- 0:07an upbeat and informative way. And now here's your man on the
- 0:11spectrum, your autism ambassador, Daniel Morgan Jones.
- 0:19Hey, I'm talking to you autistic people.
- 0:21Here are three mistakes that you make daily all out plus more is
- 0:25coming right up so don't go anywhere.
- 0:26Hey guys welcome back to the ASP world.
- 0:28My name is Dan, I have autism, ADHD, OCD and dyslexia and I
- 0:32make weekly videos all about this stuff.
- 0:33So if you're new around here and you want to learn more in an
- 0:35awesome environment, make sure to hit that subscribe button by
- 0:38clicking the notification belt down below to make sure you
- 0:40don't miss a video. I'm covering 3 really
- 0:42interesting points that mistakes that you make daily being in the
- 0:45spectrum. Don't worry, I'm not calling you
- 0:47out, I'm just expressing something in a way for you to
- 0:49become a little bit more confident in who you are.
- 0:51So mistakes autistic people make, I know that we all make
- 0:53mistakes daily. And you know, making mistakes is
- 0:56good because mistakes lead to something potentially being a
- 0:59failure and failure is actually a really good thing.
- 1:02It's within matter of Facebook's that terms and conditions of
- 1:06being a company that they have a motto that says fail and fail
- 1:10hard. Because when you fail at
- 1:11something that shows you that that's not the thing that you're
- 1:13supposed to do. You need to find an ulterior
- 1:15road and do something else completely different, which
- 1:18means that failure is actually a good way of testing things.
- 1:20It's kind of like what we've all done since the dawn of time,
- 1:23trial and error and trying our best.
- 1:25So what does this mean for you? Well, before I get right into
- 1:28that, I just want to say thank you to today's sponsor, which is
- 1:31brilliant. Now brilliant is it's a non
- 1:32prescription, non addictive homeopathic medication.
- 1:35And now I use this because I have ADHD and it's perfect
- 1:38because this thing enhances clarity, it improves
- 1:41concentration and it also reduces things like
- 1:44irritability, stress, anxiety, impulsivity, which is all kind
- 1:48of stuff that comes along with an autonomous factual condition
- 1:51and ADHD. Now brilliant actually make
- 1:53brilliant for children and brilliant for adults.
- 1:55And it's just this little tab that you kind of like just pop
- 1:57out, put in your tongue and let it dissolve.
- 1:59You take two to four of them every single day and after about
- 2:02two or three weeks, you'll notice a big difference.
- 2:04Now if you are thinking about trying Bilia, speak to your
- 2:06doctor first. But I also have a 15% discount
- 2:09code so you can get 15% off your first audit.
- 2:11You can check out the link in the description down below and
- 2:14use the code ASP 15 to get your 15% off right now.
- 2:17I highly recommend them. I trust.
- 2:19Them and they are something that I use.
- 2:21I never promote something that I didn't believe in.
- 2:23OK guys, let's get on with the video.
- 2:24OK, so the three mistakes, what are they?
- 2:27Like I said, we were only looking at the word mistakes
- 2:29here as being something that is non negative.
- 2:32More learning, so less negative, more learning.
- 2:35You're still awesome and I love you dearly.
- 2:38So number one is don't apologise for being artistic.
- 2:41Many artistic people, I see this dearly.
- 2:43They'll apologise for their autistic behaviour like you
- 2:46know, oh, I'm sorry, I'm I'm autistic or I can't do that.
- 2:49I'm sorry I'm autistic. They'll they'll say that I'm
- 2:51sorry for being autistic, like being in the autism spectrum
- 2:54isn't something you need to be sorry for.
- 2:55It's not something that you actually, you know, need to to
- 2:59worry about. It's something that is, is
- 3:01should be celebrated as part of who you are, right.
- 3:04And it's kind of bizarre that we find ourselves run to apologise
- 3:07and because of the world we live in and disabilities like
- 3:10neurodevelopmental conditions like autism, they're always kind
- 3:13of scene with skepticism from some people.
- 3:15You know, some people will say, oh, it doesn't exist.
- 3:17It's just excuse for bad behaviour and yada, yada.
- 3:19You know, you've heard the rhetoric.
- 3:21And I think we as autistic individuals will find out that's
- 3:24a pressure on us to make sure that we say, oh, oh, I'm sorry,
- 3:27I'm on the auts of the spectrum. Well, all stops today, Dan me,
- 3:30I'm allowing you to say no more. Just stop apologising for being
- 3:33autistic. You're awesome just the way you
- 3:35are. People need to expect that and
- 3:37they need to accept it. If you're enjoying studios for
- 3:39Five Guys, please give it a thumbs up.
- 3:40Really does help me be awesome if you could.
- 3:42OK, so the next thing I'm going to talk about is I'm asking you
- 3:46a question. Are you autistic and ADHD or are
- 3:48you just autistic? Like let me know.
- 3:50Do you have comorbidities or you just autistic?
- 3:53I want to know who I'm talking to and the way you're watching
- 3:55from and stuff like that. So pop it in a comment down
- 3:57below. If you're autistic or you're
- 3:59autistic and ADHDL or DHD is when you'll call it, let me
- 4:02know. I respond to every single
- 4:03comment because I read every single comment.
- 4:05OK #2 is that the biggest mistake I think autistic people
- 4:08do is you push yourself into uncomfortable situations,
- 4:10especially social situations because you don't want to let
- 4:13down somebody. Like see, you've got a group of
- 4:15friends and you they, your friends like, hey, we're all
- 4:17going out for a beer after work, you're going to come with us.
- 4:19I mean, you're gut instinct to say no, I don't want to offer a
- 4:22beer because that's not me. That's not who I am.
- 4:24I want to go home, snub on my blanket, watch every rear out of
- 4:27Doctor Who whilst also on Wikipedia learning about why
- 4:30cats have claws and why cats are so small.
- 4:32Now you know, there are so many different things and they know
- 4:35that you, you're watching this right now.
- 4:37Give the video a thumbs up if I just called you out.
- 4:38And there's so many things that we want to do that don't involve
- 4:40go out socializing because those things are hugely anxiety
- 4:45ridden. You know, they're, they're high
- 4:46in anxiety, they're high in stress and they're in
- 4:48comfortable situations. But I see so many autistic
- 4:51people wanting to fit in, wanting to to mask the situation
- 4:55and they'll just go out and they'll do that thing.
- 4:57And then of course, what happens?
- 4:58They burn out, you're going to burn out.
- 5:00So a number 3 is don't acquire your voice because autistic
- 5:04individuals are so typically the people who will sit in the
- 5:07background and not speak out even when they know something is
- 5:10a wrong or B not advocating for yourself.
- 5:13Like if there is something that you have a problem with, if
- 5:15there's something that you're not quite happy with, you have
- 5:18to speak out. Don't think that you're a burden
- 5:21or you're, you're a pain because, oh, you want, you know,
- 5:24the light to be different, or you want to put your headphones
- 5:26in, or you want to kind of turn the heating down in the room.
- 5:28Or there is some issue that you as a resisted person will
- 5:31definitely have, but you won't voice your voice because you
- 5:34think that you're not as important as somebody else.
- 5:36I see it all the time. We are sometimes our own worst
- 5:39advocates because we want to advocate for all these people
- 5:42and all these disabilities. Yet when it comes to us, we're
- 5:44the quietest voice about ourselves.
- 5:46So make sure you're #1 make sure your voice is heard.
- 5:50Do not quiet here and the reason this all helps and reason these
- 5:53three mistakes that you make daily impact your life is
- 5:56because these impact your ability to be confident and we
- 6:00all need to be confident, but autistic people specifically
- 6:03have an issue of confidence. I actually did a course all
- 6:05about this. It's a program called chaos to
- 6:08confidence in 90 days for autistic people.
- 6:10And I'll leave a link for it down below if you're really
- 6:12interested in checking it out. But this is how you know super
- 6:16into this. I am I I just can't believe that
- 6:19we leave all of this confidence building stuff on the table and
- 6:23we end up being less confident as people and autistic people
- 6:25are the people who need confidence the most.
- 6:27Now, if you think this video was valuable, please give it a
- 6:30thumbs up and share it on social media to help other people.
