Transcript
- 0:05[SPEAKER_00]: with Nick Kendall and Scott Kennedy.
- 0:09[SPEAKER_01]: Welcome in.
- 0:09[SPEAKER_01]: Welcome in.
- 0:10[SPEAKER_01]: It is Wednesday morning.
- 0:12[SPEAKER_01]: Gosh, uh, have losing track of the days.
- 0:14[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, it's time for an episode of Broncos for breakfast.
- 0:16[SPEAKER_01]: I am Nick Kendall joined by Eric trickle Eric.
- 0:20[SPEAKER_01]: Good morning to your mustache.
- 0:21[SPEAKER_01]: Doesn't look so mustachey.
- 0:22[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, today.
- 0:23[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if it's the lighting.
- 0:24[SPEAKER_01]: Did you trim it up?
- 0:24[SPEAKER_01]: What's going on?
- 0:26[SPEAKER_00]: It's probably lighting.
- 0:26[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't do anything with it.
- 0:29[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 0:29[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 0:30[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I miss it.
- 0:31[SPEAKER_01]: I'm excited.
- 0:32[SPEAKER_01]: I think you definitely want to just that at some point, just the mustache.
- 0:35[SPEAKER_01]: But a winters, you know, right around the corner here, you keep in is the beard here to stay.
- 0:39[SPEAKER_01]: It's, uh, it's obviously the summers the most annoying time.
- 0:42[SPEAKER_01]: It's definitely more of a winter look typically, uh, is this is this the new Eric trickle, uh, or is it going to be going to see a fresh baby face here at some point?
- 0:51[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, I've been contemplating shaving it.
- 0:53[SPEAKER_00]: It's an again, rather annoying.
- 0:55[SPEAKER_00]: You mentioned in my session.
- 0:56[SPEAKER_00]: Some long hair there that just gets in my mouth or gets in my nose and just tickles my nose really bothers me.
- 1:05[SPEAKER_00]: So I've been contemplating shaving it, but or trimming it down, but the wife loves it.
- 1:10[SPEAKER_00]: So I haven't touched it just yet and still debating on at one point, do I upset or just shave it all off?
- 1:17[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I get that.
- 1:18[SPEAKER_01]: I just keep it on a trim.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_01]: We do have the little kid as a haircut today.
- 1:21[SPEAKER_01]: So we'll see how that goes.
- 1:22[SPEAKER_01]: Last time he was good, but you know, it's with toddlers, he'd last time doesn't mean anything.
- 1:27[SPEAKER_01]: It could be completely different experience this time.
- 1:30[SPEAKER_01]: So we'll see how it goes.
- 1:32[SPEAKER_01]: But we do want to say hello as people are trickling in the chat here hanging out with us this August, thirteenth.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_01]: We got our guy David Junkin says talking about our topic.
- 1:42[SPEAKER_01]: I love how David always jumps in with just you know, it's thought on the whatever the title is of the show.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_01]: So we're talking about Bronco second joint practice sticking out against the NFC West to play in the intriguing Arizona cardinals.
- 1:55[SPEAKER_01]: I guess is how I'll put them there.
- 1:56[SPEAKER_01]: They're interesting.
- 1:59[SPEAKER_01]: He says what's interesting for him and what he's watching for is the offensive line in all of the starting players on offense.
- 2:03[SPEAKER_01]: So it's good number there.
- 2:07[SPEAKER_01]: I think you're talking the depth of the offensive line as well.
- 2:09[SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, we'll definitely get into it.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_01]: We got Dave Glassman in the house saying where my broco's book clubbers sure they're around, but we're also looking for where our MHH members become a member of the MHH YouTube team become a member out there.
- 2:25[SPEAKER_01]: And just like our guy,
- 2:27[SPEAKER_01]: Of course, Dave Glossman there.
- 2:28[SPEAKER_01]: You can see that a little symbol next to his name there on our stream.
- 2:31[SPEAKER_01]: It becomes up a green as well.
- 2:34[SPEAKER_01]: Your name is green.
- 2:34[SPEAKER_01]: So make sure you guys join Dave and you have the plenty of things.
- 2:37[SPEAKER_01]: Kelvman's corner was yesterday.
- 2:38[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sure there's more on the horizon as well.
- 2:40[SPEAKER_01]: Chad's talked to me about stuff right now.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_01]: I'm in the thralls of packing up the house and getting ready for a move here in a little God bless, a little less or a little over a month.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_01]: I'm excited to move to Denver, but I am very sad to leave.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_01]: See, I love it out here so much.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_01]: That's okay.
- 2:57[SPEAKER_01]: You can always come back and visit and stuff.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_01]: It's a great place to visit the mountains specifically.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_01]: David Young can never grow a beard or a mustache.
- 3:06[SPEAKER_01]: I typically, I wish I had more fill in here.
- 3:09[SPEAKER_01]: And it's like, now it's like, hey, it kind of looks like Goatie as I can't do anything about it.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_01]: I guess at least I have something there.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_01]: And it does go down kind of the neckbrew.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_01]: But like the actual growth.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_01]: Not as much else.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_01]: I don't have the hairy back or the hairy chest.
- 3:21[SPEAKER_01]: So I guess that's good or good or bad, depending on whatever.
- 3:24[SPEAKER_01]: My wife doesn't like the hairy chest though.
- 3:25[SPEAKER_01]: So easy maintenance.
- 3:27[SPEAKER_01]: David coming in here.
- 3:29[SPEAKER_01]: Greetings.
- 3:29[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you can talk more about body hair if you guys want.
- 3:31[SPEAKER_01]: We'll do it for super chats though.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, twenty dollars in will show.
- 3:34[SPEAKER_01]: David coming into your greetings to all of you from Aurora, Colorado, David.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_01]: That's, I'm heading out that way.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, myself.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_01]: And that's my wife's going to be working at Anchots.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_01]: Anchots.
- 3:44[SPEAKER_01]: I have hard time pronouncing it.
- 3:45[SPEAKER_01]: So.
- 3:46[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm looking forward to figuring out the area and getting the kid in daycare.
- 3:50[SPEAKER_01]: Now I got to find a job.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_01]: That's next.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_01]: Sentinel Supreme, five, eight, five, and nights is more agents.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_01]: I have returned.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, you have Sentinel good to see.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_01]: I've been watching the pods while I work out.
- 4:00[SPEAKER_01]: Heck, yeah, what even working on Sentinel is it just any goals right now.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_01]: Let us know in the chat.
- 4:05[SPEAKER_01]: I need to get back into the lifting as well.
- 4:07[SPEAKER_01]: We got a bunch of free weights that
- 4:10[SPEAKER_01]: probably going to sell before moving, just so we don't have to move them and reset the gym and Denver, but we'll see.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_01]: But I need to get back into it.
- 4:17[SPEAKER_01]: I need to work on that lower body to protect the joints long term.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, that's great to hear.
- 4:21[SPEAKER_01]: Always good to be moving your body.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_01]: Make sure you're getting your fiber and your protein to match that as well.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_01]: You can't lose weight or to get hit your goals if the nutrition and diet isn't matched with it.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_01]: Michael, good to see you.
- 4:33[SPEAKER_01]: This is Michael Rakeo coming in over on the YouTube side of things.
- 4:37[SPEAKER_01]: How can I tell?
- 4:38[SPEAKER_01]: Talking about the handsome face, facial hair, look at that mustache.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_01]: I can see that even though the picture is like half the size of a dime, I can see that mustache coming through.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_01]: He says, good morning.
- 4:46[SPEAKER_01]: Everybody on the mile high hotel podcast, go book, Broncos.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_01]: Good to see you.
- 4:51[SPEAKER_01]: It does kind of throw me off that where you have now these like ads, uh, user names rather than the actual names.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if I love it or not, uh, but it's kind of fun to see everybody's fun names.
- 5:00[SPEAKER_01]: Jamal killings.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_01]: I know that one, of course, morning, Broncos country.
- 5:03[SPEAKER_01]: Got another member coming in and see you guys.
- 5:05[SPEAKER_01]: There's plenty of us.
- 5:06[SPEAKER_01]: Make sure you join us.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_01]: It says, hey, falls in here much about, uh, how Bailey fared from the joint practice or Saturday's game.
- 5:13[SPEAKER_01]: Erick, if you heard anything about Bailey, uh, in the joint practice or Saturday's game.
- 5:18[SPEAKER_00]: From the joint practice last week, I haven't heard much, but as for the game watching it, he wasn't good.
- 5:25[SPEAKER_00]: Can you add on to that?
- 5:27[SPEAKER_00]: And just the way his run fills were off.
- 5:30[SPEAKER_00]: He just consistently seemed to be hitting the wrong lane, but that may be just a miscalculation on my part of figuring out what their run lanes are, what their run disciplines are.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_00]: And then in coverage, he was fine in coverage, but we've come to expect he was decent in coverage last year and take that set forward.
- 5:49[SPEAKER_00]: And then special teams was another area where he needed just improving though he was a core special team player last year.
- 5:55[SPEAKER_00]: He wasn't great at it.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_00]: I don't remember.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_01]: There's a reason that immediately Sanders seemed to replace him.
- 6:02[SPEAKER_00]: There's a reason for it.
- 6:04[SPEAKER_00]: And I can't remember how many snaps you played on.
- 6:06[SPEAKER_00]: It seems that it wasn't great either.
- 6:07[SPEAKER_00]: So it's just a matter of getting it all put together and seeing it.
- 6:11[SPEAKER_00]: He's done it in most practices, just in translate to the game.
- 6:14[SPEAKER_00]: And as we're doing practice, I haven't heard it didn't hear much specifically about how Bailey did.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_01]: He did have a good bout there about a week ago in Broncos camp.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, we'll see about him.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_01]: Even if he becomes a average level linebacker in the league or even the hex, let's even at slightly below average, you can get by.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_01]: That's great depth.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_01]: First off, but for an undrafted free agent, but you can get by for a year.
- 6:41[SPEAKER_01]: So we'll see what the Broncos do.
- 6:42[SPEAKER_01]: They're going to have to have some guys like that step up just to fill in with the roster structure.
- 6:46[SPEAKER_01]: Looks like even with the
- 6:48[SPEAKER_01]: cost controlled rookie quarterback.
- 6:50[SPEAKER_01]: You still have all these big paid guys.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_01]: So you're you really have a lot of value.
- 6:55[SPEAKER_01]: You can find those on draft of guys that can fill in for a couple years.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_01]: Even if they're not plus players, I'm not saying Bayley can't be obviously came from Fresno State and was a safety transition to linebacker.
- 7:07[SPEAKER_01]: So always looks smooth at a little better in covers.
- 7:09[SPEAKER_01]: It is the taking on the runs, getting off blocks, gap filling that is
- 7:15[SPEAKER_01]: a working progress.
- 7:16[SPEAKER_01]: I guess so we'll see ideally we don't see him this season.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_01]: It does seem like right now.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_01]: I've right now I'd had to bet that Justin Strenaud would probably be the first guy off the bench as opposed to Bailey and then obviously there's excitement for Bailey.
- 7:30[SPEAKER_01]: If single dinner green law did miss time, but you know, there's hope for Bailey as well.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_01]: And he does seem like right now he's probably a lock to make the fifty three.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_01]: But we'll see.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he doesn't have competition from a
- 7:44[SPEAKER_01]: Korean read, I think as well, Kansas, undrafted free agent, a linebacker who out of the three they brought in has been generating the most consistent buzz.
- 7:53[SPEAKER_01]: Not necessarily, I can come in and then turn it as well.
- 7:59[SPEAKER_00]: I've heard more about Turner than Reed outside of the Interception Reed had in the game.
- 8:03[SPEAKER_00]: I heard basically one good thing from practice about him, which was another good play in coverage.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_00]: But Turner has been just such a force against the run, both between the tackles on outside of the tackles.
- 8:17[SPEAKER_00]: That's been just consistently marked about him towards to me anyways.
- 8:21[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, well, good, good to hear.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_01]: The more the better.
- 8:25[SPEAKER_01]: So thanks Chase, one of our members, of course, hanging out with us.
- 8:29[SPEAKER_01]: We got Jake coming in.
- 8:30[SPEAKER_01]: He says, good morning.
- 8:31[SPEAKER_01]: Hope you all have a wonderful day.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_01]: I got a cold from my kid.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_01]: He was dripping some Sunday and Monday, and you know, which I washed those hands.
- 8:38[SPEAKER_01]: I washed my hands, but touching toys, just handling him, constantly food, whatever his dishes.
- 8:46[SPEAKER_01]: woke up this morning, the slightly sore throat and my right nostril is cement shit.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_01]: So hopefully that's not a too much of a problem.
- 8:53[SPEAKER_01]: Hopefully this is worse as it gets, but we'll see.
- 8:55[SPEAKER_01]: But good to see you Jake.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, start off with a wonderful day.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_01]: Send those working to get bigger.
- 9:01[SPEAKER_01]: Good stuff.
- 9:01[SPEAKER_01]: Derek, we'll forks out my gym.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_01]: I need to I need to get lifting again, but mainly for my core and everything I need to what's moving to Colorado.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_01]: I am very very interested in climbing all fifty eight of the fourteeners and I'm thirty three for those keep in score at home and that means I need to protect my knees, which means
- 9:21[SPEAKER_01]: Russians, split squats, Romanian dead lifts, lunges, all that good stuff with the good balance core as well.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not, I'm built more Eric.
- 9:29[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if you've, if you remember stating next to me, I'm definitely built more for upper body because I am, I'm six six foot, six one.
- 9:35[SPEAKER_01]: But my pant length is only thirty two, which most people in my height are thirty four.
- 9:39[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm, I'm torso.
- 9:40[SPEAKER_01]: So I'll definitely built more for upper body, but it's not what I love doing.
- 9:44[SPEAKER_01]: I love being outside and on my feet and my legs.
- 9:47[SPEAKER_01]: We had chase asking off a scene, Derek will for round Sentinel, Derek will fight.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_01]: That's a, he'd be somebody to lift with for sure.
- 9:53[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe not, maybe he's a little too intense.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_01]: Roy Osborne good morning.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_01]: Hope we have better audition this weekend in preseason.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_01]: That's crazy to say, Roy, because Denver, you know, spanked.
- 10:03[SPEAKER_01]: The forty nine is what was it?
- 10:04[SPEAKER_01]: Thirty three to seven, or I don't remember what the thirty to nine.
- 10:08[SPEAKER_01]: Thirty to nine.
- 10:09[SPEAKER_01]: Same difference.
- 10:10[SPEAKER_01]: This made them, but the first team unit didn't leave anybody with the warm fuzzies.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_01]: Again, doesn't matter.
- 10:18[SPEAKER_01]: Doesn't not matter.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_01]: We talked about it a lot yesterday, Monday morning.
- 10:22[SPEAKER_01]: It matters, but I think it's more, it's more filling in the gaps in building an area than like hindsight and retrospections than it is very useful information as a prognostication going forward.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_01]: So, as I stay healthy,
- 10:37[SPEAKER_01]: That's my, that's so boring, but that's my big takeaway.
- 10:40[SPEAKER_01]: If they can stay healthy and avoid the injuries, that's a win for me and also stay out of trouble.
- 10:45[SPEAKER_01]: But what am I taking away from preseason?
- 10:47[SPEAKER_01]: The internal hierarchy of these players, what their roles are against each other versus necessarily how they look versus their own teammates or even preseason as well.
- 10:58[SPEAKER_01]: I'm looking for where the coaches are slaughting these guys.
- 11:00[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's actually the more valuable information.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_00]: It's about the evaluation of the players as you are putting together a fifty-three-man roster.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_00]: And I just said projecting their roles based off of what we see and what they do with them.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_00]: And I mean, you do want to see how it translates into game.
- 11:19[SPEAKER_00]: But there are so many variables in that game that you don't always necessarily get to see what you're specifically looking for, which is why a lot of coaches prefer those joint practices where they can control a lot of those variables.
- 11:33[SPEAKER_00]: So it does come down to staying healthy.
- 11:34[SPEAKER_00]: You want to get out of the game saying healthy.
- 11:36[SPEAKER_00]: You don't want to, you know, you don't want to go out there and look terrible, like the first unit did, but it's preseason.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_00]: And as your first game back, and we'll see what they do if they play in game two, because Sean Payton's unsure if they'll play.
- 11:47[SPEAKER_00]: Do do some scheduling and, you know, fight stuff that happened when coming back from San Francisco.
- 11:54[SPEAKER_00]: So it's all up in the air and it's not like it's regular season where looking bad actually, you know, matters.
- 12:01[SPEAKER_00]: The wind must doesn't matter in the praise season.
- 12:03[SPEAKER_00]: So it's all about the evaluation and building off of it, finding what you need to work on and working on fixing it.
- 12:10[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, absolutely.
- 12:12[SPEAKER_01]: So preseason, it does matter, but staying healthy is probably the key overall.
- 12:18[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, for the fans feeling good to be good for Denver to go out and beat up on the Cardinals just for the the momentary happiness, which is, you know, sports at the end of the day.
- 12:29[SPEAKER_01]: We got lunch lunch tray coming in here says good morning from Arkansas first-time chatter found y'all last season excited to keep up with y'all the season go broke.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_01]: I was well excited to have you out there in Arcanzas appreciate you I've always a mood Westerner at heart a mountain man out here now and I will be in Colorado, but there's the
- 12:48[SPEAKER_01]: The Buffalo River in Arkansas looks unbelievable and I do love kayaking floating.
- 12:54[SPEAKER_01]: So hopefully one day make a trip down and do maybe a multi-day thing along the Buffalo River.
- 13:00[SPEAKER_01]: I think it might be the longest, unobstructed river in the country.
- 13:05[SPEAKER_01]: So I think it's a national preserve too, but yeah, that looks pretty darn cool out there in the Ozarks.
- 13:11[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah Dave watching me here.
- 13:13[SPEAKER_01]: So don't forget the back squad, of course, of course.
- 13:15[SPEAKER_01]: I mostly do free weights at home because that's where I have time to do stuff, but no, that's definitely important.
- 13:20[SPEAKER_01]: We got Quentin coming in.
- 13:21[SPEAKER_01]: One of our members, of course, uh, good to see up Colin Gus has Benito got hurt about six snaps plate pay them in.
- 13:29[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he's been healthy so far to his career today.
- 13:33[SPEAKER_01]: I can't remember any
- 13:34[SPEAKER_01]: other injuries might have had something as rookie season maybe.
- 13:37[SPEAKER_01]: I cannot remember, but I don't I think if there was a worry there we'd hear something.
- 13:44[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe not though, as Sean Payton's keeps things pretty closely.
- 13:46[SPEAKER_01]: But I think if there was a worry with the video contract stuff, there'd be something out there.
- 13:50[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, he is dealing with the little footage that he suffered, but the contract stuff, it'll get taken care of when it gets taken care of.
- 13:57[SPEAKER_00]: It's the holdup isn't necessarily the Broncos side of things.
- 14:00[SPEAKER_00]: It is more so on Benito's side of it.
- 14:04[SPEAKER_00]: They are waiting on a couple other extensions for adressors to get taken care of.
- 14:10[SPEAKER_00]: They're trying to raise the floor to so they can help raise how much Benito can ask for.
- 14:14[SPEAKER_00]: Or is some hesitancy from the Broncos to pay as much as they are they're expecting him to ask for, but they've had little conversation up to this point, just because Benito's camp is waiting.
- 14:29[SPEAKER_01]: And Zach Stevens over at DNBR said repeatedly that he's heard from Benito's camp that he would accept a four year, twenty five million per contract so four year hundred million.
- 14:40[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not sure if that's, I'm not doubting that Zach's been told that.
- 14:43[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not sure if that's the reality of what's actually going on with the conversation between those guys.
- 14:49[SPEAKER_01]: that could just be, you know, using the source and putting something out there.
- 14:53[SPEAKER_01]: But we'll see.
- 14:54[SPEAKER_01]: It'll all become out in the wash you're pretty soon and Scott made a good point last night when you're starting to dabble in twenty eight million per year, which is that like second tier of contracts, the Brian Burns, Josh Heinz Allen of Ed rushers, that the franchise tag right now, I think is twenty seven point now.
- 15:12[SPEAKER_01]: And so it would obviously be a little higher next season, but
- 15:14[SPEAKER_01]: If the Broncos want, they do have the franchise tag in their back pocket, which is not great as far as flexibility with the salary cap.
- 15:23[SPEAKER_01]: But again, it is a card they do have that they can play if they have to.
- 15:28[SPEAKER_01]: If you're talking about twenty eight million per.
- 15:31[SPEAKER_00]: The two things on that is one, if there's been conflicting reports about what is asking for, there's some out there who've been saying, he's looking for thirty plus thirty three, pull around thirty three per year, which just goes a show.
- 15:43[SPEAKER_00]: There's a lot of conflicting information that comes out about contracts because a lot of agents, they'll play it.
- 15:50[SPEAKER_00]: people in Banyas can't could be leaking twenty five million and others could be leaking thirty three million just front you know testing waters a little bit and that's one way that agents get information from other teams about what they would be looking at the offer their players since they can't you know always directly ask
- 16:07[SPEAKER_00]: So they do that, they go, you know, skirt the rules a little bit through different ways.
- 16:12[SPEAKER_00]: And then as for the franchise tag, it is a useful tool, but there's one issue with that we're seeing more and more relevant when teams use it.
- 16:19[SPEAKER_00]: As soon as you use that franchise tag, you now have to pay
- 16:23[SPEAKER_00]: more than the two years of the combat of the franchise tag in the first two years.
- 16:28[SPEAKER_00]: That is what they've become asking for is that you're going to pay us more than the two years of franchise tag combined in that second year shoots up because it's a percentage raise based off of what you got the previous year as already.
- 16:41[SPEAKER_00]: So it's are looking at a big raise.
- 16:43[SPEAKER_00]: So it would be
- 16:46[SPEAKER_00]: problematic for the Broncos to go that route with Benito with how we're already with how the address remiss and the amount of addresses that are eligible for a contract extension after this season.
- 16:57[SPEAKER_00]: I think that there would be taking a little bit more risk if they wanted to play the franchise tag game if they wanted to wait and.
- 17:04[SPEAKER_00]: tell, you know, January, February, early March before the sudden the year to get a contract extension done that I can understand.
- 17:10[SPEAKER_00]: I just think the franchise tag has kind of been removed as an option.
- 17:13[SPEAKER_00]: And last thing on that is if Benito's camp was willing to accept twenty five million per year, a deal would be done already.
- 17:21[SPEAKER_01]: That's what I thought as well.
- 17:23[SPEAKER_01]: When I heard those numbers like, well, if that's out there, why wouldn't that just be already agreed upon.
- 17:27[SPEAKER_01]: But
- 17:29[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 17:30[SPEAKER_01]: We'll see.
- 17:31[SPEAKER_01]: Good to see David saying, please remember to click the bell.
- 17:32[SPEAKER_01]: I like thanks.
- 17:33[SPEAKER_01]: Go Broncos.
- 17:34[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, click the thumbs up.
- 17:36[SPEAKER_01]: And Quentin says he still has a hard time stopping the run.
- 17:38[SPEAKER_01]: So does Brian Burns.
- 17:39[SPEAKER_01]: So does Josh Heinz Allen as well.
- 17:41[SPEAKER_01]: Those are more your speed slender rushers and Benito has been able to close the gap a little bit more now granted.
- 17:51[SPEAKER_01]: Some of the stats when you're sample is the garbage time stuff, the unlocked stuff.
- 17:56[SPEAKER_01]: We'll find out a little bit more of the season what's normalized, what normalizes with the sample, but when you have, you know, a certain in the depth of the Broncos of the defensive line, Jonathan Cooper, who along with Troy Franklin, I feel like has been getting some of the most positive buzz of anybody in camp from what I've heard.
- 18:10[SPEAKER_01]: So yes, there's a
- 18:12[SPEAKER_01]: There's how options there, but yeah, he's he's not Miles Garrett.
- 18:15[SPEAKER_01]: He's not going to get paid like Micah Parsons.
- 18:18[SPEAKER_01]: He shouldn't get paid like Max Crosby.
- 18:20[SPEAKER_01]: So, but he's still probably in my book a twenty five million per year guide because what he does do is the most valuable thing you look for from a dead rusher and he's also to his credit he has improved.
- 18:34[SPEAKER_01]: every single year as far as the edge standing like when he came in rookie season there's a reason that he had a harder time getting on the field now you know he's not going to be perfect but yeah and okay JB thank you for correcting me here if I miss quote something and I
- 18:47[SPEAKER_01]: talked to Zach every year until the company is good guys.
- 18:49[SPEAKER_01]: So I don't mean to put wrong information out there.
- 18:52[SPEAKER_01]: Say you would offer twenty five million year that were given, not that it's been offered.
- 18:55[SPEAKER_01]: When I heard and I think it was just on the D&B R show, when I was driving back the other day, I'd have to ask Zach.
- 19:01[SPEAKER_01]: But I think it's ZAC, but either way, I would be wrong.
- 19:07[SPEAKER_01]: I think he said along the lines that if twenty five million per year was offered, but need no one as camp would accept.
- 19:14[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's almost a direct quote.
- 19:17[SPEAKER_01]: That's uh, well, we'll see.
- 19:19[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I could be, I could be wrong.
- 19:20[SPEAKER_01]: That's, that's what it might take away was granted.
- 19:22[SPEAKER_01]: I was driving delirious from a tough hike and little sleep.
- 19:24[SPEAKER_01]: So who knows, uh, but uh, don't don't trust me.
- 19:27[SPEAKER_01]: Ernie May's, Go Broncos country only.
- 19:29[SPEAKER_01]: Great to see Ernie.
- 19:31[SPEAKER_01]: Um, gosh, where was I going to this point of this?
- 19:35[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, regardless, we'll follow the Benino stuff.
- 19:38[SPEAKER_01]: I do want to get into the transition here.
- 19:41[SPEAKER_01]: joint practice.
- 19:42[SPEAKER_01]: Are we expecting to be doing it to partake at all right now personally for me?
- 19:46[SPEAKER_01]: I have come for more of the Sean McVay school of thought where it's more bubble wrap in preseason with your important players and if you have any sort of niggle at all.
- 19:56[SPEAKER_01]: Sit down, son.
- 19:57[SPEAKER_01]: If you're a key piece, uh, you're not fine for roster spot or roller or anything.
- 20:01[SPEAKER_01]: We got, we want to see what Jonah Ellis looks like.
- 20:02[SPEAKER_01]: We want to see what Hugh Robinson looks like.
- 20:04[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, can tell me who's been a little bit of a disappointment.
- 20:07[SPEAKER_01]: It seems like, uh, take a step forward.
- 20:09[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm not expecting Benito.
- 20:11[SPEAKER_01]: I wouldn't play him and joint practice or this cardinal game.
- 20:15[SPEAKER_01]: Paris Campbell would be a great not Paris Campbell.
- 20:18[SPEAKER_01]: Paris Johnson would be both Ohio State guys would be a good test for him at left tackle out there with the Cardinals really underrated tackle probably one of the best young up and coming offensive vitamin and football.
- 20:29[SPEAKER_01]: But I don't need to see it.
- 20:32[SPEAKER_01]: We know what we need to do.
- 20:32[SPEAKER_01]: He doesn't need the reps.
- 20:34[SPEAKER_01]: Stay healthy.
- 20:34[SPEAKER_01]: Let's see you week one.
- 20:36[SPEAKER_00]: If I'm beneath her I would be holding at this point I'd be holding in you got you got that foot you had that foot injury.
- 20:41[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not risking you know making it worse.
- 20:44[SPEAKER_00]: Through practice I'm not risking another injury.
- 20:46[SPEAKER_01]: You're one of the series.
- 20:48[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I would if I'm beneath or I'm sitting out if I'm Sean Peyton I'm not even giving me that.
- 20:56[SPEAKER_00]: choice up to him.
- 20:56[SPEAKER_00]: It's you're sitting out.
- 20:58[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, you still practice, but I wouldn't be, you know, too much of the joint practices.
- 21:03[SPEAKER_00]: I'll let you rest for that day.
- 21:05[SPEAKER_00]: Wouldn't give you the game.
- 21:08[SPEAKER_00]: Most starters, I wouldn't, you know, see play in the game.
- 21:10[SPEAKER_00]: Some of them I still would just because of all that showing of the first in the first one.
- 21:14[SPEAKER_00]: Come on, see if you can get a little bit better out of them.
- 21:15[SPEAKER_00]: But again, but he to played six naps, right?
- 21:19[SPEAKER_00]: And did what he did absolutely disrupted, you know, one series completely.
- 21:24[SPEAKER_00]: I'd be done with it and one thing that you said with Josh Allen, Hines and Brian Burns, one thing that they do, they're not great run defenders, don't get me wrong.
- 21:35[SPEAKER_00]: but they do a much better job of using their speed to impact the run game than Benito does, which is one area where he still needs to work and do.
- 21:44[SPEAKER_00]: And if you can get on that level of them, they can be fine with him out there as a run defender.
- 21:49[SPEAKER_00]: And he's just not quite there yet.
- 21:52[SPEAKER_00]: Last year he had flashes of being there.
- 21:54[SPEAKER_00]: Still has a little bit of work to go.
- 21:56[SPEAKER_00]: And the biggest thing is converting speed to power.
- 21:58[SPEAKER_00]: That's the one big thing that he's really got to get down.
- 22:02[SPEAKER_00]: And it can help him in both as a run defender and as a bad thrashers.
- 22:06[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 22:07[SPEAKER_01]: Yep, and just having that counter inside move.
- 22:09[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, just the, I always come back to the picture, but right now he's a really good ninety nine mile an hour.
- 22:16[SPEAKER_01]: Do you have a slider?
- 22:17[SPEAKER_01]: Can you work a slider in there?
- 22:19[SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't even have necessarily be like a total off speed pitch.
- 22:22[SPEAKER_01]: Like a change up.
- 22:23[SPEAKER_01]: Like can we have another power pitch to go off of it?
- 22:25[SPEAKER_01]: Can we start hitting that inside shoulder versus just speed off the edge or scheme up stuff where you get an alley and you go.
- 22:33[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I will see, but I'm using the name good player.
- 22:37[SPEAKER_01]: And very happy to have him.
- 22:39[SPEAKER_01]: Hopefully it gets figured out here pretty soon.
- 22:42[SPEAKER_01]: But as far as joint practice goes, what am I looking for right now?
- 22:45[SPEAKER_01]: Again, I'm talking about both sides of my mouth.
- 22:48[SPEAKER_01]: I want it just so the fans can be throw them a bone and be a little bit calmer.
- 22:53[SPEAKER_01]: I hope Bonex goes out there in preseason game and joint practice and looks good.
- 22:59[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously, the cardinals
- 23:01[SPEAKER_01]: Defentant has a bunch of names on it now.
- 23:03[SPEAKER_01]: They've signed a couple of veterans.
- 23:04[SPEAKER_01]: They've drafted on that position pretty heavily.
- 23:06[SPEAKER_01]: Walter Nolan's, I think, injured.
- 23:09[SPEAKER_01]: Right now, so I don't expect him, but they drafted Darius Robinson last season.
- 23:12[SPEAKER_01]: They paid Josh Sweat.
- 23:13[SPEAKER_01]: They had Dolphin Tominson.
- 23:14[SPEAKER_01]: They have Clayus Campbell.
- 23:16[SPEAKER_01]: Zaman Collins is a depth player for them.
- 23:19[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm really hoping that offensive line, obviously, where I'm always looking trenches first, but I'm really hoping that Bonax goes out there and doesn't have to look like, you know, freaking Patrick Mahomes or prime paintman or anything, but like consistently winning, getting the ball, moving the ball, going, ten for twelve in team period, two scoring, two touchdown drives in two quarters of action in the preseason game, all that good stuff, and then we can just be like, okay.
- 23:46[SPEAKER_01]: We're okay.
- 23:47[SPEAKER_01]: We don't need to worry too much.
- 23:49[SPEAKER_01]: How about what's going on?
- 23:51[SPEAKER_00]: It's not for me, it's not necessarily what they do.
- 23:54[SPEAKER_00]: It's how they look doing it.
- 23:56[SPEAKER_00]: It does go next a little bit calmer, less antsy in the pocket.
- 23:58[SPEAKER_00]: That was one big issue I had.
- 24:01[SPEAKER_00]: How does he handle, you know, pressure, if it comes, we kind of talked a little bit about that on Monday.
- 24:06[SPEAKER_00]: How we just didn't seem at ease with what the foreigners were throwing at them.
- 24:12[SPEAKER_00]: How does the offensive mind handle it, how does the offensive mind look with the run blocking are they able to open up a little bit more holes.
- 24:18[SPEAKER_00]: And obviously how they look doing it will translate into what they do.
- 24:22[SPEAKER_00]: Because if you know the offensive mind is doing well as run blocking and you don't have your free interior offensive linemen struggling in the game, you should be running the ball better, which should be moved the ball.
- 24:31[SPEAKER_00]: And put points on the board and score touchdowns.
- 24:34[SPEAKER_00]: And if our next doesn't look as antsy in the pocket should help and his placement was better than what it was and you should be moving the ball and putting points on the board.
- 24:43[SPEAKER_00]: So it's
- 24:44[SPEAKER_00]: And it's not what they do.
- 24:45[SPEAKER_00]: It's how they do it.
- 24:46[SPEAKER_00]: It's how they look doing it.
- 24:48[SPEAKER_00]: And as you said, with Bonix, you just, you want to see those things with them because some of that is our issues that we had with last year.
- 24:55[SPEAKER_00]: We didn't, he wasn't great with handling pressure last year.
- 24:58[SPEAKER_00]: He wasn't great working a true drawback passing game.
- 25:02[SPEAKER_00]: uh... he wasn't great working the intermediate and while he did have about one catch a toy franklin i would say that it was more toy franklin then it was bonyx with true if i can go on a getting a catch up wasn't well placed so it's all about settling down and seeing those improvements that we wanted to see last year because in that first reason we didn't see it
- 25:22[SPEAKER_00]: not, you know, not trying to make it a major deal, but when you what you are looking for, preseason, again, is individually evaluation and seeing growth from young players like Bo Nix from the rookie year to their second year.
- 25:38[SPEAKER_01]: So we'll see how it plays out.
- 25:40[SPEAKER_01]: Of course, we do have a super chat coming in here.
- 25:43[SPEAKER_01]: I think God, I thought you guys were hating us here for a little bit.
- 25:46[SPEAKER_01]: So I think, came in and came in.
- 25:49[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously, because of YouTube changing all the the names and everything, you have to let us know what your name was before this.
- 25:55[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously came in.
- 25:56[SPEAKER_01]: It's not it's not ringing a bell, but you came in.
- 25:58[SPEAKER_01]: Last night, our Monday morning as well, so we definitely need to show you some love.
- 26:02[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if this is the showing the body here, a level of money, but if you are joining us at the beginning of the show.
- 26:09[SPEAKER_01]: What's up, bro?
- 26:09[SPEAKER_01]: It goes country.
- 26:10[SPEAKER_01]: If sure field continues to play while they're in preseason, it can't.
- 26:12[SPEAKER_01]: Could you have a bigger role during the season and maybe be a part of the wide receiver rotation?
- 26:17[SPEAKER_01]: One thousand percent in the reason this is part of the conversation for me is that he is a physical son of a gun.
- 26:24[SPEAKER_01]: He is going to be active because of his special teams value.
- 26:28[SPEAKER_01]: And we're exactly his role lines up remains to be seen, but we have a little Jordan Humphrey kind of missing sample right now.
- 26:36[SPEAKER_01]: Now, you hope that Pat Bryant can play some of that big slot stuff, but I think with how much outside of court and sudden I'm expecting just
- 26:43[SPEAKER_01]: waves of wide receiver.
- 26:44[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if there is a wide receiver too, because they're all wide receiver too.
- 26:49[SPEAKER_01]: After I've been caliber, but like, role, I'm expecting very even snap distribution between Mims, Franklin, Bryant.
- 26:57[SPEAKER_01]: Valy is the one right now.
- 26:57[SPEAKER_01]: It feels a little bit weird with what they've done.
- 27:01[SPEAKER_01]: And with other guys stepping up and everything.
- 27:04[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, I think sure field can have a role.
- 27:06[SPEAKER_01]: And I've definitely admitted on here a few times that I've completely overlooked him.
- 27:10[SPEAKER_01]: But he's been
- 27:11[SPEAKER_01]: physical good player for the Broncos right now.
- 27:15[SPEAKER_01]: And just because the reality that he's going to be active because the special teams, he's going to have a shot.
- 27:19[SPEAKER_01]: So we've seen it in camp to Eric outside of Carlton Sutton who's just been the continuous number one.
- 27:25[SPEAKER_01]: Who's the wide receivers on the first team of the second team?
- 27:28[SPEAKER_01]: The answer is yes, because they're just rotate everybody a lot.
- 27:31[SPEAKER_01]: It's a Sean Peyton special.
- 27:33[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that's even amplified by the
- 27:35[SPEAKER_01]: You know, lack of a true blue known quantity at white receiver two and three.
- 27:40[SPEAKER_01]: You have options.
- 27:41[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to be rotated.
- 27:43[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I was sure field.
- 27:44[SPEAKER_00]: He was always going to have a role on offense because of his physicality as a blocker.
- 27:48[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, the moment they signed him, that was one of the big things that highlighted what he brings is a blocker at what receiver special teams as well.
- 27:54[SPEAKER_00]: That's what was going to always make him active.
- 27:55[SPEAKER_00]: That's what was guaranteeing a moross just but
- 27:58[SPEAKER_00]: But now I think you have the question of how much has his role changed, how much has it grown with what he's shown as a receiver because he's showing a lot more than what he has ever before.
- 28:10[SPEAKER_00]: Talk a lot of the guys within the organization when they were going through and watching his games before signing him.
- 28:15[SPEAKER_00]: They didn't see a whole lot there as a wide receiver outside of the blocking and he's showing a lot more to expand that role and as to your point is that's something that I've kind of been saying for a while about wide receiver to you is it's going to be wide receiver to buy committee basically and that's kind of been what Sean looking back on it about a month ago kind of what Sean Peyton has done.
- 28:36[SPEAKER_00]: When he hasn't had that clear cut number two guy who's been great, it's been whiter see for two by committee rotating guys and it's always been matchup based and situation based.
- 28:46[SPEAKER_00]: So it's going to change week and week out.
- 28:49[SPEAKER_00]: Pat Bryant will be at some point and it's tough.
- 28:53[SPEAKER_00]: I remember the humor of his on a Friday night or one of the morning shows we had somebody come in and talk about how Pat Bryant might not be active.
- 29:00[SPEAKER_00]: I think that we're going to see six wedry series active, which is little tough, but with what Sean Peyton does out by receiver with all the roles that these guys fill, which are all their own niche roles.
- 29:12[SPEAKER_00]: I think that we'll see six wedry series active and then maybe some videos in active elsewhere and hopefully see another guy emerge on special teams as well.
- 29:24[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe Bailey, maybe Bryant, maybe Franklin, maybe they look at using him as a returner, even though that seems to be Julia McLaughlin.
- 29:31[SPEAKER_00]: They've been given him a lot of hype for being that returner ops at Mims, but anyways, what I see over, I think we're going to end up seeing six active because of the niches they bring, what sure fields doing on special teams and just hoping somebody else steps up on special teams to go along with her field.
- 29:47[SPEAKER_01]: makes a lot of sense came and thank you so much for the super chat.
- 29:49[SPEAKER_01]: We really really do appreciate that.
- 29:51[SPEAKER_01]: Clayton here on hey guys smash that like button.
- 29:54[SPEAKER_01]: Appreciate you guys.
- 29:56[SPEAKER_01]: Supporting the show and everything hope you guys have a good one.
- 29:58[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to wrap up here pretty soon.
- 30:00[SPEAKER_01]: More joint practice stuff here for me, Eric.
- 30:02[SPEAKER_01]: I know that he wasn't
- 30:05[SPEAKER_01]: The superstar immediate player last season, but Marvin Harrison Jr.
- 30:08[SPEAKER_01]: is still a heck of a prospect.
- 30:10[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm excited to see what he does and looks like versus the Broncos cornerbacks.
- 30:14[SPEAKER_01]: I hope you get some certain versus Marvin Harrison Jr.
- 30:16[SPEAKER_01]: But I'm just as intrigued by what Baron looks like versus him, what Riley Moss looks like versus him.
- 30:22[SPEAKER_01]: Apparently, Marvin Harrison Jr.
- 30:24[SPEAKER_01]: is bulked up this season as well as playing a little bit more like an X.
- 30:28[SPEAKER_01]: with some physicality at the top of the routes, which we did not see as much last season kind of a disappointment from him.
- 30:33[SPEAKER_01]: He played a lot more like a Z for the cardinals, but a little more physical.
- 30:38[SPEAKER_01]: He's still, like, twenty years old last year, twenty one.
- 30:40[SPEAKER_01]: It's okay.
- 30:41[SPEAKER_01]: Kind of hard to in neighbors and Brian Thomas Jr.
- 30:43[SPEAKER_01]: look as good as they did when Harrison was, you know, so hyped up.
- 30:48[SPEAKER_01]: But I'm really excited to see what Martin Harrison Jr.
- 30:50[SPEAKER_01]: does and how our cornerbacks look like versus him.
- 30:54[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, I'm very curious about that as well.
- 30:56[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it would be a good, it's a good test for all of them.
- 30:59[SPEAKER_00]: Will Marvin Harrison, Jr.
- 31:01[SPEAKER_00]: was a, was a disappointment last year?
- 31:02[SPEAKER_00]: It wasn't like he was bad.
- 31:04[SPEAKER_00]: He had a pretty good rookie season.
- 31:06[SPEAKER_00]: It just wasn't quite expectation level.
- 31:09[SPEAKER_00]: And again, as you said, when you had movie neighbors and Brian Thomas go off and do what they do and block hours to a certain extent.
- 31:17[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'm Brock Bowers is too interested as well.
- 31:19[SPEAKER_00]: When you go out and have them do what they do, and you know, your Marvin Harris Jr., you have the name recognition, you have the, you know, the top status of it, the top dog status that you have with being the first one drafted or the bunch, and you underperform them.
- 31:32[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, that's going to be a little bit of a disappointment, but that's a good test for it.
- 31:35[SPEAKER_00]: The one that I'm most curious about is seeing the defensive one, we had somebody come in and I mentioned Savion Jones.
- 31:41[SPEAKER_00]: You had a good game against the, the forty Niners, but it came as a pass washer.
- 31:46[SPEAKER_00]: I really want to see him step up more as a run defender, but I really want to see somebody else on this defensive line step up in general.
- 31:53[SPEAKER_00]: Jordan Jackson had a decent game.
- 31:54[SPEAKER_00]: He had one good play against the what was the second unit of the forty Niners.
- 32:02[SPEAKER_00]: But that was it.
- 32:03[SPEAKER_00]: And then he's just absolutely dominated the third the third and fourth unit.
- 32:07[SPEAKER_00]: And you want to, when you're looking for a guide to be that fifth, sixth defensive lineman, you want to see a little bit more against the ones in two.
- 32:14[SPEAKER_00]: It was a Rika look fell flat out there.
- 32:16[SPEAKER_00]: And it was just a really bad showing from the defensive line in general, once John Fnick and Myers and Zach Allen were taken out of the game and DJ Roch and DJ Jones and Malcolm Roch as well.
- 32:28[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I was disappointed and it was Ricky, but I'm not disappointed as Michael Rankillo coming in here, joining the YouTube member here.
- 32:34[SPEAKER_01]: Clayton, we appreciate you over on Facebook, but I think we are definitely making a push to be, and Lee Roy, appreciate you coming in.
- 32:41[SPEAKER_01]: And he asked us when we should have gotten this one, but I think we're definitely making a push to be more YouTube centric and get everybody to be members as much as possible.
- 32:49[SPEAKER_01]: But as far as Bonix struggling at practice, I think it's been worse so that he hasn't put together two awesome practices.
- 32:55[SPEAKER_01]: He just kind of set a few like low light ones.
- 32:58[SPEAKER_01]: I did appreciate Carl brought it up yesterday at that, like an interview to him after the practice stay.
- 33:03[SPEAKER_01]: So good job out there in Bonix is like, no, I sucked.
- 33:05[SPEAKER_01]: Not good enough.
- 33:05[SPEAKER_01]: Not enough energy blah blah blah.
- 33:07[SPEAKER_01]: So some, you know, realism there and the expectations are high.
- 33:12[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm glad that he has that on himself and doesn't just, you know, blow it off when he doesn't have the best practice at the end of the day.
- 33:18[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, I am not too worried about sophomore.
- 33:21[SPEAKER_01]: That's certainly.
- 33:22[SPEAKER_01]: I think what's more, it could be more concerning and more likely is that what we saw last season is bonus.
- 33:31[SPEAKER_01]: Like everybody, I think there's way too much expectation that, you know, he's going to keep taking steps forward.
- 33:36[SPEAKER_01]: You know, secondly, he will be that much better.
- 33:39[SPEAKER_01]: It's possible that from week eight on that was his rookie, you know, kind of figured out and then week nine plus is his baseline going forward.
- 33:48[SPEAKER_01]: That is that's simply just possible.
- 33:50[SPEAKER_01]: You see that sometimes for some guy, especially, you know, older quarterback coming in.
- 33:55[SPEAKER_01]: It like you saw.
- 33:56[SPEAKER_01]: Well, it's in my homes when he would have been twenty four twenty five whatever he had that MVP season and then it's not like he's kept getting every single better every single season uh from there so again growth is not guaranteed it's not linear uh possible we saw last season at the end is his just average going forward which is good enough on a rookie contract uh in my opinion as a Super Bowl caliber
- 34:22[SPEAKER_01]: We'll see.
- 34:23[SPEAKER_01]: But if we look back ten years from now and we're saying, oh, yep, that was the level when we saw it there.
- 34:28[SPEAKER_01]: It's possible.
- 34:29[SPEAKER_01]: I'm hoping for more.
- 34:30[SPEAKER_01]: And I believe in Sean Payton.
- 34:31[SPEAKER_01]: He'll tell you that's not what's going to happen with Bonix.
- 34:33[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm more likely to believe Sean Payton.
- 34:35[SPEAKER_01]: But I can see that happening too.
- 34:36[SPEAKER_01]: So it's not necessarily a sophomore blues or struggle or regression or anything.
- 34:40[SPEAKER_01]: It's just like plateaued, which is a possible outcome.
- 34:45[SPEAKER_00]: And I was having a conversation with somebody who about this and they asked me this question of, what do you think would be worse?
- 34:53[SPEAKER_00]: A, basically, a sophomore slump, not the word that they used from Bonnex or Himpile towing and be what he was for the final, you know, eight, ten weeks of last season and that just being all it is, what do you think is worse?
- 35:06[SPEAKER_00]: And as we're going back in this conversation, the guy I was talking with brought up the fact that when you see somebody plateau at a level like Bonix was, you're in a really dangerous spot of spending big money on a quarterback position who may not do enough for it.
- 35:28[SPEAKER_00]: may not be worth that much in terms of what he's bringing to the offense and bringing to the team in general.
- 35:35[SPEAKER_00]: So it's very, it's, it is concerning.
- 35:38[SPEAKER_00]: The guy I was talking with in myself, we do expect to see Bonix or take us that forward.
- 35:43[SPEAKER_00]: He has former questions about how much of a step forward he can take, but
- 35:48[SPEAKER_00]: There's still room for improvement and that's that's one thing is when you always see these rooms room for them and you have a quarterback like Bo next who as you said is going to be praised after a practice in the community say no I was awful and a coach like Sean Peyton and a coach like
- 36:06[SPEAKER_00]: Davis Webb there who's working with him directly is you tend to put your faith in him being improved from last year instead of being stagnant or even taking a step back because in terms of the sophomore slump the production may take a may take a slump but he may actually look better in those areas because of other factors that do affect the production so it is a
- 36:29[SPEAKER_00]: definitely a concern to just keep an eye on.
- 36:33[SPEAKER_00]: It's not based off of just the, you know, not based off of just the two preseason drives.
- 36:37[SPEAKER_00]: It's just based off the whole body as a whole and what bonex can do this year compared to last year and just a little bit of talking hypotheticals.
- 36:48[SPEAKER_01]: Again, I think maybe I
- 36:51[SPEAKER_01]: misspoke it's not my expectation that he won't progress, but it's certainly a possible outcome.
- 36:56[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, in Zach Phillips, I don't know.
- 37:00[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not making too much of the two drives.
- 37:02[SPEAKER_01]: That's not at all what we're saying here.
- 37:04[SPEAKER_01]: And I don't know if you're talking at us about the two drives, but we could have Russell Wilson or not.
- 37:10[SPEAKER_01]: I don't want Russell Wilson either.
- 37:11[SPEAKER_01]: I want a top five quarterback, but I believe in Sean Payton, and I'm happy to have a rookie costume troll quarterback for the team we have right now.
- 37:19[SPEAKER_01]: We don't have to answer as he, you know, worth fifty million a year.
- 37:23[SPEAKER_01]: We're always off from that.
- 37:24[SPEAKER_01]: Let's we got at least two years of games.
- 37:27[SPEAKER_01]: So
- 37:29[SPEAKER_01]: We'll see how it plays out and we're hoping for the best and we'll analyze it as it comes, but not to be too cliche, but we're trying to stay grounded and not too high and not too low.
- 37:40[SPEAKER_01]: The two drives, some people are absolutely losing their minds over it and bad practice yesterday.
- 37:46[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, no.
- 37:47[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 37:48[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 37:49[SPEAKER_01]: Is he still healthy?
- 37:51[SPEAKER_01]: Cool.
- 37:51[SPEAKER_01]: That's good.
- 37:53[SPEAKER_01]: We'll find out.
- 37:54[SPEAKER_01]: We'll find out over time.
- 37:55[SPEAKER_01]: Other, we got to wrap up here.
- 37:57[SPEAKER_01]: Other joint practice excitement.
- 37:58[SPEAKER_01]: I'm excited about the young defensive line guys.
- 38:02[SPEAKER_01]: Long-term.
- 38:03[SPEAKER_01]: Savion Jones made some plays.
- 38:05[SPEAKER_01]: Excited to see what he can do.
- 38:06[SPEAKER_01]: Q Robinson has been stabbed a bit more and more and Jonah Ellis.
- 38:10[SPEAKER_01]: Also, you're two for him.
- 38:11[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like he's a little bit over for gotten man to some extent.
- 38:14[SPEAKER_01]: But man, he could be one of the better.
- 38:18[SPEAKER_01]: Second string past wrestlers in football.
- 38:21[SPEAKER_01]: This season up so excited to see them.
- 38:23[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's the talk about the quarterbacks, ready also the young past wrestlers and guys stepping up and rules just keeping that healthy roster turn going.
- 38:32[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and Ed pressure the room that they can be so deep in and they're just looking for, you know, couple guys to step up, John Ellis being one of them.
- 38:39[SPEAKER_00]: had a great game that hasn't been, you know, participating a whole lot in camp or off-season activities as he's working back to us.
- 38:46[SPEAKER_00]: Shoulder surgery that he had.
- 38:49[SPEAKER_00]: So the fact that he came out on with limited working time and practice time and did as good as he did.
- 38:55[SPEAKER_00]: That's a positive sign for him.
- 38:56[SPEAKER_00]: Dr. Tomen obviously wanted to see more.
- 39:00[SPEAKER_00]: That was a bad game.
- 39:00[SPEAKER_00]: Hopefully you can see him bounce back or Nelson the new guy that they brought in.
- 39:04[SPEAKER_00]: He absolutely absolutely
- 39:06[SPEAKER_00]: killed it on special teams, which a if you're going to make a roster as a depth player, special teams is where you do it.
- 39:12[SPEAKER_00]: And then as you farmer, I don't recall ever even noticing him on defense or special teams.
- 39:18[SPEAKER_00]: And then the last position that I'm really curious about, and it deals with a lot with what Sean bit and said about it.
- 39:23[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going back to after the game, and that's a running back trying to get JK Dobbins more carries.
- 39:29[SPEAKER_00]: Him, I do like a little bit of validation in Sean.
- 39:31[SPEAKER_00]: Patents comment when he was asked about RJ Harvey and bouncing things outside.
- 39:35[SPEAKER_00]: He's like, there's one run where he could have been a little bit more patient inside.
- 39:39[SPEAKER_00]: One.
- 39:41[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I can agree with that after going back over and watching a seven runs, but of how they're mixing up the running, the running bags and the usage trying to find that best way to utilize all these guys and who are the four running bags that they keep.
- 39:55[SPEAKER_00]: Again, I think that it's a pretty clear three, but that fourth one is still up for grabs, you know, I think there's a guy who separated himself in Tyler biday for that fourth spot, but prop one's Dobbantarby and McLaughlin.
- 40:08[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, McLaughlin.
- 40:10[SPEAKER_01]: I wish you could quit him.
- 40:11[SPEAKER_01]: I know.
- 40:12[SPEAKER_01]: It isn't me.
- 40:13[SPEAKER_01]: It isn't me.
- 40:14[SPEAKER_01]: I know.
- 40:14[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just teasing you.
- 40:15[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just giving you our hard time.
- 40:16[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 40:17[SPEAKER_01]: Finally, for me, it's the interior and just the depth of the offensive line.
- 40:20[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 40:21[SPEAKER_01]: Talk about why the Sabers are there, obviously.
- 40:22[SPEAKER_01]: But I can Nick Gargulio continue his outstanding play last year because right now, Broncos are we talked about on the defensive line a little bit.
- 40:31[SPEAKER_01]: I'm always very forward team building focus centric and you have two offensive line spots.
- 40:38[SPEAKER_01]: popping up here in the next off season one at least possibly to we had hope about you know Clay Webb given his high recruiting profile and some of the highlights he didn't have a good game but again he could just be a red shirt season was we'll go again next season after that you got four sites of course what's going to happen with trust.
- 40:56[SPEAKER_01]: Pat Chetsky maybe left guard option but Garjula was the
- 41:00[SPEAKER_01]: the one who seemed to step up recently.
- 41:03[SPEAKER_01]: Bronco's draft pick, late draft pick last season, and it could be left guard.
- 41:07[SPEAKER_01]: I think he did play center in college as well, so maybe there's some center.
- 41:11[SPEAKER_01]: Hope right now it seems he's more guard-centric, but I wouldn't mind some center reps as well, because if you
- 41:17[SPEAKER_01]: depth, especially, but the more avenues you have to get on the field, the more valuable you have.
- 41:21[SPEAKER_01]: But I'm looking for the, again, the youth on the interior offensive line, specifically, Garjula, Garjulio, and he can keep on what we saw last week.
- 41:31[SPEAKER_01]: And it's more so like long-term health, could he become maybe that first guy of the bench, could he push foresight off the roster?
- 41:37[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, stuff like that, I'm curious to watch it.
- 41:40[SPEAKER_01]: So we've got our antenna up.
- 41:42[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and just to be clear with McLaughlin, I'm just going off of what I've heard about.
- 41:47[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not my own personal opinion skis for me.
- 41:50[SPEAKER_00]: I think he should be running back five for this roster, but hey, that's just my opinion.
- 41:55[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not the decision maker.
- 41:56[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm going to stick with those who are as for the offensive line.
- 42:00[SPEAKER_00]: I one thing I'm really curious about it is if they start mixing up where they're playing a little bit more.
- 42:05[SPEAKER_00]: So against the forty-nineers only one player played more than one spot and that was Garjulo and only reason why he played mostly at right guard only reason why he played a few snaps at left guard was because Calvin Throck Morton got hurt and left a game a little bit early.
- 42:22[SPEAKER_00]: and they hadn't quite switched over to the next unit yet.
- 42:25[SPEAKER_00]: So he finished out with the second unit and then when they went to the third unit, they had a
- 42:32[SPEAKER_00]: he had to play a little bit until they brought in the extra guys after that.
- 42:36[SPEAKER_00]: So, I'm really curious about that, but one thing with Garjulo, I was, same guy I was having the conversation with Bapo next.
- 42:42[SPEAKER_00]: We were talking about a bunch of different things.
- 42:44[SPEAKER_00]: Got to the offensive line and he made the comment that if some, if Ben Powers or Quinn Miners goes down, they have a lot of confidence in Garjulo starting multiple games for them.
- 42:55[SPEAKER_00]: So, that is eye popping, not necessarily the dimension of Quinn Miners, but
- 42:59[SPEAKER_00]: Ben Powers, the one that we've mentioned is a, but very likely cap casual T. I think at this point after this season, if they have confidence in Gargelo, if he continues rising up, then he, there's a good chance he is that guy we're looking at to be the starting left card next year.
- 43:15[SPEAKER_01]: that's interesting because entering this off season we probably would have guessed pelchetsky uh... but uh... maybe gargulo has uh... moved up to that spot now again i can't get some center reps just to get a little bit more options in coverage uh... we got key on in here you'll go to see says what's up we're just about to get out of here kaly on so hopefully go back and watch the rest of the show and we got michael closing this out saying great show today in the can you come out of a pod casco bob romco's go michael appreciate you coming in also doing that on the youtube side of things as well uh...
- 43:43[SPEAKER_01]: joint practice number one take away everybody stay with me no injuries that's the big one after that everything is going to be you know a okay we'll overreact because it's the information we have to go off of uh just a quote not the royal we on that one the collective but yeah stay healthy and uh one positive for the Broncos I also still do the shows with Scott but covering the Falcons Falcons are in joint practice right now with the Tennessee Titans
- 44:07[SPEAKER_01]: They look freaking horrible, Eric.
- 44:10[SPEAKER_01]: The Titans look disastrous, I guess.
- 44:13[SPEAKER_01]: Like even the people or beat writers there, they're like, oh, no.
- 44:16[SPEAKER_01]: Like, you know, the people of the Titans, they're like, guys, you need to sit down for this one.
- 44:23[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not, I can't word drift in twelve yards back in the pocket.
- 44:26[SPEAKER_01]: The offense of why it's so messy.
- 44:28[SPEAKER_01]: Somebody in the Falcons chat came in a day.
- 44:29[SPEAKER_01]: They were number two in total defense.
- 44:32[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, they were like thirty first in points.
- 44:35[SPEAKER_01]: So yards don't score points.
- 44:38[SPEAKER_01]: It's not as terrible indicator for a team yards per play.
- 44:42[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe, but yards themselves and not so much.
- 44:45[SPEAKER_00]: So on the know, have you seen the overhyping award from his first throw, the one to Calvin really were really was
- 44:51[SPEAKER_00]: I saw, I saw a couple, you know, Titans van sitting there going off.
- 44:55[SPEAKER_00]: He threaded the needle.
- 44:57[SPEAKER_00]: Dude was wide open.
- 44:58[SPEAKER_00]: He didn't have to drop it over and under, you know, overline back because under is a dude was wide open and there's something to go on off on this.
- 45:05[SPEAKER_00]: But every time I hear something about the Titans, the more confident I am at the Broncos should easily handle business in the season opener.
- 45:16[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not too worried.
- 45:17[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just put it that way.
- 45:18[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, guys, we're going to get on out of here.

- 46:26[SPEAKER_01]: Kind of compassion as always.
- 46:28[SPEAKER_01]: Go Rockers.
