- 0:51SPEAKER_05: I listened to it.
- 0:52SPEAKER_05: I I listen I always listen to it, because you always send it to me after we're done.
- 0:55SPEAKER_15: Yeah, you listen to it on the way home.
- 0:56SPEAKER_05: So I listen to it.
- 0:57SPEAKER_05: Well, I listen to it when I get home because I don't want it, because I don't it doesn't, you know, because it's always longer than the ride home.
- 1:02SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 1:02SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:02SPEAKER_05: So I always wait till I get home and listen to it.
- 1:04SPEAKER_05: So I make sure that everything, you know, you know, we're not missing something or you know, something like that, which has happened before.
- 1:10SPEAKER_05: Which is, yeah, exactly, which has happened before.
- 1:12SPEAKER_15: So um no, I listen to it like when I when I have time because and and we had a gig this weekend, yeah.
- 1:18SPEAKER_15: Which just so happened to be about an hour and 15 minutes away.
- 1:20SPEAKER_15: Right.
- 1:21SPEAKER_15: Which is just almost as long as our podcast is.
- 1:24SPEAKER_15: Yep.
- 1:24SPEAKER_15: And you know, when I'm listening to it, I laugh in all the same places, and it it it just makes the hour go by really quick.
- 1:32SPEAKER_15: Oh yeah, yeah.
- 1:32SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 1:32SPEAKER_05: So but my We're only here to amuse ourselves.
- 1:36SPEAKER_05: My daughter.
- 1:37SPEAKER_15: My yes, this is true.
- 1:38SPEAKER_15: My daughter, my youngest, was like um asking me, you know, I said, we were talking about we were driving to school, Finn was driving, and uh was listening to the He's only got a permit, right?
- 1:53SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:53SPEAKER_05: Oh, all right, that's right.
- 1:54SPEAKER_15: And so we're listening to the radio and uh said something about the old radio show and and that I was Chris O'Brien and blah blah blah.
- 2:02SPEAKER_15: She's like, wait, Chris?
- 2:04SPEAKER_15: I said, yeah.
- 2:06SPEAKER_15: I thought she knew this.
- 2:08SPEAKER_15: Wait, uh how come Chris?
- 2:10SPEAKER_15: I thought you were just O'Brien.
- 2:12SPEAKER_15: And I said, Well, no.
- 2:14SPEAKER_15: I said, Well, my middle name is Chris, right?
- 2:16SPEAKER_15: She's like, Well, Christopher.
- 2:17SPEAKER_15: I was like, Yes, that's that's Chris.
- 2:20SPEAKER_15: And she says, Can't get anything by her.
- 2:22SPEAKER_15: And I said, So you can call me Chris O'Brien.
- 2:24SPEAKER_15: Get it?
- 2:25SPEAKER_15: Chris O'Brien.
- 2:26SPEAKER_15: And she's like, right?
- 2:31SPEAKER_15: And I said, and Doug's name is Chris.
- 2:34SPEAKER_15: What?
- 2:37SPEAKER_15: Doug's name is Chris, and Bob's name is Chris.
- 2:39SPEAKER_15: She's like, Well, I knew that.
- 2:40SPEAKER_15: Oh, yeah, she knew Bob's name was Chris.
- 2:43SPEAKER_15: She says, No, wait, how how where did you get the Bob and Duck?
- 2:46SPEAKER_15: I'm like, have I not told you this story?
- 2:49SPEAKER_05: Haven't we gone over this?
- 2:50SPEAKER_15: I think we have, and she forgot, or maybe she was too young when we when we got over it.
- 2:54SPEAKER_15: That's possible.
- 2:55SPEAKER_15: Anyway, I I I told her the whole story.
- 2:57SPEAKER_15: So it was kind of funny that and I forget that my younger ones don't necessarily know what my older ones know.
- 3:05SPEAKER_15: Right.
- 3:06SPEAKER_15: All the time.
- 3:06SPEAKER_15: Right.
- 3:07SPEAKER_15: So it's, you know, it's just kind of funny.
- 3:10SPEAKER_15: So uh I don't know what let oh, so I was listening to the podcast on the way down to our gig, which was our first uh Star City Syndicate's uh opening gig of our summer tour season.
- 3:22SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 3:23SPEAKER_15: And uh we had about 30 people.
- 3:25SPEAKER_15: Yeah, that's about that that that's about that's that's pretty but that's pretty much what it is every time.
- 3:30SPEAKER_15: Well, that's all they can fit in there.
- 3:32SPEAKER_15: But uh safely.
- 3:33SPEAKER_15: Right.
- 3:33SPEAKER_15: Yeah, and I think it's it's just it's our we like playing there because A, we like the people.
- 3:38SPEAKER_15: Yes.
- 3:39SPEAKER_15: And it's a good way to brush off the dust.
- 3:42SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 3:42SPEAKER_15: Uh, because you know, we're we're coming out of uh winter, you know, only a handful of rehearsals.
- 3:49SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 3:49SPEAKER_15: But we've learned some new songs.
- 3:51SPEAKER_15: So we try out those new songs, and um some of them go over and some of them don't.
- 3:57SPEAKER_15: Actually, I think most of them went over.
- 3:58SPEAKER_15: I think one of them went over, yeah.
- 3:59SPEAKER_15: Yeah, I mean uh there was a couple that we maybe could brush up on.
- 4:05SPEAKER_05: Oh, there's always that.
- 4:06SPEAKER_05: Yeah, so um But that's that's the whole purpose of it.
- 4:09SPEAKER_05: Right, but the crowd never even noticed.
- 4:10SPEAKER_05: I mean we noticed, but we know.
- 4:13SPEAKER_15: So um but I think it was a success.
- 4:15SPEAKER_15: I mean, I think it went well.
- 4:17SPEAKER_15: Everybody had fun.
- 4:18SPEAKER_15: Uh had fun, and and but yeah, I was listening to the podcast on the way down and again, just just oh.
- 4:24SPEAKER_15: And I I mentioned this to you, but uh maybe I'll wait until mixtape to talk about it.
- 4:30SPEAKER_15: I think I'll wait until mixtape to talk about it.
- 4:33SPEAKER_15: Alrighty.
- 4:34SPEAKER_15: Alrighty.
- 4:34SPEAKER_15: So what else?
- 4:35SPEAKER_15: We have a um what's cool about this band that we're in, the Star City Syndicate, is it's made up of nineteen or so just fantastic musicians.
- 4:46SPEAKER_15: Yes.
- 4:47SPEAKER_15: And me.
- 4:49SPEAKER_15: And no, you're included.
- 4:51SPEAKER_15: Oh, that's what we did today, by the way, in my chorus.
- 4:54SPEAKER_15: What?
- 4:54SPEAKER_15: Uh shout out to my cor my high school chorus.
- 4:56SPEAKER_15: Today was the last day with our we had four seniors.
- 4:59SPEAKER_05: Ah, yes.
- 5:00SPEAKER_15: So for the rest of the week they get to have fun and and practice their marching before their graduation on Friday.
- 5:06SPEAKER_15: So big thing.
- 5:07SPEAKER_15: We had a party at it in the chorus room today.
- 5:10SPEAKER_15: I got pizzas and and chips and you know, drinks and stuff like that.
- 5:15SPEAKER_15: And what did we do while we ate our pizza?
- 5:18SPEAKER_15: We watched the Star City Syndicate at the Collins Center.
- 5:21SPEAKER_15: Oh, good.
- 5:22SPEAKER_15: We didn't see that part.
- 5:24SPEAKER_04: He showed us the year.
- 5:25SPEAKER_15: But Demi was don't do this.
- 5:28SPEAKER_15: Demi was at Allstate, and so he's like, You have to show when the kids get up on stage, which I did.
- 5:34SPEAKER_15: And they're like, Holy god.
- 5:36SPEAKER_15: So it was it was it was pretty cool.
- 5:38SPEAKER_15: So um anyway, I'm not sure.
- 5:41SPEAKER_15: Oh, so this band, uh all these uh talented musicians, we glean from for our other bands, right?
- 5:50SPEAKER_05: So well, you know, you know what it kind of reminds me of?
- 5:53SPEAKER_05: Voltron.
- 5:55SPEAKER_05: I'll make the head.
- 5:56SPEAKER_05: I'll make the head.
- 5:57SPEAKER_05: Form of arms, right?
- 5:59SPEAKER_05: It's so true.
- 6:01SPEAKER_15: So so I think the first thing that we did.
- 6:03SPEAKER_15: I call black line.
- 6:05SPEAKER_15: The first thing that'd be a good nickname.
- 6:06SPEAKER_15: Black line?
- 6:07SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 6:07SPEAKER_15: Oh, I like that actually.
- 6:09SPEAKER_15: That's cool.
- 6:10SPEAKER_15: The first thing that we did.
- 6:12SPEAKER_05: I'm no longer Doug, I'm Black Line.
- 6:14SPEAKER_15: Was I dunno how many years ago it was.
- 6:16SPEAKER_15: Five, six?
- 6:19SPEAKER_15: Where Syndicate had uh a gig at the Potato Blossom Festival at Fort Fairfield.
- 6:25SPEAKER_05: Oh, that was three, four years ago.
- 6:26SPEAKER_15: And uh I think it was longer than that, but Might have been, I don't even know.
- 6:30SPEAKER_15: And and there was an opening for another band.
- 6:33SPEAKER_15: So our illustrious leader said Oh no, no, no, it was I'm talking reverend funk.
- 6:39SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I know, but it was the syndicate played on Friday, and they were looking for a band for the s the fireworks on Sunday.
- 6:45SPEAKER_15: Is that what it was?
- 6:45SPEAKER_15: Okay.
- 6:46SPEAKER_05: So we ended up playing on Sunday because the the horns couldn't play close to already playing.
- 6:53SPEAKER_15: Something like that.
- 6:54SPEAKER_15: Yeah, something like that.
- 6:54SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 6:54SPEAKER_15: So anyway, we formed another band.
- 6:56SPEAKER_15: Right.
- 6:57SPEAKER_15: Uh and didn't tell anybody who it was.
- 6:59SPEAKER_15: We called it Reverend Funk and the Congregation.
- 7:02SPEAKER_15: Congregation.
- 7:03SPEAKER_15: Yep.
- 7:03SPEAKER_15: And so people saw that on the program.
- 7:06SPEAKER_15: It's like, oh, I wonder what this is.
- 7:07SPEAKER_15: It's essentially the Star City Syndicate without the horns.
- 7:10SPEAKER_15: Correct.
- 7:10SPEAKER_15: Uh but we did we had we were able to do all kinds of different kinds of songs.
- 7:14SPEAKER_14: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 7:14SPEAKER_15: You know, some rock songs, some I mean, like like classic um, you know, we did CCR, we did the Journey, yeah.
- 7:23SPEAKER_15: Um all kinds of cool stuff.
- 7:25SPEAKER_15: Anyway, so that was kind of an uh an offshoot of the Star City Syndicate.
- 7:30SPEAKER_15: We've never played another Reverend Funk gig, by the way.
- 7:33unknown: No.
- 7:34SPEAKER_15: But it was kind of cool that we were able to do that, and we may do it again in the future sometime.
- 7:39SPEAKER_15: But we also took the rhythm section uh and made our own Skinny Elvis, which we talk about all the time.
- 7:46SPEAKER_15: Right.
- 7:46SPEAKER_15: Which is a 90s uh rock band, uh, which consists of uh our our our drummer, our bass player, a guitar player, you on vocals, and me on guitar.
- 7:56SPEAKER_15: Correct.
- 7:56SPEAKER_15: So there's five of us.
- 7:58SPEAKER_15: And those same five people, in addition to Sarah on piano, uh and well technically Sarah's in Skinny Elvis now.
- 8:08SPEAKER_05: Oh, that's right.
- 8:10SPEAKER_15: She is an honorary member.
- 8:11SPEAKER_15: That's right.
- 8:11SPEAKER_15: I forgot about that.
- 8:12SPEAKER_15: Yes.
- 8:13SPEAKER_15: Um But we s we s we said, let's well, let's do a 90s country band, so then we have Haystack Union.
- 8:19SPEAKER_15: So we Which is basically all of us.
- 8:20SPEAKER_15: It's basically Skinny Elvis.
- 8:21SPEAKER_15: It's Skinny Elvis and Jordan.
- 8:23SPEAKER_15: Chris's wife.
- 8:24SPEAKER_16: Yes.
- 8:24SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 8:24SPEAKER_15: So and so, but we're we're learn we're doing 90s country songs, which is also a different kind of fun.
- 8:30SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 8:31SPEAKER_05: You know?
- 8:31SPEAKER_05: It's really interesting for me because I'm playing guitar and I'm like, hey Doug, you want to sing this one?
- 8:37SPEAKER_05: Not really.
- 8:38SPEAKER_15: Because I don't I don't know this song.
- 8:40SPEAKER_05: I don't know this song.
- 8:42SPEAKER_05: Am I expected to play and sing?
- 8:46SPEAKER_15: What's great about it though, what's great about both of these groups is it doesn't really matter what we're playing.
- 8:50SPEAKER_15: No, it's just we enjoy playing together.
- 8:52SPEAKER_05: Exactly.
- 8:52SPEAKER_05: We like hanging out.
- 8:53SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 8:54SPEAKER_05: It's just an excuse for us all to hang out.
- 8:55SPEAKER_15: Yeah, pretty much.
- 8:56SPEAKER_15: And it's just we're we happen to be doing 90s country in that band.
- 8:59SPEAKER_15: Yeah, that's fine.
- 9:00SPEAKER_15: And so now there is um I guess it's an opportunity for Reverend Funk.
- 9:06SPEAKER_15: I mean, is it it's basically Reverend Funk?
- 9:07SPEAKER_05: It's basically Reverend Funk, yeah.
- 9:09SPEAKER_15: Right?
- 9:09SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 9:10SPEAKER_15: Um so John, our illustrious musical director uh and bass player master bass player extraordinaire, uh landed us a gig uh about three hours away in in is it Bangor or is it Augusta?
- 9:22SPEAKER_15: It's at the Cross Center.
- 9:23SPEAKER_15: It's in Bangor.
- 9:24SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 9:24SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 9:24SPEAKER_15: Um at like a um convention type thing at the Cross Insurance Center.
- 9:32SPEAKER_15: And um they said that they want 80s rock.
- 9:38SPEAKER_15: Well, we don't that's we don't really play 80s rock.
- 9:41SPEAKER_05: That's that's such a broad It is.
- 9:44SPEAKER_05: I mean we could do anything from Devo to uh you know Bon Joey.
- 9:48SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 9:48SPEAKER_05: You know?
- 9:49SPEAKER_15: With Reverend Funk, we did Journey, we did Fleetwood Mac, we did uh In Excess.
- 9:54SPEAKER_15: Mm-hmm.
- 9:55SPEAKER_15: Oh yeah, I forgot about that.
- 9:56SPEAKER_15: We did Find Young Cannibals.
- 9:57SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 9:57SPEAKER_15: I don't know if we ever played it out.
- 9:58SPEAKER_15: Did we play it out?
- 9:59SPEAKER_15: I don't I think we did.
- 10:01SPEAKER_05: Um actually pretty fun.
- 10:03SPEAKER_15: But I mean, things like that that are from the 80s.
- 10:05SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 10:05SPEAKER_15: We could incorporate those.
- 10:06SPEAKER_15: But they also specially requested White Snake.
- 10:09SPEAKER_15: Right.
- 10:10SPEAKER_15: So we'll have to learn something.
- 10:11SPEAKER_05: We're gonna do still of the night.
- 10:13SPEAKER_05: I want to see you do the I do have a violin bow.
- 10:21SPEAKER_15: It's like you got a violin bow in here, so like wicket tone.
- 10:25SPEAKER_08: Everybody was like, whoa.
- 10:26SPEAKER_15: Right.
- 10:27SPEAKER_03: I just don't like the video.
- 10:28SPEAKER_15: So uh I I sent I'm I'm like frantic now because you know, and and somebody mentioned hairband stuff, and I'm like, oh not that I don't like that stuff.
- 10:43SPEAKER_15: It's just the the band that I was in for eight years that played that stuff.
- 10:47SPEAKER_15: Yeah, um, I was the rhythm guitar player.
- 10:50SPEAKER_15: Right.
- 10:50SPEAKER_15: I was not the lead guitar player, so I'm the lead guitar player now.
- 10:54SPEAKER_15: No other animal.
- 10:55SPEAKER_15: So I'm like frantic, like sending emails and or messages, and I'm like, okay, uh, let's make a set list.
- 11:01SPEAKER_15: Who's making the set list?
- 11:02SPEAKER_15: Can somebody make the set list?
- 11:03SPEAKER_15: Because I need to.
- 11:04SPEAKER_05: Which is which is so funny because it's not even till October.
- 11:07SPEAKER_05: I know.
- 11:08SPEAKER_16: I know, but I have to learn this stuff.
- 11:11SPEAKER_15: You know, I could probably play you, I could probably play you an entire set of the these songs on rhythm guitar.
- 11:18SPEAKER_15: Rhythm guitar, yeah.
- 11:18SPEAKER_05: Yes, yeah.
- 11:19SPEAKER_15: But I've never played the lead parts.
- 11:21SPEAKER_05: Yeah, that's that's gonna be a whole new world.
- 11:25SPEAKER_05: A whole new world.
- 11:26SPEAKER_15: So hopefully somebody steps up and uh and uh gives us a list to uh to work with.
- 11:32SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 11:33SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 11:33SPEAKER_15: So but I'm thinking um Robert Palmer, like addicted to love or something like that.
- 11:42SPEAKER_15: Yeah, yeah, that'd be fun.
- 11:44SPEAKER_15: I don't know if that would be fun to to dance.
- 11:45SPEAKER_15: Is that kind of a slow slogan?
- 11:47SPEAKER_15: What was the one we used to do?
- 11:48SPEAKER_15: Um oh um Doctor Doctor Yeah, that would be the new yeah, bad case of loving.
- 11:54SPEAKER_15: I think that would I think that would go better.
- 11:55SPEAKER_15: And you know what else?
- 11:56SPEAKER_15: We did that Eddie Money song.
- 11:58SPEAKER_15: We could do a bunch of stuff that Comic Crossing did.
- 11:59SPEAKER_15: I never even thought about that.
- 12:00SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 12:01SPEAKER_15: What was the Eddie Money song?
- 12:02SPEAKER_16: I think I'm in love.
- 12:04SPEAKER_16: Yeah, we could do that.
- 12:05SPEAKER_15: We could uh uh remember we used to do Joan Jett?
- 12:07SPEAKER_15: Um Bad Case of Loving You?
- 12:10SPEAKER_15: No.
- 12:10SPEAKER_15: Uh no.
- 12:11SPEAKER_15: No uh I Hate Myself for Loving.
- 12:12SPEAKER_05: I Hate Myself for Loving You.
- 12:13SPEAKER_15: Yeah, we did do that.
- 12:14SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 12:14SPEAKER_15: Oh, and uh Melissa would rock that.
- 12:16SPEAKER_05: Heck yeah, man.
- 12:17SPEAKER_05: Oh, yeah.
- 12:19SPEAKER_05: Maybe I'll make the list.
- 12:20SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 12:21SPEAKER_05: You make the list, then you could you know add to it.
- 12:23SPEAKER_05: You know, you can cherry pick the good stuff, you know.
- 12:25SPEAKER_15: I forgot about some of that stuff that Comic Crossing used to do.
- 12:28SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 12:28SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 12:29SPEAKER_05: Jesse's girl, throw that in there.
- 12:30SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 12:30SPEAKER_05: I mean, uh we've been doing it with skinny elk.
- 12:33SPEAKER_15: Well, yeah.
- 12:34SPEAKER_15: So yeah.
- 12:34SPEAKER_15: Uh and I learned the solo.
- 12:36unknown: Yeah.
- 12:37SPEAKER_15: See?
- 12:37SPEAKER_05: Murray, there's one.
- 12:38SPEAKER_05: There's one.
- 12:39SPEAKER_05: Next song.
- 12:40SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 12:41SPEAKER_15: So I'm not like freaking out about it as I normally would, but I am like, okay.
- 12:45SPEAKER_05: Well, I mean, it'll get it'll get there once we get closer to that.
- 12:48SPEAKER_05: Yeah, that's true.
- 12:48SPEAKER_05: I'll probably By September you'll be like, I'll probably be like sick, like physically sick.
- 12:52SPEAKER_05: Like, uh, I can't play.
- 12:55SPEAKER_05: So we'll just lay you down behind the speaker and you can just lay on your back.
- 12:58SPEAKER_15: Right.
- 12:59SPEAKER_15: But I think it would be cool.
- 13:00SPEAKER_15: I mean, we've got Sarah, right?
- 13:01SPEAKER_15: Because it's it's Reverend Funk.
- 13:02SPEAKER_15: So we could do like uh what's uh uh uh Yeah.
- 13:10SPEAKER_05: We could do jump, yeah.
- 13:12SPEAKER_05: Heck yeah, man.
- 13:13SPEAKER_15: Oh no, that no, that would mean I have to learn Eddie's solo.
- 13:16SPEAKER_15: Never mind.
- 13:16SPEAKER_15: Let's not do that.
- 13:17SPEAKER_15: Okay, never mind.
- 13:18SPEAKER_15: Or we or we could do Take that one.
- 13:20SPEAKER_15: Uh oh yeah, that'd be fun.
- 13:24SPEAKER_15: Final character.
- 13:26SPEAKER_05: Who could sing that?
- 13:26SPEAKER_05: It would be Anthony.
- 13:27SPEAKER_15: You think he can sing that high?
- 13:28SPEAKER_15: I think so.
- 13:31SPEAKER_16: I can't do it, so that would have to be Melissa.
- 13:34SPEAKER_16: Yeah, yeah.
- 13:34SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 13:35SPEAKER_15: She could do it.
- 13:36SPEAKER_15: Um, did did we used to do Bon Jovi?
- 13:39SPEAKER_15: Rock Docks did Bon Jovi.
- 13:40SPEAKER_15: Yeah, well, we've never done Bon Jovi.
- 13:42SPEAKER_15: We've never done Bon Jovi, no.
- 13:43SPEAKER_15: Not even well, you and I used to do uh Ride Captain Ride.
- 13:46SPEAKER_15: Yeah, that's acoustically.
- 13:47SPEAKER_15: Yeah, that's and I think we did we still do Living on a Prayer Acoustically.
- 13:51SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 13:51SPEAKER_15: Um and what was there?
- 13:53SPEAKER_05: Was there a Oh Love for Sale?
- 13:54SPEAKER_05: Love for Sale.
- 13:55SPEAKER_05: That was always fun.
- 13:56SPEAKER_15: Um that you and I did?
- 14:01SPEAKER_15: I don't know.
- 14:02SPEAKER_15: Love for Sale.
- 14:03SPEAKER_15: We well wanted.
- 14:06SPEAKER_15: We you and I not like not like we never played it out, but I when we were doing college stuff, we did want it.
- 14:11SPEAKER_08: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 14:12SPEAKER_08: Yeah, yeah.
- 14:13SPEAKER_15: Anyway, I think it's uh a neat challenge and uh challenge.
- 14:17SPEAKER_15: The skinny Elvis has a gig too, don't they?
- 14:20SPEAKER_05: Yeah, we're playing September.
- 14:22SPEAKER_05: Well, we're playing, we're opening for the syndicate.
- 14:24SPEAKER_05: At the fair?
- 14:25SPEAKER_05: At the no at the Potato Blossom.
- 14:27SPEAKER_05: Oh, we are.
- 14:28SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 14:28SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 14:29SPEAKER_05: And then we're playing that first Friday thing at the lounge in September.
- 14:34SPEAKER_05: In September, yeah.
- 14:36SPEAKER_15: Yeah, this is all stuff I probably should know.
- 14:38SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 14:38SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 14:39SPEAKER_15: Uh I'm just gonna take the summer as it comes.
- 14:42SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 14:43SPEAKER_15: I got all kinds of we got stuff to do.
- 14:45SPEAKER_15: So I what I started to tell you was I came home from work today because my wife um does this thing where she um part of her business uh round around this time every year, uh, you see those graduation signs pop up on people's lawns.
- 15:00SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 15:01SPEAKER_15: And she makes those and and sells them.
- 15:04SPEAKER_15: And and um so she has to, it's it's kind of like uh like a drug deal.
- 15:11SPEAKER_05: Yeah, she's gotta like show up in the parking lot and wait for people to come back.
- 15:14SPEAKER_05: Pretty much.
- 15:15SPEAKER_15: Yeah, so they so they got the stuff.
- 15:17SPEAKER_15: They order the sign and they pay her via Venmo or whatever, and then she arranges I'll be at I'll be at the the top of Martin's parking lot for an hour from five to six.
- 15:26SPEAKER_15: And they show up in their cars and they're password is molasses.
- 15:30SPEAKER_15: Most of the time they're paid for, but sometimes like, here was a here how much is it?
- 15:33SPEAKER_15: Okay, then they pass money.
- 15:34SPEAKER_15: I'm sure yeah.
- 15:35SPEAKER_04: Yes, it looks really good.
- 15:37SPEAKER_15: It really looks creepy.
- 15:39SPEAKER_15: But um, so we were doing that today, uh, from five to six, and so when I got home, I was like, because I was just beat from the day, and I was like, we don't have to do that until five o'clock, right?
- 15:50SPEAKER_15: Do you need my help?
- 15:50SPEAKER_15: And she's like, Well, if you want to help, I was like, okay.
- 15:53SPEAKER_15: There's this documentary I've been looking forward to watching, so I'm gonna go see if I can find it.
- 15:58SPEAKER_15: And so I went and it was the Norm's Rare Guitars documentary.
- 16:01SPEAKER_15: I don't know if you've ever heard of Norm's Rare Guitars, it's in uh California.
- 16:05SPEAKER_15: Right.
- 16:05SPEAKER_15: Uh and it's a documentary about this this um guitar store, basically, that's been around forever.
- 16:12SPEAKER_15: And uh I've been itching to see it.
- 16:14SPEAKER_15: It's got a bunch of my favorite players in it, you know, that are featured in it, and Kiefer Sutherland was the producer and blah blah blah.
- 16:21SPEAKER_15: So I I found out it was on Amazon Prime.
- 16:23SPEAKER_15: So I went to look for it, and I could have rented it for$15.
- 16:28SPEAKER_03: That's crazy.
- 16:29SPEAKER_15: I decided not to.
- 16:30SPEAKER_05: Good idea.
- 16:31SPEAKER_15: And then we get a we get a text from our buddy Jeff in North Carolina, who's talking up this yacht rock uh documentary, which apparently is amazing as well.
- 16:42SPEAKER_05: Didn't we watch the trailer for that?
- 16:43SPEAKER_15: I think we hit it, we did, yeah.
- 16:44SPEAKER_15: And we uh I have been wanting to watch it, but I thought it was on something else.
- 16:48SPEAKER_15: But he said it was on Amazon.
- 16:50SPEAKER_15: So I looked for that and I found it.
- 16:52SPEAKER_15: But you have to subscribe to Max Oh yeah, HBO.
- 16:57SPEAKER_15: Yeah, in order to watch it.
- 16:59SPEAKER_15: Right.
- 17:00SPEAKER_15: So uh and that's ten bucks a month, and I'm not I'm not doing that just to watch that documentary.
- 17:04SPEAKER_05: Well, don't you get it like a f uh trial period?
- 17:06SPEAKER_05: I don't know.
- 17:07SPEAKER_05: I think I think if you look at some it'll give you a tripil a trial period like a seven-day trial period.
- 17:11SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 17:12SPEAKER_05: And then so you just watch it and then just cancel it.
- 17:14SPEAKER_15: Well, the funny thing, um when uh my son Finn, we were away and Finn was at home and he wanted to watch uh the Duke, North Carolina game back in March.
- 17:27SPEAKER_15: And there was this app called FUBO.
- 17:30SPEAKER_15: Oh yeah.
- 17:31SPEAKER_15: Yeah, I you've heard of FUBO.
- 17:32SPEAKER_15: Yep.
- 17:33SPEAKER_15: So he says, uh, I can do a trial and watch the game, and then we just cancel it.
- 17:39SPEAKER_15: Uh alright.
- 17:41SPEAKER_15: Sounds good.
- 17:42SPEAKER_15: So he did, and he watched the game, and he forgot to cancel it.
- 17:46SPEAKER_05: Forgot to cancel it, yep.
- 17:48SPEAKER_15: A hundred dollars a month.
- 17:49SPEAKER_15: Are you freaking kidding me?
- 17:51SPEAKER_15: A hundred dollars a month for FUBA.
- 17:53SPEAKER_03: Holy crap.
- 17:55SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 17:55SPEAKER_15: That's insane.
- 17:57SPEAKER_15: I we had it for a month.
- 17:59SPEAKER_15: And we watched a bunch of stuff.
- 18:02SPEAKER_15: Yeah, you might get a hundred bucks worth of and then we can't make sure to cancel it.
- 18:07SPEAKER_15: So a hundred bucks a month for FUBA.
- 18:10SPEAKER_15: Yeah, yeah.
- 18:10SPEAKER_05: Well, that's that's the thing though, now.
- 18:12SPEAKER_05: I mean, there's they're putting special like putting the Super Bowl on weird apps now.
- 18:17SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 18:17SPEAKER_05: And like, oh, you're gonna download this app and you can watch the Super Bowl.
- 18:21SPEAKER_05: Oh, yeah.
- 18:22SPEAKER_05: And then it's like fifty bucks a month after that, and you're like, what the frick, dude?
- 18:25SPEAKER_15: Why can't I just watch it on the hoping people will forget to cancel.
- 18:29SPEAKER_05: And it works.
- 18:30SPEAKER_05: Yeah, it's people forget.
- 18:31SPEAKER_05: I mean, there's like stuff, you know, there'll be times I'll I'll go through my subscription list.
- 18:36SPEAKER_05: I'm like, I don't remember describing it.
- 18:37SPEAKER_15: Yeah, same stuff like that.
- 18:39SPEAKER_15: Absolutely.
- 18:40SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 18:41SPEAKER_15: Um, so yeah, I don't know where I was going with that, but yeah.
- 18:45SPEAKER_15: So um I couldn't watch the Yacht Rock documentary.
- 18:49SPEAKER_15: I really want to watch the Yacht Rod documentary.
- 18:51SPEAKER_05: Well, maybe it'll you know show up later.
- 18:53SPEAKER_15: Yeah, it usually does.
- 18:54SPEAKER_15: It does.
- 18:54SPEAKER_05: I mean it lives on these, yeah.
- 18:56SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 18:56SPEAKER_05: Like especially when it first comes out, they'll put it on these, you know, whatevers.
- 19:00SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 19:00SPEAKER_05: And then after a while, once the you know goes away, you know, all the the hype goes away.
- 19:06SPEAKER_15: Oh, that's another thing I wanted to tell you.
- 19:08SPEAKER_15: I found a podcast that I really like.
- 19:10SPEAKER_05: Uh O'Brien and Doug?
- 19:11SPEAKER_05: I've heard of that.
- 19:12SPEAKER_15: No, that one sucks.
- 19:13SPEAKER_05: Yeah, terrible.
- 19:17SPEAKER_15: Um two monkeys in a basement.
- 19:19SPEAKER_15: So uh not to get political at all.
- 19:23SPEAKER_15: Because usually when we get political, we have to whisper, and I don't want to really want to whip it.
- 19:26SPEAKER_15: Okay, we don't want to do that.
- 19:27unknown: All right.
- 19:28SPEAKER_15: So there's this um do you remember a f a couple years ago, maybe maybe three years ago?
- 19:33SPEAKER_15: Uh uh you wouldn't remember actually, because you don't listen to country music.
- 19:37SPEAKER_15: True.
- 19:38SPEAKER_15: Um Jason Aldean released a song.
- 19:42SPEAKER_05: Oh, not in this town or something.
- 19:44SPEAKER_05: Try that a travel.
- 19:44SPEAKER_05: Try that in a small town.
- 19:45SPEAKER_05: Try that in a small town.
- 19:46SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 19:46SPEAKER_15: Okay.
- 19:47SPEAKER_15: All kinds of controversy.
- 19:48SPEAKER_15: Oh, yeah.
- 19:49SPEAKER_15: Unwarranted controversy.
- 19:50SPEAKER_15: It really wasn't about what everybody said it was about, and the video didn't help uh because it did the video did show, you know.
- 19:59SPEAKER_15: Anyway, it wasn't it was unwarranted controversy.
- 20:03SPEAKER_15: Anyway, the songwriters of that song are huge like hit songwriters in Nashville and are very proud of the song and what it stands for.
- 20:17SPEAKER_15: And so they got a lot of hate um because of that.
- 20:22SPEAKER_15: Oh, I'm sure.
- 20:24SPEAKER_15: And they stood their ground and they started a podcast.
- 20:28SPEAKER_15: So the podcast consists of a uh legendary songwriter named Kelly Loveless, writes a lot of Brad Paisley with Brad Paisley stuff.
- 20:37SPEAKER_15: Um Neil Thrasher.
- 20:40SPEAKER_15: Um Neil Thrasher is a um uh great singer, first of all, but a fantastic songwriter, lights writes a lot of Rascal Flat stuff with his partner Wendell Mobley.
- 20:50SPEAKER_15: Um and and then the other so those those two guys, and then there's two other guys, uh Tully and Kurt, who are in Jason Aldean's band.
- 21:00SPEAKER_15: Okay.
- 21:00SPEAKER_15: So they started this podcast.
- 21:02SPEAKER_15: So is there four people on the podcast?
- 21:03SPEAKER_15: Four people on the podcast.
- 21:05SPEAKER_15: But it's fun to listen to because they're just a bunch, they're just you know, really cool guys.
- 21:09SPEAKER_15: Yeah, they talk about songwriting a lot, they talk about the music industry, they talk about football, they talk about NCAA, they talk about guy stuff.
- 21:16SPEAKER_15: Right, you know, and it's it's really fun to listen to, and they have really cool guests.
- 21:21SPEAKER_15: Um, and some of them are um, you know, like um pundits, you know, um traditionally conservative pundits, sure.
- 21:32SPEAKER_15: Um, and but a lot of them are country singers or country songwriters um that I like listening to because I like learning about the craft and hearing about the ins and outs of how the music business works and stuff like that.
- 21:42SPEAKER_15: So it's fun to listen to.
- 21:43SPEAKER_15: The reason I'm bringing this up is because this week's episode, which I've already listened to, it's on YouTube as well, uh, is the Warren Brothers.
- 21:51SPEAKER_04: Oh, I like those guys.
- 21:53SPEAKER_15: I love the Warren Brothers.
- 21:54SPEAKER_15: Awesome.
- 21:55SPEAKER_15: Um, if you don't know who the Warren Brothers are, they are, and I have I've already shown.
- 22:00SPEAKER_15: You that YouTube video I think I have of their 80s band.
- 22:03SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 22:04SPEAKER_15: Yeah, okay.
- 22:04SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 22:05SPEAKER_05: Well, I'll tell you what, for Wall of Tunes, we'll do Warren Brothers.
- 22:08SPEAKER_05: Oh, that's a great idea.
- 22:09SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 22:10SPEAKER_15: Great idea.
- 22:11SPEAKER_15: Warren Brothers, Brad and Brett Warren, uh are from Florida.
- 22:16SPEAKER_15: And they had, you know, they you should go and listen to that episode of Try That in a Small Town Podcast to hear about because they talk a lot about their life and and and how they got to do what they got to do.
- 22:29SPEAKER_15: But they were in bands uh from a very young age and and uh an 80s rock band, like like legit like I don't remember the name of it, but they're playing like hard rock.
- 22:39SPEAKER_15: Yeah, it was pretty awesome.
- 22:41SPEAKER_15: And and they tell the story in in this episode uh about how they kind of stumbled into songwriting.
- 22:50SPEAKER_15: Uh they came to Nashville, and uh their first co-write was a guy by the name of um holy cow, now I'm blanking.
- 23:00SPEAKER_15: Legendary songwriter.
- 23:01SPEAKER_15: Anyway, they their first co-write was with this legendary songwriter.
- 23:04SPEAKER_15: And um they got a uh a couple of cuts right away.
- 23:10SPEAKER_15: And anyway, fast forward, and they're one of the most respected songwriting duos in the industry, and they have multiple hit songs with Tim McGraw, with Martina McBride, with I mean Sarah Evans, I mean uh all kinds of uh songs.
- 23:27SPEAKER_15: Um Red Solo Cup.
- 23:29SPEAKER_05: Oh, yeah.
- 23:29SPEAKER_05: Which they tell the story which they're on.
- 23:31SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 23:31SPEAKER_15: They tell the story of of how that happened.
- 23:33SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 23:33SPEAKER_15: Did you know I I don't want to give it away because I want you to listen to the episode.
- 23:37SPEAKER_15: You are you gonna uh listen to the episode?
- 23:39SPEAKER_05: Well, you haven't told us what the name of the podcast is.
- 23:41SPEAKER_15: Try that in a small town podcast.
- 23:42SPEAKER_05: Well, that's what it's called.
- 23:43SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 23:43SPEAKER_05: Oh, okay.
- 23:44SPEAKER_15: Try that in a small town podcast is the name of it.
- 23:46SPEAKER_15: And uh but they talk about when they wrote Red Solo Cup and how um it was like a joke.
- 23:55SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 23:55SPEAKER_15: And Toby Keith, this you know, they put it on hold and like, are you serious?
- 24:00SPEAKER_15: You know, which means they hold it so nobody else can record it.
- 24:02SPEAKER_15: Right.
- 24:02SPEAKER_15: And they said, What can you put we want to put that on hold for like a year?
- 24:05SPEAKER_15: You're like, Really?
- 24:07SPEAKER_15: You know, so this so they they did.
- 24:09SPEAKER_15: And then they said, Oh, we're cutting that, and blah, blah, blah.
- 24:11SPEAKER_15: We we're gonna film a video for it.
- 24:13SPEAKER_15: And we want you to so they thought they were being punked.
- 24:16SPEAKER_15: They thought they were pulling their chain, yeah, right.
- 24:20SPEAKER_15: And so we're we want you guys, come on out to the video show.
- 24:24SPEAKER_15: We're gonna we're gonna shoot the video.
- 24:25SPEAKER_15: So the whole time they thought like Ashton Kutcher was gonna show up and say, Oh, you've been punked.
- 24:30SPEAKER_15: And then they they show up and they've got all these cameras and they're actually making a video.
- 24:34SPEAKER_15: And they're like, Wait, this is real.
- 24:38SPEAKER_15: You have to hear them tell it because it's it's really funny.
- 24:41SPEAKER_15: So, yeah, I suggest, and that's on YouTube too.
- 24:43SPEAKER_15: Did I tell you that?
- 24:44SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 24:44SPEAKER_15: It's also on YouTube, so uh, you should go check that out.
- 24:47SPEAKER_15: I I love the Warren Brothers, and that's a great idea to have them as the wall of two.
- 24:51SPEAKER_15: We'll do that.
- 24:51SPEAKER_15: So we'll do that because they've got a quite a catalog.
- 24:55SPEAKER_15: They have a they have one, two, three, three or four albums.
- 24:59SPEAKER_15: Yeah, and that's it.
- 25:00SPEAKER_15: And then they just decided uh well, the funny thing is, is and they tell this story too, they put out those albums and and they released a kind of a greatest hits that said almost famous hits because they never really were like big stars.
- 25:14SPEAKER_15: And then they went and wrote uh a song with somebody and they had uh like a number one hit with it, and they said, Well, we've more made more money with this than we do with this.
- 25:25SPEAKER_15: So let's just do this.
- 25:27SPEAKER_15: So that's all they do.
- 25:28SPEAKER_15: And of course, of course, that's in jeopardy now because of the way the music industry is.
- 25:32SPEAKER_15: Right.
- 25:32SPEAKER_15: Of course.
- 25:33SPEAKER_15: So they're making their money in different ways, and they're still getting residuals from the songs that they've already written.
- 25:37SPEAKER_15: Sure.
- 25:38SPEAKER_15: You know, but still.
- 25:39SPEAKER_15: Um so check that out.
- 25:40SPEAKER_15: Try that in a small town podcast.
- 25:42SPEAKER_15: Uh this week's episode is the Warren Brothers.
- 25:44SPEAKER_15: It's good stuff.
- 25:46SPEAKER_15: Um back to our podcast.
- 25:48SPEAKER_15: Oh, yeah.
- 25:50SPEAKER_15: If you can call it that.
- 25:51SPEAKER_05: It is a podcast.
- 25:52SPEAKER_15: It is a podcast.
- 25:53SPEAKER_05: Because we put it on the interwebs.
- 25:54SPEAKER_15: Okay, so I have a couple of things from um ultimate classicrock.com.
- 26:00SPEAKER_15: Now, one of them is a question and one of them is a list.
- 26:03SPEAKER_15: Which would you like to go with first?
- 26:04SPEAKER_05: Uh let's do the question first.
- 26:06SPEAKER_15: Okay.
- 26:07SPEAKER_15: This is a pretty good question, actually.
- 26:10SPEAKER_15: There's an article on Cl UltimateClassicrock.com that says, What will happen to classic rock once all the icons are done?
- 26:20SPEAKER_05: Ah, an excellent question.
- 26:21SPEAKER_15: You know that even when we were on the radio with our classic rock show on our classic rock radio station, we were playing Soundgarden.
- 26:32SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 26:32SPEAKER_15: And we were playing Metallica.
- 26:35SPEAKER_15: Which today is considered classic rock.
- 26:39SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 26:40SPEAKER_15: You know.
- 26:41SPEAKER_15: But um I was gonna say 25 years ago, but I keep forgetting it it's longer than that.
- 26:47SPEAKER_15: Um maybe 30 or 40 years ago, that wouldn't have been classic rock.
- 26:52SPEAKER_05: No, it would have been like New Rock.
- 26:54SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 26:54SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 26:55SPEAKER_15: Um actually probably 30 years ago, right?
- 26:58SPEAKER_15: 30, 35, 40 years ago.
- 26:59SPEAKER_15: Yeah, cow, that's just weird to think about.
- 27:02SPEAKER_15: Um so we know we know that I I haven't even read the article yet, but we know that Metallica was once modern rock and it's now classic rock.
- 27:18SPEAKER_15: But also um Bruce Springsteen was once modern rock and is now classic rock.
- 27:28SPEAKER_15: Right.
- 27:29SPEAKER_15: Um CCR is still considered classic rock.
- 27:34SPEAKER_15: Right.
- 27:35SPEAKER_15: Um Journey is considered classic rock.
- 27:40SPEAKER_15: Uh even and they came out in the 70s.
- 27:42SPEAKER_15: Right.
- 27:42SPEAKER_15: Their music is still around.
- 27:44SPEAKER_15: Their music has has stood the test of time.
- 27:47SPEAKER_15: A lot of a lot of the classic rock artists that are on the radio right now have stood the test of time.
- 27:52SPEAKER_15: Correct.
- 27:52SPEAKER_15: And we're it's you're just adding to it with these new artists.
- 27:56SPEAKER_15: Now, someone from today in 20 years, are they gonna be considered classic rock?
- 28:03SPEAKER_05: I think that's how it works.
- 28:05SPEAKER_15: Right.
- 28:05SPEAKER_15: But I mean, for example, let's see.
- 28:11SPEAKER_15: Um give me an artist of today.
- 28:14SPEAKER_15: I don't I guess I don't pay attention.
- 28:16SPEAKER_15: Okay, well, uh, Alter Bridge.
- 28:17SPEAKER_15: Okay.
- 28:18SPEAKER_15: Okay, Alter Bridge.
- 28:19SPEAKER_15: Altar Bridge is not currently played on a classic rock station.
- 28:23SPEAKER_15: Right.
- 28:24SPEAKER_15: They'd be played on like a mainstream rock station.
- 28:27SPEAKER_15: Sure.
- 28:28SPEAKER_15: Okay.
- 28:28SPEAKER_15: So does that mean in twenty years, if we have a classic rock station like the one we have in town, and they're playing Metallica, and they're playing Bruce Springsteen, and they're playing Led Zeppelin and Boston.
- 28:39SPEAKER_05: Well, those will all be oldies.
- 28:41SPEAKER_15: You think so?
- 28:41SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 28:42SPEAKER_05: Well that's what And then that stuff will be now classic rock.
- 28:45SPEAKER_15: So you think Altar Bridge will be played on the classic rock station?
- 28:49SPEAKER_05: If they're still around, yeah.
- 28:50SPEAKER_05: If they're still a want for 'em.
- 28:52SPEAKER_15: Okay.
- 28:53SPEAKER_15: So if those if Boston is oldies, what is Dion?
- 29:00SPEAKER_05: Uh I think that we'd put it in the same category as we put uh classical now.
- 29:06SPEAKER_05: Which is what?
- 29:08SPEAKER_05: Super old.
- 29:12SPEAKER_05: Super old.
- 29:13SPEAKER_05: Super old music.
- 29:15SPEAKER_15: Well, you know what they call it?
- 29:17SPEAKER_05: Uh Well, what what did I read that somebody said our orchestras are just eighteenth century cover bands?
- 29:25SPEAKER_05: Eighteenth century cover bands?
- 29:27SPEAKER_05: Orchestras because they're doing all They're all doing like Beethoven, Mozart, Hayden, you know.
- 29:32SPEAKER_15: Well, yes and no.
- 29:34SPEAKER_15: I mean, you have your, and we got into this discussion a little bit, you have your film composers who are your modern day classical composers.
- 29:42SPEAKER_15: Right.
- 29:43SPEAKER_15: And there are orchestras that are doing their music as well.
- 29:46SPEAKER_15: Sure.
- 29:46SPEAKER_15: Matter of fact, um, we're planning a trip um for our music department in October.
- 29:55SPEAKER_15: Um they've done this with John Williams as well, but uh in October, this is because tell me how you cool you think this is.
- 30:03SPEAKER_15: And please remember where we are, because I'll forget how to get back.
- 30:09SPEAKER_15: Um we're in your basement.
- 30:10SPEAKER_15: No, that's not what I mean.
- 30:12SPEAKER_15: So uh the um down at the Collins Center at University of Maine at Orno, I've been there, they are showing um Nightmare Before Christmas on the screen.
- 30:26SPEAKER_15: But below the Bangor Symphony Orchestra is playing the score live.
- 30:32SPEAKER_05: Oh, that's kind of neat.
- 30:33SPEAKER_15: Right?
- 30:33SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 30:34SPEAKER_15: Uh they've done it with Star Wars and the John Williams music.
- 30:37SPEAKER_05: Really?
- 30:37SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 30:37SPEAKER_05: Wow.
- 30:38SPEAKER_15: So we're we're trying to uh take our kids down just to see that because we think it would be kind of a neat trip.
- 30:43SPEAKER_15: That would be neat.
- 30:43SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 30:44SPEAKER_15: So um, so yes, orchestras are playing newer music, but you're right.
- 30:49SPEAKER_15: I mean, for the most part, they're playing two stuff that's 200, 300 years old.
- 30:55SPEAKER_15: Of course.
- 30:55SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 30:56SPEAKER_15: Um but like Dion um the Well, I mean, the Beatles, are the Beatles classic rock?
- 31:05SPEAKER_15: Are they old?
- 31:06SPEAKER_05: Well, right now they're classic rock, technically, because they didn't break up until the 70s.
- 31:12SPEAKER_15: Okay, well, Dion was around in the 70s.
- 31:14SPEAKER_05: Well, that's what I'm saying.
- 31:15SPEAKER_15: Okay.
- 31:15SPEAKER_15: So he's not classic rock.
- 31:18SPEAKER_05: He is rock.
- 31:19SPEAKER_15: Yeah?
- 31:20SPEAKER_15: He's doo-wop.
- 31:21SPEAKER_05: He's doo-wop.
- 31:22SPEAKER_05: He's still rock.
- 31:23SPEAKER_05: I mean, you could you could call it original rock, I suppose.
- 31:26SPEAKER_15: Well, you know what they call it in the industry.
- 31:27SPEAKER_15: Root rock now.
- 31:28SPEAKER_15: No, and what they call it in the industry is gold.
- 31:31SPEAKER_15: Gold rock?
- 31:32SPEAKER_15: No, just gold.
- 31:34SPEAKER_15: That doesn't make any sense.
- 31:35SPEAKER_15: Well, they're they're the the golden era.
- 31:38SPEAKER_15: So like like um the Supremes motel.
- 31:42SPEAKER_05: So like the 50s stuff.
- 31:43SPEAKER_05: The 50s and 60s.
- 31:44SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 31:44SPEAKER_15: Yeah, 50s and 60s.
- 31:45SPEAKER_15: They're lumping it in and calling it gold.
- 31:48SPEAKER_15: All right.
- 31:48SPEAKER_15: And then basically from the 70s to the 90s, classic rock.
- 31:54SPEAKER_15: Classic rock.
- 31:55SPEAKER_15: Okay.
- 31:55SPEAKER_15: And then everything else is is new, newer modern.
- 31:59SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 31:59SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 31:59SPEAKER_15: I guess.
- 32:00SPEAKER_15: So in 20 years, that newer modern is gonna become classic rock.
- 32:06SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 32:06SPEAKER_15: Is it gonna be lumped in with the 70s and on, or is it?
- 32:10SPEAKER_05: I think that's probably what they're gonna do because it's that that m what's modern rock came out of classic rock.
- 32:17SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 32:18SPEAKER_05: That was their influence.
- 32:19SPEAKER_05: Sure, yeah.
- 32:20SPEAKER_05: So it makes sense just to you know keep them all together.
- 32:23SPEAKER_15: Right.
- 32:23SPEAKER_05: You know, yeah, you your album came out in you know, 2000.
- 32:28SPEAKER_15: Yep.
- 32:28SPEAKER_05: It's now what you know, 2050.
- 32:31SPEAKER_05: Yep.
- 32:32SPEAKER_05: You could you're now you're now classic rock.
- 32:34SPEAKER_15: You could argue, though, that um somebody who is I think I think it all depends if your if your band qualifies for an AARP card, you are now classic rock.
- 32:49SPEAKER_15: Right.
- 32:51SPEAKER_15: Um So I think there's a lot of bands that are around today that weren't necessarily influenced by Van Halen or weren't necessarily influenced by Aerosmith, you know, these bands from the 70s.
- 33:04SPEAKER_15: They found them in a roundabout way, but they were influenced by bands from the 2000s.
- 33:11SPEAKER_05: Who were influenced by Exactly, that's what I mean.
- 33:14SPEAKER_05: They found them through by way of those you know, it's the evolution of music comes from.
- 33:21SPEAKER_15: So do you think eventually bands from the 70s, or I should say their music from the 70s, like for example, Aerosmith, um they had a quote unquote comeback in the late eighties.
- 33:37SPEAKER_15: Right.
- 33:38SPEAKER_15: But they but their music from the 70s, like Walk This Way, Sweet Emotion, things like that.
- 33:42SPEAKER_15: Right.
- 33:43SPEAKER_15: Do you think at some point their output from the 70s will be called gold?
- 33:50SPEAKER_15: Like lumped in with I don't think so.
- 33:52SPEAKER_05: I think I think gold is gonna continue to be the origins of rock.
- 33:58SPEAKER_05: Of rock.
- 33:58SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 33:59SPEAKER_05: You know what I mean?
- 33:59SPEAKER_05: Your your Chuck Berry, your you know, your Fats Domino, Spreams, right?
- 34:05SPEAKER_05: You know.
- 34:05SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 34:06unknown: Yeah.
- 34:06SPEAKER_05: I think that I think that's gonna stay that way.
- 34:08SPEAKER_05: And that that's why I think everything from the 70s now is going to be It's an interesting thing.
- 34:15SPEAKER_05: It's gonna be classic.
- 34:17SPEAKER_05: It's gonna be considered classic rock.
- 34:18SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 34:19SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 34:20SPEAKER_15: It's an interesting um thing to think about.
- 34:23SPEAKER_15: Who knows?
- 34:23SPEAKER_15: I mean I haven't even read the article here.
- 34:25SPEAKER_05: I was about to say, we forgot about the other.
- 34:27SPEAKER_15: Time is undefeated.
- 34:28SPEAKER_15: It's a cliche saying, but it's true.
- 34:31SPEAKER_15: Um though rock has always carried on an air of immortality with it.
- 34:36SPEAKER_15: Musicians are fragile humans, just like the rest of us, at some point the Rolling Stones will stop touring.
- 34:40SPEAKER_15: I think they're aliens, so I don't think they're gonna be stopping.
- 34:43SPEAKER_15: No, they're they're they're um always gonna be going.
- 34:47SPEAKER_15: Oh, by the way, um Eddie Trunk the other day on the on Trunk Nation, his podcast, was talking he does this thing where p you can call in and um make heaven's band like like comprise a band made up of uh people that have passed.
- 35:06SPEAKER_15: Right.
- 35:06SPEAKER_15: Like you could have Eddie Van Halen on guitar and this and the I so wanted to call in and say, all right, on guitar, Keith Richards.
- 35:16SPEAKER_15: But I didn't.
- 35:17SPEAKER_15: Anyway.
- 35:18SPEAKER_15: Um He died years ago.
- 35:19SPEAKER_15: Nobody nobody told him.
- 35:21SPEAKER_15: Nobody told him.
- 35:22SPEAKER_15: Uh historically speaking, we've never seen a generational change quite like the one ahead.
- 35:26SPEAKER_15: Sure, music itself has existed for centuries, but music as a commodity didn't really appear until after World War II.
- 35:32SPEAKER_15: In 1948, the first 12-inch vinyl LPs were commercially released.
- 35:36SPEAKER_15: The 50s saw a boom that is now commonly regarded as the birth of rock and roll.
- 35:39SPEAKER_15: But when people talk about classic rock, they're generally referring to a period that began in the sixties and ended in the eighties.
- 35:47SPEAKER_15: Okay.
- 35:48SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 35:48SPEAKER_15: This three decade run birthed some of the greatest artists to ever grace a stage, ranging from the Beatles and the Stones to Jimmy Hendrix, Fleetwood Mac, Led Zeppelin, Guns N Roses, and many more.
- 35:57SPEAKER_15: What happens to their incredible legacies after these icons retire, or sadly, die?
- 36:02SPEAKER_15: Are avatars the future of concerts?
- 36:06SPEAKER_15: Famously, KISS made waves in December of twenty twenty-three when following their final traditional concert, the band revealed virtual avatars that will take them into the future.
- 36:19SPEAKER_15: How concert streaming is helping artists stay eternal.
- 36:22SPEAKER_15: KISS isn't the only classic act to retire from the road in recent years.
- 36:25SPEAKER_15: Elton John, Aerosmith, Ted Nugent, and Kenny Loggins are among the rockers who've stepped away from touring, though most have kept the door slightly ajar for occasional performances.
- 36:34SPEAKER_15: As legendary acts play fewer and fewer shows, fans have turned to streaming concert platforms as an alternative.
- 36:42SPEAKER_15: Let's see.
- 36:43SPEAKER_15: Springsteen Springsteen uh did a concert, a streaming concert on Nuggs.net, which is a new service.
- 36:53SPEAKER_15: Um selling out is no longer a concern.
- 36:56SPEAKER_15: I'm just kind of skimming the article here.
- 36:58SPEAKER_15: Right.
- 36:58SPEAKER_15: The evolution of classic rock has turned bands to brands, which is unfortunate.
- 37:02SPEAKER_15: Uh, with many artists capitalizing on their intellectual property.
- 37:06SPEAKER_15: That's true.
- 37:07SPEAKER_15: They're selling all of their their catalogs for millions of dollars.
- 37:12SPEAKER_15: Because whereas Taylor Swift just bought hers back.
- 37:15SPEAKER_15: Right.
- 37:15SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 37:15SPEAKER_15: And she's re-recording them.
- 37:17SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 37:17SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 37:18SPEAKER_15: Um, this is what we talked about on the last podcast.
- 37:22SPEAKER_15: Classic rock bands touring without original members.
- 37:25SPEAKER_15: Uh in recent history has proven anything.
- 37:27SPEAKER_15: It's that a band's allure far exceeds that of its members.
- 37:30SPEAKER_15: If Queen can rock stadiums without Freddie Mercury and The Grateful Dead can evolve to Dead and Company, there's no reason fellow iconic acts can't follow suit.
- 37:40SPEAKER_15: Uh some notable groups, Leonard Skinner, Blood, Sweat and Tears, Journey, and we talked about foreigners doing the same thing.
- 37:46SPEAKER_15: Right.
- 37:47SPEAKER_15: Um Here's the question.
- 37:50SPEAKER_15: So where does classic rock go from here?
- 37:52SPEAKER_15: This is the last bit of the article.
- 37:54SPEAKER_15: While no one can perfectly predict what the future will bring, classic rock fans can take solace in knowing the genre will endorse somehow, whether via avatars, streaming, new lineups, or some other avenue, artists and their work will continue reaching new fans long after they stepped off stage for good.
- 38:10SPEAKER_15: Um there's lots of buzz around Apple Vision and all that.
- 38:14SPEAKER_15: Ultimately, um they're sure it will end up in some kind of headset, whether it's Apple Vision or not, but somehow uh something that's incredibly high resolution, like 16k in the sphere, that kind of thing, but on your head or in your room.
- 38:28SPEAKER_15: That doesn't really answer the question.
- 38:32SPEAKER_15: Uh what he's basically saying is that classic rock will be there.
- 38:37SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 38:37SPEAKER_15: In some form.
- 38:38SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 38:39SPEAKER_05: You're always gonna I think we're going deeper and saying, you know, who's going to be classic rock?
- 38:43SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 38:44SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 38:45SPEAKER_15: You're always gonna have access to Paul McCartney.
- 38:47SPEAKER_15: Right.
- 38:48SPEAKER_15: Even when he's gone.
- 38:49SPEAKER_15: Correct.
- 38:50SPEAKER_15: You'll have it on the radio, you'll have it streaming, you'll have it in headset, DVDs, yeah, whatever.
- 38:56SPEAKER_15: You're always gonna have access to it.
- 38:57SPEAKER_15: And I'm sure that you'll hear it on commercials.
- 39:01SPEAKER_15: Oh, yeah.
- 39:02SPEAKER_15: Uh everywhere.
- 39:02SPEAKER_15: Like you do.
- 39:03SPEAKER_05: Well, I I heard it uh they got the I want to hold your hand on a car commercial right now.
- 39:08SPEAKER_05: Or no, it's Uber.
- 39:09SPEAKER_15: Is it Uber?
- 39:10SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 39:10SPEAKER_05: So I don't I don't know why they chose that for Uber, but whatever.
- 39:14SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 39:15SPEAKER_05: It's not my money.
- 39:16SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 39:16SPEAKER_15: So um so that's I mean, that's an interesting uh question to consider.
- 39:21SPEAKER_15: Really is, yeah.
- 39:22SPEAKER_15: Um I guess we could talk about that for a long time, but um I want to move on.
- 39:28SPEAKER_15: Next thing to another list from UltimateClassicrock.com.
- 39:33SPEAKER_15: Now we've talked about this before, sort of.
- 39:35SPEAKER_15: Um but there this is a list that is ranked.
- 39:40SPEAKER_15: Uh so Ultimate Classic Rock has let's see, Corey Irwin wrote uh wrote this article.
- 39:45SPEAKER_05: Hey Cory, how's it going?
- 39:46SPEAKER_15: I'm sure he got input from other people, but I'm sure fifty greatest power ballads in rock history ranked.
- 39:55SPEAKER_05: All right.
- 39:56SPEAKER_15: So, number one, a power ballad is what a rock ballad.
- 40:03SPEAKER_15: Right.
- 40:04SPEAKER_15: Power chords.
- 40:05SPEAKER_05: Right, right.
- 40:05SPEAKER_15: It's a it's a rock ballad.
- 40:07SPEAKER_15: Right.
- 40:07SPEAKER_15: Um and this is in the fifty greatest in rock history, so that means there is a number one.
- 40:13SPEAKER_15: Right.
- 40:14SPEAKER_15: There's a number fifty and there's a number one, so we won't play all of them, obviously.
- 40:19SPEAKER_15: No.
- 40:19SPEAKER_15: But we'll we'll kind of say whether we agree or disagree.
- 40:23SPEAKER_15: Uh number fifty, Metallica.
- 40:26SPEAKER_15: Nothing else matters.
- 40:29SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 40:30SPEAKER_05: I don't consider it a ballad, but I can see where it wouldn't be.
- 40:33SPEAKER_15: Well, let's do this.
- 40:35SPEAKER_15: Let's do this.
- 40:36SPEAKER_15: Let's see what Google was called a ballad.
- 40:42SPEAKER_15: A ballad is a form of verse, often a narrative, set to music that originated in medieval Europe and spread across the world.
- 40:50SPEAKER_15: Okay, so let's do power ballad.
- 40:56SPEAKER_15: Because that's what we're talking about.
- 41:00SPEAKER_15: That's what we're talking about.
- 41:04SPEAKER_15: Well, there's just another list.
- 41:06SPEAKER_15: Oh, okay, here we go.
- 41:07SPEAKER_15: Uh this is AI generated by the A power ballad is a slow, emotional rock song that typically features strong vocals and dramatic instrumentation, often often focusing on themes of love and longing.
- 41:21SPEAKER_15: These songs often build up to a powerful climax, making them popular for expressing deep feelings.
- 41:28SPEAKER_15: Okay.
- 41:29SPEAKER_15: So I would consider nothing else matters about it.
- 41:32SPEAKER_15: It doesn't have to be about love.
- 41:33SPEAKER_15: No.
- 41:33SPEAKER_15: I mean, it's it's emotional.
- 41:35SPEAKER_15: It is.
- 41:36SPEAKER_15: Um it does build up.
- 41:37SPEAKER_15: Dramatic instrumentation.
- 41:39SPEAKER_15: Um making expressing deep feelings.
- 41:43SPEAKER_05: I would say it checks all the boxes.
- 41:45SPEAKER_15: It checks all the boxes.
- 41:46SPEAKER_05: Um it's just weird to consider Metallica doing ballads.
- 41:50SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 41:51SPEAKER_05: But I suppose fadeable black fade to black is a bad.
- 41:54SPEAKER_05: So yeah.
- 41:54SPEAKER_15: Yep.
- 41:55SPEAKER_15: So I'll I'll support uh Metallica, nothing else matters.
- 41:58SPEAKER_15: We'll allow it.
- 41:59SPEAKER_15: At 50.
- 42:00SPEAKER_15: 49, love song from Tesla.
- 42:02SPEAKER_05: Now I would I would put that higher.
- 42:03SPEAKER_05: So would I.
- 42:04SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 42:04SPEAKER_15: I was just gonna say that.
- 42:05SPEAKER_05: That should be a top ten.
- 42:06SPEAKER_15: I would agree.
- 42:08SPEAKER_15: I would completely agree.
- 42:09SPEAKER_15: Love song, uh in and of itself.
- 42:12SPEAKER_15: I mean the the title of it.
- 42:13SPEAKER_15: I mean duh.
- 42:14SPEAKER_15: Duh.
- 42:15SPEAKER_15: Where else could it be?
- 42:16SPEAKER_15: And it was so popular.
- 42:17SPEAKER_15: Oh yeah.
- 42:18SPEAKER_15: I mean that's uh that's definitely uh top ten.
- 42:24SPEAKER_15: That's way too low.
- 42:25SPEAKER_15: Blaze of Glory, John Bon Jovi.
- 42:28SPEAKER_15: Now, in the original description of a ballad, this works.
- 42:35SPEAKER_15: Like it's a narrative.
- 42:36SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 42:37SPEAKER_15: So talking about how uh I don't know that he's talking about love, maybe longing.
- 42:43SPEAKER_15: But I guess it's emotion.
- 42:44SPEAKER_15: Deep emotion, yeah, deep emotion.
- 42:46SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 42:46SPEAKER_15: So yeah, I guess I would support that, but I don't know if I'd I don't know.
- 42:52SPEAKER_15: It's a great song.
- 42:53SPEAKER_15: I love this song.
- 42:54SPEAKER_15: Blaze of Glory.
- 42:56SPEAKER_15: Pat Benatar, Shadows of the Night.
- 43:01SPEAKER_15: I think there are other Pat Benatar songs that I may have picked over this one.
- 43:08SPEAKER_15: I love this song.
- 43:10SPEAKER_15: It's from 1982.
- 43:29SPEAKER_05: You know, from the context of the video.
- 43:32SPEAKER_05: It looks like she's lying the cracker point.
- 43:37SPEAKER_15: You know, the fact that her band, her band is right there by the pilot.
- 43:41SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 43:42SPEAKER_03: Oh, why not?
- 43:43SPEAKER_03: I mean, come on.
- 43:46SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 43:47SPEAKER_15: I mean I put any pet benefits on up there.
- 43:55SPEAKER_15: I'm thinking of uh I can't think of think of a uh a better pet.
- 44:01SPEAKER_05: Or that one that uh Loan and Navarro uh We belong.
- 44:03SPEAKER_05: Yeah, we belong.
- 44:04SPEAKER_15: I bet you that's on here.
- 44:05SPEAKER_05: I would hope so.
- 44:06SPEAKER_05: I bet you that's a really good one.
- 44:08SPEAKER_15: Uh Asia.
- 44:09SPEAKER_15: The smile has left your eyes.
- 44:11SPEAKER_15: Do I know that song?
- 44:12SPEAKER_15: I think you probably do.
- 44:13SPEAKER_15: I don't think it should be on the 50 top.
- 44:16SPEAKER_15: Power balance.
- 44:17SPEAKER_15: I think you probably have mugum.
- 44:20SPEAKER_15: Have heard it.
- 44:22SPEAKER_15: See, we're playing videos here, so I'm just kind of trying to get past.
- 44:33SPEAKER_10: I saw you standing hand in hand.
- 44:36SPEAKER_15: Yeah, I wouldn't have put this in the top 50.
- 44:39SPEAKER_05: Okay, I I have heard this song.
- 44:41SPEAKER_05: Didn't realize it was Asia.
- 44:46SPEAKER_05: Now this this is not a top 50.
- 44:48SPEAKER_05: No.
- 44:49SPEAKER_05: Great song.
- 44:53SPEAKER_15: Yeah, I think they're reaching on that one.
- 44:55SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 44:55SPEAKER_15: Oh, this one.
- 44:56SPEAKER_15: I would have put this top 10.
- 44:58unknown: What is it?
- 44:59SPEAKER_15: Looks like Cinderella.
- 45:00SPEAKER_15: It is.
- 45:00SPEAKER_05: Oh, yeah.
- 45:01SPEAKER_15: What you got tilt here?
- 45:02SPEAKER_05: Yeah, this is definitely top 10.
- 45:03SPEAKER_05: I would have put it top 10.
- 45:04SPEAKER_05: Yep.
- 45:05SPEAKER_15: For sure.
- 45:07SPEAKER_15: Um.
- 45:11SPEAKER_15: I'll just play it for a second.
- 45:20SPEAKER_05: That's what I love about music videos.
- 45:23SPEAKER_05: You can just put a grand piano anywhere.
- 45:25SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 45:25SPEAKER_05: And nobody questions it.
- 45:27SPEAKER_05: Out in the desert.
- 45:28SPEAKER_05: Out in the desert next to the ocean.
- 45:31SPEAKER_05: Yeah, that's completely normal.
- 45:34SPEAKER_15: This is kind of a neat little thing.
- 45:35SPEAKER_15: This right up here.
- 45:37SPEAKER_15: So Andy Johns was the producer of uh Long Cold Winter.
- 45:42SPEAKER_15: And he Tom Kiefer had told Andy that he had this idea for a ballad, and the producer said no.
- 45:52SPEAKER_15: Told him no.
- 45:53SPEAKER_15: And then Kiefer sat behind the piano and played it for him.
- 45:57SPEAKER_15: And in Tom Kiefer's words, I became carried away with my playing, and when I finally turned around, Andy, this hard as nails guy, had a tear streaming down his cheek.
- 46:06SPEAKER_15: At that moment, I knew I had quite a song.
- 46:09SPEAKER_06: That'll do it.
- 46:11SPEAKER_15: Yeah, for sure.
- 46:12SPEAKER_15: This one, top ten.
- 46:14SPEAKER_06: Yep.
- 46:19SPEAKER_15: I mean, this is the definitive.
- 46:21SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I mean, when you think of power ballads, this is definitely one of them.
- 46:24SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 46:25SPEAKER_15: Oh, for sure.
- 46:26SPEAKER_15: This one, I don't know.
- 46:28SPEAKER_15: Uh, Motorhead, I ain't no nice guy.
- 46:31SPEAKER_15: I feel like we've done this list before or something like it.
- 46:34SPEAKER_15: Maybe something similar, but because I remember playing this really on our podcast.
- 46:43SPEAKER_10: When I was young, I was the nicest guy I knew.
- 46:49SPEAKER_09: I thought I was the chosen one.
- 46:54SPEAKER_15: We already done this list.
- 46:55SPEAKER_03: I don't like that.
- 47:00SPEAKER_05: I think we've done something similar.
- 47:02SPEAKER_08: My shine more of this time moral.
- 47:08SPEAKER_15: I mean, there are other power ballads I would pick.
- 47:10SPEAKER_15: Oh, over there.
- 47:10SPEAKER_15: Of course, I haven't gotten to them all, but uh I'm just gonna go down.
- 47:13SPEAKER_15: Skid Row, I remember you.
- 47:15SPEAKER_15: Oh, yeah.
- 47:15SPEAKER_15: For sure.
- 47:16SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 47:16SPEAKER_15: Uh Starship, nothing's gonna stop us now.
- 47:20SPEAKER_16: Is that a power ballad?
- 47:21SPEAKER_16: That's not a power ballad.
- 47:23SPEAKER_15: That's a pop song.
- 47:28SPEAKER_14: Is that a power ballad?
- 47:31SPEAKER_14: Does it build up?
- 47:33SPEAKER_14: No, I don't think so.
- 47:35SPEAKER_14: It's pretty much the same through the whole thing.
- 47:39SPEAKER_14: Right?
- 47:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I'm trying to.
- 47:44SPEAKER_05: Is that Prince?
- 47:45SPEAKER_05: No, it's not print.
- 47:49SPEAKER_05: Oh, this is just a rip-off of mannequin.
- 47:52SPEAKER_05: Um, no, it's in the movie mannequin.
- 47:53SPEAKER_05: Oh, that's right.
- 47:54SPEAKER_05: That's why.
- 47:55SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 47:55SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 47:59SPEAKER_09: Or Andrew McCarthy.
- 48:00SPEAKER_05: I don't know that I would call that a ballad.
- 48:02SPEAKER_05: It's a ballad.
- 48:03SPEAKER_05: It's a mid-tempo song.
- 48:04SPEAKER_05: It's a bad I would say it's a ballad.
- 48:06SPEAKER_05: You think so?
- 48:06SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 48:07SPEAKER_05: I mean, power ballad?
- 48:08SPEAKER_05: That may be stretching it, but it's definitely a ballad.
- 48:11SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 48:12SPEAKER_15: Uh Aerosmith, I don't want to miss a thing.
- 48:14SPEAKER_15: Oh yeah.
- 48:15SPEAKER_15: Yeah, I don't like that song, but Well, I I like it.
- 48:18SPEAKER_05: It just I got sick of it.
- 48:19SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 48:20SPEAKER_05: Because you you you heard it every, you know, five minutes on the radio when it was, you know, when it first came out.
- 48:26SPEAKER_15: Bad English, Price of Love.
- 48:27SPEAKER_05: Price of Love.
- 48:28SPEAKER_05: Do I know this song?
- 48:29SPEAKER_15: Yeah, you probably do.
- 48:30SPEAKER_15: It was released, it was a single.
- 48:33SPEAKER_15: The sad thing is, Bad English got painted out as as ballad singers when the rest of the album was rock.
- 48:40SPEAKER_15: Right.
- 48:41SPEAKER_15: So their first single was When I See You Smile.
- 48:43SPEAKER_15: Oh, right, yeah, yeah.
- 48:43SPEAKER_15: And then their second single was This.
- 48:45SPEAKER_15: Oh, that's that's just murder right there.
- 48:47SPEAKER_15: Yeah, it is.
- 48:48SPEAKER_15: And this is a great song.
- 48:50SPEAKER_15: And would I put it in, I guess would I put it in the top 50?
- 48:57SPEAKER_05: I don't know.
- 49:01SPEAKER_15: You recognize it now?
- 49:04SPEAKER_10: And this is a great song, but that I don't say the things I should.
- 49:09SPEAKER_15: But it checks all the boxes.
- 49:10SPEAKER_15: It does.
- 49:12SPEAKER_15: Bon Jovi, I'll be there for you.
- 49:13SPEAKER_15: Oh yeah.
- 49:14SPEAKER_15: Oh yeah.
- 49:14SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 49:14SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 49:15SPEAKER_15: I would say that's top 20.
- 49:16SPEAKER_15: Chicago, you're the inspiration.
- 49:18SPEAKER_15: Oh yeah.
- 49:18SPEAKER_15: I would put that in the top 20, top 10.
- 49:21SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 49:22SPEAKER_15: Maybe.
- 49:22SPEAKER_15: At least.
- 49:23SPEAKER_15: Lita Ford Nazi Osborne, close my eyes forever.
- 49:25SPEAKER_15: Uh say top 25.
- 49:27SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 49:28SPEAKER_15: Yep, I would agree.
- 49:29SPEAKER_15: Air supply, all out of love.
- 49:32SPEAKER_15: It's a ballad.
- 49:32SPEAKER_15: I would say that.
- 49:33SPEAKER_05: That's definitely a ballad.
- 49:33SPEAKER_05: What do we call it a power ballad?
- 49:35SPEAKER_05: Uh, it kind of power balladie.
- 49:36SPEAKER_05: Balladie.
- 49:38SPEAKER_05: Because it it builds up to that big old guitar solo.
- 49:42SPEAKER_05: There's a guitar solo in this?
- 49:43SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 49:45SPEAKER_05: Really?
- 49:46SPEAKER_05: I I think so.
- 49:48SPEAKER_05: If I remember right.
- 49:49SPEAKER_07: I am feeling it too.
- 49:50SPEAKER_07: That's the feeling simple so rap.
- 49:56SPEAKER_14: Yeah, the big orchestral Yeah, I don't think there's a guitar solo though.
- 50:02SPEAKER_14: No, no, no.
- 50:03SPEAKER_14: I could be thinking of another one.
- 50:04SPEAKER_15: Making love out of nothing at that.
- 50:06SPEAKER_15: That's the one I'm thinking of.
- 50:08SPEAKER_05: That's a power ballad.
- 50:09SPEAKER_15: Yeah, that should be on this list.
- 50:10SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 50:11SPEAKER_15: Interesting thing about that, that was written by Jim Steinman, who wrote all the meatloaf stuff.
- 50:16SPEAKER_15: You could tell.
- 50:17SPEAKER_15: Making love out of nothing at all.
- 50:19SPEAKER_05: Oh, it totally, yeah, it makes sense.
- 50:20SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 50:20SPEAKER_15: Yeah, for sure.
- 50:21SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 50:22SPEAKER_15: Boston, Amanda.
- 50:23SPEAKER_05: Oh, yeah.
- 50:24SPEAKER_05: I'm on a take you.
- 50:25SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 50:25SPEAKER_05: Definitely top 15.
- 50:27SPEAKER_05: She tricks the flame.
- 50:29SPEAKER_05: Even though they hate it, yes.
- 50:30SPEAKER_05: Even though they hate it, yes.
- 50:31SPEAKER_05: It's definitely a power ballot.
- 50:33SPEAKER_15: I would say.
- 50:33SPEAKER_15: Kiss Beth.
- 50:35SPEAKER_15: Oh yeah.
- 50:35SPEAKER_15: Yep.
- 50:36SPEAKER_05: Well, it's not really a power ballot.
- 50:38SPEAKER_05: It's a ballad.
- 50:38SPEAKER_15: It's just a ballot.
- 50:39SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 50:39SPEAKER_05: But it's definitely up there.
- 50:40SPEAKER_15: The Bangles Eternal Flame.
- 50:42SPEAKER_15: Oh, yeah.
- 50:43SPEAKER_05: A power ballot?
- 50:44SPEAKER_05: Susanna Hoff.
- 50:45SPEAKER_05: You don't care.
- 50:45SPEAKER_05: Just don't care.
- 50:46SPEAKER_05: It's just oh Susanna Hall.
- 50:47SPEAKER_05: Don't care.
- 50:47SPEAKER_05: Susanna Hoff's done.
- 50:49SPEAKER_05: She's in the list.
- 50:50SPEAKER_05: I wasn't going to play the video, but now I am.

- 50:59SPEAKER_05: That's that's the only way to properly look at Susanna Hoff's.
- 51:02SPEAKER_05: Just saying.
- 51:05SPEAKER_11: Give me a hand.
- 51:07SPEAKER_15: There we go.
- 51:07SPEAKER_15: See, I wouldn't call this a power ballot.
- 51:09SPEAKER_05: No, it's not.
- 51:10SPEAKER_15: But we don't care.
- 51:11SPEAKER_15: Definitely I don't care.
- 51:12SPEAKER_11: Do you do not care?
- 51:18SPEAKER_04: It could be a cappella.
- 51:19SPEAKER_04: I'd put it as a power ballot.
- 51:20SPEAKER_04: Don't care.
- 51:23SPEAKER_11: Is this burning an each turn of life?
- 51:31SPEAKER_05: I feel bad for the rest of the girls in the band.
- 51:33SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 51:33SPEAKER_05: Because it's like Susanna Hoffs! And oh, you're in the band too?
- 51:36SPEAKER_05: And the band.
- 51:37SPEAKER_05: You know what I mean?
- 51:38SPEAKER_15: Number 31, Genesis, throwing it all away.

- 56:41SPEAKER_15: Arrow 10.
- 56:42SPEAKER_15: Dream On.
- 56:44SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 56:45SPEAKER_05: I don't know if it'd be in my top ten, but definitely in my top 15.
- 56:48SPEAKER_15: Same.
- 56:48SPEAKER_15: Yeah, yeah, same.
- 56:49SPEAKER_15: Motley Crue, Home Sweet Home.
- 56:51SPEAKER_05: Uh, top twenty.
- 56:53SPEAKER_05: I wouldn't put it in my top ten.
- 56:54SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 56:54SPEAKER_15: As much as I don't really like Motley Crue, I probably would have put it in my top twenty as well.
- 56:59SPEAKER_15: Uh Foreigner, I want to know what love is.
- 57:01SPEAKER_15: Oh, yeah.
- 57:01SPEAKER_15: I might that might be well, depending on what the next songs are, that might be not my number one.
- 57:06SPEAKER_15: Oh really?
- 57:07SPEAKER_15: I think so.
- 57:08SPEAKER_15: Uh but we'll see.
- 57:09SPEAKER_15: It's definitely top ten.
- 57:10SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 57:11SPEAKER_15: Uh Journey, don't stop believing.
- 57:13SPEAKER_05: That's the third journey one, man.
- 57:14SPEAKER_05: Yeah, that's not really the ballad.
- 57:16SPEAKER_15: I don't think it's a ballad either.
- 57:18SPEAKER_05: It doesn't really belong there.
- 57:20SPEAKER_15: Guns N' Roses November Rain.
- 57:21SPEAKER_15: Oh, yeah.
- 57:22SPEAKER_15: Yeah, I think I get it.
- 57:24SPEAKER_15: Totally get it.
- 57:25SPEAKER_15: Heart Alone is number two.
- 57:26SPEAKER_15: There we go.
- 57:26SPEAKER_05: Yeah, there's my girlfriend.
- 57:28SPEAKER_15: So who's missing from this so far?
- 57:30SPEAKER_15: Is there anybody missing that we that we is not on there?
- 57:35SPEAKER_15: You know what's missing?
- 57:37SPEAKER_15: Uh although it's not really a power ballad, I guess.
- 57:40SPEAKER_15: To be with you, Mr.
- 57:41SPEAKER_15: Big.
- 57:42SPEAKER_05: Not a power ballad.
- 57:43SPEAKER_15: You don't think so?
- 57:43SPEAKER_15: No.
- 57:44SPEAKER_15: Um ballad, yes.
- 57:45SPEAKER_05: Power ballad, no.
- 57:46SPEAKER_15: Um just take my heart from Mr.
- 57:48SPEAKER_15: Big.
- 57:49SPEAKER_15: Maybe I'm just trying to get some love for Paul Gilbert.
- 57:51SPEAKER_15: I don't know.
- 57:52SPEAKER_15: Um by the way, I did listen to the side.
- 57:53SPEAKER_16: Did you finally listen to it on the way home after the after the podcast?
- 57:59SPEAKER_16: I could love it.
- 58:00SPEAKER_16: But I was expecting something different.
- 58:02SPEAKER_16: I know, right?
- 58:03SPEAKER_16: I was I was expecting like a heavy, like a hard note.
- 58:07SPEAKER_15: No, it's that's just like a syrupy pop song.
- 58:10SPEAKER_05: It's really cool.
- 58:12SPEAKER_05: That's why I love Paul Gilbert.
- 58:13SPEAKER_15: Maybe I'll play that.
- 58:14SPEAKER_15: Well, actually, no, that probably would show that.
- 58:17SPEAKER_15: Uh number one, Prince, Purple Rain.
- 58:20SPEAKER_15: Yeah, I can't argue with it.
- 58:21SPEAKER_15: Yeah, I can't argue with that.
- 58:22SPEAKER_15: I can't argue with that.
- 58:23SPEAKER_15: I still would put Foreigner.
- 58:24SPEAKER_15: I want to know what love is at number one.
- 58:26SPEAKER_15: Um, Prince would be in my top ten for sure.
- 58:28SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 58:28SPEAKER_05: Heck yeah, that's a great song.
- 58:29SPEAKER_15: Yeah, for sure.
- 58:30SPEAKER_15: So, I mean, we didn't disagree with a lot of those.
- 58:33SPEAKER_05: No, but there were a few, but you know, yeah.
- 58:36SPEAKER_15: There we go.
- 58:37SPEAKER_05: I can't think of any that should be there that weren't in that list.
- 58:40SPEAKER_15: Exactly.
- 58:42SPEAKER_05: So that's actually a pretty good list.
- 58:44SPEAKER_05: Good job, Al Ultimate Classic.
- 58:46SPEAKER_05: Yeah, yeah, for once.
- 58:48SPEAKER_16: You're done good, kids.
- 58:49SPEAKER_16: For once.
- 58:50SPEAKER_16: No, not for once.
- 58:52SPEAKER_05: No, they actually do pretty good work.
- 58:53SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 58:55SPEAKER_15: Um so we we mentioned uh uh there's something I wanted to talk about when we do uh this.
- 59:11SPEAKER_15: Right.
- 59:12SPEAKER_15: Okay, so so I and I know I told you about this, but I can't believe.
- 59:19SPEAKER_15: So last week's question, we're gonna do that.
- 59:21SPEAKER_15: We're gonna find out who who she picked here in a second, but she must have picked herself, or did she take herself out of contention?
- 59:28SPEAKER_15: No, she took herself out of contention.
- 59:29SPEAKER_15: Did she?
- 59:30SPEAKER_15: I thought she would do that, yeah.
- 59:31SPEAKER_15: Of course she would.
- 59:31SPEAKER_15: I don't even know who she is, but she's a good judge.
- 59:33SPEAKER_15: Yeah, yeah.
- 59:34SPEAKER_15: Um, but I would say we forgot one.
- 59:38SPEAKER_15: Um and I can't believe that we missed this, because the question was something to the effect of aliens came down uh to like take over the world, but they would they would if you played them an epic the the most epic love song, um they would give you a pass or something.
- 59:57SPEAKER_15: So we picked their epic love songs and we missed the actual like Alien love song.
- 1:00:04SPEAKER_15: Alien love song.
- 1:00:06SPEAKER_05: Uh hold on a second here, because I wanna where well I should say the alien love song not done by Joe Satriani.
- 1:00:14SPEAKER_15: Exactly.
- 1:00:16SPEAKER_15: Um it is where did it go?
- 1:00:24SPEAKER_15: Oh, right here.
- 1:00:25SPEAKER_15: Okay, so this one is Vanny Halen from 5150.
- 1:00:31SPEAKER_15: Love Walks In, of course, featuring Tammy Hagar.
- 1:00:35SPEAKER_15: This is actually written about aliens.
- 1:00:40SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 1:00:41SPEAKER_15: Um, and just listen to it for a second because actually, while we're listening to it, let me get the words because Tammy Hagar has said um not that he was like uh abducted.
- 1:01:14SPEAKER_15: So contact is all it takes to change your life, to lose your place and time.
- 1:01:20SPEAKER_15: Contact, a sleeper awake, coming around, you may wake up to find questions deep within your eyes.
- 1:01:26SPEAKER_15: Now more than ever, you realize, and then you sense a change, nothing feels the same, all your dreams are strange, love comes walking in, some kind of alien waits for the opening, then simply pulls a string.
- 1:01:38SPEAKER_15: Another world, some other time, you lay your sanity on the line, familiar faces, familiar sights, reach back, remember with all your might.
- 1:01:44SPEAKER_15: Ooh, and there she stands in a silken gown, silver lights shining down.
- 1:01:49SPEAKER_15: This is basically falling in love.
- 1:01:51SPEAKER_05: Yeah, with an alien chick.
- 1:01:52SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 1:01:53SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 1:01:53SPEAKER_15: But it's what love is.
- 1:01:54SPEAKER_15: It's like Yeah.
- 1:01:57SPEAKER_15: Oh, sleep and dream, that's all I crave.
- 1:01:59SPEAKER_15: I travel far across the Milky Way.
- 1:02:01SPEAKER_15: To my master, I become a slave, till we meet again some other day, where silence speaks as loud as war, earth returns to what it was before.
- 1:02:09unknown: Yeah.
- 1:02:10SPEAKER_15: It's about aliens.
- 1:02:11SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 1:02:12SPEAKER_15: Alien love.
- 1:02:13SPEAKER_15: Alien love.
- 1:02:14SPEAKER_15: I can't believe we didn't think of this.
- 1:02:16SPEAKER_15: I'm so disappointed.
- 1:02:17SPEAKER_05: Yeah, we definitely dropped the ball on it.
- 1:02:19SPEAKER_05: I'm so disappointed in myself.
- 1:02:20SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:02:21SPEAKER_15: Uh anyway, so let's go.
- 1:02:23SPEAKER_15: Let's let's find out what our judgeness uh decided.
- 1:02:27SPEAKER_05: So this is what the judgeness said.
- 1:02:29SPEAKER_05: She said maybe we're better.
- 1:02:32SPEAKER_05: This week's picks were awesome.
- 1:02:35SPEAKER_05: NFB is perfect analogy for life.
- 1:02:38SPEAKER_05: She gets it.
- 1:02:39SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 1:02:39SPEAKER_05: Uh Love Prevails and she gets hit by a truck.
- 1:02:43SPEAKER_05: Sounds like life.
- 1:02:45SPEAKER_05: I enjoyed the satire of the song.
- 1:02:47SPEAKER_05: And while Barry White is an amazing songwriter, being a fellow journey fan, I had to go with open arms.
- 1:02:52SPEAKER_05: I love that song.
- 1:02:54SPEAKER_16: There you go.
- 1:02:56SPEAKER_16: Alright.
- 1:02:57SPEAKER_15: Big winner.
- 1:02:58SPEAKER_15: Present.
- 1:02:59SPEAKER_15: I have nothing.
- 1:03:00SPEAKER_15: Hold on.
- 1:03:01SPEAKER_15: I'm trying to I'm trying to I'm I'm grasping it strong here.
- 1:03:06SPEAKER_15: Um let's see.
- 1:03:08SPEAKER_15: So this is so what was the question?
- 1:03:10SPEAKER_05: As the uh get it right from the horse's mouth here.
- 1:03:15SPEAKER_05: Uh cleaning up the party bus after a wild batch party, you find a mixtape stuck between the cushions.
- 1:03:21SPEAKER_05: Play a song from it.
- 1:03:25unknown: I don't know, dude.
- 1:03:27SPEAKER_05: Yeah, it it's that's a tough one.
- 1:03:28SPEAKER_15: It is a tough one.
- 1:03:29SPEAKER_05: So this is what cousin Larry said.
- 1:03:31SPEAKER_15: Okay.
- 1:03:31SPEAKER_05: Mixtape.
- 1:03:32SPEAKER_05: Like last week, so many possibilities.
- 1:03:34SPEAKER_05: Some of the obvious ones are girls just want to have fun by my college crush, Cindy Lopper.
- 1:03:39SPEAKER_05: Cindy La uh Single Ladies by Beyonce and Here for the Party by Gretchen Wilson.
- 1:03:44SPEAKER_05: My wife loves the song and the video of Sugar by Maroon 5.
- 1:03:49SPEAKER_05: So I'll go with a lady's opinion and choose that.
- 1:03:51SPEAKER_05: Alright, hold on.
- 1:03:52SPEAKER_05: Honorable mention to I'm Too Sexy by Right Fice Fred.
- 1:03:57SPEAKER_05: And David Rose's the stripper.
- 1:04:02SPEAKER_05: Cousin Larry always comes through.
- 1:04:05SPEAKER_05: Alright, but he did he pick sugar, right?
- 1:04:06SPEAKER_05: Yeah, sugar.
- 1:04:07SPEAKER_15: Alright, so let's let's put that on here.
- 1:04:09SPEAKER_05: Um sure there's this is that this is actually a really great song.
- 1:04:14SPEAKER_05: I like the song.
- 1:04:16SPEAKER_15: I agree.
- 1:04:18unknown: I'm hurting, baby.
- 1:04:20SPEAKER_01: I'm broken down.
- 1:04:22SPEAKER_01: I need you loving, lovin', I need it now.
- 1:04:26SPEAKER_09: Well without you, I'm something we're begging, begging on my knee.
- 1:04:34SPEAKER_09: I wanna be needing love, just wanna be deep in love, let me win your way.
- 1:04:41SPEAKER_09: Oh, baby.
- 1:04:42SPEAKER_09: Don't care where you are, just wanna be there where you are.
- 1:04:46SPEAKER_09: I gotta go a little day.
- 1:04:53SPEAKER_14: Yeah, I take this song.
- 1:04:54SPEAKER_05: Yeah, he's a great song.
- 1:04:55SPEAKER_05: I like that.
- 1:04:56SPEAKER_05: I like it a lot.
- 1:04:56SPEAKER_15: Yep.
- 1:04:57SPEAKER_15: Same.
- 1:04:59SPEAKER_15: Uh, and so what's yours?
- 1:05:01SPEAKER_05: Well, I I actually had a little I was I was like, I was thinking about it.
- 1:05:05SPEAKER_05: I was like, you know what?
- 1:05:07SPEAKER_05: This day and age, it's gonna be a Taylor Swift song.
- 1:05:10SPEAKER_05: You know there's gonna be a Taylor Swift song.
- 1:05:11SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 1:05:12SPEAKER_05: But I couldn't bring myself to do it just because I just I can't do it, man.
- 1:05:16SPEAKER_15: Thank you.
- 1:05:16SPEAKER_05: Thank you.
- 1:05:17SPEAKER_05: Can't do it.
- 1:05:17SPEAKER_15: Not that I don't like Taylor Swift.
- 1:05:19SPEAKER_15: I just no, no, I I totally get it, but I just I just couldn't do it, man.
- 1:05:22SPEAKER_05: So thank you.
- 1:05:22SPEAKER_05: So but I did have a mini panic attack when I opened Cousin Larry's uh chat here because he actually picked the one I went with, Girls Just Wanna Have Fun by Cindy Lauper.
- 1:05:32SPEAKER_07: Oh, okay.
- 1:05:33SPEAKER_05: So I was like, oh no! Yeah, no, that's a good pick.
- 1:05:38SPEAKER_05: Hold on here.
- 1:05:39SPEAKER_05: I couldn't help.
- 1:05:39SPEAKER_05: I mean, I mean that's to me, that's like the ultimate, like even though it's 40 years old, man, it still tracks, you know what I mean?
- 1:05:48SPEAKER_05: Yep.
- 1:06:00SPEAKER_14: I suppose this is not the video one with uh Captain Luke.
- 1:06:03SPEAKER_14: Well, I didn't click on that one.
- 1:06:04SPEAKER_14: Oh, okay, that's fair.
- 1:06:12SPEAKER_15: Alright.
- 1:06:15SPEAKER_03: I think that one speaks for itself.
- 1:06:16SPEAKER_15: I think it does.
- 1:06:17SPEAKER_15: I think it does.
- 1:06:18SPEAKER_15: And I mean the fact that both you and Cousin Larry kind of kind of were on the same track there.
- 1:06:22SPEAKER_15: We have the same, we share.
- 1:06:25SPEAKER_15: So I admittedly did not have one.
- 1:06:28SPEAKER_15: Yes.
- 1:06:29SPEAKER_15: I just picked one.
- 1:06:31SPEAKER_15: Uh, but now, as I I want you to tell me what to do.
- 1:06:35SPEAKER_15: I'm gonna I'm gonna ask your advice.
- 1:06:37SPEAKER_15: Uh oh.
- 1:06:38SPEAKER_15: Okay, so I just picked one.
- 1:06:40SPEAKER_15: I found it in my you my uh iTunes.
- 1:06:42SPEAKER_15: Right.
- 1:06:43SPEAKER_15: Um so that was my pick.
- 1:06:45SPEAKER_15: Okay.
- 1:06:45SPEAKER_15: As soon as I opened up the Cindy Lauper video, there's another one that's listed up here that I might like to go with.
- 1:06:52SPEAKER_15: What do you think I should do?
- 1:06:53SPEAKER_15: Should I go with my original one?
- 1:06:54SPEAKER_04: Well, if you hadn't said anything, I wouldn't have known any different.
- 1:06:56SPEAKER_04: So this is on you.
- 1:06:58SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:07:00SPEAKER_04: Well.
- 1:07:01SPEAKER_16: Alright.
- 1:07:02SPEAKER_16: I'm gonna I'll leave it up to you, man.
- 1:07:04SPEAKER_16: I'm gonna go, I'm gonna go with my original one.
- 1:07:06SPEAKER_07: Okay.
- 1:07:08SPEAKER_15: And you can do an honorable mention like that.
- 1:07:09SPEAKER_15: That's what I'm gonna do.
- 1:07:10SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 1:07:10SPEAKER_15: So so this is my honorable mention.
- 1:07:13SPEAKER_15: Uh, just because I saw this as soon as I opened up this Cindy Lauper video.
- 1:07:19SPEAKER_15: Whitney! Right?
- 1:07:20SPEAKER_15: Yes! Yeah.
- 1:07:22SPEAKER_15: And and the only reason I'm not going with this is because I just felt like I should go with my first one.
- 1:07:28SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:07:29SPEAKER_04: I never even thought about this one.
- 1:07:32SPEAKER_15: Right?
- 1:07:32SPEAKER_15: I mean, this is this is just a good time.
- 1:07:34SPEAKER_15: It is a good time.
- 1:07:35SPEAKER_15: And it's Whitney, you know.
- 1:07:37SPEAKER_15: Come on.
- 1:07:39SPEAKER_05: Never I'm mad, I'm mad at myself now.
- 1:07:41SPEAKER_05: I didn't even think of this one.
- 1:07:42SPEAKER_05: But this is my love Whitney.
- 1:07:43SPEAKER_15: So this is my honorable mention, though.
- 1:07:45SPEAKER_15: So I'm I'm only gonna go with my original just because I feel bad because I didn't have one.
- 1:07:50SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:07:51SPEAKER_15: And then as we're talking, I dialed around and I found one.
- 1:07:54SPEAKER_15: Ah, sure.
- 1:07:55SPEAKER_15: So mine, it's and it's a country song.
- 1:07:58SPEAKER_15: Alright.
- 1:07:58SPEAKER_15: Uh I'll love it.
- 1:08:00SPEAKER_13: Stand on the box, dump your feet, stop clapping.
- 1:08:03SPEAKER_13: Got a real good feeling, something bad about to happen.
- 1:08:09SPEAKER_15: This is Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood.
- 1:08:11SPEAKER_15: Oh.
- 1:08:12SPEAKER_15: Something bad.
- 1:08:20SPEAKER_12: Couldn't make it to the church.
- 1:08:21SPEAKER_15: Like a bachelorette party, right?
- 1:08:23SPEAKER_15: Yeah, it does definitely sound that way.
- 1:08:32SPEAKER_13: Ran into a girl in a pretty ride.
- 1:08:44SPEAKER_05: Oh I thought right something else though.
- 1:08:47SPEAKER_05: This part they all do.
- 1:09:04unknown: Wake up in the morning, don't know what happened.
- 1:09:07SPEAKER_16: Wake up in the morning, don't know what happened.
- 1:09:09SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 1:09:10SPEAKER_13: Oh, something bad.
- 1:09:17SPEAKER_12: Something bad.
- 1:09:19SPEAKER_15: So there you go.
- 1:09:20SPEAKER_15: So what would you say it was a sorority?
- 1:09:21SPEAKER_15: Was it sorority?
- 1:09:22SPEAKER_15: Bachelet.
- 1:09:22SPEAKER_15: Bachelorette.
- 1:09:23SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:09:23SPEAKER_15: I think that's perfect.
- 1:09:25SPEAKER_05: It works.
- 1:09:25SPEAKER_05: It works, man.
- 1:09:26SPEAKER_05: Track.
- 1:09:26SPEAKER_05: Totally tracks.
- 1:09:27SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 1:09:27SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 1:09:28SPEAKER_15: So, um Something Bad from Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood.
- 1:09:31SPEAKER_15: Right.
- 1:09:32SPEAKER_15: Uh Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, Cindy Lauper.
- 1:09:34SPEAKER_15: Right.
- 1:09:34SPEAKER_15: And uh Cousin Larry with Sugar from Maroon 5.
- 1:09:39SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 1:09:39SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 1:09:39SPEAKER_15: And you know what the funny thing is, is I can hear all of those on that mixtape.
- 1:09:43SPEAKER_15: I can, man.
- 1:09:43SPEAKER_15: Right?
- 1:09:44SPEAKER_15: There you go.
- 1:09:45SPEAKER_15: Uh so that is mixtape.
- 1:09:47SPEAKER_15: So let's do uh the future.
- 1:09:49SPEAKER_15: What's the question for for next week?
- 1:09:50SPEAKER_05: Very simple.
- 1:09:52SPEAKER_05: Favorite song from a movie soundtrack.
- 1:09:54SPEAKER_05: Oh wow.
- 1:09:58SPEAKER_05: I know that's gonna be tough for you because you love movie soundtrack in that way.
- 1:10:03SPEAKER_05: Good luck.
- 1:10:04SPEAKER_05: Favorite song or favorite piece of music doesn't matter.
- 1:10:10SPEAKER_05: Interpret it as you will.
- 1:10:12SPEAKER_15: See, we had this discussion before though, because I I think a I think a piece of like music is not necessarily a song.
- 1:10:22SPEAKER_15: A song has words.
- 1:10:24SPEAKER_15: Do we want to just say song?
- 1:10:25SPEAKER_05: Well, that's what the question says, man.
- 1:10:27SPEAKER_05: You're overthinking it again.
- 1:10:29SPEAKER_05: Stop it.
- 1:10:29SPEAKER_05: I know.
- 1:10:30SPEAKER_05: But turn your brain on.
- 1:10:31SPEAKER_15: I have a piece of music that is my favorite.
- 1:10:34SPEAKER_05: Well then go with it, man.
- 1:10:35SPEAKER_05: Jeez, wait.
- 1:10:36SPEAKER_05: Why do I have to run everything?
- 1:10:42SPEAKER_16: Yeah, I don't know why.
- 1:10:43SPEAKER_16: Why am I the brains of the operation?
- 1:10:45SPEAKER_16: I don't know.
- 1:10:46SPEAKER_16: I don't know why you're the brains of the operation.

- 1:11:01SPEAKER_16: Come on.
- 1:11:06SPEAKER_16: You're just the reason people listen.
- 1:11:08SPEAKER_16: That's all.
- 1:11:15SPEAKER_04: That's mixed tape.
- 1:11:18SPEAKER_04: Damn it.
- 1:11:20SPEAKER_04: Stop mixed tape.

- 1:13:14SPEAKER_05: I'll start it right.
- 1:13:15SPEAKER_05: It's all part of it.
- 1:13:16SPEAKER_05: Alright.
- 1:13:16SPEAKER_05: It's all part of the thing.
- 1:13:19SPEAKER_15: Alright, so while this music is playing, Doug's gonna song.
- 1:13:23SPEAKER_05: So from the hard days, right revolver album, I want to tell you.
- 1:13:29SPEAKER_16: What do you want to tell me, Doug?
- 1:13:30SPEAKER_05: That you're I do all the work.
- 1:13:37SPEAKER_05: You can tell me that all you want.
- 1:13:39SPEAKER_05: It ain't true.
- 1:13:41SPEAKER_05: We all know it.
- 1:13:43SPEAKER_05: Well you do the heavy lifting, that's for sure.
- 1:13:46SPEAKER_05: Nah, I didn't lift anything.
- 1:13:48SPEAKER_05: My arm hurts.
- 1:13:49SPEAKER_05: You lift everybody's spirit with every podcast.
- 1:13:52SPEAKER_05: I'm sure that's what happens.
- 1:13:55SPEAKER_05: They're probably just like, shut up, Doug.
- 1:13:56SPEAKER_05: Read to me.
- 1:13:57SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 1:13:58SPEAKER_05: Here we go.
- 1:13:59SPEAKER_05: I want to tell you was a song written by George about the frustrations of having things to say but being unable to articulate them.
- 1:14:06SPEAKER_05: Ooh, that's a big word.
- 1:14:08SPEAKER_05: Quote, it's about the avalanche of thoughts that are so hard to write down or say or transmit, unquote, he later said, adding that if he were to write a song, write the song again, he would he would amend the bridge section, which says, But if I seem to act unkind, it's only me, it's not my mind.
- 1:14:26SPEAKER_05: That's confusing things.
- 1:14:29SPEAKER_05: So it was clear that his mind was responsible for confusion.
- 1:14:33SPEAKER_05: Quote, the mind is the thing that hops about telling us to do this and do that.
- 1:14:38SPEAKER_05: What we need to do is lose the mind, unquote.
- 1:14:43SPEAKER_05: Appropriately for a song which was about which which was about not knowing what to say, I want to tell you was recorded under the nonsensical title Laxton's Superb.
- 1:14:55unknown: What?
- 1:14:56SPEAKER_05: I don't know.
- 1:14:58SPEAKER_05: A name of an English apple, first suggested by engineer Jeff Emmerich.
- 1:15:03SPEAKER_05: It later became known as I Don't Know after George Martin had asked George what he wanted to title it and had me given this negative answer.
- 1:15:15SPEAKER_04: That's a great story, but that's okay.
- 1:15:20SPEAKER_09: I want to tell you I feel like I don't know why.
- 1:15:27SPEAKER_14: Have you ever done this song?
- 1:15:29SPEAKER_14: I don't think so.
- 1:15:33SPEAKER_10: I couldn't wait forever.
- 1:15:36unknown: I've got time.
- 1:15:40SPEAKER_09: Sometimes I wish I knew that.
- 1:15:42SPEAKER_15: So um this week in my uh elementary classes.
- 1:15:48SPEAKER_15: This week and next week, actually.
- 1:15:50SPEAKER_15: I planned it out just right.
- 1:15:51SPEAKER_15: Nice.
- 1:15:51SPEAKER_15: We're showing a movie.
- 1:15:52SPEAKER_15: Oh yeah.
- 1:15:53SPEAKER_15: In in all the grades.
- 1:15:54SPEAKER_15: Different movie.
- 1:15:55SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 1:15:55SPEAKER_15: First grade uh second grade I'm showing Beethoven Lives Upstairs.
- 1:15:58SPEAKER_15: Which is uh like a like Beethoven the dog?
- 1:16:01SPEAKER_14: No, no, the composer.
- 1:16:02SPEAKER_14: The composer.
- 1:16:03SPEAKER_14: Uh huh.
- 1:16:03SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 1:16:04SPEAKER_15: It's a fictional tale.
- 1:16:05SPEAKER_14: Okay.
- 1:16:05SPEAKER_15: Um but it's and it's you know, they they can appreciate it.
- 1:16:09SPEAKER_15: Uh first grade is watching the movie Sing, and uh kindergarten is watching the movie Sparky's Magic Piano.
- 1:16:15SPEAKER_15: So anyway, um there's no heavy lifting this week uh for me at school tonight.
- 1:16:20SPEAKER_15: So but I sat down with a guitar today uh for one of the classes, a second grade class.
- 1:16:26SPEAKER_15: And there are a couple of uh kids in that class who were mad at me.
- 1:16:31SPEAKER_15: Uh the main musician of the month.
- 1:16:35SPEAKER_15: The April musician of the month was the Beatles.
- 1:16:38SPEAKER_15: Right.
- 1:16:39SPEAKER_15: And there were two kids in that group.
- 1:16:43SPEAKER_15: Two or three kids in that group.
- 1:16:48SPEAKER_15: And so uh when when April was over, they were upset because they weren't we weren't talking about the Beatles anymore.
- 1:16:55SPEAKER_15: Uh so I sat down with my guitar today and I did the hello song like I normally do, and then and I did a Doray Me song that I normally do.
- 1:17:02SPEAKER_15: And then just I just kind of I played the opening chord to Horday's Night.
- 1:17:06SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:17:06SPEAKER_15: And I went, Alright, the Beatles, Hard Day's Night.
- 1:17:10SPEAKER_16: And they went, and I said, it's been aha, and then I stopped, oh just kidding.
- 1:17:15SPEAKER_16: They're like, it was so funny.
- 1:17:21SPEAKER_16: I got him.
- 1:17:22SPEAKER_16: And I got 'em good.
- 1:17:23SPEAKER_05: Reeled in!
- 1:17:25SPEAKER_16: And then they go then they go, Can you play I Wanna Hold Your Hand?
- 1:17:28SPEAKER_16: No.
- 1:17:29SPEAKER_16: No.
- 1:17:30SPEAKER_16: She loves you?
- 1:17:31SPEAKER_16: No.
- 1:17:34SPEAKER_15: Um Alright, so we are kind of sort of bypassing the Walletunes.
- 1:17:39SPEAKER_15: Not bypassing, but doing a special edition of the Walletons.
- 1:17:42SPEAKER_05: Because I brought up We're doing the cubby of tunes.
- 1:17:45SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 1:17:46SPEAKER_15: I brought up the Warren Brothers.
- 1:17:48SPEAKER_15: Uh and again, if you have a chance to check out that podcast, try that in the Small Town Podcast.
- 1:17:52SPEAKER_15: Uh the Warren Brothers episode is is awesome.
- 1:17:55SPEAKER_05: I think we've done Warren Brothers before.
- 1:17:57SPEAKER_05: I think we probably have two.
- 1:17:58SPEAKER_05: I can't remember.
- 1:18:00SPEAKER_15: But uh I think it's it's well deserved to do it again.
- 1:18:04SPEAKER_15: Absolutely.
- 1:18:04SPEAKER_15: Um so I have wait a second, I only have one in here.
- 1:18:10SPEAKER_15: I mean, I have all all of their albums, but I only have one in my items.
- 1:18:15SPEAKER_15: It is crazy.
- 1:18:17SPEAKER_15: That's okay though, because it's a great album.
- 1:18:19SPEAKER_15: Uh let me see.
- 1:18:21SPEAKER_15: Is that the only thing we found?
- 1:18:22SPEAKER_15: Nope.
- 1:18:24SPEAKER_16: I have I have that.
- 1:18:25SPEAKER_16: We have that.
- 1:18:26SPEAKER_05: We did it a long, long time ago.
- 1:18:27SPEAKER_14: Okay.
- 1:18:28SPEAKER_15: Um probably second season or something.
- 1:18:31SPEAKER_15: Let me just um look over here and give you their album title.
- 1:18:36SPEAKER_15: Because I think they're gonna four.
- 1:18:39SPEAKER_05: Four or five?
- 1:18:41SPEAKER_15: Four.
- 1:18:41SPEAKER_15: Four uh first album came out uh in 1998.
- 1:18:48SPEAKER_15: Beautiful day in the cold, cruel world.
- 1:18:51SPEAKER_15: It is uh second album came out in 2000, which I didn't realize it was 2000, but King of Nothing.
- 1:18:59SPEAKER_15: Uh Well Deserved Obscurity, which is the one that I have in my iTunes.
- 1:19:03SPEAKER_15: That came out in 2004.
- 1:19:05SPEAKER_15: And then Barely Famous Hits, which came out the uh the next year, which is basically a greatest hits.
- 1:19:10SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 1:19:11SPEAKER_15: Um because they had a reality show.
- 1:19:13SPEAKER_05: Yeah, on CMG.
- 1:19:14SPEAKER_16: That was hilarious.
- 1:19:16SPEAKER_15: Hilarious, because they're just they're there are a couple of cool guys, but they will tell you, uh, and I've listened to a podcast with them in it uh before, um, that when they were doing that show, they were drunk.
- 1:19:28SPEAKER_15: They were alcoholics and they quit drinking in like two thousand something a day apart.
- 1:19:35SPEAKER_15: And you'll you listen to that podcast and they'll tell you about it, but uh they were separate and one of them went sober one day, and the next one went sober the next day.
- 1:19:45SPEAKER_15: In two completely different places.
- 1:19:47SPEAKER_15: Right.
- 1:19:47SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 1:19:48SPEAKER_15: Um so it's it's it's very interesting.
- 1:19:50SPEAKER_15: Anyway, great albums.
- 1:19:52SPEAKER_15: Uh these guys are um uh just really fun.
- 1:19:57SPEAKER_15: Yeah, really fun.
- 1:19:58SPEAKER_15: Uh so I'm gonna play the the only album I have in my um iTunes collection is Well Deserved Obscurity from 2004.
- 1:20:08SPEAKER_15: And these guys have written songs for a bunch of different country artists.
- 1:20:12SPEAKER_15: I'm gonna start with one that we have covered.
- 1:20:14SPEAKER_15: Uh just because I think it's uh perfect bar song.
- 1:20:19SPEAKER_15: Oh, yeah.
- 1:20:19SPEAKER_15: Uh it's called Sell a Lot of Beer.
- 1:20:23SPEAKER_10: But I'm a hero in this bar.
- 1:20:28SPEAKER_10: And I play four big shows tonight with just me and my guitar.
- 1:20:36SPEAKER_10: But I don't make a lot of money, but I don't have a lot of gears.
- 1:21:33SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 1:21:54SPEAKER_05: Oh, absolutely.
- 1:21:55SPEAKER_05: You know?
- 1:21:55SPEAKER_07: Oh yeah.
- 1:22:04SPEAKER_15: Alright, along those same lines, they have a song on here called Quarter to Three.
- 1:22:09SPEAKER_15: Yep.
- 1:22:09SPEAKER_15: And it's another great song.
- 1:22:10SPEAKER_15: Yeah, it's along those same lines.
- 1:22:12SPEAKER_15: It's about playing in a bar.
- 1:22:17SPEAKER_16: Fairy Rolling Stones, yeah.
- 1:22:18SPEAKER_16: Uh you know, yeah.
- 1:22:30SPEAKER_10: Woke up this morning, a little past noon.
- 1:22:34SPEAKER_10: Believe it or not, I knew it was a little too soon.
- 1:22:39SPEAKER_10: I don't last for a while to fall to sleep.
- 1:22:43SPEAKER_10: I don't like to brag, but I get my drink for free.
- 1:22:49SPEAKER_10: Ain't nobody better than me.
- 1:22:55SPEAKER_09: You play in the market, and I play guitar!
- 1:22:58SPEAKER_15: Yeah, just great, just party stuff.
- 1:23:01SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 1:23:01SPEAKER_15: Um, but they also have their poignant tunes.
- 1:23:05SPEAKER_15: This one is great called Trouble Is.
- 1:23:07SPEAKER_15: Oh, that's a great song.
- 1:23:08SPEAKER_15: This whole album is great.
- 1:23:09SPEAKER_10: Yeah, it really is the bed is leaning my way, Zash is on the floor.
- 1:23:32SPEAKER_10: You swear there'd been a party the way I'm sleeping off the night before.
- 1:23:42SPEAKER_10: Got a lot more room for breathing, and I could have too much to drink.
- 1:23:53SPEAKER_10: Cuss out loud for walk to There's nobody here to tell me what they think.
- 1:24:03SPEAKER_10: Trouble is still no Waiting here She's still gone.
- 1:24:14SPEAKER_10: Trouble is I made her cry.
- 1:24:18SPEAKER_15: Even if you don't like country music, I mean you can find something to like in the Warren Brothers.
- 1:24:24SPEAKER_15: Oh yeah, yeah.
- 1:24:27SPEAKER_15: This one is great too.
- 1:24:29SPEAKER_15: Pretty.
- 1:24:29SPEAKER_06: Oh yeah, yeah.
- 1:24:45SPEAKER_10: Seven thousand dollars for a new nose.
- 1:24:54SPEAKER_10: Twice as much for fashion to look at oh.
- 1:25:01SPEAKER_10: She puts money into therapy to make her feel okay.
- 1:25:11SPEAKER_10: Pennies in her panties so that she won't blow it away.
- 1:25:31unknown: Pretty useless.
- 1:25:34SPEAKER_15: Pretty useless.
- 1:25:35SPEAKER_15: Love it.
- 1:25:36SPEAKER_15: Penny's in her panties so she don't blow away.
- 1:25:39SPEAKER_15: Uh I'm only gonna do two more.
- 1:25:41SPEAKER_15: This is uh a great one called The Lucky.
- 1:25:43SPEAKER_05: Yeah, awesome such a good song.
- 1:25:45SPEAKER_05: Again, I love it.
- 1:25:47SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I love this chorus.
- 1:25:48SPEAKER_05: Me too.
- 1:25:49SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:26:02SPEAKER_10: Sure looks good in the picture books.
- 1:26:04SPEAKER_10: Bigs we stop and take second looks, yeah, lots of white stand on Big White Beach.
- 1:26:09SPEAKER_10: Everything right within my reach.
- 1:26:11SPEAKER_10: I won't do every graphic screen, but I guess I'll have to take myself with me.
- 1:26:16SPEAKER_10: But I'm not sure.
- 1:26:49SPEAKER_10: Lucky just leave.
- 1:26:52SPEAKER_15: It's great.
- 1:26:53SPEAKER_15: And you know, the funny thing is, is all the songs that I just played for you are album cuts.
- 1:26:58SPEAKER_15: There are two songs on here that were released and as singles, and they're on their uh barely famous hits record.
- 1:27:05SPEAKER_15: Right.
- 1:27:05SPEAKER_15: And I didn't even play them.
- 1:27:06SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 1:27:06SPEAKER_15: Uh you may recognize them.
- 1:27:08SPEAKER_15: I'll just play a piece.
- 1:27:08SPEAKER_15: This one's come back.
- 1:27:21SPEAKER_15: I mean, they weren't big hits.
- 1:27:23SPEAKER_05: No, but still great songs.
- 1:27:25SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:28:23SPEAKER_15: So that was a single.
- 1:28:24SPEAKER_15: Yeah, I know.
- 1:28:25SPEAKER_15: Uh this one was two.
- 1:28:28SPEAKER_15: This is changed.
- 1:28:30SPEAKER_15: I know I said one more song, but I just feel good.
- 1:28:56SPEAKER_10: One of these days.
- 1:29:06SPEAKER_10: But now it's day.
- 1:29:09SPEAKER_10: One of these days, my I I know I said one more song, but this is definitely one more song.
- 1:29:18SPEAKER_15: This is the last one I'm gonna play.
- 1:29:19SPEAKER_15: Next one.
- 1:29:19SPEAKER_15: What do you think it is?
- 1:29:21SPEAKER_05: What do you mean?
- 1:29:22SPEAKER_05: What do you think?
- 1:29:22SPEAKER_05: What song do you think it is?
- 1:29:23SPEAKER_05: Uh probably Between the River and Middle.
- 1:29:24SPEAKER_05: It is.
- 1:29:28SPEAKER_05: Oh, yeah.
- 1:29:29SPEAKER_05: It's such a great story.
- 1:29:30SPEAKER_05: It's one of the great country songs because of such a great story.
- 1:29:33SPEAKER_05: It's like a murder ballad.
- 1:29:34SPEAKER_05: Exactly.
- 1:29:35SPEAKER_05: Tim McGraw cut this.
- 1:29:37SPEAKER_05: If you knew that.
- 1:29:37SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:29:38SPEAKER_05: I think that's how I f I first heard it.
- 1:29:42SPEAKER_05: I don't like Tim's version.
- 1:29:43SPEAKER_05: No, I I mean I liked it, and then I heard their version of it.
- 1:29:46SPEAKER_05: So much better.
- 1:29:46SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:29:47SPEAKER_15: This is this is and I may play the whole thing, I don't know.
- 1:29:49SPEAKER_15: Because you kind of have to to get the story.
- 1:29:51SPEAKER_05: Yeah, otherwise you can't get the story.
- 1:29:53SPEAKER_15: Between the river and me, it's just and musically, too.
- 1:29:56SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 1:29:57SPEAKER_15: Musically, it's just unreal.
- 1:30:06SPEAKER_10: I was fifteen when my daddy died.
- 1:30:08SPEAKER_10: Mama worked two jobs just to get by.
- 1:30:11SPEAKER_10: It seemed like a blessing when Harley came around.
- 1:30:14SPEAKER_10: So she took his name, but I had my bound.
- 1:30:20SPEAKER_10: Didn't take long for his drinking weeds to start showing up on mama's face.
- 1:30:25SPEAKER_10: One violent night hiding under my bed.
- 1:30:28SPEAKER_10: Or daddy wouldn't see another step.
- 1:31:05SPEAKER_05: Yeah, it's it's such a great story.
- 1:31:08SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:31:08SPEAKER_05: Such a great story.
- 1:31:09SPEAKER_05: It really is.
- 1:31:10SPEAKER_15: Um and they they also have, I mean, for those of you that are listening that uh you have to that you're Swifties.
- 1:31:17SPEAKER_15: You know, you have to have some sort of connection to Taylor Swift.
- 1:31:19SPEAKER_15: They have written songs for Taylor Swift.
- 1:31:21SPEAKER_15: Oh, I'm sure.
- 1:31:22SPEAKER_15: So uh they do have that cred.
- 1:31:24SPEAKER_15: That uh that street cred.
- 1:31:25SPEAKER_15: There you go.
- 1:31:26SPEAKER_15: Uh check them out if you ever get a chance.
- 1:31:28SPEAKER_15: The Warren Brothers.
- 1:31:29SPEAKER_15: What they typically do now is uh corporate functions.
- 1:31:34SPEAKER_15: Like um like corporations will hire uh a a bunch of uh famous songwriters to come and just play their the hits that they've written.
- 1:31:42SPEAKER_15: Oh right, yeah.
- 1:31:43SPEAKER_15: And and and sometimes they'll do f like fundraisers and things like that.
- 1:31:46SPEAKER_15: So I mean that's really how they're making their money, but I mean they're they occasionally have I I think Br um Brett Warren said on that podcast that I listened to that they hadn't had a song on the radio in four years.
- 1:31:59SPEAKER_15: They have one now, right?

- 1:32:39SPEAKER_15: So I mean I mean who can ask for more than and Brad Warren uh he he talks about their philosophy.
