- 0:02I still think it's one of the funniest things that you go and
- 0:04set up a sting. Oh, putting in covert cameras
- 0:09without and you don't even realize.
- 0:12Or maybe if I'm going to actually take it to court, I
- 0:16need to have a warrant? So people have asked what
- 0:32happened to the chocolate thief, the Queensland police officer.
- 0:36Chocolate thief. You know $36 worth of think
- 0:40chocolates and chips and Vicky's or whatever from the social club
- 0:45and that he's taking. He's taken the he's taken the
- 0:48snacks without ticking it up for the Social Club, obviously, just
- 0:53to refresh your memory, we'll go through a couple of videos just
- 0:55so you remember what I'm talking about.
- 0:59It's still one of the funniest things I've heard.
- 1:01Anyway, check this out. Senior Constable Thomas Patton
- 1:09charged with pinching snacks from the social club at Long
- 1:12Reach police station, $36 worth of chocolate, soft drink and ice
- 1:17cream allegedly taken without being ticked off on the IOU.
- 1:22Now, did you see that a little one of these little signs up
- 1:28there that said stealing is a sin?
- 1:31Which I do agree with 100%. Stealing.
- 1:35Thou shalt not steal. It's one of the 10 commandments.
- 1:40Just seems a little ironic that it goes.
- 1:42It's in a sign inside the police station.
- 1:45Sheet Mr. Patton. Intends to defend the
- 1:48allegation. It was an elaborate sting for
- 1:50the alleged petty crime. Colleagues set up covert cameras
- 1:54to catch one of their own they didn't have.
- 1:57The required warrant. Is Long Reach police station a
- 1:59toxic workplace? Oh OK, besides the fact I have
- 2:05to overlook the fact that this falls a redhead.
- 2:13Ohh. Anyway, I'll I'll forget that
- 2:15do. You ever take from the snack
- 2:17wall and not pay? Yeah, 100%.
- 2:20Where chips are illegally sold separately and swiped without
- 2:24payment. So of course there's that issue
- 2:29as well. So the two things with this
- 2:34case, the warrant, they didn't have a warrant, They needed a
- 2:38warrant Inside a police station. You it's not just because since
- 2:43the police but anyway you need a warrant obviously and these
- 2:48packets of chips these products that they were selling they
- 2:51always have the notice the little label on the on the
- 2:54bigger packets I think is that you know not to be sold not for
- 2:57individual sale. So technically are they not even
- 3:01technically is it they're illegally.
- 3:04They're being sold illegally, which you know that that goes on
- 3:08throughout Australia, everywhere.
- 3:10It's always gone on in canteens all over, all over Australia.
- 3:16So what's the final outcome? This headline, which came out
- 3:22from the Korea Mail and it came out a while ago, I just, I read
- 3:26it and thought, crikey, it's just fizzled out basically
- 3:30exactly what they said. Everything that's wrong with QPS
- 3:33cops $36 chocolate theft case fizzles out.
- 3:37So charge of theft against an officer who took $36.00 of
- 3:40convictionary from Station social club without pain that is
- 3:45now has now been dropped, has been slammed by union by the
- 3:50union as a perfect example of everything that is wrong with
- 3:53the Queensland Police Service. So yeah, it just like I said
- 3:58poor leadership within the Q, PS:.
- 4:00QPS and not training. They're not raising up leaders,
- 4:05they're raising up managers to manage situations, and this
- 4:09situation has been managed very, very poorly, so the whole thing
- 4:13has just been dropped. Q PS:.
- 4:16In this situation has just come out looking like a bit of a
- 4:19joke. Very unfortunate for them.
- 4:25I still think it's one of the funniest things that you go and
- 4:27set up a sting. Oh, putting in covert cameras
- 4:32without and you don't even realize.
- 4:35Well, maybe if I'm going to actually take it to court, I
- 4:38need to have a warrant. Oh, it's the funniest thing I've
- 4:46heard. Oh, you gotta laugh sometimes.
- 4:49Anyway, catch you later, they
