: to the lengths of that report or not not that report,
- 28:55Speaker 1: that release that you did last week, you're gonna follow
- 28:58Speaker 1: through and let people know that you know, that just
- 29:00Speaker 1: wasn't a couple of sentences, we're actually doing it, yeah,
- 29:03Speaker 1: you know. And it's with all the reports coming out,
- 29:05Speaker 1: it seems like they're making an effort to make sure
- 29:08Speaker 1: it's known that they're meeting with people. And I mean,
- 29:11Speaker 1: I think it's a it's a good sign, but I
- 29:13Speaker 1: share all your concerns with with who it's actually gonna
- 29:15Speaker 1: end up being. Yeah, but we do know this change
- 29:19Speaker 1: of foot. I do still think it's gonna be Bill O'Brien,
- 29:21Speaker 1: and all said and done, I do too, And but
- 29:23Speaker 1: I think that's what's most appealing though, is is not
- 29:25Speaker 1: just getting that offensive coordinat but getting all the all
- 29:28Speaker 1: the spots that they need, really reinforcing things. And you know,
- 29:30Speaker 1: then I think you send a message to Mac and
- 29:32Speaker 1: the players too that you know it's going to be
- 29:34Speaker 1: different next year. And you know, and the other thing
- 29:37Speaker 1: too is I know people are getting in this like
- 29:38Speaker 1: Max got to learn a third system. I'm fine, he's smart,
- 29:42Speaker 1: he got that, he got it as a rookie. I'm
- 29:43Speaker 1: not as like, oh god, I can't believe he's got
- 29:45Speaker 1: to do a third offense in three years. Like, well,
- 29:47Speaker 1: that would depend get it right, if it's Bill O'Brien.
- 29:49Speaker 1: I'm not worried about it at all. I agree with you,
- 29:50Speaker 1: so because he's gonna know enough already. If you signed
- 29:53Speaker 1: a new OC, do the rules allow that OC to
- 29:56Speaker 1: like come in contact with the players early or yes? Yeah,
- 30:00Speaker 1: so you can actually well I know for a head
- 30:02Speaker 1: coach you can actually start training camp early, right, I
- 30:05Speaker 1: know that. I don't think that's true for coordinators, but yeah,
- 30:08Speaker 1: they'll be able to have a little bit of leeway.
- 30:11Speaker 1: I think they're in terms of getting those two guys
- 30:13Speaker 1: together and figuring it out. But I just I have
- 30:19Speaker 1: so many hesitations of giving this to a new guy,
- 30:22Speaker 1: like a guy that's just never done it before. And
- 30:25Speaker 1: I think in particular not necessarily coaching from a day
- 30:29Speaker 1: to day because I think those guys are probably pretty
- 30:31Speaker 1: talented coaches, but in game play calling is a totally
- 30:35Speaker 1: different animal, like knowing how to set things up and
- 30:37Speaker 1: knowing how to sequence drives together and knowing, Okay, we're
- 30:40Speaker 1: gonna call this in the first quarter and then we're
- 30:42Speaker 1: gonna call this in the fourth quarter that looks like
- 30:45Speaker 1: the thing we called in the first quarter, but it's
- 30:46Speaker 1: actually something different. Like those things I think are that
- 30:50Speaker 1: three D chess that play callers that have experience, that
- 30:53Speaker 1: have done it before are really good at setting up
- 30:55Speaker 1: and McDaniels was good at it. And you see all
- 30:57Speaker 1: these other young coordinators out there that have backgrounds coaching quarterbacks,
- 31:03Speaker 1: being quarterbacks, calling plays in games, like that's the type
- 31:06Speaker 1: of guy that I want here is you know, the
- 31:09Speaker 1: guy that that's the pedigree right now, that's the success,
- 31:12Speaker 1: it's the you know Kevin O'Connell's. It's the guys that
- 31:16Speaker 1: you know, Ken Dorisey, Brian Dable, like these guys that
- 31:19Speaker 1: have done it before and have worked with quarterbacks before
- 31:22Speaker 1: or played the position in the NFL, and just understand
- 31:25Speaker 1: how you think on that level. And I just feel
- 31:29Speaker 1: like that should be the most important thing. Is not
- 31:32Speaker 1: we need to develop Tykwon Thornton. The most important thing
- 31:35Speaker 1: is that we need to develop Mac Jones, right, Like
- 31:37Speaker 1: that's more important than the line or the wide receiver
- 31:40Speaker 1: development or whatever. And I don't know if these hires
- 31:42Speaker 1: necessarily point to that. I've always said that there's three
- 31:45Speaker 1: parts to it. There's the offensive architect, the person who
- 31:49Speaker 1: architects the overall offense. Then there's the game, the game
- 31:53Speaker 1: installer installation, and then there's game you know, play calling.
- 31:57Speaker 1: Do you believe that the OC has to be all
- 32:00Speaker 1: three or are you comfortable with a guy who you
- 32:03Speaker 1: know is the first two but somebody else calls the
- 32:06Speaker 1: plays on game day like or do you think you're
- 32:09Speaker 1: ideally I would like him to be all three because
- 32:11Speaker 1: I want the offensive court. I think this was a
- 32:14Speaker 1: problem this year was that I want the offensive coordinator
- 32:18Speaker 1: to come in on Tuesday when he hands Mac Jones
- 32:20Speaker 1: the game plan, and he's with Mac Jones from Tuesday
- 32:23Speaker 1: to Sunday, and then they are on the exact same
- 32:25Speaker 1: page when they get into the game. This is a
- 32:28Speaker 1: call sheet, this is what we like in this position,
- 32:30Speaker 1: this is what we like in that position. Here's the
- 32:32Speaker 1: opening script, and they know exactly where each other is
- 32:36Speaker 1: thinking and what each other is thinking. I think those
- 32:38Speaker 1: are the guys that have done it at the best level,
- 32:41Speaker 1: at the highest level. Josh, you know, that's what he
- 32:43Speaker 1: would do, right, And I just think that that has
- 32:46Speaker 1: to be the quarterbacks coach. I just think it has
- 32:48Speaker 1: to be the same guy, because if you have a
- 32:50Speaker 1: guy like you know, this year, I think Matt Patricia
- 32:52Speaker 1: was spread too thin. So he's in an offensive line
- 32:55Speaker 1: meeting room when the quarterbacks are in another room and
- 32:58Speaker 1: they're talking about coverages and game playing stuff against the opponent,
- 33:02Speaker 1: and then Matt Patricia is coming in an hour later
- 33:04Speaker 1: and he's like, all right, guys, catch me up, Like
- 33:05Speaker 1: what have you been doing for the past hour. It's
- 33:08Speaker 1: now we have all sorts of signals being crossed and
- 33:10Speaker 1: things like that, And I just think it has to
- 33:12Speaker 1: be one guy and That's why I always get attached
- 33:15Speaker 1: to to other than O'Brien, like the former cornerbacks. I
- 33:18Speaker 1: just like that. I like the optics of I've been
- 33:20Speaker 1: in your shoes. I know what you're looking at. I
- 33:23Speaker 1: know what the game feels like when you're actually out there,
- 33:26Speaker 1: and it's not this foreign concept to me. All right.
- 33:29Speaker 1: Eight five five hundred is the ACE Ticket hut Line
- 33:31Speaker 1: Web radio at Patrice dot com. Let's turn to our listeners.
- 33:36Speaker 1: Melvin's in Tennessee on the ACE Ticket hut Line. What's up, Melvin? Hey? Hey?
- 33:42Speaker 1: Quick thing out? That was I'm a in relationship to
- 33:46Speaker 1: when you out talk about Gerard Mayo and stuff like that.
- 33:49Speaker 1: But I would like to see really how he you know,
- 33:54Speaker 1: he's only been coached for three four years, I would imagine.
- 33:57Speaker 1: I would just like to see how how he feels
- 34:00Speaker 1: like he's developed all of these last three or four years.
- 34:04Speaker 1: Like anybody can. You can get somebody to a game
- 34:07Speaker 1: plan and see how things go. And I can always
- 34:09Speaker 1: repeat what somebody wants me to repeat. That's not really
- 34:12Speaker 1: helping too much. But in these three or four years,
- 34:16Speaker 1: how am I getting that at? What am I doing wrong?
- 34:18Speaker 1: If he says I'm good at presenting stuff that's great,
- 34:21Speaker 1: but eventually you're gonna have you know, installed that particular stuff.
- 34:24Speaker 1: So what is that at the point of being on
- 34:27Speaker 1: the building, You're not gonna quote unquote open up your
- 34:30Speaker 1: world to me whatever that means. But I would like
- 34:33Speaker 1: to see what are the things that you do what
- 34:35Speaker 1: made you so great, and so I can get some
- 34:38Speaker 1: of that so I could be successful and things that
- 34:40Speaker 1: I want to go go forward. So I think obviously
- 34:44Speaker 1: as you're getting older, you want more help, not less help.
- 34:48Speaker 1: So I hope going forward this is what to see
- 34:51Speaker 1: your talking. That's good to have your you know, people
- 34:53Speaker 1: that you trust, but you really need to get people developed,
- 34:57Speaker 1: get people trained up so that you the presses. To me,
- 35:01Speaker 1: you can't do everything by yourself. You need people that
- 35:03Speaker 1: can't implement with just sand yeah things and develop people.
- 35:06Speaker 1: I think over the years Bill has done a good
- 35:09Speaker 1: job of that. Like he's always kept a pretty good
- 35:12Speaker 1: pipeline of young guys, you know, rising up and like
- 35:15Speaker 1: you said, Melvin, being coached up, learning how we do things,
- 35:19Speaker 1: doing a number of things. So like when you get
- 35:21Speaker 1: to finally being a position coach, you have a pretty
- 35:23Speaker 1: good foundation of how the organization runs, but they've run out.
- 35:28Speaker 1: They've run out of these guys. The brain drain just
- 35:31Speaker 1: you know, the depletion caught up with them. It was
- 35:34Speaker 1: just too fast. I do think it was. It was faster, Yeah,
- 35:37Speaker 1: and in recent because you lost in very quick succession Flores,
- 35:42Speaker 1: Patricia and Judge. Yeah, and those guys all took pieces
- 35:47Speaker 1: when they left, as opposed to Okay, you got Charlie
- 35:51Speaker 1: and Romeo left at the same exact time, but you
- 35:54Speaker 1: had guys that have been here for five years. You
- 35:56Speaker 1: were prepared for that, so you were able to sort
- 35:58Speaker 1: of withstand when Jeanie left I think the next year.
- 36:02Speaker 1: Right then it was a few years before you, you know,
- 36:06Speaker 1: were in that situation again when Josh left an OH
- 36:08Speaker 1: nine and you had Bill O'Brien on the staff, so
- 36:12Speaker 1: you would sort of been able to do it. But
- 36:13Speaker 1: now all of a sudden you lose three I mean
- 36:16Speaker 1: helped me out my chronology, but three and three years, yeah,
- 36:19Speaker 1: I would Also. I was watching that NFL Films thing
- 36:23Speaker 1: with Scarnecki and Ivan Fears in the Trophy Room that
- 36:26Speaker 1: they shot the little segment, and it just kind of
- 36:29Speaker 1: put into perspective how much experience and knowledge they lost
- 36:32Speaker 1: when those two guys retired, and they're not head coaches,
- 36:35Speaker 1: but they might as well have been head coaches, right,
- 36:38Speaker 1: And to have those two guys walk out the building.
- 36:41Speaker 1: And I thought what was interesting too about that segment
- 36:44Speaker 1: was that they pointed out that Dante Scarneckia actually survived
- 36:48Speaker 1: I think three coaching regimes in New England, like he
- 36:51Speaker 1: was with Parcels, with Carol and then stuck around for Bill, right,
- 36:56Speaker 1: So right, yeah, So I mean just think about how
- 37:01Speaker 1: respected and how much information and knowledge he must have
- 37:05Speaker 1: had and his coaching acumen that when four or five
- 37:09Speaker 1: Patriots head coaches all wanted to keep this guy on
- 37:12Speaker 1: this And don't discount the fact that when you have
- 37:14Speaker 1: that kind of experience with Dante and Ivan, how much
- 37:18Speaker 1: that helps when you have your guys trying to slide up,
- 37:22Speaker 1: Like that's invaluable knowledge that you don't have now. And
- 37:26Speaker 1: I think that's why Ivan was around as much as
- 37:28Speaker 1: he was this year. I got to be honest with you.
- 37:29Speaker 1: And plus, when you have those guys when you're the
- 37:32Speaker 1: head coach. Okay, those are two areas I don't even
- 37:35Speaker 1: have to worry about. I know it's being taken care of.
- 37:38Speaker 1: It's being done the way I want it to be done.
- 37:41Speaker 1: You know, the messaging is consistent. I don't have to
- 37:43Speaker 1: worry about it, you know. Can you imagine young Josh
- 37:46Speaker 1: McDaniels and oh five, who wasn't in name the offensive
- 37:50Speaker 1: coordinator yet, but he was the offensive coordinator in five.
- 37:54Speaker 1: He's got Dante. Yeah, he's got ivan fierce guys that
- 37:57Speaker 1: have been around for thirty years, right, you know when
- 37:59Speaker 1: especially Dante because of his knowledge of the game planning
- 38:04Speaker 1: and the offensive line play and all that. He knows everything.
- 38:07Speaker 1: So now you know, and I'm not trying to like
- 38:10Speaker 1: come off as being wholly sympathetic, but like, so now
- 38:13Speaker 1: Matt Patricia comes in and he's his own offensive line coach.
- 38:16Speaker 1: He doesn't have this thirty year it was a bad Yeah,
- 38:20Speaker 1: that's why I say we should thank him. Guys make
- 38:23Speaker 1: fun of me. They had Gronk on the segment, and
- 38:26Speaker 1: Gronk said that Dante would come up to him on
- 38:30Speaker 1: the sideline sometimes and be like, hey, like when they
- 38:34Speaker 1: do this, next time you do that, And he would
- 38:36Speaker 1: come back to the sideline and be in the end zone,
- 38:39Speaker 1: you know, like like this, like the things like that,
- 38:42Speaker 1: And he said, I'm a tight end and the offensive
- 38:44Speaker 1: line coaches coming up to me and saying, I saw
- 38:47Speaker 1: you do this, but we really want you to do
- 38:49Speaker 1: that or you know, some sort of correction or something
- 38:51Speaker 1: like that. And Dante had the ability to know all
- 38:54Speaker 1: of the positions, what they were supposed to be doing,
- 38:57Speaker 1: and what everything was supposed to be seen at all.
- 39:01Speaker 1: There's no way you survive whatever Ron Meyer, Ray Berry, Parson,
- 39:09Speaker 1: Rod Rust. I think he went with with Meyer to
- 39:12Speaker 1: Indy for that little hiatus that he was away from
- 39:15Speaker 1: New England. Then he comes back with Parcels and you know,
- 39:20Speaker 1: Pete and then Bill like, you can't survive all of
- 39:23Speaker 1: those regimes in one franchise and not know what you're doing.
- 39:27Speaker 1: Bill is Bill. But these guys had just as much
- 39:30Speaker 1: as experience in the NFL and knowing everything to know
- 39:32Speaker 1: about the game, said it's not even just their position,
- 39:36Speaker 1: they can help anywhere, and just that settling experience that
- 39:40Speaker 1: you just I mean, I think everybody by this point
- 39:42Speaker 1: could look at Dante Scarnecki and he's just he's got it.
- 39:46Speaker 1: I mean, that's what everybody Dante just. I mean, that's
- 39:48Speaker 1: for so long, that's what it was, just not sweeping
- 39:50Speaker 1: under the rug Dante will take care of the offensive line.
- 39:52Speaker 1: He'll get it going. He'll get it work, and it
- 39:53Speaker 1: might look a little sloppy early, but he'll By the way,
- 39:55Speaker 1: it's the same in every line of business, you know,
- 39:57Speaker 1: having people on your staff with experience as that you
- 40:01Speaker 1: don't have to like tell them, you don't have to
- 40:03Speaker 1: look over their shoulder. You can just you're just confident
- 40:07Speaker 1: that it's gonna get done. Yeah, you know, you trust them.
- 40:10Speaker 1: We haven't even brought up Ernie either, right, and having
- 40:13Speaker 1: him leave as well, And I'm like, I'm not trying
- 40:17Speaker 1: to make excuses for it, but I think that it
- 40:19Speaker 1: really looking at this whole thing from a thirty thousand
- 40:22Speaker 1: foot angle and putting into perspective how much knowledge and
- 40:25Speaker 1: just brain drain they have gone through. What these guys
- 40:28Speaker 1: that aren't necessarily coordinators are in the limelight as much
- 40:32Speaker 1: because of just the nature of their their positions and
- 40:35Speaker 1: things like that. Just to put into perspective, Ernie, Dante, Scarnekia,
- 40:40Speaker 1: and Ivan Fears leaving the organization all within a year
- 40:44Speaker 1: or two span. It's what like a hundred combined years
- 40:47Speaker 1: of NFL experience just walking out the door, right and
- 40:49Speaker 1: for all the like talk of like Josh Boyers of
- 40:51Speaker 1: the World or you know, all those other like assistants
- 40:54Speaker 1: like those that I know everybody loses those guys, though,
- 40:56Speaker 1: I just these this is a different level. I think
- 40:58Speaker 1: that's a great point of it. I don't think we
- 41:01Speaker 1: talk enough about the effect of Ernie leaving and like, yeah,
- 41:04Speaker 1: he wasn't a position coach, but he was a sounding
- 41:07Speaker 1: board for Bill. He was a guy that Bill could
- 41:09Speaker 1: bounce things off. He would bring things to Bill that
- 41:12Speaker 1: Bill wasn't thinking about. I think that was a big
- 41:14Speaker 1: loss to Bill, I really do. That's why I brought
- 41:17Speaker 1: up the timeline, Like, I know that they've always lost
- 41:20Speaker 1: guys along the way. I think it's different. This latest
- 41:24Speaker 1: round of losses is different than the previous ones. Yeah,
- 41:27Speaker 1: but the McDaniel's on the tail end of it too,
- 41:30Speaker 1: kind of cleaning out the leftovers. Yeah, And like Paul said,
- 41:33Speaker 1: and they took people with them. You know, I don't
- 41:36Speaker 1: know if anybody that Josh took with him would be
- 41:39Speaker 1: the would be the OC now, you know, but they'd
- 41:42Speaker 1: certainly be guys that you know, know the system and
- 41:46Speaker 1: you know. But let's just say that it was just
- 41:48Speaker 1: Josh that left yeah, okay, so think what you will
- 41:51Speaker 1: about whoever the other guys are like the Bowheart degrees
- 41:54Speaker 1: and the Lombarti. But that knocks do you other guys
- 42:00Speaker 1: down a level? You know, so instead of maybe Troy
- 42:04Speaker 1: Brown being the wide receivers coach, maybe he's not that yet.
- 42:08Speaker 1: Maybe he still has quarterbacks, you know, where Mick Lombardi's
- 42:12Speaker 1: the quarterbacks who knows like? Or Carmen Brisselo the offensive
- 42:16Speaker 1: line coach, which probably the biggest one I left out,
- 42:19Speaker 1: just a massive loss because it seemed like he had
- 42:22Speaker 1: stabilized that position group when they were kind of searching
- 42:25Speaker 1: for it after Dante retired. It seemed like he had
- 42:28Speaker 1: it buttoned up pretty well. And if Josh took him,
- 42:30Speaker 1: then he liked them, right. Yeah, So Josh had intimate
- 42:33Speaker 1: knowledge of their capabilities and he chose to start his
- 42:37Speaker 1: new career with Las Vegas with these guys. So that
- 42:40Speaker 1: tells you something about how Josh felt about him. I mean,
- 42:42Speaker 1: probably worth highlighting two. After Dante left, You've had three
- 42:46Speaker 1: different offensive line coaches combinations since then. I mean, you
- 42:49Speaker 1: had the two guys in Briscilo and Povich the first year,
- 42:53Speaker 1: then Covid you had just Briscilo and you know it's uh,
- 42:57Speaker 1: there hasn't been much Deblo Northeastern final. Oh really he's
- 43:01Speaker 1: a husky. He spent a year at Northeast. Wow, co Op,
- 43:04Speaker 1: he just did his copy right. Yeah. Yeah, let's get
- 43:09Speaker 1: back to the Phone's Todd to North Carolina. Hey Todd, Hey, guys,
- 43:13Speaker 1: I just want to say how already shout out to
- 43:16Speaker 1: mister Kraft because I think he really pushed for this
- 43:18Speaker 1: change in this coaching thing, because I was really nervous
- 43:21Speaker 1: that that was gay. Hey look at that last game, go, hey,
- 43:23Speaker 1: we did good enough. Yeah, that's great. So that's it
- 43:27Speaker 1: feels pretty good to see that. Even Paul's other station,
- 43:30Speaker 1: they're really giving thanks to Robert Kraft for finally putting
- 43:34Speaker 1: his foot down. Yeah. So actually we're going to talk
- 43:37Speaker 1: about somebody from another station, mister Hurt, who used to
- 43:40Speaker 1: be there with you guys, who actually brought up Todd Monken.
- 43:43Speaker 1: I think I think Evan mentioned him, but he said
- 43:46Speaker 1: basically that the QB that's in Georgia right now, it's
- 43:49Speaker 1: kind of like a mac guy. You know, he's got
- 43:51Speaker 1: some stuff, but not a lot of stuff. Needs a
- 43:53Speaker 1: little work in that little destity that Todd did a
- 43:56Speaker 1: really good job. He's like forty years old. Yeah, yeah,
- 44:03Speaker 1: I get Andy's point. This is what guys that he's
- 44:08Speaker 1: gotten a lot out of. Yeah, Todd Monkin's a good coach,
- 44:11Speaker 1: But Todd Monkins system is in the arians tree, So
- 44:15Speaker 1: that's an air it out, let's throw it, chuck it,
- 44:17Speaker 1: and Duckett type of system. Now, obviously if he came here,
- 44:20Speaker 1: maybe it would be a little bit different. But you
- 44:22Speaker 1: talk about friends of Belichick. He's coaching under Kirby Smart
- 44:25Speaker 1: right now at Georgia, friend of Bill, So maybe there
- 44:28Speaker 1: is a connection there potentially, which is why I thought
- 44:31Speaker 1: Todd Monkin's name could be in the running, because it
- 44:33Speaker 1: sounds like Monkin would like to get back in the
- 44:36Speaker 1: NFL because he's also being linked to the Tampa job,
- 44:39Speaker 1: So there's there's yes, yeah, And he's also been in
- 44:45Speaker 1: the NFL with Cleveland, as he has some NFL coaching
- 44:48Speaker 1: experience and play calling experience. I think the difficult thing
- 44:51Speaker 1: and I know that you can say the same thing
- 44:53Speaker 1: to a degree about Alabama, although their their offense this
- 44:56Speaker 1: year wasn't quite as talented as we're used to seeing
- 44:59Speaker 1: at Alabama. When you hire a guy like Monkin and
- 45:03Speaker 1: a guy like Bill O'Brien for that. How much of
- 45:05Speaker 1: it is that Georgia this has much better players than
- 45:08Speaker 1: everybody else, Right, it's because there's his stint in the
- 45:12Speaker 1: NFL wasn't quite as successful as he's been at Georgia.
- 45:16Speaker 1: And I understand sets, and Bennett's not as super toolsy quarterback,
- 45:19Speaker 1: but he's throwing a five stars all over the field
- 45:21Speaker 1: and two tight ends that are going to get drafted
- 45:23Speaker 1: in the first round, and Fred likes the only one
- 45:26Speaker 1: that's not going to get drafted. Yeah, I mean, it's
- 45:28Speaker 1: just they got they got talent all over the place.
- 45:31Speaker 1: Bill O'Brien coaches Bryce Young, who wins a hisman that
- 45:34Speaker 1: comes back and throws forty touchdowns the next year. So
- 45:37Speaker 1: I don't know how much of that you really that
- 45:39Speaker 1: is a factor in all of this. I would say
- 45:42Speaker 1: that you got to take into consideration that Georgia is
- 45:45Speaker 1: just the best team in college football by a landslide.
- 45:49Speaker 1: Thank you, duh. Let's go to Joel in San Antonio.
- 45:54Speaker 1: What's up? Joel? Hey, Fred, thank you for taking my call.
- 45:58Speaker 1: I appreciate it. And shit, everything that everybody uh does continuously. Um,
- 46:04Speaker 1: just a quick comment and a question if I may,
- 46:07Speaker 1: uh Evan my brother. Uh? When when you first started, uh,
- 46:13Speaker 1: I thought that, I mean, who is this guy with
- 46:16Speaker 1: the funny sounding voice? Not that I don't have one myself,
- 46:18Speaker 1: but um, as I as I started to listen to
- 46:22Speaker 1: you more and more, brother man, you take me to
- 46:24Speaker 1: school every single day with your knowledge. Thank you. I
- 46:27Speaker 1: really appreciate it and appreciate Mike for the higher Uh
- 46:31Speaker 1: really knocked it out of the park with that. Uh.
- 46:35Speaker 1: And now I know this is Patriots unfiltered and not
- 46:38Speaker 1: Brady unfiltered, but just out of curiosity. Uh. Do you
- 46:42Speaker 1: guys think that with Brady most likely playing somewhere else
- 46:47Speaker 1: uh this upcoming season and maybe somewhere somewhere else in
- 46:52Speaker 1: the following years because he wants to play till his
- 46:55Speaker 1: fifty eight, probably would his legacy be tarnished because of
- 47:00Speaker 1: uh that, you know, playing for a number of different
- 47:04Speaker 1: teams just chasing whatever he is. I think it depends
- 47:08Speaker 1: up all right, thanks Joe. I mean it depends on
- 47:14Speaker 1: how he does. Yeah, I totally. I mean, if he
- 47:16Speaker 1: goes to Vegas and wins the Super Bowl, that helps
- 47:19Speaker 1: his legacy. If he if he craps out here and
- 47:22Speaker 1: you know, this was the beginning of the end this
- 47:24Speaker 1: season and he has like another year and it's bad.
- 47:28Speaker 1: He says, I can't go out like that, and it's
- 47:29Speaker 1: another bad year. Then I think he spoils the legacy.
- 47:32Speaker 1: I'm now his legacy is intact as what he is,
- 47:35Speaker 1: but it does definitely tarnish it a little bit. If
- 47:38Speaker 1: you know, like Willie Mays is the you know, the
- 47:41Speaker 1: time tested example of that and one of the greatest
- 47:43Speaker 1: players who's ever played when out with a whimper, right,
- 47:47Speaker 1: And but you know, with Willie May May, he'll still
- 47:51Speaker 1: be Tom Brady. But like he didn't live. He didn't
- 47:55Speaker 1: do what he said he was going to do, which
- 47:56Speaker 1: was I'm going to stop playing when I suck. Yeah,
- 47:59Speaker 1: you know, it's I mean, it takes a lot of
- 48:01Speaker 1: cajones to sign back up again and know that it
- 48:03Speaker 1: could fall the wheels could fall off the bus. And
- 48:05Speaker 1: I've always felt like he's just so competitive and obsessed
- 48:08Speaker 1: that he will go one season too far. Um, you know,
- 48:11Speaker 1: I just I don't think he'd be able to walk
- 48:13Speaker 1: away when he can still play kind of good. I
- 48:15Speaker 1: think he has to suck and that's when he'll know
- 48:16Speaker 1: in his time. And that means where do you guys
- 48:19Speaker 1: think he goes next year? Vegas? I mean, it makes
- 48:22Speaker 1: so much. Just how are they gonna pay him? That's because, man,
- 48:25Speaker 1: all I heard all the years was how Vegas has
- 48:27Speaker 1: no money and that they're you know, but he is
- 48:29Speaker 1: he gonna ask for if you don't have to explain
- 48:31Speaker 1: this maybe again, do I know? Well, but cash? I mean,
- 48:34Speaker 1: he'sn't even gonna want cash. You're not gonna be able
- 48:35Speaker 1: to do a long deal with all kinds of voids,
- 48:37Speaker 1: but you could do it one year. I mean, did
- 48:39Speaker 1: you give it? I mean, I don't think it's gonna
- 48:40Speaker 1: He's not gonna like a million cash. I don't think
- 48:42Speaker 1: he's gonna demand like you know, top of the market money.
- 48:45Speaker 1: I think, do what he always does. Yeah, and you know,
- 48:48Speaker 1: even though you don't want him for more than a
- 48:51Speaker 1: year or two, he could do the deal anyway. And
- 48:54Speaker 1: you know those last years are just phony years. Yeah,
- 48:56Speaker 1: but he's Mike's talking about the cash. I just think
- 48:58Speaker 1: that thirty million, you gotta give him thirty millions, that's true,
- 49:01Speaker 1: but I think I mean, if they can't do that,
- 49:04Speaker 1: then they really need to sell it. But thirty millions
- 49:07Speaker 1: not extreme, and I just I also just wondered for Josh, like,
- 49:09Speaker 1: you know, I like that's just it's kind of resignation
- 49:12Speaker 1: of just like no one's gonna say I can do
- 49:14Speaker 1: it without Tom Brady, you know, like there's got to
- 49:15Speaker 1: be something in him that wants to what what if
- 49:18Speaker 1: simultaneously he brings in a young guy, you know and
- 49:22Speaker 1: sets the sets the stage. Yeah, you know, perhaps perhaps
- 49:25Speaker 1: you know it's all we hear about here is it
- 49:26Speaker 1: can't hurt a young guy to like but Tom Brady.
- 49:29Speaker 1: For you, are you saying, like, draft a guy in
- 49:31Speaker 1: the first round. Yeah, I don't know if that makes
- 49:33Speaker 1: a lot of sense. If you're gonna bring in Tom Brady,
- 49:35Speaker 1: you gotta maximize Tom Brady. No, you got to give
- 49:37Speaker 1: him something that can help protect them. What do you mean?
- 49:41Speaker 1: I think in the first round you gotta take a
- 49:42Speaker 1: guy who's gonna help the team, not a backup quarterback. Like,
- 49:47Speaker 1: if you're bringing in Brady, you're bringing him in to
- 49:49Speaker 1: win right now, right so you don't think that they're
- 49:51Speaker 1: ready to win right now? I don't know based on
- 49:54Speaker 1: last year. No, Like the defense is a mess. Evans
- 49:57Speaker 1: point about the offensive line is valid. I've heard you're
- 50:00Speaker 1: you're you know you're you a mentor Greg Badar talking
- 50:05Speaker 1: how well the offensive lines is, like, you know, they
- 50:07Speaker 1: got a rookie at this guard. No, I think they
- 50:09Speaker 1: did have an injury at center right. Yeah, they had
- 50:11Speaker 1: some injuries at right Taxi too, But Dylan Partam the
- 50:14Speaker 1: rookie he was talking about as a good player. No,
- 50:16Speaker 1: I know that, but maybe they're a little bit better
- 50:18Speaker 1: on the offensive line went healthy than they looked at Ship.
- 50:20Speaker 1: But that was a train wreck. I just look at
- 50:22Speaker 1: the season. I just look at their running game with
- 50:24Speaker 1: Jacobs and Yakub and the way that McDaniel schemes it
- 50:28Speaker 1: up in the run games. I just look at that
- 50:30Speaker 1: and say, Okay, well he won't have to throw at
- 50:32Speaker 1: eight hundred times like he had to this year. People
- 50:35Speaker 1: talking about how he looked skinnish in the pocket, and
- 50:37Speaker 1: you know how he wore down a little bit through
- 50:40Speaker 1: its seven hundred and ninety nine times at forty five
- 50:42Speaker 1: years old, sixty six passes. You're gonna be under pressure
- 50:45Speaker 1: on right with Michael Parsons coming off the edge like
- 50:49Speaker 1: he just that was I think the biggest thing that
- 50:52Speaker 1: they missed in Tampa this year was their running game
- 50:55Speaker 1: was terrible. They couldn't run the ball at all. And
- 50:58Speaker 1: if you have a forty five year old quarterback, maybe
- 51:00Speaker 1: he's got thirty good drop backs in him the game,
- 51:03Speaker 1: but he doesn't have sixty at this point of his career.
- 51:06Speaker 1: And with Jacobs and their under center run game and
- 51:08Speaker 1: then play action off of it and Adams on the
- 51:11Speaker 1: outside and Renfro in the slot like that, just that
- 51:13Speaker 1: offense just fits any chance for like Sean Payton and
- 51:18Speaker 1: him say with Carolina, sure you know pay both those guys,
- 51:25Speaker 1: I think, Yeah, I'm with you guys. I think if
- 51:27Speaker 1: he's going somewhere or to be the Raiders, But well,
- 51:30Speaker 1: I mean seems so obvious. What if what if in
- 51:34Speaker 1: the next round this weekend, San Francisco's offense just gets
- 51:38Speaker 1: exposed with Purdy. I mean, like they've got all those weapons,
- 51:40Speaker 1: but Purdy just I just don't think you could ever
- 51:44Speaker 1: rule out San Francisco, right what I'm saying, system and
- 51:46Speaker 1: the people they have around him, and it seemed like
- 51:48Speaker 1: it would be but for him, Yeah, it would have
- 51:50Speaker 1: to be um a crap. Like if Purdy wins the
- 51:53Speaker 1: Super Bowl, yeah, you know, everybody would be impressed with that,
- 51:57Speaker 1: except exactly well said. But you know you have to
- 52:02Speaker 1: look at it and call. You have to see what
- 52:03Speaker 1: was his part of winning that? You know? Yeah? Um now,
- 52:07Speaker 1: but what I'm saying it would make no sense to
- 52:10Speaker 1: me to bring in Tom Brady if you win a
- 52:12Speaker 1: Super Bowl? Right, what if he does nothing until the
- 52:15Speaker 1: last drive in the Super Bowl and he puts the
- 52:17Speaker 1: game winning drive together. Listen, very smart football people, I
- 52:22Speaker 1: mean he beat the Seahawks at home as a two
- 52:24Speaker 1: seed quarterback. I mean Tampa Bay, very smart football people
- 52:28Speaker 1: talked like that about Tom Brady. Tampa Bay just hand raised.
- 52:32Speaker 1: Tampa Bay just fired the roc Like does that make
- 52:35Speaker 1: Brady happier? Or did he care? Well? Like Bill Bryant,
- 52:38Speaker 1: Does Bill O'Brien go to Tampa which he was rumored
- 52:41Speaker 1: to do last year because they wanted to replace left
- 52:43Speaker 1: which and does that make Brady stay? Now? I saw
- 52:45Speaker 1: Edelman had a statement that said, uh, hell yeah, he's
- 52:49Speaker 1: playing one, but definitely not in Tampa Bay. So I
- 52:52Speaker 1: don't know what what happened like to Edelman. No to
- 52:56Speaker 1: that team. I mean, I know Edman said they can't run,
- 52:58Speaker 1: but I mean, like, I look, he's still got Godwin
- 53:01Speaker 1: and Evans and The only reason why I won't say
- 53:03Speaker 1: it's over for Brady. I mean two reasons. One is
- 53:07Speaker 1: I'm afraid I'll fully admit I'm afraid. I'm afraid to say,
- 53:10Speaker 1: all right, he broke me downe, so would you want
- 53:13Speaker 1: all right? I'm afraid to say that he's done. But
- 53:15Speaker 1: in the back of my mind, I've said this a
- 53:17Speaker 1: million times in this show, I just think there's a
- 53:19Speaker 1: chance that it was all because he wasn't prepared for
- 53:21Speaker 1: the season. Likely he retires, he comes back, he's obviously
- 53:26Speaker 1: going through incredible turmoil at home, and then he leaves
- 53:29Speaker 1: training camp for eleven days. He had no offseason like
- 53:33Speaker 1: he normally does, and then he didn't even have training
- 53:35Speaker 1: camp like he normally does. So in the back of
- 53:37Speaker 1: my mind, I'm wondering, was it just because he wasn't
- 53:40Speaker 1: ready and that really hurt the team? And plus what
- 53:42Speaker 1: was his mindset? You know, with the divorce and everything.
- 53:44Speaker 1: I also affect him. The way that he played and
- 53:48Speaker 1: down the stretch reminded me so much of the way
- 53:50Speaker 1: he played in nineteen. And that's why I can't say
- 53:53Speaker 1: that he's done, Because if he goes to an offense
- 53:56Speaker 1: that's buttoned up better and has a better situation than
- 53:59Speaker 1: what's to say, he's not gonna look like he didn't.
- 54:00Speaker 1: Be honest with you, I thought he looked like the
- 54:02Speaker 1: nineteen version of himself last year. If you go back
- 54:06Speaker 1: and watch that Rams playoff game, yeah, he spent half
- 54:09Speaker 1: the game pouting. Yeah, you know, and they ended up
- 54:13Speaker 1: making the comeback. But if you recall, it was kind
- 54:15Speaker 1: of a like people that watched that one of those
- 54:18Speaker 1: comebacks that was like, how many times are the Rams
- 54:20Speaker 1: gonna fumble in this game? Right? You know? But what
- 54:23Speaker 1: happened to Evans and Godwin? What happened to that? People
- 54:25Speaker 1: that watched that team a lot say that Godwin, even
- 54:28Speaker 1: though he put up stats, was not the same receiver
- 54:31Speaker 1: he was before the ACA, and with Evans. I didn't
- 54:35Speaker 1: see that. With Evans. I think that they for some reason,
- 54:40Speaker 1: they were never fully on the same page. Oh that
- 54:43Speaker 1: was And even though he put up numbers two another
- 54:47Speaker 1: he has like ten straight thousand yard seasons or something
- 54:49Speaker 1: like that, it just wasn't as buttoned up. But with
- 54:53Speaker 1: Godwin in particular, no explosive this. Yeah that's what he was.
- 54:56Speaker 1: That's what made him different. He was an explosive slide right,
- 54:59Speaker 1: I don't think he and they had no run game. Really,
- 55:01Speaker 1: it wasn't consistent, no, and that's then they lost a
- 55:04Speaker 1: lot of linemen. You know, Wait, think about how desperate
- 55:06Speaker 1: they were. They had a guy that went on IR
- 55:08Speaker 1: like the second day of training camp and camp. I mean,
- 55:12Speaker 1: obviously they didn't place them on IR and training camp
- 55:14Speaker 1: because he wouldn't have been able to come back. But
- 55:16Speaker 1: he missed the entire season from the second day of
- 55:19Speaker 1: training camp until the Monday night game, and then he
- 55:22Speaker 1: started crazy. Right. That's just why what I can't quite
- 55:25Speaker 1: resign is just that he's going to Tampa. They're stacked,
- 55:28Speaker 1: and it's like, I mean, I know there's some different pieces,
- 55:30Speaker 1: but Gronk wasn't even with the team at that time,
- 55:31Speaker 1: and I'm like, it's still kind of the same team.
- 55:33Speaker 1: Like what they were a good team, Tampa had good talent.
- 55:37Speaker 1: He made them stacked. Brandon's in Oregon. What's up? Brandon?
- 55:42Speaker 1: It was going on? Now? How you guys doing good? Good? So,
- 55:46Speaker 1: I guess got a couple of things here. Looking at
- 55:48Speaker 1: the O line. How many guys do we have coming
- 55:51Speaker 1: back even if they're free agents? Right now? Out of
- 55:54Speaker 1: the five starters on the old line who you all
- 55:56Speaker 1: got coming back next year and starting, Well, you can't.
- 55:58Speaker 1: You can't count mcderh him as a starter. He was
- 56:01Speaker 1: a fill in, right would I would be I would
- 56:03Speaker 1: be counting wins this yeah, and I don't think he's
- 56:06Speaker 1: not coming back. I would say, you need at least
- 56:07Speaker 1: a right tackle, and you very very well need a
- 56:10Speaker 1: left tackle to the interior three. I think stay the same, yeah,
- 56:15Speaker 1: yea sons I didn't say, I think the question. Yeah,
- 56:22Speaker 1: So they just don't think about Trent Brown. That I
- 56:24Speaker 1: I just learned this week is that he hit all
- 56:27Speaker 1: of his playing time incentives this year, so his cap
- 56:31Speaker 1: hit went from like eight million to like eleven and
- 56:34Speaker 1: a half million because of the bonuses in his contract
- 56:36Speaker 1: for the playing time. So now he's due next year. Yeah,
- 56:42Speaker 1: So his twenty twenty three cap number is now I
- 56:45Speaker 1: think eleven and a half or twelve and a half
- 56:47Speaker 1: million dollars for next year with very little dead cap,
- 56:50Speaker 1: so they could cut him and save about ten million
- 56:53Speaker 1: bucks on the cap. And that also, I didn't even
- 56:56Speaker 1: think of that during the year. I don't know how
- 56:58Speaker 1: those are the kinds of things pauses too, maybe you know,
- 57:01Speaker 1: I always say he's always down to miss four or
- 57:03Speaker 1: five games, and I didn't even think of it. That's
- 57:05Speaker 1: very unlike me. You remember him like dragging himself out
- 57:08Speaker 1: of the locker room because he's sick, you know before,
- 57:11Speaker 1: And he played all those games, didn't play well in
- 57:13Speaker 1: any of them, but he played them all. So this
- 57:15Speaker 1: gets into likely to be earned incentives and not likely
- 57:18Speaker 1: to be earned. So going into the year, all of
- 57:20Speaker 1: his playing time incentives were not likely to be earned
- 57:22Speaker 1: because he was hurt in twenty twenty one, and he
- 57:25Speaker 1: hit all of them. So now they hit the twenty
- 57:27Speaker 1: twenty three cap instead of the twenty twenty two cap,
- 57:29Speaker 1: so that contract is no longer a team. He's a
- 57:33Speaker 1: flight risk. He's a definite candidate to not be bad.
- 57:36Speaker 1: I'm so torn on this one because I feel like
- 57:39Speaker 1: they see him as a planet player that just has
- 57:42Speaker 1: unique size, And certainly every issue that Paul has brought
- 57:45Speaker 1: up is absolutely true. I just when I don't know
- 57:48Speaker 1: how you go to no tackles, and I can certainly
- 57:51Speaker 1: make an argument for it based on how he played
- 57:52Speaker 1: this year and how I felt at times about how
- 57:54Speaker 1: invested he was in the team, and I just don't
- 57:56Speaker 1: think he's that good. I mean, I think he can
- 57:58Speaker 1: be good at times. I'm not telling on you. I've
- 58:00Speaker 1: never seen him play well. I've never really seen him
- 58:03Speaker 1: play all that well for a consistent period of time.
- 58:05Speaker 1: He got really good down the stretch in eighteen when
- 58:08Speaker 1: Dante finally got through to him, but that wasn't the
- 58:11Speaker 1: whole season. I got one more thing too for you, guys,
- 58:15Speaker 1: Paul before I before I get off the line here,
- 58:17Speaker 1: but I agree. I mean, I hope crowns. I hope
- 58:19Speaker 1: Brown's back, but man, I'm gonna stay him ten miles.
- 58:21Speaker 1: Maybe you'll let him walk. But uh, anyways, Yeah, Hey,
- 58:24Speaker 1: Christian Gonzalez, cornerback from Oregon, Patriot's first round pick. Look
- 58:29Speaker 1: him up, Paul, look him up, Evan. Let me know
- 58:31Speaker 1: what you think. I'll call you back next, all right,
- 58:33Speaker 1: go ducks. I've been starting to get a little bit
- 58:35Speaker 1: into first round draft guys, and I have the Shrine
- 58:39Speaker 1: Bowl and Senior Bowl coming up as well. But Gonzalez
- 58:42Speaker 1: from Oregon, I watched him a little bit against Jordan Addison.
- 58:45Speaker 1: I've been trying to do that more this year, Like,
- 58:47Speaker 1: let's watch NFL players against NFL trick, right, Let's not
- 58:50Speaker 1: watch him against guys that are going to be accountants,
- 58:52Speaker 1: you know in the fall and Sonny's car wash attendance, right,
- 58:56Speaker 1: and uh, he's a lot. They have a lot of
- 58:59Speaker 1: the draft class and he's one of them, a guy
- 59:01Speaker 1: from Oregon. A lot of really long, bigger outside corners
- 59:05Speaker 1: in this class. Like this is not a this is
- 59:07Speaker 1: not a Marcus Jones cornerback class. There's gonna be guys
- 59:11Speaker 1: that are going to measure in at six one six
- 59:13Speaker 1: two with length and size that can play on the outside.
- 59:16Speaker 1: So this is a deeper cornerback class. There's no sauce
- 59:20Speaker 1: gardener in this class. But it's similar to the wide
- 59:23Speaker 1: receivers where from ten to one hundred there's probably gonna
- 59:27Speaker 1: be fifteen of these guys that go off the board.
- 59:29Speaker 1: So it's a good class. All right, We're gonna take
- 59:31Speaker 1: a break, eat some food. When we come back. More
- 59:33Speaker 1: calls and emails and picks. Can't forget that here on

- 1:13:25Speaker 1: are you so dismissive. I'm not so dismissive. You know.
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: Why do you think they chose five letter words that
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: the most common number of the English language? I don't.
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: I don't know, but it's uh, that would be. It's

- 1:14:15Speaker 1: How do you still playing words up that phase? I know?
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: I used to play quartal Deuce got me on on
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: word a while back, and I've been pretty I would say,
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: not every single day, but most days the same. I
- 1:14:29Speaker 1: read a little something about it. Um controversy, No, no
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: controversy at all, but just um, those that use the
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: same first word every day? Yeah, and then what is
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: the word if you use it? Yeah? Um, do you
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: use the same word? I do not. I do not
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: use the same word every day. I'm usually swear than
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: mount depending on how it goes. You like to get
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: the E A and R out of the way. Yeah,
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: So I go with the Deuce theory because he taught
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: me how to play the game, and much like everything else,
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: I just follow his lead. Um, so I do use swear.
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: But I heard um some of the people uh use
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: crane crane cr an e yes, So I used that
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: and I found myself like all thrown off. I know, right,
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: because you just your brain kind of gets into a
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: rhythm when they don't come up. So I'm back to swear. Yeah, no,
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: I I I shake it up. It's a perfect little
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: thing to you know, start. They can't watch. He has

- 1:15:33Speaker 1: to kind of get the vowels out of the way. Yeah,
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: you got to get those vowels. Yeah, but the repeating
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: letter is never pay I know what it is. We're
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: gonna have some, but I'm gonna give having a lot
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: of credit because he didn't do what Eric did and

- 1:16:06Speaker 1: it will be before the game runs out. Yeah, that
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: was today's Oh don't say I didn't do it today.
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: I think it was an It was definitely a double
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: letter word. Oh come on, guy, Okay, um, I don't care.
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: I don't really keep track of my status. Do you

- 1:16:30Speaker 1: so that's good. Nobody really does it to the world anymore.
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: I see it once in a while at always Megan A.
- 1:16:36Speaker 1: Brian still does. It always makes me wonder, like, what
- 1:16:41Speaker 1: do you do unless you got one or two? I
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: don't care. I never got These games are addicting. Yeah,
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: I just I don't know. I guess I'm just addicted
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: to have Have you ever got it in one twenty two?
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: Have you ever got Lucky? No, it's never been. It's
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: gonna be swearing one of these times. So this is
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: the god's honest truth. The day that I got it
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: in one, obviously, it's just luck. Andy Hart and Megan
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: we're going back and forth and Wordle and I go,
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: what game are we talking about? Because I had like
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: I had that in my back pocket. And Megan says Wordle,
- 1:17:15Speaker 1: I go, oh, you mean Today's and you know I
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: shared it and and he's like, you didn't do that.
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: You went to a different device. You did it on
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: your laptop and then you did it on your phone
- 1:17:24Speaker 1: something like that. Yeah, Megan. Yeah, anyway, So Tony Flanagan
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: our tone trusty camera guy, put me on Hurdle. It's
- 1:17:37Speaker 1: music clips like music videos. Yeah. Well you listen like
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: it's like named that two. Yeah, so you get like
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: I think five little clips, like two seconds. It goes
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: up to like seventeen seconds and you have to type
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: in the name of the song. What's the football one? Evan?
- 1:17:51Speaker 1: Probably good at that one that might be in your jam. Oh,
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: what's this past concept? That was it? But they have
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: a seventies version of hurdle and seventies please do the
- 1:18:06Speaker 1: seventies in the eighties. Yeah, it's amazing how many more
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: of those I get than the actual one that's current.
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: So is it multiple choice or you have to it plays?
- 1:18:17Speaker 1: You have to type it in. But it has a
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: search engine. Sorry, a search engine, um that you So
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: when you start typing in some letters, it'll come up
- 1:18:26Speaker 1: and you click on it's smart type whatever they cook
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: there you go. How long are we going here? All right,
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: We'll go as long as I want. It's the off
- 1:18:34Speaker 1: seasons five hundred is the a ticket outline web radio
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: at Patrice dot com. We gotta leave room for picks,
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: don't forget. Yeah, we got four games so big weekend
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: when we did off air mentioned a significant development league wide.
- 1:18:49Speaker 1: Greg Roman, how it is Raven's offensive coordinator. I'm worried, guys,
- 1:18:53Speaker 1: you're worried that we're not gonna get Lamar. Now that's
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: ten offensive coordinator vacancies. And if you really look at
- 1:18:59Speaker 1: the list of offensive coordinator vacancies, where are the Patriots
- 1:19:02Speaker 1: in terms of desirability on this list? I mean middle careful.
- 1:19:06Speaker 1: I don't know if Baltimore is gonna have Lamar Jackson,
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: so I guess that that still remains to be seen.
- 1:19:12Speaker 1: But the Chargers with Herbert is easily number one, right
- 1:19:16Speaker 1: Lamar if he's in Baltimore, is going to be number two.
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: It just you're looking at being at the fourth or
- 1:19:23Speaker 1: fifth best option on the table right now. So there
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: was there confirmed friction between Greg Roman and Lamar Jackson?
- 1:19:29Speaker 1: Or is this just kind of like like because is
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: it crazy to think that another team, this is impossible
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: that another team would say let's grab grab Roman and
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: then trying to make a play for Lamar and put
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: that back together. That no. So I think the biggest
- 1:19:41Speaker 1: issue that they've had with Greg Roman is his passing
- 1:19:44Speaker 1: concepts are very rudimentary and just never really opened up
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: any sort of dynamic passing game outside of Lamar's MVP season.
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: So there's been a lot of angst in Baltimore about
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: Greg Roman. And yeah, the the run concepts are great,
- 1:20:01Speaker 1: but how much have we really developed as a passing
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: offense in his tenure? And I don't know. I don't
- 1:20:07Speaker 1: think that that's a great relationship between him and Lamar.
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: I mean, if it was a great relationship, to you
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: a point, Mike, you know, like the Jets hire him, right,
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: That's what I mean. And then you bring in like
- 1:20:17Speaker 1: ro right right right, you have the Ravens, Bucks, Chargers, Commanders, Titans, Rams,
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: which obviously is mcvay's show, Jets, Patriots, Colton, Cardinals now
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: all looking for offensive court. Yeah, I would have the
- 1:20:31Speaker 1: Patriots like firmly in the middle of that pack, I
- 1:20:34Speaker 1: would say, I would say, but but I mean I
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: would like mac Jones or Carlo Murray, Mac Jones of
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: Justin Herbert, you know, like like I Mac Jones, Lamar Jackson,
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: I think you're the middle of the pack. Now. I
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: would rather be Commanders Tannehill, like the Commanders don't have
- 1:20:53Speaker 1: an answer, um Tennessee, I would say, is on part
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: not because of Tannehill being any great shape. But it's
- 1:21:00Speaker 1: still the Titans, and I think they have a good
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: program program, and uh, you know, Dereck Henry's still there.
- 1:21:06Speaker 1: I don't know if he's still King Henry. But because
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: I wonder, like, you know, Evan, you mentioned, you know
- 1:21:11Speaker 1: the Rams, it's mcvay's show, Titans. I would put the
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: Rams ahead Titans. You know, it's Mike Rabel, but he's
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: a defensive guy. So do you have confidence if you're
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: going to be the new woe see there? I'm pretty
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: much gonna have my way because Rabel's gonna, like, you know,
- 1:21:26Speaker 1: hand it to me, you know, hand the offense over
- 1:21:28Speaker 1: to me. I just I look at it as if
- 1:21:30Speaker 1: you're an offensive coach. And how you said you'd take
- 1:21:32Speaker 1: macover Kyler, But Kyler sealing is so much higher than
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: Mac Jones. Is that if you can be the coach
- 1:21:38Speaker 1: that gets Kyler Evan playing well. Kyler Murray was the
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: Patriots quarterback and Mac Jones was the Cardinals quarterback. He
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: wouldn't take Mac Jones over Kyler Murray. That's what it
- 1:21:48Speaker 1: comes down to, though, right, is that you want to
- 1:21:50Speaker 1: be in a position that's gonna make you look good
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: and if you're the guy that comes in and Kyler
- 1:21:56Speaker 1: plays like he did a couple of years ago when
- 1:21:59Speaker 1: they were what like eight or nine to no, it's
- 1:22:02Speaker 1: you're gonna look great and he's gonna make you look
- 1:22:04Speaker 1: great because he's super talented. I mean, he's got some flaws,
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: but he's super talented. It's it's hard with like Tennessee, though,
- 1:22:09Speaker 1: you gotta go and you're getting Derrick Henry for all
- 1:22:11Speaker 1: the good and all the bad that comes with that,
- 1:22:13Speaker 1: it's kind of you know, I would just worry that
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: that's an offense that's kind of on its last sniff
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: before it's gotta But that's why I would put it
- 1:22:19Speaker 1: in the middle. I wouldn't put that like, I definitely
- 1:22:21Speaker 1: think the ones that ever mentioned with you know, the
- 1:22:25Speaker 1: Chargers and the Rams and the Cardinals, they you know,
- 1:22:29Speaker 1: the Ravens assuming Lamar, those would be at the top.
- 1:22:33Speaker 1: You know. I wouldn't put Tennessee up there with them.
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: That would put them clearly. Just different issues for every team.
- 1:22:39Speaker 1: You know, wherever you go, there's something you're gonna Now
- 1:22:42Speaker 1: the Jets they're all looking for one because the Jets
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: have no quarterback. Like so I would put that below
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: the pill like, I would rather have Mac Jones than nobody,
- 1:22:50Speaker 1: Like that's what the Jets have. No, But I'm saying,
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: if you're if you're no flaws, because if you're if
- 1:22:57Speaker 1: you're like stacking up talent overall offensive talent. I think
- 1:23:00Speaker 1: the Jets have more. But you can't just say, well, yeah,
- 1:23:04Speaker 1: they have everything except the quarterback. Okay, well what are
- 1:23:08Speaker 1: you winning without a quarterback? Ben's in Maryland? What's up? Ben? Hi? Guys,
- 1:23:13Speaker 1: how are you doing good? Um? You guys just touched
- 1:23:16Speaker 1: on it. But with like ten teams now wanting offensive,
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: when do you expect the Patriots to name name one
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: next week? This week? Also? Would that bring another scheme
- 1:23:27Speaker 1: change to the Patriots West coast heavy zone? Like, oh,
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: would you go to the um like another scheme change?
- 1:23:34Speaker 1: That's all I was asking. Yeah, No, it's a good question.
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: I mean I would think that all Okay, he doesn't
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: want to wait for the off take it off air.
- 1:23:42Speaker 1: I would think all the teams that are gonna fire
- 1:23:44Speaker 1: ocs have done it right, like the four the eight
- 1:23:46Speaker 1: teams that are left just today twenty minutes ago. I know,
- 1:23:50Speaker 1: but they just lost the eight teams that have left,
- 1:23:53Speaker 1: do you think any of those are candidates to fire
- 1:23:55Speaker 1: the OC. I don't think so. Yeah. So I mean,
- 1:23:59Speaker 1: like might be waiting to see who you know shakes loose,
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: and I think all the shaking loose is done. So
- 1:24:06Speaker 1: now now you know the field, there's nothing to wait for,
- 1:24:11Speaker 1: make your pick. So I would think in a week
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: or two, you know, crazy, I think you got to
- 1:24:16Speaker 1: move faster. Arizona last on that list to NBC sports
- 1:24:19Speaker 1: Boss attracts crazy Barth probably did that himself right there.
- 1:24:24Speaker 1: Oh I'm sorry, it's sports Boss. It's confused because he
- 1:24:31Speaker 1: was on their second. I think you got to move quicker, well,
- 1:24:34Speaker 1: in a week, faster than a week or two. Yeah,
- 1:24:37Speaker 1: because it's gonna start. They're gonna start falling fast. And
- 1:24:40Speaker 1: now all of a sudden, guys that are really desirable
- 1:24:42Speaker 1: that maybe you have already have as an interview set
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: up with or something like that, now they got five
- 1:24:47Speaker 1: interviews that they're going on and now it's a it's
- 1:24:50Speaker 1: a bidding war for their services. And I just I
- 1:24:53Speaker 1: really think that you got to move quickly. I said,
- 1:24:55Speaker 1: the combine was like my original deadline. But now that
- 1:24:59Speaker 1: we see some of these jobs that are coming available,
- 1:25:02Speaker 1: this is a. This is going to be a big
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: turnover an offensive coordinators. I mean, it's almost half the
- 1:25:06Speaker 1: third of the league needs a coordinator. Yeah, so you
- 1:25:09Speaker 1: always run the risk of, you know, that one team
- 1:25:11Speaker 1: that gets the guy they want in the house and
- 1:25:12Speaker 1: say you're not leaving here without signing this, and if
- 1:25:16Speaker 1: you do leave here, that deals off the table and
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: that takes him off your table. But I don't know.
- 1:25:21Speaker 1: I think, you know, there's a lot for all teams
- 1:25:23Speaker 1: to consider. I think it's going to take at least
- 1:25:25Speaker 1: a week to you know, for hirings to start. And
- 1:25:28Speaker 1: how much does the Shrine Bowl thing complicated a little bit?
- 1:25:31Speaker 1: I mean you've got the whole organization heading out to
- 1:25:33Speaker 1: Vegas for a week from tomorrow. That is a fact.
- 1:25:36Speaker 1: I mean, I'm sure Bill can do interviews remotely, but
- 1:25:38Speaker 1: I mean, I mean it could be a good thing.
- 1:25:39Speaker 1: I mean it could we have a lot of games
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: there for the Pro Bowl and you know, maybe it's
- 1:25:43Speaker 1: you have the interviews come to him. Yeah, all the
- 1:25:45Speaker 1: teams are gonna be there. Is it required? I mean,
- 1:25:48Speaker 1: this is a dead serious question. Is it required that
- 1:25:50Speaker 1: Bill is at the Shrine Bowl? No? No, it's not.
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: Usually the head coach of the team actually hands over
- 1:25:57Speaker 1: the team to a top level assistance. So maybe Drod
- 1:26:01Speaker 1: Mayo will will run This is your first order a
- 1:26:05Speaker 1: business as assistant head coaches, right, going through the stuff
- 1:26:07Speaker 1: I don't want to do. Yeah, usually the head coaches
- 1:26:10Speaker 1: are there, but they're they're more for fun and and
- 1:26:12Speaker 1: and for Would you be surprised to see Bill at
- 1:26:14Speaker 1: the Senior Bowl? No? No, I mean I mean because
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: especially with the Shrine Bowl will end, so he'll he'll
- 1:26:22Speaker 1: probably end up there. But I mean I think both
- 1:26:23Speaker 1: those spots are such you know, big NFL meeting points
- 1:26:26Speaker 1: at this time, that there probably will be a lot
- 1:26:28Speaker 1: of business getting done on the side while everybody's in
- 1:26:30Speaker 1: Vegas and Mobile. Yeah. Um, Jerry's in North Carolina. I
- 1:26:35Speaker 1: hate Jerry. Hey Jerry, Hello, Yeah, Hey, hello Jerry. What
- 1:26:41Speaker 1: was going on? Fellows even there? Yeah? I am Evan.
- 1:26:46Speaker 1: I owe you an apology, Bladdy. I've been trying to
- 1:26:48Speaker 1: apologize to see you for about a year now. Oh. Um,
- 1:26:52Speaker 1: we got into it a little bit breakup o the
- 1:26:55Speaker 1: Cambon situation, and I was in my feelings and as
- 1:26:58Speaker 1: a man, I want to apologize. Oh that's all right,
- 1:27:01Speaker 1: don't worry about it. Thanks for the apost. Was this
- 1:27:03Speaker 1: a Twitter thing? Probably gonna stayed? Oh no, this was
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: during the last podcast. I told Evan that he was
- 1:27:12Speaker 1: um not being fair when it came to Cam Newton,
- 1:27:15Speaker 1: but he was right out for all. Okay, well, I appreciate.
- 1:27:19Speaker 1: I have someone on my Twitter time writes that to
- 1:27:21Speaker 1: me pretty much every day. My question is, what do
- 1:27:26Speaker 1: y'all think about the Patriots targeting Rashi? Uh? What's his name?
- 1:27:32Speaker 1: H H Jones from SMU the White Receiver. Yeah, I
- 1:27:39Speaker 1: actually from Colorado? And what about the Patriots want to
- 1:27:45Speaker 1: get Jordan Poyer or Marcus Peters in free agency? Who
- 1:27:50Speaker 1: it's a lot? Uh? Yeah. I watched the little SMU
- 1:27:52Speaker 1: you kids today. I started to dip my toes in that. Um,
- 1:27:54Speaker 1: I don't know. I watched these guys. I like, I
- 1:27:56Speaker 1: would take them. I would take them. I would take
- 1:27:57Speaker 1: them any of these top five guys. Um, I don't
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: know Marcus Peters, how old is he now? I mean
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: he's they're both kind of long in the two. I'm
- 1:28:05Speaker 1: not sure. I'm like players, a real good player, but
- 1:28:09Speaker 1: I just is that the direction that they they're in, Like,
- 1:28:14Speaker 1: you know, we're we're looking for a thirty something year
- 1:28:16Speaker 1: old veteran to do this because we have so few
- 1:28:19Speaker 1: holes that that's how we're going to fill them. Yeah,
- 1:28:21Speaker 1: like you could, you could sell me on free agency
- 1:28:24Speaker 1: to me, you still can't draft one. No, no, I know,
- 1:28:27Speaker 1: but you're not gonna just like you're gonna use a
- 1:28:30Speaker 1: chunk of your resources on a Jordan Poyer or you
- 1:28:32Speaker 1: know at this stage even you know, I don't know.
- 1:28:36Speaker 1: Good Alex is here, I can apologize in person just
- 1:28:38Speaker 1: in case that was his list. No, it was, and
- 1:28:42Speaker 1: so receivers that I mentioned was Rahi Rice from SMU
- 1:28:46Speaker 1: and then Charlie Jones from Okay. I know Barth is
- 1:28:52Speaker 1: a Charlie Jones guy, so maybe we can talk about him.
- 1:28:56Speaker 1: He doesn't want to commit. He doesn't want to commit.
- 1:28:58Speaker 1: What I liked about Barth was the list of Shrine
- 1:29:00Speaker 1: people came out and I'm like, oh, was a Jones
- 1:29:03Speaker 1: And then He's like a great list. I love all four.
- 1:29:05Speaker 1: I love every money of these people. Yeah. I watched
- 1:29:09Speaker 1: a little bit of the first round Receivers. Yeah, I'm
- 1:29:13Speaker 1: a I'm already all in on Jackson Smith and jo
- 1:29:16Speaker 1: Just just give me that guy like that guy is
- 1:29:20Speaker 1: a problem, Like that that's exactly go back and watch
- 1:29:23Speaker 1: his first year. Yeah, ridiculous that that's exactly the type
- 1:29:26Speaker 1: of guy too, that the chain mover, right, like the
- 1:29:29Speaker 1: slot receiver that's just gonna get open quickly. And I
- 1:29:33Speaker 1: understand that we all kind of get enamored by the
- 1:29:35Speaker 1: outside receivers and the deep threats and things like that.
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: But with this quarterback and with what this offense has
- 1:29:41Speaker 1: always been successful doing a guy like that that just
- 1:29:44Speaker 1: can get open quickly, reliable, always in the right places,
- 1:29:49Speaker 1: Like that type of receiver just always thrives here. And
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: he's like that. But with first round talent, right, it's
- 1:29:54Speaker 1: not like Jacoby Myers or or a guy like Edelman
- 1:29:57Speaker 1: or Welker coming in, Like this is a first round
- 1:30:00Speaker 1: receiver that has those types of traits, that that has
- 1:30:03Speaker 1: that type of play. The only thing about him that
- 1:30:05Speaker 1: I would wonder about is the same stuff that I
- 1:30:07Speaker 1: always said about all the Alabama guys, Like you know,
- 1:30:09Speaker 1: when he was in his heyday, it was a lave.
- 1:30:12Speaker 1: It was Wilson and him, like, yeah, how you stopping right?
- 1:30:16Speaker 1: But then they get so in the Rose Bowl, they
- 1:30:18Speaker 1: played Utah in the twenty twenty one or twenty twenty
- 1:30:20Speaker 1: two year by twenty twenty one season and Olave and
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: Wilson sat out because they were draft eligible three fifty.
- 1:30:29Speaker 1: I know the three It was one of the best
- 1:30:31Speaker 1: college games I've watched the last couple of years. His
- 1:30:33Speaker 1: stat line was fifteen catches for three hundred and forty
- 1:30:37Speaker 1: seven yards and three touchdowns. The big plays like I
- 1:30:40Speaker 1: mean with like three sixty yard plays or no, he
- 1:30:42Speaker 1: had fifteen catches. All right, I want to get to
- 1:30:45Speaker 1: some of these emails. Do we get to pick um?
- 1:30:48Speaker 1: You know? Well, I always appreciate the people who take
- 1:30:50Speaker 1: the time to email. Of course, Christian the Cuban rights
- 1:30:53Speaker 1: in Um, what would have to happen draft, free agency
- 1:30:56Speaker 1: trade to be able to compete with the AFC East
- 1:30:59Speaker 1: again next year? I know there are a lot of holes.
- 1:31:01Speaker 1: Paul can't happen over one year. In my opinion, get
- 1:31:04Speaker 1: Lamar and O'Brien, and I think we can compete with
- 1:31:06Speaker 1: the Bills next year. If the Bills stay intact, I
- 1:31:11Speaker 1: don't think that'll do it. But no, Um, to me,
- 1:31:18Speaker 1: a lot of it depends on and I don't know
- 1:31:21Speaker 1: every team's free agent status off the top of my head. Um,
- 1:31:24Speaker 1: I don't know how much the Bills will look different
- 1:31:26Speaker 1: next year. I look at the Bills and I see
- 1:31:29Speaker 1: a team that if they can retain enough of their core.
- 1:31:31Speaker 1: I think we talked about Edmonds a little bit on Tuesday.
- 1:31:36Speaker 1: You know, if payer is another one, yeah, um, if
- 1:31:39Speaker 1: they can retain enough of that core. On defense, I
- 1:31:42Speaker 1: think they had a couple of young quarterbacks that that
- 1:31:45Speaker 1: weren't great this year, but they were okay and Elam
- 1:31:50Speaker 1: you know, they both show a promise, Um, the defense
- 1:31:53Speaker 1: would be okay. And then you're looking at like for
- 1:31:56Speaker 1: a team like that, I think James Cook looked like
- 1:31:59Speaker 1: he coming on is the second half of the year.
- 1:32:02Speaker 1: You just give me one like complimentary wide receiver who's
- 1:32:06Speaker 1: better than Isaiah Mackenzie, better than the corpse of Cole Beasley,
- 1:32:11Speaker 1: you know, and that that that's the thing that catching
- 1:32:14Speaker 1: them in a blank. That's the thing that worries me
- 1:32:16Speaker 1: about Buffalo is that they are really good organization in
- 1:32:20Speaker 1: terms of identifying holes. And I think you look at
- 1:32:23Speaker 1: their receiving corps, it's not actually that good. Outside is
- 1:32:26Speaker 1: Deefon Diggs and so I'm just him terrified, like, oh no,
- 1:32:30Speaker 1: Like what if they thought Davis was gonna make a
- 1:32:32Speaker 1: if he did off the playoffs last year and he's
- 1:32:34Speaker 1: the same guy. Good but he's not great. They thought
- 1:32:36Speaker 1: he was gonna be at that. Yeah, I mean they're
- 1:32:39Speaker 1: they're supporting cast Is is good because of Diggs and
- 1:32:42Speaker 1: because Josh, but it's really not special. And if they
- 1:32:47Speaker 1: look at that and they in this offseason and they're like, well,
- 1:32:50Speaker 1: we need to get another and then it's like, well,
- 1:32:51Speaker 1: your defense has trouble with them even with what they
- 1:32:54Speaker 1: have now, which you're not bet they're kicking themselves now.
- 1:32:57Speaker 1: Late in the year, they had to make a kind
- 1:32:59Speaker 1: of a procedural move and they tried to slide Isaiah
- 1:33:03Speaker 1: Hodgens from the roster to the practice squad. And there
- 1:33:07Speaker 1: was only one team that claimed him on waivers, and
- 1:33:10Speaker 1: it happened to be a team coached by his former
- 1:33:13Speaker 1: offensive coordinator, the Giants. Brian Dable knew him in what's
- 1:33:17Speaker 1: his face? What's the GM's name shown, Yeah, Joe Shane Shane.
- 1:33:23Speaker 1: They picked him up and all of a sudden, he's
- 1:33:25Speaker 1: catching six or seven passes for one hundred and ten
- 1:33:28Speaker 1: yards in the playoff game like that's he was a
- 1:33:30Speaker 1: six round pick. They developed him, they liked him a
- 1:33:33Speaker 1: lot I saw. I know Peter King wrote about this
- 1:33:35Speaker 1: a little bit this week. That's the kind of guy
- 1:33:37Speaker 1: they're looking for is one of those guys and they
- 1:33:39Speaker 1: got to be kicking themselves as they lost them. Ben
- 1:33:41Speaker 1: in Liverpool, excuse me, hearing the news that the Patriots
- 1:33:44Speaker 1: are interviewing Nick Kayley this year is absolutely infuriating. Why
- 1:33:49Speaker 1: was he deemed not good enough last year but good
- 1:33:51Speaker 1: enough this year? Or is it a case of filling
- 1:33:53Speaker 1: out the interview process? That's a great question. I don't.
- 1:33:57Speaker 1: My question would be if the Jets didn't request permission
- 1:33:59Speaker 1: to interview him with the Patriots have interviewed him. Yeah,
- 1:34:03Speaker 1: And I don't have the answer to that, so don't
- 1:34:05Speaker 1: How much is it that he went into Bill's office
- 1:34:09Speaker 1: and said, at least let me interview right like you're not.
- 1:34:12Speaker 1: Maybe you don't hire me, maybe you go in a
- 1:34:14Speaker 1: different direction, but at least give me the opportunity to
- 1:34:17Speaker 1: present what I would do in my or Bill doing
- 1:34:21Speaker 1: him a solid in the appearance of an interview helps
- 1:34:23Speaker 1: him with someplace else. Neil and new brunsway, here's another offseason.
- 1:34:29Speaker 1: Would you rather you have to pick one one? Would
- 1:34:32Speaker 1: you rather hire Bill O'Brien as OC or another outside
- 1:34:36Speaker 1: offensive coach, so Billy or the field basically Billy, So
- 1:34:41Speaker 1: I would need to know the field, but probably Billy too.
- 1:34:47Speaker 1: Would you rather take a highly towed tackle with pick
- 1:34:50Speaker 1: fourteen or trade the pick to Chicago for Justin Fields
- 1:34:54Speaker 1: and then Chicago would then take either of the top
- 1:34:56Speaker 1: quarterbacks in the draft? What? I don't know? I know,
- 1:35:01Speaker 1: Just keep Mac? Yeah, keep the fourteen. You wouldn't take Fields? No,
- 1:35:06Speaker 1: I just I'd take Fields. I would take Fields, but
- 1:35:09Speaker 1: I don't really, I don't know if that I'm not
- 1:35:12Speaker 1: ready to start over. So no, like the fourteenth pick
- 1:35:15Speaker 1: of the draft of Justin Fields, I do well, yeah,
- 1:35:17Speaker 1: I don't know why Chicago would do that. They wouldn't, right,
- 1:35:21Speaker 1: but I would do I don't know. Um. And finally,
- 1:35:24Speaker 1: if you can only keep one, would you rather keep
- 1:35:26Speaker 1: Nick Folk or Jake Bailey? Folks? Folks? Sure? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:35:32Speaker 1: Kickers more valuable than a punter, even even a thirty
- 1:35:36Speaker 1: eight year old or whatever. He's going to keep going.
- 1:35:39Speaker 1: He's thirty eight and is uh is an ordine still
- 1:35:43Speaker 1: technically like on the roster, I saw this Guyano got
- 1:35:47Speaker 1: picked up by Dallas. Yes, he's on their practice squad
- 1:35:50Speaker 1: now a random life that is to be like a
- 1:35:53Speaker 1: practice squad kicker. And you're here that he was gone
- 1:35:56Speaker 1: for a couple of weeks. He was I still have
- 1:35:57Speaker 1: never seen anything like that. Monday Night four extra points. Yeah,
- 1:36:02Speaker 1: Tyler and Providence, I have a game for you. That's
- 1:36:04Speaker 1: a bit silly. It might be bad if none of
- 1:36:06Speaker 1: you are into world history. If you could get into
- 1:36:08Speaker 1: a time issue to pick any military leader throughout history
- 1:36:12Speaker 1: to be our new offensive coordinator, who would you choose?
- 1:36:14Speaker 1: Some examples would be Sun Zoo because he literally built
- 1:36:18Speaker 1: the book of Art of War, George Washington because he
- 1:36:22Speaker 1: was able to take an army with inferior weapons and
- 1:36:25Speaker 1: talent and win the war. Or Vlad the Impaler because
- 1:36:28Speaker 1: he would use fear as a weapon against his enemies.
- 1:36:31Speaker 1: George Patton, speed and aggressiveness. Yeah, what about Gengha's cotton? Okay,
- 1:36:39Speaker 1: mccon I saw Patton. Uh no, I uh that's that
- 1:36:44Speaker 1: is a funny. That's a fun little exercise. Vlad the
- 1:36:47Speaker 1: Impaler maybe Loud I didn't know that one. It's a funny.
- 1:36:52Speaker 1: It's a funny exercise. I like Douce though, coming at
- 1:36:55Speaker 1: it with pattent speed. Ye, well, he was. He was
- 1:37:00Speaker 1: the ground game called the ground game between the tackles
- 1:37:05Speaker 1: was definitely the anybody but son zoo? How's that all? Right? Wow? Again,
- 1:37:11Speaker 1: this might be bad if none of you are history busts.
- 1:37:13Speaker 1: But I did also want to say Deuce did a
- 1:37:14Speaker 1: great job with hiring Evan this year. I appreciate Evan's
- 1:37:17Speaker 1: fake ignorance. Who responses when Paula Fred mentions the celebrity
- 1:37:22Speaker 1: from their youth because I just imagine Fred and paul
- 1:37:24Speaker 1: being shocked that Evan doesn't know who the Beg's are
- 1:37:27Speaker 1: or who Tomsons? Who? Whoa? Whoa? First of all, I
- 1:37:29Speaker 1: know who both of those people are, Okay, nobody who
- 1:37:32Speaker 1: was a bigger Begs fan than my father, So I
- 1:37:35Speaker 1: know the whole disco. I'm gonna actually defend Evan here.
- 1:37:41Speaker 1: You're missing the humor that he's providing. Those are old
- 1:37:44Speaker 1: shots at us. He knows who we're talking about. He
- 1:37:47Speaker 1: likes to call us old. I can't I can't stand
- 1:37:49Speaker 1: the I can't stand for the Beg's thing because my
- 1:37:52Speaker 1: dad will listen to this and be like Evan, I'm
- 1:37:55Speaker 1: a little unsettled that his father was we right not?
- 1:38:01Speaker 1: My name is way and I'm a PEU listener from
- 1:38:03Speaker 1: China bills he can play quarterback in the NFL. Comment
- 1:38:07Speaker 1: on Max sounded luke warm. Is it possible that they
- 1:38:10Speaker 1: draft another quarterback with the fourteenth overall? No, I don't
- 1:38:13Speaker 1: think so there's there are There aren't even any options,
- 1:38:16Speaker 1: like unless somebody like Will Levis. I all right, Anthony
- 1:38:22Speaker 1: Richardson maybe, but I just I don't even think that
- 1:38:25Speaker 1: there's really by Anthony Richardson, but not at fourteen. Yeah,
- 1:38:29Speaker 1: but I would be intrigued by him if you get
- 1:38:31Speaker 1: him on day two and work with him for a
- 1:38:33Speaker 1: couple of years, like maybe, um you mentioned earlier like
- 1:38:37Speaker 1: Vegas taking a cornerback and Brady like Anthony Richardson would
- 1:38:40Speaker 1: be like the perfect guy for mc daniels to work
- 1:38:42Speaker 1: with for a year or two. But here I don't
- 1:38:45Speaker 1: see it. Sabrina from Austria says she hopes they'll solve
- 1:38:50Speaker 1: last year's problem of the majority of tickets going to scalpers,
- 1:38:54Speaker 1: so she'll definitely try it already registered wish her luck. Yeah.
- 1:39:02Speaker 1: Her question is what is the chance of build trading
- 1:39:04Speaker 1: back the fourteens picked this year more or less than
- 1:39:06Speaker 1: fifty percent? Are there tackles or quarterbacks who could be
- 1:39:09Speaker 1: interesting for us later in the first or early second round.
- 1:39:13Speaker 1: I for one, will not be getting up in the
- 1:39:15Speaker 1: middle of the night for the draft this year. I
- 1:39:17Speaker 1: learned from my mistake getting up and hearing the nikkil
- 1:39:19Speaker 1: Harry pick one. I just I think you need specific
- 1:39:25Speaker 1: players at specific positions, and and like maybe there is
- 1:39:29Speaker 1: a small trade down and you could get a couple
- 1:39:31Speaker 1: of those guys in the twenties. But as I see
- 1:39:34Speaker 1: it right now, I think you grab a tackle at
- 1:39:36Speaker 1: at fourteen or fourteen years high enough that you should
- 1:39:39Speaker 1: be able to identify a player that get a star.
- 1:39:42Speaker 1: You know that shouldn't just be well, if we get
- 1:39:44Speaker 1: him or someone else, it's okay, Like this should be
- 1:39:47Speaker 1: a guy that you feel strongly about at fourteen And
- 1:39:50Speaker 1: when you had Mac two years ago, it's just you
- 1:39:52Speaker 1: needed a quarterback so bad, and I think you saw
- 1:39:54Speaker 1: everything through the lens of quarterback at that point. And
- 1:39:56Speaker 1: now you know not to say that they don't have
- 1:39:58Speaker 1: like like I've been saying, receiver, tackle, cornerback, they've got
- 1:40:02Speaker 1: those needs. But what do you got, Paul, Like just
- 1:40:05Speaker 1: we're gonna get to the picks in a second, but
- 1:40:07Speaker 1: I've been noticing this this week Caesar Sports Book that
- 1:40:09Speaker 1: the Bengals Bills opened at three and a half. It's
- 1:40:12Speaker 1: up to like five and a half. Um Bill's favorite.
- 1:40:15Speaker 1: I just wonder what the I thank you really I
- 1:40:22Speaker 1: listened to in this game, Lombardi, I Michael Lombardi remember
- 1:40:26Speaker 1: broke down the the tier system that the Patriots user
- 1:40:30Speaker 1: cluster system with the draft, where they might say Cole
- 1:40:33Speaker 1: Strange and Tyler Smith same player, So that would bug me, right,
- 1:40:39Speaker 1: we were out of that territory right now where you
- 1:40:42Speaker 1: can just say, all right, Broderick Jones and the tackle
- 1:40:46Speaker 1: that twenty seven same player, Like, no, you need premium,
- 1:40:50Speaker 1: blue chip talent, and that you don't get that in
- 1:40:53Speaker 1: the twenties most of the time. Now you might get
- 1:40:55Speaker 1: lucky and hit on one of those guys a little
- 1:40:57Speaker 1: bit later. But when you have the fourteen pick, like
- 1:40:59Speaker 1: you like, that's a premium pick that you can get
- 1:41:02Speaker 1: a guy that has that that pedigree of a somebody
- 1:41:07Speaker 1: at some position that's going to be one of the
- 1:41:09Speaker 1: top and it's gonna be like, yeah, not the same.
- 1:41:12Speaker 1: I'm not saying it's exactly the same, but it's gonna
- 1:41:14Speaker 1: be like you're getting like the twelfth pick or maybe
- 1:41:16Speaker 1: even the eleventh pick, because you know CJ. Stroud and
- 1:41:19Speaker 1: Bryce Younger are gonna be gone, you know, and maybe
- 1:41:21Speaker 1: even to Evans point Will Levis. Yeah, So if you
- 1:41:25Speaker 1: get that and you can get the twelfth best whatever
- 1:41:29Speaker 1: else you want, right, Like, that's what you need. I
- 1:41:31Speaker 1: don't think it's the same as when you're twenty eight
- 1:41:33Speaker 1: or thirty two back in the day and you're moving
- 1:41:36Speaker 1: around with your little cluster system because you're already in
- 1:41:39Speaker 1: the second round. Because there's got to be a difference
- 1:41:41Speaker 1: between the highest rated tackle in the fifth highest rated tackle,
- 1:41:45Speaker 1: Like that's bigger than say the fifth rated tackle in
- 1:41:48Speaker 1: the eighth or tenth rated tackle. That gap is gonna
- 1:41:51Speaker 1: be bigger from one to five than five to ten. Well,
- 1:41:54Speaker 1: they say that most teams and the Patriots have a
- 1:41:56Speaker 1: notoriously small draft board. You're talking about fifth, teen to
- 1:42:00Speaker 1: twenty first round grades on players, right, are guys that
- 1:42:03Speaker 1: are really worth that in the first round. So, like
- 1:42:05Speaker 1: you were saying, if you pick it thirty, you're already
- 1:42:08Speaker 1: in the second round on your board, So like, what's
- 1:42:11Speaker 1: the difference at that point? It might be a fairer argument,
- 1:42:13Speaker 1: but I feel like they got into this mess because
- 1:42:16Speaker 1: they ran into that well, this guy here is actually
- 1:42:19Speaker 1: the same as that guy there, and like, yeah right,
- 1:42:26Speaker 1: I just feel like this is how we ran into
- 1:42:28Speaker 1: this problem with the draft. Whereas now you have this
- 1:42:30Speaker 1: fourteenth pick, go out and get him, get me a
- 1:42:33Speaker 1: brand name. Yeah, that's what's so nice about twenty twenty
- 1:42:36Speaker 1: one was like, you just did what you're supposed to do.
- 1:42:38Speaker 1: You trade it up and got Barmore. You took a
- 1:42:40Speaker 1: quarterback you needed it. He kind of fell through the
- 1:42:41Speaker 1: cracks to get there, you know, Like it's just it
- 1:42:43Speaker 1: just made sense. And then you went back last year
- 1:42:45Speaker 1: where it was like, I mean, certainly some of those
- 1:42:47Speaker 1: picks made sense, but some head scratchers too. Bill and
- 1:42:50Speaker 1: Oklahoma says the problem with Brady going to Vegas is
- 1:42:54Speaker 1: you'll have to face Herbert and Mahomes twice a year.
- 1:42:56Speaker 1: He's always been in a division where quality quarterbacks were
- 1:42:59Speaker 1: a rare competitor. He doesn't care. I don't. I don't know.
- 1:43:01Speaker 1: I just don't see that angle with Tom. I don't
- 1:43:04Speaker 1: understand that you do. I know that's very common perception, Yeah,
- 1:43:08Speaker 1: that you have to worry about the division and who's
- 1:43:11Speaker 1: it I'm not worried about other teams. From Tom Brady,
- 1:43:16Speaker 1: Kristen says, um, she wants to know does Hardy play hurdle?
- 1:43:20Speaker 1: I feel like he would be a masterclass hurdle player.
- 1:43:24Speaker 1: I think he does. I think I have talked to
- 1:43:26Speaker 1: him about it. Um yea. And should he should play
- 1:43:30Speaker 1: hurdle on his little music show? Yeah, that he does.
- 1:43:34Speaker 1: He could play hurdle in between playing the songs right
- 1:43:37Speaker 1: that he plays right, he doesn't even play the songs
- 1:43:39Speaker 1: and then talk about the song do you play the
- 1:43:41Speaker 1: songs that? I asked him about it because I'm like,
- 1:43:43Speaker 1: how long does it take you to record a show?
- 1:43:45Speaker 1: Because he just does it. Does it's like thirty minutes
- 1:43:48Speaker 1: to record like a three He wraps around all the
- 1:43:50Speaker 1: songs that are play. Yeah. Oh so it's really fake. Oh,
- 1:43:54Speaker 1: it's really fake. The Bucks didn't just fire Byron Foot,
- 1:43:57Speaker 1: they cleaned house. They did. Every single offensive coach on
- 1:44:00Speaker 1: the staff got fired. Wow. Thanks Tom. That's why they
- 1:44:03Speaker 1: had the comment that this is the first time that
- 1:44:06Speaker 1: Todd Bowles will ever be allowed to choose his own staff.
- 1:44:11Speaker 1: Offensive staff huh um. Not from Santa Clubs about wordl
- 1:44:16Speaker 1: starters ad A d I e U. Yes, that was
- 1:44:20Speaker 1: the story. I read a due in snort crane. Yeah,
- 1:44:24Speaker 1: well he said a due and snort cover all the bases.
- 1:44:27Speaker 1: Try it. I just my problem with with ADU is
- 1:44:30Speaker 1: I just get a. If I do get a bunch
- 1:44:32Speaker 1: of vowels, it doesn't really help me. Like, oh, I
- 1:44:34Speaker 1: got an A and a E like that. Just I
- 1:44:36Speaker 1: need like a T, I need an ass, I need
- 1:44:40Speaker 1: need consonants. Ends out again, boggle boggle. All right, all right,
- 1:44:48Speaker 1: it's that time of the week, time for picks, and
- 1:44:57Speaker 1: what happened last week? First week of the playoffs. It's playoffs.
- 1:45:01Speaker 1: But yeah, oh damn it, Mike and Paul five and one,
- 1:45:09Speaker 1: Evan and Fred four and two. Mike and Paul should
- 1:45:14Speaker 1: have been that's stupid chargers, I mean six with the
- 1:45:20Speaker 1: spread not quite as strong. Yeah, Paul three and three,
- 1:45:25Speaker 1: Mike and Fred two and four. Oh, Evan one and five.
- 1:45:31Speaker 1: Bad week. So that's where we stand right now, Mike
- 1:45:35Speaker 1: and Paul tied for the overall and Paul alone as
- 1:45:38Speaker 1: usual at off the moneymaker. All right, spread, Well, we
- 1:45:43Speaker 1: start Saturday, four thirty Saturday. The nine and eight Jaguars
- 1:45:49Speaker 1: are at the fourteen and three Chiefs Chiefs by eight
- 1:45:53Speaker 1: and a half. He's by eight and a hay a half. Yeah, this, uh,
- 1:45:59Speaker 1: this feels like you're a lot of the week, not
- 1:46:01Speaker 1: an upset. I'm going to take Kansas City. I think.
- 1:46:03Speaker 1: Actually I am tempted that Jacksonville is gonna put up
- 1:46:06Speaker 1: a little bit of a fight because they have nothing
- 1:46:07Speaker 1: to lose. But it's just hard to pick. It's casey
- 1:46:11Speaker 1: at this point, so I will take them. I will
- 1:46:12Speaker 1: lay the points. Jacksonville does have that that Doug Peterson
- 1:46:16Speaker 1: magic on them right where they six and oh isn't
- 1:46:20Speaker 1: underdog in the playoffs? Just do it? So I think
- 1:46:22Speaker 1: the Chiefs win this game. But I'm gonna take Jacksonville
- 1:46:25Speaker 1: to cover the spread, just because I think Kansa City
- 1:46:27Speaker 1: be a little rusty in the first half and maybe
- 1:46:29Speaker 1: it's a close game at halftime. It's funny if what
- 1:46:32Speaker 1: happened last week didn't happen in Jacksonville just won conventionally,
- 1:46:35Speaker 1: I'd absolutely be taking the points, but I'm not going to.
- 1:46:37Speaker 1: I'm gonna lay the points, take Kansas City both ways
- 1:46:40Speaker 1: because I think Jacksonville just like sat around for a
- 1:46:43Speaker 1: week saying, oh my god, do you believe what we
- 1:46:45Speaker 1: just did, and then reality's gonna streak. Yeah, I think
- 1:46:48Speaker 1: the run for my guy, Trevor Lawrence is done. I'm
- 1:46:51Speaker 1: very proud of him for what he did. To thank him,
- 1:46:54Speaker 1: I'll pass them along. I'm very proud of Trevor Lawrence
- 1:46:57Speaker 1: and the way he bounced back this year. Uh. But
- 1:47:02Speaker 1: I think the moment is the Chiefs. Um. I'm with Paul.
- 1:47:05Speaker 1: I think last week was like how do you top that? Um?
- 1:47:09Speaker 1: You know? And I think the Jags will will be
- 1:47:12Speaker 1: better even better for it next year. But I think
- 1:47:14Speaker 1: this is it for them. Yeah, we're gonna watch the
- 1:47:16Speaker 1: Chiefs though. Yeah, like their home rock record in the
- 1:47:18Speaker 1: playoffs has not been great and you know that, like,
- 1:47:21Speaker 1: you know, they could be rusty. That's a good point,
- 1:47:23Speaker 1: Evan Mace and who knows the Jaguars defense can make
- 1:47:26Speaker 1: some plays, you know, so like that front. Yeah, so
- 1:47:29Speaker 1: they you know, they can keep it close. But I'm
- 1:47:32Speaker 1: gonna take it both ways. For the Chiefs, I think
- 1:47:34Speaker 1: they cover Jacksonville teen. To worry about next year? Absolutely, Ah,
- 1:47:39Speaker 1: who do you just look at them as favorite gonna
- 1:47:42Speaker 1: have to worry about I have to worry about them.
- 1:47:44Speaker 1: I think they're going to get better. Yeah, I think
- 1:47:46Speaker 1: they're gonna do you just worry about them as division
- 1:47:48Speaker 1: the division champs, but so they don't really concern you. No,
- 1:47:51Speaker 1: I think they I think they're going to compete in
- 1:47:52Speaker 1: the AFC for the crown. Yeah, I mean I kind
- 1:47:56Speaker 1: of feel like talking about bad going for a playoff spot.
- 1:48:01Speaker 1: You won't be battling them because they're going to be
- 1:48:02Speaker 1: the ac oh to knock the Patriots worried about them? Oh,
- 1:48:07Speaker 1: I don't right now, But I mean it feels like
- 1:48:09Speaker 1: there's a vacuum right now in the AFC South I do.
- 1:48:11Speaker 1: I'm with Fred. I think they're on the rise. Yeah,
- 1:48:13Speaker 1: I think they are. The problem that I see is
- 1:48:16Speaker 1: that you look at the four AFC finalists so far
- 1:48:19Speaker 1: right now, Trevor Mahomes, Burrow Allen like that, how do
- 1:48:23Speaker 1: you get into and then you have Herbert too, right,
- 1:48:26Speaker 1: if he gets the right coach, you don't got one
- 1:48:29Speaker 1: of those guys. So that's right. Yeah, it's five. Jackson
- 1:48:33Speaker 1: stays in the ass. Yeah. Six, Yeah, maybe maybe they'll
- 1:48:37Speaker 1: make eight playoff teams. He's right, Matt gets his head
- 1:48:40Speaker 1: screwed on right seven. Suddenly he's the eleventh best quarterback
- 1:48:45Speaker 1: in the conference. All right, Um, so that's at four thirty,
- 1:48:50Speaker 1: then at eight fifteen. Now, just a question because we
- 1:48:53Speaker 1: have a little bit of time, appanel, do you order
- 1:48:55Speaker 1: your food before the four thirty game? Would you want
- 1:48:57Speaker 1: to wait and get your food? But tween for the
- 1:49:01Speaker 1: eight fifteen game. I don't know that, Paul Pulse chomping.
- 1:49:03Speaker 1: I'm fascinated. I want I want info. I want to
- 1:49:05Speaker 1: know what you guys do. I probably would cook that night,
- 1:49:08Speaker 1: so probably would just be in the house. I don't
- 1:49:10Speaker 1: I don't go out Friday. So sorry for a disappointing answer,
- 1:49:13Speaker 1: but we probably just cook. So what are you cooking?
- 1:49:16Speaker 1: And when I haven't made the venue yet, fred but
- 1:49:18Speaker 1: I'll let Do you have to cook? No? But I
- 1:49:21Speaker 1: like to cook? Okay, So are you cooking to cook?
- 1:49:24Speaker 1: Are you cooking for football? Like? Are you cooking like
- 1:49:26Speaker 1: the playoffs? Yeah? Yeah? Probably probably did? Uh? What do
- 1:49:31Speaker 1: we do last year? You bring out the grill and guys,
- 1:49:34Speaker 1: what do you guys stand on the viewing venue? Do
- 1:49:37Speaker 1: you prefer to just stay home chill out with the
- 1:49:40Speaker 1: family or I keep people over? I have no I
- 1:49:44Speaker 1: don't have any friends. I don't have any friends. Freddy, Yeah, Freddy,
- 1:49:48Speaker 1: I just stay home, Freddy, I'll hang out with you.
- 1:49:51Speaker 1: This will be Actually it's kind of a far to
- 1:49:53Speaker 1: come down the cave. No, what time is the game?
- 1:49:56Speaker 1: The first game about four fifteen. I'm gonna come down.
- 1:49:58Speaker 1: I'll be like, so sorry if I watched TV like
- 1:50:02Speaker 1: four thirties. Yeah, that's what I was expecting. Out to
- 1:50:04Speaker 1: you if you mean you're you're you're young. So I'm
- 1:50:06Speaker 1: gonna I'm Jersey Mikes is usually a lunch things before
- 1:50:13Speaker 1: this on Saturday night, I maybe maybe some wings, you know,
- 1:50:18Speaker 1: some classic football wings, and I would say that maybe
- 1:50:22Speaker 1: like fourth quarter and then kind of like into the
- 1:50:26Speaker 1: into the break period. You know, you kind of order
- 1:50:28Speaker 1: them around that time, and then they come late, you know,
- 1:50:31Speaker 1: the game, maybe right in the middle of the two games.
- 1:50:35Speaker 1: You do like Uber Eats, do you have it? Yes?
- 1:50:37Speaker 1: You see I yes, Like like I love all those services,
- 1:50:41Speaker 1: but there's something about like getting the food right when
- 1:50:45Speaker 1: it's done and hot, and I get it home and
- 1:50:48Speaker 1: it's fresher right, you know, I like, I don't mind
- 1:50:51Speaker 1: going out and getting it because I know it was
- 1:50:54Speaker 1: a situation like that, you get a missed. I know.
- 1:50:57Speaker 1: That's the thing. That's why the timing is key. You
- 1:50:59Speaker 1: got the rest trunts around you there. I mean, I
- 1:51:00Speaker 1: know it's yeah, yeah, Paul. So I had well, no,
- 1:51:05Speaker 1: I don't have like I just was. I'm sorry, I
- 1:51:08Speaker 1: was dead. I was dead serious, I was. I was
- 1:51:10Speaker 1: interested to see what you guys do, like I was
- 1:51:12Speaker 1: like Fred last week. I had no friends. I wanted
- 1:51:14Speaker 1: like Beth was working and I wanted to figure out,
- 1:51:18Speaker 1: you know, should I go out? Should I ended up
- 1:51:20Speaker 1: not doing anything because my brother in law never really
- 1:51:22Speaker 1: texted me back, which is another issue. Even family, I
- 1:51:26Speaker 1: can't get to hang out with me. Um. So TJ
- 1:51:30Speaker 1: and his boys went out to watch the first game,
- 1:51:34Speaker 1: and then they had the plan like that with the
- 1:51:36Speaker 1: intention they were going to watch the first game and
- 1:51:38Speaker 1: then bring you food. Well this is this is where
- 1:51:41Speaker 1: I'm getting at, but then come home to watch the
- 1:51:44Speaker 1: second game. So I said, do me a favor. I'll
- 1:51:46Speaker 1: come and get you in between games and just when
- 1:51:50Speaker 1: when you're ready to go, order me and I got
- 1:51:54Speaker 1: a thing of wings. I got a dozen wings, half buffalo,
- 1:51:56Speaker 1: half honey barbecue, good order, good times. Right. So I
- 1:51:59Speaker 1: went to pick him up, brought them home back, sat
- 1:52:02Speaker 1: down for the second game with my wings, and then
- 1:52:04Speaker 1: bet came home. She goes, oh, you look like you're
- 1:52:06Speaker 1: having fun. I go absolutely profile and you get me
- 1:52:13Speaker 1: a wet now just a bib with no I put
- 1:52:17Speaker 1: into order with Buff's Pub, one of the that's a
- 1:52:22Speaker 1: great move, one of the rare places that actually makes
- 1:52:25Speaker 1: a great They're one of the best in the region.
- 1:52:28Speaker 1: Where is it right off the mask Pike though, so
- 1:52:31Speaker 1: it's super easy to get to. When we went to
- 1:52:33Speaker 1: Gary Gradecki's wedding, okay after the reception, No, after the
- 1:52:37Speaker 1: wedding and before the reception, there was like some time,
- 1:52:40Speaker 1: so we all went to Buffs Pub. Who's we all?
- 1:52:43Speaker 1: My wife? It was somebody that wasn't part of that,
- 1:52:45Speaker 1: My wife and a bunch of other people. They were like,
- 1:52:47Speaker 1: it wasn't me. Six couples. I think they take credit
- 1:52:50Speaker 1: cards now too. They were cash only. I used to
- 1:52:53Speaker 1: live around this. I only went there a couple of times.
- 1:52:56Speaker 1: We used to have when I worked at the Herald.
- 1:52:58Speaker 1: We used to play in the Corporate Basketball League and
- 1:53:00Speaker 1: a lot of the games row in that area and
- 1:53:02Speaker 1: we would stop. Tony Mass would come with us. You
- 1:53:04Speaker 1: could ask Big Buffs Pub guy O that that explains
- 1:53:07Speaker 1: a lot. Yeah, love Buffs pup probably buffs Pub before
- 1:53:10Speaker 1: that that big game to end the season, he had
- 1:53:13Speaker 1: to sit out because he had the poops. Now we
- 1:53:14Speaker 1: gotta hurry. Come on eight fifteen Saturday night, the nine
- 1:53:18Speaker 1: seven and one Giants are at the fourteen and three Eagles.
- 1:53:22Speaker 1: Eagles by seven and a half, seven and a half. Um,
- 1:53:26Speaker 1: gotta hurry seven minutes lest the Giants. Yeah, I'm gonna
- 1:53:29Speaker 1: go divisional game, but I'm still gonna go Eagles, and
- 1:53:32Speaker 1: I'm gonna lay the points goals. I'm gonna go Eagles
- 1:53:35Speaker 1: as well. I'm gonna I'm gonna say that Giants cover.
- 1:53:38Speaker 1: I think divisional game it's usually I've had since then.
- 1:53:41Speaker 1: I thought they were gonna blow out Baltimore, but Baltimore
- 1:53:44Speaker 1: was able to keep it close. I think this is
- 1:53:46Speaker 1: a similar type of situation. I am with Evan on
- 1:53:49Speaker 1: this one. I think the Giants. That toughness that they
- 1:53:54Speaker 1: showed the very first game of the season, that a
- 1:53:56Speaker 1: game against Tennessee they had no business winning, and they
- 1:53:58Speaker 1: found a way to win. It has carried over throughout
- 1:54:00Speaker 1: the entire regular season. I don't think they're all that good,
- 1:54:04Speaker 1: but they are tough and I think they'll hang around. Yeah, um.
- 1:54:09Speaker 1: Similar to the Jaguars. I think the Giants run is over.
- 1:54:13Speaker 1: I think Eagles cover. You know, so I'm gonna go
- 1:54:16Speaker 1: with for Saturday, both teams both favorites to cover. Um. Although,
- 1:54:21Speaker 1: I mean, Jalen Hurts has to be a little rusty, right,
- 1:54:23Speaker 1: you know, he didn't play. He did play in the
- 1:54:26Speaker 1: last game. They kind of still managed. He didn't run,
- 1:54:31Speaker 1: but he didn't play in the last game. Yeah, it's
- 1:54:33Speaker 1: still a week off though, Okay. Anyway, Um, Yeah, I
- 1:54:36Speaker 1: think Eagles cover in this game. I think they might
- 1:54:39Speaker 1: be the most complete team left. But all right, now
- 1:54:42Speaker 1: the interesting games Sunday at three h twelve and four.
- 1:54:47Speaker 1: Bengals are at the thirteen and three Bills, and the line,
- 1:54:52Speaker 1: as we talked about earlier, has shifted. Yeah, it's going
- 1:54:56Speaker 1: It's going up Buffalo by five. Was the draft Kings
- 1:54:59Speaker 1: this morning weather report or something like that, or any
- 1:55:02Speaker 1: any reason why. I Mean, the only thing I could
- 1:55:04Speaker 1: think of is that they've gotten bad injury news with
- 1:55:07Speaker 1: the Bengals offensive lineman. None of those guys are gonna play.
- 1:55:10Speaker 1: I would imagine like they lost their whole offensive. They
- 1:55:14Speaker 1: could not move the ball at all in the second half.
- 1:55:16Speaker 1: They moved it at will in the first half, but
- 1:55:18Speaker 1: they couldn't move it at all in the second half
- 1:55:20Speaker 1: once Jonah Williams, I think so maybe the word the
- 1:55:23Speaker 1: words getting out there while Collins was already out he
- 1:55:26Speaker 1: got Christmas E. He think his backup got hurt, and
- 1:55:28Speaker 1: the other guy Kappa out right. Well, Paul, you're a
- 1:55:32Speaker 1: little rant there. Just made me change my mind because
- 1:55:34Speaker 1: I was ready to go Bengals um, and because I
- 1:55:37Speaker 1: just I think the Bills have been playing with fire.
- 1:55:39Speaker 1: They've been sloppy. Josh Allen just doesn't seem like like
- 1:55:42Speaker 1: he's waiting for things to start. Um. But if there's
- 1:55:46Speaker 1: too many injuries on but on the Bengals line them,
- 1:55:48Speaker 1: I can't take him. I'm gonna take the Bills. Okay.
- 1:55:52Speaker 1: I have the same exact feeling as Deuce on this.
- 1:55:54Speaker 1: I just I have not been impressed by the way
- 1:55:57Speaker 1: that Buffalo has been playing offensively, turning the ball over
- 1:56:00Speaker 1: a ton. I don't think you win a game against
- 1:56:02Speaker 1: Joe Burrow and a good Bengals team turning the ball
- 1:56:05Speaker 1: over that much. I'm gonna take the Bengals. I don't
- 1:56:09Speaker 1: love it for you, I don't love it, but I'm
- 1:56:10Speaker 1: gonna take the Bengals. Yeah, I hate this because I
- 1:56:13Speaker 1: really like both of these teams a lot and I
- 1:56:14Speaker 1: like watching both of these guys play a lot. M
- 1:56:17Speaker 1: game thing with that great divisional game last year with
- 1:56:20Speaker 1: Kansas City and Buffalo, I don't want either one of
- 1:56:22Speaker 1: them to lose. I'm gonna split it. I'm gonna take
- 1:56:25Speaker 1: Buffalo to win. But I just I don't really understand
- 1:56:28Speaker 1: the spread. I thought this should have been a field
- 1:56:32Speaker 1: goal at best, maybe even smaller. Could it just be
- 1:56:35Speaker 1: that Bengals, I mean, Bills fans are betting more. All
- 1:56:37Speaker 1: the money's coming in and they're trying. It could be,
- 1:56:39Speaker 1: you know, it doesn't really make a lot of sense
- 1:56:41Speaker 1: to me, given the area that we're talking about, but
- 1:56:44Speaker 1: it could be. I'm gonna split it. I think Cincinnati
- 1:56:48Speaker 1: is very good. I think Burrow is as tough as
- 1:56:50Speaker 1: they come. Even watching him in the second half of
- 1:56:53Speaker 1: that game, it's sort of like he said to himself,
- 1:56:56Speaker 1: I just can't turn the ball over and if we
- 1:56:59Speaker 1: have to punt, it'll be okay. And he didn't make
- 1:57:01Speaker 1: it like a single mistake in that now he was
- 1:57:04Speaker 1: under like ridiculously like it just got ridiculous in the
- 1:57:09Speaker 1: like the fourth quarter of that game. That's why. If
- 1:57:11Speaker 1: that fumble doesn't happen, I think the game was over.
- 1:57:13Speaker 1: Even if they didn't get in and they just kick
- 1:57:15Speaker 1: a field goal, I don't think Cincinnati was scoring. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:57:19Speaker 1: all right, I'm gonna go with the Bills both ways
- 1:57:21Speaker 1: as well, both ways both ways. Wow, So we had
- 1:57:24Speaker 1: that one all over the map, even like Cincinnati outright,
- 1:57:27Speaker 1: I split it and you guys like Buffalo. Yeah. Six
- 1:57:30Speaker 1: thirty Sunday evening, the twelve and five Cowboys are at
- 1:57:34Speaker 1: the thirteen and four forty nine Ers Niners by three
- 1:57:38Speaker 1: and a half. Smallest spread. Tough one, tough one. Um.
- 1:57:45Speaker 1: I think it's gonna come down to the quarterback, and
- 1:57:47Speaker 1: I'm gonna go with Dallas in an upset here. Whoa, yeah,
- 1:57:51Speaker 1: not see that they played well, just a classic matchup
- 1:57:55Speaker 1: here in the NFC playoffs, Dallas forty nine Ers. But
- 1:57:57Speaker 1: I'm gonna go. I'm gonna go with the Cowboys. By
- 1:58:00Speaker 1: the way, Deuce has like a bracket sheet in front
- 1:58:03Speaker 1: of that he's filling out. I'm fascint guy, just like
- 1:58:06Speaker 1: is that? Like you can't keep track unless you do that,
- 1:58:08Speaker 1: like brackets. Not everybody's like me, I just one of
- 1:58:13Speaker 1: these days, I'm going to get this guy to go digital.
- 1:58:15Speaker 1: It's gonna be the happiest day in my life. Good
- 1:58:18Speaker 1: luck with papers. He keeps like a little a nope,
- 1:58:21Speaker 1: like a calendar notebook, like like it's nineteen ninety five.
- 1:58:24Speaker 1: He makes me look modern. Eric left, Eric printed everything
- 1:58:27Speaker 1: in the world, and now I'm the old guy. I
- 1:58:29Speaker 1: don't get so, like, when it's all done, what do
- 1:58:31Speaker 1: you do with that? You throw it out? I save
- 1:58:35Speaker 1: it in my file so that I could be like, well, actually,
- 1:58:37Speaker 1: Paul back in twenty two, I think about the trees. Man. Yeah,
- 1:58:41Speaker 1: I am going San Francisco both ways. I am going
- 1:58:45Speaker 1: to San Francisco both ways. Also, um, I do think
- 1:58:49Speaker 1: Dallas is I mean, I think you saw a little
- 1:58:51Speaker 1: bit of how good they can be. I just haven't
- 1:58:53Speaker 1: seen it consistently enough to pick it on the road.
- 1:58:56Speaker 1: I'll take San Francisco to keep that coach. Please, guy,
- 1:59:00Speaker 1: san Francisco win. I don't care by how much, just win.
- 1:59:03Speaker 1: But I'm gonna go both ways with them. I just
- 1:59:05Speaker 1: I just can't stand the Cowboys winning. They're bad enough
- 1:59:08Speaker 1: when they don't win, because they lead the league in
- 1:59:11Speaker 1: every statistic you could imagine, imagine if they start actually
- 1:59:15Speaker 1: winning real games, forget it and suffer sufferable. What do
- 1:59:18Speaker 1: you think of the game times on Sunday? Like they
- 1:59:21Speaker 1: did that, like the Super Bowl time? Yes, five years ago,
- 1:59:25Speaker 1: Championship weekend time? Yeah? Yeah, they went the Divisional round
- 1:59:28Speaker 1: three and six thirty two. I don't, I don't, I
- 1:59:30Speaker 1: don't care. If I don't care, I don't care. You
- 1:59:31Speaker 1: like it earlier? Yeah? Yeah, I got a four thirty
- 1:59:33Speaker 1: indoor baseball practice on Sunday, killing me. All right, Well
- 1:59:37Speaker 1: that's it for our show. Catch twenty two was coming
- 1:59:41Speaker 1: up right with Alex and Evan. Yes, um so that'll
- 1:59:45Speaker 1: be interesting. If you emailed, we didn't get to you.
- 1:59:48Speaker 1: Maybe you'll get to them in your show. Uh So.
- 1:59:52Speaker 1: Other than that, have a great weekend and we'll see
