- 0:00[SPEAKER_00]: Jacksonville Jaguars fans, welcome in to Duval, daily presented by Genjag.com and fueled by brass tax coffee.
- 0:06[SPEAKER_00]: It's Tuesday, October 6th.
- 0:08[SPEAKER_00]: I'm your host Jordan Lugo, and right now, we're talking AFC power rankings.
- 0:12[SPEAKER_00]: Still on our cruise here, we're about to be in a Halifax, Nova Scotia, I believe, up here in Canada, pretty wild stuff, but Tuesday, wanted to get out AFC power rankings for this week.
- 0:26[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguars, they have been dealing with
- 0:29[SPEAKER_00]: a couple different injuries.
- 0:31[SPEAKER_00]: And so at the corner back position, they added Elijah Huzzi, who was on the Texans practice squad, was undrafted last year after doing with a injury during the pre-draft lead-up and player that got in for the Texans a little bit last year and did some decent things was on the practice squad this year.
- 0:51[SPEAKER_00]: If there is a group,
- 0:54[SPEAKER_00]: potentially want to approach from, I would say, the Texan secondary, probably not a bad place to look just when you look at the level of talent that they have on the back end.
- 1:04[SPEAKER_00]: So that is one note there.
- 1:06[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguars are obviously traveling to London.
- 1:10[SPEAKER_00]: Later this week to host the Eagles and then host the Texans.
- 1:17[SPEAKER_00]: We will obviously get into the Eagles matchup.
- 1:21[SPEAKER_00]: in the coming days, but right now, again, it's FC Power Rings.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_00]: We've been doing this every week, just kind of keeping it updated, having some fun with it.
- 1:28[SPEAKER_00]: So, really appreciate y'all tuning in.
- 1:30[SPEAKER_00]: If you enjoy the content, please like and subscribe, you can also hit that high button.
- 1:34[SPEAKER_00]: Kind of down from 16 to 1.
- 1:37[SPEAKER_00]: I've got the Titans and Dolphins at 16 to 15.
- 1:44[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I think that they are clearly,
- 1:47[SPEAKER_00]: the two worst teams here in the AFC.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_00]: They're having a lot of struggles.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_00]: I've got the tights behind the dolphins just because.
- 1:55[SPEAKER_00]: It feels like maybe the Dolphins at least have some hope for the future, whereas the Titans is this new regime of retreads brought in to try to write the ship and get camward on track.
- 2:07[SPEAKER_00]: None of that's happening right now, and it's still very early in the season a lot can change.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_00]: But it feels like that situation is a little bit dead in the water for the Tennessee Titans.
- 2:16[SPEAKER_00]: The Dolphins, at least you have, it feels like a more fresh restart.
- 2:27[SPEAKER_00]: are basically rebuilding.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_00]: So, at least the vibes are higher, I would say, with the dolphins.
- 2:34[SPEAKER_00]: And then, at 13, I have the chargers, I mean, they can't win a football game.
- 2:40[SPEAKER_00]: They've been competitive a couple times, they've got a lot of talent, they've got a lot of injuries as well, they've got a lot of other negative situations going on, but until the charges can get out of their own way, I don't know how I put them much higher than where I have them on this list currently.
- 2:57[SPEAKER_00]: And then I have the Jets at 13, so Titans Dolphins, Chargers, Jets, the Jets, not a great
- 3:09[SPEAKER_00]: They're doing some good, like they have some legitimate talent at some skill position spots.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, not the best quarterback situation in the world right now, but you've seen Gino do some decent things this year.
- 3:20[SPEAKER_00]: I just think that they're like a little bit above the teams we just mentioned, honestly.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_00]: And then, these two teams have kind of been grouped together since...
- 3:34[SPEAKER_00]: early in the offseason for me.
- 3:35[SPEAKER_00]: It's the Steelers at 12 and the Colts at 11.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_00]: I just view these teams as like very competitive.
- 3:42[SPEAKER_00]: They're gonna win some games that you probably don't favor them to win.
- 3:45[SPEAKER_00]: They're gonna lose some games that you probably don't think they should lose.
- 3:48[SPEAKER_00]: They're going to be in the middle of the pack.
- 3:50[SPEAKER_00]: They're going to, they're going to, you know, and they're both two and two.
- 3:54[SPEAKER_00]: Steelers and Colts, they're just gonna be there, but probably not have much of a chance to really do anything if they do punch a ticket to the playoffs.
- 4:03[SPEAKER_00]: And I know this one might be controversial having the Texans this high at 10.
- 4:10[SPEAKER_00]: After everybody was picking them to go to the Super Bowl and now they're Owen for shocking start to the season.
- 4:17[SPEAKER_00]: They started Owen three last year, stole my the playoffs.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_00]: It's going to be very difficult to do that this year for the Texans, but I still think,
- 4:28[SPEAKER_00]: Teams would rather face all the teams we just mentioned, than face the Texans.
- 4:31[SPEAKER_00]: I still pretty firmly believe that.
- 4:34[SPEAKER_00]: I think that the Texans are in a tough, tough spot.
- 4:37[SPEAKER_00]: They've played a little bit without Nico.
- 4:40[SPEAKER_00]: They've had some other injuries happen, but it's not looking good in Houston right now.
- 4:46[SPEAKER_00]: And they are certainly, it's looking like, primed to potentially,
- 4:52[SPEAKER_00]: Fall down this list even further than they already have.
- 4:55[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, this was a team that was like in my top five to start the season in the F.C.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_00]: And now again, have fallen all the way to 10 and it feels like they're in free fall a little bit for the Houston Texans.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_00]: It's a, I mean, look,
- 5:14[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't expect their offense to be very good, and it hasn't been very good.
- 5:18[SPEAKER_00]: They've put up some points against the bills and the cowboys, two defenses that aren't super impressive, but their offense was just not super productive against the cults and then against the bingles as well.
- 5:30[SPEAKER_00]: So that could you go in four or you've played a tough schedule.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_00]: which is part of why I have them a little bit higher than maybe some of the other teams here.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, they play the Titans this upcoming week.
- 5:41[SPEAKER_00]: I think they'll be able to handle their business there, they face the jaguards a week after that, they face the giants, chargers, so.
- 5:50[SPEAKER_00]: There's some opportunities for wins in the next four games for the Texans.
- 5:56[SPEAKER_00]: If they don't write the ship a little bit, yeah, you could easily put them further down this list.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_00]: Then we have the upstarts that are playing really good football, the Browns at nine and the Raiders at eight, and that probably should have the Raiders higher than I do, but I still just look at this group and I say, which teams would you rather play right now?
- 6:16[SPEAKER_00]: I think you would probably rather play the Raiders than the teams I have in the top seven, but, you know, there's no question they've been impressive.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_00]: They're the three and one, almost four and oh, they gave the chiefs everything they could handle.
- 6:33[SPEAKER_00]: I still just am kind of like, I need to see more.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_00]: It's been four games, I need to see more of a sample size of Kirk Cousins actually leading this offense and you know, everything working.
- 6:45[SPEAKER_00]: I do think Clint Kuvyak is a great offensive mind.
- 6:49[SPEAKER_00]: I think they have a lot of skill position talent.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_00]: I think the future is bright for the Raiders.
- 6:56[SPEAKER_00]: I just am still not all the way about it on the 2026 version of the Raiders and there's a lot of reasons to be bought in and they've moved up a ton for me.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_00]: So have the Browns who I think I probably have put at the bottom at some point or close to the bottom and the F.C.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_00]: but they've rattled off three straight wins.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_00]: After they got smoked by the Jaguars in Week 1, absolutely crazy.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_00]: as a lot to it.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_00]: They've got a talented defense.
- 7:29[SPEAKER_00]: They've got Drake May, who's coming off of a pretty good game.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_00]: They just beat the Buffalo Bills.
- 7:34[SPEAKER_00]: They're two and two, you know, despite having some really rough outings, they're still two and two.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_00]: They're still like competitive defense, very competitive defense.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that when they get AJ Brown back, they have a shop to be
- 7:53[SPEAKER_00]: Top 5, you know, really highly competitive in the AFC.
- 7:57[SPEAKER_00]: I have the bingles at 6, they obviously just had a huge matchup with the Jaguars in Cincinnati.
- 8:03[SPEAKER_00]: Um, neutral site, neutral penalty game.
- 8:07[SPEAKER_00]: I think the Jaguars win by a little bit more than they did.
- 8:11[SPEAKER_00]: But it wasn't Cincinnati.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_00]: And the penalties, especially in the first half, were insane against the Jaguars.
- 8:17[SPEAKER_00]: 10 penalties in the first half.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_00]: have not seen anything like that in a very, very, very long time with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_00]: But the Bengals, they're a little banged up with their wider silver room, some secondary stuff going on.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think they have very good linebackers.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_00]: There's some questions there, right?
- 8:38[SPEAKER_00]: There's some questions I do think, Job, and I've always been a, you know, they're schematically not as impressive as a lot of the other teams that are higher on the list.
- 8:48[SPEAKER_00]: And I felt that way for a very long time with them.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_00]: At five, I have the Denver Broncos.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_00]: They could, I mean, the top five is just murderers, row, I mean, they're incredible.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_00]: The top five is really good in the AFC in my opinion.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_00]: When you talk about the Broncos though, they've lost two games.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it's hard to put them much higher than this as a two and two football team right now.
- 9:15[SPEAKER_00]: And I still am a believer in the idea that against
- 9:20[SPEAKER_00]: good teams, neutral site or on the road.
- 9:24[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think the Broncos have really proven anything.
- 9:26[SPEAKER_00]: They had to go face the chiefs in week one.
- 9:29[SPEAKER_00]: They lost 31 to 10.
- 9:29[SPEAKER_00]: They had to face the 49ers this past week in San Fran.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_00]: They lost 24 to 14.
- 9:35[SPEAKER_00]: They've beaten two really good teams at home and Denver, where there is an incredible home field advantage.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_00]: You don't get to have that home field advantage if you can't win on the road.
- 9:46[SPEAKER_00]: in the playoffs, right?
- 9:48[SPEAKER_00]: So I think that the Broncos need to prove that they can take the show on the road.
- 9:52[SPEAKER_00]: And like, you know, if they had beaten the 49ers, where would I have them here?
- 9:58[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe as high as third, I still don't believe in bone nicks to the same level that I believe in the quarterbacks that are in the top four here.
- 10:07[SPEAKER_00]: Or even any of the quarterbacks in the top seven.
- 10:09[SPEAKER_00]: You mentioned Drake May.
- 10:10[SPEAKER_00]: I know there's a lot of criticism on him right now, but I'm still a believer in Drake May.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_00]: You know, Joe Burrow, Lamar Jackson at four with the Ravens, Josh Allen at three with the bills, Jaguars, Trevor Lawrence at two chiefs, Patrick Mahomes at one, I do not believe in Bow Nick's the way I believe in those quarterbacks.
- 10:32[SPEAKER_00]: So that's why another reason why I cannot put the Broncos higher on this list right here right now.
- 10:38[SPEAKER_00]: And again, Ravens at four, they're just, they're super solid.
- 10:44[SPEAKER_00]: I mean,
- 10:46[SPEAKER_00]: If I had to pick, if we had a Ravens Broncos, playoff matchup right now, that would be interesting.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_00]: And Denver, taking the Broncos.
- 10:58[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, the Broncos have just that insane home field of vantage, and it's not just like the mile-high altitude situation.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_00]: They just have a wonderful, very loud, rock-as-home crowd.
- 11:10[SPEAKER_00]: And so,
- 11:12[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, difficult for me to say, but the fact of the matter is right now, the Ravens or ahead of the Broncos, the Broncos wouldn't even be in the playoffs if the playoffs started today.
- 11:25[SPEAKER_00]: So, in Baltimore, I would pick the Ravens to win that game, and so that's why I have the Ravens ahead of the Broncos here.
- 11:32[SPEAKER_00]: I think Lamar Jackson's fantastic, obviously Zay Flowers, hopefully
- 11:39[SPEAKER_00]: I haven't seen an update on his injury but say flowers is an incredible player and they've got just very good coaching I believe with Jesse Mentor.
- 11:48[SPEAKER_00]: and their new offensive coordinator.
- 11:50[SPEAKER_00]: So I think the Ravens are in a good spot.
- 11:51[SPEAKER_00]: The bills, yes, they lose to the Patriots, the Patriots are a very good football team, still, as we mentioned, another haven't been playing their best, but I think that the bills are just fine.
- 12:04[SPEAKER_00]: They're not going to win.
- 12:06[SPEAKER_00]: You're not going to go undefeated, and all likelihood, right?
- 12:08[SPEAKER_00]: You're going to lose some games, you're going to lose some tough games, to your divisional opponents at times, and that's what happened to the bills.
- 12:17[SPEAKER_00]: and then you look at the jag wars.
- 12:23[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe the most complete team of football right now, strongly believe in their quarterback and coach combination.
- 12:28[SPEAKER_00]: Great receiving talent, very good running back situation.
- 12:32[SPEAKER_00]: Running game in general is very good.
- 12:34[SPEAKER_00]: I still think the offensive line has room to improve.
- 12:37[SPEAKER_00]: I think the defense, I mean, their plan is good as anybody in the league right now, defensively.
- 12:41[SPEAKER_00]: Travis Hunter's emergence is huge.
- 12:43[SPEAKER_00]: The run defense is huge.
- 12:45[SPEAKER_00]: The ability to force turnovers with that zone, vision, vision zone approach, and just guys really understanding their assignments and how teams are trying to attack them.
- 12:55[SPEAKER_00]: And then they are disruptive up front.
- 12:58[SPEAKER_00]: They're not probably as productive as you would like them to be from a defensive line standpoint, but they are extremely productive.
- 13:04[SPEAKER_00]: And then with the chiefs, like, it feels like things are in a little bit of a difficult spot with some of the injury situations they have, especially receiver, but they keep winning football games.
- 13:15[SPEAKER_00]: And
- 13:16[SPEAKER_00]: You tell me a Kansas City Chief team that's four, and I shouldn't be at the top of the AFC with the way some of their young talent is playing, Patrick Mahomes playing, incredible football, Kenneth Walker looks like probably the best free agent signing we've seen in a while.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, yeah, the Chiefs are number one for me until further notice, Jaguar's two builds three,
- 13:39[SPEAKER_00]: Ravens 4, Broncos 5, bingles 6, Patriots 7, Raiders 8, Browns 9, Texans 10, Colton 11, Steelers at 12, Charges at 13, Jets at 14, Dolphins at 15, Titans at 16, really appreciate y'all tuning in.
