- 0:00Speaker 1: Mm hmm.
- 0:21Speaker 2: There this is Dawn from Sound Affliction and.
- 0:26Speaker 1: Wayne, I'll do myself myself.
- 0:29Speaker 2: That's all right, go for it.
- 0:31Speaker 3: Good Wayne On the yellow guitarist and probably the best
- 0:34Speaker 3: looking member of Sound Affliction.
- 0:40Speaker 2: Yeah, I guess we've got well our new single coming
- 0:42Speaker 2: through ex Music this Friday, sober. Yeah. It's really exciting
- 0:47Speaker 2: to get some new music out there, and we're the
- 0:49Speaker 2: lyrics video they're coming with it as well. So yeah,
- 0:52Speaker 2: we're looking forward to seeing what we can do with it.
- 0:55Speaker 1: Beautiful gentlemen.
- 0:56Speaker 4: Thanks for trying to say it's been a while between
- 0:58Speaker 4: drinks certainly.
- 0:59Speaker 2: How yeah too, guys.
- 1:02Speaker 4: So, as you mentioned, sound of which will release your
- 1:05Speaker 4: new single so by this Friday, April the twenty fifth,
- 1:08Speaker 4: So how you feeling about it?
- 1:11Speaker 5: Good? Really good and excited.
- 1:12Speaker 3: This one's been a long time coming, mate, So there's
- 1:14Speaker 3: a lot of a lot of passion, a lot of.
- 1:15Speaker 5: Time into it, and it's great to be releasing this week.
- 1:18Speaker 1: XT visit.
- 1:19Speaker 5: So this is this is a real way of looking
- 1:21Speaker 5: forward to it.
- 1:22Speaker 4: Oh bad, So you can it dive into the track
- 1:25Speaker 4: a bit more from a musical point of view for us,
- 1:28Speaker 4: I guess and tell us what you were going for
- 1:29Speaker 4: with it.
- 1:31Speaker 2: It's one of those songs I think. You know, we
- 1:33Speaker 2: came with a bit of a demo track a while
- 1:35Speaker 2: ago on it and we all thought, now, it's not
- 1:38Speaker 2: a complicated song, but it's nice, simple but it's got
- 1:41Speaker 2: that catchy, real drive to it as one of those
- 1:46Speaker 2: that knocked together quite quickly, came together quite quickly, flicked
- 1:49Speaker 2: over to Maddie who does all the lyrics, and he
- 1:52Speaker 2: was going through a bit of a rough patch at
- 1:53Speaker 2: the time and sort of poured his heart out on
- 1:56Speaker 2: the on the vocals, which gives it its own sort
- 1:58Speaker 2: of haunting melody, I guess to it. So it's one
- 2:03Speaker 2: of those songs you know, we thought it could be
- 2:06Speaker 2: good for us, you know, it's it's got a got
- 2:08Speaker 2: a good feel to it, and yeah, it just everyone
- 2:12Speaker 2: likes it, and everyone likes how it came out, and it.
- 2:16Speaker 4: Touched on it there by like little listen to this song.
- 2:18Speaker 4: It sounds like it's got a deeper, more personal meaning.
- 2:21Speaker 4: So what's what's the story behind sober?
- 2:24Speaker 2: So the words I'll quote Maddie on this keep asking
- 2:28Speaker 2: what what does it actually mean? And his words are
- 2:32Speaker 2: it's a reflection of losing a person that you hold
- 2:34Speaker 2: deer in life and facing the reality of moving forward
- 2:37Speaker 2: without them. So he was going to build a rough
- 2:41Speaker 2: patch when you wrote this and pretty down by the
- 2:44Speaker 2: sound of it, and have a few things going on.
- 2:47Speaker 2: And it was one of those time and place moments
- 2:49Speaker 2: where he was able to write a song that fit
- 2:52Speaker 2: with with music and the lyrics and it just came together.
- 2:56Speaker 4: Now, I've got to say with songs on this guy's
- 2:58Speaker 4: like it's essentially a baland but it's a power ballad
- 3:01Speaker 4: like but songs like this can quite often sort of
- 3:04Speaker 4: just become dreary and you know, in a little bit style.
- 3:07Speaker 4: But you guys have managed to there's quite a few
- 3:09Speaker 4: parts in a way up the tempo just slightly for
- 3:12Speaker 4: a little bit and then you pull it back.
- 3:13Speaker 1: Like how how difficult is that to get right in
- 3:17Speaker 1: a song like this?
- 3:17Speaker 4: Like no one when to up the tempo and when
- 3:19Speaker 4: to bring it back and not go overboard with things
- 3:22Speaker 4: like that.
- 3:25Speaker 5: I think that one just blowed naturally, really.
- 3:27Speaker 3: I mean, Dan really wrote the music for it, but
- 3:29Speaker 3: that one, it just even when we started playing from
- 3:32Speaker 3: the way it go, it flowed.
- 3:33Speaker 5: For us really well. Yeah, I really think it is
- 3:36Speaker 5: that difficult at all. Nothing.
- 3:38Speaker 2: It wasn't.
- 3:39Speaker 5: I didn't overthinking.
- 3:40Speaker 2: I don't think it was more just it came and
- 3:43Speaker 2: it really didn't change too much from the digital demo
- 3:47Speaker 2: to what it is now. Apart from the production we've
- 3:50Speaker 2: we've got keV Brown who's playing bass with us doing
- 3:58Speaker 2: the production on the stuff, and he's a really good,
- 4:02Speaker 2: good guy and he's been able to make that make
- 4:05Speaker 2: it sound pretty huge as well.
- 4:08Speaker 1: M hmm.
- 4:09Speaker 4: Yeah, because when it first started, like I sat back
- 4:11Speaker 4: and I thought, I here we go again.
- 4:13Speaker 1: Another fucking love song, A lot of soppy one.
- 4:15Speaker 4: But like I said, I really like the way it
- 4:18Speaker 4: gained in intensity briefly and then pulled back in like
- 4:21Speaker 4: it's sort.
- 4:21Speaker 5: Of it was.
- 4:22Speaker 4: It was a soppy ballad, but it was a tough
- 4:25Speaker 4: soppy ballad.
- 4:28Speaker 2: Yeah. It's funny because when we first started looking at well,
- 4:32Speaker 2: what's the next release going to be? It was on
- 4:34Speaker 2: the list, but it necessarily wasn't at the top. But
- 4:37Speaker 2: talking to Tim at ex Music, he was like the
- 4:39Speaker 2: one who kind of said, no, I think this one
- 4:41Speaker 2: needs to go first. So we sort of listened and Okay,
- 4:44Speaker 2: let's go for it.
- 4:49Speaker 4: Yeah, and I guess the big question, guys is is
- 4:51Speaker 4: Sober a standalone single or is it part of a
- 4:54Speaker 4: bigger album picture.
- 4:56Speaker 2: It's it's definitely part of an album. We've been plugging away.
- 5:00Speaker 2: Oh it seems like forever pulling this thing together. Whi's
- 5:03Speaker 2: going to be eleven song album. Tentatively hoping we'll get
- 5:07Speaker 2: it out there September time. We've got the first three
- 5:11Speaker 2: singles lined up ready to go, all done, dusted, videos
- 5:16Speaker 2: and things all in the bag. So really, please do
- 5:20Speaker 2: plan to get the band going forward.
- 5:24Speaker 4: Now I know the answer of this one because I've
- 5:26Speaker 4: got a bit of a history with you guys. But
- 5:28Speaker 4: it is Sober, a good, good sonic representation, I guess.
- 5:32Speaker 1: So what we expect from the whole album, that's a
- 5:36Speaker 1: good question.
- 5:37Speaker 3: I think there's a lot of diversity in the album
- 5:38Speaker 3: as well, Like there are some songs that are a
- 5:40Speaker 3: lot heavier and get a lot harder, and there's a
- 5:42Speaker 3: couple of songs that are along the lines of Sober
- 5:44Speaker 3: as well.
- 5:45Speaker 5: So it's very dynamic what we do.
- 5:46Speaker 3: And that's kind of what's I think kept all us interested,
- 5:49Speaker 3: but kept our you know, our audience is interested too.
- 5:52Speaker 3: So yeah, there's there's some heavy stuff coming to really
- 5:56Speaker 3: heavy stuff.
- 5:57Speaker 4: Nice what too, is that track too to introduce the
- 6:01Speaker 4: album to the world.
- 6:01Speaker 1: Then, I guess, oh, good question.
- 6:07Speaker 2: I think it was one that we're all quite passionate about.
- 6:10Speaker 2: It's one that we've we've come to know really well
- 6:13Speaker 2: and originally, you know, go back a couple of years
- 6:16Speaker 2: tart ago, we were playing around with that song. We
- 6:18Speaker 2: really thought it could be a good single. But there's
- 6:23Speaker 2: also a track called Devil in Me, which was the
- 6:26Speaker 2: first one we recorded from the album, and it just
- 6:28Speaker 2: sounds great and we thought, oh, that would be the one,
- 6:31Speaker 2: but it's a lot heavier. But yeah, I guess it
- 6:34Speaker 2: just sort of came together and you know, it's it's
- 6:39Speaker 2: a good, solid song. Hopefully it introduces a bit of
- 6:42Speaker 2: light shade. At the they were hard rock band. We've
- 6:46Speaker 2: got some heavy parts, we've got something, but Matty's vocals
- 6:49Speaker 2: keep it in that sort of melodic zone, not too
- 6:54Speaker 2: heavy and not too light, so it kind of gives
- 6:56Speaker 2: a good representation of it. I think.
- 7:00Speaker 5: That should appeal to a fairly large audience, I think.
- 7:04Speaker 4: And then then it's that sort of the thought process
- 7:06Speaker 4: going into like choosing the first song from an album
- 7:09Speaker 4: like something that would appear to a wider audience more
- 7:12Speaker 4: side than something than you guys personally favor.
- 7:17Speaker 2: Probably a bit of both, I think, trying to find
- 7:20Speaker 2: that happy medium. I mean, the next sort of singles
- 7:22Speaker 2: we've got, We've got hopefully Sober coming out this Friday,
- 7:25Speaker 2: and then we've got Devil and Me about eight weeks later,
- 7:28Speaker 2: and then the next single like that is leave a
- 7:30Speaker 2: Light On. Now that song, if you'd asked me twelve
- 7:33Speaker 2: months ago, I would have thought now, it probably won't
- 7:35Speaker 2: be a single. But the way it's come together, it's
- 7:38Speaker 2: a really good song and kind of shocked us a bit.
- 7:43Speaker 2: This could actually be good because it shows showcases a
- 7:45Speaker 2: lot of diversity in the band.
- 7:49Speaker 4: Now, you guys recently signed with Ex Music as well,
- 7:52Speaker 4: which is it's a growing label with an impressive roster.
- 7:56Speaker 1: It's got bands like this and sisters.
- 7:58Speaker 4: Dol Franken Bark, dreampiller Us Heaves the band signed on mate.
- 8:02Speaker 4: So what what sorts of things does it open up
- 8:04Speaker 4: for you as a band joining forces with someone like
- 8:08Speaker 4: EX Music.
- 8:09Speaker 2: I think for us it was a real great opportunity
- 8:12Speaker 2: to get involved, like I said, with some great bands
- 8:14Speaker 2: playing there on there and just seeing what those bands
- 8:17Speaker 2: have been able. They're growing. They've been out during the
- 8:27Speaker 2: support slots on some international things. So yeah, from our perspective,
- 8:32Speaker 2: it seems like a great opportunity to join in with
- 8:35Speaker 2: some of those things and get the music out to
- 8:37Speaker 2: all why their audience, which is where we sort of
- 8:40Speaker 2: we're hitting the ceiling ourselves.
- 8:45Speaker 5: Exactly. Yeah, appeal to your audio. You have music in
- 8:48Speaker 5: front of more ears.
- 8:51Speaker 1: Always a bonus, isn't it now? I hope this is
- 8:55Speaker 1: still going ahead.
- 8:56Speaker 4: But you know you're watching a single at the Tribe
- 8:58Speaker 4: in red Cliff that's part of Metal United down Under
- 9:01Speaker 4: this Saturday, April twenty sixth, So tell us a bit
- 9:03Speaker 4: more about that side.
- 9:05Speaker 2: Oh yeah, no, So we've got a call from the
- 9:08Speaker 2: guy who was organizing that that show and said, oh,
- 9:10Speaker 2: I know you've got a single coming out, how do
- 9:12Speaker 2: you feel like doing lunch on that day? Perfect? If
- 9:15Speaker 2: we can make it work, let's do it. So yeah,
- 9:18Speaker 2: it came to really quickly, and yeah, it's just just
- 9:23Speaker 2: good to get back out playing. You know, it's nice
- 9:25Speaker 2: to play live shows and get out in front of
- 9:27Speaker 2: an audience and to blow the co webs off.
- 9:31Speaker 1: On bet And have you got any other sites coming
- 9:32Speaker 1: up better than that one?
- 9:34Speaker 2: At the moment. We we kind of haven't because we've
- 9:36Speaker 2: been really focusing on getting this album wrapped up and
- 9:40Speaker 2: getting a process going with that. So and then that
- 9:44Speaker 2: that's what must be about eight weeks. I've got a
- 9:46Speaker 2: little bit of a trip overseas, so I'll be away
- 9:48Speaker 2: for a while, so when we get back it'll be
- 9:50Speaker 2: all all systems go. After that, I think.
- 9:54Speaker 5: Looking forward to getting back up there mate, blowing some
- 9:56Speaker 5: brains out.
- 10:02Speaker 4: So that's the best place for people to keep up
- 10:04Speaker 4: with Soundffliction order to listening music.
- 10:09Speaker 2: I guess it's the usual. The Facebook page Soundfliction Band
- 10:14Speaker 2: is the main main thing we use, and then Spotify
- 10:16Speaker 2: and the usual corporates and the Apple Music and all
- 10:19Speaker 2: the different pieces.
- 10:22Speaker 4: Yeah, very nice, very nice, indeed, Well, thanks very much
- 10:27Speaker 4: for your time, gentlemen.
- 10:28Speaker 1: It's been a pleasure catching up again.
- 10:29Speaker 4: The song Sober is out this Friday with a music video,
- 10:33Speaker 4: and it's a cracker of a cracker of a ballad
- 10:35Speaker 4: my guys, Like I said, I generally switch off as
- 10:38Speaker 4: soon as the word ballad comes up, but you guys
- 10:40Speaker 4: have done al right with this one, so I'm looking
- 10:41Speaker 4: forward to hearing the art stuff.
- 10:43Speaker 2: I appreciate it.
- 10:43Speaker 5: Thanks Chris, appreciate.
- 10:45Speaker 6: Mm hmmm, I have thought anything.
- 11:05Speaker 7: All that I wanted to be, got a beny imagination,
- 11:13Speaker 7: never letting it every.
- 11:17Speaker 8: I never got a fly, but there we were in
- 11:25Speaker 8: that we were transcendentine. Don't just a sweet flew SOPAD.
- 11:38Speaker 1: Got that.
- 11:54Speaker 9: Out? You don't pay so.
- 12:13Speaker 1: I never wanted to be the man that has come
- 12:19Speaker 1: to me.
- 12:21Speaker 8: Chios belavored, who knows why? Lone and empty to me?
- 12:29Speaker 8: Now all I won't see much better version of me,
- 12:37Speaker 8: free from two man, free from me, free from all
- 12:43Speaker 8: that seemed to breathe to me.
- 13:01Speaker 9: Oh my god, day don lay so so so crowd
- 14:10Speaker 9: Dad's again? Sign that's a day that's over. Don't dad
- 14:31Speaker 9: dank God play the so.
- 14:37Speaker 8: So so.
- 14:42Speaker 2: That.
- 14:42Speaker 9: That's a reason. That's a take down. I don't talk
- 15:05Speaker 9: so so soo
