- 1:19Speaker 1: and it's gonna be a great conversation. So let's get
- 1:22Speaker 1: right to it. Joining us this week and coming to

- 1:34Speaker 1: X sing maybe posting freaking Twitter and x.
- 1:37Speaker 2: You can find him at Brendan Dieg Underscore. Good friend
- 1:41Speaker 2: of the show, Brendan Deeg. Buddy, How you doing Man?
- 1:43Speaker 3: Thanks for joining us, Jeff, I'm doing well. Appreciate having
- 1:46Speaker 3: me on.
- 1:46Speaker 4: Man.
- 1:46Speaker 3: How's your David.
- 1:47Speaker 2: It's not been bad so far.
- 1:48Speaker 1: You know, I'm still digesting what this Eagles offseason has been.
- 1:52Speaker 1: We're certainly gonna be getting into it on this table
- 1:55Speaker 1: talk interview discussion with you. But like I've been telling
- 1:58Speaker 1: folks when they come on the show, on the high
- 2:00Speaker 1: from the super Bowl, like, I'm not over it yet.
- 2:02Speaker 1: I'm still I'm still on the high from this team
- 2:05Speaker 1: bringing home the championship.
- 2:06Speaker 2: How have you been feeling with it?
- 2:08Speaker 3: I'm kind of the.
- 2:09Speaker 4: Same way, Like a lot of a lot of people
- 2:11Speaker 4: are kind of freaking out about the lack of moves
- 2:14Speaker 4: or what moves Eagles have made, and I'm just I'm
- 2:16Speaker 4: kind of in the same boat as you. I'm still
- 2:18Speaker 4: watching DeVonta Smith's touchdown up twenty four and yes, whenever
- 2:22Speaker 4: I'm sad, you know or whatever, Yes, yeah, my favorite
- 2:25Speaker 4: it's to become my favorite play in EGE. I've been
- 2:28Speaker 4: Eagles fan for twenty plus years. I think it does
- 2:30Speaker 4: take the cake at this point.
- 2:31Speaker 3: But absolutely, yeah, it's been I've been doing well.
- 2:33Speaker 4: I guess it's still Hi, still on the high from
- 2:35Speaker 4: Super Bowl with you as well, and we're getting the
- 2:37Speaker 4: draft season. It's kind of where at that turning point
- 2:39Speaker 4: of free of the draft, so it's kind of a
- 2:41Speaker 4: new era of the offseason coming.
- 2:42Speaker 2: Absolutely.
- 2:43Speaker 1: Look, it does surprise me that there's so many within
- 2:45Speaker 1: the Eagles Nation, so many Eagles fans that are.
- 2:47Speaker 2: Saying, oh, the team's not doing that much.
- 2:49Speaker 1: I honestly think we've seen a ton of moves, trades, releases,
- 2:53Speaker 1: and acquisitions from Howie Roseman and company over the past
- 2:57Speaker 1: week or so. Brendan and I guess, you know, to
- 2:59Speaker 1: get us started on this discussion here with this Eagles offseason,
- 3:03Speaker 1: I'm wondering, is there one transaction that how He has
- 3:06Speaker 1: made that you really like and think it's going to
- 3:09Speaker 1: be a really good move for this team long term? Like,
- 3:13Speaker 1: what's that one transaction? That you've liked thus far this season,
- 3:16Speaker 1: and why have you liked it so much?
- 3:19Speaker 4: So I get the one that I like the most
- 3:21Speaker 4: so far. There's not one that I don't think is
- 3:24Speaker 4: going to be specifically long term. Like all the moves
- 3:26Speaker 4: i've been short term deals. Correct, like you, they're all
- 3:28Speaker 4: one year signs. I guess you can look at the
- 3:30Speaker 4: Kenyan Green trade as potential long term, but he's going
- 3:33Speaker 4: to be a free agent after the season, so it
- 3:35Speaker 4: is a one year kind of let's see what he
- 3:38Speaker 4: can do. Let' see if we can build him up
- 3:39Speaker 4: into something type of move. I like the josh Uche signing.
- 3:42Speaker 4: I think it has a little bit of upside. He
- 3:45Speaker 4: had eleven half sackson New England a couple years ago. Now,
- 3:47Speaker 4: if you kind of go back and look at the
- 3:49Speaker 4: sacks during that season, I think for them were on
- 3:51Speaker 4: Sam Ellinger of the Colts.
- 3:53Speaker 3: I believe I was going back in what he was
- 3:54Speaker 3: a couple of days ago.
- 3:56Speaker 4: So I was like, all right, like the Colts' third
- 3:58Speaker 4: string quarterback kind of got taking advantage of by josh Uche.
- 4:02Speaker 4: But there were some nice pass rushes in there. Last season,
- 4:05Speaker 4: he didn't have any any production with Kansas City. He
- 4:09Speaker 4: was actually a healthy scratch in the Super Bowl down
- 4:11Speaker 4: the stretch, but I saw some pass rush juice there.
- 4:13Speaker 4: So if the if Vic Fangi likes him, then I
- 4:16Speaker 4: think the egos have to be kind of egos fans
- 4:17Speaker 4: have to be kind of on board with this as well,
- 4:19Speaker 4: because I think he's earned a lot of trust in
- 4:21Speaker 4: the building just what he's We saw what he did
- 4:23Speaker 4: coaching in the Super Bowl. He coached that entire season.
- 4:25Speaker 4: He did phenomenal. So obviously he has a big say
- 4:27Speaker 4: now at the No overcare complex. So I do think
- 4:29Speaker 4: the josh Uch signing to me is the highest upside
- 4:32Speaker 4: of potential return out of all them so far.
- 4:35Speaker 3: But again it's not long term. I would say all
- 4:38Speaker 3: the all the.
- 4:39Speaker 4: Moves that how He has made has been kind of
- 4:41Speaker 4: a one year let's see what you can do kind
- 4:43Speaker 4: of deal.
- 4:44Speaker 3: Throw it at the dark board. Basically.
- 4:45Speaker 1: Yeah, absolutely, Look, you know, I think we need to
- 4:49Speaker 1: give Howie Roseman in the front office the benefit of
- 4:51Speaker 1: the doubt with just about all the moves that they
- 4:54Speaker 1: have been making thus far in this offseason. You win
- 4:57Speaker 1: the Super Bowl and I think you've earned that benefit
- 4:59Speaker 1: of the doubt. But I mean moving along. I mean,
- 5:03Speaker 1: it really seems that Howie in the Eagles front office
- 5:05Speaker 1: they have a good grasp Brendan on what team building
- 5:09Speaker 1: really means here in the NFL in twenty twenty five.
- 5:13Speaker 1: I mean, look, they're not the Raiders, they're not the Browns,
- 5:16Speaker 1: they're not the Jaguars. Howie and company seems to really
- 5:20Speaker 1: understand the modern day NFL and how to build around
- 5:24Speaker 1: certain players, how to build around their strengths, understanding the
- 5:28Speaker 1: cap situation, understanding salaries, going to the point of what
- 5:34Speaker 1: are we going to possibly see in terms of depth
- 5:37Speaker 1: with this team at different positions. So, how would you
- 5:40Speaker 1: describe how the Eagles front office has really grown over
- 5:44Speaker 1: all these years and what their place is within the
- 5:47Speaker 1: NFL ranks at this point here in twenty twenty five.
- 5:51Speaker 4: Yeah, So, I think when you look back at like
- 5:53Speaker 4: twenty eighteen twenty nineteen, they were kind of trying to
- 5:56Speaker 4: put band aids on a bunch of holes on the
- 5:59Speaker 4: roster after Super Bowl team, and we saw kind of
- 6:02Speaker 4: falter right the twenty eighteen to twenty nineteen Eagles didn't
- 6:04Speaker 4: make the playoffs, and the twenty twenty it all came
- 6:06Speaker 4: kind of crashing down Now, what Howie and the Eagles
- 6:09Speaker 4: have done is continue to sign players early and get
- 6:12Speaker 4: it taken advantage of that. Now, the Carson Wentz signing
- 6:15Speaker 4: is the one that kind of didn't work out, but
- 6:17Speaker 4: they were able. They got saved by the Colts for
- 6:19Speaker 4: taking that contract. Well, the Eagles I think got like
- 6:22Speaker 4: thirty six million dead money in twenty twenty one to
- 6:24Speaker 4: touch the Carson Wentz, but they got draft capital out
- 6:26Speaker 4: of that, and then they flipped that to get guys
- 6:29Speaker 4: like Jalen Carter and other talented players on the roster.
- 6:32Speaker 4: They're just right now of a team that they they're
- 6:35Speaker 4: so good at identifying talent and paying them early where
- 6:37Speaker 4: they're not going to get bit by it later on
- 6:39Speaker 4: later on down the line. We're kind of seeing it
- 6:42Speaker 4: play out right now. The Eagles are trying to save cash.
- 6:45Speaker 4: They're trying to save cap as much as possible because
- 6:48Speaker 4: Quinnon Mitchell and Jalen Carter are going to combine for
- 6:50Speaker 4: seventy million dollars. Jailnen Card is going to get paid
- 6:53Speaker 4: a ton of money next offseason. Quey On Mitchell in
- 6:55Speaker 4: two years, coup of de Gene will have to get paid.
- 6:58Speaker 4: I know we're talking years down the line here, but
- 7:00Speaker 4: this is how they operate. This is how they think.
- 7:02Speaker 4: There's a reason why they trade C. J. Grena Johnson away.
- 7:04Speaker 4: They save cash up front right now and then caps
- 7:07Speaker 4: based down the road. Jeffery Learis is putting a lot
- 7:09Speaker 4: of money. They just it's kind of two ways to
- 7:12Speaker 4: look at the NFL. Cash in salary cap, they're two
- 7:15Speaker 4: different things. The Eagles have been in the top of
- 7:17Speaker 4: cash spending, I believe top ten in the last three years.
- 7:20Speaker 4: They were second last season, So I mean, Jeffrey Larry's
- 7:22Speaker 4: spending a lot of mula right now, and you know,
- 7:24Speaker 4: a lot of owners don't love doing that. Larry's been
- 7:27Speaker 4: proactive and doing that. That's why he's one of the
- 7:28Speaker 4: better owners. But at some point you do have to
- 7:30Speaker 4: kind of save some money for future years, and that's
- 7:32Speaker 4: kind of what in salad cap and cash and that's
- 7:35Speaker 4: what they're kind of operating as of right now. But
- 7:37Speaker 4: when it comes to the up like where they rank
- 7:39Speaker 4: in the NFL, I don't think there's a front office
- 7:41Speaker 4: that I would trust more, especially how everything's been out
- 7:45Speaker 4: for the last.
- 7:45Speaker 3: Four years now.
- 7:46Speaker 4: There was a lot of talking twenty twenty that everyone
- 7:48Speaker 4: want how he has been fired and may have been
- 7:50Speaker 4: on board.
- 7:50Speaker 3: With that just a little and they didn't get fired, right.
- 7:56Speaker 4: I trust that. That's why this this what, That's what
- 7:58Speaker 4: this offseason has been to me. Just just trust what
- 7:59Speaker 4: he trust them all the way till August. The roster's
- 8:03Speaker 4: not going to be built till August. We saw CG.
- 8:04Speaker 4: Gunnar Johnson get acquired in twenty twenty two. Yeah, like
- 8:07Speaker 4: August thirtieth, right, there's still so much time for these moves.
- 8:09Speaker 4: But yeah, I trust this front office well heartily. I
- 8:13Speaker 4: like what they've done, so I like what they've done
- 8:15Speaker 4: the last two years. This offseason has been fine in
- 8:17Speaker 4: my opinion, So there's no reason not to trust them.
- 8:20Speaker 4: And I think they definitely have to be in the
- 8:22Speaker 4: top three off I guess front offices in the NFL absolutely.
- 8:25Speaker 2: Look, you mentioned CJ. Gardner Johnson.
- 8:27Speaker 1: He's somebody who before he was even brought to the NFL,
- 8:31Speaker 1: I was hoping that the Eagles would be able to
- 8:34Speaker 1: acquire him. They weren't able to draft him, but boy,
- 8:37Speaker 1: they got him twice over the course of the past
- 8:39Speaker 1: few years. And you know, a lot of fans were
- 8:42Speaker 1: upset by the trade. When I initially saw it, Brendan.
- 8:45Speaker 1: I was disappointed, of course, especially you know how they
- 8:49Speaker 1: brought in one of the worst offensive guards in the
- 8:52Speaker 1: NFL and Kenyon Green to compete with Tyler Steen in
- 8:55Speaker 1: the future. But at the end of the day, I
- 8:57Speaker 1: understood it from a pure number standpoint, salary standpoint. Aside
- 9:03Speaker 1: from Kenyon Green here, I mean there is a concern
- 9:07Speaker 1: now with CJ. Gardner Johnson not there about what the
- 9:10Speaker 1: safety position is going to look like. Sidney Brown going
- 9:13Speaker 1: to potentially be the starter next season. Right next to
- 9:17Speaker 1: read blank and Ship, I'm wondering, are you concerned about
- 9:20Speaker 1: where the safety position is heading this coming season and
- 9:24Speaker 1: if it could be detrimental to the defense?
- 9:26Speaker 2: What are your thoughts?
- 9:28Speaker 4: Yeah, this is a position that I'll definitely be eyeing
- 9:30Speaker 4: in the draft. There's some guys, there's some kind of
- 9:33Speaker 4: prospects that should hang around at pick thirty two if
- 9:35Speaker 4: the Eagles acide to stay in the first round. But
- 9:38Speaker 4: right now, it's not pretty on the back of the
- 9:41Speaker 4: depth show like it's not awful like Read blanket Ship,
- 9:43Speaker 4: I think is about an average starting safety in the league.
- 9:45Speaker 4: Right and then right now, I think like Tristan McCullum
- 9:47Speaker 4: and Sidney Brown would be fighting for the starting job,
- 9:49Speaker 4: and that's not great. I like Sidney Brown. I was
- 9:52Speaker 4: a fan of him. He's also Canadian. I'm Canadian as well,
- 9:54Speaker 4: so I've been a big fan of him coming out
- 9:55Speaker 4: of the draft. Ye love a Sidney Brown. But he's
- 9:58Speaker 4: been injured forwards ACL at the end of twenty twenty three,
- 10:02Speaker 4: didn't didn't get into the lineup until later in twenty
- 10:05Speaker 4: twenty four. He doesn't have any really full on starting experience.
- 10:09Speaker 4: He is injury prone. We've seen the way he plays.
- 10:11Speaker 4: He plays very recklessly. Now I do think that him
- 10:15Speaker 4: and Rebankenship can't click because Rebikeship can kind of play
- 10:17Speaker 4: the deep back of the deep back half of the
- 10:20Speaker 4: of the defense, and you can kind of put Sidney
- 10:22Speaker 4: Brown up board into the box and be more of
- 10:24Speaker 4: kind of coming a downhill safety. So in theory that
- 10:27Speaker 4: can work. But I do think that they should bring
- 10:29Speaker 4: in competition and I do think that this is a
- 10:32Speaker 4: position to watch in the draft and after kind of
- 10:34Speaker 4: similar to like what.
- 10:36Speaker 3: I said earlier, were they trade for CG. Garner Johnson
- 10:38Speaker 3: at the end of August. When it comes to the CJ.
- 10:40Speaker 4: Gardner Johnson trade, I was more caught off guard because
- 10:42Speaker 4: I didn't think he was going to be available. I
- 10:44Speaker 4: did think that they would hold on hold on to
- 10:45Speaker 4: him for at least one more season. His contract was
- 10:48Speaker 4: kind of like a two year deal with the cap
- 10:50Speaker 4: to save money. I didn't really have the cash spending
- 10:53Speaker 4: in the back of my mind when it came to it,
- 10:56Speaker 4: but I do understand it, and I do you think
- 11:00Speaker 4: that if there's anyway, if there's one position on the
- 11:03Speaker 4: team where you can kind of save money where you
- 11:05Speaker 4: said we can kind of go and find other replacements.
- 11:08Speaker 4: I do think safety is the optimal position. I've never
- 11:11Speaker 4: been I've never high valued to the safety position in
- 11:14Speaker 4: drenal less you have like a top guy, top three guy.
- 11:16Speaker 4: I do think you can kind of find plug and
- 11:17Speaker 4: play players at that position. And and you did save,
- 11:21Speaker 4: like I said, a little bit of cap space now
- 11:23Speaker 4: than some more in the future years and cash show.
- 11:25Speaker 3: I don't love it. I like CG. A.
- 11:27Speaker 4: Gunner Johnson. I thought he played well last year. He
- 11:29Speaker 4: made some big time plays in the run. He wasn't
- 11:32Speaker 4: the greatest in coverage because coverage numbers, especially in the
- 11:35Speaker 4: red zone, we're kind of flaky. But at the same time,
- 11:38Speaker 4: he was a fun player to kind of root for. Uh,
- 11:40Speaker 4: he got on the nerves of a lot of a
- 11:42Speaker 4: lot of opponents, which he kind of he kind of
- 11:44Speaker 4: had that like Philadelphia vibe to him.
- 11:48Speaker 3: Exactly. Yeah, so I he was kind of like a
- 11:49Speaker 3: fan favorite. So I get it.
- 11:51Speaker 4: But at the same time, it's at the end of
- 11:52Speaker 4: the world. I do think there there's definitely replacements there
- 11:54Speaker 4: that we can find the draft. Maybe City Brown steps
- 11:56Speaker 4: up and again a position to watch in trade heading
- 11:59Speaker 4: into training.
- 12:00Speaker 2: Right, very good again, folks.
- 12:01Speaker 1: We're talking to Brendan Dieg from the score thescore dot com.
- 12:05Speaker 1: He's the NFL news editor over there. They got great,
- 12:08Speaker 1: great content. Follow him on the Twitter slash x at
- 12:11Speaker 1: Brendan Dieg Underscore Buddy. Are you on any other social
- 12:14Speaker 1: media platforms like blue Sky or threads or anything. I
- 12:17Speaker 1: don't know if you want to get that out. If
- 12:18Speaker 1: you are just Twitter, okay, just God, bless you sticking
- 12:22Speaker 1: with one.
- 12:24Speaker 2: God, there's so many, there's so many.
- 12:25Speaker 3: Wow.
- 12:26Speaker 1: But look, speaking of the secondary here, you know, I'm
- 12:28Speaker 1: wondering what your thoughts are about the cornerback position and
- 12:31Speaker 1: who's going to be that cornerback two opposite of Kenyon Mitchell.
- 12:34Speaker 1: I mean the thoughts are that you know, Killey Ringo
- 12:37Speaker 1: is going to be competing for that job. I mean,
- 12:40Speaker 1: who knows how we may bring in another quarter cornerback
- 12:43Speaker 1: during the off season during training camp you mentioned like
- 12:46Speaker 1: we saw you know him in twenty twenty two, brings CJ.
- 12:48Speaker 1: Gardner Johnson in in August. I'm wondering, are we gonna
- 12:53Speaker 1: see competition there for cornerback two, you know, aside from
- 12:57Speaker 1: they brought into Dorri Jackson of course to compete for
- 12:59Speaker 1: the position as well. I'm wondering how concerned should we be?
- 13:03Speaker 1: How concerned are you about the cornerback two role moving
- 13:06Speaker 1: forward here?
- 13:08Speaker 4: I think they really like Kealey Ringo in the building.
- 13:10Speaker 4: That's kind of the vibe that I'm getting right now.
- 13:12Speaker 4: I think they would have tried to make something work
- 13:14Speaker 4: with Darius Lay if they didn't. Theodoria Jackson signing was
- 13:17Speaker 4: really cheap. I don't like Adorri Jackson, I guess is
- 13:20Speaker 4: a fine player. He played alright last season for the Giants,
- 13:23Speaker 4: and Giants gave up a brutal contract that were kind
- 13:25Speaker 4: of strapped to yeah, for I think I believe three
- 13:28Speaker 4: years that he was kind of stuck there. I think
- 13:30Speaker 4: that was a Dave Gettleman kind of chaos before he
- 13:32Speaker 4: left there, so they were kind of forced to have
- 13:34Speaker 4: him on the roster. I think it's gonna be key
- 13:37Speaker 4: Ringo corner over two. It sounds like they really like
- 13:39Speaker 4: him there. Like like I said, I think they would
- 13:40Speaker 4: have they would have paid. There was a lot of
- 13:43Speaker 4: cornerbacks on in free agency this year. They could have
- 13:45Speaker 4: found a starter, like a stop gap, one year starter
- 13:47Speaker 4: kind of like yeah, when they signed Steven Nelson in
- 13:49Speaker 4: twenty twenty one, similar to.
- 13:51Speaker 3: That, there was a lot of those guys out there.
- 13:53Speaker 4: There might still be some in phrase that I can't
- 13:56Speaker 4: think of the top of my head, but it's like said,
- 13:58Speaker 4: it sounds like they really like you Ringo. It sounds
- 13:59Speaker 4: like they want to go young there. He's been kind
- 14:02Speaker 4: of waiting in the wings for a couple of years.
- 14:04Speaker 4: It's his time to shine, and I think it will
- 14:06Speaker 4: be him. I think he will be the day one starter.
- 14:09Speaker 4: We'll see he's he's played like he's played, he stepped in,
- 14:12Speaker 4: he's played well. There's been some kind of downspots as well,
- 14:15Speaker 4: but there's not enough to kind of get not enough
- 14:17Speaker 4: just playing time to get.
- 14:18Speaker 3: A full grasp of what he can beat. But that
- 14:20Speaker 3: that's my guess on it.
- 14:21Speaker 4: And I've seen some like Cooper Egen goes outside and
- 14:24Speaker 4: they find a nickel corn.
- 14:25Speaker 3: That's not gonna happen. I don't like that.
- 14:27Speaker 4: Cooper Egen should stay and there is the nickel corner,
- 14:30Speaker 4: and yeah, I think it's gonna be a katy ringo
- 14:32Speaker 4: Quinion Mitchell, Cooper Egene secondary and it's kind of exciting you.
- 14:36Speaker 4: It's young, it's fun, and I think that's what you'll
- 14:39Speaker 4: see week one. Well.
- 14:39Speaker 1: I wonder too if how he may end up going
- 14:42Speaker 1: the route that he maybe went last year and and
- 14:45Speaker 1: it's something that you know, I don't know, they're on
- 14:47Speaker 1: too too many folks, I think talking about this and
- 14:49Speaker 1: maybe it's just pie in the sky thinking quite frankly Brendan.
- 14:52Speaker 1: But he was successful in the first two rounds with
- 14:55Speaker 1: the cornerback position. Scouting department obviously was successful in that
- 14:58Speaker 1: regard as well. He took a gamble on Quinnon, Mitchell
- 15:01Speaker 1: and then Cooper Degen taking two cornerbacks right out of
- 15:04Speaker 1: the gate. I wonder if he, you know, was talked
- 15:06Speaker 1: about the safety position. I wonder if he may look
- 15:09Speaker 1: at the cornerback position, since the cornerback position is pretty
- 15:12Speaker 1: deep in this year's draft.
- 15:13Speaker 4: As well, maybe they just spent two corners one and
- 15:17Speaker 4: two and last year's I think they're gonna go trenches.
- 15:20Speaker 3: I think they're gonna go O line D line. That's
- 15:22Speaker 3: what I actually think.
- 15:23Speaker 2: I was just kind of put that out there just
- 15:24Speaker 2: to see you.
- 15:25Speaker 3: Thought they could.
- 15:27Speaker 4: They they'll probably be the best player available, like probably
- 15:29Speaker 4: have a board set up. But yeah, I think I
- 15:32Speaker 4: really do believe that they really like he Ringo. Like
- 15:35Speaker 4: I do think that this is the reason why that
- 15:36Speaker 4: they didn't sign one, and he's going to be the guy.
- 15:38Speaker 4: But yeah, you're if just someone that falls down the board,
- 15:40Speaker 4: you might be right, and maybe they draft one the
- 15:43Speaker 4: third round that pops in training camp something like that.
- 15:45Speaker 2: Who knows.
- 15:45Speaker 1: Yeah, well, there's certainly steam around another storyline. I'm not
- 15:51Speaker 1: sure how much fire is there though. When we're talking
- 15:53Speaker 1: about the possible trade of tight end Dallas Goddard and
- 15:57Speaker 1: the defensive end Bryce Huff, I'm wondering, do you think
- 16:00Speaker 1: this storyline has some legs or is it just kind
- 16:02Speaker 1: of being thrown out there as like, you know, bait.
- 16:06Speaker 1: This offseason is like red meat for some of US
- 16:08Speaker 1: Eagles fans. We know that certainly Philly Sports Radio likes
- 16:11Speaker 1: to do that every now and again. But what are
- 16:13Speaker 1: your thoughts on this storyline? Does it have any legs
- 16:15Speaker 1: for you?
- 16:16Speaker 4: It's funny As an NFL news editor, we try to
- 16:18Speaker 4: find sources and where news is coming from. The Dallas
- 16:21Speaker 4: Guar thing has been really funny over the last week
- 16:22Speaker 4: because so Josina Anderson, who used to work at CBS Sports,
- 16:28Speaker 4: that the Eagles would take a fourth round pick for
- 16:30Speaker 4: Dallas Garr and.
- 16:30Speaker 3: We're all kind of like, what or did this come from?
- 16:32Speaker 4: Yeah, and then we kind of dug up on it
- 16:34Speaker 4: and there was no really talk about it. Was just
- 16:37Speaker 4: kind of Twitter's fear talk. And then I believe Jeff
- 16:40Speaker 4: Mosher of Inside the Birds on a radio station last
- 16:44Speaker 4: week said that they Eagles have great they as of
- 16:46Speaker 4: his belief, so his sources say that Dallas Gotter has
- 16:49Speaker 4: been granted to permission to find a trade. Now Jeff
- 16:52Speaker 4: Mosher is the only one reporting that, and I think
- 16:54Speaker 4: jose I don't know if Josina had any sources on it,
- 16:56Speaker 4: but we never covered it at our company. We like
- 16:58Speaker 4: to have sources on it, so we to be passed
- 17:01Speaker 4: on this, so it's been kind of weird to get
- 17:05Speaker 4: a read on it. To my from my understanding, if
- 17:08Speaker 4: I was to take a guest, I think Dallas Goddard
- 17:10Speaker 4: is on the team the next season, and I think
- 17:14Speaker 4: that they probably just let him walk after the twenty
- 17:17Speaker 4: twenty five season and they don't pay him. Here's here's
- 17:20Speaker 4: my read on this is I think Dallas Goddard probably
- 17:24Speaker 4: went and saw Saquon Barkley get paid, A J. Brown,
- 17:27Speaker 4: DeVonta Smith, even Giald Hurts got paid twenty twenty three.
- 17:30Speaker 4: He's like, where's my check? Like I look at all
- 17:32Speaker 4: these guys getting paid, Like do you know what I mean?
- 17:35Speaker 4: Like I've been here a while, where's my raise?
- 17:38Speaker 3: Right?
- 17:38Speaker 4: And Dallas Goddard has been a great player, but he
- 17:41Speaker 4: has not been able to stay healthy, and I think
- 17:43Speaker 4: that's a huge port of huge reason why at the
- 17:46Speaker 4: Eagles haven't extended him. He played only ten games. I
- 17:49Speaker 4: believe that she had multiple stints on ir multiple like
- 17:52Speaker 4: multiple games missus overshirt stretches of the season. So I
- 17:57Speaker 4: do think that they they want him for new season.
- 18:00Speaker 4: In another kind of theory that I have is like
- 18:04Speaker 4: I think trading CJ. Garner Johnson was like the cap
- 18:07Speaker 4: saving move from the roster, so they don't need to
- 18:10Speaker 4: get They can make it work with Dallas Goddard with
- 18:12Speaker 4: this money under the cap. I don't think Dallas Guard's
- 18:14Speaker 4: gonna hold out in trading camp or anything like that.
- 18:17Speaker 4: I don't think he's that type of guy. I was
- 18:18Speaker 4: gonna ask you, Yeah, I think kids stick around and
- 18:21Speaker 4: then and then then he walks at the end of
- 18:23Speaker 4: the year. So that's kind of my read on the situation.
- 18:26Speaker 4: Bryce Huff. If they can get something, they can get
- 18:29Speaker 4: something for him, But I don't think anyone's trading for
- 18:31Speaker 4: that contract.
- 18:32Speaker 2: All right, very good. Well before I let you go, buddy, Uh.
- 18:35Speaker 1: You know, we've been talking about the Eagles draft and
- 18:38Speaker 1: what it actually may look like. It's certainly going to
- 18:40Speaker 1: be a very interesting draft this year, and again, I
- 18:43Speaker 1: think the front office is going to really want to
- 18:47Speaker 1: gain more talent in the trenches, both on offense and defense.
- 18:50Speaker 1: That's how this team has been built over some time now,
- 18:54Speaker 1: and this team has certainly seen success with that type
- 18:56Speaker 1: of strategy. When it's all said and done, Brandon, what
- 19:00Speaker 1: type of draft do you think the Eagles are going
- 19:03Speaker 1: to have in terms of in terms of the theme
- 19:06Speaker 1: from this upcoming draft class, what do you think they
- 19:08Speaker 1: want that theme to be?
- 19:10Speaker 3: Trenches?
- 19:11Speaker 4: They want to they want to implement guys on the
- 19:13Speaker 4: offensive defensive line.
- 19:14Speaker 2: Yep.
- 19:15Speaker 4: I think like the offensive line is getting up there
- 19:17Speaker 4: in age. Well, Lane Johnson's getting up there in age.
- 19:20Speaker 4: I really think they're good. They want to try to
- 19:22Speaker 4: get ahead start at his replacement.
- 19:23Speaker 3: Yep.
- 19:24Speaker 4: So I would look for an offensive tackle early in
- 19:26Speaker 4: the draft. Maybe there's one that they like. They have
- 19:28Speaker 4: a lot of ammo. They have twenty picks up for
- 19:30Speaker 4: the next two years, combined with all the compensatory picks
- 19:32Speaker 4: that are coming in twenty twenty six. Now you actually
- 19:34Speaker 4: don't get those until next year, so you can't physically
- 19:36Speaker 4: trade them right right now, but you can trade your
- 19:39Speaker 4: picks from like the picks that you own and move them.
- 19:43Speaker 4: So if there's an offensive tackle that kind of starts
- 19:44Speaker 4: falling in the first round, I wouldn't put it past
- 19:46Speaker 4: them to go get one. And I really do think
- 19:48Speaker 4: they want to get some more pass rushers. Brandon Graham.
- 19:52Speaker 4: We still have no word on what's going on with him.
- 19:54Speaker 4: We saw Josh Shwett leave the building they need, They
- 19:57Speaker 4: need an influx of youth at that position. Now they
- 19:59Speaker 4: have folks Hunt and Nolan Smith who are young, but
- 20:02Speaker 4: they need guy they We see how this works with
- 20:04Speaker 4: Howie and he always wants the next one up, next
- 20:06Speaker 4: one up, next one up. We saw with Morojama. Now
- 20:08Speaker 4: more Ojin was a seventh round pick. That's hit that
- 20:10Speaker 4: that doesn't happen very often. But I do think they're
- 20:13Speaker 4: they're they're gonna not wait till the seventh round. They're
- 20:15Speaker 4: gonna want to get guys or in the early rounds
- 20:17Speaker 4: that kind of replace that. So I think you're gonna
- 20:19Speaker 4: see a lot of offensive linemen and defensive lineman taken
- 20:22Speaker 4: because also Kenyan Green and Tyler Steen aren't locks to start,
- 20:26Speaker 4: like if they do, like look like a guard early
- 20:29Speaker 4: on in the draft, that guy could come in and
- 20:30Speaker 4: start as well and be and be the and be
- 20:32Speaker 4: the starting right guard week one. So I really, I like,
- 20:35Speaker 4: I know it's the easy and it's kind of the
- 20:37Speaker 4: coward's way out whenever you ask what the Eagles are
- 20:39Speaker 4: gonna do in the draft, But I do think this year,
- 20:41Speaker 4: like you're not gonna see the the quid Don Mitchell
- 20:43Speaker 4: Cooper de gene one two like they do that, so
- 20:47Speaker 4: sign the running back kind of thing like they how
- 20:49Speaker 4: He's gonna go back to Howie and I do think
- 20:51Speaker 4: they're gonna want to fill the depth chart up with
- 20:53Speaker 4: some offensive and defensive lineman.
- 20:55Speaker 2: All right, sounds good, folks.
- 20:56Speaker 1: Again, he's Brandon Deeg from the Score the Score Down
- 21:00Speaker 1: and follow him on the Twitter slash x at Brendan
