- 0:12Hello friends, it's Sean here and it's Friday.
- 0:15Yes, it's the 9th of May. We've made it through another
- 0:19week and I apologise if my perkiness is a bit much.
- 0:23I listen to myself sometimes and I think, my goodness, Sean,
- 0:26steady on there champ. You are.
- 0:28You are full of rainbows and bubble gums and unicorns.
- 0:32My goodness, just dial it back. Yeah, I'm not very good at
- 0:36dialling it back. So sorry.
- 0:38It's just how I roll. You can.
- 0:40You can always skip forward 30 seconds and miss my perkiness
- 0:43and catch me as I settle down. Ah, here you go.
- 0:45See, just like that, I've settled down and we, we are
- 0:48settling down into another day. Another day where we get to read
- 0:53some proverbs and pull apart these fantastic little
- 0:58observations of truth about the way the world works so that we
- 1:02can hopefully become a little wiser each day that we spend in
- 1:07the proverbs. So let's do that, friends.
- 1:09Let us grab hold of this ancient wisdom and shine through its
- 1:14lens into our day today as we read together Proverbs 12/15 to
- 1:2021. Fools think their own way is
- 1:33right, but the wise listen to others.
- 1:40The fools think their own way is right, but the wise listen to
- 1:45others. A fool is quick tempered, but a
- 1:50wise person stays calm when insulted.
- 1:56A fool is quick tempered, but a wise person stays calm when
- 2:01insulted. An honest witness tells the
- 2:07truth. A false witness tells lies.
- 2:14An honest witness tells the truth.
- 2:17A false witness tells lies. Some people make cutting
- 2:23remarks, but the words of the wise bring healing.
- 2:31Some people make cutting remarks, but the words of the
- 2:34wise bring healing. Truthful words stand the test of
- 2:43time, but lies are soon exposed. Truthful words stand the test of
- 2:51time, but lies are soon exposed. Deceit fills hearts that are
- 3:01plotting evil. Joy fills hearts that are
- 3:04planning peace. Deceit fills hearts that are
- 3:10plotting evil. Joy fill hearts that are
- 3:13planning peace. No harm comes to the godly, but
- 3:21the wicked have their fill of trouble.
- 3:27No harm comes to the godly, but the wicked have their fill of
- 3:32trouble. Our Lord, we see only too
- 3:46clearly that you value those who tell the truth, those who speak
- 3:53with wisdom and honesty. But Lord, verse 20 tells us that
- 4:01deceit fills hearts that are plotting evil, but it's joy, joy
- 4:06that fills hearts that are planning peace.
- 4:09Our Lord, we so often wish that we could find more joy in our
- 4:13lives. And here you tell us that when
- 4:17our hearts are planning for peace, when our hearts are
- 4:21seeking reconciliation, when our hearts are moving toward
- 4:26wholeness and calm, that's where we find joy.
- 4:33So, Lord, help shift the destination of our plans, not
- 4:40for greater prosperity, not for greater success, but for peace.
- 4:46And as we work toward that peace in our lives, that wholeness,
- 4:51that fullness in you, that's where we find joy that will fill
- 4:57our heart. Thank you for the joy that we
- 5:01have in you, for all that you've done for us and for all that we
- 5:05are in You. So it's in that joy with joyful
- 5:11hearts that we praise you and pray all of this in your
- 5:14wonderful name, Jesus, Amen.
