John Bolton, Trump’s former national security adviser, just pleaded guilty to illegally keeping classified documents — a probe that started before Trump’s return to office. Facing up to five years in prison under the plea deal, Bolton could avoid jail entirely if the judge sides with the recommendation. The FBI raided his home and office last August. Though Bolton later turned into Trump’s vocal critic and even wrote a scathing book about his time in the White House — which the administration tried to suppress — he chose this deal over trial.
