- 0:56figure it out um what's
- 1:00going on train olive lido
- 1:04what's going on and Vicki
- 1:10glad you guys could be here
- 1:13regretfully regretfully we
- 1:17have to start off today's
- 1:18lunch hour well on a somber
- 1:20note for the second
- 1:21straight day an icon from
- 1:23my childhood has passed
- 1:27away and today we learned
- 1:32that a guy I watched every
- 1:34Saturday morning and then
- 1:38every Monday night for much
- 1:40of my childhood college
- 1:43life has passed away.
- 1:46So I want to share a
- 1:48highlight from his career
- 1:51and then we'll move on.
- 1:56So this is voted on as the
- 1:59number one highlight from his career.
- 2:04And it is when the great
- 2:06Hulk Hogan body slammed
- 2:08Andre the Giant at WrestleMania.
- 2:11Look at this.
- 2:29I don't believe it.
- 2:30I don't believe it.
- 2:30I'm dropping a big leg.
- 2:31Over for the cover.
- 2:31It's over.
- 2:32Hulk Hogan passes away at
- 2:33the age of seventy one.
- 2:34Yes,
- 2:35every Saturday morning he was on my TV
- 2:37set.
- 2:38When I was a kid,
- 2:39WWF aired every Saturday
- 2:41morning about eleven a.m.
- 2:43And while he was never like
- 2:47my favorite wrestler of all time,
- 2:50I respected him for what he did.
- 2:52The iconic leg drop.
- 2:56His wrestling skill wasn't
- 3:00what made him famous.
- 3:01It was the promos.
- 3:03In the early years,
- 3:04it was all the prayers and
- 3:06the vitamins and all that promoting...
- 3:10great american thing and uh
- 3:13george wang brings up the
- 3:14rocky three cameo as
- 3:16thunder lips uh he was
- 3:19great he just was great in
- 3:21front of the camera he got
- 3:22everybody pumped up ripping
- 3:24off the shirt yeah brother um
- 3:30Yeah, it saddens me that he is gone.
- 3:34It's just crazy.
- 3:35Ozzy Oz was born yesterday,
- 3:37Hulk Hogan today.
- 3:39Crazy, crazy, crazy, crazy.
- 3:41And the fact that he
- 3:42wrestled into his sixties,
- 3:45still did matches, is insane to me.
- 3:48And still,
- 3:49every time he came into an arena,
- 3:52the place went ballistic to the very end.
- 3:56So...
- 3:57Cheers to you, Hulk Hogan.
- 4:00Hopefully you're in a better place.
- 4:03And I'm sure details will be
- 4:04released as the day goes on.
- 4:06This just happened probably
- 4:07within the last thirty
- 4:08minutes or so that the news broke.
- 4:11But yeah,
- 4:12I just wanted to say goodbye to a
- 4:13childhood icon and see you later, Hulk.
- 4:22He was not the governor of Minnesota,
- 4:24Shanna.
- 4:25That was Jesse,
- 4:26the body Ventura and famous
- 4:28for his predator role.
- 4:33But they were both a little
- 4:34loony on the political side.
- 4:35So who knows?
- 4:39I think they were actually
- 4:40friends off outside the ring,
- 4:44but don't quote me on that.
- 4:51But anyway,
- 4:53So that is Hulk Hogan.
- 4:57Now we're going to move into
- 4:58the actual CrossFit space.
- 5:01And a couple of things that
- 5:02happened in the last.
- 5:04Twenty four hours.
- 5:06The first of those is this
- 5:09showed up on Instagram.
- 5:11If you did not see it.
- 5:13Here you go.
- 5:18This will be my tenth year
- 5:19competing at the CrossFit Games and
- 5:22it will also be my last.
- 5:24From stepping on the floor
- 5:25as a teenager to growing up
- 5:27in front of this community,
- 5:29this sport has truly shaped
- 5:31me in every possible way.
- 5:33To everyone who has
- 5:34supported me this last decade, my family,
- 5:38my coaches, my fellow competitors,
- 5:41and especially you guys,
- 5:43I just want to say thank you.
- 5:45It's been a wild ride.
- 5:47I've given everything to this,
- 5:48and I'm excited to see what
- 5:50else I'm capable of.
- 5:51CrossFit has given me so much.
- 5:54Now let's make this the best games yet.
- 5:59So, Brookwell says goodbye.
- 6:03Thoughts about that?
- 6:07Because I have some thoughts.
- 6:09It's very weird to me from
- 6:13watching sports in my life,
- 6:16of all different kinds of sports,
- 6:19It is very rare that an
- 6:21athlete that can still
- 6:23compete chooses to walk out the door.
- 6:29Most times,
- 6:30athletes are shown the door by
- 6:33their body giving up on them,
- 6:34by their body breaking down,
- 6:36or by a team or somebody
- 6:40showing them the door
- 6:42saying that their services
- 6:43are no longer needed.
- 6:46And so I find it odd that
- 6:49someone that's still
- 6:51competing at the highest
- 6:52level would choose to walk away.
- 6:59It doesn't mean that she's wrong in it.
- 7:00It doesn't mean anything like that.
- 7:03But most people that do make that choice,
- 7:07i.e.
- 7:07Michael Jordan, i.e.
- 7:09Brett Favre, i.e.
- 7:11end up coming back.
- 7:14George Foreman, Muhammad Ali.
- 7:16My gosh,
- 7:17you could name eight million
- 7:18boxers that have retired and come back.
- 7:25So I find it interesting
- 7:30that she would make that choice.
- 7:32The other thing is,
- 7:32when you make that choice
- 7:33before the games even start,
- 7:36have you already retired?
- 7:38Does that mean that she'll have a worse...
- 7:41run at the games because
- 7:43well it's my last or does
- 7:46that give you the incentive
- 7:48to go for it more I don't
- 7:53know uh trade olive brooke
- 8:01trying to steal tia's
- 8:02thunder before the games
- 8:06But will she still compete
- 8:07in WFP and other events?
- 8:09Nothing like that is said in this post,
- 8:13so I'm assuming she will,
- 8:15at least for the rest of this year,
- 8:17to complete her contract.
- 8:24Vicky,
- 8:24she finally makes a game shout-out
- 8:26to announce her retirement,
- 8:27but hasn't done much to promote the game.
- 8:29Seems desperate to me.
- 8:33And Shanna could be right here.
- 8:34Maybe she just doesn't love it anymore.
- 8:36Maybe the grind is too much.
- 8:41It could be that.
- 8:46I don't know.
- 8:46It's just like I loved
- 8:49sports so much when I
- 8:50played them that I had to
- 8:52be told I wasn't good enough to stop.
- 8:57you know, you play through high school,
- 8:58you play, I was a four sport athlete.
- 9:00I get to college,
- 9:01I start swimming in college
- 9:03and then I'm just not good
- 9:05enough anymore.
- 9:07Like I just wasn't good enough.
- 9:08And that's why I walked away,
- 9:11but I loved it so much.
- 9:12It would have taken someone
- 9:13telling me you're not good
- 9:15enough anymore.
- 9:17And so it's hard for me to
- 9:18then relate to somebody
- 9:20that actually just falls
- 9:21out of love with it and walks away.
- 9:25Um,
- 9:27And I'm not criticizing her
- 9:29for the decision.
- 9:30It's just really hard for me
- 9:31to get into her headspace
- 9:33as to why that would be the case.
- 9:47I personally think with women,
- 9:48it could be to start a family,
- 9:50and that becomes a factor
- 9:51in still being able to do it,
- 9:53but maybe not wanting to
- 9:54compete and be a mother.
- 9:56That is all a possibility as well.
- 10:04Noah announced his
- 10:05retirement from individual
- 10:06CrossFit games and just had
- 10:07fun his last year.
- 10:09Right.
- 10:09And then he came out of
- 10:10retirement to sign with the
- 10:12WFP for a year.
- 10:15Again,
- 10:16still was competitive when he went out.
- 10:18I don't know.
- 10:24She's just sick of the haters.
- 10:26Of course,
- 10:26that did go through my head as a
- 10:28possibility.
- 10:31In fairness, though,
- 10:32ten years is a long time in the space.
- 10:35And actually,
- 10:35it's her tenth CrossFit Games.
- 10:36I think she's been in the
- 10:37space longer than that
- 10:39because she didn't qualify
- 10:40in twenty three with the foot injury at.
- 10:46At.
- 10:48Yeah, Orlando at the Orlando semifinal.
- 10:52So she didn't make that one.
- 10:53So she's been in it a little
- 10:54bit longer even.
- 10:59She may be done with the scrutiny,
- 11:02sick of the Hiller videos,
- 11:06but at least she did
- 11:07acknowledge CrossFit.
- 11:11And then the clock says,
- 11:12did Hiller's online semis
- 11:13video drive Brooke out of CrossFit?
- 11:16I don't know.
- 11:17Maybe that's why she doesn't
- 11:18love it anymore.
- 11:24She's in JR's Crash Camp promo.
- 11:27Okay.
- 11:33She's had an amazing career.
- 11:36If you look at like a male comparison,
- 11:38she's right there with like
- 11:39a Scott Pan check.
- 11:41Always in the hunt.
- 11:44Did she, I think,
- 11:45I'm trying to think if she ever podiumed.
- 11:51I thought she fell short,
- 11:52but she may have finished third one here.
- 11:54I don't know.
- 11:55It's hard for me to remember
- 11:56off the top of my head.
- 12:00But very,
- 12:00very comparable to like a Scott
- 12:02Pan check year.
- 12:04And if there was a Hall of Fame,
- 12:06she's probably in consideration for that.
- 12:11She did a lot for the sport
- 12:14over the years.
- 12:15I mean,
- 12:15we've all been critical about not
- 12:17promoting the games,
- 12:18but she's not the only one
- 12:19that's not doing that.
- 12:23That's happening from a lot
- 12:24of athletes this year.
- 12:30Always interesting to see if
- 12:31her announcing beforehand
- 12:32takes the pressure off and
- 12:33she competes well.
- 12:35Yeah, that's going to be interesting.
- 12:43I remember...
- 12:47I think it was.
- 12:49Twenty sixteen.
- 12:53Twenty twenty sixteen,
- 12:54maybe twenty fifteen when
- 12:57she first came on the scene
- 12:58as a nineteen year old and
- 13:00she took she took the world
- 13:02by storm at semis and
- 13:05marched right to the games
- 13:06and she was the it girl.
- 13:11It was crazy.
- 13:12It was crazy how well she
- 13:13did coming in at nineteen years old.
- 13:18Um, but anyway, we wish Brooke well, uh,
- 13:22hope she has a great last
- 13:24year at the CrossFit games.
- 13:26Um, yeah,
- 13:32that's all I got to say about that.
- 13:34Um,
- 13:37It's crazy because the women's field,
- 13:39you take Tia and Brooke out of the mix,
- 13:42and, man, it's young.
- 13:44It's young and up and coming,
- 13:46and it's going to be
- 13:46interesting to see what
- 13:47happens with that going forward.
- 13:52Look at the people that just
- 13:53missed out this year, the eight-year-olds,
- 13:56the nine-year-olds that are
- 13:58right there on the cusp.
- 14:00Man, it's going to be sick.
- 14:05So...
- 14:07Another thing that came out
- 14:08in the last twenty four
- 14:09hours is that they
- 14:12announced the demo team.
- 14:15If you did not see this,
- 14:17we talked about this yesterday.
- 14:20From the last three years of demo teams,
- 14:23forty one percent of those
- 14:24athletes are in the games this year.
- 14:27So if you miss the games and
- 14:29you're given the
- 14:30opportunity to do the demo team.
- 14:32Man,
- 14:32it's it's a way to get yourself over
- 14:35the hump to get you back to the games.
- 14:38Forty-one percent.
- 14:41That's better than any
- 14:42batting average in Major League Baseball.
- 14:45That is insane.
- 14:47But this year's team will be
- 14:48comprised of Caroline Stanley,
- 14:52who just missed getting
- 14:53into the games and has been
- 14:56to the games twice.
- 14:58Kyra Milligan,
- 14:59you can see her in the middle.
- 15:02And Christine Kohlenbrander,
- 15:05who is right there.
- 15:09Then we have Raph Sanson,
- 15:14who is the captain of the team this year.
- 15:19We have Royce Dunn over here,
- 15:22old Royce-y boy.
- 15:24And Nate Ackerman.
- 15:27Nate Ackerman right there
- 15:28made it on the demo team.
- 15:30So I would say for people
- 15:32like Caroline and Kyra and Nate,
- 15:36this is a great opportunity
- 15:38for them to work with Dave,
- 15:40see how things work,
- 15:41test out workouts at the
- 15:43games and maybe get those
- 15:45little pieces and nuggets that make them,
- 15:49uh, make them better.
- 15:53So congratulations to them
- 15:54for being on the demo team.
- 15:57Um,
- 16:01Judy says justice for Nate Ackerman.
- 16:03Yeah.
- 16:03I don't think that this is justice,
- 16:05but he should learn.
- 16:07It should,
- 16:07if he takes it as a learning experience,
- 16:09it can be really, really good for him.
- 16:16Amanda says,
- 16:17Nate really needed to be on there.
- 16:21Some great people in that demo team.
- 16:23This three are awesome
- 16:25feedback points for Dave too.
- 16:27Yeah.
- 16:31And what's funny is you have Royce,
- 16:34who is just a strength savage,
- 16:37like testing the back squat,
- 16:38things like that.
- 16:39Christine Kohlenbrander,
- 16:40strength savage on the women's side.
- 16:43It's a nice mix of talent
- 16:46with Kyra being a great gymnastics person,
- 16:51Nate Ackerman being kind of
- 16:53good all around,
- 16:55and Roth being a great gymnastics person.
- 17:00Yeah, I think it's going to be great.
- 17:03Is demo team a paid position?
- 17:05I do not know.
- 17:07I know their trip there is paid for,
- 17:10and then they get a kit
- 17:11just like the athletes do,
- 17:12but it just says demo team
- 17:13on it instead of their name.
- 17:16But Carolyn was on the demo
- 17:17team two years ago.
- 17:19It's something we can
- 17:19definitely ask her this weekend.
- 17:25I still don't know who the
- 17:26team captain is.
- 17:28Raf Sanson is an athlete out of Mexico.
- 17:31He lives in California now.
- 17:33He has been testing for Dave
- 17:34for years and years prior
- 17:37to it getting to the final
- 17:39testing stages.
- 17:43He was a semifinal athlete,
- 17:44regionals athlete for years and years.
- 17:48I think he went to the games
- 17:49in the earlier years,
- 17:52but Dave has been using him
- 17:54as a tester for a very long time.
- 17:58So, yeah, so he's the captain.
- 18:02He's actually a great pick
- 18:03for a captain because he
- 18:05has worked with Dave for many years.
- 18:07And he's going to understand
- 18:08what Dave wants,
- 18:09the type of feedback he wants.
- 18:11He's going to be able to
- 18:12coach these other athletes
- 18:14to do what's needed and to
- 18:22give the necessary feedback
- 18:24so that they can make the
- 18:25adjustments they need to
- 18:26leading up to the games.
- 18:36um it's not it's not samson
- 18:44it's sanson I believe
- 18:48s-a-n-c-e-n sanson no one's
- 18:57gonna understand caroline
- 19:01yeah she's got a thick southern draw
- 19:05But I think she's easier to
- 19:06understand than Ricky Gerrard.
- 19:08I'll say that.
- 19:12Chris says they get paid in shrewd bucks.
- 19:15That's high quality currency right there.
- 19:22So that's all the good news
- 19:24about the demo team.
- 19:25It's a great opportunity for the athletes.
- 19:27Again,
- 19:28forty one percent from the last
- 19:29three years have made it to the games.
- 19:31Subsequently.
- 19:33But here's the thing that sucks about it.
- 19:39Many of these people are
- 19:40associated with camps.
- 19:41They're being given
- 19:42information and intel about
- 19:44events that are coming up
- 19:46that in every year we
- 19:51speculate whether there are
- 19:53leaks about events and
- 19:55things of that nature.
- 19:58One of these members is the
- 20:00girlfriend fiance of a
- 20:02coach at proven Caroline.
- 20:05Stanley is a athlete at
- 20:09proven you have Nate
- 20:11Ackerman and Royce Dunn who
- 20:13are mayhem athletes.
- 20:16And it just brings into
- 20:17question the conflict of
- 20:20interest every single year,
- 20:24every single year.
- 20:28and that's what I that's
- 20:33what I worry about with the
- 20:34this testing if you've been
- 20:36watching the show for any
- 20:37length of time it's
- 20:38something that we we talked
- 20:41about last year with sydney
- 20:42wells being on the demo
- 20:43team and brooke wells being
- 20:45in the competition how do
- 20:46twin sisters not share information
- 20:51Now you've got a fiance of a
- 20:54coach at proven who's
- 20:56coaching a lot of the
- 20:57athletes that are competing.
- 20:59You're telling me that
- 21:00nothing's going to be said between her.
- 21:03And so we're talking Kyra and Kiefer.
- 21:07Nothing's going to be said
- 21:08between them in the time
- 21:09leading up to the games.
- 21:11The only bright spot is I
- 21:13don't think they're even
- 21:14getting to the games until Monday,
- 21:16Sunday or Monday.
- 21:21So hopefully by that point,
- 21:23it's not such an advantage
- 21:25that it makes a huge
- 21:30difference in what happens next weekend.
- 21:37Mark Phillips, release early and often.
- 21:40That's the only way to level it, right?
- 21:42I really do believe that
- 21:43that is the only way to get
- 21:44away from this.
- 21:47is unknown and unknowable is
- 21:50going to be harder and
- 21:51harder to maintain as we
- 21:53move forward if this sport is to grow.
- 21:58Leaks on leaks.
- 22:03Yeah, honey, we can't tonight.
- 22:04I'm sore from testing heavy yolks.
- 22:10Is that a direct quote, CrossFat,
- 22:12or just speculation?
- 22:19I mean, at this point,
- 22:20there isn't much you can do
- 22:21even if there are leaks, right?
- 22:25And I will tell you this, too.
- 22:28When I was a volunteer in Seventeen,
- 22:31there were changes to our
- 22:32events minutes before we went live.
- 22:36Minutes before.
- 22:38So it doesn't mean that just
- 22:39because the event is this
- 22:41way on Monday that it's
- 22:43going to be that way on Saturday.
- 22:47Um, so who knows, but I, you know,
- 22:56that has been, that,
- 22:58that has been one of the
- 22:59topics that we have talked
- 23:00about on this show for a long,
- 23:02long time is the conflict
- 23:05of interest with the demo
- 23:06team and the NDA is not
- 23:08holding up like they used to.
- 23:10Um, but we'll see, we'll see again.
- 23:12They're only, they're bringing them in,
- 23:15um,
- 23:18They'll bring them in, I think,
- 23:19Sunday or Monday,
- 23:20and so it's not a lot of
- 23:21time to get intel prior to the event.
- 23:26Our old friend Charlie.
- 23:28If you're terrible at something,
- 23:29you're not getting better
- 23:30at it that quick.
- 23:31True.
- 23:33I think where it played in a lot is...
- 23:39like the the crossover
- 23:40double unders when they
- 23:41were a secret some people
- 23:42had the ropes they needed
- 23:44to do it some didn't it
- 23:46could it could mean a big
- 23:47difference in just the
- 23:49equipment you have um and
- 23:56here's carolyn uh they
- 23:57normally arrive the
- 23:58friday-ish so most likely
- 24:00tomorrow and we'll begin
- 24:01testing right away this
- 24:03weekend both team and individual events
- 24:24Joseph Ramirez.
- 24:25I hope this is sarcasm.
- 24:26All the events for next
- 24:27year's twentieth game
- 24:28should be locked down until
- 24:30the first day.
- 24:30No testing.
- 24:31Just get it right after it.
- 24:34Yeah,
- 24:34I don't think that is ever going to
- 24:35happen.
- 24:38Yes,
- 24:39the great Carolyn Prevost has arrived.
- 24:45Nick B,
- 24:46four-time gear team volunteer here.
- 24:52Changes are guaranteed on
- 24:53the fly after their war room meetings.
- 24:55Roll with it.
- 24:59Judy didn't realize testing
- 25:00and demo team were different.
- 25:02They are.
- 25:03They're very different.
- 25:04Testing at the ranch is that
- 25:06Dave just brings in like
- 25:08one athlete at a time to run some tests.
- 25:11And if you look at their
- 25:12behind the scenes videos,
- 25:14like he had Raph or Ben
- 25:17Smith do a piece of the
- 25:18workout and then he had Allison come in,
- 25:21they weren't in there
- 25:22together necessarily.
- 25:24and so he has like one or
- 25:25two people doing some
- 25:26things when it's demo team
- 25:28they have like war room
- 25:29meetings they they're
- 25:30trying it on the floor for
- 25:31the first time adjustments
- 25:33are going to need to be
- 25:34made and so he needs the
- 25:36this demo team to be able
- 25:37to run through things in a
- 25:39moment's notice to see if
- 25:40it works at the venue um so
- 25:44it's it's very different
- 25:53In certain movements,
- 25:54even a day can make a difference.
- 25:56A comp I did last month
- 25:57programmed double taps, the grid movement,
- 26:00and released it a couple
- 26:01days before the comp.
- 26:02I learned them in a day.
- 26:06Well, that's because you're awesome, Lito.
- 26:15I did want to let you guys know that...
- 26:17Due to demand,
- 26:19I did order some Get Jazzed
- 26:22stickers that I'm going to
- 26:23have with me at the games.
- 26:26And I also have reached out
- 26:27to my designer to come up
- 26:30with a shirt that is
- 26:34Clydesdale Media Get Jazzed.
- 26:38I will not have those by the games.
- 26:40She's just starting the design now.
- 26:42But I'm hoping to have those
- 26:44by the Masters games.
- 26:47so hopefully we'll have some
- 26:48t-shirts but I'll
- 26:49definitely I put a rush
- 26:51order on the sticker so
- 26:52hopefully I'll have those
- 26:52for the games and with me
- 26:54at the games next week if
- 26:56you're interested in one
- 26:57just come see me and uh
- 27:01I'll hand them out for free
- 27:05so uh when am I going to
- 27:10albany jody wants to know
- 27:11so I'll the original plan
- 27:13was to be there wednesday
- 27:16I may be adjusting that plan
- 27:18to get there on Tuesday.
- 27:20Um, so, uh, we'll see.
- 27:24We'll we'll see.
- 27:26I want it to be there for, um,
- 27:31I want it to be there for
- 27:32the registration if I could be.
- 27:35Um, it's just,
- 27:36I gotta get another day off of work.
- 27:42Yay, get jazz t-shirts.
- 27:44Need a Clydesdale playing the saxophone,
- 27:46get jazzed.
- 27:48Hell yeah, Clydesdale swag.
- 27:50So she's an artist,
- 27:53the person I have do my designs.
- 27:55And she's the one that
- 27:56created the Clydesdale
- 27:58holding the barbell.
- 27:59I just give it to her to see
- 28:00what she thinks is best.
- 28:02I tried not to lead her in any direction.
- 28:05I just wanted to see kind of
- 28:06what she thought of it.
- 28:08And at first she thought
- 28:09jazz just like sparkle glitter.
- 28:12And I had to like, no, no,
- 28:13I mean like new Orleans jazz.
- 28:15So I hope that, uh,
- 28:19I think I have her on the right track now,
- 28:21but, uh, once I get a logo done, I'll,
- 28:24I'll put it out to you guys.
- 28:24You can see what it is and
- 28:27see what happens.
- 28:31I take Clydesdale tournament
- 28:32to the Zatarain's man.
- 28:38uh heard heard will be at
- 28:41the masters games but also
- 28:42in cognito and albany or
- 28:44albany why do they change
- 28:46the pronunciation of things
- 28:48it was adidas my whole life
- 28:50now it's adidas now albany
- 28:52became albany I mean I have
- 28:54family that lives right
- 28:55outside of albany and
- 28:57they've never called it
- 28:58albany they've always
- 28:59called it albany and now
- 29:01I've got to change it now
- 29:02in my what the hell people
- 29:14I know it's not,
- 29:14but I can't help but see
- 29:15that container as a thing
- 29:17of Parmesan on your right.
- 29:18Yeah, those are Lysol wipes, Mark.
- 29:21Those are to wipe down my desk down here.
- 29:30Enhanced arrival time.
- 29:31Nice.
- 29:35Judy, you never have to buy the sticker.
- 29:37It's yours for free.
- 29:41Nick B, Lauren getting enhanced access,
- 29:43fake news, or for real?
- 29:45I don't know.
- 29:47I don't know for sure.
- 29:48I've seen things on both sides,
- 29:50and I was getting a little
- 29:51worked up about it, and I thought,
- 29:52why am I getting worked up about it?
- 29:54What does it matter if she has it or not?
- 29:58I have mine, and that's all that matters,
- 30:00right?
- 30:03but I will tell you that she
- 30:05did DM me yesterday and we
- 30:09had a conversation and it
- 30:12was interesting to say the least,
- 30:16but if she does have it, I wanted to,
- 30:21I'm glad she reached out
- 30:23and I wanted to get it out
- 30:24of any kind of beef we had
- 30:26kind of out of the way
- 30:27before we got to Albany.
- 30:30Um,
- 30:31So I don't know whether she did or didn't,
- 30:34but we had a conversation
- 30:35yesterday and we'll see how that goes.
- 30:48What else do we have?
- 30:58In America, it's Adidas.
- 31:01You know,
- 31:02I think Corey had the best argument.
- 31:03Like, when I listen to a Run-DMC album,
- 31:06they never say Adidas.
- 31:08So... Off-topic,
- 31:16have you acknowledged the
- 31:17death of the Hulk?
- 31:18Yeah, right off the top,
- 31:19I played him at
- 31:21WrestleMania slamming Andre the Giant,
- 31:24and we said our goodbyes then, Charlie.
- 31:27I know you're probably...
- 31:30You're probably devastated by that news.
- 31:40Lauren has enhanced.
- 31:41She didn't request it.
- 31:42HQ gave it to her.
- 31:43Same with MCU.
- 31:49According to Mike Halpin.
- 32:00Yeah, CrossFit, I mean, it's old.
- 32:01I'm old,
- 32:02but that's what it's always been for me.
- 32:04I blame Tyler Watkins.
- 32:12It doesn't matter if she has
- 32:13access if no one watches the content.
- 32:17I just had to remember that
- 32:18it doesn't really matter.
- 32:20It just doesn't matter for me.
- 32:22I have the access.
- 32:23I need to do what I want to do.
- 32:25And she can have whatever
- 32:26access they give her or she
- 32:27takes or whatever.
- 32:35I heard she took your table
- 32:36and you're outside the room again.
- 32:38I don't need, I don't need a room.
- 32:43Judy Reed becomes a member.
- 32:45That's awesome.
- 32:45Thank you so much, Judy.
- 32:47And you know what that means?
- 32:49As I put out vignettes from
- 32:50this coming week,
- 32:52as we're up at the games,
- 32:54you will get them twenty
- 32:55four hours before they
- 32:56release to the public.
- 32:58Members will get them twenty
- 32:59four hours ahead of time.
- 33:06Where's Charlie been?
- 33:07I ask the same thing, Trent Olive.
- 33:10I miss that dude so much.
- 33:21um wow uh kevin quick fact I
- 33:28grew up in new albany
- 33:29indiana the settlers came
- 33:32from albany new york and
- 33:34tool the new took the new
- 33:36york from new york and the
- 33:38albany from albany and call
- 33:40it new albany wow we have
- 33:42our very own cliff claven
- 33:44thank you so much kevin
- 33:50We're in America.
- 33:50We say things however we want to.
- 33:55What you going to do when
- 33:56Big Clyde's tail runs wild on you?
- 34:00You're going to get jazzed.
- 34:04All right, guys.
- 34:07else do we got so there's
- 34:10going to be some cool stuff
- 34:11at the games this year I
- 34:13just want to highlight that
- 34:14too I think it's awesome
- 34:16that crossfit is starting
- 34:18to do partnerships
- 34:22We knew about the
- 34:22partnership with the ruck race.
- 34:25Ruck race will be going Saturday morning.
- 34:27If you didn't see it this morning on Savan,
- 34:30he had the ruck race people
- 34:31on talking about it.
- 34:32It's going at like five thirty a.m.
- 34:34on Saturday morning.
- 34:36If you want to go ruck with
- 34:37them and and then the day
- 34:39is over and you can get
- 34:40back to everything else.
- 34:43But also we're going to have
- 34:45arm wrestling at the games
- 34:47with Travis Bajent,
- 34:49a twenty-some time arm
- 34:51wrestling champion.
- 34:52He's going to be arm
- 34:53wrestling fans for prizes at the arena,
- 34:58which is really super cool.
- 35:00Anytime you can add
- 35:01additional entertainment
- 35:03around what you're doing,
- 35:05that's what growth in your event can be.
- 35:09It's new people, new eyes,
- 35:11more things to do,
- 35:13making it more of a
- 35:14festival type attitude.
- 35:16I think that's what we lost
- 35:18when we went from Madison
- 35:19with this big open area to an arena.
- 35:24They've got to find creative
- 35:25ways to bring back that
- 35:27festival style attitude.
- 35:30And especially if they can
- 35:31do that around vendor
- 35:32village to draw people in
- 35:35and be around the vendors
- 35:36to make the vendors happy.
- 35:38If you make the vendors happy,
- 35:40then they're willing to
- 35:41invest more into your event.
- 35:47So that's awesome.
- 35:53And I hope that you guys, if you're going,
- 35:55you take advantage of some of that stuff.
- 36:11Yes.
- 36:12Now, that's Norm, Jay Birch.
- 36:15It's a doggy dog world,
- 36:16and I'm wearing milk bone underwear.
- 36:19My favorite of the Normisms is,
- 36:22what are you up to, Norm?
- 36:24And he says,
- 36:25I'm up to my ideal weight if I
- 36:26was twelve feet tall.
- 36:32What the rock?
- 36:36You should arm wrestle Tommy.
- 36:39We'll see.
- 36:41I could do that.
- 36:44We need Travis versus JY.
- 36:46That would be funny.
- 36:48That would be funny.
- 36:58Um,
- 37:01Madison was perfect.
- 37:03I wouldn't say that.
- 37:04I like the open air.
- 37:08First of all, the outdoor field.
- 37:10We talked about our favorite
- 37:11events of all time,
- 37:12and all of them were outdoor fields,
- 37:16which I think says something.
- 37:18Maybe the games need to
- 37:19think about it being an
- 37:21outdoor event in the future.
- 37:23I know you have weather issue, but gosh,
- 37:26you can do so much outside
- 37:28that you can't do inside.
- 37:31But anyway,
- 37:33that arena was so old in
- 37:35Madison and so many broken
- 37:37seats and it didn't have
- 37:40all the cool video screens
- 37:42and all that stuff there.
- 37:44The one cool thing about
- 37:46Fort Worth that is going to
- 37:48get lost in everything that
- 37:49happened last year is you
- 37:51could see replays.
- 37:52You could look up at the big
- 37:53screen and see things like
- 37:54when they ran outside.
- 37:57It just added a lot to the
- 37:59experience as a spectator.
- 38:01The seats were way more
- 38:02comfortable in Fort Worth.
- 38:05The concessions were way better.
- 38:08And they seem to be more
- 38:10accommodating to
- 38:11CrossFitters as opposed to
- 38:13just general concessions.
- 38:17So those are some of the
- 38:18things that I think you miss.
- 38:28Yeah,
- 38:28don't tell cash you're wearing milk
- 38:29boat underwear.
- 38:31That would be a huge mistake.
- 38:35The street by the arena will
- 38:36be closed to car traffic.
- 38:38Yeah, I heard that.
- 38:38They're going to set up some
- 38:39stuff out there, which is incredible.
- 38:41That's a great way to draw people in,
- 38:44make it easy access to get
- 38:46to things like Vendor
- 38:47Village and some of the
- 38:49workouts and things that are going on.
- 38:52Really, really great.
- 39:00Okay.
- 39:07maybe do it at a venue where
- 39:09you don't build a temporary stadium.
- 39:12Here's,
- 39:13here's what blows me away is the
- 39:15best attended piece of a
- 39:17CrossFit games was when
- 39:19they did the track event at
- 39:21the high school stadium.
- 39:23There are high school
- 39:23stadiums all over the country,
- 39:26not being used.
- 39:29Why not use that type or a
- 39:31call it like a smaller
- 39:33college stadium where
- 39:36Why not do something more
- 39:37like that so that it's open air,
- 39:42you can bring in the big equipment,
- 39:43you can do all the running
- 39:45and the fun stuff outside,
- 39:47probably way cheaper rent
- 39:49than it would be to get an
- 39:51actual professional arena.
- 39:59Yeah.
- 40:06Yeah,
- 40:06Madison wasn't even the nicest arena
- 40:07in Madison.
- 40:12It was a great venue in Fort Worth.
- 40:14Media space was nice as well
- 40:15as on-site versus a building over.
- 40:20Yeah, it was a great venue.
- 40:29Every decent college
- 40:30athletics facility is TV-friendly,
- 40:33tailgate space, hotels.
- 40:38A military base would be cool,
- 40:39but the access would be a
- 40:40pain in the ass.
- 40:43Bunches of small colleges around Albany.
- 40:46Yeah,
- 40:46I just think it's just a cool concept.
- 40:49We showed last year,
- 40:52by doing that track event, they had like,
- 40:54sixteen thousand people there.
- 40:57Like,
- 40:57that's more than there's been at any
- 40:58other... And that was after
- 41:01the death of Lazar.
- 41:02They still had all those
- 41:04people in the stadium.
- 41:06It just it just kind of
- 41:07makes sense maybe too much
- 41:09sense to look for things like that.
- 41:17It was well attended because
- 41:18it was free admission.
- 41:19Yeah,
- 41:19but it was probably cheaper to rent
- 41:21to and maybe if you could
- 41:23lower the ticket prices,
- 41:24you'd get more people in the stands.
- 41:33I don't know just a thought.
- 41:37so the last thing I'm gonna
- 41:39leave you with before I
- 41:40have to get back to work is
- 41:42uh weren't a majority of
- 41:44the events in carson
- 41:45outdoors I think they were
- 41:46all outdoors the tennis
- 41:52stadium was open air and
- 41:53the soccer stadium was open air
- 42:04except the ill-fated broad
- 42:05jump that was a that was a
- 42:07rough year I get what they
- 42:09were doing but man that was
- 42:11that was not spectator
- 42:13friendly at all um City of
- 42:23Fort Worth was technically
- 42:24free city and state paid
- 42:26CrossFit so even better than free wow
- 42:35Yeah, I can't beat that.
- 42:36Last thing I'm going to
- 42:37leave you with is I know
- 42:40people are still digging in
- 42:41to find out what happened.
- 42:43I've reached out myself,
- 42:45but Saxon Pancheck, it appears,
- 42:47is no longer with the World
- 42:49Fitness Project.
- 42:50If you look at his Instagram,
- 42:52any reference to the World
- 42:53Fitness Project is missing
- 42:55from his bio where
- 42:58everybody else who works
- 42:59for them has it clearly
- 43:01stated that they work for them.
- 43:03I know Jenny from Dense
- 43:04Updates has reached out to
- 43:05them asking for clarification on that.
- 43:09And they said due to their
- 43:10employment policies,
- 43:11they could not say what had happened.
- 43:18And I will say this.
- 43:20I've known Saxon since since
- 43:22two thousand sixteen.
- 43:25He was a frequent visitor to
- 43:27my first gym and helped out
- 43:30in charity events there all the time.
- 43:34We became pretty close friends.
- 43:36He's one of the athletes I
- 43:37actually have a phone number for.
- 43:40And when he first joined the WFP,
- 43:42I tried to reach out to him
- 43:43to get a statement and even
- 43:44have him on the show.
- 43:46I did not get a response,
- 43:48which was very unlike him.
- 43:50But every dealing I've had
- 43:52with Saxon up until the
- 43:54last six months has been an
- 43:55amazing experience.
- 43:58I don't know what happened.
- 44:00I don't know what made him go to the WFP.
- 44:03It is baffling to me to this day.
- 44:06And now he's left.
- 44:09And I'm really curious to
- 44:11know what the change was
- 44:13that prompted him to go and
- 44:15that prompted him to leave.
- 44:17And I'm hoping that I can
- 44:18get in touch with him about all of that.
- 44:21Whether I can get him on air or not,
- 44:22I don't know.
- 44:23But I'd really like to at
- 44:24least have a conversation
- 44:25with him to find out what happened.
- 44:31One of my biggest criticisms
- 44:33with the WFP is they really
- 44:35suck at timing.
- 44:38You have this big lull from
- 44:40tour stop one to tour stop
- 44:41two and CrossFit had a lull
- 44:44and you didn't take
- 44:46advantage of any of that to
- 44:48be the number one story in the sport.
- 44:51You could have put out content.
- 44:52You could have put out the rec league,
- 44:55whatever it was.
- 44:57Then you wait until right
- 44:58before the CrossFit games
- 45:00and you throw out a rec
- 45:01league that then nobody is
- 45:03even paying attention to
- 45:05because we're all in games mode.
- 45:08They are terrible,
- 45:10terrible at scheduling
- 45:11things and timing with anything.
- 45:16When they first come out,
- 45:18I wanted to support them
- 45:19enough to see if their concept worked.
- 45:23But their execution at this
- 45:24point has made me give up
- 45:26all hope on them and give
- 45:28up all support of them as
- 45:30we are moving into tour stop two.
- 45:33I have no faith now that
- 45:35they can make anything work.
- 45:40They have blown every chance
- 45:42that they have.
- 45:47Blown it.
- 45:51By just shitty timing.
- 45:57We were all dying for
- 45:58content for three months.
- 46:03Dying for content,
- 46:04and you couldn't even take
- 46:05advantage of it.
- 46:11opportunistic in the wake of tragedy,
- 46:13just like move Mac said,
- 46:15shows character of everyone behind it.
- 46:17And I had a rant about that.
- 46:18Gosh, a week and a half ago,
- 46:20maybe when you build your
- 46:22business on somebody else's
- 46:24tragedy or misfortune,
- 46:26that is not a solid
- 46:27foundation to build a business on.
- 46:29You should be building it on
- 46:30your own strengths,
- 46:32not on somebody else's weakness.
- 46:38So they get off on that foot,
- 46:40and they can't even take
- 46:42advantage of the opportune
- 46:44times to push what they're doing.
- 46:48They've missed it all.
- 47:02Not only was I stunned when
- 47:03Saxon went to WFP, I was kind of hurt.
- 47:06As someone who had drank the
- 47:08Kool-Aid so much,
- 47:10so much to see him just
- 47:13throw it all away was
- 47:15mind-boggling and hurtful.
- 47:24Well, with that, guys,
- 47:27my lunch hour's over.
- 47:29Time for you knuckleheads to
- 47:30get back to work as well
- 47:34because karma is a mofo.
- 47:36I thought it was.
- 47:37We'll see if it is.
- 47:43They've kind of let Hulk do
- 47:44that thing where he stands
- 47:46back up after the third time.
- 47:48The ref holds his arm up.
- 47:50CrossFit just stood up and pointed.
- 47:57And as Ernie said, have a great day,
- 47:59y'all.
- 47:59Great show.
- 48:01Thank you, guys.
- 48:02I got to get back to work.
- 48:03You guys get back to work as well.
- 48:05We'll see everybody tomorrow
- 48:06on lunch with the Clydesdale.
- 48:08Bye, guys.
- 48:34And we're still live because...
