- 0:00Speaker 1: You are worthy, and someone that doesn't make you feel
- 0:03Speaker 1: that way they are not your person. Hello hurdlers, Emily
- 0:22Speaker 1: a body here bringing you another installment of Hurdle Moment
- 0:26Speaker 1: from Hurdle. I am just so excited and feeling super
- 0:31Speaker 1: reinvigorated to be back for season two, and like I
- 0:34Speaker 1: said in Monday's episode, I am all about bringing you
- 0:39Speaker 1: those fresh vibes for the podcast. My mission with Hurdle
- 0:43Speaker 1: is simple to inspire you to be your best self,
- 0:46Speaker 1: to move with intention and have some fun along the way.
- 0:49Speaker 1: And I feel like Hurdle Moment really is my greater opportunity,
- 0:54Speaker 1: a supplement if you will, to have honest, open conversations
- 0:58Speaker 1: with this audience. And I mean that seriously. I know
- 1:02Speaker 1: it's just me on this side of the microp when
- 1:03Speaker 1: it doesn't get lost on me. But what I want
- 1:05Speaker 1: from these weekly episodes, these quick hitters, is to spark
- 1:09Speaker 1: a dialogue for you to interact with me. So please,
- 1:13Speaker 1: what I'm saying here is if what I'm putting down
- 1:16Speaker 1: resonates with you, hit me up, whether that's on Instagram
- 1:19Speaker 1: or over email at Emily Abody at Hurdle Podcast and
- 1:23Speaker 1: Emily at Hurdle dot Us I just want to hear
- 1:26Speaker 1: from you now. For today's episode, I am going to
- 1:30Speaker 1: be talking about something that's really resonating with me this year,
- 1:33Speaker 1: and that's the idea of self worth and owning your value. Now.
- 1:38Speaker 1: I am not sure if it was on Instagram. It
- 1:41Speaker 1: was probably on Instagram. I read this quote that really
- 1:44Speaker 1: stuck with me, and it's stop begging people to sit
- 1:48Speaker 1: down at the table with you. I'll say it again,
- 1:51Speaker 1: stop begging people to sit down at the table with you.
- 1:56Speaker 1: It's powerful, right, And that's because if you stop for
- 1:59Speaker 1: just one second and you think about the things you
- 2:02Speaker 1: were running after, you think about what it is that
- 2:04Speaker 1: you want. If there's maybe a certain relationship or situation,
- 2:08Speaker 1: or an opportunity at your office or with your friends
- 2:10Speaker 1: or your family that you're running after and you feel
- 2:13Speaker 1: like you just can't grab hold of it, there's a
- 2:16Speaker 1: reason why I'm going to let you in on a
- 2:19Speaker 1: little secret right off the bat. When you only open
- 2:22Speaker 1: the door for things that serve you, for things that
- 2:25Speaker 1: are reciprocal your sense of self worth, it's skyrockets. And
- 2:30Speaker 1: who doesn't want that? Who doesn't deserve that? Before I
- 2:35Speaker 1: get into the topic, I do want to take a
- 2:37Speaker 1: second to shout out my sponsor at Beam. Now. Beam
- 2:41Speaker 1: makes meticulously extracted natural CBD products for wellness, rest, and
- 2:45Speaker 1: athletic recovery and all be real with you guys. For
- 2:48Speaker 1: a long long time now I probably get twelve CBD
- 2:53Speaker 1: related pitches in my email inbox every single day. I've
- 2:57Speaker 1: been really hesitant on CBD products, But what I do
- 3:00Speaker 1: love about this company is that they are so one
- 3:03Speaker 1: hundred percent transparent, not only about their ingredients, but about
- 3:06Speaker 1: how much testing they did to come up with this
- 3:09Speaker 1: Goldilocks formula. I myself, I'm super into their tincture, the One,
- 3:14Speaker 1: and I have a hunch that you will be too.
- 3:17Speaker 1: I'll be talking about Beam over the next few weeks,
- 3:19Speaker 1: but in the meantime, I encourage you to give it
- 3:21Speaker 1: a try. Head on over to beamtlc dot com and
- 3:24Speaker 1: use the code Hurdle at checkout for fifteen percent off
- 3:28Speaker 1: your purchase. Again, that is beamtlc dot com. Use the
- 3:32Speaker 1: code Hurdle at checkout for fifteen percent off your purchase today.
- 3:37Speaker 1: And with that, I say it's about time to reclaim
- 3:40Speaker 1: some power. Let's get to hurdling. You are enough. You
- 3:57Speaker 1: are enough, I swear. I'd probably say that to myself
- 4:00Speaker 1: at least once a day. It's like a positive affirmation
- 4:04Speaker 1: right when you say it, and you repeat it over
- 4:06Speaker 1: and over, and as you do that, the more you
- 4:08Speaker 1: do that, you believe it, because that's just how affirmations work.
- 4:12Speaker 1: I want you, right now, right from the get go,
- 4:15Speaker 1: to do a simple exercise. Think about the last time
- 4:19Speaker 1: you try to make a plan or set up a
- 4:21Speaker 1: meeting and it just felt absolutely impossible. Now ask yourself,
- 4:26Speaker 1: why was that. Was the person on the other side
- 4:29Speaker 1: of the computer or the text message or the phone
- 4:31Speaker 1: call not putting in any effort to make this meeting happen,
- 4:34Speaker 1: or was there just maybe a breakdown in communication. I
- 4:38Speaker 1: want to stress this from the beginning of this convo. Yes,
- 4:42Speaker 1: there will be times that there is that breakdown in communication,
- 4:45Speaker 1: but if someone values you, if someone values your time,
- 4:50Speaker 1: they will work with you to figure something out. What
- 4:52Speaker 1: I'm talking about today is the person that you keep
- 4:55Speaker 1: putting in effort with who isn't giving you the time
- 4:59Speaker 1: that you deserve. I feel like this is definitely prevalent
- 5:02Speaker 1: a lot in dating that goes without saying you can't
- 5:05Speaker 1: figure out what's going on with this person that you
- 5:08Speaker 1: are so all in on Man. I have been there.
- 5:14Speaker 1: Everything feels great when you're together, but you're just trying
- 5:17Speaker 1: to make plans and it's not happening, and you have
- 5:18Speaker 1: nothing on the calendar, and they're giving you the run around.
- 5:21Speaker 1: And I hate to be the bearer of bad news,
- 5:24Speaker 1: but there's a reason for that. Now. I'm not going
- 5:26Speaker 1: to dive into what their personal issues might be, but
- 5:29Speaker 1: plain and simple, when someone doesn't make time for you,
- 5:33Speaker 1: when someone doesn't take the initiative to figure out a
- 5:36Speaker 1: way to see you, that's because they don't feel like
- 5:38Speaker 1: they need to. It's that bad news. They are just
- 5:41Speaker 1: not that into you. Of course, Unfortunately, this can apply
- 5:45Speaker 1: in a few different scenarios. Maybe it's with your friendships,
- 5:49Speaker 1: maybe it's at the office, it's with your work relationships.
- 5:53Speaker 1: If you are too willing to give someone something and
- 5:55Speaker 1: they are not willing to reciprocate it back, then this
- 5:59Speaker 1: is a relationship that you probably don't need. Now. The
- 6:02Speaker 1: hard part, and truly I mean this, I get it.
- 6:05Speaker 1: I struggle with it too, is being okay with not
- 6:09Speaker 1: running after the people that don't serve you. You have
- 6:12Speaker 1: to accept that these people or these situations they might
- 6:16Speaker 1: not be for you. Trust me. Other things will fall
- 6:20Speaker 1: into place, other people, other scenarios, other opportunities. It's just
- 6:26Speaker 1: like my stance on failure. You don't work your butt
- 6:29Speaker 1: off for things not to go your way, but failure happens,
- 6:34Speaker 1: and when it does, you have the opportunity to learn
- 6:37Speaker 1: and then pivot and make a change. Yeah, it's frustrating
- 6:41Speaker 1: when the person at the desk next to you gets
- 6:43Speaker 1: invited to the meeting with that person that you want
- 6:46Speaker 1: their time, and of course you want to be in
- 6:48Speaker 1: on the girl's weekend that your so called friends are
- 6:51Speaker 1: planning without you. That stuff sucks. But I want you
- 6:55Speaker 1: in these instances where your heart hurts to remind yourself
- 6:59Speaker 1: that you are worthy and someone that doesn't make you
- 7:03Speaker 1: feel that way they are not your person. I've got
- 7:07Speaker 1: another quick exercise for you, whether it's on your cell
- 7:10Speaker 1: phone or if you're just grabbing a pen and paper
- 7:12Speaker 1: right now, I want you to write down the heading
- 7:14Speaker 1: this is what I bring to the table now. I
- 7:16Speaker 1: know it sounds a little bit silly, but sometimes we
- 7:19Speaker 1: just need these little reminders of how awesome it is
- 7:23Speaker 1: that we are. I'm going to say that to you again.
- 7:26Speaker 1: You are awesome. It's easy to get down in yourself,
- 7:30Speaker 1: especially when life feels like it's moving one thousand miles
- 7:33Speaker 1: an hour. But right now, under this heading, what I
- 7:37Speaker 1: want you to do is take some time to be
- 7:40Speaker 1: candid with what it is that makes you great. I'll start.
- 7:44Speaker 1: You're welcome. I've worked really hard to establish healthy habits
- 7:49Speaker 1: that make me better for the people that I care
- 7:52Speaker 1: about and the people that I interact with throughout my day,
- 7:54Speaker 1: which means that when I'm wagging up with the sun, Yeah,
- 7:58Speaker 1: it takes effort to get out of bed, but I
- 8:00Speaker 1: am up, I'm out, I'm sweating, I feel good after.
- 8:04Speaker 1: And so the line that I write under this heading
- 8:07Speaker 1: of what I bring to the table is I bring
- 8:09Speaker 1: authenticity and a clear mind because I give back to
- 8:13Speaker 1: myself every single morning to get to this place. Another highlight,
- 8:18Speaker 1: I am kind. I truly believe that even in instances
- 8:21Speaker 1: where I feel like I'm met with harsh words or
- 8:25Speaker 1: maybe whoever is on the other side of that dm
- 8:27Speaker 1: isn't having a good day. Regardless of how this person
- 8:31Speaker 1: and I come into contact, I try to treat them
- 8:35Speaker 1: with respect and greet it with an open heart, and
- 8:38Speaker 1: I'll stick by my conviction that that makes me a
- 8:41Speaker 1: kind person. Something really special happens when you own your value,
- 8:48Speaker 1: when you stop begging people treat you how you deserve,
- 8:53Speaker 1: When you stop saying you can't do something and start
- 8:56Speaker 1: saying you won't. You stand by your conviction, you stay
- 9:00Speaker 1: by your foundations, and you stand up for yourself. And
- 9:03Speaker 1: how awesome is that? Because in this moment, you claim
- 9:08Speaker 1: what's yours, you claim what you deserve. And I have
- 9:10Speaker 1: big hopes for you, guys, but I know that for me,
- 9:13Speaker 1: I am willing to fight for that. So now I'll
- 9:17Speaker 1: encourage you to do one last exercise. Maybe this one's
- 9:21Speaker 1: a little bit harder. I want you to make a
- 9:24Speaker 1: list of the situations, or perhaps the people that make
- 9:29Speaker 1: you feel like you're not good enough. You're probably gonna
- 9:32Speaker 1: have to be a little bit blunt, but here's the deal.
- 9:35Speaker 1: When you look at this list, ask yourself, what is
- 9:39Speaker 1: it about these people, these situations, these opportunities that keep
- 9:44Speaker 1: me lingering? Why am I not walking away? I have
- 9:49Speaker 1: a hunch that in most of these relationships you probably can.
- 9:55Speaker 1: And if you feel as though you cannot, then what
- 9:58Speaker 1: you owe it to yourself is to be honest with
- 10:01Speaker 1: that person. Be honest in that situation. Confront it head
- 10:06Speaker 1: on again the language. Instead of saying that I can't
- 10:10Speaker 1: do that, say that I won't do that. Don't diminish
- 10:14Speaker 1: your value to make someone else feel better. You're better
- 10:18Speaker 1: than that. Keep your chin up, hurdlers, We've got some
- 10:22Speaker 1: special connections to make and a whole lot of value
- 10:25Speaker 1: to go around. At Hurdle Podcast at Emily Avadi, another
- 10:30Speaker 1: hurdle conquered. Go grab your seat at the table.
