- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome back to episode forty of Inside the Bus. This
- 0:03Speaker 1: is actually my episode because I was number forty growing
- 0:09Speaker 1: up in all of my sports. Why not entirely Sure,
- 0:15Speaker 1: we can get into it a little bit, but yeah,
- 0:18Speaker 1: that was my number in football, in baseball, everything.
- 0:21Speaker 2: Are there any legends that are number forty? Mike all
- 0:23Speaker 2: Stott there you go, just die?
- 0:26Speaker 3: And I was.
- 0:28Speaker 1: I was a running back, he was a fullback. So
- 0:31Speaker 1: then we're both white. So it just kind of felt
- 0:34Speaker 1: like a fit.
- 0:35Speaker 3: Is that? Oh so he's why you did it? No,
- 0:37Speaker 3: So I think the way we actually did it.
- 0:38Speaker 1: I picked it was my first year of playing football,
- 0:42Speaker 1: and my mom was like, okay, you need to pick
- 0:44Speaker 1: your number. I'm like, okay, Larry Johnson's number twenty seven,
- 0:48Speaker 1: Jamal Charge's number twenty five, and then I think like
- 0:51Speaker 1: Priest Holmes was thirty one. So I picked like those
- 0:54Speaker 1: three and then you could pick like, if those three
- 0:57Speaker 1: aren't available, just randomly assigned anyone. So I just got
- 0:59Speaker 1: randomly signed forty, and for whatever reason, from the time
- 1:03Speaker 1: I was six seven years old playing tackle football, I
- 1:07Speaker 1: was number forty all the way up through high school.
- 1:09Speaker 1: So I was number forty as a wide receiver in
- 1:12Speaker 1: high school.
- 1:12Speaker 2: So fourteen that Susquehanna was your first time, not forty.
- 1:15Speaker 1: So fourteen they didn't have forty in baseball. So I
- 1:18Speaker 1: was fourteen in baseball in high school. And then my
- 1:21Speaker 1: freshman year of college, I was number eighty one, and yeah,
- 1:27Speaker 1: I didn't really thought. I didn't really like it just
- 1:30Speaker 1: because I don't know, I just felt weird in it.
- 1:33Speaker 3: So I just had to get the four back.
- 1:34Speaker 1: So that's why just my sophomore year, I texted the
- 1:37Speaker 1: coach was like, hey, can I switch to fourteen? They
- 1:40Speaker 1: were like, we'll see, and then they made it a
- 1:42Speaker 1: surprise when I got our cancer's good number.
- 1:44Speaker 4: Michael Wilson.
- 1:45Speaker 2: Michael Wilson, car, I don't know how Coop does it
- 1:50Speaker 2: like that, right that.
- 1:51Speaker 5: Met at the Rim with Michael Wilson, No Meet at
- 1:53Speaker 5: the Rim, Yah said the same was one of the
- 1:55Speaker 5: quickest things ever.
- 1:56Speaker 4: I mean, that was a draw. We instantly just oh yeah,
- 1:59Speaker 4: Rainy Mas Harrol.
- 2:01Speaker 2: I just had no I've never even heard met at
- 2:03Speaker 2: the Rim used in that context, and it's so perfect
- 2:06Speaker 2: and it happened so fast I didn't even hear it exactly,
- 2:09Speaker 2: which is usually how Coop moves. The only people that
- 2:13Speaker 2: are heard are the ones that I guess I don't
- 2:15Speaker 2: know that it's directed, are tapped in.
- 2:17Speaker 3: Yeah. But yeah, he'll just have like I'm just sitting
- 2:19Speaker 3: in the corner. He'll just have these one off comments
- 2:21Speaker 3: and I'll just start laughing. Coop, I heard that.
- 2:23Speaker 2: Met at the rim, Derek, what was your soccer number?
- 2:27Speaker 3: Forty eight?
- 2:28Speaker 2: Because keepers, I feel like sometimes we'll have a.
- 2:30Speaker 5: Yeah, they didn't really care too much, and so I
- 2:32Speaker 5: was forty eight for Cup because they just like handed
- 2:35Speaker 5: out jerseys and I was like, all right, that's my number.
- 2:38Speaker 5: And then my favorite player was Kobe and Marshaun Lynch
- 2:40Speaker 5: at the time, so I just added them up so
- 2:41Speaker 5: it was always forty eight.
- 2:42Speaker 2: Resourceful young athlete.
- 2:45Speaker 3: I love that, dude.
- 2:46Speaker 2: We need a we need a deep jersey in the
- 2:50Speaker 2: in the office. If you have your college one.
- 2:53Speaker 3: College one's way to give back.
- 2:54Speaker 4: I could find one.
- 2:55Speaker 3: I could find it.
- 2:55Speaker 4: So he has to go grab it from the rafters.
- 2:59Speaker 1: The raptors of this that would be saying if we
- 3:01Speaker 1: all reached out through our high schools.
- 3:04Speaker 3: I have a soccer one at home, but not not
- 3:06Speaker 3: my football.
- 3:06Speaker 1: I have my high school football one. I think it
- 3:09Speaker 1: may be down here or if not, it's back home.
- 3:13Speaker 1: We get all of our jerseys put them in there after.
- 3:16Speaker 4: The only jersey I have is my Keller High School
- 3:20Speaker 4: freshman team like mess jersey that they cut off my
- 3:24Speaker 4: body when I was on the field and when I
- 3:26Speaker 4: broke my leg. I have it's all chopped up. You
- 3:29Speaker 4: still have it, yeah, somewhere and my cleat. I should
- 3:32Speaker 4: bring my cleat. Yeah, they cut They cut the cleat
- 3:35Speaker 4: off my foot, and then all my teammates signed it
- 3:38Speaker 4: right up there.
- 3:40Speaker 3: What number we what number number numbers too?
- 3:43Speaker 6: Number two, number two that was that was like longer, well,
- 3:46Speaker 6: I was thirty five is like a freshman because you
- 3:48Speaker 6: kind of get like a bullshit number, kind to earn
- 3:50Speaker 6: your stripes. And then then I was to my in
- 3:53Speaker 6: my sophomore year, our junior year because Jacob Springer was
- 3:56Speaker 6: a guy who was a senior my sister's grade.
- 3:58Speaker 3: He was two.
- 3:59Speaker 6: And it's always nice to get handed down a number
- 4:02Speaker 6: from like a reputable guy on the team.
- 4:04Speaker 3: For sure.
- 4:05Speaker 6: It's scary too.
- 4:05Speaker 3: You just gotta you too in hockey. Do you you
- 4:08Speaker 3: played hockey as well?
- 4:09Speaker 6: No, I was actually they just gave me a jersey.
- 4:12Speaker 6: There was already two and they taped just one stripe
- 4:15Speaker 6: and made it twelve, so technically I was twelve, but
- 4:18Speaker 6: that was you know, about six weeks long. But it
- 4:20Speaker 6: was good though. I definitely still have my lacrosse jersey
- 4:23Speaker 6: because we were a club sport at the time, so
- 4:25Speaker 6: you had to buy everything. Yeah, it wasn't like they're
- 4:27Speaker 6: just giving you stuff. You know, you had to earn it.
- 4:30Speaker 6: Did you still hanging in my closet?
- 4:32Speaker 3: I know?
- 4:32Speaker 1: In football, like did you or I don't know if
- 4:36Speaker 1: this is in every high school thing, but like did
- 4:39Speaker 1: your football players in high school give their I say,
- 4:41Speaker 1: you're playing at home, give the away jersey to like
- 4:43Speaker 1: their girlfriend or anything?
- 4:44Speaker 3: Was everything the game? I don't really remember.
- 4:48Speaker 2: Ever, I feel like we didn't even have access to
- 4:53Speaker 2: our other jerseys the less we were playing with it,
- 4:56Speaker 2: and so I feel like we were the only ones.
- 4:58Speaker 3: Wearing our jerseys. But maybe in this stance, I don't know.
- 5:01Speaker 6: We definitely had girl friends. And then I want to
- 5:03Speaker 6: even say some of the cheerleaders would kind of like
- 5:06Speaker 6: do the crop fold under and wear it.
- 5:08Speaker 3: Yeah, I think that that maybe rings did you have
- 5:11Speaker 3: that in high.
- 5:11Speaker 4: School where people would wear the jerseys like, so say,
- 5:15Speaker 4: like all the like all the players are wear the
- 5:17Speaker 4: jersey younger, but.
- 5:18Speaker 3: Like Addie would wear your away jersey.
- 5:21Speaker 4: I feel like that's yeah, I feel like that was
- 5:22Speaker 4: a thing, maybe more like Keller.
- 5:24Speaker 3: I don't know if that was just like because I
- 5:26Speaker 3: feel I feel like that's it's not a thing.
- 5:27Speaker 4: I feel like that's the thing. Also, you want to
- 5:29Speaker 4: hear something crazy, it would be crazy to me. I
- 5:32Speaker 4: go back in the files to look at the file
- 5:34Speaker 4: the incident of when they cut my jersey and clean
- 5:36Speaker 4: off number fourteen.
- 5:39Speaker 2: Let's go, I was fourteen in football.
- 5:40Speaker 4: It's all connected.
- 5:42Speaker 2: We got three fourteens and.
- 5:43Speaker 4: Then my boy looking at me flailing number forty, Episode forty.
- 5:49Speaker 4: Holy s, we're so close to the.
- 5:51Speaker 3: Dude in the back should go on the ground with
- 5:53Speaker 3: a broken leg.
- 5:54Speaker 2: Yeah, they captured a moment.
- 5:55Speaker 6: Yeah, oh oh.
- 5:59Speaker 2: See that photo before.
- 6:01Speaker 3: Let me show that's broken leg.
- 6:03Speaker 4: That's the story. That's my show.
- 6:05Speaker 2: Hang on there, switch the camera to you because we
- 6:08Speaker 2: need live react.
- 6:09Speaker 3: We don't have a camera, I don't have shoot.
- 6:11Speaker 4: Just know that this is not my ankle. It is
- 6:13Speaker 4: my ship. I'll make it.
- 6:14Speaker 3: I'll make it vocal. It's okay, it's not I thought
- 6:18Speaker 3: you broke up to here.
- 6:19Speaker 4: No, that's where my cast.
- 6:23Speaker 2: Yeah, still walking right now?
- 6:24Speaker 4: He was doing this ahn.
- 6:27Speaker 3: Where ye wait? Why did you have the cast all
- 6:29Speaker 3: the way up to here? Yeah?
- 6:30Speaker 4: And then they and then I had a cast up
- 6:31Speaker 4: to my crotch, full leg cast. They needed full stability.
- 6:35Speaker 2: True, he missed all this. Agg Coop got his first
- 6:37Speaker 2: kiss while he was in that leg cast.
- 6:39Speaker 4: Yeah, in a wheelchair. That's why I was the wheelchair relatable.
- 6:44Speaker 4: I've been there.
- 6:46Speaker 6: Does anyone else have photos of your worst injury?
- 6:50Speaker 2: Luckily, my worst one was was like I broke my
- 6:53Speaker 2: collar bone in a soccer tournament.
- 6:56Speaker 6: And slinged up.
- 6:57Speaker 2: Yeah, slingked up, and then something that could I guess
- 7:01Speaker 2: act as a photo is a very clear memory. My
- 7:02Speaker 2: first game back from my broken collarbone, I got elbowed
- 7:06Speaker 2: in my nose and I saw I was like holding
- 7:09Speaker 2: my nose and my dad was walking behind the goal
- 7:12Speaker 2: and he just goes, oh, for Christ's sake, what now?
- 7:16Speaker 2: I was just like, oh my god, I no, this
- 7:20Speaker 2: wasn't broken, but.
- 7:22Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 7:22Speaker 1: I mean, I have like film of it, just put
- 7:25Speaker 1: Like my worst injuries is high ankle sprain. So I
- 7:27Speaker 1: was very lucky in that sense. But or like a
- 7:31Speaker 1: contusion or something. But I never really got all that hurt.
- 7:34Speaker 4: I wish I had the film because that screenshot, that
- 7:36Speaker 4: blurry screenshot was from Huddle the Huddle highlights, and it
- 7:40Speaker 4: was getting passed around. Everybody was like passing around at school,
- 7:43Speaker 4: and the coaches like took it down. They didn't even
- 7:47Speaker 4: ask me. I was like, hey, leave it up. That's
- 7:49Speaker 4: what I said, leave it up. I want this. It
- 7:52Speaker 4: was before screen recording on the iPhone was a thing,
- 7:54Speaker 4: so I couldn't get it.
- 7:55Speaker 3: Damn, do you have what was?
- 7:57Speaker 6: I didn't have one from school. Bad head injury in
- 8:01Speaker 6: college where I had like twenty six stitches across my
- 8:04Speaker 6: head and cracked my skull. And it's I I don't
- 8:07Speaker 6: even want to like show it because like we'll probably
- 8:09Speaker 6: get like banned online. It's pretty gruesome. But where my
- 8:13Speaker 6: head goes to is, have you guys witnessed any really
- 8:16Speaker 6: bad injuries? Because I went to a Traveca basketball game
- 8:19Speaker 6: when I was in fifth grade and the guy shinn
- 8:21Speaker 6: went through I mean his shinbo went through his legs. Yeah,
- 8:25Speaker 6: and they stopped the game and the game was over.
- 8:27Speaker 6: It was it was just a canceled game and it
- 8:30Speaker 6: was literally just like that.
- 8:31Speaker 3: It was.
- 8:32Speaker 6: It was bad.
- 8:33Speaker 4: I have experience, well kind of from a distance because
- 8:35Speaker 4: it was in the middle of the football field. It
- 8:38Speaker 4: was after I retired due to injury in football. So
- 8:41Speaker 4: I was in the sands. We four Christian played.
- 8:44Speaker 2: Hey, let you go on the sideline.
- 8:45Speaker 4: No, this is this is after the transfer.
- 8:47Speaker 3: Okay, so I'm at my dude get away.
- 8:51Speaker 4: I was in that same it's a different program, different colors.
- 8:55Speaker 4: We played. Our football team played a like local penitential
- 9:01Speaker 4: like these wait, what penitentiary. How do you say it?
- 9:05Speaker 4: That's like a prison, yes, like a prison school. Yeah, yeah,
- 9:09Speaker 4: I found the right word. Wait, penitentiary, penitentiary.
- 9:14Speaker 6: Y'all's Middle school played a prison team, high school Highway Christian.
- 9:18Speaker 4: They these kids they got sent like there for bad behavior.
- 9:22Speaker 4: If they had good behavior there, they got to play
- 9:24Speaker 4: football and they they had a team and they like
- 9:26Speaker 4: it was like it was like an exhibition. It didn't
- 9:28Speaker 4: count his grid iron gang. Yeah yeah, but one kid
- 9:32Speaker 4: on that team had a very similar enjuramy, like snapped
- 9:35Speaker 4: his leg and half bone showing and they just canceled
- 9:38Speaker 4: the rest of the game. I forget if that.
- 9:41Speaker 6: Year sports and it's such a brutal injury. They're like
- 9:43Speaker 6: this probably isn't worth continuing right now.
- 9:45Speaker 4: And we're just like this guy's he acted good and
- 9:48Speaker 4: got to play football and has legs broken in half.
- 9:51Speaker 2: Damn intense like a couple of my friends toward their
- 9:55Speaker 2: acls or whatever. But it wasn't like gruesome ones to
- 9:59Speaker 2: a lot of you know, we had some like our
- 10:00Speaker 2: football team was really bad, so our old line was horrible.
- 10:03Speaker 2: It's our one of our quarterbacks got hellic concussions.
- 10:06Speaker 1: Yeah, we I got one from football. Was like one
- 10:10Speaker 1: of it was in high school. This kid returned a punt.
- 10:13Speaker 1: It was actually on our team, and this kid, I
- 10:16Speaker 1: think he like fair caught it and the other kid
- 10:19Speaker 1: just came down fullhead and then like he was the
- 10:23Speaker 1: the guy our teammate was just motionless on the ground
- 10:26Speaker 1: for like two minutes.
- 10:27Speaker 3: That part was really scary.
- 10:28Speaker 1: But my buddy Andy, who y'all have met, he uh,
- 10:32Speaker 1: this is a skiing accident. We we were in Vermont
- 10:37Speaker 1: for because I was in ski club and like that
- 10:39Speaker 1: was our ski trip every year we went to Vermont
- 10:42Speaker 1: and we went We're going down this hills like the
- 10:43Speaker 1: last one of the last runs of the day and
- 10:45Speaker 1: we were going we went off an a frame and
- 10:47Speaker 1: we didn't know it was an a frame untill it
- 10:49Speaker 1: was way too late. We thought there was like a
- 10:51Speaker 1: landing to it. So we went off of it like
- 10:53Speaker 1: a good speed and got launched. We went up like
- 10:56Speaker 1: me and him went off at the same time. And
- 10:57Speaker 1: we went off and then like kind of like gott
- 11:00Speaker 1: pushed forward. I fell like I crashed and like just
- 11:03Speaker 1: hit my knee and like just kind of like a whatever.
- 11:07Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 11:07Speaker 1: He he landed like this and his hands so he
- 11:15Speaker 1: broke both of his wrists and he was like on
- 11:18Speaker 1: the ground like moaning, like you know when you get
- 11:20Speaker 1: the wind knocked out of you.
- 11:21Speaker 3: You're like like he was just.
- 11:22Speaker 1: Doing that, hey buddy, like you are right, like you
- 11:25Speaker 1: just got the wind knocked out of you, and he
- 11:26Speaker 1: just wasn't answering luckily. Like we went off and then
- 11:30Speaker 1: right over to the right there was like a ski
- 11:32Speaker 1: right like a rail and there were two ski patrol
- 11:34Speaker 1: people right there and there was just blood everywhere. So
- 11:37Speaker 1: somebody else just got sucked up right there. They came
- 11:40Speaker 1: over to us and we're like everybody, like, you guys
- 11:43Speaker 1: all right, and I'm like I'm good I don't think
- 11:45Speaker 1: Andy's very okay, And so they checked him out and
- 11:49Speaker 1: he's like my wrist, my wrist, and he's like the
- 11:52Speaker 1: one ski patrol offerer was like, just check out his risk.
- 11:55Speaker 1: He's like all right, like you're you're completely fine, You're
- 11:58Speaker 1: really okay. It goes on the radio, Hey, we need
- 12:00Speaker 1: somebody up here. This kid's really fucked up right now.
- 12:04Speaker 1: So his both of his broke, both of his wrists,
- 12:07Speaker 1: was slinged up for the next however many months, and
- 12:11Speaker 1: it was like it was like he's the best dude.
- 12:14Speaker 1: And it was so funny because like he was on
- 12:16Speaker 1: like pain pills, but he we were in class and
- 12:19Speaker 1: you could like you could tell he was on his
- 12:20Speaker 1: pain pills, and he would just like we were in
- 12:23Speaker 1: psychology class.
- 12:24Speaker 3: He would just kind of like just start getting loopy
- 12:26Speaker 3: Andy like lock in.
- 12:27Speaker 1: He'd like just like pay attention for like thirty seconds,
- 12:30Speaker 1: and then you could tell you just start floating away again.
- 12:32Speaker 4: It was so fun The hidros would knock you out.
- 12:34Speaker 4: That's what they gave me paid And then you know what,
- 12:40Speaker 4: I had my like pharmacy refill, got the refilled, never needed.
- 12:44Speaker 4: I still think I have them. Probably don't work anymore.
- 12:46Speaker 3: To the busy I don't work, or they work even better.
- 12:50Speaker 2: Let's find out is a frame just a ramp?
- 12:53Speaker 4: Yeah, Like I don't know how thank you for asking.
- 12:57Speaker 3: I don't know what the point of it.
- 12:58Speaker 6: Is though, what's the kicker smaller jump?
- 13:01Speaker 3: Okay, it's literally like a like a triangle just on
- 13:04Speaker 3: the ground.
- 13:04Speaker 2: Oh got you, got you, got you.
- 13:06Speaker 3: So it's like it's like you just kind of like
- 13:08Speaker 3: ramp up it.
- 13:09Speaker 6: You're supposed to go up and either like do like
- 13:11Speaker 6: something on the rail on the top, and then you
- 13:14Speaker 6: go back down and they use it as a jump,
- 13:17Speaker 6: which you should not do because the landing spot is
- 13:19Speaker 6: going to be really flat, right because it goes down
- 13:22Speaker 6: just goes straight back in.
- 13:23Speaker 1: Yeah, So it's like it went it was like a
- 13:25Speaker 1: quick up and that's why we got launched forward and
- 13:27Speaker 1: we thought thought like you said, like it was a
- 13:29Speaker 1: ramp and so there was like a downslope.
- 13:31Speaker 3: But just straight flat just were like I think I
- 13:34Speaker 3: remember mid air being.
- 13:35Speaker 6: Like, oh shit, it's due to in college I broke
- 13:38Speaker 6: both my wrists at the same time, and the pain
- 13:41Speaker 6: not it's it's the humiliation ritual that you go through
- 13:44Speaker 6: for the next six weeks trying to wipe your ass,
- 13:47Speaker 6: eating writing all this stuff. I luckily had good teachers
- 13:50Speaker 6: my freshman year of college and they I was in
- 13:53Speaker 6: ballroom dancing at the time, and my teacher for our
- 13:57Speaker 6: final you had to obviously do a choreograph dance with
- 14:00Speaker 6: a partner, and I just had to come in on
- 14:02Speaker 6: my own time and do the steps by myself with
- 14:05Speaker 6: two slings. And at the end she goes, it was
- 14:07Speaker 6: enough for you to come in here. She was like,
- 14:09Speaker 6: you're getting an A. And it was a past or
- 14:11Speaker 6: Field grade, so it.
- 14:11Speaker 2: Was like, wow, you ever got to put on your performance?
- 14:14Speaker 6: No, I did. I did it myself, you know, which
- 14:16Speaker 6: debaateally is way way more difficult than doing it with
- 14:20Speaker 6: a partner. But yeah, it's brutal. I've also broke my
- 14:23Speaker 6: hand and foot at the same time. There's it's not
- 14:25Speaker 6: fun breaking bones.
- 14:27Speaker 2: No.
- 14:27Speaker 6: I in seventh grade was working a fourth of July
- 14:31Speaker 6: fireworks stand. It was like July seventh, so you know,
- 14:34Speaker 6: the holiday's done and we have like one or two
- 14:36Speaker 6: more days where we're selling stuff and we're taking down
- 14:39Speaker 6: the tent. For some reason, they put two twelve year
- 14:42Speaker 6: olds to go to the top of the tent and
- 14:44Speaker 6: have you've ever been on top of a fireworks stand
- 14:46Speaker 6: or if you've seen one, you know it's that real
- 14:48Speaker 6: thick kind of plastic material. So they're like, it's fine,
- 14:51Speaker 6: Like you just climb up and you feel like you're
- 14:53Speaker 6: like sticking to it. So you climb up and we're
- 14:55Speaker 6: taking down the flags at the top and they're like,
- 14:57Speaker 6: you're fine. Like the only issue would be is if
- 15:00Speaker 6: for some reason rain and like there's no rain, and
- 15:03Speaker 6: while we're up there, it may be sprinkled for like
- 15:05Speaker 6: all of two seconds and I go down. You get
- 15:08Speaker 6: to slide down it and it'll kind of stop you
- 15:10Speaker 6: at the end, and I'll never forget the feeling. When
- 15:13Speaker 6: I'm halfway down, I was like I'm not stopping. Go
- 15:15Speaker 6: off and it's about a seven eight foot drop. Land
- 15:18Speaker 6: on the foot and wrists on too. So it was
- 15:22Speaker 6: my left foot, my right wrist and land on the gravel.
- 15:25Speaker 6: But dude, I was about a foot away from one
- 15:26Speaker 6: of those big industrial steaks that leverages it in. I'm
- 15:29Speaker 6: like thinking like if I had landed on that, It's like,
- 15:32Speaker 6: this is a whole different ball game.
- 15:34Speaker 2: It was brutal.
- 15:36Speaker 6: It's a whole different podcast, right, now, yeah, man, it's over.
- 15:39Speaker 2: It's over, especially at that age. Yea seven to eight
- 15:42Speaker 2: feet is for sure, and thirty feet yeah, you're.
- 15:45Speaker 3: In the air what like it's what like two seconds,
- 15:48Speaker 3: but it feels.
- 15:49Speaker 6: Like, oh yeah, it's a lifetime. But you know, I
- 15:52Speaker 6: think breaking bones is good for a kid's kind of
- 15:56Speaker 6: their their mental sake. You need to let kids get
- 15:58Speaker 6: hurt or else they form have bits to where they're
- 16:00Speaker 6: scared of the world, so.
- 16:02Speaker 4: They're pretty durable. That's the time to do it.
- 16:04Speaker 6: For sure.
- 16:04Speaker 2: You've just broken a collarbones a collarbone in my left
- 16:07Speaker 2: wrist in fifth grade. We were playing basketball at recess,
- 16:11Speaker 2: so mad trip me from behind.
- 16:12Speaker 1: I've like, luckily, I don't think I've ever broken a bone.
- 16:15Speaker 1: I'm sure I've broken like toes or fingers from playing football,
- 16:18Speaker 1: but never like, hey you broke this, you need a
- 16:20Speaker 1: cast kind of thing. I had, Like when I was
- 16:22Speaker 1: in middle school, I had like my heel hurt for
- 16:24Speaker 1: a really long time, but then by the time we
- 16:26Speaker 1: finally went to the doctor, it was already healed.
- 16:29Speaker 3: But I had like a stress fracture in my heel,
- 16:31Speaker 3: which was really painful. But I've luckily never broken a bone.
- 16:37Speaker 6: Yeah, I was the kid that was just expected to
- 16:40Speaker 6: break bones at some point because four summers in a
- 16:42Speaker 6: row from first grade to fourth grade. The first week
- 16:45Speaker 6: of summer, I broke my wrist four years in a row,
- 16:47Speaker 6: and unlike the third year, people were like, this is
- 16:50Speaker 6: like giving up, dude, what attention do you need now?
- 16:54Speaker 6: Skateboarding was one. One was getting my hand hit by
- 16:58Speaker 6: a lacrosse stick. One was getting scared by a dog
- 17:01Speaker 6: that jumped on a trampoline and I tried to jump
- 17:03Speaker 6: back and they had this elevated like play deck that
- 17:06Speaker 6: I jumped like successfully jumped backwards onto it. So I'm
- 17:09Speaker 6: already like whoa and then take one set back fell off.
- 17:12Speaker 6: That one was dirt biking, put one down just on asphalt.
- 17:19Speaker 6: There's there's been a lot of of broken. I think
- 17:22Speaker 6: I'm at like twenty six fracture slash breaks in my
- 17:25Speaker 6: life because I've broken my back, fracture my skull, both
- 17:28Speaker 6: my ankles multiple times, thirteen fractures between both wrists. My
- 17:33Speaker 6: pinkies are like they sit like sideways, like push it
- 17:38Speaker 6: straight up. But I'm at the point where I hope
- 17:45Speaker 6: I never break another bone in my life because it's
- 17:48Speaker 6: when you're twelve, You're like, this is cool, like kids
- 17:51Speaker 6: are gonna sign my cast whatever, Like I was like
- 17:54Speaker 6: a little attention.
- 17:55Speaker 4: Whorese bones gelatine.
- 17:57Speaker 6: Yeah, and now it's like if you're in a with
- 18:00Speaker 6: a cast, people were like, maybe maybe I'll just ask
- 18:04Speaker 6: another time, like you're not asking people to sign your
- 18:07Speaker 6: cast when you're thirty one, or.
- 18:08Speaker 3: Maybe you are.
- 18:09Speaker 2: I'll ever been in the knee brace, Yeah, I have.
- 18:13Speaker 4: I actually have it.
- 18:14Speaker 2: So Derek, we feel like you got to speak on
- 18:17Speaker 2: the on our injuries because also George Kittle was in
- 18:19Speaker 2: the office this week and Derek was trying to be
- 18:22Speaker 2: nice to George and offered him the wheelchair and George
- 18:25Speaker 2: just looks at Derek and says, I'm gonna break your neck.
- 18:27Speaker 5: I think the exact word where I will snap your
- 18:29Speaker 5: neck and put you in the wheelchair. Myself and I
- 18:31Speaker 5: texted my best friend said, the coolest thing just happened.
- 18:33Speaker 3: I need to send you that clip.
- 18:34Speaker 5: Please do, please do. Injury wise, fractured, I was a goalkeeper.
- 18:38Speaker 5: The bubble fracture left pinky two dislocated, fractured, broken fingers, concussion,
- 18:43Speaker 5: I've broke the growth plate on my foot, which I
- 18:45Speaker 5: have a boot on.
- 18:46Speaker 3: Uh.
- 18:47Speaker 5: But the worst one was when I was young, we
- 18:48Speaker 5: were playing Jurassic Park. I was the raptor and my
- 18:52Speaker 5: brother and his friend had garbage pick her up her
- 18:54Speaker 5: steaks with like needles on the end of it, and
- 18:56Speaker 5: it got caught in my cheekbone and went that way
- 19:00Speaker 5: and ripped my cheek and like pierced the bone to
- 19:02Speaker 5: the point where like the doctor was like, you should
- 19:04Speaker 5: be blind, and so yeah, I was like ah, and
- 19:08Speaker 5: so like it wasn't really that good. He was like,
- 19:11Speaker 5: hey man, you're not like a rafter, but yeah, it
- 19:13Speaker 5: was like an inch away from being blind in my
- 19:15Speaker 5: left eye, which was the craziest one. But in my
- 19:17Speaker 5: adult life, yeah, I had a complete fracture and cleaned
- 19:20Speaker 5: out all the cartilage in my right knee and now
- 19:22Speaker 5: I have a meniscus sprain in my left knee. So
- 19:24Speaker 5: if you guys want to sign my knees brain, you can't.
- 19:27Speaker 1: God d, what's like the worst injury you've heard of
- 19:30Speaker 1: from like one of your.
- 19:31Speaker 3: Boys, or worse injury I heard of?
- 19:34Speaker 1: Because that what you're saying, getting almost blinded reminded me
- 19:37Speaker 1: of my buddy that you've y'all met, Schlez He like
- 19:43Speaker 1: has a scar on his forehead and he got hit
- 19:45Speaker 1: by a jet ski and if it was a center
- 19:48Speaker 1: meter like one centimeter like to the right or left, like,
- 19:51Speaker 1: he would.
- 19:52Speaker 3: Have lost his eye.
- 19:53Speaker 2: How do you get hit by it?
- 19:54Speaker 1: He was swimming like I think he was on like
- 19:55Speaker 1: spring breaker over the summer, and he was in the
- 19:57Speaker 1: lake and some fucker just.
- 20:01Speaker 4: Was going too fast, crazy on like a motor vehicle
- 20:04Speaker 4: in the water, in the water. I got my motor's
- 20:06Speaker 4: license in Texas at thirteen. That's what the.
- 20:09Speaker 6: Hell, honestly just happened of jet ski accidents. A kid
- 20:14Speaker 6: in my brother's grade name We call him Tito. His
- 20:17Speaker 6: name is Logan though, but he's like this big Hawaiian
- 20:20Speaker 6: looking guy, like Polynesian, looks like Tito from Rocket Power.
- 20:23Speaker 6: He was on a jet ski and got thrown off
- 20:26Speaker 6: and they were going probably pretty fast, and all of
- 20:28Speaker 6: a sudden he gets out. He can't move his shoulder.
- 20:31Speaker 6: Long story shot. A year and a half later, his
- 20:34Speaker 6: right arm paralyzed, does cannot move and he's in high school.
- 20:37Speaker 6: He's like a senior. He could not move his arm
- 20:40Speaker 6: for over a year and a half and it was
- 20:42Speaker 6: because it was nerve damage in his spine. And they
- 20:44Speaker 6: did a surgery and they basically go in I mean
- 20:47Speaker 6: you can imagine like the nervous system and how delicate
- 20:50Speaker 6: that surgery would be, and they're basically going into it
- 20:52Speaker 6: being like, there's no real confirmation that this is gonna work,
- 20:57Speaker 6: but it could potentially work. And it's not gonna like
- 20:59Speaker 6: you're gonna wake up from and be able to use
- 21:00Speaker 6: your arm again. It'll be like six months to a
- 21:03Speaker 6: year to possibly never. And he was playing video games
- 21:07Speaker 6: with a buddy in my great because he was his
- 21:09Speaker 6: young life leader at the time, and they said that
- 21:11Speaker 6: they were playing FIFA or NHL, and he scored a
- 21:14Speaker 6: goal and out of nowhere, he just went and my
- 21:17Speaker 6: buddies like drops his controller and looks at him and
- 21:19Speaker 6: it's like and he's like what He's like, Dude, your arm.
- 21:22Speaker 6: And after a year and a half of being paralyzed
- 21:24Speaker 6: from basically the shoulder down and it's just hanging limb
- 21:28Speaker 6: and he could use his hand but he'd have to
- 21:30Speaker 6: like move his hand upwards to use it, all of
- 21:33Speaker 6: a sudden, his arm worked a miracle and beautiful, guess
- 21:35Speaker 6: his arms completely fine.
- 21:38Speaker 4: Now, man, those first few workouts with that arm sucked.
- 21:42Speaker 6: Oh yeah, but he's the man that that one. It's
- 21:44Speaker 6: like something that's long term, like if you break a
- 21:46Speaker 6: bone in six weeks, two months, you have surgery, you
- 21:49Speaker 6: got recovery time. If you have something that is like
- 21:51Speaker 6: going to affect your life for the rest of time,
- 21:53Speaker 6: that's one where you look back and you're like, maybe
- 21:55Speaker 6: I gotta take it a little easier.
- 21:57Speaker 2: Yeah, we need I mean, we didn't have Cam old
- 22:00Speaker 2: roommate on the podcast one time because he has the
- 22:02Speaker 2: story with our other friend Joe and I don't know
- 22:05Speaker 2: the logistics of how this happened, but it was a
- 22:07Speaker 2: jet ski accident and they took the jet ski out
- 22:10Speaker 2: when they weren't supposed to. They're super young, and something
- 22:14Speaker 2: happened with the gas or oil and they like pulled
- 22:17Speaker 2: up to the dock and Cam got off the jet
- 22:20Speaker 2: ski and Joe was still on it and essentially the
- 22:24Speaker 2: jet ski exploded and said, Joe just gets launched, and
- 22:30Speaker 2: I would dude, Cam is such a funny storyteller, Like
- 22:33Speaker 2: that's why I need him to do it, because he
- 22:34Speaker 2: was like, man, I'm just sitting there on the dog
- 22:36Speaker 2: watching my boy fly through the air, and I'm thinking
- 22:38Speaker 2: this is it and I'm just dude, if you guys
- 22:41Speaker 2: knew Joe too, Like, this image is just too gold.
- 22:44Speaker 6: It seems like reaction. Yeah, the Joe seemed like he survived.
- 22:48Speaker 2: Well, Joe's all good, but man, I just like it's
- 22:53Speaker 2: kind of like, have you all ever been on a blob?
- 22:54Speaker 3: Oh?
- 22:55Speaker 4: Yeah, Oh I used to get launch blob. Beat me up, dude.
- 23:02Speaker 2: We had this guy Mitchell felt and shot out Mitchell.
- 23:04Speaker 3: We went to a young.
- 23:06Speaker 2: Life camp in Colorado and Kirka Creek. Yeah exactly, that's
- 23:10Speaker 2: the camp cit that I met at.
- 23:11Speaker 6: Really, but we'll tell that story next.
- 23:13Speaker 2: Yeah, there was a they had a blob out there
- 23:15Speaker 2: and there's this girl, Haley. She was actually she went
- 23:18Speaker 2: on to be a cheerleader at Clemson. So she's like
- 23:20Speaker 2: a little little and Mitchell is like three.
- 23:23Speaker 6: Twenty, always got to get the big boys.
- 23:26Speaker 2: Went to Greenwood High School, same high school as DJ
- 23:29Speaker 2: swearings for Josh Norman, all these guys, HARMANI Edwards, so
- 23:34Speaker 2: he's massive, played old line there and we're like, dude,
- 23:37Speaker 2: you have to launch her and you know she's a flyer,
- 23:40Speaker 2: she's used.
- 23:40Speaker 3: To it, and she flew. I swear dude.
- 23:43Speaker 2: We were like the photo is just like you're like
- 23:46Speaker 2: everybody's looking at a star that you can barely see,
- 23:48Speaker 2: and she landed due she was bruised from it.
- 23:51Speaker 3: It was it was all time, you know.
- 23:52Speaker 4: There was a split second there where she's.
- 23:54Speaker 2: Like, oh no, why did I do this?
- 23:55Speaker 4: But man, I've been there.
- 23:56Speaker 6: Camp Legend, Camp Legend.
- 24:00Speaker 1: We had a camp like we I went to campus,
- 24:02Speaker 1: just called Camp win Swat. It's more of like a
- 24:05Speaker 1: just like.
- 24:05Speaker 6: Your stereotypically like a YMCA like summer camp exactly.
- 24:08Speaker 3: Like we had.
- 24:09Speaker 1: We played like some fun games and stuff, but like
- 24:12Speaker 1: nothing like where there was a lake or anything. They
- 24:14Speaker 1: had like a pool when they had the woods and
- 24:15Speaker 1: we could just go fuck around.
- 24:16Speaker 3: A life camp. Man. Yeah, they do it right for
- 24:19Speaker 3: their summer camps.
- 24:19Speaker 1: I got accidentally headbutted by one of the counselors one time.
- 24:23Speaker 1: You're playing tag and I snuck up behind the guy
- 24:25Speaker 1: and like tried to tag him and he for whatever
- 24:27Speaker 1: reason went like that.
- 24:28Speaker 4: Just I loved going to camp. Every funny stories and
- 24:31Speaker 4: we had like these shared cabins with a big old
- 24:34Speaker 4: It was like two churches shared cabin, big old space
- 24:37Speaker 4: in the middle, and that's where I started playing four square.
- 24:40Speaker 4: We would play against him in four square and it
- 24:43Speaker 4: like just the best memory. Also the blob when the
- 24:47Speaker 4: line like you have your two hours of free time,
- 24:49Speaker 4: everybody goes to the lake lines along for the blob.
- 24:52Speaker 4: I remember like if you didn't land on the blob
- 24:55Speaker 4: because it was far down there, you jump down there
- 24:57Speaker 4: and you slide off. Your whole free time is.
- 25:00Speaker 2: Just that crawl out there is nerve wrecking.
- 25:03Speaker 4: Yeah, but even when you like jump in land, it's
- 25:04Speaker 4: wet because people have been jumping on it, Like you.
- 25:06Speaker 3: Got to get to the end.
- 25:09Speaker 4: You fall off the blall like you don't get to
- 25:10Speaker 4: get launched. Worst feeling ever camp. Yeah, I was there
- 25:14Speaker 4: for like a week.
- 25:15Speaker 3: Yeah, ours was just parents, drop us off in the morning,
- 25:17Speaker 3: pick us up.
- 25:18Speaker 4: And now I always felt bad for the people that
- 25:19Speaker 4: I had to launch.
- 25:23Speaker 6: I was like, they don't even leave the ball, they
- 25:28Speaker 6: just gotta fall into the water.
- 25:30Speaker 3: Dude.
- 25:31Speaker 6: Speaking of shared cabins, the whole idea when you're in
- 25:34Speaker 6: middle school and a teacher tells you to be quiet
- 25:36Speaker 6: and you just cannot stop laughing with your buddies. There's
- 25:39Speaker 6: almost an even the funnier moment when you're in a
- 25:41Speaker 6: shared cabin and it's like some twenty three year old
- 25:44Speaker 6: kid who's like had enough with all of the stuff
- 25:47Speaker 6: all day, and it's like it's bedtime and there's really
- 25:50Speaker 6: no repercussions if you're gonna be like but the fun
- 25:54Speaker 6: just like someone just going like far and just like
- 25:58Speaker 6: some inside joke that's been like beat too hard all day,
- 26:01Speaker 6: Like ah, man, I love that time of night when
- 26:03Speaker 6: everyone's just trying to settle down and you just can't
- 26:05Speaker 6: stop laughing.
- 26:06Speaker 3: Did you'll ever do u X bombs?
- 26:10Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 26:10Speaker 6: I actually got suspended for one.
- 26:12Speaker 2: Jack actually broke his left foot.
- 26:14Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 26:14Speaker 6: So this is my fourth break sixth grade. I axe
- 26:18Speaker 6: bombed the hallway, uh the day before Christmas break or
- 26:21Speaker 6: two days before Christmas break. But in gym class, we
- 26:24Speaker 6: had a tournament for volleyball that was going on three
- 26:27Speaker 6: weeks prior and my team.
- 26:28Speaker 2: Middle school volleyball tournament in the school.
- 26:31Speaker 6: Is so elite, unreal, And so the two teams in
- 26:35Speaker 6: the championship got to play in front of the whole
- 26:37Speaker 6: school at the pep rally going into Christmas break, and
- 26:40Speaker 6: my team is on there, and so what do I do?
- 26:43Speaker 6: I jeopardized everything I've worked for my whole life layer literally,
- 26:48Speaker 6: so I axepom the hallway, and but I don't tell
- 26:50Speaker 6: any of my friends. I just do it during a
- 26:53Speaker 6: period when I went to the bathroom and then it
- 26:55Speaker 6: happens and then everyone's like goes out and it was
- 26:59Speaker 6: it was bad and people are like what. My friend's like,
- 27:01Speaker 6: what the fuck? And I'm like, you do this obviously
- 27:04Speaker 6: they checked the cameras. I'm on it. I get called
- 27:07Speaker 6: in the office. My mom gets called in and doctor Kendrick,
- 27:10Speaker 6: who was just you can just imagine like one of
- 27:14Speaker 6: the vice principals who always had your number, pulls me
- 27:17Speaker 6: in and I'm so nervous. And the first question she
- 27:19Speaker 6: asked me and my mom is did you know that
- 27:22Speaker 6: you could have killed someone when you did this? Because
- 27:25Speaker 6: there was a kid who had an allergic reaction. They
- 27:26Speaker 6: had to call an ambulance. He couldn't breathe. They take
- 27:28Speaker 6: him to the hospital. And I'm so nervous. I go yes,
- 27:32Speaker 6: and my mom goes, no, he did not. She goes,
- 27:35Speaker 6: he did not know he could kill someone, and I'm
- 27:37Speaker 6: like no, no, no. They end up suspending me. So they
- 27:41Speaker 6: suspend me for the one half day, which sucks because
- 27:43Speaker 6: it's like if you get suspend at least you get
- 27:45Speaker 6: a whole day of school off. They suspend me for
- 27:47Speaker 6: the one day where this vice principal knew how much
- 27:50Speaker 6: it would kill me that I could not compete in
- 27:52Speaker 6: front of the school for the volleyball. Of course, my
- 27:55Speaker 6: team wins to no one remembers my name. Oh, they're
- 27:58Speaker 6: just like, you're that kid with the cast, gotcha, dude.
- 28:01Speaker 4: The nervous not knowing the answer at the moment is
- 28:03Speaker 4: so far because we ever know the answer. Yeah, you
- 28:06Speaker 4: like know they're pressing you and it's a fifty to
- 28:08Speaker 4: fifty and you just quickly have to.
- 28:10Speaker 6: Say, I'm like, yes, I would have killed him if
- 28:11Speaker 6: I could.
- 28:13Speaker 3: We.
- 28:13Speaker 1: I went to a baseball like travel tournament in Cooperstown,
- 28:17Speaker 1: like where the Baseball Hall of Fame is, and like
- 28:19Speaker 1: it's literally just house after house like of just all
- 28:24Speaker 1: of the different teams, and you just get close with
- 28:25Speaker 1: different teams and like you would just run and just
- 28:28Speaker 1: ast mom and just sprint back to your dorm and
- 28:31Speaker 1: it's like the giggles of somebody making a fart noise
- 28:34Speaker 1: and the coaches like, shut the fuck up.
- 28:36Speaker 3: It's like, no, I.
- 28:38Speaker 6: Always wanted to go to Cooperstown, not to play baseball
- 28:40Speaker 6: just to be in the Shenanigans with the boys.
- 28:43Speaker 3: Yeah, it was. It was fun, dude.
- 28:45Speaker 2: I was we're talking about how bad, like how how
- 28:48Speaker 2: much of a bummer it is, like that you nobody
- 28:50Speaker 2: remembers your name from the volleyball within. I was talking
- 28:53Speaker 2: to Connor and he was they went to the Little
- 28:56Speaker 2: League World Series and he they made it to like
- 28:59Speaker 2: the final or whatever, and he made a Top ten play.
- 29:03Speaker 2: So he gets the number nine play and he's saying,
- 29:05Speaker 2: you know, in my head after it happens, I'm thinking,
- 29:08Speaker 2: I'm like, man, this one could make it on TV.
- 29:11Speaker 2: And he said that they were. I think they might
- 29:12Speaker 2: have even been in studio when Top ten Plays was
- 29:16Speaker 2: rolling number nine from the Little League World Series team Nashville.
- 29:21Speaker 2: There's a play like, you know, pop out play and
- 29:23Speaker 2: they said the wrong name.
- 29:26Speaker 6: It doesn't even matter at that point, it's like you
- 29:28Speaker 6: wish you hadn't even made.
- 29:29Speaker 3: The play exactly.
- 29:30Speaker 2: Can you imagine being in middle school, you're on Top
- 29:32Speaker 2: ten Plays, You're watching it and they don't say your name.
- 29:35Speaker 6: Like, well, we can't really see if that's you. I
- 29:37Speaker 6: don't know exactly.
- 29:39Speaker 3: Dude, that it's me.
- 29:42Speaker 6: Your boy boys are like nah, man, that's not exactly.
- 29:45Speaker 4: What number was your top ten player?
- 29:47Speaker 1: Number three? And they they were like, uh, just fortunately
- 29:53Speaker 1: Mitch made the catch. Unfortunately they lost the game on
- 29:55Speaker 1: a number two. And it's like it was the back
- 29:58Speaker 1: out to or whatever. It's like Paul custs to lead
- 30:00Speaker 1: to thirty.
- 30:02Speaker 3: Yeah, unfortunately they lost.
- 30:04Speaker 2: You have the highest top ten play in the office. Yeah,
- 30:07Speaker 2: it's true, well Taylor what technically was on the number
- 30:10Speaker 2: one top ten play.
- 30:11Speaker 3: But for a long time, dude.
- 30:13Speaker 6: It's it's sad that the top ten is just not
- 30:17Speaker 6: what it used to be. It doesn't even mean any sports.
- 30:19Speaker 4: And just they don't have that ticker anymore. Oh no,
- 30:22Speaker 4: no web gin top ten, no cool segments.
- 30:25Speaker 1: The tweet was like eating a bowl of cereal cereal
- 30:28Speaker 1: and racing that time up in the top left just
- 30:31Speaker 1: to see the top ten.
- 30:31Speaker 3: So you have to go reach the bus or whatever.
- 30:33Speaker 3: And it's like it's nowadays.
- 30:35Speaker 4: Just don't well the anticipation.
- 30:36Speaker 2: Well, and that's the thing it's like, because it would
- 30:38Speaker 2: always come on at like, say, if you're watching at
- 30:40Speaker 2: eight am, it would be the top ten players would
- 30:43Speaker 2: come on at like eight fifty three, and for whatever reason,
- 30:46Speaker 2: always in your head, you had somewhere to be a nine,
- 30:49Speaker 2: and it's like, I hope I can stay till number one, like,
- 30:51Speaker 2: and I don't leave too late. And it's like, now
- 30:53Speaker 2: you're older, it's like TV is scheduled. Yeah, Like it
- 30:56Speaker 2: ends at the same time every single day.
- 30:58Speaker 4: And it's just a bunch of talk show where they
- 31:00Speaker 4: arguing with each other.
- 31:01Speaker 2: But but I'm saying is like you're every single day
- 31:04Speaker 2: you're thinking like, man, maybe it ends early, but really
- 31:07Speaker 2: it's like every single day it ends at the exact
- 31:09Speaker 2: same time and you're always late. But man, that top ten.
- 31:12Speaker 1: Yeah, And like back then too, you didn't realize that
- 31:15Speaker 1: they just the next hour is the same exact show.
- 31:19Speaker 3: Yeah, or the hour before.
- 31:23Speaker 6: We've all been in that situation staying up too late
- 31:25Speaker 6: where you've hit like your second or third run of
- 31:27Speaker 6: Sports Center and you're like, I gotta turn this off.
- 31:30Speaker 3: It's fun anymore.
- 31:32Speaker 4: Now look at us, man, Now we are a sports center.
- 31:39Speaker 3: How long we've been going? Derek? Fuck, we got more?
- 31:46Speaker 4: Yeah, at least we need at.
- 31:48Speaker 3: Least ten your tennis, we need camp Camp's race.
- 31:52Speaker 2: Yeah, which one do you want to start with?
- 31:54Speaker 5: You?
- 31:54Speaker 2: All right, y'all were here when I got to texta
- 31:57Speaker 2: I was that I was playing singles. I was ll
- 32:00Speaker 2: be anxious. I started getting nervous, so we took to
- 32:03Speaker 2: the courts. I got that text on wind this past Wednesday,
- 32:06Speaker 2: and on Friday, I hit up my boy Tyler. He's
- 32:08Speaker 2: a grinder. He's similar level to me. We didn't grow up,
- 32:11Speaker 2: neither of us grew up playing tennis. But he's athletic
- 32:13Speaker 2: and he's in shape, one of the most in shape
- 32:15Speaker 2: people I know. And we go play Friday at Shelby
- 32:18Speaker 2: Park and it is just a two match grinder and
- 32:22Speaker 2: I'm up five to two in the second set and
- 32:25Speaker 2: my fingers start, my blister pops basically, and I'm thinking
- 32:31Speaker 2: I can't, like, I can't quit now, Like I know,
- 32:34Speaker 2: I gotta stay healthy for my match.
- 32:36Speaker 3: We push it.
- 32:37Speaker 2: I'm starting to like serve with my pinky out, hit
- 32:40Speaker 2: four hands with my pinky out. It's falling apart. It
- 32:42Speaker 2: gets to five to five and I'm like the number
- 32:44Speaker 2: one thing in my head, I'm like, dude, I cannot
- 32:46Speaker 2: go to a tiebreak, Like my hand's just gonna get worse.
- 32:50Speaker 2: But now I'm also like, I don't want to be
- 32:51Speaker 2: that guy that's like it's five five, and I try
- 32:54Speaker 2: to quit. So it's his serve. I tell him, like, dude,
- 32:57Speaker 2: we I have these blisters. I do not want to
- 32:59Speaker 2: go to a tie break. Next next service game wins,
- 33:02Speaker 2: and it's your serve. I end up beating him and
- 33:04Speaker 2: then so you know, he's a good friend. So it's like, oh, bro'
- 33:08Speaker 2: you're a punk, Like you quit, you gave up whatever,
- 33:12Speaker 2: Go buy some tennis shoes on Saturday morning. Matches on Sunday,
- 33:16Speaker 2: I'm wearing my tennis shoes all day. I wear them
- 33:17Speaker 2: out to Sam Volleyball. I'm as Sam volleyball, haven't played
- 33:20Speaker 2: in a while, and I'm feeling it.
- 33:24Speaker 3: I go and make one play and I try to
- 33:25Speaker 3: hit it back over.
- 33:26Speaker 2: My head and my shoulder pops twice, and I'm thinking
- 33:29Speaker 2: that initial fear you get when something pops and you're
- 33:31Speaker 2: just like, dude, did I there's no shot that I
- 33:34Speaker 2: dislocated my shoulder, but it popped twice. I'm like maybe
- 33:37Speaker 2: it was in and out and it's fine, and ultimately,
- 33:39Speaker 2: like I'm moving in around and it still hurts today,
- 33:42Speaker 2: but I'm like, it's my left arm.
- 33:44Speaker 3: It's all good.
- 33:45Speaker 2: But that happened in game three of this series in
- 33:48Speaker 2: Sam volleyball in the championship. So now there's a narrative
- 33:51Speaker 2: starting of JP. He punks out in the biggest moments,
- 33:54Speaker 2: which kills me. Match day comes. My shoes are broken in.
- 33:59Speaker 2: I met up with the boy is out of Germantown
- 34:00Speaker 2: actually on Saturday. They saw my tennis shoes, all white,
- 34:03Speaker 2: Adidas breaking them in. And dude, the feeling because I've
- 34:08Speaker 2: never really did an individual sport and I know it's
- 34:11Speaker 2: just rec league tennis, but that feeling of stepping onto
- 34:15Speaker 2: the court in an individual sport when you haven't competed
- 34:18Speaker 2: in a while and you get that anxiousness.
- 34:20Speaker 6: It's all on you.
- 34:22Speaker 2: But man, it's like and when that first serve happens,
- 34:24Speaker 2: it's like, this is what it's all about. Like I'm
- 34:27Speaker 2: finally back out here in the arena again competing and dude,
- 34:32Speaker 2: not know, none of you guys are tennis fans really,
- 34:34Speaker 2: so this is the worst part about my matches.
- 34:37Speaker 3: I got.
- 34:37Speaker 2: I got beat six two sixty one, but it was
- 34:41Speaker 2: a lot closer than the score.
- 34:42Speaker 3: I remember you saying that every point went to Uh dude,
- 34:46Speaker 3: we went to deuce.
- 34:47Speaker 2: So many times, which is basically forty forty and we're
- 34:52Speaker 2: in grinders off points, Like we probably had two or
- 34:54Speaker 2: three twenty plus shot rallies, which is crazy. In tennis,
- 34:59Speaker 2: you make a top ten play, you doing a twenty
- 35:00Speaker 2: shot Rally's French Open. Fortunately we're as centennial. But this guy,
- 35:06Speaker 2: he was, he just he made way less mistakes than me.
- 35:09Speaker 2: I had plenty of. I like to verbally abuse myself,
- 35:12Speaker 2: especially in uh in individual sports, you know, I like,
- 35:16Speaker 2: look over at sitting, I'm like, I'm worthless. I should
- 35:20Speaker 2: never step out here. Why Like why do I do this?
- 35:22Speaker 2: But then the very next point, I'm like, we'll probably
- 35:25Speaker 2: win code. My coach comes over talk to me. He's like,
- 35:27Speaker 2: you gotta work on self talk. I'm like, dude, trust me,
- 35:29Speaker 2: Like I need this. I've moved on in the next point.
- 35:33Speaker 2: But it was one of the most fun, probably one
- 35:35Speaker 2: of the most fun days I've had all year, and
- 35:39Speaker 2: just to and it's a sport I didn't grow up
- 35:41Speaker 2: competing in, so like to do something new. And I
- 35:44Speaker 2: know that I had fun because getting my butt whooped sucks.
- 35:48Speaker 2: But it's also like I can't wait to can't wait
- 35:50Speaker 2: to go back.
- 35:51Speaker 3: So do you have another one this Sunday?
- 35:53Speaker 2: Well, I'm gonna be in Japan, so it's my Japan
- 35:55Speaker 2: training arc. And when I come back, yeah, heads will
- 35:59Speaker 2: be taken.
- 36:00Speaker 4: You come back with like this Samurai Headman.
- 36:02Speaker 2: Samurai Headman, hopefully at katan Katana. But yeah, it was,
- 36:07Speaker 2: it was, It was a blast. What later on in
- 36:10Speaker 2: the season, I'll have to I'll send out the official invite. Yeah,
- 36:13Speaker 2: and I'll get some lessons from Jack's mom.
- 36:15Speaker 6: Yeah she could, she could, definitely.
- 36:17Speaker 2: My serve was struggling, only double faulted like two or
- 36:19Speaker 2: three times, but zero pace on my serf.
- 36:23Speaker 6: On Sunday, she'd probably be out there. She's played thousands.
- 36:26Speaker 3: Of match.
- 36:28Speaker 7: Centennial utsa mixed doubles tournament with your mom. She's won
- 36:34Speaker 7: the whole state in nationals like three times before. She's
- 36:38Speaker 7: older now, so but she was.
- 36:40Speaker 6: She's a I've met like moms in passing in my
- 36:44Speaker 6: life where they're like your mother's Kathy McPherson. They're like,
- 36:47Speaker 6: you know what she is to Nashville's Tennessee And I
- 36:50Speaker 6: was like no, like no, but thank you for telling me.
- 36:54Speaker 6: That's beautiful.
- 36:55Speaker 2: That is a Kathy McPherson is a great tennis name.
- 36:59Speaker 3: Dude.
- 36:59Speaker 6: I'd love to get out and hit some rallies too.
- 37:01Speaker 6: If you ever need someone just to hit be a
- 37:03Speaker 6: wall with. I'd love getting out there and playing tennis for.
- 37:05Speaker 3: It's too hot. Why didn't your mom go pro? Dude it?
- 37:09Speaker 6: Yeah, mom, why didn't you go pro?
- 37:12Speaker 3: Like? Did she get into it later?
- 37:13Speaker 6: My mom got into it later. She was more volleyball
- 37:15Speaker 6: player growing up and then uh, when I think as.
- 37:20Speaker 4: Exactly, so why didn't you go pro volleyball?
- 37:22Speaker 6: But she her like peak was probably between the ages
- 37:25Speaker 6: of thirty five and fifty, and she was that like
- 37:29Speaker 6: when we were growing up. She was very, very involved
- 37:32Speaker 6: in tennis, competitive fleegue tennis. So she still loves it.
- 37:36Speaker 3: So that's ball. He yeah, I'll feel me next time.
- 37:40Speaker 4: Coop can't try it. First of all, has anybody in
- 37:43Speaker 4: here been to like an Ironman race for like any
- 37:46Speaker 4: other friends or family.
- 37:47Speaker 3: Nor to an iron Man but Triathlones.
- 37:50Speaker 4: I'm sure it's similar insane the crowd because you have
- 37:54Speaker 4: and this is the second one I've been to now,
- 37:56Speaker 4: and I think that's one of those things where the
- 37:58Speaker 4: crowd is pretty consistent of what it's every time, because
- 38:01Speaker 4: there are some people that die for this shit. Over
- 38:04Speaker 4: two thousand racers and then all the stuff that's blocked
- 38:09Speaker 4: off and then you have like almost tripled that for
- 38:11Speaker 4: like family supporters. I mean Camp had six of us,
- 38:16Speaker 4: So like that's for every race. Like it's just insanely busy.
- 38:19Speaker 4: Just everything in that city basically shut down in that radius.
- 38:24Speaker 4: But it first of all, where I already said first
- 38:27Speaker 4: of all, Second of all, shout out to Camp because
- 38:31Speaker 4: when you you've grown ass man with a full time
- 38:33Speaker 4: job and a wife, and like the amount of training
- 38:38Speaker 4: that goes into that, especially for your first time, I
- 38:40Speaker 4: mean you're always training. It is like almost another full
- 38:43Speaker 4: time job. Yeah, So like I kind of kept hat
- 38:46Speaker 4: like camping up days like when he goes to the
- 38:47Speaker 4: lake and swims to train, like you have to swim
- 38:50Speaker 4: every day after work, swimming at like the local like gym,
- 38:53Speaker 4: and then biking like finding a group to bike with
- 38:58Speaker 4: like really practice and then running.
- 39:00Speaker 6: Is it one mile swim one hundred mile bike marathon
- 39:03Speaker 6: is ironment?
- 39:04Speaker 4: It's just over a miles swim, like fifty six miles
- 39:09Speaker 4: biking and then fourteen running. I think it's a half
- 39:12Speaker 4: iron man. Uh. Unfortunately, the wind on Sunday was insane,
- 39:20Speaker 4: like hurricane level win Like the lake the waves were
- 39:23Speaker 4: like capping. It looked like they bring me a triangle
- 39:26Speaker 4: out there. It was they canceled the swim, which sucks
- 39:30Speaker 4: because it like and there's they so they canceled the
- 39:34Speaker 4: swim for everybody, the professionals, because there are people who
- 39:37Speaker 4: are labeled. I didn't know and really until this one,
- 39:39Speaker 4: I didn't even know what the last one. There's professionals.
- 39:41Speaker 4: They let them swim three hundred and fifty meters and
- 39:44Speaker 4: then like calculated their time based on that. Like, like
- 39:47Speaker 4: I said, there's people like that is their full time job,
- 39:50Speaker 4: which is just insane. But it sucks that Camp didn't
- 39:52Speaker 4: get to do the swim, but he got to. We
- 39:55Speaker 4: saw him take off on the bike, which was cool.
- 39:57Speaker 4: The way that they do it's like waves like boom
- 39:59Speaker 4: boom boom, and and then they like release a crowd
- 40:02Speaker 4: and then he was off and then we didn't see
- 40:03Speaker 4: him on the bike because they just go off sixty miles.
- 40:08Speaker 3: Uh.
- 40:09Speaker 4: It was in Texas, in Lake Louis, like little Elm,
- 40:12Speaker 4: just to their first time hosting to which the logistics
- 40:15Speaker 4: of that crazy there. I know, there was some like
- 40:17Speaker 4: incidents like this one woman got like got hit by
- 40:20Speaker 4: a police car while she was biking, got like helicopter away.
- 40:23Speaker 4: I'm crazy. I found that out after. But it's fun
- 40:27Speaker 4: because on the AB you can track like certain checkpoints
- 40:29Speaker 4: and you can see their pace like slow down for everybody.
- 40:33Speaker 6: I'm struggle.
- 40:35Speaker 4: Yeah, but it was sick and it was fun to
- 40:40Speaker 4: be like even though we're when he got to the run,
- 40:42Speaker 4: we got to see him every because of the run
- 40:44Speaker 4: is laps, big laps, so like every thirty minutes we
- 40:46Speaker 4: would see camp come by and were like let's go,
- 40:50Speaker 4: but uh oh. And also the crowd they let you
- 40:55Speaker 4: cross like the track like they have like ushers that
- 40:58Speaker 4: kind of like say okay, you can go now. Big
- 41:00Speaker 4: crowd about to cross this like big, like almost near
- 41:03Speaker 4: the finish for like the professionals that they were getting done.
- 41:06Speaker 4: Everybody else was like halfway into the race, we all
- 41:09Speaker 4: cross and I come within like an inch of hitting
- 41:12Speaker 4: a runner because like they're all like shovel on something
- 41:14Speaker 4: like my go, go go, Like I didn't, like, we
- 41:16Speaker 4: didn't hit anybody our crowd. But there's like these spectators
- 41:19Speaker 4: that are like, oh, come on, oh, they're eighty miles
- 41:23Speaker 4: into a race. First of all, it's not even eighty
- 41:24Speaker 4: miles but I'm like, I'm like that brother. They they
- 41:28Speaker 4: told us to go, what do you want from us?
- 41:30Speaker 4: I would do better if I just went weaved with it.
- 41:33Speaker 2: But the crowds don't get enough credit. They show up
- 41:36Speaker 2: to Ironman's marathons because.
- 41:39Speaker 4: All the signs too. Yeah everybody see you.
- 41:41Speaker 2: For five seconds. Yeah, I'm like, I understand, you trained hard,
- 41:45Speaker 2: you did a lot of these things, but this race
- 41:46Speaker 2: started at five am, and now I was here at
- 41:49Speaker 2: five am just to see you for ten seconds.
- 41:52Speaker 4: Insane, but it is it is worth it for the finish.
- 41:55Speaker 4: The finish is really fun. We got a good spot
- 41:58Speaker 4: like camped out the finish line and these all big spectacles.
- 42:02Speaker 4: Some people I was praying Camp didn't do this. Like
- 42:05Speaker 4: Camp finished like you know, like at his pace like
- 42:08Speaker 4: he said, I like and ran. There was like some
- 42:11Speaker 4: dude like jumping like hype like like all this, Like
- 42:14Speaker 4: people would.
- 42:15Speaker 3: Like just sick if Camp hit the job, if.
- 42:18Speaker 4: Me and me and diego my my future brother in law.
- 42:21Speaker 4: Were kind of judging some of these people because they
- 42:24Speaker 4: were like really making it all about them as across
- 42:27Speaker 4: the summer, like all right.
- 42:28Speaker 2: Like come on, miked up at one of these events
- 42:31Speaker 2: would be all time.
- 42:32Speaker 4: But then Camp Cross Normal, I was like, that's my
- 42:34Speaker 4: fucking dog and you know what, breaking news. I'll bring
- 42:38Speaker 4: it right now. Job, job's not finished. Didn't get to
- 42:40Speaker 4: do swim camp compsog has signed up for an iron
- 42:43Speaker 4: Man in October to finish what he started and I.
- 42:46Speaker 3: Will be back for that shout out.
- 42:48Speaker 6: Camp Is that in Texas as well?
- 42:49Speaker 4: It is in Waco? Surem stopping ground?
- 42:53Speaker 3: Is it full or half half?
- 42:55Speaker 4: Okay, maybe full in the future.
- 42:56Speaker 3: I don't know, dude, that shit is.
- 42:59Speaker 1: I've done like afline and it was three hundred meters swim,
- 43:02Speaker 1: a five k run and like a fifteen mile like
- 43:06Speaker 1: by the end of that, I was so tired. Swim
- 43:09Speaker 1: man like it was and I the swim took me
- 43:12Speaker 1: like three minutes because of the current being so fast.
- 43:16Speaker 3: But like miss on his back, just floating back.
- 43:19Speaker 1: It was swamming in the Cumberland and it was freezing
- 43:23Speaker 1: and that water is disgusting.
- 43:24Speaker 6: I was gonna say, man, I've lived my whole life
- 43:26Speaker 6: and I've never swam in the Cumberland. But is it
- 43:29Speaker 6: by the Titan Stadium or is it Yeah, dude, where
- 43:32Speaker 6: all the barges and boats go needles and dead people
- 43:34Speaker 6: there and.
- 43:36Speaker 1: Like the place to get out of the water, and
- 43:38Speaker 1: I don't know how it is or would have been there,
- 43:41Speaker 1: but it like bottlenecks, So like there's seventy five people
- 43:45Speaker 1: trying to get out in like a ten foot like
- 43:48Speaker 1: wide area.
- 43:49Speaker 3: And you're just getting you just get take your chance
- 43:51Speaker 3: of kicking.
- 43:52Speaker 1: People, like you'd start to get like worked up and
- 43:55Speaker 1: you just have to like calm yourself down. But I
- 43:56Speaker 1: mean that I thought I was gonna die during it.
- 44:00Speaker 4: Do the bathroom thing is funny because I was thinking,
- 44:03Speaker 4: like you're you're going through all these fluids, but you're
- 44:05Speaker 4: like you're going through them, so like I didn't think Camp.
- 44:07Speaker 4: And like he's in the suit, he finishes the race,
- 44:09Speaker 4: he's like, we're like, dude, your time like kept getting slower.
- 44:12Speaker 4: So he's like he's like I stopped every lap to
- 44:14Speaker 4: pee like twice, and he's like he's like I had
- 44:17Speaker 4: to pee so the whole race. I was like, dude,
- 44:20Speaker 4: I couldn't do that. It would take me two minutes
- 44:22Speaker 4: before I had to pee again, right yeah, with my bladder.
- 44:25Speaker 3: I mean, shout out Camp, shout out Camp.
- 44:28Speaker 4: I hope he gets to swim the next one. Because
- 44:30Speaker 4: like I said, jobs on finished and also both iron
- 44:34Speaker 4: Man's that I've gone to support friend brother swim got
- 44:37Speaker 4: canceled for both of them. So if the swim gets
- 44:39Speaker 4: canceled in Waco, I can't I can't.
- 44:41Speaker 6: Show up to you got to compete next time that.
- 44:45Speaker 4: They would just get canceled. I can't be near it.
- 44:47Speaker 3: Is he gonna get a tattoo?
- 44:49Speaker 4: I don't think so, because that was another thing. Me
- 44:50Speaker 4: and Diego were like, look at everybody's ankle, they all
- 44:54Speaker 4: have it. If he did a fool, I'd be like,
- 44:57Speaker 4: you gotta get the test you are an iron Man.
- 44:59Speaker 3: Yeah, there was.
- 45:02Speaker 4: I mean the tattoo was very prominent. I noticed that
- 45:04Speaker 4: in Florida, to the first one I went to, everybody
- 45:06Speaker 4: has it in like the same place, like on their
- 45:08Speaker 4: ankle calf area.
- 45:09Speaker 3: The end of the day, iron Man is a scam.
- 45:12Speaker 4: You pay a lot to do it.
- 45:13Speaker 3: Yeah, how much is it?
- 45:15Speaker 4: I forget exactly. I'm sure the fools like way more.
- 45:19Speaker 4: But you have to pay hundreds for the race itself,
- 45:23Speaker 4: and then you know, like the bike, the suit, it's
- 45:27Speaker 4: all expensive.
- 45:29Speaker 3: I think the triathlone here was like one hundred and fifty.
- 45:32Speaker 4: And It's funny because my brother was saying, like, there's
- 45:34Speaker 4: some people with these nice bikes that he was passing
- 45:38Speaker 4: and they were just going snail pace, and he's like
- 45:40Speaker 4: he's sitting there thinking, like, why'd you buy this bike? Yeah, thousand,
- 45:44Speaker 4: you're just going why, Like why are you? Like if
- 45:46Speaker 4: you're not like try, like if you're just doing it
- 45:48Speaker 4: to finish, why did you buy this bike?
- 45:51Speaker 3: There there were bikes that's literally sound like Transformers.
- 45:54Speaker 4: Going yeah, and the professionals. It was funny. They all
- 45:57Speaker 4: like it looked like a face's army. They all out
- 46:00Speaker 4: of the water. They were the same height, like they
- 46:03Speaker 4: all had the same suit on, like all they have
- 46:05Speaker 4: the best gear. They all looked the exact same and
- 46:07Speaker 4: they had like helmets that made him look like they
- 46:09Speaker 4: were from tront Yes, yes, and they all had the
- 46:13Speaker 4: same one. I was like, no, way, Camp has that helmet.
- 46:16Speaker 4: I would have known about that. But Camp edge the
- 46:19Speaker 4: whole race gives the biggest supporter. But I was like, Camp,
- 46:24Speaker 4: you can't be celebrating across the finish line.
- 46:26Speaker 2: I'm glad you didn't know Tron helmets.
- 46:28Speaker 3: No celebrating across.
- 46:29Speaker 4: The Tron hillsers wild. It literally looked like the grid
- 46:32Speaker 4: like people were just running out. They were all it
- 46:35Speaker 4: was insane.
- 46:36Speaker 3: We should do that. There's a Spartan race in Nashville
- 46:38Speaker 3: in October. We should do it.
- 46:40Speaker 4: But five k that's like boot camp, right, it's like
- 46:45Speaker 4: the tough, like a budding brace, like where you.
- 46:47Speaker 1: Go in the mud and the Yeah, there's like there's
- 46:49Speaker 1: like so many obstacles.
- 46:51Speaker 4: There, monkey bars.
- 46:52Speaker 3: There's like monkey bar ones. You gotta.
- 46:56Speaker 1: Carry like like a thing of rocks. Like there's no
- 47:01Speaker 1: point in any of it. But it's just like a
- 47:03Speaker 1: like if you're a Spartan or no. Yeah, I want
- 47:05Speaker 1: to do.
- 47:05Speaker 4: A Spartan and I are man in today's world.
- 47:07Speaker 1: One of the one of these years, I want to
- 47:09Speaker 1: do high rocks and I think, Jack, you're gonna you
- 47:11Speaker 1: would be.
- 47:12Speaker 6: Yeah, my gym is huge. High rocks proponents like the
- 47:17Speaker 6: New Age CrossFit. Uh a legit question. There there's five events.
- 47:23Speaker 6: It's a it's inside usually like a convention center, and
- 47:28Speaker 6: you'll run I believe it's yeah, a kilometer. You do
- 47:32Speaker 6: squatted uh medball tosses, you do sled pushes, you do
- 47:37Speaker 6: burpie broad jumps, Yeah, farmer carries and by the end
- 47:43Speaker 6: of it usually like really high competing teams anywhere towe
- 47:46Speaker 6: in like fifty seven minutes, like an hour, and then
- 47:50Speaker 6: anywhere after. That's kind of in it. But yeah, my
- 47:52Speaker 6: gym has some real hard oh shout out booth Camp.
- 47:55Speaker 6: It's a fucking awesome place to get better. But we
- 47:58Speaker 6: have two girls who went to or nationals excuse me
- 48:01Speaker 6: not Nationals glow Globals or whatever they call it. Yeah,
- 48:05Speaker 6: Worlds in France and Place third like their absolute machines.
- 48:09Speaker 6: One's name is literally machine Meg. Shoutow Machine Meg. But
- 48:13Speaker 6: High Rocks is a very intense thing. Jack Jones and
- 48:16Speaker 6: broads are doing it in New York and in May,
- 48:19Speaker 6: so that'll be that'll be fun. But it's high Rocks.
- 48:22Speaker 6: High Rocks h y R o X I think. But yeah,
- 48:27Speaker 6: it's kind of like the new age CrossFit games if
- 48:29Speaker 6: you want with less uh like barbell weighted stuff. It's
- 48:33Speaker 6: more like body work and then med balls and sled
- 48:36Speaker 6: pushes and then kettlebells mer yeah, more like definitely, but
- 48:43Speaker 6: it's it's taken over. If you're in like a gym community,
- 48:46Speaker 6: you've probably seen High Rocks athletes. But yeah, I don't know,
- 48:50Speaker 6: I'm I'm up to talk about it. I'm kind of
- 48:53Speaker 6: waiting to see if the wave dies down. Just stick
- 48:56Speaker 6: with the iron Man.
- 48:57Speaker 4: Check it out of them. Last year with Taylor, Yeah,
- 48:59Speaker 4: I know a murph. No, we're going to do it
- 49:03Speaker 4: lips I think.
- 49:04Speaker 3: But it was a Memorial Day week.
- 49:07Speaker 4: I couldn't remember why. Yeah, that fizzled out.
- 49:10Speaker 3: The booth game does the murph every year? Right?
- 49:12Speaker 6: Yeah? I did two years ago. Definitely will get you
- 49:15Speaker 6: the pull ups and push ups with the way to
- 49:17Speaker 6: vest start eating you alive. But it's for a good cause, man,
- 49:22Speaker 6: so do it.
- 49:23Speaker 1: I think like after last year, every year I want
- 49:26Speaker 1: to do something like physically challenging, but not like it
- 49:31Speaker 1: just kind of like a legit event kind of thing.
- 49:35Speaker 6: Yeah, just on your own. Yeah, because people, you can
- 49:37Speaker 6: do an iron Man just on your own. Yeah, if
- 49:40Speaker 6: you want.
- 49:40Speaker 3: Let's go for a ten mile run for fun, which is.
- 49:43Speaker 6: Insane to do you celebrate that win? Would you allow
- 49:46Speaker 6: the celebration if you did a solo iron Man?
- 49:50Speaker 2: To me, that's way more impressive the solo.
- 49:53Speaker 4: If you did a solo, you don't have everything blocked
- 49:55Speaker 4: off for you.
- 49:57Speaker 2: I don't know verse everyone at that.
- 49:58Speaker 4: I wish I could see the the type of people
- 50:00Speaker 4: want to talk about.
- 50:01Speaker 6: Oh I have a perfect idea, I know exactly, and
- 50:04Speaker 6: then there's just a faceless army. I'm still thinking about that.
- 50:07Speaker 4: See those are the guys who across with like straight face.
- 50:10Speaker 4: I'm talking about the is it raining?
- 50:13Speaker 6: It might be.
- 50:15Speaker 4: There's also a swim canceled. There's also a guy that
- 50:19Speaker 4: ran by in one of the like laps, trying to
- 50:22Speaker 4: be a comedian. He's like, Hi, guys, I really have
- 50:24Speaker 4: the poop right now. I'm like, dude, just run. He's
- 50:27Speaker 4: trying to make the crowd last shut up and people
- 50:29Speaker 4: high five in like all these kids that I know
- 50:31Speaker 4: they don't know. I'm like, come on, Coop is really
- 50:35Speaker 4: a hater, dude, I'm really not. Though there's some people
- 50:41Speaker 4: that I'm just like, you're doing too much and they
- 50:43Speaker 4: respect them for like I couldn't do it.
- 50:46Speaker 3: You could do it.
- 50:47Speaker 4: I could do it. Maybe I'm not gonna try. I
- 50:51Speaker 4: probably pulled something.
- 50:52Speaker 3: We should create our own coup.
- 50:54Speaker 2: It's super short distance, super short swim, but we charge
- 50:57Speaker 2: people like five hundred dollars a person maybe per event.
- 51:01Speaker 2: But tell him you can't get the metal unless you
- 51:03Speaker 2: do you have.
- 51:03Speaker 4: To wear busting like official busing merge just.
- 51:07Speaker 3: For the one event to get canceled.
- 51:10Speaker 4: Yeah, dude, Luckily all the suits that they wear, well,
- 51:13Speaker 4: I think this is how they get you is it's
- 51:15Speaker 4: like a multi purpose, Like it's it's not just for
- 51:18Speaker 4: the like you're not buying the wet suit just for
- 51:20Speaker 4: the swim. It's like a an Iron Man suit, so
- 51:23Speaker 4: it's for all of it. So like you have to
- 51:25Speaker 4: buy so the swim gets canceled even though you bought
- 51:28Speaker 4: this thing for the swim, and guess what it's it's
- 51:30Speaker 4: for everything else, So you're good, you know what I mean?
- 51:32Speaker 5: Did he get money back because the swim was canceled?
- 51:34Speaker 4: I actually don't know how that works. Probably I would
- 51:37Speaker 4: say no, No, I would say no, they still got
- 51:42Speaker 4: like their metal for finishing though.
- 51:44Speaker 1: Did he have like a camp have well, like what
- 51:47Speaker 1: was camp wearing? If that kind of sounds weird?
- 51:50Speaker 3: Ass?
- 51:50Speaker 4: He was wearing like a basic one like he didn't,
- 51:52Speaker 4: you know, describe it more details, guys, you wouldn't even
- 51:57Speaker 4: believe it all black, like there's nothing them to describe.
- 52:00Speaker 3: Just bike. Like the pants I wore were like kind
- 52:03Speaker 3: of like not joggers.
- 52:05Speaker 6: Like biking shorts.
- 52:06Speaker 1: Yeah, like biking shorts and had like a smaller butt
- 52:08Speaker 1: pad and you just swam.
- 52:10Speaker 4: It definitely looked something like I mean, I a gottas
- 52:12Speaker 4: show you all picture I can describe it other than
- 52:14Speaker 4: like a black wet suit looking thing. Yeah, And it's
- 52:17Speaker 4: funny because after that it was it. It was pretty
- 52:20Speaker 4: tight and he's he's chiseled. Hey, strong boy, shout out
- 52:25Speaker 4: camp man. It's funny, goes after the race. He's like,
- 52:27Speaker 4: because if you're doing it for the first time and
- 52:29Speaker 4: you're it's not your whole personality, Like, it's not camps,
- 52:32Speaker 4: but sometimes it is for people, y'all know what I mean.
- 52:36Speaker 2: Dude, I feel like this is truly a stand up
- 52:39Speaker 2: comedy set. Like you no, we all know what I mean. Though, Yeah,
- 52:43Speaker 2: I'm saying you're crushing it too.
- 52:45Speaker 4: But we're talking after and camps, like like, obviously he
- 52:48Speaker 4: wants to do the swim each train for it, so
- 52:50Speaker 4: he's gonna do one more and do the swim. That's decided.
- 52:53Speaker 4: That's fine. He was thinking after like he's like, yeah, like,
- 52:56Speaker 4: I don't have to do it again. I'm like, could
- 52:57Speaker 4: you imagine? Just like they just showed like training like
- 53:02Speaker 4: a few months for this Iron Man and the showing
- 53:04Speaker 4: up being like, yeah, I can do this too, and
- 53:06Speaker 4: they're just quitting and all the professionals like, I think
- 53:08Speaker 4: that's hilarious. Yeah, I think it's more funny to be
- 53:11Speaker 4: one and done than to be a lifer. Could you
- 53:14Speaker 4: just show up and say, yeah, I can do this too.
- 53:15Speaker 4: I'm an ironman. We got on that old by.
- 53:17Speaker 3: All, nothing makes you special.
- 53:19Speaker 4: Yeah, I saw ironmen at the airport. People flew into
- 53:22Speaker 4: little Elm for that.
- 53:24Speaker 2: To your people, I know, we gotta get rolling here.
- 53:26Speaker 2: But this is like one of my uh, one of
- 53:30Speaker 2: my friends, I guess he had a friend that was
- 53:32Speaker 2: going through Navy Seal training and so they did you know,
- 53:36Speaker 2: they made it all the way through to get to
- 53:38Speaker 2: Hell week or whatever, and he was like, dude, the
- 53:40Speaker 2: number one guy in our class, Like he crushed everything,
- 53:44Speaker 2: you know, zero mental breakdowns. But like when they got
- 53:47Speaker 2: to the part where hey, Hell Week's over, congratulations, y'all
- 53:51Speaker 2: have completed the hardest part. YadA YadA, this one guy
- 53:54Speaker 2: was just like, I don't think this really for me.
- 53:57Speaker 2: I'm like, imagine going through Navy seal training with all
- 53:59Speaker 2: these people a quitting and then at the very end
- 54:01Speaker 2: you're just like I don't know if this is really
- 54:03Speaker 2: the life I want.
- 54:04Speaker 4: Same vibe. If camp would have walked away right there,
- 54:06Speaker 4: I would be like, that is awesome, Yeah, hilarious.
- 54:09Speaker 3: I'm sure once he does the full thing, he'll probably
- 54:11Speaker 3: be like, yeah, I'm good.
- 54:12Speaker 4: Yeah, I think that's I think that's where it's going.
- 54:15Speaker 2: Good deal Camp Comstock episode and Mitch Carsley.
- 54:20Speaker 4: Shadowt camp Man.
- 54:20Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, that is that is dope.
- 54:23Speaker 4: And he was just fine after I was like, dude,
- 54:25Speaker 4: I would be dead and that I'd be like Michael
- 54:27Speaker 4: Jordan on the ground. And then and then guys there
- 54:31Speaker 4: were I'm sorry. Last week they had like a massage
- 54:34Speaker 4: table station that all these racers went to and got
- 54:36Speaker 4: the like their legs massage after the race, and it
- 54:37Speaker 4: was just lined up with the like massage table massage.
- 54:39Speaker 4: All these people get massage, not Camp just saying.
- 54:43Speaker 2: I have got one, unfortunately, just to let you know,
- 54:46Speaker 2: but I'd been on that table.
- 54:48Speaker 4: Well, you gotta get in line because there's wait in line.
- 54:53Speaker 4: People like trying to stay loose still like while they're
- 54:55Speaker 4: in line, so they just don't freeze up.
- 54:57Speaker 3: It's out Coop.
- 55:00Speaker 4: Thank you for tuning in to episode forty the Mitch
- 55:02Speaker 4: Carsley episode and then Dirk Daviski episode next week. I'm
- 55:06Speaker 4: actually very excited about that, Dirk goat. Thank y'all for
- 55:10Speaker 4: tuning in.
