Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: All right, guys. Let's move on to Deion Sanders. Deion Sanders.
- 0:10Speaker 1: Popular name, right? I know Colorado fans. Well, I ain't
- 0:13Speaker 1: going to say Colorado fans. The primetime bandwagoners that we've
- 0:15Speaker 1: been seeing on Twitter. The cult of primetime bandwagoners. They've
- 0:18Speaker 1: been kind of pushing for this. It's kind of like LeBron, man.
- 0:22Speaker 1: That shit reminds me of LeBron fan base. They're just
- 0:25Speaker 1: trying to transition to their next damn team to try
- 0:28Speaker 1: to infiltrate in that type of deal and be leeches.
- 0:32Speaker 1: And that's what's happening with the primetime crazies over at Colorado. Hey,
- 0:39Speaker 1: they're looking at Florida State and trying to make that push.
- 0:41Speaker 1: So let's talk about it a little bit. It would
- 0:43Speaker 1: be a marketing dream, right? I think he would be
- 0:45Speaker 1: able to attract top Florida guys to come to FSU
- 0:49Speaker 1: just off the strength. He says all the time he
- 0:51Speaker 1: is hard to find in the FSU. He really wouldn't
- 0:54Speaker 1: be hard to find at all. like it would be
- 0:56Speaker 1: that easy. And that's part of the reason why I
- 0:58Speaker 1: wanted him to take the South Florida job instead of
- 1:02Speaker 1: the Colorado job way back when, because I felt like
- 1:04Speaker 1: it had been easier from that G5 level to come
- 1:06Speaker 1: in and dominate South Florida and be in contention for
- 1:09Speaker 1: the college football playoffs. You're in Florida, you're in Tampa,
- 1:13Speaker 1: a few hours from his hometown of Fort Myers. You're
- 1:17Speaker 1: going to instantly, just like you did to Colorado, you're
- 1:19Speaker 1: going to instantly bring economic growth to the area. Colorado's
- 1:24Speaker 1: attendance was down. You hire a prime, they're selling out games.
- 1:28Speaker 1: The exact same thing would have happened at South Florida.
- 1:30Speaker 1: Him being at South Florida, I think annually he would
- 1:34Speaker 1: have plucked a recruit from either Florida, Florida State, or
- 1:38Speaker 1: Miami that one of the big three teams wanted. He
- 1:41Speaker 1: would have got at least one recruit per cycle, in
- 1:43Speaker 1: my opinion, from one of those schools. Middle of the grade, four-star,
- 1:48Speaker 1: that type of deal. He would have got one prospect
- 1:50Speaker 1: at Florida, Florida State, or Miami. prioritize highly, in my opinion, Angle.
- 1:54Speaker 1: He would have got at least one. Those are the pros.
- 2:01Speaker 1: Not a lot, really. Cons. How serious are you as
- 2:04Speaker 1: a head coach? This shit takes work. How serious are
- 2:11Speaker 1: you as a head coach? It truly takes work. College
- 2:13Speaker 1: football coaches, that shit is a grind. How serious are you?
- 2:17Speaker 1: You have the whole notion that he doesn't do visits.
- 2:20Speaker 1: He doesn't go on campus. He doesn't go into the
- 2:22Speaker 1: houses and that type of deal. Really, bro? Really. And
- 2:27Speaker 1: I got flack from the Colorado Colts fans on this
- 2:29Speaker 1: because I feel that's lazy. That's a lazy recruiting tactic,
- 2:33Speaker 1: in my opinion, to not do in-home visits. The greatest
- 2:38Speaker 1: coach of all time, Nick Saban, did in-home visits. In-home
- 2:43Speaker 1: visits and he recruited high school. Kirby Smart does in-home
- 2:46Speaker 1: visits and visited high schools. Ryan Day does in-home. He
- 2:52Speaker 1: visits kids. Mario Cristobal, he visits these kids. Bobby Bowden,
- 2:58Speaker 1: the head coach that you play for, that you love
- 3:01Speaker 1: so much, that you hold in such a high regard,
- 3:05Speaker 1: one of the best head coaches of all time, prioritizes visits,
- 3:11Speaker 1: in-home visits. You talk about Mickey Andrews coming to your
- 3:15Speaker 1: basketball game to see you playing as a recruit. You
- 3:18Speaker 1: have highlighted that. You have spoken about that. Hell no! Like, right.
- 3:25Speaker 1: If those guys can do it, why can't you do it?
- 3:30Speaker 1: You aren't bigger than the program as a head coach, bro.
- 3:32Speaker 1: I'm sorry. And I think you may think that because, granted,
- 3:34Speaker 1: you're still prime time. Huge personality. One of the most
- 3:38Speaker 1: personable athletes you will, colorful athletes you will ever see.
- 3:43Speaker 1: He's just a walking, he's just walking, I don't know
- 3:47Speaker 1: the word to use. He's just so damn marketable where
- 3:50Speaker 1: he's just a walking, Walking market, I don't know the
- 3:52Speaker 1: damn word to use, man. But whatever that is, he's
- 3:54Speaker 1: that guy. I get that. But, bro, this is football, man. Like,
- 4:00Speaker 1: you want the biggest fish in the pond to come
- 4:03Speaker 1: to this. These players matter more. These players come first.
- 4:07Speaker 1: Not you as a head coach. Not you, your ego,
- 4:09Speaker 1: to say I'm not hard to find. Like, come see
- 4:11Speaker 1: me at Colorado? Bro. These kids just aren't coming just because...
- 4:18Speaker 1: At a certain time, it could have been that. And
- 4:20Speaker 1: it was in the beginning just because of your name.
- 4:23Speaker 1: They could try to come at that. But once you
- 4:24Speaker 1: start actually playing on the field and putting out subpar performances, product,
- 4:32Speaker 1: you're not putting in the resources to actually recruit me.
- 4:35Speaker 1: These kids want to be... They're divas. Simple as that.
- 4:37Speaker 1: They want to be courted. They want to feel the love.
- 4:40Speaker 1: They want to feel that. They want that. You have to...
- 4:43Speaker 1: You have to press them. You have to You have
- 4:46Speaker 1: to do all of that. You have to do all that.
- 4:54Speaker 1: So that's one of the reasons. I just can't get
- 4:56Speaker 1: behind that. And their recruiting rankings have struggled in due
- 5:02Speaker 1: to that. I mean, they haven't recruited well at all. Yeah,
- 5:05Speaker 1: you get you a splash player every now and then.
- 5:07Speaker 1: You get the offensive tackle. Of course, Travis on that
- 5:10Speaker 1: type of deal. But getting one of those players every
- 5:13Speaker 1: few cycles isn't enough to win at Colorado. And it's
- 5:17Speaker 1: damn sure it isn't enough to win at the high
- 5:20Speaker 1: level that Florida State demands, right? So he also mentioned
- 5:24Speaker 1: that if he went to one high school, he would
- 5:27Speaker 1: have to go to all the high schools in the area. Dion,
- 5:33Speaker 1: my brother, that's the point. That is the point. You
- 5:38Speaker 1: build those relationships. You never know what those schools' coaches
- 5:42Speaker 1: will have from a talent standpoint in the future. They
- 5:44Speaker 1: may not have the kid you want right now, but
- 5:47Speaker 1: in two years, they could have that guy. But you
- 5:50Speaker 1: didn't build those relationships in the beginning. When you first
- 5:53Speaker 1: got the job with those coaches, you're behind the eight
- 5:56Speaker 1: ball with that guy. So you have to build those
- 5:58Speaker 1: relationships within the school, the areas within those schools. You
- 6:00Speaker 1: got to hit every damn school within the area because
- 6:02Speaker 1: you never know what those guys will have. Recruiting is
- 6:07Speaker 1: all about relationships, man. It's all about relationships. You have
- 6:09Speaker 1: to build those relationships in my opinion. Um, You never
- 6:13Speaker 1: know what those schools' coaches will have from a talent
- 6:15Speaker 1: standpoint in the future. That's why you have to keep
- 6:17Speaker 1: going by that. And let's be frank, man. The CU
- 6:19Speaker 1: experience has been a disaster. Yeah, I get it. They
- 6:22Speaker 1: were really bad prior to prime getting there. But outside
- 6:25Speaker 1: of hitting lightning in a bottle, we're flipping Trav from
- 6:28Speaker 1: Florida State. And Coach, your son's been real lackluster. I
- 6:32Speaker 1: also didn't like how he handled the benching of his quarterback, Lewis.
- 6:36Speaker 1: The kid that was supposed to be next in line
- 6:39Speaker 1: behind Shador Sanders as, quote unquote, the highly recruited quarterback
- 6:43Speaker 1: and that type of deal. There's some long lines of
- 6:47Speaker 1: not actually talking to him and talking about the benching
- 6:50Speaker 1: and that type of deal. I feel like that's a
- 6:53Speaker 1: bad look, in my opinion, from Pram. You still have
- 6:55Speaker 1: to develop mentally, right? You still have to cultivate that kid.
- 6:59Speaker 1: You still have to speak life in him. He's young.
- 7:02Speaker 1: He's young. You don't want to throw him to the side.
- 7:04Speaker 1: You're not ready now, but we still believe in you.
- 7:06Speaker 1: We still want to develop you just in the third.
- 7:07Speaker 1: You've got to have that conversation, especially when you're bitching
- 7:09Speaker 1: one quarterback to another. I feel like him saying that
- 7:12Speaker 1: he didn't have a conversation with the quarterback was a
- 7:13Speaker 1: little bit crazy. But again, those are the pros and
- 7:15Speaker 1: cons with Deion. I would not be a fan of
- 7:17Speaker 1: actually hiring him to Florida State. Again, recruiting is the
- 7:21Speaker 1: lifeblood of your program, and that shit does a lot
- 7:22Speaker 1: of work. I do think him saying I'm not hard
- 7:25Speaker 1: to find at Florida State versus Colorado is a big difference.
- 7:28Speaker 1: I don't think it's a big enough difference to actually
- 7:30Speaker 1: put FSU– in the category they need to be at
- 7:34Speaker 1: as far as winning these recruits and then ultimately winning
- 7:36Speaker 1: games on the field based upon those recruiting wins.
