- 1:32So you're tuned into, ladies and gentlemen, another
- 1:34powerful, amazing episode of the ever popular Inspirations
- 1:39for Your Life show.
- 1:40Today's Monday.
- 1:41Yes.
- 1:42And our Monday episode of the Inspirations for
- 1:45Your Life show.
- 1:46This is the daily motivational show.
- 1:49This is a show that helps you think
- 1:51sharper, feel stronger and lead your life on
- 1:54purpose.
- 1:55By the way, this is John Seymour, serial
- 1:58entrepreneur, marketing specialist, video producer, podcast host, coach,
- 2:03graduate student and a passionate lifelong learner.
- 2:06And I'm here to guide you through practical
- 2:10high impact mindset shifts you can actually use
- 2:14in the real world, not just as a
- 2:18repost of quotes.
- 2:19So tonight's master topic in spotting real life
- 2:23is quiet courage, saying yes when you're scared
- 2:29and our focus is doing the right thing,
- 2:32the next right thing.
- 2:33Even when you're a little nervous, if you've
- 2:36been hesitating on a decision, overthinking your next
- 2:40move or waiting to feel ready, this episode
- 2:43is just for you.
- 2:45So without any further ado, guys, let's go
- 2:46ahead and kick this show off.
- 2:47OK, number one, you don't need to be
- 2:51fearless.
- 2:53You don't need to be fearless.
- 2:55You need to move while afraid.
- 2:58Fear can ride the car, but it doesn't
- 3:00get to touch the steering wheel.
- 3:02And when you move anyway, that's where quiet
- 3:05courage starts to grow.
- 3:08Number two, guys, the scariest yes probably built
- 3:13you the most.
- 3:15Think back.
- 3:16Your scariest yes starting, leaving, speaking up probably
- 3:20built you more than any safe choice you've
- 3:23had.
- 3:24Remembering that your biggest growth came from your
- 3:28boldest yes makes the next one easier to
- 3:31give even with butterflies.
- 3:34Number three, guys, if you wait to feel
- 3:37ready, you'll never start.
- 3:40Ready is usually a story your brain tells
- 3:43to delay discomfort.
- 3:45Start before you feel ready with one imperfect
- 3:48step and you'll discover readiness is not a
- 3:51prerequisite for action.
- 3:54It's a byproduct of doing.
- 3:56Number four, guys, your comfort zone never claps
- 4:00for you.
- 4:01Nope, never does.
- 4:03Your comfort zone is safe and familiar, but
- 4:07it never claps for you.
- 4:08Real applause inside and outside shows up when
- 4:13you cross the invisible line into risk, growth
- 4:17and possibility.
- 4:19Number five, ask, will I like who I
- 4:24become if I do this?
- 4:26Before any risk, ask, will I like who
- 4:29I become if I do this?
- 4:32When decisions are anchored in who you're becoming
- 4:35instead of what you might lose, even messy
- 4:39outcomes feel more peaceful.
- 4:42I think that's a challenge for a lot
- 4:43of people.
- 4:44Fear doesn't always mean stop.
- 4:48Fear doesn't always mean stop.
- 4:49Sometimes it just means pay attention.
- 4:54Be alert.
- 4:55Ask, is this fear protecting me from danger
- 4:58or just from a discomfort that I have?
- 5:02And then move, well, thoughtfully instead of automatically
- 5:06slamming the brakes.
- 5:07So I've told you before, when we move
- 5:10autonomously and we are not tuned into the
- 5:14moment of life, well, we rob ourselves from
- 5:18the joy, from the beauty, from the creativity.
- 5:27Number seven, guys, you can renegotiate decisions.
- 5:31You're not signing your life away with one
- 5:33choice.
- 5:34Most decisions are experiments you can tweak or
- 5:38exit.
- 5:39Telling yourself, I'll try this for 30 days
- 5:41and review gives your brain a safety valve
- 5:45and makes action possible again.
- 5:50Number eight, guys, the real risk is staying
- 5:53stuck.
- 5:54The risk isn't only what if I fail,
- 5:58it's what if I stay here forever?
- 6:00When you factor in the cost of an
- 6:02unlived life, staying put often turns out to
- 6:06be the more dangerous option.
- 6:08It may not seem it, but it is.
- 6:11Number nine, guys, you already survived your worst
- 6:13days.
- 6:14You've already survived heartbreak, loss, disappointment, and you're
- 6:22still here.
- 6:23Remembering your resilience shrinks the fear around one
- 6:30more bold move to something you can actually
- 6:35handle.
- 6:36Turn big change into three tiny experiments.
- 6:41I must change everything paralyzes you.
- 6:45I'll run three tiny experiments, get you moving.
- 6:49Break big goals into small tests like one
- 6:52message call, one call per week, one tweak,
- 6:56and you'll find the mountain is really just
- 6:59three pebbles deep.
- 7:01Number 11, are you perhaps terrified and maybe
- 7:04you're committed and wondering how that can coexist?
- 7:09You're allowed to be both terrified and committed
- 7:13at the same time.
- 7:14Yes, you are.
- 7:15Courage is choosing to move in the direction
- 7:17of your values while fear screams the background.
- 7:22Number 12, guys, I think this is an
- 7:26important one to to to understand a very,
- 7:29very important one.
- 7:30I think you're definitely going to want to
- 7:33understand.
- 7:34And I'll tell you guys that.
- 7:39It's important to to understand this.
- 7:43If it scares you and excites you, well,
- 7:48look closer, that mix of fear and excitement
- 7:51often signals an opportunity that will grow you.
- 7:55Instead of running, ask, is this danger or
- 7:59is this me stepping into a bigger version
- 8:02of myself?
- 8:03Number 13, write down the worst case scenario.
- 8:09Get the monster out of your head and
- 8:11onto paper.
- 8:12Once you see the real worst case scenario,
- 8:15you can make a plan to cope, recover.
- 8:19And fear just shrinks.
- 8:22Catastrophic and now manageable.
- 8:26I think that's what a lot of people
- 8:27want to see.
- 8:27They want to see that, you know, we
- 8:29can make these changes in our life.
- 8:32And we don't need to be imprisoned by
- 8:34something that someone's telling us.
- 8:36Number 14, guys, a good risk makes you
- 8:42more honest.
- 8:44A good risk doesn't just make you more
- 8:48impressive, it makes you more honest.
- 8:51The best risks bring your outer life closer
- 8:54to your inner truth, even if they don't
- 8:57look flashy from the outside.
- 8:59Number 15, you don't have to broadcast every
- 9:03brave step.
- 9:05You can take courageous steps without announcing them
- 9:09to the world.
- 9:10Quiet courage happens in private emails, applications, boundaries
- 9:16and decisions.
- 9:19You never post about those.
- 9:21Number 16, tiny brave acts still count.
- 9:26Sending the email, booking the call, right?
- 9:32Asking the question, asking the question.
- 9:38These tiny moves count.
- 9:43Small brave acts, repeated compound into new opportunities,
- 9:48new skills and a new story about who
- 9:51you are.
- 9:52I think that's an important thing to understand.
- 9:54Number 17, fear is loud.
- 9:57Your values are quiet.
- 10:01Fear yells, your values whisper.
- 10:05Great silence long enough to ask what actually
- 10:08matters here and let your values guide you
- 10:11instead of your panic.
- 10:14Number 18, let future of you be the
- 10:19advisor.
- 10:20Ask a future me, told the story.
- 10:23Would they be proud?
- 10:25I tried.
- 10:26Future you usually cares less about perfection and
- 10:29more about the fact that you didn't abandon
- 10:32your own potential.
- 10:35I think when we can brainstorm about potential,
- 10:39I think that's something a lot of people
- 10:40don't really get.
- 10:44Sometimes where we are in the moment is
- 10:47important, but it's not everything.
- 10:52We have to understand what this is, and
- 10:56I think that's something really important for us
- 11:05to to grab a hold of, thinking about
- 11:09what all these things mean, thinking about what
- 11:11they can do for us, thinking about how
- 11:14our life can change by just being in
- 11:20the moment.
- 11:21Number 19, please start with the smallest version
- 11:25of the scary thing.
- 11:27Take the smallest version of what scares you.
- 11:31Speak to five people instead of 50.
- 11:34Post once instead of weekly.
- 11:37Take one class instead of enrolling fully.
- 11:40Small versions are still real reps and they
- 11:43build confidence.
- 11:44So why is it that we don't take
- 11:46those?
- 11:47Maybe you don't think there's a choice.
- 11:50But actually, that choice that can help us
- 11:54to get closer to what we want is
- 11:57what we should be embracing.
- 11:59Number 20, guys.
- 12:02Your first yes can be a calendar block.
- 12:06Your first yes doesn't have to be a
- 12:08contract.
- 12:09It can be a calendar block.
- 12:11When you schedule 30 minutes for the thing
- 12:13you've been avoiding, you move from vague intention
- 12:17to real commitment.
- 12:19And I think that's something a lot of
- 12:21people don't understand, is that commitment is not
- 12:24something we just do once.
- 12:26Commitment is an ongoing diet of things that
- 12:29we have to keep doing.
- 12:30I think that's an important piece, is understanding
- 12:33what that commitment really means to us and
- 12:36how it's going to embrace us, right?
- 12:40I think that's a very important thing.
- 12:44Are you committed in life or do you
- 12:46just show up when it's convenient for you?
- 12:50I mean, I'm being honest here, guys.
- 12:52Do you just show up when you have
- 12:56the time or is it more than that?
- 13:01I hope it's more than that.
- 13:05Number 21, guys.
- 13:08Being responsible doesn't mean staying stuck.
- 13:11Being the responsible one doesn't mean tolerating situations
- 13:15that drain you.
- 13:17True responsibilities includes responsibility to your energy, your
- 13:21health, and your long term well-being.
- 13:26That's right.
- 13:27I said your long term well-being.
- 13:31That's something that a lot of people just
- 13:33don't seem to, they don't seem to understand
- 13:36like what that means.
- 13:38And I want to tell you that it's
- 13:40important.
- 13:42It's really, really important.
- 13:45Number 22, you're not indecisive.
- 13:47You're afraid of consequences.
- 13:51You're usually not indecisive.
- 13:53You're afraid of consequences.
- 13:55You haven't named yet.
- 13:58Write them down so you can problem solve.
- 14:02And then instead of letting a vague fog
- 14:04of fear freeze you, look at what is
- 14:08there and what you can do.
- 14:10I think these are very powerful things that
- 14:13a lot of us don't realize.
- 14:16Number 23, guys.
- 14:19Ask what would I do if I trusted
- 14:22myself?
- 14:27What would I do if I trusted myself?
- 14:34To cut through overthinking, ask what would I
- 14:37do if I trusted myself?
- 14:40Very often, guys, the next right step appears
- 14:43quickly.
- 14:44You've just been waiting for someone else to
- 14:48co-sign it.
- 14:51And that's a very interesting thought.
- 14:54If we want to brainstorm that for a
- 14:56minute, you know, we have to think about
- 14:58what that means.
- 15:00Number 24, brave can look boring from the
- 15:04outside.
- 15:06Courage isn't always dramatic.
- 15:08Sometimes brave is therapy, budgeting, turning off your
- 15:12screen or choosing a healthy relationship.
- 15:15Things that look boring but change your life
- 15:18are where your secret sauce lies.
- 15:22And it's actually our secret sauce that gets
- 15:27us to be better.
- 15:29It gets us to understand why we're doing
- 15:33something a certain way or why we're not
- 15:35doing something.
- 15:37I think that's an important point.
- 15:41Because we have to understand that.
- 15:44OK, I think that's an important piece.
- 15:53That we can understand.
- 15:55And we can basically try to, let's say,
- 16:00to think.
- 16:06Right.
- 16:16I think.
- 16:18When we can embrace a moment.
- 16:21OK.
- 16:24And with that moment, we can start to
- 16:27maybe make some of our own deductions.
- 16:30We can say, look, this is where we
- 16:32are right now in our life.
- 16:34Now, it might not be where we currently
- 16:37want to be, but it's a part in
- 16:44our life that can make a huge difference
- 16:47for us.
- 16:48If we understand where we are at the
- 16:51moment and we understand how we're traversing through.
- 16:56That's going to make a big difference for
- 16:59everybody.
- 17:01Maybe you're not thinking about it because somebody
- 17:03else says, oh, you don't need to do
- 17:05that.
- 17:05But really, guys.
- 17:07You do need to do that, OK?
- 17:14You do need to do that.
- 17:17And I will tell you.
- 17:21That if you understand where you're at.
- 17:29Again, you may not like where you're at
- 17:30right now, but you at least understand where
- 17:34you're at and you know where you're going.
- 17:37I think that's a very important thing to
- 17:40understand and that's a very important thing to
- 17:44understand.
- 17:46And hopefully you can gain more insights to
- 17:48say, wait a minute, like now I see
- 17:51why I'm this way or why I'm that
- 17:53way.
- 18:06That's a very important thing to be pondering,
- 18:14thinking about the moment as we're talking today
- 18:17about quiet courage.
- 18:20Quiet courage is not.
- 18:24When you're loud and boisterous, right.
- 18:28It's not when you're trying to let everybody
- 18:31know what you're doing.
- 18:32Being quiet.
- 18:35Is an inner result and it's that step.
- 18:42It'll actually take you to another part of
- 18:45your life.
- 18:48Just being aware of quiet courage, quiet courage
- 18:56doesn't ask for anything.
- 19:02Quiet courage becomes.
- 19:07Like a pull of strength, it becomes.
- 19:14One of the.
- 19:16The corner.
- 19:19Foundations, pieces.
- 19:25Whatever reason we don't necessarily think about that,
- 19:32and that's something that a lot of people
- 19:34get confused about.
- 19:40You'll say, well, gee, if it's quiet courage,
- 19:42how am I ever going to go anywhere
- 19:43with it?
- 19:47Saying yes when you're scared.
- 19:50Is a very important part of quiet courage.
- 19:53Because we all get scared.
- 19:56But to say yes and do it anyway.
- 19:58That's quiet courage.
- 20:01That's not you getting up on a soapbox
- 20:03or getting up on a stage.
- 20:05It's you just being in the moment.
- 20:12That's pretty powerful, guys.
- 20:16Extremely powerful, actually, if you ask me.
- 20:22Very powerful.
- 20:24Number 25.
- 20:28Stop auditioning your dreams.
- 20:32Stop putting your dreams in front of an
- 20:34imaginary judging panel.
- 20:37Advice is fine, but at some point you
- 20:40must decide your dream is a responsibility, not
- 20:44a group project.
- 20:45A lot of times when we do this,
- 20:54we cause procrastination.
- 20:56We cause ourselves to backpedal.
- 20:59We've done so great work.
- 21:02And then we start analyzing every little crevice.
- 21:08And the little bit of, let's say, positive
- 21:13feelings we have just sort of fall apart.
- 21:18Number 26, guys.
- 21:20If you tell your friend to go for
- 21:22it, why not you?
- 21:25You'd probably tell your best friend in your
- 21:29shoes to go for it.
- 21:31Tonight, give yourself the same encouragement you'd give
- 21:36them and take one step in that direction.
- 21:42Encouragement is a priceless piece of advice.
- 21:50Encouragement helps raise the dopamine in our brains.
- 21:55Encouragement helps us to ponder life's questions.
- 22:05Encouragement helps us to celebrate the victory and
- 22:08then come back and do it again next
- 22:10time.
- 22:11Number 27, guys.
- 22:14You don't need a five-year plan, just
- 22:18a five-minute action.
- 22:19Long-range plans are helpful, but they can
- 22:22also become, well, procrastination.
- 22:25Ask, what can I do in the next
- 22:28five minutes to move this forward?
- 22:31Then do that.
- 22:33One small action consistently is your key.
- 22:41One small action.
- 22:49One small action is the key to success.
- 22:54Number 28, guys.
- 22:57Don't ghost your own potential.
- 22:59Courage.
- 23:01Deciding not to ghost your own potential anymore
- 23:04is key.
- 23:05Show up for your ideas and gifts even
- 23:08briefly and you teach yourself, I am worth
- 23:12my own time and the energy.
- 23:16Number 29, guys.
- 23:19Imagine regret and then move to avoid it.
- 23:25Imagine the future you saying, I could have
- 23:28tried, but I didn't.
- 23:31And feel that sting for a moment.
- 23:34Let that imagined regret push you into one
- 23:38honest, courageous action today.
- 23:44Again, I've said to you to keep a
- 23:47hold of what is going on.
- 23:55Keep a hold of what your mind is
- 23:58doing.
- 23:59And I say this to you because we
- 24:02have to be aware of things in our
- 24:05lives.
- 24:06We have to be aware of where we
- 24:09stand right now, what we believe in right
- 24:11now.
- 24:15We also have to embrace the challenges that
- 24:19sometimes surface when other people don't support our
- 24:21dreams.
- 24:24But you're your own best supporter.
- 24:26You need to continue with that, guys.
- 24:29You need to always be your best supporter
- 24:33because you'll always be your best cheerleader.
- 24:38And when that happens, it's like, well, they
- 24:43say you've got a friend in me, right?
- 24:44Remember the movie?
- 24:47It helps us to ground ourselves, to think
- 24:53about who we were yesterday, to think about
- 24:56who we are today, to think about change
- 25:02in our life.
- 25:07I think that's a very important point, change
- 25:16in our life.
- 25:20Change in our life happens because we made
- 25:24a realization that we're not happy where we
- 25:28are at the given moment.
- 25:31We've made that deduction in our own mind.
- 25:38And we have to remember that doing something
- 25:41and being scared sometimes is the best way.
- 25:45Even though it might not seem it at
- 25:49the moment or at the time.
- 25:54When we focus and we can exude quiet
- 26:00courage, we become an unstoppable force that no
- 26:10one can stop.
- 26:14No one can redirect.
- 26:27I think that's important to understand.
- 26:32I think if we can ponder the fact
- 26:37of who we are right now in the
- 26:39given moment, we can anchor ourselves.
- 26:45We can choose to be better.
- 26:48Notice I said, ladies and gentlemen, we can
- 26:50choose to be better.
- 26:52I didn't necessarily say we are better.
- 26:54I said we could choose to be better.
- 26:56I think that's a very...
- 26:59I think that's an important thing that a
- 27:01lot of people just don't get.
