- 0:52Speaker 1: Who's to say you were speeding?
- 0:54Speaker 2: You'll lose? Yeah, I'm gonna go with the Dolphins to cover,
- 0:57Speaker 2: even though it pains me to do so.
- 1:00Speaker 1: With Miami, I.
- 1:01Speaker 2: Hate the Dolphins. They're in first place. I don't can't
- 1:04Speaker 2: have that they're not and they're spelling themselves. If you're
- 1:06Speaker 2: a pro better this is a game that you fade
- 1:09Speaker 2: and shelf I was thinking that.
- 1:10Speaker 1: You talk like that, fade the game, you don't touch,
- 1:14Speaker 1: and you put it on the shelf.
- 1:15Speaker 2: You wouldn't have heard of it.
- 1:16Speaker 3: No, no, because I just made it up before my time.
- 1:19Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:19Speaker 1: Oh, I just made it up with the spread bred
- 1:22Speaker 1: thirty seven, twenty six and one.
- 1:24Speaker 2: How's my ass taste?
- 1:25Speaker 7: Oh?
- 1:27Speaker 2: This is Patriots Unfiltered.

- 1:33Speaker 8: dot com.
- 1:36Speaker 2: All right, it is Tuesday here at Jilett Stadium, and
- 1:41Speaker 2: it's Deuce, it's Tamara, Paul, myself, Matt and Na Booth.
- 1:44Speaker 2: A little different Tuesday than normal here at Jilette Stadium.
- 1:47Speaker 2: Normally Tuesday of the Patriots day off, but football decided
- 1:53Speaker 2: to change things up a little bit this week. They
- 1:55Speaker 2: gave them Monday off and Tuesday they're back at it
- 1:58Speaker 2: like it's a normal Monday ish.
- 2:01Speaker 4: But they don't usually practice. Someone to either. I think
- 2:03Speaker 4: it's a walk through.
- 2:03Speaker 2: It's a walk through, so I don't know what today is.
- 2:06Speaker 4: But there's installing a new offense.
- 2:07Speaker 2: Yeah, there'll be media availability yet later in the block
- 2:10Speaker 2: around say just odd, Yeah.
- 2:12Speaker 9: It's just do you think this is part of the
- 2:15Speaker 9: star start all over that Bill Belichick mentioned.
- 2:18Speaker 2: In his Yeah my my first thing? And I don't
- 2:21Speaker 2: know this again? Please people. I'm just speculating. Please that
- 2:25Speaker 2: after the game he felt that I need Monday to
- 2:27Speaker 2: sit with my coaches. Yeah, I give give give us
- 2:30Speaker 2: a day and then you guys come back.
- 2:32Speaker 4: I think that that's what I thought too. I also
- 2:35Speaker 4: just wondered if there's a small factor playing into it
- 2:37Speaker 4: of the Raiders playing last night, and maybe I don't
- 2:39Speaker 4: know that that's probably not the case, but I just
- 2:41Speaker 4: wonder you any.
- 2:42Speaker 2: Any that's that you know, like we need to Yes,
- 2:46Speaker 2: you got.
- 2:46Speaker 4: To get this game. We're not really ready for the
- 2:48Speaker 4: game plan. I don't know, maybe to see what makes
- 2:50Speaker 4: more sense to me that they needed a day to
- 2:52Speaker 4: like regroup. Really, I think all.
- 2:54Speaker 1: Of the above if they've never done that before.
- 2:56Speaker 4: No, even when there's a Monday that game that they're.
- 2:58Speaker 1: I think it's the reset there.
- 3:01Speaker 2: And plus they're leaving on Friday for Vegas, so that
- 3:04Speaker 2: might have something to do with it. I don't know. Yeah,
- 3:06Speaker 2: I think everything's upside down right now.
- 3:09Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 3:09Speaker 1: I think it's more about what the state of the
- 3:11Speaker 1: team is right now and what Bill said, you know,
- 3:14Speaker 1: we need to start over all of us. We need
- 3:15Speaker 1: to figure it out. And I do think what what
- 3:18Speaker 1: Freddy sort of speculated like I need some time with
- 3:21Speaker 1: my coaches. I think that's what it was. And I
- 3:24Speaker 1: and I think there was some serious you know, I
- 3:28Speaker 1: think it might have been one of those deals where
- 3:29Speaker 1: Bill said, Okay, I got I got everybody here. We're
- 3:33Speaker 1: open to all suggestions. There's no such thing as a
- 3:35Speaker 1: bad suggestion. Let's hear it. What do you guys that
- 3:38Speaker 1: how do we how do we do this? What's steps?
- 3:40Speaker 1: And I think that they probably took all of the
- 3:42Speaker 1: information that everybody provided and they decided what direction that
- 3:46Speaker 1: we're going to go to.
- 3:46Speaker 2: Now.
- 3:47Speaker 1: Bill O'Brien talked today about an hour ago and they
- 3:52Speaker 1: were asked if he expected Mac Jones to remain at quarterback,
- 3:55Speaker 1: and he said he did, I do.
- 3:56Speaker 2: I do.
- 3:56Speaker 1: I do expect him to remain at quarterback. So, taking
- 3:59Speaker 1: that at face value, that maybe that's not one of
- 4:02Speaker 1: the changes they're going to make. But I do think
- 4:04Speaker 1: they thought long and hard about it. If they're not
- 4:06Speaker 1: going to do it, I think it was close.
- 4:09Speaker 4: Yeah, well I like that. I mean, I think in
- 4:10Speaker 4: some ways people talking about that Mac might need a
- 4:13Speaker 4: reset day or just get him out. I mean, I
- 4:15Speaker 4: think that there is some benefit to that. Sometimes, you know,
- 4:17Speaker 4: in other sports at least. But Bill O'Brien wasn't having that.
- 4:20Speaker 4: He just said that, you know, you get your reset
- 4:22Speaker 4: time on your day off. So dahn Erck comes Evan
- 4:26Speaker 4: back from this practice, so we'll see who was out there.
- 4:29Speaker 9: I also, I don't know if if starting Bailey's Appy
- 4:32Speaker 9: on Sunday would help Mac at all. Like I think,
- 4:35Speaker 9: you know, for some people, they respond well to adversity
- 4:37Speaker 9: and they see like, I'm going to work even harder
- 4:39Speaker 9: to get my job back. For him, I don't know if,
- 4:42Speaker 9: especially with what happened last year, if that would help him.
- 4:44Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, I I just got it's a good thing.
- 4:46Speaker 4: Yeah, the point of of you know, getting up in
- 4:49Speaker 4: the stands and watching just a big picture perspective, not
- 4:52Speaker 4: having the pressure on you, and you know, maybe just
- 4:54Speaker 4: realizing like, oh I do have a little more time
- 4:56Speaker 4: than I'm realizing. You know, I get that. But it
- 4:58Speaker 4: doesn't sound like they're really interesting Evan Evans.
- 5:05Speaker 10: Evan has we turned? Evan has returned?
- 5:12Speaker 9: Has we turned from practice?
- 5:17Speaker 2: All right, Evan, this is a kind of an odd
- 5:19Speaker 2: time for you to be back from practice, But nevertheless.
- 5:22Speaker 11: A rare Tuesday practice for the Patriots. I think it's
- 5:26Speaker 11: warranted given the last two weeks of what we've seen.
- 5:29Speaker 11: But some good news to start Number eleven, Taekwon Thornton
- 5:33Speaker 11: back at Patriots practice on Tuesday. It's gonna be a
- 5:37Speaker 11: light day walk more like a walkthrough type practice. So
- 5:40Speaker 11: I think some of the guys that were injured or
- 5:43Speaker 11: on Sunday were not at this game or not at
- 5:46Speaker 11: this practice, I should say, And I wouldn't look too
- 5:49Speaker 11: much into that quite yet. Let's see what it looks
- 5:51Speaker 11: like tomorrow if they're back in pads and are really
- 5:54Speaker 11: practicing to start the week. But Taekwon Thornton back at practice,
- 5:58Speaker 11: and then not spotted Mike Win with that ankle injury.
- 6:02Speaker 11: H the two guys that are in concussion protocol Juju
- 6:04Speaker 11: and to Mario Douglas, and then obviously Matthew Judon who
- 6:08Speaker 11: remains on the active roster for some reason. So those
- 6:11Speaker 11: are the four guys that weren't there. But a little
- 6:13Speaker 11: bit of good news. I guess that Taekwan's back out there.
- 6:16Speaker 2: Like you said, we'll see tomorrow because walk throughs a
- 6:19Speaker 2: lot of times guys that aren't gonna play or just
- 6:22Speaker 2: stand are at walkthroughs, but they.
- 6:24Speaker 4: Wouldn't have him out there if they because now this
- 6:25Speaker 4: starts the clock even though it was a yes, I don't.
- 6:27Speaker 1: Believe that's not it, but it may have changed it.
- 6:30Speaker 1: If it's a walkthrough, it might be like Evan's talking about,
- 6:33Speaker 1: where it hasn't. But I would expect the clock to
- 6:36Speaker 1: start this week. I mean I yeah, it certainly seemed
- 6:39Speaker 1: like by all accounts, people expected it last week. So
- 6:43Speaker 1: by the way, I wouldn't be surprised if what's the
- 6:45Speaker 1: last person.
- 6:45Speaker 2: Who sat in this chair Fortney Cox? Just like pills?
- 6:51Speaker 2: Oh nice, like or something? They look like what like.
- 6:56Speaker 1: How you threw that out there on the air? That
- 6:58Speaker 1: was that was you know, just.
- 6:59Speaker 4: That was takes a variety of anxiety pills just a quote.
- 7:02Speaker 1: Really Oh so she talks about it on the air.
- 7:04Speaker 1: So you didn't just order as a pill popper, right,
- 7:05Speaker 1: I like it.
- 7:06Speaker 4: Those are pretty big ones.
- 7:07Speaker 2: Yeah, they're big.
- 7:07Speaker 4: They're big pills.
- 7:10Speaker 2: I don't know, horse pills.
- 7:11Speaker 1: Yeah, this has gone. This is gone.
- 7:17Speaker 2: Yeah, so here's here's like the size of it. Half
- 7:21Speaker 2: of it? This only half.
- 7:22Speaker 1: Maybe it's Jardians if you take once daily jar.
- 7:26Speaker 2: I thought they might be like, but that's a different one.
- 7:31Speaker 2: There's like a prescription thing on it, So I don't know.
- 7:34Speaker 4: Man, take a picture of it, Blaskar, Yeah, Tager on
- 7:37Speaker 4: social media.
- 7:37Speaker 2: Yeah, we'll get it rid of that. Somebody will zoom
- 7:40Speaker 2: in and say, oh my god, they're on drugs.
- 7:42Speaker 4: Yeah, he's not ready yet. When he's ready.
- 7:50Speaker 2: I do have one message to remember for Patriots fans
- 7:53Speaker 2: who say they're embarrassed by what's going.
- 7:56Speaker 4: You're you gonna take it to camera three over here?
- 7:58Speaker 2: Yeah, better to have been a dynasty and fallen than
- 8:02Speaker 2: never to have been a dynasty at all. That's all
- 8:05Speaker 2: I can say.
- 8:05Speaker 1: Can really argue with that?
- 8:06Speaker 4: That was poetics?
- 8:08Speaker 1: I can't really, I mean, how can you have an
- 8:10Speaker 1: argument with that?
- 8:10Speaker 2: Right? So just remember you see, you've seen, right, you've
- 8:15Speaker 2: seen some pretty good times right now, maybe this is
- 8:19Speaker 2: you know, uh, the exact opposite, but it'll get better.
- 8:23Speaker 4: And you know, Sparta, well this is I mean, it's
- 8:27Speaker 4: it's interesting, it's new, it's I don't want to say
- 8:30Speaker 4: a struggle, but you know, it's it's a whole new perspective.
- 8:32Speaker 4: And I feel like, you know, for our jobs, if
- 8:34Speaker 4: you can do it now, you can do it anytime,
- 8:36Speaker 4: Like you know, when everything's kind of up against you
- 8:38Speaker 4: at this point in the season, and hopefully things will
- 8:40Speaker 4: turn around. There'll be some positives too, you know, but
- 8:42Speaker 4: you also just want to like produce content that doesn't
- 8:45Speaker 4: sound like you're like, hey, isn't anything great still? You know,
- 8:47Speaker 4: like you got to read the room.
- 8:48Speaker 2: As always, we need to be honest, balanced and fair.
- 8:53Speaker 1: This I led my notes this week. It just posted
- 8:55Speaker 1: this morning with the notion of trying to find a
- 8:57Speaker 1: way to start over, like like build does that mean?
- 9:00Speaker 1: Like Bill said, what what does that really entail? And
- 9:02Speaker 1: I'll be the first to tell you, as I said Sunday,
- 9:04Speaker 1: I don't have any idea, but I just threw a
- 9:07Speaker 1: couple of things out there. The fans not taking it well.
- 9:10Speaker 1: I would love to go away with that nonsense.
- 9:12Speaker 9: I would love to tap into like maybe like a
- 9:14Speaker 9: Golden State Warrior fan or a Laker fan. But I
- 9:17Speaker 9: feel like, is it different in the NBA when you
- 9:19Speaker 9: kind of they're more like individual player fans too?
- 9:22Speaker 1: Yeah, maybe, like it's like around here the Celtics of
- 9:26Speaker 1: the Dynasty. Just so you know, we didn't we didn't
- 9:29Speaker 1: win half of our titles when we were playing for
- 9:31Speaker 1: somebody else like the Lakers. Did, Yeah, let's not go there.
- 9:35Speaker 4: I just think the thing Celtics have. The thing that's
- 9:37Speaker 4: hard about it is just that there's so many things
- 9:40Speaker 4: to point the finger at that you just kind of
- 9:42Speaker 4: get in conversations or arguments with Well, I'm pointing the
- 9:45Speaker 4: finger at Mac. Well, I'm pointing the finger up Bill. Well,
- 9:47Speaker 4: I'm pointing the figure at the offensive line. Well, I'm
- 9:48Speaker 4: pointing the.
- 9:51Speaker 1: All right.
- 9:51Speaker 4: I know, and they are all right, But it's like
- 9:53Speaker 4: you never really get anywhere because you just kind of
- 9:55Speaker 4: go around in circles and say, yeah, it's all been
- 9:57Speaker 4: basically terrible right now, and there's not really one thing
- 10:00Speaker 4: or even really one player at this particular moment to trumpet.
- 10:03Speaker 4: But you know, thirteen games left.
- 10:05Speaker 9: So I like how you brought that up, because you know,
- 10:07Speaker 9: when I think of starting over, I think you have
- 10:09Speaker 9: to do that. When you have all three phases playing horribly,
- 10:11Speaker 9: it's like special teams. It's like you can't even like
- 10:13Speaker 9: say that they played well. You have high snaps, low snaps,
- 10:16Speaker 9: bad punts, miss field goals, Like there's nothing complimentary about
- 10:20Speaker 9: this team right now.
- 10:21Speaker 4: That's like who can bring a spark? You know, Like
- 10:23Speaker 4: that's what I'm kind of just waiting for right now
- 10:25Speaker 4: is like, could somebody step up and bring a spark?
- 10:27Speaker 4: Like I'm you know, I'm not expecting anyone to really
- 10:29Speaker 4: do it, but there's a void right now, you know
- 10:31Speaker 4: with judea on out and Gonzalez we saw last week,
- 10:34Speaker 4: I mean they had you know, two sacks. One was
- 10:36Speaker 4: basically a blown block. The other was you know, they
- 10:38Speaker 4: blitzed Myles Brian off the edge and he eventually got
- 10:40Speaker 4: to him. So, you know, no pressure, it's just who's
- 10:43Speaker 4: going to step up and make a statement? You know,
- 10:45Speaker 4: some kind of game is it? Romandra Stevenson. Paul was
- 10:47Speaker 4: talking a little bit about him before the show. Does
- 10:49Speaker 4: he all of a sudden, you know, get going and
- 10:51Speaker 4: you know, come on, let's climb on my back. Like
- 10:53Speaker 4: I just I feel like they need that, they need
- 10:55Speaker 4: a performance from a player right now that says I'm
- 10:59Speaker 4: I'm going to win this game and you guys come
- 11:00Speaker 4: with me, and then people start to follow them, you know,
- 11:02Speaker 4: like I that's what I think it has to be.
- 11:04Speaker 1: That's just makes it really hard, like when you're trying
- 11:06Speaker 1: to identify what Bill might be talking about, because I,
- 11:09Speaker 1: like I try to take Bill a little bit at
- 11:10Speaker 1: face value and just say, okay, so we're gonna start over.
- 11:14Speaker 1: Normally that would entail you come and do some of
- 11:16Speaker 1: yourself scouting, and you sit there and you say, Evan, Okay,
- 11:19Speaker 1: what are we doing well? What are some of the
- 11:21Speaker 1: things that we're doing well that we can accentuate more?
- 11:24Speaker 1: And I don't know that there are really a lot
- 11:27Speaker 1: of examples of things they're doing well. They're certainly not
- 11:29Speaker 1: running it well, whether it be stretch plays, trying to
- 11:33Speaker 1: get to the edge up the middle, you know, or
- 11:38Speaker 1: like like I thought the beginning of the game the
- 11:39Speaker 1: other day, and we talked about this in postgame. First play,
- 11:43Speaker 1: you get eight yards up the middle. I love the
- 11:45Speaker 1: idea of taking a shot on second and two, Fred,
- 11:48Speaker 1: you and I have been complaining about the quarterback sneaks
- 11:50Speaker 1: to just get the first down. You know, okay, but
- 11:53Speaker 1: it didn't work. You know, Mac overthrew. I think it
- 11:55Speaker 1: was born on the second down play and you didn't
- 11:58Speaker 1: get anything out of it. Line up and run the
- 12:01Speaker 1: ball and get the first down on third down. Instead,
- 12:03Speaker 1: you take another shot. This one doesn't work to Hunter Henry,
- 12:06Speaker 1: so not only you going three and out, your quarterbacks
- 12:08Speaker 1: now one and two over two, he's not feeling good
- 12:12Speaker 1: about himself at the start of a game, coming off
- 12:14Speaker 1: of the worst performance of his career, So like, what
- 12:17Speaker 1: exactly are they doing well that you can point to?
- 12:19Speaker 1: And that's what makes it really hard to start over.
- 12:21Speaker 4: Especially in the situation where three and out, it's like,
- 12:23Speaker 4: you know that you're on shaky ground already right now
- 12:25Speaker 4: with the offense, Like what you needed more than anything
- 12:27Speaker 4: last week was a good first drive or at the
- 12:29Speaker 4: very least not a three and out, and you know
- 12:32Speaker 4: that's what they got. I like the point, I.
- 12:36Speaker 11: Have a tough I'm now I have a I don't know,
- 12:41Speaker 11: I have a tough time of putting what I feel
- 12:43Speaker 11: into words at the moment in a respectful way about
- 12:46Speaker 11: the offense. This is their film from this game is
- 12:51Speaker 11: an abject disaster. I mean, you have eleven guys that
- 12:55Speaker 11: I could probably point to ten out of eleven not
- 12:59Speaker 11: doing their jobs correct a given play.
- 13:02Speaker 1: I mean, we're all it really takes as a couple,
- 13:04Speaker 1: and we're well, they tell you that ten guys could
- 13:06Speaker 1: do the right thing in one way, right, That's what
- 13:08Speaker 1: I mean.
- 13:09Speaker 11: Yea, we're talking about, from top to bottom, a complete
- 13:13Speaker 11: just failure of execution, whether it's blocking execution from the
- 13:18Speaker 11: offensive line, quarterbacking which we can get to, UH receiver
- 13:22Speaker 11: play which we can get to.
- 13:24Speaker 3: It's all of it. It's all of it.
- 13:26Speaker 11: And I don't where do you start to start over.
- 13:30Speaker 11: I mean, I think I have a much more like
- 13:33Speaker 11: knee jerk start over than what they're gonna do. But
- 13:37Speaker 11: they in terms of starting over, I think the only
- 13:39Speaker 11: thing that you can do, in my mind is go
- 13:42Speaker 11: back to that Eagles game in Week one offensively, where
- 13:45Speaker 11: you did throw for three hundred yards, you did throw
- 13:47Speaker 11: for three touchdowns. And if I'm Bill Belichick and Bill O'Brien,
- 13:51Speaker 11: I'm making a highlight reel of plays from filling.
- 13:54Speaker 1: The two drives in the second quarter. Yeah, but let's
- 13:57Speaker 1: let's get those plays and figure out what worked, how
- 13:59Speaker 1: they worked, and how we can do that.
- 14:01Speaker 2: I have something to say about that, Oh okay, because obviously, no,
- 14:05Speaker 2: obviously the offense has gone the wrong direction. Why is that?
- 14:10Speaker 2: Why did they start out better than they are now
- 14:12Speaker 2: when we all thought they'd get better as we went along.
- 14:15Speaker 2: And I think it comes down to the fact, I
- 14:19Speaker 2: hate to say it, that they don't have the skilled
- 14:22Speaker 2: players to challenge defenses. And as they put more and
- 14:26Speaker 2: more on tape, other teams say, we don't need to
- 14:31Speaker 2: worry about that guy, that guy, that guy, that guy
- 14:33Speaker 2: their offensive line, and it's getting easier for teams to
- 14:37Speaker 2: defend us. That's why we're looking worse as time goes by,
- 14:41Speaker 2: because teams know how to defend us. It's a broken record,
- 14:46Speaker 2: and it's been three years in the running. But that's
- 14:49Speaker 2: the case. I think. You know, at the beginning season, okay,
- 14:52Speaker 2: Bill O'Brien's, are what are the Patriots offense going to
- 14:54Speaker 2: look like? Teams really didn't know. You know, they didn't
- 14:57Speaker 2: show anything in the preseason. But as we get more
- 15:00Speaker 2: on tape, teams like, oh okay, it's the same old same,
- 15:02Speaker 2: Oh yeah, just you know, pack the bucks. We don't
- 15:06Speaker 2: have to worry about downfield because we can go man
- 15:08Speaker 2: on man. There's nobody here that's a that's a man
- 15:10Speaker 2: on man beater, one on one beater, and and if
- 15:14Speaker 2: they have a play here and there, okay, but you know,
- 15:16Speaker 2: in the long term, they're not gonna beat us. You know,
- 15:20Speaker 2: disagree if you want, but this is what I'm saying.
- 15:23Speaker 11: From the I think in the first let's call it
- 15:26Speaker 11: two and a half games because the second half against
- 15:28Speaker 11: the Jets was also bad. Bill O'Brien and Mac did
- 15:33Speaker 11: their best to keep it together. That's my opinion. And
- 15:36Speaker 11: I understand that Mac wasn't perfect and he wasn't playing
- 15:39Speaker 11: like a top five quarterback. I'm not saying that, but
- 15:41Speaker 11: if you just look statistically, in the first three games
- 15:45Speaker 11: of the season, Mac is seventeenth in PFF grade, His
- 15:48Speaker 11: turnover worthy play rate is three percent, like very normal.
- 15:53Speaker 11: Now he's PFF's worst graded passer thirty grade. So he
- 15:58Speaker 11: went from seventy to thirty. We went from a three
- 16:01Speaker 11: percent turnover worthy play rate to a fourteen percent overworthy
- 16:05Speaker 11: play rate. So he held it together for two and
- 16:09Speaker 11: a half games, and I think with O'Brien's help, obviously,
- 16:13Speaker 11: And I think what's so telling about it all is
- 16:16Speaker 11: that it all came apart in five weeks. It took
- 16:18Speaker 11: five weeks for it all to just completely crumble. And
- 16:24Speaker 11: looking back at those first couple of games, again, I
- 16:26Speaker 11: don't think Mac was perfect. I don't think he was
- 16:29Speaker 11: playing like Patrick Mahomes or anything like that, but I
- 16:31Speaker 11: think he was. He was playing good ball, like decent football,
- 16:35Speaker 11: and now he's playing disastrous football. And with the quarterback
- 16:41Speaker 11: coming apart, now the whole thing is completely unraveling. I
- 16:46Speaker 11: have a tough time like with it from just like
- 16:49Speaker 11: from the top down. No, like blaming it on a
- 16:52Speaker 11: player level. To me is like when a company fails
- 16:56Speaker 11: and he blamed mid level management right where you're pointing
- 16:59Speaker 11: at like you know, the Mike Douseau's of the world,
- 17:02Speaker 11: Thank you, supervisor Mike, and saying like it's his fault
- 17:05Speaker 11: that that we're going bankrupt. Right, it's not his fault.
- 17:10Speaker 11: It's not Mike's fault. It's the CEO's fault.
- 17:12Speaker 2: Yeah, when when there's when there's such a failure, I
- 17:16Speaker 2: hate to use that word, but you have to across
- 17:18Speaker 2: the board. You gotta look above. Yeah, you gotta look above.
- 17:23Speaker 2: I mean it's right, something's not getting through to everybody.
- 17:27Speaker 2: It's not just one or two guys. Everybody doesn't seem
- 17:31Speaker 2: to be on the same page and you know, doing
- 17:35Speaker 2: what they need to do. And that's now you've got
- 17:38Speaker 2: to look above.
- 17:39Speaker 9: Do you think it's gonna be even harder to get
- 17:41Speaker 9: a team a locker room to buy in at this point?
- 17:43Speaker 9: Like to know that, Like it's like hard to hear.
- 17:47Speaker 9: We just have to try harder. We have to practice harder.
- 17:49Speaker 3: We have to.
- 17:50Speaker 9: It's hard to keep hearing that because after a while
- 17:52Speaker 9: it's like, yeah.
- 17:54Speaker 2: No, you need to you need to come to Jesus meeting,
- 17:56Speaker 2: you know, and it's got to be Bill, And it's
- 17:59Speaker 2: like everybody in the room not you know, defense over here.
- 18:03Speaker 2: Everybody say, guys, who wants to be here? Like who cares?
- 18:08Speaker 2: I need people who care? You know, we're in this together.
- 18:11Speaker 2: We suck right now, but we can be better. But
- 18:15Speaker 2: we all have to want to do it and be
- 18:18Speaker 2: on the same page and trust each other and be
- 18:21Speaker 2: accountable for yourself. And you got to have that type
- 18:24Speaker 2: of meeting and then you come out of that with
- 18:26Speaker 2: just a single purpose because right now it's all over
- 18:30Speaker 2: the place. It's all over the place.
- 18:33Speaker 11: I don't know how, and they're gonna roll Mac back
- 18:35Speaker 11: out there on Sunday. It sounds like that's what Bill
- 18:38Speaker 11: O'Brien told us this morning. I don't know how I
- 18:41Speaker 11: mean in terms of like the confidence of the entire team,
- 18:45Speaker 11: like not just the offense, but the confidence of the
- 18:48Speaker 11: entire team. It is very apparent to me that nobody
- 18:52Speaker 11: in that locker room is believing in.
- 18:54Speaker 3: The quarterback right now.
- 18:56Speaker 11: And that starts with right after the game, David andrew Well,
- 19:00Speaker 11: what went wrong turning the ball over? Who's turning the
- 19:02Speaker 11: ball over? David Andrews isn't turning the ball over. And
- 19:05Speaker 11: you can't blame it on Pop Douglas or Zeke Elliott
- 19:08Speaker 11: fumbling anymore. Like there's one guy that's turning the ball over.
- 19:12Speaker 11: So when David Andrews comes up to the podium and
- 19:14Speaker 11: Hunter Henry comes up to the podium and says, what's
- 19:16Speaker 11: killing us turnovers? Who's turning the ball over? And then
- 19:19Speaker 11: you look at the pick six and I know it's
- 19:23Speaker 11: gone around Twitter like a little bit. The body language
- 19:26Speaker 11: of the entire offense on the pick six is like
- 19:29Speaker 11: are you kidding me? Like we just talked about this
- 19:33Speaker 11: for two straight weeks, that we can't turn the ball over,
- 19:36Speaker 11: We can't turn it over, we can't turn it over.
- 19:39Speaker 11: And the second drive of the game it's a pick
- 19:41Speaker 11: six and Hunter Henry is standing there palms up like
- 19:46Speaker 11: I'm I'm open, like throw me the damn ball and
- 19:49Speaker 11: Tyron Matthews running the other way, and that is.
- 19:56Speaker 3: That that's just.
- 19:57Speaker 2: Whoa, whoa? What was that?
- 20:00Speaker 4: Blew my ear? Drums out, and I would say to
- 20:01Speaker 4: the impact on the defense, who comes out forces two punts,
- 20:06Speaker 4: you know, and then they look up at the scoreboard
- 20:08Speaker 4: and they're down seven to nothing. And you know, I
- 20:11Speaker 4: watched mostly just the defense back but and then they're
- 20:14Speaker 4: they're fine, like nobody's making plays though, you know, and
- 20:16Speaker 4: it's just they can, you know.
- 20:19Speaker 1: And I'm a little critical of the defense, and I
- 20:22Speaker 1: admit that I don't think they have Fred's old thing.
- 20:27Speaker 1: They have no hope, you know, they have to get
- 20:30Speaker 1: belief from what's going on in the other areas of
- 20:32Speaker 1: the game. And I don't think the defense was great
- 20:35Speaker 1: to start the game. But they found a way to
- 20:36Speaker 1: force two punts. Now they got a lot of help,
- 20:40Speaker 1: but they found a way to force two punts on
- 20:41Speaker 1: the first two drives, and then they get a pick six.
- 20:44Speaker 1: So now they come back on the field. The next
- 20:47Speaker 1: time they come back on the field, they had trailing
- 20:48Speaker 1: seven nothing. They haven't allowed a scoring drive, and what happened, touchdown,
- 20:53Speaker 1: touch big plays the next two times they are on
- 20:55Speaker 1: the field. Because and I'm not putting this on the defense,
- 20:58Speaker 1: I'm saying it's hard to play that way when you're
- 21:00Speaker 1: not getting anything from there you have any belief that
- 21:03Speaker 1: the other side is going to do something.
- 21:05Speaker 9: And I want to go to what Evan said to
- 21:06Speaker 9: just about how like how the offense was looking with
- 21:09Speaker 9: Hunter Henry with his palms up when Mac Johns went
- 21:11Speaker 9: to the sideline, nobody on the offense went over to
- 21:14Speaker 9: cheer him up. It was Dietrich Wise who went over
- 21:16Speaker 9: and had a few words with him, and it's just
- 21:19Speaker 9: it's sad to see like no one came over to him.
- 21:21Speaker 4: See, that's that's.
- 21:24Speaker 2: Want I want trick Wise in my fox hole.
- 21:27Speaker 1: No me too, you know me, but you guys know,
- 21:31Speaker 1: like I always find it more fascinating this kind of
- 21:34Speaker 1: stuff like that. I'm more into the soap opera. And
- 21:37Speaker 1: sometimes in the off season people get on me for
- 21:40Speaker 1: that because you know, let's let's we don't know what
- 21:43Speaker 1: they know football wise, you know, no offense. So so
- 21:49Speaker 1: it's to me, it's it's more interesting and more uh
- 21:54Speaker 1: just some more important to sort of like how they
- 21:56Speaker 1: all put together the people. It's like when we when
- 21:58Speaker 1: we talk about the picks and in games and I
- 22:00Speaker 1: talk about the spot, it's not about like the x's
- 22:03Speaker 1: and os, It's about that team had to go across
- 22:06Speaker 1: the country and they do this, and they did that,
- 22:08Speaker 1: and those are the kinds of like the external factors,
- 22:11Speaker 1: and I think right now there's a lot of that
- 22:14Speaker 1: going on in the locker room. And you know, I
- 22:15Speaker 1: listened to Burt Brier, and I don't think Burt Brier
- 22:17Speaker 1: is the end all be all either. Okay, I like Burt,
- 22:20Speaker 1: but he works harder space it not everything he reports
- 22:23Speaker 1: is accurate. He writes a lot of this kind of
- 22:25Speaker 1: stuff that I'm interested. And he talked about the defense
- 22:29Speaker 1: has been on Mac Jones in practice for consistently making
- 22:33Speaker 1: these kinds of reckless plays. Interesting. This was last week
- 22:38Speaker 1: heading into this game, you know, saying like, you can't
- 22:41Speaker 1: make that play, that's the kind of play. It's going
- 22:42Speaker 1: to be an interception in the game. And then he
- 22:45Speaker 1: comes out and you know, instead of taking the sack
- 22:48Speaker 1: on the third and six on the second drive, he
- 22:51Speaker 1: tries to just get rid of it and throws it
- 22:53Speaker 1: recklessly into trouble and it ends up in the worst
- 22:55Speaker 1: possible So I don't result, and I think the defense
- 22:58Speaker 1: is like, what are we doing? So I'm not giving
- 23:00Speaker 1: my David Andrews and Hunter Henry are asked.
- 23:02Speaker 2: Assuming that report is accurate. Shouldn't it be Bill O'Brien
- 23:07Speaker 2: on his butt about that? And are they babying him?
- 23:10Speaker 1: That's another part of like sort of the soap opera
- 23:12Speaker 1: likee was talking about.
- 23:14Speaker 4: But yeah, but I think I think in some ways,
- 23:16Speaker 4: and I don't want to say it worse, but like
- 23:17Speaker 4: it's more impactful. I feel like when the defense is like,
- 23:20Speaker 4: you know, in your face, I mean, you hear that
- 23:21Speaker 4: stuff a lot of how competitive things would be between
- 23:23Speaker 4: Brady and the old defense, you know, about how they
- 23:26Speaker 4: push each other and all that. But I think the
- 23:28Speaker 4: defense is probably sick of it, and every time they're
- 23:30Speaker 4: getting a pick in practice, they're like, this is what's happening, Like,
- 23:34Speaker 4: I mean, you know, this is their chance to then
- 23:35Speaker 4: rub it in his face a little bit. I mean,
- 23:37Speaker 4: Bill O'Brien's got to do it. And that's of course
- 23:39Speaker 4: corrections that are being made after practice. But I it's
- 23:42Speaker 4: interesting to me just that the defense.
- 23:43Speaker 1: And that was another part of the soap opera was
- 23:45Speaker 1: Zoe was talking about. During the game, there was a
- 23:47Speaker 1: time where evidently O'Brien, we can't see this from our purge,
- 23:51Speaker 1: but O'Brien sort of had his head in his hands.
- 23:53Speaker 4: There's a picture of double face.
- 23:54Speaker 1: Belichick has his Bill him. Yeah. Bill Belichick was like
- 23:58Speaker 1: beeemingly consoling O'Brian. Mac is there, Zappy's over there. Mac
- 24:03Speaker 1: and Zappy seemed to have no interaction whatsoever. And at
- 24:06Speaker 1: the same time, the players are like, these are the
- 24:09Speaker 1: same mistakes. He keeps making the same mistakes, and then
- 24:12Speaker 1: again not knowing if all of this is true or not.
- 24:15Speaker 1: It's all just anecdotal from Afar. Then after the game
- 24:19Speaker 1: is like an anonymous quote to whatever was it, Fox
- 24:22Speaker 1: Fox or you know, with Henry McKenna who ascribes something
- 24:26Speaker 1: to you know, ostensibly someone in Max camp who says,
- 24:30Speaker 1: what do you think we're gonna do?
- 24:31Speaker 2: You know, like, you can't make garbage taste make.
- 24:33Speaker 1: Garbage taste good if you're the cook. Okay, how do
- 24:36Speaker 1: you think that goes over? Yeah, but it doesn't matter
- 24:38Speaker 1: if it's not true. It's out there, you know, like
- 24:41Speaker 1: mentally this team is fried right now.
- 24:44Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 24:44Speaker 9: I also don't like that quote because I'm like, you're
- 24:47Speaker 9: actually the cook is doing well right, You're right now
- 24:51Speaker 9: he looks like a cook and training, not a chef
- 24:53Speaker 9: a fox.
- 24:55Speaker 11: So like in Max defense, because we're ripping Mac a lot,
- 24:58Speaker 11: and rightfully so I'm ripping every but in Max defense,
- 25:01Speaker 11: this is this is abhorrent, Like they can't block anybody.
- 25:05Speaker 11: The routes are horrible. The guy that they brought in
- 25:08Speaker 11: to replace Jacobe Myers is toast, Like I don't want
- 25:11Speaker 11: to see Juju on the field anymore.
- 25:13Speaker 3: He's horrible.
- 25:14Speaker 2: But that all you said is true. As a quarterback,
- 25:18Speaker 2: you can't be telling your camp because.
- 25:21Speaker 11: I'm telling you right now, and I just no disrespect
- 25:24Speaker 11: to Henry. I am would be really really shocked if
- 25:28Speaker 11: that quote is true.
- 25:30Speaker 1: Oh then that that's terrible. That's terribly shocked. If the
- 25:33Speaker 1: quote is true, or if it came from someone that's
- 25:35Speaker 1: truly in Max camp, because I go.
- 25:37Speaker 4: To the last yeah, yes, well it's one of Max buddies,
- 25:41Speaker 4: doesn't think everyone around him is good enough, someone who.
- 25:44Speaker 1: Wants someone who once met Max Jones. I mean, if
- 25:47Speaker 1: he made up the quote, that's really no.
- 25:49Speaker 11: I'm not saying that because I like, I'm not trying
- 25:52Speaker 11: to like disrespect Henry like that, but as somebody that
- 25:56Speaker 11: can has tried to get into Mac Jones's ear. Trust
- 25:59Speaker 11: me when I trust me when I tell you his
- 26:02Speaker 11: camp is extremely tight, extremely tight. He's not on social media,
- 26:07Speaker 11: he doesn't have a big friendship circle or circle of trust.
- 26:11Speaker 2: It's like him, Yeah.
- 26:14Speaker 11: It's it's his family, his parents, and it's well, I
- 26:19Speaker 11: don't know about that, but and I like, you know,
- 26:21Speaker 11: it's it's a very it's a very very small nucleus
- 26:24Speaker 11: of people that really talk to Mac and and get
- 26:27Speaker 11: access to Mac.
- 26:28Speaker 1: Can we agree that wouldn't be any agent dumb enough
- 26:30Speaker 1: to say something like that. So I can't imagine.
- 26:33Speaker 2: I could imagine he thought he was off the record.
- 26:37Speaker 11: Okay, I just feel like, you know, on some levels,
- 26:41Speaker 11: I feel like all of the blame towards Mac is
- 26:45Speaker 11: totally justified. He's playing like crap all right. His feet
- 26:48Speaker 11: are all over the place, his eyes are all over
- 26:51Speaker 11: the place. He's not running plays even from clean pockets.
- 26:54Speaker 11: He's not seeing it. He's not getting to the open reads,
- 26:57Speaker 11: he's not delivering the ball on time. Like all these
- 27:00Speaker 11: things they're true, And why I would bench I would
- 27:02Speaker 11: sit him down because this is you can't win with
- 27:05Speaker 11: quarterback play like this, regardless of what's going on around him.
- 27:08Speaker 3: You just can't.
- 27:09Speaker 11: And for all of Zappi's faults, I think he's there's
- 27:13Speaker 11: somebody to be said for the fact that he's less
- 27:15Speaker 11: broken by the situation currently than Mac. And secondly, he
- 27:21Speaker 11: moves around better back there than Mac does. I think,
- 27:24Speaker 11: at least from it.
- 27:25Speaker 1: I don't think there's much question that moves around.
- 27:27Speaker 11: Yeah, he moves around a little bit better. He's a
- 27:29Speaker 11: little bit bouncier in the pocket, he can kind of
- 27:31Speaker 11: evade the rush a little bit more. And maybe having
- 27:34Speaker 11: somebody back there that that will, you know, skip to
- 27:37Speaker 11: his left or skip to his right a little bit
- 27:38Speaker 11: and then make the throw will help the offensive line
- 27:42Speaker 11: a little bit. I'm not saying it's going to be
- 27:43Speaker 11: worlds better, and his accuracy, as you know, been a
- 27:46Speaker 11: real concern. But I don't see how Mac puts himself
- 27:50Speaker 11: back together again on the fly, like having to focus
- 27:54Speaker 11: on the Raiders and Max Crosby and the game plan
- 27:57Speaker 11: and all these different elements like a mental reset. And
- 28:01Speaker 11: I know Bill O'Brien said that there's no such thing
- 28:03Speaker 11: in season as a mental reset, but that's where I
- 28:06Speaker 11: would go. But at the same time, like that's scapegoating
- 28:09Speaker 11: Mac for Belichick's failures.
- 28:12Speaker 1: YEA, Like this is.
- 28:13Speaker 11: That you're you're blaming what happened to this offense over
- 28:17Speaker 11: the last you know whatever games it's been, you know,
- 28:19Speaker 11: twenty games now dating back to last year on the
- 28:22Speaker 11: quarterback when the problem is really with the head coach
- 28:25Speaker 11: and the general manager. Like you came into the season
- 28:28Speaker 11: with no tackles besides Trent Brown, you have no receivers
- 28:31Speaker 11: that are worth a damn to anybody. You like, you
- 28:35Speaker 11: have an offense that is completely talentless, completely and you know,
- 28:40Speaker 11: you go watch like the Raiders and the Packers, like
- 28:43Speaker 11: even last night, that they have a totally different ballgame.
- 28:47Speaker 11: Like I just watched the Raiders offense film and it's like,
- 28:50Speaker 11: you know, they got different ways to attack you. They
- 28:52Speaker 11: got different guys to attack you with, Like you want
- 28:55Speaker 11: double cover DeVante Adams. We have Jacobe Myers, we have
- 28:58Speaker 11: the running game with Josh Jacobs, We have other plans up.
- 29:02Speaker 2: And we have are with a halfway line. Yeah, and
- 29:08Speaker 2: you know, because they haven't been able to run the
- 29:10Speaker 2: ball up.
- 29:10Speaker 1: Their offensive line is terrible. Yeah, but this is I
- 29:13Speaker 1: think this is the point. You can do things with
- 29:17Speaker 1: a bad offensive line if you have some skill guys
- 29:20Speaker 1: that can overcome.
- 29:21Speaker 3: You know, I'm watching.
- 29:22Speaker 1: Struggling offensively to know they don't score either, but it's
- 29:26Speaker 1: even the fact that they don't score, like they scored
- 29:29Speaker 1: seventeen points in that game, and it still looks World's
- 29:31Speaker 1: worlds better than anything the Patriots. Yeah, and you're watching
- 29:35Speaker 1: Garoppolo and he's calm and he's seeing it and he's
- 29:38Speaker 1: progressing through his reads. You know, there's a play before
- 29:41Speaker 1: the half where he's got DeVante Adams running a double move.
- 29:43Speaker 11: It's not there. He comes off that comes to the
- 29:46Speaker 11: backside dig makes the throw. Like these are things that
- 29:49Speaker 11: Mac is just not doing right now because the second
- 29:52Speaker 11: that the first read isn't immediately there for him, it's
- 29:55Speaker 11: panic mode.
- 29:56Speaker 3: It's instant panic.
- 29:57Speaker 2: But also there's people on top of them. You know,
- 30:00Speaker 2: that's part.
- 30:01Speaker 11: But even but even when there's not like even from
- 30:03Speaker 11: the clean pockets, it's you know, it's skipping reads, it's
- 30:07Speaker 11: getting to it's first read check down or first read panic.
- 30:11Speaker 11: Like those are like the two elements of this.
- 30:15Speaker 1: Six was one of those. He like the protection was
- 30:19Speaker 1: reasonable and I don't think he thought it was, and
- 30:22Speaker 1: he kind of panicked and tried to throw a check
- 30:24Speaker 1: down to Stevenson was at his feet. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 30:27Speaker 1: I mean he was had to play. They had no chance,
- 30:29Speaker 1: so I thought he had some time.
- 30:31Speaker 4: These things are overshadowing everything for me. And it's like
- 30:34Speaker 4: you can get down to the nitty gritty of the
- 30:35Speaker 4: offensive line and max footwards, but it's like, if the
- 30:37Speaker 4: team doesn't believe in Mac, or the team isn't buying
- 30:40Speaker 4: what Belichick is saying, they're anywhere doesn't. Yeah, I mean
- 30:43Speaker 4: I think that. I think I think it's totally relevant
- 30:47Speaker 4: because that's what this team doesn't look like right now.
- 30:49Speaker 4: They don't look like it.
- 30:50Speaker 1: They Sunday that wasn't playing for its head coach and
- 30:53Speaker 1: wasn't playing for its quarter.
- 30:54Speaker 4: They were just kind of running out there and and
- 30:56Speaker 4: it just got worse. And we said it right from
- 30:58Speaker 4: the get go when he threw the.
- 31:00Speaker 1: And I'm not saying quit, Like, don't mistake that I
- 31:03Speaker 1: said that they laid down, because I don't think they did, no,
- 31:06Speaker 1: But I don't think they have belief in what's going on.
- 31:08Speaker 4: Right right and to win an NFL football game, like,
- 31:10Speaker 4: you have to be all in as a team, you know,
- 31:12Speaker 4: to be a great team, you have to all be
- 31:14Speaker 4: all in.
- 31:15Speaker 2: As easy as the Patriots have made it look over
- 31:17Speaker 2: the last dynasty it's hard to win football games in
- 31:21Speaker 2: the NFL.
- 31:21Speaker 4: See it now, it's hard to win now.
- 31:23Speaker 11: It's also hard to lose thirty four to nothing. Right, So,
- 31:26Speaker 11: like if you're losing thirty four to nothing like I
- 31:28Speaker 11: we and myself included, we talk about the talent gap
- 31:32Speaker 11: and like the lack of talent offensively, these are NFL players,
- 31:35Speaker 11: Like these guys on the Patriots roster are NFL players.
- 31:38Speaker 11: You don't lose seventy two to three in a two
- 31:41Speaker 11: week span just because you're down talent compared to the
- 31:44Speaker 11: other team.
- 31:45Speaker 2: No, it's a bigger there's more issues.
- 31:47Speaker 1: Like normally, if you're just short on talent, you lose
- 31:50Speaker 1: like you did the first two games. Yeah right, yeah,
- 31:52Speaker 1: which we were quite good enough.
- 31:53Speaker 4: They plays better than they're you know, they made the
- 31:57Speaker 4: plays we didn't.
- 31:58Speaker 2: But so there's only one guy right now they can
- 32:00Speaker 2: write this ship, and that's Bill Belichick. He's the only
- 32:03Speaker 2: it's up to him. He created it. He's the only
- 32:07Speaker 2: guy that can.
- 32:07Speaker 4: Well that's that's where I've landed. I'm sure we can all.
- 32:10Speaker 4: You know, we got a lot of calls about like
- 32:11Speaker 4: fire Bill and stuff and get I just think he's
- 32:14Speaker 4: spent the last twenty plus years building this ship, you
- 32:17Speaker 4: make them walk the plank. Now he's getting off easy,
- 32:19Speaker 4: you know, like he's just getting out and someone else
- 32:21Speaker 4: is gonna have to deal with the mess he put
- 32:23Speaker 4: this team together. He's gonna have to, you know, finish
- 32:25Speaker 4: this season out and and try to turn it around.
- 32:28Speaker 4: It's his, it's his mess what he made.
- 32:30Speaker 2: So thirteen wins is still in play.
- 32:33Speaker 11: Oh, I understand, like from an organizational perspective, and I
- 32:40Speaker 11: feel like I understand this a little bit more now
- 32:42Speaker 11: than I maybe did before that the optics of firing
- 32:46Speaker 11: in season a head coach like Bill Belichick who has
- 32:50Speaker 11: built this entire thing alongside you basically for the last
- 32:54Speaker 11: twenty five years, is like a slap in the face.
- 32:57Speaker 11: That's probably a step too far. The crafts like, you can't.
- 33:02Speaker 11: There's six Super Bowl banners hanging up, and regardless of
- 33:05Speaker 11: where you fall on the Brady Belichick thing, their percentage
- 33:08Speaker 11: of the credit goes to Bill, like, regardless of how
- 33:10Speaker 11: much percentage you feel like it does, And you can't
- 33:13Speaker 11: just fire a guy with that kind of cachet in
- 33:16Speaker 11: the middle of the season. With that being said, the
- 33:19Speaker 11: last two weeks and Sunday in particular, is a fireable offense,
- 33:23Speaker 11: Like the way that this team performed at home after
- 33:26Speaker 11: getting their doors blown off in Dallas, to come out
- 33:29Speaker 11: and get shut out on your home turf is fireable.
- 33:36Speaker 9: Any other two So a team that was beatable too,
- 33:38Speaker 9: it's like they they weren't out here scoring thirty points
- 33:41Speaker 9: every single week either, So I think that's a tough
- 33:43Speaker 9: part to it. It was the Saints, like it wasn't like
- 33:45Speaker 9: it was the Bills.
- 33:46Speaker 1: And I would look at some of the different things
- 33:48Speaker 1: that happened in those games, like you get you know,
- 33:52Speaker 1: obviously the glaring one is fourth and three from the
- 33:54Speaker 1: forty down twenty four to nothing with nine to fifty
- 33:56Speaker 1: five left in the third quarter. Like that to me
- 33:59Speaker 1: is like and I know he's like, well, we hadn't
- 34:02Speaker 1: seen anything about our ability to convert on third or
- 34:04Speaker 1: fourth down, so let's let's not try, right, Like are
- 34:08Speaker 1: you just pouting now? And that's when I get back
- 34:11Speaker 1: to my soap opera stuff, like what message does that
- 34:14Speaker 1: send to your team? Okay, the coach has decided the
- 34:17Speaker 1: game is over. Now listen, We're not stupid. We've all
- 34:19Speaker 1: watched NFL games. It was twenty four to nothing, with
- 34:22Speaker 1: ten minutes left in the third quarter, we all felt
- 34:24Speaker 1: the game was over. Okay, so I'm not telling you
- 34:27Speaker 1: that it was like the most egregious capitulation that I've
- 34:31Speaker 1: ever seen. But to do that in the game is
- 34:34Speaker 1: not normal.
- 34:35Speaker 4: No, it felt more about you guys, can't do it.
- 34:38Speaker 1: So if it's fourth and three from your own twenty five,
- 34:41Speaker 1: by all means punt the ball, but from the other
- 34:43Speaker 1: team's forty, especially where.
- 34:45Speaker 4: You're trying to get something brilliant even if you've lost
- 34:47Speaker 4: the game, Like, hey see, if I can get a
- 34:49Speaker 4: drive fourth down with a great play and we score
- 34:52Speaker 4: a really nice touchdown and we come out of this
- 34:54Speaker 4: game saying it was terrible. But man, they went for
- 34:57Speaker 4: them on that fourth down and they showed some fight there,
- 34:59Speaker 4: and you know that will be the talking.
- 35:00Speaker 1: And now you give the defense a reason to take
- 35:02Speaker 1: the field and say, hey, we just scored, let's get
- 35:04Speaker 1: the ball back. Yeah, you know, I don't think the
- 35:07Speaker 1: defense is near the top of the problem list, right,
- 35:10Speaker 1: but they forced two turnovers all year, ye right, two takeaways?
- 35:15Speaker 4: So it was it the Gonzales pick and what was
- 35:17Speaker 4: the other one fumble?
- 35:18Speaker 1: The first Marcus Jones recovered to fumble on Jalen.
- 35:22Speaker 11: Hurs, Jabriel Peppers, your boy, how you forget that?
- 35:26Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 35:26Speaker 11: But I think that's that's the point, is like if
- 35:30Speaker 11: you could point to you know, you're you're coming through
- 35:33Speaker 11: this this tape, and if you could say, oh, like
- 35:36Speaker 11: this was they did this consistently well, or they did
- 35:39Speaker 11: that good, or they did what like a drive at
- 35:41Speaker 11: the end of the game. It's garbage time, it doesn't matter,
- 35:43Speaker 11: but at least you could look at that drive and say, hey,
- 35:46Speaker 11: they strung like six seven plays consecutively together, and these
- 35:49Speaker 11: are the plays and this is what they can do well,
- 35:51Speaker 11: and this is what they're you know, leaning on here
- 35:53Speaker 11: and in this game you just there's just there's none
- 35:56Speaker 11: of that.
- 35:56Speaker 1: There's really Remember when the Patriots had a couple of
- 36:00Speaker 1: garbage time wins to close the twenty eighteen season that
- 36:03Speaker 1: no one thought meant anything and turned out to be
- 36:05Speaker 1: their new identity into the postseason, right, Yea, you know,
- 36:09Speaker 1: they found out that they could do some things with
- 36:11Speaker 1: Sony Michelle and they kind of wrote that now, I
- 36:14Speaker 1: obviously they don't do any of it without Brady because
- 36:17Speaker 1: we all know how the game's unfolded. But that was
- 36:20Speaker 1: how they played, they started to lean a little bit more,
- 36:23Speaker 1: and that's it. I don't know the answer to the
- 36:25Speaker 1: question what they do well, but to me, I think
- 36:28Speaker 1: the number one priority has to be to try to
- 36:30Speaker 1: figure out anyway, some way, somehow to get Remondo Stan.
- 36:34Speaker 2: I'd like to hope that, you know, there is that
- 36:37Speaker 2: type of you know, change that can happen like in eighteen.
- 36:41Speaker 2: But I just don't see the horses. No.
- 36:44Speaker 1: And I'm not talking about like you're thirteen and fortes.
- 36:48Speaker 2: I'm not even saying I'm just.
- 36:49Speaker 1: Talking about what I would do on Sunday is I
- 36:51Speaker 1: would probably say, like maybe even like let's just take
- 36:55Speaker 1: Pharaoh Brown and just line them up and forget three
- 36:57Speaker 1: tight ends, line them up at full back and run power,
- 37:01Speaker 1: you know, like some power. I don't know if it
- 37:03Speaker 1: would work. I'm not telling you that's the like the panas,
- 37:06Speaker 1: just but something to take the pressure off of the quarterback.
- 37:10Speaker 11: I think they are going to try to do some
- 37:11Speaker 11: of those things, like you know, the Kendrick Bourne play
- 37:14Speaker 11: action pass that game twenty eight yards in the second
- 37:16Speaker 11: half is like a seven man protect like max protect.
- 37:19Speaker 11: Let's keep all the tight ends in and let's just
- 37:21Speaker 11: hold the forour it and it's a two man route
- 37:23Speaker 11: combination running the ball out of like full back alignments
- 37:27Speaker 11: or heavy personnel groupings and just essentially simplifying it all
- 37:31Speaker 11: the way down.
- 37:32Speaker 2: And that works at times. I remember, you know, going
- 37:34Speaker 2: back with Bloodstoe, when the old line would would be
- 37:37Speaker 2: beat up, they'd leave that extra guy in and they
- 37:40Speaker 2: do match protect and they'd have a semblance of an offense.
- 37:43Speaker 2: They'd figure it out.
- 37:44Speaker 4: It just gives you less to kind of work with
- 37:46Speaker 4: on the outside. But it just gives you less to
- 37:50Speaker 4: kind of fake out and work with, and you know,
- 37:52Speaker 4: less options for mackets. Kind of like it's all on
- 37:54Speaker 4: Kendrick Bourne. Now you got to get open on this one.
- 37:56Speaker 4: So it's the Raiders. You know, the Raiders were just okay.
- 38:00Speaker 4: I mean they're not good defensively period, but they're just
- 38:02Speaker 4: okay stopping the run. I thought the Packers had some success.
- 38:06Speaker 1: Last night, just playing boring power football early on with
- 38:09Speaker 1: AJ Dillon, and I thought they had some drives. Now
- 38:13Speaker 1: they kept making mistakes. It was those two teams last
- 38:16Speaker 1: night I thought looked close to being pretty good. But
- 38:20Speaker 1: you see why they're kind of middling because they keep
- 38:22Speaker 1: making mistakes.
- 38:25Speaker 4: Oh, boy, oh boy.
- 38:27Speaker 9: Yeah, that's it's like if they let the Raiders go
- 38:30Speaker 9: out and score thirty.
- 38:32Speaker 4: Oh jeez, oh no, no, no, no.
- 38:34Speaker 3: The Raiders aren't going to score thirty unless you buy
- 38:37Speaker 3: the Raiders.
- 38:37Speaker 1: Yeah, unless you score some for them.
- 38:39Speaker 4: But it just Jacobe Miners is probably gonna throw a touchdown.
- 38:41Speaker 3: Yeah, let him try.
- 38:44Speaker 1: Uh, just so you know, they were really intent on
- 38:47Speaker 1: a trick play.
- 38:48Speaker 4: Last week, couple.
- 38:49Speaker 1: I saw that I had a pitch to Jacobs that
- 38:51Speaker 1: he was going to throw it back to Jimmy, and
- 38:53Speaker 1: I think it was Russeull Douglas decision. Yes, there's a
- 38:57Speaker 1: good play by Jacobs not to throw it back, And
- 38:59Speaker 1: then they had a flee flick or later that Josh.
- 39:03Speaker 3: Loves the flickers, the flickers.
- 39:07Speaker 1: They call, he will throw some. I mean he's I
- 39:09Speaker 1: think he's leading the league and picks, right, Jimmy.
- 39:11Speaker 3: G Yeah, threw a bad one. I actually thought it
- 39:14Speaker 3: was a bad one yesterday.
- 39:15Speaker 11: The one last night I thought was more on Jacoby
- 39:18Speaker 11: not to like not pointing fingers that.
- 39:21Speaker 4: They made the right decision.
- 39:23Speaker 1: We haven't thrown any picks with Juju's fault.
- 39:26Speaker 11: Yeah, but yeah, I felt like he drifted a little
- 39:31Speaker 11: bit on the route and but.
- 39:33Speaker 4: That's a Kobe thing. It's it's I mean, it's gonna
- 39:34Speaker 4: fester this week. But like just the I mean it's
- 39:38Speaker 4: it's it's funny the guys like me and Evan and
- 39:41Speaker 4: you know, Brian Hines, it that's pulpit, you know, like
- 39:43Speaker 4: all these like you know, all right, all right, like
- 39:45Speaker 4: all of us who are like, no, no, I see it,
- 39:47Speaker 4: they're gonna swit like all of us to a tea
- 39:49Speaker 4: are just like what were we thinking? And now it's
- 39:52Speaker 4: it's almost like this this one, this this personnel decision
- 39:56Speaker 4: is really one that I think is hanging around Bill, right,
- 39:59Speaker 4: and we all we we.
- 40:00Speaker 2: Had a guy who we drafted who was doing well,
- 40:03Speaker 2: and we complained, why can't we develop wide receivers? Well,
- 40:07Speaker 2: we were in the process of that.
- 40:08Speaker 1: Yeah, right, we can all agree that I was outside
- 40:10Speaker 1: the move, right, Yeah, oh yeah, but it was that.
- 40:13Speaker 1: But but I I just thought there was no real
- 40:15Speaker 1: difference between the players, and why not stick with the
- 40:17Speaker 1: guy as Fred said that you developed and I had
- 40:19Speaker 1: a relationship with Mac. It wasn't like, oh, no, Myers
- 40:22Speaker 1: is way better than No. I didn't think that. I
- 40:25Speaker 1: thought they were kind of the same guy. Yeah, they're not.
- 40:27Speaker 4: They're definitely not. And I mean it was staring you
- 40:29Speaker 4: right there in the face, and you know, I just
- 40:31Speaker 4: I still feel bad. Like you know, I never felt
- 40:34Speaker 4: it was disrespectful to Jacoby, but it just wasn't truly
- 40:37Speaker 4: valuing what he was. And I mean, and I said
- 40:39Speaker 4: it a couple of times as well, he was always
- 40:41Speaker 4: productive with whatever quarterback you put him with. He was
- 40:44Speaker 4: productive with Cam Newton.
- 40:46Speaker 1: And that is for to get in Brady's services at
- 40:50Speaker 1: the very end, that's a really good point.
- 40:51Speaker 4: And for a team that's just like we don't really
- 40:53Speaker 4: know what the quarterbacks, it's like you need those guys
- 40:56Speaker 4: who are Look, even whatever happens with Mac, we know
- 40:58Speaker 4: we can count on Jacoby. Myers was going to be
- 41:00Speaker 4: a solid two three. I know that's a negative thing
- 41:03Speaker 4: around here, but he don't even have that.
- 41:04Speaker 2: When we lost Myers, it was a double whammy. Not
- 41:06Speaker 2: only do we lose one of our best receivers, we
- 41:09Speaker 2: lost one of our best listeners and his father.
- 41:11Speaker 4: I hope he still listens just because it was our
- 41:13Speaker 4: analysis is top flight, but I mean, it's it's it's
- 41:17Speaker 4: a it's just a really really hard move to reconcile
- 41:21Speaker 4: in what this team needs. And you know, and also
- 41:23Speaker 4: just a tough sell for Bill. As you know, Jacoby
- 41:26Speaker 4: was such a model player of an undrafted I think.
- 41:29Speaker 2: His speaking out had something to do with him part
- 41:32Speaker 2: of that problem here.
- 41:33Speaker 3: Yeah, that's part of the pat.
- 41:34Speaker 9: I'm like for Mac Jones, he really needed him. So
- 41:36Speaker 9: I'm like, you would have just had to get over
- 41:37Speaker 9: that because.
- 41:38Speaker 4: I mean, this year for calling the offense like bad,
- 41:41Speaker 4: like calling out a terrible offense.
- 41:42Speaker 9: Like imagine this year Mac having him, like knowing that
- 41:45Speaker 9: he would be there, Okay, if my first reason there,
- 41:47Speaker 9: Jakobe will be there, Like that.
- 41:49Speaker 4: Would have helped them and Max how many times you
- 41:50Speaker 4: say last year like, oh, he's my best friend on
- 41:52Speaker 4: the team, Like he's my you know, I hope I'm
- 41:53Speaker 4: playing with him for a long time. I remember that
- 41:55Speaker 4: quote specifically, And you know, it's just another little thing
- 42:00Speaker 4: that didn't set Mac Johnson.
- 42:01Speaker 11: He's just so Jacoby looks so at home playing next
- 42:05Speaker 11: to DeVante Adams, Like that's like where he belongs, is
- 42:08Speaker 11: the number two to a guy like DeVante Adams. And
- 42:11Speaker 11: he's on pace for eleven hundred yards eleven hundred yards
- 42:15Speaker 11: this year and he also just looks like his body
- 42:17Speaker 11: language he like, i' mean an offense with McDaniels and DeVante.
- 42:21Speaker 4: Adams like it just it looks he looks to him.
- 42:27Speaker 2: Just looks like it looks like an NFL receiver who produces.
- 42:31Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, you know.
- 42:33Speaker 2: I noticed the same thing after that touchdown when he
- 42:36Speaker 2: went to the bench.
- 42:37Speaker 1: I noticed hemour yeah shoulder.
- 42:41Speaker 2: I noticed that.
- 42:42Speaker 9: That weirdly makes me wonder what it would be like
- 42:44Speaker 9: if Mac had Josh and Jacoby like both still.
- 42:49Speaker 11: I like stand outside Josh mcdaniels's window at the boo
- 42:52Speaker 11: box like please please come.
- 42:54Speaker 4: Home in your playbook.
- 42:55Speaker 9: But it's but he needs to bring back Jacoby like Joshua.
- 43:04Speaker 4: Love it, love it.
- 43:06Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 43:06Speaker 11: They just you know, they have a you know with
- 43:10Speaker 11: with the Raiders. It's it's a similar thing with like
- 43:13Speaker 11: the quarterback, like the like Jimmy Garoppolo is not a
- 43:16Speaker 11: gunslinger back there either. He doesn't move well like he's
- 43:19Speaker 11: not it doesn't handle pressure well, but they get him
- 43:23Speaker 11: those like intermediate inbreaking rounds in rhythm, and he just
- 43:27Speaker 11: he's able to still just stand there and make some
- 43:29Speaker 11: throws like It's just.
- 43:31Speaker 2: Garoppolo is just the perfect West Coast operator. I know
- 43:35Speaker 2: that the West Coast offense is kind of out of
- 43:37Speaker 2: vogue now, but that's what he's built for, Like quick
- 43:40Speaker 2: release in rhythm, accurate and the short to mid pass
- 43:44Speaker 2: is like he's perfect for that, you know. And when
- 43:47Speaker 2: he was at his best that short time when he
- 43:50Speaker 2: was with the Patriots in that game in Miami where
- 43:52Speaker 2: he got hurt, up to that point, it was all
- 43:54Speaker 2: quick release. I mean, I'm never he was perfect in
- 43:58Speaker 2: that game, perfect, you know.
- 44:00Speaker 9: And then do you think, like Mac Jones is lacking
- 44:03Speaker 9: that veteran that could, like how Jimmy g was out there, calm, cool,
- 44:07Speaker 9: collective the whole game, Like lacking that here, that veteran
- 44:10Speaker 9: voice to talk to him in the quarterback room and
- 44:13Speaker 9: help him through these moments like this, because I feel
- 44:15Speaker 9: like Cam Newton was here, but like it's not the same.
- 44:17Speaker 2: Well, that's supposed to be your quarterback coach, you know,
- 44:19Speaker 2: that's that should be Bill O'Brien. It's supposed to be.
- 44:24Speaker 9: But you know, just not having that like there, you.
- 44:27Speaker 2: Just wonder, like Bill O'Brien comes in in all this
- 44:31Speaker 2: expectation with him he's gonna turn the offense around, and
- 44:34Speaker 2: now you know, things aren't going good. But how's he
- 44:37Speaker 2: feeling now? He's worrying about his own future. This is
- 44:42Speaker 2: hurting my future, my reputation.
- 44:44Speaker 11: You know I was Bill O'Brien, I would be just
- 44:48Speaker 11: furious with Bill. Furious, But like he went into the season,
- 44:52Speaker 11: they don't have a right tackle, Like, they don't have
- 44:55Speaker 11: a right tackle. They don't have any receivers. They don't
- 44:58Speaker 11: have a big play receiver, and they don't have like
- 44:59Speaker 11: a go to receiver. They don't have either one of
- 45:01Speaker 11: those guys. They don't have a third down running back, Like,
- 45:04Speaker 11: can they just have somebody that what happened a time
- 45:07Speaker 11: on going like on third and two? Can we just
- 45:09Speaker 11: pick up three yards on a little like swing pass
- 45:12Speaker 11: into the flat to James White?
- 45:14Speaker 3: No, that doesn't even exist anymore.
- 45:16Speaker 2: And that was such a huge part of this offense.
- 45:18Speaker 11: Yeah, so you don't have like Bill, like you talk
- 45:21Speaker 11: about Mac like being held back by the supporting cast.
- 45:24Speaker 11: Bill O'Brien has got like two hands tied behind his
- 45:27Speaker 11: back and he's trying to make water out of wine,
- 45:29Speaker 11: I mean or whatever.
- 45:30Speaker 4: Well, it just makes me wonder if he's been watching
- 45:32Speaker 4: the slow motion car crash since he got here in
- 45:34Speaker 4: the spring and was like the draft and he saw
- 45:37Speaker 4: saw what I'm just trying to like be like calm about.
- 45:39Speaker 4: He looked at the offensive line after free agency, he
- 45:41Speaker 4: looked at the defense after the draft and said, hey,
- 45:44Speaker 4: you know, how about something Hollo something for me, you know,
- 45:46Speaker 4: And I mean it's it's it's got to be building.
- 45:48Speaker 4: It can't be got to the season. Was like all
- 45:49Speaker 4: of a sudden realized, oh god, we have no players.
- 45:52Speaker 2: We gave you city.
- 45:53Speaker 1: So that's why I brought up that fourth down play
- 45:55Speaker 1: when Evan said, you know, like this is you know,
- 45:57Speaker 1: a lot of this is Bill's baking. Like that's why
- 46:01Speaker 1: I worry about the mentality of the team, the players themselves.
- 46:05Speaker 1: You know, is everybody pulling in the same direction right
- 46:08Speaker 1: now or is there a lot of confusion? Like this
- 46:11Speaker 1: is really the offensive line he thought was what was
- 46:13Speaker 1: going to give it put us in the position to
- 46:15Speaker 1: be able to be successful. Like how does mac Jones
- 46:18Speaker 1: get a chance to succeed behind that offensive line? If
- 46:21Speaker 1: you remember Madre Stevenson, how do I get I mean,
- 46:23Speaker 1: I had a thousand yard year last year and I
- 46:26Speaker 1: wanted to take a step forward and I'm getting hit
- 46:28Speaker 1: in the backfield every other carry, you know.
- 46:31Speaker 3: So there's only carrying the ball eight times.
- 46:33Speaker 1: There's a lot of that.
- 46:35Speaker 2: Yeah, there's a lot of all right, eight five five
- 46:37Speaker 2: pass five hundred, too much, I do.
- 46:41Speaker 3: Maybe I'll ask my own.
- 46:42Speaker 2: Question a five to five paths five hundred web radio
- 46:45Speaker 2: at pitches dot com is the email address interested in
- 46:48Speaker 2: Van Jefferson?
- 46:49Speaker 1: Anyone? Sure? Evidently he's unhappy. Yeah, he didn't play much
- 46:53Speaker 1: on Sunday. I think he's looking for a change of scenery.
- 46:57Speaker 1: I don't know if I want to, I don't just
- 47:00Speaker 1: don't know. I like Van Jefferson as a player, and
- 47:03Speaker 1: I would certainly take him on this team. I just
- 47:05Speaker 1: don't know if the Patriots are in a position where
- 47:07Speaker 1: they should be at.
- 47:08Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know. Like adding guys now is not.
- 47:11Speaker 1: I'd rather go the other way.
- 47:12Speaker 2: Let's let's get what we have going, what we have
- 47:15Speaker 2: on the team.
- 47:16Speaker 1: No, I would add guys, Like, how about we trade
- 47:19Speaker 1: Kendrick Bourne to them and they give us Van Jefferson back. Yeah,
- 47:23Speaker 1: take that man, just as long as I'm not giving
- 47:26Speaker 1: up high high round draft picks. Would But yeah, I.
- 47:30Speaker 11: Just I don't know, like the high round draft picks
- 47:32Speaker 11: thing though, like you know, if you if you think
- 47:35Speaker 11: you're going to be picking in the top five and
- 47:36Speaker 11: obviously you're not trading your first round pick. But at
- 47:39Speaker 11: the same time, like they just need good players and
- 47:42Speaker 11: like to just like count on it all coming in
- 47:44Speaker 11: the draft is gonna be.
- 47:46Speaker 1: A way Van Jefferson, I don't think would go like no.
- 47:49Speaker 11: No, only like no, I'm not talking I'm more like
- 47:51Speaker 11: talking about like the Jerry Judy's of the world, like
- 47:53Speaker 11: if those guys are are truly available, but like at
- 47:56Speaker 11: the same time, I am just out on bill making
- 47:59Speaker 11: personnel to decisions at this point for this team. So
- 48:02Speaker 11: like if they're gonna like trade guy but for guys
- 48:05Speaker 11: or whatever, that is gonna mortgage the future, Like you know,
- 48:09Speaker 11: I don't want him doing that, Like you know, if
- 48:12Speaker 11: I'm crapped, I'm saying to him, like let's let's play
- 48:14Speaker 11: out the string here and let's like hope it gets better,
- 48:17Speaker 11: but we're not gonna trade our second round pick. That
- 48:21Speaker 11: might be like the thirty fifth pick in the draft
- 48:23Speaker 11: for Jerry Judy just to like have you save face.
- 48:25Speaker 3: We're not doing that to that point.
- 48:27Speaker 9: If the Patriots continue down this road just not winning
- 48:30Speaker 9: any more, games, and they're like, Okay, Bill, you can stay,
- 48:33Speaker 9: but somebody else is gonna be GM. Do you think
- 48:35Speaker 9: you do it?
- 48:36Speaker 2: No?
- 48:36Speaker 1: No, And I have no interest in that. I gotta
- 48:38Speaker 1: be honest. I think that's dysfunctional. Yeah, I don't think
- 48:41Speaker 1: that works. I heard my boys talking about that.
- 48:44Speaker 9: And they're talking about it.
- 48:46Speaker 1: Doesn't work.
- 48:47Speaker 2: And you can't have say it doesn't work at all
- 48:51Speaker 2: on any team or just because of Bill.
- 48:52Speaker 1: Because of Bill, yeah, because he's been doing it fast.
- 48:56Speaker 1: So then if and I don't want him coaching those guys.
- 48:59Speaker 9: Yeah, So then if you close the chapter with Bill,
- 49:02Speaker 9: would you want a separation that have a higher GM
- 49:05Speaker 9: and then also hire a new head coach?
- 49:06Speaker 2: I think so unless there's somebody available as a head
- 49:10Speaker 2: coach who's just really earned the right to run everything right,
- 49:14Speaker 2: I don't see who that would be though.
- 49:15Speaker 1: Yeah, my guess is it would be a tandem of
- 49:17Speaker 1: some sort. But I don't I'm not interested in only
- 49:22Speaker 1: only half of Bill. I know a lot of other
- 49:24Speaker 1: people think that's the be all end all. I don't
- 49:27Speaker 1: want Bill coaching these offensive players if you're going to
- 49:30Speaker 1: have an upgrade in talent, I don't want his mentality
- 49:32Speaker 1: seeping into it.
- 49:33Speaker 4: I mean, are we all in agreement though when I
- 49:35Speaker 4: think that we are that we do not want the
- 49:38Speaker 4: you know, once Belichick leaves, we want to put a
- 49:41Speaker 4: period on the Belichick period and not try to keep
- 49:44Speaker 4: some of the Belichick system and some of the guys
- 49:47Speaker 4: comes in.
- 49:48Speaker 1: I'm with you. I want a new fresh start.
- 49:52Speaker 9: Yeah, I actually want to start all over, like a
- 49:54Speaker 9: real story.
- 49:55Speaker 2: I don't know, like you really don't know what's going on.
- 49:58Speaker 2: But like if another person comes in and says no, no,
- 50:00Speaker 2: I want to keep this person, Like who you know,
- 50:06Speaker 2: I'll throw Steve Belichick out there?
- 50:07Speaker 1: Not interesting?
- 50:08Speaker 11: Now the only guy that I would keep from this
- 50:10Speaker 11: current staff other than like, you know, I really like Covington,
- 50:13Speaker 11: I like I like Pellegrino. If Mayo, if you want
- 50:16Speaker 11: to keep Gid Mayo is the defensive coordinator and actually
- 50:19Speaker 11: give him the title of defensive coin.
- 50:21Speaker 1: Like that, Like I want I want to cut because
- 50:25Speaker 1: I want to cut away from I think Mike is right.
- 50:27Speaker 1: I want to put a period on the Bill Belichick
- 50:30Speaker 1: period like that. That air is over and I want
- 50:32Speaker 1: to cut. Now to your point, Fred, if a guy
- 50:35Speaker 1: has a relationship with Gerd Mayo or even Bill O'Brien,
- 50:39Speaker 1: I don't know whatever. I'm not going to tell you.
- 50:41Speaker 1: I hate it, but I don't want to tie the
- 50:43Speaker 1: direct tie to Belichick. Well, plus, you don't want to
- 50:45Speaker 1: start fair, and that's not a shot at Belichick. It's
- 50:48Speaker 1: more like I just want to like sort of a
- 50:50Speaker 1: clean I know.
- 50:50Speaker 2: But you like, you hire the new guy, you're going
- 50:53Speaker 2: to trust him now, and he says, you know, i'd
- 50:55Speaker 2: like to keep something. You can't keep him like that
- 50:57Speaker 2: doesn't seem right. If he feels like this guy can
- 51:00Speaker 2: help him, yeah, give him money, thinks that can help.
- 51:02Speaker 4: But I think just by asking the question, you're already
- 51:05Speaker 4: cutting off at the pass what I'm kind of getting at.
- 51:07Speaker 4: You're giving this guy the choice to keep people. And
- 51:09Speaker 4: if he really wants to keep Steve Belichick, all right,
- 51:11Speaker 4: but I just don't want to see especially like like
- 51:14Speaker 4: the stream would be, let's put Bill up. Bill's gonna
- 51:16Speaker 4: go upstairs and he's gonna be in a football advisor role,
- 51:19Speaker 4: and then we're gonna put Girod in the head coaching seat,
- 51:21Speaker 4: and you know, Steve's gonna be the defensive I don't
- 51:24Speaker 4: think anybody wants to sign up for let's just kind
- 51:26Speaker 4: of shuffle the chairs.
- 51:27Speaker 2: Bill didn't want that in the Jets. I mean, that's
- 51:29Speaker 2: what they're gonna do with Parcels. He was gonna be
- 51:31Speaker 2: kind of advisor. When Bill says, I'm not working in
- 51:33Speaker 2: his shadow, yeah, yeah, I'm not doing that.
- 51:35Speaker 11: I don't mind, like Mayo if you want to, because
- 51:38Speaker 11: the defense still plays hard, they still play on a string.
- 51:42Speaker 11: I still think they're innovative to an extent on defense.
- 51:44Speaker 11: So like if girod Mayo, Mike Pellegrino, DeMarcus Covington, Like
- 51:48Speaker 11: if those guys stick around and and Drod's the DC,
- 51:51Speaker 11: and then you have an offensive minded head coach, like
- 51:54Speaker 11: that's that's all well and good the offensive coaching staff.
- 51:58Speaker 11: You know, some of those guys quite frankly, I would
- 52:00Speaker 11: think about moving on from right now. You know, I
- 52:04Speaker 11: don't know what Adrian Clem is really doing with that group.
- 52:08Speaker 6: You know.
- 52:09Speaker 11: It's one thing to just like put it all on
- 52:11Speaker 11: injuries and say, oh, well, you know, he hasn't had
- 52:14Speaker 11: like the best talent, and he's had all these guys
- 52:16Speaker 11: injury guys aren't getting better like that he's had.
- 52:19Speaker 2: But my only point is we don't know who the
- 52:21Speaker 2: next Dante's Garnecia could be on this staff. I mean,
- 52:24Speaker 2: Dante Scarneci has survived many many regimes because I each
- 52:29Speaker 2: once saw the value in him.
- 52:31Speaker 1: I get that's fair, get point. I would rather have
- 52:34Speaker 1: it not be a tie to Belichick. That's all I'm saying.
- 52:36Speaker 1: I just wish, like for their sake, not like again,
- 52:39Speaker 1: not a shot at Bill. I know, Bill's greatness I
- 52:42Speaker 1: think goes you know, I don't think we have to
- 52:44Speaker 1: spell it his resume.
- 52:44Speaker 4: But and I think too well, we've all seen that
- 52:47Speaker 4: when head coaches come from here and try to take
- 52:49Speaker 4: that and be that somewhere else, that it just it
- 52:51Speaker 4: doesn't work. Like let him, he did it, it was him. Now,
- 52:54Speaker 4: let's have a new kind of regime here. And you know,
- 52:56Speaker 4: if there's some leftovers, that's fine. But I just think
- 52:59Speaker 4: I think i'd be curious if there are people out
- 53:02Speaker 4: there that, you know, are like what, we have to
- 53:03Speaker 4: maintain some kind of you know, connection to that.
- 53:05Speaker 2: I don't know, you don't need that, you don't have
- 53:07Speaker 2: to have it. I'm just saying, yeah, let's let's let's
- 53:10Speaker 2: let the guy know.
- 53:11Speaker 4: And you don't want, Yeah, you don't want to throw
- 53:13Speaker 4: the baby out with the bathwater. To your point, if
- 53:16Speaker 4: you know, DeMarcus Covington is you know, one of the
- 53:18Speaker 4: hottest up and coming coaches in the league, and everybody's
- 53:20Speaker 4: aware of that, and you know, I don't think anyone
- 53:22Speaker 4: would say that, you know that the defensive line has
- 53:24Speaker 4: been a disaster, So I yeah, I get what you're saying.
- 53:28Speaker 11: I just wish that when they had hired O'Brien. You know,
- 53:30Speaker 11: they they hired a new offensive line coach because they
- 53:33Speaker 11: fired the last like Patricia was one and the same,
- 53:36Speaker 11: so they had an opening there and then they let
- 53:38Speaker 11: him bring the tight ends coach will will lie. But
- 53:41Speaker 11: other than that, you know, the offensive staff is the
- 53:43Speaker 11: same as it was last year, And like what would
- 53:46Speaker 11: have happened with these receivers As much as you can
- 53:49Speaker 11: talk about the talent, if like Keenan McCardell was in
- 53:52Speaker 11: that spot instead of Troy Brown or Sean Jefferson was
- 53:55Speaker 11: in that spot, you know what, like would would that
- 53:57Speaker 11: group be better? Like would that group be different? Like
- 54:00Speaker 11: I think it's more about like being different than it
- 54:02Speaker 11: is necessarily even being better. It's just a different coach,
- 54:05Speaker 11: a different voice, a different perspective, Like that's that room
- 54:10Speaker 11: has been bad now under Troy Brown for multiple seasons,
- 54:14Speaker 11: and like, we just keep on spinning the wheels with it.
- 54:16Speaker 11: And I just wish that they had hired from out
- 54:19Speaker 11: of house to replace wide receiver cover.
- 54:21Speaker 1: You remember Evan brings those two names up specifically because
- 54:25Speaker 1: they interviewed. Yeah, you know, way back when the whole
- 54:28Speaker 1: press press release about changes will be made, and Bill
- 54:31Speaker 1: O'Brien had yet to sort of officially shake free and
- 54:35Speaker 1: all that. I think they talked to both of those guys, right, yep.
- 54:38Speaker 2: All right, let's turn it to the listeners. Eight five
- 54:40Speaker 2: to five pass five hundred is the a sticket Hut line.
- 54:43Speaker 2: We'll start with Todd, North Carolina. What's up, Todd?
- 54:47Speaker 12: You know, I listened on ESPN and the guy was Green.
- 54:50Speaker 12: He said that, you know, if anybody has the cachet
- 54:52Speaker 12: to let Bill go in the middle of the year,
- 54:54Speaker 12: it's Robert Kraft. He said, I've met him a lot
- 54:56Speaker 12: of times, you talked to him.
- 54:57Speaker 13: He's just got the gravitas.
- 54:59Speaker 14: He could do it.
- 55:00Speaker 13: So you guys are talking about that earlier.
- 55:02Speaker 12: So I think if that anybody could release still in
- 55:04Speaker 12: the middle of season, mister Kraft, he could, but.
- 55:07Speaker 4: He will not.
- 55:07Speaker 1: Or Jerry Jones or like fifteen other owners.
- 55:11Speaker 2: Yeah, he will not do that, and I don't think
- 55:13Speaker 2: he should.
- 55:13Speaker 12: One point right now is do we want to fix
- 55:15Speaker 12: this season and then perpetuate this cycle that we're in
- 55:18Speaker 12: where we get a Midland draft pick up there so
- 55:21Speaker 12: we got lucky with this one.
- 55:22Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, you're being optimistic about getting a Midland
- 55:25Speaker 1: draft pick, but we want to do that. Yeah, it's
- 55:27Speaker 1: a good question, Todd. Todd's point is a good one,
- 55:29Speaker 1: And this is where I think Evan was sort of
- 55:32Speaker 1: touching on when he doesn't deserve to be fired based
- 55:37Speaker 1: on his resume in the middle of the season. But
- 55:40Speaker 1: I could understand if you make that determination because you're
- 55:43Speaker 1: worried that A, he's going to do things that aren't
- 55:49Speaker 1: necessarily in the best long term for the team, and
- 55:53Speaker 1: B he's such a good coach that he is going
- 55:58Speaker 1: to figure some of these things out and you're gonna
- 56:00Speaker 1: win a couple of games that you maybe don't want to,
- 56:03Speaker 1: you know what I mean, doubt I know. The more
- 56:07Speaker 1: important part for me is the first part, Like I
- 56:10Speaker 1: don't want him trading a second round pick to you
- 56:12Speaker 1: a point, Mike for Van Jefferson, because well, that might
- 56:17Speaker 1: help me win more games and I can get closer
- 56:19Speaker 1: to the record. That's not like and I understand like
- 56:21Speaker 1: how is winning games and not in the best interestview team.
- 56:24Speaker 1: That's an example like giving away assets potentially for a
- 56:29Speaker 1: short term game that's not really gonna be a vad And.
- 56:32Speaker 11: If the like organizations like standpoint is that we're gonna
- 56:38Speaker 11: basically quiet tank because they're not gonna ever, but they're
- 56:42Speaker 11: gonna quiet tank, that tells me that Bill is in
- 56:46Speaker 11: on the quiet tank. And so when they get that
- 56:49Speaker 11: top five draft pick next year and they draft Drake May,
- 56:53Speaker 11: who's coaching Drake May Bill Belichick.
- 56:55Speaker 3: Is and I don't I gotta be on with you.
- 57:00Speaker 11: I have not seen any signs based off of how
- 57:03Speaker 11: he's handled Mac Jones and how he's handled building the
- 57:05Speaker 11: offense up around Mac Jones that wants me to give
- 57:08Speaker 11: Bill another try at another first round quarterback.
- 57:12Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, but you have to find something you know,
- 57:17Speaker 2: you know, as Bill famously said about Tom Brady based
- 57:20Speaker 2: on his age in his contract, you want whoever you
- 57:24Speaker 2: if you're bringing in a top flight quarterback, you want
- 57:27Speaker 2: him to be the future of your team, but also
- 57:30Speaker 2: you want him to work with a head coach, who's
- 57:32Speaker 2: the future of your team? And if Bill's going to
- 57:35Speaker 2: be here for two or three more years, what are
- 57:36Speaker 2: we doing.
- 57:37Speaker 1: That's an easy spin, you know, for Robert Kraft and
- 57:40Speaker 1: Jonathan Craft to say we needed to to start over,
- 57:44Speaker 1: we needed a new quarterback, and we wanted to make
- 57:47Speaker 1: it as easy for that new quarterback to know he's
- 57:50Speaker 1: going to have the same head coach.
- 57:52Speaker 11: That's why it also has to be, in my opinion,
- 57:54Speaker 11: it needs to be an offensive guy. Yeah, because then
- 57:57Speaker 11: otherwise you're going to run the situation with McDaniels where
- 57:59Speaker 11: the court is gonna leave after one year and leave
- 58:01Speaker 11: you high and.
- 58:02Speaker 4: Showed it yesterday they were talking the same thing.
- 58:04Speaker 11: And it's just I don't want Bill developing the next quarterback.
- 58:07Speaker 11: I don't want him building the roster in around the
- 58:09Speaker 11: next quarterback.
- 58:10Speaker 1: He's more angry about it that I don't think he's
- 58:13Speaker 1: wrong to be able to slap him in the face.
- 58:16Speaker 2: I am.
- 58:18Speaker 11: I am way like it's inside. It is a lot
- 58:21Speaker 11: more than even when I'm letting on right now.
- 58:25Speaker 3: I am just.
- 58:28Speaker 4: Your happy play seven.
- 58:29Speaker 1: This is supposed to be my happy place. You're bad,
- 58:32Speaker 1: Like you know, we talked. Someone asked me after the
- 58:34Speaker 1: Dallas game. You know, is this rock bottom? And I said, no,
- 58:37Speaker 1: Like I I've been a Patriots fan my whole life.
- 58:40Speaker 1: I've seen rock bottom.
- 58:41Speaker 2: I mean, this two game stretch might have been the
- 58:43Speaker 2: worst two game stretch, but the team, it can't get worse.
- 58:46Speaker 2: And I mean like ugly stories getting out to the press.
- 58:49Speaker 1: No, but I'm just talking about in general, Like you
- 58:51Speaker 1: can lose every week. I've seen it. I went through
- 58:54Speaker 1: a one in fifteen season.
- 58:55Speaker 4: Sure, that's that's where I went fred when I saw
- 58:57Speaker 4: the Henry report. You know, all the substance of it aside.
- 59:00Speaker 4: But but this is what happens when teams get bad
- 59:03Speaker 4: and the start and that's part.
- 59:05Speaker 2: Of the come to Jesus meeting. Assuming it happens. You
- 59:09Speaker 2: got to nip that stuff in the butt, you know, Like,
- 59:12Speaker 2: but we need to be loyal to each other. We
- 59:15Speaker 2: need to be we need to be able to trust
- 59:17Speaker 2: each other, you know.
- 59:18Speaker 1: In terms of the rock bottom stuff, though, there there
- 59:21Speaker 1: are some things out there. So we have a meeting
- 59:23Speaker 1: every Tuesday. And Evan joked around to like, so what
- 59:26Speaker 1: do we you know Caleb Williams, Do you guys know
- 59:30Speaker 1: what Caleb Williams is talking about like as a possibility
- 59:33Speaker 1: of him not going in the draft because he's gonna
- 59:36Speaker 1: he's gonna make more money, is an I l money
- 59:39Speaker 1: than he will as a room in LA. So he
- 59:41Speaker 1: has to select few teams that he'd be willing to
- 59:43Speaker 1: be drafted by, and the Patriots ain't one of them.
- 59:46Speaker 1: You want to talk about rock bottom, Get the number
- 59:49Speaker 1: one overall pick and have the guy not to clear
- 59:50Speaker 1: for the.
- 59:51Speaker 2: Draft or demand to trade.
- 59:54Speaker 1: Now, I would I would just say wait, I would
- 59:58Speaker 1: just say, you know, I'll believe it when I see
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: it with Caleb Williams. But that's the story that's out
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: there right now is he has a small handful of
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: teams that he'd agree to enter the draft if they
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: were in that position, and the Patriots aren't on it.
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: So you think it's rock bottom when you lose back
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: to back games, try to get them any number one pick,
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: being in position to get this guy who you think
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: can help you finally get over Tom Brady and he
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: doesn't want to play for you.
- 1:00:24Speaker 2: Yeah. Do you know that the Patriots drafted fran Tarkenton. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: and he went to the NFL instead of the AFO. Yeah,
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: one of those guys.
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: Yeah, Yeah, I was.
- 1:00:35Speaker 4: I was doing the Mailbay today and just you know,
- 1:00:37Speaker 4: putting it on paper for You've had the worst playoff
- 1:00:41Speaker 4: loss in team history, You've had the worst loss of
- 1:00:44Speaker 4: Belichick's tenure, and then you had the worst home shutout
- 1:00:47Speaker 4: loss of team history. Like it isn't rock bottom yet,
- 1:00:50Speaker 4: but it's like how many more negative superlatives can we
- 1:00:54Speaker 4: continue to stack this season?
- 1:00:56Speaker 9: Yeah, that's what I was saying about the Raiders. I'm like,
- 1:00:58Speaker 9: this team hasn't scored over twenty points, but like what
- 1:01:00Speaker 9: if they do on Sunday?
- 1:01:01Speaker 4: And like, I mean, it's just it's just the volume
- 1:01:04Speaker 4: that's really starting to catch up with it all. It's
- 1:01:06Speaker 4: how that game ended, It's letting Jacobe Myers go, it's
- 1:01:09Speaker 4: drafting Cole Strange. It's just there's been how many moves
- 1:01:12Speaker 4: have been made outside of drafting Christian Gonzalez who kind
- 1:01:15Speaker 4: of fell into your lap have worked out? Like what
- 1:01:17Speaker 4: moves have worked out? Like nothing they really did last
- 1:01:20Speaker 4: offseason is paid off unless Riley Reef steps in and
- 1:01:23Speaker 4: suddenly becomes, you know, the second coming of Logan Man.
- 1:01:25Speaker 11: Do you want to find like a small sliver of
- 1:01:28Speaker 11: bright spot? Like he was pretty solid in that game
- 1:01:31Speaker 11: all things Yeah, right, Riley Reef, I thought was probably
- 1:01:34Speaker 11: their best offensive lineman in the game, besides maybe David Andrews.
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: But see it's all coming together.
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: Let's go to Donnie and Pittsburgh. Hey Donnie, hey.
- 1:01:46Speaker 13: All, thanks for taking the cume again. I think when
- 1:01:48Speaker 13: we talked last week, like a lot of the fan
- 1:01:49Speaker 13: base that was in a pretty negative place ended up
- 1:01:51Speaker 13: talking over Evan and Paul that saw. Apologies for that.
- 1:01:54Speaker 13: But somehow this week, maybe with this news of Taekwon Thornton,
- 1:01:57Speaker 13: I am feeling more positive and with these changes on
- 1:02:00Speaker 13: the offense, and I really agree with what Evan's saying
- 1:02:03Speaker 13: when he talks about Andrew's you know, interview and the
- 1:02:05Speaker 13: body language of Henry. They need to do something over there,
- 1:02:09Speaker 13: hopefully it involves the kids. And I just wanted to
- 1:02:11Speaker 13: back up what Paul said in the post game. Your
- 1:02:13Speaker 13: comment was something along the lines of it's hard to
- 1:02:16Speaker 13: play defense this way, you know, and we're grading these
- 1:02:18Speaker 13: guys under a microscope when the starting cornerbacks are out.
- 1:02:22Speaker 13: But continuing my trend as the offensive drive guy, the
- 1:02:25Speaker 13: Saints had twelve offensive drives that weren't kneel downs, and
- 1:02:28Speaker 13: we forced punts on seven of them. One of those
- 1:02:30Speaker 13: punts started at our own forty yard line. Every scoring
- 1:02:33Speaker 13: drive started at the New Orleans thirty eight or better,
- 1:02:36Speaker 13: or came off a turnover.
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: You know, so even the field's that's that's a very
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: optimistic to look at that. Yeah, there was nothing good
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: about that game than they's had over two hundred yards
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: in the first half. Like that's an offense that doesn't
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: move the ball, moved it that will in the first half.
- 1:02:53Speaker 2: Do another call? Paul's foods here and then we'll take
- 1:02:55Speaker 2: a break. To me, such a bad Graham's in New Jersey.
- 1:02:58Speaker 2: What's up? Graham?
- 1:03:00Speaker 4: Not this again?
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: And we only have sixty yard drives because we can hear.
- 1:03:05Speaker 2: You, Graham, even though Paul continuing to talk.
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: About John alumni but Toby Myers stuff.
- 1:03:16Speaker 15: Really, I just don't see why you want.
- 1:03:22Speaker 2: Yeah, we'll get tough connection. Maybe call back after the break.
- 1:03:26Speaker 2: It seems like every third call we have is a
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: bad I think it's us.
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: I think.
- 1:03:31Speaker 2: It's line three, and can we skip line three and
- 1:03:34Speaker 2: send them to line four? No, we don't, we can't
- 1:03:38Speaker 2: do that.
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: And they call me in as they come in.
- 1:03:41Speaker 2: Oh, so we only have three lines that's.
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: Why people always get busy singles when they call us.
- 1:03:46Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, all right, anyway, we'll take a break, Graham.
- 1:03:51Speaker 2: Maybe you want to call back after the break. Well,
- 1:03:54Speaker 2: if we called back now, it'll have to be on
- 1:03:56Speaker 2: line three because the other two wants to take it,
- 1:03:57Speaker 2: So Graham's in a tough spot. We'll be right back
- 1:04:00Speaker 2: after this.

- 1:04:48Speaker 8: your faces with the highlight montage, trust me, it was
- 1:04:51Speaker 8: not good this week. Let's listen to Mac Jones on
- 1:04:53Speaker 8: Patriots Monday on Wei.
- 1:04:56Speaker 17: We've talked to you now the last few weeks. The
- 1:04:59Speaker 17: record has not gone in the direction you guys want.
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: You're one and four.
- 1:05:03Speaker 17: The points have gone in the wrong direction, from twenty
- 1:05:05Speaker 17: to seventeen to fifteen to three to now zero yesterday.
- 1:05:09Speaker 17: You've told us before it's going to get better.
- 1:05:10Speaker 4: It has not.
- 1:05:11Speaker 17: You said you're going to watch tape, and I'm sure
- 1:05:14Speaker 17: you guys are, but that hasn't seemed to help either.
- 1:05:16Speaker 17: Why should we and fans believe that things are going
- 1:05:19Speaker 17: to get better?
- 1:05:22Speaker 6: Yeah, I think the biggest thing is, you know, just
- 1:05:25Speaker 6: try and figure out the root cause to each of
- 1:05:27Speaker 6: the issues. And that's playing better as the team, playing
- 1:05:30Speaker 6: better for me as a quarterback. And we just didn't
- 1:05:33Speaker 6: have the answers to the test yesterday. And you just
- 1:05:36Speaker 6: got to move forward in this league, that's what it is.
- 1:05:39Speaker 6: You can't look back. You got to move forward. And
- 1:05:42Speaker 6: I'm not happy with anything nobody is, and it starts
- 1:05:45Speaker 6: with me as the quarterback.
- 1:05:47Speaker 18: So Mack, you you say there that you didn't have
- 1:05:50Speaker 18: the answers to the test, and I believe in your
- 1:05:53Speaker 18: appearance with the media after yesterday's game at the podium,
- 1:05:56Speaker 18: at one point you said something about not being ready
- 1:05:59Speaker 18: to go, feeling like you're not ready. Is that an
- 1:06:03Speaker 18: answer about the game plan going into these games?
- 1:06:10Speaker 6: I think for us, like I always say, every game
- 1:06:12Speaker 6: is different, and as a quarterback of the offense, I
- 1:06:15Speaker 6: want to go out there and score on the opening
- 1:06:17Speaker 6: drive and it's frustrating when that doesn't happen. And like
- 1:06:20Speaker 6: I said, you just want to find the root cause
- 1:06:23Speaker 6: to why it's not happening, and then from there you
- 1:06:25Speaker 6: have to problem solve I'm and figure out, hey, what
- 1:06:27Speaker 6: can we do better? What can I do better? Obviously
- 1:06:30Speaker 6: it's been a trend for a few years around here
- 1:06:33Speaker 6: and just has to be an improvement and that'll really
- 1:06:37Speaker 6: help us get off the better start in the games.
- 1:06:40Speaker 7: Mac yesterday and then again today, Bill said that it's
- 1:06:43Speaker 7: time to start over, that the plan was to sort
- 1:06:45Speaker 7: of start over. Do you think it's time to start
- 1:06:48Speaker 7: over for you personally? Do you think that starting over
- 1:06:50Speaker 7: this season is something that's even feasible after five weeks
- 1:06:54Speaker 7: and everything in the preseason, all that leading up. What
- 1:06:56Speaker 7: does that sort of mean to you and how do
- 1:06:58Speaker 7: you plan to do that?
- 1:07:01Speaker 6: Yeah, I think I think the biggest thing is being
- 1:07:03Speaker 6: all in together. And obviously it's not looking great right now,
- 1:07:07Speaker 6: and we got to really look in the mirror and
- 1:07:09Speaker 6: figure out how we can respond to adversity. And I
- 1:07:12Speaker 6: think we have the potential and talent to do that,
- 1:07:15Speaker 6: and obviously we have to go out there and do it.
- 1:07:18Speaker 6: So it's hard when everything's they're not going great, But
- 1:07:21Speaker 6: at the end of the day, we have a lot
- 1:07:22Speaker 6: of football have to play, and I know there's a
- 1:07:24Speaker 6: lot of fight in the team and in my teammates.
- 1:07:27Speaker 7: Have you ever been on a team before that sort
- 1:07:29Speaker 7: of had like a reset like this early on in
- 1:07:30Speaker 7: the season.
- 1:07:34Speaker 6: I mean, that's a great question. I think everyone you
- 1:07:36Speaker 6: know has played sports for a long time and they'd
- 1:07:39Speaker 6: be lying if they said every year was perfect, right.
- 1:07:41Speaker 6: So I think that's the important part is understanding that
- 1:07:45Speaker 6: Sporce brings a lot of adversity and as a team
- 1:07:48Speaker 6: you have to be all in together and challenge and
- 1:07:51Speaker 6: face the challenge excuse me, And that's going to be
- 1:07:54Speaker 6: a very big part for us. It has been the
- 1:07:57Speaker 6: last couple of weeks and we you know, have to
- 1:07:59Speaker 6: do better and I have to do better, and it's
- 1:08:01Speaker 6: going to start with practice.
- 1:08:03Speaker 18: Along those lines going back to high school, before high
- 1:08:07Speaker 18: school youth sports. Is this the most challenging stretch for
- 1:08:11Speaker 18: you as a quarterback that you can remember?
- 1:08:16Speaker 6: Yeah, I think for everybody, Like I said, sports has
- 1:08:19Speaker 6: a lot of adversity, there are a lot of emotion
- 1:08:22Speaker 6: around everything. And for me, it's about what's my situation
- 1:08:26Speaker 6: right now and how can I get better and how
- 1:08:28Speaker 6: can I help the team win? And that's just by
- 1:08:31Speaker 6: being me and going to work every day, working hard
- 1:08:34Speaker 6: and bringing guys with me. And I can do a
- 1:08:36Speaker 6: much better job of that in terms of just being
- 1:08:38Speaker 6: me and bringing guys along. So you have to fight.
- 1:08:42Speaker 6: There's no time to feel sorry, and we do have
- 1:08:45Speaker 6: to reset and come up with a game plan and
- 1:08:47Speaker 6: attack it.
- 1:08:48Speaker 17: We're talking to Patriots quarterback Mac Jones here on a
- 1:08:50Speaker 17: Patriots Monday on w E I. I asked you this
- 1:08:53Speaker 17: last week, Mac, after you were benched against Dallas, benched
- 1:08:56Speaker 17: again yesterday, have you been told you're the starter?
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: This week.
- 1:09:01Speaker 6: Well, we were off today, so obviously I'm going to
- 1:09:05Speaker 6: focus on, you know, watching all the tape I can,
- 1:09:07Speaker 6: and I'm really just looking forward to trying to come
- 1:09:10Speaker 6: up with a game plan of what I can do better.
- 1:09:12Speaker 6: And that's what I do every week, and I have
- 1:09:14Speaker 6: done that every week since I've been in the NFL.
- 1:09:16Speaker 6: So I know that there's a we haven't done great
- 1:09:19Speaker 6: on offense, and there's a lot of uncertainty surroundings everything.
- 1:09:22Speaker 6: But at the end of the day, I got to
- 1:09:24Speaker 6: go out there and focus on what I can control.
- 1:09:27Speaker 17: Do you think you deserve to be the starter? Since
- 1:09:28Speaker 17: you haven't heard yet, do you think you deserve to
- 1:09:30Speaker 17: be the starter?
- 1:09:32Speaker 6: I think the biggest thing, like I said, it's focusing
- 1:09:36Speaker 6: on how do I get better? Right? What are the
- 1:09:39Speaker 6: issues here? What have I done in the games that
- 1:09:42Speaker 6: hasn't put in in a great spot? And how can
- 1:09:44Speaker 6: I do better? And that's what you focus on, right.
- 1:09:46Speaker 6: You have to get back to one play at a time,
- 1:09:49Speaker 6: focusing on what's your job? You know, how can you
- 1:09:52Speaker 6: do it really well to help the team. And I
- 1:09:54Speaker 6: think that's for everybody. And of course I'm going to
- 1:09:57Speaker 6: try and be the same guy and be me and
- 1:09:59Speaker 6: bring guys along with me. So that's very important and
- 1:10:02Speaker 6: I know that I can do it, and I just
- 1:10:04Speaker 6: have to go out there and bring the guys with me.
- 1:10:06Speaker 17: There was a report last week from the NFL Network
- 1:10:08Speaker 17: pregame actually about last week that Bailey z Appy got
- 1:10:12Speaker 17: increased reps during the week. Were your reps affected in
- 1:10:16Speaker 17: practice in any way last week?
- 1:10:20Speaker 6: Every week's different. I think the biggest thing for me
- 1:10:23Speaker 6: is take advantage of what you can and what you have.
- 1:10:26Speaker 6: And at the end of the day, I've gotten a
- 1:10:28Speaker 6: lot of practice reps with a lot of these guys
- 1:10:30Speaker 6: and feel really comfortable with different guys, and we just
- 1:10:34Speaker 6: had to continue to work, whether it's the walkthroughs, practice,
- 1:10:38Speaker 6: extra meetings, all that stuff. So we've been doing that.
- 1:10:41Speaker 6: Just like I said, we didn't have the answers for
- 1:10:44Speaker 6: the test here, and we just got to find ways
- 1:10:46Speaker 6: to put a better product out there.
- 1:10:48Speaker 18: Mac, looking at some of the stats from yesterday, your
- 1:10:52Speaker 18: time to throw right now about two point six seconds
- 1:10:55Speaker 18: on average from yesterday. How are you feeling about your
- 1:10:58Speaker 18: ability to process and get the ball to who you
- 1:11:02Speaker 18: need to be hind the offensive line right now?
- 1:11:07Speaker 6: Yeah, Like I said, we're just trying to figure out, hey,
- 1:11:11Speaker 6: what's the root cause some of this stuff and how
- 1:11:14Speaker 6: can we put more points up? And really it it
- 1:11:17Speaker 6: starts with running the ball, and we can do it.
- 1:11:19Speaker 6: And we have a good offensive line. They're fighting up there,
- 1:11:23Speaker 6: doing a good job. It's just we got to establish
- 1:11:25Speaker 6: the run and all that stuff. But yeah, it's got
- 1:11:29Speaker 6: to improve. From my standpoint, how can I get the
- 1:11:31Speaker 6: ball to the open guy. That's what I'm going to
- 1:11:34Speaker 6: focus on, and we got to look at it on
- 1:11:36Speaker 6: tape and figure out wys that we can do better.
- 1:11:39Speaker 2: Mac.
- 1:11:39Speaker 7: There was a report yesterday from Henry McKenna at Fox Sports,
- 1:11:43Speaker 7: and it was not a quote from you, but it's
- 1:11:44Speaker 7: got a source close to you. I had a quote about,
- 1:11:47Speaker 7: no matter how good of a cook you are, you
- 1:11:49Speaker 7: cannot make garbage taste good. Again, this wasn't something that
- 1:11:52Speaker 7: was attributed to you, but I wanted to give you
- 1:11:54Speaker 7: a chance to sort of respond to that since people
- 1:11:56Speaker 7: are going to sort of talk about it a lot
- 1:11:58Speaker 7: here and it's been something that your name is attached to.
- 1:12:02Speaker 6: Yeah, I didn't see that. I'll do social media, but yeah,
- 1:12:07Speaker 6: I try to stay off and eliminate the noise, and
- 1:12:10Speaker 6: I disagree with that. I think we have a really
- 1:12:13Speaker 6: talented group of guys that I've been fortunate to work
- 1:12:15Speaker 6: with this whole lost season and through the season. Some
- 1:12:18Speaker 6: guys for three or four years, and I've been been
- 1:12:22Speaker 6: a part of a great organization. So I definitely disagree
- 1:12:25Speaker 6: with that, and I didn't hear that or see that.
- 1:12:28Speaker 6: Like I said, I'd never try to focus on the
- 1:12:30Speaker 6: outside noise.
- 1:12:32Speaker 17: I know you're frustrated and the team's frustrated. What about
- 1:12:36Speaker 17: people in your personal life? You know, family friends, like
- 1:12:39Speaker 17: are they are they frustrated with the situation.
- 1:12:44Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:12:44Speaker 6: I've never come on here in the media and talked
- 1:12:47Speaker 6: about my personal life. So I think the biggest thing
- 1:12:51Speaker 6: is everyone's in this together, like I said, and we
- 1:12:54Speaker 6: have the right people to do it. It's it's football, right,
- 1:12:57Speaker 6: That's that's what you want to do. You want to
- 1:12:58Speaker 6: bring your team together, and that's what I'm going to
- 1:13:01Speaker 6: focus on in terms of my football life.
- 1:13:03Speaker 18: I believe it was Hunter Henry yesterday who after the game,
- 1:13:06Speaker 18: Max said that mood in the locker room just it
- 1:13:09Speaker 18: wasn't great. Understandably, two back to back tough losses. You
- 1:13:13Speaker 18: talk about turning the page and putting this behind you,
- 1:13:16Speaker 18: is that becoming more challenging now? And who do you
- 1:13:20Speaker 18: guys look to in the locker room to try to
- 1:13:23Speaker 18: figure out where to start on just burying these two weeks.
- 1:13:29Speaker 6: I think just learning from it, and it's always a
- 1:13:32Speaker 6: learning experience whether you win or lose. And at the
- 1:13:35Speaker 6: end of the day, you got to move forward. Like
- 1:13:36Speaker 6: I always say, every week, some new week, and you
- 1:13:39Speaker 6: know tomorrow we'll get more information on how we're going
- 1:13:42Speaker 6: to do it. And I believe it comes from everybody
- 1:13:45Speaker 6: that coaches players, and we all can do a better job,
- 1:13:48Speaker 6: and it starts with the leaders of the team and
- 1:13:51Speaker 6: you know, the captains and everybody. So we definitely have
- 1:13:54Speaker 6: a big challenge on our hands, and I'm going to
- 1:13:56Speaker 6: take the positive route, like I said, the past couple
- 1:13:58Speaker 6: of weeks and trying ways to win football games.
- 1:14:01Speaker 7: I wanted to ask you Mac about Bill O'Brien. I
- 1:14:04Speaker 7: saw you guys talking on the bench a couple of
- 1:14:05Speaker 7: times during the game yesterday. What we're sort of those
- 1:14:08Speaker 7: conversations Like, I know you're not going to tell us
- 1:14:09Speaker 7: exactly what you said, Well, what was kind of the
- 1:14:11Speaker 7: tenor of those conversations and do you feel like there's
- 1:14:14Speaker 7: still a good relationship there.
- 1:14:17Speaker 6: Yeah, Obi has done a great job this year, just
- 1:14:22Speaker 6: trying to talk through some things on the sideline, and
- 1:14:24Speaker 6: like I said, we just it was a rough day
- 1:14:26Speaker 6: on the farm and didn't really have a lot of
- 1:14:28Speaker 6: answers for the test and that's something that we're trying
- 1:14:31Speaker 6: to improve and how can I do that better as
- 1:14:33Speaker 6: a quarterback. So we're definitely communicating and everybody's trying to
- 1:14:38Speaker 6: work hard to work together.
- 1:14:39Speaker 17: Did you agree with the decision to punt on fourth
- 1:14:41Speaker 17: and three down twenty four to nothing early in the
- 1:14:43Speaker 17: third quarter.
- 1:14:47Speaker 6: I mean, I don't really comment on things things like that,
- 1:14:50Speaker 6: I think, I mean, we shouldn't be in that position,
- 1:14:52Speaker 6: so it's hard to say, right, you want to be
- 1:14:54Speaker 6: in a competitive game, so yeah, I won't. I don't
- 1:14:58Speaker 6: comment on those things.
- 1:14:59Speaker 17: Do you like Do you like going for I mean,
- 1:15:01Speaker 17: I'm sure you'd want the ball in your hands on
- 1:15:03Speaker 17: fourth down and the ability to go for it though, Right,
- 1:15:05Speaker 17: I've heard a lot of quarterbacks say that.
- 1:15:08Speaker 6: I think the big thing for any quarterback and the
- 1:15:11Speaker 6: included is we're all very competitive, right, But there's so
- 1:15:14Speaker 6: much that goes into the game management and things like that,
- 1:15:18Speaker 6: and and that's really the head coaching job.
- 1:15:27Speaker 19: When someone accidentally threw away the school play costumes, no
- 1:15:32Speaker 19: replacements were shipped with FedEx and with picture proof of delivery,
- 1:15:36Speaker 19: everyone could focus on the perfect opening night FedEx where
- 1:15:39Speaker 19: now it's next for residential delivery.
- 1:15:42Speaker 3: Only and now great moments in.
- 1:15:48Speaker 1: History they had.
- 1:15:49Speaker 4: She had one where she was talking smack about Drew
- 1:15:51Speaker 4: blood cell So thats.
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: Whoa, oh now it's on.
- 1:15:57Speaker 3: Now it's it's definitely a thing.
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: No, but all I saw, I mean I saw like
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: Meghan had like one hundred screams, but they had just won. Like,
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: what is she supposed to do? Not go to the
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: library face face?
- 1:16:13Speaker 2: Just shuting Freud.
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: I just wanted to I'm sorry, what was that work?
- 1:16:16Speaker 2: Shading as I said, shoden Freud.
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: He went over to he said in two different ways.
- 1:16:24Speaker 4: Neither one of them was correct, shotting fucking all right,
- 1:16:28Speaker 4: all right.
- 1:16:29Speaker 5: That's another great moment from.
- 1:16:33Speaker 2: All right back here on Patriots Unfiltered eight five five
- 1:16:36Speaker 2: past five hundred is the Ace ticket Hutline web radio
- 1:16:39Speaker 2: at Patriots dot com. Bridge Stone is the official tire
- 1:16:42Speaker 2: of the New England Patriots, and Bridgestone tires are now
- 1:16:44Speaker 2: on sale. Oh this is old copy. The sale is over,
- 1:16:49Speaker 2: but visit Sullivans Tire dot com for Bridgetone tires and
- 1:16:55Speaker 2: to find a location near you.
- 1:16:58Speaker 4: So and maybe that'll be another step.
- 1:17:00Speaker 2: Wait here comes Matt Morele. We have new copy just
- 1:17:03Speaker 2: in just then we'll get that in post. Yeah, bridge
- 1:17:06Speaker 2: Stone is the it's the same copy. It's the same thing.
- 1:17:12Speaker 2: Oh my god. The sales over. But go to sullivantire
- 1:17:17Speaker 2: dot com for Bridgetone tires. They're good tires. I just
- 1:17:21Speaker 2: want to let people know. I see the emails. I
- 1:17:24Speaker 2: know a lot of them are saying the same thing.
- 1:17:27Speaker 2: They want to change. So I'm not going to read
- 1:17:30Speaker 2: them all because they're all the same. But I'm you know,
- 1:17:33Speaker 2: but what change? They want to kill? Bill mac or Bill.
- 1:17:38Speaker 2: But I'm not going to get into everyone because they're
- 1:17:39Speaker 2: all the same. And but I hear you, it's not
- 1:17:43Speaker 2: like I'm ignoring you. Yeah. So I just want to
- 1:17:47Speaker 2: get that out there because there's a ton of them,
- 1:17:49Speaker 2: I mean a ton, so trying to find ones that
- 1:17:54Speaker 2: are a little bit different, you.
- 1:17:55Speaker 4: Know, write something a little different.
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: Yeah, somebody, But let's get to the phones.
- 1:17:59Speaker 2: We'll get to Tim in Boston. What's up, Tim, Tim?
- 1:18:07Speaker 2: In Boston.
- 1:18:08Speaker 4: Yea hate Tim all right, Yeah.
- 1:18:10Speaker 14: So I just feel like I got tricked into feeling
- 1:18:13Speaker 14: optimistic this offseason, and you know, now I get this
- 1:18:15Speaker 14: feeling of how could we be so stupid? Like of
- 1:18:18Speaker 14: course the online was going to be a disaster with
- 1:18:20Speaker 14: the group, like the receivers won't be enough, MAC can't
- 1:18:22Speaker 14: elevate them. Like, do you guys feel that, like in retrospect,
- 1:18:25Speaker 14: was there ever anything to actually be optimistic about or
- 1:18:28Speaker 14: it should be a Stement's company.
- 1:18:29Speaker 4: Well, I think in our defense last year was such
- 1:18:32Speaker 4: a terrible offensive, you know, offense period, like how it
- 1:18:37Speaker 4: was put together. I think we were all kind of
- 1:18:39Speaker 4: blinded by just how inept it was, and we didn't
- 1:18:41Speaker 4: you know, and maybe that blinded us a little bit
- 1:18:43Speaker 4: to other issues that were also on the team. But
- 1:18:45Speaker 4: I think we were all kind of aware of what
- 1:18:47Speaker 4: was happening. I think we just all kind of assumed
- 1:18:49Speaker 4: that Bill O'Brien, we'll wave his wanted to make it better.
- 1:18:51Speaker 2: Listen, they were what eight to nine last year, right, Yeah,
- 1:18:55Speaker 2: and the offense wasn't good, but we thought pretty much
- 1:18:59Speaker 2: the same cast the characters built. You know, Bill O'Brien
- 1:19:02Speaker 2: comes in, Yes, the schedule is going to be a
- 1:19:04Speaker 2: little tougher, but we'd see an improvement in the offense.
- 1:19:08Speaker 1: I don't think.
- 1:19:09Speaker 2: I didn't think going in this season that the record
- 1:19:11Speaker 2: would be that much better, you know. I thought, you know,
- 1:19:14Speaker 2: maybe you could muster ten wins, But that was highly optimistic.
- 1:19:18Speaker 2: I thought we'd be you know, nine and eight eight
- 1:19:20Speaker 2: nine again, but we'd see a better offense, something to
- 1:19:23Speaker 2: build on going forward. And we're not even seeing that.
- 1:19:26Speaker 2: That's the problem, you know. So I was optimistic to
- 1:19:30Speaker 2: that degree, and I'm losing that optimism.
- 1:19:33Speaker 11: I think the offensive line in particular, as much as
- 1:19:37Speaker 11: I have gotten on them about the Cold Strange pick,
- 1:19:40Speaker 11: you're just thinking a vacuum Cold Strangers in year two
- 1:19:42Speaker 11: is going to be a better player Mike and went
- 1:19:45Speaker 11: who were just getting hurt and then really being ineffective.
- 1:19:48Speaker 11: That's something that you didn't anticipate coming in. So for me,
- 1:19:52Speaker 11: the offensive line play in general, and just how bad
- 1:19:55Speaker 11: it really has been. I figured they'd have to work
- 1:19:57Speaker 11: around a bad right tackle. We knew that coming into
- 1:20:00Speaker 11: the year. But I thought the other four spots would
- 1:20:02Speaker 11: be steady, would be solid. They have multiple spots that
- 1:20:06Speaker 11: are are falling apart. On the offensive line, and so
- 1:20:08Speaker 11: I think that that's like where, you know, other than
- 1:20:11Speaker 11: the Juju Jacobi thing, like that's like the biggest I
- 1:20:14Speaker 11: guess misstep.
- 1:20:15Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: Yeah. My fear was that just by changing coordinators, I
- 1:20:20Speaker 1: thought it would it would be better too. I mean,
- 1:20:22Speaker 1: but that was really the only improvement they made. They
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: didn't really improve the personnel. And I worried about it
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: because in general, Mike Paul worries about everything.
- 1:20:31Speaker 2: Paul and I like.
- 1:20:32Speaker 9: How you you brought up a few times where you said,
- 1:20:34Speaker 9: you know, if you look at last year stats and
- 1:20:36Speaker 9: this year's stats, people are going to be upset because
- 1:20:38Speaker 9: they're not much different.
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: They're worse.
- 1:20:41Speaker 2: They're getting worse games.
- 1:20:44Speaker 4: But bottom, yeah, bottom.
- 1:20:46Speaker 2: Thanks Thanks Tim. Let's go to Andre in Atlanta. What's up? Andre? Good?
- 1:20:54Speaker 2: And uh, kind of you're a little muffled. Maybe you
- 1:20:57Speaker 2: want to change your angle?
- 1:21:01Speaker 20: Yeah, listen. So I was listening to the podcast off
- 1:21:05Speaker 20: the Picts on Friday, and it was me and my
- 1:21:09Speaker 20: wife and she's a saint and so you know, we're
- 1:21:15Speaker 20: listening to it and everything and picked.
- 1:21:17Speaker 6: And all that.
- 1:21:18Speaker 20: Now, I was very optimistic. Now after the game we
- 1:21:22Speaker 20: brought the back home, I was pick and everything. Of
- 1:21:24Speaker 20: course she was happy and I said something to Way
- 1:21:28Speaker 20: and then she was all like, my ask taste and
- 1:21:34Speaker 20: you know from from Fred, from how.
- 1:21:37Speaker 9: You said, what was going on?
- 1:21:42Speaker 4: His wife said, how does my ask?
- 1:21:45Speaker 8: Yeah, I'm definitely on Andres and no that is I.
- 1:21:49Speaker 2: Don't know what happened.
- 1:21:49Speaker 4: Then his wife the phone to that story.
- 1:21:53Speaker 11: I don't think that that was going in any in
- 1:21:55Speaker 11: any more directions.
- 1:21:56Speaker 2: We need to go Christians in l a I And
- 1:22:00Speaker 2: he says, the line still sounds bad. What's up, Christian?
- 1:22:03Speaker 10: Yeah, hey, guys, the line, Yeah, the line sounds really bad.
- 1:22:06Speaker 10: I don't know if it's from my our side, on your.
- 1:22:07Speaker 2: Side, probably our side. Everything's bad right now. Yeah, but
- 1:22:13Speaker 2: go ahead make your point. Let's just do it.
- 1:22:15Speaker 10: Yeah, yeah, really quickly. From the fans perspective, I wanted
- 1:22:18Speaker 10: to say that I've been at the end of the team,
- 1:22:21Speaker 10: a diehard banded team since nineteen seventy nine. It means
- 1:22:24Speaker 10: I've been through the bad times.
- 1:22:26Speaker 2: I've also been going to make your point to the
- 1:22:28Speaker 2: good time.
- 1:22:29Speaker 10: You know a lot of us who are just fanned.
- 1:22:32Speaker 10: We give our blood, sweats here and money to the
- 1:22:35Speaker 10: team and to the whole program. And when the product
- 1:22:38Speaker 10: gets to a point where tanking would be an upgrade
- 1:22:41Speaker 10: for us. I believe mister Crap has a responsibility to
- 1:22:46Speaker 10: the people that are just you know, we're not millionaires.
- 1:22:47Speaker 10: We're just guys getting by, just trying to make it
- 1:22:49Speaker 10: through the week and the hope that having a good
- 1:22:52Speaker 10: team gives you. I know, you can make fun of it,
- 1:22:56Speaker 10: but it's incalculable. Normal guys, When you get to a
- 1:22:59Speaker 10: point for tank it would be an upgrade. It feels
- 1:23:02Speaker 10: like we have to make a move.
- 1:23:04Speaker 2: Yep, okay, thank you. The line was just really bad. Yeah,
- 1:23:08Speaker 2: but yes, when you get to the point where you
- 1:23:13Speaker 2: think you have to tank, you're you're in the cellar.
- 1:23:17Speaker 2: That's when teams make moves, you know, I get it.
- 1:23:20Speaker 4: I mean it was, yeah, it was when they were
- 1:23:24Speaker 4: bad in the nineties. Though it was you never like
- 1:23:25Speaker 4: had a reason to get excited before that, so it
- 1:23:28Speaker 4: was just kind of like you just kind of accepted it.
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: Yeah, that's what makes this a little bit.
- 1:23:31Speaker 2: Hey, Matt, before I forget, put put a ticket into
- 1:23:34Speaker 2: help desk about these lines. That's ridiculous.
- 1:23:37Speaker 11: It's a to me, it's just it's a quiet tank,
- 1:23:40Speaker 11: Like you got a quiet tank I'm not telling them
- 1:23:43Speaker 11: to like go out there and not try, like nobody's
- 1:23:44Speaker 11: saying that, but adding to this team and like taking
- 1:23:48Speaker 11: resources away from the future to add to the team.
- 1:23:50Speaker 11: I just don't really see where that gets you. And
- 1:23:53Speaker 11: I also just think if you are moving on from
- 1:23:56Speaker 11: Bill at the end of the year, it's probably a
- 1:23:58Speaker 11: more attractive job or the GM and the coach coming in.
- 1:24:02Speaker 11: If you basically just have a clean slate, you know,
- 1:24:04Speaker 11: clean books, your whole like lotman of draft picks and
- 1:24:08Speaker 11: you're just kind of starting over from scratch. That's definitely
- 1:24:11Speaker 11: easier to do than have to you know, work the
- 1:24:15Speaker 11: cap and do all the time.
- 1:24:16Speaker 4: I mean we've mentioned that before though, you know with
- 1:24:17Speaker 4: with just there's a lot of turnover coming on the
- 1:24:19Speaker 4: offensive line. No tight ends are under contract, you know,
- 1:24:22Speaker 4: there's I mean you have basically one running back under
- 1:24:25Speaker 4: contract issue. So there's a lot of opportunity between the
- 1:24:27Speaker 4: cap space the money you could you know theoretically have
- 1:24:30Speaker 4: to spend that. You know, someone could really come in
- 1:24:31Speaker 4: here and probably you know, put their stamp on.
- 1:24:33Speaker 2: Yeah. Spiin Fresno writes in at web Radio at pictures
- 1:24:36Speaker 2: dot com. There are a lot of mysterious unanswered questions
- 1:24:39Speaker 2: in Patriots history, the Butler Benching, the Jimmy g situation,
- 1:24:43Speaker 2: Tom Bill, Robert dynamics, toward the end, Stork's wetness problem,
- 1:24:47Speaker 2: what a journeyman is. And now it's clear we're gonna
- 1:24:50Speaker 2: be saddled with yet another mystery. Whether Ma's downfall was
- 1:24:53Speaker 2: a Mac thing or a Bill thing. The answer truly
- 1:24:56Speaker 2: is both. Even if you've generally tended to point at
- 1:24:59Speaker 2: Mac as I have, you have to acknowledge that the
- 1:25:01Speaker 2: situation has set him up to play this miserably. He's
- 1:25:04Speaker 2: gone the way of Derek Carr, and it's genuinely sad.
- 1:25:08Speaker 2: I think he's probably meant that it's ridiculously unfair and
- 1:25:11Speaker 2: unsafe and stupid to put a middling Ish quarterback in
- 1:25:15Speaker 2: a middling ish situation together. They're less than the sum
- 1:25:19Speaker 2: of their parts. I fart and Bill's general direction, I
- 1:25:23Speaker 2: just I don't know. That's a Monty Python thing.
- 1:25:26Speaker 3: Very interesting.
- 1:25:27Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a quote from Monty pith yea.
- 1:25:29Speaker 4: Anyway, it's it's it's tough when you look at through
- 1:25:31Speaker 4: perspective too, that like a lot of their you know,
- 1:25:33Speaker 4: receivers and weapons are kind of cast off from other
- 1:25:36Speaker 4: teams like Parker Miami's willing to trade him in the division,
- 1:25:40Speaker 4: Kasicki couldn't find a role. You know, Juju was almost
- 1:25:44Speaker 4: out of the league. You know, bourn was like the
- 1:25:47Speaker 4: fourth option in San Francisco. You know, they're just there's nothing,
- 1:25:50Speaker 4: There's nobody out there that they really are kind of
- 1:25:53Speaker 4: teams clamoring for them or you know.
- 1:25:55Speaker 9: It's everybody's leftovers like piled.
- 1:25:57Speaker 4: On one team, except for you know, the guys you
- 1:25:59Speaker 4: drafted like Remandre that you know you thought were good
- 1:26:01Speaker 4: and you know, just haven't really been able to get
- 1:26:03Speaker 4: going there.
- 1:26:03Speaker 11: I just feel like the overall like talent evaluation of
- 1:26:07Speaker 11: the skill players, specifically on offense. You did take a
- 1:26:12Speaker 11: receiver in the second round last year, and maybe Taekwon
- 1:26:15Speaker 11: Thornton is going to come back and he's going to
- 1:26:17Speaker 11: be a better player than he was as a rookie.
- 1:26:19Speaker 11: But it didn't look so hot as a rookie. Granted
- 1:26:21Speaker 11: in an offense that we all agree was a mess,
- 1:26:24Speaker 11: but you could have had a lot of good receivers
- 1:26:27Speaker 11: last year in the draft that would have been better
- 1:26:29Speaker 11: players than him. You can talk about like evaluating Juju,
- 1:26:32Speaker 11: evaluating Gasiki, like those guys on a pro level, Like
- 1:26:36Speaker 11: did you really think that those guys were going to
- 1:26:38Speaker 11: move the needle? Like I don't think all of us
- 1:26:40Speaker 11: felt the same of like, Okay, well it's kind of
- 1:26:43Speaker 11: the same talent level and there's really still no number one.
- 1:26:46Speaker 11: There's really no game changer or coverage tilter in this
- 1:26:49Speaker 11: offense still, and that's basically what it's been. And I
- 1:26:53Speaker 11: just I wonder is that fixable? Like is it fixable
- 1:26:57Speaker 11: to improve the evaluation of offensive talent?
- 1:27:01Speaker 9: Yeah, I think it's fixable if the person in charge
- 1:27:05Speaker 9: is willing to listen to the people who scout these
- 1:27:07Speaker 9: people like I'm wondering, like Mac Grolan, then.
- 1:27:10Speaker 11: So you think Mac, But like you like who was TI,
- 1:27:12Speaker 11: Like Taekwon Thornton was not a bill pick I like
- 1:27:15Speaker 11: Taekwon Thornton is one hundred and seventy five pounds soaking wet,
- 1:27:19Speaker 11: like the priorities for the Patriots in the passing game.
- 1:27:22Speaker 11: Julian Edelman was on with Colin Coward yesterday and he said,
- 1:27:25Speaker 11: get open, catch the ball, and run block so he
- 1:27:28Speaker 11: doesn't check probably one of their biggest boxes.
- 1:27:31Speaker 9: I'm still concerned that I don't think it's the scouting department.
- 1:27:34Speaker 9: I think it's Bill.
- 1:27:35Speaker 11: I just I don't see Bill. I don't see like
- 1:27:38Speaker 11: nikkil Harry, I could see that being all Bill Taekwon Thornton.
- 1:27:42Speaker 11: I don't see how his profile like projects to what Bill.
- 1:27:45Speaker 2: When Macro says, if you want a faster team, draft
- 1:27:48Speaker 2: fast players, you know, and that's what.
- 1:27:50Speaker 4: They did, they did.
- 1:27:52Speaker 2: Well.
- 1:27:52Speaker 9: If that's the case, then if it was a mistake
- 1:27:54Speaker 9: on the scouting team, then you might need to start
- 1:27:56Speaker 9: fresh there too.
- 1:27:56Speaker 1: When you well, I don't think there's any question you
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: said it, but at it. But the part with Bill like,
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: to me, it's less about the evaluation is it is
- 1:28:05Speaker 1: how he wants to play. And I have that stuck
- 1:28:07Speaker 1: in my head and until someone proves it differently, I
- 1:28:10Speaker 1: think he wants to play seventeen thirteen games, leaning on
- 1:28:13Speaker 1: defense and special teams and running the ball and not Yeah,
- 1:28:16Speaker 1: I don't think he respects the way the game is
- 1:28:18Speaker 1: played now. I don't think he thinks that's real football. Yeah,
- 1:28:22Speaker 1: and he doesn't want to win that way.
- 1:28:24Speaker 2: You've heard, you've heard railing against the win, railing against
- 1:28:28Speaker 2: the forward pass.
- 1:28:29Speaker 1: Not so much the forward passes that the Madden like,
- 1:28:32Speaker 1: but seven like, you know, like why like you got
- 1:28:37Speaker 1: because he was on an few.
- 1:28:39Speaker 9: Tour, but would you be excited about where the NFL
- 1:28:43Speaker 9: is right now? Like Jalen Hurts is fun to watch.
- 1:28:45Speaker 9: Mahomes is fun to watch these dual their quarterbacks are
- 1:28:47Speaker 9: so fun.
- 1:28:48Speaker 2: They're also immensely fun to watch.
- 1:28:50Speaker 4: Is San Francisco? I mean, I just like enjoy watching
- 1:28:53Speaker 4: San Francisco because it's so those.
- 1:28:55Speaker 1: Two linebackers scare me.
- 1:28:57Speaker 4: They're awesome. I mean, and they just create to the
- 1:29:00Speaker 4: top of the five weapons where it's like we you
- 1:29:02Speaker 4: can do so much? Did you cover everybody else in
- 1:29:04Speaker 4: ok out there? But it's it doesn't have to be
- 1:29:07Speaker 4: like a big you know, it's not just one guy.
- 1:29:09Speaker 4: It's like they just the way they've built their team,
- 1:29:11Speaker 4: it's it's it's they're the model franchise right now. And
- 1:29:13Speaker 4: I don't know, you know, I was laughing at the
- 1:29:15Speaker 4: other right though, I was singing there going, oh man,
- 1:29:17Speaker 4: Kyle Shannon's Lucky Brock party came around, so we can
- 1:29:19Speaker 4: make Kyle Shanahan.
- 1:29:20Speaker 2: And I love I love that they're getting Deebo back
- 1:29:22Speaker 2: into the running game a little bit. I love that
- 1:29:25Speaker 2: so many problems.
- 1:29:25Speaker 9: To deal with it's insane to think, like, hey, they
- 1:29:28Speaker 9: almost had mac Jones. But I'm wondering if Mac Jones
- 1:29:30Speaker 9: in that same spot would look the same.
- 1:29:33Speaker 3: As Brock Perdy.
- 1:29:34Speaker 2: I think I don't think so.
- 1:29:35Speaker 3: I think it'd be close.
- 1:29:36Speaker 2: I think he'd be better, but not as good. I
- 1:29:38Speaker 2: think Purdy might be a diamond in the rough. I think.
- 1:29:42Speaker 2: I mean, look at his record, it's undeniable. But I
- 1:29:44Speaker 2: think long term we could be talking about a Hall
- 1:29:47Speaker 2: of Famer.
- 1:29:48Speaker 3: But how much.
- 1:29:49Speaker 11: Really the problem is, like their stats offensively are the
- 1:29:52Speaker 11: same as they were with Jimmy G.
- 1:29:53Speaker 2: But what does he do wrong?
- 1:29:55Speaker 1: Is that?
- 1:29:56Speaker 6: Right?
- 1:29:57Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 1:29:57Speaker 1: Because it doesn't seem like this was the kind of
- 1:29:59Speaker 1: offense they had and Jimmy G was winning out the game.
- 1:30:01Speaker 11: Yeah, I mean they're like in terms of like efficiency,
- 1:30:04Speaker 11: it's like marginally better with with Brock perty.
- 1:30:09Speaker 2: Okay, but I don't see it now.
- 1:30:11Speaker 1: I'll also say that Jimmy didn't have McCaffrey, right, you know,
- 1:30:15Speaker 1: But like it seems to me like they just score
- 1:30:17Speaker 1: the first three times they have the ball every game, yep. Yeah,
- 1:30:20Speaker 1: and he never turns it over. Never, Jimmy always turned
- 1:30:23Speaker 1: it over, like even at his.
- 1:30:24Speaker 2: Best, like he is mister efficiency, Like, but you're telling
- 1:30:29Speaker 2: me he isn't.
- 1:30:30Speaker 11: No, I'm telling you he's one of the most efficient
- 1:30:32Speaker 11: quarterbacks in the league. And so is Jimmy in that offense.
- 1:30:34Speaker 11: And that's just the like the offense is incredible, like
- 1:30:38Speaker 11: they they not you know, every single button, a box
- 1:30:43Speaker 11: to check, like offensive line receivers, scheme, like they they
- 1:30:46Speaker 11: have it all. They have literally everything that you could
- 1:30:49Speaker 11: possibly want. They have so many good receivers that they
- 1:30:51Speaker 11: can't even get them all in the field.
- 1:30:52Speaker 2: But for a guy to just come in the league
- 1:30:54Speaker 2: like he did, I mean, you know, Jimmy had three
- 1:30:56Speaker 2: four years to just watch. He just came in and
- 1:30:59Speaker 2: just started from the get go. I don't know, he
- 1:31:03Speaker 2: might have that special thing.
- 1:31:04Speaker 1: It's just it's just.
- 1:31:05Speaker 4: Such an interesting contrast after spending you know, so many
- 1:31:08Speaker 4: arguments of Bill and Tom and who got the credit
- 1:31:10Speaker 4: and all that, and you know, and you have to
- 1:31:12Speaker 4: respect what Perty's doing, but it also just illustrates like
- 1:31:15Speaker 4: when you have a right quarterback but he's really surrounded
- 1:31:18Speaker 4: with talent that we don't even know how good Rock
- 1:31:20Speaker 4: Perty really is just because everybody.
- 1:31:21Speaker 2: Around him so good, and we don't know how good
- 1:31:24Speaker 2: Mac could be We honestly don't. We honestly don't in
- 1:31:28Speaker 2: all fairness, I on my Twitter feed, now.
- 1:31:30Speaker 9: Yeah, I feel like.
- 1:31:33Speaker 1: I feel like I know you did.
- 1:31:37Speaker 9: It's like, if Mac had, you know, his same offensive
- 1:31:40Speaker 9: black Alabama, he had DeVante Smith, he had at least
- 1:31:44Speaker 9: half of the talent that was with him at Alabama,
- 1:31:46Speaker 9: you could be good.
- 1:31:49Speaker 4: And that's just saying to himself to like, I just
- 1:31:52Speaker 4: that's defense, because I'm not convinced that if he had
- 1:31:55Speaker 4: all of that he'd be great, because I think part
- 1:31:57Speaker 4: of it is the defense, and they have played good
- 1:32:00Speaker 4: defenses in the early going.
- 1:32:01Speaker 1: That's one thing that I'll give Mac. I mean, Dallas
- 1:32:04Speaker 1: is good defensively. New Lean's is good defensively. The Jets
- 1:32:08Speaker 1: are not only good defensively, they know you inside and
- 1:32:10Speaker 1: out because they've played you so many times. Like they've
- 1:32:13Speaker 1: played against good defenses too.
- 1:32:15Speaker 11: I don't know if Mac would be this elite, top
- 1:32:19Speaker 11: five MVP caliber quarterback with all the things improved, But
- 1:32:22Speaker 11: they didn't even try to improve it for them, Like
- 1:32:25Speaker 11: they didn't even try to follow the book. And the
- 1:32:28Speaker 11: book is like so clear it's every single young quarterback
- 1:32:32Speaker 11: they're following the same script in this league, and all
- 1:32:34Speaker 11: those guys are playing well for the most part, following
- 1:32:38Speaker 11: the same script. Like you draft the quarterback and then
- 1:32:40Speaker 11: you throw every single you know, big time resource that
- 1:32:43Speaker 11: you have at the talent around them on the offense,
- 1:32:46Speaker 11: and every single quarterback that's had that luxury to hurts
- 1:32:51Speaker 11: Josh Allen, Like, you can just go down the list
- 1:32:53Speaker 11: of guys that when they load up on offense around
- 1:32:56Speaker 11: the quarterback, it has benefited all those guys, and they
- 1:32:59Speaker 11: just haven't that they've completely neglected it.
- 1:33:02Speaker 1: Just why I include the part of Brock Purty that
- 1:33:04Speaker 1: I played against his father in college.
- 1:33:05Speaker 4: Oh really, mister Purty?
- 1:33:07Speaker 2: Wow, sewn Sean Perty, that's pretty cool.
- 1:33:10Speaker 4: To strike him out, you sit him down.
- 1:33:11Speaker 1: No, he pitched for Miami against US.
- 1:33:13Speaker 2: That's pretty cool.
- 1:33:14Speaker 4: Take him, take him a long.
- 1:33:15Speaker 1: No, we lost.
- 1:33:17Speaker 2: Tyler in Providence. Belichick is a legend in the league
- 1:33:21Speaker 2: and the best coach of all time, but it's starting
- 1:33:23Speaker 2: to feel like he is quiet quitting the position as
- 1:33:26Speaker 2: head coach. His replacement planned for Brady was a washed
- 1:33:29Speaker 2: Cam Newton. His drafting since then included a mediocre guard
- 1:33:32Speaker 2: in the first round from a lower tier school, a
- 1:33:34Speaker 2: second rounder with less meat in his bones than a
- 1:33:37Speaker 2: lobster role in Multiple Kickers. He even traded down when
- 1:33:40Speaker 2: Christian Gonzalez was on the board, but had to take
- 1:33:42Speaker 2: him so it wasn't too obvious what he was doing.
- 1:33:44Speaker 2: The team also was coming out flat each week and
- 1:33:46Speaker 2: doesn't seem prepared to play. Obviously, this is a joke
- 1:33:49Speaker 2: and all great things come to an end. Eventually, the
- 1:33:52Speaker 2: team really isn't good this year, and hopefully Belichick receives
- 1:33:55Speaker 2: the respect he deserves as he retires at the end
- 1:33:58Speaker 2: of the season. Also is the most important part of
- 1:34:01Speaker 2: the email, when Fred finally goes downhill and loses his fastball.
- 1:34:05Speaker 2: Is there a succession plan in place for PU? I
- 1:34:08Speaker 2: just don't want the show to be caught with its
- 1:34:10Speaker 2: pants down and big hit coming back as our cam new.
- 1:34:13Speaker 4: Imagine like what the PU version of Juju would be, like, Oh,
- 1:34:16Speaker 4: we got this thing, we got this new guy. We're
- 1:34:17Speaker 4: swapping out Deuce, but we were upgrading.
- 1:34:20Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure on the PU version of got no Burst,
- 1:34:23Speaker 1: nothing I did.
- 1:34:25Speaker 3: I don't.
- 1:34:26Speaker 11: I know the emailer was like tongue in cheek about
- 1:34:28Speaker 11: the quiet quitting thing, but I know your shows are
- 1:34:30Speaker 11: big on this. Paul, Like is he is he putting
- 1:34:33Speaker 11: as much effort into it as he used to like
- 1:34:35Speaker 11: and I like wouldn't blame him for it, right, Like
- 1:34:38Speaker 11: he's seventy years old, But.
- 1:34:40Speaker 3: Is he is it?
- 1:34:41Speaker 11: Like is he on the the stuff that he used
- 1:34:44Speaker 11: to be on? Is he in here all day and
- 1:34:47Speaker 11: all night grinding film in Like.
- 1:34:51Speaker 4: No, I got to give credit to front of the
- 1:34:53Speaker 4: show Boston Cream who coined belichicked out, which that was
- 1:34:57Speaker 4: kind of funny.
- 1:34:59Speaker 1: Well, and I don't know the answer to that, but
- 1:35:02Speaker 1: you know, anecdotally, you look at the days off and
- 1:35:05Speaker 1: stuff during like you know, look, we don't need all
- 1:35:07Speaker 1: the ota s. Well, you know we're gonna have a
- 1:35:08Speaker 1: day off. I think some of it is is CBA
- 1:35:11Speaker 1: related that we still don't really understand all the different
- 1:35:15Speaker 1: minutia that that's involved with that. But that's what people
- 1:35:18Speaker 1: point to when they say he's not as invested as
- 1:35:20Speaker 1: he once will.
- 1:35:22Speaker 2: I think that's baloney. Okay, Alexon Conquered just want to say,
- 1:35:27Speaker 2: long time listen to the show. I'm so I'm sad
- 1:35:30Speaker 2: to hear the optimism out of Fred, who has always
- 1:35:33Speaker 2: been so high on the Patriots, no matter what I
- 1:35:35Speaker 2: think he means.
- 1:35:36Speaker 1: The lack of operation.
- 1:35:37Speaker 2: Right. However, I found something to be happy about this weekend.
- 1:35:40Speaker 2: During the game. It was about halfway through the third
- 1:35:43Speaker 2: quarter when I decided to leave and go grocery shopping
- 1:35:46Speaker 2: with my spouse. I found the Holy Grail soap with
- 1:35:49Speaker 2: a slot. I couldn't believe my eyes. A whole section
- 1:35:52Speaker 2: of different soaps and scents dedicated to saving soap. The
- 1:35:55Speaker 2: soap of the slot was conveniently located next to the
- 1:35:58Speaker 2: dog saliva handwife for when your fingers get covered in
- 1:36:02Speaker 2: buffalo sauce. So there you go, what is happening?
- 1:36:05Speaker 1: Yeah, that's great.
- 1:36:07Speaker 4: Oh man, December, we're gonna be like knee deep and
- 1:36:11Speaker 4: soap with a slot in December when it's getting bleaked.
- 1:36:13Speaker 2: I got a feeling though, we're gonna have a lot
- 1:36:15Speaker 2: of things to talk about.
- 1:36:17Speaker 11: It's hard to even like, like, you know, I joked
- 1:36:19Speaker 11: in the meeting earlier about Caleb Williams, but like it's
- 1:36:22Speaker 11: hard to even like do that path because I'm just
- 1:36:26Speaker 11: who's that Who's gonna be in charge here next year?
- 1:36:28Speaker 3: Right? And like if it's.
- 1:36:30Speaker 11: Bill again, are they just gonna like I don't even
- 1:36:32Speaker 11: know if they're going to take the quarterback in the
- 1:36:34Speaker 11: top five. Like, I don't know if they're gonna take
- 1:36:36Speaker 11: any any of these guys that I think are all
- 1:36:38Speaker 11: all have like individual talents, like Drake May I think
- 1:36:41Speaker 11: is an interesting prospect. Penix, I think is an interesting prospect.
- 1:36:45Speaker 11: But is that even what they're gonna do or are
- 1:36:47Speaker 11: they gonna draft some left tackle we've never heard of.
- 1:36:50Speaker 1: Like you're willing to go Pennicks lefty.
- 1:36:52Speaker 3: I can't do lefties.
- 1:36:53Speaker 11: I've already I've already left I've already put that out
- 1:36:56Speaker 11: there that like a bad way just can't adjust the lefties.
- 1:36:58Speaker 11: But but Penix is a gamer. I mean, that guy's
- 1:37:00Speaker 11: got to keep.
- 1:37:01Speaker 1: He's also been in college like twelve years, but he's good.
- 1:37:04Speaker 9: That would be painful if they decided to keep Mac
- 1:37:07Speaker 9: Jones and draft a left tackle that I have to
- 1:37:09Speaker 9: google Google your.
- 1:37:10Speaker 4: School, well the google your school thing, Yes, But I mean,
- 1:37:13Speaker 4: I just you can't replace the whole team next season.
- 1:37:16Speaker 4: And that's why unless you could maybe get one of
- 1:37:18Speaker 4: those top two quarterbacks, I do wonder if it's better
- 1:37:21Speaker 4: spent on a left tackle of the future and you know,
- 1:37:24Speaker 4: and finally maybe put some pieces around Mac for his
- 1:37:26Speaker 4: last year or two.
- 1:37:28Speaker 11: They're gonna if it's Bill running the ship, they they're
- 1:37:31Speaker 11: definitely gonna trade down if they have a pick that's
- 1:37:33Speaker 11: that valuable at the top of the draft, they'll trade
- 1:37:36Speaker 11: down and to get you know, seventeen picks out of it,
- 1:37:39Speaker 11: and then they'll take some left tackle or something like
- 1:37:42Speaker 11: that like that. That's so that's why, like, I'm not
- 1:37:44Speaker 11: gonna go here and be like Kayleb Williams.
- 1:37:46Speaker 3: Drake may like which one.
- 1:37:48Speaker 11: Because we're not there yet really five weeks into the season,
- 1:37:51Speaker 11: but be I just don't even know that's the path
- 1:37:53Speaker 11: that they're.
- 1:37:53Speaker 2: Like what I've seen from Will Greer, Fred Oh my gosh,
- 1:37:57Speaker 2: Steve in Nelson News. A question that needs to be
- 1:38:02Speaker 2: asked of our goat of a head coach and for
- 1:38:04Speaker 2: it to have the right impact, we need a sacrificial lamb. Now.
- 1:38:08Speaker 2: It can't be the ladies Alex or Tamara because Bill
- 1:38:11Speaker 2: is too much of an old school gent would never
- 1:38:13Speaker 2: get mad at a lady. It can't be Evan because
- 1:38:15Speaker 2: he's the next OC and Bill respects his football IQ.
- 1:38:19Speaker 2: It can't be Paul because we all know Bill has
- 1:38:22Speaker 2: a man crush on Paul. So it has to be
- 1:38:24Speaker 2: the babyface King of sneaky snark Mike. The question that
- 1:38:28Speaker 2: Mike has to pose to Bill, and please don't let
- 1:38:31Speaker 2: him off the hook, is Bill, in what ways do
- 1:38:34Speaker 2: you feel football has changed in the last twenty years
- 1:38:36Speaker 2: from an offensive point of view? Now, if delivered in
- 1:38:40Speaker 2: the right tone, our goat head coach will of course
- 1:38:42Speaker 2: read the undercurrent to the question, and Wat's lyrically about
- 1:38:45Speaker 2: how football should be played and that pounding the balls
- 1:38:48Speaker 2: the way forward. Just do your job, Mike and ask
- 1:38:50Speaker 2: that question.
- 1:38:53Speaker 4: I don't know, I'm just kind of focused on the Raiders. Yeah,
- 1:38:57Speaker 4: and there it is.
- 1:39:03Speaker 3: At first.
- 1:39:07Speaker 2: Kyle, he used to be in Korea South, but I'm
- 1:39:11Speaker 2: not sure if he's still there for anyway North now, Yeah,
- 1:39:13Speaker 2: he doesn't say, maybe he moved back. I know it's
- 1:39:16Speaker 2: still early in the season and also still early in
- 1:39:18Speaker 2: Max's career, but I'll ask anyway. This one is for
- 1:39:21Speaker 2: the grizzled Vets. Fred and Paul Fred ranked the Patriots
- 1:39:25Speaker 2: starting quarterbacks in your lifetime, and stop when you get
- 1:39:28Speaker 2: to Max Jones and Paul ranked the worst Patriots team ever,
- 1:39:31Speaker 2: and stop when you get to this one.
- 1:39:34Speaker 1: Oh, this one's not even close. Yeah, I mean I
- 1:39:37Speaker 1: might change that at the end right end of the Yeah.
- 1:39:39Speaker 1: But like the Rod rush year, to me, is can
- 1:39:43Speaker 1: I eliminate all the sixties and early seventies that I
- 1:39:46Speaker 1: was never I shouldn't, but I don't know. I started
- 1:39:50Speaker 1: basically in seventy six and they went eleven and three,
- 1:39:52Speaker 1: so I was like you, I started watching the team.
- 1:39:56Speaker 1: But the Rod Russ year was what nineteen ninety at
- 1:40:00Speaker 1: one and fifteen they had a coach mack here that
- 1:40:02Speaker 1: they went two and fourteen. Those would be my two
- 1:40:05Speaker 1: that I would start with.
- 1:40:07Speaker 4: I want no talent.
- 1:40:08Speaker 1: I mean two thousand. Belichick's two thousand team had no talent, and.
- 1:40:13Speaker 2: Then ranked the quarterbacks. I'm usually it's Brady and then
- 1:40:16Speaker 2: bled Cell that's one and two, no doubt about that.
- 1:40:19Speaker 1: Then I would probably go Grogan.
- 1:40:20Speaker 2: Wow, well, Grogan had his stint. But like if you
- 1:40:25Speaker 2: just think about it, was Easton a better QB?
- 1:40:28Speaker 1: I don't think so. No, No, I think you could
- 1:40:30Speaker 1: probably make an argument for it, but I wouldn't. I
- 1:40:32Speaker 1: would say Grogan was better. Some people think Grogan was
- 1:40:35Speaker 1: better than Bledsoe, which just wow, come on, you know
- 1:40:38Speaker 1: some people like interceptions. I don't know what to tell you.
- 1:40:42Speaker 2: Okay, it was a lot of excitement in that Mac
- 1:40:45Speaker 2: Jones or Tony Easton Mac.
- 1:40:47Speaker 1: Jones or Tony Tony Easton.
- 1:40:50Speaker 2: Okay, so we haven't got to Mac yet. You're putting
- 1:40:53Speaker 2: Grogan over Mac. Yes, okay, so Mac Castle, Mac Castle
- 1:40:57Speaker 2: over Mac.
- 1:41:00Speaker 4: Run.
- 1:41:00Speaker 2: It's only one year though, Cameron Newton, Cam Newton.
- 1:41:04Speaker 1: Would be over cam Newton.
- 1:41:05Speaker 2: Okay but not Yeah, as a patriot from friend, as
- 1:41:10Speaker 2: your patriot, you're right?
- 1:41:12Speaker 1: What about do you have?
- 1:41:15Speaker 2: What about in the in the few starts that he
- 1:41:17Speaker 2: had Scott Zolac in Mac.
- 1:41:22Speaker 1: Did Zoe play more games than just like those?
- 1:41:25Speaker 6: Like?
- 1:41:25Speaker 1: How many games did he start?
- 1:41:27Speaker 2: I think it was just like I think.
- 1:41:29Speaker 1: I got Zo like Zo b San Francisco.
- 1:41:32Speaker 2: It was a big win for Pete Carroll. I remember
- 1:41:34Speaker 2: that week. It was a huge We did the pf
- 1:41:36Speaker 2: W cover with the Z. Tell them yeah, yeah, so
- 1:41:40Speaker 2: you know Zoro would leave his mark with the Z
- 1:41:43Speaker 2: with his sword.
- 1:41:44Speaker 4: Seven starts, so he doesn't.
- 1:41:45Speaker 2: I'm sorry, I was checking the seven starts. What was
- 1:41:49Speaker 2: his record?
- 1:41:49Speaker 4: Starts for games? He threw eight touchdowns and seven interceptions,
- 1:41:57Speaker 4: doesn't say his record here.
- 1:41:59Speaker 1: Let's shoot QB. Okay, you didn't go on Pro Football.
- 1:42:02Speaker 4: I'm there now, thank you very much.
- 1:42:03Speaker 1: Three and four.
- 1:42:06Speaker 2: Who was the original quarterback for the Patriots? What's his name?
- 1:42:10Speaker 2: Perill or Mac? I have no idea, but Sonkin was
- 1:42:14Speaker 2: actually year one. I don't know. I never saw those, babe, Perilly.
- 1:42:17Speaker 3: I'm taking.
- 1:42:20Speaker 2: Yeah. So I mean it's hard max like six, maybe
- 1:42:25Speaker 2: number six as of right now.
- 1:42:28Speaker 3: I wish a real shot at it.
- 1:42:30Speaker 2: Oh, Jim Plunkett. I forgot about Jim Plunkett.
- 1:42:33Speaker 3: That's old, old career, Jim.
- 1:42:35Speaker 1: Yeah, free got drafted here.
- 1:42:39Speaker 2: Remember we traded him for a boatload of picks.
- 1:42:42Speaker 1: Jim Plunkett would be the guy that you want to
- 1:42:44Speaker 1: point to if you're Mac Jones supporter, because Jim Plunkett
- 1:42:47Speaker 1: was drafted number one overall, came in, had no protection,
- 1:42:50Speaker 1: the team was awful, ran around for his life, got killed,
- 1:42:53Speaker 1: and everybody said bust he stinks, right, and then he
- 1:42:57Speaker 1: went to the Raiders and won two Super.
- 1:42:59Speaker 9: Bowl What are the that he finds a new home.
- 1:43:02Speaker 2: Can plunk it? That's a good question, Like what is
- 1:43:07Speaker 2: what is his future in the NFL? If the Patriots
- 1:43:10Speaker 2: jettison him. I think somebody else sign him, not as
- 1:43:16Speaker 2: their starter, and it'll be up to him.
- 1:43:18Speaker 4: Yeah, Jacoby Brissette. What would you how would your stack
- 1:43:20Speaker 4: him up against? I mean, I know jacobyt was your
- 1:43:22Speaker 4: briefly better. He's gone better than.
- 1:43:24Speaker 1: Better than Jacoby Brissett. But like Baker Mayfield, Like where
- 1:43:28Speaker 1: someone who gets stuck when the music stops and they
- 1:43:32Speaker 1: don't have a chair, Yeah, Baker Mayfield and look what's
- 1:43:35Speaker 1: happening he I mean, I don't think he's good for
- 1:43:37Speaker 1: Baker too. I don't think he's played great, played well.
- 1:43:41Speaker 11: Yeah, I just wish that they had given Mac a
- 1:43:44Speaker 11: fair chance. Like maybe we ended up at this at
- 1:43:46Speaker 11: this spot regardless, but like if they had really done
- 1:43:50Speaker 11: it the right way and not saddled him with Patricia
- 1:43:54Speaker 11: and not neglected the offense from a supporting cast standpoint,
- 1:44:00Speaker 11: and had done the Miami plan, I had done the
- 1:44:02Speaker 11: Philly plan, like it just had done it the right way,
- 1:44:05Speaker 11: Like what would it have looked like. I'm not saying
- 1:44:08Speaker 11: it would have looked better. I'm not saying any like,
- 1:44:10Speaker 11: I'm not judging that. I'm just saying that from a
- 1:44:13Speaker 11: fan's perspective. I just I wish we had seen that
- 1:44:16Speaker 11: version of this movie, because then it would.
- 1:44:18Speaker 9: Have been just like up to him and there would
- 1:44:20Speaker 9: have been no excuses to be like.
- 1:44:22Speaker 1: Oh, there was a great argument with General Olofski and
- 1:44:26Speaker 1: Rex Ryan yesterday about that. You know, Orlowski said, you
- 1:44:32Speaker 1: don't think that if if you just if you put
- 1:44:34Speaker 1: mac Jones in for Brock party, it will look exactly
- 1:44:36Speaker 1: the same. And I thought Rex Ryan was going to
- 1:44:38Speaker 1: fall off his chair. Right, It's like, are you serious?
- 1:44:42Speaker 2: And they were like that now and Rex Ryan goes correct,
- 1:44:46Speaker 2: when he was a rookie, he said he was a piece.
- 1:44:47Speaker 2: He had a peace shooter for an arm when he
- 1:44:49Speaker 2: was a rookie. And they're like, yeah, you know, you're right,
- 1:44:51Speaker 2: you did say that. You did say that, Yeah, Mike,
- 1:44:54Speaker 2: And Duval says Fred, I respect your football knowledge, you're
- 1:44:58Speaker 2: with your insight, but from working in the organization for
- 1:45:01Speaker 2: as long as you have, you really are an ascid
- 1:45:03Speaker 2: But please recuse yourself from the following question. I think
- 1:45:09Speaker 2: you're too close to the forest to see from through
- 1:45:11Speaker 2: the trees everyone else. You don't know from the trees
- 1:45:14Speaker 2: everyone else. Is it fair to say that Bill is
- 1:45:16Speaker 2: perhaps one of, if not the greatest defensive mind slash
- 1:45:19Speaker 2: defensive coach in the league has ever seen, But maybe
- 1:45:22Speaker 2: just maybe the notion that he is the goat coach?
- 1:45:25Speaker 2: Is a bridge too far. When he and Tom were together,
- 1:45:28Speaker 2: they were considered the greatest to ever do it at
- 1:45:30Speaker 2: their respective positions. When Tom left, his greatness was still
- 1:45:34Speaker 2: very much on display. It has been four years since then,
- 1:45:37Speaker 2: has bills? If the answer is no, If he is
- 1:45:40Speaker 2: really the goat coach, shouldn't there have been at least
- 1:45:43Speaker 2: a monicum of his greatness as a head coach without
- 1:45:45Speaker 2: the other goat? Sure, so shouldn't there You know, I
- 1:45:50Speaker 2: get what he's saying.
- 1:45:51Speaker 4: You get what he's saying, But I just also think,
- 1:45:53Speaker 4: like why does the last five years have to be
- 1:45:55Speaker 4: a reflection on the previous thirty years? You know, like
- 1:45:58Speaker 4: is it possible that some bad decisions were made? And
- 1:46:02Speaker 4: you know this isn't you know? All along he's been
- 1:46:05Speaker 4: actually just a terrible coach and you know he just
- 1:46:07Speaker 4: like and I also just like why do we have
- 1:46:10Speaker 4: to rank coaches? Like how what what's your greatest coach
- 1:46:12Speaker 4: of all time? Like what what makes a great coach?
- 1:46:14Speaker 4: I don't know, It's it's like a really nebulous thing.
- 1:46:17Speaker 4: And I don't ever really care about like who the
- 1:46:19Speaker 4: greatest coaches? Well, I think they're all good I think
- 1:46:21Speaker 4: he's a really good coach. He's a Hall of.
- 1:46:22Speaker 1: Famer with you on this part of like who cares
- 1:46:25Speaker 1: nostics list them wherever you want to list him.
- 1:46:29Speaker 3: I don't know what difference it makes.
- 1:46:30Speaker 1: You know, guys supposed to be young and hip. That's
- 1:46:32Speaker 1: what he's supposed to do on the internet.
- 1:46:36Speaker 3: Make a list, do list on your own time.
- 1:46:37Speaker 4: I mean, I think it's it's fun with players because
- 1:46:40Speaker 4: you have stats and you have games and you know,
- 1:46:41Speaker 4: but it's like no one knows for sure what a
- 1:46:43Speaker 4: coach does. Like you're just kind of a bout. You're
- 1:46:45Speaker 4: kind of there standing on the sidelines as your teams
- 1:46:48Speaker 4: do well or don't do well, and then you infer
- 1:46:50Speaker 4: how much impact they did or did not happen.
- 1:46:52Speaker 1: I used to say to Fred all the time, like
- 1:46:54Speaker 1: why you know people would get upset, like when the
- 1:46:57Speaker 1: various scandals would come up. You know, like, well, this
- 1:47:00Speaker 1: is gonna spoil the legacy, But why would you care?
- 1:47:04Speaker 1: Like I'm not saying it's a good thing as a
- 1:47:05Speaker 1: Patriots fan to have those, but I'm saying, if you
- 1:47:08Speaker 1: think Bill Belichick is the greatest coach of all time
- 1:47:10Speaker 1: and someone else doesn't, why would that bother you like significantly,
- 1:47:15Speaker 1: like where you're sort of losing sleep.
- 1:47:16Speaker 4: Over right, like you demand that Kansas City Chiefs fans acknowledged.
- 1:47:19Speaker 2: It, right, coach.
- 1:47:20Speaker 1: And at the same time, if someone tells you, I
- 1:47:23Speaker 1: think Andy Reid is better because I feel like he's
- 1:47:25Speaker 1: had more success with various quarterbacks than Bill, why would
- 1:47:29Speaker 1: that ball them? Like you think Bill Belichick is the
- 1:47:31Speaker 1: greatest coach? Have some like strengthen your conviction and just
- 1:47:36Speaker 1: go I.
- 1:47:36Speaker 4: Do wonder with some of these people though, that have
- 1:47:39Speaker 4: seemingly so much like angst and anger towards Bill Belichick,
- 1:47:43Speaker 4: Like will they be supportive of him when like things
- 1:47:45Speaker 4: are nice, things are done for him, like in retirement,
- 1:47:47Speaker 4: and they do you know they like you know what
- 1:47:49Speaker 4: I mean, Like all of a sudden, these people that
- 1:47:52Speaker 4: you know are just like cannot stop being mad at
- 1:47:54Speaker 4: Bill Belichick for everything that he's done to their football team,
- 1:47:57Speaker 4: Like well, they they'll all of a sudden be out
- 1:47:58Speaker 4: there that's one of the famous.
- 1:48:00Speaker 1: Like great, it was amazing even though for five years
- 1:48:03Speaker 1: going to get a different You're gonna get a different Bill.
- 1:48:06Speaker 1: Oh yeah, you'll get you get the top one hundred.
- 1:48:08Speaker 1: When they're putting a statue of Bill in the plaza.
- 1:48:11Speaker 1: He's going to come with a big smile on his
- 1:48:13Speaker 1: face and he's going to thank the fans for all
- 1:48:16Speaker 1: the support. Like, you know, remember the last game at
- 1:48:18Speaker 1: fox Spore Stadium, Freddy, Yeah, you know, Bill was like
- 1:48:21Speaker 1: it was like he was hosting a party. Oh yeah,
- 1:48:23Speaker 1: they was high five of people. It was a whole
- 1:48:26Speaker 1: different Belichick.
- 1:48:27Speaker 11: And that's in the back speaking as somebody that is like,
- 1:48:32Speaker 11: thanks for all you've done, you know, goodbye. I'll see
- 1:48:36Speaker 11: you at the Hall of Fame ceremony and I'll be
- 1:48:38Speaker 11: there to to thank you for everything.
- 1:48:41Speaker 3: That you did.
- 1:48:42Speaker 11: You know, like it is not it's nothing to do
- 1:48:43Speaker 11: with the past. Like it's not like bitter.
- 1:48:46Speaker 4: That's why I like listening more to players talk about
- 1:48:49Speaker 4: what makes him a good coach then you know, just
- 1:48:51Speaker 4: our outside perspective of well he won that game and
- 1:48:53Speaker 4: this team was bad, you.
- 1:48:55Speaker 1: Know, like, and I do listen to you know, I
- 1:48:58Speaker 1: think some of it is hyperbole, but I do listen
- 1:49:00Speaker 1: to when players say, you know, I was on three
- 1:49:03Speaker 1: different teams and nowhere was the level of preparation or
- 1:49:07Speaker 1: attention to detail ever, or how he taught approaching what they.
- 1:49:11Speaker 2: Did I'll never get when he first came here as
- 1:49:14Speaker 2: a defensive guy under ourselves and lawyer Molloy during training
- 1:49:20Speaker 2: camp said, this guy's a genius. He makes it so
- 1:49:24Speaker 2: easy to understand the defense. He makes it so easy
- 1:49:27Speaker 2: and I'll never forget that, you know. And since then
- 1:49:30Speaker 2: you've heard guys say he's an amazing teacher. You don't
- 1:49:33Speaker 2: see that part, and that's too bad, you know, I
- 1:49:35Speaker 2: would love to. We've asked to mike him up during
- 1:49:38Speaker 2: practice and everything like that, and you know, we never
- 1:49:41Speaker 2: get it. But it would be so great for fans
- 1:49:43Speaker 2: to see how he teaches the game in the moment
- 1:49:46Speaker 2: on the field, the little things that he you know,
- 1:49:49Speaker 2: we see him talking to guys, well we don't know
- 1:49:51Speaker 2: what he's sayings.
- 1:49:52Speaker 4: And that's stuff as a fan I ate up is
- 1:49:54Speaker 4: just listening listening to him talk to players on the
- 1:49:57Speaker 4: field or standing in front of them, you know, without
- 1:50:00Speaker 4: the kind of the whatever you want governor he puts
- 1:50:03Speaker 4: on when he's talking to the press because he doesn't
- 1:50:05Speaker 4: want to say anything that's going to set off anything,
- 1:50:07Speaker 4: you know that. I mean, that's the stuff that really
- 1:50:10Speaker 4: shows you what kind of coach he is not. Just
- 1:50:12Speaker 4: they went six and twelve this year and bubble, you know,
- 1:50:14Speaker 4: like running down the stats and how the teams did.
- 1:50:17Speaker 4: Like I mean, it's of course, it's part of it,
- 1:50:18Speaker 4: and that's how everybody's judged. But there's so much more
- 1:50:20Speaker 4: that goes into coaching that's interesting to me that we
- 1:50:22Speaker 4: never see and that we you know.
- 1:50:23Speaker 2: Judge it.
- 1:50:24Speaker 4: But like, at the end of the day, he's the coach.
- 1:50:26Speaker 4: The players have to go on the field and do
- 1:50:28Speaker 4: the thing. So like, let's not lose.
- 1:50:30Speaker 2: That for what it is for certain guys. I think
- 1:50:32Speaker 2: Bill Belichick is the perfect coach, like your guy Rodney Harrison,
- 1:50:37Speaker 2: Like that was the perfect marriage for those two. Like
- 1:50:40Speaker 2: Rodney was no nonsense, We're here to work, you know,
- 1:50:44Speaker 2: it's just us, no one's coming, you know, that type
- 1:50:46Speaker 2: of thing, and you know, and Bill's a city you know,
- 1:50:49Speaker 2: Bill was no nonsense and it's all about football, and
- 1:50:53Speaker 2: they were a perfect match and the other guys like that.
- 1:50:55Speaker 4: You know, I do wonder a part of that's generation
- 1:50:57Speaker 4: all though, too, Like I just about it all the time,
- 1:51:00Speaker 4: is they're like how many real killers And I don't
- 1:51:03Speaker 4: mean to say this like killers killers, but like how
- 1:51:05Speaker 4: many of those real tough as nails NFL players are
- 1:51:08Speaker 4: there now like like that from the early two thousands
- 1:51:10Speaker 4: when you went to every team and there's a Ray
- 1:51:13Speaker 4: Lewis or you know, those kind of guys that are
- 1:51:15Speaker 4: just absolute animals on the football field, and it's just
- 1:51:18Speaker 4: it just doesn't seem as much different.
- 1:51:20Speaker 11: Like, yeah, I also just think, like you know, all
- 1:51:23Speaker 11: these offensive players, like they don't want to play the formula,
- 1:51:28Speaker 11: like they don't want to play let's run the ball
- 1:51:31Speaker 11: and let's possess it and let's not turn it over
- 1:51:33Speaker 11: and let's like when yeah, right now, all these players
- 1:51:37Speaker 11: come from the college game is wide open, like they
- 1:51:40Speaker 11: just want to light up the scoreboard. That's all they
- 1:51:42Speaker 11: want to do. And if you're not, if you're being
- 1:51:44Speaker 11: told over and over and over again, no, we're going
- 1:51:47Speaker 11: to do things like this way and that, like and
- 1:51:49Speaker 11: you know that it's conservative and you know that it's
- 1:51:52Speaker 11: not gonna score thirty points a game that that you
- 1:51:55Speaker 11: kind of lose touch with that, right, Like the players
- 1:51:57Speaker 11: don't buy in.
- 1:51:58Speaker 2: And the only thing that appeases them if you're doing
- 1:52:00Speaker 2: when that is if you're winning championships. Well at least
- 1:52:02Speaker 2: I'm getting rings every year, you know, But when you're
- 1:52:06Speaker 2: not it's that's a tough sell. Let's get through some
- 1:52:08Speaker 2: of these phone calls as we wrap up the show.
- 1:52:10Speaker 2: Eldred's in North Carolina. What's up, Eldred?
- 1:52:15Speaker 21: Hello, ladies, Hey Deuce.
- 1:52:22Speaker 9: Evan.
- 1:52:23Speaker 21: Love what you're saying, Evan, But Deuce, it ain't the
- 1:52:26Speaker 21: coaching part. It's the Dean excuse me, the GM part
- 1:52:30Speaker 21: just killing us, you know, lack of talent and the persons.
- 1:52:34Speaker 21: If I keep saying we're not there. There been a
- 1:52:36Speaker 21: lot of people there that we could have got. You
- 1:52:38Speaker 21: never got. Just think instead of getting Harry, you got
- 1:52:42Speaker 21: a J. Brown or D. K. Brady probably been here
- 1:52:45Speaker 21: for the last three years and then whatever. But that's that,
- 1:52:48Speaker 21: you know, you got strange. You could have got ob
- 1:52:51Speaker 21: Lake Watson or whoever. It is just the pit. You
- 1:52:54Speaker 21: keep picking the same guy. And it's the talent level.
- 1:52:57Speaker 21: Cause when you played, when you played some guy that
- 1:52:59Speaker 21: you supposed to get and they run over you, that's
- 1:53:02Speaker 21: a slap in the face too. And that's how we
- 1:53:04Speaker 21: look at you know, we want the team competitive. We
- 1:53:07Speaker 21: don't care. I don't care if they lose. Thirty to
- 1:53:10Speaker 21: twenty five or thirty to eighteen. Is how you look
- 1:53:13Speaker 21: when you're playing.
- 1:53:15Speaker 2: Yeah, just the point.
- 1:53:16Speaker 21: Yeah, you know that's what we have a problem with.
- 1:53:19Speaker 21: Where I am. I don't know about nobody ill, but
- 1:53:21Speaker 21: I am.
- 1:53:21Speaker 2: No, I hear you. It's you know what what what
- 1:53:24Speaker 2: does it look like? You know, watch the game? Like yeah, yeah,
- 1:53:28Speaker 2: I know, I'm.
- 1:53:30Speaker 21: The butt joke, the baby joke. I used to be
- 1:53:32Speaker 21: give them the butt joke, but then I'm the.
- 1:53:34Speaker 2: Butt Joey I have.
- 1:53:36Speaker 21: But we're the tune up joke. We're the tune up games.
- 1:53:38Speaker 2: Yeah, where they get right team? Yeah, that's the new
- 1:53:42Speaker 2: T shirt. Get right with the Patriots?
- 1:53:45Speaker 11: I said after that, I thought of you when they
- 1:53:48Speaker 11: interviewed Derek Carr after the game and they're like, Derek,
- 1:53:51Speaker 11: like you guys finally scored like a little bit on office,
- 1:53:54Speaker 11: Like what went right to them? I'm like, friends, right,
- 1:53:56Speaker 11: where the freaking get right game?
- 1:53:57Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 1:53:57Speaker 3: Like you know the Saints even got right works?
- 1:54:00Speaker 1: Did you hear the answer? No, I'm not sure we
- 1:54:02Speaker 1: should be overully excited about what we did today. We
- 1:54:04Speaker 1: left a lot of points on the field. We had
- 1:54:06Speaker 1: a ton of mistakes that they did. They had how
- 1:54:08Speaker 1: many miss we stopped counting at like eleven penalties? Right, Yeah,
- 1:54:12Speaker 1: I mean they It's like every time they had a
- 1:54:14Speaker 1: third and three they turned it into a third and seven,
- 1:54:16Speaker 1: you know whatever. Third and eight math always tough for me.
- 1:54:20Speaker 4: To me, it was Dennis Allen just being like, Wow,
- 1:54:22Speaker 4: it's been a long time since we played this well
- 1:54:24Speaker 4: in all three three phases.
- 1:54:26Speaker 2: Oh my god, Ken's in Providence? What's up? Ken?
- 1:54:31Speaker 15: Ken?
- 1:54:32Speaker 1: What twelve penalties?
- 1:54:34Speaker 2: Probably for the sense, but uh, okay.
- 1:54:39Speaker 15: My basic question is if you guys were the GM
- 1:54:44Speaker 15: and you have the top ten pick and you're the
- 1:54:47Speaker 15: Patriots and we're not going with Bill next year, what
- 1:54:53Speaker 15: are we doing? Are we taking a tackle? Are we
- 1:54:55Speaker 15: taking a quarterback?
- 1:54:56Speaker 2: Oh? I'm doing whatever I can to get a quarter Yeah, whoever,
- 1:55:00Speaker 2: I like, I'm doing whatever I can to get them.
- 1:55:03Speaker 1: And I'm not sitting wherever I am and hoping that
- 1:55:06Speaker 1: one falls to me. I'm going to get the quarterback
- 1:55:09Speaker 1: that I want. I'm going to move and if I
- 1:55:10Speaker 1: can't do it, I can't do it, but I'm going
- 1:55:12Speaker 1: to die try it.
- 1:55:13Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:55:13Speaker 3: His name is Drake. May know the name.
- 1:55:15Speaker 2: So you like him more than Caleb Williams.
- 1:55:17Speaker 3: No, but Caleb Williams is one okay? Yeah?
- 1:55:20Speaker 1: Right? But if like it's Carolina and they're not going
- 1:55:23Speaker 1: to take him, They're going to trade it.
- 1:55:25Speaker 3: So I want to BELA doesn't have their pick the
- 1:55:27Speaker 3: Bears have.
- 1:55:28Speaker 6: Is that right?
- 1:55:28Speaker 3: The Bears have their pack, that's right.
- 1:55:29Speaker 9: Yeah, the Bears drafting a quarterback.
- 1:55:36Speaker 1: The Bears could draft a quarterback. Carolina wouldn't, but I
- 1:55:38Speaker 1: forgot about that.
- 1:55:39Speaker 3: Yeah, but you know in general, that's right.
- 1:55:42Speaker 11: You're if the Bears are either going to take Caleb
- 1:55:45Speaker 11: Williams or they're going to sell that pick for an
- 1:55:48Speaker 11: absolute boatload.
- 1:55:49Speaker 1: And I want it to be me. Okay, I want May.
- 1:55:54Speaker 11: If it's not Caleb Williams, I want it to be May.
- 1:55:56Speaker 1: I like Drake May too, but I'm not like one
- 1:55:59Speaker 1: more call it.
- 1:56:00Speaker 2: Let's go to Dan and Daytona. What's Up's online?
- 1:56:04Speaker 4: Damn it?

- 1:56:23Speaker 2: My name is Tim can in Providence. Yeah, it's clearly
- 1:56:26Speaker 2: said Canon Providence.
- 1:56:28Speaker 9: But he was saying, compete their names back to them.
- 1:56:30Speaker 4: So do you understand what island?
- 1:56:31Speaker 2: Yeah? Rhode Island has a funny accents. It's you ever
- 1:56:35Speaker 2: notice that a lot of people in Rhode Island kind
- 1:56:36Speaker 2: of have a New York accent. A little bit New
- 1:56:38Speaker 2: York and Boston wop together. Is that right? Opp? Yeah?
